TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: Dueños del Paraíso, Tierra de Reyes, etc - Week of March 16, 2015

This page is only for Dueños and Tierra.  Los Miserables is getting close to the end and, as we often do in últimas semanas, we have given it a separate page for the duration.

Here’s a link to the Los Mis post.

DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – LUNES

This one will be brief. I had an unexpected guest this evening and didn’t get to watch the novela until quite late.

At the drug warehouse Elias sees Gina driving by. Why is she there?

Irene is completely drunk, while Renato keeps trying to evade her. She makes pass after pass until he eventually asks why she doesn’t have some dignity. She’s grande. She gets totally furious at this and says she’s going to tell Anas he sent a sicario to watch her and Conrado. She ends up throwing some liquor all over him.

Quezada has come to Marina’s restaurant. He tells José Carlos to stop trying to mess with Paola’s mind, talking her out of marrying Elizondo. JC gets in a dig, telling him that everyone knows La Cardona is winning the drug war. Then JC tells him he wants to be the one to take over the cartel. LQ has the cojones to accuse HIM of using drugs! He again says that JC is not his son. JC says he doesn't believe him. After he leaves JC tells Marina that the first part of his plan has been accomplished. Now comes the worst part. He makes a long distance call, but we don’t know to whom.

Paola is like a weather vane. She’s on with Iggy and then off with Iggy every other day. She takes care of him and says it’s because they’re going to be married. He tells her that her brother did this and that he’s going to pay!

Elias tells Renato that they have to tell Anas Gina is back in Miami. We get a close up of how well Renato likes this. Olmeda and Renato take Elias to the “Only Strip Club in Miami” and he also gets a lap dance from the gal with the cotton candy hair. Thinking Elias is “busy” Olmeda calls whistling disposal crew. Elias apparently overhears this and runs. Renato and Olmeda catch him and beat him very badly with baseball bats. [I must be an awful person. This doesn’t bother me at all.] But Elias gets away while they’re examining the trunk of the car.

Anas, Conrado, and Adán arrive in Colombia and we get one of the stock fake outs that maybe the airport police are going to inspect Conrado’s guitar case.

Benavides comes to see Adán, not knowing he’s gone to Colombia. Just as he enters the house Adán calls. Vero hears Benevides’ end of the conversation – that the car belongs to David Costa. Vero freaks out.

Elias manages to get to the police station. He tells Ferrara that they know everything.

At the warehouse Renato has a major temper tantrum about losing Elias. Irene is there, and she’s lucky he doesn’t flatten her. Renato starts tearing the walls open and finds the wires being used to record sound in the warehouse. Irene babbles out loud asking if this means they can hear them. Ferrara gets on the phone with his guys and tells them to get out. But Olmeda and Renato arrive before they can button things up and shoot both the cops.

Anas and the socios arrive at Lensi’s Coke Farm. Lensi greets them warming, but gets hostile when Anas says she doesn’t want his guys handling the transport any more.

Analía is shown in her cell with the usual bunch of hardened female prisoners. And, of course, the stereotypical tough lesbian hits on her.

Silvana comes to see Elias at the police station. He tells her he was the mole and Renato is going to kill him. He also says that they’ll come for Silvana next.

While Daisy and Modesta fuss over Rodrigo Irene, still drunk or again drunk, digs at Modesta. She says that Modesta must have been Nat’s first. Later she draws Daisy aside saying she knows that Daisy isn’t a student. And that they have the same “profession.”

thanks novelera, excellent recap!

considering how Anas feels about Irene, I think she is kind of pushing things being mother of the boss, even more so that Anas isn't there.

it seemed out of place for me, Renato losing his cool and hitting the walls, not to mention that they shouldn't have gone back to the old place.

compared to Renato, Olmedo is like a dog waiting for someone to say kill.

not sure what the deal is with transporting the coca, it seems like that is the riskiest part.

did we hear the deal Salvador made with Analia, I thought she was going to see her kids?

was Elias coaxing Silvana to work with the police?

I keep thinking Daisy is going to run into Izzy again.

DUENOS:

Great recap, Novelera, thank you!

I guess the cleanup crew will have someone to dispose of, the two cops. Funny how easy it is to kill be not in the credits, whereas Elias wasn't do easy. I think he seemed to have very few injuries considering he was hit in the head with a baseball bat. But he says he knows his days are numbered, even if the cops try to protect him, Anas could kill them, bomb the station, etc.

It seems as if Ferrara double crossed Analia, unless he's waiting for Alejo to squeal, then give them both witness protection. But Ferrara's moral compass is pretty low. I just watched the 1971 movie Dirty Harry, with Clint Eastwood, and although his character broke all the rules, we were rooting for him. Somehow I'm not rooting for Ferrara in the same way.

I'm really getting mad at Irene. I wasn't amused at how she took down Daisy, who said she had to study. Irene said, where, at the Institute? Right, said Daisy. Irene replied, there's no such school, we both know that. I don't see why she has to bring up the fact that Daisy is, or has been a prostitute. I don't fault either one of them for that. I just think Irene is a mean person, whereas Daisy is nice.

I enjoyed the scene where Paola threatened Gina (not to hurt her father). Gina didn't seem too upset, but I wouldn't underestimate Paola. I also think she'd choose Jose Carlos over Iggy (if Iggy was going to kill Jose Carlos), but I'm not totally sure about that.

Tierra

ah, so Sofia heads for her dad's apartment in Houston, Leo assures Cayetana that she won't find anything, but while there she finds a picture of her dad, and asks him for a sign, still nothing, but looking through a favorite book of hers, out falls a receipt, (thanks dad), and later at a jewelry store she sees two wedding rings, one inscribed Ignacio and the other Alma, and as she just happens to have her birth certificate in her purse, they let her keep them, of course Cayetana blames Arturo for the trick and throws the rings to the floor.

I kind of feel for Arturo, as I see the oldest brother, his parents are dead, and he has taken on the responsibility of his family, already having failed with Alma's death, and adding Vero and his own family to the list, it's quite a burden he shoulders, of course Samuel and Flavio aren't much help.

and now they are all out on bail,
cause any problems and you will be right back here, Nestor assures them,
this shouldn't take long.

Duenos: Renato is not very good at his job. He has been on a losing streak lately except for the cops. I miss my Pote and Anas is no Teresa(LRDS).

Thanks, Novelera, for managing to produce an excellent recap in spite of having unexpected company.

I was surprised that Renato and Olmeda left Elias unwatched as they went back to look at the trunk. Renato is usually more careful. I think his uncharacteristic outburst later at the warehouse was the result of the frustration he felt first at the news that Gina was back in Miami and at letting Elias get away. Possibly Irene's threat to tell Anas about Renato's "traición" also contributed to his frustration.

Like deb, I'm not clear on what Anas hopes to accomplish by going to Colombia.

I am so tired of what is apparently becoming an obligatory prison episode where an aggressive lesbian comes on to or threatens (or both) a more likeable woman prisoner.

