Mi Corazon #138: It's In The Bag...Or Maybe Not
Cap. #138
It’s the Epiphany or Three Kings’ Day in Mexico—the traditional day when Mexican kids receive their Christmas presents. While the twins mischievously put a fish on their big brother’s pillow, the police chase down Ana’s Three Wise Men thinking they’re hot on the trail of bank robbers who are using the same theme for their disguise [disfrazado].
When the cops catch up to them in the SUV, Don Fernando tries to explain that they’re on their way to the hospital’s Children’s Ward, but the police don’t believe them because the supposed bag of toys in the trunk turns out to have the Lola costume in it, complete with Ana's bra that the police hold up to them as proof they're lying.
Luckily, Ana calls Johnny about the missing trash bag of clothes from El Chicago. Johnny has enough sense to pretend it’s Jens calling about her missing bag of things. Johnny signals that he’ll fix the mix up for her and hangs up. Bruno asks DF why there’s a third bag when he only had two bags of toys. Ferd says it was his doing and found it in Ana’s room. A light bulb goes off in DF’s head. “—Why would Ana have this kind of clothing in her room? Where do I know that name ‘Lola’ from???” (Duhn-duhn-duhnnnnn!) He remembers the glasses and the night he spent at El Chicago. Johnny quickly explains it’s from some of the dancers there and how he asked Ana to keep the bag there for him. Somehow or other it’s now needed for the new pole dancer work shop he and Jens are opening up. Ana is a great seamstress and was going to help rework the costume somehow. DF accepts the excuse.
The police check and realize they’ve got Fernando Lascurain, the impresario, and not a gang of robbers stopped. Ferd thanks them for jailing him with Ana last time because it led to the two of them getting back together again. Ana calls Johnny back and he gives her the good news that his excuses worked on Don Ferd. All’s right with the world again…..But, the scare has been too much for Ana and she tells her mom that she’s got to end this business of having to lie to Fernando once and for all!
Back in the kitchen at los Lascurain, Nando and Fanny are thrilled to hear that their dad is helping Bruno out as one of the magi.
There’s a scene where the kids receive their gifts at the hospital.
During their late breakfast, Ana asks Nando what’s what in his love life now that Ximena is back. He admits he doesn’t know. Ana makes a plea for compatibility and logically guides him away from Hi-low Xi and reminds him that the girl isn’t exactly brain surgeon material, whereas Edith is another Einstein like him. Nando doesn’t want to hurt either one and remains “confundido”.
Across the tracks, so to speak, Leon shows Laura his new digs—it’s in the ghetto, American Style complete with bars on the window in an ugly brick high rise. She says ugh as he shows her around.
Ferd sneaks back into the manse and rushes Ana into his office to tell her about the police and the bag. He wonders if Johnny’s really a transvestite or what. Ana, in the know, explains it was a costume from El Chicago she was fixing for one of the dancers. He tells her how he thanked them for their night together in the jail cell. They kiss over the romantic memory.
That night Ana brings Nando the missing box with his shoe lifts. I think she talks him out of using them and making everyone wonder how he grew a couple of inches overnight. He tries them out agrees there’s something more to life than outward appearances.
Across the way in her high rise, Isabella screams at Yolanda and blames her for the failed attempt to seduce Johnny.
Johnny shows Jens pictures from the 3 Magi and kisses her after telling her that she’s the best thing in his life. Isa-bellow keeps trying to reach him on his cell, but he turns it off and continues making out with Jens. (Good on you, Juannie baby!)
Later that day Ana takes Alicia to see Dr. Angel. Ali notes Dr. A’s romantic interest in Ana and tells her as they enter his office.
Xi returns to the house for a visit. All hell breaks lose when Edith shows up to find Xi in the living room waiting on Nando, both with Xmas gifts for him. The two chitty-chat about nothing and then Edith comes to the point. “—Are you here to get back with Nando?” Upstairs, Nando finds out he’s in a hell of a fix with both girlfriends waiting together for him downstairs and that, unfortunately, Ana is not there to help him scheme his way out of this.
