TELEMUNDO Y MÁS: EL SEÑOR DE LOS CIELOS 3, TIERRA DE REYES, AVENIDA BRASIL, etc – week of May 18, 2015
AVENIDA
Debora sure got into MamaL's face quickly yesterday! I guess with a broken heart the gloves come off.
Despite Carlitos' cheating ways I can't help but find him charming. I have no idea though how he is able to get anything done & be successful while juggling three families.
Nina sure is leading Jorgito in circles. I know she does truly care for him, but she totally has that boy confused.
I'm surprised this tn isn't more popular. I watched this novela during its first run on telemundo & it became one of my all time favs.
Other than the great cast and storylines, I love the soundtrack to this tn. Love listening to the Portuguese lyrics!
jlk
Romy
I am loving AB too! Hooked right away when it reminded me of "Amores Perros." Very interesting to see a slice of another culture. And a character so obsessed with revenge that she distances herself from Jorgito.
Question, last week Anita [?] said Jorgito hates Carmina. Any specific reason? I missed some epis a couple weeks in, and I don't know how Jorgito came to be adopted by Tifón and Carmina. Did Carmina do something to hurt him, or is he just picking up on her manipulative vibe?
Clara
jlk--I'm a first run watcher and really am enjoying it immensely, once the depressing first episodes were over and Rita was "rescued" by Batata and Mama Lu. I'm also reading the original recaps, such as they were, done by our dear Madelaine.
I agree Nina is not being straightforward with Jorgito. She herself is giving off some very bad vibes. She pushes him away and then pulls him back to wrap herself around him. (P.S. Why is it that every time the two of them start to make passionate love, the scene cuts off abruptly and usually goes to a commercial. Talk about amor interrumptus....)
Clara--After Rita was adopted by the family from Argentina, we saw that it wasn't long before Carminha showed up at the tiradero wanting her son back. That was Batata/Jorgito. Mama Lu had to let him go with her. He put up a lot of resistance before going with her. We got a glimpse of Max at the tiradero, too--same day? Not sure. We are now fairly certain Jorgito's bio-dad is Max, but Max shows hardly any interest in Jorgito. By this time Carminha was already married to Tifon and took Jorgito to live with them.
I think Jorgito just picked up on her bad vibes. I think he resented being taken away from the tiradero and Mama Lu and had a hard time adjusting to Carminha and her smothering ways. He believes he is only an adopted child, but grew up caring deeply for Tifon.
In addition, he knows it was Max that dropped Rita off at the tiradero and here he is living in Tifon/Carminha's house.
Jean or Romy could perhaps shed more light.
I asked last week about the Jorgito/Nina love song. I did locate the title, lyrics and music. It's Depois, sung by Marisa Monte, available on iTunes.
Hola fellow Avenida fans,
I am also seeing this for the first time and loving everything about it, especially Jorgito. Of course there are some silly story lines(Carlitos and Leleco with that young girl), but the acting is so good that it's easy to put up with. On the question of Jorgito and Carmina. I assume Carmina is his biological mother, but does Tifon know that or does he just think that Carmina wanted to do a good deed and adopt a child from the tiradero? Also, who is Agatha's biological father? Max, Tifon, or Geniicio?
Just another comment, the women in this novela seem to be so much more natural looking. I don't see tons and make-up and giant boob implants. (very refreshing)
Miranda
Where is everyone? Things got pretty good last night
with Vero finding out that Miranda isn't her mother and
Sophia almost leaving to go and live with Art. I was expecting a lot of comments today. Things were pretty slow there for a while. In fact I switched over to Lo
Imperdonable and really like it. There sure is considerably more interest in that one as well as an
excellent, detailed recap by novelamaven who just keeps
getting better. I feel like a traitor. anongringa
I agree, Miranda... The AB women are much more natural than you usually see on TV. Beautiful in very healthy-looking ways. Nina's little gamine look is adorable.
Re Jorgito... I felt so bad for him when Nina announced the banquet instead of that she was quitting to be with him. She's so obsessed with her plan for revenge, it's ruining her chance at happiness. I thought the actress playing Debora did the break-up scenes brilliantly.
The scenes in the Tifon household are great...kicking back and hugging each other on the couch, etc. The meals look amazing..everyone seems to drink refreshing and beautiful fruit juices all the time, makes me hungry!
I'm pretty sure Agatha is Nina's half-sister, ie Genesio is her dad, but with Carminha, who knows, right? She can't seem to stand the girl, but fawns all over Jorgito, who clearly loathes her.
~ Wee Rita
I know where are all the comments and opinions. The story is getting really good. Finally Andrea and Samuel got together and ugh how stupid of Pablo to not leave the Del Junco Ranch and go work with the Gallardo Bros. Why put up with it Pablo. So happy that Andrea is not on mommy's side anymore and is actually seeing Leonardo for who he is.
