Quiero Amarte Highlights & Discussion (Week 13-Dec 15)
Vivi Wraps it Up
Wedding called off. Amaya denounced as a home-wrecker/whore. Max denounced as a cheater and liar. Connie hooked up/shacked up/loved up with Sal. Manuel and Geno have a secret love child, who doesn't even know who his father is. Manuel determined to fire Amaya. Whor confronting Amaya about her "cheating" in her hotel room. Wow!
Lila Gives us Some Good Ones
Lips Not Hips
Mauro’s Ire Re-Fires
Emma Arrives and Dives
Consensus Reached on the Patio
Constanza is Insecure—She needs a man for validation of her worth.
Sal’s accusations that Max and Amaya are lovers are LAME. His proofs would not hold up in court.
Horacio’s treatment of Valeria is inexcusable in any culture north or south of the US-Mexico border.
Looking Ahead:
Speculations Abound
Will Consta “Pull a Lu” if she finds out she’s pregnant?
Is César genuinely interested in Amaya?
Can Sal become more dangerous to Max where Consta is concerned?
What will Horacio do when he finds no one with Amaya in her hotel room? (Oh, Max, if you are downstairs, please be careful.)

Anita and Lila and all of the
perceptive and humorous commenters.
Way to go Vivi as well! Concise and astute as always.
Looking forward to today's meet up.
All the best

I know it's wrong of me, but Hubs has to be at work late tonight and my first thought was "YES! TV to myself!" Can't wait to get home and watch.
The acting was as usual excellent, and the story progressing slowly,
but no romance. The writers are still leaving us hanging.
(Scenes have been combined where it makes sense.)
Whoracio can’t find Max.
He has barged into Amaya’s hotel room at Valle del Bravo as she was getting ready for bed. He tears around the place looking for her lover. Amaya doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Her protestations do not deter him. He accuses her of having something going with Maximiliano Montesinos for a long time. Amaya’s denials fall on deaf ears. Still in an accusatory mode, the Whor tells her Max’s bride cancelled the wedding charging Amaya with being Max’s lover and Whoracio believes the same. Amaya says if Max didn’t get married, it is not her fault. They are nothing to each other.
When she asks about Valeria, Whoracio lies and says she’s fine. But she won’t be when she finds out her mother is a slut. That earns him a slap across the face from Amaya. The argument escalates and gets violent. He pushes her around and onto the bed. He said the bride had proof. Amaya’s only argument is that Whoracio is the one that was unfaithful. He ignores the charge. She’s innocent and will prove it. He ignores her continued protestations. He’ll make her sorry. He threatens to take Valeria away from her. She reminds him she has custody. Well, he’ll turn Vale against her until she ends up hating her. She tells him to “largate!” He’s at the point of assaulting her. Her screams have brought the hotel manager and a hotel staff member with him when other guests alerted them to the commotion. Whoracio finally leaves with his tail between his legs—avoiding being escorted out by the hotel security, but still furious. Amaya assures the two men she’s ok, but to please prepare her bill because she has to return to Mexico that very night.
The manager tells her a Carolina Rivera called her and she can now use the hotel phone line. Amaya calls Carolina and finds out Whoracio left Vale alone. Carolina finds out what an uproar he caused when he showed up at the hotel. Amaya didn’t know why Whoracio was looking for Max in her room. Caro tells her it was probably the rumor that was passed around at the church that she and Max were lovers. She tells her the whole WB (Wedding Bomb, thank you Lila) story and how Consta said she had proof about what happened when Max and Amaya stayed in the cabins together.
Amaya is horrified. She can’t permit gossip like that to get around, not so much for her reputation, but for Valeria’s sake. About that, she can speak from experience. Everything Constanza said was a lie. Caro tells Amaya that Jorge already knows she’s divorced from Whoracio and there’s no reason for her to keep it concealed any longer. Amaya agrees. She asks Caro not to let Whoracio in the apartment to take Valeria. Caro assures her it won’t happen. Amaya talks to Vale to reassure her that she will be home soon.
Max is in “a” hotel
Regrettably for those on the patio who wanted this confrontation over with tonight, thus giving Max and Amaya a chance to talk about their real feelings for each other, have been left sorely disappointed. Max has stopped halfway to Chiapas. He’s not in Valle del Bravo at all. He’s still got a long way to go. The hotel staff offers to get him a toothbrush and deodorant since he has no luggage with him. He asks him to leave the items outside the door.
“SHOWER ALERT” Max lets us watch while he takes a good long shower, washing and trying to rinse away all the horrible events which have settled on him over the last few hours. He washes his hair, too, showing off those embraceable-you arms. He’s got to be depressed. He assumes, as the warm water sprays over his nicely chiseled torso, that Amaya is happily married and after today’s WB, his future with Constanza is finished.
Max has finished his shower and is wrapped up in a blue robe, sitting on the bed and starting to reflect—how did it all end this way: Sal’s attitude, Sal’s feelings for Consta, Consta’s feelings for Sal, Max’s feelings for Amaya. He now realizes it was a mistake to try to renew their love affair after being separated for five years, regardless of how much they might have thought they wanted to and tried (sighhhh, the man needs a nice long hug).
We on the Patio learn why Max isn’t calling or returning calls. It’s not because he wants to be alone, his cell phone died and he doesn’t have the charger with him. The desk clerk brings him a couple, but neither fit. He can’t use the hotel phone, because all the numbers are in the cell phone. (Slightly unbelievable he doesn’t have his home phone memorized, but ni modo, the tale must go on in this way—Max must remain incommunicado.)
Juliana’s great idea flies
She is assuring Mauro that creating a publicity department inside of Nescafé to protect Amaya’s job is the right think to do. Mauro wants to call Max right away and tell him. Max doesn’t answer, so Mauro leaves him a very sweet, supportive message to please call back, he has something important to tell him that will please him (but fails to mention it involves Amaya).
It’s pasta night at Vale’s
Jorge and Caro sit down to the spaghetti dinner Jorge and Vale prepared. While they wait for Vale, Jorge tells Caro he can’t reach Max. Caro says Amaya is going to try to call him also. She tells Jorge how concerned Amaya is about the scandal Whoracio provoked showing up at the hotel. Vale gets a text from Daddy Dearest saying he’s on his way home, but it’ll be awhile yet. Caro tells Vale to text him and tell him they are there and for him not to bother coming.
Jorge gets a call—not from Max, but Juliana (second best at this moment) who wants to know anything about Max. All he knows is that Max tried to talk to Constanza, but she wouldn’t have anything to do with him; then he tried to talk to Amaya, but couldn’t find her. While he talks, Caro and Vale clear the table. His eyes keep following Caro. Now, he and Juliana compare notes, all they got is Max’s voice mail. But, not to worry, she ought to know how he is. Max said he wanted to be alone. Jorge tells Juliana about Amaya already being divorced and how Consta forbade Amaya from telling Max. Juliana is cara de impactada. How childish of Consta, she declares. Indeed, Max needs to know as soon as possible.
Et tú, Mauro?
Juliana, indignant over Consta’s behavior, finds out Mauro had also known about the divorce for some time. Why didn’t he tell Max? Mauro says it was because of the loyalty he had for Don Manuel and Constanza and Max had already decided to marry her. He admits he made a big mistake.
Elo comes in to tell them dinner is ready. She can tell something is wrong. Juliana says she’ll tell her later. While they wait to be called to the table, Elo and Mauro sit in the living room. César comes in. Elo is mentioning how difficult all this must be for Max. Cece says, for everyone, not just Max. Who would have thought he and Amaya would—Mauro cuts him off. Max was not unfaithful to Constanza. Cece isn’t swallowing that one. Constanza had proof. Max just had a little adventure and Consta found out. He thinks Amaya is that sort. Mauro takes the affront personally. No! Amaya is not “that sort.” Well, Constanza must have had a pretty good reason to cancel the wedding. Juliana comes in and sits on the arm of the sofa next to Cece and claims Constanza was insecure and jealous. (Yep, what did we say, compadres on the patio.) Mauro doesn’t know what proof he had. Don Manuel was just plain furious so he didn’t elaborate at all.
Alan and Lucio overhear that Don Manuel was going to dismiss Amaya from her job with him. Juliana assures them it won’t be for long because Mauro is going to hire her to work with him. They are both relieved. They have a good papa/abuelo. Mauro corrects them. It’s not generosity, it’s right and fair. He believes in her innocence. Cece objects—he’s overprotecting her and she’s not even family. Mauro shows his vexation. It’s justice, he repeats. He’s not going to leave her without a job based on something Constanza supposes happened.
Whoracio is a distracted driver
He’s driving back in the dark to Mexico City in a heavy rain. There are actually two people in his car, Mad Horacio and Really Mad Whoracio. He’s trying to drive and dial and nearly becomes involved in a serious accident. He bangs on the steering wheel and blames Amaya and those maldito Montesinos for everything.
Amaya is trying not to be a distracted driver
Mariana is on speakerphone with her, passing on all the news she got from Iván. Amaya is a little short with her, but it’s understandable; she’s upset, driving at night, her daughter was left alone, Whoracio is a jerk and she wants to communicate with Max. She dials Max, but gets his voice mail. In her message, she lets him know what she heard and yes, they should talk. She’s especially distressed over all this for Vale’s sake.
Constanza is drowning her sorrows
Consta and Sal are sitting in a local cantina. Consta is being seriously affected by alcohol. She doesn’t want anything to eat. Sal tries to distract her. He is so happy. Consta brings him back to earth by asking him to promise not to cheat on her. Not to tell her he loves her and be sleeping with some other woman. Sal assures her that would never happen, he loves her. Consta looks straight at him and says that’s what Max said. He’s not Max he says firmly.
He didn’t realize how much he loved her until Max came back. He couldn’t stand the thought of the two of them being together. Consta looks at him, sadly. She feels deceived. She didn’t deserve such treatment. Sal tells her she’s not to worry. He’s with her now and before too long she will forget it all.
Hijo, I wasn’t happy, so you won’t be happy either
Hector and Iván wait in the hotel room for the taxi to the airport. Iván feels he needs to tell his dad what he heard from Mariana—that Amaya and Max were only friends. Hector says that may be, but the only ones who really know are the two who are involved. He reminds his son of the gossip that was going around that Amaya’s mother and Max’s father were lovers, Iván doesn’t know how that figures in since nothing was ever proven. Hector says, wisely, his granny always told him not to do anything good that might look bad or anything bad that might look good. He advises Iván not to get himself more deeply involved with Mariana because her relationship with Amaya and theirs with the Montesinos will only cause him problems. Iván states he’s willing to confront anyone, even the Montesinos. His love for Mariana is above all. He understands his father doesn’t believe he’s found true love and that love is returned. He knows his father was burned, and he might too, but he’s willing to take the risk.
Vale and Jorge are a couple of sleepy-heads
It seems they have been waiting a long time for Amaya to get home. Vale is in bed and Jorge has been snoozing. Caro has been too worked up to sleep. Finally, Amaya arrives home. She goes in to see Vale to make sure she knows she has returned. When she returns Jorge suggests it’s time to leave. Caro wants to stay with Amaya. Jorge understands and gives them each kisses on both cheeks goodnight. Jorge and Caro hold hands long enough to suggest there will be another less busy evening for them soon. Amaya dissolves into tears the minute the door closes.
Whoracio arrives alive
(Dang, too bad.) Emma lets him in to her place. He’s still steaming, hopping mad—he could possibly burst a blood vessel in his head (ojalá). He’s really upset he didn’t find Max and Amaya in flagrante delicto, but that doesn’t stop him from believing the worst. It just made him even angrier. They’re making a fool out of him. Max should have been there, if they were really lovers. Emma fans the flames of discontent. Did he think Amaya was going to admit she was Max’s lover? She tells him to get a grip on reality. It had to be true or Consta wouldn’t have cancelled the wedding. Whoracio is afraid for his job. Why should he be concerned, she wonders, he’s a free man, he can do what he likes. No-no-no. He points out that now more than ever he can’t hook up with her openly. He needs to think about things calmly. He’s pithed that the object of his wrath is a multi-millionaire who happens to be a boss.
Emma reminds him it was her vouching for him that got him in the door at Nescafé. He was having trouble getting hired after being accused of fraud and misuse of funds. He swears he wasn’t involved, it was a false accusation. As for his present position with César, he got it all by himself. He’s not going to sit around and do nothing.
César entertains a dancing queen or vice versa
He’s relaxing in his pad, being entertained by his “paid” companion. He wants her to start dancing. She complies, while he thinks impure thoughts as he video-tapes her with his smart phone. No, actually we hear that he’s thinking about Amaya. What is it about her that made her attractive to Max. It must be as he deduced earlier. It was a fling with a forbidden woman. It obvious she’s important to Mauro or he wouldn’t be protecting her. He’s going to take advantage of the situation. He’s sure Don Manuel is going to want to sell his shares in the coffee enterprise and guess who will be first in line to buy them. He’ll end up having more shares than any of his siblings, thanks to Constanza.