At the same time, Fanny comes to her dad’s business for a chat. She exchanges some wonderful trash talk with Isabruja (dressed, Viewerville notes, to kill in a lace midriff leather two piece suit) while she waits for Beti to show her in to his office. (Viewerville’s favorite part of the Capítulo, if not of the whole telenovela so far).
“—I see you’ve come to take your father away from his important work?”
“—As long as it keeps him from having to spend any time with a tarantula like you here! My dad always has time for me.”
“—Ah, so the financial and production plans for fiscal 2015 can just wait, right?”
“--It’s much more important that he spends the time with me instead of with The Vice-Bitch/Battle-Axe/Hag! [Viewerville can take its pick in this case.]” “—You silly spoiled brat!”
“—Extremely spoiled! But then, what are you, huh but an opportunist who got herself knocked up for the money???”
“—I got pregnant out of love!”
“—Right! But the proof that you tied down my dad to get money out of him is that you don’t even show up for my little baby brother!!”
“—What would you know? I am a busy professional woman with no time to take care of my child.”
“—That’s got nothing to do with it, Isabela. How many times have you even seen him? Twice?”
“—I don’t owe you an explanation for anything, you rude, ill-mannered child!”
Just then, Daddy walks in on the row and breaks it up. (Bummer and a half!) “—What’s going on here?” “--Oh, The Witch is just in a bad mood [de málas] and you know how she gets. We don’t have to invite her. Let’s go on. ” “—¡You damned Electra!” “—Beti, tell me when Sr. Agamemnon can see me!” “--Er…what?” “--Don’t be ignorant!” (Clearly Beti is out of the loop on that one!)
Back at the manse, Bruno and Manuela beg Nando to take care of his two women downstairs or there’ll be Hell to pay. Meanwhile, Edith learns from Xi that she really didn’t know he’d dropped her for Edith because he never told her. Nando had been the ultimate coward. Xi politely excuses herself and leaves just as he gets downstairs. Edith confronts him with the Big Question: “Why didn’t you tell Ximena we were dating?”
At Angel’s, Ali tells Dra. Magda why she feels what she feels and is told it’s all part of growing up. FF>>
Nando explains to Edith that he didn’t tell Xi cuz he didn’t want to hurt her, and in the end “It wasn’t really relevant, you know?” “—Well, she’s back and she’s relevant now. Don’t you think?” How can he be so robotic about this since it isn’t some equation, she asks him. He tells her tearfully that he knows and that he can’t say more because he doesn’t have the answer this time. Better said, he needs to find out how he feels about this. Well, when you sort things out let me know, says Edith. And in the meantime you and I are quits!
In the kitchen meanwhile, Bruno texts Beti with the news that making love to her has cured him of his stuttering. He’s er…up…for more therapy/sexual healing. They make a date for another “therapy session.”
Back at the clinic, Ana visits with Angel while Ali is in therapy. She remembers Ali’s mentioning how Dr. A has a crush on her. She asks if he and Magda have gotten back together again. Not that easy to trust her, but they’ve talked, he tells her. Ana offers her advice to the lovelorn: it’s not so much a matter of trust but of forgiveness. Love is important also, wouldn’t you agree? Yes, so isn’t there any love here?
He gets on his knees then to her and admits he’s actually fallen in love with her instead. “--WHAT????” Angel kisses her hand and tells her in all seriousness that he has been in love with her since the first time she entered his office. (Cancelo, cancelo, cancelo!)
Labels: mcet
Ana suspected Angel was in to her as she questioned him, batting her eyes and primping, so no wonder he gets down on one knee to profess his love and adoration. She didn't look aghast to me, in fact she was flattered. I'm kinda stunned but then again not. We've seen this with Fanny already.
I just don't know if Fernando will ever be able to get the fool tattoo off his forehead once he finds out the ride he's been taken on.
I don't like the emotional wreck version of Edith but at least Nando told her the truth.
Did catch the guys in the hospital. That was sweet and very touching. Bright spot of the night.
So, if I recall right, Nando had said Ximena broke up with him via email a while back. And that was a lie? Or are the writers doing a retcon on us to create a triangle. How about all three just take a hiatus and get their individual lives in order.
