I apologize for not having posted a discussion space for week 5.

I love the flashbacks we get with Young Mauro and Florencia and seeing that scrumptious being Cristian de la Fuente in general.

I agree with everything you said up there, except about Valeria's hair. I wouldn't want to be the one to have to comb it, but good for her for letting it fly! She wears it well.

And Max is a bit of an idiot. He would have a lot fewer problems now if he hadn't been so stubborn and ridiculous. "Oh, my true love is married? Fine! I'll show her by getting married to someone I don't love. That'll teach her". Bad move dude, especially with someone as desperate as Connie.

I'm still catching up from last week and will be out on vacation (Mexico!) next week, but look forward to any recaps. Don't want to have to spend every waking hour watching tv, even if it does include CdF. (Still can't believe Uni put this in the middle of the day. Have they not LOOKED at the men in this show?)

I totally agree that this should be a prime time show. From the same producer as CME and Amor Bravio, it is better than ANY of the ones being shown at night - by far!

Agree wholeheartedly that this should be a prime time show. Female and male actors and provocative plot are superior to anything now showing. Enjoy Diana Bracho even though she is playing a villain. She is a beautiful woman. Love the demeanor of Otto Sirgo.

I'm posting a recap of the Elevator Kiss episode for Friday, Oct 10 on Week 3, if anyone wishes to replay it in their heads.

Am working on Week 4 now. Hope to be caught up by the end of the week (that's only a maybe, hopeful).

My heart gave an extra beat when Max caught up with Amaya in the parking garage and she wouldn't talk to him.

Here is what’s been going on recently in the Montesino and Serrano households while I’ve been trying to catch up.

Mariana is hired by Iván (for Iván) at El Paraíso as his assistant. For her own reasons, she doesn’t want anyone to know which finca she’ll be working for.

Max has written Amaya off his list of potential partners after seeing her with her hub and child as a “happy family.”

But Max and Amaya keep crossing paths—it’s destiny, you two, get with the program.

She finally has to tell him she was grateful for what he did for her, but she has NO feelings for him, even after he tells her he’s struggling with the possibility that he could love two women.

The owner of the other finca dies and the nephew and heir, Ulises, shows up for the funeral (OMG has Diego Amozurrutia ever filled out nicely since Mi Pecado and Amorcito Corazón.) He looks like he stepped out of a narco-mafia novela or just got off a motorcycle and left the gang behind. He’s lookin’ GOOD—and he just spied Mariana. Meanwhile, toady, brown-nosing Cipriano makes like he’s just the man Ulises needs on the finca.

Mauro has a heart attack. Amaya is the one who brings him to the hospital. Max stays by his side. He begins to dream of Florencia and wants to see Amaya. He finds out this Amaya and Max’s Amaya are one and the same. He counsels his son not to marry Consta if he’s not sure of his feelings for Amaya. Juliana arrives to help her dad. After seeing Lucrecia and César for the first time in over 15 years, she smells a RAT, make that two RATS.

Don Manuel has a sweetie-pie (mi amor) and it’s none other than the recently fired Genoveva. Max gives her a job, based on Manuel’s recommendation.

Flavia and Eloisa learn accidentally from Salvador (Yummy) Romero’s own lips he’s in love with Constanza. Flavia nearly ruins it for Max.

César gets the money to pay off Omar, who now was the “investigator.” He follows his mother and she lies and tells him he knows Eloisa was in prison for 5 years and is blackmailing her.

Through a series of accidental meetings and non-meetings, César comes to the conclusion Amaya is Mauro’s lover. He accidentally rams her car while following too closely. As a gentleman, he pays for everything and introduces himself as César Ugarte (his mother’s maiden name).

Lucrecia contracts an actor to play the world renown specialist in medical hypnosis. Let’s see how that goes.

