Amores con trampa #53 and #54 6/10/15 and 6/11/25

This is being written before the episode even airs, so who knows what tonight will bring us. Hopefully Jarifa will have a super fun episode to recap and not a miserable episode! Look for her wonderful recap in the comments.

Wow! What an episode! Recap will be up as usual later tonight to early a.m.

Jarifa

Can't wait Jarifa! I didn't pay close attention tonight so I had comprehension issues. I look forward to reading the recap then rewatching.

Capítulo #53 6/10/15 Casi con las manos en la masa (Almost with their Hands in the Masa)

Thanks, Sara, you always make thjis so easy and pleasant.

Part 1

So nice out here on the patio this p.m. Anyway, the story continues and opens with a scene with Granpappy Porfirio with Jacinto. Granpappy is trying to entertain him with "corridos" (traditional songs/poems that tell of famous or historic events) of the Mexican Revolution but Jacinto's mind is somewhere else. It is not that he finds the "corridos" boring he as not as good with "corridos" as he is with math, physics, etc. and is worried about what he is missing simce he is suspended. Now his dad is on a trip and won't be able to go to school to take care of the matter.

At that very moment Facundo is driving with Isabel to their rendezvous at the spa. He is on the phone explaining to the school that he is busy with work and they are telling him that they need both parents at the school ASAP for a meeting about the suspension. He tells Isabel he has to go. Isabel offers to to talk to the principal who is a friend. Facundo says no he has to go with María. Isabel convinces him it is no big thing. He can take care of it tomorrow and he gives in. Suddenly the theme song is on the radio and Isabel starts singing with it. Facundo changes the station and starts singing along with a song about "un ranchero en la ciudad" (a rancher in the city). They go back and forth until they are both singing the ranchero song.

At home María is all upset crying to Granny Perpétua about being worried about what is going on with Facundo when they hear pounding on the front door. It is Santiago. Granny does not want to let him in but María does. Santiago tells her that Isabel and Facundo are off to spend a romantic night together at a hotel. He wants her to go with him to help him find them before they lose them forever.

Santiago is frustrated because there is no answer coming from María and Granny (they are shocked). He says he knows Isabel's favorite spa and wants to get there before something happens. María amd Santiago are off. Santiago says they need to find them before those traitors have "la masa en las manos" (the dough on their hands). María corrects him: "las manos en la masa" (their hands in the dough.)
Granpappy hears them refer to "traitors". He tells Jacinto that the traitors must be his father and Santiago's wife and if that is the case, Facundo is going ot have to do some explaining to him as soon as he comes home.

Part 2

Back at the shop, Rocío is having a hard time believing what Beto is telling her and why did he not tell her before. He says he would also have a problem believing it, too but he saw it with his own two eyes and that he wanted to talk to her aunt first. He the. Tells her that Isabel had warned him about not telling Rocío and that the whole thing had something to do with a secret. Rocío wonders what her aunt is hiding from her. Beto thinks it cannot be anything good.

Facundo and Isabel arrive at the spa in Tepoztlán Morelos. They stand and marvel at the beautiful scenery. Facundo has to compare it all to Bartolo el Chico which of course wins all the time. Isabel is chomping on an apple and there is a big snake (boa? python?) in a tree. The spa seems to be a grand mixture of New Age spirituality. A gentleman greets them with a "namaste" and another turbaned gentleman invites them to a lecture that evening on angels and the full moon. A girl is meditating while another is getting a massage. Love birds are all over. On their way to get their robes in preparation for their massages, Isabel points out El Tepozteco a famous mountain to climb filled with energy. Isabel wants them to make a wish. Just as she grabs his hand to make the wish the cavalry has arrived and we hear María yelling "Facundo". He snaps to attention.

María wants to know if this is his business trip amd Santiago tells Isabel that her craziness ends here. Isabel cannot believe Santiago could not trust her. He just wants to get them out of there but Isabel tells Facundo to explain to them all why he kissed her the other day and that if Facindo María's husband is here with her it is because he prefers her to María. Facundo says it was just a kiss; no big deal. Marîa asks if it was no big deal, then why is he with Isabel there today. He says Isabel was blackmailing him. Nobody is happy. Facundo says that he is prohibiting Isabel from "acostando" him "bedding him" everyday when he wanted to say "acosando" him "harassing him" everyday. Facundo and María leave. Santiago tries to cheer up his Puchis.

Ale is visiting Susana ans they are dancing and singing to the video song in Susana's room. They were supposed to play soccer but Ale has nothing but dresses like the one she is wearing. Susana has an idea.

Part 3

Jacinto tells Granny that some friends are coming over and asks her to make sandwiches. The twins that were bullying him are coming since they apologized and they all made peace. The twins are two little red headed boys. Jacinto calls one the "original" amd the other the "copy". They seem to have a trick up their sleeve. Susana gave Alejandra a pair of pants and a shirt of hers to wear. Susana wants all the kids to play soccer with the animals as lomg as they are not mistreated. Granpappy is the referee for the soccer game complete with a whistle. The game begins. There a a lot of kids.

María and Facundo have gone straight to Jacinto's school where they are told that Jacinto's wetting problem is due to personal problems they must be having in their household. Facindo promoses that they will pay more attention to Jacinto. The guidance counselor thinks that that will solve the pronlem. Now that the principal had the opportunity to talk to both parents together, Santiago can come back to school.

The soccer game is going really well until one of thenasth twins gets an opportunity for a free kick and chooses to aim the ball at Margarito and not at the goal. But before the ball can hit out little porcine pal, Susana makes a diving save and Margarito is safe. Santiago asks why they would want to do that to Margarito because he is like his brother. The nasty twins ask if Santiago, isa pog too and laugh. At that point Granpappy hits them with a yellow foul card. (Figuratively, not literally). Granpappy then gives a beautiful lecture about the interdependence of animals and human beings. At fhe end of it, the twins apologize, of course! Nobody has a way with words like Granpappy.