His night visitor sees that he is quite happy for a change. Yes, he’s been thinking how things are going badly for his brother and very well for him. He invites her to “pleasure” him. When they are through, she wants to spend the night, but Cece says he doesn’t share his bed with anyone. And what does he call “this” she wants to know. It’s not spending the night is what it is. He pays her and tells her to skedaddle and to shut the door behind her. (Thank goodness that is all we had to see.) Mamá calls. She wants to know if he’s ok. Yes, he is. Oh and did she know about Mauro’s scheme to help Amaya?
Amaya and Caro are tippling tequila
Caro and Amaya are having a heart to heart over shots of tequila and squirts of lime. They are going over all the events of the last day. Caro recommends she threaten Whoracio with loss of his job. She has clout now. Not that she “would” do it, only that she “could” get him fired. He would think about it twice before continuing to threaten her. Because of his “troubles” at his last job and how hard it was for him to get employment somewhere else, Caro doesn’t think he would risk it.
Amaya shifts the conversation to Max. Amaya thinks how humiliating it must have been for Max. Caro remembers how furious he was swearing there had never been anything between them. Now, she reminds Amaya, everything will be different when he learns she is divorced and not telling him was to not interpose herself inbetween him and his engagement to Consta.
Amaya is sure they will be able to talk openly, honestly and freely, and, interjects Caro, she’ll be able to tell him she’s in love with him. True, she’s not going to hold back. Amaya wonders what Max will think about her. Caro tells her Jorge has said Max is very much in love with her. Seriously? Sí! Squeeeee! But, Amaya wants to know why he was going to marry Consta. (Come on, sweetie, you know—you engineered the whole happily married farce.) Caro tells her like it was. As a happily married woman, she was off limits to him, so he settled for what he knew. Maybe he loved Consta, but was also in love with Amaya. Amaya is sure her life would be perfect if Max loved her. Caro advises her to do something so that happens.
The bedroom of “ill repute”
Whenever we have been witnesses to a bedroom scene between Mauro and Lucrecia, it always ends in a ferocious argument. It is not good for his health. He needs to move out. This night is no different. Luce lights into him first about Flavia stepping out with Ulises then about the ridiculousness of providing Amaya with a fall back job in the family business. Why is he doing this for a stranger. Mauro yells she’s not a stranger, she’s been unjustly accused and it’s a matter of justice. He won’t hear another discouraging word. Besides, in all things relating to the business, he reminds her, at his most unrestrained anger, HE makes the decisions. Mauro stomps off to the bathroom.
Luce needs to calm down, she needs something she can touch and hold that won’t yell at her. She bends down, gets Emma’s revolver out of the beautiful black velvet bag and fondles it, holding the barrel up to her neck and rubbing it against her. She quickly puts it away again.
Sal is still rushing things
Consta is full of alcohol, so we will excuse her, but there is no excuse for Salvador. Consta pushes the right button and asks him to kiss her. He complies. They lie down together on the bed. She’s in his arms, he nuzzles her. She closes her eyes and says again, “Kiss me, Max.” He who is not Max, pulls away and looks down at Constanza.
Freeze-frame his face.
Since there are gaps in my knowledge, did we know before about Whoracio's previous work woes? Is that something Cesar knew and that's why he is using him for the fraud?
Speaking of Cesar, he totally grossed me out yesterday. I know longer think he has a pure and sincere interest in Amaya.
It didn't come as a surprise though, something in the deep recesses of my mind recalled something about job problems and that Emma was instrumental in getting him his current position.
It wouldn't have been too hard for Cesar to do his own background check and see this information. I do remember when he tested the Whor to see if he would bend the rules with the contract with that one coffee grower...and he did.
Did I hear Caro correctly when she and Amaya were talking? I thought I heard her say that she thought Whor was innocent of the previous accusation of fraud.
I am assuming the previous accusation will bite Whor on the but when Cesar's little game is revealed.
Oh, and Cesar owning Manuel's shares CAN'T be good.
It would have been nice for Amaya and Max to have found each other in Valle del Bravo, but I do think that they both needed time to process the WB and decide on their next steps. And Amaya really did need to get home to her child. I loved the little tequila fest Amaya and Caro had. All I keep thinking when I see all these telenovela characters bite into limes with their tequila, is that Mexicans must have a real problem with their tooth enamel! :)
Yes, Amaya didn't seem to believe that the fraud accusations on Whor's last job were true. She obviously doesn't know just how bad her ex really is. I was really glad that the hotel folks came running to her room. Things were getting ugly.
Wow, Sal. Slow your roll buddy! Do you really think it's a good idea to bed a drunk Connie the day she dumps her fiance at the altar? And are you really surprised she called out his name?
He swore to Emma he had no hand in the fraud. I also have a tendency to believe him--in this case.
However, he's a sleaze-ball and not above engaging in some underhanded dealings to acquire a better position and more money. He may have been marginally involved in the earlier fraud or knew about it and didn't participate.
I'm surprised he's not more cautious about the current shady dealings--especially when it involves forging Cesar's signature. He's putting blind faith in Aaron.
Now that you say it I'm like yeaaahhh, why *is* Woracio on board? Which kind of makes me think he wasn't completely innocent at his old company.
Thank you Anita for this most satisfying recapitulation. No. We didn't get smoochies but I wasn't real disappointed. That was quite a big bomb dropped and everyone has to clear their heads, process it and regroup. Well. . .sometimes clearing the head involves clouding UP the head as in Connie, Amaya and Caro's elbow bending. Amaya and Caro's was fun but Connie was pitiful.
Sal is indeed so self-centered. The pain is so visible in Connie's face and eyes and all he can do is goofily declare that HE is the luckiest man alive! He is not showing he loves her. He should meet her where she is and SHE shouldn't have tried to go away with him right away. I know, I know there's no Emily Post for what to do after you leave your hot hunk of an almost husband standing at the altar so she's doing the WB rebound jig!
But HE, if he loved her, should have concentrated on HER, let her cry, not talked at all about them. Serves him right to be called "Max" at that most intimate moment. Slow down and focus on Connie, Sal!
I also was not disappointed because, as you put it: Max let us watch him shower! Yaay! And indeed, he did need a hug. And he will get that hug from Amaya. We just have to be patient.
Mauro and Lu in the "bedroom of ill repute". .you got that right Anita! Lu and that pistol! She was also having impure thoughts! Thoughts of murder! That little scene was just as disturbing as Cesar during the command performance of his little floozy. Lu's calling him whining about the house not being the same without him was just sickening! Yuuuck!
Loved Amaya and Caro doing tequila shots! That is about as relaxed as I've seen Amaya during this whole time of peeking in on her life. It was good to see her get a little loose and giggly and crank up her resolve to fight for the man she loves!
Well. More later.
Whor really has kept the violent side of himself hidden. That's for sure. Amaya always knew about the cheating part of him. It's a very good thing that Amaya has divorced him.
Lila-I completely agree with your assessment of Sal's behavior. He's looking to me more like a man obsessed and not a man in love.
Remember, we heard a little about their married life during an argument they had. Amaya was working until Vale came along and then Whoracio wanted her to stop working and take care of their home and child--therefore she would have no income and have to rely on him. It was when we meet her she wanted to go back to work part-time in an office and got the job with Don Manuel.
That time-line works out for Amaya to have finished university (where she met Carolina), meet and marry Horacio. (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, he must have been nice in those days.) She worked a couple of years and then Vale was born.
I seem to remember she told Whoracio that she paid for all the household expenses, but I don't see how she could have done that if she wasn't working, so she must have been doing freelance work part-time all along.
A man obsessed--we've had several in tns lately. Is this an epidemic? Jose Luis Alvarez in LQLVMR and Victor de Rosas in Reina de Corazones. (Well, he wasn't so much obsessed with Reina as obsessed with the idea of her being a queen, immune to the curse, and needing her close to him under any circumstances.)
After today's episode, I'll give Sal a lot of slack--a sleepless night was good for him.
I was away all day with a variety of errands. Even though, I was disappointed with the episode in terms of romance, it was well done.
You filled in many, many details for me --especially in the arguments.
I get the gist of them, but when the anger takes hold, it is often difficult for me to understand every word.
My favorite line -- Et tu, Mauro?
I like the way Juliana spoke to her dad. She was not afraid to tell him he had done wrong...
no mincing of words.
Okay, now time to go out again for a few more errands and then come home to watch this riveting TN.
Thanks again, Anita, for your time and dedication to help us all keep fully up to date.
Kiss Me, Max
The amorous scene that ended yesterday’s episode was truly the end. Salvador pulls away from her. He informs her he’s not Max. She knows that. She called him Max. Did not. Did so. He’s not Max and until she can figure out who she really wants to be with, there will be no more nookie. He stands up. Miss Clingy Vine ’14 winds herself around him and won’t let go. He disentangles himself and starts for the door. “Please, don’t do this to me, don’t leave me alone, seriously, I want to make love with you,” she pleads. Acting with a better sense of judgment for both of them, Sal leaves her to get another room.
Kiss Me, Uli
Flavia and Blondie are dancing up a storm at the antro where they have gone to spend the evening with Uli. Blondie congratulates Flavia on that “tipaso” she snared. She’s sure he’s Flavia’s Principe Azul (in US parlance, her Knight in Shining Armor, not a Blue Prince). Flavia announces that she told Blondie they were novios. Uli likes the sound of that. He decides they can’t mislead her friends and pulls Flavia in for a kiss.
Five Quick Wordless Scenes
Horacio is pacing Emma’s apartment, drowning, not his sorrows, but his anger in drink. Constanza takes her engagement ring off her finger. Sal ponders the situation he and Consta find themselves in. Max is sleepless in his hotel room. Amaya is just getting ready to turn in, with Caro for company. These last two are definitely thinking of each other—the music says so.
It’s Morning and Everyone Gets a Fresh Start
Caro is urged to tell Amaya about Jorge. Caro hadn’t wanted to say anything the night before, but today? OK. Jorge kissed her. And then he kissed her again. And then? He kissed her again. She’s not going to make the same mistake she’s made going out with other guys—she immediately sees herself as married to him, with three kids. With Jorge, she’s moving forward, but with the brakes on. She leaves Amaya alerting her to the need to start job hunting. Amaya doesn’t understand, why Caro would need to look for another job. Manuel won’t fire her. No, but she’s quitting. She’d feel uncomfortable there.
Consta went looking for Sal. They meet in the hallway. Though sleep-deprived, both are thinking much more clearly. She asks him to forgive her behavior from the night before.
Sal: He’s not sure asking her to come away with him was the right thing.
Con: Isn’t that what he wanted?
Sal: Yes, more than anything, but he wanted it to be for him and not because Max failed her. He needs to know how she feels about him. Is he merely a temporary refuge? A way to pay Max back in kind (pagar con la misma moneda)?
Con: No, but she’s confused. What happened is not easy for her. Instead of being with Max, happy on her honeymoon, she’s here with him in Chiapas, without knowing what is going to happen between the two of them.
Sal: Ok, he understands she’s confused, but is she here because of him or because she’s fleeing from an unpleasant situation.
Constanza finally tells Sal what Nora always suspected—that she had hidden feelings for Sal; that she got along much better with him than she did with Max. She was afraid of her feelings and what would happen if she opened up to Sal. It was the reason she asked him to stay away from her.
Sal: He wants them to open up that door together. He knows there are no guarantees, but he knows he loves her.
Con: She asks him to be patient with her. She’d like to start from zero.
Sal: He agrees not to pressure her. He wants to know if they should still plan to live together.
Con: Yes, if they go step by step.
Sal: He agrees. And when she’s ready to make love, with him, she’s to tell him.
They seal the deal with a warm hug. Consta closes her eyes. Sal keeps his eyes open. (You can read anything you want into that, patio mates.)
Mother and Daughter Talk About the Chisme Birds and Bees
Amaya and Vale have an important conversation regarding gossip and slander. Vale understands the concept perfectly. It segues perfectly into Amaya’s being able to explain there will probably be some gossip about her that Vale might hear. She elaborates on the Max-Consta non wedding and the part Amaya is supposed to have played. She also tells Vale for the first time how she and Max met the first time. Vale knew nothing of the accident and how Max saved her from drowning.
Amaya goes on to tell Vale that was the reason her daddy left her alone and went looking for her—because he believed the gossip. She assures Vale she is not the coach’s girlfriend, but hedges on saying anything about what might happen in the future. Vale still believes her mother and father could still get together again. Amaya dissuades her of that notion.
Leaving on a Small Plane
Jorge’s bags are packed. He’s ready to go. The taxi’s not waiting yet. Juliana is with him. So kiss him and smile for him. He needs to be in El Paraíso for the start of the harvest. He tells her what he knows about Max—Nothing, and Amaya—about the scandal Horacio caused at her hotel in Valle del Bravo. When she hears that he heard it from Carolina, she asks about her—is he dating her? Yes, he is, just starting to go out with her. She’s genuinely pleased for him. She doesn’t want him to feel alone. He’s sorry he won’t be able to accompany her back to Italy to help her pack up the house. They exit stage right to the despacho.
