Señora Acero... Monday, epi 15

it's payday at the salon but Enriqueta grabs Miriam's (the Colombiana) money,
so Lupita gives Miriam her pay.

Elio gets Sara out of jail,
(and Rita remembers Elio as the guy that put her there)
but he is too busy trying to flirt with Sara to see Felipe and Mariana,
who follow them to Sara's place.

after Junio has cleaned up Aracely, (last show) with a shower (and they kiss), Aracely returns to her place (same building) to dress, (and dreams of wedding bells), awaiting Junio, but her mother Gloria shows up, and they argue.

after Junio arranges for a nurse to take care of Salvador, he stops in to see Aracely, and hey, he knows her mother, he and Vicente did business with her husband, he urges her to give Aracely a second chance.

Elio gets Sara's phone number and remembers it as the number from which the pic of dead Esteban was sent to Felipe.

Mariana and Felipe follow Sara in after Elio leaves.

when Junio, Aracely, and Gloria step out into the hallway, they run into Mariana and Felipe, both with guns, Mariana is bent on getting back at Junio for humiliating her with the pregnancy test earlier but Felipe jumps in front of her and Junio kicks him down the stairs, then he fights over the gun with Mariana, and gets shot in the leg, and as she tries to get away they end up out on the fire escape, Mariana pointing the gun at him, Junio having one of his attacks, but then Sara appears and now the gun is on her, Junio fearing Mariana will shoot, throws his body at her and they both go over the railing, and die on the sidewalk below. (wow, I'll miss these two)

Elio has returned and walks into the middle of this, Felipe slithers along the wall and says he has nothing to do with anything and runs away.

Felipe calls home and tells Josefina that Junio committed suicide and took Mariana with him but Sara helped push her off, Carlota is alarmed, while Berta does an evil smile.

a small Guadalajara crowd, (Sara, Elio, Aracely, Miriam, the shop delivery guy) do a small funeral for Junio, while in Tijuana, the Felipe household have a big formal funeral for Mariana.

and so time passes, Salvador goes to school, Enriqueta starts laundering drug money, Sara starts hanging around the shop, Elio starts hanging around Sara, Indio's business is good with Felipe working the government side, and Berta now in a wheelchair is being groomed for Felipe's old job,

(2 months pass)

and we see Elio stopping a sewage truck that has $500,000 hidden in it, but another guy shows up and takes charge of the money.

(and then a bunch of small talk stuff with everyone that I didn't really get)

and Salvador has a seizure in school...

Señor Acero
Great deb, tks

Pobre Junio, another Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day .
Arturo Barba is always falling off buildings.

Senora Acero

The intro shows Aracely posing in front of a man with a négligée so after Friday's episode I thought she'd bring a little joy into Junio's life before he died from MS. Guess not. Maybe there's someone else planned for Aracely.

Deb
Another great job. I didn't want Junio to die and didn't
expect it so soon, but I can't say that I'll miss Marianna.
The actor who played Junio would be such a hunk if
he'd put on some weight. As is, he'd be perfect for the
role of Abe Lincoln, but I like him, no matter what.
Thank you again.

Fina Estampa

Did Telemundo cancel it? They've stopped airing it for reruns of Los Miserables and Señora Acero. Next week I see that India, Una Historia De Amor is listed for the 12pm - 2pm timselot. I suppose this means that Fina Estampa won't be coming back to finish its run.

Thank you for a wonderful recap. I did not want Junio to die, I guess I was in novelaland-lala. I watched this for Junio, that actor was very good. I am still watching as I'm waiting for Felipe to get his. I like the actress that is playing Aracely, I know she's been on other TN's but first time I have actually noticed her.

Hard to watch Enriqueta, as she was the mother on Pasion Prohibida, reminds me of the loss of Monica Spear. I hope this character disappears soon.

LOS MISERABLES, Monday
PART 1
Lucía is distraught over Roxana's disappearance. She knows the little girl didn't run away. Those miserables Nuria and Roque have taken her. Sor Amparo tries to call her nephew Daniel but he is in the field. Lucía isn't going to sit on her hands waiting for Daniel -- she calls César and asks for his help. Deyanira (Lucha's old friend, a newly ex ex-hooker) comes to the hospital and comforts Lucha. She urges her to have faith.

Leon (the lady cop who has just been bumped from the anti-drug squad) discovers that Daniel has gone on an operativo without his Kevlar vest. She rushes to catch up with him.

Nuria and Roque squabble as they speed away. Roxana lies on the back seat. She opens her eyes and listens. Nuria tells Roque that the girl is pretty and has all her teeth -- you know how much they'd pay for her in Tijuana? Roque doesn't like the sound of that. He pulls the car to the curb and they start yelling at each other. Roxana uses the moment to slip out and grab a conveniently handy cop. "They kidnapped me!" Nuria and Roque speed away, ignoring the cop's orders to stop.

At the Airport, Daniel catches up with his informer, Miguel. Unfortunately, Olegario's goons are right behind him. They open fire. Daniel grabs Miguel and the two run for cover.

In the apartment at the fonda, La Reina, Lucha's sister Liliana puts the final touches on her high-priced hooker outfit. Her mother Fernanda reproaches her for ignoring her dying father and for quitting her job with Radamés. Lily says she's just looking out for her own interests, just as mom always taught her to do.

César promises Lucha he'll talk to his police contacts about Roxana. Before he can make the first move, he gets a call from a local police station.

Roque and Nuria seek refuge at the Faraón Hotel with Gastón, Consuelo's husband (played by Rodrigo Vidal), a recent customer of Nuria's. If he gets her and her "brother" out of this jam, she'll give him a special discount for life. He gives Nuria a wad of bills and tells her to find another hotel. She threatens to out him as one of her Frequent Flyers. He gives in. They can stay -- but only for ONE NIGHT. And NO ROOM SERVICE. NOTHING from the MINIBAR! Of course, they raid the fridge as soon as Gastón is out the door. Roque thinks they should make a run for it, but Nuria thinks they're safer where they are -- who would think of looking for them in a 5 star hotel?

Elena (Lucha's sister, married to the dreadful Radamés Echeverría) goes up to the new gardener Pablo (in fact, the love of her life and now apparently working undercover). She tells him to find another job. He doesn't understand her attitude. He's the one who should be hurt. She says he's the one who went to the United States and never bothered to get in touch with her again. What is she saying? He wrote tons of letters and she never answered them! He called her so many times and she never called him back. She never got any messages!

Elena's mother always answered the phone. He was very careful to leave his number and address. "My mother?" Pablo says he went to the US to make something of himself so he could offer her the best. It doesn't change anything, says Elena. He has his life and she has hers. Once again, she asks him to leave.

Olegario (el Diablo) brings Lily along to his meeting with Radamés. She's not only his "Reina chula," she's his new accountant. And they want to see the books -- the REAL ones. Lily knows all the shady stuff that goes on in the hotel. It's time for an audit.

It's looking ugly for Daniel, his colleague Rodriguez and witness Miguel. They are outnumbered and running out of ammunition. Suddenly Leon appears on the scene with vests and a supply of ammo.

LOS MIS, MONDAY, PART 2

Even the sight of Sor Amparo praying for her doesn't stir Lucha's faith. She is sure that God has forgotten her. "I wouldn't be so sure of that!" says Deya, looking up at César as he leads Roxanita through the door. Lucha hugs Roxana. Then César gets his hug too -- from both ladies.

The social worker arrives prepared to take Roxanita to the Casa Hogar. Sor Amparo begs her to give the child a few days with Lucha. The social worker relents somewhat: she'll have a psychologist evaluate Roxanita.

