Yo No Creo En Los Hombres Cap 24, Fri August 14, 2015- Maria Dolores and Ivana Get Their Daniel is Wakeup Call; But Will They Hang Up on the Loser?

~~Recapped by JDesdeNYC~~
Scenes combined so as to not annoy the recapper and reader

To Tell the Truth

Susana tells an incredulous Gerry that Daniel has threatened to throw her out of Ivana’s house after he and Ivana marry. Susana says she has to play both sides; while she will continue to pretend to support the Dan-Ivana marriage to Dan’s face, she thinks it makes no sense for Ivana to marry that worm and find out later he fooled her. Gerry still plays the “they should marry for the sake of the baby” card and Ivana shows up. Susana leaves and Gerry finally breaks it to Ivana that Maria Dolores wasn’t some “fling” (aventura) for Daniel.  Gerry saw MD come to the hospital, where Ivana was interned during her miscarriage scare, in her wedding gown looking for Daniel. Cara de impactada de Ivana.

Josefa still is angry and hateful towards Isela asking why she confirmed Honoria’s suspicion that she is messing around with Claudio.  Josefa plans to get rid of Orlando once and for all so Isela can focus on the “Get Claudio” mission.

The Lying Santibanez Come to Blows

Alma reminds Claudio of his responsibility to the Santibanez family, as a close friend of the dead Daddy Santibanez, so he can take care of the Maleny/Dan abuse situation privately. Speaking of the devil Dan and Maleny argue about Max insisting on reporting Dan to the police.  Maleny says of course she won’t report him but Dan insists Ari clarify and retract to Max that Dan physically abuses his sister.  Maleny says Ari can’t do that and neither will Max believe her if she says the accusation is false.  Mal says MD is going to run into Max’s arms as MD will not return to Dan after all the lies he has told.  Dan says he’ll get MD back by telling her Mal was the one who got the fake judge for the civil wedding ceremony.  An outraged Mal grabs Dan’s face and tells him no way she’ll allow Dan to lie on her like that.  She will tell MD the whole truth because if Max leaves her, Dan won’t get to be with Maria Dolores. The siblings push and shove with Dan eventually actually abusing Maleny.  The avenging Max sees the abuse firsthand and Dan only stops after Max sucker punches him. Max insists that Mal reports Dan to the police.

Love Hurts, It Scars

Julian takes MD, Leo/Clara and himself on a boat ride for a day of fun.  MD, of course, isn’t enjoying seeing all the in-love couples kissing as her fake marriage and relationship falls apart.  Julian tries to cheer her up, promising she will have the family she so desires one day.  He tells MD to imagine she’s in Venice as he takes the helm of the boat and rows it.  This only serves to aggravate his legs as we’re shown later that he has to go to the doctor.  The doctor tells Julian he has to be more careful about his condition if he doesn’t want to end up in a wheelchair or bedridden.  He has to take his prescriptions and take physical therapy.

Claudio Takes Charge

Max takes Mal to Claudio’s and they discuss the Dan assault on Mal.  Mal insists she can’t denounce her brother. Max insists she should because Dan is dangerous but Claudio says if Mal doesn’t want to report her brother to the cops, he won’t force her.  Max is horrified and privately he and Dad discuss why Claudio thinks they shouldn’t send Dan to jail.  Claudio thinks they have to respect Mal’s feelings and not report Dan while Max insists Dan be reported to the authorities because he’s going to marry and have a child with Ivana and he can abuse them as well.  Claudio says he’s going to give Dan a good talking-to because he can’t be allowed to abuse Mal.  Max says if Mal won’t report Dan, he’ll support MD if she does.

Leo Tells Max to Go For MD

Mal will stay at the Bustamantes since that’s the safest place for her away from Daniel, so say Alma and Max.  Leo shows up at home and tells Max he better go for the gold that is MD before it’s too late.  Max says he’s in a relationship (compromiso) with Mal and MD with Dan.  Leo says he doesn’t love Maleny and he should be with the one who he loves.  Leo says he’s proudly playing Cupid.  Max agrees to finally tell MD how he feels and will support MD in this difficult time.  Maleny overhears all of this and looks worried.