Have to say, someone showed up in an outfit like Isa's at our office, I think there would be a little talking to by the office leader. And she really said she's too busy as a professional woman to take care of a child? Wow, that statement alone deserves it's own separate anvil. I'm sure every woman in viewerville was ready to throw something through the TV at that. Good for Fanny.
Speaking of whom...she never saw that place Leon was so excited he got for his future wife and child did she? THIS WAS IT? Seriously? Maybe if he wasn't in such a hurry he could have afforded something more homey?
Don't like the new credits.
I read the comment late from yesterday that Osorio is planning multiple endings and letting viewerville vote. Coward. IN other words, he is clueless, will be having us going all over the place for remaining episodes via his writers, and then for those left hanging on, we get to see what Mexico voted for. I'm hating this new trend. It may have worked for Teresa, but I don't see it working here.
I also think that having the children act more adult in their relationships and Fer/Ana and all the other adults act like overgrown children was done purposefully to be the comedic side of this TN. I'm curious if this is ok by Mexican humor and we seem jaded since we aren't as use to this. Silvia and Jorge had to know, I would hope, ahead of time that this was the approach and were ok with it? Otherwise...yikes.

Will comment more later, but I do not, absolutely do not like the new opening credits nor do I feel that Banda music (which is fine by me) really suits this story.
The music alone signifies a huge change.
Can someone tell me why the other group was canned after all this time?!

Tofie: " Nando had said Ximena broke up with him via email a while back". I was under the same impression. He either told a lie cuz he's a real coward. or the writers screwed up their storyline, or he hasn't had a chance to get to the real reason he never told Xi or Edi the truth. Another cowardly male for us to deal with.
to feed.
I'm still just so confused about the whole Sebastian dance/song routine from last night. It made no sense whatsoever.
We are at about ~140 episodes, and they finally decided it's time for IkkyLizard to raise his ugly head
And, of course, by typical telenovela convention we can deduce that the kidnapping of a baby will occur soon because that is what happens 8/10 times on a novela, with just enough time for the hero to rush in and save the day. Of course he has to have enough time to fix things with his main squeeze and voila it's time for the five minute wedding.
Oh, I forgot, Osorio says this novela won't end with a wedding.
It's totally unbelievable that Angel is in love with Ana. They've hardly spent any time together and he has to know that she is madly in love with Fernando. This is idiotic.
It's also ridiculous that Laura the gold digger would want to have a relationship with Leon. Another story line that makes no sense.
As far as the multiple endings is concerned, that shouldn't be too surprising with the crazy turns this show has taken.
All these pointless plots with characters that come and go, it's like Osorio is giving favors to people or "Christmas presents" to them in the way of characters in his TN. Hey real parents of the Sarai actress, Thank you for the trip to your Villa in Spain you gave me for a christmas present. I'll put your daughter in my TN as my Christmas gift to you in return. Or, I owe this new singing group a favor, so I'm replacing the old group with you.
The new credits focus on kisses between Ana and Fernando, Fanny and Leon and Jenny and Johnny. It may be that this is meant to signal which way it is all going to go in the end. I hope not in the cases of Fanny and Leon and Jenny and Johnny but I wonder if the die is cast for these couple.
I don't necessarilyt trust what is said by Osorio about his plans. Supposedly he and PM had a rift and he fired PM, who denied it and is, I read, coming back for the finale. I think Osorio is a powerful figure within Televisa and a lot of gossip surrounds him, some of which he probably encourages to keep viewers' interest. So, anything can happen (multiple endings, a single ending, new characters introduced at the last minute) and apparently will happen as we have been adrift for quite a while now.
The previews show Ana getting ready to reveal something as Fernando involves the children in the proposal. Will it happen then? So far, nothing except some teases that Ana has been able to get out of.
I wonder how these extensions affect the actors. Do they sign on for anywhere from say 130 to 200 episodes? Or do they risk being simply written out of the story if they can't hand around for an extension? I wonder how it affects their salaries. Surely the more popular actors must have other obligations cooking.
