Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #41 10/13/14 Broken Faces and Broken Hearts

This was a packed episode, lots of serious things going on as our story kicks into high gear. Sorry, I just couldn't think of snarky captions for the pictures.

From Friday:
After the dance show, Lupe' asks Paco if Sofia is more like her mother than her father.
Chava and Sofia talk before she goes home.
Alexa tries to call Alan but he doesn't answer.
Manolo's thugs punch and kick Alan.

New:
Now that all her daughters have gone out for the evening Greta realizes how big and empty the house feels. Fausto tell her she's experiencing empty nest syndrome. It was bound to happen sooner or later. As if in answer to her mother's sadness, Sofia comes through the front door. It's been a hard day. The workers were able to handle a crisis and now Pato and Silvana are finishing up at the factory. Greta notices a spot on Sofia's blouse. Sofia says she spilled a little of the tostado de pata she ate at Cuco's Place. "Tostado de Pata!??" Greta wrinkles her nose and waves her hand in disdain. Sofia tells them it was delicious! But she's had a hard day and now it's off to bed. Sofia runs upstairs. Greta wonders about the change in her daughter. Fausto thinks it's good for Sofia to try new things and have new and different experiences before she gets tied down to Pato.

Everyone is talking after the dance show. Araceli looks at Alexa, who appears to be drunk, and asks Chava about her and Armie. "She and Sofia are sisters. Armando is her chauffeur. There are three of them, but the youngest isn't here." Araceli takes a sip of her drink, "I'm glad."

Lucas asks why Dani is in disguise. She tells him she wanted to keep an eye on Marisol. Lucas assures her he would never cheat on her with anyone.

Matias puts a new batch of chocolate bon-bons in the cooler. He needs to take a break and get some coffee. He dances out the door and heads for the break room.

Armie asks Paco if he enjoyed the dance show. At the next show, Paco should dance! Alexa stumbles back from the ladies room and knocks over a chair. She sways and Armie grabs hold of her. He introduces her to Paco. "Yes, I remember her." Alexa laughs drunkenly, "Aren't you Nandito's uncle? The guy from the store?" Armie helps her to a chair. Paco asks, "Where's Nandito?" Armie explains that he took him to Lupe's house. Paco looks at Alexa. He doesn't approve.

Araceli asks Chava what it was like to be the star of the show. He smiles, "When Sofia walked through the door as the dance started, it made me happier than anything in the world."

Sofia gets ready for bed. She picks up her phone and calls Pato who is in his office running an ice cube down from Silvana's lips, to her neck and between her breasts. Pato tells Sofia that he and Silvana are just finishing things up.

Dani and Lucas talk on the phone. They make plans to spend the next day together.

Pato and Silvana move to the floor. Matias, on his way to the break room, passes by the window. He notices movement on the floor of the office through the blinds. He takes a few steps back and looks again.

(This part of the scene was cut by Univision.) Silvana rolls over and gets on top of Pato. The kissing and moaning continue. Patricio sits up and pulls Silvana close to him. Matias watches for a long moment then backs away from the window.

A few seconds later something falls in the hallway. Silvana stops, "There's someone out there!" Pato wants to keep going but she insists, "It could be Matias because he works late!" They start putting their clothes on. Pato growls, "I'm going to fire whoever's out there." Silvana hands him his belt. He asks, "Are we going to continue at your place or mine?" She tells him to get out there and check. Pato goes into the hall still buttoning his shirt. He checks Sofia's office. Silvana comes into the hall. Pato shakes his head, "Nothing."
"I was sure I heard something."
"The only thing I'm sure of is that it wasn't Sofia." He grabs Silvana and starts kissing her again.

Matias is at his locker. He talks to the picture of Silvana. "How could you? You stomped on my heart. I didn't think you were that kind of a woman. So easy." He sobs, "You are such a disappointment. Such a disappointment."

