Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #9 Fri 7/24/15 A Date with Fate and a Twisted Date

Parte 1~~

The twist to the legal agreement, Maria Doloris and Isela learn, is that they lose their jobs along with the old pervert, Jacinto.  MD gives the bad news to the rest of the women in the shop.
Meanwhile, Esperanza learns of Julian’s gesture of offering to loan the money to Mardi for the rental space to begin a seamstress/tailor shop and refuses it in her name.

Leo mentions to Clara that it’s obvious that Julian has the hots for her big sis.

Josefa fairly breathes down Isela’s neck as she makes a call to Max’s daddy, the Judge, to whine about losing her job as part of the agreement.

MD is working late that night on the dress for Ivana when Max drops by to give her a bit of encouragement for the meeting the next day; she scolds him for accepting terms she and Ise “would never have agreed to,” and he leaves with his tail between his legs.

Mardi, angry, self-righteously calls Daniel to tell him she was wrong in doubting him and accusing him of having stolen her dress.  (Come on writers, why would a man steal a dress to begin with, let alone a half sewn one?  What a totally fem and high school thing for a girl to accuse a man of doing.)  Dan gets an evilly, self-satisfied grin on his grizzly little elfin fuzz–face.  To top the evening off, the landlady for the rental space gives Danny Boy the keys saying that Julian backed out of the deal at the last minute.

Clara and Espy discuss Julian’s reasons for originally not wanting to use dirty money,  and Espy breathes a sigh of relief, saying that at least he can return it and not get into a jam with those folks now.  Clara says well, it may be too late for him to return all the money.  There’s something else she needs to know…..

Claudio returns home that night and mentions Isela’s call and bad luck to his wife, Alma.  She kind-heartedly suggests he hire Ise since Max could use a secretary as his practice is increasing.

Honoria visits Espy.  Julian supposedly has gone to pay back the money she thinks.  Clara says he won’t be able to give it all back as planned because he is loaning it to MD to buy the fabric to make a dress to replace the one that went missing.  Clara swears Mardi wouldn’t have accepted the money if she’d known where it had really come from.  Honoria clucks and says her son would do anything for MD at this point.  Clara asks if he’s in love with MD and Honoria nods.  Please don’t say a word of this to her because Julian would blow a gasket.

Meanwhile, Danny Boy sneaks into the designer’s shop and surprises Mardi with flowers and take out.  He trashes Max and Ivana’s agreement, saying it’s all you can expect from a lawyer.  Max’ll get his cut of the deal and to heck with her and Ise.  She can always depend on him, though!   She is to promise that she won’t speak to her lawyer again.   (¡Basta! Enough of the close-ups on this guy—especially of him kissing MD!  He’s got a mug only a mother could love.  And the thought of swapping spit with those woolly chops is making me nauseous.)

Ivana’s aunt makes peace with her over accusing Daniel of using her for her money.

Back at the designer studio, Mardi starts pushing to meet Dan’s family to formalize their relationship.  He agrees. (He what????  With U-r-r-r-r-r-r-rsula for a madre-mia?) Clara and Espy show up at the studio to ask for Julian’s money back.  Honoria is afraid Julian will go to jail because of this.  It was from ill-gotten gains, they warn her.  Too bad.  “--Too late.  I’ve already bought the fabric and here’s the dress I’m making.”   That’s alright.  This place will give you a loan.  MD tells her mother the truth—they’ve fired her as part of the legal settlement.

The next morning a local news show is doing a piece on dress shops selling formals for quinceañeras.  In one of the windows is a different version of the dress design.

Back in the barrio, Josefa is cluing in Ise on the need to constantly seduce Claudio with every movement and gesture.

Ivana and Gerry come to view the dress.  Ivana is thrilled with the result and thanks her for the effort.

Later that morning, Orlando drops Ise off in Ari’s racy car in front of the designer studio.  Lindita de Doris runs up to greet him and she gets introduced to Ise.  Orly offers to give her a ride back to the barrio and they chat a bit.

Inside, the meeting takes place—in front of the entire staff which would never happen here in the states.  MD tries dismissing Max as their lawyer since he did not bother consulting with her and Ise prior.  He looks like a whipped puppy again and refuses to leave because he must be present as her legal representative.  The women start screaming at her not to sign because the agreement isn’t fair!  He’s the one who’s been accosting them and harassing them all these years!!  MD thanks them but says it’s all been decided and she’s got to go ahead with it.