Max Goes for Gold and Dan Strikes Out

Max goes to MD’s and as they are talking, Dan shows up looks pretty GQ to woo MD and fails miserably.  He notes that Max wants to send him to jail to leave the way clear to date MD.  MD interrupts Dan and tells Dan for once to take responsibility for his actions.  He lied to her, but she’s not stupid anymore so if he doesn’t get away from her, she’ll personally report him to the police for the fake marriage.  Dan leaves and Max hugs MD.  Dan tries to return to MD, but seeing the Max-MD hug, seems to realize it’s over between he and Maria Dolores.

In her home, Max tells MD what a scumbag Dan is.  He even tells her that Dan told him that he can have fun with MD now that he’s had her.  MD cries but thanks Max for telling her the truth.  She views this entire situation as a test (prueba) that will help not be so stupid and silly (tonta) in love.  She let herself get carried away with her love for Dan but now her love has turned to hate.  Max tells her not to hate, but to grow from the experience; besides Dan was the stupid one because he didn’t appreciate MD.  Max goes in for the kill as he gets down on both knees in front a seated MD and confesses that if he had been Daniel, if MD loved him as much as she loved Daniel, he’d be the happiest man alive and they would be married.

Jenny Hearts Julian

After returning from their boat ride, and obviously fatigued Julian goes home and sees Fermin with AA girl Jenny.  They’re going to their AA meeting and Julian insists on going along with them after he rests his leg.  Jenny gives MD the stinkeye after MD thanks Julian for helping her forget her sorrows and kisses him on the check.  At her AA meeting, Jenny confesses her sordid past.  She had sex with men in exchange for money to buy alcohol and alcohol.  She also confesses she’s in love with the son of an alcoholic (Julian) and this is dangerous as she doesn’t want to be in a codependent relationship with a man.  Fermin looks on horrified as he wonders how AA girl knows he’s Julian’s dad.

Maleny and Claudio Have Deep Secrets

Claudio, on his haunches in front of Maleny, is given sincere and tearful thanks by Maleny, for not forcing her to report Dan. “Thanks, again,” she says with relief.  She flashes back to her childhood where Claudio covered up a murder for her.  Claudio takes a gun from a tearful little girl Maleny, who asks if she will be punished.  Claudio says no.  Guys, this is deeper than the Pacific.

Maleny and Ari engage in some intrigue where she tells Ari he has to retract his confession against Dan and get rid of Leo who’s to blame for all these problems.  He’s walking around like Cupid trying to get MD and Max together and if Leo succeeds, Ari won’t have a luxury apartment.

Ivana and Maria Dolores Face Off

Ivana goes over to MD’s and they talk.  Ivana tries to throw rich-girl shade and says she understands why MD sought out a rich-man like Dan because, of course, she’d want to get out of the barrio living in a home like this. Maria Dolores tells Ivana her home might seem awful to her, but she wouldn’t exchange her life and childhood in her home for all the money in the world, so the snob de Ivana can leave if she wants to, but if she’s going to be in her home she might as well hear the truth.  She never knew Dan was rich until a few days back; he always told her he was a driver for a rich lady. “Oh, please,” says the incredulous Ivana, everyone knows who Dan is.  “But I didn’t,” says MD.  If you don’t believe me, she says, ask his mother and his sister, we were in a months-long relationship.

Ivana says she had ended her relationship with Dan when Max told her Dan was with MD.  She only agreed to return to him when he visited her in the hospital asking for her forgiveness and swearing his relationship with MD was only a fling, and a bet (apuesto) between he and Max on who could sleep with MD first.  MD clarifies that Dan won the bet—wait what, there was no bet between Dan and Max; why is she mudding Max’s name?—because he got her to sleep with him because of the false wedding.  He even promised to marry her in the church afterwards but he didn’t show up on their wedding day.

