LXV, during my quick read of the comments earlier I missed that you are the regular Friday recapper. I should have said I can fill in on a Friday if needed. (The other days my schedule is pretty full). If you still want to do Friday I can fill in when you're not available on another Friday. Either way works for me.
Spanish student
Another very interesting episode. I really like the way this novela surprises me again and again. Whatever the obvious conclusion I jumped to, the writers come up with something more interesting.
CARDONA DRUG WAREHOUSE
Anastasia and Alejo listen to the recording that Saúl made of Vero, both of them astonished.
CASA ROMERO
Verónica is in a black fugue. She burns up the breakfast. When Adán is awakened by the smell she sarcastically asks him which thing he’s going to fix. Is he going to leave the drug business or become the most successful narco in history? She tells him she’s going to get a lawyer this week to proceed with the divorce.
MIAMI HOSPITAL
Leandro Quezada is limping down the corridor using a walker. Iggy is telling about mowing down all of Anas’ street dealers. [Sidebar: I find it absolutely disgusting the way they show the “employees” of these drug kingpins fawning all over the boss. My boss would think I’d lost my marbles if I kissed his hindquarters constantly the way Iggy does LQ.] LQ makes me hate him even more by expatiating about his “philosophy” that the best gatilleros (paid assassins) are as young as possible.
CASA ROMERO
Adán’s mother arrives unexpectedly from México. When she hears the knock at the door, Vero is very nervous and tells him not to open the door. [Bet she thinks her chickens are coming home to roost.]
MIAMI HOSPITAL
LQ tells Iggy that the doctor is not only going to release him but she’s going to give him a hot night in bed. He spies a man on the telephone. ¿Y este pichurria, que? (Colombian slang: una pichurria is something absolutely worthless.) Somehow LQ knows the guy is a cop. He spits in his face and tells him to tell Ferrara that he’s coming after his mother and will cut out her tongue. This worries Iggy a bit. LQ asks Iggy to find out what Paola is up to.
CASA ROMERO
Apparently Luciana didn’t tell her grandmother more than the domestic problems because Adán’s mother (don’t know her name) asks how he managed to pay for this fancy house.
MARINA’S RESTAURANT
We see José Carlos and Paola sitting down to lunch. Iggy glares at them from near the hostess station. He’s assumed that JC is Paola’s boyfriend.
CARDONA DRUG WAREHOUSE
Conrado and Adán arrive at the warehouse. They discuss the killing of the dealers the night before. Unlike LQ Anas cares about the people who work for her. She says they’ll try to do something for the families. Alejo asks what they’re going to do without Gina to order the drugs. Conrado brings Adán and Alejo up to date about Gina taking off from the hospital, leaving her baby. Anas keeps up the pretense of the baby being a nuisance and that she’ll have to contact a social worker to take him.
Then Anas tells Adán that his wife ratted them out to the police. She plays the tape. She tells them that only Benevides has heard the tape. Anas says that Vero is a danger to them all and that, if it were not for Benevides, all of them would now be in jail.
In a men’s clothing store Saúl tries on – I don’t believe it – a blue leisure suit, admiring himself in the mirror!
CASA SAN MIGUEL
Érica tells Sergio over the phone that she never wants to hear from him again. After she hangs up on him, Sergio tells Carmen that he’s worried about the premiere. Conrado has overheard Érica’s conversation.
And this is the scene that surprised me. On a Univisión show misunderstandings fester for weeks. Érica tells Conrado the whole truth. She tells him how Sergio convinced her. That she was told what she was doing was art. Conrado: “So what happened?” Érica says she went to the pre-premiere and saw the movie. She begins to cry. “They deceived me! Sergio used scenes with another actress, pornographic scenes.” She swears to him that she didn’t do any sex scenes.
CASA ROMERO
Adán goes to confront Vero. For once he doesn’t take the loving husband tack with her. He tells her that not only did she want to divorce him, but she wanted to turn him in to the police! Is that what she wanted? To see him in jail? She tells him that she didn’t mention him by name. Adán: “Right. Like no one knows you’re my wife?” Adán’s mother comes into the room and asks if she heard correctly about the police.
MARINA’S RESTAURANT
Paola tells José Carlos that she’s tried and tried to get her father to quit the business. JC knows his father better than that. He tells her he loves the power too much to ever give it up. Paola gets snippy about her brother and father remaining angry all these years. JC says that he might someday forget things, but he’ll never forgive. We see him remembering a scene (no images, only LQ’s voice) in which LQ screamed curses at him, calling him malparido, rata asquerosa. José Carlos tells Paola that he didn’t leave Colombia willingly; his father forced him to leave.
MIAMI HOSPITAL
Iggy tells LQ about the man Paola lunched with. That he appeared to be well known in the restaurant and appeared to be Paola’s boyfriend. Iggy described him a bit, saying he’s about Iggy’s age, with light eyes. Iggy rages jealously about his having been a fool for proposing marriage. LQ tells him not to worry. If this guy is a problem, they’ll have him chupando gladiolas very soon.
MARINA’S RESTAURANT
José Carlos tells Paola more of the story. He says their mother was excited for all of them to spend the holidays together. He and his father had an argument right after dinner on Xmas Eve. They had a big fight, and his father made him leave the country, and to tell everyone that he’d decided to study in Europe. JC says that he and his father are very different. JC told his father some truths he didn’t want to hear. Paola says that, if what he said is true, her mother would have realized that something was wrong. JC says that their mother did know. He spoke with her a few times, and she suspected that what his father said was a lie. JC says that, a few days after he spoke with her, their mother died.
CASA ESPARZA
Analia is on the bed watching Alejo get ready to leave for his “meeting”. We see that Analia overheard Alejo tell Lidia to ask for a key at the hotel in the name of Alex Villalobos. Analia shows up there and asks for the key herself.
CASA CARDONA
Anas is in the kitchen watching Modesta prepare dinner for she and Conrado. Irene comes in and snarks about the whole thing. When Anas objects, she tells her daughter that she doesn’t want to see her get hurt. Later, when Conrado doesn’t show, Anas calls his house. Érica answers, but Anas hangs up when she hears her voice.
SERGIO’S STUDIO
Carmen has no sympathy for Sergio as he talks about Érica refusing to speak to him. It’s pretty clear he wants her at the “premiere”. Carmen leaves. But Sergio thinks she’s come back when he hears the door open. He turns around to look down the barrel of Conrado’s gun. Sergio tries to talk his way out of it. Conrado: “You know what I feel like doing? I feel like shooting you where it would do the most harm, blowing off your ….” Sergio tells him that everything can be fixed. Conrado: “But I’m not going to do it, at least not right now. I’m a civilized man.” He says he wants to see the movie and throws Sergio across the room when he tries the tack he used with Érica, that he doesn’t have a copy.
CASA CARDONA
We can see that Anas is hurt by Conrado standing her up. Irene tells her that Conrado is going to stay with his wife. That she’s sure the guy is lying to Anas.
MIAMI HOTEL
Analia hides in the hotel room closet when Lidia arrives. [Guess the desk clerk had TWO keys to give to two different women.] Alejo and Lidia make love. Analia gets to watch this through an opening in the closet door. She also overhears him tell Lidia that his marriage is over and that the two of them can finally be happy togther.
CASA CARDONA
Renato shows Anas the announcement of Sugar Lips in the newspaper. [They announce the opening of porno movies in the paper?]
When Anas goes to her room and doesn’t find the baby, she is very worried. But the baby is downstairs being fussed over by Silvana. Silvana asks what’s up with Elias. He’s been kind of mysterious. Anas tells her that Elias is working for her!
Great recap, novelera! Many thanks! I especially appreciated your account of the conversations between LQ and Iggy, and, for that matter, LQ and almost anyone. I understood very little. I love the sound of that Colombian accent, but the meaning goes right by me, even when they're not using slang (thanks for pichurria). Interestingly, I know a couple of people from Colombia, and neither of them sounds anything like the Colombian narcos (makes sense, I guess, since neither of them is a narco).
I'm surprised that Paola didn't see Iggy lurking in the background at the restaurant where she was talking with JC. He seemed to be quite visible, until of course the waitress came over and asked whether he had a reservation. I guess at that point he may have had to leave. But if he got up to leave, he'd be even more visible. Hmmm....
I too find the fawning over LQ (and not just by Iggy) astonishing. A normal person would probably become extremely suspicious and/or disgusted with the fawner. But apparently LQ demands that kind of behavior from all his flunkies. Does that mean that deep down he's insecure, or just over-the-top crazy for power. (Should the "or" in my sentence be "and"?)
I agree about the difference between the way Univision and Telemundo handle misunderstandings. That was one of a number of things that made me pretty much abandon Univision. I also find Telemundo's plots somewhat more interesting, less hackneyed.
Wow, Analia really got an eyeful and earful in the hotel closet. At first I thought the fact that she had the room key would create problems for Lidia, but apparently the desk clerk simply gave her another key without mentioning that someone else already had one. I also kept expecting that Analia would either sneeze or have to pee.
When Vero tells Adán that she didn't give his name to the police, I'm surprised that he didn't mention that she gave up Conrado's. In fact, although on Friday we heard the recording including Conrado's name, last night I don't think they played that part again. Is Adán aware that she mentioned Conrado?
I'm wondering what the story is between JC and his father, something so terrible that JC will never forgive him.
wonderful recap novelera!
and so insightful.
ah yes, the mother-in-law adds just the right touch to domestic problems,
how long are you staying?
and Chad shows up, (it's getting pretty scary every time the door bell rings) and is offered a place at the dinner table, Delia has heard of him.
Iggy really seems obsessed with having the virgin Paola to himself, as far as obsessions go.
don't know what the doctora sees in Leandro, especially laying in bed with those glasses on.
I too wondered about the keys, but I noticed there were only two as Alejo knocked.
(and I also wondered about the lack of a bathroom in the closet).
oh my, such a complicated character Analia is, and in one slip and she has pulled the rug out from under herself, will she lose her smokin', drinkin', coke-in' husband and all of his money?
or did she discover that she does love him?
I don't know if we heard the Conrado part on the tape last night, but Conrado did, as he was taken aback for being blamed for everything.
Anas didn't appear to like Silvana fawning over the baby, did she offer a name, Rodriguez?
Romy
Thanks, Novelera. Great recap and the dialogue between LQ and Iggy was very helpful.
I can sure see Conrado telling Adán Vero named him and using this as fodder to persuade his buddy to let Vero go and get on with the swinging single life.
Funniest moment – LQ slapping Iggy’s hand away when he tried to help his boss with the walker.
Next funniest moment – Saúl admiring himself in the mirror.
Kudos to Conrado for sticking it to Sergio.
Wow, Analia is in the closest for a long time. I wonder if she saw what I saw – that Alejo doesn’t really want Lidia for more than a chick on the side but is acting out of anger cause he overheard Analia saying she’s not in love with him anymore. From the tear streaming down her face, maybe Analia is realizing she is still in love with him, or doesn't want the money to go away.
Yay, Anas didn’t go beserk and want to disappear Vero. Romy, ITA it didn't seem realistic, but I want Vero to stick around.
Thanks, Novelera, great recap, I could really picture the scenes.
I also have trouble with Paola's Colombian accent. I think different parts of Colombia have different accents, this one is the Medellin accent, where lots of the druglords are from. They use very few consonants. For example, at one point, Paola either said una bobada (foolishnees), or una abogada (female lawyer). She said something like "u a a o a a", see, just vowels. Of course, with context and practice, it can be understood.
I agree with Irene that Anas, although super smart in her business, is not so wise in her love life.
This was the early days of X rated films, and they were so rare, they WERE announced in the newspaper. I remember the ad for Deep Throat, when I was about 18. yes, I did go see it, but only for "educational" reasons :)
PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION
Diablo challenges Lil about her loyalty; if it turns out she's playing both sides of this, he's sending her straight to hell and she's going to burn slowly! Lil looks quite daunted by his threat. She squirms as she lies "Daniel Ponce has so many women, how am I supposed to know precisely who is this Marina person you're talking about? Diablo grabs her by the back of the neck and threatens: Well, we'll just suppose for a moment that you're a little confused, but your noviecito he's f***ed Genaro rubs his chin in circumspection. Lil looks chastened
DIVORCE COURT
Elena and Radamés sit in the judge's office with their respective attorneys. It all goes in favor of Elena—everything patria potestad over little Nacho (who bears the imposing moniker of Ignacio de Jesus Echeverria Duran) court-appointed supervision of all visitation and half the conjugal assets. The judge has to caution Radames that if he has objections— (which he does: "I worked all my life for that money, I'm not sharing it with a prostitute like her",— if he has objections, he'll just have to take it to another judge. ¡Caso cerrado! Rad goes ballistic, insulting his lawyer, who tells him this is all of his own making, and he'd better not lay a hand on his now-ex wife. This doesn't stop Rad, but Pablo does, outside the office. "What on earth are you doing here?" Same old, don't worry, I'm not stalking you, just looking after your well-being." He takes off his shades and kisses her hand like the true caballero he is, completely debonair with a winning smile and adorable flourish as he takes off with no heavy weather. [Sigh, your recapper has just melted onto the floor] Elena is absolutely, radiantly overcome; she is smitten and admits as much; that she's never stopped loving him. [It was a refreshing bit of acting & a nice turning point.]
CONSULTORIO DEL DR. MALLORCA
And speaking of acting, this next scene is another fine solo performance by the good( but stricken) doc who, fighting off the tremor in his afflicted right hand is facing up to whatever his dire diagnosis portends. Mario, his colleague & specialist, says that it may not necessarily be Parkinson's despite Gonzalo's suspicions based on family history. Mario tries to mitigate Gonzalo's rising panic by reciting all the effective treatments available, and it doesn't mean an early death. That's not what Gonzo's worried about. He's thinking long-term: diminished faculties, increased tremor, rigidity, all the things he's witnessed in his great-grandfathers, father, a brother, even. Mario has no miracle to offer, and Gonzalo doesn't want to face that future.
MINI-VICKI'S NURSERY
Chelo with Mini-Vicki, reminisces with wistful cheer about what a disorderly wild-child her Vicki used to be growing up, never cleaning up her room. She breaks into tears looking at a portrait, asking is it really true what your aunt Liliana did? and why did you tell Lucia and not me, your own mother? Octavio saunters in saying, Vicki also called him and that she chose Lucia who would know what to do with the information. The indignant Chelo seems so sad and desolate as she strokes the portrait.
Lucha bi*ches to Deya about what a bunch of passive do-nothings in her family. Deya agrees politely. The conversation shifts to baby talk when Deya sips her coffee and Lucha tells he no more coffee in her condition. Deya wants Lucha to move back in with her (so she can essentially be her private nurse, is what I'm thinking). The hormones overcome poor Deya; she blubbers. Lucha then warns with a hint of menace that the "chamuco" will soon show his true colors.
MARINA'S APARTMENT
Marina's heading out for the day; Dan wants to come too, he's itching to get out and deal with the situation. She says "no way" It's not safe and besides, you're still convalescing. She gets a call from Lil warning of an imminent attempt on Dan's life.
Two plaid-shirted henchmen without hats are at the door; Dan shoots one; disarms the other & knocks him out. D & M get outta there.
Diablo shows up on the scene and doesn't like what he finds. He grills the surviving henchman, who says "They were waiting for us" while Genaro stands guard at the door. Diablo goes on his tired demonic rant about how it's everybody's fault but his and why does he hire such inept imbeciles.
LUCHA CAN'T FIND THE KIDS!
Still on her shift, she suddenly remembers the kids and begs Nancy to cover for her (for 2 hours?) while she goes to pick them up. (This is what used to be called multi-tasking)
The teacher?, principal?, social worker? says, innocently, "Why, Sr. Montés has taken them out for an ice cream!" Lucha's fit to be tied. She stomps off to find them, wearing a jewel-toned wrap dress and dangly earrings that she just must have had hanging in her locker. [her kids are missing and she has to go change her wardrobe?] She reams out Sr. Montes for not informing her before he took them out of school. Of course, the kids are no help, they're in pig's heaven with their bowls of gelado. He swears up and down it's all for their good. He would move the moon & stars for her and bla-bla-bla.
POLICE HQ CAFETERIA
Ev & Pab discuss the new baby Santiago. "He looks just like me" (imagine that?) Ev's all for playing dad, but Adri just sees him as a fling, so marriage is out. And León's had it with him. Pab asks which one can you see yourself with in the future? Ev picks "Leoncito" who, by some strange coincidence just happens to be standing around the corner and overhears, sighing with a wistful smile.
A CHEAP HOTEL
Dan & Marina seek temporary refuge while they figure out their next steps. Marina has no safe place to go in the entire D.F. except possibly with Ivana (bad idea, nixes Dan). She's scared under that nasty exterior of hers.
HOSPITAL NEWBORN NURSERY
Adri & Marisela face off about their hot topic. Mari is provocative & defensive. wanting to know Adri's intentions. Adri is pretty open about her true feelings and is totally cool. "Evaristo & I had nothing more in common than that one night; he was great in bed, but.... " They bond—briefly—until Mari kind of loses it and gets passive-aggressive, thinking that Adri will always be pulling in the net on "her" guy with this baby daddy thing. Adri, the blithe spirit, seems honest to me; "Yeah, Evaristo will always have a right to see his kid, but I'm really not interested in him." Mari just won't let it go. They agree they will never be BFFs.
THE RETURN OF THE THEME SONG AND OPENING CREDITS!
CONSULTORIO DEL DR. MALLORCA
Abel pops in to say, "Hi! I've been a little worried. Is something wrong?" The stricken & preoccupied Gonzalo puts him off with a lie about how he's gone back with his ex. "Bye, kid, it's been good to know you, but it's all over now."
Gonzo won't come clean with Abel; he keeps lying about his old lover. Abel sputters on about how he's gone & "come out" and now what? Gonzo reminds him he still hasn't told his dad. He tries to play hard & tough just to make Abel go away. He succeeds. [Claudio Lafarga (I had to look up his name) does a terrific job with this scene, conveying misery & desperation; I like how he's handling the awkwardness in these scenes.] It's the good doctor's turn to dissemble; everybody else has been lying through their teeth for months now
PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION
"Damn it, Lucha knows! What an idiot I was to scare her with those drugs." The clueless Nuria, smirkingly offers her services as a substitute. Here we get the gamut of Diablo's usual facial expressions. "You just don't get it; I want her! I want her to want to want me! & etc." Nuria continues not to get it while listening to Diablo repeats his obsession for the umpteenth time. It's getting tedious
La gata is trying to drape herself around Olegario; he keeps swatting her away; all he really wants is his santa. He cannot understand why WHY WHY she won't be his wife. After all he's done to please her... He looks genuinely perplexed. "Aha, we'll take a vacay to Europe; that'll fix everything... Crayzee time! Will Nuria ever get a clue?, especially after he throws her bodily out the door.
LA CAPILLA DEL HOSPITAL
Lucha prays (rather audibly) while flashing back on scenes in which Diablo showed his true colors, threatening her & her kids. She is interrupted by a "doctor" wearing scrubs and a face mask. Nice disguise, Dan. Didn't fool me for a minute. He lifts off the mask; they kiss.
They have to figure how how to proceed. They're going to need proof to hang Lil & Diablo; Lucha's going for broke: she's going to go back & behave as if nothing's amiss with her "husband" so they can set him up. She wants every one of them behind bars. Dan isn't keen on this idea, of course. He gives her pause when he mentions bringing the kids back into this charade. Her plan, which isn't really a plan is to hang out at mom'n'dad's for a while until she thinks of something. Lucha is plotting to find out Oleg's Achilles' heel. Dan & Lucy swear undying love.
Dan runs around with his surgical mask up; he pleads with Sor Mili to provide asylum for Marina in the guise of a patient. Mili's not thrilled with the idea and she doesn't have a bed to spare; but...she could let her stand in for the vacationing Sor Pilar. It would mean dressing up in a nun's habit. "Nuh-uh-uh," says Marina, elaborating colorfully on her distaste for those hipocritas. And what about my patients, my appointments? Dan & Luch gang up on her. "Forget about your usual life; the minute you signed on to help Daniel everything changed. Marina's pretty stubborn, but what choices has she got? I'm not sure she really understands the danger she's in, poor thing.
HOSPITAL
Abel runs into Elena: "¿Pasa algo?" ""Just leave me alone." She knits her brow in concern. He goes off to pick up Adri, who is finally out of her hospital duds, and wearing a cute shorts & top outfit, because today she is getting sprung from the joint. She looks up and says, What's up? Why the long face? He gets tetchy and says "nada," why can't you all just leave me alone? Let's go" The head out to:
A RESTAURANT
for lunch with the little family. Abel's head is in the clouds, over this turn of events with his significant "other." Lunch isn't working out: A&A are on completely different wavelengths; he cuts out on her. She seems concerned.
DISREPUTABLE DEN OF EVILDOERS
Oleg enters calling for his troops. The drug operation is on; He lectures them: No screwups. She assures him it's all going to go OK because she, personally will examine the product. (Hah!) He praises her progress as a seasoned criminal, and regrets not accompanying them, but he's got to resume the role of Rafael Montes. He warns them not to pull a fast one [he's leaving himself wide open here, if you ask me.]
HOSPITAL, CORRIDOR OF ALL GOOD NEWS
Elena & Carlos discuss Abel's brusque behavior. Carlos tries to explain how difficult it has been for Abel to go through the "coming out" process. Elena thinks it something more, on top of the long list of miserable things the family has had to suffer. She mentions that recent thing with Lucha being drugged by that guy. Carlos does a double-take. "You mean....?"
Carlos runs into disguised-as-a-doctor Dan in Sor Mili's office. "Whoah-ho bro!, way to go!." Warm hugs; happy to see Dan alive. Enter Marina, disguised as a nun; well, she tried anyway, but the earrings & makeup will have to go and it would be nice if she'd button up her collar. The good madre dubs her Sor Caridad (an interesting choice considering Marina's singular selfishness). She is introduced to the other nurses and touted for her great skills with psychiatric patients. I'm not convinced about her skills with a bedpan.
CASA DURAN
Chelo snuggles her mini-Vic. Ig & Fern appear; he wants to sell the place and get out. The business is broke; the rats have ruined them. Our unsinkable Chelo suggests a partnership using her money; they can give the place a facelift, rehabilitate their reputation... (wait a minute didn't they already do this a few weeks back?) Suddenly Abel cruises past wearing an enormous pair of ultra-dark RayBans. Methinks he's been crying a bit and wants to play Jackie Kennedy. He has issues of his own and couldn't give a rat's patootie about the restaurant's image problems. He just wants to die.
POLICE HQ — AT THE GYM
Pablo punches a bag off in a corner while El Bruto Vidal runs his boot camp with the rest of the (male) cops; they are having a martial arts demo, "you know Tae-Bo or Jiu-jitsu or one a them". Bruto insults his manhood & challenges the stand-offish Pablo (who knows better than to get into an unequal combat) and we have basically a repeat of the famous Gladiador scene when Pablo had to prove his fighting worth to El Diablo. Of course Pab creams the guy in 2 seconds. Bruto grinds his ugly teeth.
BACK AT THE HOSPITAL OF EVEN MORE "MIS"ERY
Carl & Dan try to figure out the best course; Lucha's safety is paramount. Carl nods knowingly, referring to the date-rape drug incident, which is complete news to Daniel. Carl, the gossipy ninny, throws gas on the fire by saying right out "What, you didn't know? that Lucia was raped?" (which we know is not true, because Lucia in her unconscious stupor protected herself with the magic word: "Daniel") Well, whaddya think Dan's response is?
Lucha is with a patient when Dan busts in demanding the facts! She tries to hustle him away. In front of the patient he asks: "Did he try to rape you?"
FIN
"The Bible"
"Telemundo announces the premiere of the first ever Spanish version of the Emmy-nominated, epic mini-series, The Bible (La Biblia) on March 25th at 8pm/7c." (first shown in English in 2013)
(hmm, mini-series?)
read about it here...

