ALL MUST READ! Bloggers and visitors alike! Read or be banned!

Hello my dear friends, it has come to my attention that an unacceptable number of comments lately have been:
  1. Unpleasant
  2. Unsupportive of our bloggers
  3. Containing spoilers

It's bad enough I'm having to delete twenty comments every day from the spell-casters who want to bring your spouses back. I don't have the time to police this site for inappropriate remarks.

Have you noticed that there are no ads on this site? Nobody is making a cent including me. Every blogger is doing it for love. If you don't support them then you should not be here.

Have you noticed this is a NO-SPOILER zone? This is a rule with no wriggle room. It's not my rule, I don't care about spoilers (I read the end of a book after I read the first chapter). It is the READERS who have begged again and again that NOBODY SHOULD REMARK ON THINGS THAT HAVE NOT YET HAPPENED ON THE U.S. RUN OF A SHOW.

Oh, have you watched ahead somewhere? Do you think you are cooler if you go "nyah, nyah, I know what's going to happen to Horacio!"? No. You are not cooler. You are a jerk. Let people watch the shows as they unfold. If you have to gossip about what hasn't happened yet, go to another site.

We do not have racial or political or socioeconomic slurs on this blog. If you persist in this behavior you will be banned.

Have I been clear?

Support your bloggers. Thank them, do not scold or denigrate them.

Nothing nasty will be permitted.

No spoilers are permitted.

If you violate any of these simple rules your comment will be deleted without warning or explanation and if you do it repeatedly you will be banned. There, have I been clear now?

Love,
Your Blog Mom

About SPAM and DISAPPEARING COMMENTS and SORRY, SUSANLYNN!

Dear friends,
You may or may not know that our blog is attacked daily by frenzied legions of spammers. These days most of them are witch doctors, but in the old days they were peddling limousine services and air conditioners. I have turned on comment moderation after a week, and am now deleting most of the spam by hand...

... but I just discovered that blogger has, in its own attempt to ease my burden, been classifying zillions of spam comments - but also plenty of legitimate ones - as spam...

... for instance, I just found a folder on the site called SPAM and in it were about 1,500 comments dating back a couple of years and a lot of them were from (sob) Susanlynn who is one of our longest-contributing and devoted fans...

... so, if you find that your legitimate comments are not appearing (ie you are not a witch doctor or an air conditioning salesman) write to me at caray@mappamundi.com and let me know.

Quiero Amarte (Week 32-Apr 27) Highlights & Discussion

Please step into our voting booth. We invite you to select the size anvil for the characters who have done the most to derail the happiness of our main couples, Amaya/Max and Mariana/Iván. However, note this is not a secret ballot. If you wish to amplify your choices with comments, you are invited to do so.

There are four sizes:
1. Full-body size (FBS)—the character will not recover and most likely will serve time in a confined space (this could include a coffin, e.g. Horacio Espinoza)
2. Rib-crushing size (RCS)—the character will recover but will be disgraced (e.g. Constanza)
3. Leg-fracturing size (LFS)—the character will be inconvenienced for having been mean or aided and abetted a major antagonist (e.g. Becca)
4. Nail-breaking size (NBS)—the character is unaware they caused any harm or interfered (e.g. Vale at her snotty worst)

We know certain characters have tried to wreck the lives and plans of other characters (like Cesar did to Lucio and Manuel), but let’s stick to the main protagonists. Dig back into your memory banks and pull out some who may have faded into the mists on Mexican mountains.  Have Fun.

