Amores con trampa #80 and #81 7/20/15 and 7/21/15

Isa breaks into Mireya’s office and takes one of the unlabeled pills followed by the eye crossing and boing boing sound effect blinking.

Later she finds the key to the file cabinet and steals Mireya’s files.

Beto interrupts Carmen while she watches her reality model program (they are eliminating contestants tonight!) Beto tells her to get gussied up. He and Feli have a plan for her to go out with Feli. Beto will tell their parents that he’s taking Carmen to the movies. Carmen thinks he’s the best brother ever. Beto wants her to remember that and not call him bad brother names anymore. Carmen tries to decide what to wear. Beto thinks something really modest is the best thing. Apparently he thinks an afghan would make a great date outfit.

Carmen tells her parents that she and Beto are going to the movies. Carmen tells Fac that she’s really sad he won’t let her go out with Feli. Fac wonders when Beto decided to start caring so much for Carmen. Carmen tries to explain that Beto just wants her to feel better and forget about Feli. Fac swears he thinks Feli is a good guy...but he doesn’t want Carmen going out with him. He’s a Velasco. Carmen finally manages to leave. Even Maria thinks Carmen is a little over covered. Maria is totally suspicious. Carmen says that’s the way Beto wanted her to dress-with not even her throat showing.

Beto and Carmen arrive at the club. I am not impressed with Carmen’s outfit when she reveals it...but I’m old and prefer pajamas to anything else. Feli seems happy that Carmen is there and offers to get her something to drink. She wants an agüita de coco. Beto doesn’t like her outfit either. It’s too revealing. When Feli compliments her outfit, Carmen plays the classic “oh this? It’s just something I threw on.” Beto and Rocio tell Carmen that they are getting married. She is wide-eyed with shock.

Fac is an idiot. You don’t really need me to tell you that, but here’s a description of the latest scene that inspired that statement. Fac is swimming and during his break he talks about “poor” Isa being all alone. He really should talk to her and keep her company and show her his support and be a good friend. Blech with a capital “B” and a dry heave. He manages to stop that train of thought and calls himself pazguato (simple, stupid...Well, at least he is self aware.) He takes note of a bikini-clad presence swimming behind him. This can’t be happening!

Unfortunately, Francisca and Diego also come to the club. of course she tries to start something with Carmen. Francisca says that this is the most exclusive club “top” in the DF and wants to know why there are some many farm types there. Carmen must have read Nanette’s comment today because she actually stops herself from getting into it with Francisca saying it’s not worth wasting her time over it. Diego makes a crack about Carmen breaking up with him to be with Felipe. Felipe stands up for her and Beto tries to get into the argument as well, but Feli tells him it’s all under control.

Estefy pulls herself up out of the pool. Where did Facundo go? She was going to tug on his leg and surprise him. He’s on another side of the pool with a PVC pipe so he can breath. Nyuk nyuk.

Isa is calling all of Mireya’s clients and telling them Mireya is unethical. Ale comes in and notices that Isa has all the CDs of Mireya’s therapy sessions, too. Isa is telling patients that Mireya doesn’t keep sessions confidential. Isa tells one patient that she knows all about his drug abuse. Ale tries to tell her mother to stop, but Isa dismisses her. Ale calls Rocio at the club.

Beto and Carmen sneak in the house, only to be caught by Maria. Maria knows Carmen was with Feli, but Carmen tells her that Francisca’s presence ruined everything. Maria reminds them that Fac will blow up if he knew about this. She almost lets it slip about Beto and Rocio. Beto tells Maria that Carmen knows. Carmen swears she won’t tell. They slip back to their rooms via secret passage.

Isa debates whether to take pills. Rocio and Feli confront her about robbing the files from Mireya’s office. Is anyone surprised Isa played the victim? “She stole everything from meeee and no one is paying attention to meeeee. I’m just not used to being alooooneee. Santi and I were together for so loooong. I’m so lonelyyyy.”

Fac sleepily walks down the hall. Estefy wants him bad. When he comes back, she lays a big ol’ kiss on him, but UH OH! It’s Porfirio! He survives the smoochies without having any cardiac issues. He thought the kiss was delicious. She pretends to be sleepwalking. Fac comes back through. They make jokes about her name (Estefany/Estermary) and Porfirio tells him about her sleepwalking and kissing.

Isa throws her shoe at the rooster. Why does she have her sleep mask around her mouth?

Susana and Jacinto gobble down breakfast. Jacinto still has time to give a discourse on the importance of eating a good breakfast. It gives you energy for the things you need to do. Conchita shoos them out. Porfirio gives them a blessing before they go. (Probably my favorite scene of the night.) Conchita goes about with her chores. She takes down the picture of the Last Supper and Porfirio flips. HE is the only person allowed to touch that picture. He yells at Conchita. She better never touch it again. She leaves. He talks to himself. That picture is sacred to him. Nobody better touch it. Hmmm. Why I wonder?

Santi arrives at work and tells a worker not to wear such a short skirt. Sexual harassment much? He makes a joke about getting rid of the “Carmona” on the “Grupo Carmona” sign. The secretaries tell him he has a visitor. It’s Mireya. She tells him about Isa’s break in and calling her patients. Santi promises to take care of it. Isa will hear from him!