Dueños

Thanks, Novelera. Fun reading.

Sadly, I’m crossing Renato off my list. Shooting the surveillance cops was unnecessary. The cops had nothing on the audiotape except Irene asking “They’re taping us?” And turning his back on Elias after the beatdown? Really?

I’m glad Elias is alive. I like him a little bit. Anas killed his father so there’s honor in him ratting her out to the police. And I think his feelings for Gina were sincere.

Gina is way more treacherous than Elias. She could’ve gone to Ferrara and bargained for immunity for ratting out Anas. But nope, she goes to the No. 1 enemy of the man she claimed to love. And the fact that she triggered her innocent sister to be murdered doesn’t seem to haunt her.

ITA all said about Irene. She is mean and a mess and should leave Daisy alone.

Can’t wait to find out what José Carlos’ plan is.

So Vero is taking Lu to the doctor, but Lu says she’s feeling better.

Dueños

Thanks, Necie, for reminding me about Vero wanting to take Lu to the doctor. Something is going on with Lu. Someone here said she knows just below her consciousness that Iggy did something to her. I'm leaning more toward his having injected something than that he raped her. But I guess they could go there. That she and Chad were being "safe" but Iggy was not. But her being ill would be too soon if she were pregnant with an Iggy spawn. Confusing. I just don't know why she's so reluctant to see a doctor.

I blame Irene for Renato shooting the cops! Her constant harassing of him and threatening to tell Anas about the hitman has moved him off his usual sensible center. He has two reasons to fear this. a) She's his boss in a cartel! What he did COULD be considered a traitorous move and b) He's in love with her and can't bear the thought of her thinking badly of him. [I just re-read the comments before posting and saw that Juanita mentioned this problem with Irene as well.]

Hombre, I agree that Ferrara double crossed Analía. He pushed all her buttons to get her to tell him everything and then sent her off to jail. Of course Elias was supposed to help Analía and Alejo, but he's batting for the other team (pun intended).

Whatever Irene plans with Daisy won't be good. Irene has definitely gone to the dark side. She's going to blackmail her with threatening to reveal the prostitution and cost her the nanny's job. I just can't figure out what Daisy could do for her.

I think José Carlos hit on it last night. He told his father that he doesn't really care about Paola; he only cares about the "business". His ego requires him to be the kingpin. If he had an ounce of real love for Paola, he wouldn't want her married to Iggy. And, if he's not intuitive enough to recognize Iggy for the sick puppy he really is, then he's lacking some leadership qualities.

Gracias Novelera

Anas killed Elias' father, but Nat killed Silvana's unborn child against her will. Who is worse? The child & Silvana were innocent, Nat was a piece of mierda.

Dueños del Paraíso... epi 46, Tuesday

Irene chums up to a Daisy, trying to get her to open up,
but she is not comfortable with this and leaves.

Analia gets raped in the prison showers.

Iggy meets with Ronny, the Cuban,
(Leandro's drug connection since Renato burned his labs)
finds out about Anas going to Medellin.

Paola has a pre marital meet with the padre, Leandro tries to speed things along, but where is Iggy, oh here he comes, he was busy,
more important than our marriage, Paola asks.

Anas, Conrado and Adan spend the night in the jungle, next day Adan calls home,
Delia lets him know Vero took Lu to the doctors.

the results are back and the doc wants to see Lu, as Vero jumps up too, Lu says no, I want to see him alone, well ok and Vero sits back down alone, and Iggy sits next to her, what, and begins to sweet talk her or what ever you call it, as he paws her, hands sliding up her thighs, talking about laying beside her, now it's your daughter I like, Vero is totally freaked by the time the nurse comes to get her, Iggy smiles.

Lu is just fine, the doc says,
would you like to tell your mom or should I,
I'm pregnant,
wow, Vero is in the "Twilight Zone", this can't be, it's only been 2 days since Iggy was there,
6 weeks I think the doctor said,
so Vero talks to him alone, but she was raped,
no sign of that, the doc says.

in the prison yard a guard comes to get Analia, follow me.
she gets her stuff back,
and is released,
but first she calls long distance, Santiago, Chile,
and walks out of prison in her Porno Premiere gown to an empty street.

Anas seems to have smoothed things over with Lensi,
he wants to know who their pilot will be,
oh, but he's dead!
no, I just talked to him... Anas says.
what the, were they set up? everyone wonders.

Vero and Lu arrive home, Lu is trying to smooth things over about her pregnancy,
I know how you feel, Lu says,
a totally Iggy freaked Vero replies, you have no idea how I feel.

(hmm, "En otra piel" the villaina was injecting herself with a diet drug that simulated pregnancy)

Rita Corona is upset over the dead policemen,
(oh and all the tapes were destroyed)
Riquelme, always the gentleman lets her know she is not alone.

Irene overhears Renato and Olmedo, about Elias, did you kill him?
(why does Renato even talk to her)
he was a traitor, he tells her.

Analia has changed clothes and is collecting her boys, Renato wants a word,
I never told them anything, she swears on her sons.

Silvana and Elias are still chatting in the interrogation room,
but wait,
Saul is behind the 2-way glass taking notes,
until Riquelme chases him out,
who doesn't mind watching Silvana himself.

Saul calls Renato, 2 things,
as he rolls that toothpick around his mouth,
Elias is being moved to Palm Beach ?? and is going into the witness protection program.
Analia spilled on her husband.

Analia swings by her house, that's all been tossed by the police,
to pick up some things,
I think she told Renato where she's staying,
with a friend.

Leandro keeps talking to Iggy, as if it will make him any smarter,
they know about the dead pilot,
Leandro says, the war in Miami will be won in Colombia.

Irene is drinking her way into Renato's heart,
in somebody's nightmare,
when Olmedo pops in,
Irene leaves and Renato talks business, Analia and Elias.

Anas and crew have wrapped up their jungle vacation and are driving out,
when they are stopped,
guns all around, their hands in the air...

Dueños
Thanks muchly, deb, for a succinct and helpful recap. I hope the doctor is right about Lu's being 6 weeks pregnant. That would surely point to Chad as the father. The thought of her carrying Iggy's spawn nauseates me, but I think that's not a likely scenario. I don't know whether modern pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy after just a couple of days, but surely in the 70s that wasn't possible. That's not to say that Iggy isn't nauseating and a threat, just that he's not the father. Ojalá.

Thanks for mentioning the bit about the tapes being destroyed. I didn't catch that. But when were they destroyed? Did Renato and Olmeda burn the van? I don't remember their doing so.

I hated the prison scene. It seems as if the novela writers feel compelled to include such a scene. Oh well....

I think Analía told Renato that she would be staying with a friend, and she mentioned the area, but she didn't give him either her friend's name or a specific address.