I'm pretty sure I remember correctly that Carminha got pregnant with Agata with Genesio and pinned it on Tifon--to insure he would stay with her.
I do remember the birthing scene where she was pushing, pushing out what she thought was going to be a BOY and when they said it was a girl, she rejected the baby from the very beginning.
Ana G
Thank you for chiming in and letting me know that I'm not the only one paying attention. I agree with you about
Pablo and Andrea. As I've said, I wish they'd all leave
Caye. She's really cheating herself out of a wonderful
life with a loving family by being such a manipulative
bruja. Anongringa
Anita, wow, I had no idea about Jorgito's parentage. Glad I asked! and glad you answered with this important info. And thanks for the love song details.
Miranda, as for Agatha's bio-dad, as I remember, it is Genesio. I could be wrong but I don't think Carminha tried to pin the pregnancy on Tifón, as Anita commented. I think Tifón believed it was Genesio's baby and was happy to assume responsibility because of his guilt about the accident. Or wait, could Agatha be Max's daughter that Carminha sold as Genesio's to Tifón? In any event, I don't believe she is Tifón's bio daughter, and I don't think Tifón thinks she is.
Okay AB is out, Tierra is rising up, where are those Cielos people?
Clara
Clara--I think you are on to it about Agata being Max's. It sounds much more plausible and it hits a small memory button in my head. That would make Jorgito and Agata full siblings.
Wait until Veronica finds out (if she ever does) that she's been pushing Debora toward a "better marriage" with half-sibling Tomas. She's the only one in the story who doesn't like Jorgito or his family. They are socially beneath them and nouveau riche to boot!
I'm interested, just haven't had a chance to watch in the last week or so! Thanks everyone for the comments and summaries last week. Totally agree with you all that Pablo should run away from the del Junco hellhole and never look back, as should Sofia.
Will catch up one of these days and probably have a fresh offering of colorful curses on Leo and Caye and Valverde. I'm looking forward to Vero finding out that Soledad is her mother, also.
Hey AB folks! Just dropping in to see if you guys are liking it. I watched the first time around, so not watching or following this time. Glad to see there's a new group who didn't see it the first time, enjoying it this time.
I caught a few bits of some of this week's episodes. Saw Andrea rescue Sam from where he was being held hostage. I was also surprised they didn't unmask the guy he knocked out, but he seemed pretty nonchalant about the whole thing. As soon as they got outside, Sam wanted kissies, and Andrea had to be all "this place could be dangerous! Let's get out of here ASAP!" But then they did get to the smoochies when they got back to his house. Are we finally done with them pretending to hate each other?
Also saw Irina play along with Flavio's seduction at the spa and tease him into doing a striptease for her. I suppose that was supposed to be hot, but I wanted that lounge chair she was sitting on more than I was interested in him. But it was funny when she got him to wait in the bathroom naked while she "prepared a surprise" and then stole all his clothes and left. He never learns! How many times has she done this? And I loved Dario's reaction when he found Flavio. That was entertaining. Although the ridiculous clothes Dario scrounged up weren't terribly credible. It's a fancy spa. Surely they have robes and slippers.
Also saw the big long dramatic goodbye scene when Sofia almost took the baby and moved all the way to the ranch next door. A bit much. She should have just moved out while mama wasn't there. Although I did like that Sofia pointed out to Cayetana that she is a part owner of the ranch and has every right to be there and not just on Cayetana's terms, and to have a say in how things are run. Now that Andrea is getting an idea of how horrid her mother is, especially with now not believing Leo's lies and yet seeing her mother defend him, I wish the girls would do some sort of hostile takeover of Cayetana's shares and force HER out and boot Leo as well. I hate that she's manipulated Sofia yet again.
I was confused when Veronica was depressed and not eating and such after finding out she wasn't Miranda's biodaughter. Shouldn't she have been celebrating? I'm glad she moved out.
I'm here now and yeah lots of excitement and plot holes - I mean if I was kidnapped and knocked out the kidnappers I would totally take their masks off to see who kidnapped me, I might even ask why they did it.
-
AnonGringa - you're not a traitor, we're not really up to snuff on the recaps here compared to other shows, but I'm trying to get a recap up of the eps I saw soon
Maybe the Del J ranch is some sort of psychic quicksand and people can't leave - that's the only thing I can think of that makes any of this make sense.
Actually, I feel really bad for the del Junco girls and Pablo. I think they have been subjected to such long, slow conditioning to abuse that they no longer have any idea what functional, healthy relationships are like, and don't have the perspective to see just how toxic Cayetana is even though they dislike a lot of the things she does. She employs classic abuser tactics: blames them, erodes their self-esteem, tries to isolate them from support systems, occasionally does something kind and loving or says the right thing to draw them back in and make them think she isn't really so bad and maybe now things are going to be better.