At the boutique Maria talks to Rocio about the secret wedding. She’s worried that every time she brings it up, Rocio looks unhappy. If Rocio has any doubts, she needs to talk to Beto. Maria doesn’t want Rocio to leave him at the altar and hurt him. Rocio swears she has no doubts. She would never hurt Beto. She adores him. She just worries that he’s more excited than she is. She just wants time to have a courtship and enjoy themselves. All valid points. Good for her. But Beto is convinced that the only way people will stop trying to pull them apart is if they get married. Maria tells Rocio that if she is going to break Beto’s heart, she needs to do it now...not the day of the wedding. Maria even gives Rocio permission to leave work and do it right now. Rocio tells her not to worry and that Beto is not going to suffer.

Santi comes to see Isa and talk to her about her break in at Mireya’s office. Isa thinks it was an act of justice. Santi thinks what Isa did was a crime. Isa thinks what Santi did to her was a crime. Santi can’t understand how he didn’t see the true Isa before. Isa says she’s the deceived one...and she’s not talking just about his fling with Mireya. When she married him, she thought he would give her a normal life and a nice future. But look at her now! Just look at her cleaning and ruining her manicure. He says he tried to fulfill his promise and he asks her forgiveness. Isa wants to know why he even married her if he was just going to make her suffer. Santi tells her that he loved her from the moment he first saw her. He loved her even with all her defects. But she mistreated him. She kicked him and humiliated him. He was like a little puppy who just wanted to approach her and play. But she kicked him so much that she alienated him. Now all he feels for her is pity. She’s killed any love he had.

Beto is an idiot, too. He asks freaking ESTEBAN to help him and go to the Registro Civil with him. Oh wait. Viewerville is omniscient, not Beto. Beto does’t know what we know. Ok. I’ll cut him some slack. He’s not an idiot. Just a little dim.

Santi and Isa continue their discussion. He admits to having women, but he forgot all about them when he saw Isa. And he forgot all about himself. All he wanted was to love her and spoil her. But she’s just pushed him away. Now he just feels pity and anger. Isa asks him to leave. It seems real this time. He leaves. Isa whines about “mi familia.”

At the boutique Carmen tries to tell Rocio she needs to pick something special for the wedding. Rocio thinks she doesn’t need to because it’s just a civil ceremony. Maria wants them to get married in the Church as soon as possible. Rocio looked a little green at that possibility. Carmen daydreams about being the maid of honor. Beto comes in and tells them that Esteban is helping. Rocio is shocked. I remember how much she dislikes Esteban and that Beto should know that. So I go back to thinking he’s an idiot. If that’s not enough, he announces that he and Rocio will be getting married tomorrow! At noon! Because today was all booked! Idiot. That’s the kind of thing you confer with you bride on. Rocio says she’s not sure, but if Beto thinks it’s best then she is on board. She just has one request. Besides her siblings, there is one other person she wants there.

Santi goes to see Fac in his office. He’s upset about his marriage. He just can’t take it any more. Fac doesn't know what it’s like to fight with a woman like Isa. She’s so angry and adorable at the same time. It’s really hard. Fac says Santi needs to put those problems aside. Santi hates that Fac is seeing him so upset. Santi gets up and makes himself at home in Fac’s chair (smooth move, Santi. Well played.) Santi is worried about the kids living with Isa. He wants to get them away from her.

Perpetua made a mini cake for the kids (Ale, Jacinto, Susana, Andres and the red-headed twins.) They don’t think they can share it so Jacinto says they should jump for it. Who ever jumps the highest...well furthest...wins. Ale, Susana and Andres do their jumps and it ‘s all fairly marked by cups. Meanwhile, the twins ate the cake. It did look yummy.

Luckily we find out pretty quickly who Rocio’s mystery guest is. It’s Santi. He loves her so much. He asks her if she’s completely sure and she swears she is. She only asks that he not tell Fac and Isa about the wedding because they will try to stop it (I almost wonder if she purposely talked to him thinking that he would and the pressure would be off her.) Santi promises not to tell, but who cares because Hilda-heffa-mare is skulking in the hallway eavesdropping. She says she HAS to stop the wedding.

Avances: Hilda’s grandmother reads cards! Maria lies to Fac! Fac and Isa find out about the wedding and try to stop it!

Looking forward to it Sara!

My favorite scene was the younger children and the jumping contest. They always look like they are having so much fun. I wish I'd had friends like that when I was their age.

Diana

That was such a cute scene! But didn't you know the twins were up to no good? I don't really blame them. That cake looked really good.

Thank you, Sara. Your recap is wonderful. Loved the "nyuk nyuk". Made me think of the Stooges! Very "smooth move" of Santiago into his old chair.

Thoughts on a very good episode:

Beto really is really a chip off the old block: has he not been listening to what Rocío has been saying? It seems that defying Facundo is more important than Rocío's feeling pressured. María got it.

Ernesto Laguardia made the whole show for me tonight when Santiago was telling Isabel about how he felt about her. Great performance. So sad. Well written.

It was interesting that Santiago finally came to the conclusion that he might have to separate the kids from Isabel.

Cute scenes with Facundo: Facundo trying to comfort Santiago when he puts his arm around him and kisses him on the head; Facundo hiding with his PVC pipe breathing.

