Thank you for our new page, Jean.

Los Mis

I saw only part of this episode, so only brief comments from last night:

HUH? Radames seemed sincere when Lily was in his office! Maybe he has half amnesia? Amnesia of convenience? And when he was meeting with Pablo, the question comes up, is his amnesia real, and enough to qualify for witness protection when he provides evidence against Olegario?

Wow, so much happened during that spread of mini-scenes they flashed through, covering MONTHS!

What a sweet little family, the Morreros, ah?

And is Daniel healed? Please, did anyone catch what Daniel said to his shrink about Lucha? I missed that line! Frustration, argh! Is he going to win us back by working earnestly with the shrink?

I can not believe how different Gabriel Porras has made his two characters - the twin brothers! What a Great he is.

Uh-oh. Did I see some transference in Daniel when the shrink gave him his clearance to return to duty? Gratitude to the shrink twisting into infatuation?

oy

Much happened, and I look forward to any more info and clarifying anyone can do! You all make it possible for me to keep up when I can not watch all, or full episodes. I am very thankful for that!

Thanks for the info, deb. I haven't watched my recording, but I was starting to suspect another season.

About the new kid on the block...

Here's what Telemundo is saying about its new baby today:

Dueños del Paraíso (Masters of Paradise)
by TELEMUNDO LOCAL, January 13, 2015

The Mexican actress Kate del Castillo is happy to return to the small screen in Dueños del Paraíso, Telemundo's 'super series' that premieres this Tuesday at 10pm/9c.

"I'm very pleased to come back with a character like Anastasia Cardona," said del Castillo.

The actress is joined by a multi-star cast that includes Miguel Varoni, José María Torre, Jorge Zabaleta and the Oscar nominee, Adriana Barraza.

In the story set in 1980s Miami, Kate plays Anastasia Cardona, the widow of a well-known drug lord. She joins forces with a group of drug traffickers to gain more power.

About the character she plays, she admits it has been hard to understand Anastasia and to justify what she does because, in many ways, she is very different from la "Reina," Teresa Mendoza. But in the end, says the actress, she understands that light and dark exist in all human beings.

"Teresa Mendoza never got her hands dirty, she put a great deal of value on life, friendship, women," she says of the character she played in La Reina del Sur.

In contrast, in Anastasia, she sees a certain resentment towards women -- "resentment towards women who can have children when she can't, resentment because of her mother's abandonment and abuse. So she admires men a little more, while in the case of Teresa, it was the exact opposite."

Del Castillo says that Dueños del Paraíso, a novela based on a true story, is entertaining and action-packed.

There are lots of characters, lots of incredible actors, and they aren't trying to neutralize their accents or anything because that's what it's about, because that's how Miami is," Kate said.

*************************

So now we sit back and wait to see what it's all about...

I apologize for being tardy, but a full day of work got in the way. Here goes nothin'

LOS MIZ Mon Jan 12

Lucy calls Dan from the ranch. Diablo intercept & grabs the phone. The the reindeer lock antlers over long distance. Dan, then shoves a whole slew of books and papers off his desk onto the floor. I call that productive behaviour.

Dan tells Pab about Luch being sequestered. Pab has to talk him down from his rescue fantasies.

Ivana questions Elena about Pablo; she wants to be sure she’s not treading where she shouldn’t. Elena lies.

The graffiti gang confers & decides to stage a demonstration. Fernanda gets snooty about having babies out of wedlock to which Iggy reminds her that their firstborn was born early…

Carlos & Deyanira are at her house. He can’t figure out what’s gone wrong between them. She lights into him for his cavalier & disparaging treatment of her, and then proceeds to enlarge on all the self-actualization she has accomplished due to supportive friend like Lucha, Sor Milagros, etc. Carlos tries to compliment her on how far she’s come (for a pathetic, ex-prosti, that is) and she shuts him right down, accusing him of insincerity & overweening pride and comparing him to all the men before, to which he snarls indignantly. (still doesn’t get it, does he?) She says she wants a decent life + a wedding ring. Whoops, pushed the wrong button with that one. He reacts very poorly. She shows him the door and then weeps profusely behind it.

Dan calls in the minion Leon & Evaristo to research all property owners in Nueva Leon. He’s clearly overstepping here, because, he’s been removed from active duty. He warns them to keep mum about his secret project. He offers them coffee because they are going to be up all night. (Do they get overtime pay for this unauthorized moonlighting?)

Evaristo & Leon, by morning’s light have compiled a long list of ranch owners for Danny.

Deya seeks alternate employment w. Sor Mili. She just can’t work for Charlie anymore, and I don’t blame her.

Meanwhile, back at THE ranch in Nueva Leon, Lucha brings a breakfast try to the twin brother, who we learn is named Rafael. He shares his sad story: something about being adopted, pregnant wife killed in a car accident and he survived as a cripple with no desire to live.) He gives her a folder containing his medical records from which she concludes there is no physical reason he can’t walk. Chalk it up to PTSD; it’s all in his head.

Lucha is not as forthcoming with her story. She confides her urgent need to escape with the kids at which point El Diablo (who, of course, had been eavesdropping) bursts in.

A scene of his ridiculous posturing and declaring his love which ends with his grabbing her violently around the neck, at which point the twin brother stands UP on his OWN 2 feet! A true Helen Keller moment! (if you ever saw the Miracle Worker). I love watching these to characters face off in this scene. Gabriel Porras is so cool.

Carlos needs to talk to Deya; she’s kinda busy (not only that, she actually looks like a well-pulled-together, nicely groomed, competent professional for the 1st time - not THAT kind of professional).

At the hotel Faraon, Elena with her amnesiac pharaoh in tow takes a call from Liliana. He doesn’t seem to recognize his own office. He can’t remember owing money to this partner, Marrero. Elena can’t fill in any blanks bcs. she’s never had any dealings w. money except to spend it. She’s sorry she can’t help The Pharaoh out of this jam because she’s certain The Devil wants his dough and will stop at nothing to get it.

Anselmo, arrested and under interrogation by Pablo & his boys, is on the hot seat. He “knows his rights” but Pablo has other ideas.

LOS MIZ parte dos

Back at the ranch, Rafa begs Lucha not to abandon him when she makes her break. He thinks she’s capable of taming that savage beast of a Diablo.
Diablo gripes to henchman Pepe about Anselmo being in custody and orders Pepe to beef up the guard around Lucha. Just what she wants to hear as she steps in and goes into full charge mode. She’s telling him, how things are going to go around here. Sho won’t run off, BUT in return, her conditions are: to go shopping for the stuff they need, NO firearms around the children, some spending money AND, she gets to give physical therapy to Rafael. She argues less successfully for phone rights, because of her ailing papa, and Olegario grudgingly hands her his cell. She makes the call, short & sweet, in his presence. Just enough to say “we’re OK and bye”. Diablo is over the moon after this exchange believing her tough conditions equal some sort of love.

Back at the Faraon, Radames is assiduously not remembering as he leafs through sheaves of documents. Elena excuses herself to go to the ladies’, when who should pop out of the woodwork but Liliana. Rad stares hard & flashes back through a cheesy B&W solarized effect. Pinting a finger he identifies her correctly, remembering that they had been “amantes”. Lily disses Rad big time, every nasty insult she can think up. He can’t believe it himself….“the sister of my wife?” He’s straining credibility with his incredulity. Lil drops the bomb that Diablo owns half of everything. It’s Elena’s turn to be incredulous.

At the police station, Pablo has to rouse the drowsy cop kids who are sleeping off their all-nighter on the crappy cop couch. Of course, they pretend they weren’t on a special op for Dan the last 12 hours. Elena & Rad arrrive at Pab’s office. They get him to offer them Witness Protection, I guess because they are worried about more attacks on the kid. Pablo accuses Rad of faking. Elena protests that they have a doctor’s certificate for proof. At this point, Ivana, the niece bursts in (without knocking) and plants a big smooch of her sweetie. This doesn’t sit well with Elena.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the whole plaid-shirted gang of ranch hands escort our little family into town, in a giant SUV with tinted windows, for their supervised shopping trip. Memin rolls down his window to observe a police, with a white van, stopping someone in the street. (of course, we know who it is). Diablo yells at him to shut the window because of the air conditioning. Lucha snaps back not to holler at her kids. A typical happy family out for a drive to the mall.

Fernanda visits cute gay doctor to cast aspersion and blame for Abel’s difficulties, whatever they are. Particularly when the Doc suggests psychiatric help for Abel (wrong move there, buddy) He accuses her of being a castrating mother and shows her the door. Whew!

Carlos has to run to answer his own phone now (how annoying). It’s Dan’s shrink wanting to know why he isn’t keeping his appointments (I think?) Meanwhile Dan is up in N.L. posing as a fumigator in his white van driving around from one ranch to another trying to gain entry.

Next, we are treated to a dialogue-less montage of events passing through the next several months, in which: Lucha & kids are peacefully occupied at the ranch while Raf regains the use of his legs under Lucha’s care; Dan makes more rounds with the bug spray; the graffiti outlaws chain themselves to the school gates thereby attracting attention & sympathy that causes grief to the headmaster; Pablo dating the niece and smooching outside the window in full view of Elena; Dan actually showing up at his shrink appointment; the Duran family’s persistence paying off in the end, hugs all around; Danny boy & Carlos making up. By the time this montage is over, Lucha’s hair has grown a full 8 or so inches. We see the happy family of prisoners at dinner. Rafael & Lucha exchange meaningful glances.

LOS MIZ parte tres

Dan digs deep into his tortured psyche to dredge up a bunch of claptrap about his early vulnerable feelings & losses -YAWN- He sobs; he confesses true love for Lucia. Lady shrink kind of smirks, but for all this unloading she rewards him with what he wants more than anything. He’s passed with flying colors: it’s the note from his doctor, the pass to return to work.

Roxi’s talking up a veritable storm. Diablo pushes the “family” idea; he’s going to take them on a trip to Columbia together before they go to settle in San Diego. Diablo presses his suit as a lover once again. She’s not havin’ any. Diablo extracts a promise that Lucia will go to bed with him AFTER the Columbia excursion when they get to SD. Raf gets to stay home (it is his home after all) He’s still kind of in the wheelchair despite the months of therapy.

Now we see a truly bizarre scene in some garden or plaza where A&A are seated before an enormous scale model, presumably of the mansion they are planning to build (with whose fortune?) Abel niggles about site lines while Adriana indulges in double vision and nausea.

Back at the ranch, Raf walks! this time without weakness. Lucha encounters him; congratulates him and he begs her to help him escape.

¡Basta ya!

Dueños Del Paraiso

- Adan is too dorky to sell cocaine. I give him a week. I have no idea what he was thinking by wanting to play hero and following the guys who took Cardona without something to defend himself with.

- Renato should have given Modesta the gun. So much for him defending everyone. The other guards weren't any better. I would fire Renato if I were Nataniel.

- I can totally see Erica seducing Adan.

- What could Irene be running away from?

Can't wait to see what happens next.

*Conrado not Cardona

DUEÑOS DEL PARAISO – Primer Episodio – Part 1

This will by no means be comprehensive, and I didn’t get some of the names at all. But here’s something to start off with.

We start off with our protagonist, Anastasia Cardona, floating in the sea. We then see her at the bottom, hands bound. She says: “This is the world I was born to. I had to survive where there aren’t good guys nor bad guys, heroes nor villains. Who gives up loses, and I’m going to win.” We see her get free and float to the surface.

We see some evil dudes in black helmets and jumpsuits in a helicoptor. The main evil dude is Elizondo. He says that Nataniel Cardona has his days numbered.

We see a nice hacienda. Think it’s México, but I’m not certain. A big sign says “Feliz Cumpleaños, Anastasia". The apparent head of security, Renato, tells the guards which places they are to guard. The mayor arrives and is greeted by Nataniel Cardona. Anastasia walks out and her husband, Nat, asks the mariachis to sing Las Mañanitas.

A dumpy woman in red shows up and Anastasia is shocked and very rude. This woman, Irene, tells Nat that she’s Ana’s mother. (I’m abbreviating Anastasia; it’s wearing me out!). Nat brings Irene to talk with Ana. Ana reminds her mother of when she prostituted herself in the same room with her. She chokes up about something that happened when she was eight. Think one of the johns molested her. Ana says her mother can stay a few days, but she’ll never forgive her.

