La Gata #110 2/3/15 Know Your Enemy
I hate Ms. Latoodle-oo.
I hate Univision.
As usual, keep those expectations low and pardon my rage induced rant-cap. I didn't take notes and I'll do what I can. I'm trying not to drop the F-bomb all over this.
Fer finishes throwing Lo out of the house and tells everyone that she is NOT to be let back in. Meche wonders if Lo really has repented. *eyeroll*.
The PI informs Fer and Blanca that he may have found out who has Jarocha and where she is. At the same time, Fer gets a call from Tilico with instructions for leaving the ransom. Later, the PI and Fer go to deliver the money. The cops are waiting for Tilico.
Tilico leaves Jarocha in care of Ines with instructions to kill Jarocha. Ines can't even hold a gun convincingly and it just pisses me off. Damn. Can't they even take the time to make sure the bad guys don't look like dumbasses?
Dam goes to see Gisela in jail. She tries to argue that she's sick (save it, sister. WE are the ones who are sick.) At her hearing, she puts on a good crazy act for the judge. Dam tries to get the judge to understand it's an act, but his honor doesn't listen. Gisela will be sent to an institution. This is just crap. They take the time to let Viewerville know that Gi is bipolar and needs treatment, but at their convenience it's just an "act" and that Gi need jail, not treatment.
Aaaaand Gisela escapes.
Aaaaand Esme doesn't want to listen to any kind of reason and go back to the Fer mansion where there is a least a locking gate. So tired of her dumbass, stubborn, full of pride self.
Jarocha is freed. Univsion cut this out, but there must have been a face off in which Tilico was either shot or killed himself. All Esme says about it later is that Tilico preferred death to jail. Esme is the one to tell Rita all this. Rita can't understand why Esme is crying for the man who got out of jail just to harm her (and will they ever explain WHY the hell Tilico had it out for Esme?) Esme tells Rita she's crying for her. Esme understands a mother's pain.
The PI goes to see Jarocha. Uni also cut out that before he died, Tilico informed the PI that Jarocha was a cabaretera (which I think is putting it mildly.) Jarocha is sure he's there to insult her. On the contrary--he wants to know if they can start a relationship together.
Gisela has decided the basurero will be the best place to hide out and figure out how Esme thinks. She monologues endlessly across scenes about killing everyone Gata loves and finally having Gata die a slow and painful death (hmmm, just like this show.)
Virginia and Carrlos discuss her upcoming appointment with the doctor. They will be using a contraceptive until they know more. If she can't have children, they can adopt. Exploitative footage of children in the basurero follows. I am never watching a Lattoodle-oo production again. Sometimes I wonder if Lo's classist rants are loosely based on things Latoodle said in production meetings.
Fer asks Blanca if she would like to renew their vows. It was sweet, but I ain't going back and rewatching. The dress met with my approval.
Augie has a nightmare and drops dead as he calls Blanca's name.
They try to get artsy with the funeral shots. I just laugh my ass off. I'm going to hell.
Virginia and Carlos get the bad news. Lo was NOT lying. Virginia has some degenerative disease. They couldn't even bother to google some disease and make this believable? Jeez. Make her diabtetic. Does Steel Magnolias ring a bell?
Pablo and Esme are getting married! They take a pre-wedding stroll through the dump. Gi talks to herself and makes threats. La Gata se casa (La Gata is getting married.), pero Los voy a cazar (But I will hunt them down) That last bit may not be exactly what was said.
Esme goes to Fer and asks him to forgive Lo. Fer asks if she can forgive Lo and she has. Esme recognizes real tears of repentance. *eyeroll*
Wow. Pabs and Esme are actually dressed for a wedding and both of them are in front of the priest. My first impressions of the dress are favorable, but I'm not sure about that sash. Lo just rolls her eyes. Yeah, Esme...Lo has totally learned her lesson.
But I'm not holding my breath because Gi is outside and has splashed gasoline everywhere and is playing with her lighter.

UNI sure sliced and diced. We saw two eps in one I believe. It was so choppy. I had to laugh at the terrible Uni editing. One minute we have the Tilico and cop face off then the next Esme hugs Jarocha then the next Gisela has escaped then the next Augie dies all alone then the next the funeral then the next the vow renewal then that silly walk through the dump (how romantic..NOT) then the wedding.
Uni is doing the editing now in order to have it end by next Friday. I'm pretty sure we will get another edited ep tomorrow and possibly on Thurs as well. Then we should be back to watching full eps I believe.
I wonder if we'll get the full two hour gran finale or if we will get an edited finale.