Granpappy Porfirio had such a beautiful smile thinking about Estefany as "la bella durmiente" "sleeping beauty". I wonder what the story is behind his "sacred" last supper picture?

Loved the twins stuffing themselves on the cake during the jumping comoetition.

Hilda was skulking once again. Doesn't anybody ever see her??? She does not fit in most of the places she skulks around.

That is all for now.

Jarifa

You're welcome, Jarifa. It was indeed a fun episode to recap.

I was very happy for Porfirio getting his kiss from Estefy.

I may have forgotten to gush over Ernesto Laguardia last week so I will have to double up this week. He was so funny as he arrogantly strolled into the office, but was just heartbreaking in his scenes with Isa.

I wondered about Hilda, too. She's sticks out and no one ever questions why she's there.

Thanks, Sara. Loved the recap.

Cant believe I'm saying this, but I want Hilda to stop the wedding. Rocio is not ready.

You're welcome, Nanette.

I will have to agree with you about this wedding. Rocío does love Beto, but she is really not ready to be married.

Well done, Sara! Perfectly detailed recap.

Loved that Stefi was foiled at every turn in her seduction plan. The kiss with Porfirio was hilarious. As long as the writers keep her away from Fac and prevent breaking Maria's heart, I'm ok with seeing Stefi fail repeatedly.

Could there be something hidden behind that last supper print? Perhaps a letter from Fac's mom?

I thought Santi told the secretary that her skirt was too short, no that it should be shorter. He's a flirt but he's not a sleeze.

Thought that conversation between Santi and Isa was heartbreaking and well done. These two could have benefited from therapy long ago. Is it too late for them?

Rocio has been saying from the beginning that she doesn't want to rush into marriage, that she thinks she and Beto should establish themselves more. He hasn't been listening. I too sort of hope that Hilda, Fac, and Isa do their work before they say their I dos. But it's not going to be pretty when Fac learns Maria lied to him. Whatever. He was thinking about poor Isa again. Shut up, Facundo.

You're welcome Vivi.

You are correct about the skirt line. I went back to listen to it because I doubted Santi would be that sleazy as well. I got distracted and never went back to fix it. When I'm near a keyboard I'll make the correction.

I've read too much Dan Brown and Javier Sierra because I tried to find some secret message in the painting itself. Lol.

Ok. I fixed the skirt bit. Thank you for catching that, Vivi.

It's sunny and warm outside which matches my rosy glow of happiness after reading your delightful, outstanding recap Sara.

"He manages to stop that train of thought and calls himself pazguato (simple, stupid...Well, at least he is self aware)" was my favorite of many. I smiled and nodded in vigorous agreement at "but I’m old and prefer pajamas to anything else". Me too! My preferred outfit of choice.

Apparently Mireya does not take care with her files and confidential information if Isa could find everything so easily. Harrumph…Go ahead Isa. Make a few more calls. That devious doctora needs to lose her license and pronto.

Very intrigued as to the mystery behind the Last Supper painting. Whatever can it be??

Ernesto is stealing the show here (sorry Eduardo, but it's true). Like everyone else, I thought his scene with Isa was so sad and very, very uncomfortably believable. And I like his continuing tenderness and caring with Rocio.

Jarifa, I laughed out loud at "Hilda was skulking once again. Doesn't anybody ever see her??? She does not fit in most of the places she skulks around". Excellent!

Nanette, I agree with you about the wedding. I think Rocio is bothered by the fact Isa and Facundo do not approve and doesn't want to get married in secret. Looks like that nitwit Hilda will ensure things get tangled up further but it is likely for the better if the marriage is delayed a bit longer.

Frantic Francis. Please. Go away. It appears you prefer Diego and now you have him. Is it your sole mission in life to make Carmen miserable? If so, you are doing a stellar job but making all of us just as unhappy in the process.

Vivi, Facundo mooning over Isa during his swim was sickening. I'm relieved Estefi didn't catch up with him - I still have high hopes for her redemption.

Sara, thank you for making today even brighter!

Diana

Vivi, I do not think it's too late for Santi and Isa.

I see them together in the end after Isa regains her "sanity" and realizes she is not the center of the universe and that her children need to come first. Santi already has a good sense of and love for his family - he needs to check his libido and get his business matters settled first.

Diana

Sara, thanks, ha ha indeed with that pazguato line. Never heard that word before.

de tal palo, tal astilla = like father, like son. Beto, please lose your learned behavior. We all have such high hopes for you.

Hilda??? From school, to country, to boutique, to office, to the Carmona's. She does just pop up out of nowhere, doesn't she. I think her aunt put a spell on her and made her invisible, because no one ever sees her, but she sees (and hears) everything.

Lola

Diana-Having you back on the patio makes my day brighter!

I hope you don't mind if I start using "Frantic Francis". It is such an apt description of her.

It's not even 10 AM here and I am already eager for tonight's episode.

It would be good if the wedding gets delayed, but I don't want anyone feeling betrayed in the process. Except for Fac and Isa. They can feel betrayed. My fear is that Rocio will think Santi squealed or that Beto will think Maria squealed. And I can just see Hilda-heffa-Mare in the corner laughing at all the chaos she stirred up.

Lola!! Howdy!!

