Comments:
Tierra. A very sweet episode! More commentary possibly in the morning!

Tierra. After seeing Arturo's super-sensitive comforting of Sofia when she became upset about Cayetana's being at her wedding, and when he accompanied her to the del Junco ranch to try to convince Caye to come to the reception, I have to say I'll bet most of the women in the audience were saying to themselves: "I wish I had a husband like that." And at least by the time the 3 of them were through talking, it almost seemed as if Caye was coming around a little bit--but if the previews of tonight's episode are to be believed, it won't last. The interaction between Lt. Cabrera and Rocío was also sweet. The only person at the wedding who wasn't acting sweet was Samuel, in his sort of contrived bit of jealousy with Edward. He did shape up, though, after Andrea chastised him, and he and Edward both apologized to each other. Isadora is obviously getting even crazier. For a moment there it looked as if she and Leonardo would kill each other, but, alas, just another telenovela tease. :) Once again, Nieves was very good and very sensible in her advice to Cayetana that Leo is not always right.

Tierra. Caye's not being at her wedding, that is.

Tierra. Did anyone else think that having Rocío as the only person in the kitchen preparing a big wedding reception was a little weird? Didn't they hire extra help to prepare and serve the champagne, hors d'oeuvres, etc.?

Tierra-SpanProf

It didn't register with me, but you're right. That was pretty strange.

Every tiime that I get hope for Caye she disappoints me. However, I'm pretty sure that she'll come around in the end.

AnonGringa

Tierra. Loved the dancing at the wedding! Among other dances, a Mexican hat dance with Arturo's hat, no less--though his nice black dress cowboy hat rather than the everyday one!

AVENIDA BRASIL

So, I'm just back from a two week vacation and catching up on week screened July6th onward. From reading the original recaps , it is obvious that Telemundo are now chopping whole sequences out. Argh! They did this with Reina de Corazones last summer, to the point where it was virtually Incomprehensible. Such an insult to the writers, actors and really everyone involved in the production.

~ Wee Rita

Tierra. Did it seem to anyone else that in the final scene when Leonardo was trying to attack Irina that the actor playing Leo was having a hard time keeping a straight face? And it seems as if Edward may really love Candela; her song at Sofi's wedding was infinitely more tasteful that Pati's at Cayetana's. She may seem self-conscious about being a cabaret singer and dancer but she is every inch the lady. Leonardo was exceptionally creepy when he made Nieves kneel down and apologize to him and then fired her anyway--but I was afraid he was going to rape her. With the firing of most of the employees he is overreaching to the point of being self-destructive. And nice touch of Fernandez et al arresting Linda Valverde--she really is an accomplice before the fact to Isadora's mass shooting at the church and has been aiding a fugitive since. Interesting to hear rights "read" in Spanish--it looks as if Jose Antonio has just gone back to his old job. Did Rocio's aunt do more harm than good in confronting Lt. Cabrera?

Tierra. That's accessory before the fact--a little code-switching there.

Tierra. So cute that Sofi and Arturo took little Arturito along on the honeymoon. I expect that some of their interactions--like preventing him from climbing over the back of the couch--may have been unscripted, and Arturo's, "no, it's not a horse, son" possibly ad-libbed.

Tierra

love your comments SpanProf!

I don't know how many times I thought the girls had had enough and left the del Junco ranch for good, only to see them back again in the next scene. Didn't Caye throw them out last night, ahora mismo, only to see Andrea in the office the next day, and Irina in the stables.

I'm thinking Leo is trying to settle a score with the dead Ignacio, by turning the del Junco ranch into powder and ashes, is that what he said?

Is Arturo really spending his honeymoon inside a hotel room in downtown LA?

how long before we see the General come crawling out of the house trying to get away from a crazed Matilde.

even by Caye's standards, she won't be able to forgive herself, once she knows, I wonder how will she try to make things right?

so what's happening with Juanita? they didn't even invite her to the wedding.

