TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: REINA DE CORAZONES -- PAGE ONE -- Week of November 10, 2014
Jean
My dear Reinamaniacs:
Hold on for dear life! Our wild ride is careening to a premature end! We have, what, two weeks to go? It looks as if tonight and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday) will be triple episodes and then we'll get doubles right up to the end.
We have two new crazies in the mix -- Alicia aka The Cobra and Secret Agent Number 69 aka Julio César Blanco.
We left Moto and Laz in the middle of their hastily contrived civil wedding. What's wrong with Moto? Is she having a panic attack? Or is there something more nefarious going on?
We met and said goodbye to the Mysterious Emperatriz Picasso all in the course of a night or two and learned about her quasi-incestuous past with FELS-PELS-GELS.
We discovered that Big O was an impostor -- Original Recipe Big O had been locked away in a psychiatric hospital for years!
BSC Estefanía has conquered her fear of guns and shot her way out of the manicomio!
Asunción finally knows that FELS is her long-lost son Gregorio Pérez. Unfortunately, before she has had a chance to process this knowledge, she has been kidnapped by Crazy Agent 69, the writers' writer who can no longer draw a line between reality and fiction.
And now, the Queen of Hearts herself has fallen into Crazy 69's clutches!
Will the Dragon save the day?
Monday recap of Capitulos 113, 114 and 115.

I am already wearing my full-body beanie and am ready to buckle myself in for tonight's wild ride!
And her aim was shockingly accurate, too! LOL
As for tonight...wow! Maybe Reina will remember everything in the opening credits. (I mean what else does she really have to know?)
They announced that Tierra de Reyes will premiere on Dec. 2.
Is that sled's name Rosebud?
Doris I've wondered about the sled, too.
Jean, I'm just settling in to enjoy the first installment of the recap. oh la la!
I notice you didn't use a jumpbreak. Could you put one in so we don't get yelled at for hogging the front page of the blog? Thanks, amiga.
Kelly
This was a tough one to watch, never mind to recap, even with the additional scenes. This must be where the writers were really being pressured to move the thing along.
Project Hoopiter? Mysterious mind-altering drugs? Hints that Victor had Reina controlled in the mansion by injecting her periodically with something?
So are we to suspect that Victor and someone in the CIA (like say, the latest villain, Mauro Montalban) are in cahoots?
The scene where Moto describes her Victor fantasy, while predictable -- we all knew she was talking about an autopsy -- was still pretty funny. "Algo es algo."
I keep hoping ORBO will get up the courage to go to someone and tell them about Estefi. But who can he trust? Esmeeth! Will he ever get to see her in person?
Welcome back! I hope you had a great time in Mexico! Yes, all hell has broken loose in your absence. Maybe now that you're back, you can talk some sense into these nutjobs...
oh wait... they're not real, are they?
:)
I'm sure you are right that Vic's mysterious contact in Washington is MM. I hadn't thought of that.
I was thinking that the drug Vic was giving Reina was keeping her from getting her memory back. It certainly didn't control her.
I can't believe how much plot they've ladled on. New bag guys, new plots.
Navier's head in the box was pretty funny, though.
Vintage Jean:
" Clara tells Asun that her new heart is strong because it is the heart of a queen and a dragon. [No, the heart she got from the queen and dragon was no good]."
And next, you'll be arresting Clara for driving without a Poetic License!
" Izzy asks Victor if he is concerned that Reina has been out of the house for months without her “medicina.” Victor replies that he will take care of that."
It seems to me that was a crucial 10 second clip. Why oh why would they cut that? Or are they going to cut the whole thread?
I'm surprised that the Cobra wasn't craving rusty nails -- or live mice.
We see Estefi after a beating and then hear nothing more about it except the flashback implying that it was the cost of doing business. Maybe the customers at the antro agreed that she was a little "long in the tooth" for the pole...
Good for Izzy for refusing to pick a number -- now all he has to do is TELL Navier that Victor has the damn list!
------------
I'm so mad at Telemundo, but I can't look away!
Penny
JCB’s head got “same day delivery”? Wow, FedEx delivers, or was it “brown”? Even though it was local delivery, that’s still pretty good service! I wonder if the package had online tracking.
And how does chauvinistic egomaniac Christian know that HE is not shooting blanks? Dude, don’t blame Connie. (And we are *all* thanking the telenovela gods that she has not conceived.)
Izzy looked like he’s getting sick of Victor, when he refused to “pick a number.” Hurry, Izzy! There’s still time left for a bit of redemption. Maybe you can earn purgatory instead of a non-stop ticket straight to hell.
Penny - I had the same thought you posted, regarding Esmeeth’s poufed up hair from the jewels auction.
Executive Dragon did not look happy at a desk job. How can dragons rescue damsels in distress when tied to a desk??? Pobrecito.
I've got a new beanie body suit ("Brown" delivers!)and my hat has new chinstraps on it. Bring on tonight's capítulo! WooHoooooo! :-D
I hope we find out what Victor has over Reina that made her return. Is this where Reina jumps the shark? Aaack.