I don't think that SN is at her best in this novela perhaps because of the direction she has received. She has done comedy successfully in the movies. JS manages to survive just about whatever they throw at him. But the role agrees with a kind of natural restraint he has as an actor.
About Ana's behavior: in the beginning she was less childish; she was colorful and big mouthed, showing clear signs of a lack of education (even if she was supposedly raised by nuns), but she was still mostly a dramatic heroine. Now she's just become a caricature of her old self. After watching last night's show and that ugly crying when Fer was telling her nice things, I'm sure that SN is only following directions, she is much better than this. That would have been the perfect moment for Ana to confess the whole truth. Seeing her in distress might have softened the blow for Fernando, but now I'm almost certain he will find out from someone else and it won't be pretty.
From the interviews that SN gave when she was first cast, it looked like she was very happy with the part, but this is one of the risks that actors take when they play a character in a popular telenovela. The thing gets dragged on, they get dumped down and everybody ends up losing (well, the producers be winning money but they are definitely losing viewers respect).
A couple of different on-line sources say that the finale in Mexico is March1. I thought there had been an extension a couple of months ago but can't swear to it. It is, according to what I read, a planned extravaganza, with musical groups, famous actors - UGH. Lots of stories out there about what the plans are, I guess.

The Fanny/isa segment was pure entertainment, loved it!
Another thing I didn't know was that sarai is, in real life, the daughter of the actress who plays Beatriz. I like how they do things like that when they put real family members together in TN's.
And yes, I caught that Ana smiled when Angel said he loved her from the moment he saw her. This can't be good.
I"m wondering if that original sequence was becoming so horribly wrong, they kept having to re-piece it, they just pieced together the main three couples. Agree, trying to remind people this is supposed to be about the adults. Hey, Osorio, we were tuning in for that, you were the one who went down the grade school romance path.
I just can't wrap my head around Leon and Fanny right now. I don't like Jen and Johny, but the way Johny is shown to be "all that", I don't think we have a chance for that to change. But for Leon, at the start of this TN, I always felt Leon was meant to be a Fer in the making, but then his character took a turn, got way more pouty, his temper outweight Fer's to me, and how he handled the whole "Fanny, I'm planning out your life for you" proposal made me cringe. To me, he needs a real character recharge before I can root for him and Fanny. AND NO MARRIAGE YET!
I don't trust Osorio with the wedding finale....sure it won't be the finale, but maybe in the ultimates? Otherwise, why have we been taking this Ana/Fer trip? He wouldn't go there with some real dark drama would he to turn the story on it's rails...oh yeah, yes he would. Child kidnapping, people dying, yeah he would do that in a comedy, he's done it. Maybe I better lay in some extra wine weeky.

I, too, was confused by all the characters (Leon, Laura, etc) in Sebas' dance sequence, but when it ended he was sitting on the couch by himself. I think that sequence was supposed to his fantasy.
Anon 10:20 said the kids in this TN act like grownups and the lead actress Ana acts like a kid. I agree she is too old to be constantly playing those cutesie-poo scenes.
I was glad to see Edith, one of my faves, pushing back against Nando's wishy-washy attitude. You go, girl! That's the Edith that Nando was attracted to in the first place. She deserves better.
J in Oregon
I will accept almost anything in a TN, but a change in music during the opening credits would infuriate me. Heck, I'm still trying to get over the fact that the opening credits air 15 minutes in!
Please accept my apologies! How frustrating for you all!
RE: change in them song--we are all trying to figure that out too. I remember when they changed the opening music on Dama Y Obrero--a Roberto Tapia number--to something else. I didn't even the the Tapia song but it still bugged me for weeks afterwards.
J in Oregon
I agree about the weird turn of events with the change of the opening and ending theme songs. First we get ranchero music (nothing wrong with a good ranchero song--but I so dislike this one) and then at the end we get Sebastian and his feble try at pop music.
Has anyone noticed whether the scenes with Fanny and Leon are new scenes that haven't happened yet? Or are they flashbacks?
Remember how Osorio tricked us before with the scene of Ana walking in on Diego and Natalie kissing in the library and that never came to pass. Another side turn on Osorio's part. Musical Chairs, 1, 2, 3 4 .....
