Hasta El Fin Del Mundo #60 11/7/14 Irma Sells Out

Old:
Marisol takes her books to Lucas' house to study.
Chava tells Lupe' that he got hired as a stunt driver for a commercial.
Paco runs in to tell Lupe' and Chava that Cuco's place was robbed.

New:
Armie packs his things. Irma tries to convince him to stay, but he's had enough. Armie tells her that Nandito is okay with what's happening and she should stop trying to use him to manipulate the situation. Irma says, "You have no feelings."

Greta is upset that Oliver came to the mansion to give Dani her school lessons and she's nowhere to be found. Sofia comes in and tells her that Dani has gone out with Alexa. After Oliver leaves, Greta tells Sofia that she's so proud of her! Sofia is the only daughter who has been manipulated and guilt-tripped enough to do what's expected of her. Work hard to keep this family of layabouts financially solvent.

Dani arrives at Lucas' house and Marisol answers the door. Dani is crushed and runs off crying.

At Cuco's, everyone is upset about getting robbed. The thieves took everyone's money and belongings and still trashed the place! Chava tells them it's time to stand together and do something about what's happening in the neighborhood.

Fausto interrupts Sofia's Chava-centric daydreams. She's been telling herself that she can't possibly have a future with Chava so she asks Fausto to help her plan her wedding to Pato. He agrees to help but tells her that a wonderful girl like Sofia should take her time planning her wedding. Like two or three years. Sofia doesn't get the hint.

Paco, Armie and Chava go to the police station to tell Fuzzy Tavares that the neighbor hood is having a vigilante meeting. Good for them, I'm from Montana. We love vigilantes!

Miguelina comes home and finds Lucas and Marisol in a near kiss. Marisol realizes she won't be getting any sugar with Miguelina around and decides to go home. Miguelina asks Lucas what's up with Marisol? Wasn't he just about to kiss her? Lucas says that they were only studying and that the near lip-lock was just a lesson in elocution. If Marisol was actually his girlfriend he wouldn't let Miguelina's presence stop him from kissing her!

Dani and Alexa arrive back home. Greta screams about Dani missing her lesson. Alexa tells her they went looking for office furniture. Greta doesn't buy it. Even though she's never been to the Ripoll factory she's pretty sure it has furnished offices. Alexa and Dani are amazed when Sofia comes to their defense. After Greta stomps off, Sofia gives her sisters a hug and says they need to stick together.

At the neighborhood meeting, the crowd recounts the neighborhood woes: Two girls were robbed, Paco's store was robbed with Chava knocked unconscious, Hermanita's house was burglarized, and now Cuco and his customers were robbed. Some people have already sold their homes, businesses have closed and there are few jobs. The place is going to Hell faster than Detroit. They are losing their neighborhood! It's not a coincidence that all this is happening while someone with money is trying to buy up all property! Someone is behind this and that someone is Mauro Renzi!

Armie tells them how Renzi let it slip that the first people who sold got lots of money for their homes, but the last ones to sell with be lucky to get anywhere close what their houses are worth. Araceli tells the crowd that prices always go down in crime-ridden neighborhoods. Armie shouts that they all need to be united to save the hood! Tavares will start a surveillance operation to help make the streets safe. Araceli has her own theory about who the mob boss is - it's that blond menace, Sofia Ripoll! Chava defends Sofia. He worked for her. He knows that if she needed more land to expand the factory she'd deal with people face-to-face.

Back at the mansion, Sofia is having more Chava dreams. Should she postpone her wedding? Pato will never allow it. And neither will Greta. Hey, Sofia. It's your wedding. You can do anything you want. If Pato's in a hurry to get married, let him marry Greta. I can't think of two people who deserve each other more.

Irma calls Renzi. She's having marital problems and needs to get back to work. He's not interested. She promises if Renzi rehires her she won't fail him again.

Back at home, Lupe', Chava and Armie tell Matias about the meeting. They all agree that someone is trying to scare them out, but they will stick together and fight.

Armie goes back to pick up his stuff. He tells Irma to be careful when she and Nandito go out because the hood is getting dangerous and her former boss Renzi may be the one behind the crime wave. She poo-poos the idea. Paco didn't lose much when his store got robbed and Chava only got hurt because he stuck his nose in where it didn't belong! She tries to talk Armie into staying but he leaves in a hurry.