Better armed and protected, Daniel and Rodriguez resume battle. They try to keep Leon out of it, but she won't be stopped. Poor Miguel is the only one without a vest. The good guys manage to keep their witness safe. They hit a few of Olegario's goons, but the main Narcomobile speeds away. Daniel orders road blocks. He gets Miguel safely into the airplane (whew!). He'll talk to Leon later.

The condition of Lucha's father Ignacio is stable. He rejects Fernanda's offer to help him eat.

Vicky (teenage daughter of Consuelo and Gaston) is disappointed that Octavio (César's son) hasn't been able to talk to his Uncle Daniel about finding Lucha.

The psychologist arrives at the hospital to evaluate Roxanita. César shows up a moment later with an ice cream cone for the little girl. Sor Amparo leads Lucha to the chapel and exhorts her to thank God for returning Roxana to her. Lucha refuses. She doesn't believe. Amparo stays behind and tells God that Lucha is going to come back to Him.

Leon asks Rodriguez to pretend to be her boyfriend so people will stop saying she's in love with Daniel. Then she can get her place back in the squad.

Leon has a plan for getting her place back in the anti-drug division. She tells Daniel she can't be in love with him because she HAS a boyfriend.

Meanwhile Rodriguez is regaling the gang with the story of the shoot-out at the airport. Genaro (the new soplón) asks oh so casually where they were taking Miguel. But before Rodriguez can answer, Daniel calls him to his office, where Leon is still waiting.

"Kiss her, Rodriguez. It's an order." Rodriguez looks confused. Leon grabs him and kisses him. Daniel isn't fooled. But he agrees to let Leon come back to the squad.

Finally, Daniel checks his phone for messages. He sees Sister Amparo's: The girl has been kidnapped!

The psychologist says that Roxana is in shock and is experiencing panic attacks. She needs to be in a place where she feels safe -- namely, with Lucha.

Lucha and Roxana come home to Deya's now nice and tidy apartment. Deya thinks they should celebrate.

At the hospital where Ignacio is recovering, Elena tearfully challenges her mother: "What other lies have you told me, mama? You threw away Pablo Riobueno's letters, didn't you? You never gave me his messages. You never let me know he was trying to reach me. You're the one who separated me from him!"

Fernanda seems unruffled. Why is Elena making a fuss about something that happened so long ago? Sure she did it -- she wasn't going to let her daughter marry a nobody and become a simple housewife like herself. She raised her to be a "reina" -- and that's what she is.

"You ruined my life, Fernanda," says Elena, "just as you ruined Lucha's."

Octavio feels ignored by his father. He tells César he's just like Uncle Daniel -- so wrapped up in his own stuff that he has no time to listen to him.

Fernanda insists she did nothing wrong. Consuelo tries to get them to make nice. Then everyone stares when Lily drives up in her red comfortable. Her siblings are scandalized: how could she buy such an expensive car at a time like this? Fernanda comes to her defense. Elena walks away, disgusted.

LOS MISERABLES, MONDAY, PART 3

Lucha refuses to answer Daniel's calls. She's mad because he ignored Sor Amparo's request for help. César is another story -- she can't thank him enough for what he did. Deya tries to talk Lucha into taking César's wooing seriously. It would make it easier for her to get custody of Roxana if she were with César.

Consuelo catches Vicky trying to steal a few of her father's most precious stamps from his collection. She scolds her and puts the albums back on the shelf. But Vicky has the last laugh: she has set aside a couple of stamps.

Daniel finally finds out what has happened when he comes to the hospital in person and talks to Sor Amparo. He wants Lucha's new address. Amparo hesitates. She wants to know the nature of his relationship with Lucha.

Memin comes to visit Lucha and Roxana at Deya's apartment. He says he's going to be a policeman -- just like Lucha's boyfriend. "He's not my boyfriend!" Memin knows better. Maybe they're on the outs now, but they'll get back together. He saw them kissing!

(I really really like this show!)

Miserable

Thank you so much NM.
The galans in this & Señora have too many similar characteristics,2 cops. I'm really having a problem separating the 2. Thanks to Dios for the recaps.

Octavio looks like a better looking Heiberto from Señor. I checked him out to see if they were related, they aren't.

SENORA ACERO

I'm not watching this tn, but even I didn't want Junio to die. I've only seen a few minutes here and there, plus previews, and it always seemed that he was in danger of dying. Sad to see him go. & Props to you Deb for your daily recaps!

LOS MIZ.

Two great recaps in one night, thanks NovelaMaven!

I wonder if Miguel is going to pop up later, they seem to have spent a good amount of time on his going away to the witness protection program.

Not a fan of Leon, but at least Daniel has one more person to watch his back now that the department has another mole. I like Rodriguez, but wish he wouldn't go along with Leon's dumb plan.

Lily & Olly are obviously baddies, but it's kind of funny to watch them mess with Radames & see his eyes bug out.

Also, glad they didn't drag out the kidnapping. Smart girl in being able to escape, and mentioning Deputado Cesar to the cop.

Most of the time I'm not a fan of Vicky, but at least she's actually doing something to find Lucha. Now I'm waiting to see who and how Lucha will be discovered.

What a wonderful surprise to find your recap of Los Mis.
I love this one and have been in the dark about so much.
Thank you! Thank you. Thank you!

I,too, noticed the strong resemblance between the actors
who play Heriberto and Octavio. At first, I thought the
new one was the same guy.

Señora Acero... Tuesday, epi 16

Salvador has a seizure in school and is taken to the hospital,

Sara, Aracely, Lupita, and Miriam are at the beauty shop, fussing around and chatting, and we hear Miriams' story, (which I wasn't really getting, something about a guy who was running drugs to the states, who gets caught, but she ends up pregnant, and now she is trying to get reunited with her son)

Juan shows up and Sara gets in his face because he doesn't like what he does to Miriam.

Elio finds out the guy in charge of the money he recovered, only declared half of it, when he goes to see him, he still has the other half $250,000 in a satchel that he says he is going to use for another operation, (not sure what the deal is here)

Lupita talks to Enriqueta, she has the money and wants breast implants, Enriqueta isn't sure if she wants to do it but is lured by the money, she makes Lupita promise not to tell anyone and they'll do it tonight, (and something about not eating anything) and after she leaves, Enriqueta finds some giant implants, or something, in her file cabinet.

Sara goes to the hospital, and is met by Elio (who got tipped by Aracely) and the doctor tells them, due to complications of the diabetes, Salvador needs a kidney transplant, Sara quietly says, she doesn't have a cent, Elio later says he'll help, remembering that $250,000.

Lupita is at her place and Joaquin comes by, she wants to say goodbye to her small breasts, and they start making out when in walks Empanada, who's back in town, they fight with Joaquin getting the better of Empanada, until he pulls a knife and stabs Joaquin.

Juan has something going with some guy in the states (not sure what this was about) then visits Miriam, and talks to her about getting her back with her son, which makes her happy, then he snorts something (which is blurred out), his face starts twitching and then he rapes her, almost, as she bashes him over the head, and as she leaves she looks in his bag and it's full of money.

meanwhile Aracely breaks into her mom's house looking for money, what?, and is caught by her brother, who calls her a druggy and a thief, but she can see that he is doing drugs and goes to his room and finds his stash, just as mom shows up, and her brother says it's Aracely's, as her mom kicks her out.

Lupita and Joaquin show up at the hospital, and are seen by Sara and Elio, who get the scoop, Elio calls in that the wanted Empanada is in town, Lupita faints and gets looked at too, the doctor wants her to stay, Elio wants to protect her, but she wants to keep her date with her new breasts.

Empanada shows up at Enriqueta's, who's busy digging up things for tonight's surgery, and after he takes off his shirt, what?, she gets close and works her way down his chest with little kisses out of camera range and we see from his face he is in heaven.