He rips the picture from the locker and crumples it. "You don't deserve to be there. You didn't think about me or about your friend, our boss, who has done so much for us and for others." He slides down the locker to the floor, "It's not fair. It's not fair. You betrayed me."

Matias is heartbroken.

Sofia is having trouble sleeping. She tosses and turns and smiles.

Chava takes Araceli to Paco's house. She invites him in and asks if he remembers all those times they watched movies, ate popcorn and cuddled. Would he like some coffee, or tea... or popcorn? Chava turns her down. He has to get up early.

Armie brings Alexa back to the mansion. She is having trouble walking. He scolds her, "Repeat after me. Don't mix sleeping drops and beer." Alexa tells him she is dizzy and asks him to carry her to her room.

Manolo dumps a bucket of water on Alan. "When the Ripoll's see you, they'll pay. I'm a good man, so I'll give you a few days to recover. When I call you, you better pay me everything you owe or your girlfriend will get it. Understand?"

Armie carries Alexa into the bedroom, "For a skinny girl you sure have heavy bones." He puts Alexa down on her bed. "Go to sleep." She strokes his face and then kisses him.

Alexa rolls over and Armie pulls the blankets up. "Go to sleep." He leaves the bedroom. In the hall he is surprised by Fausto, who demands to know exactly what is going on.

Chava wants to go to bed but Lupe' wants to talk. She's had such an exciting day! She tells Chava that Armie looked like he was having fun at the dance show. He was relaxed and actually smiling, not all tense like when Irma's around. "Irma's a good woman, but she drives him nuts. It's always one thing after another."

Back at the Ripoll house, Armie explains the situation to Fausto, "Alexa drank something that made her sick. I brought her home and carried her up here because Alan went off somewhere and never came back. Is he here?" Fausto hasn't seen him.

Lupe asks if Alexa has a boyfriend. "I noticed she was flirting with Armando. What's going on between them?" Chava tells Lupe' that Alexa is really taken with Nandito. Lupe' thinks Alexa is a nice girl, like her sister. Chava assures her that there is nothing going on between Alexa and Armando.

Matias sits by his locker. He has taped his picture of Silvana back together. "I'm a fool! Forgive me, Silvie. It's not your fault. You are only a victim of Patricio Iturbide. He's been manipulating you." Matias kisses the picture. He'll find a way to free her from Patricio. He tapes the picture to the locker door and kisses it again.

Paco looks at his recipe book and a photo of Greta and him with Octavio. He remembers back to the picnic when the picture was taken. He and Greta are standing together when Octavio grabs the recipe book from him. Paco grabs it back, "That's my life, Octavio!"
"The master chocolatier, Paco Fernandez! Is this book of recipes more important than your girlfriend Greta Bandy?
"Nothing in the world is more important than Greta." Paco kisses her.
Octavio grabs the book again and runs waving the book in the air. He taunts Paco, "You're a slave to this book." Octavio tosses the book back and laughs. Coria gets up from the table and tells them to stand together and smile. He snaps the picture. Paco drops the photograph to the table, "It's time to free myself from all this. It's time."

The next morning Irma visits Ramon at the prison. "I didn't want to come here. Your sister blackmailed me." Martina chides her, "Irma, Ramon is very sick."
Ramon thanks her for coming to see him. Irma turns to him, "I know that you're dying, but I buried you years ago." Ramon tells Irma that he needed to see her, to look her in the eyes, to clear his conscience and ask her forgiveness. For many years he's had to face the fact that he made many mistakes. He could have had a life with her! Instead he took the wrong path and look where he ended up!
"I don't pity you. But you did give me one good thing. The best gift you could have given me. My Nandito."
"How is he?"
"Why do you want to know. He's never been important to you." Irma reluctantly hands Ramon a picture of Nandito.
"I can't believe it! I can't believe it!" Ramon clutches the picture to his chest. Martina tells Irma that Nandito looks exactly like their father. Ramon cries and begs Irma to bring Nandito to see him. He's got to see his son before he dies. Irma stares at him.