wow, excellent recap lxv!
thanks for taking us along.
I've been watching this show for how long and I still can't believe Adriana has her hair cut shorter on one side than the other (must be a styling trick) and she tilts her head to the long side, well, more to keep the hair from covering her eye.
hmm, wasn't Lucia praying for a sign when Doctor Dan shows up? I guess I have been overruled on this matchup.
say, doesn't Abel and Adriana live in the same place now, his room, so does he figure on being alone, until Adirana walks home?
That was a nice moment Cayetana and Andrea had last night, with Caye telling her about her brother who died (how did the girls not know about this before?!?!) and sounding like she was looking forward to having a grandson. Is Cayetana maybe redeemable, or is this just a classic tool in the abuser's toolchest, to be nice once in awhile to keep your victims hanging around? She did seem sincere, but that doesn't mean she doesn't subconsciously use her rare nice moments to keep her daughters under her control.
Also, no patience for Cayetana's wailing about how she's "lost" two of her daughters. You didn't lose them, weirdo. They moved into town. You'd think a woman who has had a child actually die would comprehend the difference.
I thought the brothers and Veronica were pretty close, and isn't she friends with Irina and Sofia also? Why did none of them go to the wake? I know Vero's witchy snob mom would have sneered at the guys at least, but shouldn't they have given Veronica their condolences anyway? Do they not know that her father died?
I wish anyone would ever tell Andrea anything. Her blind belief that Leo is a good person is cringe-inducing.
Still have no use for Patricia.
deb Love your comments, thanks. Only got minute, but you mentioned something that reminded me of how irked I was that Abel didn't even bother to escort his wife and her newborn home from the hospital. She's just had surgery, she's a new mother. That baby is days (not weeks or months) old. Common courtesy, common sense? What am I missing? And yes, her hair has always bugged me, but perhaps its a sign of her somewhat wayward, single-minded personality.
yes, the wake was kind of strange, I guess Miranda didn't want any low life there, but 'ding', here is Soledad and Pablo, what?, I'm thinking Soledad must have hardly known Octavio.
and didn't Miranda kind of explain Octavio's death to Cayetana as a reaction to the non-marriage of Dario and Irina, cringes all around.
and of course Leo has to snuggle up to Veronica, to offer his sympathies, Isabella Castillo (Veronica) is pretty good with the creeped out looks, and doesn't he say to himself, they are both the same, referring to Alma.
question, did they mention earlier that Veronica has a fiancé, boyfriend, or something where ever she was living?
ok, so the girls find a present from Ignacio to Alma in the apartment, which must be full of signs.
so... the boys revenge plan, which was shaky at best, seems to have gone out the window, so what is plan now, and what do they gain by keeping up their lie?
and did Beatriz say treatment and 'investigation', upon her miraculous recovery?
LXV- and isn't the baby premature, but Adriana is cured now because the birth is over, right?
I get a kink in my neck watching Adriana,
I wonder if anyone even gave her a door key.
The boys seem to be stuck in brain freeze mode. They don't know what to do about anything now. They worry that the ladies will never forgive them if the find out they lied about their identities, so they just do nothing. Do they think they can get away with this forever? While they still have stuff like that necklace and note in their apartment? No; they aren't really thinking much at all. Of course, if they told the whole truth, they would reveal themselves as idiots with no sense of fairness or ethics. Why were they going to get back at the parents by tormenting the ladies who had nothing to do with what happened to Alma? Yeah, torture the innocent, good plan, dudes. That's justice!
I think at this point they should come clean about their real last name and family, but they'd really have to play up the "we were irrational with grief" angle to get any sympathy, I think. I wouldn't blame Sofia and Irina at all if they walked away and never spoke to them after finding out about their plan for revenge. I know *I* would be seriously pissed off. I mean, it would be one thing if they were the ones who hurt Alma and took the Gallardo family's farm, but they had nothing to do with it! And it doesn't say ANYTHING good about their characters that they ever thought this was a good way to get revenge.
Love that Beatriz has foiled her evil servants' plan again. I didn't hear anything about "investigation" from her, but I might have missed it. I was also hoping Beatriz would fall in love with one of her doctors or something. Her crush on Sam does not compute. He isn't that great.
LXV, I just learned a new sentence in Danish, Jeg er en glad pingvin (I am a happy penguin) and somehow it describes my feelings after reading your wonderful recap. Thank you so much!
I couldn't believe that Roxy and Memín allowed themselves to be lured away by the promise of an helado since only the day before, Roxy overheard the truth about her stepdaddy. I guess a lifetime of deprivation makes you vulnerable to sweets...
And yes, I couldn't believe Abel just left poor Adri and Santiago alone like that. I haven't said anything about this before because we just assume that all things medical are written, to put it politely, by the seat-of-the-pants. But come on -- a woman with severe pre-eclampsia is actually at greatest risk in the days following delivery. So Adri should hardly be home-free. Oh well.
As for her hair, I've always kind of liked it. It we're talking tilt (and we are, I guess), it is the Diablo's head tilt that maddens me. It is there for Rafael, but it really becomes prominent when Raf-->Olegario. That's when I get a kink in my neck!
Sor Caridad? So Sor Milagros has a nice sense of irony after all!
And Doctor Danny busting into a patient's room like that? He is such a CHILD! (Telling him that the Diablo abusó de Lucha was the equivalent of waving an ice cream cone in his face.)
¡Últimas Semanas!
Duenos: yes, I want Vero to stick around too but she's playing with fire both David and Anas may be hazardous to her health.
Tieere: The brothers are clueless and have no idea how to solve this mess and keep lying. They did not go the velorio as to not caused any more problems. But they are going to the funeral so they said.
Loz Miz: Daniel is way too impulsive for his won good, jeez pull Lucia away first before you blab like a ninny. Lucha is playing with fire and Diablo knows hse's on to him. Dios mio must see TV. Oh, thanks for the stellar recaps.

Am I a bad person for being disappointed that Marina is still alive?
"Suddenly Abel cruises past wearing an enormous pair of ultra-dark RayBans. Methinks he's been crying a bit and wants to play Jackie Kennedy." I have never understood why people wear huge sunglasses to try to hide the fact that they're crying, when everyone knows that they're crying.
Excellent recap, as usual Lxv.

Thanks, LXV. My favorite line was ...Lucia in her unconscious stupor protected herself with the magic word: "Daniel".
Yes, Marina's still alive and with her usual whining.

About pre-eclampsia: what I remember from my days in Labor & Delivery is that the only cure for this disease is delivery of the fetus. It can be mild or severe. Many women can bring a pregnancy to term, but it's very touch and go. Terminations & premature deliveries are common. The disease resolves immediately postpartum, EXCEPT as I just learned, in rare cases; Post partum preeclampsia is a very dangerous condition, when it does occur. (thank you google) I think our Adri is probably pretty healthy, but that baby was at least 4-6 weeks early. So, why they were pushing him around in a stroller through the public thoroughfare is beyond me. Most hospitals will not discharge you unless you've got transportation & a responsible escort. Adriana had neither. So coincident with Ultimos Capitulos, we are also cruising into BeanieTime! Los Mis has been astonishlngly free from improbabilities of this sort, but it couldn't last, alas.
El Señor EC I'm already mourning her loss, poor thing. We know she's toast. It's only a matter of how & when.
glad pingvin I'm delighted you're delighted. I had a great time writing it. And thanks for correcting my spelling of helado. This is one place I welcome all the help I can get. Good point about Roxi and the reveal. I had forgotten she knew that about her stepdaddy. Must'a been some pretty good ice cream.
Tks so much Novelera, super recap, as always.
Probably JC's hate for papa has sth to do with mamas death.

Veronica does have a fiance and last week she was in trouble with her adoptive mom over her relationship with Soledad, if I remember correctly, but it was played off by Octavio that Miranda was just upset because Veronica wasn't planning her wedding and thinking about her fiance, etc.
I heard 'investigacion' too. In Spanish that means 'research,' so I heard it as an experimental treatment help saved the day. I am not all that great with Spanish though, so I could be wrong. Novelas are helping me with my Spanish comprehension. It beats textbooks!
Miranda did throw Dario and Irina under the bus for Octavio's death. Dario says,'Not Nice.'

It's not so strange that Anastasia is giving Adan a change to fix Vero. She made it clear that she cares about her employees by insisting that she go to the funeral of those boys, and help their families. (Would have been more help if she hadn't gotten them in to drug dealing, but whatever). And Adan seems to have made himself useful to her, coming up with the perfume plan, etc. As long as he's important and he can keep Vero under control, she should be willing to give him a pass. At least this once. But if Vero can't keep quiet, then she needs to get that divorce and leave the state. Doubt she'll get a second chance.
Normally I don't approve of violence, but I'm totally ok with Conrado shooting off a bit of Sergio. It's the least he can do for Erica (after he destroys that film of course).