Isabel and Santiago are home. They want to talk so they get the vacuuming Conchita to leave the room. Isabel is angry because Santiago showing up has robbed them of the only thing they had to blackmail Facundo with. Now they have no leverage for an extortion. Santiago says he had never thought about it from that perspective. She tells Santiago that he wanted her to win Facundo's heart. Santiago answers that he never expected her to fall in love with Facundo. It was supposed to be all anout the money. She does not know why they are married. She wants the divorce papers. They are ripped up. She tells him to glue them back together. It is his fault that Facundo now owns the company and they are dependent on him. Santiago is upset. She wants to be alone to think. She thinks about Facundo and love some more.

Granpappy is lecturing Facundo on his stupidity. Didn't he teach him better? Facundo apologizes and says it will not happen again. Granpappy tells him he had to be strong in the face of temptation and then goes on to describe all of Isabel's "attributes". They both chuckle. It then turns serious when he tells Facundo he should be thinking about his family and María who is a saint and does not deserve to suffer or is he going to have to smack him like he did when he was a kid. He tells him to get in the house and make amends with María. It seems that Granpappy with his "ojo alegre" (wandering eye) knows his son has an "ojo alegre", too.

Part 4

Carmen is with Nicolasa and Jennifer at a table at the university making plans to go to the mall. Francis literally bumps into Diego. She is not doing well at all and it is all Carmen's fault. When she started it all with Carmen she just wanted to bother her a bit, she (Francis) did not want to end up all alone. Diego wants to talk to Carmen. carmen dismisses her two pals. Diego does 't think it is funny anymore that she is still hanging around tih those two fools: Nicolasa and Jennifer. He wants to be with her, not her pals. If she is going to be friends with "Jesiboba" and "Nicotonta" at least would she not treat them like Francis did. Must his opinion.

In Facundo and María's bedroom she is beating on him with a pillow (I first thought it was a chancla--slipper) . He is cowerimg and taking the punishment. He didn't want to go but Isabel was blackmailing him about the kiss. It was as if she had kidnapped his mind. When did he kiss her? Facundo says when María did that stupid move with Santiago (jarifa: so this is María's fault???? Not liking this) and he was angry. It all goes back to that slippery no good Isabel. How will María ever trust him? He will do whatever she wants. She has her conditions. The first is that if she ever catches him in a lie or around Isabel, tney will be done for good and she will take the kids to go live in the country. He promises he will do what she asks. He does not want to lose her. Surprise! There is a second condition. The second has to do with Santiago. She knew he wasn't going to like it and he doesn't.

Beto and Facundo arrive at the office. Facundo sees Santiago and tells him he needs to speak to him alone. Facundo makes it clear that because of María asking him to he is going to treat Santiago better but only because of her. She is grateful to Santiago for bringing the truth out. He is, therefore, telling him about a meeting of the directors that will be taking place so he can attend. Santiago starts to push his luck by asking for his office back but Facundo reminds him he doing this only because of María and if he had his way he would throw him out.

Felipe tries to talk to Santiago about the comdominiums. Santiago is only interested in making them Facundo's failure. Felipe tries to convince Santiago to go with solar panels. Santiago can't see them quckly recouping their money on them, so he is not interested.

Granny is happy that María put conditions on Facundo but doesn't seem to have much confidence in Facundo keeping up his part of the bargain. She warns María that it is a real easy fall from one kiss to another. Also María shouldn't be stirring the pot.

Isabel is meditating at home. Rocío comes in. Isabel thought she would be working at the boutique. She closed early so she could visit Esteban. Has Isabel gone? No. Isabel says now she gets where all this drama is coming from: Rocío's little novio couldn't keep his mouth shut. Rocío asks her straight up if she has a secret anout her. She begs her. She doesn't want to lose the opportunity for a better relationship that started at the mass for her mother. Isabel immediatlely takes the martyr road about having taken care of her all of these years, she does not need her to give her "opportunities". She is not cruel but practical. She tells her not to cry. Rocío leaves angry ome more time. Isabel says to herself that Rocío just can't know the truth, it is impossible.

El fin

Jarifa

Whoopsie, Part 2 should start out with Beto telling Rocío that Isabel was responsible tor Esteban's accident.

I was moving paragraphs around and something got deleted.

Jarifa

They actually went there: woman, man, snake (serpent), garden, apple.

For me the highlight of this episode was granpappy from his corridos with Santiago to his lecture on the interdependence of animals and humans to his fatherly talk with Facundo. The writers sure did a great job with his character in this episode.

I did not like that Facundo, in my opinion, never took full responsibility for the Isabel adventure. It was all María's and Isabel's fault.

All in all another fun one with plenty of action in the plot.

Jarifa

They sure did, Nanette. Very funny!

Jarifa

Yay! Stellar recap, Jarifa!

Fac is lucky Santi got Maria and tracked them down. They were about to go down a path of no return. He once again denied to Maria that he has feelings for Isa. Who does he think he's fooling? He was about to spend the night with her!

I was hoping Maria's second condition was letting her have her shawl business back. Oh, well! Will Fac remember his promise to let her leave with the kids if he screws up again? Of course, the kids won't want to go.

I like that instead of calling her out about her clothes and hair like Feli did, Diego called Carmen out on her attitude and the caliber of people she was hanging out with. Were Jessica and Nicolassa just born to be groupies?

Thanks Jarifa for the quick, awesome recap.

So this is MARIA'S fault?!

Granny. SHUT UP!!!!

Vivi, that is what was so annoying about Facundo. He portrayed himself as so much the victim. Everybody made him do what he did and was on the road to doing. Sure . . . As for Jessica and Nicolasa, maybe that is their lot in life. Interesting.

Nanette, so true about granny.

Jarifa

Considering the whole machismo thing he's got going on, I'm not surprised Fac blamed the two women.

Thank you so much for the phenomenal recap, Jarifa! I understood more than I thought, but still needed your recap for several things. I appreciate the care and detail.