Elio has taken Sara home and as they awkwardly say goodbye, with a kiss, no we shouldn't, but, and then Miriam shows up, so Elio does leave and soon after Juan arrives (who has been calling her phone and tracking the ring) and after another one of those blurred out snorts that twitches his face, he starts beating on the door, so Sara goes out and tells him to leave and when he gets tough, she puts her gun in his face...

the Miserables

NovelaMaven- your the best,
thanks for the recap!

LOS MISERABLES

NovelaMaven, thanks so much for one of your stellar recaps. I won't be able to watch until the weekend so your vivid recaps help me keep up with the show.

I'm so glad they didn't prolong the Roxanita kidnapping and it results in Roxana living with Lucha and Deyanira so she has some semblance of family until tragedy strikes for Lucha again.

That's what I mean when I say I love Victoria Parraga's writing-she doesn't do a plot twist like a kidnapping to create drama, but to push along the plot logically. Roxana's kidnapping leads to Roxana knowing Lucha is her real family before a judge makes a decision only based on Lucha being an ex-con and Deyanira an ex-prostitute.

Los Miserables

Thanks, NovelaMaven, for Monday's recap.

It was nice to see Roxana go home with Lucha. In the real world I think it would hurt Cesar's political agenda to be in a relationship with her (ex-con/narco), but so far it hasn't crossed their minds.

Also glad Leon returned to the station. Maybe after failed attempts with Daniel, she and Rodriguez will actually start to like each other.

I like watching Liliana assert herself with Radames but she's travelling down the wrong path with Oleg. His daughter hasn't appeared in the last 2 episodes which is great since she's not a favorite.

And as someone else said, how long before the siblings realize that Lucha is in town...hopefully before the father passes.

Deb, another great recap. Thank you. Love Roxanna and her little friend. Aracelly too. What a coldhearted------ that
Enriqueta is!

LOS MISERABLES -- martes
(Just to keep this one alive -- I'm not recapping regularly, but hoping that some folks will be inspired to join J desde NYC!)

Part 1

Since Daniel refuses to clarify his intentions toward Lucha, neither Sor Amparo nor Sor Milagros will give him her address.

Lily stands over her father's bedside and opines that he's a goner. Her mother shushes her. Then she asks for the truth about the new car. Lily's not ashamed to admit it's a gift from her super-rich, super-married lover.

What are they going to do about Lucha? Her siblings want to look for her? Let them look -- they won't find her! [Neither witchy woman realizes that Ignacio's eyes are open and that he appears to be taking in their conversation.]

Daniel meets with Millan (his undercover guy at the Faraón Hotel) and gives him the surveillance equipment he requested. Millan plans to hack into the hotel computers too. [Is he maybe a little too confident?] Daniel asks a favor -- could Millan hack into the hospital computer system and get Lucía's address for him?

Olegario is furious about yesterday's airport fiasco. He wants the chance to shoot down the witness himself (Lo voy a coser a balazos, I'm going to riddle him with bullets.)

Lily warns Radamés not to say a word to anyone about Lucha's whereabouts. If he defies her, she'll unleash her dog Olegario on him.

While creepy Gastón is reproaching long-suffering Consuelo for her household expenses, los miserables de Nuria and Roque are swilling champagne and ordering room service caviar on his dime.

Pillowtalk: Millan watches and listens to Lily and el Diablo. He's surprised they are a couple.

Daniel, César and their friend Carlos are hanging out. The subject: viejas (women). Daniel grouses about how Lucha won't take his phone calls. Just then, Millan calls with Lucha's address. Daniel excuses himself -- he'll be back later.

Carlos remarks to César that Lucha must be some babe if both brothers are interested in her. César says he's the only one interested. Daniel is just sounding off about her (despotricar en contra de ella). Carlos thinks César is being disloyal to Daniel by not speaking up about his feelings for Lucha. César disagrees. He's going to wait for Daniel's interest to burn itself out. Carlos thinks César is just kidding himself. He's afraid that the brothers will end up fighting over Lucha. Besides, what Lucha feels for him is gratitude, not love. And Daniel is really in love with Lucha.

Lily has taken offense at el Diablo's attitude. She wants to be treated as an equal. She didn't sign on to be his plaything. He says she's just a bad girl now. To be his equal, she'd have to be a diabla. She has no objections.

Gastón discovers that two of his Austrian stamps are missing.

Vicky hands her Uncle Abel the money she got for the stamps. She wants it used to find Lucha. Abel asks her where she the money came from. Her father gave it to her. Gastón the miser? Abel doesn't buy that story. Besides, the money is unnecessary. He and Adriana have already paid a detective to find his sister.

Gastón tells Consuelo that he's sure their daughter sold the stamps to buy drugs. He threatens to call the police. "Don't you dare!" says Consuelo. He stalks out. "We'll see if I dare!"

While Lucha, Deya, Roxanita and Memin are enjoying a meal together, the doorbell rings. It's Daniel. They spar. He kisses her. The other three look on happily. After several seconds of mutual lip engagement, Lucha pushes Daniel away and closes the door. Through the closed door, Daniel explains away all the misunderstandings that Lucha is so mad about. She stubbornly rejects his explanations. Finally, he leaves. They are done! [Although Deya points out to Lucha that they've barely gotten started.]

Tuesday, Part 2

Millan surreptitiously watches another tedious episode of the Lily and the Diablo Show at his desk in the lobby of the Faraón. Gastón passes by, obviously in a foul humor.

Genaro (the new mole in the department) is given an ultimatum: Find out where they took Miguel. Or else.

Gastón seeks comfort from Nuria. Roque hides in the bathroom and listens jealously as Nuria tells Gastón he needs a "relax."

Daniel pours his heart out to César about Lucha. He's never felt this way about a woman before.

Lucha tells Deya that she's not going to give any man, including Daniel, the opportunity to hurt her. She trusted the wrong man once and paid for it with eleven years of her life in jail. It won't happen again.

"Tell me something, Daniel," says César. "Are you really interested in her?" "You know what? No. No woman should make you beg."

In spite of what he says, Daniel can't stop thinking of Lucha.

César tells himself that Lucía is meant for him and he won't pass up his chance to be happy with her.

Genaro sneaks into the squad room and finds the file with Miguel's destination. The word is passed to el Diablo. Miguel (el soplón) is in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas.

Millan hears the plan to pick up Miguel and bring him back to be tortured. What to do? He follows el Diablo's men out to the parking garage and memorizes the plate number of their van.

San Cristobal: El Diablo's men swoop down on Miguel, put a hood on his head, and force him into their van.

Deya is getting fond of street urchin Memin.

César calls Lucha. She doesn't answer. Deya gives her another pep talk. César calls again. This time Lucha answers. He asks her out. She accepts.

Daniel learns that Miguel has disappeared. "Something must have happened to him." They must have another soplón in the department. Who could it be?

El Diablo's henchman Anselmo reports to the boss that the "the package has been delivered."

César takes Lucha and Roxana out for a surprise.

Millan plants a GPS with microphone in Anselmo's van. He reports back to Daniel. He is still standing next to the van when Anselmo arrives and eyeballs him. Anselmo drives away and Millan thinks he is safe.

Radamés refuses to give Elena any money to help find Lucha.

Consuelo scolds Vicky and tells her to return the stamps. She can't. She has already sold them. She wanted to use the money to find her Aunt Lucha for her grandfather. The abuelo means a lot more to her than her miser of a father. She hands the money to her mother -- Abel refused to take it. Consuelo is impressed by how much the stamps are worth. The cheapskate has invested a fortune in his collection, says Vicky, while his wife and daughter have to live on bread and water!

Elena is in her husband's study. Pablo is also in the house. Why? He claims he was looking for her. She tells him to scram. He does so with exaggerated politeness. Once he is gone, she opens a panel on the wall and enters the code to the safe. She opens it and removes a necklace and a ring.