Tierra. Thanks, Deb! Since the girls are half owners of the del Junco ranch by the terms of their fathers' will, Caye has no legal right to kick them out, though that should have been made clearer in last night's episode. Leo did say he was trying to settle a score with the dead Ignacio and destroy the ranch, though in the process of course enrich himself--I guess embezzlement and horse-race fixing just weren't working fast enough. My guess would be that the honeymoon hotel is somewhere near the beach, given the view from the window, but I suspect it was more likely to have been filmed in Florida than LA. Juanita is still in the mental hospital, and I hope not in danger, but given that she knows Julia was murdered, probably so. I forgot to mention that I thought Candela's dress was also very tasteful, especially compared to the one Pati wore to Caye's wedding.

Tierra

ah yes, Ignacio's will,

did Ulises ask Leo if he was going to kill Cayetana, (was there a clause where the ranch would then go to the daughters), not an option, so he needs her to sign over the power to run the place, and so he could then sell it and keep the money, right? (if Isadora doesn't botch everything first)

Ulises was so amazed at Leo's cleverness, he was almost drooling.

but it did sound like he was tiring of Patricia.

Avenida,

Ha!

did Paloma toss the wedding rings to a homeless guy, while she beat feet out of the church with Carlitos close behind?

Tierra. Deb: Yes, that is the current plan, which he shared with Ulises. Sigh of relief that Cayetana's life is no longer in danger. Though good luck with getting her to sign anything!

Avenida: @ deb yes she did, that brat @ wee Rita, yes the scissors are out in force. So annoying, good thing it is my second run at this show.
Romy

Avenida,

did Roni say he was gay, or maybe just to deter people thinking he was,
as to why he wanted to marry Suelen.

Avenida: He said the guys in El Divino are saying he is so the marriage will help dispel that notion. In my opinion, he can't verbalize it but yes he probably is.
Romy

AVENIDA BRASIL

Ugh! The Telemundo scissors are so annoying. If they're going to cut anything, why not make it the Carlitos/Alexia etc storyline? Who cares at this point?

~ Wee Rita

Tierra. Another miraculous escape by Isadora!

Tierra
SpanProf it looks like you're right. Cayetana won't be signing anything over.....willingly that is. But at gunpoint is another thing.

Yes, it was good that Arturo caught the baby before he could crawl over the couch. It was also a good catch the other day when the actress playing Sofia stopped the baby before he could put one of those rose petals on her bed in his mouth.

Tierra. Britishcomedyfan: One of the more fun things about this tn is that the baby/actor is more visible and seems to be a little less under control than in most tv shows and movies. I wonder if Leo would have gone through with his sexual assault on Irina even if Eleazar hadn't shown up. A sexual assault means a 911 call, dna evidence, and the police looking into Leonardo's activities in a lot more detail than they are now. Given that his whole motivation seems to have been to drive Irina out, maybe he would have stopped. As it is, she was certainly shaken up enough to leave. It will be interesting to see what Caye's reaction will be to seeing Leo and Isadora having sex, but judging from the previews of tonight's episode, she doesn't leave or get help quickly enough.

Tierra. Oh, and did I forget to mention that if Leonardo had been "successful" with Irina that either don Felipe or Flavio would have killed him? As it was, in the confrontation between Leo and the 2 Gallardo brothers not on a honeymoon, Leo might have been sorry that he had fired all but 4 of his cowhands.

Tierra,

ah yes, Isadora got away, but I'm getting used to that one, where the good guys come in the front door and the bad guys run out the back, be a while before the good guys figure that one out.

and so is Jose A crazy after being chained up for 10 years without a bathroom, of course not, he didn't have any bullets in his gun.

so the bad guy they caught was involved in Ignacio's death?

once again Irina gets the boot, hoy mismo, about time she considered living with her husband, this is getting even more scary for Andrea and the General, at least he was able to find Lola, his trusty pistol, and that Matilde, I'll bet if anyone did a background check they would find everyone she ever knew was poisoned, aren't they working on a plan to also take out Leo as well? I kind of like the part where you work for someone rich and when they are away you pretend like you own everything.

I'm sure Cayetana will buy Leo's excuse that it was just business with Isadora.