I'm glad you are enjoying the recapping and it's easy for you. That's important. I remind you that I'm here if you need anything.

Nanette - wow. Garden, snake, Apple, man, woman. Flew right over my head. Lol.

Vivi- I had the same hope that the second condition would have to do with the shawls, but as I thought about it this morning (since I am now apparently in the habit of pondering this show as I drink my coffee) I wondered how Maria will get back in the shawl business is Isa is involved. I can't imagine Isa wants to work with her. Sad face.

Dear Carmen- please listen to your sweet boyfriend. No one likes a mean girl. Maybe Jessica and Nicolasa do like having a leader, but that doesn't mean you can't be kinder and more respectful. And look at Diego. He's darling and he's the perfect boyfriend. Did he criticize your new luke? Just some things to consider. Love, Viewerville.

If anyone is interested, here's a link to the Ranchero en la ciudad song:

https://youtu.be/9W-xzSKR1T8

Argh. I meant Maria will not want to work with Isa.

And I forgot to add that I love the Porfirio character as well.

Thanks, Jarifa. Terrific recap.

ITA Fac blaming Maria for his kissing Isa was a lot of hooey. An outright lie and ploy to play on Maria's guilt about colluding with Santi. I do not like what Fac is turning Maria into. It's like he's become a fifth kid that she has to keep in line. Do your homework (stay away from Isa) or no dessert for you (I take the family away). Maria, think outside the box, er, lockdown you are in. Break out of the house and get to your shawl business.

When Porfiro was going on and on about Isa's physical attributes to Fac, I was thinking are you trying to keep your son in line or get him to jump Isa's bones? Thankfully, Porfirio reeled himself in to get back to Fac being faithful to Maria. They both agreed Maria is a saint. Interesting, they didn't think about all her physical attributes. It's never occurred to them that another man, like the trainer at the fitness center, would notice Maria and come onto her.

I've been on the fence between Diego and Feli. I like Diego, but the credits tell me Feli is end game. But with Diego criticizing Carmen for her behavior rather than her new look as Feli did, I'm not so sure anymore. Diego is alright and I'm going to sit at his table. But then Feli came up with the solar panel idea and is honestly trying to make Fac's plans a success. I guess I'm still on the fence.

The solar panel idea was great, and Feli is a good person. He just hasn't shown me that he's good boyfriend material yet.

Niecie - I would kill for Maria's body. And she's had 4 kids! (I realize África hasn't.) I am hoping she gets a new luke too. For the life of me I can't understand Fac's infatuation with Isa. I guess it's like Isa said - men like the bold ones.

And Feli *is* a good guy. But like Vivi said- he's not showing a lot of boyfriend potential to me. He addressed a superficial issue (outside appearance) and Diego addressed a deep down issue (how to treat people.)

I am all for Feli being a success at the construction business's. That little secretary is cute. Maybe they can get together. :)

Sara, thanks to you "posting" the recap is easy. Writing the actual recap, not as easy. It is so funny because one of my most hated tasks has always been writing up anything and this is turning out to be fun. I never would have thought that in a million years. I really aporeciate your support and availibility. Thank you for the "Ranchero en la ciudad" link.

Niecie, I am also on the fence between Diego and Felipe. That is why I am not at the Diego table. They are both good guys in their own way but not perfect. I could be happy with Carmen ending up with either one or neither. Would it not be great if a third guy swooped in and ended up with Carmen? As for not discussing, María's physical attributes, I think they have too much "respect" for her in her role of Facundo's wife to go there.

Jarifa

That's an interesting thought about them having "respect" for her role as wife. Has Fac stopped seeing her as a desirable woman? Is she just a baby making, housemaker machine. Probably she is in Fac's eyes. OK. Let's get another man in here to open Fac's eyes. Or maybe more like eye surgery because Fac is blind!

I still struggle to write recaps. Writing is one of my most hated tasks. And I get a lot of performance anxiety because Caray is filled with professional quality writing.

When is María's old flame Florencio going to make his appearance and shake things up? I cannot wait.

Jarifa

Amen, Jarifa! We had sort of assumed it would be at the anniversary party and we haven't heard a thing about the party in a while.

I'm setting up a pouty time out table. I'll be over there grumbling about the non-party and the lack of Florencio.

A "pouty time out " table? Love it! You always have such creative phrases and ideas, Sara. I had forgotten about the party. Yes, it is now a "non-party". How could they have it now?

Jarifa

There are so many things up in the air. It's not a criticism. It's something I like about the show. Lots of teasing and hints getting dropped.

Though I do hope they give us some info about Rocío soon. That mystery is killing me.

I forgot to say how much I enjoyed seeing Ale in Susana-wear. I don't think she should copycat the luke. I realize she had to share clothes. I'm hoping Ale will get to start making her own clothing decisions. I kind of felt bad when she said Isa brought all her clothes.

Wonderful recap!

The episode didn't quite go the way I wanted it. I wanted Maria to throw Fac out of the house. He was just about to have sex with another woman and he lied the whole time! Isa and Fac's lies to their spouses on why they were doing it are just ridiculous. Poor Maria and Santi. Florencio needs to come in and swoosh Maria away for awhile.

Glad Beto told Rocio the truth. And glad Diego called Carmen out on her behavior. This plot is a lot like Mean Girls.

Porfiro with the kids and animals was a nice highlight. Poor Ale has nothing but dresses? Glad she got some clothes from Susana but agree I hope she finds her own look.

Jarifa, I'm a fan. Period. Your recaps reel me in and are such a treat for the eyes and heart.

"The spa seems to be a grand mixture of New Age spirituality. because he is like his brother: and "At that point Granpappy hits them with a yellow foul card. (Figuratively, not literally)Granpappy hears them refer to "traitors" were among my many favorites.

Jarifa, you are indeed right in that "It seems that “Granpappy with his "ojo alegre" (wandering eye) knows his son has an "ojo alegre", too". Despite the grade school remarks about Isa, in my heart, I believe he is all bluster and is unhappy with son chasing their dewy-eyed neighbor. "so this is María's fault???? Not liking this" – no me either Jarifa. And as for Granny saying Maria shouldn’t stir the pot - with all due respect, please be quiet. You’ve fueled the fire enough.