Quiero Amarte (Week 31-Apr 20) Highlights & Discussion

THE CHIAPAS WEEKLY NEWS - Online Edition for Select Subscribers
BREAKING NEWS
Don Mauro Montesinos, head of the Montesinos family, chairman and majority shareholder of the Nescafé-Mexico empire and owner of vast coffee lands in Chiapas, has been missing and presumed dead for many weeks. Most of his family members cannot believe he is dead. In breaking news it seems a Dr. Marco Antonio Linares, newly arrived head of the Chiapas medical clinic, has been instrumental in identifying him as being alive (and to his own surprise, identifying him also as his father). Don Mauro is in serious but not critical condition upon being rescued. He is alive thanks to two individuals who prefer to remain anonymous. Family members had gathered in the Montesinos Mansion in Mexico City, expecting a family reunion that never took place. They have yet to be informed of Mauro’s recovery and status. This story has not been officially confirmed, but sources close to the scene have indicated it is credible. More news on the family’s reaction as it comes in to News Central.

OTHER NEWS OF INTEREST
Iván Fonseca, recently married to the lovely Mariana Valdez and having of late recovered his lost memory, has volunteered to be a super hero and single-handedly deal fatal blows (figuratively speaking, of course) to the evil, scheming Ulises Arteaga and the dangerously obsessed and mentally unbalanced Cecilia Cortez (aka Cecy), owner of the WUN finca, La Tormenta. Ulises, recent heir to the finca El Deseo has been identified as engaging in some dirty coffee business dealings. He has now abandoned the property to evade capture after kidnapping and sequestering Mariana twice, nearly whisking her out of the country using fake passports (which he had to have replaced). He is on the run, thought to be heading for Cecy’s finca. Cecy was given parole for her participation in deceiving Iván into believing he had no wife, no family and preventing him from being reunited with his loved ones. She pretended to be crazy (which of course she really is) to “pass” her psychiatric exam and is now back home at her finca, plotting new ways to separate Mariana from Iván, the object of her obsession. More news on Iván’s heroics as it comes in to News Central.

Quiero Amarte (Week 30-April 13) Highlights & Discussion

WE CAN'T WAIT--
For Dr. Guapo Marco Antonio Linares (aka Baby Boy Montesinos) parentage to be revealed. Here's hoping he goes to El Paraiso for a visit very soon.
To figure out why Candy Seller (aka Dulce for me) has appeared so late in this story.
To learn why Sal is still hanging around.
For Mauro to SHOW UP ALIVE, for heaven's sake. It's been too long, already.
For Cesar and Lucrecia to learn Florencia has been long dead. HaHa, the "joke" is on them.
For Cecy and Uli to get the heck out of the lives of Ivan and Mariana.
For Flavia and Heriberto to share more than work, a bonfire and distributing flyers.
To clear up the seeming mystery, perpetuated by certain characters not in the telenovela, that Consta's baby is not Max's.
To see how Max and Amaya will ever be able to get back together before the end.

Let your speculations abound!

Calling all bloggers (and readers): we are under spam attack

Hello friends,

Owing to a sudden onslaught of spam comments, I've changed the settings on comments so that after seven or ten days comments will NOT be automatically published, but will be submitted for moderation. I believe (but I'm not sure) that each individual blogger will start seeing a lot of comments to be moderated. It's now your responsibility to kill the spam ones and let the others go through. I would do it, but I only get the comments put on my own posts. If you have questions let me know.

And readers, I suggest you get your comments up promptly (unless you are a spam generating robot) because later they may not be appearing in a timely manner!

I don't know why blogger is suddenly letting us down like this. Or whether the spammers suddenly noticed we are getting about 12,000 visits a day (we're up to around 14 million total now!) and figure it's worth it to attack us.

Quiero Amarte (Week 29-Apr 6) Highlights & Discussion

MUSINGS FOR THIS WEEK

Did the perpetrators of the majority of the evil deeds committed on QA reach their zenith this past week?
Is this the week their downward slide begins as revelations and confrontations begin?
How much longer can the master criminal minds, Lucrecia and her evil spawn, Cesar, prevail against the forces for good?
What about the deeds of all the minor criminal minds, Ulises, Cecelia and Cipriano? Will they be blocked or continue to interfere in the lives of the Good Folks?
And what about the minor, minor one, Whoracio? He is merely a tool in someone else’s hands at present, but could he start to think for himself again—for either good or evil?
And what about the persons who merely impede the path to justice and love, Sal, Tía Becca, Efrain, Consta, what is their fate to be?