On the screen of his tablet, Millan follows the path of the van. He notes its destination. He makes his excuses and leaves the hotel in a hurry.

César takes Lucha and Roxanita for a boat ride in Xochimilco. It almost feels as if they are a family...

the Miserables

spectacular recap NovelaMaven!

Millan seems to have a wealth of information that he is not telling anyone and what is his job at the hotel, this thing he does where he is spying on guests, and then walks away from his computer without us seeing if he closed the feed he is watching, is really making me nervous.

he did act like the car next to the narcomobile was his and he lost the keys, but how long is his innocent face going to keep him alive in the narco nest hotel.

Los Miserables

NovelaMaven, thanks again for an excellent recap.

Daniel was desperate for Lucha's forgiveness last night but how will he take it when he finds out about her past.

Why didn't Millan tell Daniel about the Oleg's plans for Miguel? Seems like the kidnapping could've been avoided. And it's awfully risky conducting surveillance work (of Oleg's room) from the hotel lobby computer.

I guess Gaston will have to use his stamps to pay for the excessive charges from Nuria and Roque.

spanish student

Thanks, Deb! And thanks to Variopinta, jlk, Anon Gringa, J desde NYC and Spanish Student for your nice comments on yesterday's recap.

About Millan's job --
Officially, he was hired as a 'botones' or bellhop. I also wince when he gets up from his computer, wondering if he's closed down his surveillance screen.

He DID try to cover himself in the garage even using the norteño 'compa' in his lost keys story. But I wasn't sure Anselmo was convinced.

Do telenovelas ever reward overconfidence?

Spanish student --

"Why didn't Millan tell Daniel about the Oleg's plans for Miguel?"

I had the same question. Maybe he did and since they knew Miguel wasn't going to be killed in Chiapas, they decided to let el Diablo's guys lead them to their bodega (which would be a pretty cruel plan, so maybe not).

Just realized that I confused the characters in Señora
and Los Mis. Roxanna and Aracelly are not in the same novela. Sorry, Deb. There are too many characters in
similar situations to keep them straight, in tbe beginning at least. Thank you for the recap as always.

LOS MISERABLES, Wednesday

Lily triggers the alarms on her father's cardiac monitor by screeching that Lucha is a criminal. Later she tells her siblings she isn't going to help look for the sister -- no, the half-sister -- she has always hated.

It's not clear who Gustavo Millan has been reporting to or at what point he realizes he has screwed up. He knows Olegario's men are going after Miguel in Chiapas, but apparently he does nothing to warn him or the local police.

Daniel isn't in the loop. He learns after the fact that Miguel is missing. He is devastated by his failure to keep his witness safe and fears for Miguel's life.

Millan follows the van to the bodega -- he tells SOMEONE he has its exact location -- and at some point someone has managed to install surveillance equipment inside. Later he sits at home and watches Miguel's torture on his laptop. He can't reach Daniel -- we know Daniel is on a self-pity drunk, miserable over Miguel's disappearance and pining for Lucha -- and his cell phone sits unattended and almost out of power in his car. So Millan does NOTHING.

He sees Oligario enter the warehouse followed by Lily Durán and his colleague Genaro. Now he knows who is the new mole in the department. And he watches as Lily grabs a gun and plugs several holes in Miguel, presumably so she won't have to watch his tongue being cut out. He hears Olegario say he's proud of her. (He doesn't see her puke on the sidewalk afterwards.)

He sees El Diablo spot the camera and hears his threats against whoever is watching him. He doesn't see El Diablo stomping on the camera and vowing to get Daniel, the person he assumes is responsible for the surveillance, or hear his plan to hang Miguel's body from a bridge to send a message...

Gastón the miser has carried out his threat and called the police on Vicky for stealing his stamps. When she realizes the cops are after her, she tries to escape from them on her motorcycle. Unfortunately, Octavio is her passenger, and only Vicky is wearing a helmet. She speeds and swerves and both are thrown off the bike. She seems ok but Octavio is hurt. An ambulance takes him to Sor Amparo's hospital.

Gastón goes back to Nuria for comfort. Roque hides in the bathroom again.

On the boat in Xochimilco, Roxana takes a photo of handsy César stealing a kiss from Lucha. [This will surely look damning in the future.] Later he leaves Lucha and Roxana safely at Deya's place. On his way home, he notices Lucha's purse in his car. He is about to head back to Deya's place to return it when he gets a call about César.

He rushes to the hospital. Vicky tells him what happened and says it is all her fault. César is amazingly understanding.

Octavio hears his father and Vicky at his bedside. He asks why the lights are out. Oh no! The doctor can't say if his blindness is permanent. They will have to wait for the swelling in the brain to resolve.

César's estranged wife Deborah shows up drunk and accompanied by her Boy Toy. She reams out Vicky, blaming her for the accident and calling her a naca. Sor Amparo asks her to leave.

Daniel is oblivious to the fate of Millan, Miguel and Octavio. He rolls up to Lucha's place unseen by César. Apparently, Lucha finds drunk and pathetic appealing. She softens up a bit but tells him he needs to get home. She tries to send him in a taxi. He says he needs his car in the morning, so Lucha reluctantly agrees to drive him. When they get there, she agrees to come in for a moment to see his place. She ends up with an excellent view of the bedroom ceiling.

She wants to tell him about her past, but it will have to wait until he is sober.

Novela Maven

Wow!! Another outstanding recap! You're too kind. I had to keep changing the channel during the torture of Miguel. That much cruelty and depravity is not for me. I
just knew they were going to cut off his tongue. Poor soul.He seemed sort of nice. The sweet scenes between
Lucha and Daniel made up for it though. I love the way
his face lights up when he looks at her. Thanks a million!

Anon Gringa

You're so welcome, Anon Gringa! And I couldn't agree with you more about the torture scenes. A few more of those and I may change my mind about watching this one. That's not really what I signed on for. Though I'm willing to accept the Narco theme as a kind of background of evil, it's really intolerable when it becomes the foreground.

Señora Acero... Wednesday, epi 17

Sara backs Juan down the hallway with her gun, Juan makes a move for it but she knocks him down and Miriam joins in, but Juan changes his tune, asks Miriam to forgive him, he cries, she softens, Sara shakes her head, Juan will give her some time, and leaves.

Elio follows Cortez with the $250,000, and hides as he watches, Cortez gives the money a guy to give to a narco to gain his confidence, and as he is doing so, Cortez jumps out and shoots, his guy is dead but the narco gets away clean, Elio gets the license number and locates the narco who goes into an empty theater and gives the money to another guy, Pedro (Elio's partner, ut oh) and leaves, Elio confronts him, Pedro and Cortez planned the thing from the beginning.

Sara gets a call from the hospital, it's about Lupita, she disappeared before they got the blood test back, and once there the doc tells them, she fainted because she has anemia, which could be harmful to her and the fetus, she's pregnant? Sara, Miriam, and Aracely ask, so where could she be now?

Lupita shows up for her new breasts, Enriqueta knocks her out and with Empanada's help crams a couple of small beach balls into her chest, (did they even wash their hands), later the vet shows up (with Juan) to help with the closing and limit the scars, afterwards with Lupita still knocked out, they all admire Lupita's new breasts, a work of art Enriqueta says, but wait, her blood pressure is low.

and more breast surgery, wait it's Indio's half naked girls putting drugs into baby dolls to import to the U.S., Indio asks Tiburon about Sara, yea, we have a guy watching her.

