Que Te Perdone Dios #117 – Revelations, Slaps and Fists, No Anvils Yet

Refry: Diego makes himself a third wheel at Mateo and Abi’s lake encounter. Diego accuses Mat of aprovechándose de ella, which could mean forcing himself on her or just taking advantage of the circumstances, which I suppose would be her willingness and desire to be with him. They start hitting each other.

Toño is still pointing the gun at Daddy Julio, who tents his fingers calmly and waits out Toño’s rant about taking advantage of the spinsters. Then, without so much as wrinkling his blue, three-piece, pinstriped suit, he delivers a masterful beatdown of Toño, to Toño. The son has not yet surpassed the father, that’s for sure, and Lucio turns in his grave at the sorry antics of 2.0. Toño has had this coming. Not necessarily from Julio, but Toño had it coming for a long time now.

Abi and Mat leave Diego, but Abi can’t leave well enough alone and has to go back. Diego whines for a while, and finally Abi says, “You cancelled our wedding, left me at the altar, and have now married somebody else. It’s over for us.” Diego gets hung up on the fact that she said she loved him, as if that ever mattered before.

Toño pitifully stumbles out into the street. Lucio could take bullets to the chest and get around better than his mini-me after just an old-fashioned whoopin’.

Diego has started up again, pitying himself because Mateo had all the opportunities, like money and education. Diego seems to think he should get Abi as a consolation prize. Abi, get out of there! There’s trying to let him down easy, and then there’s enabling this wallow-fest.

Ren lies in wait inside Mac’s house. Mac enters and Ren wants to know why Mac tried to sell Abi and why she lied about Fausto being Abi’s dad. She slaps the crap out of Mac for good measure, and I thought for sure Mac would call her on the fake blindness, but it passes. Mac dredges up some ancient history and manages to play on Ren’s “losing Abi” fears as she explains why she told Abi that Fausto was her daddy.

Abi and Mat have made their get-away, and have combed all the grass and cenote dirt out of their hair as they stroll in downtown Ciudad del Valle or somewhere. Abi wants Mat to go back and apologize to Diego. Goodness gracious, leave it alone, girl! Help Diego preserve some shred of dignity. Then they see Toño stumbling around and rush to him.

La Black Hand is making the wire transfers, and calls Julio with an update. They will meet at the airport. The Hand says in an offhand manner that Julio better not rip him off like in Colombia. Then he hangs up, and Fausto and Diana come in. Hand says, “I’ve got everything in hand. He has no idea we’re ripping him off.” OMG! That is so underhanded! He is biting the hand that feeds him. I gotta give that guy a hand for deviousness.

At the clínica, Mateo, Abi and Padre Tomás pressure Toño to press charges against whomever beat him up. Then the Padre makes an emotional plea for Toño to turn back to the good side. Toño says no, but is obviously moved, nonetheless. Note to Mat: yes, it is possible to be quite emotional, sincere and intense without the over-the-top emoting that you are so fond of, and go crazy with later in this episode.

Several police cars, sirens blaring, come for Julio Acosta at his house. He watches the action bemusedly from a safe vantage point outside, although I don’t think there’s enough tree cover to hide his colorful suit, considering how close he is. Considering he knew the cops would be coming and he’s completely unfazed, does he know about The Hand’s betrayal, too? And that the girls will soon know about Him? Does he have a back-up plan? That would be kind of cool, to see him outsmart everybody.

At The Cantina, the black-and-white-cow-jacketed Fausto and Toño meet up. Fausto has a job for 2.0: get rid of the priest! Toño cara de impactado.

Barragan has made his way to the Married Spinsters house, informing them of an estafador prófugo de la justicia that has made his way into town. They don’t get at first that it is their husband, Julian Montero. Once they do, and both claim him as husband, a slapfest ensues. Barragan has to break it up, and give them some straight talk: “He tricked you both and stole all your money.” They both fall to the couch, looking ill and needing air.

Ximena prepares for Padre Tomás to visit. She makes two cups of coffee, black for her and Ecstasy for him. He shows up with The Phantom’s ashes and tries to make a quick exit, but Ximena says a priest can’t deny her a word of comfort. He relents. He is wearing priestly, well-fitting black slacks and a belt for this occasion, rather than his shapeless frock. He takes a drink of the drugged coffee and we see no more of them this episode.