We can only hold our collective breaths and hope the Good Folks learn quickly who they are up against, protect themselves and succeed in bringing these criminals to justice.
(But we also beg the telenovela gods to hurry up and have Mauro meet his younger self (as Dr. Guapo) and hope it isn't because of or doesn't cause another heart attack.)

Quiero Amarte (Week 27-Mar 23) They Shouldn't Have Said "IT" Out Loud

Ay, Mauro, you shouldn't have said "IT" out loud. Not that Lucrecia hasn't thought of it before, but honey-bear, you just gave her a free pass when you told her she'd have to kill you first, before you would let Lucio stay in the house alone with her (watch out for those slippery stairs).

Ay, Amaya, you shouldn't have said "IT" out loud. Not that you didn't feel it and Max didn't suspect it anyway, but the hospital hallway just wasn't the right place to tell him you still loved him (can't get him alone?--try the garden again).

Ay, Lucrecia, you shouldn't have said "IT" out loud. Not that it will stop Mauro or Eloisa from acting on their feelings, but telling Eloisa Mauro will never be hers since he belongs to you, divorce or not, will only embolden Eloisa (go girl).

Ay, Ivan, you shouldn't have said "IT" out loud. Not that Cecy doesn't know you have a beautiful, dark-haired wife you are crazy in love with, but asking her (well, ok, in all innocence), if Cecy knows a dark-haired beauty that is occupying your dreams was not a savvy thing to do (nor safe).

Ay, Doctor Guapo, you shouldn't have said "IT" out loud. Not that the Patio Peeps didn't see the resemblance immediately, but when you said you were from Guatemala, but born right in Chiapas, Mauro, Amaya and Lucrecia are in for a big surprise (we hope).

Ay, Cesar, you shouldn't have said "IT" out loud. Not that you aren't a prick, but do you really think your secretary is going to believe you can't stand having trash in your office is the reason she is to dispose of the bag, toute de suite. (she smells a dead rat).

Quiero Amarte (Week 26-Mar 16) The Shoe Dropping Edition

WHO KNOWS WHO KILLED FLORENCIA -- AND OTHER CRIMES
Many shoes are left to be shod or dropped. Here is a non-exhaustive list.

1. Lu’s turning in her sister for the fraud & embezzlement that caused her to spend 5 years in jail – 1 ½ shoes (Elo knows and probably now Juliana)
2. Lu's exposure as the murderer of Amaya's Parents and Godmother – 1 ½ shoes, minus 1 shoe (Amaya knows, Caro knows, Dolores is dead)
3. Lu's creating and prolonging Mauro's depression –  1 shoe (Cesar knows)
4. Lu’s paying Armando to woo, seduce and carry off Juliana 20 years ago –  6 shoes (Armando, Juliana, Eloisa, Directora, Mauro, Max)
5. Lu’s giving Mauro’s investigator false heads in his search for Florencia for years – 1 ½ shoes (Cesar knows, the investigator knows—but he only counts for half)
6. Cesar, in league with Lu cancelling Juliana & family’s air line tickets – 1 shoe and several stockings (Genoveva knows, Juliana, Franco, Mauro, Max, Elo all suspect)
7. Cesar & Aaron (& Whoracio) defrauding Nescafé by submitting false shipping documents and skimming the profits – ½ shoe (Whoracio knows, but can’t do anything about it)

Quiero Amarte (Week 25-Mar 9) Highlights & Discussion

COUPLINGS AND UNCOUPLINGS
(B) At the beginning of our story; (T) In transition; (N) Now, at the beginning of Week 25