Yesterday, Romy said "I miss my Pote and Anas is no Teresa (LRDS)." I agree, but/and I think the contrast is deliberate. I found it very easy to root for Teresa, Pote, et al in La Reina del Sur. At the time that novela was shown, I think some people (not on CarayCaray) complained that it was glorifying narcotraficantes, and I think Dueños is very intentionally trying to make Anas et al less likeable. There are the bad bad guys like Iggy and LQ who are even worse, but I find myself not drawn to Anas at all, even though I hope she defeats LQ. But I agree with Romy that Renato is no Pote and Anas is no Teresa.

DUENOS:

Great recap Deb, very funny too!

Juanita, I think the tapes were destroyed by the shots into the van.

Iggy said that Lensi is his cousin! I think Leandro even called Lensi, or maybe had Iggy do it off camera. But then plan is cut off the heads of Conrado and Adan, but bring back Anas alive, so Leandro can torture her! I can't see how, but I don't think any of that will happen. Maybe Anas can offer them more money.

Yes, Lu must be pregnant by Chad. And I guess the bruise that Iggy left (I do think he raped her) was apparently gone by the time the doc examined her.

Renato is really in a quandry. Yes, he was sort of just looking out for Anas by having her watched, but you just don't do that with your boss. So there would be major problems if Anas found out. What if Renato did sleep with Irene? That would be even worse, Irene could threaten to reveal THAT, and I think Anas would be done with him. He really needs to find a way to silence Irene, although killing her isn't a good option.

Renato also has to deal with Gina, Analia and Elias. Gina, he can't even find. Analia - would he kill her for telling the cops everything? Elias - they're going to try to kill him at the Palm Beach transfer.

But since everything usually goes wrong, who can predict? BTW, if Adan and Conrado did get killed, and Anas found out about Renato betraying her, since Analia was a traitor, Alejo is in jail, guess what? Except for Olmeda, Irene and Modesta, Anas would have NOBODY!

Dueños

Thanks, Deb. Terrific recap. My favorite verse:

Irene is drinking her way into Renato's heart,
in somebody's nightmare,
-- lol

Lu vomited the night of Iggy’s visit, so my guess is she was most definitely already pregnant. At least Vero has the comfort of knowing her grandbaby’s daddy is a jobless teenager rather than a psycho hitman/rapist. Seems Vero is not going to tell Lu about the rape and I guess there is no point to do so now.

Did I hear correctly that Analia has plans to head with her kids for the next plane to Chile?

I give Anas an “A” for guts, heading into LQ’s homeland to best him. Has she noticed how useless Conrado has been in this venture? And isn’t he drunk or high at the table? I feel for Adàn because after years of working in finance, he’s got a job with a CEO who values his advice and instincts. I think he likes this job, but at what price?

The acting here is first rate. I didn’t understand all the words, but Iggy’s menace and Vero’s fear and anger as he showed her his hidden gun and stroked her leg was so tense. I'm surprised she didn't vomit when he told her he raped her daughter.

No sightings of Érika lately. What’s up with that?

Dueños

wow, thanks everyone for your comments, I really don't get all of the conversations and so I really appreciate it when you guys fill in the holes.

Duenos

I'm done rooting for Renato too. Poor cops. He's in quite a pickle though. he might be able to explain the guy following Anas and Conrado, blaming a mistrust in Conrado. But he can't very well explain why Gina is still alive since he made it clear to Anas that she wasn't.

I don't hate Gina, but that baby might be better off with Silvana, assuming she lives.

Kelly

Dueños

Thanks so much for your recap, Deb. It's pretty late in the day to comment, but I've been pretty swamped at work.

I wonder who Analía called: her mother? She was trying to get her mother to contact that guy that I think used to be her boyfriend, but her mom hadn't succeeded.

Yep, the scene in the prison bathroom was disgusting. And is this insistence on every woman who's imprisoned being attacked by a burly female meant to appeal to some twisted male fantasy?

Vero seemed pretty dim last night. She kept insisting her daughter had been raped and not hearing the part about 6 weeks of pregnancy. She couldn't seem to get it that Lu and Chad had done the deed. I hate that Lu is pregnant. They're not even out of high school.

I don't remember Iggy saying that Lensi was his cousin, rather that he had a cousin near there who could arrange the interception of Anas and her drugs. But maybe I didn't hear correctly.

Dueños
Well, they announced at the end of tonight's episode that we're in Ultimas Semanas.

Dueños
I agree that Vero seemed rather dense after hearing about Lu's pregnancy, but I think in this case her denseness is quite understandable. She was really freaked out by Iggy's sudden appearance, behaviour, and revelation that he lusted after Lu and had "eaten" her. She couldn't process anything normally after that, especially not news about Lu's being pregnant. It's not surprising that she saw the pregnancy as somehow related to what Iggy had just told her.

Duenos
Iggy is so disgusting. I hope Veronica is the one who gives him what he deserves for raping her daughter. Maybe she can cut his man things off and watch him bleed to death.

DUEÑOS, Miércoles

Those writers sure love to fake us out. When last we left our characters, Anas, Conrado and Adán were in a jeep, packed with cocaine and cash, riding through Colombia. Leandro had given orders to kill. Another jeep jumps out, blocks our guys’ jeep, and guns are drawn. Anas is shaking. But no, it turns out these are friends of that pilot Badagan. Yes, he was killed. But his sister, Linda Badagan is here, and she’s really pretty! She also likes Anas and crew, wants to work with them. All right!

But it turns out, that although she’s a pilot, she can’t transport the quantity that Anas wants to do, it won’t fit in her little plane. However, she knows other people who could handle it, except that it would cost $3 million. Okay, that’s a lot, but Anas HAS a lot, and she agrees. They’re going to do business, and transport something like 400 kilos each week. They go back into the town to celebrate.

Lu tells Chad she’s pregnant. She’s afraid he’ll want to break up, but no, he’s ecstatic, this is a blessing. He’s going to look for work right away. Mom Vero comes in, told them not to be together in Lu’s bedroom with the door closed, but Lu points out it’s a little late for that.

Bob has been assigned to keep an eye on Analía, and he watches as she takes Agustin to the jail to visit Alejo. Alejo tearfully greets them, and everything’s fine until Analía says the lawyer wants you to sign these papers, just a formality. Alejo reads them, however, and they are permission for Analía to take the children out of the country. What?! No WAY will he sign this, not believing Analía that they were just a formality. Where is she taking the kids? She tells him it’s for the children’s own good and leaves him screaming and slamming down the telephone, powerless.

Analía talks with Vero and Érica, assuring them that of course she didn’t tell the cops anything. Érica’s look tells us that she’s a bit dubious about this claim.

It turns out she may not have needed Alejo’s signature, as she later turns up in Chile, and meets her Mom. She also apparently has both kids with her, having picked up Tomás from the hospital, who is pretty much all better. Before she gets to Chile, we see some tough guys in Chile tie up someone, pour gasoline on him, and light a match, burning him to death. I think this guy was the high ranking official that Analía wanted her mother to contact, but I’m not sure. Can someone else fill in here?

