Lo Imperdonable #22 Tue 6/16/15 Stop with the crying!

*Ahem* Let's get this party started!

Okay, we start tonight's episode with Manuel asking Grandpa Cres to get him out of jail, he's learned his lesson! He follows this up by telling gramps that it was all that woman's fault for throwing herself at him. The f*ck? Clearly this worm has not learned his lesson. Gramps tells him that there's nothing he can do. Manuel does not give up, first he says he can't stay in jail because who will look after the mine? When Cres tells him he'll figure it out Manuel tries to get Cres to help him break out of jail because he (Manuel) is the last Alvarez left, without him the whole family line dies (good!).

Cres tells him he can't help, if he does he too will end up in jail and that's not gonna happen. He tells Manuel he is disappointed in him and to take his punishment like a man. Once Cres is out of earshot Manuel says that he will never forgive the old man for not helping him. Manuel's day gets worse when he asks a police officer for a beer, the officer tells him that's a no-go and Manuel is all like "just wait till I get out of here!".

Manuel wants to know how long he is going to be in the pokey and the officer tells him 1-2 days while the investigation is going on, Manuel starts to get happy until the officer dashes all his hopes and dreams by telling him that after that he will be sent to the big house where he could get up to 40 years in jail. Suck on that Manuel!

My patio peeps, this week I'm going to introduce Cresencio death watch: A countdown till the old goat dies. Is it mean? Yes, but I can't stand him and hope he falls over and dies.

Ana Perla is at home with her Blanca, her little brother, Pablo and Julio. She is in tears because her brother is in jail. Pablo makes things worse by telling her Manuel could do 40-60 years in jail. WHERE DO THEY COME UP WITH THOSE NUMBERS?! She cries some more, there's no way her grandfather could survive that, and her brother being in jail for so long is wrong.

Recapper Rant:

Ana Perla you idiot. Instead of crying you should be dancing! You are *this* close to freedom from your abusive sh*thead brother and from that old goat known as grandfather who would probably  keep you locked up for all eternity if he could. Instead of crying I'd be trying to make deals with Satan to keep my brother in jail!

Pablo says he knows the Santelmo and will talk to him, maybe he can do something to help Manuel. Ana Perla thanks him, once he is gone Julio approaches her and says that if he knew important people he would also try to help. Ana Perla thanks him and says he has made her feel better. Okay, I know I'm supposed to root for Pablo but I'm team Julio all the way.

Veronica is with father Juan, she wants to know more about the darkness in Martin, she wants to be able to help him but she has no idea how to do so! Father Juan, says he can't answer any more of her questions, her husband has already given her the answers she was seeking-then he asks if there's anything in the past (her past?) that would make Martin behave the way he is, she says she's never done anything wrong, with that she leaves the priest and goes home to her awful husband.

Vero is trying to help Martin when the Frenchman arrives with a suitcase for her. Martin the terrible is totally hostile and asks why he brought the suitcase and not Pablo? Martin is an ass. He then accuses the older man of being after his wife-someone stab him again! The Frenchman is more than gracious, he apologizes for causing any problems and promises Veronica that he will send someone to her if/when she gets a fax from her family. He does not know when that will happen because with the storm the phone lines got messed up.

Veronica walks him to the door and apologizes for her husbands behavior. I have a feeling she's going to be doing that a lot. Once he leaves she goes to tend to Martin and gives him two pain killers, Martin is still being an ass about someone going out of their way to HELP HIM. Ugh, I just can't with this guy.

In Mexico Botel and Magdalena have arrived with the gold, they go to visit Jorge and are greeted by the Virginia, who gets the stink eye from Botel, she wonders if he knows about her from Demetrio, whose photos she deleted from her computer because how dare he kill himself!

Botel and the Prado-Castelos finish their meeting, everyone is happy with the transaction and they make plans to have dinner with Jorge and Selma.

Emiliano, Claudia, Virginia and Emiliano's friend make plans to go dancing. It was Claudia's idea and she's not happy that other people got an invitation, she also seems to be after Emiliano. The kids (hahahahaha) go to a really lame club where Virginia tells Mariana that Claudia is just a common gold digger.

Back in Mina Escondida Cres goes to see his daughter and her husband, who is one of the few men in this novela who you don't want to stab, he tells them everything that's going on with Manuel and he puts his son in law in charge of the mine.