Father and Half-Son Have a Half-Hearted Talk
César wants to talk business. He’s pretty sure Don Manuel will want to divest himself of his Nescafé shares after the WB. He wants Mauro to promise to let him be first in line to buy them. He has money to pay for them. It would make good business sense for the shares to stay in the family. Mauro is skeptical that Don M. will want to sell, but if he does, he promises to let Cece have first crack at them. Cece goes off to meet friends for breakfast.
The rest of the family gathers, except Luce and Flavia, to say good-bye to Jorge. They joke around. Lucio is in a good mood.
A Person Just Can’t Get Any Sleep Around Here
Lucrecia makes the most of an opportunity to pester Flavia, who was out until the wee hours and Luce knows it. She rips the covers off of her and chews her out about the company she keeps. Flavia avoids a confrontation until Luce maligns Ulises. Then she reacts. Either Lucrecia doesn’t want her to have any boyfriends at all or she’s jealous because Flavia has a boyfriend who makes her happy. Whether Luce likes Uli or not is not her concern. She’s old enough to choose who she wants to love. Luce reminds her that as long as she lives in this house, Flavia has to follow HER rules. Luce leaves in disgust warning her not to ever bring that so-and-so in her house and not to create any scandals that reflect negatively on the family.
Max Needs Another Shower
Hector is surprised to find Max stretched out in the living room at El Paraíso. He just arrived without telling anyone in advance. He tells Hector he needs a bath and he’s going to be in his room. He doesn’t want to be disturbed and he doesn’t need anything to eat—he already had breakfast. (We on the patio are disappointed not to watch Max in another scene where he interacts with water seductively.) He does ask Hector to send someone to buy him a cell phone charger for his type of phone.
Hector immediately tries to reach César on his cell. He has to leave a message. When he tries the house, he is able to talk to Mauro and bring him up to speed on Max. Mauro wants to talk to Max. Mauro is shocked that Max drove all the way to the finca. Anything could have happened to him in his state. Max assures him he didn’t do anything stupid. He spent the night in a hotel. Mauro wants to know how he is. He tells his dad that not marrying Consta was probably for the best. Mauro can hear the sadness in his voice, but calmer. He should stay there as long as he needs to. Max says he needs to return soon to talk to Amaya and help clear up her name. Mauro tells him of his plans to hire Amaya as the director of publicity for Nescafé, because Don Manuel is about to fire her, but again, fails to tell Max about Amaya’s divorce.
Alguien Te Mira
Iván has picked up Mariana and they are strolling through the park talking about the WB. She’s glad he called her because she had a chance to call Amaya. Iván thinks it’s a shame that her sister’s name was dragged through the mud. She didn’t deserve it. Now, Iván wants to know if she missed him. No, yes, a little. He missed her a lot. He grabs her to kiss her but she shies away because they are out in public and could be seen. So they move 4 feet away to a bench in public where they kiss some more. A shadowy figure is in the background. Iván wants to know how soon he can come and tell her parents he has a serious interest in her. Mariana puts him off but promises to set a date with them for an acceptable date. He asks her to come with him to Tuxtla to claim his bag, which apparently did not arrive with him on the flight. She agrees. The camera zooms in on the figure in the background. It’s Efraín. Mariana’s goose is cooked now.
The Latest Issue of Vanidades Frightens Lucio
Lucio finds a magazine article open with a photo of Omar next to a photo of Lucrecia in his room. Lucio gets upset and overstimulated and starts yelling, Malo, Malo, Malo. Juliana hears him and comes to see what was going on. She picks up the wrinkled page and sees it is the photo of an agent.
Dolores Warns Amaya to Stay Away from Max
Amaya is on the phone with her Neena telling her not to worry about her. Dolores thinks she needs to stay away from Max, especially if he finds out she is a free woman. Vale won’t understand any of that, even though Amaya gave her some big clues. Dolores worries that he might try to seek her out.
César Is Not a Hands-Free Cell Phone User Either
He listens to Hector’s message. He snickers to himself that Max went of to the finca to cry it out (lloriquear). Poor sod. He thought surely he’d be with Amaya, but that relationship is probably in the past now.
Confession is Good for the Soul and for Potential Allies
Eloisa and Juliana are heading for the garden to eat. Elo tells her Omar was once Lucrecia’s agent and she’s sure it was more than a mere working relationship. She thinks Luce was in love with him. But that begs the question on why that picture affected Lucio that strongly. Eloise doesn’t think Lucio knew him, but Juli assures her that was who Lucio was calling Malo. Elo will try to find out from Lucio.
Eloisa invites herself to go to Italy with Juli. Juli thinks it’s a wonderful idea, as long as the household can get along without her. Elo says she needs a break. Sometimes, the past catches up with one, she says mysteriously. With little prodding, Eloisa tells Juliana a little bit of her past life: that once upon a time she got married; it went very badly; she got divorced; then she passed through a terrible time. Once through that, it was too late for love or her own children. The Montesino children are her children, especially Lucio. She doesn’t need a man anymore.
Well, that certain man from her past, German, is waiting to accost her at the church, as he did before, but even though it is Sunday, Elo doesn’t show up for mass. He must see her and obtain her pardon before he dies.
Amaya Doesn’t Subscribe to the Sunday Paper
She tells Vale she’s going to run to the corner to pick up a Sunday paper. She has to begin looking for a new job. Because of the chisme that got around, she doesn’t think her boss, the father of Max’s bride is going to want her around. She’s upbeat and not worried about finding something else. As soon as she leaves, Vale, who is watching an English language movie, takes a phone call from Daddy Dearest. He tells her to get her things together, it’s his weekend (which isn’t quite over) and he’s coming to get her. She’s pretty put out at him for leaving her alone the night before. She wants to stay home. He assures her that once she knows why, she’ll feel much better. Vale says if it’s about his chasing after her mother because he thought she was Max’ novia and it was Amaya’s fault Max didn’t get married, she knows all about it. She hangs up on him. He does a semblance of a Sergio Sendel phone throw.
Mauro Joins the Garden Party
He tells Elo and Juli about Max’ state of mind. He didn’t tell him about Amaya’s divorce because right now Max is crazy and he’d get right back in his car and drive right back to the city. (I see why Mauro is worried. I checked The drive takes about 11½ hours.) Lucio’s mood has changed drastically and Mauro notices. Elo tells him not to worry, it was only a little crisis.
Max is Taking a Walk-About the Finca Thinking About Amaya
Max worries about how things are going to be if Amaya takes the job Mauro is going to offer her. She’ll be in his life, closer than ever. If only, if only she had been a free woman, how different everything would be. If only she loved him the way he loves her.
Chelo Has a Real True Chisme
She’s in the kitchen with Hector. They talk about Max and the WB. Hector thinks WORK is the Best Medicine for him. It worked for him when his wife left him. Chelo tells him she’s heard Cipriano is still buying coffee at a higher price than everyone else. Hector is certainly puzzled, wondering what Cip is planning to do with all that coffee. He figures it’s nothing good.
Speaking of Cipriano
Cip is in the cantina talking to two growers (recollectores = coffee collectors?). No. 1 has agreed to sell his coffee (costales?) at the higher price. No. 2 is going to stay loyal to El Paraíso. He tells No. 1 that he ought to reconsider and leaves. Cipriano laughs at him for not thinking big.
Someone Else is Leaving on a Plane
Flavia is seeing Uli off. They agree they had a very good time together over the weekend. She has probably told him about her mother’s reaction. He hopes she doesn’t get into trouble seeing him off. He stops at the top of the escalator and kisses her intensely. They separate. They are both breathing mighty heavily.
Ice Cream for Two, or Three, or Four, or Five
Iván has picked up his stray luggage and now wants to take Mari to a shop for some really good ice cream. As they pick out their flavors, Mustard Man comes in and greets Sal in a very loud voice. (We didn’t know he and Consta were there until just that instant.) Mari looks over and hears Sal introducing his fellow professor at the University to Constanza. Then she hears him introduce Consta to Mustard Man as his novia. Mari turns to Iván. Isn’t she the woman who just the day before was to marry Max? Yes, answers Iván.
Freeze-frame on their caras de impactadas.
Well, let's see how fast Mariana and Ivan can get the juicy bit of gossip back to Amaya and Max! Busted!
I also love that Amaya's chat with Vale took the wind out of Whor's slander sails. Ha!
Poor Max does look beat and Amaya continues seemed relaxed: she knows that Max is available and she has made a tequila pledge to fight for him so she is in a calm before the storm. Max, on the other hand, doesn't know that the woman he truly loves is free so he doesn't have the same hope that Amaya has.
Vivi, I hope Mariana does get to Max and let that darned divorce cat out of the bag! I can't remember if Mariana knows how Amaya feels about Max though. I wish somebody would tell him already. We have GOT to have an "I know you're free and I love you" reunion THIS WEEK!
Thank you, Anita for enlivening another important though sedate episode. That's ok. Love me some tousled-hair Max!
Another winner with some things I had missed. I wrote down "pagar con la misma moneda." I like that expression. Pehaps I can work it into a conversation with my Hispanic friends this weekend.
I liked the way Amaya explained things to Valeria and how Val rubbed it in to her father how alone she felt the night before. He, however, had no self-recrimination.
Juliana seems genuinely happy that Jorge is going out with Carolina. She doesn't want him to be alone. She is not ready for another relationship, but Eloisa advises here that with time, she may find another love. She is young and beautiful. Life has many surprises in store.
I am tired of having Max remain in the dark re Amaya's single status.
Enough is a enough. Viewers are anxious for this revelation.
Thanks again, Anita.
Excellent work.
All the best to all,
I think Sal is less scary today. Although I think he could still be a threat to Max if he thought Connie was going to try to re-establish a relationship with him, he was way more reasonable, more willing to take things at a slow, measured pace. It was actually Connie who proposed it but having the cold water of being called Max splashed in his face did indeed cool his jets. Living together doesn't sound like starting from zero but, hey, they are grown ups.
I think we all agree with you Floridia that they have squeezed all the juice out of this "Max doesn't know Amaya is free" story line. Basta! Ya! I'm ready for our anguished lovers to have some comfort and joy, even if it is chaste embraces and passionate kisses!
Uli is a bad guy, but damn he and Flavia heat up the screen.
1. Uli is indeed a scumbag.
2. Mauro and Amaya never were lovers.
3. She covered up her tracks well re her crimes against humanity.
Lucrezia may be horrible, but she's not the worst judge of character around here.
Loving this show, but can't comment too much since I'm watch online and am ahead a few episodes (catching up for the holidays). Thanks everyone for all the recaps since I normally use Spanish subtitles, and not having them is a challenge. You're filling in the details nicely!
Kelly
Good day QA fans! Well, we are still in a re-drawing the lines which define who are the allies and enemies of our lovers, Amaya and Maximiliano after the WB. We must be patient. Let’s dive right in! Mariana and Ivan have gone to the airport at Tuxla to retrieve his luggage. They stop at an ice cream shop within the airport when a random customer shines the spotlight on Salvador and Constanza. The shop is small enough that they hear Sal introduce Connie as his novia, his girlfriend. Mariana starts sputtering with anger. How can this be her novio when yesterday she was going to marry Max? Mariana wants to go and confront her right then for dragging her sister’s name through the mud when SHE’S the one who is a hypocritical, bold-faced liar! Ivan hustles her out.
Random friend is a university associate. He wants to know what Connie is doing now. She had a recent change of plans in a project she was working on so she’s not exactly sure. If she’s available he and Sal can find her a position in the university. Just let him know.
Connie asks why Sal presented her as his novia. It seems natural to Sal: he presented her as he sees her in the place he wants her to hold in his life. She is the woman he loves and if she doesn’t want this place in his life, all she has to do is say so. Connie, unsmiling, sighs heavily.
Outside Ivan is appealing to hot-headed Mari that yes Max and Amaya need to know but its for them to confront Connie, not her. Oh, Mariana fumes, it’s just that she can’t stand two-faced people. Amaya needs to put her in her place! You can almost see the light bulb go off over Mari’s suddenly brightened face as she asks to borrow Ivan’s cell. They go back in. Mariana pretends to take a picture of Ivan and gets a picture of an off-lips kiss Connie gives Sal. Oblivious, Connie apologizes for questioning his motives for his introduction, tells him te quiero, he answers te amo and this time they share a full-mouthed kiss which Mariana captures on the phone! Pay dirt! There will be no misunderstandings now! This photo proves THEY are the ones cheating while trying to slander her sister! Ivan has to nearly carry her out of the ice cream shop again!
Elo, Mauro, Lucio and Alan lighten things up for us. Lucio wants to go to Italy with Juliana, Alan and Elo to pack the house in preparation for the permanent move back to Mexico. Mauro pretends to issue a firm “NO” but gives in after two seconds, surrendering to the delighted hugs of Lucio and Alan!