DUEÑOS, Part 2

So, it doesn’t appear that Renato did much against Analía, but maybe she’s still being tracked. His other job is to do something about Elias. Renato has his other problems, too, such as Gina being alive, and his spying on Anas. Irene continues to try to get him to sleep with her, he accuses her of blackmail, she says no, it’s just like um, a business arrangement. Right. At one point Renato pays Bob, gives him extra money to keep quiet about the spying thing.

Elias and Silvana are going to be transported to some secure location. They get into a car, escorted by another car or two, and Elias says he has a bad feeling about this. Sure enough, some thugs hired by Renato cut off the car, and the machine guns start firing. First a few cops are killed, then the car with Elias and Silvana is stopped. The thugs fire round after round into the car, breaking all the windows. This does not look good.

Silvana wakes up in a hospital, she’s okay, it’s a day later. The nurse says she has broken ribs, but she’ll be okay. What about Elias? The nurse says you were in a traffic accident, but you were the only one they found in the car. Uh oh. Cut to some barn, Elias is tied up, Renato, Olmeda and Bob are staring at him. Renato asks to be alone with him. I’m thinking he’ll give a big speech, and somehow Elias will escape. But no, he just says you’re a traitor, and shoots him once. I’m fairly sure he’s dead, especially when the cleaners Marcelo and his wife, get a call, they’ve got a long night ahead of them. They gather up their sulfuric acid and dogs, looks like another night of enjoyment.

Montalban and Ferrara are both furious, each blaming each other for the fact that the cops and Elias were attacked, and Elias is probably dead. Ferrara insults the mayor again, Montalban says watch yourself, the mayor has told me he’s going to dismantle your whole group if you don’t get results pronto! Ferrara calls the cops in, tells them they’d better all hit the street and get some drug arrests, or they’ll be looking for work as security guards. Rita Corona is tired of the whole mess.

Silvana pulls off her wires, leaves the hospital, strides into the police station, and is mad as hell at Ferrara. Riquelme tries to calm her down.

Vero and Érica are at a party with all the porno people, wondering how come Analía hasn’t returned their calls (she’s in Chile, ladies!). The party’s a bit too hip for Vero, who excuses herself. Érica walks in on Sergio, who’s snorting some coke, she’s not happy about that. He apologizes for the drugs, but tells her he can’t help it, and what he REALLY can’t help is, he’s in LOVE with her! She quickly pushes him away, telling him he’s not her boyfriend, not even her friend. He’s NOTHING to her. Remember that!

Adán calls Vero from Colombia, is everything okay? Vero is haunted by visions of Iggy, but doesn’t say anything. She also doesn’t tell Adán about Lu’s pregnancy, just that she has something important to tell him. Okaaaaay. Adán hangs up, Linda seems to like him, she’s not from a drug family originally either, just got into this for the money, and before you know it, they’re kissing. Uh oh again.

More kissing. In their hotel room, Anas and Conrado are soooo happy, they got the business in order, Conrado tells Anas he wants to be with her forEVER. Anas is skeptical, but likes the sentiment, as they start to make love.....and the door BURSTS open, two guys start shooting, Conrado is hit, Anas kills one of the two thugs, then has her gun pointed at the other one, who’s also pointing at her, saying, I’ve got a message for you, from Leandro Quezada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DUENOS:

Erica also got introduced to the co-star of her next film, a hunky guy names Harry Dodds (I think). I remember was back in the early history of XXX, there was a famous guy name Harry Reems. Anyway, Carmen giggles, telling Erica that Harry is "well endowed".

Erica also told Vero why she's agreed to do more films. "Because I want to, and because I can. Satiisfied?"

Dueños

Thanks, Hombre. Terrific recap.

Technically, Adán is on a break since Vero says she's about to divorce him, so would it be cheating? So much for being in the business for the good of his family.

Lu’s got some nerve getting cheeky with mom when she’ll be dependent on her for free baby care.

IMHO Vero needs to let loose a little instead of worrying about Adán and Lu 24/7. The porno party was pretty tame. Érika's new co-star is hot.

Maybe Analia forged Alejo’s signature. I couldn’t blame her.

Dueños
Wonderful recap, Hombre. Many thanks!
I was very confused about whatever happened in Chile. I have no idea who the guy is who was burned alive. Ugh! Scenes like this remind me that the ISIS barbarians don't have a lock on barbarity.

I too am under the impression that Renato's single shot killed Elias. Even the good bad guys don't forgive traición.

So was that just some sort of hospital robe that Silvana was wearing over her street clothes? Wouldn't the hospital normally remove those clothes? ("No, please leave my clothes on, I may have to make a quick getaway!")

Dueños

I will put up a recap tonight. I didn't watch last night, so will have to play catch-up with two this evening! I had Spanish class and then I could not resist watching the Warriors beat the Hawks in the recording I'd made of the game while attending class. Very late night, to say the least. I thought I'd fast forward through some of the game but it was SO good!

Dueños

thanks so much Hombre, last nights show was an odd collection of parts with some action scenes thrown in, you did a nice job putting it all together.

I think that was Olmedo watching Analia and Bob was watching Elias, I was yelling at Silvana not to get in that car with her brother, take the bus.

and the weird hospital scene where she is told she was in an accident, I was wondering if it was really a hospital, nice trick getting dressed with an IV in your arm.

so Riquelme's office is on the other side of the mirror glass of the interrogation room.

and the usual scenes with Renato, playing up his honor and such, he tolerates Irene because she is Anas' mother, (where she deserves no respect at all), and his little talk with Elias calling him a traitor to his family, (ignoring the fact that Anas killed his dad) and killing him before Anas gets back (per his instructions) and also calling Bob a traitor for telling Irene about watching Conrado and Anas, and when Bob says Irene is a $20 whore, (which she is) Renato demands respect, so Renato is pretty stiff playing it by the book, but this Conrado thing has really put a crack in it.

not sure on the Chile stuff, I'm just waiting to see more, but I think Analia's mom was with a well-connected guy of the new regime, that she was proud of.

I'm not sure what happened with Adan and the new girl, first they were in the bar at night and next day they were in her hotel room packing, did Adan say he plans to quit the business when he gets back?

I was surprised by Chad's reaction to Lu's pregnancy, how will Daytona fit in here, and I suppose he'll hit up Lu's dad for a job, again, who will be taking him in, or out.

I guess Leandro's guys can't just kill people, they have to deliver a message first.

at least Erica is not staying with the coca, but she does look a little lost since Conrado left her.

Dueños

also, it was interesting watching Elias being dealt with while on the other side of the coin, Saul is betraying the police.

"No, please leave my clothes on, I may have to make a quick getaway!"

Juanita - I was struck that Silvana's clothes were clean as a whistle. Not a speck of blood or grime after leaving a bullet-riddled, upturned car.

I felt the show was a bit disjointed but is Elias dead? I hope so for Renato's sake. Analia made to Chile then what, this guy she wanted to get in touch with is a psycho a la Iggy. Conrado is a fool, useless. Even Kate said Anas is not a nice person and even if you could muster sympathy for Teresa not Anas.

thanks deb for the recap - hit the highlights succinctly

ITA re Arturo maybe that's why he's so grumpy all the time.