Daisynjay
All in all, I am still enjoying this one but I do not like the new opening with the new song.
After doing a little research yesterday, it seems that there will be 176 episodes total.
I am not having any problems believing Ana a pole dancer and Fernando a rich executive could get together and have a successful relationship/marriage. I have seen stranger happen in my life.
Also, I have no problem with the lovey dovey talk between Ana and Fernando. Unfortunately, I have witnessed this from all ages of couples in public in real life when it is best saved for behind closed doors.
This is my first time seeing Silvia Navarro and I think she is great in this production. She is one funny actress. I would love to see her in another comedic role.
The only thing bothering me is Ana's refusal to come clean with Fernando but that is part of the inevitable crisis in the plot.
Last night's episode:
Best question:
When Edith asks Nando why he did not tell Ximena he had a girlfriend. I agree with whoever called Nando a coward. He is a big boy now and needs to be honest no matter how much it hurts him which is what Edith forced him to do. Good for Edith.
I loved the "three kings".
Jarifa
Thanks for figuring out the length of the novela. I continue to wonder if that was the original length or some additions and extensions were made. Either way, it looks like the end is in sight in Mexico and Urban said that we are about four and one-half weeks behind. That would mean that we should have a little more than two months to go. We should start to see the Ultimas Semanas sign soon, no?
My complaints have to do with the kids being put in adult circumstances and the length of time it is taking to get to the resolution of the main plot line. I enjoy the children a lot and like both Ana's relationships with them and Fernando's. I just want to get to the crisis that is looming and let the secondary plot lines grow more out of how that is resolved. Here's hoping that we are nearing the truth telling..
If this will be 176 episodes total we now have 38 left or 8 weeks. There are too many threads to unravel and stitch into place and if Osorio decides to break up Ana and Fernando permanently I will never watch any of his series again.
Loved seeing Fanny tell Isa-bellow off. She's never been afraid to confront this bitch on steroids and now she finally gave it to her with both barrels. I'd also rather not see Fanny and Leon marry yet although the new opening credits seem to imply they will be together at the end. I agree with everyone who doesn't like those credits or the banda music; it's really not appropriate for this story. But I've also not liked modern pop music in novelas de epoca and not enough people complained about that to make any difference.
More later; I have stuff to do in the kitchen.
As of now, it seems like this is going to be followed by another lighter offering: "Somos los Carmona" a Mexican remake of a Chilean novela. Another dramedy, yay!
Jarifa
Closing Chicago is probably a long shot. No matter what Johnny and Edna know about Dorofeo they still need concrete proof. They all know that he owns the building that houses Bruja Central, but they still don't know about Yomama's pursuit of Dorofeo (who is laughing his behind off at this).
As for Ana being a coward I disagree. She knows that working at Chicago wasn't the best decision she ever made in her life. She also knows how other people will regard her if they knew. Diego is a free spirit who doesn't care about what other people think, but he also isn't a homebody. Angel and Fernando are in a different category altogether. Fernando is the sort of man Ana needs. Would she have gone for him if he had a fraction of the money and a lunes-a-viernes job and being a month's pay away from poverty? I think so. She's not afraid of hard work and will never be lazy no matter what.
What's really at stake here is not her financial future, but her emotional future. If it were all about dinero, she could pull up stakes and go somewhere else.
They all must be suffering from buyers remorse.

Jarifa: thanks for the update on caps.

Hannah: ITA regarding teenaged bedhopping, bt this tn also has encouraged it from early on with the "they're going to do it anyway" mentality and messaging.
Which brings me to another thought about Johnny.
Mexican galans are almost always "matinee idol" types with alpha male faces and bodies to match. In Columbia average- and even dorky-looking guys can be leads. I hope that Osorio doesn't catch that particular disease.
And if they want to remake a Columbian comedy novela, I think somebody should take a crack at El Inutil. That was on the network formerly known as Telefutura. Never saw the ending because they kept changing the time slot but the premise of the story is good and very timely.