Ivana tries to one-up MD by saying she doesn’t know that Daniel because the Daniel she knows rejoiced when she slapped MD over her stolen dress and called MD a thief (ratera); he proposed marriage to her and made love to her all night passionately and she carries the fruit of their love. “I have all of this.  You don’t.” MD one ups Ivana by handing her the engagement ring Dan gave her.  “It belonged to his grandmother, it costs less than yours,” MD admits, “but his grandmother told him to give to the woman he loves.”  “Now it’s yours,” MD says. Ivana is impactada. She’s also still angry about the lost dress as she tells MD she won’t get away with making her look ridiculous again.  She will marry Dan—yes, way to stick it to MD. Not!—and she hopes MD keeps her promise to not get involved with Dan. As Ivana angrily walks out, she seems overcome with sickness again, and MD offers to help her, but Ivana refuses. “Don’t you dare touch me,” she snarls as she walks out dressed in white.

Claudio Gives Dan a Good Talking-To
Dan gets a mini-intervention from Claudio.  He has to go to therapy or he will report him to the police.  Maleny will stay with the Bustamantes until she decides she’s ready to leave.  Dan submits to Claudio’s conditions.

MD Remains Compassionate, Ivana Realizes the Truth

MD discusses the woman-to-woman chat she had with Ivana with her mom and says she feels sorry for Ivana who is still blindly in-love with Dan as she was.  She’s even more sorry for hurting Ivana because she’s pregnant and telling Ivana the truth of Dan’s betrayal made Ivana sick.  Esperanza says it was good for Ivana to learn the truth, painful though it may be.  Esperanza wisely says, “Don’t you wish someone would have told you the truth to you’re your eyes, too?”  Besides, Ivana was the one who came to MD and that shows that she’s starting to doubt Dan.  Ivana shows she’s quicker on the uptake than MD was when she confesses to Gerry upon returning to the VD offices that on the same day Dan proposed to her and took her virginity, he also brought MD to meet his mother.  “Don’t you realize,” she says to Dan, “He loves her.  I’m just his meal ticket”(cheque al portador).

Leo’s Loose Lips Sink His Ship

Leo is posted up under a car repairing it, when someone knocks the wood blocks holding up the car, doing serious damage to our blond truth-teller.

Comments:
Thanks for posting this Jardinera, this show continues to captivate me with all the twists and turns.

Now that Ivana knows the whole story, I can't wait to see what she does with that information. I'm guessing she won't just ignore it and live in fantasyland.

Now we know that Maleny shot her father and Claudio made it look like a suicide. But where did a little girl get a gun and why did she shoot him?

I thought it very odd that Max drops the I Love You bomb, but then the next scene with MD is the next day. What did she tell him in response?

I love this show and eagerly await your recap JdesdeNYC.

Wow, the Maleny & Claudio connection. Who knocked out the car blocks?

And that conversation between Ivana and MD, on the one hand cathartic yet a pissing contest between two women in love with the same man.

Tofie, I can only think of 2 people who would do it, Daniel and Josefa.

Of course Daniel, Josefa cause she wanted Leo gone from Orlando's but I also thought Ari for Ari for Maleny cause she complained he was acting the cupid. Even went through my head Isela or Isela for Josefa.

This TN is running at such a rapid pace that while 121 episodes seemed short at first, now that the show is airing, I wonder what kind of crazy twists are in store for us to even get to that many shows! I am finding this show to be really exciting with lots of twists/turns and a blink and you missed it pace. It's crazy to think about all the different lies that have already been exposed and the confrontations that have happened..you really can't miss even a day without missing so much!

I was happy to see that while MD left out the part about Daniel's family being bankrupt in her conversation with Ivana (she just mentioned that she thought Daniel was a choker for a wealthy woman), that she realized that Daniel was just using her for her money and I was really glad that her attitude with MD was a front to save face and not what she really believed - she DOES see that Daniel played her and MD and is scum. What she will do with that, I don't know. I'm hoping she doesn't take him back but who knows and with all her issues, I just can't see this baby coming to term.

Along with the angst of Ivana marrying Daniel despite what she knows (including he doesn't love her but MD) is the angst MD cracks one of these times Daniel appears out of the shadows or if MD is with child. The pain on both women's faces as they took turns ripping off the bandaid, heartbreaking, but for it to be Daniel they spoke of turned my stomach.

I too was thinking of the number of episodes but if I look at Thursday's show, though not much really happened, kind of a set up episode, it felt full because the dialog and the actors ability kept me engaged not trusting myself to assume the outcome correctly if I looked away. Nothing was repeated and even the "extras" are all in so I want to know what they are saying, what they have on, have I seen them before? There's filler and then there is fuller.