The old man is having a super busy day, he visits Veronica and Martin and asks them to drop the charges against his grandson, the guy meant no harm (he stabbed a man!) and he apologizes for everything that happened. Martin refuses to back down, he says that Manuel disrespected his wife-who knows what would have happened if he had not arrived on time. He makes it clear that he wants Manuel to pay for what he did.

Cresensio leaves but later Pablo shows up and tells Vero that he is in love with Ana Perla and she is devastated about her brother being in jail, this leads to Veronica asking Martin to show some mercy on Manuel and drop the charges. She asks if he would forgive her if she did something horrible? Then she says she wants her kids to be able to play in peace with out her having to worry and if they are going to stay in town they might as well not piss off the Alvarez family.

Martin seems surprised and softens at the idea of Veronica having his kids, she goes to get him something to eat and comes back with a visitor and food. Father Juan has come to check up on him and to tell him that Vero went to see him. He tells Martin that he said nothing to Veronica-but warns him that if he makes Veronica's life a living hell he himself will take her away from Martin.

Martin tells father Juan that he loves Veronica, that she would make a wonderful mother but that things wont work out between them because of his stupid revenge.

In Mexico city Botel and Magdalena have dinner with Jorge and Selma. Jorge wants to know how long they will be in town for and Mag says they don't know yet, they are searching for someone they have lost touch with, Jorge offers up the services of his private investigator. I've always wanted to be a PI so I could work on Cheaters.

Once the meal is over Jorge goes to get the driver to take Botel and Mag back to their hotel, while he is gone they start to look a photos that are displayed. Botel picks up a photo of a young Vero and asks Mag if she's seen the picture. The camera holds steady on the photo. And we get the closing credits.

Was Magdalena's husband so awful that 15+ years later she's still afraid of being seen by him?

Eli -wonderful recap. Your rant about anaperla crying over her jerky bro was funny.
I agree with everything but the makin a deal with satan, that never works out, that'll come back and bite her in the but. The poor girl has enough to deal with, having a wacked out brother and a grandpa that acts like a prison warden.
I like what the padre said to crazy marty, "if you make veronica's life a living hell, I will take her away from you myself." That would be a neat trick to see. Come on people, comment. I'm anxious to read stuff I may have missed. And you guys are fun to comment with.

Magda is in the house where her little girl grew up. A lot is going to happen before the truth comes out. A lot of nastiness. Selma thinks magda was a whore that abandened het daughter, and she likes throwing it in her face (veronicas face). Nastiness, it's a comin.

Thank you thank you Eli. I have missed so much on this TN, I need to do some catch-up viewing on Hulu this weekend. Seems I've had play-offs to watch of some sort every night. Now that all is over (Yeah Blackhawks, sniff Cavs) I can get back to things.

Doesn't seem like I missed too much. I got Manual in that nifty underground jail during a commercial break of the game. Anyone else wishing there would have been a heavy rain that flooded that thing?

But Ana being all sad--Stockholm syndrome. And Vero thinks this jerk should be released because Ana cries a little? I don't get her thinking either...he tried to rape her, stabbed her husband and almost killed him, and she wants to play St. Vero?? Wow. That was almost too much of a goody-two-shoes moment for me.

Should I look forward to V-2 and Emi dancing in the club? I seem to recall Ginny's not so great pole dancing in a prior TN, any better on the dancing front here? I could use a good laugh, so I'm good if it's deliciously bad.

Thanks so much Eli for such a great recap.

It's ridiculous that ANYONE would even consider Manuel being forgiven for what he did. The man assaulted someone and stabbed someone else. He deserves to rot in prison.

Eli - I agree with your rant. Come on, Ana Perla. Your brother is a psycho and deserves to be locked up for the good of the town.

Funny how Veronica brings up the possibility of having kids with Martin when the two have not consummated their marriage yet.

I loved Padre Juan telling Martin that if he sees Veronica's life becoming miserable then he'll personally get her out of that. Go Padre!

That was funny how Emiliano invited Virginia and the Nicolas to come dancing when Claudia was only interested in going to dance with Emiliano.

Ah, Eli, love your style and take on things.

"Suck on that Manuel!"

"I've always wanted to be a PI so I could work on Cheaters."

Golly, that was some lame club, weird lighting and nobody dancing, though Virginia did a few head bobs but guess couldn't break it out with no hair clip on.