Connie asked Cristian last night if his wife had ever gotten pregnant. He answered yes, but she lost the baby at 5 mos. of pregnancy. They both agree he's not the one. But then, I thought very poignantly says maybe she doesn't want a baby with him (like Jean said).
NM et al. The Rosebud sled was so prominently displayed last night that I also was going to mention it. My children's sleds are in the attic, not in my bedroom. Maybe the folks at Telemundo think it's a clever nod to weather in Madrid *unlike* Las Vegas, and they couldn't find snowshoes or snow tires to put in the corner.
My first thought when they showed Navier's fake head in the box, was "Wow! Whoever made that should be working for Madame Tussauds!"
Do not tell me that Reina is falling for Victor's trick yet AGAIN that if she plays nice or sleeps with him, he'll do something good (like leave Nav alone, or stop killing people on the list). She better surprise me this time and pull a gun on him, or kick his a**. Something, anything! Except let Vic slime all over her, and she begs him "por favor" to do something, while she cries. Ya! Basta! I'm ready for bada** Reina to come back!
It was funny to see Executive Navier finding out that being the boss isn't as fun as being a rogue agent and doing whatever you want.
I don't see how FELS got to resign and do what he wants. He should be in the CIA prison for hiding that he is the brother of a target of an investigation.
I keep hoping that the penny will drop for Dra Moto - Victor knowing her code names and making the agents on the list public. It doesn't seem like that big a leap to me.
Laz clearly seems to be interested in more than a platonic relationship with Dra Moto. Time for Greta to come back!
funny you should say that, Jean. I was just thinking that it looks as if Greta isn't coming back, and maybe FELS isn't either. Then again, going by my track record...
How many Nerfazos will I get if I admit that I kind of like Laz and Moto together?
Penny
You could be right that neither Greta nor FELS is coming back but at a minimum, Laz has to find out that Agatha is Greta's baby.
Penny I like Laz and Dra Moto together, too, so no Nerfazos from me.
Does anyone know (I'm ducking Nerfazos here) what the song is for FELS and Smeeth? I like it.
I'm starting to think this novela is for a younger brain than mine. I can't keep up! Don't remember, nor care much, how Cobra got the 4th diamond. I'm thinking the offspring of Cobra and Vic would come out with horns and a tail.
I'm sure they're going with Reina going back to Vic to save the rest of the secret agents. Bah!
I enjoyed Izzy's Pablo Escobar speech to Christian. If anything happens to Connie, both he and his sister are toast!
I'm about to travel again, and thus to be totally dependent on the recaps. Normally, I'd be unhappy, but I'm so fed up with Telemundo's mangling of the telenovela that I no longer care. At the novela's start, it was fun to try to follow the breakneck pace of the action, but the cuts have turned fun into frustration, at least for me. If it weren't for the amazing efforts of the recappers to piece together the missing parts, plus the wonderful insights of many commenters, I'd probably have stopped watching. Thanks to CarayCaray, the novela is still alive, but on life support.
This episode finds the whole gang back in Las Vegas. (We'll have to imagine how they got there.) We are whipped from one short scene to the next, each one chock full of tasty chunks of plot. Yum.
Tuesday, Part 1
CIA Headquarters
FELS, wearing a ghastly... no, let me start again. He's not El Supremo. He's not even Fernando. I think I'll call him Picasso. (Or just Pat?) Okay. Picasso, wearing a ghastly combination of maroon jacket, striped shirt and plaid tie, strolls into Navier's office unannounced and unexpected. He just got in this morning. Why didn't he let Navier know he was coming? Why should he? Is Navier his girlfriend or what?
Whiplash cut to wherever Estefi and ORBO are crashing.
Estefanía is busy packing up a painting. The Ghost of Sara show is just about ready, she tells the old man. ORBO takes offense: Sara is no ghost. Estefi stands corrected. Sara may once have been a fantasma, but now she's real and she's going to appreciate his art.
And whoosh to the De Rosas Mansion
A toothsome young maid hands Victor an envelope. The Cobra eats chocolate and watches him closely.
Cut to Reina's old house, now Juanjo's place.
Susana has packed her suitcase. "I'm moving out," she tells Juanjo. She is leaving his house and his life.
Whoosh
We're back with Estefi and ORBO as they get ready for his exhibition. ORBO says it's traumatic being back after so many years. Everything is so different now. Estefi bemoans the fact that Navier has her house -- and everything else she used to own.
Cut to the CIA.
Navier stares at a screen in the room of many screens.
Esmeeth joins him. Why didn't Navier tell her that Picasso was back? Navier just found out himself. The big bosses sent him to help with the problem of the agents on the death list. Is she afraid of working with him? Not at all. Esmeeth is a professional. If she can work with Navier, she can work with anyone.
She has two envelopes, one for each of them. They have both been invited to an art exhibition.
Whoosh! Victor's Sex Pad and Film Studio
Reina sit, arms and legs crossed, a hostile expression on her face. "Why did you ask me to come here?" she asks Victor. He answers her question with a question: "What are you prepared to do to stop those agents from dying? -- So Moto or Esmeeth or Bolívar don't wake up dead?"