What a fantastic recap, lxv! Thank you so much!!
You have made it possible for me to follow this wonderful telenovela, then you have made it live! I can actually SEE it through your superb recaps! What a gift - in you, and to give to us! You are a remarkable writer.
Pablo "takes off his shades and kisses her hand like the true caballero he is, completely debonair with a winning smile and adorable flourish as he takes off with no heavy weather. [Sigh, your recapper has just melted onto the floor] …. " :D
I agree, too, "It was a refreshing bit of acting & a nice turning point." Very nice. And even more so last night's show, as they finally get to really believe they are together, at last. Sweet, moving.
The actor playing Dr. Mallorca, "[Claudio Lafarga (I had to look up his name) does a terrific job with this scene, conveying misery & desperation; I like how he's handling the awkwardness in these scenes.]" Yes, he is! Did you notice he is even showing signs of his condition in his face, head and neck? A slight, gradual change, just as it would be. Excellent acting, and a very sad story. So, it looks as if it might be Parkinson's. That is interesting. There is usually an environmental factor there, combined with a genetic factor. I hope they keep informing with this story line.
"Gonzo won't come clean with Abel; he keeps lying about his old lover. Abel sputters …. He tries to play hard & tough just to make Abel go away. He succeeds."
I did not ever catch, or don't remember, whether Gonzalo ever gave Abel reason to believe that, if he came out, and ended his false marriage, they would be together. Do you know? I know he showed interest in Abel, but I mean something more, implying commitment, or even the possiblity of it? Or did Abel just presume that?
Anyone?
"[Olegario] cannot understand why WHY WHY she won't be his wife. After all he's done to please her... He looks genuinely perplexed." Yes! Sometimes he really does seem to be buying his own hype, doesn't he? It is clear Oleg is a sociopath, but still, to lose all sight of who he is through Lucia's eyes seems almost like split personality!
Abel: "He just wants to die." Yes! He did say that, too, didn't he? Well, apparently he meant it! Tonight's show is going to be jam-packed!
"Lucia in her unconscious stupor protected herself with the magic word: 'Daniel' " Just … perfect.

deb, thank you for that info on La Biblia. Did it happen to say how many episodes in the mini-series? Isn't that in the same time slot we will be offered El Jardinero? So confusing!
Also, "I still can't believe Adriana has her hair cut shorter on one side than the other …. " Me neither! LXV"but perhaps its a sign of her somewhat wayward, single-minded personality."
And: " … so does [Abel] figure on being alone, until Adirana walks home?" Very good point. It makes it all the more cruel of him, to know she would be the one to come home to find him suiciding.
LXV: "Common courtesy, common sense? What am I missing?" Yes!!
Adding last night's pill bit (suicide attempt, or ideation, either way), I'd call it some serious mental cruelty, on top of the physical endangerment of leaving her alone, with the baby!, at such a ctitical time!
Also, thank you so much for the added information about pre-eclampsia!
NovelaMaven: "Jeg er en glad pingvin"! " … my feelings after reading your wonderful recap" Love it!
Thank you for the reminder about Roxy having overheard the truth about "her stepdaddy." It did make me wonder, though, were we ever sure she did hear that exact part of what she overheard? i remember us wondering, at the time. (I am still catching up on previous episodes, so I will keep an eye and ear out for that, and post if I do find out.)
"Sor Caridad? So Sor Milagros has a nice sense of irony after all!" LOL
"He is such a CHILD! (Telling him that the Diablo abusó de Lucha was the equivalent of waving an ice cream cone in his face.)" YES!!
El Señor EC: "Am I a bad person for being disappointed that Marina is still alive?" LOL
Just more honest than the rest of us, perhaps?
Gratitude, all.

So, why isn't she seeming more scared of him? Why so enjoying the ice cream outing??
Maybe she is afraid NOT to seem that way with him? - thinks she is better protecting her family that way? hmmm ....

thinking update on my previous-post question about Roxy:
I think NovelaMaven had a strong theory in "I guess a lifetime of deprivation makes you vulnerable to sweets... " (the kids had become a little conflicted over their new material joys lately.)
That thought similar to LXV's "Must'a been some pretty good ice cream."
Yes, yes, I can see that.
hmmm ....
Aficionada
Aficionada I am so enjoying your recap!
"Sneers, flames about shooting out his eyes." Yup!
The airport lobby scenes had to do with Genaro pleading with Liliana to quit the whole business and go off with him. She sneers at his feelings for her and flounces off, leaving him to stew in his own poisonous brew, I felt a slight pang for his pathos; but I think the point of the scene is that the scales are finally beginning to fall and with it the realization that he'll never attain her affection. His face was set with dark thoughts by the end of scene.
I was afraid the honcho at Police HQ was the same "Commissioner of Public Safety", (if I'm not mistaken), who sponsored & introduced the new jefe, El Bruto Am I wrong? is this guy in the know, or in the pay, of the corrupt senator? Are our good cops going to have to fight their way through even more layers of corruption and injustice?
"Fern snarls about her bastard kid?!" — and I'd had such hopes for her rehabilitation. But I think Chelo did that so the baby would win her over. Seems to be working...a little?
About Roxanita: "So, why isn't she seeming more scared of him? Why so enjoying the ice cream outing??" "Maybe she is afraid NOT to seem that way with him? - thinks she is better protecting her family that way? hmmm .... " or maybe it's just Beanie-time at Caray Caray!
Poor Abel, I had thought he was just being a prima donna; I confess, I have never warmed up to this character; but maybe it's because the actor doing such a fine job of portraying someone who's uncomfortable in his own skin. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they get to him in time to save him. I forget who it was mentioned his potential role as a pillar of strength for the stricken Gonzalo. I wish that could still happen; after he faces his own fears & limitations. But he has to be rescued first!
Oh the frustration! For once the good guys are not 2 steps behind, then Pablo goes and opens his big mouth and reveals what they know! Just like when Daniel revealed to Liliana that Pablo was working undercover. Why?!
Anyway...
"About Roxanita: 'So, why isn't she seeming more scared of him? Why so enjoying the ice cream outing??' 'Maybe she is afraid NOT to seem that way with him? - thinks she is better protecting her family that way? hmmm .... ' or maybe it's just Beanie-time at Caray Caray!"
Don't forget that El Diablo was the man who took them off the streets, gave them toys & all the food they can eat, and took them to live in a mansion. He has been good to them compared to most other adults. He hasn't tried to sell them in Tijuana, like what Nuria and Rockie wanted to do.
-El Señor EC
El Señor EC Very good point!: "Don't forget that El Diablo was the man who took them off the streets, gave them toys & all the food they can eat, and took them to live in a mansion. He has been good to them compared to most other adults. He hasn't tried to sell them in Tijuana, like what Nuria and Rockie wanted to do."
and yeah, Pablo shoulda kept his trap shut!
How dear, kind and encouraging you are, lxv!!
THIS completely caused tears to fly from my laughing eyes: " ... or maybe it's just Beanie-time at Caray Caray!"!
Thank you thank you!!
And for filling me in on the airport scene with Liliana and Genaro. And this: " ... but I think the point of the scene is that the scales are finally beginning to fall and with it the realization that he'll never attain her affection. His face was set with dark thoughts by the end of scene."
Do you get the impression that he might be considering turning against her, or all of them?
Before I go on replying, I am wondering what you, lxv, and you, El Señor EC, are referring to in this: "and yeah, Pablo shoulda kept his trap shut!"
El Señor EC: "Oh the frustration! For once the good guys are not 2 steps behind, then Pablo goes and opens his big mouth and reveals what they know! "
Aficionada
lxv: "I was afraid the honcho at Police HQ was the same 'Commissioner of Public Safety' ... is this guy in the know, or in the pay, of the corrupt senator?"
That would explain his simply shutting Pablo down and walking away. Ironically, earlier I was posting, and lost the post, about how I do not watch the screen with my eyes a lot of the time, but especially when I am making notes to recap. So when I looked at him, I couldn't place him, at all.
Anyone??
And: "But I think Chelo did that so the baby would win her over. Seems to be working...a little?" Thank you for telling me it was Chelo. I agree, it did seem "to be working ... a little." I was surprised by the tenderness in her eyes once she realized he was there, so deal. A brief glimpse of what she Could be.
Very good point about Abel: " ... maybe it's because the actor doing such a fine job of portraying someone who's uncomfortable in his own skin." That definitely rings true, watching him, because sometimes he seems otherwise for a moment, implying he has some hidden strengths. In fact, when he was with Adriana in the hospital, joking about "the policeman," and was able to put her feelings first for even one second, he looked like a while other person to me. But then, zoom, he fell again! I too hope they get to him in time. He could turn out to be that "pillar of strength for the stricken Gonzalo," because he also showed signs of putting Gonzalo's feelings first, finally. So, he has it in him, but only "after he faces his own fears & limitations. But he has to be rescued first!" Yes!
El Señor EC: "He has been good to them compared to most other adults. He hasn't tried to sell them in Tijuana, like what Nuria and Rockie wanted to do." So TRUE!
Thank you so much for your deeply moving reflection of what those two darling kids have been through, and how such rare kindness might be, would be, involved in their relationship with Olegario. It is his best place, too, really, considering all. He is almost honestly good when he is interacting with them.
I think what NovelaMaven wrote, "I guess a lifetime of deprivation makes you vulnerable to sweets... " said exactly that too.
And i noticed that little acting genius playing Memin has played him showing a bit of guilt at wanting more at times when he really knows it would not be best for all, like when he wished out loud they didn't have to move, even knowing how much Lucia has to, and that they are not safe there.
You have a loaded capitula to recap tonight, El Señor EC! I can't wait!

I did get some more from one part the video let me see of itself.
Lucia knows that Olegario didn't succeed in raping her. "Women know these things," she replied to Daniel's challenging her on being so sure. Daniel was wild, with his, "What if he kissed you? What if he put his asquerosas manos - his filthy hands - on you?!" with his eyes wide with horror! "¡Cálmete!" Lucha tells him.
So many other pieces I can not, that I hope some here can fill in.
With thanks

Aficionada, thank you so much for your recap. You brought the episode back to life and you certainly hit on all the high and low spots. And that's not even mentioning the many great lines. To cite only one:
"Funny, Marina pretending to pray."
About Pablo keeping his trap shut:
He actually strategized at the end when bad jefe Vidal asked him what he had told the Secretario (and yes, he was one of the higher-ups who was pressured into hiring Vidal in the first place). Pablo said: My informant told me about a shipment coming from OAXACA (We know that the shipment is in VERACRUZ so this is going to give the bad guys a false sense of security, right?)
Then Vidal tells Pablo that he is fired (estás despedido), which seemed a little late in coming, if you ask me. Pablo spits back that he's leaving on his own steam (yo solo me voy).
In the scene where Olegario is waiting for Lucha to show up at the Penthouse, he is cursing her, having decided that she is standing him up (¡Maldita miserable...!) Then suddenly she appears, his angel in black, and he is all St. Rafael, willing to agree to her conditions, "sin trampas, sin drogas."
LXVMaybe I didn't express myself clearly. Yes, it is a truism that the only cure for pre-eclampsia is delivery, but the woman continues to be at very high risk postpartum, especially in the first six hours, but also over the first few days. She would be monitored very closely and her treatment would not be abruptly discontinued. Normally the risk declines over a period of weeks until the problem is finally considered resolved; if she is doing well, she is monitored as an outpatient. (I don't usually say stuff just to say it. Seriously, dude...well, maybe that)
NvMv Thanks for all of your clarifications! Especially about Adriana's (lack of appropriate) postpartum care.
And for remembering that Pablo planted the wrong info about the destination of the drug shipment.
Beautiful image about St. Rafael (you prompted me to look him up.) Raphael is an archangel of Judaism, Islam and Christianity and an angel in Mormonism. (it's safe to say he covers a lot of bases). He is known as a healer. He is also the patron of the blind, of happy meetings, of nurses, of physicians and of travelers.
Dearest NovelaMaven, thank you so much for your kind, encouraging words that mean so much to me!!
And thank you for filling in so many pieces!
Ah! Yes! I get it about Pablo now!! You are saying it was a feint, yes? All intentional? If so, I am very relieved, because it is late to make any huge mistake with that shockingly vicious mob they are dealing with. Pablo seems like the ultimate professional at his work, so I'd like to hope he is keeping things intact.
About Oleg and Lucha, I was confused by their referring to the drugs and traps, and, I thought, force - no? Are you saying that they talked openly about the fact that he drugged her and tried to force her? It seemed pretty casual the way Lucia said it, "sin drogas?" didn't it?
[By the way, I am pleased to have this chance to say I don't know WHO is recapping tonight, sorry al!! Whoever does, is doing a hot show!! :D And i can't wait]

There were two interesting twists last night.
First, after Analia spends the whole night in the closet, watching her bum of a husband Alejo have sex with Lidia, she watches Lidis leave, and Alejo fall asleep. She sneaks out and later catches up with Lidia. She tells Lidia something like "I know you did it with my husband, did he tell you he was leaving me? He always does that with all his girls on the side. But of course, he's not leaving. I bet this happened to you before, right? Well, let's teach him a lesson". And they're going to, as they set up a trap for Alejo for the next day.
The other twist was with Erica. Conrado's raging mad at Sergio, and pointing the gun at him, demands that he show him the film, which he reluctantly does. Conrado is just about to pull the trigger when Ansa (tipped off by Renato as to where Conrado was) bursts in, says hold it! She then says they NEED Sergio. They'll use his x-rated film business to launder their money, and this will also solve their tax problem! Sergio normally spends $25,000 on making a film, she'll pay him $100,000 a film, and they'll all get rich!
Anas sells it to Conrado, and also informs Erica. Erica says, if you go ahead with this, I'll.....Anas jumps in, you'll WHAT?! Erica shuts up.
About tonight's recap -- I was planning to do it.

About Pablo -- yes, the misinformation he gave to Vidal was a feint, though when he approached el Secretario, he really hoped the man would not be on the payroll of the cartel. I don't see that he gave anything away though -- that Vidal is a pawn of the cartel is clearly a secreto a voces
About Olegario and Lucha --
"I was confused by their referring to the drugs and traps, and, I thought, force - no? Are you saying that they talked openly about the fact that he drugged her and tried to force her? It seemed pretty casual the way Lucia said it, "sin drogas?" didn't it?"
Yes, Lucha said matter-of-factly: No tricks, no drugs. And he agreed. Remember that they had talked about this before, and the earlier conversation was less cool-headed, as I recall.
Wow, Miranda is THE WORST. Even when she should be profoundly grieving she can't stop picking on everyone. I was agog that she cut off Cayetana because she blamed Irina not marrying Dario for Octavio's death. And she was mad at Caye for not forcing Irina to go through with the wedding! Why exactly does she want Dario married to a woman who does not want to be married to him? That woman is so warped.
I'm getting irritated at the brothers for not wanting their girlfriends to earn money and help pay for things. What century are they living in? How insecure are they? (Very insecure, for the most part.) Sammy, your whiny child girlfriend has a job. Why can't she help pay for the motel room? Or get an apartment? Or at least stop complaining about it? Arturo and Flavio, of course Sofia and Irina need to work. Even if you were the manliest men who ever manly manned, they still need something to do. Playing housewife is only going to make them go crazy.
I understood Arturo wanted Sofia to rest because of the accident and risk to the baby, but I thought she got sent home from the hospital with the okay for nonstrenuous activities. I don't know why she couldn't go out to the ranch, too, and at least have a change of scenery and do some of the less physical tasks. Oh, right, because she had to be left alone in the apartment to be vulnerable to Leo.
I did get a good laugh out of Irina asking Dario to give Flavio a job. That was hilarious. She should be looking for a job for herself. I like her and Flavio, but not a lot of patience for Flavio rejecting her idea of getting modeling work because he doesn't want other men looking at her. He does know there are kinds of modeling other than Playboy stuff, right? But she could also get a job as a sales clerk in a boutique, or something like that. She doesn't have a lot of qualifications but there's no reason she couldn't get a fairly decent job. She probably has contacts in that arena.
I want Andrea to do a thorough investigation through all the ranch business and find out about the shady stuff Leo has been doing. Surely the deals he had with the suppliers were shady, right? I was surprised she didn't press that guy more on the deals Leo had made.
And could it be more obvious that Leo was planting the cattle on Beatriz's land?
Julia- Irina, Sofia & the brothers agreed that it would be disrespectful to go to the funeral because of the wedding fiasco.
Why is no one telling Cayetana about Sofia being drugged and raped by Leo? I am sick of Leonardo! He is not a regular novela antagonist but a certified psycho.
It looks like Leo had someone cut the fence between the ranches so Cayetana's cows would crossover to blame the brothers.
Beatrice/Nena is back. She asked for Patty's help in convincing Samuel to work for her. She offered Samuel VP postion at her bank during Lunch with the brothers.
Leo went to threaten Sofia again (get a restraining order already!). He told her the divorce was not finalized yet.
Someone please get Don Felipe another Lola/Gun.
Irina asked Dario to get Flavio a job at his Spa! He said no ofcourse. Why do the women in this novela think they are better at finding their galan a job?
Cayetana said no to giving Valverde the Gallardo ranch. She was disgusted with him poisoning her cows. She said no to his friendship request. He threatened her.Told her he would make a bad enemy to have.
I like Beatrice with Samuel, Andrea doesn't do anything for me.

NovelaMaven, I very much appreciate your filling in blanks for me! You know, I can not figure out how it is so, but I do not know when Lucha and Oleg talked openly about his drugging her, and so on. I have read through, maybe I missed it in a recap, but I know I missed it in the show itself. Was that in monday's capitulo? I am soon to see that video to fill gaps, so I will watch for it - especially in case I really DID see it, and have completely obliterated it from my mind.
One reason it struck me so about Pablo's deed being a feint, is because he is that martial arts wonder, so I imagine him thinking that way.
Something that gets me mixed up in this show is the overlapping of pro- and antagonists, the three sides of it all, too. It is rare to have a telenovela in which just about every character has been on the "bad" side of a steadfast protagonist, isn't it? That is why their removing Vicky so early surprised me so much - her being one who hadn't, at least that I remember. I don't know if that made sense.
Thank you again, so very much!
I am delighted you will be recapping tonight, NvMv, thank you! You have been great filling in for us!
I had just lost track of who when, yet kept posting it wrong! After all you have done to help us know that, I am sorry I still kept getting it messed up!

Julia- I totally agree with you that Andrea and Cowtana are blind to what Leo is doing. I can't wait for everything about Leo to come out. How will they feel about protecting someone who was destroying them?
The brothers need to tell the girls the whole truth ja!