Delores discusses her fears about Amaya and Max beginning a relationship together now that they are both free. She does not need to suffer another disgrace and needs to stay far away from the Montesinos. Padre understands but they love each other, Amaya is not a child and Delores can’t protect her like she did when she was little. The best she can do is warn Amaya to be careful and take precautions. Delores prays to The Almighty to protect Amaya. We know Delores is an ally of Amaya but of Max, not so much!
Lu meets with Fake Dr. to warn him that Mauro wants to discuss Lucio’s progress, or lack thereof, in therapy. Fake Doc is nervous about meeting with Mauro and doesn’t want to be left alone with him: he is sharp and doesn’t forget any details. Lu tells him to suck it up and control his nerves. He’s an actor! Improvise! He is to just say this is part of the process and things will get better with time. “Doc” says that it must suck to have a son like that. Lu doesn’t respond to this expression of “empathy”. These two are enemies to everybody!
Amaya is back from buying newspapers. Vale is eating popcorn and watching her English language movie accompanied by the cute and chill Chocolate. She tells Amaya that her dad called and wanted to see her but she told him she preferred to stay at home AND that her mom is NOT Max’s novia! He wanted to tell her all about the WB but she told him she already knew.
Mariana texts Amaya the picture of Connie and Max kissing in the ice cream shop. Amaya walks away from Vale and is open-mouthed impactada!
Ah! Another moment that allows us to exhale! Jorge and Caro share how much they will miss each other as he goes off to La Finca and she to talk to and offer support to Amaya. [Thanks, kids! Somebody’s got to get some lovin’ around here!] These two are allies for sure!
How do you like that slut? Mariana asks Amaya over the phone. Amaya admits the picture stunned her. Mariana says she was going to give her a piece of her mind but Ivan stopped her. She declares that it is obvious Connie lied and left Max at the altar so she could run away with somebody else. THAT’S the real reason, not you, Amaya. She feels this is proof positive for Amaya. No doubt this girl is an ally!
Well, it’s not the kind of lovin’ we pine for but it’s a nice hot cup o Joe and some homespun wisdom from Chelo to Max in her warm and brightly-tiled kitchen. This is a difficult thing that has happened but that woman wasn’t worthy of him but one will come along who is. Life always gives us opportunities to love again. What he needs is a woman with an affinity to the finca like he has, a woman who loves these fertile and beautiful lands the way he does. She encourages him to keep the faith, and not to lose hope.
Mariana is still pissed. Ivan kisses her to cool her anger. She pretends to walk away but then runs back slow mo’ to kiss him. She prettily sashays away. Ivan heaves a twitterpated sigh.
Well, Lu and her spawn are busy this morning as well. First to LuCrazya. She meets the gullible and eager to hate Emma for lunch. After a protracted period of complaining about Juliana she spins Mauro’s planned hiring of Amaya into a call to arms for Emma! He’s going to install Amaya right in Nescafe! Emma can’t believe it! Amaya is Max’s lover. Well, Mauro doesn’t believe it and thinks Amaya is the victim. She tried to stop him but he wouldn’t listen to her. Emma has GOT to put this woman in her place! Yes. It’s time Amaya knew that she and Whoracio got a thang going on and her apartment, her turf, is the perfect setting! Need I say it?
The devil’s spawn meanwhile is working on Amaya. He starts by rubbing salt in Amaya’s wounded heart by casting Max as distraught over the loss of his only true love, Connie. Oh, and he doesn’t believe a word of the lies they are telling on her. She is totally incapable of going with an engaged man. After oiling her up sufficiently he skillfully takes credit for the plan to put her in head of a new publicity agency within Nescafe. He’s worried about her reputation. He proposed this to his papa and he’s thinking about it. Cesar is sure Manuel will fire her and it may be hard to find another position. This way her reputation will remain intact. Amaya doesn’t get how this is going to work, won’t it just confirm all the gossip about her and Max? Well, people will see that because she is a partner with Mauro in the 3-in-1 product, they will understand the relationship with Max is totally professional. They will see that it was a whim and insecurity on Connie’s part that made her detonate the WB. Amaya is still uncertain this will stop the gossip: she doesn’t want Vale hurt. Look, says Cesar, his Papa is respectable and people will know that he wouldn’t let her work there if she and Max were lovers. Her presence in Nescafe will prove that Connie was lying.
Oh, one small favor. Mauro is going to call in a couple of days to make the proposal. Cesar wants Amaya to act like she’s never heard this when Mauro pitches HIS idea to her. [Amaya, how did it work the last time you pretended not to know a vital piece of information? Doh!] Why is he doing this, she asks? Oh, he can’t let a fine woman like herself be mixed up in this gossip; he would never stand for it, NEVER! Amaya promises to feign surprise when Mauro makes the proposal. And then she utters words she will come to regret and which we already do: There is no doubt you are my Guardian Angel.
Cesar prepares to leave; he asks if Max has called her. No, not as yet. Well, Cesar offers, he’s probably so torn up. In matters of love and such Max is so weak and when it comes to Connie, well, he’ll never forget her. Amaya winces. Oh, here are the keys to your new house. Amaya laughs. She could’ve sworn he already gave them to her. Hmmm. As he leaves she tells him that in repayment for this, if there’s ever anything he needs, he can count on her. Amaya does a happy dance and fists pump at the prospect of her new job. This guy is NOT an ally. He’s an enemy. We know it, but Amaya does not!
Hector has brought Max a new phone charger! Poopy cakes! It’s the wrong one. Max decides to accompany Hector around the finca. Work is going to be the best therapy!
Uli is welcomed back to El Deseo by Efrain. Things are going well, the one stooge, Cipriano is buying up coffee. And, there’s other news. Marianita has a novio, that Ivan at El Paraiso. Ivan strokes his goatee. He is not happy! We don’t like this guy and neither does Lu. How did we get in THAT company?
Amaya and Caro discuss the damning kissing photo. Amaya rejects the idea of showing it to Manuel or Mauro. If Connie is so bold as to engage in pda with Sal it will soon come to light without her having to stoop to the same level Connie has. The only way she will use it is if she has to defend her innocence with Valeria against Whor or someone else’s attempts to poison Val against her. Resisting the urging of Caro, she won’t even show it to Max. She doesn’t want to show it to Max and cause him pain. [Let’s suppress a growl here.] According to Cesar, Connie is the only woman he’s ever really loved. Caro begs to differ. She thinks Max has felt love for both of them.
It’s a full moon over the Mansion Montesinos. Mauro, Lu, Elo, Flavia, and Juliana are having dinner. Lu opposes Lucio going to Italy as he’ll miss his “therapy.” Lu will contact Fake Doc and tell him of Lucio’s missing some appointments. Flavia brings up the topic of returning the wedding presents. Lu yells at her to take her hat off the table, as if she has not seen her wearing it. Flavia doffs it angrily but quickly recovers that she will be happy to take care of the presents before she goes to the finca in a few days. She smiles broadly. This would be a good time to announce what everybody will soon find out. She’s got a boyfriend! Lu cries that Flavia is doing this just to get her dander up! A hissy fit/cat fight ensues. This guy is no good. . . .You just met him. . . .I like him. . . .That’s the way love is. . .Mauro has to call them down. He decides when Max returns, she can go to El Paraiso with him!
Oh, and by the way, Mauro thinks it’s more appropriate for Lu to work with his Secretary to return the gifts. Lu is pissed and takes it out on Flavia predicting she will rue the day she got involved with this good for nothing interloper!
Cesar is working hard today, giving the devil his due. Next stop: Manuel. There is no love lost between these two and they acknowledge it up front. Using similar tactics as with Amaya, he expresses regret over the WB. To Manuel’s expression of surprise at Max’s betrayal, Cesar spews his bile: Everybody thinks Max is perfect. Max is a hypocrite who likes to play with women. He denies knowing about “the affair” but he knew Max was a big phony, pretending to be a goody two shoes when he’s not. Cesar shifts from poison to proposition: he offers to buy Manuel’s shares in Nescafe.
Manuel turns him down. Selling his shares is not something he planned to do. Now, friends, help fill in some of these details. I know Cesarin (Manuel calls him his full name, an act of disaffection) tells Manuel about Mauro’s ad agency proposal. Did Manuel say this was an act of betrayal? I know Cesar lied and said that Mauro didn’t care whether Manuel sold the shares or not and if Cesar wanted them, he could buy them. Cesar said that supporting Max and Amaya was more important than any friendship that might’ve existed between the two. Manuel looks even more disillusioned with this “news.” We know Cesar is an enemy and Manny is on his way to becoming one. Max knows Manny is pissed and disillusioned and he doesn’t trust Cesar. Amaya has been alerted about Manny’s anger but she is TOTALLY clueless about Cesar.
Back at El P. Hortensia brings bag Max’s lunch tray. Pobrecito, he hardly touched a bite. Ivan, Hector, Horty and Chelo discuss the WB. We agree with Horty that Connie must be “bien bruta” (a big dummy) to stand Max up at the altar. All are aware of Connie’s jealousy of Amaya when they were all together at El P. Ivan breaks the Connie/Sal/kissing story. Horty and Chelo’s eyes blare as big as 12-inch tortillas! He tells them that Mari has pictures to prove it. He wonders if he should show Max. You darn tootin’ cries Chelo! His heart has been destroyed and she’s running around town with another man! Jorge walks in and wants to know what’s up.
Mari is also discussing C/S/k with her parents. Delores think it was Divine Providence that Mari was there to witness the truth of her sister’s innocence! Cip thinks this is all hogwash and harangues them about the superior morals of the poor and working class as compared to the idle rich. As usual, the conversation devolves into arguing. Mari suggests a change of subject. She wants them to meet her new novio, Ivan. [Did she think that would dry up Cip’s yowling?] Cip’s verbal flatulence fouls the air: he doesn’t ever want to meet that starving-to-death good for nothing. She needs to find a higher class boyfriend, and then he’ll meet him. Cip leaves. Delores comforts Mari. Bring him over to meet me. That will be enough. Poor Mari: sometimes she wonders if Cip is really her papa! [Well, we’ve heard this before. . . hmmmm.]
The early dawn still of Popocatépetl signals that it as new day. Amaya and Vale are having breakfast. There is some sort of competition coming up for which Amaya has forgotten to sign the permission slip. She does so and I think Vale charms her into promising to attend. I don’t understand what the competition is about.
Let’s pop in briefly at Nescafe. Emma struts into Whor’s office to tell him Cesar wants to see him. Whor begins to fret and speculate what could be up. She drops another bomblet: Mauro is going to launch an ad agency within Nescafe and put Amaya over it. Lu told her. Emma wonders what kind of mojo his ex-wife has to have father AND son eating out of her hand. She tosses her head and struts back out.
Ah, here’s our Max all fresh and neatly combed! [Though I prefer the tousled mop top] Jorge enters and probes why he couldn’t contact him. Max needed to get some rest so took a sleeper and his phone has been dead and he’s without a charger. He has information on Amaya. Yes, yes, Max knows: Manuel is probably going to fire her and Mauro is going to open an ad agency within Nescafe for her to head and continue her campaigns. He says this as he absently leafs through papers. Max thinks this is a good idea: she’ll get the backing and protection of Mauro, people will respect her and not dare speak ill of her and he himself will also clarify everything.
Well, there are more important things to talk about, Jorge begins. The most important thing is that Amaya is a free woman. No. That’s not true. Max argues that the last time he saw Amaya she was with her husband and daughter and she told him herself that she was happily married. That is not true. Amaya lied to you so that she would not interpose herself between you and Connie.
Max stands up now and asks Jorge if he is sure of what he is saying? Absolutely sure answers Jorge. If this is true then I have a chance with her! A real chance! Now Jorge is standing. It’s true and that is why you needed to know. You also need to know that Connie knew. Connie made Amaya not tell because she knew you would leave her for Amaya. Why did Amaya allow this? He repeats, out of respect for your decision to marry Connie and also loyalty to Don Manuel.
Max starts getting his stuff together to get hat! (“to get hat” means to leave RIGHT NOW and decisively. Old school slang!) But wait! There’s more. Connie is in Chiapas right now. Looking for me? No. For Salvador. Jorge tells him he knows the photo he’s going to show him is cruel but it would be more cruel not to tell him that Connie sought consolation in the arms of someone who claimed to be your friend.
We freeze on the handsome and mildly stunned face of our beloved Max as he looks at the cell phone capture of C/S/k.
Well Floridia and other fans of those muscular Maximiliano embraces: Now that THE SECRET is out, tomorrow's looking pretty good, hunh? Yaaay! Max is ready to go find his Amaya!
Flavia's kinda grown on me. She hasn't been mean to Mari in a while so that helps. Plus, Lu is such a vicious nag to her I feel sorry for her! I think she probably IS jealous of her own daughter's youth and beauty.
So glad Elo and Lucio get to get out of that frick.in. house! Criminey!