Javier the drunken Dirtbag, stumbles to his apartment. He can't seem to get the key to work in the lock. The landlady comes out to say she changed the lock. Javier hasn't paid rent in 10 months and she's not letting him stay another day. He makes another drunken promise to pay her tomorrow. The landlady has heard that mariachi tune before. She tells Javier to haul his sorry butt somewhere else and runs him off.

Armie left without supper, so Lupe' offers to make him some dinner. Armie hated leaving his son, but he just couldn't live with Irma for another minute. Chava excitedly tells Armie that he got hired as a stunt driver for a commercial. Armie wonders if Chava has recovered enough to drive after getting whacked in the head by the robbers. Chava assures Armie that he's good to go.

Next day at the office, Sofia tells Silvana that pregnancy agrees her - she's absolutely glowing! Pato eavesdrops at the door. They talk about the baby. Sofia asks if maybe she and Pato can be the baby's godparents? Pato walks in and asks what they are talking about. Sofia says, "Women's stuff." Silvana excuses herself and Sofia asks if Pato knew about the business congress. Sofia is going to attend and wants Pato to go with her. He tries to get out of it, but Sofia insists. He takes her in his arms, "Well this could be an early honeymoon for us." Ooooops! Sofia looks sick.

Marisol goes into Dani's office to get an advance on her pay. Marisol needs the money and asks Dani not to "forget" about her request. Dani assures Marisol that she'll take care of it.

At the mansion, Alexa discovers that Armie has already taken Dani and Sofia to work. Greta asks Alexa if she is really serious about her job because it involves things like getting up early and actually going to work. Alexa assures Greta she is serious, she just needs some time to ease into the whole work thing.

Sofia asks Armie how Chava is doing. He tells her that Chava is doing stunt driving for a commercial. Armie is worried because Chava has been having dizzy spells. He'd like to go keep an eye on his buddy. Sofia thinks that's a good idea.

Chava gets ready for his commercial with a new haircut and a fancy tux. Yes, he cleans up nice.

Irma goes to Renzi's office to pester him to get her job back. She tells him the neighborhood is really on edge. There was a meeting about the robberies and the everyone thinks that Renzi is behind the crime wave. Renzi can't believe it! Not only that, Captain Tavares has pledged to keep an eye on things. Renzi decides to give Irma her job back, but ... she has to act as his informant and keep him apprised of what's going on. Irma is reluctant at first, but when Renzi offers her 10% more, she quickly agrees.

Chava is shown the car he'll be driving in the commercial. It's a red Ferrari! He thinks about taking Sofia for a ride in it. Meantime, Armie and Sofia are on their way to watch the commercial shoot. Sofia wants to watch from a place where Chava can't see them.

Chava and a model get into the car. He does donuts with the car, then races it around the curves. The girl looks scared, she holds on for dear life, first to the dashboard, then to Chava. Armie and Sofia watch.

Renzi calls Pato and tells him the police are investigating the robberies. He'll have to cool the crime spree for a while. He also re-hired Irma, Armando's wife, to keep an eye out for him on her neighbors as well as the police investigation. Pato asks about his favor. Renzi is getting what Pato asked for. Pato should be able to use it tonight.

Lupe' and Paco don't know what to think about who is behind all the violence in the neighborhood. Paco just wants to get married to Lupe' in the place where's he's always been. Just down the street, the drunken Dirtbag Javier is pounding on Lupe's door. He's back and he wants in!

Chava brings the car to a stop. Everyone crowds around and congratulates him on the incredible job he did. The model hugs him tight. Sofia watches from a distance. The model poses with Chava and takes a selfie. Chava's phone buzzes. He looks down at it, then back up at Sofia.

End of Episode.

Recap is up! I did not get to "pre-watch" this episode so if I left anything out, please feel free to add it to the comments.

Dani: you need forget everything about Lucas & don't look back.

Lucas & Marisol deserve each other!

Xlnt, the recap was excellent.

Most annoying part of the episode:
How do you spell B***h? A-R-A-C-E-L-I. !!!!!!!!
I could not believe that she would bring up Sofía Ripoll as a possible culprit in the neighborhood violence. It is hard to think that she and Chava were ever together she is just so stubborn and unpleasant.