Just watching now. Ooh! That was quite the revelation about Claudio, Maleny, and the "suicide"! I love it.

Cathyx- Max didn't really drop the love bomb. He skirted around it by saying IF he were in love with a wonderful woman like MD, he WOULD HAVE married her in a heartbeat. MD didn't know he was really talking about his real feelings. He made it sound hypothetical.

Tofie, I don't think Ari or Isela have the mean spirit to do such a thing. No way.

Linda, yes, I was glad to see that Ivana did just defend her love for Dan to save face in front of MD. I wonder what her next move is too.

I don't want to believe it of Isela but she is seducing a married man to get him to leave his wife and whatever else they got planned. Destroy his career and reputation? Matters not Josefa has programmed her for the task, Leo and by extension Max can complicate things for her.

Ari is all in with Maleny and corrupted.

It wasn't all Ivana saving face, MD took her pokes at Ivana too.

Just finished watching. Oh, no! Whoever did that to Leo is an evil bastard!

I very much enjoyed seeing MD and Ivana lay all the dirty truth out there, but also take some pokes at each other. I think Ivana is just going to keep going with this sham relationship/marriage with Dan and make him pay in other ways.

I don't think Maleny shot her father. In the fist flashback we saw, she was watching two adults fighting and then one of them got shot. In the flashback we got this episode, we saw her crying over her father's body, with the gun nearby, when Claudio enters the room. Seems to me she was probably asking forgiveness for not being able to stop the murder, but Claudio and Ursula interpreted it her asking forgiveness for shooting the gun. I don't know. There's a lot to this story yet to be discovered.

Watching that little girl pick up the gun and hand it to Claudio, Claudio, the absolute last thing I would have imagined. Wow. My head has been spinning now trying to come up with Claudio's association with Josefa's dead child, if in fact it was her child.

Man! If you turn your eyes away for even a couple of seconds you miss something with this one. --What I love is the way the actors playing Mal and Daniel can so easily play two emotionally retarded--aka spoiled, self-centered, undisciplined
adult children still fighting and scuffling like they did when they were in primary school!

We're thinking Mal's daddy was the one who got shot and killed in this scene. It could have very easily been Josefa's daughter and Claudio's cover story could be the reason Josefa's so eager to destroy him--IMO.

Who would knock out the blocks, who would hurt leo? Sweet loving Leo. As nasty as danny is he wouldn't do that. Who hates leo that much? WHYYYYYYYYYYYY?
CLAUDIO, did maleny really shot her papa or did he do it, and make her think she did? I gotta go back and look at that episode. Is he a good judge or a bad judge? He always looks like he knows stuff nobody else does, like hes hiding something. What is he hiding?

Dan would totally do that. He practically ran over Julian.

Both Leo and Clara are in danger from the folks who want to keep the truth hidden and keep all these other foolios confused.

Oh yeah, Daniel would and in anger but this could just as easily have been done by someone with not grudge against Leo personally but he just happened to be in the way and a nuisance to be dealt with. Whomever did it had to know what they did can kill him.

Great point about the actors playing Maleny and Daniel. Whomever cast this thing brought it.

It was funny how Dan thought he could convince MD that it was his mother and sister who got the false judge, and he had no idea. I guess he figured his other dopey lies have worked before, why not this? He really doesn't get when the jig is up. And what would have happens had she believed him? Somehow he would then have to convince Max, Leo, and their parents of this story. Which would mean Maleny's story a put Dan abusing her into submission would have to be overturned. He really seems to think that everyone else will fall in line with whatever version of reality he makes up.

Ursula always fixes what Daniel breaks. I'm not sure MD wouldn't have listened and possibly succumbed had Max not been there in the background. Even after she ran him off he looped back for another try but saw Max hugging MD.

Vivi, I was shaking my head at Dan too. First for even thinking that he could get MD to turn around, and that he thought the lie about Mal and mom getting the fake judge and Dan not knowing about it would fly too, after all the lies he already told.

Jacinto could have done it. He's nasty enough to do something like that, to get back at max for helping MD. Or that fat guy at the
Club. The possibilities are endless. Theres enough bad blood there, it could be anybody.