She doesn't really care about agents in general, does she? She only cares about Navier. Reina says they both know he won't hurt Navier. If he does, the evidence against Victor will come to light and he will end up in prison.
Quick cut to ORBO rummaging through his suitcase and pulling out a familiar manilla envelope.
Cut back to smirking Victor. Is Reina sure that the evidence even exists? Maybe it was another of his father's tricks...
Swoosh! Cut to Connie and Izzy.
He's been thinking. He can't be apart from her. He's tried -- and with all kinds of women. But she's the only one he loves. He pulls her into his arms as the notes of their song swell.
Cut to the monument to more money than taste, the Pérez-Hidalgo-Bolívar Mansion. It's dark out. Navier and Picasso sit on the couch in the front room. Navier's phone rings. "Hola mi amor," drawls a familiar voice. "Remember me? Your wife, the murderer?" Picasso, meanwhile, furrows his brow and trains his beady eyes on Navier. "Estefanía" says the latter, "Where are you?" "Close, much closer than you imagine." "We have to talk," he tells her. "Soon, very soon," she agrees. She ends the call.
Navier tells Picasso that Estefi is back and she's capable of doing anything.
Cut to Esmeeth warmly receiving Clara and Asunción in her apartment.
Cut to Victor in his creepy sex pad with Reina.
He raises a glass and proposes a toast. She pours the contents of her glass into his and tells him he can drink alone. Suddenly she clutches her head and seems to be in tremendous pain. "These headaches!"
She has a fleeting image: she is in the mansion with Victor and sees him pouring drops in her drink.
Victor asks her what is wrong. "I'm starting to remember the last eight years of my life," she says. "Before we got married, you were poisoning me." Wow. Victor wasn't expecting that one.
Cut to that Odd Couple, Picasso and Navier.
"What do you mean, she's not in Spain?" says Navier. That's what his sources tell him. Reina, Clara and Asunción took a taxi to the Madrid airport and caught a flight from there. Navier is incredulous. He spoke to Reina earlier and she said nothing about it.
Cut to Victor and Reina in the creepy pad.
He thinks she might be better off staying in his place for the night. Reina wants to be with her daughter. Victor offers to take her back to Esmeeth's house. Speaking of whom -- Victor just got an invitation to the opening of an exhibition of paintings. And the artist's muse is none other than "our dear Agent Smith."
Cut to ORBO.
He is wiping shaving cream off his now beardless face. She is primping to go out -- she has to dig up a dead body, she tells him. (And no, that's not a metaphor, dear reader.) He has to be the ONLY Big O. There can be no traces left of the impostor, not even underground.
Whiplash
Picasso confirms for Navier that his women flew to Las Vegas.
Cut to Esmeeth's apartment
Esmeeth is puzzled by Reina's hasty decision to return to Las Vegas. Did she come back to be with Navier? No. She came back to be with Victor. "Are you crazy?" asks Esmeeth. Reina says she had no alternative. Victor has the list of agents. If she doesn't do what he wants, he'll keep killing people.
Navier calls Reina. "Where are you?" She tries to tell him she's still in Spain, but he already knows she's back in town. So she lies and says she's in a hotel. She's confused by the things she's remembering. She needs time to be alone and think. Navier needs to see her. What hotel is she at? No, they can talk tomorrow. She ends the call.
Cut to Pérez-Hidalgo Mansion
Navier tells Picasso about the conversation. Does Navier think she could be in danger? asks Picasso. Did Reina sound frightened? No, she sounded sad. What's going on?
Cut to Juanjo's house.
A glammed up Yolanda knocks at the door, then flounces in unasked and announces that what he needs is a real woman. She throws herself at him. He waves his arms in a gesture of helplessness.
Susana enters the room at stares open-mouthed at the sight.
Cut to Christian's Office at the LVPD.
Connie tells him she wants a divorce.
Cut to Moto's apartment.
She and Laz are on the way out. She is holding a yellow folder that is probably important. They open the door and find Picasso on the other side of the threshold. He says he is back for good.
Swoosh Cut to Esmeeth's apartment.
Cobra (who now looks as if she has swallowed a mongoose) introduces herself to Reina and Asunción as the mother of Victor's child.
Cut to the Art Exhibit.
Estefanía, wearing a particularly tacky blue dress that leaves little to the imagination, welcomes her three special guests -- Esmeeth, Navier and Victor. Directing their attention to the many images of Esmeeth, she tells them she's not the artist, but she had a lot to do with the show. "What's going on?" asks Navier. "Is this some kind of trap?" It is, according to Estefi, simply a display of art. And behind the work, there is always an artist... This is the cue for ORBO to step into the spotlight. The three guests look as if they have seen a ghost.
Victor is the first to speak. "You can't be back. You're dead!"
"Miracles exist," counters Estefi laughingly. But Victor insists that this man is not his father. Navier is still asking for explanations. Only Esmeeth is silent. Estefi eggs her on. She's a trained investigator. What does she have to say?
"I don't know what's going on," admits Esmeeth, "but I don't believe in miracles and I don't believe in ghosts."