Let me quote you: "de tal palo, tal astilla = like father, like son. Beto, please lose your learned behavior. We all have such high hopes for you."

WORD!!

As I slowly opened my eyes this morning*, Beto and Fac were on my mind. I was thinking Beto was a chip off the old Blockhead.

*(What? Don't y'all constantly think about your TNs too? No?..er...)

"blockhead" is perfect! Facundo still making excuses and feeling sorry for Isabel. Cannot wait--I seem to say this every episode--for Facundo to learn his lesson.

Sara, also I cannot wait for tonight's episode either!

Jarifa

Sara, I'm a mite concerned about the perception of snitching as well.

I'm with you in not giving a hoot about Fac or Isa, but I want Beto and Rocio's wedding to be all it could and should be - and bathed in happiness.

Lola, Hilda is indeed omnipresent. Grrrr.

I'm with Sara and Jarifa in looking forward to tonight!

Diana

I think the throw-together wedding will be caput. It's just too early for Rocio and Beto to live happily ever after. I'm still holding out for an end of tn, beautiful, happy wedding with Rocio and Beto ... always has to be a wedding at the end, right? and, I don't want it to be Maria and Facu renewing their vows. Just no.

Lola

I was surprised Carmen backed off. I think she was too happy being with Feli.

Who is it here who says “Fac is dead to me.” Well he’s dead to me, too. His chasing Isa is the reason he’s having problems with Maria and he’s still trying to find any excuse to be near her. I don’t think he’s stupid. I think it’s just hubris. And his hypocritical attitude towards Maria and Flor—well don’t they say when a marriage comes out of an affair it causes trust issues. After all, you had an affair with me, what’s to stop you having an affair on me. Fac “stole” Maria (not minimizing her part in it) from Flor—on their wedding day. I’d be running scared, too. Flor is successful, handsome and Maria’s first love. What’s to keep her from deciding he’s a better bet. And, still, Fac pants after Isa.

Poor Rocio. She just wants to enjoy being an entrepreneur and engaged for a little while before getting married.

I hope Santi is serious about cutting Isa loose—even if they end up together at the end. It will do them both good to go their separate ways for awhile.

I was horrified by what Isa did to Mireya. Of course, she deserved it. Maybe if it had been anyone but Isa who was doing it. I can’t stand her right now.

Lola: agree with you about the probable end of show wedding. Do NOT want to see Fac and Maria renew their vows, either.

Maybe Porfirio and Perpetua? :) (Unless Mrs. Porfirio is still alive).

Nanette, yes, I agree. Facundo is dead to me. Fac is a petulant, demanding child. His immaturity and constant criticism and non-support and non-appreciation of his wife have robbed him of any vibrancy.

Ummm, I guess I won't mention that gratuitous swim he took (?) Other than that, he's dead to me...;) (sorry, I just can't stay mad at Eduardo. I want to, but sigh...)

Forgive me.

Diana

Diana: "(sorry, I just can't stay mad at Eduardo. I want to, but sigh...)"

EY does nothing for me, so it's easy for me to dislike Fac. ;)

Thanks for the recap!!

Too funny when Santi was in Fac's office talking about Isa and Fac comes over, kneels down, and presses Santi's head to his!

I fear that tonight's planned wedding will tear Maria and Fac apart and Fac into Isa's arms. Florencio will arrive just in time to pick up the pieces, i.e. Maria.

I felt bad for Diego last night. I still like him much more than Feli. I wish Carmen would at least treat him nicely and realize the pain she caused him. She's pretty self-centered herself.

Sara, terrific recap. This didn’t hit me last night, but it did when reading your recap: Maria tells Rocio that if she is going to break Beto’s heart, she needs to do it now...not the day of the wedding. Hmmm, does Maria still feel guilty about what she did to Florencio?

I have no problems with Isa breaking into Mireya’s office. If the psych board had done the right thing by charging Mireya, it wouldn’t have been necessary. Santi doesn’t know Mireya was giving Isa crazy-inducing pills, right? Sleeping with him is the least of it.

That smile on Fac’s face when he eluded Estefany in the pool – be still my beating heart! But I was so busy gawking that I didn’t realize at the time that Fac had been musing about Isa in the pool. So to hell with him!

Beto comes from a world where they marry and have babies very young. Rocio comes from a world where they maybe even live together first, marry later, and have babies even later. Too bad they didn’t hash this out more. So I too will be happy if it doesn’t go through right now.

Estefany, really? I think she would’ve tugged on more than Fac’s leg in the pool. Sorry, but going after Fac in Maria’s house is just skeevy. Kissing Porfirio – lol! Serves you right.

Whatever happens after Fac finds out about the wedding, I hope Maria does not crumble like she did when he found out about her alerting Santi to his business meetings. Jarifa, as you said earlier, Maria needs to find her inner Alice Kramden.

Hated seeing Diego with Francis and the shadow girls. He’s better than that.

I’m fed up with Fac too, but then I remember that he has never slept with another woman while married to Maria. But, writers, I must see him suffer really really good and crawl crawl crawl in order for me to want him with Maria in the end.

Could there be a secret reason why Isa doesn’t want Rocio marrying? Remember her early plot to have the poor girl institutionalized. A husband could interfere with that.

As always, I so enjoy your comments Niecie.