That sort of conditioning behavior does tend to wear down the victims and seem normal to them. They won't react the same way as someone who is used to happy healthy relationships who is suddenly subjected to a partner or authority figure who hits them and tries to control them.
And then the girls start to repeat the things they've learned from their mother, teasing and tormenting and criticizing the guys they love and making them jump through all sorts of hoops. They aren't as awful as Cayetana, but they haven't learned how to have healthy relationships, either.
Tuesday & Wednesday part 1
Sam has been kidnapped and has a sack over his head - the henchies -wearing ski masks- beat him up
but
Andrea to the rescue w/her pistol- bad guys vanquished! and one of them bag enhanced!
Instead of getting the h3!! out of there Sam wants to talk about why she rescued him. She is all we can talk about this later now we scram and anyway I'd have done the same for anyone.
Sam thanks her for doing it for him even though he was so rude to her & they kiss. (awwww)
Irina plays w/her cavernicula at the spa and leaves him w/o his clothes - again ( I know right, Julia he should have learned by now but maybe he likes being left nekkid. Irina should know by now that he has no shame.)
Sophia and Art pillow talk about how she dreads the coming confrontation w/her mom. Art tells her she doesn't have to do it alone- he'll go with, but she thinks he will just make things worse, but tells him probably after the big fight she'll be calling him to pick her & the baby up.
Matamoros and his guy come in to the cabin where the henchies were supposed to be holding Sam and finding a guy on the floor w/a bag over his head, assume its Sam and start beating him till the 2nd finds the other henchie tied up on the floor and stops his boss from killing bagged guy. Lots of calling people imbecils ensues.
Andrea wants to know why Sam kissed her - was it a thank you? He says no I just really wanted to kiss you and you can totally hit me if you want- it was worth it. She thinks he's been hit enought for one night, and he's all yeah hit enough but not kissed enough - more kisses - she goes to leave then runs back and more kisses till she finally leaves for realz, leaving Sam to muse alone about how he feels.
Big fight
Sophia tells her mom she's back w/Art. Caye reacts about how you'd expect, except with less hitting, tells her 'your father would be rolling over in his grave', Sophie comes back with 'yeah he would but it'd be because you've still got Leo living in this house and he hated Leo'. Caye is all 'don't change the subject'
Dario is wrapping up the party, saying goodbye to the last guests & Flavio is nekkid in his office! Dario is all wow! Flavio is embarrased but not that embarrased because he has no shame, mostly just kind of; not the person I was expecting, what are you doing here. Explanations made on both sides.
Dario will find him some clothes - and he does but all he can find is an improbable fancy dress and Dario being Dario he also brings the matching shoes ('cause wearing that dress in bear feet would just look silly)
Flavio tells him no self respecting caveman would be caught dead in that outfit. Dario tries to reassure him that nobody'll see him - no dice.
So, Dario puts on the dress (and high heeled shoes) and Flavio wears Dario's clothes and they head out.
Sam reports the kidnapping to Nestor and then takes a couple of cowboys w/him on a "special visit" to El P to confront Matamoros and accuse him of the kidnapping. Matamoros pulls a gun and is going to kill him right ther in front of God and Pati and everybody but instead they engage in fisticuffs till pulled apart and Sam leaves saying you know what you did and you'll pay for it!
Irina, still carrying Flavio's clothes, interrupts Andrea's day dreaming about Sam, sneaking in through her room so mom won't find out she went to the spa party. Sophia tambien seeks sanctuary there and tells them about Art's fight w/Leo and her own ensuing fight w/mom when she revealed they're back together.
Part 2
Art comes to Rancho Del Junco to pick up Sophia and little Artie Iggy (even though I didn't see Sophia call him and ask him to come. Did she?)
Caye is livid and tries to convince/browbeat Sophia not to leave but with Irina, DF, and even almost Andrea on her side, Sophia stands firm. She and the baby are going w/Art.
In a last ditch effort to keep her daughter and nieto Caye says I'll let ya'll get married if Sophia keeps living here till the wedding. Art agrees even though he's pretty sure its a trap, and when he tells Sole about it later she agrees that its probably a trap but she hopes Caye is changing for the better.
Vero's mom is discussing w/her housekeeper/confidant how she hates Sole and will make her pay ect. Vero walks in just as she's saying 'Vero's not my daughter' and is all what did you just say?
Mom tries to convince her she heard wrong and even the housekeeper tries to cover, but it doesn't work.
Vero is all now I finally understand everything; why I was never good enough, why you tried to make me despise ordinary people: to erase what I was, why you worked so hard to make me like you but I was never good enough, why you were always ashamed of me. Now I get it.