I'm glad Arturo is back because I don't think any of this can be resolved without him being the one resolving it.

Tierra. Enjoyed that don Felipe was able to "liberate" Lola, his colt 45, it looks like. Wonder if he'll have a chance to use it, possibly against Leonardo?

Tierra,

hmm, so Frederick ?? tells his banker Samuel in confidence about buying the del Junco place, but was overheard by the whole room.

Tierra. Sort of representative of the awkwardness of some of the writing and possibly of some of the condensation that is going on to finish up in 3 more episodes. I'm sure there are more subtle ways everyone could have found out about Edward's intentions.

Tierra
Looks like from the previews that the jig is up for Leonardo since Cayetana caught him with Hussydora and now he's showing his dark side by smacking her across the room and forcing her at gunpoint to sign the Power of Attorney. And if Crazydora thinks that she's going to run off with Leonardo when he gets all the money, then she fell out of the same stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down like Cayetana did when she believed Leo's lies about being with the two hookers.

I'm hoping that since the General found Lola that he'll somehow be a hero in the end. Maybe he can use her to shoot Leonardo in the crotch or shoot Matilde's nose out of the air.

Tierra,

ahha!
Edward J. Fox is his name, thanks SpanProf,
such a strange character, the rich foreigner, everyone's chump,
and yet like one of the family.

Tierra. Well, he was engaged to Verónica and his family and Miranda's family seem to have been longtime friends.

Tierra. Interesting the idea that the Tierra writers have of a "stereotypical" British nobleman.

Tierra. But then, Bear Grylls is evidently a British nobleman, so I suppose anything is possible. :)

Avenida B--

I'm back in the saddle again. It took me a long time to catch up, but what a marathon it has been. So, what's new, or isn't new: Jorgito is rejected by Rita again and is back in Debora's arms. Mama Lucinda won't tell Jorgito what he needs to know and Nilo is still being loyal to Rita. The only thing different is that Nina/Rita is playing with fire with Max. She has NO idea what he is liable to do. All she knows is he wants some nookie and she's not going to put out for him. His sliming all over her made me sick!

I think the writers have been so clever to have Carminha neurotically paranoid about Rita being close to her and wanting to destroy her family, when it's the TRUTH!

Tierra. Arturo's and Samuel's first instinct that Cayetana was in danger was right. I can't believe that everyone believed that she was actually forgiving Leonardo and selling the ranch--without even trying to find out in person if it was true. It's like one of those horror movies where the characters do the most stupid thing possible, or make the absolute wrong decision. I must say that Cayetana behaved nobly in protecting Andrea and her other daughters. I believe I've seen similar plotlines in very old movies--usually involving Jackie Cooper and Wallace Beery and sometimes giving up a puppy, or maybe Lassie. But I did feel sorry for Caye--she seems to be redeeming herself. I was very impressed with don Felipe--crawling all the way upstairs to get Lola and confront the 2 creepy evildoers.

Tierra

I almost cried when DF was struggling to get up the stairs. I remember that once before he showed tbe strength
of his arns. For some rrason, this character has really gotten to my heart. In Camellia he played an absolutely AWFUL
character. Good actor.

Speaking of acting, I thought SS and the actor playing Leo were amazing also.

AnonGringa

Tierra. Totally agree, AnonGringa. In general this is an excellent cast, and don Felipe is an incredible actor! Still, Cayetana's sacrifice reminded me a bit of a few more movie clichés, like the refugees/soldiers/minorities fleeing Nazis/Soviets/the enemy. One of them gets wounded, but somewhere the other can't see, so the wounded person is nasty to the other fleeing person to get him or her to go on on his or her own and not be captured and killed along with the already wounded person. I saw a great tearjerker from the early 30s about a blinded soldier returning from WWI who let people think he was dead because he didn't want his sweetheart to waste her life caring for him. Of course, he becomes a bestselling children's author (under a pseudonym), is very successful and self-sufficient, even wealthy. His former sweetheart is on the verge of marrying someone else (Herbert Marshall or a similar author who never gets the girl) when she somehow encounters the blind man. He is "staring" int a fire and tells her he no longer loves her, but doesn't tell her he's blind. She slowly realizes it anyway, realizes he is just being self sacrificing, and there is a tearful reunion and marriage.