Jacinto starts to brag about what he’s won by forcing the two of them to lose their jobs also.  Ivana steps in and says not so fast, Mole Faced One!  Maria Delores is now to be name the new supervisor!  He screams back that he’ll make her and Mardi pay for this betrayal!  He storms out and the women all cheer.  Max leaves and MD races after him to hug and thank him.  He admits then that he was legally bound to say nothing ahead of time.  She apologizes.  She mentions her boyfriend has forbidden her to speak to him again.  She also promises to find a way to pay him what she owes him but he doesn’t want it.  They go their separate ways.

Parte 2

On the finer side of town, Ursula overhears her Danny Boy with the butler; he’s requesting the hunting lodge be made up “as usual” since he’s bringing a girl for a bit of a visit, and she thinks she’s there to meet his mother.  Danny snickers as he says he needs her to be a bit “anesthetized” prior to her supposedly getting “to meet his mother.”

Orly and Dori commiserate over what it is to have to date secretively.  Dori mentions she’ll be checking with Mardi the next day for a job now that she’s the supervisor at the design shop.  Maybe something will come of it, right?  Just then Ari walks up and is suspicious of the two of them chatting.  Orly and she explain the situation.

At the same time, MD phones Ise about why she left since she still has a job there.  Ise tells her she’s accepted a job at Max’s firm.  She enters the office and offers a seductive “Good Morning” to Claudio.  (Note to hairdresser:  Viewerville likes the part on the side in that scene.  Keep it that way.  The straight hair with a part in the middle went out back in the late sixties, ya know?)  She has a chance to fill the judge in on the positive outcome of Max’s case and says she’d rather work there and has always wanted to study the law.  Why whose office better to work in than that of the leading jurist in the country?  Claudio swallows this one hook, line and sinker.

Max walks in a bit after and is surprised to learn who his next assistant will be.

Urrrsela complains to her lawyer/accountant that Daniel is spending too much money and is about to splurge again on some little tramp despite being pre-engaged to Ivana!  Not such a bad thing as long as he can keep it secret is what the lawyer (accountant?) has to say about it.  Mama’s going to give her son a lesson he’ll never forget this time, though.

When Ise gets home she tells Orly that she’s using her severance so that the two of them can finally get married.

MD, meanwhile, tells Julian that Danny is going to find a way to reimburse him for the money he spent on the fabric for the dress.  (Yeah, now that’s rich—and do not pardon the pun!  Besides, why doesn’t she just repay if from her increase in salary and bypass the Danny Boy????  Why is she stuck thinking he’s got to do it or that she should accept his offer to?)  Julian lies trying to play up that his mother misunderstood and that it wasn’t that large a sum and blah, blah, blah.  (Trouble-on-the-horizon alert!)

Ise pleases Josefa The Hag by telling her that she took the law office job and plans to become Claudio’s right-hand woe-man.
The next day, Danny Boy has Mardi shocked-to-the-socks impactada showing her where he lives…..er….the mini-manse of the hunting lodge which would fit about five of the barrio apartments.  His maid of a mama has to live there as a servant.  Mardi accepts the sob story and heads in for a heady appetizer and champagne.

Mama sends for Danny Boy and wants that tramp out of there and off the ground ASAPPPPPPP since Ivana, his real novia, is on her way for luncheon.  He screams the Hell you say!  Tell her I’m otherwise occupied!  Otherwise I will show her what a playboy I really am!  I’ll tell her the truth about this family also!  Just see if I won’t, Mother!”  (Talk about your Mexican stand-off!)

At the same time the police come looking for Julian and take him off in handcuffs, accusing him of masterminding the theft and murder of Rodolfo.  Honoria runs to warn Fermin the Vermin that his son’s going to jail and he’d better tell the truth about what he knows about that robbery and murder!  He races off to the gang members who threaten him over saying anything to anybody and then hop into their car.  However, Fermin of the fermented brain jumps in front of their car thinking that’ll stop them.  (Really?  These are hop heads who murder for laughs, you know?)  The hop heads proceed to run Fermin over as they flee from any confrontation with the cops.  Honoria shrieks.  Neither Josefa nor Espy know why Honoria is in such a state over that bum.  “—He’s my son’s father!”  She races over to Fermin and begins blubbering.  Even The Hag is shut-me-up impactada with that bit of news.

Danny returns to the lodge after successfully bullying Mama and, suddenly, if is a rufi magical moment (or rather, the Spanish Fly fizzy) cuz within a matter of minutes MD is hot to trot.   Degradation Danny starts crawling all over Mardi.  It looks like her virtue is about to be thrown to the wind.