Jardiniera - I may wrong but I think we were told that Josefa's daughter was in jail and while in jail killed herself. She wasn't shot and killed, she committed suicide and blames Bustamante for destroying her daughter mentally...whatever that means so she can not be the one who Maleny shot. Plus, we saw a flashback of young Isela crying over her 'sister's' body and we saw a young Maleny with Claudio and they look to be about the same age and these 2 woman are not in the same age group.

I wonder if what Honoria said about Isela being the daughter of the some guy Josefa was once with and he just abandoned her and Josefa took her in is true because I would have put my money on her being Josefa's granddaughter with the deceased sister really being her Mom. We saw in the flashback that the age difference between Isela and the deceased sister is rather big with Isela being quite young and the sister's casket being full sized with her looking older.

Vivi do you know which episode it was that Mal. had her first flashback?
I'd like to watch it because I missed it the first time.

My vote is that it was Daniel.

I'm missing too much and I'm not even sleeping through an episode because I'm so enthralled. But I totally missed what Linda is referring to with regards to Josefa''s daughter being in jail .
That's why I love the great job the recappers do and the comments.

This TN is so good and the recaps are so excellent and complete that it's been difficult for me to comment on it. Maleny is my favorite. She has so much energy and an exciting lust for life. She is clearly damaged but is not deterred from pursuing her own self interests.

Daniel is so amoral and yet he seems genuinely smitten by María Dolores that I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that he'll eventually be redeemed and end up with the woman he loves.

As for who pushed the bricks out from under the car, I have no idea but I doubt that Daniel would stoop so low. If it was him... then... never mind.

Carlos

My interruption is that Maleny killed her father at a young age because during the flashback, when Claudio approaches her in the room, she says, Are you going to punish (castigar) me Claudio?)
and then when he picks her up and hugs her, she says,
Forgive me, forgive me Claudio .

And when Maleny and Claudio are talking in the bedroom, it seems as if she is thanking Claudio for getting her out of trouble for the second time.

At least, this is how I interpreted things.

I really would like to know what the story is behind maleny and Claudio. I mean these two people seem like the least likely two people to have something to hide, what the hell happened when she was a child? why is her father dead? and why is there no more money? and what does the judge have to do with that It, if anything? a lot of questions and no answers, yet.

JdesdeNY- Thank you for the fantastic recap!

There is still much to discover of the past secrets, but I think these writers are doing well giving us bits of clues. It keeps things interesting.

I was glad we finally found out why Julian doesn't use a cane, as his doctor tells him he's always recommending he does. He wants to feel normal. He doesn't want to feel disabled. But precisely because he overdoes it and doesn't use aids, he's going to hasten his need for a wheelchair. And that vecinidad is NOT wheelchair friendly. I hope he gets that physical therapy, but I suspect they can't afford that. Perhaps Jenny can be helpful with that.

Interesting that Jenny seems to have guessed Fermin's real connection to Julian. But she skirted around it when Fermin asked if that's what she thought. I think she's right to be concerned about the dynamics of possibly being in a relationship with the son of an alcoholic, being one herself.

Thanks for the wonderful recap, JDesdeNYC! I swear, every one episode of this TN is like 2 of any other TN! Great vocab and great lines. One of my faves: Ivana tries to throw rich-girl shade

I'm shocked at myself for this, but I find myself torn on Dan's physical abuse. On the one hand, yes, please stop him. He's a grown man and shouldn't be laying hands on people. But on the other hand, except for the time in his bedroom, all of his and Maleny's fights have felt like children squabbles. Especially when they push each other's faces, I find myself wanting a recess monitor to step in and yank them both back by the collar. So part of me feels like this is just a lie on Maleny's part, and another part of me feels like it's a truth, even if she doesn't see it as such.

After the last episode, where I was worried we'd get another TN with two pregnant women fighting over the same guy, I realized that in this TN it would be awesome because both women are pretty good people. Flawed, and annoying in different ways that make you want to shake them, but decent folk. Unlike with most TNs in which one child is the galan's kid and the other is a bargaining chip for a villana, here they'd both actually be pregnant by the villain and actually decent enough people to make the fallout compelling and not cartoonish. I almost thought when Ivana said "I have all of that. You don't" that MD was about to hand her a pregnancy test. I kind of wish MD had pulled out pics of the wedding or the opening of the shop or something that showed Dan kissing or hugging her, because I want Ivana to realize MD's not out to ruin her, they're both being used.