I think you hit the nail on the head in that Maria asking Rocio to break Beto's heart in advance was her guilt in what she did to Florencio. Good call.

I agree with the comments made that Rocio and Beto should wait until everyone is on board with the wedding so that they can have the wedding they (and we!) deserve.

Oh and Nanette? No problem about Eduardo. I have my hands full trying to fend off Sara, Niecie and others. Lots of stiff competition around here! ;)

Diana

Well, I disagree with the majority here that Rocío and Beto should wait until everyone supports their wedding. I think Beto should only be concerned with waiting until Rocío is ready to get married which might be a matter if simply more TIME to be engaged but it should have nothing to do with their families. Rocío was willing to leave Isabel behind before and Beto should be willing to leave Facundo behind, also. Bullying cruel parents do not deserve a place at the table just because they are the "parent" (here I am considering Isabel as Rocío's "parent").

Niecie, so agree about Facundo needing to "crawl, crawl, crawl" for him to end up with María.

Diana, you do not have to fend me off either. You and the others can have EY.

Nanette, I like Porfirio too much to wish Perpétua on him.

Carvivlie, I also like Diego. He needs new friends.

Jarifa

I spent most of the day cutting out and stapling "bricks" for a Spanish Word Wall. Bless every one of you for your comments. The sound of my phone dinging was all I needed to abandon my work and check the patio. (Which probably made the word wall task take twice as long.)

Jarifa and Diana-I'm so glad I have friends on the patio that eagerly await each episode.

Lola-ditto on the wedding renewal. I want a fresh wedding with a never married before couple. Besides, it's too reminiscent of the last failed vow renewal.

Wait, wait--I take that back. Maybe I could live with Santi and Isa renewing their vows.

But as for new couples- Flor and Estefy might be good candidates. I have been swayed by Nanette's about Rocio wanting to spread her entrepreneurial wings that now I'm not even sure how I feel about her getting married at the FIN. (I could go on an on about how much I love the way they have written the Rocio character. You *can* still be in love and NOT want to marry ASAP.)

Also Nanette: I am torn. I wouldn't mind a Perpetua and Porfirio pairing, but it would be kind of neat if we met Mrs. Porfirio.

Carvivlie:
"I wish Carmen would at least treat him nicely and realize the pain she caused him. She's pretty self-centered herself."

I'm finding it very distressing how much the kids are like Fac. Carmen wants what she wants and she seems to feel like she's justified in everything she does.

Poor Diego.

Niecie: "I think she would’ve tugged on more than Fac’s leg in the pool." I really struggled trying to figure out how to phrase that. It just sounds dirty no matter what.

I second Diana about your observation that Maria is feeling guilty. I think after her experience with Fac and Isa, she is starting to understand a little of what Flor must have gone through. (oh my...maybe Carmen in more like her mother and not Fac.)

Jarifa, I did not think you were in the EY ultimate fan club, so thank you for taking yourself out of the competition. :) LOL.

I understand that Facundo and Isabel don't deserve to be part of Rocio and Beto's wedding. But, the truth of the matter is - it hurts when parents don't want to participate. My mother in law and one of hub's sisters would not come to our wedding and it stung for many years (married almost 31 years now).

I guess I would prefer a world where everyone gets along and that people be able to put aside their objections for one of the most important days of their children's lives. I don't think this will end with Facundo being reprehensible so am trusting someone, somehow gets through to him and that he embraces his soon to be daughter in law. I say the same (with less enthusiasm) about Isa.

Diana

Sara and Carvivlie, I am not caring much for Carmen these days. She is indeed self centered and seems to have lost the genuine sweetness that was initially so appealing.

But, in fairness, Frenetic Francis has likely worn her down. I know she's worn me down to the point I can barely abide the sight of her. Ack.

Diana

Frenetic Francis (FF...hmm) really has no redeeming qualities. I can't muster any pity for her. Even Fac and Isa have had some moments where I liked them. Is there anyone else on the show like that?

And she really kind of deserves an anvil for her screechy voice alone. Who was it that said she screeches all her lines?

"EY ultimate fan club¨

The first rule of EY ultimate fan club: do not talk about EY ultimate fan club.

Sara: re: Frances' screeching. Might have been me. I agree that's how she delivers every line. However, I prefer her over Hilda--CAN'T STAND HER SMUG ATTITUDE!!

Jarifa: I really don't wish Perpetua on Porfirio. I'd much rather see Mrs. Profirio return. But when I think about Perputua it seems to me the only irritating thing about her is her interfering with Maria. That is a big part of her "paper", though

Nanette, I really don't want to see Porfirio with anyone. I would rather see him as a "senior" playboy.

Jarifa

Oh that is true, Jarifa. He is a cutie when he's flirting with the ladies.

Nanette - I am ashamed that I forgot about Hideous Hilda. Now there's someone with no redeeming qualities.

Jarifa: You're right. I think it would be fun to see Porfirio continue as a swingin' single.

Sara: amen!

Tuesday 7/21 Parte 1
I’m playing real free with the order tonight and it’s pretty short.

Hilda Part 1
After overhearing the conversation between Rocio and Santi, Hild runs straight to Fac’s office. Luckily, Fac is not there. Beto is though. Hilda tells him she knows that he’s planning to marry Rocio in secret and she’s going to tell Fac. Beto grabs her. This is not good.