Armie and Nandito are having breakfast. Nandito says he was confused when he woke up at Chava's house. Maybe today they'll hear from Mama. Nandito goes to wash his hands and Armie dials his phone. She doesn't pick up. "Why don't you answer, Irma?"

Fausto brushes Sofia's hair and asks if the tostado she ate was the reason for her insomnia. She tells him she was thinking about all the fun she had at the dance show. Fausto makes her promise to tell him all about it soon.

Matias hands Silvana a folder. She asks, "Did you work last night?"
"I finished the order. It's all in the report." He turns to leave.
"You didn't bring me any bon-bon samples or even give me a single compliment. Maybe going without sleep is getting to you. What's wrong?"
Matias yells, "If I'm this way, it's your fault!"
"What do you mean?"
He walks to the door, "Nevermind. I have to forget about you." He walks out.
Silvana grabs the phone and calls Pato. "The person who was in the hall last night must have been Matias! He's acting strange. You have to talk to him."

Araceli confesses to Paco that she still has feelings for Chava.

Chava brings the car to the door for Sofia. He asks what she thought of the show. When he saw her come in the door his heart started pounding in a good way. Sofia tells him all the problems of her long day vanished. She thanks him. They smile at each other.

Dani and Lucas go to a stable and go riding. FF------>

Alexa enters the kitchen and opens the refrigerator. She wants that magical juice that Fausto makes. Armie asks her what she remembers from last night. She can't remember how she got to her bedroom. Armie tells Alexa he brought her home because Alan never came back. Aurora runs in and interrupts, "Something terrible has happened to Alan!" They run to the foyer. Alan is laying on the floor with his head on Fausto's knee. Alexa nearly collapses at the sight of him. Greta says she's already called for an ambulance. Armie examines Alan, "He's not bleeding and there are no broken bones. We need to get him to someplace more comfortable." Alexa tells him to take Alan to her bedroom. Fausto and Armie pull Alan to his feet and Armie carries him up the stairs. Alexa and Greta sob on each other's shoulders.

Pato has called Matias to his office. "We're friends, aren't we? Isn't that what you always say? We're pals?" Matias is fiddling with a pencil. Pato asks, "Why are you so nervous?"
"I'm not nervous. Matias Escudero doesn't get nervous." He puts the pencil into a cup and nearly knocks the whole thing on the floor. "I didn't see anything."
"What didn't you see?"
"Last night? Nothing. Nothing."
"Matias... PAL.... I'll tell you what you saw last night."

Sofia and Chava arrive at the factory. The security guard, Aripse, tells Sofia there is a man who wants to talk to her but he refuses to go in the building.
"Who is it?"
"It's Mr. Francisco Fernandez."
Paco comes forward, "Miss Ripoll, it's time for us to have a very serious conversation."

Xint, As soon as my eyes touched on your title, I knew this would be a fabulous recap. And it was!

Your exceptional narrative and conversation translations were superb. But it was your tone "Tostado de Pata!??" Greta wrinkles her nose and waves her hand in disdain" that elevated your synopsis even higher. Your screen shots spoke for themselves.

"Paco looks at Alexa. He doesn't approve". I certainly concur. It isn't as though Irma isn't loving and affectionate to Nandito. She is. It's just that Alexa is sweet as sugar (with no affectation) toward him. And then, she has that princess allure going on. And, I fear, her vulnerability is a huge attraction for Armando. Irma seems to be able to take care of herself - Alexa is the classic wounded bird in distress.

Irma was very cool and collected (at least outwardly) at the prison visit. I cannot see how and why she would bring Nandito there unless Martina continues her blackmail threat. This cannot end well.

I hope Matias never tries to play poker. He cannot keep either a straight face or a closed mouth. He wears his heart on his sleeve, another vulnerable, sweet soul. I cannot fathom how Pato will succeed in making Matias feel he misconstrued what he saw with Sil. If Pato dares to touch a hair on Matias' head, he will need to answer to me!