So intrigued by the Claudio/Maleny storyline! Can't wait to see what the heck happened!

So worries about Leo! Jesus--this is attempted murder! This TN's dark enough that I'm really worried about the physical results of this attack, especially after all of the doctor's talk of wheelchairs and braces. And, of course, Claudio and Alma will be all over this--Leo gets sriously hurt working as a mechanic in the barrio?! Yeah, I don't know if Clara and Leo will be able to stop them from taking drastic action to keep him away from her neighborhood.

Linda:
"I think we were told that Josefa's daughter was in jail and while in jail killed herself. She wasn't shot and killed, she committed suicide and blames Bustamante for destroying her daughter mentally" Could be that I fell asleep and missed the scene. If so, sorry.....

I've sensed that Ivana is living in her mother's shadow and has a professional inferiority complex as well as a personal one. Now she secretly sees MD as a professional rival as well as a personal one with Daniel, her petite, good looks and sweet, charming good-girl personality--which is the truth about MD she knows even if she refuses to admit it. MD's dress design also was a threat to her. It didn't matter when MD was working for her that the woman--a mere seamstress--in her emply; To think that now MD could possibly get funding from others inclined to wear her designs and/or to financially support her talents means that it could well be Ivana who ends up committing suicide before this thing is over.

Jardinera: I agree - Ivana's actually said several times that she's tired of beig compared to her mother, professionally and personally (more specifically, physically). She's made it clear that she doesn't think she's attractive because of her weight and she doesn't think Daniel was attracted to her physically. In that light, his "cheating" on her with the cute, slim MD is a blow on all of those levels, absolutely. I also think that we saw Ivana take another blow in MD's house when MD said her home might be humble, but she wouldn't trade her time there for any of the luxuries Ivana has. MD might not know it, but Ivana feels the same. She admitted it (to Gerry I think) a few days ago saying she's got all of this money and a great business, but what she wants is a family. To have the only guy that's ever paid attention to her give that to pretty, slim MD with her sister and mom and her practical sewing experience and design talent? Yeah: ouch.

I still want them to clear up the dress lie. Which means Jacinto might actually be useful--who knew?

Golly thank you JDesdeNYC this helps bunches organize what went down

"Guys, this is deeper than the Pacific"

I'm not convinced MD is done with Dan because she loves him and if he keeps pursuing her she will remain on the hook. She doesn't want a fight with Ivana but should something happen and Dan can play the sad sap persecuted husband MD will take him back. The fly in the ointment for Daniel is Max, not because MD cares for him but he's protective of her. Though Ivana knows Dan doesn't love her and only want's a meal ticket I think her pride creates a foe of MD giving Daniel a pass and ownership of him.

Thank you JDesdeNY. There IS so much intrigue with this show, it has me hooked.

About Dan and Mal's fighting. When I was a kid, I grew up with siblings very close in age and we physically fought all the time. Of course we grew out of that and wouldn't dream of doing that now, but as kids we had a lot of issues with each other and that was how we handled it. I kind of see that same with Mal and Dan, except they never grew out of it, and continue to deal with their issues that way. And we know how emotionally stunted they are, so that's no surprise. I may get flamed for this, but I haven't yet see Dan's fighting as physical abuse so much as grownups fighting like children. Mal goes after Dan too in the same way.

Cathyx- I don't think you'll get flamed for it. We the audience know that Maleny is lying about being physically abused into submission by Dan. But Max and his family don't know that, and Max is absolutely right that that kind of abuse (that Mal described) should be reported. I do think both Mal and Dan instigate these physical fights like children.

However I did not see the episode where Dan beat Mal with his belt, just read it in the recap or comments, and that does sound like it crossed a line.

I think both Dan and Mal could benefit from that therapy Claudio is demanding of Dan.

Vivi, I saw that episode of that fight, and I never saw a belt being used. They were tussling on the bed and fighting like they always do, but I swear I never saw a belt. Maybe it was edited out for the US viewing.