B) Max and Constanza, after 5 years apart it was strong, until Max rescues a damsel in distress just before their reunion
T) Max and Amaya, a sizzling, arms-length yearning, love, pledge of eternal love, a number of couplings, a marriage proposal and acceptance (followed by a heart breaking derailment)
N) Max and Constanza, sort of, since he can’t get Amaya out of his head or heart after what he deems a betrayal; he can’t hate Amaya the way he should

B) Constanza and Max, after 5 years apart, their love remained strong in her memory, but her head was leaning toward her fellow university colleague, Salvador, but not her heart
T) Constanza and Salvador, oops, she made a huge mistake (well, two—a Mini-Max is in the oven), still loves Max and Sal needs anger management classes
N) Constanza and Max, she’s in it all the way, making a big play for him for baby's sake, but Max holds her at arms length

B) Amaya and Horacio, unhappy in marriage, but she stays for her daughter Vale, until she can’t take it any more
T) Amaya and Max, met under water, the man of her dreams, he’s committed to someone else, she’s still married, once the impediments are gone, they are a unit, forever (regrettably, forever was only temporary)
N) Amaya and Cesar, determined to bring justice to her wronged, dead family members, she gives up Max “to protect him” and marries Max’s brother, his greatest rival and deadly enemy (only he doesn’t know this part)

B) Cesar only does ho’s, likes to tie them up, shows them he’s in charge
T) Cesar, ditto, although he has plans to “obtain” Amaya as part of his plan to take charge, not of her, but of his father’s company
N) Cesar and Amaya, he married her, been able to get her into his bed to sleep, but not to have sex

Quiero Amarte (Week 24-Mar 2) Highlights & Discussion

Let's Review--Where are WE?
We've been shuttling back and forth between the fincas in Chiapas, the City of Mexico and the WUN finca, La Tormenta.

We've watched a terrified Lucrecia imagining her worst enemy is stalking her. She wants round-the-clock bodyguards, and for her investigator to vite vite find that damned woman. Too bad it's all an illusion. Florencia is nothing but ashes.

We've watched Cesar in a snit because he's imagining the worst of Max and Amaya together. He's heading for the ranch. He doesn't know it but what he is imagining is true. What will he do with the red teddy he saved for her?

We've observed Juliana and Jorge delight in new found love with each other, kissing passionately and sharing a huge chicharron a la Lady-and-the-Tramp. Carolina realizes all is lost when she sees them munching away.

We've been witness to a terrible road accident suffered by Max and Amaya, somewhere on the road to Mariana and Ivan's wedding. All is lost--not even a cell phone. That's ok, we've enjoyed a shirtless Max and have listened to a When-Harry-Met-Sally moaning Amaya.

We're just now seeing, with great trepidation, the arrival of some SUVs full of pandilleros at the town square of the WUN town. Ulises can be seen looking out the back window. The whole wedding party (minus one jealous Cecy) are happy in their innocence. All will probably be lost, but primarily Mariana, unless a miracle saves her.

Quiero Amarte (Week 23-Feb 23) Highlights & Discussion

What Are They Thinking?

Whoracio thinks he will be successful in Negro's get-rich-quick scheme. He thinks it will be easy to get full custody of Vale and doesn't care how much it might cost. He thinks he's within reach of declaring himself to Juli and make her his novia.

Cesar thinks he's got Uli, Max, Mauro, Manuel and Whoracio by the short and curlies AND his mother, Lucrecia by her short and curlies. He thinks (make that, he's sure) he can wear Amaya down and make her physically his--to insure an heir to manipulate and so he, Cesar, can become "legitimate." At any rate, he thinks (make that he's sure) Amaya can never leave him.

Mauro thinks he's achieved a truce between Max and Cesar.

Lucrecia thinks she's convinced Consta to help her get rid of (as in just out of sight) Amaya as a temptation for Max (although Luce's motivation is far different).

Mariana and Ivan think they are getting married in a couple of days.