Just wanted to thank Rain for a fabulous debut! You write like a natural! Very enjoyable read! Thanks also to ViviDC for the added epi info which I posted and credited.

Jardinera - Part 1 is superb. I've missed reading your recaps and hope I can keep up with Yo No Creo. Loved all your commentary, especially your shots at Daniel.

Daniel is a snake in the grass, but I have to admit I never realized how gorgeous Flavio Medina's eyes are till now.

So Max couldn't reveal to his own client what he was up to on her behalf? It turned out well in this case, but that's scary if it's really a valid practice in Mexican law.

Jardinera- I couldn't resist reading your recap, even though I haven't watched the episode yet. Thank you so much for the excellent rundown.

Please say it ain't so! MD is about to have sex with Dan because she drugged-- that's called rape. Ugh! Please let something stop this.

Also very worried about Julian, between the mobsters whose money he accepted, and the cops thinking he's behind the murder, and the real murderers threatening to kill him if his parents reveal the truth. I just don't see how this nice guy won't have a tragic ending.

Gracias, Jardinera. The herky-jerky playback I got made it difficult to understand some of the dialogue.

No way in the universe should Jacinto Quintero (we finally know his last name) have been able to get a deal like that. He was clearly in the wrong for years and his accusation against Maria Dolores should have been suspect since he had no proof.

I also don't get why Max wouldn't have been allowed to tell MD about any of this.

I am liking Ivana more and more with each episode. Hiring Maria Dolores as the new supervisor was absolutely the right thing although the two-timing troll will blow this up somehow before too much time passes.

There is a scene missing in the recap, which is the scene where Julian tried to pay back part of the money he borrowed from El Gordo (the same El Gordo actor from LQNPA). He abused Julian verbally and had his henchmen drag him to the stage to force him to dance with the male strippers, knowing that he couldn't. Is he in some way connected to Julian's unjust arrest?

Oops; it wasn't LQNPA, it was LFdD. I wish we could edit our comments.

Great recap Jardinera! So glad you are staying with this one!

About accepting Daniel's offer, I think everyone is worried about the money Julián accepted and they want him to pay it as soon as possible so he is not indebted to a bad guy anymore. Since Daniel said it would be a loan from his boss I think María Dolores will pay him back later with her own money.

I like what Ivana did although I agree that Max shouldn't have hidden it from MD.

I saw Flavio in a film called La Dictadura Perfecta and his character there is one of the only nice ones in the story. He plays a father whose twin daughters are kidnapped, his wife is played by Silvia Navarro and while the film is a black comedy they play their parts so earnestly that you get to feel for them in the middle of the dark mess they become involved in (FYI, they are both such fantastic criers). I think the guy is so talented that I'm inevitably drawn to him.

Jarocha

Jarocha- I just watched that movie a few weeks ago, and ditto on Flavio, and Silvia. Flavio definitely pulls you in to whichever character he's playing, no matter how despicable.

Jardinera654, thanks for an interesting recap.
Correct me if Im wrong, but he druged her, isn't that rape? And in the advance they come walkin out and she looks dazed and confused. Dannyboy is the worse kind of dog.
The "Moled face One", the was surpriseingly funny. The show is coming along slowly, but it's coming. I just want it to hurry up and get to the good part, Marie D and Max.
Everybody else is kind of boring right now.

Thank you much Jardinera, this is very much appreciated.

I like this show a bunch though it turns my stomach every time MD is macking with Danny. Ugh.

Before I read and comment, could I suggest: when one of our know recappers is POSTING for a different RECAPPER, could we avoid the confusion and add who the author is?

THANK YOU RAIN, FOR THIS RECAP!!!!!!

This comment has been removed by the author.

Rain--Thank you again. Agree with Jar, you are a natural.

Hmmm, I can tell you don't like Daniel very much. ("Dan gets an evilly, self-satisfied grin on his grizzly little elfin fuzz–face.")

Good Catch, Rain: " In one of the windows is a different version of the dress design." If someone in Viewerville looked away for a couple of seconds, they would have missed it. I wonder if that is that last we'll ever see of the dress.

Anita I agree with you, that's why when I first started to comment you know, after I read the recap and then the first comment on this recap had Jardinera654 thanking rain for the recap but under the recap Jardinera654 name is written so I'm kind of confused. I started to say great recap jardinera AND rain but then I just saw jardinera654's name. I like to give people credit where credit is due so if Miss rain did this recap I want to say thank you rain for the recap, it was really good and I mean that. Don't want to offend anyone.

I thought Jardinera was just thanking Rain for the recap earlier this week. If this is another Rain recap, bravo!