Yeah, what belt?! I'm talking about when they were in his bedroom and he started choking her; did he also use a belt then or was this another scene. Sigh. Not that it makes a difference.

I think both Dan and Mal could benefit from that therapy Claudio is demanding of Dan. Could Josefa join this merry band of delinquents on their way to therapy, please?

Helleshelle, it looked to me like he was using his hands, not any belt. Where would he have gotten the belt? He didn't take one off of his pants, so I don't know about any belt, except from what someone said here.

I didn't see the episode, and was going by the comments on that episode. I might need someone to clearly explain what happened in that confrontation. The comments made it seem that Dan got violent and with a belt on Mal.

Vivi, do you know what episode that was? I could try to look up the video and watch again.

Dan won't go to therapy he doesn't think he's done anything wrong and only got caught up in a lie by Maleny. He'll lie his way out and should he be forced and it be a female therapist will try to seduce her. Daniel and Maleny are entitled spoiled children in adult bodies, equally horrible, that have never taken personal responsibility for anything. So long as the money flows and Usurla fixes what they break this goes on. Daniel said, that money is like drinking salt water, the more you drink the thirstier you are. Since both are self serving foremost, both lie on the spot to get themselves out of the immediate jam and fine with throwing anyone under the bus including each other.

Cathyx- I don't remember which recap it was. Sorry. I'll go by whatever those who saw that episode remember. I seem to remember reading that that confrontation took place in a bedroom.

It's the recap for capitulo 15. The fight happens towards the end of the episode. There's a point in the fight when Dan is straddling Maleny and he's upright. It's exactly the position in which he would take off his belt if he were going to, but he doesn't actually do that as far as I can see. It is possible that he did and it was cut from the broadcast I saw. Arango rushes in to stop the fight, so a cut off is very possible.

Thanks, Hellashelle for finding the episode. So he had her pinned down and was in the process of taking off his belt. Disturbing.

I didn't see that he was 'in the process' of taking off his belt. He didn't make any moves in that direction that I saw. When a commenter mentioned the belt thing, it took me by surprise because I didn't see that at all. Yes he was straddling her on the bed and it looked like he was going to strangle her, but before he got close, Arango and his mother came in and stopped the fight.

Belt or no belt, this is an obvious patter of behavior between the two and as adults the bigger, stronger Daniel can get much rougher and he is. Not giving Maleny a pass because one of these times he may pick something up and cave his skull in. This is escalating in frequency and intensity as their frustration rises. I do think Daniel is violent by nature and ready to explode. He turned it up so quickly with the rough kiss of Susana. That wasn't a joke, that was a warning.

Ok, and to further beat a dead horse into the ground, I just watched that scene again. there was no belt, I repeat, there was no belt, or an attempt to get one. Maleny slaps Dan across the face. He gets up and grabs her and forces her on the bed while they are still fighting back and forth. Their hands are together and the hands approach Dan's waist, but that's just the way they were struggling, he then grabs her CHIN and soon after, Arango and Ursela show up and pull him off of her. Whew, I can now rest easy, lol.

cathyx: As for abuse, I wouldn't flame you. IMO now that I think about it--and the show has given us a reason to for certain--when does childish behavior turn into abusive adult behavior? I'd say that they are both abusive because now they are both adults and should know better and should be able to control their urges. Dan, being a stronger adult male is totally out of line laying a hand on his sister who, bitch as she is, is the weaker despite trying to squeeze his mouth and twist his lips or whatever that was. She's her own person and deserves her space--so did Susana. He totally enjoyed putting it over on Susana. It gave him a large charge to know that for once he--AND NOT MAMA BEAR--was in charge.

On the other hand, Mal is definitely abusive IMO in attacking Dan every time she gets angry at him. Then, emotionally digging at/blackmailing and insulting ARI and playing on his fears like she's been doing to manipulate and meet her financial objectives is also abusive as hell in my book. We don't maybe think of it as abuse because it's not physical. Just sayin'.....

So many comments, this probably won't get read.
Jardinera654 in your second paragraph you write,
Josefa plans to get rid of Orlando once and for all so Isela can focus on the “Get Claudio” mission.
I didn't consider Josefa as a suspect in Leo''s accident, but it makes sense if she wanted to put Orlando out of commission and thought it was Orlando under the car.
Great enjoyable read of another special Jardinera recap.