The guys in black creep closer to the hacienda. Seems like there’s more of them than could fit in the helicopter, even though some of them sat on the landing skids. They start shooting the guards, so I don’t think they’re police. Ana gets a horse for her birthday and a human foot in a shoe box! Dozens of people get shot. Renato protects Ana, her mother, and her faithful retainer, Modesta. She sees her husband leaving, and runs after. What a guy! He’s taking off in a speedboat with two guys, leaving her behind. She tells Renato that these people are going to kill her right away. The war with the Santa Norma cartel just began.

Now we move to Miami, Florida. It says it’s 1977. I have no idea if this goes back in time or if it’s 1977 when the big shootout happened. A guy named Adán Romero, his wife, and daughter arrive at an apartment building. He asks a guy cleaning a pool a question, but the guy, Conrado, thinks he’s there to buy drugs. Eventually Adán tells him he’s come for an apartment arranged for him by his new employer, Sullevan Plastics. The apartment is a total wreck.

We see our hero Nat getting ready to leave the airport with a cute blond. Some guys shoot at him, but he gets away in a private plane.

Adán gets a call. His mother has tumors in her gall bladder and needs surgery. He has to come up with $3,500. Adán and his wife have dinner with Conrado and his wife. Conrado suggests they go out for some beer. Adán sees Conrado doing a dope deal, and is not too happy. Eventually, though he accepts $3,000 from Conrado to help his mother.

DUEÑOS DEL PARAISO – Primer Episodio – Part 2

At the hacienda Modesta gets all over Irene saying she knows what she put Ana through. And she’s pretty sure Irene is there for the money. Irene kind of shows her true colors, and we see a flashback of her in a sort of drunken state escaping out a window from a room where there’s a gun on the bed.

We see Renato talking with what’s left of the security guys at the hacienda. We also see a bomb under the outdoor table. Ana is taking a shower and we see Elizondo, the evilest guy, break the glass. She comes out nude and is grabbed up. Elizondo is trying to get her to tell him where Nat is. He forces her on the bed and threatens her. It seems as if she eventually gets raped by two of the thugs. After the bomb goes off, Renato tries to get up the stairs to her, but he’s cut and loses consciousness.

We see the thugs in a car that’s broken down. Ana is in the back seat, apparently passed out. But when the guys are fussing over the car, she gets away. They chase her. She winds up collapsing on a beach, where she is found by a family.

Back in Miami Adán Romero goes to work and confronts his boss about the fact that he had a contract to earn $40K and is being paid $25K. The guy insults him and fires him on the spot. On his way home Adán sees some guys grab up Conrado and follows the car. They wind up at a fancy house. But Adán is punched out immediately. It turns out that the rich guy providing the marijuana wants his money, the money Conrado gave Adán. But then he changes tack and wants Conrado to use his street contacts to sell cocaine. Conrado refuses and is about to get a beating when Adán pops up and says he’s Conrado’s partner and, of course, they’ll sell the cocaine!

Renato is speaking to Nat on the phone. He tells him he has to get Anastasia out of town. Nat protests, saying it’s too soon. Meanwhile, in Ana’s room, a guy comes in dressed like a doctor, pulls out a gun, points it in her face, and tells her this is a gift from Leandro Quezada.

Didn’t have time to polish this, look up names, or be witty. But here it is!

Thank you, LXV, and novelera, for great detailed recaps!

Los Mis

LXV: Lucha and entourage "A typical happy family out for a drive to the mall." They really are! " ... the happy family of prisoners at dinner."

So many great comments!
And, for me, gaps filled, thank you so much!

I wish you would never feel "tardy" with a recap. It is ALL GIFT! When you give it, it is great, and speaking for myself, makes tremendous difference in following what I see in pieces. But you are a busy person, and I have seen that people on this wonderful blog are patient and appreciative.

I can not comment all I would like to, right now, but a bit,
I got the impression that we were seeing through Radames' eyes and brain, that he was getting memories back as we watched. It is likely his then passing out has, in tn fashion, triggered the full return of his memory. And it is clear, with that one lecherous sneer-smile at Lily, that his libido does not require memory at all. I just want him to mess up and Helena to finally get it about him. After all, it seems that Pablo is not liking Ivanna's aggressive moves, and less the more she pushes.

I am sure you already know that Adriana was going into preeclampsia - or maybe eclampsia? I missed what the doctor told Abel, though, and what Adriana was overhearing. I will be watching the whole episode online tomorrow.

I loved the doctor accusing [Fernanda] "of being a castrating mother ... ." Yes, "Whew!" Spot on, doctor!

Oh, and I LOVE: [Deya] "she’s kinda busy (not only that, she actually looks like a well-pulled-together, nicely groomed, competent professional for the 1st time ... "
She looked great! What a change, and more attractive - as Carlos seemed to be noticing, himself, ah?

" - not THAT kind of professional)." LOL

Dueños Del Paraiso

novelera, your recap is a great help to me!

In the middle of this opening, I was planning to post this here: TOO.MUCH. NOPE.
I turned it off.
But I am a Kate del Castillo superfan, so I watched the end of it, deciding to try to get through what I described to my mother as "The CAUSE of the revenge the story is about." Then, on to the ACTUAL story.

So, your recap has filled in the blanks where I couldn't watch, and makes it possible to keep up from here. Thank you!

Dueños del paraíso

Good cast and acting; but I hated it. Boring and clichéd with lazy, contrived plotting and surprisingly amateurish direction. I thought this was supposed to be a "super-production."

I did get a kick out of the worst concealed stuntman I've seen in a show in a long, long time. It was so bad, somebody in post actually put a black blob over the stuntman's face in an effort to conceal that it wasn't Tony Dalton in the fight scene, so it looked like Dalton turned into a phantom menace. Unfortunately, the stuntman's hair was at least 5 inches longer than Dalton's. So stupid. Typical Miami-mundo bush league.

Dueños del Paraíso
Many thanks, Novelera! I'm probably alone in that I liked the first episode and I want to continue watching. I'm in it for Conrado and Adan, not really for Anastasia.

Thanks so much Novelera!

I liked the first episode as well and will continue to watch.

One thing to add: Modesta ran up the stairs after hearing the screams and came face to face with one of the thugs who shot her in the eye. She tumbled down the stairs. The next morning she was found by Irene who slept through the whole thing probably due to the sedative (?) Modesta put in her tea the night before.

the Miserables

super recap LXV!
love your style, thanks so much!

also loving the two Gabriel Porras!

from last night, some things on Preeclampsia from the Mayo clinic,

"Preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to another organ system, often the kidneys. Preeclampsia usually begins after 20 weeks of pregnancy in a woman whose blood pressure had been normal.

Left untreated, preeclampsia can lead to serious — even fatal — complications for both you and your baby. If you have preeclampsia, the only cure is delivery of your baby.

If you're diagnosed with preeclampsia too early in your pregnancy to deliver your baby, you and your doctor face a challenging task."

Dueños del Paraiso

thanks so much novelera!
you threw in quite a bit of detail that I missed.

ah, so this is written by Pablo Illanes, who brought us "Alguien Te Mira" and "¿Dónde está Elisa?", should be a different kind of story.

I'm loving seeing Tony Dalton (Renato) again (who was Rafael in "Flor Salvaje")

looking forward to seeing María Luisa Flores again, (who was Connie in "Reina de Corazones")

I thought this was a pretty good first show with lots of action, but I liked how they eased us into the new characters.

Conrado looks like a fun guy, and what did Adán just walk into, nice apartment, could you help me out, Erika asks, is this like a Chevy Chase Lampoon movie, the Romero's "Vacation" in Miami.

Dueños

I'm hoping we have enough folks for at least brief recaps that will stimulate conversation here. I cannot recap that frequently but certainly would commit to once a week if others would be willing.

Dueños

Great recap, Novelera, thanks! I am going to be watching this one, but I don't think I can commit to recaps. However, I will be commenting, and may be able to do some mini recaps, but I can't promise that at this point.

I loved the first episode! It was intense. Lots of shooting, the main character got raped on the first episode just like Reina del Sur, and some of the typical things I find funny, such as the bad guys kill all the guards and many of the innocent guests, but just happen to miss all the druglords they were shooting for.

We have to watch out with calling Anastasia Ana, because there's another Ana, namely, Analia, who is the wife of the rich guy Mario (she was wearing that white jump suit, he patted her tush). I guess we can call her Analia, which is a lot shorter than Anastasia. Or we could call Anastasia "Stacy". Maybe not :)

I also liked Verónica, Adán's wife, very funny as a typical housewife, she played a spoiled rich woman in Alguien te Mira (I think). I agree with the comment that she may have some run in with Erica, Conrado's wife. Ximena Duque is one of my favorite actresses, and she was very seductive at that swimming pool.

Dueños
I'm having to record the midnight showing of this and watching it the next day (if I'm lucky), so I know I'm out for recapping.

I plan to watch can comment, though usually I have nothing to say beyond "it was a good episode." I enjoy reading everyone else's predictions and observations, though. Caray viewers are very astute and I love reading their analyses.

Dueños

Novelera, thanks so much for getting the ball rolling with a terrific recap of the first episode.

Sorry, but I'm not going to recap this one. I'm not even sure if I'll be watching, though I'm going to see how the next few episodes play out before deciding. I sure hope you find a quorum of recappers out there because there are surely lots of folks watching this one.

Los Mis
Agnes, you amaze me. I haven't watched this show in a long time, but I do love reading what you have to say about it. Thank you thank you thank you!

Dueños
muchas gracias Novelera

So glad there wasn't as much violence as Sra Acero !!!
The cocaine cowboys were in Miami in the 70s & 80s. There is a great documentary about them. There were many shootouts on the streets between Columbians & Cuban among others.
La viuda negra was based on Griselda Blanca, a narca. I didn't finish the novela She was a really violent murdering narca, even had her husband killed & they think over 100 others & very cruelly.
Apparently Anastasia is not based on her, looks like Anastasia is Mexican, Griselda was Colombian.
Nat is played by Guillero Quintanilla, Isidro Robles in El señor 1.

Los mis
Not able to watch, so glad to have the recaps to keep me up with it. I miss seeing Gabriel Porras in the duel role. So Daniel has forgiven Lucia or is he convinced of her innocence????

I gave up on Tierra.

Is anyone able to watch anything on Telemundo website?

Gracias a todos for your kind responses. No chance of a recap for last night's, sorry about that.

Thanks to Aficionada y deb for filling us in on pre-eclampsia. That Mayo Clinic description is dire indeed. This is a grave situation for both mama y bebe. Decisions will have to be made. Fabulous fodder for a telenovela

Aficionada You are a gem, for your astute contributions. Such a sensitive soul, you'd make a great recapper yourself.

NvMvComing from you, high praise indeed. I'm only trying to keep our small, but stalwart band together. The day i come to CarayCaray and find a blank page would be a bleak one indeed. Never thought I could write a recap, but evidently I was wrong and I wish I had more time to do a proper job of it.

VarioThat's the only thing I can't quite swallow about all this. I don't think he's forgiven her at all. I think he's convinced of her guilt and yet he persists in his perverse obsessive love. So psychiatric clearance notwithstanding, I do NOT vote for those two getting together again. I still think he's vengeful & abusive.

Variopinta, I have been able to watch on Telemundo site, but it is not working too well. It is better than a month ago, so someone seems to be trying to fix it. I find that if just let it play through, including all the ads, it does go through whole episodes. Sometimes it requires rehitting a play button, and sometimes that brings up the previous segment instead of the next, but that is happening much less than before. Also, I find that pausing it for a while before playing can help, as if it helps to download more before playing.

lxv, thank you so very much for your kind words! They mean a lot, coming from you! I post entirely because of your encouragement when I was first so nervous about even posting at all.

I watch in such pieces, and depend so much on your, and others' recaps, that I hesitate to recap ... yet! I learn much from you about how to recap, though. So I might find myself expanding to more and more detailed comments, until it turns into recapping!

More later. Doing my usual stop-though read.

Thanks to all recappers and commenters for recaps and explanations. I just want to add that I was also shocked by Carlos' words and I hope Deyanira's holds out until he begs her to marry him. He and Daniel are very much alike in their ability to be rude.

Also re: radames, the reason I thought he was faking is because of the way he expressed to doubt about Deborah's leadership skills. To me those were the thoughts of the old radAmes. However now it appears there is some sincerity of his part.

Dueños

Novelera, many thanks for the recap of episode 1. The recap cleared up a lot of my confusion. Thanks too to NovelaMaven, deb, and Variopinta for added information. I was especially interested to know that the guy who played Oleg Yasikov in La Reina del Sur will be in this novela. That's almost enough by itself to get me to continue to watch. One more connection to other novelas: Guillermo Quintanilla, in addition to being Isidro in El Señor 1, was also Rodrigo Cantú (Marta's husband) in En Otra Piel.
Neither my Spanish nor my crazy schedule will permit me to do recaps, but I will be watching and trying to comment when I can.