Tierra. Similar actor, that is. Btw, if the del Junco daughters are part owners of the ranch, don't they have to approve its sale? Or was that covered in Ignacio's will?

I think a long post of mine about movie clichés got lost or was removed. Oh well.

Tierra. I totally agree, AnonGringa! In general the actors in Tierra are quite good, and the don Felipe character is excellent!

Tierra. It was about fleeing soldiers, refugees, etc, in which one slowing down the other(s) gets nasty to make sure that that they leave him so they aren't shot or captured because of him--the sort of self-sacrifice Caye seems to be making.

It showe up!?

Tierra- SpanProf

I had the same thought about the girls being part owners and having to approve the sale.

I couldn't believe Leo and Isa were having sex in the midst of all the suffering that they caused,
but I'm judging by my standards. For them, it's completely believable.

I also couldn't believe how "into" this silly novela I got last night. I couldn't wait for the commercials to be
over, even more than usual.

AnonGringa

Tierra. Yeah, it's both a lot of fun and gripping, with very attractive main characters, in all respects, and entertaining villains. With a little tighter control on the writing--too many inconsistencies--it would have been great! I think all the other people's suffering probably made sex more enjoyable for Isadora and Leonardo--they're that creepy as villains, and I'll bet the actors were having a lot of fun with their villainy.

Tierra. otoh, why should Cayetana be the only major character not to have been kidnapped? :) There was even an attempt against Samuel, thwarted by Andrea, I believe.

Tierra- Can't wait to see how the despicable duo meet their demise. I hope it's tonight and in the most painful, humiliating way.

AnonGringa

Tierra. Oh no! I hope Arturo doesn't die in the next episode--after all he's been through and all the good things he has done for people! But it doesn't look good.

Tierra. Well, at least don Felipe tried! I hope he and Juanita manage to get out of the "mental hospital" before they're killed. I can't wait to see that so-called hospital shut down. I'm glad Caye finally had an apotheosis, though judging by the preview, it might also be too late, and she won't be able to tell her daughters that she's sorry. Miranda very cleverly figured that something was wrong, and she did a pretty good job of not letting on she had seen the kidnapped Cayetana (though Nicholson realized anyway), but I don't understand why she didn't call 911 immediately (though maybe she did once outside, and that's why the police will arrive next episode). With all the cell phones around, you'd think the police would have had several call by now--starting with Arturo.

Tierra-SpanProf

Please don't even think of such a thing! I couldn't stand it if Arturo or any of the good
people die. I'm concerned about Caye. It would be a shame for her to die after realizing
the error of her ways. I want a happy ending for them all.

PLEASE tell me what happened with DF and the gun. I missed something. I thought he
had fired it, but then he was lying on the floor with Leo in control. That was SO
disappointing to me because I wanted him to be a hero.

AnonGringa

Tierra. He fired it, but missed, presumably because of the odd angle he was firing from, and before he could fire again, Leo overpowered him--I think he put his foot on don Felipe's arm or something--and had his henchmen carry him away. I must say, the writers may have the occasional logistical problem--in the last few episodes with the characters having perfectly operable cell phones but not using them to call the police--but they have really made me care about these characters. They are as simpaticos as any I have seen on a telenovela. I would hate to see anything happen to any but the actual villains, and particularly not to Arturo--that would be a real breach of poetic justice.

Tierra-SpanProf

Thank you for answering my question. We think alike about many things. I could never understand why the girls
didn't use their cell phones to capture Leo's infidelity, but I guess the obvious answer is that the plot would have
unfolded too quickly that way. Thank you again. AnonGringa

Tierra. And thank YOU, AnonGringa. What I can't quite understand is why Eleazar would basically point Arturo in the direction of Cayetana. Did he think that it would make it easier for him and Matilde to escape a situation that has now become too hot for them, and with the jewels?