Anyway, I saw Blanca's dress on my way out to yoga and I approved. I wish I had also seen Esme's dress, but I guess it might not be the final one if Gi is out to ruin the wedding.
I would like to fire whoever made the consistent decision to speed past all the really big events while dragging out all the BS boring stuff.
I want to be Erika Buenfil when I grow up. Both her dresses were gorgeous, but I think the mother-of-the-bride pink was my favorite.
As for Esme's dress, it was lovely, but I didn't see any point to that sash. Last-minute spill, maybe? Or last-minute alterations? But in-character, the only reason I can see for it is maybe she was trying to honor that Pablo's family was in mourning.
I'm really starting to worry about what they're going to subject us to for another week and a half.
At the face off, Tilico tells the detective to forget all about the cabareta of Jarocha because she should be dead by now. Pablo and Esme show up after the cops show up. Tilico prefers to die than to go back to jail. He puts the gun to his head and Esme screams Nooooooooo. They never do show him pulling the trigger.
As we saw Jarocha was with Rita and Cha Cha when Rita went to leave flowers at Tilico's grave. There Jarocha admits to Rita that she learned to like her. Rita calls her Jarochita so I guess Rita learned to like her too.
Pablo proposes to Esme. He gives her two photos. One photo is of them kissing. Then on the other photo the ring is taped to the back. Esme accepts of course. She says something about wanting to go back to the place where they kissed to formally accept.
Aguie wasn't feeling well. He was in his bed. Lo shows up and is pissed because her sons don't want to forgive her. Aguie tells Lorenza that he isn't feeling well. She doesn't give a crap and tells him to die. She wants him to go to hell so he won't ever rest in peace. After this scene they showed the scene where Aguie dies all alone.
Dr. Javier accepts some job offer in Germany. Manuel will be in charge of the institute. He will go and say goodbye to Esme.
Damian had gone to see Icky to warn her about Gi. Damina thinks Gi may want to harm Icky since Icky was a witness Damian had planned to use.
In a later scene Damian and Icky are talking at El Sil's place. The two are friends. Dr. Javier shows up. Icky is surprised to see her. Dr. Javier tells her that he's going to Germany. Icky wishes him all the best and hugs him. Damian is looking a little jealous. Later Damian tells Icky that he likes her and asks for an opportunity to court her.
Thats all I saw. If you want to watch the complete eps you can find them on YT.
I feel somewhat guilty expecting you to fulfill obligations that you made well before you realized that you were imbroglioed (is that a word??) in the mess that, as you've made abundantly clear, you now find yourself in...
As it stands, I derive no pleasure from your recaps, which only leave me with an overwhelming abundance of guilt at the fact that I am, in some ways, still enjoying myself here... apparently, I am missing out on something. I think that you need relief from your recapping duties here- unless you're an absolute masochist, I can't understand why you continue to subject yourself to something you (apparently) find so insulting, and disgusting.
That being said then, can we perhaps take a vote as to whether we can mercifully relieve Sara of her recapping duties here? She obviously despises what she is doing... and I, for one, would much rather experience this on my own, or with, perhaps, the company of such benighted, ignorant souls who can find some pleasure and enjoyment out of this, apparent, 'dreck', than be reminded that we're utter fools for not despising this every moment that its on.
Thank you. And I look forward to your feedback. I (I am ASHAMED to admit on here) ENJOY 'La Gata'... Sara, obviously, does not. Why, then, should we continue to subject her to such obvious torture? I know that I am getting nothing from this...
Sincerely.
Sara, delete the comment and perhaps Anon would be willing to give it another go and just express their enjoyment for the show without the rest of it.
Though I understand Anon's frustration, still, Sara and all the other recappers put themselves on the line- for good AND for ill- for OUR benefit. And thanks to them. Perhaps if 'Anon' would be willing to step up and do HALF the work Sara has done for us with this novela, then maybe I could give her argument more credence.
As it stands- THANK YOU, SARA!!! And keep up the good work!
Mauricio, thanks so much for filling in the missing/cut scenes. I kept thinking "whaaaa...???" Jarocha's rescue, Tilico's death, Augie's demise (not with a bang but a whimper, darn it!) all went speeding by as if they were happening in dog-years. And dang, bad news from the Doc about Virginia.
By the way, Gisela sloshes gasoline all around outside the entrance to the church, roughly in a circle. Then she stands INSIDE the circle of gasoline and flicks her lighter. If she sets it off, the end of this TN could come sooner than we think.

I would like to suggest, however, that your enjoyment of this series could have been accomplished without attacking the opinions and the efforts of someone who has faithfully helped us understand what happened in this unfolding disaster, and shared with us our amazement at the rough handling of what could have been an enjoyable series.