Tierra
ok guys - going to try something different
going to try to just hit the highlights - the stuff we really need to know
cause othewise it takes me too long

Tues & Weds (mostly)
Sophia proves to Art that her father loved his sister by showing the deed for the apt he bought for them to live in and (what seems to be more convincing) the wedding rings with their names inscribed inside
Art tries one more time to win Sophia back & convince her his love for her is true. She says their time is over.

Sam crashes Pati's wedding - that he didn't know about. Tears all around

Dario has a conundrum, Flavio wants his job back, and is apparently a good physical trainer. But Irina hates Flavio now and Dario has just hired her as the spa's spokesmodel. What to do
Flavio gets his job back
Irina is furious and wants to quit but Dario threatens to sue her for breach of contract.

The henchies went to Juana's and started the place on fire, leaving Lucia unconscious in the kitchen. She just had a dream the night before where Alma came to her.
Her brother, Sam & Flavio run into the burning building to rescue her.

The henchies go to Pati's wedding where are Valverde, Leo, and of course Matamoros to report a job well done. Leo & Matamoros snicker triumphantly.
Later Sidepiece & Leo hiss warnings and threats at each other

@ the hospital Juana is inconsolable even before the doctor come to tell her Lucia is dead.

Sophia goes to talk to Nestor - even though she can't trust Arturo again, she wants to drop the charges. They are interrupted by news of the fire.
Later she tells her sisters about her discoveries. Irina is meditative. Andrea is furious. So furious she wants to erase any trace of the boys from the barn and has the staff clean it out (after sniffing one of Sam's shirts)

Tierra

ok not as short as I thought

After a rather brusque graveside service, Sophia and Irina arrive w/large bouquets. Juana is gracious.

Caye & Vero's mom discuss the girls. Caye @ least understands that the situation is difficult for them. Leo slides in and gloats about the fire & Lucia's death. The women are horrified (maybe they do have souls after all)

Sophia tells her mom she dropped the charges with predictable results
Caye says she will press charges of her own. Sophia responds in that case she will testify on behalf of the boys.
Sometime later Caye passes this news on to Leo

Sophia has been investigating Leo since Pablo told her he saw her father & Leo fighting in the house before they went outside and everyone at the party saw them fighting. Pablo heard her father say something about finding out Leo had done something illegal, and later saw Leo steal some papers from Ignacio's desk.
Sophia breaks into a drawer in Leo's room and finds a card for a private investigator which she hides when Leo walks in.
She then confronts him (again) about the papers he took from her father's desk

Sidepiece goes to congratulate Art on his freedom, and talk horses w/him. She's flirting, he's more interested in the horses

Pati goes to see Andrea to tell her she's not w/Sam anymore. Andrea pretends not to care.

Bea talks to Sam and when she finds out he's single now, she proposes. He decides since he can't be w/the one he loves he'll try to love the one he's with. When he tells Flavio, Flavio is way thrilled.

Art, Sidepiece and the horses. She plays too rough w/the horse, he tries to warn her, but she's not listening. Finally the horse has had enough and dumps her. (And I just learned her name -Isadora (probably won't remember))
She plays up her fall so he will have to carry her in his tanned and muscular arms into the house where he gently deposits her on the bed. As if she didn't have enough sympathy, she gives him sad childhood stories.

Big blowup between Sophia and Caye over what else - Los Gallardos. When the rest of the family hears the shouting and comes in, Caye tells them about Sophia dropping the charges and then promptly has a panic attack, thus winning.

Nestor & Brigitte give the romantic dinner thing another try - hopefully sans bullets this time. Not without interruptions though, Brigitte gets a call from Valverde who wants her to come and see his new ranch and write a story about it.
Nestor is not jealous, he is genuinely concerned - Valverde is dangerous

Sidepiece is hunting the most dangerous animal - Arturo Gallardo. Part of her strategy includes malingering and feigning sleep and letting her towell slip strategically.

Caye hasn't slept a wink (but you wouldn't know it by her face or her brain) She puts together the pieces and asks Leo if he had anything to do w/ the fire or Lucia's death. He denies it and then puts the moves on her.

so much for only the highlights

TIERRA

Sneaky two shoes, thanks for the numerous highlights! I just got ho e and haven't caught up yet, but I am looking forward to it.

Yikes, Lucia is dead?!?! I thought she was underused and needed more plot, but not that. She seemed sweet.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Parte 1 de 3

HOTEL IN MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA

The “socios” are all getting busy: Conrado with Anastasia and Adán with Linda Barragán, while a sweet bolero plays in the background. A shot rings out. Anas shoots one of the guys and a smug sicario with a paisa accent shoots Conrado and emotes: ¿Qué pasó, amorcito, se encasquilló el fierro? (Did your gun jam?) He goes on, smirking away, "Este es un regalo de Leandro Quezada", pointing a gun at her. [So did the writers or the stupid sicario forget that Leandro gave orders not to harm a hair on the head of this delicia? He wants to “take care of her” himself.]

CASA ÉRIKA

Speaking of smug, we get a look at the eminently punchable face of Sergio de Franco. He’s declared his love for Érica and is convinced she’ll go for him eventually. [¡Ni muerta, mujer, digo yo!] Érika sits down in front of Sergio’s leftover coke, scaring me.

SANTIAGO DE CHILE

Analía and her insufferable mother have arrived at a poolside party. Her mother, name forgotten by me, says that this is where they’ll find Casanegra. ([I thought it was Casaneira, but no.] She tells her daughter she looks fabulous, identical to herself! [Not on the best day of her life!] Her lovely mother rags on her for not having come away from Miami with a boatload of money. We see Casanegra with his fiancée Inés.

MIAMI POLICE STATION

Ferrara, aka The Most Heartless Man in Miami, is just annoyed that Silvana won’t stop griping about her missing brother. When Riquelme tries to explain the concept of simple humanity to him, all Sal can do is take a jab at Riquelme about the frequent visits to Riquelme and only Riquelme by Silvana. Said Silvana enters and goes right after Ferrara, saying he was the one who talked Elias into being an infiltrator and, if he’s missing, it’s Ferrara’s fault.

SANTIAGO DE CHILE

Analía sees Gerardo with Inés and overhears her say something about them getting married. But I don’t think Gerardo likes the way Inesita doesn’t even want a tiny kiss in public. When Analía finally gets his attention, Gerardo accuses her of running away when things got hot in Chile. With some pain in his voice, he congratulates her for being the only woman can boast of having dumped him.

CASA ÉRIKA

We see the actor who’s going to be in the next porno. Quite the babe, but Érica doesn’t seem that impressed. Sergio plans to have his new film be a porno Cleopatra. Carmen thinks he’s nuts!

NEST OF THE PAJARITOS

We get a look at where Marcelo and Teresa put the victims of narco violence into barrels with lye (soda caustica). I thought they were siblings, but it seems they’re married and parents of children!