Lu and Cesar. What can you say? A couple of baaaad apples! Spreading dissent, distrust and all kinds of disses within the personal and corporate family. Devils!
Well. Don't be no stranger now! QA regulars, lurkers, let's talk about this thang! Goodnight for now. See y'all in the morning!
As gringo says: Must see TV!
I've liked Flavia more lately, too. I'm sorry she's going to be deceived by Uli and with Mariana of all people. I hope Uli's desires don't extend to harming or killing Ivan to get his way.
I used the new robot button on another forum and decided to try and skip it on this one. The comment got published without proving I'm a robot. Maybe it's a secret we shouldn't be sharing, ha!
Thanks and I'll see you later in comments. I had something I wanted a second opinion on if you, Vivi, Sara or Floridia could help me. You'll see the question there. I think you're going to get a good episode today! Max has got to see Amaya in person!
Hi, Vivi! I appreciate you and everyone hanging out on the patio especially this busy time of year! That Mariana is a real spit-fire ain't she?
To all of you: anybody think there's anything to this feeling both Cip and Mari have had that he is not her daughter? Delores has her illness and finding out the truth about the Great Accidents and that's storyline enough. Maybe my novella imagination is just working overtime!
Awesome recap. How do you know about "get hat?" Are you a native Spanish speaker? I love to learn new idioms. What are the actual Spanish words for this expression?
Another cell phone delay. I am disappointed with the writers for this. Enough is enough or as you noted the other day, "Basta, ya!"
At this point, I am not even hopeful for today. Perhaps, it will be Friday .. and then the weekend.
I didn't understand what the permission slip was about, but I am hoping it would be for a group sleepover for Val, allowing Max and Amaya complete privacy for their reunion, and this time there might be the much anticipated explosives resulting in a pregnancy. After all, at this point, neither will be able to hold back. Caution much be hurled to the four winds.
After that, predictably, there will be a myriad of problems and another long wait before they reunite. Amaya does not want Val to think she has a novio, even though Val is fond of Max and would make a super dad for her and their new offspring.
Much to come before that all occurs, and Lulu continues to hatch her strategic plan to eliminate Amaya altogether. She is gaining ground.
I am still waiting for Cons to want to do the deed with Sal.
To me, Sal is definitely not
Mr. Personality. He has become an extremely boring broken record.
A clever and skilled, entertaining conversationalist, he is not. He speaks on one topic only. "Do you like me, Cons? Will you love me, Cons? I love you, Cons,
I want to be with you, Cons. Let's live together, Cons. Let me know when you want to make love, Cons," on and on ad infinitum.
From Love Story, "Love is Never Having to Say You're Sorry. Another important maxim for True Love is, "Never ask a potential partner if he/she loves you. It makes the interrogator look like a total DUD with no sex appeal whatsoever. A lover must demonstrate confidence, hold an attractive mystique and maintain great appeal. I'd want to "get hat" fast and go as far away as possible from Sad Sack Sal.
In Max's case, he knew that Amaya had strong feelings for him, but he was confused by the signals she wss sending. The chemistry between them was undeniable, and he knew it.
Lila, thanks for covering many important details.
Also, whatever happened to Mauro's plan to divorce Lulu? Did he give up that idea after her contriteness at his hospital bed?
Interesting the contrasting lies Cesar told about Max. To Amaya he's a faithful, one-woman man and that woman is Consta. It'll be hard for him to put that behind him. To Manuel, Max is a playboy and a hypocrite, passing himself off as a goody-two-shoes.
Cesar must have developed a grand plan during the night he was pacing around his bedroom after Paid Companion left.
Lila--You did the whole episode justice. Your asides were just perfect for us--we join you in agreeing with each one. Well, except for Max's hairdo. I still like his shorter, just plain, combed hair in AB.
As for others, I'm getting more attracted to Jorge! In many of his scenes, he reminds me of Santiago in Montecristo (played by Diego Olivera)- the 2006 TV Azteca version. What do you think, Vivi?
I really want Max to form not only a loving but a supportive alliance with Amaya so she can learn the truth about Cesar. I hate her thinking Cesar is her guardian angel! He and his momma are just spewing poison everywhere!
"Get hat" is an old slang term, totally American English, Midwest, late 60s, early 70s I think!
;D
Example: I swear Vale was talking about cheerleaders. Lol
As for the Manny César convo: that was business and I didn't listen for details. I figured Manny said no and César said to let him know if he changed his mind.
Thanks Sara! Anita confirmed I did better than I thought!
Oh. And yes. Jorge IS hot, and kind, and wise, and sensitive, and understanding, and gentle.. .all of which make him even more HOT!
Lila--When we hear characters say something more than once, we have to pay attention. However, remember in one of Dolores vs. Cip arguments about Mariana, he implied that based on her rebelliousness, he wondered if she were even his child. Dolores got quite angry with him and told him he knows VERY WELL, Mariana is his child.
She could still be lying to protect Mariana, but I don't think a church-going, sainted woman like Dolores would have had relations outside of marriage. And that's what it would have to have been. Mariana was born late in life to her. All the years she was raising Amaya, there were no other children in her marriage, until Mariana came along. I'm going to go with Mariana being Cip's.
That was Floridia, not me who has Amaya carrying Max's love child. But it makes sense if we are supposed to have the present relationships mirror the past. Consta and Amaya will both have to be pregnant and Max will have to choose. No spoiler. It's so obvious that's what the writers WANT us to think. We fervently hope that is NOT going to be the case, though.
And yes, I remember Mauro's plan to divorce Lu. I guess he did buy her little act in the hospital room and has also gotten swept up in the whirlwind of events that he hasn't thought of it again. I'm sure Lu will refresh his memory!
Now, on to work on the recap. When will I ever learn to be brief!
Lila--Here is the schedule:
Week of Dec 15:
Mon Dec 15 Anita
Tue Dec 16 Anita
Wed Dec 17 Anita
Thu Dec 18 Lila
Fri Dec 19 Lila
Except Anita and I switched. I took Wednesday and She has today.
Cool everyone?
Lila reminds us.
“The handsome and mildly stunned face of our beloved Max as he looks at the cell phone capture,” melts from yesterday’s freeze-frame. He grows more incredulous as Jorge tells him of What Mariana Saw and captured on Iván’s cell phone—the infamous (or soon will be) C/S/K.
Constanza
For some reason we are interrupted by a sad scene of Constanza reviewing her happier kisses with Max. (I guess we are expected to feel sorry for her right now.)
Max is angry.
He takes a good look at C/S/K and then looks up at Jorge pretty angry. So it wasn’t for his supposed infidelity with Amaya that Consta left him in the lurch (plantado) at the church. If she’s with him, kissing him, it’s obvious she had feelings for him. Jorge agrees and says Consta wasn’t totally honest with Max. He showed him the photo, not to hurt him, but so he could put all this behind him. Max says he already has and admits not getting married was for the best. He feels freer, there isn’t anything owing (no hay deuda) between him and Consta. She fell in love with Salvador and he fell in love with Amaya. What he is angry about is the form, the way it all happened, dragging Amaya’s name through the mud.
He has no qualms about his and Consta’s relationship being over, but he doesn’t hold any grudges. He loved her a lot, still cares for her, but wishes her well with Sal and the direction she has chosen with her life. But now he’s free to love Amaya the way he should and he’s going to fight to make her love him as much as he loves her. Jorge offers to take him to the airport. Yes, says Max, time’s a wasting, he wants to see Amaya as soon as possible.
Whoracio gets called to Jesús
Whoracio, full of trepidation and clearly nervous, goes in to meet with César. He’s worrying about his future at Nescafé and admits to César he knows all about the WB that happened on Saturday. He has no opinion on the matter. He knew Amaya was cheating on him, but not that it was with his brother. He’s aware that both will deny it. He knew that while she was in the hospital in Chiapas after her accident, someone filled her room with flowers and she took off with some man. (Careful, boy, that’s not how it happened. YOU filled Dolores’ house with flowers.) He doesn’t actually say Max’s name when Cece asks if he was the one. Whoracio has no doubts it was.
César is surprised by Amaya’s behavior. He didn’t think Whoracio’s ex was such a frivolous woman (mujer tan liviana). Apparently, says Whoracio, and deceitful, and ambitious, to boot. She is coming to work here, isn’t she? Whoracio wonders where that leaves him. César assures him as long as he’s loyal and unconditionally on his side, the job is his. (There’s a cute little exchange where Whoracio sits down and says he feels a lot better to know Cece is unconditionally on his side. Cece stares at him and Whoracio jumps up while Cece sits down in the same guest chair and tells him he’s very mistaken. Cece is not unconditionally on his side, Whoracio is to be unconditionally on HIS side.) The Whor agrees to this unconditional condition. Cece can count on him. (César circles in closer and closer, invading Whoracio’s personal space, until he is practically sniffing Whoracio’s neck, euwwww!)
Manuel is lying in wait for Amaya.
He tells her he opened up the doors of his business and arranged special hours for her and she deceived him by getting involved with his daughter’s fiancé. Amaya can’t get a word in edgewise in her defense. He yells at her that she’s fired and to pick up her things and begone. She swears there never was anything between her and Max. Manuel is too worked up to listen to or believe there could be any other version than his daughter’s. He swears he will take it upon himself to ruin her reputation. Amaya gets this much through. Before he damages her reputation any more than his daughter already has, he should affirm (cerciorar) the whereabouts of his daughter and with whom. He opens the door to usher her out. Amaya tells him she quits. She has her dignity intact and has nothing to be ashamed of. He slams the door as Amaya walks out.
Max and Jorge are about to leave for the airport.
They see Iván and want to know from him who else saw the photo of C/S/K. It was Jorge, himself, Mariana and Amaya. Ooops. Jorge wonders if she showed the photo to Don Manuel. That’s a possibility because they all know Don M. is going to fire her. Iván is happy to hear she won’t be unemployed for long. He’ll be sure to tell Mariana. Jorge goes back for Max’s phone charger (I guess he brought it with him from Mexico City.)
Morning in Tuxtla.
Wake up and Smell the Coffee. It’s like Consta and Sal have been at this keeping house for more than one night. Oh, and they sleep in separate rooms. She was going to knock, but decided to let him sleep. He says she should treat this place like her own and can do anything she wants to. She’ll get the coffee. (mmmm! Good!) He’s going to get a quick shower and then help her with breakfast. He invites her to go to the airport to pick up a box of material he asked to have shipped from the city. Afterwards, they can go get something to eat. (Does anybody want to put money on the chance that Max, Jorge, Consta and Sal run into each other??)
Amaya ends it with Manuel.
At the other end of that 11½ hour drive, Amaya has already been up, reported to work, fired (make that quit), packed up her personal belongings and is out the door. Mauro calls her and wants to have breakfast with her. He wants to talk to her. I guess she knows where he is, she’s on it right away.
Caro sees Amaya in the parking lot. They exchange news. Amaya tells Caro that if Mauro offers her the position César talked to her about, Caro will be going with her to Nescafé. Squeeee! They hug. They come as a package.
Amaya found the restaurant and Mauro is excited about her future with Nescafé. Amaya pretends to be hearing all this for the first time. She thinks it was César’s idea he proposed to Mauro, when in fact it was Juliana’s. How many episodes will go by before they find out that lie? The first thing Mauro needs from her is to do a promotional film at El Paraíso with the ceremonies beginning the harvest and the fiesta. While she’s gone, he’ll structure the new agency and prepare offices for her and Carolina—and for anyone else she may need to hire. He wants them to start this week.
Amaya wants to know if Max agrees to this arrangement. Mauro assures her he already talked to Max and he is. Max wants to talk to her soon. They laugh over the dead cell phone. Amaya starts to swear---about her non-relationship with Max, but Mauro stops her in mid-sentence. She doesn’t need to swear anything to anybody. He believes in her innocence.
Consta calls her pa.
She tells him she’s ok. He was worried. She is his priority. Consta wants to know if he’s heard anything from Max-No, and Amaya? Manuel tells her he just got through firing her. But curiously she accuses Consta with defaming her and to check to see where she was. He didn’t think take her seriously. She tells him she’s out in the countryside, enjoying its peace and tranquility. Consta does NOT tell him whom she is with. She’ll let him know as soon as she makes some firm decision about her life. Manuel feels so deceived by all the Montesinos, when she asks about them. He can’t believe what he just heard, Mauro is going to start a publicity department within Nescafé and Amaya has been hired to head it. Consta thinks that’s a real betrayal to a friend, to hire Max’s lover. He can’t do a thing about it, even with his owning shares in the company. Mauro has more voice than he does. He may decide to sell his shares as a way of showing his displeasure of his hiring that woman.
Max and Jorge finally leave for the airport.
Jorge bets Caro knows something about the photo of C/S/K. He calls he and leaves a voice mail to call him back.
Carolina is also quitting.