Upset that she couldn’t stop Beto from marrying Rocio, she runs to the nearest bathroom and goes BSC and does this self grabby thing. A the while she mumbles that Beto will pay.

She goes to a professor at the university and recites her sob story. She loves Beto. They were so in love back in SBeC. Now he’s in the big city and wants to abandon her and marry a city girl. Hilda tried to stop him, but he abused her. She shows the bruises. Of course the professor can’t do anything to stop the wedding, but he can get Beto expelled from school. The recapper seethes.

Jacinto and the Animals
Margarito is having some sort of tummy trouble and Susana took him to the vet. Margarito has to take a purgative. Susana has trouble giving him the pill. (I mean, she can’t really use the “wrap it in bacon” technique that most dog owners use can she?) Jacinto tells her about some documentary he saw were some tribe used some thingamabob (lazy and half-ass recappers like myself rarely write down words) like a dart to blow a pill down an animal’s throat.

He convinces Susana to let him try it with Margarito. But Margarito blows first and Jacinto gets the purgative.

Jacinto is also supposed to milk the cow, but he doesn’t want to. When she swishes her tail, it hits him in the face. Susana suggest he tie a brick to the cow’s tail. He does and gets a black eye (That’s what you get for tying bricks to innocent animal’s tails.)

Maria’s Magazine
So the magazine with Maria’s interview is finally on newsstands!! María is so pleased. I love her smile. It lights up her whole face.

Did I misunderstand? Was Perpetua trying to rain on Maria’s parade with the line- “You’re so happy to be a well-known drunk instead of an anonymous alcoholic.” ?

But later Perpetua seemed just as happy as the rest of the family about the article. Fac was proud of Maria too. Porfirio was upset his picture wasn’t in the magazine. Perpetua says that was so the readers wouldn’t get scared.

Estefy
Estefy tells her trainer that her only interest is Fac. The trainer thinks that as long as Estefy has a black soul, she’ll never win Fac. Estefy agrees. She recognizes what an honest person Maria is, noting that Maria would never lie to Fac.

Hilda 2-The Revenge of the Mare
Since the profe didn’t seem to be able to help Hilda stop the wedding, she goes to see Isa.

Though there is no explicit scene of her telling Isa about the wedding, Fac does get a phone call while talking to Maria. He ignores it and tells Maria about it, but what does it matter? As soon as Maria left the room he jumped to grab the phone. I don’t care if he did resist the temptation to call Isa back.

Parte 2

Isa’s Tears
Isa has a sad. She’s been crying most of the day. She tells the kids that Santi told her he didn’t know why he married her (Did he? I recapped that just yesterday. I don’t remember him saying it that way. He said he fell in love with her at first sight!)

Rocio says something about Santi and Isa not fighting in front of the kids. She also says that when people argue, they say hurtful things. Words can hurt more than razors. Isa continues her cry and says she’ll have to work to forgive Santi. She lobbies for support from the kids.

El Casorio
Lots of build up and lies.

Porfirio overhears Concha and Maria talking about the wedding. Concha is torn. She doesn’t want Fac mad at her.

Rocio will be wearing a pink and black number in the “Happy Punk” style.

I think I understood that Maria tells Fac that she, Carmen, Beto and Concha are going to SBeC on business. Porfirio mentions how dressed up Beto was. I guess Fac thought that everyone misunderstood and thought they were going to a party. Maria says they are dressed up because it’s important to look professional while doing business. You’re treated according to how you dress. Concha comes out very dressed up and Fac laughs at her and makes that fiesta joke again.

Isa goes to see Fac at work to tell him about the secret wedding.

And Hilda just hides behind a file folder and no one says anything? Really?

Hilda busts into Fac’s office and tells him about the wedding.

Perpetua grills Porfirio about casorio comment. He can’t remember what she’s talking about, but as soon as Beto gets married Porfirio swears he’ll go live with him!

Then Perpetua calls Fac at work and tells him about the wedding.

Fac calls Isa. Grrr.

Meanwhile at the Registro Civil
Beto frets because Rocio is late. Finally she arrives and they get started.

Judge: Will you, Beto, accept Rocio as your wife?
Beto: I sure do!

Judge: Will you, Rocio, accept Beto as your husband? Rocio:loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong pause
Judge: Do you need me to repeat the question?

Las Cartas
Hilda’s grandmother reads the cards for Florencio. Lots of swords (king, ace). Two horses. Maria’s card is there. Apparently things are going to pot in the DF. Her marriage is falling apart. Some little job they have going is working(?) Florencio swears Maria will be his again!

Wrap it up, Florencio. We’re still waiting for Rocio’s answer.

The answer

Rocio: No….(the recapper gasps)....I don’t need you to repeat the question YES! I will take Beto as my husband!

Fac rushes in!!

Please fill in. :-)

Thanks, Sara.
The main reason Porfirio shouldn't get hitched (in my opinion) is because what poor woman deserves to have a life partner with that much of a roving eye?

Ha! True. But, how much life of "roving eye" is left?

Oh. That was so wrong.

I'm going to hell.

Yay! Thanks, Sara!

I'm glad Rocio said yes, but until they sign, it's not a done deal. Then they can go back to being novios instead of rushing into marriage when they aren't really ready.