Elio shoots Pedro in the leg before he punches him and leaves him to face Cortez (who is coming for the money), as Elio walks out, with the money, and on the way to the station our straight cop takes a turn, but arrives with the money to turn in, all $150,000, (shhh the rest is in his car).

at the hospital still wondering about Lupita, Miriam mentions her breast surgery, and in the conversation Sara learns that Enriqueta operates in the back room of the shop, that the two sisters that died were probably her work and that Rita, (her jail friend) was set up for it all, and this all jives with what Rita told her, they head home to get the guns,

the three girls all live in the same building, Aracely's place is open, it's her mom, who has come to throw her out of the apartment and out of her life.

Sara continues on and gets her two pistols, gives one to Miriam in case Juan comes back (she reluctantly takes it) and heads to the beauty shop, Elio calls and Sara has forgotten her phone, Miriam answers in case it's Lupita, and lets him know where Sara is going, so Elio heads that way too, but wait Cortez is standing behind his car with his gun drawn, Elio shoves the money under the seat, they chat, I think each knows the other but the words are all like things are on the up and up, Elio says he turned the money in, Cortez says he shot the other guy because he was betraying them, both with some snarls and snorts thrown in, and finally Elio takes off, and the big guy Cortez, snorts a few more times.

back at the beauty clinic our exhausted team of surgeons (Enriqueta and Empanada) are asleep awaiting Lupita's recovery, meanwhile Lupita with her giant tetas, flatlines...

Señora Acero
tks again deb

I just don't get this breast implant business, don't they all know Enriqueta killed the 2 sisters?
Lupita works there, she has to know Enriq is no surgeon.

Deb
Thank you for clearing up the situation between Cortez
and Pedro. I sort of understood what was going on but not totally. Both Los Mis and Señora were a bit too
gory for me last night. Seeing what was happening to
that naive young woman was hard to watch, and all for
breast implants and Enriqueta's greed.

Los Miserables

Thanks again, NovelaMaven, for an excellent recap. I agree with everyone about the torture in last night's episode and was relieved when Liliana put an end to it all. I understand that Daniel was of no use last night but there should have at least been one other person for Millan to report to. Now I'm worried that Radames will figure out who he is and turn him over to the devil in order to take the heat off of himself.

Thanks to reckless driving, Vicky is now visiting the very hospital where Lucha works. Don't want to get my hopes up about their paths crossing since novelas have a way of delaying the inevitable. Also, I don't think Octavio's going to be as forgiving of Vicky as his father is now that there's a possibility he may be blind.

Senora Acero

Excellent recap, Deb. The surgery was hard to watch. Could they have been more careless? I can't wait to see Enriqueta pay the price for these tacky surgeries. Didn't look good for Lupita but I'm hoping she won't die.

I did, however, enjoy Elio's quick thinking when Cortez approached him. Afterall there was no reason for Cortez (or an innocent cop) to have the gun drawn. On the other hand, Elio has become a thief...stealing corrupt money in order to save a child.

I'm very curious about why Miriam's ex is willing to pay her current beau to encourage her to bring her son to live with them. Apparently legal, shared custody is not an option.

Los Mis:

Thanks again NovelaMaven for another of your recaps!

I could not believe that the undercover cop couldn't think of something to do! Even if to make an anonymous call & say there was a disturbance at that address. I was really hoping they could of saved Miguel. This undercover assignment doesn't seem well planned & I think Daniel said that he would be the only one who knew of it & his only contact.

Since Millan now knows that Genaro is the mole, which I was surprised was revealed so soon, count me in on being worried he gets taken out before he can pass that info on. & about Lily.

Yeah, Cesar was amazingly understanding. Hopefully, Octavio doesn't have lasting damage.

Daniel is going to have a lot to deal with in the morning. I wonder if it'll cause him to pause their relationship, saying something like she makes him unfocused & he can't have that with his job.

los mis.

Side note, I'm liking the shots they show of mexico city in-between scenes. I like the realness of it, if that makes sense. Nice change from the usual scenes we get.

jlk (& I also made previous comment)

Thursday

Gustavo Millan is in a panic. Daniel doesn't answer his phone. Leoncito won't give Millan Daniel's address. He remembers the recordings on the hotel computer and rushes back to retrieve them, arousing his boss's suspicions. What is he doing there on his day off? Even worse, he is spotted by Genaro, the crooked cop. Genaro puts two and two together: now El Diablo knows the face of his enemy.

Genaro also concludes that Millan hasn't told anyone yet: if he had, there would have been repercussions by now. Millan can't be allowed to talk to Daniel!

Lily loses her cool somewhat at the idea that her first murder has been recorded. El Diablo is sure he can control the situation. Lily offers to sound out Daniel. Yes, she knows him (Radamés's daughter Deborah is married to Daniel's brother César). She'll pay him a little visit and find out what he knows.

Under Leon's suspicious eye, Genaro riffles through police files and finds Millan's home address. Then Diablo's goons break into Millan's place and ransack it, looking for damning evidence. They take his computer.

Millan watches from a distance. He knows he can't go back there.

Daniel and Lucha, meanwhile, have a night of mind-blowing sex and wake up convinced that they are in love. Daniel tells her his story:

He was born of a love affair between prominent judge and his secretary. His mother, whom he adored, was killed by narcos when Daniel was only eight. His father sent him away to military school. After his father died, his older half-brother -- Daniel never mentions César's name -- took him in and cared for him. His brother and his aunt, Sor Amparo, are the most important people in his life. His brother is actually staying with him right now while he looks for a place to live.

Lucha says she has a story to tell as well and it may affect their future. But instead of telling the story right then and there, she goes out to buy stuff to cook breakfast. She comes back from the store only to discover her venomous sister Lily has just arrived. Lily gives Daniel a spite-filled version of Lucha's story. Despite Lucha's protests of innocence, he is now convinced that he is in love with a woman with a criminal past -- a woman who is part of that netherworld that murdered his own mother. (He sees the world starkly in black and white, this Daniel Ponce.)

Lucha's heart is broken. She makes her way to the hospital chapel. Sor Amparo finds her there. Lucha tells her what has happened. César comes by and sees them together. He may overhear part of the story -- that Daniel wants nothing to do with Lucha and believes the worst of her.

Lucha realizes that Octavio's girlfriend Vicky is her niece, and César realizes that Lucha is the missing Durán that everyone is searching for.

Daniel gets a call from the Secretario del Gobierno asking him if he can participate in a police conference in Washington, DC. Daniel welcomes the chance to escape. He asks if he can leave right away. Then he calls Genaro --GENARO! -- and puts him in charge while he is gone.

Vicky looks out the hospital window and sees Octavio's mother Deborah storming down the street with a couple of cops. She tells Octavio they're coming to arrest her. Octavio won't let that happen. He wants them to run away. So little Vicky sneaks blind Octavio out of the ward and into a supply room. They disguise themselves in scrubs and manage to make their escape. Later, Octavio calls César to let him know he's fine but that he's not coming back. Somehow he and Vicky make their way onto a long-distance bus.

Consuelo calls Gastón to tell him what has happened. He is once again in the hotel room with Nuria. He brushes off his wife's concern with his usual callousness.

Lucha's father is discharged from the hospital. He asks for Vicky. Consuelo says something about schoolwork, but Ignacio knows she's lying.

LOS MISERABLES -- Sorry, I forgot to label the above. I've gotten spoiled by Reina having her own page. :)

It's probably worth adding a small but telling scene:

Leon kind of stalks Daniel. She drives to his apartment and sees that he and Lucha are together. She is definitely not happy about it.

In a mini-recap like this, lots of things get left out. Please jump in with additions and corrections, folks!

jlk -- I agree about the exterior shots, both the backgrounds that get recycled and the ones where scenes are set. They really do lend a nice feel to the story.

NovelaMaven
I missed most of Daniel's story except for the fact that
his mother was killed by a narco. I knew that César was
his brother but not how it came about. Thank you for
filling in the blanks for me. That Lily is such a jealous
witch! Such nerve to call Lucha trash in light of her goings on as of late. Much appreciation for the recap.