Aficionada, this is from my recap of last Thursday, Feb. 19:
PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION
Rafagario swears he didn't touch Lucía, that he would never abuse her. That doesn't explain why he drugged her. He tries to justify his behavior: he has been very patient, but surely she can understand how he feels? She says she is confused and needs time to reflect -- time apart from him. She is afraid of him and she can't continue living with him like that. She was traumatized when she lived with Olegario, and now he, Rafael, seems too much like him.
LXVMy pleasure. Thanks for sharing the Raphael details. These writers have had some fun with names, haven't they?
El Señor EC, Yeah that Oaxaca bit really flew by -- I did a little double take because Pablo was so cool when he said it. [NM swoons ever so delicately]
Thanks, Hombre. This is my favorite show right now and I always look forward to your summaries.
Anas’ move to launder money through dirty movies is realistic, but yuck I don’t want to see Sergio come out ahead. Since this is the early 80s, I don’t think he’d have a digital copy of “Sugar Lips,” so I hope Conrado thinks to burn up the film and any copies.
Chad and Adán’s mom are all in Adán’s business about his friendship with Erica. It didn’t help that in the middle of the night Chad watched Adán walk up to Erica’s bedroom for a chat. And now both Adán’s mom and Lu gave Erica the cold shoulder when she came over the next morning trying to find out where Conrado is. Funny that the only one in the household not worrying about Erica is Vero.
Can’t wait to see what plan Analia has cooked up for Alejo.
Thank you for the info about last night's Tierra. I agree about getting Don Felipe another gun. I'm worried about
him as he is one of my favorite characters.
These telenovela people have got to start being more careful about opening their doors. I know it moves the plot along. Leo is so despicable. Even his "pretty face"
doesn't make me loathe him less. Good actor, though.
I like Dario. Enjoy his occasional English expressions.
NvMv: "[NM swoons ever so delicately]" ¡y a mi tambien! I've already picked myself up off the floor after his scene with Elena outside the courthouse.
I was thinking Pab should've kept quiet with the Secretario, thinking that guy might just put out a hit on him.
Now, I'm wishing, by some miracle ol' Dan might could elevate his sorry self to true galan status. I don't want to feel gypped at the final. Lucha's just so much "bigger" than he is.
Thanks, Hombre. You did a great job of identifying the two most interesting plot developments from last night's episode. I hadn't anticipated either of them. I was surprised that Lidia didn't seem curious about how Analia knew so much about what had just happened in the hotel room.
As for Erika--I can't imagine much that would enrage her more than what Anas has just arranged. It should be interesting to see what happens.
Aficionada, thanks for your recap! I also had questions about the episode that were cleared up by the comments/recappers.
So with all the discussion of Pablo, is it the general consensus that they'll seek revenge against him next? I always feel a little tense when the characters are having too much fun or making too many plans (Pablo y Elena). It was nice to see her finally give in to him last night. Unfortunately the writers are not done with the mentally unstable Ivanna and Rad who still want to break them up.
Is Deya travelling with the kids or is she staying alone in her apartment?
Lucha is only putting herself in danger by returning to Diablo, especially now that Daniel is free and interfering with his drug shipment. As long as they're apart Diablo only has to threaten one to control the other.
spanish student
Busy day. I'll have to delay the pleasure of reading Hombre's recap until later this afternoon.
But I wanted to say that I won't be able to recap Thursday's. It's book club night again and a good distance from my house, so I won't be home early enough to recap.
spanish student : "Lucha is only putting herself in danger by returning to Diablo, especially now that Daniel is free and interfering with his drug shipment. As long as they're apart Diablo only has to threaten one to control the other." Yes, I can foresee some interesting trouble there, but also, Diablo has left himself wide open by dispatching his two enemies to supervise the drug deal. With Genaro in the mood he's in, and Liliana looking out for number one and desperate for Dan, we could see some fireworks in the traidor department.
And how on earth did Lucia manage to get those two children enrolled & packed off to an expensive, exclusive summer camp overnight without filling out a single form or proof of vaccination or anything. I bet they don't have name tags in their sock and underpants.
LXV, I agree that something is a little off with Lili and Genaro. He's always been a follower so it'll be interesting to see what move he makes on his own. Of course if he betrays Diablo, Lopez might suffer the consequences. And Lili just seems overwhelmed with guilt and survival. Aylin Mujica has such emotional range and does an awesome job as a villain.
I guess the one advantage to Lucha's return is that she'll find the doll/ flash drive.
I thought I saw "ultimos capitulos" last night. Does that mean 2 weeks?
spanish student
Yes, that was an interesting episode once more, and with the twists Hombre mentioned.
The only thing I'd say is that I don't feel that sorry for Analia. Well, maybe some because of how hurt she seemed hearing what went on with Alejo and Lidia. But I think she told Vero the truth - that she doesn't love him anymore and is just there for the $$. And it's possible Alejo WAS telling the truth this time. He may have been planning to leave her for Lidia. But I'm sure they'll stay together now because of whatever trap Analia has planned. I did think, however, that Analia was going to pull a gun and shoot Lidia!
Chad is an imbecile. First he follows his girlfriend's father and then hints something is up. Adán never touched Érica. And Adán's mother is annoying.
I would be fine with Anas laundering money through Sergio's porno company (OK, maybe not THAT fine because the swine needs to suffer.), but I don't want that movie to come out. From what Anas said, it doesn't seem that the plan is to destroy Sugar Lips and put money into FUTURE pornos. Poor, poor Érica. I know it won't happen, but the best thing for her would be for Adán to get over Vero and marry her! She'd have a good man who would NEVER let her be exploited.
Just quick want to say thank you so much NovelaMaven, for re-posting that part of your recap from last thursday's capitulo!! I read and read and read it, and that whole recap, trying to figure out how I could have missed that - which i must have, OR I completely blocked my mind from taking it in because (as today) it seems so utterly unacceptable to me. Either way, miss it, I did. ?? AND I even quoted your very next paragraph in a comment later that same night!
Ah, the power - or stubbornness? - of the Mind.
Hasta luego and your recap!
Thank you, spanish student! I must say I shuddered at Pablo and Helena's happiness!! It is a Telenovela Syndrome, isn't it? Fear of beloved characters' happiness and future-orientation. "Unfortunately the writers are not done with the mentally unstable Ivanna and Rad who still want to break them up." Oh yeah ... groan ....

Los Miserables, miércoles, parte 1
CASA DURAN
Ignacio hears the commotion outside Abel's room. He gets the key, unlocks the door, and he, Adriana and Chelo rush in. They find Abel unconscious with an empty pill bottle at his side.
BOLA DE INEPTOS
Olegario mocks López and Vidal for being unable to control Pablo. Not only is Pablo a better fighter than the two of them put together -- "But the guy was a marine!" they whine -- he went over their heads and denounced Vidal to the Secretario! "But I fired him!" protests Vidal. Bad move, Olegario tells them. Their job was to watch him and now he's out of sight, gone who knows where on a department motorcycle. Vidal gloats that Pablo's information about cartel operations was false -- Pablo thinks they're getting a shipment on the Pacific coast. What a tool!
Radamés thinks there's something fishy about this information of Pablo's -- they should change their plan. Oleg won't hear of it. Lily and Genaro are in place in Veracruz and they know what they are doing.
ON THE WATERFRONT -- VERACRUZ
Pablo watches as Lily supervises the unloading of the big shipment, and Genaro lurks darkly in the background. Pablo calls in to Daniel. What can they do? They can't ask for help from the cops and they can't fight these guys alone. Dan has a plan. It's a little crazy, but it could work. Pablo needs to write down the license plates of the trucks...
PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION
Lucha wears the dress with the missing sleeve that she wore several scenes ago...I guess they shoot out of order, huh? She searches frantically through Rafagario's papers. She asks Rosa -- poor, if it weren't for bad luck, she'd have no luck at all Rosa -- not to tell Rafa what she's doing. No problem. Rosa confides that she is plenty nervous when Lucha isn't in the penthouse. El señor (no, not you, dear Señor EC) treats her like dirt and he brings creepy people around, like somebody they call La Gata. Nuria! Yes, that's it...and sometimes she spends the night here. "Who else?" asks Lucha. That hateful Radamés (Frying pan, have you met Fire?) and Lucha's ghastly sister Liliana, so full of herself, who shows up with a big, tall sourpuss of a man (un hombre altote y mal encarado). "Genaro," guesses Lucha.
ON THE WATERFRONT -- The wheels on the truck go SPLAT!
Pablo reports to Dan that the trucks are loaded. He runs ahead to place the arañas, or boards with nails sticking out of them, in the road. He hides behind some steel drums and watches the first truck drive right over the trap. The front tires are shredded and flattened and the truck is disabled, at least for the moment. Pablo hurries to catch the other trucks too. Daniel says he's giving the go-ahead to the muchachos. (What muchachos? León and Rodríguez?)
AFIAD -- WORKING THE MEDIA!
Marisela is in communication with Dan and Pablo and passes the truck license plate numbers to Rodríguez (who, frankly, doesn't seem that into it). But he does what he is told: He calls the transit people in Veracruz, identifying himself as Chief Daniel Ponce of AFIAD... Meanwhile, Marisela is calling NBC news (Is this our first product placement?)
MISERICORDIA -- ANOTHER CELL IS ACTIVATED
Elena interrupts Marina's cranky jeremiad about early awakenings, cold showers and watery oatmeal to pass along the data to Carlos. He'll put the info together, print it, and distribute it to the media.
IF IT'S FOR ME, I'M NOT HERE!
The big trucks with their squashed tires, as helpless as beached whales, are surrounded by Veracruz transit department officials and local patrol cars.
Back in the D.F., Vidal starts getting calls. First he tries to countermand "Chief Ponce's" orders, but he is soon overwhelmed by the tide of events. He leaves it to López to deal with the phone calls. But now another cop tells him the press is there -- newspapers, television, foreign correspondents! "I'm a dead man," moans Vidal, probably accurately.
WE'RE RUINED!
Not a single one of the trucks was able to leave the state of Veracruz. It is obviously the work of Daniel Ponce, the man Liliana insisted on saving from the Diablo, Genaro says. And the Diablo is going to use them as scapegoats. They are dead meat if they don't act fast.
LET'S DRINK TO THAT!
Pablo and Daniel clink beer bottles and rejoice over the seizure of the huge drug shipment (the largest ever in department history) the press feeding frenzy (it will surely go on for at least two weeks) and the exposure of Vidal as the corrupto that he is. How ironic that their part in this exploit will never be known.
Their attention is caught by a live television report from Veracruz...
In the Penthouse of Perdition, Lucha watches the same report. Rafagario joins her and she observes him as he digests the news ... Five trucks seized in Veracruz ... biggest seizure in Mexican history .... officials alerted by anonymous tipster ... Is he GONNA BLOW???
MISERICORDIA
Dr. Mallorca examines Abel briefly. Adri shows him the pill bottle. Stomach pump time.
PENTHOUSE OF PERDITION
Impressive. Rafagario is keeping it together. When Lucha gets the call about Abel, he insists on accompanying her to the hospital.
AFIAD
Alejandro calls out Marisela and Evaristo for not pulling their weight in his department. He is sure they've been colluding with that fugitive Daniel Ponce. He demands that they give him up and threatens them with the loss of their careers. They insist they know nothing.
MISERICORDIA -- THE FIRST DAY OF THE END OF YOUR STORY
Lucha greets her worried dad and then hurries in to see Abel. Marina nearly discovered when Diablo approaches her to ask for a glass of water for Ignacio, but she has time to scurry away when Diablo's phone rings. It is Daniel -- he gloats over his victory and predicts that this is the beginning of the end for his nemesis. As he listens to Daniel, Diablo's face tightens ominously and his lip twitches. Daniel continues relentlessly: "You're a laughing stock! A loser! And you'll be hearing from me very soon."
CELEBRATION IN VERACRUZ
Then it's fist bumps of victory for the outlaw cops. Pablo sounds a cautionary note: Marrero's cartel is still a huge network with a ton of money. But they've shown Marrero that he is vulnerable and they've made him afraid. Dan likes this taste of working undercover, but admits that what he really wants is to clear his name and return to the job he loves.
MISERICORDIA
Abel's room: The kid is going to be just fine. But poor Dr. Mallorca is stricken. He tells Lucha he is responsible for Abel's suicide attempt.
Waiting room: Bruja Fernanda blames Adriana for Abel's behavior. "Tell Ignacio his son took all those pills because of the way you hurt him." Adriana won't be baited. She says she cares deeply about Abel and that father and son need to talk.
Abel's room: "So many things have happened... when I did Adriana's surgery, I ... I said things to Abel that I shouldn't have...I didn't realize he was that fragile..." Before Dr. Mallorca can stammer out the truth, Abel regains consciousness. Mallorca slips out, leaving Lucha and Abel alone.
I TOLD YOU SO!
Olegario storms into Rad's office at the Faraón Hotel and rages. "Ponce again!" Rad can't reach Lily and Genaro. They must be hiding from them. But all Rad has to offer is an "I told you so." Olegario doesn't want to hear that. He needs money and he needs it now. And Radamés owes him all the money that Deborah stole. The Diablo demands his due. Immediately.
LIFE IS A ROAD...
And apparently it is paved with loving platitudes, many of which sweet Lucha murmurs in Abel's ears. She reminds him of all the people who care about him. But he is in a bleak and dark place and turns away, unable to listen.
AFIAD
Brass notes in the background? Alejandro finishes chewing out/threatening Marisela and Evaristo. Marisela shares a little tidbit with him: Lopéz shares the apellido Cabello with the traitor Genaro -- he is his nephew.
HOSPITAL CAFETERIA
Deya, who is sitting with Sor Milagros, pouts when Carlos approaches to ask the good sister about Abel. He agrees to see him about his troubling depression. Then Neno shows up with some yummy strawberries and cream and Deya gets all giddy, apparently completely unconcerned that her 'manita's little brother just tried to kill himself.
WAREHOUSE DE INEPTOS Y TRAIDORES
Well this is a surprise. Lily and Genaro have returned, despite their fears that Olegario is gunning for them. And indeed he is. The Devil himself runs in waving a gun in their faces and threatening to kill them on the spot. Lily tries to tell him that she is no traitor. She did everything she was supposed to do. She can't explain the leak. "How am I supposed to pay the Bolivians?" asks the Devil. She repeats that the plan was perfect. She has no explanation for what happened. Genaro begins to speak in her defense and gets a clout in the kisser for his trouble. But he gets the Diablo's attention when he proposes a way to recoup their investment: the drugs will be stored at the AFIAD before they are turned over to the army. That is the window of vulnerability.
SPEAKING OF WINDOW OF VULNERABILITY
Vidal's boss -- who appears clueless rather than corrupt, though sometimes it is hard to distinguish between the two -- lambastes him and says he is going to strip him of his title. He has made a mockery of their department and made heroes out of the little guys in Veracruz. The boss should have listened to what Pablo Riobueno tried to tell him.
Rodríguez makes a move on León. She is offended. She finds his obvious lust disrespectful.
Alejandro marches into Vidal's office and says he wants to interrogate López. At first, Vidal refuses, but Alejandro reminds him that after "Operation Veracruz," he's not really in a position to object to anything. He says López is a witness because he was on duty the night that Anselmo was murdered.
MARINA IS ASKED TO COMFORT THE DYING
The poor man asks Sor Caridad to take his hand. Is there really life after death? He is so afraid...
THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!
López takes umbrage at the interrogation, but Alejandro proceeds professionally. On the night of the murder, there was a black-out. It was provoked when someone handled the controls in an area only accessible by individually numbered cards. On that night, Alejandro was using a card with Daniel's number. How did he happen to have it? Did he 'clone' a copy? Did he steal the card from Daniel? (I'm not sure that all makes sense. I did my best, guys.)
DEYA'S PLACE
Daniel shows up with bags of sweets and toys and bursting with delight at the idea of seeing Lucía. Um...she's not here... He has a mini-tantrum when he learns she has chosen to go back to Olegario. "No puede ser" he mutters as he storms out the door. (At least Deya gets to keep the candy.)
IF DANIEL HAD MURDERED ANSELMO, HE WOULD HAVE BEEN SMARTER ABOUT IT
López denies any involvement in Anselmo's murder. Alejandro says the idea that Daniel would have strangled Anselmo with his own shoelaces is absurd. (We see Rodríguez observing the session through the glass.) The case is still open and Alejandro will continue to question López as often as necessary. López repeats with false bravado: Daniel Ponce is guilty.
López leaves. Rodríguez enters. What did he think of López's reactions? He looks and sounds like a guilty man. Alejandro thinks so too. But he is going to play him like a fish on a line, and reel him in at just the right moment.
GIRL TALK -- NO PAIN, NO GAIN
Marisela and Lucha chat in the cantina. Marisela wants advice on how to handle Rodríguez. She feels he treats her like just another of his conquests. Where's the romance? The flowers?the chocolates? the sweet nothings? And for him, lovemaking is like scoring a goal in a soccer match. Lucha tells Marisela that she has to think of herself as a woman -- a beautiful, delicate, feminine woman -- not just a police officer, and then Evaristo will see her that way too. She is a lady and he will have to woo her. "Si quieres azul celeste, pues te cueste" (If you want sky blue, it will cost you / No pain, no gain).
A HOTEL IN THE DF?
Pablo tries to keep hot-head Daniel from chasing after Lucha, but he can't hold him back.
MILAGROS
Sor Milagros enters the dying man's room in time to hear Marina assure him that there is an afterlife filled with love and peace and to see the man die, apparently comforted by her words. Milagros praises Marina. Marina says she lied, that she doesn't believe in life after death. Milagros believes Marina spoke the truth. "Los caminos de Dios son infinitos."
BUT DO THEY LEAD HERE?
Lucha returns to the penthouse and finds workmen hanging new curtains. Rosa tells her there's also a washing machine repairman in the other room. But there's nothing wrong with the washing machine... Just a darn minute ... Who's that creepy looking guy trying to hide his face under a baseball cap and a huge pair of horn rimmed glasses? It's .... Danny!