I think Televisa could take a page from the Colombians and Chileans and give us more life-like actors. I'm growing a little weary of all the Barbies and Ken dolls
Really appreciate everyone's comments this evening. The story seems to have lost so much focus.
I'll see it through to the end, but this guy Osorio has to be related to Mejia.
Fatima
I don't think Nando is a coward, I just think he's a child. There's no way anyone could expect a kid to be able to make sensible and adult decisions. If I was a friend of Edith I would tell her, "What did you expect Nando to do, he's 17!" If he was older and more mature he would understand what he had to do, and he wouldn't be so "confused." Even though I think that she did the right thing when she confronted Ximena and then Nando, that doesn't condone her earlier childish behavior. You have a Bipolar woman, and an emotionally scarred woman fighting over a 17 year old, a recipe for a disaster.
I start watching the episode waiting for the usual sing songy tune and end up with something that sounds that the people who sung it forgot to take their antidepressants! First of all I have nothing against banda music, so I am not insulting any one here that loves this type of music. Everyone has their preferences. Mine are quite simple: I can’t stand this type of music. As I heard the opening theme I slowly went from Salvador to Hyde and in the end did a Regan 360 then rushed to the bathroom to brush my teeth.
And now, I also noticed, that they started to play elevator music during the novella, perhaps replacing the Alex/Kaay tune. Not that I thought that the original number was award worthy, but at least it was whimsical, upbeat and rhythmic. Yhe new theme sounds to me like someone is dragging a goat with a Ford F150 going at 10MPH.
Dang! Missed the last minute or so where Dr A got down on his knee, but will probably catch it on Monday if I don’t lose consciousness after the opening theme. But What Is He Thinking!!?? Dr. A already knows how tight Fer and Ana are. Is he just suicidal? Masochistic? Some one please shoot the writers!
Leon taking Laura to his new house: Another What Is He Thinking moment. No wait, of course it makes sense! It’s the writers!
Nando telling Edith that Xi broke up with him via email. Yeah, I remember that. I don’t see him coming off as a coward, but given the writers’ track record anything is possible, no matter how ridiculous.
.
“..the hero to rush in and save the day..” What hero? Everyone is acting zany. Is there a new character that will be introduced that will save the day? Right now the most probably hero material is Lenin :-S
“unlike La Gata which is an abomination” – just wow. So using a scale where Corazon Indomable is a 5 as far as abominations go, where would La Gata fall? I’ve seen some of the promos and it seems that instead of creating interest they create repulsion. I liked Rosa Salvaje and looked forward to the Gata, but after seeing a week’s worth I just couldn’t take it. The only saving grace of this novella is the actress that play’s the galan’s mom who was the same actress that played the same part in Rosa Salvaje. Another wow.
“…had to stop what I was doing and stare open-mouthed at the TV…”
I hear you Sara! And if you were to watch the novella you would be staring open-mouthed more often .
“When Edith asks Nando why he did not tell Ximena he had a girlfriend.” He did tell her. When Xi first came over to the house and he talked to her, in front of Fannie, he told her that Edith, his girlfriend, was in the house. Could not have been clearer and Xi clearly understood this.
“That would mean that we should have a little more than two months to go.” I mentioned in another post that a new novella is starting early March in this novella’s slot, so calculating the difference between MX and US means that this novella will end here sometime in April. Given the new theme, I may not make it that far.
“…her ill conceived belief, closing Chicago, the best way out, eliminating the need to ever tell bothers me more.” I totally agree. Talking about cowards.
UA: If I mention the above it is because the solution is telling Fer the truth. Yes, she might lose him, but if she is to begin a relationship with Fer *as in marriage) it must be based on a foundation of truth. If not then it is destined to fail. At this time everything has been said and done. It is inconceivable that Fer will toss her if she tells him the truth, but very probable if he finds out much later from a different source.
I loved your comments just posted. I too am extremely unnerved by what Osorio is doing to this novela. He has taken what started out to be a cute, funny romantic comedy and has turned it into a farce of a plot/story with tentacles going in every which direction, with no map, or idea where to land.
The characters can't seem to make up their mind and the audience is lost trying to remember the back storyline.