Señora Acero... Thursday, epi 18
part 1

Lupita dies, while the Empanada and Enriqueta sleep,

Sara arrives at the beauty shop, Empanada recognizes her from a photo Tiburon showed him, (Indio wants her found and followed), Enriqueta wants him to get rid of Lupita's body while she stalls Sara.

in wild woman mode Sara shoots out the glass in the front door, demands to see Lupita, Enriqueta stalls, tears in her eyes, then knocks the gun out of Sara's hand, and the fight is on, Sara knocks her to the floor with one punch and continues beating on her remembering all the beatings she has taken, but Enriqueta lands a good one to the face stunning Sara while she and Empanada get away. Elio arrives and helps Sara, they find Lupita's body in the back room, he calls it in.

Empanada is remembering the sweet Lupita, in the car, while the beat-up Enriqueta is getting her stuff from home, he's not happy she killed her, they head to Juan's where her money is.

Aracely is totally bummed, digs out her drugs and gets totally zonked, Miriam finds her and takes care of her, she answers a call from Juan, who's snorting coke and wanting her to forgive him, as Enriqueta and Empanada are banging on his door, Enriqueta wants her money, which he threw behind the couch before letting her in, it's not here he says.

cop Cortez calls his real boss about the money, Indio is not happy, Cortez gives him Elios' name, (I didn't get the other business they talked about).

Cornelia shows up for work, is there clean glass in this door, or no glass, Sara gets the drop on her, Elio is off to Juan's where Enriqueta was spotted, Sara stays to guard Cornelia.

wild woman 2, Enriqueta, demands her money, starts knocking Juan around, who grabs her by the throat, gasping for air, her tongue sticking out, she calls for Empanada who slowly walks over, Empanada hands her the car keys walks, and she gets Juan to lay off, but then she lays into him again, give me my money, comes at him with a broken bottle, but Juan is too tough for her, she breaks away again and just leaves, if only she can get that door unlocked, with no door knobs.

Sara calls Miriam, did you find Lupita Miriam asks, Lupita is dead, Sara tells her while still holding Cornelia at gun point, as Empanada casually walks in, Sara remembers his face from the wanted poster, he admits to helping, he'll be a witness against Enriqueta, who's off to the hospital to hurt your son, what? Sara freaks, and runs out, good acting Cornelia tells him, no it's true.

Señora Acero... Thursday, epi 18
part 2

Juan's back with his coke (so odd they blur this out) when Elio arrives, he stashes the money and tries to clean up his coke mess by spreading it around, then lets in Elio, no I don't know where she is, as Elio gets a call from Sara, and he leaves for the hospital.

Juan meets this guy who has a fake passport for Miriam's boy, and pays him. (earler he gave him some money and an address in Colombia)

Sara arrives at the hospital, but no Salvador, she freaks, as Elio arrives, they head to security to watch the video tapes, passing Joaquin, he asks about Lupita who won't answer her phone, later Sara says.

Joaquin calls the beauty shop, Cornelia who's getting rid of evidence with Empanada tells him, she's dead and so is your unborn son.

Juan goes to see Miriam, she hides the pistol Sara gave her and lets him in, he shows her the passport and Miriam hugs him, he wants her to move back in with him, no I need to watch over Aracely, who's eyes have been rolling around the whole show, and gets a call from her mother in Cali, (I didn't really get this but I think someone is trying to kidnap her son and bring him to Mexico where there is lot of money), Miriam doesn't get it but Juan looks like his plan is working.

Joaquin arrives at the beauty shop and finds Lupita's body, he remembers that day 8 weeks ago on the hood of his car overlooking the city where Lupita talked about her dreams of being famous and he wanted her to have his kids, and they made love.(was Sara also 8 weeks when she lost her baby)

back at the hospital they see on the tapes Enriqueta headed to the laundry with Salvador in a basket, later we see they are playing a game, but Salvador takes off her mask an sees she is his mother's boss and not a nurse, Elio and Sara are on their way but first Elio wants Sara's gun, he knows how crazy she gets when it comes to her hijo, and as they split up Sara spots Enriqueta heading for her car, and puts a bar in the door so she can't close it, so Enriqueta gets out, face to face, where is my hijo, Sara demands...

Deb
PLEASE let that darling little boy be OK. I think he is since they show him and his mom folding clothes in the
intro. Thank you for the great recap.

Anon Gringa

Thanks again, to both Deb and NovelaMaven for excellent recaps.

Los Miserables
It doesn't appear that Millan will avoid the inevitable especially now that Daniel is leaving town without checking in with him. He seems to have a knack for not answering important calls or leaving his phone(s) behind. [I totally missed the scene with Leon spying on them.]

And it's a shame that Vicky and Octavio left before they could learn that Sara works in the hospital. Now the "good" Durans will have to use their investigators to discover what the evil mother and sister already know.

Senora Acero
I was sooo hoping Lupita would survive. But it was not only funny to see Sara slap Enriqueta silly but to also hear Enriqueta describe her beating in detail. She deserves the worst after the botched surgeries (murders) and kidnapping a child.

Great recap NovelaMaven! especially on such a happening episode.

No wonder Millan looks inexperienced, he's a civilian! (which was why Leon wouldn't give him Daniel's home address). I assumed that because he worked for the IT of the police department he was a cop. Smart of him to get out of that hotel quickly, but yeah, looks likes he's going to face the inevitable. I don't know if it was of any importance, but Millan ran into Memin (who wanted to shine his shoes) while he was walking around town trying to figure out what to do.

I'm curious to know how old Vicky & Octavio are suppose to be. Running away seems like something Vicky would do, but I expected more smarts from Octavio, I guess he has the head injury excuse. Those two are finally starting to grow on me as a couple, and not to be weird or anything but there's something I like about the sound of Octavio's voice.

& Did anyone notice that when Daniel went to get his phone from the car, the camera slide to the foot space of the passenger seat? What were we suppose to be seeing??

Anon Gringa, I'm glad you found the 'recapette' helpful. The actress playing Lily (Aylin Mujica) has always irritated me in the past (the wicked woman with the deceptively soft voice, the hugely enhanced lips and Jessica Rabbit body), but here she seems to have toned it down vocally and visually and is much easier to take. [Maybe Aracely (Lucha) has a clause in her contract that as alpha female, she is the only one with exuberant boobage.] Whatever. I'm admiring Lily's path to complete EVIL. :)

spanish student, I wonder if César will reunite Lucha with the "good" Duráns to score points with her.

jlk, thanks for mentioning Memin's encounter with Millan. Don't know what it means, but good to tuck away for future reference.

I thought we heard earlier that Daniel had TWO cell phones and wasn't answering either one. Wasn't that the second cell in the car -- maybe the one to be used exclusively with Millan?

I could be mistaken, but I had the impression that Leon called Millan a "civilian" because she had seen Daniel "fire" him in the staged blow-out that freed him to go undercover.

I try not to think too hard about the plausibility of what happens in novelaland, but it's hard to believe these not exactly inconspicuous teenboppers will get very far. Or I hope they don't -- the kid needs to be in the hospital!

NovelaMaven, yep that makes total sense about why Leon called Millan a civilian.

I've never seen the actress who plays Lily, but agree. Although she's a villain, she the type of villain that's interesting to watch.

Maybe Aracely (Lucha) has a clause in her contract that as alpha female, she is the only one with exuberant boobage LOL! They sure do love to put her in spaghetti top shirts.

jlk

NovelaMaven
I agree that Aylyn Mujica is toned down in this one, and up until two nights ago I thought she wasn't quite as evil.
WRONG! I wonder what she's like in real life. Her last
husband usually plays a villain too, but I kind of like him.
I enjoy your comments and of course appreciate your
recaps.