Your recap, and so fast, NovelaMaven! Thank you so much!!!
Critical capitulos now, and they keep us in such tension, I can't wait to find out! Back after reading!

Before that, though::
LXV: "And how on earth did Lucia manage to get those two children enrolled & packed off to an expensive, exclusive summer camp overnight without filling out a single form or proof of vaccination or anything. I bet they don't have name tags in their sock and underpants." lol
I am so glad to find i got it completely wrong, and nuestros escuincles are at a campamento! Thank you for clearing that up! I want them to be away and safe!!
Aficionada
I LOVE your detail, NovelaMaven, thank you so much! I just took as long reading as I would have to watch the show, and must say, I enjoyed it every bit as much! I got all of the story, without the increased tension, and the increased ads and avances!
"Vidal gloats that Pablo's information about cartel operations was false -- Pablo thinks they're getting a shipment on the Pacific coast. What a tool!" How SATISFYING!!! The actor who plays Vidal seems to really enjoy playing a bumbling egomaniac, you notice? And he has done it well enough for it to be a pleasure to see him brought down.
"Rosa -- poor, if it weren't for bad luck, she'd have no luck at all Rosa … " Yes! I feel that way for her too! Escaping Radamés to el Diablo?! Only to have Radamés turn up there as well! "Frying pan, have you met Fire?" indeed!
"Elena interrupts Marina's cranky jeremiad about early awakenings, cold showers and watery oatmeal …. " Yes, our Sor Caridad.
"And Radamés owes [el Diablo] all the money that Deborah stole." I do not know of this. Was it the money in the safe?
"The boss should have listened to what Pablo Riobueno tried to tell him." Says the Secretario who also ignored Pablo.
"Who's that creepy looking guy trying to hide his face under a baseball cap and a huge pair of horn rimmed glasses? It's .... Danny!" LOL The image described just does not fit the self-righteous lecture I am sure he will deliver, ah?
Wonderful recap, NvMv!!
It was especially timely for me, because I really do not like the cartel story-line, and it seems as if that is much more of the current capitulos than it had been.
Thank you, again, so very much!!

So when Cayetana caught Leonardo making out with a woman, she didn't see that the woman was Isadora Belmonte? I guess not since if she had, we wouldn't have had Leo and Isadora pretend that they had never been introduced.
Samuel looked very spiffy in his new duds.
Aficionada, Thanks for the lovely comment! I hope I didn't go TOO far into detail and lose the thread of the story...
"And Radamés owes [el Diablo] all the money that Deborah stole." I do not know of this. Was it the money in the safe?
Hmm. I can't answer that one because I had stopped watching at that point, partly out of disgust at the graphic violence early on in the story that made it seem like just another Telemundo narconovela, and partly because I was so besotted with and wrapped up in Reina de Corazones. :) I'm sure someone else will know.
I'm also a little confused about the identity of the higher-up who chewed out Vidal. I tend to mix up all these nondescript middle-aged guys in suits. It sounded as if he was the one Pablo had appealed to (in vain), and it also sounded as if he wasn't really a bad guy. Can anyone shed some light on this?
NovelaMaven! : Brilliant! Your sparkling & biting ("what a tool!")) wit was such a treat this morning as I settled in with my café before starting work. ¡Gracias!
"Lucha wears the dress with the missing sleeve that she wore several scenes ago...I guess they shoot out of order, huh?" with the intense production schedule for these TNs I'm willing to forgive a little, but yeah, that isn't a look for her.
And the vocab: "big, tall sourpuss of a man (un hombre altote y mal encarado)" ¡Gracias de nuevo!
"... Is he GONNA BLOW???" I sure thought so.
"He is sure they've been colluding with that fugitive Daniel Ponce." ...and how!
"Adriana won't be baited." that's what I like about this character; she doesn't toe anybody's line but her own.
You could have knocked me over with a feather when Lil & Gen returned to the "Den". Why...???
It's those mini-tantrums that alarm me about the (alas, inevitable, sigh) future of Dan & Luch.
I wasn't exactly pleased with Lucy's cant advice to Mari about acting like a real girl instead of the tomboy she really is. Surely Mari has identity & self-esteem issues but does that mean she has to start play-acting just to get the box of chocolates? Well, maybe she needs to re-think the chocolates, though, if that's what she really wants.
LXV, Aw shucks. Thank you!
I wasn't impressed with Lucha's advice either, but as you say, you do what you need to do to get your chocolates. What I have noticed is that ever since Evaristo got off the fence and said Marisela was the woman for him, the writers have been at great pains to present him as a real doofus. (Is that a consolation prize for the viewers so we don't have to feel bad for Adriana? So we can tell ourselves that he has a certain flair under the sheets, but otherwise he's not nearly good enough for her?)
Iggy strikes out again. I kept yelling at the screen for Vero to just get the hell out of there. I want to see La Güera and Flaco find their way back to each other. Lies and betrayal aside, these two still have deep love for each other.
Conrado is a disappointment. For pete's sake, just burn the film.
Not impressed by Analia’s “plan” but I am by her mission-focused coldness.
So what is up with LQ? Is he sick, or crazy? Maybe both? I didn't get this at all.
Thanks, NvMv, for another great read during my commute to work.
I also liked your assessment of Rosa..."if it weren't for bad luck, she'd have no luck at all Rosa". Don't know why she didn't leave when Lucha left, but then she's now Lucha's eyes and ears when she's away.
I actually enjoyed watching the actor who plays Vidal last night. He was quite comical in the midst of his powerlessness. Likewise with the shouting matches between Diablo and Radames who seems to be the only one willing to stand up to him even though he clearly fears him.
Deya's character stills seems to revel in childish behavior. At times it appears the youthful Neno is really the better fit for her.
I'm also at a loss as to what the writers have planned for the "couples matchup" with Marisela, Evaristo, and Adrianna. Doesn't seem that even Marisela knows what she wants.

Excellent work NovelaMaven!
About the money Deborah stole... Everything that Radames owns really belongs to El Diablo. El Diablo hides his money behind the "respectable" face of Radames. So when Deborah stole from her father, she was really stealing from El Diablo. Not a big problem until he finds himself in a bind with a deal gone wrong.
I sure have my work cut out for me with tonight's episode. I wish I could do it before going to bed, but I don't get to watch it until I wake up in the morning. :(
-El Señor EC
I haven't seen last night's yet, but Cayetana absolutely did see who Leo was making out with when she caught them in his office. Unless I'm completely misremembering that scene. Isadora was on his lap and they were pretty hot and heavy and Cayetana got a good long look before Isa scuttled away, right? Did she manage to hide her face that whole time?
Technically, Deborah didn't steal anything. Radames did sign over those properties to her to prevent Helena from getting anything.