What Osorio is doing to this novela and the actors involved is unacceptable. He has used this novela as a show piece for his son, family, and friends. He whimsically changes the direction of the storyline to permit his schizophrenic production a chance to throw in a new character here and there and then reel them back out when he can't come up with a coherent mixing of the characters (i.e., Sarai).
If I didn't like JS and SN so much and didn't have so much time invested already, I'd stop watching. Therefore, I'm just contributing to Osorio's madness by not allowing the ratings the show the true disappointment of the audience.
From what I have been able to read online from the Latin audience, those of us from Caray, Caray aren't alone in our disapproval of where the story of this novela has skidded off the tracks.
Lastly, changing out the opening theme song and background music is just another sign of Osorio's schizophrenic production talents.
This will be the first and the last Osorio novela I watch.
Banda music, really !!!! Wrong place, wrong time.
Tofie, I second the motion regarding watching La Gata merely to read the recaps and and blogs.
Jarifa, I watch MCET because of Silvia Navarro. The Sat children show is boring me to death how I wish they'd do more drama than too much of the children. Is it because I came from a big family too? No but really Jarifa, If this is the first you've seen Silvia, watch her in Amor Bravio. My first time to see her and I love her ever since.
Oh. and I don't like the new opening credit and song either. Thanks everyone. Anne
Welcome Anne! If you can find it, Mañana Es Para Siempre with SN and FC was my first time to see her in action. She won me over in that tn.
===========
I am shell-shocked thinking this thing will last until April.
"by the time this TN is over, we could have a new theme ... and Osorio's son could be singing it." ITA!! LOL!
ok, so i won't be too long, I will just list what has been commented by many and I agree with.
The new credits theme has NOTHING to do with the novela... and skipping over all the kids except for Fanny leads me to believe that Osorio does not plan to have Nando end up with anyone, double that for Alicia... we probably will not even see Pablo again.
part 2 coming...
Jarifa
Osorio must have changed the show's direction based on audience reactions... he might have planned a family dramedy focusing on the comedy, but then changed directions (like the young kids romantic relationships that are not appropriate for the age) that he had to change the 'vibe' of the novela to be a strict romance drama. thus the change of credits from 'family/comedy' to 'couples drama'.
Silvia has been much more compromised in the change of her character than JS. Fernando has changed due to his growing feelings for Ana and how she cares for his kids and her advice... so the predicted reaction (I agree with Salvador that Ana NEEDS to tell him herself or brace for all he__ breaks loose brought it on to herself by keeping quiet too long) goes along with his character, which is still the decent man who expects the same level of honesty and transparency in his 'pareja' as he provides.
IF Ana does what Salvador suggests and brings him the truth by first telling him her background and her getting to know and love him as her reasons for having not told him before, the blow will be much more manageable when she finally spills that she is 'Lola'. If she waits until he finds out from someone else who will be happy to just shout to him that Ana is 'Lola' with absolutely no background info to soften the blow, then Ana needs to brace for a nuclear bomb. Fernando will be devastated and will have no patience to listen to reasons.
At this point it is better for Fanny to take him out to lunch and spoon feed him the truth than for him to go on blind with 'sucker' written all over his forehead.
So I am not sure i would call Ana a coward... (and UA is right to an extent.) Ana lost her house (her only property) to a fire in episode 1 and the only thing left for her at the time was her best friend Jenny and her job at Chicago, which was not ideal but gave her some income. She was on survival mode and had very little more to lose in life. She was alone, did not have her mother with her, or anyone else but Jenny and a boyfriend who did not want to marry her, let alone have a child with her.
Suddenly she has a new job that pays better and... as she gets to know her new boss and gets really attached emotionally not only to him but to the kids, she knows that her secret night life will be a devastating reveal that will break her away from everything that Life has brought her recently. She then has to go throught the blow of Fernando marrying Isa and she sticks around and swallows hard her hurt and pride for the sake of the kids. Then she gets on wait/survival mode again... and latches on to Diego as an alternate possibility to stay in touch and be there for the kids... hoping against hope that there is still a 'chance' for her to forget Fernando and fall in love with Diego.