Los Mis

Variopinta, I spoke too soon, sorry. Telemundo site had problems for me last night. I hope not for you, too!

deb, thank you for the details about preeclampsia. Poor Adriana! And Abel, too!

I got to see that episode last night (a day late), and understand more. Finally some honesty between A+A:
Adriana tells Sor Milagros that she believes god gave her preeclampsia and probable young death as punishment for her infidelity. Dear Sor Milagros tells her that death isn't punishment, and she must live her life fully, even if briefly.
So, during a bittersweet talk, Adriana told Abel they needed to talk with their hearts and souls, as best friends and "As if I might die tomorrow," I think was how she put it. She told Abel that knowing she could die so soon made her realize she didn't want to spend whatever time she has without the one she loves, "the policeman." It was very touching, tearful. When he asked how he could tell his father, she told Abel just to tell his father the truth, that his father also had little time to waste on more deception.

I revise my comment about Pablo being uncomfortable with Ivana's aggressiveness. He seems to be enjoying it much more, them kissing passionately, and at a formal party!

lxv: "I don't think he's [Daniel] forgiven her [Lucha] at all. I think he's convinced of her guilt and yet he persists in his perverse obsessive love. So psychiatric clearance notwithstanding, I do NOT vote for those two getting together again. I still think he's vengeful & abusive." Yes, yes!
I tell you, I almost feel ill watching him look so supposedly earnest!

Spanish student: " ... I was also shocked by Carlos' words and I hope Deyanira holds out until he begs her to marry him." Yes!!
And about Radames: " ... now it appears there is some sincerity of his part." I agree! "some" is the word for it. He seems to really have SOME amnesia, just not as much as he is letting some think.

Dueños

I liked what I saw, much more. I have to watch it this weekend to comment. But I loved Anastasia's change to fierce!

Thanks to all for great recaps and comments on all!

Dueños del Paraíso-Wednesday
This is not a recap since it's from memory. And out of order. And too short.

Renato shoots Leandro Quezada's messenger and gets Anas out of the hospital. He then calls Nat and tells him they need to get Anas to Miami. Nat is hesitant.

I sense that Nat's hesitation is because Gina, his "assistant" (emphasis on "a$$"), is very efficient. She tells him she's expecting his child. They also discuss how the war with Leandro started. I can't remember if it was Leandro himself or a guy in his outfit, but someone "took advantage" of Nat's daughter and he is not going to let that slide.

Anas's mother begs for her forgiveness. She is sorry for all that happened so many years ago.

Conrado is still in shock that he is stuck selling Alejandro's cocaine. Adan is a little confused about how it happened too. Turns out they are pretty good at selling cocaine.

Adan's wife is starting to get suspicious. Adan is out all nigh and leaving early with the neighbor. Erica tells her that it's probably best that she not ask a lot of questions.

Nat concedes and tells Anas she can come to Miami, but could she please smuggle in a load of cocaine? She reminds him that before they got married, he promised that she would never be put at risk. She also asks him for the head of the three pigs that raped her. He agrees and she agrees to smuggle the cocaine.

Alejandro wants to partner up with Nat and asks Conrado and Adan to be the salesmen. Adan is especially hesitant, but Conrado talks him into it.

Anas arrives in Miami. There is a tense bag search scene, but she makes it out of the airport. She later tells Nat that since he used her as a mule, she's coming with him to his meeting with Alejandro.

Anas gets dolled up and disguised. On her way out, she overhears Gina talking on the phone. Anas now knows Gina is carrying Nat's child. As Anas rides to the meeting, she checks to make sure her gun is in her purse.

At the drug lord meeting on the patio, Nat and Ale are finalizing the partnership when the bad guys show up in boats with guns. They open fire. Anas recognizes one of them as her rapist and she starts shooting.

Dueños
Oh, and Adan's wife called Sullevan plastics and found out he doesn't work there anymore.

Dueños
How did the bad bad guys find Nat & group so quickly?

Aficionada
I have given up on watching on the Telemundo website, it is too frustrating & I have little patience.Happy to know it is not sth stupid I am doing. My video stops on the 1st commercial & won't move, grrrr! It was perfect in the beginning, what on earth have they done to f it up?

Duwños

Thanks so much Sara!

Nat started the war when he put a price on head of Nicanor Quezada because Nicanor took advantage of Nat's daughter Silvana. Nicanor must related to Leandro somehow. Perhaps a brother?

Nat made so many promises last night. I doubt he'll keep them.

Gina better watch out. Anastasia knows she wants a child with her hubby. For sure Anastasia will do something about this.

I too want to know how the bad guys found Nat so fast.

Adan and Conrado did do a good job at selling all that cocaine.

To add to the recap: We found out via flashback that it appears that Irene killed a man. Henchmen of the man entered then room after Irene had fled and chased after her with guns accusing her of having killed their boss.

*must be related to Leandro

*entered the room

Dueños
Thanks for the added details, Mauricio!!

I pay so much attention to Conrado and Adan that I sort of forget Anas and her mom. OOOPS.

Dueños
Can someone explain something to me? Conrado is ok selling marijuana becuase it's "natural" and "from the earth." He has trouble with cocaine because it's full of chemicals. Not that I think you are all experts and cocaine production, but what is that all about? I thought cocaine was processed from the coca leaf. How is it not natural?

LOS MIZ Wed Jan 14

The show opens at The Policemen's Ball. Dan's shrink has wangled an invitation, strictly as a "professional", of course. He picks her up at her house and she's wearing long black with a sheer bodice that somewhat mitigates the deeply plunging cut at the bustline. Very chic, not particularly tacky, but definitely an attention-getter. Pablo's date is considerably more colorful in a psychedelic purple gown that is quite securely taped to her painfully-obvious artificial assets. It doesn't have much of a back either, so I'm guessing there's some pretty strenuous engineering going on under that fabric keeping the whole thing front & center, And Evaristo's date (drumrolll.....) is Leon! Ta-da. She makes her entrance a little later in a short black sort of bandage dress. Her poker straight hair is, for once, let loose from that darn ponytail.

Ok, just so you know, this is strictly from memory (I don't have time to go back & watch the show again), so y'all are welcome to add whatever you remember.

Adri & Abel have a sweet sad interlude where she encourages him to seek the truth. She's already come clean. I'm not convinced she suspects his deep dark secret, or if she does, it doesn't seem so deep and dark as it does to him. The reaffirm their deep affection for each other, but she has to live in the light, and so is going off to find the man she is in love with. Poor Adri, she picked the wrong night, because her gonzo cop has already made his move on that little tomboy he never noticed before and well, can you blame him? So, Adri is in for the disappointment of her life, because she makes the mistake of stopping by the Policemen's Ball to tell Evaristo everything is going to be OK now. (not)

Pablo & Dan introduce their dates, who it turns out are already acquainted, like from childhood (what a coincidence), which means they run off together to catch up and leave Dan & Pab to rehash the eternal problems again. May I say these dudes do clean up nicely, in tuxedos, no less. Evaristo, also in a tux (but without a haircut) awaits his date, and when she arrives. VaVaVoom. And they spend the rest of the evening making out on the dance floor, which of course, leads to further making out in the bedroom such that they are late to work the next day and everybody razzes them. Dan has politely escorted lady shrink (help me, I'm blocking her name, it's a psychological problem) back home and declines a nightcap upstairs. She actually tells him that he's going to have to continue with another therapist because she has found herself emotionally involved. Hint, hint, still don't wanna come upstairs? He clenches his jaw and soldiers on. Pablo, likewise cuts his leave-taking short because of its awkward location at Elena's house and the fact that his mind is on business. At some point in this epi, Pab confesses to Dan that he's just not that into Ivana bcs. he still loves Elena too much and that he's using Ivana sort of as an excuse to hang around and keep an eye on things. Cuz something just ain't kosher over there. Can't remember at what point Dan receives the call from Diablo, but let's just say that Diablo calls just about everybody in this hour to let them know, he's makin' his move and they're gonna regret it.

The other thing Diablo is doing is getting an implant to replace that conspicuously gleaming gold snaggle tooth of his. Why, you might ask? When the poor dentist who, I'm surprised they let go alive, wrote out Diablo's pain Rx, he was told to double it.

Our escapees, meanwhile are still in that dark driveway where they shook off Diablo's pursuit. "Whadda we do now?" Rafael has a plan. They drive cautiously down dark streets to some enormous uninhabited mansion: Raf's ancestral home (well, since he was adopted anyway) that I guess he inherited when the dad died. They turn on the lights and hunker down. Lucia hears a sound outside. Rafa, wearing that Father-Knows-Best argyle knitted V-neck goes out with a flashlight into the garden to check. Dun-da-dun-dun! Olegario Marrero in his silver-trimmed charro suit, but minus his gold-trimmed tooth is hiding in the bushes. Ambush!!!! And El Diablo assumes the mild-mannered garb of the sweet, unassuming Rafael and walks back into the house. I think Lucha's spidey sense is alerted from the get-go, despite the argyle sweater. The uneasily go about their business, the kids to bed (but it looks to me as if they know. Lucia alone with the bad twin isn't getting the right vibe, particularly when he plants a kiss on her unsuspecting lips (all this from a guy with a 12-hour dental implant, whoo). It's not until she reads the label on his pill bottle that she starts to get a handle on the terrible inevitabililty. We don't really see what happens next. I think they escape on foot.

Meanwhile back at the Hotel Faraon. we join a confab of rats: Genaro, Liliana, Radames (who seems to have broken through his brain fog) and the lowly Nuria (who has been assigned the menial task of hauling large boxes of paperwork around in her red spandex bondage dress & ankle-breaker heels). The paperwork has a sobering effect on any high-flying plans, despite all that cash in the Caymans that Lily stole). They are cornered and they know it. There's no way out but to kill Marrero. They look at lists of properties where they might make this happen. [disclaimer: I missed an awful lot of this conversation, so I'm making it up. If you actually understood what they were saying, please set me straight] Liliana likes the idea of some abandoned old factory on the outskirts of town. Meanwhile, Nuria gets kidnapped out from under an enormous cardboard carton while tottering around on this heels in a hallway somewhere. They take her to an enormous underground room with green walls. She struggles and bugs her eyes out and shakes her ringlets and somehow frees herself to run back and warn the gang that Diablo is already on the move.
LOS MIZ Wed Jan14 - parte 2
Diablo is indeed, he's been making those threatening phone calls all around. (Are we in ultimos capitulos yet?, sure feels like it, but no hint from Telemundo as far as I know) So, the next time we see the rat gang, they are spooking around the abandoned old factory building on the other side of town, decked out in T-shirts, fatigues & baseball caps. Even Liliana (actually, it's not a bad look for her, a nice change from the Spandex, which she wears so well).

Lucha and the kids, meanwhile are out and about. She manages to beg the cost of a payphone from a stranger in some public place. She calls Deyanira who, at that very moment, is with Sor Milagros, who is singing her praises as the most wonderful, efficient helper. This is the first bright moment in an otherwise grim episode. A tender, but tantalizing scene at home with Deya hugging the peluche and still not finding the flash drive, as she ponders what to do to help her friend.

Elena goes to the police station to report that Radames has received a threatening call from Diablo.

Marrero drives into the abandoned old factory building on the outskirts of town with his entourage, The cops arrive and shoot at shadows.

At the Durans', Fernanda bitches at Iggy because he's getitng excited over a futbol game. She actually shuts off the TV in the interest of his blood pressure. But then, a commotion at the door and Lucha comes home. This scene completely melted me. The two kids in their goofy sweatshirt getups and a bedraggled Lucia face to face with Fernanda & Ignacio. How many times has she come to that door, only to be spurned, sneered at and turned away. Of course the kids rush into the arms of the abuelos. Lucia holds back, as if to say, am I welcome? WOW! that was a don't-miss episode. I really don't want this novela to end, but where the heck can they go from here. Seems as though final battles are about to begin.

LOS MIZ

Thanks Aficionada for your beautiful description of the tender scene with Adri & Abel. and also the great consolation that Sor Milagros was able to give to Deyanira. These are powerful scenes. One of the reasons I like this novela so much.

And Spanish Student, you were the first one to tip me off that Radames might be faking. I'm so gullible I fell for it hook line & sinker, but the writers wanted us to think that all along. Thanks for suggesting back when you did, or I would have been sitting there scratching my head all this time. It appears now, that perhaps it was genuine amnesia, but the question remains and it makes for a much more interesting story.

