I have only watched one telenovela before this- the great and incredibly campy 'Reina de Corazones.' I really hope Telemundo doesn't do what it did with that show, and start carving it up to reduce the number of episodes. This is a spiders web, and anything removed could seriously affect comprehension!

Tierra. Whoa--ho! Ordinary plot developments last night (though I liked the way Fernández stood up to Cayetana and told her what's what), but evidently tonight we are going to find out who is that man Valverde has had locked up in a dungeon in Mexico--at least according to the preview, though who knows how long they'll tease us. Now I'm wishing I had seen this tn from the beginning, because I don't know if we've ever seen the (identifiable) corpse of either the Gallardo or the del Junco patriarch. If not, this is either the Gallardos' father, and he will reclaim his ranch from Valverde, marry Soledad, and they'll have a long happy life together, or it's the del Junco's father, and Cayetana's wedding to Leonardo is suddenly moot. Either way, very exciting!

I thought the acting from Tifon last night was really great. Carminha too.
Why does Alexia keep sleeping with Carlitos? That guy must be good!
Ivana's re-gifted fondue set was hilarious. I really like MonaLisa, I hope she and Tifon end up together.

@Wee Rita, Telemundo will not cut it, I have no way of being certain except it is a rerunning it again because the ratings were every high the first time. As for Tifon and Carminha, let's just say he is way too naive and good-hearted to see the forest for the tree. Carminha is great at what she does. I laughed last night when she said Deborah wasn't "nice" to her, lol. Nice? She practically bit your head off Carminha.

Tierra. Now that I think about it, that so-called "bachelor party" for Leonardo was kind of pathetic. Most guys, even if they have their party in a bar or strip club, are surrounded by their friends, male relatives and coworkers. What does Leonardo have? 2 prostitutes for a threesome. Ew. I doubt that he has enough friends for a real bachelor party.

Is anyone else having trouble with commenting? Maybe it's just my eyes, but I find many of those little pictures hard to see.

Tierra. No, no trouble. I'm signed in to the Google Account as SpanProf and usually I just have to check the box that I'm not a robot. If I'm not using my computer, I have to sign in and the site holds my comment until I'm signed in so that I have to click twice.

Sr Del J is for sure dead but Sr Gallardo? We've seen his grave but if anybody saw the body it'd have to be Nestor

I speculated before the guy in the cell was Sr Gallardo
but he could also be Isadora's real father

Hopefully they actually will tell us

Tierra. Well, now we know--it's the Gallardos' father in the dungeon. Now, is Valverde going to kill him because the guard wants to raise his babysitting rates or will there be some sort of miraculous rescue? If the latter, my guess would be either Isadora or Fernandez--as each has her/his own reasons for wrecking Emilio's plans. Should be interesting. He may even manage to save himself.
 

Tierra. If Leonardo wants to carry out his evil plans--at least without being arrested for it--he might consider keeping his mouth shut. I think Miranda is about the 3rd person who has overheard at least a part of his boasting about what he's about to do!

The reveal was pretty surprising - I didn't really expect it to be Sr Gallardo, I was expecting it to be Isadora's real papa - though I would like to offer a crackpot theory that Sr Gallardo *is* Isadora's real papa

Its a problematic theory I know - that would mean that Sole wasn't the only woman he cheated with
and it would mean that Art and Isadora are half sibs - which would actually explain Art's revulsion to the idea of gettin' busy w/her - its like la llamada de sangre - he doesn't *know* they're sibs but he feels it in his blood - or something

Anyway half the fun of these tns is making crazy guesses
when they're right its fun and when they're wrong its still fun

How did Nestor not know that Sr. Gallardo wasn't really dead? I thought he was supposed to have died in an accident locally, and Nestor was both a police officer and a friend of his, wasn't he? How did that slip through the cracks?

I would be a great telenovela zing if he DID turn out to be Isadora's real father as well. SO barfy, all her smooching on Arturo. Hey, maybe he's also Rocio's dad and she and Vero are sisters!

I hope Leo suffers a long and painful death from venereal disease in a really bad prison.

I don't see the point of Edward, unless he's Dario's happily ever after.
 

Tierra. Dario's happily ever after would solve a lot of problems.:) Nestor seems to suspect that Valverde killed Gallardo but to believe he's dead. And it looks as if Jose Antonio Gallardo is going to save himself. Credit where it's due--the writers did a pretty good job of setting up Gallardo's offer to the jailer. First the jailer demanded a higher % of the gunrunning profits, then Valverde threatened him with finding another distributor, so that when Gallardo came up with his $2 million offer, scruffy jailor was psychologically ready to be receptive. Also, Gallardo's line about jailor always going to be wondering if he'd passed up a financial opportunity if he shot G. was a nice touch. One can see where Samuel got his brains. Been thinking about Soledad. Though Gallardo is in bad shape, she is so saintly and self-sacrificing that she'll love to look after him.
 

Tierra. Remember how Miranda said that Dario couldn't have his inheritance unless and until he got married? Given the recent Supreme Court decision, now he could--even in Texas.
 