As stupid as Ana Perla whining about Manuel being in jail is, Veronica listening to Pablo's drivel and pitching Martin on having compassion, incomprehensible. Did she forget he was pawing her and headed for an unwanted sexual encounter? I hate Martin but that kind of idiocy is grounds for divorce right there.

Hey, Botel, take another long look at Virginia and even if nothing comes to ya (maybe if you have a drink or two) it's freaking the girl out and entertaining.

Dammit Padre, saving a damsel is frustrated if you alert that same damsel's tormentor. You keep a bunch of stuff to yourself, practice with this.

We've all seen them, that guy that is way older than everybody else at the club, you know, Emiliano.

So, Veronica gives Pablo a little pass, having two girl friends, just cause he's in love with one of them.

Mauricio:::"Brings up the possibility of kids.... " Um Vero with Caitlyn Jenner and all don't you think you should vero-fy that you are indeed married to a MAN? Yore 'husband' is sure acting like 'that time' is perpetual in his (?) life.:-) :-)

Eli- Just wonderful!

Ditto what everyone else said about how stupid it is for AP to be crying over her idiot brother, and especially for Vero to be petitioning for them to drop the charges on a rapist/murderer! She doesn't want her kids growing up with angry neighbors, but she wants them to grow up next to a rapist-murderer?! Ok.

Let's see if Botel can crack both the Virginia and Vero mysteries. I'm really hoping Dim showed him a pic of Virginia at some point.

Hey martin, sweety your sperm need to swim up stream and meet the ovaries, CAN'T DO THAT IF YOU DON"T TUOCH YOUR WIFE!!!!!!
BUTHEAD!!! consummation is needed. And put some feeling into It. He should hurry before the honeymoon's over. God help those children!!!!

Eli: Thanks so much. I really enjoy the recapper rant break in the action. Kind if a sanity check. Thanks again

I know there really is no answer to this question, but if you were with your child until she was six, and 20 years later you meet a young woman the same age your daughter would be, with the same first name, wouldn't that be enough for you to recognize her? Or at least ask some questions about her origins. I mean, I look at pics of myself at 6, and I look like the same person, just older. It's not like she was a baby when they were separated.

Oh. And a BIG Thank You to Grampa Pervert for raising such a singularly worthless, dangerous, sociopath as Manual Labor. For all intents and purposes, murder a man because he intervened in your rape of his wife? Really? Grampa Shitforbrains you can sure be proud. Oh and he is the surviving sperm donor to carry on the Shitforbrains name? Well looks like unless he can convince a rat or cockroach to procreate with him your vaulted family name may just die out.

Vivi, glad you said that. I was born and grew up in the US but I saw relatives in Asia only in old photos. I instantly recognized them when I traveled there in my late teens.

Thanks for a great, feisty recap, Eli. I had the same reaction to you of Anna Perlas reaction. And that happy, conspiratorial look she and Blanquita shared when they told their Grandpa Manuel might be out soon made me sick! For gosh sakes, Manuel abuses Ana Perla and just cut Blanquitas little brothers hand with a knife but they are Team Manuel all the way??? I was so happy when FOR ONCE a telenovela character (Martin) stands by his guns and does the appropriate thing which is vehemently denying Crescencios ridiculous proposal. But then here comes STUPID Pablo with his bizarre request. If he were smart he would realize the best thing for Ana Perla is that her psychopath brother is behind bars. At yi yi!

Why do we think we are going to get a major interruption before Botel shows Mag the baby pic? And if Tio (Jorge?) knew Vero's dad, didn't he know Mags?! And vice versa?

Thanks again, Eli. I complain but I love this show!

P.S. I feel like Martin is setting a TN galan record for most days with his shirt off!

Vivi: Add on top of that brown hair, same basic facial structure, (cheekbones, nose, etc.) And as you said right age, same given name....come on Maggie you look pretty dumb putting up with Dr. Bottel. Don't prove it to be so by hanging with your lost daughter and having no clue.

Vivi--GREAT point!! I'm always surprised how much my teenagers look like their baby pictures, like you said, only older. I don't hold out a lot of hope for her detective skills if she can't even be bothered to ask a white, brunette, 20 something Veronice FROM MEXICO CITY a few follow up details!!!

Tofie- I was going to say that even Vero should have had some recognition of Malena's face, but I'll let it slide since she was young and is probably blocking out the trauma of watching her father beat her mother half to death. But Malena should be able to recognize Vero.