LOS MIZ

Just wanted to reiterate what Aficionado wrote "When he asked how he could tell his father, she told Abel just to tell his father the truth, that his father also had little time to waste on more deception."

As we have seen, so many telenovelas thrive on deception as a central plot device. This is the first one I've seen that deals with telling the truth as a liberating, creative act. I missed the entire first few months of this show, and almost passed it by when I got back to civilization, but I'm so glad I tuned it. This one I will definitely watch again sometime. The acting & the writing are a cut above the usual.

Dueños del Paraiso

hi Sara- wow thanks for the summary,

I too wondered about cocaine when we watched the novela on Pablo Escobar, as I had watched a travel show in Bolivia where they were drinking a tea made from the coca leaves to ease the high altitude affects, so I think that is even legal, but then there is the part where it is concentrated into a paste, and then there is the part where Escobar and guys refined it even further for the American market so we're talking about something that is being concentrated hundreds of time. If you google "cocaine processing" you can read over the process like from here, cocaine

lxv
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You filled me in on
several things that I would never have picked up on my
own. I,too, am loving this story. At this point I'm hoping
for Rafael and Lucha to be together in the end. Daniel
has turned out to be a huge disappointment.

AnonGringa

Los mis

I don't know who Ivana is or maybe I just forgot, pls refresh my memory.

Ivana is the niece of Radames, supposedly.

the Miserables,

love your recaps lxv,
they are better than the show!

I think the Nuria kipnap and escape was to lead them all back to that place and I'm wondering if the brother is being set up to be killed, as Olegario has been busy stealing kisses.

kind of smart of Olegario to have watched Rafael and Lucha on secret cameras all this time to prepare.

Aracely Arámbula (Lucha) is the best at stirring up the tears, loved our misfit tag team at home, all in hoodies, (and loved your description of Lucia waiting in the doorway to see if she was welcomed) please no one tell Daniel, she did after all escape from prison.

hmm, so Deyanira ran to dr. Carlos for help, and he quietly did.

I'm loving how Abel and Adriana are still best buddies, there are some pretty big rocks in their road, and shame on the policia for hurting our dying Adriana, no misunderstanding there.

it sounds like Radamés' big problem is that coming out of the fog he discovers Déborah ran off with half his money and the other half he owes to Diablo.

Variopinta- Ivana is Radamés niece, recently separated and arriving from Paris (where she ran into Debra), who has designs on Pablo, can I offer you a boob, she doesn't actually say.

Duenos:

Thanks again for the fun recap, Novelera. I liked you a$$ comment! How true. The actress who plays Gina was last seen by some of us in Los Herederos del Monte, where she played Julieta, who started out nice and good. But when Marlene Favela showed up and Julieta's fiance fell for Marlene's character, Julieta became the villana! I think she's great as a bad girl.

Conrado and Adan's boss, whom I thought was Mario, is listed in the cast list as Mario Alejandro Esparza, so he probably goes by Alejandro, which is what Novelera called him.

Another of my favorite things happened last night - someone shoots someone in a hospital room, and the staff doesn't notice or respond. Renato and Anas just walked right out.

I'm also enjoying the 70's fashions and hairstyles. Believe it or not, I had an Afro hairstyle (a permanent!), mustache and Aviator glasses that got dark when you went outside in 1977.

But I never wore a leisure suit! :)

LOS MIZ
deb you're a doll! You filled in the (crucial) parts I missed. Tks.

Dueños del Paraiso

thanks again Sara!

Ana's suitcase was the first I've seen in a novela that looked like it had something in it, I was wondering if she was going to get it up on the table, did someone say it had a false bottom, I guess mom was clean, something about her, how Nat eased her into Ana's life, I'm suspicious.

and no wheels on the luggage keeping with the times, and more open windows than air conditioners, but dial phones, I guess it was an in-between period?

Hombre, I have really missed your comments, so happy you are back, I vacationed in Miami around this time, I can smell the air watching this show, and my brother got a perm, drove a GTO.

aside from what we are seeing there is this underlying story that is really drawing me in, Pablo Illanes (the writer) is good at that.

Dueños
Yes, deb--the suitcase had a false bottom. Thank you again for more detail.

I am suspicious of the mom too now that you've pointed out how Nat pulled her in.

I am loving the 70's setting and clothes, too.

Los Mis

lxv, thanks for the recaps and your enthusiasm. You are helping get me back into this one!

Daniel's therapist is named Marina Valdez. At least she told Dan she could no longer treat him due to an ethical conflict, but didn't he look at her like, what? I'm not interested in you.

Somehow, I thought Diablo was having a computer chip implanted! Shades of Reina, I guess.

Duenos

At least now we know that EVERYONE is in the '70's. That first show was a little confusing. Maybe everyone at the hospital ignored the shooting because it'd be too hard to call the cops on those rotary phones. Whose crazy idea was it to put the "9" in 911?

Kelly

Duenos del Paraiso

I'm a first time poster ...

I just want to thank the re-capers ... I am learning Spanish on my own via - Duolingo Program, Telenovelas, Music, etc and I just wanted to say that your recaps help me out greatly!!!!

I watch Mi Corazon es Tuyo and just started this show yesterday. Duenos has me hooked.

Thank You for taking the time to recap these shows. I use them as a confirmation of my comprehension from the tv show.

Dueños
Hi Ben! Welcome! Telenovelas are great for Spanish comprehension. Glad you're here.

I'm really enjoying Dueños too.

Dueños

Thanks a million, Sara, for posting your recap! If you did that from memory, my hat's off to you for getting so much.

Hombre, the recap was Sara's, not mine. I'll do a short one for tonight's. I just don't have the energy to write every little thing.

I was wondering if they WERE going to find the drugs and we'd have a time lapse like La Reina del Sur and we'd get to see Kate del Castillo in prison again.

Thanks, Hombre, for reminding me where we saw "Gina" before. I think maybe her hair wasn't blonde in Los Herederos del Monte. It was driving me crazy where I'd seen her, but didn't have time to look up the actor.

Wow, Hombre, a 'fro and aviator glasses. Hope you have some pictures of yourself that way.

Yeah, that was amazing how quickly the badder guys found Nataniel. I think they must be Colombian because when they were abusing Anastasia I think they used the voseo verb form.

My impression of how quickly our novice cocaine dealers sold out of product was not necessarily how great they are at it. I thought it was meant to show the fascination of the "club scene" people with a new drug.

I get a kick also out of the 70's hair styles and clothing. Adán's sideburns are absolutely grotesque.

Tierra de Reyes

don't know if anyone here is still watching this but I caught most of the epi last night and I didn't get why everyone was so shocked by Veronica's appearance, I mean I get that she's supposed to look like Alma but with her hair up and the makeup and dress differences I didn't really see the resemblance at first (which was confusing)

Cayetana must have been paying an awful lot of attention to someone she only met once to be so shocked as to pass out when she meets her doppleganger.

Dueños
¡Dios mio! the FDA is going to be knocking on all Caray members doors!

Living just north of Miami, I knew about the drug problem but never realized just how bad it was until I saw Cocaine Cowboys.

No drug sniffing dogs at the airport. When they started to try to stop the drug traffic, they were watching drugs moved from sea or air & then south to north. The narcos got smart, brought them in farther north & drove them south. Worked for awhile.
Glad to see you on this one Hombre, you always have great comments.

Los Mis
Tks Deb & Anon for filling me on Ivana.

Tierra:

I'm watching, Sneaky. I haven't seen that capitulo yet. On Pasión de Gavilanes, only the Gallardo/Reyes brothers saw the resemblance between Verónica/Ruth and their dead sister. A couple of other characters said that Verónica/Ruth reminded them of someone but they couldn't place it.

I agree that it doesn't make sense for Cayetana to remember someone she barely acknowledged as a human and only saw for about 5 minutes.

Tierra
Jean
I thought the way they did it on PdG made more sense too, I mean the boys would recognize her and maybe Leonardo since he threatened (and maybe killed?) Alma, but not everyone at the party.
I thought I must have missed something because I haven't been watching regularly, but if you think it's weird too...

A side note New Hat

A new hat? oh goody, I can't wait.

Tierra
I'm recording and watching, but I put it on the back burner. I'm moving it up my list of priorities now. Sounds like good stuff.

Dueños

Sara, thanks so much for the very helpful recap. I can't believe you did it all from memory! Wow!

Deb, when you said you thought Ana's mother was clean, did you mean she wasn't carrying drugs for Nat, as Ana was? I thought I heard Nat ask that both women carry drugs in their suitcases, and in fact that's why he wanted Ana's mother to come, too. It wasn't because he was a considerate son-in-law. And, in fact, at one point Ana's mother asks what happens if the authorities discover the drugs, and Ana says something like "we'll both wind up in prison."

I too wondered how the bad bad guys found Nat & Co. so quickly. I also wondered how Ana got a gun through the airport security.

And novelera, I too wondered whether the airport authorities were going to discover the drugs and we'd have a repeat of the prison scenes from La Reina del Sur (minus Patty). I'm glad that didn't happen.

DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Part 1

Again we see the shooting at the seaside restaurant. Anastasia has recognized the ringleader guy of the ones who raped her in México. She empties her pistol at the boat. Just like in México some guy starts to get Nataniel to safety. Anas snarls at him that he was going to leave her there. He finally grabs her hand and helps her out. The badder guys shoot a rocket launcher or something, causing a huge fire.

Mario Alejandro, the former marijuana and now cocaine distributor was wounded at the restaurant and Adán and Conrado get him out of there. He insists on going home instead of a hospital, and Analia is apparently going to sew him up!

Verónica comes to ask Erica what she was hinting at about not paying attention to what the men do. She tells Erica that she found out Adán was fired. Erica says that you can easily tell that Adán loves her, and she should be happy.

Two policemen are introduced: Saúl, the older of the two, watches as they carry out a crispy victim of what happened at the restaurant. He asks the younger cop, Riquelme, how this could happen. Miami is a quiet city, of family vacations and old people. The younger cop tells him Miami is changing.

Nataniel is not a happy camper. He reams out a security guy [as if he could have prevented the boat drive-by]. Anas tells Nat he must have done something to cause this type of revenge. After she leaves, Gina comes in and tells him that Anas knows! He’s furious. When he finds out she told her sister about their relationship, he says no one was supposed to know. He tells her to shut her mouth and that Anas doesn’t know. He goes on to order her to call him Señor Cardona like the rest of the employees.

Verónica grills Adán about his being fired. Geraldine Buzán is again cast as fairly uptight and a bit of a scold, as she was in Alguien te Mira.

Anas goes on a rampage at the fancy house, breaking things in her bedroom. Irene comes in. She tells her mother that that imbecile will never understand that she loved him like no one else could. He only loves himself and is a pig, she says. Irene counsels Anas not to confront Nat. She says he’s too powerful. She also says the worst thing that can happen to a woman is poverty. Anas should get herself financially secure and then …

Erica and Conrado are making love. Afterwards Erica shows she’s not quite as willing to shine things on as before. She sees a bit of blood on him. Then she shows him the coke packets she found. He tells her they have no choice. They have to sell it.

When Nat asks Anastasia to come in for dinner, she tells him that the guy in the boat was the one who raped her. He tells her she must have imagined it. Then she has a flashback of being a little girl, running through the rain. When her mother lets her it, she whispers something to her, presumably about the molestation and is told she must have imagined it. Great scene for Kate. She tells him she wants his support and that he acknowledge what happened. On her way in to dinner she encounters Renato, who’s just arrived from México and she greets him warmly.

She finds Gina at the dinner table and says that either she leaves or I do. Gina leaves.

DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Part 2

At last we meet Leandro Quezada, who is in General Vélez, Colombia. It’s Miguel Varoni, the Argentine, rocking a Colombian narco accent! He lectures some scared maid about God and about he, Leandro, being a socialist. The main assassin, Ignacio Elizondo, who arranged the assault on the hacienda, shows up to apologize for not having killed Cardona. Quezada gives us some of the back story, lecturing the assassin. He tells the tale of two brothers, one serious and hardworking and the other an artist, an adventurer. They started a business together, but they killed the artistic guy and cut off his head. Elizondo says he’s sorry for what happened to Don Nicanor. He goes on to say that, after the two assaults, Cardona won’t dare try to sell product in Florida. For arguing with the boss, Elizondo gets a gun pointed at the family jewels.

Nat says he’ll sleep in the guest room. Irene starts sticking her oar in about Anas not letting her husband sleep away from her and gets a piece of Anas' mind. She has a drink with Renato and says that she knows she saw the one guy on the boat and recognized him. She wants Renato to get all 3 guys. He’s the only one she trusts. During this conversation we hear some giggling and see Gina nude in the pool with another woman.