Just about any opinion would be welcomed here except attacking our dear recappers.
In short, why don't you make a leaping sexual advance upon a rolling circular pastry.
Thank you Sara. I love your coverage and your snark, and your consternation with this series.
David
I probably shouldn't respond.
Anon- I am sorry you do not like my recaps. I am not sure there has ever been a call to vote out a recapper. I almost feel as if I've made Caray history.
Anyone who wants to can recap. It's not an exclusive club and you may have noticed it's difficult to get full teams together. I hope no one sees your comment and decides not to ever recap for fear of someone saying "I hate your recap."
I am perfectly willing to hand over my last three La Gata recaps to you. Please contact Kat.
Steven, Kat and J- thank you for your support.
J in Oregon- I had a similar thought about the lighter and gasoline. I thought there was no way she could get away fast enough and now that you've called attention to the fact that she's INSIDE the gasoline circle (soon to become a Ring of Fire) I wonder is we will get a flaming anvil. Talk about Burnin' Love. I can't wait to see what Kat does with it.
Kat- I am very nervous about the next week and a half. If they are giving us action that usually occurs in the last 2 episode, we are in for a boring denouement.
On a separate note:
"Sometimes I wonder if Lo's classist rants are loosely based on things Latoodle said in production meetings."
I have always thought the same with Latoodle abominations. The endless stereotypical "flash" rants thinly veil the flesh & blood contempt of the author and the patronizing tone toward the intended audience.
Oh my, could they be trying to put this thing out of its misery by this Friday?
I'm glad Augies dead
I'm pissed Lo got a pass (My panties are in a knot Esmeralda interceded, but no surprise she is her fathers daughter)
I'm pleased Jarocha has someone that wants her
Lo has flip flopped so many times that I think she's faking. She'll get Esme to trust her and then try again to get rid of her. Hopefully David and gringo can create an anvil worthy of her.
"Oh my, could they be trying to put this thing out of its misery by this Friday?"
Hmmm. Could they? Wouldn't they be announcing the "rumbo al final"?
I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that. Then do a couple days of 2 hour MCET eps hoping to pull them into La Sombra.
As far as this "show" goes, I believe that Esme is truly a dunce. You want a woman who tried to kill your children at your wedding? Am I missing something here?
Also, isn't that church made of blocks of stone? How are they going to burn it? It looks like she poured gasoline on the outside, so as long as they stay in the church, they should be ok.
David
I liked your description of this thing going down hill on a cardboard sled.
Loved the shout out to the Doors!
What are some other flaming song titles?
Great Balls of Fire!
Dan and Esme did look lovely at the altar. Maite is, to me, one of those actresses that pulls off any wedding dress you put her in.
This show was so chopped and so many big event scenes thrown in I wondered if it was going to end last night.
I'm surprised they cut the proposal scene and I must admit I was wondering how they finally came back together.
Esme is so stupid, not leaving the house for Fer's and asking that Lo be forgiven, again. I hate shows with stupid heroines and galans and this show is just like CI. Bad decisions over and over and over. I wish this show was ending this Friday.
I would have liked to have seen the Damien and Vicky scenes. Damien def deserves some happiness for all the work he has done on some many behalves.
Wish Mariano had found some happiness but I think it may be too late. Hopefully they can throw a girl in there at the last minute.
As a matter of fact, out of solidarity with this recapping team, into which I was warmly welcomed after the show had gotten underway, and in support of all our dedicated, faithful and witty viewers and commenters, I am watching each and every show right to the end.
Eli, I watched yesterday, your recapped ROCKED and the comments were off the chain funny and on point as usual! Thank you!
I am proud to be a member of this recapping team. This was my first steady recapping gig and I appreciate all the members of the La Gata community.
Thank you, Mauricio, for filling in the blanks and thank all of you all who appreciate and defend our efforts. Thank you all, and thank you Sara for this slammin' recap!
Lila
-Why did Tilico have it out for Esme. Not just with the Juan Garza business, but with the earlier "If he escapes from jail, Esme is in danger!" that we heard waaaaay back in the beginning.
-How the heck did Lo find out about him and decide he'd be able to help them? (And why am I assuming there IS a reason?)
-What happened to Tilico wanting revenge on Augie and not wanting to turn him in for murdering Garabato's parents just so he could get revenge himself?
-What was up with the surprise Garabato, aka Victor, said he had for everyone? I gather it had something to do with getting his assets back, but nothing happened.
-Could they not even be bothered to come up with an actual disease for Virginia? And why did they go with "degenerative"? Don't they know that means "she's just going to keep getting worse"? What are her current symptoms? Doesn't the production staff know how to Google?