Mon Oct 20 - Part 1

Omar is still in the hallway with Luce & César. She passes him off to César as an art dealer who was going to pick out some art work for her. It was to be her birthday gift to Mauro (yeah, as if). Luce practically throws him out of the house. He reminds her to come up with the blackmail money, or else. César tells his mother he didn’t like her friend—he seems untrustworthy. Luce tells him not to worry. They won’t be seeing him again.

Flavia throws a few frijoles on the table, while the rest of the family is still sitting around al fresco. Flavia recounts how she found Salvador (Yummy) Romero by himself at a bar and confessed to her he was in love, but it was an impossible love. Max wonders if that’s what Sal wanted to talk about earlier. Flavia thinks he should ask Constanza, because lately Consta and Sal have been very chummy. Max says he’ll check it out. Then he announces his marriage to Consta in one month. Jorge and Flavia go in the house for champagne.

Jorge and Flavia get into a little discussion. Jorge is amazed at her technological savvy and congratulates her. Flavia wonders if it’s because she’s a woman it isn’t expected of her. She has a lot of hidden qualities—none of which he’ll find, because, as he has said, she’s Max’s little sister. Jorge claims that’s not it. He thinks she’s young, good-looking, smart, but he’ll be off to El Paraíso on Monday and doesn’t think it’s right to start something they can’t continue—and—she’s Max’s little sister. He’s good with remaining friends.

Flavia reveals a bit of her insecurities. If she has all these great qualities he talks about, then why have no men gotten interested in her. He alludes to perhaps she doesn’t let them. She’s coquettish; she likes the challenge of a conquest. She should be asking herself if she’s really interested in making a commitment to someone.

Back at the garden dining table and alone, Eloisa asks Max if that girl (meaning Amaya) no longer means anything to him. Max says she does, but it ended before it even started.

Consta arrives for lunch, at Max’s invitation. César gives Consta a brotherly hug that makes Consta clearly uncomfortable. Luce and César join the group to toast to Max’s upcoming marriage. Consta wishes both their dads could be there. Max and Jorge talk a little about work and the young woman Don Manuel hired for the publicity campaign. She’s supposed to be brilliant and creative.

Maruo is having dinner in Venice en familia, with Franco, Alan and Juliana. They are having linguini and serving wine. Everything is harmonious and in balance. Alan finds out his grandpa has his own airplane. He wants to know how soon he can have a ride. Mauro promises to send the plane for all of them when they come to Mexico—so there won’t be any more misunderstandings over tickets. He thanks Franco for making his daughter happy for all these years. Franco says it has been his privilege. Mauro is truly happy. They toast (Alan toasts with water. Huh? In Italy, he should be drinking watered down wine. He’s old enough.)

Juliana calls the family in Mexico. At each end they get on speakerphone and birthday greetings are exchanged. Everyone seems happy. Even Lucrecia and César join in the felicitations.

Valeria and Amaya return home from soccer practice. Horacio is watching TV. Amaya is going to work on her project. Horacio and Val engage in a little horseplay.

 

Mon Oct 20 - Part 2

Monday morning, Max is on his way into his office and he hears someone calling him. It’s Amaya, come to explain her absence from their coffee date. He wants no explanations. He feels deceived. Is she going to deny she is married and has a child? No, but… No buts. She had become the most important thing in his life. The only thing he wanted was to see her again, but he guesses it wasn’t the same for her. He was a fool. Amaya tries to tell him he did become important to her, but Max cuts her off. He doesn’t want to see her again. As she walks away she thought-bubbles, he is important to her. Why didn’t he let her explain.

Consta is telling Nora all about the wedding arrangements. Nora wonders how a commuter marriage and children will work. Consta says they haven’t talked about children. Off in the distance, Sal sees them and goes the other way. Nora sees him and tells Consta and they discuss her situation with Sal. Nora tries to get Consta to see it from Sal’s point of view. He can’t really see her as a friend after declaring his love. Once she marries Max, she’ll surely lose him as a friend.