It appears Alan will recover. Hopefully, the cooler heads (Fausto and Armando) will grasp the seriousness of the situation and come up with a plan. And quickly.

I wonder if Paco intend to tell Sophia the truth. He really should seek out Greta first.

Xint, this was wonderful. Thank you.

Diana

Xlnt, what a perfect title for this marvy recap. Thanks.

Wow, Matías has it really bad for Silvana!

Yikes, now Ramón wants Irma to drag Nandito to see him which leads us to . . .

Oh no! Armando is just too nice and too good to end up with crazy bratty Alexa but sadly it looks like that is where he is headed.

How? How? How did Alan arrive back at the Ripoll house? It doesn't look like he walked back. Did Manolo throw or roll him out of a moving car? Did he ring the door bell? Stumble in?

Please! Directed at Armando: do not play Dr. Analysis: looks like there are no broken bones and Alan is not bleeding so just take him upstairs and put him in a bed? Sure.

Really? Armando is going to carry Alan up the stairs with his bloody shirt in contact with his suit jacket. I sure hope he sends it to the dry cleaners.

I never have liked Lucas so it was a long long episode for me.

Caray! It looks like Paco is on the verge of coming clean with Sofía. Hope she keeps all info to herself and ponders all possible implications but she will probably won't.

Do Sofia and her sisters know Octavio wasn't the choir boy they thought he was yet ?

I'm looking forward to Paco and Greta meeting face-to-face.

Steve, no! The "girls" don't have any idea about their father.

It looks like that may be about to change though...

xlnt/Kathy and other Hasta recappers, can you please email me. I have an update on Mads, but don't have most of your email addresses. You should be able to contact me by clicking on my avatar/pic.

Xlnt/Kathy- What a great recap! No captions needed on such great screen caps.

Matias really has no ability to hide his feelings. How very generous of him to believe that Pato is taking advantage of "poor" Silvie. Pato better not harm him in any way.

Wow! I couldn't believe how cold Irma was to her dying ex. He must have been a real jerk to her. How would she possibly explain bringing Nando to a prison to see some random dying guy? Is that even allowed for kids that young? In any case, no way she can make that happen without coming clean to Armie.

Xlnt - Superb title and recap. Thanks much for giving us all the details with such great style.

I agree with all said. I felt so bad when Matias put Silvana’s torn-up picture back together and said she was an innocent corrupted by Pato. It’s sweet that he’s so forgiving. Sure hope he keeps his mouth shut with Pato.

Wondering if Silvana, aside from worrying that her treachery will get back to Sofia, is also sad that Matias is disillusioned with her. She always seemed to enjoy his flirting.

Armando carrying a bloodied Alan up to bed. I needed a super beanie for that one. How about just keeping Alan on the floor and draping a blanket over him till the ambulance came? Who knows what Alan body part Armando may have dislodged in carrying him like a sack of potatoes up the stairs?

I must give kudos to all the TN men who’ve had to carry heavy weight up a winding staircase and make it look effortless or romantic. I always fear they may hurt their back in these scenes.

At first I was ticked at Greta scoffing at eating tostada de pata. But I think the root of her snobbishness is her hurt because she thinks Paco deserted her. So now she’s against anything that comes from the lower class that he represents. That’s my theory any way.

I thought it was cute that Paco and Araceli were protective of Irma and watching Alexa with Armando. I would've done the same for a cousin.

Ay, Irma. Nandito's bio-dad has nothing to lose. What's to stop him from spilling the beans?

Off Topic: Jane the Virgin started last night on the CW with Jaime Camil playing the father of the main character and a telenovela star. Interesting plot and funny.

Great recap Xint. Well done.

For me, Matías is steadily, bit by bit, stealing this show. He is such a gifted actor. I despised him so much in AV. I just hope that he doesn't become such a threat and thorn in the side for Pato that he becomes an early casualty.

Carlos

Greta is BUJI and hostile to anything lower class.

Remember, the late Eva Peron used to be poor before she hit it big.