Perpetua was totally trying to rain on Maria's parade about her Caras cover and article. But I guess once Lord Facundo gives his approval she then thinks it's ok to praise it.

Sara, thank you for your very funny and entertaining recap. "BSC" yes! nothing else decribes Hilda quite as aptly as this phrase! Loved it and your whole recap. Great comment about the "wandering eye" of Porfirio maybe not having much time to wander left.

My favorite line was Granpappy Porfirio saying that as soon as Beto was married he'd go live with him. Granny Perpétua is getting on my nerves again.

Not very smart for everyone to get all gussied up at home and think nobody would notice. Duh!

All in all a very fun episode.

Jarifa

Sara,

Thanks in advance for the header. I am ready to roll with the wedding fallout mañana.

Jarifa

Perpetua should have been the one to marry Fac.

Good one, Nanette!

Jarifa

Reading your comment, Vivi I realize that they may have solved the marriage problem perfectly. Rocío said yes, so Beto is happy. If Fac stops them from signing then Rocío is happy. Good job, show.

Hilda really showed her crazy last night, Jarifa. It was a little scary. (I'll have the header and intro ready, too.)

Nanette - Perpetua really does seem to defer to Fac in an unhealthy way. I'm glad Maria is starting to ignore her.

And now that Porfirio has made it clear how important that painting is to him, it seems glaringly obvious that they linger on it in the opening credits.

Facundo weakly apologized to Maria about ruining the photo shoot as he proudly thumbed through the magazine. Maria's words downplayed the significance of what he did, but her face said just the opposite. It will be interesting to see how things play out between them tonight. I hope her guilt over being dishonest about Beto and Rocio doesn't cause her to back down.

Ack! I forgot to put that in the recap! And I meant to. I really need to stop looking at Facebook and answering emails when I'm writing a recap (especially from memory.)

Thanks for that added information, Vivi. I'm also worried that Fac is going to turn it around to Maria's lying.

That card reading is pretty ominous. The marriage is over? (What's Hilda's abuela's name again?)

Great recap!

Hilde stooped pretty low when she went into Fac's office and asked Fac for money because Beto broke up with her.

Soooo tired of "My name is Isa and I'm a victim and nothing is ever my fault"

Poop is hitting the fan tonight! Will Beto forgive Fac for stopping the marriage? Will Maria stay strong in the face of the gale force wind of Fac's yelling and abuse?

Can Perpetua die now? She didn't even know if she was telling Fac the truth about the wedding. She didn't even try to call Maria to find out. She constantly belittles and undermines her daughter's choices.

I wish Rocio had stopped the wedding on her own terms. I kinda want the wedding to go thru just to spite Fac and Isa. I know its wrong.

Thanks Sara for the groovy recap. And thanks for the description of Perpetua. I couldn’t put words to it. “Unhealthy” seems right. Though it's probably more a generational/cultural thing. She’s such a little snitch. I despise snitches.

Carvivlie: I’m tired of Isa blaming everybody for her problems, too. Also, she shares WAY too much info with her young daughter. I also felt the same way about the wedding. I wanted it to go ahead just to spite Fac and Isa. But I also agree with Sara that Beto gets to know that Rocio said yes and Rocio gets a breather.

From the previews, it looks like Santi is trying to complete the necessary signatures for the marriage. I wonder if it does go through.

At first I thought Hilda was a “cutter”, then when she walked into the classroom I had a sinking feeling she was going to claim Beto abused her. They can’t expel him without a hearing, though.

Misc note from an ep past: do colleges have lockers?

OT: Flaco says that the original Colombian version of Cuando Seas Mia just started on MundoFox.

Sara, I loved the entire recap but your wry comments and observations especially stood out for me, particularly "(I mean, she can’t really use the “wrap it in bacon” technique that most dog owners use can she?)" and "Wrap it up, Florencio. We’re still waiting for Rocio’s answer". Stellar.

Tying a brick on the cow's tail? It was an out of character suggestion for Susana, so I'm blaming this lack of judgment and "beanie moment" on the writers rather than Susana.

Fac has been such a dumb ass for so long now. Frankly, I loathe the fact Maria has hid Beto's marriage from him as this misstep makes her descend not far from the low level he's sunk to. He's made many mistakes and worst of all, doesn't realize the majority of them. But two wrongs don't make it right. You can't not tell your husband your child is getting married. And darn Beto for putting her in that position!

Fac has a right to be angry but certainly Maria does too for the childish, immature things he's done and said. And if he isn't carrying the torch for Isa, at the least, he is following behind it way too close for comfort.

Diana

Also, let me clarify what I mean by Fac has a right to be angry. He has the right to voice his opinion in a civil tone and manner. He does NOT have the right to rant, rave, scream, yell or terrorize.

I think Maria might need to leave him. I don't know what else it will take for him to re-evaluate and appreciate his intelligent, talented and loving wife.

Diana

Do we know where Beto and Rocio plan on living??

Diana

Sara, missed last night so double thanks for bringing me up to date with the goings on.