She tells Manuel she’s quitting in solidarity with Amaya. He points out Amaya can’t feed or house her, but Caro says she had already decided as soon as she heard Don Manuel might fire Amaya. She tells Manuel she can assure him nothing happened between Max and Amaya while they were in Chiapas. He doesn’t want to talk anymore about that. He doesn’t want her to leave the business. He offers to renegotiate her contract, but she’s firm in her decision. Hearing that, he wants her to leave right away, rather than when he finds a replacement. It’s obvious he’s suddenly anxious to get rid of her.
She calls Jorge and explains she couldn’t take his call. She was in the middle of quitting her job with Don Manuel. Jorge asks about the photo Amaya got with C/S/K from Mariana and whether she had shown it to anyone else, like Don Manuel. Caro is firm that not only she didn’t, but she wouldn’t. Amaya is sure that sooner or later it will come out that Consta left Max for Salvador. She won’t stoop to Consta’s level. Furthermore, she didn’t want Max to see it because she didn’t want to hurt him. Max has heard all this on speakerphone in the car. What Amaya did makes him love her all the more.
OK, Patio Peeps – This is important Lucrecia-German reveals, so bear with me.
Lucrecia, dripping in pearls and ready to go somewhere (diving for oysters maybe). She’s shocked to see someone she recognizes in her parlour. We recognize him. It’s German, Eloisa’s ex, who, we have been lead to believe set her up to take the fall for a fraud he committed. Elo believes he was to blame for her going to jail for five years.
Now we get the REAL story. He has come to see Eloisa. Luce says it’s a little late, isn’t it? Gerr says it’s never too late to correct a mistake. Lucrecia says she’s traveling and won’t want to see him anyway. He’s already seen her, at the church, but she didn’t want to talk to him. He tells Luce not to worry, he didn’t tell Elo that Luce was responsible for her ending up in jail. Luce is offended. He’s the one at fault. She wants him to leave, but Gerr won’t leave until he and Luce have a talk.
Meanwhile, Eloisa is on her way to the airport with Juliana, Alan and Lucio. She shares with Juliana a bit more of her situation. She saw German at the church. She was filled with anger and hurt to see him there. Juliana tells her the best way to bring closure is not to avoid him, but to confront him.
Luce tries to get rid of Gerr. He starts to tell us what really went down, since Luce already knows. He tells us Luce knows very well he was a victim in that fraud case. That’s why he called her and asked Luce to help Eloisa by getting her out of the country before the police could detain her since all the papers had her name on them. Luce insists that she did not want to become an accessory after the fact. German says it wouldn’t have happened. All she needed to do was to give her the message and buy Elo a plane ticket to get her to Houston, where he was waiting for her. All he needed was time to clear his name and hers. But oddly, rather than helping her, the police very quickly showed up to detain her.
Luce says it was a pity that happened. Gerr says it didn’t just “happen,” Luce tipped them off. Luce thinks that’s stupid. German drops a BOMBA. He says he paid for not falling for Luce’s charms. He paid dearly for not having gone to bed with Lucrecia. Luce screws up her face as though she’s just swallowed some bad-tasting medicine. He says Luce could never support the idea that he loved Eloisa. She recovers quickly. Nothing he has said can be proven. He’s very aware of that, but Eloisa is going to learn the truth. Maybe it’s too late for Eloisa to believe him, but he wants to tell her why he could never become Lucrecia’s lover. Luce betrayed her. (Is this one more murder to be added to Lucrecia’s to-do list?)
As soon as he leaves, Luce calls her special private investigator. She wants all there is on German Marquez. And she wants it quickly.
Aaron is meeting with César about their dirty dealings.
The coffee fraud they have going with Whoracio is working well. Aaron hands him a suitcase and we get a fraction of a second glimpse inside—it’s money. Aaron doesn’t understand why César is doing all this. Aaron is in it for the money. What does Cece need with money? He’s already rich and powerful. Cece says it’s the thrill of the thrill. He wants Aaron to find someone else to involve. Whoracio is an imbecile and he thinks he will make better use of him somewhere else. (Something else is going on here. César asks Aaron if he will be able to get “that substance” he asked for. Aaron says by tomorrow. He didn’t know how hard it was going to be to obtain it. Aaron wants to know what it’s for. Cece “says” it’s not for him. He doesn’t know either and it’s not for him to ask, just do as he’s told. (Hmmm, is he lying or is it for Lucrecia.)
Genoveva is on Manuel’s back.
Manuel tries to blow her off about “their business.” Yes, he knows they were supposed to settle things after the wedding, but there was no wedding. Geno says that’s no excuse. She’s already put her life on hold for many years. She’s not disposed to keep on taking care of herself and their son indefinitely. He caves. He’ll meet her in the regular place.
No flights till 5 pm.
It’s still morning, or getting close to lunch. Max tells Jorge to go back to the finca. Jorge insists on hanging out with him until the flight leaves. Max has the opportunity to talk to his dad. Mauro tells him the good news. Amaya and Caro have accepted the jobs at Nescafé. They toast with their paper cups full of coffee. He tells Jorge they will both be coming to Chiapas to make the coffee videos. Max hopes that having her here, she will accept him and they will be able to live their love. His priority that day is Amaya. Jorge is happy for him.
Amaya and Caro are at Amaya’s.
They are sharing a cup of Product Placement Instant Nescafé while they talk about Manuel, the new job, the trip to the finca, Don Mauro, Max, Jorge and the photo of C/S/K. So, Amaya deduces Max knows about Constanza. She wonders if Max will come looking for her. Caro thinks there’s no doubt about it. He’s going to be at the finca and she’ll soon be at the finca, near where they met and where their lands are (another nod to Mauro and Florencia, perhaps).
Venice, Italy
The travelers have arrived at Juliana’s Venice apartment. Alan and Lucio go off to his room. Elo and Juli talk. It’s so painful for her to be here, remembering Franco. They are good memories, Elo reminds her. Yes, but she thinks the decision to move to Mexico is the right one. She might keep this place, rent it out for now, but perhaps Alan might have some use for it in the future. Juliana comments again how wonderful Elo is. Elo returns the feelings. She says Mauro adores her and that’s sufficient for her to love her. How Juliana wished she had been the one to marry Mauro. How different their lives would have been.
Mauro arranges Amaya’s future at Nescafé.
Poor Mauro, he doesn’t realize that all the wonderful arrangements he’s making, are as close to a pact with the devil sitting in front of him. Emma is taking it all in. Mauro wants money deposited in a new account, he wants space made available for offices for the new subsidiary (sucursal), etc. Emma is shocked to find out he has pre-selected candidates for the positions (not that part, because she already knew) and the salaries that go with them. Oh, and by the way, before she goes, Mauro tells her he wants that man, Horacio Espinoza out of his office. Emma starts to protest that Horacio is César’s right hand man. Mauro doesn’t see the problem. Horacio doesn’t need to be right next to Cece physically to be his right hand man. She can put him somewhere else, as long as it isn’t anywhere he could run across his ex-wife. Mauro wants to talk to that man.
It’s a good thing Jorge stayed at the airport.
Guess who shows up—nah, nobody needs to guess—wait for it, Constanza and Salvador. Jorge is called on to run interference and cool Max off. Max knows all about them now. Max never was unfaithful; everything Sal told her was a lie. He tells her straight to her face it was probably for the best they didn’t get married. He says, “Our love was not what we thought it was or you wouldn’t have looked at Salvador and I wouldn’t have looked at Amaya.” She accuses him of ending it. He didn’t end it. She made that decision. His conscience is clear on that score. He regrets most that they decided to ruin Amaya’s reputation. Sal tries to get one last dig in—what he was going to do to Constanza was worse, Max was going to lead a double life.
No freeze-frame on Constanza that I could detect.
This airport confrontation was a powerful scene. If any one wants, or needs a line by line translation, I can do it tomorrow. I’m all out of energy tonight.
Vocabulario
Plantar = leave someone in the lurch (Me dejó plantada en el altar—is a favorite phrase in telenovelas when it happens to a bride and the groom never shows up. In Max’s case it was on the church steps. Of course, it also means to plant or place.)
No hay deuda = nothing owing
(Una persona) tan liviana = such a frivolous person (César is referring to Amaya.)
Cerciorar = assure, affirm (It’s very close to certificar and averiguar, though the latter also means investigate, find out.)
Sucursal = subsidiary or branch office
Orillar = conclude, ended (Consta said to Max-Tú orillaste ésto. I've never heard of this use. La orilla is at the edge of, like a la orilla del mar, never as in concluding an issue like this one.)
Cesar invading Whor's personal space was a well-played emasculation/domination move on Cesar's part. He's had lots of practice being the alpha male and screwing over others. Let his anvil be red hot with spikes!
It will also be good to see Don Manuel eat those nasty words he spewed at Amaya! So glad she refused the severance pay and quit! That seemed to take a little wind out of his sails. That's why he childishly slammed the door as Amaya left.
How long before Amaya discovers Cesar lied about the ad agency being his idea? Yes, good question for next week's header. Somehow it might be revealed by Juliana but she's in Italy right now.
Glad Manny noted Amaya's questioning Connie's whereabouts and that Connie edited information on where she was and who she was with. Another good question: How long before Manny sees the C/S/K and who reveals it?
Regarding Gerr, Elo said once in an argument with Lu that Lu always took every man that she, Elo, loved. Seems like Elo has been timid and passive for a very long time!
Another good question: What is "that substance"? Oh, the layers of evil with this devil, Cesar. Notice that all the lies he told Manny about Max describe Cesar himself to a tee: womanizer, cynical manipulator of others, hypocrite, liar. . .
I think Emma liked the part about getting Whor away from Amaya. Mauro sure entrusted Emma with a lot of money and information. He's obviously as clueless about his employees as he is about his family!
And, finally, (for now cause I'll be back!) I love the vocab! What a wonderful and useful touch, Anita. That's why I love Caray: fun and educational, too!
Lu is just evil. I couldn't believe she was behind Elo going to jail. I can't wait to get more of that story. I hope Elo gets a happy ending...she deserves it!
Once again, a detailed winner.
Thank you for the Spanish translations. I want to learn as much as I can. If you feel like going into even more depth re the conversation between Constanza and Max, I would be very pleased to read it.
Novela Maven often gives a great deal of vocabulary and idioms which I find fascinating and always appreciate.
I'd like you to confirm or deny the following: I think Mauro was brainstorming briefly with Amaya
about what they should call the new agency, and he mentioned,
"Agencia Privada" and she responded,
"Casa Productora." He seemed to like that name.
Another point I'd like to make is that when Amaya was talking about bringing her friend Caro onboard,
Mauro commented that Friendships are very important -- as he is experiencing the unexpected breakup of his long friendship with Manuel.
Another thing Mauro emphasized was
that he and Max want to protect Amaya from the gossip that might circulate about her - and he added "sobre todo, la Nina"
(Sorry, I cannot type the second
N correctly without leaving the page).
I love the way Mauro tweaked Amaya's nose, thus endearing himself even more to her.
I NEVER KNEW THAT ORILLAR IS A VERB. See the following if interested. Definition #4 would fit Constanza's use of the word.
orillar
to skirt around; to pull over
orillar
transitive verb
1. to skirt around (dificultad, obstáculo)
2. to edge (tela)
Copyright © 2006 Harrap Publishers
orillar
transitive verb
1 [+lago, bosque] to skirt; go round
2 (esquivar) [+dificultad] to avoid; get round; [+tema] to touch briefly on
3 (arreglar) [+negocio] to put in order; tidy up; [+obstáculo] to overcome
4 (concluir) TO WIND UP
5 (Cos) to edge;de with; trim;de with
6
orillar a algn a hacer algo (México) to lead sb to do sth
pronominal verb
orillarse (México) (Automóviles) to pull over
I am thinking that Cesar might want to buy some substance to drug Amaya to put her in a compromising position to use against Max.
Enjoyed all comments.
Have fun, this afternoon and later, Lila, as you prepare our
afternoon or evening delight.
All the best to all.
Can't wait to see today's episode. Looks like we finally get the long awaited reunion where both Max and Amaya know they are both FREE! Yay!
Mauro tweaking Amaya's nose was cute. Clearly, as he has said, he sees her as a daughter.
Miguel was being ridiculous. I had to laugh when he told Caro they were not there to discuss the Amaya-Max issue when she said she knew that nothing happened. Uhm! Hello! The only reason she and Amaya are on the chopping block for their jobs is because he is bringing a personal issue into the workplace! I don't even think what he did is legal. What does Amaya's relationship with two people who are NOT employees of his company (Connie and Max) have to do with her work (which is excellent)?
I couldn't wait; I watched it much earlier than usual. This is the best love scene ever for me!
Excepcional! I will save it and watch it for many years. Thank you writers for this lovely surprise.
Maybe in Mexico they use the term loosely to mean hiring, adding to the personnel payroll y ya.
In a small privately owned company, you can pretty much hire and fire at will can't you? I didn't see enough employees to form a union.
I just got home after being out all day. Glad to see my favorite (and only) commenters taking the time to add some inciteful additions.