spanish student : "I'm also at a loss as to what the writers have planned for the "couples matchup" with Marisela, Evaristo, and Adrianna. Doesn't seem that even Marisela knows what she wants."
I been so wrong before, so I'm NOT predicting anything. I hope Evaristo can rise above the doofus-ness the writers have plunged him into (Thanks NvMv. He is sojunior high, I'm gagging. Mari is genuinely pining for his attention, but not the kind he's dishing out lately.
And even though the handwriting was on the wall from the start, I'm still rooting for our Lucha to walk off into the sunset as an independent woman. Ain't gonna happen, I know. But maybe they will break all the rules and let Adri be the one to do that. She's feisty and seems untroubled by having no partner. She's sensible enough (and chastened by her one hot experience) not to be entirely libertine.
As for Marina—are they rehabilitating her with a teaspoon of borrowed religion? Or maybe she'll become a nun!!! That is if she doesn't get the comeuppance we've been predicting.
Our cabdriver Ramón is most likely still waiting in the wings for Chelo. Memin has Roxi, unless that snobby little rich kid horns in the action at summer camp. Pablo is solid with Elena, that is after he survives the foreseeable attempt on his life. ("But he's a marine!")
Who's Octavio going to get? And I'm sure you're right about our silly dolly Deya; she IS just about the right speed for the sweetie-pie Neno. I'm so turned off Carlos right now, I don't see anybody for him, except maybe Marina; they are both shrinks after all. Who am I missing? I've got to get back to work!!!!
El Señor EC : just saw your comment about watching in the AM; whatever, whenever, you give us is a plus! I hope you don't feel unduly pressured by this pushy gang. You always sum up things so accurately & concisely I look forward to your comments & recaps, whenever they appear.
spanish student, Thanks!
"Deya's character stills seems to revel in childish behavior. At times it appears the youthful Neno is really the better fit for her.'
If the novela insists on ending with a Noah's ark scenario, then I see Deya with Neno. They are definitely tal para cual, and the writers have already suggested (with Evaristo and Adriana) that it is possible to be a responsible father without necessarily marrying the mother of your child.
And if Marina lives to tell the tale, I see her with Carlos. Why not? They wear perfectly matching blinders.
El Señor EC, Thanks for clarifying the Deborah situation. Also, what LXV said!
What Érica actually said to Anas was, stay away from my man. Anas pretty much tells her, I’ll do what I want, it’s up to you to save your marriage if you can. Érica goes home, finally Conrado shows up, having gotten drunk and slept at the beach. Despite Érica’s repeated insistence that she didn’t do any of the sex scenes, Conrado is not convinced, he didn’t even watch the whole film, just the start made him want to barf, he did see Érica take off her clothes, guys were touching her, how can he believe she didn’t have sex with them? He starts getting really abusive, out in the driveway, prompting Adán to come up and PUNCH him, that’s no way to treat a lady! Vero comes out too, consoles Érica.
Chad may have told Lu yesterday that he wasn’t going to college, he was going to get a job, so he could stay close to Lu. Well, today he may have some problems with that, Lu is pissed at him for meddling, and saying he saw Adán with Érica. Daytona invites them both to a swim party at her house (she’s rich), and tries to get on Lu’s side, but Lu will never forgive her for what she’s done. But, replies Daytona, you have no proof! This doesn’t help matters, and before you know it, they’re fighting, and then we see the pool, and of COURSE they fall in. This is similar to Conrado, who was holding a wine glass, yelling at Érica, and I was thinking, that wine glass is going to be smashed in 10 seconds.....five, four...BOOM! Anyway, Lu’s not much happier with Chad than she is with Daytona. Daytona then asks her to get 10 kilos of pot! Yeah, right.
Silvana reams out Elias for working with Anas, how could you do that? Elias lies, and says he needed the money. Silvana thought maybe Elias was sleeping with Anas! But no. She warns him to watch out for Anas, who can’t be trusted. Elias later finds out that Anas is at the funeral of the young drug sellers. He searches a room (I think it was Gina’s), and finds a suitcase packed with Gina’s things, still there. This makes him more suspicious, and he goes to the funeral, confronts Anas, who says this is not the place. Later, Anas is livid, first accusing her Mom, who denies, who talked to Elias? Modesta assures her that there was no suitcase in that room, which makes it look as if someone put it there. Renato?
Leandro DOES bed the doctora! Somehow, she falls for his “charm”. Not only that, he begs her for some morphine, and she apparently gives it to him, because later, in a hotel room, he locks the door, takes out a syringe, injects himself in the arm, and goes into a total, drugged out state of ecstasy, collapsing on the floor in delight. Iggy gets a key, finds him, Leandro says I should have known about this drug before, it’s great! (I predict this is going to become a problem for Leandro). He also quizzes Paola about that guy she was seen with, and she tells him squat.
Analia is having a birthday party for one of her kids. Alejo arrives, gives the boy a BIG wad of cash, buy whatever you want, son. Analia has invited a special guest, who’s sitting with her back to Alejo, to this family birthday party, with decorations, cake, etc. Alejo is shocked to see that it’s Lidia! Analia says they met at aerobics class, and Alejo has never heard of aerobics, Analia telling him it’s a new form of exercise, where you SWEAT, and your body gets HARD, digging in the knife more and more with Alejo looking like a scared rabbit, Lidia sitting there in awkward silence.
Adán has been acting more forceful with Verónica, he WON’T sleep in the guest room, he’s going to FIGHT for his marriage, and Vero is wavering, doesn’t know what to do. So she goes to visit her friend “David”, telling him she actually did go the cops. Iggy asks her to describe which cop she talked to, but she just says he was older, normal looking. When she says the cop wouldn’t talk in the station, Iggy’s ears perk up, but he doesn’t say anything. Vero relates that they went to a restaurant, and really, she hardly told the cop anything, she was so conflicted. Iggy knows it’s time to make his move. He says it’s terrible that your husband treats you so badly. Wait a minute, says Vero, I never said that, how would you know? Ah, well, his being in drugs, I just figured he treated you badly. You need a real man. Like ME. Verónica, I must confess, I LOVE you. You’re the woman of my life. Vero is in shock, as Iggy kisses her. She kisses for a second, then pulls back, no, wait, you’ve got the wrong idea, we’re just friends. No, you’re wrong, says Iggy, we’re more than friends. So, Miss Verónica, remember that. And I know where you live. So you can’t get away from me!!!! He says this with a flat tone, he probably means it to be romantic, but she definitely takes it as a threat, and gets freaked out! Later, Adán asks her what’s wrong, but of course, she’s not telling.
And Sergio shows up, all excited about his new deal for the films. Érica is there, and she’s not happy at ALL.
She only saw Isadora's back side/head. I would have had a flashback of that distinctive red hair (but this is TN land).
I hoped to do a mini cap but I got a crazy day, sorry.
Star
wow, NovelaMaven!
talk about a book that you can't put down until you find out what happens,
and I even saw the show.
(Pablo), "gone who knows where on a department motorcycle."
interesting little quips in this writing, and you seem to catch them all.
hmm, I thought Lucia made it clear to doctor Dan that she was going back to Diablo,
to get the goods on him once and for all.
I was enjoying cop lady Marisela ripping off bits of food to chew on, snorting and grunting that Evaristo didn't treat her like a lady, she must have forgotten how her strip club undercover duty set the department on fire, (and especially Evaristo), I really like her, she has done the man's man thing and has earned the right to be treated with respect.
hmm LXV, I was thinking of Lucia's advice more as steps to a dance, with Evaristo being the gentleman, (which isn't him at all either), should be fun!
insightful and an interesting twist by the writers, this part where a psychiatrist is posing as a nun,
can a psychiatrist be saved?
hmm, did Diablo tell Radamés that he wants his money NOW, even if he has to SELL the hotel,
that must be ringing some alarm bells in Radamés' head.
on the money, earlier, Radamés remarked that half of what he owned belonged to Olegario, (who fronted the hotel and such), so when Deborah ran off with half, that meant what he still had, ALL belonged to Olegario.
deb, Thank you! I love your comments, even when you are talking about something I'm not even watching. They are an art form in themselves.
"I was enjoying cop lady Marisela ripping off bits of food to chew on, snorting and grunting that Evaristo didn't treat her like a lady",
Oh snap! How did I let that one get by me? You nailed that image perfectly.
And thanks for clarifying the Deborah/Radamés/Diablo money situation even further. HOTEL FOR SALE. MOTIVATED SELLER. MODERN SURVEILLANCE EQUIPMENT INCLUDED.
LXV, so the cab driver is still in the picture? I don’t recall seeing him at Vicky’s funeral (they bonded so well) or helping Chelo with the baby (his future grandchild). Guess his character is insignificant right now.
Like NovelaMaven, I'm betting on Deya and Neno. Have you ever noticed how Deya's face lights up whenever Neno appears? Perhaps she AND Carlos confused sex with love, or maybe she equates pain with love (she always complains that his words/actions hurt her). So that leaves Carlos with Marina, who with any luck will be humbled by the "teaspoon of borrowed religion". Interesting that she's paid to give advice (that people can use) but not the kind the patient wanted yesterday (reassurance of a divine plan(e)).
I had a "what if?" moment when I saw Octavio and Andriana in the chapel, then I realized that he's still in high school. Of course tns are notorious for fast forwarding a few years at the end so that a few years won't matter. I still like the idea of Adrianna with Evaristo but that seems unlikely.
spanish student
wow, this novela is so much more fun with Hombre's off-the-cuff descriptions!
good job!
Leandro must have got hooked on morphine when he was in the hospital, (which I think is still the pain killer of choice in extreme cases)
(I'm so used to some of the corny stuff Miguel Varoni does that sometimes I have a hard time taking him seriously).
wow, south beach, art deco, 70's styles, sprinkled throughout, loved the furniture in Gina's room.
I was waiting for Vero to spit out to David, the cop that wears the loud Hawaiian shirts
so much for the mystic and attraction of the secret affair,
that was quite a bucket of water Analia threw on that fire.
I'm still not sure about Anas' deal with Segio, (they seem to leave out as much stuff as they show us), wow, the earlier scene where he has been beaten to a bloody pulp, and raises his glass to toast that they are rich, (I wonder if Allstate is keeping a close eye on the writing).
don't know why Lu always ends up around Daytona, with Chad not being much more than a referee.
... and Elias meets with Salvador.
Samuel does wear a suit very well,
although Valverde seems to question his financial expertise,
or was it that he didn't want this big man standing in his way.
ka-ching!
Lucia recognizes the necklace,
(which points out that she was a confidant in Alma's affair)
(ah, Sol Rodríguez (Lucia) was in "Marido En Alquiler", the singing/dancing daughter).
I'm enjoying watching Andrea, young, probably a virgin, determined to do the 'right' thing as far as sex/marriage goes, there is a lot of pressure building up under that cork.
and Flavio, being pushed for marriage by Irina, in-a-week, can't without spilling the beans on his real name.
Leonardo, coming back to del Junco, as the man-of-the-house so to speak, doesn't look comfortable with Isadora's idea, that she owns him.
Romy
Terrific recap, Hombre. I love the humor you put in your recaps.
Yep, Anastasia really pulled rank on Érica, basically "don't you dare question what I do".
OK, Conrado is officially an idiot and I've lost all respect for him. His wife is supposed to be pure and his precious manhood can't take the thought of another man touching her. But it's perfectly all right for him to chase Anas for what seems like weeks.
And I never liked Chad and like him less now. I doubt Lu will stay away from him; it appears to be built into the plot. But the jerk keeps taking her to clubs or pool parties and letting the snotty little rich kids call her a naca. Daytona is delusional. Supposedly Chad and Lu have been an item for 8 months, and Daytona still thinks he'll return to her.
Yeah, that suitcase in Gina's former bedroom is very odd. Why would Renato do that anyway? As far as I can tell, his plan is to have Gina alive and far away. Why would he want to sabotage Anas' story that she left and left the baby behind.
Hmmm. I thought when watching the scene that maybe Leandro was already an addict. But maybe those of you who think that was the first time are right. I thought he was already an addict because he asked for some to take home.
Lidia looked completely miserable during Analia's little plan for Alejo. I guess Analia was right about Alejo not really planning to leave her for Lidia because he played along with the charade, pretending he'd just met Lidia.
Wow, the actor portraying Iggy is good. That scene with Vero was scary. I can't tell what's up with him. He's obviously a deeply disturbed individual. But when he's with Vero I actually believe he has a thing for her, not that he's really capable of love. But he also convinces me he's crazy about Paola. Would love to hear others' thoughts about Iggy and what makes him tick.
Another terrific recap, Hombre. Thanks very much.
The suitcase in Gina's room puzzles me. Modesta claims it wasn't there, so who would have had motive and opportunity to put it there? You mentioned Renato, but why would he do that? I find myself wondering from time to time about Modesta, but I haven't gotten anywhere with my wonderings.
I doubt that the writers are ready to abandon the David&Veronica sub-plot, but is she really dense enough not to recognize that he's a sicko? She at least had the good sense to seem worried when he said he knew where she lived and could always find her. It's hard for me to believe that she'd continue to seek him out to ask his advice after this last meeting.
Another aspect of the plot that puzzles me is the continued presence of Daytona and her coven. Why does Lu have anything to do with her? And why does Chad?? What are the odds that Lu will become pregnant? Actually, that seems to me almost a sure thing, so the odds would be how much longer it will take before that happens.
I fail to understand much of what LQ says, but I did catch him asking the doctora for either morphine or a morphine prescription (I don't remember which). His delight with morphine reminded me of my own experience some years ago. I was in the hospital for an operation, and after the operation I had a morphine drip that I could control. The effect was amazing! I understood for the first time the appeal of drug use and the danger of drug addiction. Fortunately, it wasn't long before the doctor informed me that I wouldn't be able to leave the hospital until my "system" was working again (code for: until I was no longer constipated), and morphine would prevent my system from working. I immediately stopped the morphine. Sigh.
If the suitcase was planted, my suspicion is Anas mama. Renato wouldn't do that. Too devoted to Anas & I'm sure he doesn't want Anas to find out Gina is alive.
hmm, I guess the only one that knows for sure that Gina is dead is Anas,
what could go wrong here?
and does anyone even care about Victor Manuel?
NovelaMaven You are very welcome! Complete delight!!
"I hope I didn't go TOO far into detail and lose the thread of the story … " Not at ALL! Perfect!! Besides, me, I just think, More! More!
" … it also sounded as if [the higher-up who chewed out Vidal] wasn't really a bad guy." It does seem he's not, but just wants the cops to refelct well on him. He was totally off base shining Pablo on, but it seemed more from self-absorption.
LXV: "It's those mini-tantrums that alarm me about the (alas, inevitable, sigh) future of Dan & Luch." I'm with you on that!
And this "I wasn't exactly pleased with Lucy's cant advice to Mari about acting like a real girl instead of the tomboy she really is. Surely Mari has identity & self-esteem issues but does that mean she has to start play-acting just to get the box of chocolates? Well, maybe she needs to re-think the chocolates, though, if that's what she really wants."
El Señor EC, thank you for adding info about the money Deborah from Radamés. "Technically, Deborah didn't steal anything. Radames did sign over those properties to her to prevent Helena from getting anything."
Also, I second what LXV wrote you: "just saw your comment about watching in the AM; whatever, whenever, you give us is a plus! I hope you don't feel unduly pressured by this pushy gang. You always sum up things so accurately & concisely I look forward to your comments & recaps, whenever they appear." No, I third it, since I see NovelaMaven already seconded it :D
NvMv: "And if Marina lives to tell the tale, I see her with Carlos. Why not? They wear perfectly matching blinders." LOL Perfect!
deb: "hmm, I thought Lucia made it clear to doctor Dan that she was going back to Diablo, to get the goods on him once and for all." I thought so, too! Any excuse for a tirade, him.
" … she must have forgotten how her strip club undercover duty set the department on fire, (and especially Evaristo)," good point! "I really like her, she has done the man's man thing and has earned the right to be treated with respect." hear, hear!
" … can a psychiatrist be saved?" LOL
" … so when Deborah ran off with half, that meant what he still had, ALL belonged to Olegario." Ah, yes. Interesting point.
spanish student: "I'm betting on Deya and Neno. Have you ever noticed how Deya's face lights up whenever Neno appears?" Yes! And he is such a steady, patient person!
"I had a 'what if?' moment when I saw Octavio and Andriana in the chapel, then I realized that he's still in high school." I had thought of them, too, but I didn't realize he is in high school. Oh well ….
Almost time for the show! Enjoy, all!
Aficionada
Thanks, Hombre. Terrific recap. and then we see the pool, and of COURSE they fall in - lol.
It hadn’t registered with me that Analia and Alejo were throwing their son a birthday party. Poor kid. What a horribly sedate party.
Who put the bag in Gina’s room? Maybe Modesta simply overlooked it when she was clearing out the room. I got the impression that Anas may be thinking that Modesta is too long in the tooth for her job.
(I apologize for things being out of sequence. I recapped by location.)
The Penthouse
Daniel, disguised as a repairman, argues with Lucia about her return to live with Olegario. He thinks she is being irresponsible. She thinks she knows what she is doing.
Daniel sticks around after the curtain hangers are gone. Lucia returned to live there to find proof that Rafael is Olegario. Daniel thinks this is dangerous work for the police to do. She should think about Roxana, Memin and he wants to saw him.
This argument goes on for a while. Rosa alerts her that Senor Montes just entered the building.
Lucia pretends to be having a conversation with Rosa, when Olegario enters. He doesn't look like Rafael anymore. Lucia directs his attention to the curtains while Daniel leaves hiding behind a ladder. Olegario had a bad day and wants to rest. Lucia fixes him a drink. (I thought she was going to drug him.) Not even pretending to be Rafael, he wishes that Lucia would act like his wife. Lucia says it was an error to come back to him. Rafael struggles to come back. He is sorry. Lucia asks him about his day. He goes off to his office.
Genaro comes to the door and Lucia recognizes the voice as the person who killed Cesar. After inviting him in, she runs to her room to call Daniel, but Daniel wants to continue the argument from earlier. She lets him know who she saw and hung up.
Olegario wants to know what the hell Genaro is doing in his house. He came to inform him that the drugs were now at AFIAD and they have a chance to recoup them. But for Olegario, getting rid of Ponce is most important. He has a plan.
Helena is visiting Lucia to tell her about the wedding, about the dress fitting and that Daniel will be a witness. Lucia explains to her why she has to be with Olegario, to find proof that he is Olegario. That is the only way she and the kids could get out of danger. She asked Helena to call Pablo to tell him that Genaro was one of Cesar's killers.
Abel's hospital room
Carlos tries to get Abel to tell him what's wrong, but Abel doesn't want to talk.
Much later, Adriana comes to see Abel. He still doesn't want to talk. She goes on and on about how much she still loves him and wants him to be part of her life as alma gemela. He manages to say thanks.
AFIAD
Alejandro and Rodriguez discuss how to go about catching Lopez, starting with reviewing the videos before Anselmo was murdered. Maricela enters. Maricela and Rodriguez should not work together anymore.
Misericordia
Ignacio asks Carlos about Abel's state. He is in deep depression. Fernanda knows why. It is all Adriana's fault. Helena says now is not the time to blame anyone, but to be supportive of Abel. Helena has something very important to tell Carlos, (but we never find out what that is).
Later, Pablo comes to see Helena and suggests that they get married today. (With all that is going on, that's what is on his mind?)
Much later, after her cafe with Octario, Adriana asks Deyanira to hold Santiago (that's the baby's name) while she goes to talk with Abel. Carlos sees Deyanira with notEvaristo and smiles at the thought of her being a mother. When she sees him, he leaves.
iSam, Marina after her timeoff at Daniel's hideout, overhears Dr Mallorca and non-descript nurse talking. She questions Dr Mallorca's trust in Lucia.
-El Señor EC
(I apologize for things being out of sequence. I recapped by location.)
Dr Mallorca's office
Carlos and Gonzalo talk about Abel. Gonzalo thinks he had a good reason to break Abel's heart – to prevent him from being with a useless person. He reveals that he has Parkinson's disease. Carlos doesn't think Gonzalo has the right to decide for Abel whether or not he should be with a sick person. Gonzalo thinks Abel will get over his depression and meet someone new and healthy. (I totally understand Gonzalo's actions. He may be trying to relieve Abel of the obligation to stay with him out of guilt as well as prevent his own heartbreak that will happen when Abel eventually leaves him. No one wants to be the person who breaks up with someone because they are ill, but eventually most do. Unfortunately, he comes across quite dickish.)
The bodega
Liliana paces back and forth. Nuria, sitting relaxed on the couch, makes fun of her. Genaro comes in and breaks up the argument, but Liliana lights into him. She has been snorting. She is really scared that El Diablo is going to kill them. Genaro suggest fleeing, when Lopez bursts in. Everything's gone wrong. He is the butt of jokes at the department and homicide suspects him. Liliana decides to video the conversation with her phone. Of course during this conversation Genaro admits to killing people and Lopez admits to killing Anselmo. Genaro receives a call informing him that the drug arrived at the department.
Later, when she is alone, Liliana reviews the video. She thinks this will right all her wrongs with Daniel and get her out of this mess. Nuria enters and they have it out. Liliana slaps Nuria. Nuria threatens to tell El Diablo. Liliana says she will cut out her tongue first. (I never understood why Liliana didn't kill Nuria a long time ago.)
Much later, after the parking garage scene, Genaro brings Octavio to the bodega. Liliana can not believe this. Octavio is tied up in a chair makes movements like a mad dog. Genaro tells him that Daniel has to pay for what happened in Vera Cruz. Genaro lets him talk for a bit. He says that they will all die worse than him. Genaro tells him that when Octavio's turn comes, it will be a bullet to the head.
Daniel's hideout
Inexplicably still alive Marina, iSam(tm), could not stand being a nun and ran away to get her some Daniel. Daniel suggests that she leaves the country, but the idea of leaving without him is crazy. She doesn't know if there exists and after life, what she does know is her love for Daniel. Daniel receives a call from Lucia informing him that she saw Genaro Cabello, one of Cesar's killers. And if you thought Marina was rehabilitated, this immediately threw her back into jealous mode. Daniel leaves.
At a Cafe
Octavio & Lil Vicky meet up with Adriana & notEvaristo. (What's the baby's name? I too thought about Octavio and Adriana hooking up, but it is much too convenient. Andriana needs to meet someone who is not related to the Durans, the misericordia nor the police department.) Blah, blah, blah.
Juzgado Civico
Pablo and Helena just got their paperwork in order. Helena pretends to worry about things like where they will live and him not having a job. He says he will look for a new job and find her a great place to live. She loves the idea.
-El Señor EC
(I apologize for things being out of sequence. I recapped by location.)
Radames' office
Radames receives and offer to buy the hotel and is completely offended by the amount. The buyer tells him that everyone knows the hotel is a front for drug traffickers, so he will never get a better offer. Radames throws him out.
Durans Restaurant
Consuela thinks some cut flowers will make people forget about the rats. Helena tells her that she and Pablo are getting married in the afternoon. Fernanda is opposed and will not attend. Consuela will buy her a wedding dress as a present. In walks Liliana. Helena and Consuela leave without even looking at her. Fernanda tells Liliana about Helena's impending nuptials.
Later after Liliana left, Consuela tells Fernanda that she needs to relax, but Fernanda is still concerned about her family returning to a lower class. Ignacio looks on quietly, as always. Non of her kids turned out they way she wanted. She should accept that Liliana is evil and accept Abel as he is. But she wouldn't hear it.
Some park somewhere
Pablo and Daniel are talking. Pablo wants Daniel to be a witness. Daniel is preoccupied with El Diablo. He continues to complain about Lucia living with El Diablo. Pablo reminds him that Rafael is the legal parent of the kids, and until there is proof that Rafael is really Olegario, Lucia has to stay with him for the kids. Pablo receives Helena's call telling him that Lucia saw Genaro, one of Cesar's killers.
Pablo and Daniel are still here, for what seems like hours. They finally realize that the “L” that Cesar wrote with his blood was for Liliana, not Lucia. (I thought Daniel would have had a stronger reaction when he realized this, considering that he put Lucia away and then dated Liliana, but he was quite calm about it.) Someone sends Pablo a video of Genaro holding a gun to the head of a tied up Ocatvio. (end of episode)
Daniel's/Octavio's home
Octavio is about the cut a slice of apple for the baby, when the maid reminds him that the baby can't chew yet. She sends him off to buy some stuff.
Radames' home
Liliana, the bearer of bad tidings, shows up to tell Radames that Helena is marrying Pablo this afternoon. (Something tells me this will be an explosive wedding.)
Parking garage
Genaro observes Octavio as he goes shopping. He and another henchman kidnap Octavio.
Deyanira's place
Consuela, Lucia, Deyanira & Helena are having a wedding dress party. Consuela is sad, thinking about Vicky. They all pretend that the dress is beautiful.

-El Señor EC
El Señor EC, You are on fire today! What a great recap with just the right mixture of detail and snarky asides. I very much like the way you organized the scenes. Thank you!
“Rafael struggles to come back.” Perfect. It really does feel like the persona of Rafael exists, sharing corporal real estate with the Diablo.
“Maricela and Rodriguez should not work together anymore.” They do have a hard time staying on task when they’re together, don’t they?
“Helena has something very important to tell Carlos, (but we never find out what that is).” That’s true, but I kind of assumed that she wanted to tell Carlos that Abel is gay and also, perhaps, that he is in love with Dr. Mallorca. That would make sense, given the later conversation between Carlos and Mallorca. (And I liked your sympathetic analysis of Gonzalo’s reasoning, BTW)
It’s hilarious that Fernanda is so offended by Elena daring to marry that policía de quinta that she seems to forget that Lily has murdered her beloved granddaughter.
“They all pretend that the dress is beautiful” jajaja. You didn’t like the dress?
I thought Daniel and Pablo were not all that excited about Lucha’s news (that Genaro was one César’s murderers) because they already knew it.
El Señor EC : Brilliant deadpan understatement: "Maricela and Rodriguez should not work together anymore."
I'm totally with you on all those reasons for the Gonzalo-Abel deception and I would add, that poor Gonzo may need some alone time to figure out what lies ahead for him without a needy ninny of a new boyfriend fluttering around him. (does my dislike for Abel show too much?) I really feel for Gonzo, dickish or not, he's quite pathetic right now.
"(I never understood why Liliana didn't kill Nuria a long time ago.)" Me neither, quite frankly.
notEvaristo = Santiago
"Helena pretends to worry ..." that was funny!
"Consuela thinks some cut flowers will make people forget about the rats." That was even funnier!
"Pablo reminds him that Rafael is the legal parent of the kids, and until there is proof that Rafael is really Olegario, Lucia has to stay with him for the kids" A timely little reminder of what's what; this plot needs to be grounded once in a while what with the dual-character thing going on.
"...the maid reminds him that the baby can't chew yet." This baby is still premature by my count!
"They all pretend that the dress is beautiful." Tell us what you really think. I thought it looked like a bit of a harness, myself, but Elena could wear anything really.
Thank you so much for a stellar recap; sequence is the least of it. I also recap by location and combine scenes to keep from getting dizzy. I love your deadpan humor.
Great recap, El Senor!
I also thought Lucia was going to drug him. Guess that would be too easy.
No longer Dr. Perfect, Mallorca chooses not to throw Abel a lifeline. All of the medical professionals are having ego/pride issues right now. On the other hand, like LXV, I've never warmed up to Abel's character. Fernanda's overbearing style seems to have harmed him the most. He's void of confidence and direction.
I was surprised that after hearing the discussion Ignacio didn't make it clear what his stance is. Fortunately Adrianna was able to snap Abel out of his misery if only for a moment.
I laughed at your comment, "they all pretend that the dress is beautiful" Something about the top half seemed outdated and unbecoming. But with Radames' threat pending, the impromptu wedding may never happen.