Nanette, They actually went there: woman, man, snake (serpent), garden, apple. Excellent…

Carmen, please listen to Diego and Sara. Return to the sweet girl that made Diego (and us) fall for you. Niecie, I’m joining you at Diego’s table.

I was up "late" and caught the soccer game where that devilish red head was going to hit Margarito. Thankfully, that was nipped in the bud...Those animals just melted my heart. Was that a really, really huge rabbit I saw?

Jarifa, fab, fab, fab.

Diana

Thought Diego and Frances had a moment there.

Until recently, Fac still acted like he desired Maria.

I have to admit when Jacinto mentioned twins, I was hoping it would be Alex and Guille from MCET.

Diana- I feel validated knowing I am not the only person who considers the 8/7C hour "late." :-)

Nanette - I thought I saw that Diego/Francis moment, too. Deep down I think Diego has a lot of empathy, which most boys are expected to repress. As long as he is happy and not just being stuck with someone (does that make sense?) I'll be satisfied.

Diana, the animals are such a highlight for me. I love seeing them each episode. I was so glad Susana was on her game and could save poor little Margarito.

Nanette, it would not surprise me if Diego and Francis had a moment. Things move so quickly and sometimes unexpectedly in this novela.

Jarifa

Carvivlie - I didn't see MCET, but that would have been so cool if they had done that!

Carvivlie, those twins from MCET were the best!

Jarifa

I was glad Susana was in her game, too! I don't know what I would have done if anything happened to one of the animals. It would have been very disappointing. Porfirio's speech gives me reason to believe I won't have to worry about any animal abuse plots.

Well Diego and Francis were friends before Carmen ever arrived on the scene. Francis had to be a better person at some point for Feli to have fallen for her. Shared history can go a long way to smoothing over character defects the other person may have. If Diego has known Francis for years he can feel sympathy for what she's become and empathy for her feeling alone. But she did do it all to herself and he knows that too.

And I do feel kind of bad for Francis. Yes she did it to herself, but there's still a chance for her to be a better person.

Wow. Some of our bad guys are improving while our good guys keeps going down the moral slip and slide.

"Moral slip and slide" that's a good one!

Thanks! I wish it weren't so accurate. Not a spoiler, but I thunking Fac will slip before tonight's episode is over. For Jarifa's sake I hope not.

Sara, "moral slip and slide" is a real keeper. I would love to document the Facundo fall if it were to happen. There is so much time left in this novela I will be surprised if it doesn't happen some time or other.

Jarifa

I can't stop thinking about the Fac and Isa embrace at the end of the opening credits.

I'm going back to the pouty, grumbling, time out table.

Sara: Yeah we haven't had that scene yet and in it Fac looks like the aggressor so looks like he is falling down the rabbit hole soon. My question is how does Maria respond? I keep wanting her to throw him out. Obviously I haven't been thrilled with how she has responded to these transgressions.

Hi Jarifa, thank you .. details, details, and I miss them. As for the opening credits, didn't we have that scene almost in the beginning of the tn? Wasn't it a dream of Isa's. I could be totally wrong. Does anyone else remember that?

Maria is disappointing me as much as Fac right now. After this last "meet me at the spa" stunt, Facu should be toast and she should be filing. And she should pack up her mother and send HER back to the country. Grrrrrrrrr.

Anon, you could be right about the image. I simply do not remember. It will be interesting seeing just how much María will take now she has issued her conditions.

Jarifa

Oh it was definitely early on in the TN that we saw Isa fantasizing about the kiss we see in the opening credits. It's the fact that that's the final image they have in the opening credits that has me scratching my head.

Oh, I didn't remember seeing it in the show. I thought it was still to come. hmmm good point about that being the last image...is the whole TN going to be a will they/won't they until the end?

I kind of hope not, but if I have to pick a plot to drag out it's that one. I don't want Isa's secret to drag on.

I actually believe Facundo will not "cheat" on Maria. The kiss was wrong. Dead wrong and I admit I'm walking on the edge of the moral cliff. But I don't think they will actually sleep together.

Am I naïve or just not too bright? I'm never right but I am hoping that this might be the first :)

Diana

Well I'm right there with you, Diana. This is supposed to be more family fare so I can't imagine Fac will actually cheat. Then again, other contributors had to remind me of that and the fact that divorce is not likely. I've been watching drama so long I expect the worst.

So far this has been remarkably light fare for even a comedy. It would be nice if it were to continue in the same vein. That would be refreshing.

Jarifa

I wouldn't mind that, either. Then again, I'm currently reading a Nancy Drew, so that sort of tells you what I consider entertainment.

Sara is right. That final embrace in the credits happened in Isa's dream/fantasy many, many episodes back. These opening credits give nothing away about what couples are final game. I still don't believe that the writers will put in a divorce. But I'm still not 100% certain that means Facundo will never cheat on Maria and sleep with Isa.

Isa's secret has been spoken about so much in the last few episodes that it seems we will soon get some big reveal. Ojala!

Love your takes on Diego. I agree he is empathetic, despite his too cool for school exterior. His talk with Carmen in her car when she thought her parents were divorcing, and his talk with Rocio after he and Carmen found her drunk in the club, come to mind.

Ugh. I don't want Fac to sleep with Isa. I know it happens in real life and that a marriage can survive despite and affair, but for some reason I don't want that. Sad face! Really big sad face!

Yes Vivi! Those are excellent examples of why I like Diego so much.

I really wish they would give us some more positive scenes with Feli.

I love Nancy Drew. I ended up with some first editions a cousin gave me years ago. She looks pretty snazzy in her 30's get ups on the covers. I remember each chapter ending in such a way that you had to read on.

I'm amazed at Diego. Such a jerk when we first met him and now he's one of the best of the good guys. Frances did show some vulnerability. She's probably redeemable.