I mentioned last week that the garment district ladies would likely start making knockoffs of the dress. So far it looks like all they did was jazz up the one dress and add a bunch of embellishments. Either way, I think MD will be in big trouble with Ivana and Vera Duval again.

To the hairdressers, please, I agree--"The straight hair with a part in the middle went out back in the late sixties, ya know?" Actually, it was still hanging on in the 70ies when everybody ironed their hair--sort of the Cher "luke" (who, I must concede, was and is a gorgeous woman).

Sorry for the comment bombs, but it is actually kind of fun, to react and comment as I go along.

Well, bless my soul. NINA, I think you are right. If it isn't Jardinera and her style you can whip me with a couple of wet linguini. I'm sure Jar would have credited Rain for this episode if it had been hers.

THANK YOU, JARDINERA, for your gift to us.

yep, Ivana will go into public and someone else will be wearing a rhinestone embellished version because MD didn't retain possession but handed it to her loverboy

Hi, all! Sorry for the confusion. Recapper names appear on bottom. That is why I like to credit post up's right up top. It's my recap-- and thanks for reading and comments. Rape isdefinitely what I'd call it. I suppose Urrrrrsula will break it up before the unforgivable takes place.

Sorry if I left out the club scene. I must have slept through that part or thought it was from the episodic prior.

===========
O/T: just finished watching the whole La Reina Del Sur on Netflix. I cannot get CC's on Uni down here either. Being part of NBC, it was a professional production of first world quality. I was thrilled Netflix offered it, especially for the 2 types of CC and because we visited that whole area of Andalucía along La Costa Del Sol and Gibraltar.

Seems Netflix has La Usurpadora & La Patrona also.

Hi folks. I haven't been able to get CCs in Spanish or in English for over a week now. I can't really follow this without them. I hate to give up on the novelas. This was my is seventh and I've loved them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hulk+ has all of Univision's evening and afternoon relentless as well as a few of the other major Mexican networks' fare. They charge a few bucks/month but it can be worth it. Uni and Telemundo offer free streaming with CC if you have the right cable or satellite services. Again, these offer CC's but if you aren't using one of the the select number of provider you are S.O.L.

HULU + NOT HULK.

Thanks for the recap jardinera!

I know isela has been brainwashed by that woman calling herself a mother but I wish she wasn't going along with the plan. She seems to have enough of a conscience to know better. It doesn't seem like Claudio is all that bad of a person but it looks like she'll seduce seduce seduce until he falls for it.

And did it seem like dori and Orlando had a bit of chemistry, or am I just projecting?

jlk

jlk- You're not the only one. I was totally picking up on some chemistry between Orlando and Doris. I don't think either of them is aware of it though. The writers might be holding on to that in their back pocket, until Doris finally decides to dump Ari for good, and Orlando finds out Isela is seducing her boss and ends things with her.

Orlando seems like a nice fellow. And he and doris look like they'd be good together, if she could just cut the womanizer loose. That guy that got arrested, what kind of condition is his condition, did they ever say? He can"t seem to stand without holding on to somethimg. And now he's in jail, thats not good.
Why do these ladies wear white coats in the sewing room? They look like doctors. Maybe DM can change that now that shes got supervisor powers.

Hi all! Popping in super late - Thank you Jardinera for the great recap! These episodes are crazy dense! Part 1 would've been one episode for another TN all by itself. Love this line: "Dan gets an evilly, self-satisfied grin on his grizzly little elfin fuzz–face."

Flavio Medina doesn't appeal to me physically when I first see him in a TN, but he's such a good actor that I start falling for him after a few episodes. Well, in AB, he played a horrible person, but his acting was great. In this TN, there are some moments in which I totally get his appeal. When he was hugging MD from behind in the mini-house, I was like "yup, I get that. He's got me." There was some other part too, but I can't remember what it was.

jilk/Vivi - I am also feeling the Orlando/Doris vibe. I fully believe they'll end up together at some point. This makes me very nervous for Isela: she's being so studiously converted to the dark side by her "mother," that I'm 99% certain it'll drive a wedge between her and Orly and send him straight into the arms of kick-a** Doris. If that happens, I feel like it'll really send her spiralling. That also making me wonder if Ari, who apparently likes his ladies extra curvy, will end up making a play for Ivana, the only other curvy girl and the rich one to boot, at some point.

Please no more rape!!! The last two TNs I've watched have had rape storylines -- no more!

Very worried for Julian. He has no office and is now several thousand pesos in debt to a criminal. And with the mob life, once you're in, you're in, right?