I can only do recaps of Wednesday's show and usually Friday's. But here are some comments:
Go, Doctora, go! I think the doctora's name is Isabel. Not only is she sleeping with Leandro, she's come to his house. She tells Paola and Iggy that Leandro has terminal cancer! But this is almost certainly a ploy by Leandro to get Paolo and iggy together, as Isabel privately says to Leandro, "she'll never forgive you." I'm thinking that maybe the reason they rarely say the doctora's name is that she's going to get killed at some point. As we know, she's in that dead-end job of Druglord Doc.
I think Anas and Conrado DID sleep together (and actually make love, which Anas couldn't do before). She tells Renato she loves Conrado, he'll just have to live with it. Renato makes a sour face.
Elias tells Sal that Gina disappeared, and Sal tells his cops, find out everything about Gina, and try to locate her if she's alive. She's the key to bringing down Anastasia. We see Gina in New Orleans befriend two merchant seaman, whose next stop is Miami!
Analía's plan with the birthday party works perfectly. Alejo never catches on that it was a setup, and admits he had an affair with Analía's "friend" Lidia. He'll never do it again, she's the love of his life.
And Anas tells the guys she want the next shipment of coke to be the biggest EVER!
Thanks muchly, Hombre, for your comments. I found them very helpful, especially your account of what the doctora said to LQ about Paola not forgiving him. I missed that, and I had no idea that the cancer news was just a ploy.
I was expecting that when the two seamen helped Gina back to her room, one or both of them would try to rape her, and I thought "Oh no, not again!" Apparently I was wrong, and that their function in the plot is to help her get back to Miami.
And what was that piece of mail that Irene received? She was apparently so freaked out by it that she threw up, and she continued to be extremely upset.
thanks so much -El Señor EC for the recap!
I missed quite a few little details that were throwing me.
like this wedding where the arrangements are all being made along the way, like the dress, the witnesses, etc, assuming everyone will still be alive, did anyone remember the rings?, and most likely it will be done with everyone's cell phone going off., "excuse me I have a call".
and Octavio has a KNIFE, can we see that again, and I guess his kidnap is to lure Daniel in ??
so Marian wants to show Daniel what it's like with a nun, no wonder he was backpeddling, and saved by Lucia's call, did Mariana once again complain about Luchas Interruptus.
NovelaMaven - hmm, Carlos had counseled Abel on his attraction to the good doctor, so it wasn't a complete unknown.
also, Daniel had dogged Lucia the whole show for killing César and after Lucia's appeal where she was freed for lack of evidence, the whole subject was dropped until now, that's why it's surprising the reveal was such a non-event and his realization that the L that César wrote in his blood was for Lili and not Lucia, was .... apparently Daniel is more concerned about who killed Anselmo so he can clear HIS name.
I suppose in the Gran Final, when everything is resolved, Roxi will drop her doll, the flash drive will fall out into a storm drain or something and be lost forever.
Thanks, Hombre, your comments are as good as a recap!
Another thing that happened is that Saúl returned to the police department and Iggy saw him go in and may have connected the dots about the older cop Vero described.
Leandro is pond scum! Letting his beloved daughter think he has two months to live to manipulate her is despicable.
So Conrado was stinking drunk when he pushed Érica and got punched by Adán and then shows up at Anas saying he has nowhere else to go. And then he's apparently terrific sex? I don't think so. The writers have made him ridiculous. He's tortured by what Érica did, tears roll down his cheeks, he says he loved her like a fool. But then he snaps right out of it and is Mr. Smooth with Anas. Bah! I was so mad last night that I briefly thought about quitting the novela entirely. I'm still not over it.
Juanita, we don't know what piece of mail Irene got. It must have something to do with the guy she left stabbed and then climbed out the window and ran. We assume she killed the guy, and I assume he had some power because one of his guys found the body and called him patrón.
deb "...Roxi will drop her doll, the flash drive will fall out into a storm drain or something and be lost forever." Oh noes!!! They couldn't, they wouldn't...I want me some venganza. That would be the biggest tease of all time.
deb, Oh you're right, I had forgotten that Carlos had counseled Abel on the subject.
Bloody "L" -- I didn't even catch that part of the conversation!
deb and LXV, If the memoria goes down the drain, I won't watch another episode! Oh wait... it will all be over anyway. Bah!
thanks so much Hombre!
I totally appreciate everything you do.
this shows a bit cryptic for me,
still lost when it comes to Erika's contract.
I'm assuming ?? that Leandro's cancer thingy is not true, but I don't know why he wants Iggy and Paola together, didn't he warn Iggy about that once, and then suggested they marry, maybe this other guy (her brother), Paola's amigo has him worried.
Gina's seafaring friends sure looked like a couple of thugs, but maybe that was in another show, I'm sure their intentions are good, ha!, she sure caught Renato by surprise when she called the house, that is if Renato could ever be surprised about anything, except for maybe the way Irene keeps inviting him up for a drink.
and don't know what to think about Conrado's drunken love for Anas, this will surely push Renato over to the dark side, if there is any darkside left to be pushed into, other than Irene.
leisure suit Saul makes a pastel splash at headquarters, and gets briefed on the new Gina mission, sparked by Elias' tip.
pirate lady Modesta is making me wonder if she is working on a secret plan to bring down everyone. (I guess there is no logical reason why anyone in that house would be sane)
Irene's letter from Mexico, hmm, starts with no one knows this address for me, did the people hunting her for killing that guy find her?
and yes, Analia's plan worked, as she quietly suffers through Alejo's confession.
and casual Mauricio chats with Silvana on the beach, police business, what do you know about Gina?
Hombre, thanks for the fab starter. The show was all over the place last night, and your summary helped put it together.
I’m starting to smell something fishy about the doc. I could buy her falling for a bad boy and wanting a little diversion, but now she’s living with him and lying about his medical condition. Someone alluded to this before – maybe she’s deep undercover, so deep even Ferrara doesn’t know about her, or she has a personal vendetta against LQ?
Alejo seemed so sincere, but I’m wondering if he isn’t a better player than Analia and that all his contriteness was an act.
Conrado slept with Anas for his ego only. He still loves Erica, but in his mind he had to one-up her. I don’t doubt that the sex was terrific for Anas, considering how pushy and selfish her husband was with her intimacy problem. Conrado was probably very slow and patient with her. Novelera, hope you stick with the show!
Great comments! Niecie you definitely know how to think outside the box. And with this show, anything's possible!
Thanks, Deb, for adding all those little things I forgot. As for Erica's contract, Sergio said it provides that she must promote the initial release of the film, which is 5 days away. She signed it without reading it, so it COULD also contain language where she says it's okay to use other actresses for the porn scenes. Who knows? Sergio told her to "trust" him. She now realizes she didn't act too intelligently in this. I'm certainly not blaming her at all, Sergio took advantage of her. But he could have been even worse, he could have forced her to do the sex scenes, as Linda Lovelace claimed was done to her in Deep Throat (you can read about it on Wikipedia).
Erica is a terrible actress, anyway, at least when speaking in English. Since this was the age of sexual liberation, maybe she will start to embrace the situation, and maybe even make more films, especially when she finds out about Conrado. Stranger things have happened!
thanks Hombre!
hmm, I was thinking Anas made this deal with Sergio primarily to keep Conrado from killing him (the tax thingy being a bonus), and now it seems it allows him to go ahead with "Sugar Lips", is this her intention (because she is no dummy), and of course Conrado can't confront any of this, and I suppose now that Adan is caught up in it he will be Erika's agent, did anyone even mention insurance (maybe AllState) to her.
As I remember it the only thing they've mentioned for sure is that Érica is contractually obligated to show up at events to promote Sugar Lips. If he put the stuff in there about other actresses, then they haven't told us.
I'm NOT happy about Anas apparently being willing to have Sugar Lips released and thus sealing Érica's fate as being a porn actress. She could tell Sergio that she'd pay for three more movies but please destroy Sugar Lips. Anas apparently has zero female solidarity.
Interesting thought about the doc being undercover! That would explain her sudden interest in the slimeball, gunshot patient. Or maybe she's working with Jose, the son. There's still something he's not telling us about his father and what happened, and he used a woman to get in touch with Connie, so why not this? Or maybe the doc is just nuts.
Kelly
Thank you for a great recap, El Señor EC! Filled a lot of gaps for me!
Short break, more comment when can ...
I like the way you put it in locations.
Great comments, all!

Marisela is chastising Rodriguez for treating her like a friend with benefits when Dan calls to tell them about Octavio. He wants them to come to his hotel room armed and ready.
Dan’s hotel room
Genaro wants Dan to surrender in exchange for Octavio’s release but Octavio yells that it’s a trap…they’re gonna kill him anyway.
Misericordia
Ignacio dispenses much needed fatherly wisdom to Abel about perseverance and living life fearlessly. Abel thaws a little and even sheds a tear.
Casa Duran
Pablo asks Fernanda to let Elena know that he can’t make the wedding because Octavio’s life is in danger. Fernanda hasn’t learned a thing at all, so she decides not to.
Scrap Yard
Both sides prepare for the meet. Pablo, Rodriguez and Marisela enter unseen and ahead of Daniel. Octavio is tied up in a trunk but is cutting the rope with a knife he was carrying.
Misericordia
Abel admits to Ignacio that Santiago is not his son. Ignacio already knows and is certain that Abel will love him as his own. More words of wisdom, “to live is to err…all the time”. But you must keep moving forward. Abel thaws a little more and tries to tell him “his truth”, but Ignacio stops him. He already knows and understands. (How on earth has this man tolerated bitter Fernanda for so long?)

Capitulo 102 – Parte 2/3
Outside the courthouse
Rad and his goons kidnap Elena as she, Lucha, and Deya wait for Pablo.
Scrap Yard
Octavio frees himself with the knife, clobbers Diablo’s henchman, exits the truck and runs into Marisela. “You’re just like your uncle.” (Brave.) Unfortunately Dan has now surrendered and dropped his weapon. Marisela radios the team that she has Octavio. Upon hearing this, Dan yells for cover and lots of bullets are wasted. The main characters escape unscathed but Diablo releases his fury on the one who let Octavio get away.
On the road
Marisela calls Dan from her car and tells him Octavio is just like him… brave. Dan believes his family curse has been broken.
Misericordia
Ignacio’s on a roll…he tells Abel to live “his life,” and not according to his mother’s approval. “Eres libre y eres adulto.” He wants to see his son move out, move forward and achieve his “architectural” dreams. Abel’s icy exterior melts (he’s smiling), and Ignacio wins “Father of the Year”.
Casa de Deya / Casa Duran
Lucia calls Fernanda and asks if she’s heard from Pablo. She lies and says no. Lucia tells her Elena was kidnapped and she suspects Radames. Fernanda’s karma has finally arrived.
Rad’s hotel
Rad has the unconscious Elena on the bed and is about to assault her when she reacts and fights back. He punches her and she’s out again. Next scene she’s tied up and bloody. After more heated words he chokes her until she loses consciousness. (I hope the writers have something nice in store for him.)
Warehouse
Liliana wonders whether Octavio should die (he may have heard her voice) and what she should do with the unauthorized videotape of Genaro and Lopez’ confessions. Diablo storms in whining about how Ponce beat him again. Liliana smiles behind his back.
Misericordia
Carlos is providing unneeded therapy to Abel. Too late, the healing process has already begun, thanks to “Papa”. Carlos says Abel is free to go but must continue therapy. There’s more work to do.
Daniel’s hotel room
Octavio is set on avenging his father’s death but Dan wants him to let the police handle it. He wants him to give his statement to Alejandro so he, Consuelo, and the baby can receive police protection. Lucia calls and informs Pablo of Elena’s kidnapping.
Spanish student
Capitulo 102 – Parte 3/3
Casa Duran
Abel and Ignacio return home and find Fernanda distraught. Still trying to protect the old goat from bad news, she just says “it’s horrible,” and walks away.
Rad’s hotel
Elena is unconscious on the bed as Rad, now fully dressed, proclaims revenge. He even promises to send a few employees to take advantage of her, if she’s still alive. He’s in pure Diablo form right now.
Police Station
Alejandro accuses Evaristo and Marsela of insubordination. They try to tell him that Diablo is indeed alive and even kidnapped Octavio to get to Daniel.
Rad’s house
Pablo shows up with gun in hand looking for Rad but is greeted by Ivanna. When Pablo tell her that Rad kidnapped Elena, Ivanna says she “deserves it for being a floozy”.
Rad’s office
Rad ‘s trying to hire male employees to continue assaulting Elena.
Hotel room
Elena has made it on her feet, and although clearly in pain, she makes it out the door.

I tried to make this a "just the facts" recap (with a few exceptions). Feel free to add, correct, etc.
I meant to refer to Ignacio as the "old man" not "old goat" lol
spanish student
thank you so much Spanish student,
excellent recap!
so simple, clean, and to the point, loved it!
and what an episode, whew!
the only thing I can think of adding is that Octavio (after getting cleaned up) made it down Alejandro's to file his statement against Genaro, Lili, and Olegario,
are you sure it was them? Alejandro asks.
as Evaristo and Marsela are going, isn't that what we were saying?
and wow, Ignacio's father/son speech, I was so impressed,
but how did he ever get out of the house and away from Fernanda.
loved Lili's smile behind Diablo's back,
what a bunch of characters these are!
Great recap, Spanish student! Thank you so much!
Fernanda, "It's horrible .... " Ay!!

Spanish Student, very nice elegant recap! And thanks to everyone who said nice things about my recap yesterday. I was too busy and didn't get a chance to reply.
Pobre Helena... I did not see that coming. I knew something would happen, but not that.
Ignacio finally speaks...
I hope Fernanda loses her mind and has to be institutionalized.
-El Señor EC
deb ⁄Muchas gracias! I see you were up in the middle of the night writing this for us; it's perfect, nice tight descriptions; something I aspire to someday.
Ignacio finally earns his keep. It was a very moving scene! His new heart must be a good one, as Abel has finally recognized. Now I only hope I can start to feel some sympathy.
"Fernanda hasn’t learned a thing at all...." Fernanda's gonna to get a big anvil, unless they give her a last minute (deathbed?) rehabilitation.
The Elena scenes had my blood boiling; I did not look away, but was tempted to. I'm assuming she made it out before the hired rapists arrived on the scene. My only gripe was with her completely spotless white dress at the end of her ordeal.
I thought I saw a wave of realization on Alejandro"s face after Octavio's declaration; as much as I find him a pissy, competitve administrator, he has done the right thing before when confronted with the reality of the situation. Dan's still got to get his name cleared and this guy could cause some real damage in the name of "righteousness".
Wow, has this show heated up. I'll be on deck for Monday night's recap. Looking forward.
Spanish student
And another star recapper is born! What an absolutely wonderful job -- you are a natural! Thanks so much for this. I sure hope we can tempt you to do this again, if not on this show, then maybe on another.
I especially enjoyed the way you let the scene between Abel and his father develop through the course of the episode, just as the writers themselves did. Your instincts in doing so were perfect because it was such an important counterweight to the splashy heroics in the junkyard and Elena's hideous martirio at the hands of the vile Radamés.
My idea of the most fitting anvil for Fernanda: Ignacio stops loving her.
Thanks, everyone. I was rushing to finish it since i have a few things to do today before more bad weather comes. I missed a few words here and there and didn't get a chance to edit or add the caps, bold and italics ( i.e. Pablo telling Dan, "They want YOU").
I see there were a few middle of the night responses. I hope i didn't wake anyone with mobile or blog alerts.