Her mom tries to explain and tells her she does think of her like a daughter. Vero just wants to know who her parents are and mom lies and says she doesn't know, that they adopted her from an orphanage. Vero won't let her even touch her and runs out crying.
In the kitchen Pablo tries to excuse his not sleeping w/Rocio by saying he doesn't want to endanger her high risk pregnancy but he made an appointment to see a doctor w/her. Rocio has a cara de the jig is up till Nieves comes running in and says you'll never guess what happening w/ the bosses.
Sam comes home all beat up and Art wants to know who done it Sam tries to say its nothing but Sole disagrees and goes for the 1st aid kit. The bros go looking for Flavio just as he is sneaking in the back way w/Dario still in that dress and Art and Sam walk in just as Flavio is trying to help Dario get the dress off. Awkwardness ensues and the boys take the opportunity to rib their bro saying they make a cute couple.
The girls are talking and they too think it weird that Caye would compromise and let Sophia marry Art. Irina says maybe its an exchange for her divorce that her mom still thinks she's going to get, and then tells them about her pranking Flavio. Andrea is suspiciously critical of her treatment of her husband.
Sam calls Andrea to thank her for her rescue and her healing kisses and tells her to look out for his gift.
Vero's mom is distraught Vero has locked herself in her room and won't eat. Just then Vero comes out and tells her she's leaving forever w/o her $$ or any of her stuff and dressed in Alma's dress that Flavio loaned her.
Leo blackmails Caye emotionally and by threatening to leave her over the compromise w/Sophia. Caye says yeah its a trap so I can get more time to split them up because I'm not losing my daughter or my grandson.
Andrea gets pretty pink roses and Caye wants to know who they're from. DF tries to stop her from prying, but no dice. Luckily Sam didn't sign the card.
Flavio comes to R DJ to see his wife and Leo stops him. Punches are exchanged till Leo pulls a gun. The girls run out and scream cause thats always helpful and the gun goes off - nobody's hurt but Flavio just has to make things betwen himself and Irina worse by forcing her to confess in front of everone how she left him at the spa and how she got him that way and then as if that weren't enough threatens her that she won't get rid of him easily.
Part 3
Nestor tells Sam there was nobody @ the cabin when they went to pick up the kidnappers and asks who has it out for you. Matamoros of course
Pablo wants to go to the doc, Rocio wants to get married before he finds out she's not pregnant anymore, even though she knows he doesn't love her. Pablo says we don't choose who we fall in love with, but we do decide who we commit to.
Vero wanders through a park remembering every convo w/her mom and her dad's last words about her mother who suffered unjustly.
Valverde receives a call about the female patient - she's in bad shape and asking for her daughter, which the daughter overhears - his side at least - and asks him about. When he doesn't answer her she plots to find out what's up
Art chews Flavio out for his childish and troublemaking ways and then gets a call from a henchie on behalf of Valverde making an appointment to talk about buying back Rancho Gallardo (Its a trap!)
Pati & Matamoros fight - same old same old- Pati figures out he was behind Sam's kidnapping and just as he admits it Nestor walks in and arrests him!]
Caye has called the family atty over to work on Irina's divorce. They have a paper for Irina to sign that will give the atty the right to negotiate for her. He tells her he'll have her divorced in three months. Well that doesn't suit and she won't sign
Meanwhile Flavio is busy digging himself in deeper making calls to try to get Irina's undie ad off the air, when Vero stumbles in calling his name.
Art waiting for his meeting w/Valverde recognizes a letter opener in his office as belonging to his dad and asks Valverde why *he* has it. Valverde says he bought it @ the border and Art gives it back though he thought his dad's was one of a kind.
Valverde says his daughter is willing to sell the ranch back to them and she walks in so he can thank her in person. (doom doom doom)
Art protests that he came to do business with the father not the daughter but ooopsie Valverde has another meeting and walks out leving Art & Isadora alone together - it only takes her seconds to put her hands all over him and when he tries to extricate himself saying he's not going to do business w/a crazy person she only gets closer. In a split second it goes from Art saying let go of me Isadora and when he grabs her shoulders to push her away she sees Sophia in the open doorway looking in and says Let go of me Arturo! (totally a trap)
Sam is out in the fields talking w/Juana's son about some kind of work problems when Andrea rides up smiling. He tells her she's pretty, she's nice to him too, sweet nothings and surreptitious kisses are exchanged.
Vero gives Flavio and Sole a perfect opportunity to tell her of their relation to her as she tells them what she has just learned of her origins.
will they or won't they? will Sophia see through Isadora's ploy ? will Matamoros really go to jail? tune in next time to find out
Julia - I agree w/you about the girls but Pablo? He's only been working there a few years and for all that they *say* they love 'im like a bro he's not related to any of them. He had a family (in Mexico I think, he's supposed to be supporting them) and should know what healthy love looks like, unless his family is as messed up as the Del J's and that would be almost impossible:)
Sneaky TS, all I meant by feeling like a traitor was for
watching the other program.