Cecy thinks Mariana and Ivan will not be getting married in a couple of days, if she has anything to do with it.

Max thinks that by moving to El P. he will be able to forget Amaya. He thinks he'll go to Mariana and Ivan's wedding first.

Consta thinks it's only a matter of time before she can attach herself permanently to Max through neediness, compliancy and a bebe. She thinks it's unfair the doctor won't let her travel to El P. with him.

Quiero Amarte (Week 20-Feb 2) Highlights and Discussion

NEW DIRECTIONS

Our heroes, heroines, villains and villainesses are heading in different directions where they think they will triumph over their adversaries. None of this is pleasing to Viewerville. Please, Sr. Moreno, don't let your writers and directors run this novela off the rails. It's not too late for new recruits to become engaged in this wonderful telenovela.

Let's review:

Amaya-has ended her romantic relationship with bon-bon Max in order to devote full time and attention to bringing his mother's evil and criminal deeds against her family members to light. She feels hypocritical to move ahead with their plans to marry if what she is doing will ultimately devastate him. To finalize the breakup, she intends to begin a relationship with nob-nob Cesar, whose immoral intentions she is now privy to. She plans to use him to get to Lucrecia. This is her new direction.

Max-has just been dealt a blow to the heart. Whether it is terminal or not is up to him. The love of his life, with whom he was sure he would spend the rest of his life, has cut him off with the barest of excuses. Max is not one to sit around with his arms crossed. He's going to get to the bottom of this inexplicable repudiation of his love for her, or he's not who he believes himself to be. He has a host of allies to turn to. This is his new direction.

Cesar-in his quest to be the Head of the Holy Mexican Coffee Empire, needs to secure his position as sole heir to his father's fortunes, dominate the business empire he plans to run and not least, his father's undying admiration (or it could be his dying admiration). He's not above using nefarious schemes to rob his father's company, do his mother's bidding (as long as it's in his selfish interests) and entertain thoughts of eliminating his only rival, Max. In the interim, he's content with taking away his brother's fiancée and marry her himself, despite his mother's objections. This opportunity fell in his lap (so to speak) just last week. Undoubtedly he will act on this swiftly. This is his new direction.

Lucrecia-thinks she has all her ducks well in hand and will pick off the ones that disturb her the most whenever she feels like it. Cesar, her favored child, though having no Montesinos blood in his veins, cannot be trusted completely. She has loved torturing Mauro with unending hopes of finding his beloved Florencia, has succeeded in keeping her son Lucio quiet about her transgressions, Omar permanently quiet, Emma permanently quiet, Juliana on her way to being permanently depressed, and Flavia unbalanced and self deprecating. Now she expects Amaya to come into her sphere and be subservient to her intentions, using her pious grin and behind-the-scenes machinations. This is her new direction.

Quiero Amarte (Week 18-Jan 19) Highlights & Discussion

Dolores Morales de Valdez, QEPD

Dolores left this earth suddenly on January 16, 2015. It is believed from official reports that she was suffering from advanced kidney disease and accidentally fell through a glass partition in the ladies' room of the hospital where she was undergoing tests.

She leaves behind to mourn and remember her, a daughter, Mariana, a goddaughter, Amaya, and Amaya's child, Valeria. She also leaves to mourn a host of friends. She also leaves her husband, Cipriano, who will miss her because she will no longer be around to cook, clean, iron for him, earn money for his vices, nor to abuse physically and mentally.

Dolores was a valiant and stalwart woman, a loyal friend. Though uneducated, her wisdom and intelligence was sometimes beyond her capabilities to utilize. She was a loving mother and protector and believed in the idea that her daughters deserved a better life and sacrificed herself for their advancement.

She lived with and tolerated a drunk and abusive husband because that was what was expected of  decent women in her society in those days. She loved him once upon a time.

Her friend and confidant, the village priest is expected to officiate. Final resting place will be in the family plot.