Floridia--I'm not sure that is going to be the name of the subsidiary. I think Mauro was fishing for the organizational term and Amaya helped him out. Casa Productora isn't very classy.
Floridia--Also, thank you for expanding the definition of orillar. My ancient dictionary had several definitions: to approach the shore, to border, to conclude, arrange, surmount. The one I picked seemed the one closest to what Consta was charging Max with doing (ending things). But yours - skirting -- fits; as though Max was avoiding the real issue. And what he said back fits, too; Consta was skirting around the real issue.
OK, time out while I go watch this love scene.
Just a reminder, I have an excellent hardcover Spanish-English dictionary, but I use SpanishDictionary.com everyday, several times a day. I added it to my Favorites, and it is always there for me. Occasionally, I may refer to the hardcover to double check but not often. I started this practice 4 years ago when I had to write papers for a Spanish class, and it was so easy to make a simple click to find the word I needed.
Recap probably won't be up til tomorrow !
Is this it?

Declaration de Amor.
I’m going to get right to it! We’re in the airport after the angry reencounter between Max and Connie. I think Max won!
Connie and Sal try to figure out how Max knew they were together. Connie says her dad said Amaya insinuated that he should verify her whereabouts so she must have known. Well, of course Max told her, they are lovers or do you believe they spent the night together and nothing happened. Connie answers, of course not. Sal says they need to forget about Max and echoes Max’s assertion that there are no debts between them. [Oh I hope they used protection the other night at the finca!] He goes off to get the boxes they came for. Connie stands alone, stricken.
Amaya calls Whoracio to tell him that she and Vale are going to be away for a few days and she will also stop by school and inform the Principal. Whor, of course, tries to provoke her into a fight. Amaya remains calm but assertive: this is a business trip and Carolina will be with her as well. Vale is going with her so she won’t be left alone. She’s also going to be moving into her new home, cleaning and setting everything up. He tries again to anger her by mocking how perfect her life is now without him. She ignores him and asks him to call Vale sometime in the afternoon to say goodbye as she’ll be busy in the morning at a competencia de las porras de colegio. [Okay, what is this? A cheerleading competition? A baton twirling competion? Help!]
Back at Nescafe Emma saunters into Whor’s office to show him what salary Mauro has set for Amaya. Oh, and Caro will be with her also and the agency is going to be set up right there in his current office. The two of them will be like princesses. No doubt Amaya is Max’s lover. Whor is deflated and pissed at the same time. Oh yes, and I have orders to move you to an obscure little corner because Don Mauro doesn’t want you to have any contact with her! AND he wants to see you right now.
In the bright sunshine at El P, our two young lovebirds, Ivan and Mariana, briefly discuss the C/S/K and how Max suddenly bolted back to Mexico. Ivan wants to talk about them. What’s up with the plan to meet her parents? Mariana brow furrows and she tells him her dad doesn’t want to meet him. This gives Ivan absolutely no pause. Ivan reassures her everything is fine and not to worry about her dad. Her mother is delighted to meet him. Mari relaxes and they share a slow mo’ kiss and replay several other recent smooches. [They are cute!]
Uh oh! The screen splits! It’s the evil bean pole, Ulises! He is baffled as to how Mariana can prefer Ivan to him: He’s rich and can give her anything her heart desires. He has got to separate her from Ivan, what ever the cost! She belongs to him and she WILL be his! He’s got to get that “starving to death” Ivan out of the picture, but how?
Back at Nescafe Whor has answered Mauro’s summons. Mauro doesn’t want to beat around the bush. He knows Whor is his son’s right hand man but if he causes Amaya any problems, he is fired. He knows their divorce did not end on good terms but he does not want any mixing of personal and work concerns and he does NOT like gossip. Further, he wants everyone that works in the company to respect Amaya, and that includes Whoracio. Whoracio tries to save some face by not only agreeing with Mauro but thanking him for the consideration and attention he is paying his ex-wife and he can count on his respecting her. Unbuttered, Mauro’s gaze is steady: Your position in this company depends on it. *CLANG!* Is that clear? Mauro asks, and dismisses him.
Across town Amaya has gone to pick up Vale and inform the Principal about Vale’s upcoming two-week absence from school. She explains the recent divorce and some unpleasant events causing Vale’s preference to stay with her. Midterms are coming up, the Principal and Amaya make arrangements to get Vale’s assignments and Amaya promises Vale will keep up with her lessons. Amaya asks and the Principal promises to let her know if she observes or learns of Vale having difficulties of any sort: the divorce has been very hard on her.
Whor has taken refuge in Cesar’s office and complains to him about Mauro’s directive and threat. Cesar claims to have advocated for Whor with his father to keep him from being shipped to a lower level location and position. Cesar tells him not to worry, as long as he is his right hand man, there will be work for Whor with him. He advises Whor to wise up, control his anger and frustration. He must forget that his wife put the horns on him with his brother and used him. He must learn to be docile and treat his wife with respect (como una Dama). Change your office and do absolutely everything my papa asks you to do. Cheer up Cesar advises as he pats both of Whor’s shoulders and even his cheek. Cesar winces: his nostrils flare slightly and his upper lip curls a little as he swallows the bile from this latest submission to alpha Cesar. [How long before this pent up rage is uncaged? It may take a while but sometime before this show is over Whor is going to beat the bejeezus out of Cesar. No spoiler, just my gut. I don’t like either one of them but I’d love for this to happen!]
Leaving the school Amaya outlines the upcoming two weeks: the time with Nena, the need to do her homework and their moving into the new house. Vale is excited to spend time at Nena’s and that Taco and Chocolate will be with her. [Yaaay!] Amaya will pick her up mid-day tomorrow as she is uncertain if the flight will be tomorrow afternoon or the next morning. [Yes! Amaya has a childless night!]
An executive may work from sun to sun, but a devil’s work is never done! Cesar calls one of his henchmen to remove the cameras (and mics) from Whor’s office; he’ll tell him later what the new location will be.
Geno and Manny are meeting for coffee. Manny wants to continue to sputter and fume indignantly about Amaya’s new position within Nescafe. It’s all about him! What an act of disloyalty! Geno understands how he feels but that’s not what she wants to discuss.
Manny tries to put her off: this is not the moment. Oh, yes it is. We had an agreement and we are not going to change our plans because your daughter changed hers! Again, Manny complains that his head is not in the right place for anything (no tengo cabeza para nada). And when will it be? When your daughter plans to marry again? When you hire the new personnel in your agency? When?
At MM, Lu is lost in thought: Eloisa must not know that German was there. He has got to disappear from their lives before he speaks because that idiot, Elo, will believe him, not her.
Let’s pick back up on the face off between Manny and Geno. Manny doesn’t know when the right moment will be. Geno thinks that’s sad that he doesn’t know. He’s so caught up in his own problems that she and their son don’t matter a whit to him. Don’t exaggerate Manny scolds, you and my son don’t want for anything. Uh oh. Wrong thing to say. Geno is insulted. “You think that I’m with you for money and I should keep my mouth shut and be grateful! You are totally mistaken! I’ve been with you all these years in the shadows not for money, but for love!” Manny looks around and nervously tries to shush Geno. [In what I know is not a new line] Manny asks for time. Time for things to settle down. “More time? More years than I’ve already given you waiting, being the other, the secret lover, the one with no rights? Okay. You get your life in order and I hope your daughter get hers in order. Do what you need to do and when you have time to attend to me, look for me and we’ll see if I have time for you.” Emma storms away without looking back. [Yes, Manny, in case you didn’t know it, she told your ass off real good!]
Ah here is Sal, sitting alone thinking to himself how affected Connie was when Max told her he was not Amaya’s lover. He’s got to find a way to win her love and make her forget Max once and for all!
Connie is back home now and has given some thought to the surprising realization that both Max and Amaya knew she and Sal were together in Chiapas. She skypes daddy to do some damage control. She wants to get to him before the wagging tongues do. I won’t do a word for word on this but here’s basically how it went down: Connie confesses she is with Sal and they’re going to try to form a relationship. Manuel blows his top and is the perfect mix of volcanic anger and flabbergasted disbelief: He asks her if she is crazy? Whether out of vengeance or because she really feels something for him, she has done exactly what she should NOT have done! How in the world does she expect him to defend her! Going with the best friend of her ex-fiancé is the stupidest thing she has ever done in her life.
Connie tries to get in sideways that Sal values her and he knows very well that Sal loves her. Then you should have chosen him, not Max instead of dropping this WB like you did! No Max started the scandal by cheating on her with Amaya. . .what matter is she’s free! Manny wants to leave her with one thought: If she is using the love of this young man to make Max feel jealous or betrayed, then she is going down a very bad road because the only one who will lose is her. She tells him Max knows. He is in Chiapas. Manuel grabs his head with both hands and groans. He. Cannot. Believe it!! “You have gone from being the victim to becoming the victimizer! Now it’s going to be you whose reputation is trashed and neither I nor anyone else can do anything for you!”
It’s evening now, Cesar comes into Mauro’s office remarking that it’s rare that he works so late. Mauro has quite a list of things to do in preparation for the commercial. Cesar didn’t know about the commercial and can’t hide his surprise. Yes, Amaya’s commercial in Chiapas. They are going to videotape the regional festivities that initiate the harvest season for the “Despierta La Vida” corporate campaign. [The devil likes to stay a step ahead and Cesar is not pleased he didn’t know] Mauro, smiling, says it occurred to him at the last minute. Well, now that he knows he wants Cesar to handle the financial arrangements to cover the cost of the production, the salaries of Amaya and Caro, everything. Sure, sure says Cesar absently, surely thinking of how he can twist this to his advantage or to do harm to Amaya. Mauro doesn’t notice Cesar’s mood, he’s looking at some video clips of Amaya’s work and marveling at her talent.
Amaya is now at the new house. Thunder, the drumming of rain and lightening accompany Amaya’s conversation with Delores. She’s arranging the drop off time for Vale. Delores, of course, is worried about Amaya’s ever increasing closeness to the Montesinos. Delores thinks taking the job at Nescafe was a big mistake! No, it is a great offer, she’s being paid well as the head of the publicity department: she will be the creative force behind the business: It’s a great opportunity and responsibility! Delores tries to argue that Amaya doesn’t need these things, she doesn’t need to work. Amaya tells her she is wrong: especially now that she has money she needs to be productive and useful! The other reason is that she wants to shut up all the mouths of those who believed Constanza’s lies and clear her name. Well, Delores hopes she doesn’t come to regret this. [I like Delores and she is a tremendous ally of Amaya but I’m glad Amaya has strong resolve and other support!]
Cesar’s not done gathering intel. He wants to know what Max knows and where he is. Max went to El P after the WB says Mauro but he’s coming here. Oh, Max is going to be in Mexico while Amaya is in Chiapas? Mauro doesn’t know but Max will have to be in El P at the beginning of the harvest so they’ll probably run into each other at some point. Cesar doesn’t think that’s a good idea. Mauro protests that they are associates in the company and the project, so it’s appropriate they work together. This will confirm that their relationship is professional. That is part of the reason for opening the ad agency within Nescafe. Well, Cesar says, flashing his practiced and plastic smile, you’re the boss, what you say goes! Mauro tells him about his talk with the Whor. He wants Cesar to tell Whor not to have anything, anything at all to do with Amaya. Even though he’s your right hand man, if he does, he’s out of here. Understood? Cesar asks if he wants him to fire him. No, just talk to him
Over in Venice Lucio comes out to join Tia Eloisa on the sofa. Both are suffering from jet lag and can’t sleep. She offers him some of her sleepy time tea. Elo asks if Lucio knew Omar. Well, that’s it for the tea. He gives it back to her and begins to get nervous. Yes, he knew him. Elo is able to tease out that it was in the house that he saw him, he came to she his mama. Many times. To do what? Elo asks. Bad things, bad things, says Lucio and he starts to get really agitated: fidgeting even more than usual and panting. We see a foggy, muted-toned replay of little Lucio looking in the bedroom and his eyes and mouth gaping open in surprise. Young Lu runs out in her robe and tells him if he repeats what he saw he will be responsible for the disgrace of the family! Lucio begins to stutter and twist, repeating over and over he doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Lucio says it’s good he’s dead so his mama can’t break hearts anymore! He repeats this as Elo puts her arms around the flushed and panting Lucio. She thinks to herself how did they break his heart? Oh no. Lu was in love with Omar! I hope he didn’t see what I’m thinking. [BINGO Elo!]
The technician is done installing the washer and dryer and confirmed that the microwave, stove and fridge are working fine. Amaya lights candles as the electricity blinks in deference to the thunderstorm. She signs the work order and walks the workman to the door he exits and a breathless soaked Max sprints through the door!
Max?! Why didn’t you tell me? He asks. They told me you were in Chiapas? Yes, I just got here because Caro told me where I could find you. . .Why didn’t you tell me? Max’s eyes are bright. Amaya walks away. Uh, tell you what?