Navier assumes that Big O must have faked his death. How did he do it? ORBO just chuckles a trademark Big O chuckle. There will be time for explanations later. Today they are here for the art.
Cut back to Esmeeth's apartment.
The psycho Cobra just wanted Reina to know. Cobra wanted a son, the son that Victor never had -- and never will have -- (bwahahaha) because this child is hers alone.
Cut to Moto and Picasso.
What does he want from her? He doesn't even love her. She's important to him, he tells her. It's over, she says. Definitively. "Because of the boy? Because of Lázaro Leiva?" Yes, because of him.
Cut back to the art show and Esmeeth looking smashing in a black dress with white bodice and red sash.
Victor saw all these paintings in the psychiatric clinic. That's where Big O was hiding, says Estefi -- in the very place where Navier locked her up. Big O says he was in Room 222. He bumped into Estefi there... and they decided to join forces.
"It's all a lie!" insists Victor. "I am Octavio De Rosas -- and that's the truth."
Estefi stops the exchange right there. She just wanted them to know they are back and they are together. She takes Big O's arm. The officers aren't going to stop her, are they? Navier says he has a lot of evidence against her. One day, he'll put her where she deserves to be. "The place I deserved to be was in your heart." She tries to make her exit. Navier grabs her roughly. Is he going to kiss her? "I'm going to kill you if you don't tell me everything about the list of the 179 agents."
Cut to Christian and Connie.
Does Connie want a divorce because of that animal Izzy? No. It's because of Connie herself. She has tried to be a good wife, but it's no good. She doesn't love him.
Cut to the De Rosas Mansion.
Victor glowers. He tells Izzy about the art show -- the painter was his father, the same man he killed! And he was with Estefi! Grrrrr.
Cut to Juanjo and Susana.
Susana has to believe him! What's more, he knows how Yolanda found out. She heard him talking on the phone to the therapist. (So let's guess that they are in therapy because of Susana's recurrent trauma brought on by the scuzzy shrink's attack.) He would never have told her something so intimate. Susana believes Juanjo. But Yolanda is right -- he needs a woman like her, who comes without all the emotional baggage. "It's over, Juanjo. And this time, for real."
Cut to Moto's place.
Laz and Moto return in a festive mood. She is holding the yellow folder she had earlier. The hearing went well (for custody of Agatha, we assume). They still have to wait for the judge's official ruling.
Cut to the De Rosas Mansion.
Estefi walks in, a look of great satisfaction on her face and ORBO on her arm. ORBO's face looks like the wrath of God. Victor asks them why they are there. "It's my house, son," says ORBO. "And we came to stay," adds Estefi.
Cut to Esmeeth's apartment.
It's like a child's music box. When Reina opens the door to Navier, their song starts to play. But not for long. Navier is hurt that she has been avoiding him. He doesn't understand. What did she remember that is causing her so much confusion? "This" she says, holding out a journal. "Read it. You'll find out what I really thought, what I was really like. You'll read how I had the chance to get you out of jail but didn't because I was overcome with ambition and a desire for power. You'll find out that I was relieved when I thought you were dead...because I was trash. I saw you as a threat."
Why is she so anxious for him to read it and see her in the worst possible light? Where did she find the diary? Did Victor send it to Madrid? No. Asunción found it, she says, chewing on a fingernail. She had kept it hidden away.
Navier agrees to read the journal, but first he's going to say hello to his daughter. He hopes she uses the time to think and then will tell him the truth.
Cut to Esmeeth in the CIA office, Evening.
"Tomorrow we exhume Big O's body," she tells someone on the phone. (Of course, the Patio knows that sneaky BSC Estefi already dug him up!). Picasso joins Esmeeth. She tells him about the new power couple in town, Faux O/ORBO and Estefi.
Cut to the study, De Rosas Mansion.
Victor wants to talk to his father alone -- without Estefi. She leaves, but reluctantly. Victor asks ORBO something only his real father would know: What did he give Victor on his 18th birthday?
Cut to tormented Reina.
She flashes back to Victor handing her a blank journal and telling her to write what he dictates. [Hey, wait a minute! That just happened ten minutes ago in his Sex Pad and Film Studio!]
Navier comes out smiling after his reunion with Clara. "Let's see what you made up, Reina Ortiz," he says as he settles on the couch to read the journal. I'm not going to have a wretched life with a parking valet who has nothing to offer me... I was born a queen and I deserve to live like one... I waited for you naked, wearing only a ruby necklace... and you made love to me for hours... -- for hours? That's fiction, right?"
Reina grabs the journal back. Isn't it obvious why they can't be together? She is garbage, unscrupulous, ambitious, unethical... she's like Victor! Navier doesn't believe a word. (And the proof is that the music box starts playing again.) Reina is his woman, his life, she is everything to him. What does she remember when he kisses her?
Cut to the De Rosas study.
ORBO is more than prepared for the Pop Quiz. For his 18th birthday, he gave Victor a $77,000 Colt revolver (accessories included).
Cut back to Reina and Navier.