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Parte 2 de 3

SANTIAGO DE CHILE

The awful guy, Jorge, introduced at his dance club a while back, arrives at the party, complete with bodyguard. He gives Analía the once over. Analía gets her way and Gerardo agrees to have lunch or dinner with him, later telling Inesita that he doesn’t know that woman!

As I mentioned in a post a couple of days ago, I’m reading a novel taking place in the present day about some men who were exiles from Chile during Pinochet. The text makes quite a few references to the atrocities that happened under that regime. When Jorge was burning up the guy who refused to give up anything, he called him a Communist. So I think the ghastly Jorge, besides owning a club, is somehow involved with torturing people for the government. I also read a book by Isabel Allende: Mi País Inventado in which she recounted a “camp” Pinochet organized that was run by former Nazis hired to torture his “enemies”.

HOTEL IN MIAMI

Riquelme walks Silvana to her room because she’s nervous. They kiss, but only that.

CASA CARDONA

Silvana shows up and tries to get Renato to tell her where Elias is. She swears the two of them will leave town and they’ll never be seen again. When Renato evades her questions she yells that they’ll all fall one by one.

CASA DE LINDA BARRAGÁN EN COLOMBIA

Adán has come to stay at Linda’s house. She tells him her lawyers will fix his killing the matón because it was self defense. Adán is very moody and pensive. He seems very distressed by having killed someone. Linda wants him to come back another time and she’ll show him more of her ranch. He tells her she’s beautiful both inside and out. Back to bed they go. I can’t say I blame Adán. Vero has frozen him out for a very long time.

CASA ROMERO

Luciana is very lucky to have such a loving and understanding mother. Vero tells her that her father will accept the situation. She also gives her a lovely talk about how beautiful it is to be a mother.

CASA CARDONA

The increasingly annoying Irene insists on seeing some photos Modesta was looking at. They’re photos of Elias and Silvana as children. Nevertheless, she rather coldly tells Irene that she knows Elias was ordered killed.

LOS DUEÑOS DEL PARAÍSO – JUEVES – Parte 3 de 3

MIAMI HIGH SCHOOL

Yikes! Iggy is stalking Lu at school. And, as if that weren’t enough, Daytona and the other two witches approach Lu and Chad, going on about prom.

CASA ROMERO

Adán has come home. Vero tells him she needs to talk with him. [Another great scene for Géraldine] Tears running down her face, she tells him that he must promise her, whether they are together or not, to get out of the drug trade. Then she drops the bomb: “They raped your daughter. It was Davíd Costa. He did it in your own house. And Luciana is pregnant! She could be expecting the child of a rapist.” Vero tells him that Costa himself told her what he did, and that she’s already taken Lu to the doctor. Lu had had relations before that with Chad. Adan remarks that it’s too soon since the rape for it to be the rapist’s child. Vero says she thought of that but maybe he did it earlier as well. She says that he’s a psychopath and no one, not the police and not Adán, can stop him.

Vero and Adán agree never to tell Lu what happened to her. Vero begs him not to leave her alone with this. They embrace.

MIAMI HIGH SCHOOL

Chad sits next to Daytona [?], who tells him she wants twice as much weed as before. Talking in class gets the two of them sent to the principal’s office. On his way there Chad sees Iggy walking around on the campus. Iggy has seen Chad earlier, close to Lu. I think Chad’s actuarial life expectancy is dropping fast.

CASA CARDONA

The second Anas is back Irene, for spite, tells her that Renato betrayed her. Just then Renato enters and comes right out with it. “When you went to Red Beach, I sent Bob Venegas to watch you.” Irene pops up that he’s her lover. Renato rolls his eyes, doubtless remembering Bob saying she was a $20 whore [actually he said pesos, which is worse!]. Irene says that Renato paid Venegas to follow you and kill Conrado.

Anas asks Irene to let her talk to Renato alone. “Is it true?” Renato says he was only worried about her. He also says he doesn’t regret it. Anas embraces him! She says she doesn’t know what she’d do without him. Feeling on more secure ground, Renato says he has to tell her the truth, he doesn’t care for the Chilean one bit. A bit more gently than the last time she said it, Anas tells him he needs to have an attitude change because she’s in love with Conrado.

NEST OF THE PAJARITOS

Marcelo and the guy who seems retarded leave for some lye that they need. And what they’ve been hinting at nearly the whole show by multiple shots at a bloody Elias comes to pass. He isn’t dead!

What's with Renato? Only head shots hombre, uff uff. I said in yesterday's comment I wasn't sure Renato did the job with one bullet. hanks for the recap.

DUENOS:

Thanks, Novelera, a masterful recap, including all sorts of names of characters that are hard for me to hear, and lot of background info.

I think even Gerardo said to Analia, your husband's a communist. Analia replied he's not perfect, but he's no communist. So everyone was sensitive at that time in Chile, with the right wing guys in charge, later to be replaced by Allende, who was socialist if not communist. I think the US was on the side of the right wing guys back then, even after it turned out Allende was actually not bad, and the people liked him (could have this wrong).

It's ironic (but typical for novelas) that as soon as Adan gets some action, Vero wants him never to leave her side.

Analia's dress looked plastered on. I liked it :)

So Jorge is that guy who tortured and burned the guy the other day.

I'm hoping somehow that Vero, Adan, Luciana and Chad survive this whole thing (and bring down Iggy). I wouldn't be surprised if Elias and Silvana survive (he seems to be some kind of superman. First he gets hit in the head with a baseball bat, and has no head trauma, no headache, just a few red makeup spots on his face). Then he gets shot in the chest and after sleeping it off, pops right up. Wow!)

I bet Erica does snort that coke. Even if she doesn't, I think she'll end up some hardened porn star, and it won't be pretty. BTW, I think in the early days of porn, some directors, such as the Mitchell Brothers, who made Behind the Green Door, did produce a number of period pornos, like Cleopatra (there actually was one called Cleopatra, but that was in the 80's, and was European).

Dueños
Muchas gracias, novelera, for yet another superb recap.

I still don't understand what Analía hopes to achieve by her visit to Chile. Seh's intent on talking to Casanegra, who apparently is her ex-novio, but what is it that he can do for her?

And what's up with the usually careful and skilled Renato. He's now failed to kill Gina (probably deliberately failed), he's failed to get her to go away and never come back, and he's failed twice to kill Elias (and I doubt that either of those attempts was a deliberate failure). But he was under no really stress when he shot Elias, and surely he knew where to shoot to inflict a mortal wound. I don't get it.

Duenos

Renato did let Gina live. He put her on a bus and told her never to come back. Now that she is back, he's going to be in deep doodoo when Anas finds out, which is probably why he's been a little less cool than usual.

Elias is probably Jesus. First he survives a beating, now getting shot. If he lives through the pajaritos, then everyone will need to be much, much nicer to him.

Surprised Silvana doesn't try to get the baby. She wanted the kid and has a better claim on him since she's his sister and Anas is nothing to the baby. Maybe that should be her next step?