Best part of the episode:
The Chava makeover and commercial filming.

Funniest part of the episode:
Old drunk Javier with his dyed 'stache and hair trying to get back in at Lupe's place.

I hope Chava and Sofía make good on their time together.

Jarifa

Xint, as soon as I see your name, I smile in anticipation as I know we are in for a fantastic recap. And once again, you delivered another home run.

"Work hard to keep this family of layabouts financially solvent" was great but my hands down favorite was "Fausto interrupts Sofia's Chava-centric daydreams". Most excelent!

"If Pato's in a hurry to get married, let him marry Greta. I can't think of two people who deserve each other more" - now there is a creative pairing - misery does indeed love company :)

Marisol is a little minx - she was very deceitful in not telling Lucas Dani was at the door. I think her lie proves she has much more in common with Lucas than Dani does. I wish Marisol would take him and leave. They are both annoying and are taking up valuable screen time that I, uhhh, I mean we could be watching Matias.

Now I like Miguelina but how does she think Lucas will be able to take care of her and her medical expenses. He can't even take care of himself.

"Sofia is the only daughter who has been manipulated and guilt-tripped enough to do what's expected of her". You nailed it Xint, that is exactly it.

Irma becomes even more unlikeable.

Jarifa, you are spot on about Araceli - no wonder she and Irma are cousins...

What do Pato and Renzi have up their sleeve?

I wonder if Chava's headaches are an indication of what is to come. I imagine DZ's first episode must be coming up soon. Cynderella?

Xint, thank you!

Diana

How long before we start seeing the body count ?

I agree about the best part being the commercial. What I loved was when Sofia blurts out to Armie how handsome Chava is.

2 or 3 weeks out until D.Z. sightings in the U.S.

Thank you very much, xlnt!

David's supposed to appear in Mexico episodes 17 Nov, IIRC. So a couple weeks after that, according to the lag people here reported.

If someone is interested in more Pedro Fernández, his successful "Hasta Que el Dinero Nos Separe" is available in whole episodes on You Tube. I'm up to about Episode 22, and so far they are all there in order.

Episode 1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quebjAIuFzE

It's in typical lousy You Tube quality, so you may want to get the recaps that were posted here at Caray. Jane (Melinama) did the first one herself, and it's great.

I'm glad I don't have to worry about Pedro making it all the way to the end of that telenovela.

Unfortunately, Silvana thinks Patricio is unaware of the baby; so if he tries to poison her, she won't be suspecting him -- or maybe even suspecting that it's a poisoning attempt.

So we will have to put up with her blissful ignorance of his evil for a while yet. I look forward to the day Silvana gets wise to him.

That would make two attempts against Patricio's account: he tried to kill Chava in the abandoned factory fight. The story might deem Patricio death fodder. Ok by me; I don't understand him. He has no good ethical qualities.

Oh, yeah; if Sofía isn't able to talk Patricio out of the wedding, I expect he would try to knock Sofía off, too -- because she'll never turn the business over to him.

There was a scene in a restaurant early on where he suggested she stay home and have babies after they're married, and she stood up and walked out on him in a fury.

Salvador's going to have to save her from Patricio again probably.

Excellent XInt

"Work hard to keep this family of layabouts financially solvent."

How typical Greta continue to surf on the back of a Fernández.

"I'm from Montana. We love vigilantes!"

Others have mentioned how PF has grown on them, me too. I didn't get it at first and didn't pay attention much but as I started watching the frog with a mullet and his princess I lament in advance his loss. He does all the hard lifting, the stunts and unlikely successful wooing, the director calls cut, and the cutout galan steps in for the close up. During and after that commercial Sofia (me too) finally really saw the prince. Boo hoo

Marisol is a nasty little skank. Surprised she is related to Salvador.

"finally really saw the prince" Exactly. It will not be the same with some steroid fag replacing a real human Chava.

Thanks, Xlnt. Fab recap. My favorite: Araceli has her own theory about who the mob boss is - it's that blond menace, Sofia Ripoll!

Araceli needs to face the fact that Chava is just not in to her anymore, whether he gets Sofia or not. Araceli, remember you're a lawyer and making accusations in public without an iota of evidence makes you look dumb and desperate. You're a cut above Irma, so act like it.