She resists his kiss. He knows there is only one Reina, the woman he loves. She says she's not so sure. She still needs time alone, time to think. She asks him to leave. He walks toward the door and then circles back to her. He takes her in his Dragon arms. Cue the music box.
Cut to Moto and Laz.
They've had a few glasses of wine and they are toasting. "To Laz, the best cook in the world!" "To Moto, the best slicer-up of disgusting dead bodies!" They giggle. She gets up and kind of staggers and fall into Laz's arms. They go with the flow. Their own music box begins to play.
Cut to Reina and Navier.
She finally breaks away from the kiss. She pleads again for time to get her head on straight. He is unconvinced. He knows she's hiding something. He's going to find out what it is. But there's something she has to know: Estefi is back!
Cut to the De Rosas studio.
ORBO gloats over the fact that Victor, as usual, has failed. Victor doesn't take narcissistic injuries lightly. He pulls out a gun and aims it at ORBO's head. Victor doesn't intend to fail again. Big O was dead and he is going to stay dead.
Estefi bursts in and begs Victor not to do it. "Kill me!" says ORBO. "Maybe this time you'll pay for your crime." Victor lowers the gun. "Let's talk like civilized people," says BSC Estefi. "Like normal people." "We're NOT normal people," says Victor.
ORBO is tired and wants to rest. Estefi leads him to his room. Victor gnashes his teeth.
Cut to Laz and Moto, stripped down to their undies, though apparently still on the couch.
Their music box is still playing.
Cut to the De Rosas Mansion.
Reina shows up looking for Victor, but finds Navier instead. ORBO walks into the room. Reina stare at him uncomprehendingly.
Cut to the CIA Morgue.
Esmeeth pries open the lid of a coffin while Picasso looks on. (Why? Is he waiting for his nails to dry?) The box is full of -- gasp! --and ROCKS! The agents know that it doesn't prove that Big O is alive, but without his body, they've got bupkes.
Cut to the De Rosas Mansion.
Did Reina bring her diary to show it to Victor? Reina says Victor doesn't have to read it -- he lived it with her. He was the protagonist of her story for eight years.
Why didn't Navier tell her about Big O? He didn't think it would interest her. He plops down on the long couch. Why don't he and Reina wait for Victor together?
Whoosh! Cut to Victor and Estefi.
"Picasso is your brother?" What luck having a brother who's the head of the CIA! No wonder she never caught. She was always one step ahead.
Cut to Moto and Laz.
She is dressed and ready to go out. Laz is in his undies on the couch. See ya!
Cut to the De Rosas Mansion.
Reina sits stiffly on the couch. Navier stands apart. Victor feigns surprise at seeing Reina -- when did she get back? She wanted to talk to him, but it's clearly not a good time. She tries to walk away. Victor grabs her arm and holds her back. If she's there, it's because she has something important to say. It's Navier who is in the way.
Navier pretends to agree. Then he wheels on Victor and points his gun at him: "What are you threatening her with?"
Hahaha. The Cobra slithers in behind Victor and aims her gun at Navier. She won't let anyone hurt her baby's father. Who is she? She's Victor's woman and the mother of his unborn child.
Victor goes all smarmy as he gets the two hotheads to lower their weapons. He doesn't have to threaten Reina, he says, because she's part of his past. He decided to start a family with Alicia. Victor Junior is on the way! As Navier's big brother, he advises him to get a good lawyer. It's so unpleasant, this business of their father sleeping with Navier's wife.
"To begin with, he's not our father -- he's an impostor," says Navier.
Estefi enters laughing. "Oh the things you hear in this house!"
Reina becomes enraged when she sees her. "Maldita perra, te mato!" Navier has to hold her back. "I don't think you'd want to kill a pregnant woman," says Estefi with a smile.
"Even if you are pregnant -- which I doubt because we all know you're a lying bitch -- you had no mercy for me when I was pregnant."
Estefi says Reina can't prove she harmed her. Victor wonders if it's true. Navier assures him that Estefi is going to pay for what she has done.
"It's impossible to build a case against her," says Reina, "because her brother is the head of the CIA."
"He WAS the head of the CIA," Navier corrects her. Now I hold that position." Wow. That elicited some thoughtful frowns.
Cut to the CIA.
Moto confirms for Esmeeth that no one was ever buried in that coffin.
Cut back to the Mansion.
Navier gets to smirk at Estefi's reaction to the news about Picasso. She feigns indifference.
Victor wants to talk about Big O. His brother says he's an impostor -- and his brother is very intuitive. Estefi swears on what is most sacred to her -- he unborn child and her daughter Greta -- that ORBO/Faux O is Big O.
Cut to ORBO's room in the Mansion.
The maid hands him the phone. Someone wants to speak to him. It's Sara! He wasn't expecting her call.
Cut to the Living Room.
Navier promises to unmask Faux O and Estefi too. Estefi tries to drum up sympathy -- he can't upset a pregnant woman. Reina tells her to cut the crap. Victor asks her if she's really pregnant. "When do I lie?" she asks. "Siempre" the others answer without hesitation. Well this time, she's telling the truth. It's a boy and she's going to name him... Javier Junior. Navier is the father of her baby! Caras de you gotta be kidding me!