Maria's problem is her mother.

Vivi: was thinking the same thing about the secret. It's like in American soaps when a character who has left the show starts getting talked about a lot, you can bet they're due for a comeback or visit.

Fac sleeping with Isa would ruin this TN for me.

We know Feli is a good guy, VERY hard working (he beats Diego there, hands down), and loves his family. But a lot seems to go over his head, and he has a high tolerance for the women around him spewing b.s. (Isa and Francis). This makes him seem oblivious and weak sometimes.

I am so jealous of you right now, Nanette. That is so cool that you have some first editions. In addition to the mysteries, I've got a couple non-fiction books about Nancy Drew on my to read list. One is about Mildred Wirt Benson (Carolyn Keene) and the other a book of essays about Nancy Drew.

Diego really has changed since the beginning.

Maria is getting terrible advice from almost everyone. Carmen is the only one who's come close to giving her good advice (love yourself.)

Not to mention Feli's video game playing. Which is unfair of me because boys love their video games. Lol.

He is a hard worker and he doesn't seem as classist as Francis, but he is coming off kind of like a dimwit.

Has anyone else noticed that the tv is ALWAYS on in the Velasco house, but no one is ever watching (just Feli playing games sometimes), and the only time the tv is on in the Carmona house is when they are all watching together?

Vivi: I did notice the TV being on constantly in the Velasco house. And it's in the most awkward place for viewing and playing games. It seems to play the news a lot. Have you seen any novelas playing?

Sara: I have Girl Sleuth: Nancy Drew and the Women Who Created Her but haven't read it yet.

Nanette- that's one of the books I was talking about! I have read it once and this will be my second reading.

I've also noticed the TV and found it odd. Especially its location.

Sara: I can't tell you how many books I've bought that sit around for years before I read them. Sometimes I forget I have them. I've been reading Natalie Goldberg's writing books--her most famous was Writing Down the Bones. I got it from the library and re-read it a few months ago. The other day I found a paperback copy among some books. Forgot I had it.

I'm the same way. I've gotten to where I buy most of my books from Amazon.com because it tells me I already bought a book and when. I still end up with duplicates lol.

Recap coming. : )

Jarifa

You got such a great episode!!

Capítulo 54 6/11/15 The Velasco Defection Special

Part 1

Beto just happens to come home from work to eat so María goes to set him a place. Granpappy Porfirio is only interested in when Conchita is coming to work. Beto notices his mom looks like she has been crying--only onions she says--and that his dad did not go on the business trip after all. Rocío arrives still all upset from her altercation with Isabel. She hates Isabel and just can't deal with her anymore.

At work Facundo literally runs into Felipe (who drops a folder) and becomes aware of Felipe's solar panel idea as he helps him pick up the contents of his folder. He says that he brought the idea to Santiago but he was not interested. Facundo is interested when he hears that they can use them in the condos they are constructing. Facundo tells him to come to his office so they can talk. They both look all around to make sure Santiago does not see them.

Back at the house, Beto wants to know what Isabel said. Rocío says she said nothing and that it is as if she Rocío does not exist and is not important to her. She had thought that after they had the mass for her mother they would be off on a new foot but that things have just gone back to the same old same old secret thing. María tells Beto to go that she wants to talk to Rocío alone. Rocío is not too sure but she says she is not going to scold her. María is concerned about how bad it is living at her house. Rocío says she did not want to cause problems but she had no where to go. María knows that they haven't always gotten along well but Beto loves her (Rocío adds she loves him) amd that feelings cannot be changed. Rocío should feel free to come over anytime and talk to her about any problems she has at home. Rocío hugs María who hugs her back.

Jacinto is talking to a snaggle toothed dog Murci telling him how happy he is that he looks after his grandpa and makes him happy. The dog of course talks back saying he will do his duty by taking care of his master. He is such a good dog and Jacinto is such a great pal just like his daddy Porfirio.

At the Velasco's, Isabel asks a returning Rocío where she was. Rocío tells her she went to Beto's house, so what. She also tells Isabel that she will not be telling Santiago or anyone about Isabel's role in Esteban's accident because she does not want anyone to suffer on Isabel's account. She doesn't want to know about anything about Esteban or any secret anymore. In spite of their short relationship, María has been more than a mother to her than Isabel has been in her whole life. Isabel needs to realize it is not all about err. She is not the center of the universe. From now on Isabel is her employer nothing else. So now she has just what she wanted. Isabel tells her that she will be deducting her day's pay from her check. Let María pay her. Rocío says she couldn't expect less from Isabel.

Part 2

At the directors meeting at the company, Santiago is loving the spotlight lecturing with charts. Facundo stops him short because he has had enough of the boring stuff and board members are falling asleep. He introduces Felipe who proceeds to talk abouy his solar panel proposal. Santiago is angry and cannot believe it. Felipe is all excited. They will be giving the vest of the best to the people. They will be on the cutting edge.

Beto runs into Felipe in the hallway and congratulates him. Santiago is just angry with Felipe and sees him as a traitor. Felipe reminds him that he did come to him first. Facundo tells Santiago to talk with Felipe at home. Facundo invites Felipe over to the house for dinner sp that they can talk about the project some more.

Susana and Ale are in Susana's room talking anout clothes again. Susana does not like to dress like girls her age because they are just boring. Susana admits she liked a boy back in her town but he only saw her with her braids and overalls. She has never worn a dress. Ale decides it is her turn to dress Susana this time like a girl.

Back at the office, Isabel manages to get Facundo alone in the elevator. He is getting out and she pushes him back in. He is quick on his feet, agile and just keeps moving as she goes on and on about having to talk to him. She wants him to take her out to lunch so they can talk. He keeps telling her he is not interested. She is crazy, nuts. He then adds that the real reason he is not inviting her out for a few tacos is because not even her niece or nephew like her. She is left alone sad and trapped in the elevator saying to herself that they are not her niece and nephew; they are her daughter and son (her hijos).