Tierra. Sneaky and Julia: If Isadora BELIEVES that the man in the dungeon could be her father, chances are she'll show up in Mexico.

I would think that Ulises being your husband's best man and Patricia being his pick for the entertainment (not to mention the absence of all your kids) at your wedding might signal a rocky road ahead, especially when Leo told Néstor that when it comes to del Junco business, talk to him from now on. Did anyone bring presents?

hmm, wasn't Sofia hanging around because Cayetana was going to arrange a nice wedding for them, but they wanted it in like a week, then later her wedding was going to be in a week, then we had a 2 week time jump, so when are Sofia and Arturo getting married? and when is someone going to bend up Arturito's hat?

so that is Guillermo Quintanilla under all of that hair playing José Antonio Gallardo, wow! and so after being in a cage for what ?? 4 years, he finally remembers his kids and decides to escape, oh, and he doesn't know anything about Veronica, poor Alma always getting a back seat to her look-a-like half sister, say isn't this story about solving her death?

Loved Néstor's comeback though, that he expected to be interrogating Leo fairly soon. :) And did it seem to you that Cayetana perked up a bit when Fernández asked her if she'd been expecting that "Graduate"-style wedding-interruption/elopement with him instead fantasy?Re Alma: That's one of the bad things about being dead--the world goes on without you.

Ok, so now we know that Valverde locked up Jose Antonio Gallardo because he found out JA had infiltrated his organization, and we know the name of Isadora's real papa; Vicente Ortiz - but its not impossible for them to be the same person
Vicente Ortiz could have been JA's undercover name - it could happen

Anybody want to take bets on how long the girls can keep Irina's pregnancy a secret?
It shouldn't be too long till our favorite cavernicula figures it out - even he's not that dense, and if the girls keep reacting to giving Irina a beer like last night and if Irina keeps running out of the room every time there's food, if the penny doesn't drop for Flavio it will for one of the other boys.
And then Flavio will be even more controlling and caveman-like ungh I don't blame Irina for not telling
 

Tierra. Hi, Sneaky! The guys' obtuseness is pretty funny though. Of course, Irina's supposed reason for not telling is because she needs to stay at the Rancho del Junco to help protect her mother, which may not be necessary much longer. If she's smart, though, she won't move in with Flavio full-time until he agrees to join the 21st century and stop being so controlling--something most of his male relatives and friends have already told him.

Ok so this is a holiday weekend and I don't know if anybody will actually read this recap, but this show won't be around for much longer so I won't have many more chances to recap
So here goes

On Thursday we learned that Valverde killed JAG's wife in front of him and then put her in a car w/a handy corpse he had laying around and faked a fatal and fiery car crash and that's why everybody thought JA was dead 10 yrs ago
Also Edward seems really into Cande so there go our plans for him and Dario
There was a brief scare about Art being missing but he was just buying a guitar so he could serenade everone w/ the themesong
Hawt lovin x3 or is that x6
Leo had a plan to get rid of Art but when his henchie called to let him know the operation was a go Caye answered the phone so Leo had to call everything off (he should grow his mustache out so he can twirl it - since 'curses foiled again' seems to be his catchphrase)
Valverde has a sinister plan to destroy the boys using the bank

Friday
Rancho Del Junco
Andrea and Sam get engaged and everybody celebrates that and also Cayetana being gone and therefore unable to rain on any parades

Pati gets a sparkly necklace, but she may not be quite the social queen she thinks she now is after singing at Caye's wedding- Also Caye may not be as much Pati's bff as Pati thinks she now is.

Linda complains to her tio about Vero not letting her join the spa for beautifying treatments or something, just 'cause she's Isadora's cousin. Valverde will tell them they can't treat him -er her like that, he has some pull at the spa

Linda meets a bewigged Isadora (who looks just the same as always only blonde) in a sleazy club that right then gets raided by the cops led by Nestor. Linda is panic attack scared of getting arrested, but Isadora keeps her head and eyes some guy as part of her cunning plan to escape without drawing the attention of Nestor who says nobody's leaving till they search everyone/everywhere
Linda pretends to Nestor to be comfortable in places like this and says she came in w/the guy Isadora was eying. Nestor is unconvinced and asks to see the guy's ID - when it checks out he still won't let Linda go even though Isadora is nowhere in evidence!

Edward and Dario are hanging out at El P together again and are wierded out by Pati & Matamoros' passion for ea other, they say its not normal for married people. Edward is determined to get Cande - he *will* have her! The more Cande shuts him down the more he wants her! Ed and Dario go over to talk to Cande and Pati, who have been talking about Ed's propositioning Cande last night. Dario takes Pati off to dance, and Ed apologizes to Cande who gives him one more chance - but no funny business!