Señora Acero

I'm struggling with the spanish but I was at the library today and watch some of the scenes with english captions and it cleared up a few things for me.

Juan and Miriam, these two are a couple, and according to Miriam, everything is fine except when Juan snorts his coke, he turns into an animal and ends up beating on her. She wants to be reunited with her son that she hasn't seen in a long time, but she doesn't want to bring him to Mexico and into that relationship she now has with Juan. Juan, who has Enriqueta's money for some reason, has other plans, he hired Oscar to get a fake passport for the boy so he won't have any immigration problems, and to do a little job in Columbia where the boy is. Later when Miriam gets the call from her mother, she learns that someone did try to kidnap the boy, and she wonders if someone thinks she has a lot of money or what, but Juan says to her, we need to get the boy here now! I'm not sure what Juan is thinking, part of it is to get Miriam back, and with the boy there he would be able to control her better.

also when Elio was warning Juan he said, I hear you beat your wife, and if you do it again, you are going to have a problem with me.

something else is when Empanada was gone, he was working for Tiburon who showed him Sara's photo, yes I know her, so Tiburon sent him back to be her shadow, but be careful, she is really dangerous, she has already killed two of my best guys, Tiburon says, and Empanada asks who he is really working for, but Tiburon doesn't answer.

as far as the Cortez/Indio chat, they have known each other for a long time, but I'm still not sure if the original money was Indios, and Cortez was getting some of it back or what, but anyway Cortez says Elio is on his list, no, he is on MY list, Indio says, and Indio was thinking about moving his business to another town but Cortez brings up that the other cartels will think he is weak, and so he reluctantly doesn't change things.

Deb, thanks for the additional info which makes some
things clearer. You and NovelaMaven are greatly enhancing my enjoyment of these two novelas. I went
through withdrawals after Lo Que, my all time favorite,
ended and was unable to get into Reina and La Malque-
rida. Now I'm pretty much hooked on these two.

Señora Acero... Friday, epi 19
part 1

after a short brawl, where Enriqueta grabs the pipe and knocks Sara down, Elio arrives with gun drawn, arrests Enriqueta, and with Sara, they are off to find Salvador, who's in a giant washing machine, soaking tub, or something, filling with water, and yank him out.

Joaquin leaving the shop after mourning over Lupita's body, is confronted by Empanada with his knife, you took my girl and got her pregnant, but Joaquin gets the best of him and gets the knife only to give it back saying kill be now and end this pain I am feeling, then quietly leaves.

Enriqueta arrives in prison, sharing a cell with Rita, ut oh, but she looks like she can hold her own, later she promises the cell phone lady (a born again Christian that killed 5 guys) money tomorrow if she can use the phone today, but no one answers her calls, they are all traitors she says.

Elio has a present for Sara, a bag full of cash, (says he borrowed it from a bank) enough so Salvador can go to a clinic in L.A., he's melting the ice with Sara.

Cortez facs the PGR file on Elio to Indio, who later gives it to Tiburon, I want this guy followed, but don't touch him till I say, he knows a lot of important people, later Tiburon gives the job to Empanada who is asking for some money.

Empanada convinces Cornelia that unless she betrays Enriqueta she will rot in jail too, join Juan and me, I have a plan, later we see Empanada burning the evidence she gathered and Cornelia tells Elio that she will testify against Enriqueta and gives him Enriqueta's book on the surgeries, her contacts, and her money laundering, but denies being part of any of it.

Juan comes to see Miriam, wants her to move back with him but she won't leave Aracely, after he is gone Aracely tells her, your addiction to Juan will only go away when he kills you.

Felipe has bought the confiscated Acero ranch and put it in Berta's name, when Josefina later asks why he didn't buy it for them (it has a pool) he has to explain why it wouldn't look right and the election is this Sunday, when Berta will be the new mayor.

Juan talks on the phone to Arnulfo, Pepito's (Miriam's son) narco father, the fake kidnapping in Colombia was good, it will prepare Miriam for when they do kidnap him.

Marcos shows up at the beauty shop, Elio tells him it's closed, and he says yes, I'm the building owner and it is closed, so all of the girls are out of work.

we see quick scenes of Elio at the police station getting testimony from Cornelia, Juan, and Marco for his investigation.

Sara comes home, and Miriam tells about Juan being there 3 times asking for forgiveness, see, he can change, (Sara shakes her head), and about her getting Pepito, but don't tell Elio about the passport.

Señora Acero... Friday, epi 19
part 2

Aracely, who is now homeless, is on the street and goes home with a guy, next morning his wife shows up unexpectedly and she is lowered out a window wrapped in a sheet with her clothes to follow, I don't think she even got paid.

Elio shows up at Sara's with roses, they reminded him of her, pretty flowers with sharp thorns, but clarifies, the flower is so pretty he doesn't mind the thorns, he's making some good progress here, they sleep together, life is good, later Salvador asks her if his real father would mind if he had another father (Elio).

Elio talks to his new guy about the cases and about Pedro, (who Elio shot so it would look like he got mugged) when a video arrives, they all watch, it's Pedro being tortured to find who stole the money, when he doesn't talk, his throat is slit, but Cortez is watching Elio, and Elio knows it was Cortez doing the killing, they later have a confrontation in the hallway, that Elio's new partner breaks up.

Sara gets a call from Salvador's school, they want to expel him, he is a danger to the other kids.

Miriam has returned to Juan's place, fixes him a nice meal, he has a surprise, another passport for her and tickets to Colombia to get her son, and her suitcase that he fixed, that we saw earlier, he took apart and lined it with money.

Enriqueta gets to use the phone again, no one answered she explains, eventually gets a hold of Marcos who wants nothing more to do with here, but Enriqueta forces the issue by saying she will tell all if he doesn't lend her some money, so he agrees, but later calls someone, find a guard that can shut someone's mouth and I will give her a small fortune.

later, as Enriqueta is alone in her cell after a shower, a guard shows up holding a knife behind her back, are you Enriqueta...

I'll have Friday's recap up by tomorrow morning. Thanks NM, for this week's wonderful recaps.

Señora Acero

hmm, wiki is saying there are 65 capítulos,
and we are at 19.

LOS MISERABLES CAP 14 VIERNES 10/27/14

César clarifies to Lucha how he knows she's the long-lost daughter the Durans seek. Your sister Elena is married to Radames Echeverria and I'm married to his daughter(Deborah) from his first marriage. My son (Octavio) is Victoria's boy friend and they ran off together because deborah filed charges against Vicky for causing the accident and Octavio is trying to protect Vicky from the charges. He won't return unless Deborah drops them; but knowing her she won't as she'll use this
situation to punish me.

Lucha wants to be kept apprised of the situation since she wants to see her niece and goddaughter badly. 'There's so much to tell her,' she says wistfully .

Daniel is leaving for the police conference in the USA from that janky regional airport both he and the bad guys use. (Since he's leaving Mexico, wouldn't he have to use an international airport? But I digress.) Genaro, the sóplon, comes along to say goodbye and Daniel leaves him in charge of the department and tells Genaro to keep him updated on all departmental happenings.

Genaro is surprised Daniel still doesn't know he's the sóplon or about the video recording his sóplon activities and says as much to Oleg (El Diablo) when he calls. He tells Oleg that Danny-boy ran off to D.C. for a police conference over a woman (asunto de faldas) and Oleg is surprised a supercop like Danny could be that weak over a woman. Nonetheless, Oleg hopes Danny enjoys his heartbreak (despecho), because when Daniel returns he'll give him something meaningful to cry about. Danny's absence and cluelessness about Genaro gives them time to find out who was recording them. Liliana is listening to this convo and makes a concerned face which leads oleg to ask if she likes the commandante, or what? Lily tells him of course not but she needs to go home and rest as her father was released from the hospital and she wants to see him. Oleg calls her a mama's and papa's girl (hija de papi-mami) and wonders why she doesn't rest there at the hotel with him. She wants a proper home as she's not a hotel-room woman (mujercita de hotel). She could've fooled me as she and Radames only had their affair at the hotel.