What do you mean what? That after you returned from Chiapas, after your accident you divorced Whoracio. He pauses to take a breath. Amaya. She turns to face him. If you had told me, everything would have been different for us. I would’ve left everything for you but thinking you were married I thought you were out of reach for me. Max looks at her with an expression of plaintive hopefulness and says, I want to be with you, my love.
Mi amor? Amaya asks, a brightness dawning in her glistening eyes.
Max smiles and closes the space between them and takes her face between his hands: Yes, yes because that is what you are for me, my love. Right now the only thing I’m interested in knowing is if you love me. Yes, yes I love you with. . .
Max silences her declaration of love with a hungry and passionate kiss which Amaya returns with equal ardor. They barely allow their lips to part as they peel off their jackets and we see matching vibrant red shirts. Cradling Amaya’s head in his beautiful arm they kiss deeply, insistently, synchronizing their bodies in this initial dance of declaration and surrender. They sway passionately as Amaya fairly rips off Max’s shirt revealing his perfectly defined, bulging biceps and muscled torso. Amaya now tenderly holds his head, his hair tumbling forward and his hands busy out of camera range removing all barriers between them. *Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!*
Sal returns home to fine Connie crying. He has flowers. She accepts them half-heartedly. He asks what the matter is now. She talked to Manuel about them. He was super pissed. They process it. He asks her to marry him.
Max and Amaya lie together on her bed in the candle-lit bedroom. He lies on his back, she above him, amidst the tumble of cream colored bed sheets. She kisses his lips, nose and eye tenderly. Both exude a golden glow as they declare how happy they make each other. Amaya tells him she has had to suppress the love she felt for him for so long she doesn’t know how she’s going to keep it from being noticed now. Why does she want her love to go unnoticed? He wants to shout it to the four corners of the earth that he loves her! She would love to but she doesn’t want Vale to know right now. Max says no, please don’t, he and Vale are fond of each other! Yes, she cares for you as her coach, her mom’s business partner but imagine if she knew you are the man I love especially in the light of Connie’s lies. No, she would not react well. So what are we going to do, be secret lovers? No. Amaya asks for time. Time to break it to her slowly and to tell others that. . She gives him a playful double rise of the eyebrows. . .that they love each other!
Okay, Max will give her a little time but as soon as Vale accepts him, they are going to marry! Amaya seems surprised. Marry? Yeah, don’t you want to? Yes, it’s what I want most in the world, to marry your, take care of you, love you, make a family together. The camera angle has shifted. Several pillars flicker in the foreground. He responds, he wants to spend the rest of his life with her and make love to her every day so she knows how much he loves her. They seal the pact with a kiss.
How’s our other proposal of marriage going? Connie responds that marrying in these circumstances is crazy and will seem like an impulse. Sal has no doubts. Connie wants to be sure of her feelings. He asks if she was sure of her feelings when she accepted to marry Max. She sighs in frustration.
We are back in the bedroom bathed in the soft glow of candlelight. Max’s beautifully sculpted right leg is bared to the thigh, Amaya and the covers drape over him, her head resting on his left shoulder. The pillow talk continues. She tells him meeting him has changed her life. His too, and for her he is willing to do anything. Amaya muses: They say that love is a setback, a ship that takes you away from the path you were on, to one that you were not expecting. A feeling that moves your very life and makes you feel that you really exist and that you are fully alive. Max says if that is true then I feel more alive than ever by your side. They laugh. Amaya continues that Max saved her life and now she lives for him. It seems their meeting each other was predestined. Considering their parents’ past, perhaps they were destined to live the love that their parents could not. Max agrees and asserts that they promise that no one, absolutely no one will separate them as happened to her mother and his father. Their destiny is going to be quite different.
Connie and Sal are still trying to work it out. She is begging for time. She can’t marry right now. She is still too hurt by what has happened. She doesn’t want to marry to avoid gossip or because her father is mad, it wouldn’t work. Al will give her time but the invitation stands.
Max gets a call. They are going to leave in fifteen minutes. Where? To live our love. We see muscles flex in that wonderful back and arms as raises to embrace Amaya and they begin another round of deep, soulful kissing.
We are interrupted the devil with the red jammies on, pining silently over Omar’s rejection. Even though he caused her problems with Lucio, she was all his and nobody else’s.
Max has whisked Amaya away to a romantic, roof top oasis in the middle of the D.F. There is a grand piano and a table draped in white linen and service for two. You were sure of my love, weren’t you? Well, not totally sure, he thought she would reject him with all that had happened but it was worth the risk. He asks her to sit down and tells her that his papa told him that when he was courting her mother her favorite music was that of Armando Manzanero. They both love his music and his romanticism. Max gives a drum roll and such an absolutely gorgeous broad smile that I think CdlF is himself beaming in this scene. In honor of their parents’ love he presents the Maestro himself, Armando Manzanero! She greets him warmly with a hug and kiss, and he takes to the piano and plays their, and our theme song.
As he plays Max and Amaya embrace, kiss, dance. Max sings along engulfing Amaya in those lovely, brawny arms of his. We enjoy a montage of them drinking campaign, him feeding her berries, warm embraces, loving gazes and more and more kisses. This lovely tableau crystallizes. Fin. For now.
de una forma diferente
de otro modo
nunca igual al de otra gente
Respetando tus espacios
Ok, back to reading.
Right now I want to watch the Max and Amaya show again.
Anita, you're cracking me up with your little observations! Thanks, girl!
Manny was sooo pissed, I thought he was going to blow a gasket. Go back and look at it, it's kind of funny! He was so outdone at the position she has put him in. Not 24 hours ago he was aggressively severing his life long friendship/brotherhood with Mauro to defend her honor and now he's calling her crazy and stupid!
Okay, I'm at your 2:52 comment. Thank you Anita! I did so love recapping their first time making love! I'm a sucker for these scenes if they're well-played and feel authentic and this one certainly did!
Also would like the translation of that little quote above from any or all of you could weigh in Anita, Vivi, Floridia and Sara!
Thanks!

contratiempo can also be translated as an "accident" or "mishap". So that might be the better nuance for the quote, but everything else was great to me.
(I'm a wordreference gal myself.)
Anita
Lila,
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!
I've been gone all day - first to my Spanish book club and to lunch which was terrific. My companions in this group are Hispanic who do NOT watch TN's. They are more literary, and I try to come up with something meaningful to say in Spanish for a minute or two. Not too much pressure because all others want to express their opinions on the book of the month.
Re the song lyrics, I thought they were the same as mine, but there is one important change. Since José José became my singing idol almost three years ago (never ever heard of him before that time) I have been going to MUSICA.COM.. where I print out each song as I learn of its existence. I now have more than 100 of his songs organized alphabetically. I know, as one of my son's remarked, "That's obsessive!" But what a magnificent obsession it is for me.
I have found the sight to be very accurate. In general, the words follow the song and CD exactly.
Accordingly then, my version says
DESNUDAR mis ansiedades con pasión.
In other words: undress,unsheathe.
or strip. This translation makes much more sense; I think you will agree.
Lila, your coverage of the entire episode did it justice, and the love scene was lovely. I wished they had danced a little bit more, and I thought perhaps it might have been cut. Loved the way Max swung Amaya gently around to initiate the dancing.
And speaking of the word initiate, I especially like the "initial dance of declaration and surrender."
Our conservative, reserved Amaya certainly got down to business without any qualms whatsoever.
Now, I believe that their family ESTA FORMANDO as we speak. I hope that cautious Constanza wants to experiment a little with SAD SACK Sal just to make sure that they will be compatible.
Now that Max (El MAXIMO) has come right out and proposed marriage, we know that it will not occur for a long time. We will need to replay this scene often, and writers and directors will most likely do the same.
I really enjoyed seeing Mauro
state unequivocally how Horacio
must conduct himself - OR ELSE.
Thanks to everyone for the comments.
All the best
Max and Sal spot each other.
Sal: What are you doing here? If it’s for Constanza, I want you to be avised (te quiero advertir)….
Max: You don’t have to advise me (of anything). I know Constanza is here for you and you two are together. After betraying me, you dirtied Amaya’s name, who is innocent.
Con butts in: No, no, Amaya is not innocent. You (Max) were the betrayer.
Max: No, I never betrayed anyone. I always told you the truth. OTOH, I, NEVER, knew how YOU felt about Sal, which was so big that now you two are together. BTW, let me tell you, everything Sal told you that happened between me and Amaya are lies.
Con: Oh, please, they are not lies. You, you, yourself told me you had feelings for Amaya.
Max: Yes, I did tell you I had feelings for her.
Con: Sal investigated and found out you and Amaya spent the night together and who knows how many days here in Chiapas…
Max holding up one finger: We spent ONE night together, but nothing happened between us. Your head is so full of lies it is not worth trying to clear it up. I realize now it was better we didn’t get married. Our love was not what we thought it was or you wouldn’t have looked at Salvador and I wouldn’t have looked at Amaya.
Con: You skirted around the issue.
Max: No I didn’t skirt around it. You made that decision. So own it. My conscience is clear on that score. The only thing that hurts me in all this is Amaya’s name was dirtied, because it is an injustice.
Sal: Injustice? Injustice is what you (Max) were going to do to Constanza, to lead a double life with her.
Max: I would never do that—NEVER. In addition, I don’t owe you (Sal) anything, or you (Consta). My conscience is at peace and the only thing I’m going to dedicate myself to is to be happy and for the whole world to respect Amaya.
With that he walks off leaving Amaya stunned and Sal still worked up.
We've all forgotten Cesar wants to ruin Max's coffee plants. He originally asked Whoracio to find a way that was untraceable. If I recall right, Whoracio asked Cipriano and he came up with some plague and Cesar was annoyed because everyone knew about that and get information on something better. Does anyone recall if he did?
"Entregarme y saciarme
disfrutar mis ansiedades con passion"
Disfrutar is to enjoy--he's enjoying his anxieties? Uh-uh, desnudar--uncovering, undressing, shedding i.e. getting rid of; take your choice.
Thank you for preserving my anonymity, not that it would be a huge deal; my name is fairly common (especially in the Boston area.) Still, I prefer not to use it, and I appreciate your taking the extra time to fix my error.
Thanks also for the word-for-word airport conversation. Have a lovely time with your son in New England.
Yes! The caption also said "desnudar."
The love scene was special. And to speak of cutting, I had to see if there was more to the love scene. There was. Nothing that one cannot imagine but there were several minutes of passion in the bed. While enjoyable, I don't think the absence of this segment ruined the reunion and consummation.
Yes, Amaya did get down to business. She was, as the Martha Reeves and the Vandellas sang, "I'm ready for love."
I also liked Mauro being so direct and clear. Neither Whor, nor his own son, knows the roots of the deep paternal love he feels for Amaya. Mauro is SERIOUS!
Also loved Geno laying down the law to Manny, the self-righteous, hypocritical blowhard!
**********
Thanks for the reminder about "the stuff"! Not sure of the status of this.
I don't think the cheerleading thing mattered so much as knowing that Amaya was going to be child-free for the night of lovemaking. Wheeee! :) Where do Max and Amaya go from here? We know Val won't be their only obstacle to having a relationship out in the open.
Loved Mauro putting Whor in his place, and Manuel finding out his little princess isn't so perfect.
This young actor has always been thin and I wonder if at some point he will try to bulk up. He's managed to transition from playing good guy teen, to playing evil bearded bean pole pretty well.
Ok, calm down Lila. We shall see!
:D
Uni just posted their Christmas Week schedule. Apparently there will be NO Amarte on either December 24 (for two hours of Rosa de Guadalupe) nor December 25.
Sara--you seem to be off the hook for the 24th. Is there any possibility you can take one (or two) nights for New Year's Week?
I'll repost this on Week 14 Page, but right now we have:
Mon 22 - Cap 65 - Anita
Tue 23 - Cap 66 - Lila
Fri 26 - Cap 67 - Vivi
Or were you just mentioning shows that will begin filming next?
I'm still on for recapping Friday.
P.S. I'm in for tomorrow's recap. Lila, why don't you take a break, if Sara is willing to do Tuesday.
Does the following sound fair for Week 15 (Dec 28-Jan 1)? (There may be pre-emptions on Jan 1, so I'll keep an eye on it from Boston.)
Sara, if you can do two days that week, Vivi take two (one being Fri Jan 1, which will probably be pre-empted) and Lila one day, then we have it covered.
Week 16 is too far away to think about right now, but I worry anyway. I'll probably be able to do ONE DAY, early in the week (maybe Monday or Tuesday), since I'll be traveling home either the 7th or the 8th. That won't give me enough time to catch up.
So with my offer for New Year's week what do we have? Sara, do you want Tuesday, 12-23?
My DVR is still saying there will be episodes Christmas eve and Christmas, but I've learned my cable company is always the last to know!
Lila--Here is the link to the Spanish slang website. I've never gotten any spam or worms from it.
Warning: it is a creation of anybody that wants to post and the language gets pretty, not just pretty raunchy, it's downright disgustingly crude.