Helena lays her grandson down, and Mat comes in. He launches into full scale emoting against Diego. Helena says to cool down, because, well, I’m just going to have to tell you, Diego is your brother! She fills Mat in on how Fausto dumped her and already had another pregnant mami, Diego’s mom. Mat figures out that would make him and Diego bros, and he is so gob-smacked that at first only his face can emote, sans palabras. But then the words catch up and there he goes again. I do feel for him, though. He is having to take in very quickly what we have been living with for months. Now he gives some straight talk to Helena when he says, “We are paying for your sins. You have played with our lives. We have made decisions that have cost us based on the lies you have told us.” He speaks on behalf of himself, Diego and Abi, and condemns Helena, Ren and Fausto. ¿Qué han hecho de nosotros?

Mat continues. He lets Helena know he could never hate her. He is just disappointed. He is aware that she has been a devoted mother. Because he loves her, that’s why it hurts. Then he reflects that he has lived like a prince, and Diego like a pauper. “I have taken everything that Diego couldn’t have, now I’ve taken the woman  he loves.” Yeah, she is just a chattel after all, no will of her own. Please don’t let this degenerate into Mat walking away, and “giving” Abi to Diego out of guilt. And Mat, please don’t wear those orange pants anymore. Thanks.

Final scene: Ren and Abi chat. They promise that as of tonight, no more lies. Abi starts, and confesses that she spent all day with Mat and they are engaged. Now it’s Ren’s turn and Abi waits expectantly. “I confess that the day of your wedding will be the happiest day of my life, because I will see you dressed as a bride. See you. SEE. You.” Abi realizes Ren is no longer blind and they embrace. Way to dodge the “I’m your mother” bullet, Ren!

Thank you for the recap, TN.

Ugh! I've had it with Renata and her not-so-secret secrets. The perfect moment for her to come clean and she just goes, "I will be able to SEE you." So ABI's wedding day will be the happiest day of RENATA's life ... selfish much?

Thanks TN4Ever and am I the only one who was rooting for Julian this episode? I know he deserved it but I was glad that he teached Fake Lucio 2.0 a lesson in martial arts! Where did Julian teach himself of all this? A frad and a martial artist together can be a deadly combination! Of course Fausto was behind the betrayal as usual. I cannot await Julians vengeance cause the sisters are getting to me ( Note that i liked them first but then they just went downhill.)

The slapfest was quite hilarious. Diego is too pitiful to watch now, I just cannot get to root for him anymore. I shuddered when Tono was ordered to kill the Padre. It's like the story of Lucio is repeating once again but with different twists.

TN4ever- Fabulous recap! Loved your snarky take on the all the crazy happenings.

Poor, gullible Padre Tomas. This will not end well.

Tono learned that dressing in Lucio's clothes does not make him invincible. Julio certainly taught him a lesson. Now the question is, will he actually follow Fausto's orders to kill Tomas?

Countx- I am also tired of Fausto being the mastermind behind EVERY SINGLE plot and nefarious deed. How and when did he turn the Hand to his side, AND enlist Diana? I don't like Julio, but I also hope he beats all of them (including the stupid sisters) and gets to escape with the money.

I can't even talk about how angry I am with Renata, dodging telling the truth again. Ugh!

TN4ever - Thanks for the recap.

The lies of the characters flow like a waterfall; truth is like a slow leaking spigot. Only one more week. But I have enjoyed the whole TN.

Thank you TN4ever I loved your recap as I always do but two lines really stood out and made me laugh.---Julio hiding out from the cops but not enough tree cover to hide his colorful suit.---Mat, please don't wear those orange pants anymore. Those lines were soooo funny. But I have to ask what's with all of these colors from the wardrobe department?

TN4ever---So true. Lucio can/could do more with a bullet in the chest than his young not so good understudy. Tono had the gun but Julian really taught him a lesson

Countx---Diego to pitiful to watch now? I agree that he's a real mess but his acting blew me away last night. The hurt in his eyes and all over his face was pure perfection. He blew me away. I'm in awe of some of these actors. I can't even begin
to imagine myself doing that.

Is Renata going to wait for the last ten minutes of the last episode to come clean with Abi? Grrrrrr!!!

Wouldn't it be something if Julian takes out Fausto? I don't know but wouldn't that be a surprise?

the gringo

Thanks TN4EVER I'm sure going to miss your recaps. Thank you and everyone for all your hard work.

Where will we all go next?