Tierra. And in a lot of contemporary dramas, I notice that writers knock themselves out to explain how a cell phone became incapacitated so that a character couldn't call for help. I don't know why the Tierra people don't do likewise, though I suppose if it happened too many times it wouldn't be credible either. :)

AVENIDA BRASIL

Even though I'm glad Ivana and Max didn't get back together, everyone should of at least left and let them have a PRIVATE conversation about their marriage. I can see why Max is tired of everyone putting their two cents in, but he is an adulterous slimeball moocher so I guess it's a bit of karma he deserves.

I must have a memory like a sieve because I can't remember what they are cutting out from the first run. I'm not watching every episode so I guess I assumed that scenes that I don't see are episodes I'm not watching. Also the international version has less episodes than what was shown in Brazil.

I think the writers have been so clever to have Carminha neurotically paranoid about Rita being close to her and wanting to destroy her family, when it's the TRUTH!

So true. Carmina has killer instincts. I also find it funny how desperate she sounds when she's trying to convince Max to stay for his "wife".

Baja el mismo cielo

Telemundo website is showing the 1st 30 min of episode 1. I will be watching the novela. At first I thought, no more narco violence, not true, its gang violence, probably worse. However, I do think there is more to the story than raping, killing, mutilating. Gabriel Porras is a good guy in it, I think.

Tierra,

yes, for the past two days this has been like an old old novela where no one has a cell phone.

so Malkovich talked since they got him for sabotaging the plane that killed Ignacio, and he gave up Nicholson, and also Ulises and Roger as heads of the arms dealing, so they are on the run, "what about me", will probably be what Pati says.

all of the bad guys seem to have a briefcase, and was that Nicholson's that got left behind, and inside was Briggite's necklace that Nestor recognized, with the flashdrive, which let him connect the dots on her murder, as she died in a fiery auto accident.

so maybe we will get to hear what happened to Alma, maybe they are just holding back because Leo will be the last to fall.

not sure either, what Eleazar's plan is, did he make like he went down in the cellar or was he just unlocking the door, I'm thinking he was leading Arturo there where they can trap him, hmm, but Arturo told his brothers that if he isn't back in an hour to call the cops.

interesting how Flavio gave Arturo his secrets for getting into the house unseen that he was using to sneak in to see Irina.

so is Maranda still being chased by Nicholson, she did get a head start?

what a nightmare for Juanita, does anyone ever go see her anymore? did Leo ask the doc to give her a "natural" death as well?

so they plan on building 3 more houses at the Rancho Alcázar love nest, for Samuel/Andrea, Flavio/Irina, and Pablo/Veronica, I hope they don't do the block laying.

I'm curious who will get the old Gallardo place, which was probably confiscated from Valverde, Jose/Soledad? (that's the place Edward should be trying to buy rather than dealing with slimeball Leo)

Tierra. Though back when Andrea saved Samuel from a kidnapping by Ulises she couldn't call the police because her phone wasn't charged, but I guess they can't do that all the time. Leo did ask the crooked psychiatrist to also finish Juanita off by "natural" causes. Miranda does have a head start; we'll hope for the best. I hope that when the bad guys get punished that the good guys at least get out alive.

"Bajo el mismo cielo"... the cast
part 1

(this is a rough google translation, the original article is here)
http://masquetelenovelas.blogspot.com.es/2015/07/quien-es-quien-en-la-nueva-telenovela_22.html#more

(this may help us get oriented at the start, but be warned, this may contain too much information)

I was gonna pass on this one, even though Perla Farias (the creator) has a proven track record of creating totally interesting characters who together create the story, (and she is so good at putting it all together), but after reading these character descriptions, WoW, I'm hooked.

Thank you for the information, deb and Vario. I watched the first 30 minutes and it looks very good. I'm looking forward to watching it even though it will mean weekend marathons.

Thanks deb & variopinta! Now that I've seen the cast I'm really excited to see Julio Bracho....thought he was so good in the last tn I saw him in. Also excited to see Carlos Ferro and Keller Worthman again. Seems like a good cast.