I'm really intrigued by Silvana. In previous novelas, the actress played various wild teenagers, but here, she's a woman, tough and smart. She tells Elias she spoke to a cop (Elias asks which one), told him nothing, because what does she know? But she doesn't like being questioned. Later, she secretly follows him, and sees him talking to Salvador. Being shrewd, I bet she now realizes that Elias is not working for Anas for money, but rather as a mole for the cops. Elias tells Sal there's a big shipment of coke coming, he doesn't know how big, except that it'll be the biggest ever shipped to the US!
Analía's plan worked TOO well. Yes, she got Alejo to confess, but now she realizes she's lost all trust in him. She tells him she knows he was actually going to leave her for Lidia. How does she know? Because she was in the closet of the hotel room, she heard everything! This enrages Alejo, who goes off after Lidia. Verónica and Érica are giving each other support, Vero pointing out that it's understandable why Conrado might stray, since they have a modern marriage, while Vero's is more traditional. Analía arrives to say that HER marriage is over, and tells the story of how she was in the closet. Why didn't you come out? She says she wanted to feel all the pain, really see it for herself. She then tells Vero (or maybe someone else tells Vero, I can't remember) that Vero thinks her marriage doesn't have the infidelity problem, but what about Adán and Érica, who got together just the other night! Vero finds out that Chad reported this, quizzes him, and he grudgingly admits he saw them, but didn't see anything more than talking.
Alejo goes to Lidia's real estate office, starts screaming at her in front of the whole office, starts grabbing her around the neck, and is about to get even more violent when Conrado arrives, smooths the thing over, and seems to be sweet-talking Lidia HIMSELF. What an operator. But that wasn't the end of it, because security was called, and Alejo is arrested! He's thrown in jail, charged with assault, plus he had some coke in his pocket, and he has priors. No way is he getting out of jail tonight. Anália visits him in the clink to stare at him and make him feel as bad as possible. Elias arrives, he's the family lawyer as we know, and makes a big production, telling Sal not to be a cowboy, this is the United States, you know, and release my partner at once! Sal plays along with this act, since the two of them are really working together.
Lu looks absolutely ridiculous in her vest, long skirt and boots, but cute. Her Mom, Vero, looks super hot in a pink low cut top (showing cleavage) and lime green skirt. Her delicate nose and mouth, liquid eyes and beautiful skin have me drooling. If I misreported some of what happened with her, now you know why!
Sergio shows Anas covers of the next three films he wants to do. Anas says I don't give a **** what's in the films, I just want them started pronto, like in 5 days. But we don't even have a script, replies Sergio. No problem, Carmen to the rescue, she wrote the “script” for Sugar Lips, she says she'll have something ready in time. Sergio gives her the job of getting Érica on board. Carmen visits Érica, armed with shopping bags, full of fancy new clothes. She tells Érica she's a star. Érica says no way am I going to do any more nude scenes, forget it. Oh c'mon, says Carmen, don't worry about that. You're the star. You can decide just how far you'll go in each scene. You just have to be the leading lady in the next three films, Sergio knows you just have that special look, no other young lady is like you. And you'll be rich. As a rich diva, you'll have to dress properly. Why don't you try on this elegant evening gown? Érica tries on a glittering black gown, slit high on the leg, and asks Carmen, is it designer? Of course it is, dear.
Iggy tells Leandro that Verónica talked to the cops, and from the way the story went, it's almost certain that Anas has a mole in the cops. Iggy has been watching the cops, and is trying to figure out which one of them is working for Anas (we know it's Saúl). Leandro tells Iggy do whatever you have to do to get that bitch Vero to talk! No problem, boss, says Iggy, his mouth watering. Changing the subject, Leandro says, I've changed my mind about you and Paola. Previously I sort of warned you away from her, but now I want you to marry her, and you can take over my empire. Whoa! Iggy's mouth is REALLY watering now. So later, Leandro calls in Paola, whose been trying everything to get her Dad treatment for his cancer, even some new thing with needles by some “oriental” guy (it's funny how they bring up these things that were new in the 70's, yesterday was aerobics, today acupuncture). Leandro waives her off, no need for treatments, I've resigned myself to my fate, and oooooo, the pain, the pain (he's so funny with this, but Paola doesn't think for a minute that he's faking). He says you have to promise me one, thing, just this one thing. Sure, Daddy, anything, you name it, I promise I'll do it. She kneels down at his bedside. Paola, I want you to marry Elizonde. WHAT!? She pops up, no way, forget it, that scum, that's the ONLY thing I'll never do. What's the matter, honey, says Leandro, you're almost 30, don't you like MEN? Well of course I like men, but Daddy, that's just out of the question. She stalks off. He sighs.
Modesta, who hates Irene, tells her there's a guy named Frank waiting for her outside. Irene goes out and sees this middle aged, heavy set guy, who says we can't talk here, gives a piece of paper for where they'll meet. She later goes there, it's the “Hello Motel”. Inside, he's down to his food stained underwear, as she laments how did they find her. She flashes back to a guy trying to drown her in a bathtub. She swears to Frank that she's innocent. Oh, innocent, he says, I'm “innocent” too, but I can protect you. All I want is YOU for one night! He starts to paw at her, trying to get off her clothes, as she struggles, escapes (but maybe not for long).
Back at the mansion, Modesta has taken advantage of Irene's absence to search her room and she finds it! It's an envelope, hidden behind the bedframe, which she promptly opens. Ahah! So you weren't just coming here for my Niña's birthday party! Modesta comes downstairs and gives the envelope to Anas. The papers are a newspaper clipping, saying that Irene is a prostitute who's wanted for the murder of a politician!!!!!!!
OMG! spanish studentplease forgive me. I put up the wrong name to thank for last night. I sort of have personalities attached to names, but quite evidently got mixed up in my haste to post my appreciation. I regret not having proofread my comment more carefully.
Yep, Vero looked fab and modern last night, and seemed to have turned a corner being very comforting to Erica. She told Erica that her relationship with Conrado was daring (I guess the pot smoking and prancing around nude) while her own marriage with Adán was traditional, and Vero seemed accepting and nonjudgmental of each other’s differences. Then, mom-in-law had to go and spoil it all by telling Vero she was a fool not to see Erica and Adán are up to no good together.
Funniest moment: When Paola tells LQ that if he keeps pestering her to marry Iggy she will fall dead before he does!
Will Erica let Carmen lure her in? Erica, Carmen is a former porn performer now working as Sergio’s assistant and apparently not even getting credit for writing his “scripts.” Do you want to be that in 20 years?
LXV, no worries at all. I couldn't mention it in my last post because my battery was at 1% and I had to submit ASAP. Definitely not a problem being confused with Deb. Thanks for your comments and for letting me have Friday.
Thanks, NovelaMaven. My world is dominated by nonfiction and reference materials. Recaps and creative writing do not come naturally to me, but you guys inspire me to dust off my decades-old grammar/writing style books and add creative writing to my "hobby bucket list" (#3 after learning to play guitar/piano). I look forward to recapping again, if not for this novela then perhaps for an upcoming novela. Right now I'm only available for Friday episodes.
I love the anvils you guys have for Fernanda. If they fast forward a few years, Ignacio could even remarry.
Spanish student
Gracias Hombre & all the commenters.
All it takes to talk Erica into anything is enough flattery. She is so gullible. Between she & Vero, there might be one brain.
La doctora is a real puzzle & I doubt she is that stupid to get mixed up with LQ without some ulterior motive other than sex or amor.
spanish student If you're OK with Fridays, then they're yours; my schedule is getting too busy for me to do more than one a week. And I can manage Mondays right now. As it is, I doubt we'll have many more anyway. So far not so much as a preview of the next show. I expect I'll pitch in on that, but will have to see if it suits me over the long haul. Not everything is up to the standard of LOS MIZ.
LXV, sure that's fine with me. I'll take Fridays. I'm guessing that ultimos capitulos means only 1-2 more. I may consider El Jardinero but I'll know for sure after the first week.
Spanish student
"Not everything is up to the standard of LOS MIZ." So true. The next show could be a dud. One of the worst I've seen, in my short time watching telenovelas, was La Tempestad. It was torture. I tried to stick with it, but finally threw in the towel after about 60 episodes.
Anonymous 1:27:00—"The next show could be a dud." That's exactly what I'm talking about. The only thing that attracts me right now is that it's set in LA and I used to live there, so I might enjoy seeing the sights & sites. However, it's entirely possible that they'll shoot the thing in Florida and just toss in gratuitous shots of some well-known East LA streets as they did in En Otra Piel
LXV
"However, it's entirely possible that they'll shoot the thing in Florida and just toss in gratuitous shots of some well-known East LA streets as they did in En Otra Piel"
Count on it. I've been in Miami, Chicago and Miami, LA and Miami, Las Vegas -- where else? Well, you get the idea. Opening credits and a few scene dividers y ya!
This business of preferences is very idiosyncratic, of course (you know, de gustibus and all). Personally, I LOVED La Tempestad in all its absurdity and beauty. (And the recaps and comments it inspired on this blog were beyond brilliant.) I often dislike novelas that are Generally Rated As Good and enjoy the ones that many viewers despise.
At the moment, I can't watch anything on Uni. ( And believe me, I've tried. I miss my buds over there.) I will probably pay more attention to Dueños when Los Mis ends and I will certainly take the new novela for a test run. I just can't get into Tierra. (It doesn't seem so bad; I think I'm just too old.)
NovelaMaven"I just can't get into Tierra."..y a mi tampoco.. I winced my way through FELS; what kept me going though, was the unmitigated camp of the whole thing; but this version is trying to take itself seriously, god bless'em.
Narco violence and the 10 o'clock time slot wreak havoc, so I won't join Dueños. I know what you mean about Uni. But am happy to have found this outpost. And willing to give Jardinero a shot.
Spanish Student: Great job.
Duenos: I see nothing good for Vero now that David has carte blanche. Irene throwing up in that kitchen sink, yuck daddy. Will Anas think Renato sold her out if the shipment get confiscated? Kate herself said Anas hated women so no surprise there
Romy
LXV
I'm not fond on the later time slot either (though I'm in the Central zone so it's earlier for me), but I have the option of recording the show and watching it the following evening. This means, alas, that I am often out of sync with the conversations here.
As for narco violence, the sad thing is that Los Mis probably has as much or more than Dueños. Not only that, the losses are far more painful because they are almost always characters we've come to care about. Narco violence is there as background or foreground, it seems, in any novela that pretends to take place in contemporary Mexico.
Dueños turns out to be rather an interesting study in time and place with some excellent acting and more than a casual determination to get the period details right. (And it's always a trip when you realize that your own life time has become a period piece.)
But yeah, I intend to give El Jardinero a chance too. I like the time and I like the little discussion group that has grown up around it. Fingers crossed.(Dedos cruzados?)
love your recaps Hombre,
they fly right through this bizarre story and tie it all together.

I thought Anas was saying she didn't want porno and the actresses were not to be prostitutes, drugies etc. and Sergio wasn't to be boinking them, but treat them like reinas, (I was getting she didn't want any problems out of this) or did I get this all wrong?
and was there a scene where Elias is spouting off about the 'big shipment' and Renato looks like he doesn't know anything about it, or was he baiting Elias, (or just letting us know that he knows that Elias knows).
wow, Delia is sure to poison the Romero harmony, as if there is some.
interesting scene between Chad and his girlfriend's mother (Vero), I was wondering if either was going to flirt, of course not, as Chad looked a bit intimidated.
and our 30 year old virgin, I'm totally fascinated by Paola's rants with that accent, and doubly so since Hombre pointed out the missing consonants, of course I don't know what she is saying. ha!
I was enjoying the ladies get together, out on the deck on a warm Florida afternoon, chatting about the guys.
was that a new contract Carmen was waving in front of Erika, a few more cocktails and maybe some more jewelry to go with the nice dresses and...
so I guess Frank is Irene's personal stalker, blackmailer, and abuser, as he stuffs his smoke out in a cheeseburger at the "Hello Motel".
Just a quick word that I will be able to recap/outline tuesday night's capitulo. I'll check back when the week starts.
Be well, all!
Aficionada
Thanks for the corrections, such as Delia being the one who told Vero about Erica and Adan, and Deb, you're right about what Anas said about the porn films.
Novelamaven, I also like the period details, from the clothes, to the cars, the telephones the TV's, etc., it sure is fun!
I would feel bad about offering to recap and then disappearing for a wk - but that's why I said it could happen (didn't know it would so soon, but oh well)
I loved all the comments and recaps especially
Julia "even if you're the manliest men who ever manly manned" lol
Star- I thought certified psycho *was* normal novela antagonist ;)
Fri recap
real quick cause I missed the beginning and bits in the middle
Nestor is putting the pieces together and questions Caye about her husband and Alma
so far the info he has is (feel free to add or correct)
1 Ignacio & Caye fought just before he died
2 Ig was going to divorce Caye and marry Alma
3 Ig & Leo fought about something Ig had found out about Leo, just before Ig died
4 Caye had a financial windfall just after Ig died
5 Something is going on betwee Caye & Leo (not as much as he suspects but still)
6 The plane was inspected twice right before Ig died in it. The second time 1:40 after the first - possibly sabotage
Caye is angry, defensive, and hates hates hates Alma and her whole family irrationally Nestor bows out gracefully
After Irina has unbelievably managed to get everybody on board the Flavio works for Dario crazy train Flavio goes for the interview and incredibly these two manage to actually have a nice conversation (for them) Dario explains his point of view and Flavio apologizes. Probably things go so well because Irina put Dario's favorite perfume on Flavio.
Caye plans to get Sophia and the baby away from Art and Art fears he will lose Sophia & the baby because of his secret identity
Sophia y Irina break into the armoire of secrets with a totally valid excuse and a knife - Flavio catches them
Nieves knows Andrea's secret
Caye goes to Bea to snub Sam and try to buy Bea's ranch - again
denied
Leo is bragging to Matamoros that Caye is in the bag (actually he says in my hands) when sidepiece shows up - sidepiece likes danger - creepy sex ensues
Somehow Andrea's bf figured out that she's enamorada with Sam and he blurts it out in public after she shuts him down for like the 100th time. Because she's drunk she heads to El Palenque to find Sam and blurt it out in another public place - ok not quite - she only admits to maybe stalking him but still closer to admitting her feelings than I ever thought she'd get.
end
Late to the party. Spent most of yesterday with my son and daughter-in-law.
Thanks so much for the recap, Hombre. Let me say again that I love short, just the highlights recaps. Yours was a gem, as usual.
I didn't think Anas said no porno, just that the actresses were not to be treated badly, expected to have sex with Sergio, and not to be prostitutes. Doubt she cares about the prostitution except for maybe their having a criminal record reflecting back on her new shell company.
I was so sad to see Érica being coaxed into making those three more films. I STILL do not see why Anas won't let Sugar Lips be destroyed, unless it's to make Conrado completely over her. The point is laundering the money. It seems to me that it's too late for an investment in Sugar Lips, so the other three are the ones for the money laundering.
I'm sorry I can't remember the sequence of events more clearly. But I don't think Elias has the correct information about the big shipment. If that is correct, then he'll be revealed as the mole when there's a big raid at the wrong place. I remember several such clever moves by Teresa Mendoza in La Reina del Sur when her verdugo, the Spanish cop was left jumping up and down with rage when there were no drugs where he thought they'd be.
Adán may feel some attraction for Érica, but I don't think he'd ever act on it. Delia is just stirring up trouble, thinking she's being helpful.
I hope Paola sticks to her guns. I don't want ANYONE caring for Iggy. I despise him.
Yep, Miguel Varoni never misses a chance to ham it up, does he. It was funny when Paola said she'd die before him if he tried to force her to marry Iggy. LQ definitely has a screw loose if he wants his adored daughter married to someone who has no conscience whatsoever and is able to kill perfect strangers without turning a hair.
thanks so much sneaky,
what a great recap!
Nestor's making some headway on Ignacio's death, even has Leonardo pegged as the killer, but no proof, and Cayetana won't stop barking long enough to read between the lines, and didn't she make it clear to Leonardo that she wants Arturo to disappear, although she probably has a different definition for disappear than Leonardo has.
and the way Cayetana feels about anything Gallardo, I can see why the boys are holding back on spilling their name.
I missed the part where Irina dosed Flavio in that perfume for the interview, and when Dario asked him if he had any experience as a personal trainer, Flavio never said anything did he, I hope he does better here than he did laying blocks.
ooo, the Armoire of secrets", that Irina is sure a nosy brat, as if there would be a screw driver in there, and so close to seeing Alma's picture.
I suppose Andrea, having had a few drinks is going to blow this, but she is really having a hard time fighting the attraction, and of course meeting Samuel in the club where Patricia works is not the best of ideas.
and the way she pops off and smacks people, someday someone is going to hit her back.
Nena sure is glowing, (what happened to the servants?), she does like the young guys, but Samuel is special.

Thank you for the great recap of Tierra. I guess because
of his looks, Leo and Cayetana remind me a little of Rasputin and Alexandra. Do you know the relationship
between Beatriz and Cayetana, friend or relative?
I STILL do not see why Anas won't let Sugar Lips be destroyed, unless it's to make Conrado completely over her.
Novelera, well put. I am liking Anas much less now. First the baby, then this. She has the power to kill “Sugar Lips” as a favor to Conrado (and Erica) but she’s not doing it. I’m also liking Conrado less because he won’t demand Anas do it. Even if he is over Erica (which of course he is not), why not help her out anyway since he knows she was snookered? I guess because he doesn't want to upset his new girlfriend. But now silly Erica seems to be folding anyway.
Sneaky Two Shoes-Thanks for the recap, I was distracted on Friday. There is something "off" and creepy about Leo. Fabian Rios acting is coming across more "psycho" than normal evil. I can't explain but his acting is creepy.
Anon-Beatrice and Cayetana are friendly neighbors. Beatrice was very good friend with Ignacio. The two women do not like each other.
What happened to the evil employees? Nena mentioned Matilde when talking to Samuel about her medication. I am glad Samuel is now in charge of her meds, I hope its not going to back fire on him.
Star
you about Fabian Rios. This really is a new role for
him which I think he's playing well. He sure is making
me hate him.