Cut to Esmeeth's apartment.
Reina is furious. Navier shouldn't have held her back! Navier tries to calm her. He hasn't even seen Estefi for several months. There's no way she could be pregnant with his child. She just said that to upset them.
Cut to CIA, a new day.
Navier tells Esmeeth she has to go to the De Rosas Mansion, and not just to see Faux O. (He knows that man isn't Big O -- at least not the Big O they know.) He has a mission for Esmeeth.
Cut to the De Rosas Mansion.
Esmeeth arrives with several agents. Estefanía and Faux O are under arrest. Victor looks on from the staircase...
Tune in tomorrow...
This capitulo was a toughie cut or uncut. Now that all the characters are back in Las Vegas - it didn't take long for FELS to return - there was a lot of catching up to do.
I did watch the three uncut episodes and I can add a few things:
We see ORBO take the evidence against Victor out of his suitcase but they cut the part where he puts it behind one of his paintings.
Laz and Dra Moto definitely had sex (with a song) on the short couch but it was alcohol induced and they were both chagrined in the morning when they woke up.
I thought Navier reading Reina's diary that Victor dictated to her was very funny. Besides the having sex for hours, there was a pool full of champagne and other things.
I'm not sure if it was made clear that Reina has told Esmeeth that Vic is blackmailing her with the list of agents. Esmeeth tells Moto this but she doesn't tell Navier even when he says that he knows she is lying about something.
There was a lot more with Connie. She has sex with Izzy on the couch (where was Roman?) and it is Izzy who tells her to divorce Christian because she only married him because she thought he was dying.
Then Connie goes to Juanjo's. They get a little drunk and she asks why he didn't fall in love with her and maybe they should have a fake marriage like Laz and Moto. Christian comes over and Connie tells him that she and JJ are a couple.
Susana tells Yoli that she can have JJ.
After the whole pregnancy revelation scene in the DeRosas living room, Estefi is rolling around on the bed next to ORBO gloating about being pregnant with Navier's baby. This was definitely weird.
That's about what I can remember offhand.
Thanks so much for the added info about the Case of the Chopped Chapters.
I know she is not a very important character, but I kind of detest Yolanda for the way she talks about Susana. And if she's trying to make hay out of Susana's trauma, she is incredibly insensitive. I really would hat to see her end up with Juanjo.
I think last night's episode -- despite some pretty funny moments -- was the least satisfying so far. Let's hope things take a turn toward coherency tonight.
My beanie has failed so I have to ask: wouldn't it have been obvious that false Big O's grave had been disturbed? And how on earth did Estefi, acting alone, one assumes, not only dig up false Big O's coffin but replace it with a different, previously buried but empty coffin full of stones? If the coffin that the CIA dug up was false Big O's actual coffin and the body had just been removed, I am sure that there would have been evidence of that in the coffin - he was buried for almost a year (I can think of two time jumps and maybe there were more.)
How was it possible that there was no evidence that Estefi was at the manicomio? None of the surviving staff mentioned a missing patient? There were no fingerprints or DNA? It was kind of funny in Monday's episode how Estefi, Victor, Cobra, Moto, Laz and ORBO were all running around the manicomio mostly not seeing each other.
If Esmeeth knows or even suspects that Victor has the list of agents, why doesn't she arrest him and search the place? He keeps the list on his laptop?
Oh well, I guess I'd better get a new beanie and matching full-body beanie suit.
So my backstory is the Estefi amassed enough cash from bills tucked into her g-string to finance her return to Vegas and buy some goons to dig up Big O's coffin and replace it with a box of rocks. [Perhaps the real coffin will actually turn up.] There's no way, however, that she could disguise the fact that the ground had been disturbed, even with the most expert landscaping...unless, of course, no one was thinking about that when they exhumed the body and messed up the scene.
Did we ever see any other patients at the manicomio? Susana talked about seeing patients coming out on the lawn, but I can't remember actually seeing them? To me, the place was a like a set in a classical farce, with characters coming in and out doors and windows and narrowly missing each other. It WAS funny!
I suppose when Victor is arrested -- REALLY arrested -- then so is the show. So we've got a few episodes of glowering and smarmy charm to go.
My fav –
”the monument to more money than taste, the Pérez-Hidalgo-Bolívar Mansion.” Sad but so true in real life, as well.
Javier asks Stefy “where are you?” Didn’t he put a GPS chip into Stefy before he took her to Miami? Or did I dream that?
Well, ORBO ditched his sanitarium personality and regained his old persona overnight.
Stefy had to dig up Big O’s body. DocMoto opens a coffin full of rocks (memories of Adriana in Amores Verdaderos… ah, good times…) and says there was never a body in there? So what did Stefy go dig up? QTH???
Jean said ” My beanie has failed so I have to ask: wouldn't it have been obvious that false Big O's grave had been disturbed?”
I was wondering the same thing about that and the rest of your question!
DITTO your comments about the manicomio and survivors, fingerprints, etc.