Dueños

Thanks for the kind words, Hombre. When this novela started I never expected a Chilean side to it. And it fit so well with what we are reading and discussing in my Advanced Spanish and Literature class.

The time line of what is going on and as it pertains to Alejo and Analía is this: Salvador Allende, a member of the Socialist Party, was elected president in 1970. He nationalized some industries, which did not go down well with the elites. This is the year that Alejo and Analía came to the US, and their dissatisfaction with "communism" was the reason Analía gave to Ferrara.

There was a military coup in September 1973 aided by the US CIA. Even people who wanted the Allende regime to fall got a surprise when Pinochet, a General in the Army, did not give back power to a civilian government. Allende supposedly committed suicide in 1973, but there's some doubt about that.

When Analía returns to Chile it's 1977, and the right wing is thoroughly entrenched. Several characters in Chile, among them Analía's mother, have made remarks about how much better things are now in Chile. Better for the elites to be sure, but not for the folks without money and the folks who wanted to restore democracy.

Thanks, Novelera. Fine recap and I appreciate the background on Chile. Makes me want to read more about it. My fave: the eminently punchable face of Sergio de Franco - lol

A welcome funny moment: the awkwardness between Silvana and Riquelme after that sudden kiss. I vote these two “Most Romantic Couple” in this TN, then Lu and Chad. Anas and Conrado, nope – She wants to be loved, but he’s just climbing the business ladder. Anas hugging Renato was more romantic than anything she’s done with Conrado. Adán and his new bedmate, nope – He’s just horny, though she may want more than that.

The porno “Cleopatra” idea reminded me of “Caligula,” produced by the publisher of Penthouse magazine. A friend went to see it and told me she rushed out vomiting. As she wretched in the lobby, the usher calmly asked, “You’re not enjoying the movie?” Helen Mirren was in it, though I believe she was just topless or something, no more. So, who knows, maybe one day Érika will win an Oscar like Helen.

Usually the good guys in TNs underestimate the evilness of the bad guys. This is the first time I recall seeing a TN character get the deep evil she’s facing. I thought Vero was nuts thinking the baby could be Iggy’s, but it’s plausible since he’s wacked and stealth and Lu is, uh, not aware of what’s up with her body. Iggy could’ve snuck in the house before, chloroformed her, and raped her. Thank goodness we in Viewerville know that didn’t happen.

Romy - I too think the girls are taking this 'they made us fall in love w/them for revenge' thing too far. If it was just revenge wouldn't the boys be all 'ha ha see ya later babe'?

DUEÑOS, Viernes

Yes, Elias lives. Throughout the episode, although he was shot in the chest, we see him pretend to be dead while they strip him to his undies, watch as the bozos dump another guy in the vat of lye, wait til Marcelo is on some errand and Teresa is relaxing in another building listening to boring music, get up, grab a tire iron and conk the only remaining worker, lift him up and dump him into the lye, call Silvana on the phone, saying he's at a farm in Hermosilla, run out into the cornfields, and fall down. The bozos finally realize he's gone, and rush out into the fields with guns, searching and searching as it gets darker. At the end of the episode, Elias trips on something, falls down, and screams out. We see the bozos listening to the sound, closing in with their guns, they may have found him. Could this be Elias's final frontier? Are you KIDDING? Of course he'll elude them.

Meanwhile, Silvana has told the cops that Elias is in Hermosilla, which is two hours from Miami. They have to find him, or he'll be killed before morning! Nobody except Riquelme seems to listen to her. Riquelme says they've started a search, but there are no farms in Hermosilla that fit the description. Sorry. They're still going to search, but of course Florida's pretty big....Silvana stalks out, revs up her car, SHE'll find Elias, no problem. She drives a ways into the night, and I see she's got a map, possibly leading to the bad guy's hideout. I'm not asking which of the writers gave her this, when up from behind comes an ominous car....no, it's Riquelme. They get into the car, he's going to help her, and of course they (whoops!) kiss again. Can't help it. I'm guessing they'll easily locate Elias, who'll be just fine, except for some red makeup spots on his face. After all, he was only shot in the chest, right?

I guess Érica didn't snort that coke. She's walking along the beach in another of her outrageously low cut outfits. I'm enjoying the fact that the ladies in this show (or maybe the costume designers) have really taken the 70's to heart in the way many of them (Anas, Érica, Analía, Daisy, even Carmen) go braless. Ah yes, mammaries......(oh sorry, memories). Anyway, Conrado shows up, and shows Érica that he took a bullet. You see what I do for you? he brags. While you're out there making porno films, I'm on the front lines for us. Sometimes I think it's more than I can bear. Oh c'mon, replies Érica, I'm not falling for your little sympathy games. First of all, I'm going to do those films, that's decided. Sure, says Conrado, you've got everything you need. No, I don't have a MAN. You're never home, your business is everything to you, you're acting like a little boy. We'll this gets Conrado going, he responds by forcefully kissing Érica, telling her she's the love of his life, he'll love her til the end of time...and it works, before you know it, they're in bed, making love, although Érica is still sort of pulling back, saying I'm not sure about this...

Enter Sergio and Carmen, both dressed to the nines, the door was opened, and whoops! They catch Conrado and Érica in bed, well it's no big thing, this is the 70's you know, just wanted to drop by and discuss the new film. They tell Érica it's Cleopatra and Her Men, and Érica likes that.

DUEÑOS, Part 2

Paola is trying on her wedding dress, being helped by Gina. Gina tells her she looks gorgeous, and Paola decides Gina's not really so bad. She wonders if Elizondo will like her dress. Gina says you're calling him by his last name? Well, says Paolo, he's always been Elizondo to me. Enter Elizondo, and Paola freaks out, covering the boob part of her dress, don't you know it's bad luck to see the bride in her wedding dress before the wedding? Iggy says he doesn't believe in that, it's just old wives' tales, he has something he has to tell Leandro. He goes off to find the boss, as Gina agrees that she doesn't believe in that superstition either. But we telenovela watchers know it's TRUE.

Iggy finds Leandro, I've got bad news, boss. You know how we were supposed to kill those guys in Colombia, the bitch's associates, and her? Well, we sort of messed up, and our own guys got killed. But I'll kill that bitch! Leandro is not happy about this. Boss, I'll take full responsibility, whatever punishment you have, bring it on. I don't know, says Leandro, when someone doesn't do their job, do we just punish, I mean, I'm a little disappointed, you're supposed to marry my daughter, be my successor, but....at this point guess who shows up? José Carlos! He strides into the room, wants to talk business, what he was saying to Leandro the last time (about working for Leandro, to be his successor). Iggy says get out of here, punk, goes to punch him, and José EASILY avoids the punch and gets Iggy in a headlock. Leandro is impressed. José says you need animals like this guy here, to do the dirty work, but to run things? I'm going to prove to you that I DO have your blood in me, that I CAN get results, that I'll show you I've got what it takes....Boss. Leandro is even MORE impressed!