part 2
Roger is nervous about returning to El P Valverde says don't worry, you're with me, but Matamoros puts a gun to Roger's head anyway and tells him he's a dead traitor.
Pati tries to intercede for Roger reminding Matamoros that if Roger hadn't done what he did they wouldn't be together now, but Matamoros doesn't seem appeased
Valverde sends Pati away to mediate in his own special way and whatever he says seems to work - sort of - Matamoros puts the gun down, but tells Valverde not to bring Roger with him the next time he comes over
They start to talk business but Isadora interrupts. Valverde isn't pleased to see his hija - says she shouldn't have come back into the country. Isadora says she needs to talk to him. Roger suggests they are drawing attention and should move it to the office, so off to the office they head.
Valverde and Isadora argue and I spaced most of it but Isadora ends up telling him she knows he's not her real daddy and she hates what he did to her life - she tells the whole story - her father was his partner till he killed him and took his $$, her mom wasn't crazy till he took her newborn baby and had her committed. Valverde admits it all and even gloats that he punished her parents by making her is tool in his dirty business. Isadora reacts violently


Vero arrives at R Del J and Sole gets more sad eyed than usual when Vero doesn't greet her. DF tries to make peace between them trying to explain Sole's predicament and Sole gets real uncomfortable and tries to leave but faints instead
They send for the ambulance and DF reminds Vero Sole doesn't have all the time in the world to wait for her forgiveness.
They're still waiting for the ambulance when the phone rings and DF tells Flavio to answer it since it might be the ambulance (because why?)
Its Caye and she is pissed that Flavio is in her house (looks like someone is coming home early from her wedding trip to drive off the riffraff)
Leo takes the phone and takes over the situation, threatening to have the new foreman guy throw him off the ranch, Flavio dares him to do his worst, then Irina takes the phone and does basically the same (these two are made for ea other)
The hands come in to throw out los Gallardos, but the girls assert their rights as part owners of the ranch and tell the new foreman off
Upstairs Vero sends the EMTs on their merry and explains for our benefit that Sole had that TN classic - a sudden drop in blood pressure that made her faint.
Sole says she's glad this happened to her since now she knows Vero really does care about her. Vero says of course I care but I was mad and hurt. Sole says she had every right to be. They make up w/a hug.
The boys decide not to interrupt Vero & Sole since they might be making up then go right upstairs and interrupt but Vero and Sole don't get mad - family hug

Cabrera tries to win Rocio over again and just as things get physical Pablo walks in - awkward explanations/lies ensue
Cabrera is a total gentleman and takes the blame for everthing and covers for Rocio, he apologizes for coming on to Pablo's novia without any encouragement from her.
Rocio and Pablo fight about this too and then Pablo says the only reason we're together is for the baby and walks out. Nieves tells Rocio to tell him already before the roof falls in on her for lying so much

Cabrera explains to the boys and girls that if Isadora doesn't show up soon they won't be able to justify the police guard for much longer

JA is digging up his treasure - he hits the box! When the other guy comes over w/a pickaxe JA has a gun and warns him against making any false moves!

Is there really a real treasure? Will JA shoot his jailer? Is being that into(like Pati and Matamoros are now) the person you're married to normal? Is there any chance for Edward and Dario? (maybe he's just really confused?)

plus I'm starting to snooze through some of the details, did Jose say he was chained up for 10 years (not the short 4, I mentioned earlier) that's a long time to go without a bathroom.

good thing they cleaned him up so he looks like his old photos, (was that the bad guys personal hairdresser that keeps his hair wave lookin' good)

I think Pati's master plan is to schmooze up to Cayetana so she can hang out at the ranch and keep an eye on Samuel.

and here I thought Edward came back to be with Vero, (separate bedrooms this time?), don't they have any sleazy bars in England?

and I guess Horatio has found a girl, Horatio who?

I keep waiting for someone to let slip to inspector Cabrera that Rocio is pregnant (not), apparently this detail is only important to Pablo.

and Rocio being almost a trained nurse caring for the General is left to her drama, while all wait for the EMT's, and wasn't Sofia a veterinarian in another life, and here I'm thinking how did Soledad get pregnant?

hmm, so Isadora isn't related to Valverde, so she didn't inherit her evil from him, and her mother isn't crazy, so she didn't inherit her insanity from her...

so did Nestor raid that sex club, or whatever it was, looking for Isadora, she left the country and came back before anyone knew she was gone?

 

Tierra. I thought the hairdresser/criminal was a nice touch too. I think maybe that huge tub toward the front of Jose Antonio Gallardo's cell might have been his bathroom. (ew). Either Pablo or Rocio did say something about Rocio's being pregnant, which is when Cabrera really backed off. He seems to be such a gentleman; Rocio is an idiot to let him go. What do you want to bet that she will end up pregnant from her 1-night stand with Cabrera? 2 Predictions for the last episode or 2: (1) There will be a huge double wedding of Arturo and Sofia and Samuel and Andrea; (2) Wimpy-seeming little Linda Valverde will take over the Valverde criminal empire. And yeah, Edward has disqualified himself from a relationship with Veronica or any of the nicer female characters--including Candela.
 

deb, I tend to FF a lot but I'm pretty sure Horacio is Dario's brother, the one Andrea dated earlier in the story. I'm thinking the whole "He found a girl" thing is their way of telling us not to expect the character to come back to make trouble for Andrea and Samuel.