Susana and Ale are outside at the house and Susana is in a dress with her hair out of pigtails. Granpappy does not recognize her at first. Andrés is there and tells her she looks cute but ne likes ner better with her overalls and braids. Susana tells him he should like lovely, delicate refined girls like Alejandra. Ale pokes her to shut her up. Andrés just keeps smiling at Susana.

Part 3

Looks like it is supper time at the Carmona's. Everyone is seated around the table including Felipe who is really enjoying himself and fits right in.Carmen wants to know why Facundo didn't tell her Felipe was coming. Facundo says it was because Felipe was coming over to discuss business. Granpappy Porfirio is flirting with Conchita as usual. Granny and María are actually both sitting and eating with the family. Conchita is serving. Felipe stands up and toasts Facundo to thank him for the opportunity he is giving him at the company. Felipe starts to say that even though there have been problems between their families, . . . Facundo cuts him off and tells him that his aunt and uncle are his aunt and uncle but he is who he is. Beto adds that his mom actually became friends with Rocío today. The boy genius Jacinto pops up and starts to lecture on solar technology.

At the Velasco's, dinner is a rather quiet somber affair with Santiago, Isabel and Ale (who ends up taking her food to her room.) Santiago is upset Felipe is at the Carmina's. Isabel recounts what Rocío told her about María being more of a mother.Santiago agrees that Rocío is probably right because María is an exemplary woman even if Isabel does not like her. Isabel's reaction is that the Carmona's are robbing them of everything not just the company but now their children. So they are going to do what they should have done in the first place: make life a living hell for those stanky ranchers. Santiago wants to know if that includes Facundo. Isabel says especially Facundo.. Santiago kisses her hand.

Felipe is on his way out and thanks Facundo for everything. Facundo says he will be invited back for more delicious food. He wants him to feel like he is in his own home. Felipe is so grateful amd happy, he gives Facundo a hug he was not expecting. Facundo tells him he just wants him to work hard. Carmen convinces Facundo to let her and Felipe talk for a couple of minutes alone. She asks him why he was so strange to her at dinner. He says he is now working with her dad and she is with Diego, so what does she expect from him? She just (jarifa: wants to have her cake and eat it too) wants them to be friends like before. That is okay by him. Friends. They go to shake hands. They almost kiss, but he just gives her a peck on the cheek. He trips on the way out. She is in tears as he leaves.

Santiago is on the phone with Esteban's doctor and finds out that Esteban is out of his coma and convalescing. Felipe comes in and says he does not want to fight. He says he had a business meeting. Santiago wants to know where he ate because he smells like onion.
He quickly changes the subject to say he wants to work on the solar panel projext with Felipe. Felipe says that is not possible because he is working with Facundo. Santiago reminds him of family loyalty. Felipe says they should learn what family loyalty is first and then they can talk. Santiago calls him a brat who still smells like pee pee.

At the Carmona's, Facundo is talking with Esteban on the phone. He will go and visit him soon. María wants to know if Esteban is well. Facundo asks her if she believes weeds never die but then quickly adds how good it is that Esteban is out of his coma.

Santiago is still talking with Isabel about how mad he is with Felipe. Isabel says that it is Facundo's fault and that she bets that Facundo is going to give Felipe a raise just so he will make more than Santiago.. She ends up calling him a loser and doing the old loser hand signal as she leaves the room.

Part 4

Estefany pays a supposedly sleeping Esteban a visit. She tells him her period has not come so she must be pregnant with Santiago's baby. That wakes him up. He thanks God that he heard what he did. Estefany clarifies that that means Santiago will have to be responsible for the beautiful little baby. Esteban motions her closer then grabs her by the arm and pulls her closer. He meeds her to get a doctor from the hospital to check her out and give her a pregnancy test. A drugstore pregnancy test won't do. He kisses her. Estefany thinks what if Facundo ends up being saddled with this baby. She likes that idea.

Susana and Jacinto are not in bed het. They want to know why Alejandra cannot come over when Rocío and Felipe are allowed to. Much to Jacinto's delight, Facundo says from now on Alejadra can come over. As a matter of fact she can come tomorrow to eat after school. He tells María he is merely following the instructions from the counselor at school trying to pay more attention to Jacinto. Facundo finally asks Jacinto if he is in love with that little girl (Alejandra) and Jacinto just answers "so?".

It is early morning and Isabel is not happy to be awakened by the rooster so she decides to take action. She is going to do what she should have done a long time ago. She get on the phone and makes a call. The rooster's hours are numbered.

Susana and Alejandra are outise with Andrés again. Alejandra tells Susana that she is going to take matters into ner own hands and tell Andrés she likes him. Jacinto hears and encourages Susana to talk her out of it. Alejandra says women don't have to wait around for a guy to make the move anymore. Susana goes on about how wonderful the old ways are when women get all dressed up,go out for a walk around the plaza to let the guys know they are available. That does not fly with Alejandra. Alejandra has decided to send Andrés a note at school without telling him who it is from. Susana tells her that that won't do anything and that she is just as crazy as Carmen. Jacinto wants to talk to Ale but Ale wants to talk to Andrés and then . . .

Granny is yelling for help because the cow is missing. They are all looking for it. They find it with two men and a truck who are from the animal welfare office. They tell María and Granny that there has been a complaint placed against for cruelty to animals, a very loud rooster and odors coming from their house. These mind of animals can't be in these mind of places. He has an order to confiscáte them. Facundo arrives andthey find out it was Isabel who filed the complaint. Facundo amd Porfirio talk a out how much they love and care for their animals, etc. They all argue for them not to take the animals. Susana is in fighting mode with her fists up.

At the same time, Isabel is chatting with Frederick at her house. He is telling her that the only time she will be happy is when she stops thinking about the ranchers. He is off to a great sale downtown. She can't leave because she wants to see how her phone call paid off.