-Why is Gi wearing a hat? Does LaToodle have a thing for hats?
Mauricio, thanks for filling us in on the cut scenes. Certainly, last night we could already tell that some things were being left out. I wonder if there will be more tonight. Or maybe they just expected us not to care about things like the disappearance of Doc Javier.
tofie, it does feel like they're rushing towards the end. I'm very concerned, given the current track record, that they're going to miss the mark yet again on what works better rushed and what works better dragged out. A lot of what was cut tonight was more important to the plot than what was shown yesterday with the endless flashbacks. I mean, yeah, all episode to tell us Tilico is no good...and then we don't see his end.
J, Bryan, and Sara, let me add that to the things that bug me about Gi...she's out there doing an interpretive dance outside the church where Pablo and Esme are getting married, and no one thought that maybe, just maybe, they needed to post guards?
Sara, Great Balls of Fire is what we would have gotten if Lo were wearing yesterday's necklace and fought Gi for control of the lighter!
Carvivlie, no joke, Mariano has been one of the more interesting characters, but he gets no love interest. And we're running out of weddings at which to introduce a last-minute love interest!
Lila, I'm so happy you joined the team!
Principe needs a love interest. And more scenes. Maybe we'll get "The Principe Show" for the last week. I'm just going to hold onto that thought until they burst my bubble tonight.
I can see the last scene of this novela being Pablo and Esme each holding a baby while Principe nurses her litter. (I'm assuming Esme was wrong on the sex of the cat. I mean she has been wrong on a lot of things! ;))
There could still be time for Monica and Mariano, though add that to the list of unexplained occurrences...what has Monica been doing all this time, besides learning how to hit people over the head with heavy objects and make rational decisions like calling the cops on the guy who was trying to kill her mother? She still needs to work on her spine, though. If she had called the cops, she would have saved us some pointless "drama."
Anon- recapping is hard work when you have a good show to work with, but when you have a bad one it is a nightmare. We all try to have fun here-if you like the show, more power to you, considering it is entertainment you should be able to enjoy it,but the truth is this show is lame. And it could have been better-and we should be able to say that. Gringo likes the show and has been a strong supporter, and never once has any one put him down for it. We don't vote anyone off the island, we stick this out together to the bitter end.
Please also remember that we spend a lot of time working on the recaps, on average I spend three hours on mine-longer if I'm recapping a drama, I sometimes go to bed way late to make it happen or wake up very early to work on them, and I do it gladly because I love this community, but it is not easy work, and if someone produces something this crappy I will point it out. We can enjoy the show together and mock it together, but we don't pick on each other.
Sara, I for one love your recaps and thank you for the time and effort you put into them!
And I guess Ines was all hot for Garabato, once upon a time.
A happy recap or one that is filled with rage is still helpful to my/our understanding of the show that I as well as others have chosen to watch. Work goes into each recap weather or not the recapper likes the episode or not and therefor I must say thank you to Sara for being a champion and trudging through even though you would rather not. A commitment fulfilled deserves praise regardless if it is mixed with rage or not.
I myself am not filled with rage over La Gata but will say that Ms.
Latoodle-oo should either retire or look for another line of work.
La Gata was not well written, it
could have been but there was still enough to keep the gringo coming back night after night. When La Gata is finally over, I have to say that I will miss the opening intros. There were two of them and I found them both to be very enjoyable. I will miss Maite the beautiful raven haired goddess
and her beautiful opening theme song. The two young actors who played the young Esme and Pablo will be missed too. Yes and I hope
that I will be able to see Principe again somewhere. I will miss the dump, (never thought that I would see that in a novela)
the mansions, the babies, Augie's
rough voice along with his drunken stupors.(thank you David for helping him along in this regard) There are a lot of things that I will miss and no, I am not filled with rage but would whole heartedly admit that La Gata could have been better.
Thanks again Sara for trudging through.
the gringo
Y'all are on ..er...FIRE today! I'm enjoying the comments.
gringo-Despite my rage, I will still miss this show. I love Maite and I've loved the company.
I already miss Augie and his spinning chair :-(
I agree that there is still time for Monica and Mariano. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Really bad editing from Uni. I know that the Gata crowd wants this one over with but cutting a novela to pieces whether it's a good show or not is wrong, just wrong. I firing off my displeasure to Univision.
Didn't realize that G was pouring the gasoline all around herself in her effort to burn down the church that the wedding is taking place in.If she dies tonight, with
Pablo's great knowledge and artistic ability, he could take over the art gallery.