Thank you to both you and Julia for the recaps and
comments. I enjoyed reading all of them.
I'm so tired of Leo always having the upper hand. It sems to me that any of the guys could beat him in a
FAIR fight. Again, MANY thanks. AnonGringa
Anita-thanks for the info on the Jorgito/Nina love song, listening to it now on youtube!
Wee Rita-agree on Nina's gamine look. I like how they cast someone who is petite & innocent looking, but can be so intense. Also like the Tifon family households scenes. I don't know how fun it would be to be in the middle of all that noise and drama, but it sure is entertaining to watch!
Although it is silly, I laugh whenever Muricy & Leleco get into one of their fights with Tifon & Ivana in the background trying to control their parents.
jlk
Tifon is a very likeable character. Have to keep reminding myself that he killed poor Genesio in a hit and run! Wonder what Nina will do to him if she finds that out! Does Carminha know for sure that he was the driver? I know she suspected he felt guilty, but can't remember if he ever openly admitted it to her.
~ Wee Rita
Wee Rita- I think that Tifon did call the ambulance when the accident occurred. And I'm pretty sure that Carmina knows what happened. That's how she was able to guilt him to stay with her.
Funny enough the first time I wasn't really able to watch the first few episodes, and the same thing happened this time too. So I not quite sure, but I think that's what happened.
jlk
Has Pablo really only been there for a few years? I missed the beginning of the series, but from the way Pablo seems to see that as his only home which he could never leave and not just a job, and the girls claim he's like a brother, I assumed he had been there for a long time and maybe didn't have much of a family. Well, maybe his own family is also terrible, as you suggest. He doesn't have much self-esteem, and he could certainly flatten Leo without straining himself if he decided to fight back.
And if Pablo only arrived fairly recently and he and the girls didn't grow up together, how exactly did one or three of them not throw themselves at him immediately? Are they blind?
I think Flavio does enjoy parading around in the nude. I think he was flattered by Dario's blatant ogling. And yet he has a cow about Irina modeling fairly modest lingerie.
Thanks for your recaps, Sneaky Two Shoes.
The baby hates the hat! In last night's episode, Sofía handed Arturo the baby and every time the baby looked at Arturo, his face crumpled up and he started to cry. I'm sure it was Arturo's horrible hat. It was so funny,
Tifon didn't do the "run" part of hit and run, but he stayed at the site of the accident with Genesio, but did not own up to the fact he did it to any officials.
Genesio gave him his wife's name. Tifon went to the funeral and that's when he approached Carminha. It was several episodes before he admitted being the one that hit him.
Everything else followed correctly. She used her wiles by continuing to reject his offers, which made him try even harder.
The "culmination" came when she went to Tifon's beach house, courtesy of Muricy and sent Tifon after her. Ah, Muricy, you are reaping what you sowed.
Ok--I'll be incommunicado for the next 10 days or so. Just wanted you to know that I'm not abandoning AB. Not after last night! Will they or won't they get married now? TN law says they won't, so how are they going to be kept apart, but still come together at the end. Or is this some sort of deviation from the norm. I would love to believe that! AB is full of surprises.
a tiny correction, Anita. After the accident, Tifon stayed with Genesio, called the ambulance, heard his last words but left when the ambulance showed up.
And just a clarification of some previous questions. Agatha is Max's child. When Carmina told Max she was pregnant, he asked if the baby was Genesio's and Carmina said no. Rita thinks Agatha is Genesio's, though.
Nina's plan is for Carminha and Max and one else so relax. You will have a bumpy ride but very enjoyable. My only complaint is Nina never using her a cell phone to record Carminha and Max. Why? That part was silly in today's world. She never thought of recording anything just eavesdropping which is so 1990s, lol.
Romy
Jean, Romy, thanks for the parentage clarifications. I've updated my chart! Max seems to show no interest in Jorgito or Agatha.
Yes, jlk, Wee Rita, the boisterous mansion household is a lot of fun. And Tifón has a warm generous spirit.
So, Carlitos's world has started to crumble. That surprised me, I thought they'd string out the comic relief [like Carlos in the hip hop club disguise]. Good casting Carlos and Tomás, they really look like father and son.
Clara
I am L O V I N G this telenovela. I feel sorry for anyone who's not watching it!
I love Jorgito and I'm going to be so peeshed at Nina when she breaks his heart, as I'm sure she's about to :(
Carlitos in the nightclub was funny. Loved it when Tomas showed up at Debora's family's breakfast table. Did anyone else notice Carlitos hands shaking?