Chava's makeover was buenísimo. I want that hairstylist. They could've trimmed a bit more at the neck though, but I guess they didn't want to give Pedro a shock so left a wee-bitty trace of the mullet back there. Add me to the table that will shed a tear when Pedro is no longer here.

I vote DZ's first take in Hasta be a shower scene. But with so many people moving in with Lupe, when will he get a chance?

Kirby Johnson, although everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, I find your use of "fag" to be extremely offensive. Do you use the N-word as well?

Nooooo. Sorry replace fag with homosexual-looking and we will all be happy.

Cynderella, I didn't get a chance to comment on your great and hysterically funny recap of Thursday's episode. Thanks for the pix of Armando! :)

I am really going to be angry if Pato is able to slip Silvana drugs and force her to miscarry her baby. I agree with you Jeri, Pato's on my "squash him like a bug" list.

I really have to wonder about the death of Silvana's mother. The scenes of Silvana and Christian finding her body show her with a bullet wound to the chest. It seems unlikely that it was suicide. Shooting yourself like that would be awkward. I still think she was killed by someone else.

We don't actually know if Silvana and her brother are Octavio's children. The fact that their mother was his lover and their father has never been mentioned are all the clues we have so far.

Just a gentle reminder: Please remember that your comments here are PUBLIC and anyone can read them. There's an old adage: Don't say anything that you wouldn't want published on the front page of a newspaper. It applies here too.

I'm black. I didn't see where Kirby mentioned anything about the N-word. What did I miss? I find it offensive when people bring up the black people in every conversation about gays. You have to tell people that your gay or who you slept with last night. I don't have to tell anyone my race. Two different things my friend!

Kirby, Sophia is visually impaired.

In Dulce Amor the Salvador character is a slut. I think the only reason he is good in Hasta el Fin del Mundo is that this Salvador is homely. Marisol and her brother are alike in Dulce.

I took a weird class once. The teacher said that statistics say that women will not kill themselves with a gun. If they do, it's not a shot to the head. Women are concerned about how they look...even in the casket. I can believe that she wouldn't shoot herself in the head. She wants to look cute the casket. Of course, I don't know if Mexicans have opened caskets.

How about just kill off bratty Marisol.

Pondering the death wound of Silvana's mother is a good idea -- especially in light of how it's a mirror image of Greta's prominent sculpture in her workroom: the white torso with the hole in the heart.

Before thinking about Silvana's mother, I assumed this sculpture was about Greta herself and Paco. But the image of Silvana's mother with a bullet wound in her heart is much more apropos as a comparison.

If Silvana's mother did not kill herself -- who would want to kill her? And if Greta's sculpture is in reference to this wound, did Greta kill her or know who killed her?

Personally, I don't think Greta is capable of murder; it might be accidental, like with a struggle for the weapon. Or maybe Octavio did it; was he that evil? It doesn't sound like it. His daughters still love him.

Or did Greta just find out later that the woman died that way and has one more thing on her conscience?

I feel confident that if Greta suspected Silvana were the daughter of Octavio's lover, she would not want Silvana anywhere around, let alone in charge of an important department at Ripoll.

But the fact that Silvana did insert herself into the company is one thing that makes me think she might be Octavio's daughter. Yes, she did want revenge; but also she's very handy to save the company if she wakes up to reality in time.

Also Silvana's in the appropriate place at the end if she is the heir. I don't know if Greta would suspect Silvanas's Octavio's daughter or not. If she did, it could be another explanation for the over-the-top hatred she has for Sofía, who may have usurped her place. I don't know how old Silvana is.

Discuss -- but in rowdy voices like at El Lugar de Cuco last episode. Just kidding :D

OOPS! I mean I don't know if Silvana thinks she's Octavio's daughter.

It's a pain that we can't edit these comments sometimes.

I didnt. Hey this is a light hearted telenovela forum where things get about as loose as they do in the telenovelas. Some people go through life looking for someone to blame their uhappiness on rather than seeing the fun in everyday life. Comments about the fictional characters are just for fun. And thanks for seeing the big picture. There is a chasm between a tongue in cheek comment about a soap opera character and outright racism and biggotry. kj

On my Filipino mother's side of the family, we've had open casket funerals and want to look perfect in the casket.