Gata a dumbass? PLEEEASE!!! Esmeralda is a goddess sent down to earth from heaven. She is not used to life on earth. An earthly existence is all new to her. Sure she will make a few mistakes but name calling won't help. Maite needs some calm loving advise to help her transition smoothly into an earthly existence. All she needs is love. The gringo can help
Thanks Mauricio for filling us in.
The gringo
This TN could have been better but sadly it wasn't. As was said earlier by someone this novela turned out to be one of those shows that can be watched while doing other things. There was no need to pay close attention to every single detail because it was bound to be repeated again by someone. It also needed more action.
There were some good things about it though that I did enjoy like crazy Gisela, Augie, and Lorenza. I also enjoyed what we saw of Virginia and Carlo's romance. I also liked Omar and Vero who seem to have disappeared. Jarocha was also a great character and I wish she would have been given a better storyline besides being Esme's friend.
I agree gringo. Uni is the worst. This just proves that they don't have respect for any show whether it has good ratings or not. They'll cut whatever they want and not care about the viewers. Shame on them!
I thought I spotted Principe's tail going up Esme's stairs while the humans continued their endless hand-wringing about everything.
Oh, and lest we forget, what about Dorila's big secret that is making her wake up with nightmares?
But the most puzzling as someone pointed out: how did Lo manage to find a prisoner from the dump (Tilico) plus a judge who could be bought?
I have gotten into the habit of thinking these non-sequiters are due to my lack of cognitive powers, but maybe it's just bad writing?
J in O
Anon at 3:33 I wouldn't be surprised if Principe got the hell out of there to have a nap while the humans freaked out.
tofie, add that to the list of "there is no sex on this show." I could have sworn Jarocha was an ex-prostitue, but instead they called her a "bargirl" and acted like that was some kind of horrible profession that she would be ashamed to have revealed. Either way, Jarocha needs a happy ending, for sure. Girlfriend has earned it.
If reading Sara's 're-craps is wrong, I don't wanna be right!
Oh, and I laughed so hard I nearly had a "drink through the nose moment" when delusional Rita said at her darling son's "funeral" that "at least now he is where he should be, peacefully resting with DIOS NUESTRO SENOR!!" Excuse me, WHAAT!??!!
Why is it that even the slightest criticism of an established clique brings in a comment that is either sexual, racial or just plain hatred.
Anon 10:51's comment was a criticism and not any of the above but the followup comment/attacks were brutal.
I shouldn't be surprised because I got the same treatment from the clique of 6 whose comments dominate this board and throws the book at anyone who doesn't praise a recapper regardless of how bad the recap is.
Threats to discontinue recapping don't hurt those of us who could care less for your personal pain and suffering. But if you want to bite off your nose to bite your face go right ahead. Glad I could help.
By the way, I am not Anon 10:51 but I support his/her comment. ms 5ft who loves to stir the pot and jump to everyone
s defense suggested that Sara delete the comment. I'm glad Sara didn't. But just to be on the safe side I've copied and pasted the comment into my word processor so that I could repost it each and every time.
Is it really being fair and honest to expect only positive and glowing comments on a public blog?
Sue NY
We recap at the cost of many hours, hours in which we could be doing anything. I work 10-12 days, and still go home and recap, why? Because I enjoy Caray Caray. The purpose of the recaps is to do just that-recap the episode. Sara's recap did the job-and yeah, her dislike for the show comes across loud and clear, but it's a stupid show and someone has to say so.
If anyone enjoys La Gata, good for them, we welcome their comments and insights, no one called Annon10 stupid for liking the show because we can all respect the fact that someone might enjoy it.
With Valentines Day coming up I guess most couples will be taking strolls at the dump. It is the place to be for romance I guess. LOL
TN4ever (queen of lurkers)
Can someone please, please, please give Jarocha a good makeover? Something that involves an actual hair style? Pretty please?
I blame the out-of-tune guitar.
And, no, Victor cannot use the same stuff in his hair. Because curls. And if he tried to copy Pablo he'd end up looking like Lucille Ball. Just scrunch and air dry, Victor...trust me.
She has spent a large amount I think. She payed off that dude that was supposed to help Ines escape from prison but ended up conning her. Cha Cha also made her give up some of her money to El Sil to help him pay off Damian's hospital bills.
Plans for the Fin party...booze. What? That's not a plan?
I'm sure she has enough for a cheap hair clip, but I suddenly felt sad for her. I always had the impression she was sending every cent she had to Tilico in prison and now he's gone. I'm sure she'll do something tacky tonight and I'll get over it.
Also, if I were convinced Garabato/Victor was going to survive the finale, I would then feel free to worry about his hair.
Just sayin'.