Adán and Verónica’s daughter starts school.

Elizondo arrives back at Miami airport with a fake passport. Renato recognizes him.

Adán tells Conrado that he’s not going to continue with the drug sales. He wants to get a legit job.

Erica comes to talk with Adán later. She gets him out of the shower. This time she doesn’t seem seductive, but kind of tentative. She feels dizzy (pregnant?).

Gina tells Nat that she faked the lesbian scene to throw Anas off the scent. He tells her that his wife is no fool and that Gina should disappear. “What about the baby?”, she says. He tells her that baby is not going to be born.

Renato has Anas pick out the 3 guys who raped her from a group of photos. She identifies them readily and tells him either he kills them or she will.

Dueños del Paraiso

thank you so much novelera,
your amazingly simple recaps sure straighten out a lot of kinks for me.

the younger policeman, Mauricio Riquelme, is being played by Ariel Texidó who was the gay servant Rosario 'Ro' Flores in "Marido En Alquiler", really?

and thanks Juanita for clarifying that Ana's mom was also carrying drugs through the airport.

What a place, this! ¡Caray, Caray! WOW!

There is so much happening in these three great telenovas, and you are all covering them so brilliantly, my head is spinning!

Thank you, Variopinta: "I have given up on watching on the Telemundo website, it is too frustrating … "
It really is! I do have better luck on YouTube - but more for older episodes, for catch-up. Have you tried there? It is best if you register, or use google registration i THINK, then subscribe to the channels that show the tn. For Los Mis, I subscribe to the Los Miserables, Novela Emocionante, Telemundo Telenovas (some have Dueños, and others, too) channels. Put what you're looking for in the search field. The big problem with those is that the capitulo numbering is off. If you put one (like second to latest) capitulo on, it offers the following one at the end of each, though. Takes a bit of figuring out, but once done, it works well. More delay than on Telemundo site. For the most recent capitulo, Telemundo usually has it within hours after showing. Usually, not always, as last two nights.

and:
"It [Telenovela website] was perfect in the beginning, what on earth have they done to f it up?" I know! I wonder that EVERY TIME i try! I do think someone is trying to fix it, and sometimes it ALMOST works well, but it is still awful.

Definitely is not YOU! Well, I can't really say it's not both of us doing stupid lol. Nah nah nah.

Tierra

I had stopped watching, except kind of lightly as the only tn playing in a time slot i can watch every episode on tv (I do get to watch Dueños on tv some middle-of-the-nights, and Los Mis on tv two evenings a week). I'd lost interest in Tierra because it endlessly showed the boys and girls flirting and seducing and gaming. And poor Patricia seems to me like what we have come to think of (callously, ah?) as collateral damage; I love Daniela Navarro, and love seeing how gifted she is, but I just do not understand how her heartbreaking story is necessary to the show (would if i watched, i imagine).

Then, all of a sudden, it picks up intrigue, I read some fascinating comments here, and I am kind of sorry I did not pay more attention. Some day I will watch it again.

Dueños

Thank you Sara, for your excellent memory, great recap! Thank you, too, for your great recaps, novelera! Thank you, Mauricio, Juanita, for adding to those!

It will take me a while to get the many characters figured out, but much faster with all your great comments!

continue ... (how, btw, do I know number of characters? I seem to have gone over a limit)

continue ... (forgot to sign above, sorry)

Los Mis

THIS is my show. I am loving it! And that could only happen because all of you tell me the mass of the story I can't get to watch!

Thank you, deb, for so much more information!

and, deb: "love your recaps lxv,
they are better than the show!" Yes! I agree, absolutely!!

"kind of smart of Olegario to have watched Rafael and Lucha on secret cameras all this time to prepare." True! Something that bugged (lol, pun NOT intended) me about that, though: Wouldn't one expect that, or at least that it was possible, enough to whisper much more? I mean, sometimes I thought, Don't they even worry that someone might be out in the hall hearing them? Also, what did you make of them showing the record light in the screen corner when Oleg was in the room? Maybe hinting that all those recordings might eventually end up as evidence somehow?

and: " … loved our misfit tag team at home, all in hoodies … " Precious!

"I'm loving how Abel and Adriana are still best buddies … " I love it too. I just finally got to that. It was sweet and sad, and funny, when they were sitting on the bed, kind of laugh-crying about not being a "normal" couple. Adriana: "How did we come to this?!"

Thank you, lxv, such excellent recaps! You make it possible for me to understand and follow! Thank you too, for your kind and thought-provoking words.

"As we have seen, so many telenovelas thrive on deception as a central plot device. This is the first one I've seen that deals with telling the truth as a liberating, creative act." Yes! I think that is exactly why it FELT so liberating to watch. It was new, and answered much, long frustration with that constant deception in every tn. As you say, "The acting & the writing are a cut above the usual."
btw, we are fortunate you tuned in!

and, about Ivana: " … I'm guessing there's some pretty strenuous engineering going on under that fabric keeping the whole thing front & center … " LOL

Great "from memory"!

"Poor Adri, she picked the wrong night … " Yes, sad! I found that frustrating, too, especially when she told Abel something like Radriguez "is already in love with someone else." As if she expected him never to date anyone again. Without even checking with him if he might be pining for her - which he is. Sigh. Practice that honesty with him, Adri!

and: "(Are we in ultimos capitulos yet?, sure feels like it, but no hint from Telemundo as far as I know)"
and "I really don't want this novela to end, but where the heck can they go from here. Seems as though final battles are about to begin."
Yes! I am thinking just the same. No promo's for a new, next tn, but where can they take this one on to? Is this when we are about to see the part where Lucha is on the run, pursued by the obsessed cop, Daniel?

AnonGringa: "At this point I'm hoping for Rafael and Lucha to be together in the end. Daniel has turned out to be a huge disappointment." I agree about Daniel! I never thought of Rafael as a possiblity, but now that you mention it, that would be nice. Unless we find out otherwise (just never know till the end), he certainly seems sincere, generous and kind, and in love with Lucia. And would be a way for the Great Gabriel Porras to end up with the protagonist without her having to end up with Olegario!

¡Muchas gracias a todos!

Dueños
Thank you, Novelera! I'm going to watch tonight, but your recap will really help with my comprehension.

As for my memory-I had just finished watching the episode so it was still very fresh in my mind.

Dueños del Paraíso

Forced myself to watch the next two episodes. I'm out.

I'm really shocked at how bad this is. Boring, lethargic acting and direction; horrible, dead sound with no ambience added to the soundtrack at all. The sets are just as poorly lit as all the other recent Miami novelas I've seen from Telemundo. The whole universe is noticeably underpopulated - I'm guessing Telemundo didn't want to pay to costume extras in the period attire. Streets and parking lots are deserted - I guess because Telemundo also didn't want to bother renting period appropriate cars. It's like Miami is a ghost town. This was billed as a "Super Production," yet none of the money is on the screen. (I'm guessing it mostly went into Kate del Castillo's pockets.)

The moral incongruities Telemundo peddles in these narco-novelas really boggles my mind. The drug capo isn't a "bad guy" because he massacres countless innocent people, but because he (gasp) cheats on his wife.

I hate Kate Del Castillo's character, a woman who lives a life of luxury built on the blood of innocent people will never have an iota of my sympathy. If the complacent wife of a mass-murdering dictator, for example, was blown up with her husband, am I really expected to shed a tear? (Kate is also starting to look like a waxwork of herself - she is too botoxed up and Telemundo's make-up people are doing her no favors.)

I guess La Reina del Sur was a one-off. It was so much better than this show, you'd think they came from different networks. I'm guessing that's because Reina was made by top professionals in Colombia and Duenos is made by Telemundo's non-union Miami bumblers. (Funnily enough, the promos for the show, some footage of which is used in the opening credits, are of vastly superior quality to the actual show making me suspect that Telemundo actually uses union professionals for the promos, but cheaps out on the actual episodes.)

What separates Reina most though was it was based on a book by a real writer - Arturo Perez-Reverte, as opposed to the original trash churned out by Telemundo's hacks.

Dueños

Thanks so much Novelera!

I was shocked by what Gina did to throw Anastasia off her trail. I was NOT expecting it at all. It was a smart move but unfortunately for her it doesn't look like Anastasia fell for it.

I wonder how Alejo got wounded. Was he shot? Was it due to the explosion?

It was nice seeing Connie from Reina De Corazones again. It looks like she won't be rambling on and on like she did on Reina.

I loved Miguel Varoni's Colombian accent.

Ummm Adan...put that shirt back on!

Erica seems to have the hots for him. I saw her turning around a little trying to sneak a peek at him with a towel.

I'm really enjoying this one. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Duenos
Big numbers for the premiere:

http://masquetelenovelas.blogspot.com/2015/01/estreno-de-duenos-del-paraiso-logra.html#more

Duenos

Thanks, Novelera, another stellar job! And thanks Sara for the one from the night before, which I accidentally thought Novelera did.

About the suitcases in the airport. Nat said it was 50 kilos of coke. That's 110 pounds! So of course it had to be spread out among all the suitcases carried by Anas and Irene, and they were heavy. As for Anss' gun, maybe they didn't even have metal detectors for everyone back then, just guards looking for suspicious people.

I also enjoyed seeing the actor who played a gay guy now playing a cop (Mauricio). He also played a tough druglord in a previous novela. He can really change.

Adan and Vero's daughter is Luciana.

I'm also enjoying the accents. I think the two cops sound Cuban or Puerto Rican, but I could be wrong. Is Conrado Colombian? Of course, the Mexican ones, such as Anas and Nat, are the easiest for me. And yes, the actress who played Connie on Reina de Corazones is going to be quite different, now as the wife of the big drug lord. I think she's Amelia. So now we have Anastasia, Analia, Amelia. AAAAAAA!

Dueños
Conrado es chileno.

Thank you to everyone for the excellent comments and
recaps. I'm so pleased to see that activity has picked up
on these three novelas which greatly enhances my
enjoyment of them. Aficionada, I'm happy that you sort of agree with me about Rafael. I'm a sucker for the sweet
type. Here's hoping that through a telenovela miracle he
made it through the fire last night. Deb, it was fun to
hear about the actor who played Ro being in Duenas.
It didn't register with me at all. I'll be watching out for
him from now on. AnonGringa

Dueños

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

I also thought the two cops, especially the older one, sounded like Miami Cubans. The non-pronunciation of the ends of words is typically Caribbean. They could be Puerto Ricans, but in Miami Cuban sounds more likely. I liked their interchange and hope we get some cops that aren't idiots and/or obsessives. Saúl immediately had a good idea, checking the list of reservations to see if they could identify the target of the attack. But his partner reminded him that the front of the place was pretty well burned up.

Uff uff uff, thank you so much for the recaps. I enjoy them immensely. I had stopped watching Los Miz due my extreme hate of a Dan but I am back( si, I still hate him)
Duenos: I love Kate, mi reina and I watching because of her and Miguel V. Nothing can come close to Reina as far as production, locale, acting and story telling but I am in for now.
Tierra: I am watching. Yes, I hate the hat and that sneer. What is Aaron's problem with that face, uff uff
Romy

DUEÑOS

Just finished Thurs episode ... I have to watch this show on Tele's website the following day because my cable provider doesn't offer this station.

Wonderful recap on this episode. Thank You.

WOW!!! That swimming pool scene .... Didn't see that one coming.

Leandro looks like he is going to be a fun villian. I only saw his daughter briefly but she looked like a latino "Hermione Granger"

I liked the scene with Adán and Verónica’s daughter starting school. It felt genuine to me.

I also love the sets on this show. They are so lavish. Nat's house looks amazing.

Can't wait for the next episode.

Dueños

Welcome, Ben! I haven't seen you here before, but I only watch Telemundo's offerings and maybe you comment on the Univisión area of Caray, Caray.

I agree about the scene with Verónica getting her daughter ready for school and then taking her there. Every parent who's moved during their child's school years has been through this -- worrying about uprooting them and hoping they'll find new friends.

The swimming pool scene did seem to come from left field. But, after a bit of reflection, I assumed she'd arranged it to fool Anastasia. The kind of funny thing is that, although I really like the actor, Nataniel Cardona doesn't seem like such a babe magnet that two beautiful women are crazy about him.

DUEÑOS

Novelera and Sara, thanks for the recap -- very helpful.

I try to avoid narco TNs but had to check this out because La Reina del Sur with Kate was fantastic. The first night, I didn't like Dueños -- way too violent and Anastasia didn't seem upset about all her birthday party guests winding up massacred, though granted she was busy running for her life.