At mansion Mondragon, Deborah and Cesar are arguing about Octavio as Deb wonders why Cesar isn't hunting for Octo with 1000 police officers. Cesar asks her when will she learn that everything cannot be accomplished
with force. Octo is in love with Vicky and all she has accomplished with the charges against Vicky is Octo and Vicky running away like Romeo and Juliet. Deborah calls Vicky a low-life(pelada) that she will kill with her own hands. Radames and Elena walk in the mansion at this time and Elena wants to know why Deb is insulting and threatening her niece.

Aaron Diaz ...

Telemundo is remaking Pasion de Gavilanes and Aaron will play the "Juan Reyes" character in the new novela titled Tierra de Reyes. So far, they haven't announced who will play the "Norma" character.

LOS MISERABLES CAP 14 VIERNES 10/17/14, PARTE 2

Radames tells deb and Elena to calm down and speak rationally; of course Deb refuses as she says Elena stole her father and now her niece is stealing her son from her. She'll make sure Vicky rots in jail. Radames didn't know about Octo and Vicky running away but agrees with Deb that if Octo's condition worsens while he is on the run, he'll sue Vicky as a delicuent. Elena defends vicky saying that she and Octo are two kids in love. Why would Deb want to ruin their lives? In the meanwhile, Cesar reflects back to when Octo was younger and he figures out Octo and Vicky are at the family beachhouse as that's Octo's favorite place in the wholewide world. Cesar comes back to earth and tells Elena not to worry about Vicky. If Radames and Deb team-up against her, he will legally defend Vicky against them. He walks out the mansion leaving them to argue.

Hablando del Rey de Roma, we see vicky and Octo at the beachhouse sitting by the pool cuddling. Octo reports that he can see the lights.

At Deyanira's and Lucha's more girl talk as Lucha explains how Lily told Daniel about her past leading to Danny breaking up with her. Lily is hateful and still envious of you, Dey declares. How could she say such things to Daniel? Cesar also calls Lucha then and invites her to come look for Octo and Vicky as he knows where they are. Lucha agrees. Officer Leon shows up and Lucha tells her she can run to her great love's arms (Daniel) and dance for joy as she and Daniel are not an item since she's an ex-con. When Leon tries to gloat that Lucha is a criminal, Dey tries to wring Leon's neck but is stopped by Lucha.

Gustavo finally figures out he should just go over to Daniel's place and hand over the flash drive showing Miguel's murder. Of course, he encounters Cesar who just arrived there himself and found a note Danny left saying he's in Washington. Gus is exasperated and visibly scared learning this fact and hands the flash drive to Cesar with strict instructions. Don't ask or look at the flash drive as the less Cesar knows yhe better. Make sure you give it to Daniel as our enemies are finally spelled out on the drive. This is a matter of life and death. Gus then asks Cesar for a loan so he can run away and hide. Gus also tells Cesar to leave Danny's apartment after he does since he could've been followed.

Danny arrives in D.C., charges the iPhone and finally sees his very important messages:nephew had accident and went blind; Gus' cover got blown and he has info to share. Dan quickly calls Gus but can't reach him.

Radames warns Deb to back off from Octo. He's a young man and needs space. If she pushes him too hard he warns ' Va a acabar cansandóse de ti.' He'll be tired of you.

LOS MISERABLES CAP 14 VIERNES 10/17/14 PARTE 3

While Radames tells Deb to back off Octo, she notices Pablo the gardener playing with the escuincle (brat) that is her brother. Radames reminds her that the escuincle is her brother-half-brother she notes quickly-and she slithers away to flirt with Pablo. Radames follows behind her and tells Pablo to not play with his son; his focus shoul be the garden.

Gus takes a cab from Danny's place and is followed by Oleg's thugs who, when the taxi stops, shoots the driver and grabs Gus. Cesar views the flashdrive for a moment but we don't see what he saw. He gets a call from Octo and proceeds to win the 'most patient father of the year' award. He promises no one will harm Vicky and tells Octo he's so proud of him. He knows he's at the beach house and will come there to get him and surprise both he and Vicky. He also promises to be a better father and friend to Octavio.

The torture of Gus begins. The same cast at Miguel's torture is there, including Liliana. Oleg tells Gus he's definitely gonna die but Gus decides whether it's a 'slow death' or a quickie based on his revealing who has the recording of Miguel's murder. Gus, with his beautiful back, puts up a good fight and says nothing through being hit with a stick to his stomach, his nails being removed with pliers and electroshock. Liliana on the other hand is disgusted and asks Oleg why he doesn't just tell her certain things like this instead of compelling her to be there. Oleg reminds her Gus is the one who recorded her killing Miguel so it's in her best interest to hear the info Gus could reveal since she's involved in this matter up to her neck.

The Durans introduce Ignacio to the PI investigating Lucha's whereabouts. He reviews the basics: imprisioned in Texas, earned nursing degree, deported to Mexico, she's in DF but he can't track her so easily as the city is the world's biggest. But if you waited 12 years, you can wait a bit more. We will find her, the PI 'assures.

Cesar picks up Lucha to go to the beach house and on-the-way reveals who knows Daniel Ponce broke her heart. Lucha doesn't deny it and Cesar still doesn't reveal Dan is his brother. Lucha wonders why Danny doesn't believe her version of her life story while Cesar did. They get to the beach house but Octo and Vicky aren't there. They returned to DF to get Octo to the hospital since he has severe headaches. Cesar wants to go back to DF to see Octo but Lucha tells him he needs to sleep since he could kill someone if he's excessively tired.

Gus finally breaks after the third round of electroshock and reveals that Cesar has the video.

J desde NYC, what a fabulous recap! Thank you! And thanks too for the sprinkling of Spanish phrases and the Who's Who info to help us keep the story straight.

I guess we shouldn't be too surprised that things are getting darker and darker. We signed on for a tragedy, right? (Or at least a melodrama.) But those torture scenes are too much! The main story would work without them, but if they have to be included, must they be so looooooong and graphic?

Maybe Lily, as a would-be Diabla, has to complete Desensitization to Brutality & Sadism 101, but I don't. I fast forward or change the station when those scenes come on. I guessed that Millan finally gave up César's name, but I didn't know for sure until I read J's recap.

LOS MISERABLES

I actually don't think the torture scenes are that graphic. They darkly light thise scenes, don,t shiw so much fake blood and show the onlookers as disgusted by it. I liked the fact that Liliana and Genaro look pretty traumatized after each desensitization session. The writers are showing tthis isn't cool. I was more focused on Gus' beautiful back. It's really toned

LOS MISERABLES

J, I agree that the authorial point of view is clear and that the scenes themselves could have been more graphic. There were more horrifying scenes in La Reina del Sur, for example, although they seemed much more intrinsic to the story than these do.

I just can't let go of the idea that Telemundo is pandering, hoping to goose their ratings by shocking us.

Thanks to Deb and J desde for the great recaps. I
HATE the torture scenes and also change the station.

Thanks Deb and J desde NYC for your recaps.

Los Miserables
I was disappointed in Millan who committed the biggest betrayal by giving them Cesar's name. They told him he was going to die anyway so he could have lied to protect Cesar. And after hearing Aron Diaz's voice advertising the new novela, i'm wondering how long he'll be in Los Mis.

I'm confused by Aracely's actions since she wasnt exactly homeless with 2 friends in the building. And Empanada is not just Enriqueta's servant but is working for Indio too.