María has had it and heads over to Isabel's. Isabel is meditating with Conchita out by the pool drinking martinis. Conchita leaves to get her some imported Greek olives when she sees María confronting Isabel . Isabel goes screaming and running away but María catches her arm and drags her to the swimming pool.

El fin

Jarifa

Thank you, Jarifa! I'm headed for bed, but I cannot wait to read your take on this episode! See you tomorrow!

Part4 : These "kind" of animals cannot be in these "kind" of places.

Jarifa

Yay, Jarifa! This was so wonderful. Can I just say how happy it made me that Maria finally accepted Rocio! More tomorrow.

Thanks Jarifa.

Looks like one of our theories was right re: Rocio being Isa's child. Didn't expect that Feli was too though.

Are Feli and Rocio twins? I can see Isa giving one baby to her sister to raise or even twins, but it's hard for me to believe she gave two babies born at different times to be raised by her.

How old were they when their parents "died (?)"

Another good one last night. I really liked Facundo's attitude towards Isabel. He could not move any faster to keep away from her and get away from her. That is how he should have been around her from the beginning. But will it last???

My favorite parts last night were Felipe at the Carmona's for dinner and María taking Rocío under her wing. I have always liked Felipe so it was nice to see some character development there. Carmen needs to make up her mind.

At least Facundo was paying attention to what they told him at the school. Jacinto was so cute when he was asking if Alejandra could come over.

Nanette, I have some more questions to add to yours:

Why did Isabel find it necessary to lie to Santiago about who the parents of Rocío and Felipe were? We do know they have been married for seventeen years. Were the kids there from the beginning? If not when did they come to live with them?

Was there ever a "sister?" If there was a sister, was she a twin? (That was meant to be funny) Did they go to a memorial mass for nobody?

Why would Isabel give her sister her children to raise?

Who was the father of Rocío and Felipe? Is it someone we already know?

Then back to: why did Isabel want Rocío out of the house by a certain date?

I sure hope the writers are doing their due diligence on continuity because we sure are with Sara's list . I hate loose, lost ends.

More later.

Jarifa

It was a great episode last night and your superb recap just added to my enjoyment, Jarifa. Thank you so much. I also appreciate you and Nanette's questions. With your permission I will simply copy and paste them onto our list.

The "twin" thing has actually crossed my mind before.

Likes
Maria and Rocío getting along.

More of Feli scenes. Like others, I want them to develop his character more.

Marci el perro.

Susana and Jacinto asking when the ban on Ale will be lifted.

Dislikes
The Carmonas being accused of animal abuse. That is serious. Especially considering Porfirio's speech on Wednesday.

Estefy thinking she can blame Fac for the baby.

The previews. Poor Maria! Poor Marta!

Grrr. Autocorrect. That's Murci el perro.

Just copy and paste Sara's comment. Ditto everything she said.

The secret behind Isa's sobrinos/ninos and sister is just too murky for me to even begin to speculate. I need more clues.

Sara, we are doomed if you use the auto correct (or if you don't like me with the typos) anytime we mix Spanish and English. It is annoying either way.

Jarifa

I think we can all agree that autocorrect makes for fun reading. I am a big fan of Susanlynn's autocorrects.

Honestly, I was kind of confused by Isa's "hijos" line since she has referred to them as both hijos and sobrinos since the beginning. I've always sort of suspected one or both of them was actually her child/children. This kind of just makes me dislike her even more. She's been so terrible to them.

Vivi, you are right. Too many questions and not enough info yet.

Jarifa

Murci looked so happy to have Jacinto scratching her (?) head. Even rolling over for a tummy rub. I really hope they succeed in convincing the animal control folks to not take the animals away. That would really wound the whole family. I hate Isa!

Sara, it is confusing with Isabel calling them her "hijos". That is why I used the word in the recap. Who knows? They sure have made Isabel crazy/unstable enough that they can change/negate things she says anytime they want without compromising the character. Between her personality, the meds, and the alcohol, you never really know with her. Lots of room for ambiguity. However it shakes out, it is sure going to be interesting and going to give us a lot to discuss.

Jarifa

Didn't Murci look like the perfect dog to be on a ranch? I loved his toothy smile.

Jarifa

IMO Murci stole the show last night.

Jarifa, your detailed, all encompassing recap was simply superb. I cannot thank you enough for including all the events and for doing it so well.

I loved your insights including "She just (jarifa: wants to have her cake and eat it too) wants them to be friends like before" which seemed to capture Carmen's wishes perfectly.

"Santiago agrees that Rocío is probably right because María is an exemplary woman even if Isabel does not like her". Although Santiago has done many dastardly deeds, I sense there is something good at his core. Is there any chance he is redeemable? Other far more evil characters have been and as of now, a tiny part of me hopes he may be (dependent of course on what he does in the future). From what I'm reading, he seems more likeable that Isa at the present.

Very glad to see Fac ran away from Isa. I don't know why she would ever call animal control as she knows that will incur Fac's wrath.

Like you Jarifa, Sara and Vivi, I'm also anxious to know the truth about Rocio and Feli.

Think I like Carmen with Diego better although glad Fac has taken Feli under his wing.

Diana

Diana - I know I am hoping that Santi is redeemable. You've described it perfectly - there is something good at his core. I do not get that same feeling from Isa.

Diana, I also hope that Santiago is redeemable. He is such a likable scoundrel because of the way he loves the kids. Too bad his Achilles heel is his love for Isabel. I wonder if that love and trying to keep her happy with plenty of $$$ has corrupted him.

Jarifa

Sara, no warm and fuzzies for or from Isa for certain! :)

Jarifa, yes, he does love the children, reason enough (well almost) for redemption. Perhaps he will wake up one day and see Isa for who she truly is. We can only hope!

Diana

Great recap!