Personally, I would still watch something with JS and SN but would be more reluctant to commit if Osorio is related to the project in any way.
btw, yes the Fanny/HissaBella confrontation was the best part of friday's ep, especially when the last word out of Isa's mouth as Fernando was approaching was 'malcriada' (which is ill-mannered but literally means 'badly raised') and i was hoping Fernando got a good earfull of that last word...
I agree that some of the couples should just go away because they have no foundation based on what we know about the characters... Leon and Fanny, Hissabella and Johnny, etc.
I want Fanny(mostly due to Leon's selfishness and immaturity) and Nando to end up alone and get some more years of life experience before committing to anyone.
And after Osorio has tortured us for 135+ episodes, I REALLY want a Fer/Ana wedding by the finale, or i will never watch another Osorio project again (unless i see real good cast to overcome my despise of his mindset).
Ana and Bryan, welcome... we try to have fun with some of the nonsensical stuff Osorio throws our way nightly esp in all episodes beyond 100 or so...
Cuando me enamoro is my favorite Silvia project, besides this one. i agree with Salvador.
Sara, Fernando suffering from fog-itis? LOL!!! good one!
The mention of Mañana es para siempre reminds me of how much I enjoyed that novela. I had not seen Silvia before and was dazzled by her fine performance. The Colombian version of that novela Pura sangre is available on UTube and is also very good.
Jarifa - Off to shovel more of that snow. You made me laugh at the idea of the same 19 inches appearing over and over again. Drifting snow is the worst and apparently what is waiting for me out there. Happy Groundhog Day to all of our fellow- winter-sufferers!
I agree that any Angel-Ana relation is creepy with them both calling the same woman 'mom'.
Smart gold diggers latch on to people with real potential. Leon has real potential and he couldn't be all that bad if Rich Girl Fanny decided to go out with him. Plus Laura didn't feel all that good after prostituting herself out with Freaky.
New Credits
We don't see Nico too much (if any) in the new credits. We do see a lot of Jen & Johnny laughing and acting like a couple. Probably the original endgame was to have Jen and Nico together but either the Nico actor may not have been able to continue or...something happened to change the endgame from Jen/Nico to Jen/Johnny and they really can't have Jen running into Nico's arms in the credits if the endgame is Jen/Johnny.
Fanny/Leon remains the same in the new credits.
Pablo Montero and Rafael Inclan are still listed in the new credits, though.
I want Yo No Creo en Los Hombres at the 10:00 PM because it's A LOT darker than you think. I wouldn't put it past Uni to either A- Alma de Hierro it and air it on UniMas or B- La Malquerida it (forget the scissors, they'd break out a weed-whacker or hedge trimmers.)
Ok Lenin sort of won me over because of the robot dance moves he did a while ago. He's not traditionally sexy but a sloppy kind.
I've always wanted to ask; Does Leon wear Eye-Liner or Mascara? His brows are always on point.
Leon -- like most guys -- doesn't see this, so she is taking shameless advantage of the ways in which guys are naive about girls and women.
I first saw SN in MEPS (her first Televisa) and have been following ever since. She's my fav. AB is my fav of her TNs, though I really liked MEPS and CME. MCET would be last on my list.
But I think she actually does like Leon outside of Fanny.
U/A and Bryan: FWIW I think you two have hit it on the head WRT Nando--our 17 yr. old who has only begun his journey through life. Why the heck is a 17 yr old boy supposed to bear the burdens of both a 19 yr old bipolar ritch bitch and a 19 yr. old rape victim hiding her light behind an extreme, vampish Goth disguise?
I said in an earlier discussion that Nando would also feel "safe" to girls like these two. He isn't the type to take advantage of anyone and he's not a sexist jerk. He will very much appreciate a girl who is at his intellectual level.
But he still needs to go to college first. In fact, I'm amazed he didn't skip a grade or two already (unless that doesn't happen in Mexico).
BTW Victoria, I think it was due to how much of a fail it was that LPA was banned (I also wanna say since Gloria Trevi's character is slapped in the face 7 times by Harry Geithner but we have to remember Pedobear Medina getting past all sorts of sensors.)