The way Carminha treats Agatha makes me want to throttle her.
~ Wee Rita
Variopinta
I'm still watching out of habit, really, not much enthusiasm. I don't like any of the characters. For
me, there's too much loveless sex, violence, etc.
The murder of Ernesto was awful. I don't even know
why he was brought back into the story, but then I don't speak Spanish and may have missed something.
Anon 11:38
I'm watching for the same reason you are, yawn. Yawn, is what I'm doing, I'm tired & the same ole, same ole doesn't do much to help keep me awake. Tijeras is the only one enjoying himself, (for now)
I see some of season 2 characters & just can't remember why they are where they are like Ignacio. I was upset about Ernesto also, why?
re Pablo - I don't actually know how long he's been working for the Del Js, but somebody trying to explain him to Vero way way back said he had a mother and siblings in - I think it was Mexico- and he sent all his money to them so he really needed the job and she shouldn't try to get him fired. So I'm assuming he must have been at least mid to late teens when he came to work at the ranch. As for why the girls didn't go for him - they have terrible taste?
The Hat
I know I said I didn't mind the hat and stuff and blah blah blah but its starting to bug me now. Not so much the hat itself but the fact that he never takes it off - not to kiss Sophia, not when he comes in the house (which I was taught was just good manners) He never takes the blasted thing off! I wish somebody, maybe DF, would knock it off his head - if its not welded on
The baby has good sense and manners and is trying to teach his daddy:)
I'm rooting for Nina, but I don't blame Muricy or ZeZe for thinking Nina used some kind of witchery to become indispensable to the whole family. It's kinda funny to watch them act like they can't even boil water without her.
I felt soooo bad for Jorgito yesterday! He looked so excited and happy to go on that trip, and then Nina totally crushed him.
Thomas also had his day ruined by finding out his father has another family.
With Tifon getting robbed (arranged by Max) & Nina leaving the household, it was a tough day all around.
jlk
I caught a cold so I'm exercising my recappers privilege to skip boring or annoying stuff a lot.
Art & Isadora both tell their sides of the story to Sophia who has walked in on their scuffle (I don't feel like translating this - its boring - and you can pretty much guess what each one said)
Luckily Sophia believes Art and slaps Isadora who looks scarily lost. Later her cuz tries to talk sense to her but hits the brick wall of 'if I can't have him nobody can'
Irina tries to come up w/reasons not to sign the power of atty that won't make her mom mad. She sort of succeeds
Sole makes Vero some comforting tea. Vero asks her not to call her senorita anymore because now she's nobody and has nothing and is poor. Instead of flipping *telling* her the truth - that she's their daughter/sister, they give her tea and sympathy and tell her she's important to them and basically pat her on the head like a little kid.
Sole runs off by herself to say to an empty room the things she should be saying to her daughter.
Its decided that Vero will stay w/the bros even though she doesn't know they're her bros cause the idiots won't tell her (Even Flavio and he's usually such a big mouth)
Matamoros denies denies denies that he had anything to do w/any kidnapping but gets locked up anyway (yay)
Pati goes to jail to tell Matamoros she's divorcing him - he reacts accordingly
Andrea & Leo fight over who gets to order the workers around. Verbally at first and then physically - but when Leo pushes Andrea down Sam runs over and punches him. There's a fistfight that doesn't go on for long enough for Leo to get what's coming to him before the cowboys pull em apart. Leo swears to find out what turned Andrea against him.
Andrea & Leo go to Caye to resolve the whole who's the boss issue - Sophia comes in and joins the conflict. When Andrea tells her mom Leo pushed her and Caye doesn't react - just stands there w/her mouth open, Andrea gives up on her mother and says 'I understand now that I don't matter to you' and walks out.
Sophia tells her mom I don't know when we stopped being your daughters and you adopted this poca cosa =pathetic thing
Caye saves all her sympathy for Vero's mom who comes over to cry on her shoulder about Vero finding out and moving out
Leo chews Caye(his boss) out for letting Art come to dinner. As they argue Art arrives and from the look on his face he guesses the topic of discussion is how much they hate him. Caye prevents a fight breaking out and Sophia tells Leo 'this is a *family* dinner, you aren't family, you aren't welcome here. He leaves, but not before jibing @ Caye about the Del Juncos and los Gallardos being family now ho ho.
Irina is setting the table w/Nieves and Nieves says hey I bet since your mom is accepting Art she'll accept Flavio someday too. Irina says fat chance and anyway I'm divorcing Flavio. Nieves tells her hey if you really wanted to get divorced you'd have signed that paper, but Irina doesn't want to hear it from a servant. Vero calls to give her a heads up about moving in w/ the boys - specifically Flavio and they make an appt to talk about it @ the spa tomorrow and then Irina actually taunts Pablo - who was standing nearby- about his gf moving in w/Flavio (b(*$ch)
5/21 part 2
Valverde goes to the funny farm to see Isadora's mom. He tells the guy that he doesn't want to kill her, just make her suffer for what she did to him. He tells her this is goodbye for good, and she will never see her daughter. Later he gets a call from Matamoros' 2nd about Matamoros getting arrested and sends a lawyer over to get him out.