The next night I was shocked to see the closing credits come up so soon. I guess this means I got engrossed in the story. Sorry to see Modesto go down. I was all ready for her to be Anastasia’s confidant in crime, but I guess that role goes to her mother.

TIERRA

I'm still watching, too, although I'm a feu episodes behind. So far I'm at the place where Veronica shows up, Cayetana faints and everyone else gossips on the subject.
I found it funny to analyze who knows what about Vero /Alma right now :

Sofia, Andreea, Irina - they spoted the resamblance between the two

Arturo, Samuel, Flavio -they spotted the resamblance, this will probably make them stay at the ranch indefinitely

Leonardo -he saw the resamblance, maybe his dreams will start to get hunted by Alma

Cayetana - she spotted the resamblance, she knows about Vero 's true origins

Soledad- she is the only one who knows everything, including that Vero is the boys' half sister.

Things are about to get interesting. If only Leonardito could drop dead already! !

LOS MIS Thurs Jan 15th Parte uno

A heartwarming family reunion for Lucha & the kids, with Carlos & Deyanir and Abel who effected her safe return, Mom & Dad and then Chelo & Ramon. They worry about Iggy getting worked up over this. And he says “Happiness can’t kill you.”

In private, Lucha unloads on her papa the whole sad story. “I just want to know if that Marrero fellow DID anything to you” he asks protectively. “Naw, he’s just a crazy sicko and he’s in love with me.” Dad wants to know if Lucia will try to escape. “No,” she says “because I’ve done nothing wrong.” “But they got you last time & put you away for 12 years.” This is different she explains, she has 2 kids to care for now.

Diablo calls & threatens Dan who is fooling around with Marina. Back at the big abandoned industrial building on the outskirts of town, The B team (Evaristo & Leon) get the call to duty from el jefe. Pablo, about to take Ivana on a date receives his call and has to blow her off for the evening.

Carlos escorts Deya home. She’s distant & lukewarm. When he moves in for a kiss, she sets him straight and sends him packing. Patan, I believe is the word she used. Which is pretty mild for what I think she’s feeling.

The next part of this hour is filled with scenes at the big abandoned industrial building on the outskirts of town, of 1) Lily & Genaro arguing about everything & nothing: who’s boss, when they should pull the trigger, 2) Diablo & crew watching the arrival of Dan’s guys and then playing cat & mouse with them all around the building. 3) The hapless Rafael , apparently dead or close to it, all dressed up in Marrero’s clothing and tied to a sofa somewhere in the bowels of the building

For some reason, Marina (the shrink) has accompanied Dan, who had the good sense to issue her a bulletproof vest. She just looks clueless in the midst of all this action. It becomes clear that the place is rigged with explosives and that Genaro holds the detonator.

Henchmen come out of the building to Dan’s car and fisticuffs ensue. He puts them down in a trice and Lily, from their observation hideout, doesn’t lose this opportunity to crow about Dan’s machismo to the increasingly impatient Genaro. The girlfriend/shrink sits in the car agog & aghast.

LOS MIZ parte dos

Casa Duran—Fernanda is nice to the kids, reading them a story. Memin even cosies up and she gets used to the idea. Roxi does seem a little tongue-tied with her still, though. They fall asleep during the story on the couch. Vicky & Octavio arrive. He’s pretty frosty about Roxana being there. Vicky hustles him out of the house. He threatens to call the cops. Lucha tells Vicky not to let her be a cause of discord between Vick & Octavio for their baby’s sake.

Back at the big abandoned industrial building on the outskirts of town, the rest of the cop team arrives. Radames calls Lil & Gen. She tells him to stuff it. Gen wants to push the plunger. Lily grabs the device from him. More cat’n’mouse. Somewhere else in the bowels of the building, hOleg taunts Dan into a face down. He throws down his gun. Dan follows suit. This is gonna be mano à mano. Marrero gets the upper hand leaving Dan out cold on the ground. Pablo finds him. Some goons have thrown gasoline on the body of twin bro Rafa.

Casa Duran—Fernanda & Lucha make nice. Vicky then tells Lucia that Octavio knows.

Casa Echeverria—Ivana grips to Elena about being stood up, but what a stud is that Pablo, huh?. She’s barking up the wrong tree here, being obviously provocative. Elena is less than sympathetic and accuses her of vulgarity, to which the witch protests that she’s just hot-blooded and free and not afraid to express her feelings. And that Elena shouldn’t walk around with such a halo of sanctity. Methinks Ivana has been hitting that decanter on the sideboard a bit much.

Back at the big abandoned industrial building on the outskirts of town, Diablo’s crew mount up (the henchman assures D that the substitute brother is dressed up exactly like him - a dead ringer. Diablo rips off the fake Mephisto mustache & beard he had been wearing to look like himself after his stint as looking like his twin. Speaking of whom poor Rafa stumbles around the big abandoned industrial building on the outskirts of town screaming for help. The B teams meets up with Dan in time to tell him that the place is loaded with explosives, and, as if on cue, they explode, covering everybody in clouds of black dust. Genaro moves in for a little celebratory action, but Liliana pushes him away. Everybody thinks Diablo has perished in the blast. Gen gives Rad the news that El Diablo is “completamente muerto.

The cops (to their credit) wonder how Diablo could have perished in his own trap.. Dan orders complete forensics on the Marrero. He wants to be sure—it appears the report confirms this. Too bad, I was hoping poor Rafa would make it out alive.

LOS MIZ parte tres

Casa Echeverria— (the catfight continues) Elena tells Ivana that Pablo doesn’t like strident, low-class gals like her. Ivana spits back, “What’s with your face, anyway? All pale & tired like that?” Rad steps in saying that Ivana looks prettier than ever. (Why on earth is he fondling his belt buckle like that? EWWW!)They all agree Elena is a beautiful woman, mature, maybe. Elena says she’s just not into plastic surgery and enhancements like some people present. At which point, Octavio steps in (whew!) he’s pretty anti-social. Rad wants a nice family get-together. He just wants to go to bed. Rad mumbles that kid is no good, just like Deborah.

So now Lily has cleaned all the black dust off and she’s in the Duran kitchen drunk as a skunk and swigging hooch, hollering “is anybody home? where is everybody” Roxi, tries to duck away and escape, but too late, Lil fixes her penetrating stare on the poor esquincla. “You!, I thought I’d seen the last of you.” Roxi escapes into her mother’s arms; Poor thing, all she can get out is: “La bruja”. So now, Lily threatens Lucia who starts to get tough (well, those 12 years of prison weren’t for nothing) She wants to know what she did to get Roxi so upset. Lily blows it off, “what do you expect, she’s a good for nothing street brat” Lucha warns that the girl has started talking and if she finds out what went on, well….Lots more teasing & taunting of the most odious sort ends up with Lucha threatening Lilian with death if she causes any harm to her child.

Elena shows up at Pablo’s door while he is full beefcake mode, straight from the shower wearing nothing but a towel and his tattoos. She requests, in her demure, self-effacing way, that he not associate with Ivana. He gets testy and wants to know why. She gives him the answer he’s been waiting for. They kiss passionately.

So, now, we see the Marrero gang is a big black SUV (what else) stop for take-out on their way out of town, to another hiding place, wherever. They catch a news broadcast which announces the confirmation of El Diablo’s death. Smirks and high signs all around.

Back to Casa Duran where we close up this episode. The sisters are still going at it in the kitchen. It doesn’t get more nasty than this. Lily starts calling the police. At which point Fernanda steps into the kitchen and grabs the cell phone from Lily’s hand. She breaks up the fight and tells Liliana in no uncertain terms to leave Lucia alone. OK, that’s’ it folks, just in time for tonights. I’m having trouble keeping up. I’ll try to do one for tonight over the weekend. Next week is a bit tight for me, so if someone else wants to hone their writing skills, I wouldn’t mind in the least. Looking forward to tonight’s epi.

Tierra de Reyes

I missed a lot because I was trying to get caught up w/ other things and I wasn't going to start watching again, I was going to watch La Bruja over on UniMas where it started this week but there's a character that mumbles and always has a toothpick in his mouth and it drove me away to the Tierra (they're on at the same time) If I thought that character was going to die soon I might hang in but it looks like he's going to be there for a while so I'm out.
The point of all this is that I'll probably be spending some time en la Tierra and I just made a resolution to comment more since I've been coming here for so long and enjoying and offering little to nothing in return.

So, about last night (Jueves)
I loved the poesy of the conversation between Samuel and Andrea about love and I'm going to try to translate here (not verbatim)
S:'Why can't you let them be happy in their love?... You know love is like a balloon filled with air, the more you try to sink it the more force you give it to lift itself up. Haven't you ever been in love?'

and later Andrea alone admitting she's enamorada 'My love is not a balloon, my love is like rocks pulling me down... my love is like concrete sinking me to the very bottom...my heart is a stone!

Heartbreaking stuff, and I like her so much better than her PdeG counterpart.

Tierra

I almost forgot I thought it was hilarious when Aaron's character(his name momentarily eludes me) puts his hat on to answer the door. Last night he hardly looked like he smelled something bad at all.

Also, do we think there is a cosmic connection between Alma's picture falling down mysteriously and hiding all the pictures of Alma before Sophia comes over to smell the food (maybe that's all her diet allows) and spend a night of not quite uninterrupted love?

Dueños
Wanted to see the 1st 15 that I missed last night, so tuned in at 1am & and caught the end of Tierra, & what did I see, you guessed it, Arturo, still in his f--ing hat.

Dueños

Muchas gracias, novelera, for another very helpful recap. I'm especially grateful for your account of the scene in Colombia between Leandro Quezada and Ignacio Elizondo. I understood very little of what they said, though I did understand the meaning of Leandro's pointing his pistol :-) .

I'm not wild about this novela. I agree with some of RG's comments, especially his saying that one of the main things that separates La Reina del Sur from this narco novela is that LRDS was based on a real novel by a very talented novelist. Indeed, the novelist, Arturo Perez-Reverte, had a hand in the creation of the telenovela. [Uh oh, I feel a rant coming on about how much better LRDS was than just about any other telenovela. The plot was more complex, the characters were more complex and more interesting, the scenes were more convincing, and the actors were first rate. Not just first rate for a novela, but first rate, period. OK, rant over. Lo siento. Perdóname.]

Even though I find Dueños rather cheesy, I'm enjoying it enough to continue to watch. And so, once again, thanks very much to the recappers and the commenters. I doubt I'd be able to manage without you.

Is there a chance that Rafa could still be alive, and it's just a trick by Daniel to put El Diablo off guard? I've
seen it happen before. The only problem is that frlom what I canunderstand, Daniel just found out about Rafa. I just don't want to give up yet.

Lxv, thank you for the recap. I would never know some
things without your input.

AnonGringa

LOS MIZ
AnonGringa:
those are my exact thoughts and until proven otherwise I'm hoping for the resurrection of Rafa. That said, they say they have a body, and the cop who handed the forensics report to Dan would've had no reason to lie to him. My heart sank when he handed Dan the papers saying "this confirms your suspicion"

I'm furious that Dan is starting to moon over Lucia again with longing looks. HE DOES NOT DESERVE HER! please pardon my shouting. Nothing can make me forgive what he has done to ruin this woman's life. Especially now that the other harpies are clamoring for his attention. She looks like a saint and no amount of remorse can undo his maltreatment. If she takes him back, I'll send her to the shrink and not one of the telenovela quacks either.

Of course, as has been mentioned before, there's still the safety of the children angle and he could save them from the Devil and she'd forgive him. But it's going to take a lot to convince me.

the Miserables

loved Lily's house arrest, and leave that gag in, maybe everyone should beat her with a frying pan or something, before she leaves.

and what happened to Abel, wasn't he ready to spill the beans to papa when Lucia showed up?

and how did Ivana end up at Pablo's place in her undies, I'm thinking Pablo wasn't even there.

and our Siamese twins, Marisela and Evaristo, can't seem to do anything anymore without the other in arms reach.

was there some fire in Lucha's eyes when she met Danny's new girl friend.

loving Olegario the lawyer, I guess I shouldn't since he is the bad guy.