There was a case in South Africa just a few months ago about a girl in her late teens who was stolen right after she was born in the hospital. Years later, she and her bio little sister are going to the same high school, they become friends after people point out how much they look like each other, little sister brings stolen sister home to hang out, the parents see her and immediately know this is their stolen child. They secretly get some DNA to test and proved it. Now it's a mess because stolen girl loves the parents who raised her and their whole extended family.

Dr. Carlos---From the placement of the leaf last night, it looked like the wound was
about half way from the side and again about halfway from the frontal abdomen or stomach area. Anyway, you're the doctor so I will take your word for the medical term or professional advice in diagnoses of the wound. However if or when I take ill I am not going to trust my ailments cure to Dr. Carlos and a prescription or prescriptions which benefit Eli Lilly--Glaxo Smith Kline--Bristol-Meyers Squibb--Novartis or any others of the like. No, I will take my chances with Dr. Nancy ant the magic leaves. They have proven that they are a powerful cure for scrapes, cuts and knife wounds and I'm sure that they or others like them would cure a case of jungle fever as well. Yes, my mind is made up. It's Dr. Nanci for me and hey, if I get lucky nurse Vero might be there to assist.

What are the ratings of this telenovela in Mexico and US

Thanks for this excellent recap, Eli. Very well done.

Carlos

Eli, thanks so much for the recap. And I loved your rant. ITA, it was driving me nuts the way AP was crying for her brother. And if Manny gets out, I bet he won't give a damn that his sister cried her eyes out for him. Also, I hated what Pablo asked of Vero. I also can't believe that Vero actually suggested it to Martin. If Manny gets out, he better stay away from them and be greatful to be free. Yeah right! If he gets out, I doubt he will have one once of gratitude for anyone. He is the true a**hole of this story. He has no remorse for anything he does, and he has no respect for any man, woman, or animal. I need to stop right now because I can go on for a while about Manny.

Hasta pronto!

Thanks Eli---Just loved your recap and your Ana Perla rant along with all of your sides. Great job!!!

From yesterday---Several thought that after Manuel got punched he looked like a coward afraid to fight without his knife. I didn't see it quite that way. First, hadn't Manuel been drinking? he probably wasn't all there at the time and knew it.
Second, Manuel has been put in charge of the workers at the mine. Anyone that challenges him or one of his decisions/orders gets fired and how many jobs are there in a small town? All swallow their pride and tow the Manuel line punto. And so, he isn't used to being challenged. True he didn't have his knife for backup but I think that he is tough enough on his own. I think that he was just plain surprised and shocked at finally be challenged.

I hope that Martin doesn't go soft and drop the charges, he deserves to stay in jail no matter how long Ana Perla pleads and cries. What's wrong with her anyway?

@Eli - I just got chastised by my 9-year-old son for LAUGHING TOO LOUDLY while reading your recap. I'm all for the "Crescencio Death Watch". And yes, Ana Perla is an idiot. Did she forget Manuel outright told her that he HATES her? Oh, sure, she claimed to be interceding on his behalf for Grumpy Gramp's sake, but he is also not worthy of her love.

Re: Vero's comment about raising kids - beyond the "unconsummated marriage" point, what I couldn't believe is that Vero is even contemplating the possibility of raising kids in Mina Escondida. Did she forget she told her friend at work (what's his name, who is also Emi's friend, I can never remember his name) that she was merely taking a "sabbatical year off" and was by no means retiring from work. Now she thinks she will be living in Mina Escondida permanently and raising kids there with a dude who won't even make love to her. QTH?!

I have another, more general, comment about the writing on this novela. Basically, I have to make a retraction, because I asserted on more than one occasion in my comments from the past month that Ximena Suarez was the only writer on this novela, at least until she abandoned ship mid-way through production to go back to work for Jose Alberto Castro, since she was only temporarily on loan to Mejia.

The credits do identify Ximena Suarez as the head writer, but they also identify two other female writers as "co-adaptors". It has become painfully obvious to me that Ximena Suarez only worked on the Martin-Veronica storyline (which in its first part is based on La Mentira), and that the co-adaptors were left in charge of blending in the Ana Perla-Pablo storyline, which is completely based on a second Caridad Bravo Adams novela that was never produced for television - could it be because it was too boring?! Whatever legitimate complaints anyone may have about the "misplaced vengeance" plotline itself, I think most would agree that the scenes and dialogues in Martin-Vero scenes are fresh and well-written, as is generally the case with Ms. Suarez's writing. By contrast, the scenes and dialogues in the Ana Perla-Pablo storyline are stale and antiquated, suggesting that the co-adaptors follow the "Carlos Romero School of Scriptwriting" Method of merely cutting and pasting old stories into modern settings, without bothering to update them.