Lucrecia tells César she needs money to pay off a debt. Mauro can’t know about it and she needs it in cash right away. César wants to know why. To silence that “investigator” so he’ll go away and Mauro can never talk to him. Cece offers to take care of the matter. Luce politely, but firmly says it’s her responsibility and she’ll take care of it. How much does she need? $500,000 USD. That’s crazy, says Cece. That’s way too much for a simple pay off. What is really going on? He shakes his head, but for his mother, he’ll do it.

At El Paraíso – Iván picks Jorge up at the airport. So, Max is getting married in a month? No wonder he didn’t want to know anything more about Amaya. Jorge learns Amaya told the truth, she really did live at the finca. Her father, David Serrano was the administrator. Jorge tells Iván she did lie about something, though. She’s married and has a child. Still, they are both surprised how quickly Max made up his mind to marry. They both suspect Max still has feelings for Amaya, based on what they know of Max and how he reacted like a crazy person when he lost track of Amaya.

The school director tells Mariana she’s lost her scholarship. Not because of her grades in school, but her behavior outside of school. She doesn’t think that is fair. Directora tells her rules are rules. It’s nothing personal. Mariana realizes without the scholarship, she won’t be able to finish school and become a teacher.

Amaya is pouring her heart out to Carolina at work—Max’s rejection without letting her explain. She was really hurt. Caro thinks it was a reasonable reaction if he knew nothing about her marital status. Amaya admits it was never discussed while they spent the time at the cabañas. She was so preoccupied after the near drowning, getting away from Horacio, finding out about his latest infidelity. Max thought he saw a “happy family” at the restaurant, but she was really faking it for Val’s sake when Horacio gave her the new set of rings. Caro thinks Max must have had some very strong feelings for her to react as he did. Amaya has decided to let him know how mistaken he was and soon she’ll be a free woman.

Carolina warns her if she tells Max the whole truth, he might still reject her. Amaya is willing to take the risk. Caro wants to know if she will tell Max how she feels about him. Yes, Amaya will. She’s aware, after this rejection, he really does mean a lot to her.
 

Mon Oct 20 - Part 3

Max is replaying their first meeting, their kiss, seeing her with her hubby and child. He shakes his head. He sees the coffee maker and of course, keeps thinking of Amaya. He says to himself, why did she have to appear in his life.

Cipriano calls Horacio to tell him about a coffee plant disease (plaga = plague, scourge, epidemic) that’s affecting a lot of plantations in the area. Horacio asks if it would seem “naturally occurring,” so it couldn’t come back to implicate them. Cip tells him once it takes hold, there’s no way to stop it. Oh, and BTW, could Horacio send the rest of the money he promised. He’s not having any luck betting.

Amparo chews Dolores out for letting Cipriano treat her the way she does. Dolores says she won’t argue or resist for her daughter’s sake. Amparo says she actually setting a bad example for Mariana.

César fires Genoveva, Mauro’s long-time secretary over the cancelled reservations. She denies it but he nails her. There were only two people who had the confirmation number, she and Mauro and it wasn’t Mauro who cancelled them. She refuses to resign. She knows and tells him to his face, he also had the confirmation number. She saw him use his cell phone to take a photo of the paper she had written it down on. It had to be he.

Mauro returns from Italy a happy man. Elo greets him warmly. He’s so happy to have reconciled with his daughter. Lucrecia interrupts, smiling and jokingly (but not really) that she’s furious at him for excluding her from his plans. She’s his wife. He hurt her. Elo leaves. Luce gets the feeling he enjoys hurting her. He tells her she’s wrong; he’s not like that, not like her. And certainly not the way she hurt Juliana. They have quite an argument, Mauro spitting out his rage over her treatment of Juliana. He declares that he can’t change the past, but, sí, he will change the future. Everything in this household is going to change whether she likes it or not. Oh yeah? And what is he going to do? Mauro doesn’t hesitate—Get A Divorce and End This Farce of a Marriage.