I am definitely not above speculating, but I am usually wrong too! I think there is no sister. I think Isa was married and had two kids before ever meeting Santi. I bet the husband is now dead or in jail. She now has two kids to take care of and meets a rich Santi who can take care of her. (That would explain their marriage woes of the past bec she wasn't in love with him.) She plays the martyr to Santi by saying she has to raise her dead sister's kids. He falls hook, line and sinker and in love with Puchis. Maybe Isa fears that Rocio was old enough to remember the truth and that's why she wants her to be declared crazy and keeps her distance from her. IDK. Isa makes some really weird decisions.

Carvivlie, very interesting. Sure answers lots of the questions. It will be fun seeing how it all pans out.

Jarifa

Looks like Carmen only has eyes for Feli. I've never seen her look at Diego the way she does Feli. What a shame! Diego seems to understand Carmen better than Feli and he's not afraid to call her out.

Isa calling animal control is so in character. If she's not happy and gets what she wants, i.e. Fac, then no one will be happy. She for me is the worst villain in this piece so far.

I hope the bloody party starts tonight. I want to see Florencio. Also, I hope Maria looks amazing.

That's really good thinking Carvivlie! I'm hoping you all are correct that since they are talking about "the secrets" so much that they are on the verge of being revealed.

Thanks Jarifa !!! Remember the mystery man in the psychiatrist office? Could he be the father? What was that connection. Oh, the plot thickens.

I just can’t see Maria falling for Estefany’s “Fac is my baby daddy” routine. I suppose Santi could work it so it looks like Fac gave E. that apartment. However, I don’t see Esteban going for it. If Isa and Santi were getting a divorce with Isa thinking she was hooking up with Fac, then maybe. But they’re not, so don’t think Esteban will let it happen.

Isa’s comment about Feli and Rocio could be read both ways, they are her hijos, or she thinks of them as her hijos.

Margarito stole the show for me. Another scene where I didn’t pay attention to what was being said because M. was being so cute. I wasn't too happy with Ale for almost sitting on Margarito and then pushing him out of the way and then when he wanted to lay on her lap (or was trying to get her to move off his spot) she pushed him away again and put a doll between them. Either the actress isn’t too fond of him, or he was being too much of a distraction while she was saying her lines---or she knew Viewerville wouldn’t be paying attention to her if he was in the shot. Frankly, while he was out of the shot I wasn’t paying attention to the girls waiting for another siting of cute as a bug’s ear Margarito!!!

I agree that I think Santi would have been a better person if he wasn’t always trying to accommodate Isa.

My guess is the end game for Carmen will be Feli and Diego will be hooked up with a new and improved Frances—unless Nicolasa can hook him—though he doesn’t seem to be in to her at all.

Carvivlie: good call on Isa’s secret and on Isa being the villain of the piece.

Jarifa - Fab recap. Thanks much for my afternoon break.

Add me to the happy that Maria made friendly with Rocio table. I also like that Maria didn't listen to Facundo and went on over to confront Isa anyway. It may not be the right thing to do, but I'm tired of Fac thinking he's the boss of Maria.

Count me in the "Isa has no sister" pool. Wondering if Santi ever met this so-called sister or any of Isa's relatives. I am convinced now that the mystery person Isa talks to on the phone is a relative though.

How sweet of Beto to notice his mom had been crying, and how protective of her to not to tell him "Yes, your father didn't stay overnight on that biz trip. I caught him on a romantic spree with Isa."

I hope Susanna's old San Bartolo crush pops up somehow. I don't want to see these two friends fighting over Andres.

Funniest moment: Santi telling Beto he still smells of pipi. I like that saying better than "still wet behind the ears."

Murci was just adorable. That dog is a natural actor.

Sara, your new avatar is adorable too. Is s/he yours?

Niecie- I do like the idea of Susana's crush making an appearance. I don't want Ale and Susana fighting either.

Alas my avatar is just an image from the Internet. Over at the Sombra patio we like to exclaim "sweet baby chihuahuas!" when we get excited.

I kind of like his sly little grin.

Nanette- we are a finely tuned patio. I am often amazed how two or more of us notice the same things or how our faves lists match.

I had the same thought as a watched Margarito last night. It was perhaps the only time I felt negative toward Ale. One must always look before they sit when there are animals around.

I almost wondered if she sat on his snack. He was being very pushy.

Sara, cute chihuahua!

Niecie, yes, it was protective of María not to tell Beto the whole truth about his father and the trip. Must have been hard. María really calmed down quickly this time after she issued her "conditions".

Jarifa

About the Isa/Fac moment: Though I thought Fac could have made a better effort getting out of the elevator, I did like that he took Maria's threat to heart.

Sara: I didn't think about the snack thing. I think he just wanted some lovin'. Every time he sits so quietly in Susana's arms, I get this tiny feeling they might be drugging him. I hope not.

Back at last if only to say these recaps are so fantastic...entertaining, yet informative with detail and fun...and I want to thank Sara,Jarfa and Marta for providing their talent. Also glad Diane is back as she was missed. Thanks Sara for your comment. My tv is fine but am having trouble with the computer. Anyway, I keep up with the recaps and comments cause I enjoy this so much. Have trouble blogging and am on a borrowed computer for sending stuff.

I was ready to kill Facundo until lasr night and of course Isabel all the time. She had better have a good excuse for treating her own kids so poorly and pretending to be their their aunt all these years. All those poor animals, oh no. Must watch tonight.

GinCA

GinCA, great to have you on our cozy little patio! .

Jarifa

Thanks for checking in GinCA! Computer troubles are the worst. I'm glad you are still watching and enjoying.

Now I'm thinking I haven't seen Eva in a couple of days.

(I'm a worry wart.)

I'm starting to get excited! Almost telenovela time!

Yes! Yes! Should be fun tonight!

Jarifa

Great to see you too GinCA.

Yes, I am smiling away as I enthusiastically agree with your comments on these marvelous recaps and comments.

I hope the recappers know how much they brighten our day...

I'm still scratching my head as to how Rocio and Feli can be Isa's children but I am looking forward to seeing/hearing the truth.

Diana

Diana and all patio contributors - I hope y'all know how much y'all brighten *my* day!

I love visiting the Caray patios every day.