Dueños del paraíso

Letra de la canción Dueños del paraíso

aquí me ves
transando otra vez
muy dura es esta vida
sangrando por la herida
y la traición sin compasión
this its my flow
destino clandestino
puso piedra en mi camino

y ahora estoy
luchando otra vez
con erre de ——
suena pinche mi venganza
quiero decir que al fin sabre vivir
pegando de primera
he ganado mis peleas
y ya lo se el mundo esta al revés
brindando con tequila
duelen menos las heridas

tengo valor no tengo piedad
soy mal nacida como el prejuicio
a hierro tequila y sangre
seremos dueños del paraíso
a hierro tequila y sangre
seremos dueños del paraíso

el negocio es a la calle
tu lo puedes ver
el mas fuerte sobrevive
y se come al pez
es a punta de pistola
que esta fuera de la ley
tu palabra vale oro
tu lo sabes wey

tengo valor no tengo piedad
soy mal nacida como el prejuicio
a hierro tequila y sangre
seremos dueños del paraíso

tengo valor no tengo piedad
soy mal nacida como el prejuicio
a hierro tequila y sangre
seremos dueños del paraíso
a hierro tequila y sangre
seremos dueños del paraíso
seremos dueños del paraíso

LOS MIS Friday night Jan 16th (from memory)

Parte Uno
Fernanda tries to referee the horrible altercation that her previously precious daughter Liliana has instigated. Lil is really hurting’ these days. Things haven’t turned out quite as she thought they would and she’s loaded for bear. And she’s got Lucha in her sights. But Fernanda defends Lucha. Lil sheds defiant tears, hurling her odium at Mom ’n’ Dad and everybody else as she slams her way out the door. Fernanda appears genuinely heartbroken. Lucia begs them to take care of her kids because of what she has to do.

Daddy tries to dissuade her, but Lucia is determined to turn herself in, with her lawyer present. She wants justice, every bit as much as that creep who’s been torturing her all this time. (Sorry for the editorializing, but I’m just so worked up about Daniel’s pig-headed cruelty.) And speaking of pig-headed, Octavio is already headed over to the station house to rat out Lucia’s whereabouts. Dan gives him an avuncular pat on the shoulder. “Thanks kid, you did the right thing coming here.”

Elena has put the brakes on her hot’n’heavy with Pablo because she just can’t abandon Radames now, he’s fragile (I love how she says “fragil” with those enormous bee-stung lips and those lost doe eyes, what a character!) Pablo says, well, honey you can’t have it both ways. It’s me or him. So she goes back to him. The two new girls (shrink Marina & niece Ivana) are having a rather unattractive gab fest about the new men in their lives. Marina is getting her rocks off (pardon me, but I find her pretty crude) describing her closeup eyewitness of Dan the Man in real police action. “You had no idea, how thrilling…”, she gushes to the strident and vulgar Ivana. Marina, unaware of the brewing storm, heads over to the police station to fawn over her new superhero.

Lucia presents herself at the police station accompanied by her lawyer (Camilla, I think?). Pablo tries to deflect Dan’s aggression. By rights she should be surrendering to the regular police, not to Dan’s narcotics outfit. Dan pulls rank, oversteps or in some way elbows into the situation. But Pablo says, “You can’t interrogate her; it would be a conflict because you have a personal interest. (Hmm, didn’t stop him before from brutalizing her in the interrogation room). Lucia is all composure and dignity. Pablo escorts her in to take her statement. She’s aware that Dan is behind the glass observing. She tells all about Diablo and the twin brother, calmly and with supporting facts & new information. She just tells it like it is and Pablo treats her decently. Dan steps in and remarkably the situation doesn’t escalate. Trouble comes when they have to turn her over to the proper jurisdiction and that guy (having previously been stung by Dan’s high-handedness) is inclined to rough Lucia up a bit. Dan actually comes to her defense.

LOS MIZ parte dos
\That station house is a busy place because now Lily, trying to conceal all the glycerin tears behind her tinted glasses has busted in demanding to see Captain Ponce. She has something REALLY important to tell him. That gal is a piece of work. She starts to blab that she KNOWS where Lucia is being hidden, by her family, when, she gets the wind knocked out to her sails by 1) the fact that Lucia has turned herself in already; and 2) Dan’s new girlfriend is at the desk asking for him. I’m not going to comment on the meaningful glances between Dan & Lucy because I am in complete denial about the fact they may actually get back together, but alas, it may be true. Aracely Arambula does that deep, meaningful sadness, with a rueful cast, so well, especially since they’ve given her really nice makeup now that she’s no longer a desperate fugitive. She comports herself with utter decorum & dignity while the witches swirl about. After she is taken out into custody, Lil, upon discovering the existence of Marina, storms out. Marina comments to Dan that if she had to pick which of those two could be capable of homicide, it would certainly be Liliana and not Lucia. (Of course, this is a professional opinion, not a snap judgement). More fodder for Dan’s pig-headed pea brain.

While the cops are busy checking out Lucia’s version of this twin brother, this Rafael Montes character, El Diablo is busy checking out the sneaky videos he took of said Montes interacting with Lucia and the kids. He’s going to get his performance down perfect. He’s made his way back to the abandoned house, found everyone had flown the coop and now he’s really on a tear. He goes through the closets to get out Rafa’s nice suits. He’ll dress the same, shave the same: He’ll get his Santa back! (I’m starting to fear for the kids, big time. I don’t see Ignacio as much of a protector, Fernanda maybe.)

Memin & Roxi are horsing around with their toys. Memin gets the brilliant idea of letting that stuffed animal ride on his toy helicopter. Of course this is ridiculous because the peluche is twice as big as the helicopter and so, naturally it comes crashing to the ground, and guess what falls out of it? About time, don’t you think. Super Memin picks up the long-lost flash drive and speculates that it contains fabulous information about scientific discoveries or some other fantastical idea and they are going to safeguard their secret. Hoo-boy. (Actually folks, this is where I get hazy on the story because I never saw the beginning of this novela. You all are going to have to clue me in about what’s actually on that drive. I’m assuming it incriminates the bad guys and exonerates our heroine, but I honestly don’t know).

And completely apropos of nothing (unless I missed something), Elena stops by Pablo’s house. Well, guess who opens the door, none other than Ivana modeling her best Victoria’s Secret getup.

This is where they leave us. (Well, there was one more scene, but I think it might have been a preview and I don’t want to break the rules over here.)

So now, this is probably all out of sequence and missing pieces, but it’s the best I can muster for now. Enjoy! And feel free to fill in the blanks.

¡Muy muchas gracias, ALL! I am seeing these telenovelas almost entirely through all of you! - Dueños, it is entirely. And, to my amazement, it works! I will catch up this weekend, but thanks to GREAT recaps, I have virtually seen all three. Compliments. That is quite something.

AnonGringa: "I'm happy that you sort of agree with me about Rafael. I'm a sucker for the sweet type. Here's hoping that through a telenovela miracle he made it through the fire last night." I misstated. I don't "sort of agree with" you, I totally agree with you. I got a thing for "the sweet type" myself. I would be thrilled for Lucha and Rafael to end up together!

Last night, I couldn't imagine HOW Rafael could still be alive, then I realized Oleg had planned to not only take Rafa's place, but also to put Rafa in HIS place - later seemingly dead.

"Is there a chance that Rafa could still be alive, and it's just a trick by Daniel to put El Diablo off guard? I've seen it happen before. The only problem is that from what I can understand, Daniel just found out about Rafa. I just don't want to give up yet."

I also did not give up hope - until, as you, lxv, wrote: "That said, they say they have a body, and the cop who handed the forensics report to Dan would've had no reason to lie to him. My heart sank when he handed Dan the papers saying 'this confirms your suspicion.' "

So, Daniel definitely SEEMED to be reading autopsy results. But could it have NOT been an AUTOPSY report? Maybe blood tests from a hospital burn ward?

As you say, lxv, " … until proven otherwise I'm hoping for the resurrection of Rafa." After all, in tn's, if we do not actually SEE a person die, anything can happen!
So, I shall remain hopeful with you both!

Well, being my usual capitulo behind, that hope may already have been dashed. Sigh. And you both would already know that now, wouldn't you?
OKay, looking forward to knowing more, either way.

Always with you on this, too, lxv: "I'm furious that Dan is starting to moon over Lucia again with longing looks. HE DOES NOT DESERVE HER!" You shout for me, too!

But this, too: "Of course, as has been mentioned before, there's still the safety of the children angle and he could save them from the Devil and she'd forgive him. But it's going to take a lot to convince me." Yes, me too!

lxv:
I was pretty stunned to see Daniel take his (ex?)shrink to a sure shootout. I actually shouted out "What The F---?!"

patan, LOL. Yes, "pretty mild for what I think [Deyanira] she’s feeling." But it really does suit him, doesn't it? He has been a - what, a bumpkin? - patan from the start. Though she probably leaned more towards lout … or stronger.

lxv: "I’m having trouble keeping up." I am having trouble keeping up with just commenting on your outstanding, fabulous, FUN recaps, not even to mention the shows, and other comments, lxv!! You amaze me!
"Next week is a bit tight for me, so if someone else wants to hone their writing skills, I wouldn’t mind in the least." I will try my best to keep commenting, and maybe even something approaching junior recapping. Many are doing that now, too, so it should cover much. Take care of you, most important of all. You are deeply appreciated.

My oh my, in the time I have been commenting from last night, on your incredibly great recaps, lxv, you have already recapped last night's episode, too!
Thank you so much!! You amaze me! And inspire me!

Just skimmed your new recap, one thing:
The flash memoria shows Liliana's first murder. It shows brutal torture of - was it Michael?? - the informant, Lily and Genaro watching, Oleg insisting Lily prove her Diabla-ness by … I think it was by - cutting the informant's tongue out (anyone remember better?), when she freaks out, pulls someone's gun from his belt, draws aim first at Oleg, then turns and, basically, shoots - BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! - the battered-to-pieces informant dead. It might be argued that her first murder was really a freaked out, panicked, terrified mercy-killing, but then, Oleg praises her, and she shows she is liking it. She gets better at it, from there.

I am sure they are about to show it again - hopefully not when Memin goes to check out what delights the flash drive holds in store for him. We have all been wating for that memoria to re-surface! Thank you!

Most fine weekend to you!

the Miserables

wow, lxv,
I just love your recaps, they are so cool.

I don't watch the previews, so the show ended when Olegario, posing as lawyer Rafael with briefcase and shiny white teeth, swings by to see Comandante Ponce, (Gabriel Porras is so fun to watch), and I'm hoping the Comandante has a relapse and needs more therapy.

ah yes the flash drive, let's see, Genaro I think had turned allowing Olegario to grab some guy Ponce was hiding that was going to testify against him, but another police guy, that Ponce and him faked a falling out was working at Radamés' hotel, got wind of this and planted a camera, and wow, they really tortured this guy as Olegario was breaking in his newbies, Genero and Lily, and Lily having a hard time with this, grabbed a gun and shot the guy dead, multiple times, and while they were cleaning things up, Olegario spots the camera, and so that guy eventually got the same fate but first he gave a copy (the flashdrive) of the video to César, a congressman and Ponce's brother, which the bad guys finally tracked down, especially Lily that knows it shows her killing that guy, and so Lily shoots him and Genaro finishes the job, the killing Lucia was convicted for.

Thank you so much deb! I love the opening song, but it all goes by so fast I can barely catch a word.

LOS MIZ Thanks deb for clarifying and describing that final scene. I hesitated because I've had my wrist slapped here for infractions and I didn't want to offend. It's different over in the Uni sector, they include anything you see that night. Telemundo unfortunately gives us previews at every ad break now, so the sequence is all mashed up and I never remember what scene happened when.

The other scene I realize I neglected to describe (thanks for reminding me) was at the beginning when Liliana, already out of control in her rage at Lucia, and escalating, was bound and gagged by family members. I don't think they meant to abuse her so much as restrain her for her own and their own safety, particularly Lucia's. In her mind though, perhaps it was reminiscent of the plight of her first victim so she struggled like a maniac. How did she get to be so completely insane? The rest of them are fairly placid, upstanding, fun-loving folks, maybe with a bit of a gloomy streak, but not pathological. Was it Fernanda's selfishness in her earlier life. Was it insane jealousy Lucia or insane greed for material wealth & power?

Dueños

Many thanks, deb, for the words to the opening song. I was somewhat heartened to read that Sara, too, found it hard to understand. Unlike Sara, I'm not liking the song much at the moment, though I sometimes find that I become more enthusiastic as I listen more. I'm hoping that will happen this time; having the words is a definite help.

DUENOS:

Not a recap, but some things I remember:

Luciana's first day in school doesn't go too well. She didn't make any friends, and some cool girls pushed her.

Vero is increasingly suspicious of Adan, both his proximity to Erica (who does seem to like his towel-adorned body) and his elusiveness about work. Adan goes to a restaurant to work, but they'd only pay 50 cents an hour for dishwasher, not enough. He needs $10,000 for his Mom's operation.