PS: In Thursday's episode I wondered about Fermin telling Honoria that she gave him his vice. Was she and alcoholic at some point? Does Julian have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? I googled it and it can cause something called Clubfoot, but doctors usually operate to treat this when the babies are little, like 6 months, so maybe Julian's was never "fixed"?

I want to like Ivana, but her bitterness makes her a little intense when she's annoyed, and not in a likeable way. I imagine MD will only keep her job until Daniel's two-timing is revealed (especailly with The Lost Dress floating around) and then she'll be out on the street again. Whatevs - someone in an earlier post suggested that Doris and Ivana team up for a plus sized fashion line, but I vote for Doris and MD going that route. I love it when the "poor" girl makes it big and this is the first TN where it would seem semi-logical to me. (Most of the time, I'm like "really? That fast? With zero experience, in a CEO position? what?!")

Thank you Rain for a great recap and all the other recapers. Wow I missed a big part. I didn't see the part about Julian at the strip club. Was that on Friday's episode?

Hellashelle-- you said: "In Thursday's episode I wondered about Fermin telling Honoria that she gave him his vice. Was she and alcoholic at some point?"

My take is that he was speaking figuratively. You DROVE me to drink because you are a nag and you belittled me, etc. rather than her being an alcoholic herself. But, we have plenty of time to find out.

It is interesting that there are two Plus-sized women on the show in prominent roles. There's GOT to be something in the minds of the writers.

Does anyone know anything about the 1991 version of this? Who was in it? How closely are they following the story (i.e. see above for Doris and Ivana).

Thank you Jardinera, I'm still on the fence with this one. I don't like it when good people get deceived constantly without anything going their way. Daniel better quit winning all the time.

I'm hoping that someone interrupts Dan and MD so it doesn't go any further. But I hope it's not Ivana.

That scene that UA mentioned about Julian and the club was not in the episode that aired on TV. It must have been cut out.

I think that Claudio will stay true to his wife and not cheat on her. I think the actor likes to portray some uncertainty so that we think he may, but he seems to be too in love with his wife and too good of a person to do that.

I'm in the 'I love Flavio' camp too. And I agree with Hellashelle and Niecie, there are some scenes where he looks quite attractive, even though he's playing a slimeball.

Ithabill, I'm with Jardinera, Hulu+ has these episodes only one day later and I've never had cc problems.

Anita - Honestly, I had a hard time getting into this TN (I'm still struggling a little bit, and the late hour does NOT help), but I've wanted to see more young, plus-sized women in prominent roles for SO LONG that it's vying as the main reason for my hanging in there with this one.

Also, on the alcoholic issue: that's what I thought too, at the time, but now I'm wondering if that's what caused Julian's leg problems because I've only ever heard of paternal alcoholism being realted to the probablity of the child being alcoholic. (Then again, I know basically nothing about FAS). Anyway, it makes me think that Honoria got clean after Julian was born and Fermin didn't.

Cathyx - that's one of the issues I'm having with this one: there's very little joy. Everyone's been in serious problems from day 1 and the horrible characters are not particularly charasmatic. Flavio's charming when he's deceiving, but since he's so horrible the rest of the time, it's just disgusting. And Maleny is just awful! MD's so passive with some things and Julian's hopeless. I don't know, no one really calls to me yet.

Well, I do like Doris.

Im with you on that hellashelle, don't like the rape. I hope someone comes in before he goes any further. I don't care who it is just so somebody comes in and stop it.

Hellashelle, don't forget Josefa and her abuse.

Cathyx, if only I could forget that horrible waste! Ugh! I'm not sure I've ever seen Azela Robinson play a "good" character! And when she's bad, she's awful!

I like this one and getting into it but agree, MD's passivity, particularly with Daniel makes me want to yank my hair out. I know Daniel is a very clever charmer with plenty of time on his hands to lay traps but MD likes him way too much and is blind as a bat. If Max were smart, when he finally realizes who her lover boy is, he'll run.

Anita, I think this has a slightly different premise from the 1991 version.

I'm not familiar with all the cast members of that one, but the ones I know make it sound good.

I like quite a few characters and want to see what happens to them:

Orlando, Doris, Gerry, Clara, Leo, Alma, Max, Julian, and MD. In even like Isela, and feel really sad for her and this path she's taking.

Ivana sometimes rubs me the wrong way with her hair trigger reactions and ignorance about the situation of her workers. But she has great potential to become a woman and entrepreneur to be reckoned with, so I look forward to seeing how she evolves.