As we already know, the second part of the Martin-Veronica storyline is planned to be based on a third Caridad Bravo Adams novela that will be adapted by the two new male writers that Mejia hired to replace Ximena Suarez. Beyond the changes in the plot itself, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that these two writers will have the good sense to continue writing in the style of Ximena Suarez and will not resort to Carlos Romero's "cut and paste" method.

Sociopath...does not care about or folliw the social rules for his/her social group or culture. Psychopath does not care about or abide by any rules concerning anything. Humans, animals, environment, etc. Manual is it seems a Socio headed toward Psycho.

@Vilma - in both Mexico and the U.S., Lo Imperdonable and Amores Con Trampa keep alternating in first and second place. But that is not saying much.

In Mexico, both hover in the "18 ratings points range", typically only tenths of a point away from each other. Yet media have gone out of their way to paint Lo Imperdonable as a failure because it is in the primest of prime time - the 9:30 pm timeslot - and because novelas in that timeslot typically get high 20s/low 30s ratings point (unless, of course, they are Mejia productions like La Tempestad or Triunfo Del Amor).

In the USA, the ratings numbers I see focus more on the raw number of people watching. Again, LI and ACT are usually a few thousand viewers away from each other. Both tend to hover in the 2 1/2 million viewer range each night. Not bad for novelas, but just consider that only three years ago La Que No Podia Amar routinely had 4 to 5 million viewers on Univision each night, it's finale had almost 10 viewers, and it routinely made the "top 10 shows on TV" lists (including English-language competition, not just Spanish).

It's a really sad state of affairs for novelas in both Mexico and the U.S.

Gringo. Er Mr. Gringo excuse me good points about Manual the stabber. What I found enlightening was that the timid little painter whopped him in the face. Good for Pablo.

But I have bad news for Pablo. When he finally wins AP over and they DO consummate their love and he discovers razors are not alli2rd in Grampa Perverts house he is going to run screaming back to his baldi city girl.

I don't think it's strange that magda doesn't recognize veronica. I do think she feels a connection, and she probably don't even realize why she is feeling it. That hug was very telling. Some children don't keep their features after they become adults. Sometimes they grow up and look like someone else in the family. But there are suttle resemblances. The arm rubbing thing. Something simple she hasn't even noticed yet. And there is the situation for effect, this Is tv after all. Enjoy the fun, and get frustrated along the way.

I may be too late to comment on this recap, but it was so fantastic I couldn’t help it. So if I’m doing it just for me, so be it. I also haven’t gotten to read the comments yet so please forgive me if I’m repeating what others said!

I would love to quote my favorite parts of this but would end up just copying and pasting the entire thing. It was perfect!

I am also TOTALLY team Julio.

So this one I have to quote: “ The kids (hahahahaha) go to a really lame club where Virginia tells Mariana that Claudia is just a common gold digger.” Very funny… and Virginia would be…. An uncommon gold digger?

Thanks again,
Rebecca

I think Jorge smells a rat with Vsnake. He set her up with an honest cardiologist of HIS choosing and she wriggled out of it by being at Lunch with the Emu and missed it.

Now Jorge is sending her Dr. Daniel to Many Escandildo and trying to set her up for yet another second opinion while Dr. Danny is out of town looking in on CrazyMarty.

Dr. Dan might find a new love interest in that Escandida, I don't think thats the correct way to pronouce that place where the gold mines are. He could get with nancy, she'd make him forget all about ginny girl. Wouldn't It be surprising if dr.dan turned out to be botels son?
I'm Just imagining different stuff that could happen. Wish would happen.

It's late, to bed I go. Nighty night people:-)

@LatinInMD Thank you so much...Eli I loved the recap.
Can't Vero pack her bags and leave.I have to admit am sick and tired of Pablo/AP storyline....I love Ginny.I wonder if SS is comfortable playing a Joven.Mejía could have given him Jorge role.

But the BIG question is whether Jorge will live to find out who the real Virginia really is before she pulls a Peralta & offs him ?