Isadora rants to one henchie about how Art & Sophia *can't* get married and the other henchie walks in w/the address he followed Valverde to. She wonders why he was there and the henchie says visiting some woman I'll send her pic to yr cell.
She meets Leo @ El P and they plot and plan and fume (you know the drill)
The awkward family dinner commences -
Caye is lamenting all things Art @ Sophia when the topics of her discussion walk in (great start)
DF proposes a toast to the wedding which brings up when the wedding will be. Sophia & Art want it in 1 mo. Caye says we couldn't give you the wedding you deserve so soon make it 2 mo.s (all the better to break you up in my dears) general discussion ensues
Vero & Sole (I hate this so much)
Sole brings Vero a nightgown, because she left everything behind and doesn't have one. Vero says hey I can't take your nightgown! and Sole tells her families share stuff and anyway this one's a little too sexxy for me, you keep it, and then Vero starts telling Sole how she feels so alone and lost and abandoned and how sad it is that she has to live knowing her bio-mom didn't want her and that Sole has to live w/o the daughter she loves and misses and SOLE SAYS NOTHING!!! Not a word. Not even with this incredible opening. She just sits there like a sad eyed lump
When Vero says what kind of mother gives her kid away, instead of explaining how she didn't have a choice Sole says lets not judge her too harshly. Instead of just getting it out in the open and telling the frelling truth Sole hems and haws and leaves a big giant huge opening for Miranda to tell Vero first and make Sole look as bad as possible. Instead of soothing her *daughter*'s pain with the knowledge that her mother loves her and always wanted her and she has a family for realz, Soledad is silent, and when Vero says that she's sure that her mother can't have really loved her I think she's right, because said mother is sitting right there watching her daughter suffer and doesn't do anything about it because she's too much of a coward -( whew ok this turned into a rant, sorry, back to recap mode)
5/22
Isadora goes to visit her mom (albeit unknowingly)
She pretends to be the state inspector and the white coat guy tells her the story -been there for 20 some yrs , went crazy when her daughter died at birth, Valverde isn't a relative, this is a charity case for him - good works. White coat guy gets a call and leaves her alone w/the patient - Julia Ortiz (we'll see if I remember it) Isadora, sceptical about her father ever doing good works, asks the patient who she is and why she's there and why does Valverde care about her. Julia (the patient not the recapper/commenter) only goes on and on about her daughter getting more and more agitated and the docs come and shoo Isadora out. (does she feel the llamada de sangre?).
In jail the other prisoners beat up Matamoros
After they beat him unconscious they call the guards and say he tried to stab them w/a shiv.
The guards check Matamoros for a pulse (we're not that lucky don't get your hopes up)
Sole tries to make Vero better by making her chicken soup instead of telling her the truth.
Pablo comes over to check on her and desperate hugs ensue
Pablo is comforting and says all the right things, but when he goes to hug her again she warns him off and sends him home to Rocio - she doesn't want a relationship based on lies. Just then Nestor arrives and she lies about having a date w/him
5/22 part whatever
Sam & Andrea meet @ a bar (not El P I don't think, 'cause how stupid would that be - everyone they know goes there)
Pati sees them kissing.
Sam gets a business call from an important investor and leaves Andrea alone to be insulted by Pati. Same comes back and breaks things up but Pati accuses Andrea of only being w/Sam now because he has $$ now. Sam says yeah and you dumped me when I was poor for Matamoros 'cause he had $$ too so you're nobody to talk
Because of what Pati said Andrea remembers all the mean stuff she used to do to Sam that made him call her a bruja =witch. She feels guilty for how she treated him in the past so even though Sam is cool with it and has totes forgiven and forgotten she's breaking up w/him(is that the right term? were they ever really going together?)
Sam tries to talk her out of it and ends up trying to explain his feelings for and relationships w/Pati, Beatrice, and now Andrea - he doesn't know exactly how he feels for Andrea, but its something warm and beautiful.
Andrea knows how she feels about him and how she's felt about him since she first asw him and she's not w/him cause he's got position and $ now. She's loved him all along. Cards are put on the table and behavior is explained and kisses exchanged and they're starting over from 0 - or not quite
To take her mind off Sophie and Art kissing, Caye starts asking where Andrea is
Caye keeps trying to push the wedding back - now she says they'd need 3 mos to do it up right. Nobody cares about that but her of course. She tries to pressure Art to go for the 3 mos and he tries to be polite but firm all the while with that something stinks look on his face and Caye ends up picking a fight w/him about Alma. The upshot is Sophie and Art end up deciding to get married in 1 week and they're not going to fight about it any more.