Kirby, I understand. I'm just pointing out that everything's offensive to someone. I know that you didn't say anything about race. I was just trying to make a point. Let's all go back to having fun!

This thread, and one a couple of days ago both seem filled with hate for Marisol.

Why? Because she didn't announce a caller?

Of the two ladies inexplicably infatuated with Lucas the grifter, Marisol isn't the one who has been lying to him throughout their entire relationship... ok, until she was caught anyway. Lucas and Dani aren't married, aren't engaged, and in fact, Dani has expressed her disgust with Lucas clearly enough to mark him as "fair game." She may be conflicted and not really have meant it, but even if she had some sort of squatter's rights, she had renounced them.

What has Marisol done or said to evoke the distaste? She has been honest and direct. She has wooed him with such underhanded tricks as... cooking for him and studying together.

The failure to announce the visit wasn't attractive, but hardly a major sin. It's not like Lucas is in hiding so that Dani won't have ample opportunity to reach out to him on other occasions.

I just don't get it. What am I missing that Marisol has done that's so wrong?
Chris in FL

Chris, I'm awaiting big anvil for Marisol.

I don't have any problem with Marisol at all but don't get why these girls want Lucas, well except for the bod. I want to like Dani, but she's just too spoiled for me and don't like her wearing that stupid hat askew.

I don't think Greta would kill Silvana's mother just because she was having an affair with Octavio. (unless she really did love Octavio or felt threatened he would leave her and she then not the queen bee. I don't think protecting Paco the only reason Greta married Octavio, there has been a huge upside to her marriage to him). If she was worried about other heirs, maybe but doubtful. I think it could have been Octavio. There was a threat to disclose Silvana and her brother his and he didn't want that or perhaps she also knew Sofia was Paco's child or knew about the theft of the recipes.

Even though Silvana told Pato that she hates Sofia, I'm not feeling that it's real hate. Instead, I'm feeling that it's resentment of Sofia because her wealth and position got her Pato. But I am feeling hate from Silvana for Greta. I don't believe Silvana thinks she is Octavio's child though, namely because when she was at the engagement party at the Ripolls she didn't thought-bubble to herself that the mansion, servants, etc. should've been hers.

I hate to see Marisol chase Lucas. She's like an octopus -- cooking for him, inserting herself in his spats with Dani, sticking to him like glue at work, and blocking Dani from seeing him. She initiated a big kiss on the dance floor, and he hasn’t followed it up with nada. The near-kiss in his apartment was again initiated by Marisol. If only she would just chill and let Lucas make the next move.

If anyone wants to rewatch the supposed suicide scene, it's in Episode 9. I'm looking at it on HuluPlus.

The kids' mother is laying on the floor by her bed with a bullet wound through her heart -- and the gun is in her hand. The brother looks very young.

At the beginning of the series, we find out that Octavio died and willed the head of the company position to Sofía five years earlier.

But this suicide looks to be at least ten years before present, so at least five years before Octavio's death; what do you think...?

EDIT: "lying" not "laying"

A shame to see hate speech now being permitted on this forum. Need every place on the internet be reduced to this level of discourse?

tofie, that's a very good point about Silvana's mother being a threat if she knew about the theft of the recipes.

In the death scene, she's wearing a white coat of some kind; I can't quite make out if it's just an ordinary coat or not.

And the place where Silvana and her brother and mother apparently live does not look impoverished.

The murder or suicide would have taken place when Sofía was 20 or so if my reckoning held up; old enough to notice things.

Sometimes I wonder why Alexa has such panic attacks and if there are events in her childhood as La Chica Ripoll that are charged with some kind of fear.

Hi RG,

I don't understand what you mean by "hate speech is permitted". Xlnt, reminded them that they are in a public forum. I think that she allowed free speech...not hate speech. She reminded them that what they say is out there for everyone to see their opinions.

When I watch the original telenovelas, the characters keep their characteristics. If they started off smart, they pretty much remain smart throughout the TN. In the Mexican remakes, the bad guys are smart. If a bad guy becomes good (Lucas), he becomes dumb. He doesn't remain shrewd. Sophie and Silvana started off smart, but once they fell in love, they now are kind of dumb. I don't get it.