And Conrado gives him all $10,000 in cash! But Adan still won't accept it, even as a loan, even though we also saw Vero ask Conrado and Erica for a loan.

Alejandro gets Conrado and Adan to go to Nat's house. Nat says I have 50 kilos to sell. Adan just can't bring himself to say yes. Nat says you have til tonight, I'm having a party to honor my wife. Adan doesn't want to go, but Conrado talks him into it. Alejandro tells the guys they can earn $2000 per kilo, that means $100,000! (My vague memories of street prices for coke back then were something like 50/gram, which would be $50,000 a kilo, so the big guys are still making tons of money, but $100,000 is a fortune to Adan).

The cops question Nat and Anas, who tell them nada.

Anas wants Renato to kill the three guys who raped her, and I think Renato does have two of them killed, with Anas watching, but Ignacio (the main one) is still alive.

Anas catches Irene eavesdropping, and tells her she's kicked out of the house. Renato is going to enforce this. But Irene guesses that Gina is pregnant, says you can trust me, Gina confirms it. Irene immediately blabs it to Anas.

Nat is quite insistent that Gina have an abortion. Gina says no, but at the reception (where Adan still doesn't want to stay, but Conrado says just 10 minutes), Gina's totally drunk and wants to do coke. Nat and she are arguing in the bathroom, and Anas comes in, unnoticed, hears their conversation, and takes out her GUN!

Deb, I don't think Pablo was there either. As I recall,
in the very next scene they showed him at the police
station interrogating Lucha. I thought Ivana was
scheming even before that however.

LXV, thank you for ANOTHER fine recap. There's been
an abundance of riches lately. When do you sleep?

thanks so much Hombre!

hmm, I was thinking maybe Luciana did have a good first day at school, because she met Chad.

thanks so much for breaking down the coke prices.

wow, when the cops drop in on Nat, I'm thinking Ana is pretty clean because she was wearing the wig but then Nat says my wife was with me, she'll tell you what happened, and then gets up and walks away, if looks could kill.

I can't imagine a worse mom than Irene, she was freaking out at the thought of going back because of that guy she killed, and when she was cuddling up to Gina I thought she was working on another place to stay, but then she runs back to Ana, she knows where the money is.

I'm thinking Ana was always a tough cookie, and since she had that verbal prenup that Nat's business wouldn't spill over into her life, she knew the score, but him running off when things got tough well that sort of changed things, and I know Renato favors Ana, but bottom line, who does he really work for and why is Nat ok with him hanging around with her.

Adán sure is an interesting guy to follow around, he is so doomed.

Tierra de Reyes

love the music,

3 brothers, 3 sisters, 3 completely different relationships, interesting to watch, and especially love grandpa always pulling the rug out from under Leonardo.

Veronica, the evil (not really a) twin, is just not going to let Pablo go, is she falling, hmm, (but where is Rocio), and her upper crust thingy won't work so well once she meets her half brothers.

and where is Patricia, the walking tragedy, Samuel finally begins to wonder about,

Beatriz is interesting as she knows the story on all sides, it's her business, but seems to be only interested in snaring Samuel.

and the mature Cayetana and Rodríguez are anchoring the young ones from opposite ends.

and the Gallardos have to be the worse contractors ever, this house is never going to be finished, look at these blocks your laying, Arturo points out to Flavio.

so did the Gallardo's have their own place, that Ignacio paid off as a present to Alma, but since he died it is now owned by the Juncos, what's happening with that, and this other family that hangs out with the Gallardo's, not sure where they came from, did they work for the boys father?

Thanks, Hombre. I love short, non-recap recaps. I do need something to trigger my memory in order to come up with a comment.

Yes, the mean girls did go after Luciana, but she met a very cute boy. Hope he's not a creep hoping to get over on her.

I was wrong about Erica only feeling fragile when she visited Adán. It now appears she's trying to seduce him. This seems odd to me because every scene with Conrado shows her completely in love with him. Don't know where they're going with this.

My impression is that they're portraying Adán and Conrado as basically good guys. But they're also showing the inevitability of getting involved in the drug trade. Once you opt in, you're part of the violence and unlikely to ever get out in one piece.

I don't think Renato is going to be successful in killing Ignacio. I haven't really seen Juan Pablo Llano in much, but I think he's kind of a big deal and unlikely to be written out (killed) in the first couple of weeks.

Irene is quite the intriguing character. The actor, Adriana Barraza, was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Babel some years ago. She definitely portrays ambiguity. Obviously she's looking to her daughter for a meal ticket and a safe place to stay. It's unclear whether she cares for Anastasia at all. I was expecting her to turn to Gina and manage to back her, somehow getting money from Nat to keep her away from Anas. But, she went for the bigger fish, her daughter.

Anastasia is a very different character than Teresa Mendoza in La Reina del Sur. Teresa started out innocent and fell in love with a man involved in the cartel (but who was really a double agent). Anastasia appears to have been hardened by the awful life she lived with her mother. She seems to have once loved Nat, but is quickly ready to throw him under the bus. What she said to the policemen was half-hearted at best.

They surely like cliffhangers in this one. The first episode ended with a gun pointed at Anastasia in the hospital and the second with her pulling out a gun in the bathroom.

Los Miserables

Hay algo que no me cuadra. I love that phrase. This has been bothering me for a while, but...

Doesn't Memín know that the bruja, that has Roxana scared sh**less, is Lucías' sister? She told him before Rockie threw the stuffed animal over the side and then jumped after it. But Memín only remembered that she wore high heels?!

Memín knows that this memoria is what got Rockie killed. Who will he give it to? Who will find it next?

Are we nearing the end? Will Lucía be vindicated or will she end up in the cárcel for another 10 episodes?

I have a feeling they are cutting scenes, like Abel & Adriana, but the main story still makes sense.

Thanks for the recap, Hombre de Misterio. Summaries really help me out alot.

1) WOW!! When Ana and Renato put 'the hit' on two of the three men that raped Ana, I was not ready for the one in the restaurant that the waiter took out.

2) Gina wants to keep the baby yet she also wants to do coke in the bathroom? Yeah ... She's starting off with wonderful parenting skills. Plus ... How gullible can she be to tell Ana's mother about the child?

Deb - Nice job on the lyrics

Novelra - I just started posting on here that's why you haven't seen me. I follow Mi Corazon Es Tuyo, but I don't post on that one because I watch it on Hulu and I am only on episode 45 (way behind everyone else). I don't have any Spanish channels on my cable, so I stream telenovelas for my Spanish listening comprehension.

sara- Thanks for the welcome. I agree. I can't express what a wonderful tool Spanish television is in learning the language.

Anselmo’s bf: “Hay algo que no me cuadra” y a mi también! I did hear the name of Roque mentioned when Mem & Rox were puzzling over the “memoria”. Will they put 2 + 2 together?; will Roxi fess up about her terrible terror, at least to Memin?. I hope they aren’t cutting scenes. I hope they are just parceling them out while this major drama unfolds. I think we are nearing the end, but no hints yet from Telemundo.

Anon Gringa: gracias for your kind compliments. I’ve been on a crazy schedule lately, but I love this TN so and didn’t want it to languish for lack of attention, so I put in a bit of extra effort. Please know that I enjoy writing this stuff every bit as much as you all seem to enjoy reading it. The more fans the better. Things had begun to fall off alarmingly, so I thought I’d better jump in. The response has been gratifying. It’s great to get the conversation going. I hope we can sustain the momentum to the final, even if it’s just sharing a lot of comments.

Aficionada: I think you are a recapper in the making. Your comments are so detailed & thoughtful. Remember, there’s no set format for recapping. Everybody does it differently. Sometimes just a bullet point list is enough.

Dueños del Paraíso

ok, I recorded the intro and now with the words, I'm hooked.

if you watch the intro, about middle, police cars and sirens, the song ramps up,

tengo valor no tengo piedad
soy mal nacida como el prejuicio
a hierro tequila y sangre
seremos dueños del paraíso

since I don't speak spanish, I'm fascinated by how this lady turns these words into a song.

ok, I'm out on a limb here,

there is a place called Puerta de Hierro "an exclusive neighborhood in Zapopan, Guadalajara, Mexico, The neighborhood is located on Avenida Patria, in the west-center part of Zapopan, in the northwest part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area. It includes a residential area, shopping mall, and business district. It is notorious for its affluent population as well as the large amount of high-rise development in the business district which includes the second tallest building in the Metro Area, the best known attraction is the Andares Shopping Mall, a high-end shopping mall located in the southeastern edge of the neighborhood. Andares is one of the most exclusive shopping centers in the world"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puerta_de_Hierro,_Guadalajara

and what we learned in "Camelia la texana" by a smooth political move, tequila can only be called that if it was made in Tequila.

so here is my translation, please help me.

I have worth, but no mercy,
I was born bad, but with prejudice
to Hierre tequila, and blood,
we will be owners of Paradise.

Dueños
Hierro can also be iron or an iron tool and is part of the phrase a hierro vive a hierro muerte (live by the sword die by the sword.)

Dueños
We get such an education from Caray

I think hierro in the song is the brand of good tequila

Oooo! That's cool too! Looks like a hierro can be taken multiple ways.

I am completely hooked on this and Tierra.

Hombre, many thanks for your concise and helpful recap. When I read it, I was thinking that I would question your statement about Adán's daughter having a bad day at school, since she met a gorgeous guy who seems interested in her. However, I see several people beat me to it. As you noted, the guy was certainly someone most women would remember :-).

When this novela started, I was afraid that it would be a mediocre imitation of La Reina del Sur, again featuring Kate del Castillo, who is again involved in a narco plot, and again gets raped in the opening episode. But the more recent episodes seem to be less derivative of LRDS (though certainly reminiscent of other narco novelas).

Novelera, you said you were puzzled by Erica's attraction to Adán. But didn't she say something about Conrado having a bad temper and a tendency to be violent? I assume that helps to explain her attraction to Adán (as well as being a warning to Adán that he'll probably ignore, since his self-preservation instincts don't seem all that well developed).

Thanks, Juanita. I had forgotten the mention of Conrado supposedly having a violent temper. I do remember Verónica saying something about Adán having had a problem before about zipping his lip during conversations with his superiors. Got the impression maybe he'd been fired before for energetically sticking up for his point of view. But Vero wasn't there when that caricature of a racist white man called Adán a Mexican and expected him to settle for $15K less salary than he'd been promised.

Maybe they're going for Erica just having an uncontrollable seduction urge. They said she was an actor, and a model. Ximena Duque is portraying her as the sort of woman who's completely gotten by on her looks all her life. I just haven't seen any evidence of her being unhappy with Conrado. They're all over each other all the time.

deb I'm trying to catch up with episodes this afternoon. Now that the boys are laying cinder blocks I see what blockheads they are. Not that a know a thing about construction. Was there no way they could have written it that they worked in the stables?

I love this show, but the construction thing is just lame.

Dueños

Thanks, Hombre de Misterio. You filled in some gaps I had.

So Leandro Quezado is a philosopher/narcotrafficker. With the glasses and big moustache, he seems to be in disguise to me.

I'm liking Adan and Veronica and hopes he tells her the truth. She got on his case about getting fired so soon, but I can't imagine that I would've behaved any differently if I were her. And she hasn’t jumped on the crazy jealous train about Erica hanging around him. I'm liking Conrado too and I'm surprised he's supposed to be violent.

Adan is thin, but flaco rocks a pretty chiseled frame in a towel. Maybe Erica is just restless. She does nothing all day but suntan.

Anybody that would attend one of Nataniel's fiestas in honor of his wife or meet with him out in public is nuts. A good way to get shot to smithereens.

The cute guy that was friendly to Adan's daughter at the school seems too old to be a student there. Maybe he's a teacher?

I’m amazed at the difference between Anas's blonde and brunette look. As a brunette, she’s gorgeous. As a blonde, she looks bitter.

What a pig Nat is. He's so tired of his wife kvetching about getting gang raped after he fled and left her behind. At one point, it looked like he might rape her himself just to shut her up.

Dueños

Niecie, great comments. Good point about Erica maybe just being bored.

I agree that I like Kate's looks much better as a brunette. Don't know why they went with the blonde hair.

Yep, Nat is not a very nice guy. I don't think he's going to last for too much longer, though. I think the plot is meant to be Anastasia becoming a narco in her own right. Guess he was just using Gina. At first I thought they were going with his being in love with her and not caring much about his wife. But as soon as she made any demands, he was ready to throw her under the bus.