Daytona is working on prom, Luciana doesn't want to have anything to do with her. Later, Lu opens up her locker, finding a paper, it's her pregnancy test results! She's furious, tells Chad she's sure Daytona planted it there. But Chad's not so sure. He remembers seeing “David Costa” outside of the school, in his car, holding a white envelope. Lu, don't jump to conclusions. But she does, rushes down the hall with the envelope, accuses Daytona, who doesn't know what she's talking about, and crashes into a ladder, one of the other mean girls was hanging Prom decorations, and that girl falls off the ladder and has to go the hospital!

Chad goes home, and wants to talk to Adán privately. He tells him that David Costa was at school, and must have put the pregnancy results in Lu's locker. Adán is beyond upset, but maintains his steely gaze. He tells Chad they'll take care of it, but don't say a word to Lu. However, can you keep an eye on her, stay by her side for the next few months? Of course, says Chad, I told you I'll do anything. We're going to be family now, can't I work for you? Well, I'll think about it says Adán, but don't call me suegro. Chad is encouraged by this.

Adán fills in Vero, and she's destroyed, of course. He says they'll go to Anas for help, they'll be together, they're united, he kisses her. She kisses back, but reminds him their marriage is over. Hmmm. They go to Anas's house, and meet with Anas and Renato, telling her that this David Costa, who raped their daughter, has been right under their noses, Vero says she was a fool to be taken in by him (recalling how he even had a baby with him in the supermarket). Renato has his guys check, and very quickly it comes back that David Costa is Ignacio Elizondo, the number 1 killer of the Quezada clan. Adán says I want to kill him with my own bare hands! Vero is in tears about their daughter being raped. Quietly, Anas says I know how you feel. That animal also raped ME. So don't worry. We're going to get him.

DUEÑOS, Part 3

As if Anas didn't have enough problems, Sergio and Carmen show up, and after the others have left, tell Anas about the new film. Yeah, it's gonna be Cleopatra and her Men, Cleopatra is going to fall in love with Spartacus, and there's all these other Romans (Carmen chided him earlier that Cleo was Egyptian, but you know, Egyptians, Romans, they all wear those little skirts). Cleopatra, played by Érica, will have to choose between her country and love. It'll be a hit. But there's something you should know, Anastasia. We happened to visit Érica earlier, and she was in bed with Conrado. Yes, they were doing it. Just thought you should know.........Anas looks like steam is coming out of her ears!!!!!

Thanks, Hombre. Terrific recap. My favorite line: and of course they (whoops!) kiss again. Silvana and Riquelme are so cute.

I’m thinking Renato meant to shoot Elias in the chest but actually hit the shoulder, causing only a flesh wound.
I hate horror movies so I’m resenting this TN dragging me through the chainsaw and lye muck of the merry body-disposal-for-hire troop. After making me watch all this gore, Elias damn well better make it out alive.

What oh what is José Carlos’ game? Loved him getting the best of Iggy again.

Poor Paola. She has a princess wedding dress and she’s hoping her frog will turn into a prince.

At last, Anas finds out David Acosta is Iggy! Can’t wait for her to bring on the vengeance.

Scratching my head why Sergio and Carmen squealed to Anas that Conrado slept with Érika. But the look on Renato’s face as he watches Anas’ controlled reaction is priceless.

novelera- thanks so much for Thursday's recap
(I lost my internet connection for a while, que horrors)

and thanks for Fridays Hombre!
(I see we went to ultimas semanas last week)

ah, but they do find Elias, (I was wondering how long it would take them running to catch up to Elias who was crawling)

and where the heck are Sivana and Riquelme who were driving around in separate cars all night?

I think that beach was Erica's backyard, and it was her house where the party was, I mean Conrado's house, as he explains why he just walks in, of course Sergio and Carmen don't have that excuse, or Chad when he is stealing drugs, or Adan when he drops by for a late night chat.

it was funny that Iggy meets his bad guys at the old place, that's all black and charred from when Renato blew it up, I guess they don't have to worry about hidden microphones since Ferrara is only obsessed with Anas.

so after the girl fell off the ladder Chad shows up at casa Romero alone, where's Lu, is she in trouble again?

well it's no whistling today at the human recycling plant, do they have kids or were they talking about their dogs, and where were the dogs during the search? hmm, I imagine these guys have a pretty large jewelry box.

it was interesting watching JC and Leandro face off, with Paola in-between, keeping Iggy at bay.

haha Niecie, that Iggy sure is a frog all right, hmm, I was thinking Sergio spilled on Conrado to see if Anas could keep him away from his star actress and messing up his film.

Dueños
Hombre, thanks so much for your delightfully snarky recap. I loved it!
Wow, cats with nine lives have nothing on Elias! If this were a different sort of program, I'd fear that Elias's amazing escapes will turn out merely to have set him up to be killed by the buffoons who caught up to him at the end of the episode, but we know that's NOT going to happen in this telenovela. Probably Silvana and Riquelme will arrive Just in Time.

Hombre, I confess I never before noticed how similar in sound are "memories" and "mammaries". I wonder whether people learning English ever get them confused.

I'm not sure what to make of José Carlos's expressing strong interest in being LQ's successor. My guess is that this is part of his plan, the part he said would be the most difficult when he was talking to Marina (?).

Question: how did Iggy get hold of Lu's pregnancy report?

Niecie, loved your comment "Poor Paola. She has a princess wedding dress and she’s hoping her frog will turn into a prince."

Dueños

Thanks so much, Hombre for the terrific, fast paced recap. Love your style.

Conrado was pretty funny whining to Érika about his wound that last episode he told Modesta was only a scratch. He made it sound nearly fatal to Érika. And I loved what she said to him. What I need is a real man, and you're a kid.

In addition to Gina Nine Lives, we now have Elias Nine Lives. I thought they really overdid it on the blood. And how in the heck could Renato have done such a bad job? Of course he'll be saved.

Memories and mammaries! Fuuuuny!

I think Sergio ratted out Conrado because he's got a thing for Érika himself. Although I'm not sure if he really knows that Conrado and Anas are now an item, so maybe my theory is off. If he does know, the sleazoid may hope Anas has Conrado killed.

Iggy's actions with the pregnancy test are confusing to me. Does he think the baby is his? Or is he furious that she's been with Chad?

I also loved José Carlos so easily getting the best of Iggy. I'm thinking JC's plan is to bring down his father for revenge. The revenge is something about his mother. After all, he told Marina he had to do something worse than he'd done, so I can't believe he really wants to be a narco.

Renato is such a mensch! When Vero is castigating herself over believing what "Costa" said, he tells her he's sure that it was a Quezada plan to stalk her. He's the anti-Iggy! He can kill people for the cartel, but he has a soft spot for women. And even in his attempt to kill Elias, he told him that his father was capricious and violent, but had honor. And Elias had none and deserved to die, even though he was the son of the man he'd been loyal to for many years. Maybe the writers forgot that Nataniel was going to have him killed thinking there was something going on between Renato and Anas.