LOL moment --- ”Victor asks her if she's really pregnant. "When do I lie?" she asks. "Siempre" the others answer without hesitation” AND they all said it in unison! ;-)
What I got from Dra Moto's statement after they examined the box-o-rocks was that there was NOTHING, no evidence of remains had ever been in it. Stefi must have gone out and bought a new coffin and scruffed it up.
I thought Javier reading Reina's made up diary was a hoot. It's just like Victor to make himself look really macho.
I also had a guffaw when all three in unison told Stefi "siempre." So is the new bebe, if she's indeed pregnant, a spawn of ORBO?
Can't wait to "sit in" on Smeeth's interrogation of ORBO. Was it only his paintings of her that kept him occupied for 50 years (ack) or did he also have access to newspaper and magazine articles (Since he didn't know how to use the internet, Today's CIA would have been a good one to have.)
I was wondering myself about the Florida manicomio. How is it they only had two patients and one a recent arrival, but a whole staff of blue shirted and white shirted guys to shoot dead. And why were there no women attendants? I would be filing suit for discrimination in hiring practices against the owner (a Mr. Javier De Rosas) if this weren't a telenovela.
In order for Stefi's deception to work, she had to completely remove any trace of Fake Big O. She could only do it by replacing it with a clean one she just bought from the local funerary parlor.
The undisturbed grave part, we just have to swallow whole, or tuck it up inside our beanies.
Either that or we have some really dumb CSI and forensic staff in Las Vegas. Maybe Dra Moto is a little off her skills after what she did the night before.
And yes, Javier did put a cheep in Stefi and had cameras installed, the whole shebang at the manicomio. Maybe the cheep battery is dead? Maybe it only works in FL? Maybe the writers forgot?
"Well, ORBO ditched his sanitarium personality and regained his old persona overnight."
That sounded a false note in an area where these writers usually have perfect pitch. BTW, the actor has done a terrific job in creating two believable personas (up to now).
Anita, thanks so much!
Who knows what happened to the cheep in Estefi? She is very, um, conscious of her own body so it would be plausible for her to have discovered it herself and removed it. But it's for the writers to tell us that, however telescopically. Oh well.
And yes, Reina's fake diary written unmistakably in Victor's voice was one of the better moments in this both lurching and shambling mess of an episode.
I love your “faux O”, NovelaMaven! I thought he looked much handsomer with the beard. And how was such a cringing man able to suddenly put on all that swagger?
And why oh why, when he spotted Sara, his sustaining fantasy woman of decades, did he show absolutely no reaction?
I was wondering about the disturbed grave too. This was such a bizarre episode, or group of episodes.
Did I miss something? Why did Picasso quit his post? Or was he demoted? Reassigned?
"Why did Picasso quit his post? Or was he demoted? Reassigned?"
This wasn't as explicit as it should have been, but my take on it was that Picasso finally accepted moral responsibility for the List of 179. It seemed that he stepped down himself -- he need some time alone -- but perhaps some other Reinamaniacs picked up an additional Bat Signal about his behavior.
And yes Faux O definitely looked more attractive when he still had his beard (and his conscience) :)
It’s amazing he would resign. Everybody at the office seems to be all about “mi trabajo” at the expense of everything else, and Picasso had been all icy, everything-for-mi-trabajo.
And who is his big love? He seems to switch around…
And I thought he looked like Wolfman Jack. LOL
Good points on all your ORBO/Faux-O questions!
What's up with Pic a/k/a FPGELS? Did he jump ship? Looks like he is now actually cooperating and helping Javier & Co.. Or did I misunderstand the "Bat Signal" (LOL NovelaMaven!)
grrr....
should I be glad Telemundo just didn't drop Reina all together and start showing Cantinflas movies, not that I don't like Cantinflas movies.
thanks so much Jean for a very wonderful recap on Monday, much better than watching!
and thank you NovelaMaven for last night!
"Whoosh!", "Whiplash", "Swoosh!" it was indeed,
the only thing flowing was your lovely snark!
Tonight's pseudo-episode will be the last one I'll be able to watch for almost two weeks. I'm not sure whether the novela will still be crashing about when I return. I will definitely try to keep up with the recaps. So again, thanks in advance to you and all the other heroic recappers.
There were quite a few LOL moments. Everyone responding in unison to Stefi. Vic's self aggrandizing entries to Reina's faux diary. Stefi's announcement that she's pregnant with Navier's baby. (I kind of started to believe it.)
I had an LOL moment when Susana broke up with Juanjo because my immediate thought was, "Not this plot line AGAIN. Next they'll have Yoli hanging all over Juanjo!" And lo and behold, almost the next scene, Yoli was rushing through the door attacking Juanjo's face with kisses. Ha!
I give Navier props for believing in Reina's goodness 100%. It's about time, because not too long ago he was quick to believe every bad thing said about her. (Not like it was that hard to scoff at that ridiculous diary.) I was yelling at Reina by the end. Ya, basta! He doesn't believe you. Just tell him you're not going to tell him why you're acting a fool, and be done with it.
"Who is Picasso's big love?" Yeah, he does seem to have a short attention span. Last night, he made a pitch to Moto and she turned him down flat. Did we even see him interacting with Esmeeth?