I said yesterday that I think the wedding at the end will be Rocio and Beto .. I still think so. And someone else said that Rocio didn't have to get married; they could live together, not have children, real life stuff today. I'd love to see Rocio become a big-name designer, travel the world, further her education, and have a long-distance relationship with Beto (after he grows up). Since this doesn't happen in tn land, I still hope it's Rocio and Beto exchanging vows at the end and not one of the other dysfunctional couples. Let's hope this impromtu wedding is not finalized .. a bad way to start out.

Not liking where the Hilda abuse is going. And que?? hiding behind a filing folder now?? Yup, the grandmother has made her invisible.

Can't wait for tonight's madness.
Lola

Nanette: "Misc note from an ep past: do colleges have lockers?"

Yes, in countries like Mexico where students don't typically live on a campus but instead live at home.

Nanette: My grad school had lockers.

Nanette: my high school had lockers but I graduated in 1972, so :)

Diana

Diana: I also wondered where Rocio and Beto planned to live. I assumed since it was a secret wedding, they would stay in their respective houses for the time being.

I can't recall if the university I took classes at had lockers. I know the junior college I went to didn't. I thought maybe they were filming at a high school.

Sara - Terrific recap. Love this heading: Hilda 2-The Revenge of the Mare

But two wrongs don't make it right. You can't not tell your husband your child is getting married.

Diana, I couldn’t agree more. Beto and Facundo had been so close before. It was sad seeing Fac missing from the nuptials, especially since Santi and Esteban were there. Yep, he’s been a colossal dope and drove Beto away from him, but Maria should’ve simply told him “This wedding is happening and I’m going. Tough noogies.”

But now that it’s hitting the fan, I hope Maria hangs tough. She intended to tell Fac after they were married and she knew he would blow up, so she should be ready.

Thank you Carvivlie!! I had forgotten about that (I like group recaps.) Yes. It was low low low.

And I'm right there with you on "My name is Isa and I'm a victim and nothing is ever my fault". She's been playing that card for 81 episodes. Just shut it.

Nanette said:

"Also, she shares WAY too much info with her young daughter."

Agreed. Ale is mature for her age, but not *that* mature. She's such a sweet girl. I've hated watching all she's been subjected to.

Diana said:

"He has the right to voice his opinion in a civil tone and manner. He does NOT have the right to rant, rave, scream, yell or terrorize."

Perfectly stated. (And I got a giggle out of your saying "dumb ass".)

Lola said:

"I'd love to see Rocio become a big-name designer, travel the world, further her education, and have a long-distance relationship with Beto (after he grows up)."

That would be awesome and it really is too bad that TNs won't give that a try.

Niecie in MD-I'm glad you liked that heading. It's really kind of a group effort. Ever since Marta came up with Hilda-Mare I've always sort of thought of her like that.

"But now that it’s hitting the fan, I hope Maria hangs tough."

I don't like that Maria lied and I agee with all of you who have said that Fac has a right to be upset. But there is so much truth to what you've said, Niecie. Maria shouldn't have hidden the wedding from Fac, but she should not go back to being the meek and subservient wife she was.

I agree that in the perfect universe, where Fac would not act like an a** and try to sabotage/ruin/forbid his son's wedding, it would have been right for Maria to tell him. But this is not the case. Beto is an adult (yes, an immature one) and has the right to get married and to choose who he tells that he is marrying. Does Maria really have the right to go against his wishes to do so? Again, Beto is an adult, not a child/minor. He is the one who put Maria in a bad position by telling her his secret. But again, it's HIS secret to tell.

Maria has been trying to soften Facundo up-- trying to make the case for Beto and Rocio, even giving Fac their personal example. He would not be swayed. I'm sure she also thought she had more time to soften Fac up so that this all wouldn't be a secret, but Beto is the one who decided to move it up to the NEXT day.

Let me put out another scenario. If an adult child told one parent that he/she is gay, but not the other parent because they knew that parent would react badly, does the parent in the know have the right to break the confidence of their child and tell their spouse?

When you stop being a reasonable person, you lose the right to have people try to reason with you. Their only choice becomes to ignore you or go around you.

Vivi, my head tells me your argument on how to deal with unreasonable folks is an excellent one.

And so it is.

But my heart tells me that in this instance, with Beto's wedding, there are 2 possible scenerios for cooler heads to prevail all the way around. It's either Beto tells his father he is getting married regardless of Fac's feelings (and invites him to attend) or Facundo who chooses to attend, leaving his anger and feelings aside, to support and be happy for his son and his new bride.

I acknowledge I was wearing my beanie as I suspect neither of these instances will occur, but it's nice to hold out hope until the end.

I don't believe all secrets need to be told. In this particular instance, I agree with Niecie that Maria should have told Facundo and said she was going. Period. Beto put her in an untenable position.

Diana

I get it. Total honesty with the spouse and such. I'm just not putting it in nearly the same universe as Fac hiding his feelings for and encounters with Isa. Or his total disrespect for Maria and the other family members when they are honest with him and try to include him, like the photo shoot.

I was a commuter at a 4 yr college and we had lockers.

Jarifa

The high school where I teach has NO lockers. (And a full lost and found.)

I like Vivi's arguments, too. I think this is a situation--like most--where it isn't black or white. Each character is doing what they think is best for themselves and/or their loved ones.

I still have "nightmares" where I have to go back to high school (at my current age) and I can't remember my locker combination.

It is almost show time!!!!

Jarifa

*happy Margarito dance!*