I think josefa could use a bit of therapy. I mean her child died she obviously within to Revenge shock of the mother, so she probably could use some help, cuz she look like she could snap any minute, she's always slappin Isela around. Isela should join in to.

Victoria, I (J Desde NYC) recapped. Jardinera posted for me. I never thought Josefa could possibly be the Leo assailant because injurying Orly would just make him a martyr and make Isela run to his rescue and Josefa is smart enough to know this. I thought Orly did it because Isela complained to him about Leo when she went to his apartment and Orly said, '¿Quieres que yo lo corra?' Do you want me to get rid of/fire him?. I don't think Orly is that evil, though. My chief suspect, though, is Ari, since he's amoral enough to do it, since Maleny told him they had to get rid of Leo because he was trying really hard to get Max and MD to be in a relationship which messes up their plans to use Max for his money.

Re Dan and Mal's fights. I didn't think much of it until Max mentioned Dan has to be stopped b/c he could hurt Ivana and their child. Dan is a child in a grown-man's body and he will act out childishly with any one he's with, plus he's a hulking dude now and he has to learn how to control himself. So yeah, therapy would help him, Mal, and Ursula since they are really dysfunctional.

J desde NYC --- Sorry for the mix up. I just noted Jardinera's name at the bottom. But a big thank you to you for such a captive recap.
I understood what Orlando said to Isela, but took it to just mean "fire him". Orlando seems too nice to do something like that. But love can make one blind. And with Isela's begging eyes, who knows??
Anyway, I hope we don't have to wait too long to find out who is the culprit.

No way Orlando did this. And I seriously doubt Ari too.

Ditto what cathyx said. Orlando's not a homicidal maniac. Neither is Ari, if for no other reason but that he's too scared to get in trouble.

Josefa is completely BSC. I'd bet it's her in a heartbeat.

Great work, Jardinera. I was out so much this weekend this is my first chance to comment.

I think it's either Josefa or the Fat Man. Neither of them has any conscience at all and both get off on the pain and suffering of others. Maleny would also be a good suspect because of what she stands to lose, which is likely to be something she will never have. Max doesn't love her and he never will. Nor is he the sort of man who will marry for appearances when he has a chance at marrying for love.

Of course, if it is Maleny we can expect her to fall completely apart eventually. She's already too close to the edge.

UrbanA: I only posted for JdesdeNYC this weekend. It is definitely a good read though! : D

Hellashellie:

Ari or Josefa are my two best bets for letting the car down on Leo.

Jardinera654, a superb recap good juicey stuff.
Ari did it, he did what mal told him to do, bastard. Either he did it or mal did it herself.
It would take a nasty cold hearted person to
Kill a sweet guy like leo. I hope he's not dead.
This show neeeeeeeeds the good guys to stick around for a while. they can get rid of auntee susanna, shes not contributing much to the show, unless you call sneaking around
Annoying people. Ok maybe she has purpose
But leo is just really honest and sweet, (not perfect), just really sweet. he needs to stay. Ok we'll see.
That was a good one-up talk between Ivana and MD. But Ivana better take notice, shes gonna be feelin like MD if she marrys that bottom feeder. Im not usually this mean talkin, but dannyboy brings it out of me. That little baby Is going to be stuck with a momma with low self esteem and a hyper crazy daddy. (Ivana & Daniel). That kid Is gonna come out jumpin.
That thing with maleny & claudio, thats a fishy situation. And her dad is dead because of it. I don't think she killed her dad. Did they show her shooting that gun in the flash back? I'll go back and see. Tonight should be a humdinger.

My apologies to J desde NYC. Great job.

It would be tactically wrong for the writers to deprive Max of his brother so soon in the story if that is what happened. I will be getting this one and I hope I can deliver on time.

I don't think they'll kill him, but I'm a little worried about how badly they'll maim him. And I already feel bad for Clara, because she (and MD) will get blamed for it.

Yeah. Just as they get blamed for thunderstorms and floods.

Evil never stops trying to tar Good with Evil's own stain.

And there's a lot of nasty stains in that town.

There are 8 million stories in the Naked City. This is just four of them.