They should have a dating service or maybe mixers for unpleasant -- though not totally psychopathic -- single characters. People like Picasso and Christian Palacios and Yolanda could get to know each other and maybe fall in love, or at least in lust, but leave the likeable (though neurotic) characters alone.
Deb,
I'm just happy that Reina hasn't been replaced by an hour-long infomercial for those leggings that make your butt look big. :D
Juanita,
I fear there will be no trace of Reina by the time you come back (though, of course, the motivated addict can always find episodes somewhere). Safe travels, amiga!
Vivi,
Glad you got a chuckle or two from the recap and from the show. Even as the plot devolves into incoherency, we continue to be in the hands of pros who know how to deliver a line--
BSC Estefi: Let's talk like normal people.
Victor: We're NOT normal people.
What can I tell you? Even in its twilight, I get such a kick out of this show.
Anita, I love the way you slip so readily into your "wisdom of the dragon" persona --
"Dragons can be difficult sometimes. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. "
tee hee
Juanita, I got a big kick out of your needing a matching neck brace to go with your beanie hat and full-body suit!
So Reina tells Esmeeth that Victor is the one outing the CIA agents, and she doesn't think Esmeeth is going to tell Navier?
I found it believable that ORBO would be able to completely imitate his half brother. He'd had years of the jackass showing up at the manicomio and taunting him.
So, starting tonight it's two-fers instead of three-fers? Maybe Juanita can turn in her neck brace for a refund if there's less cutting.
"I found it believable that ORBO would be able to completely imitate his half brother. He'd had years of the jackass showing up at the manicomio and taunting him."
ooh, excellent point! I hadn't thought of that!
ORBO's sudden personality change back to his supposed twin brothers is another reason that I am beginning to suspect that he may really be the supposedly dead "Octavio". It would be an interesting plot twist in a novela full of plot twists.

I just wanted to pop by to tip my proverbial hat, and give an immensurable thanks to ALL of the recappers who are keeping us up-to-date with everything going on with our 'Reina'. Thanks to Telemundo (boo! hiss!!!) you all really HAVE been asked to go WAY beyond the call of duty, and do WAY more than what you usually do... and you all have, and in spades! For that, again- I thank you SO much!
As I think I may have mentioned, I was following 'Reina' on GalaTV in Mexico, aka- as it came out, which is why I've tried to refrain from posting here (I don't want to let slip any spoilers!!). As such, however, my Reina world is now over, and I'm already sad... usually I just move on to the next one, but this one I felt really WAS something special- it was just FUN, ENGAGING entertainment, over-the-top at all times, but in the BEST way, and what's more- it was never cloying or insulting to our viewer-intelligence- and boy, did I appreciate all that! Now, trying to tune in with you all over at Telemundo, it's hit me just what a savage and merciless job Telemundo has done, and it's a SIN, and a total kick-in-the-teeth to its viewers and fans, not to mention everyone associated with this novela and that tried their best with it to make it come alive. But this realization and recognition just made me appreciate what you recappers are doing all the more, which is why i thought I'd come out and say 'hi' and, even more so 'THANK YOU!!!'.
Reina is a GREAT telenovela- one that never took itself too seriously, and just wanted to entertain us. Now, having watched all 140 capitulos in their entirety, I can say that it did indeed do that, and in spades, and I am so grateful and appreciative to you recappers that are trying to give back to the viewers EXACTLY what all of the artists, writers, and production and creative team gave to us, but that Telemundo tried to keep from us.
BOO! HISS!! To Telemundo, and to public opinion (apparently)... and THUMBS UP, WAY UP!!! to 'Reina' and all the gang here at 'CarayCaray'.
Wishing my continued best wishes to everyone...
Stevey :-)
¡Mil gracias! Especially you – Mauricio. I have been silent for a long while due to work travels and lack of access to a computer, but I've stayed lurking and reading all your wonderful recaps and comments (via my smart phone mostly). I was able to stay up to date for quite a while, and then got so discouraged by the chopping of Telemundo that I decided to stop watching on TV and keep up with Mauricio's blog. So I am way behind you all, as I'm on Mexican capitulo 110. However, I'm reading your comments and wonder 3-fer recaps (I'm looking at you Jean, Novelamaven, Mauricio, and Caroline) as I watch the episodes. Without the Spanish subtitles my comprehension goes from about 70% to 50%, but I get the main idea (and your wonderful recaps fill in the rest). This is a much better way to watch than the massacre on Telemundo. That is my protest – no longer watching on Telemundo.
So I’m behind and don’t want to read ahead on Caray, Caray, but I wanted to let you all know how much I appreciate your effort. The last few days I’ve been nursing a wicked cold, and I’ve binged watched about 12 episodes (again, “Thanks, Mauricio!”). This is such a good Telenovela. I know there are the roll your eye moments – pretty fast and loose with the concept of a psychiatric hospital – but all and all the pacing and plotting some of the best that I’ve seen. It’s truly a shame what Telemundo is broadcasting.
Bye for now…