Caye walks off in a huff.
Caye wants to control her daughters como siempre but the girls are growing backbones
Art tells Nestor about finding his dad's letter opener in Valverde's office. Nestor will investigate
Pati fulminates - Cande tries to tell her she has to forget Sam, but she just can't (whatever) The 2nd comes in to tell her that Matamoros is in the hospital and she runs off to see him
The boys head out to prepare a surprise for Sophia leaving Vero & Sole home to talk (but not about what they need to talk about. grr. )
Rocio pumps Pablo for where he went last night that left him so weird and quiet but he won't tell her, just says he'll talk to Andrea to arrange their wedding. Nieves comes in and they talk about it and then Nieves tells her Vero's staying @ Rancho Alcazar right next door. Rocio is upset and worried and apparently now she's totally on board the trick Pablo to marry her w/a fake baby -getting pregnant asap- train. Nieves not so much
M tells Dario the big Vero news and begs him to help her get her daughter back - he'll try but no guarantee
The girls are chatting and trying to get out of Andrea who her date anoche was w/o luck whe a serenade happens outside the window.
The only person who hates music and serenades more than Cayetana (remember when Cande tried to serenade DF?) is Leo who is going to kick them all off the ranch (probably with actual kicks) but Caye stops him - she can't show her hand yet.
will the serenaders make it home alive? does Pati still love Matamoros? will Soledad ever tell the truth? tune in next week for more melodrama
Ok I know I already ranted in the recap but Soledad! arggh
I used to be on her team!
I defended her!
Well that's all over now
She has lost my sympathy and if Vero is mad when she finds out the truth - probably not from Sole- and doesn't want to forgive her I don't care I think she deserves it after all this
Nina hurting Jorgito is infuriating. If she can't take such happiness when it is handed to her on a plate, then her obsession for revenge is the largest thing in her life and that is sad. Jorgito is a sweetheart, as he was a child.
Debora's post break-up scenes were very believable.
As for Muricy thinking that Nina put a spell on them all, it is amazing what good food can do! You know that expression, 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach?' Well, I'd say it applies to everyone, not just men.

Sneaky TS
I'm always so excited to find your great recaps. I really love a lot of the characters in this novela. Yes, the plot is silly, but all of them are. I got introduced to novelas several years ago by a friend from Mexico and have been hooked ever since. My first was Ramona which may be the best one yet.
I also find it very frustrating that Sole and the brothers
are still keeping Vero in the dark. Maybe they think it's
too soon for another shock.
Thank you again. Have a wonderful Memorial Day
holiday. AnonGringa
The fact that Soledad and the brothers are still keeping Vero in the dark is very aggravating to me
too. I guess they have to keep the story going.
Thank you for the recap and have a wonderful Memorial Day holiday.
AnonGringa
As long as I don't write more than what fits into the box to begin with I'm fine. I'm sorry that I don't know how to erase the repetitive part at the bottom. AnonGringa
Sneaky, thanks for the thorough recap. I share your frustration with Soledad! She is such a wimp! Didn't she and the boys learn ANYTHING about things being worse the longer you keep a secret from the whole situation with their identities? Tell Vero sooner and have some control over the way she finds out instead of waiting for her to learn the truth at the worst possible time and in the way that makes you look as bad as possible! Sheesh.
Heck, they could even pretend they didn't already know! "It's so weird, Vero. I had a baby with the Gallardos' dad, the baby was taken away, she would have been your age, and you look just like their sister. Wouldn't it be wild if you were our relative? Let's go get tested!" Of course, Miranda and Cayetana and others know very well that Soledad at least already knows the truth, but they could at least give Vero the big news in a gentler fashion that way, and let her get mad at Soledad later.
What's with this the wedding is in one week business? Don't Sofia and Arturo know not to tell the devils what they're thinking? I hope that's misdirection on their part and they are actually going to head right down to city hall or a priest and get married the next day instead of in a week, so Caye and Leo and Isadora don't have a chance to enact a dastardly plan. It would be nice if the goodish people outsmarted the baddies for once.
Glad Sam and Andrea are finally done bullying each other.
Rocio needs to get a life. Are they not allowed to leave the ranch without permission? What country/century is this? She needs to make more friends and meet more men. I think it's super pathetic how she clings to Pablo and is desperate to marry him even though he doesn't want her, but the only other young man she seems to have any contact with (aside from the taken and shunned Gallardos) is Leo. She must think Pablo is her only chance of having a family. Maybe she should wander over to the other ranch and meet Juana's son, or...something.
