Amores con Trampa #117
This was a "just the facts" kind of night.
And so we start another night's story with Rocío chatting with Isabel in the Velasco's living room. Isabel says she overheard Rocío talking with her uncle Santiago and did not know she was still working with María. Rocío tells her about going to a meeting with Frederick. Isabel thanks her for confiding in her. Rocío hopes that things between the two of them just improve so they can be a happy family.
Florencio takes a seat at a table in a bar where all of his pals are drinking and playing cards. He is visibly upset and rattled as he pours himself a shot. He changes the topic of the conversation to the very stubborn Pantera. They all chime in with what they think of her: she is single and lonely. Florencio thinks she needs a man to tame her.
Rocío is on her way out and Alberto sneaks up on her on horseback. They chit chat and he calls himself a "salvaje ranchero" ( savage rancher). She tells him that that savage rancher has made her the happiest woman in the world. He wants her to get on the horse with him and go for a ride. She says okay as long as she gets to a meeting with Frederick in half an hour. No problem is Beto's response. The next thing you see is Beto and Rocío riding in a park. Rocío admits she gets antsy about making it to her work meeting.
At the Carmona house, the family minus Beto are all seated outside to see some kind of stage production Jacinto has prepared for them. Porfirio is seated dead center with his wife Martina on one side and Conchita on the other. Jacinto is dedicating his production to Granpappy. He never wants him to go and leave him alone.
Rocío and Beto arrive where Beto has wanted them to be in the park.She is upset because has the meeting with Frederick which she is going to miss. Rocío gets off the horse and Beto leaves her there as he rides off.
At the Carmona's, the cute production number is in full swing with all of the kids paying homage to Granpappy Porfiro. It is a hit!
At the park, Rocío is looking for Beto. He finds her and blindfolds her. When he removes the blindfold, he has led her to a display in flowers on the grass that asks "¿se quiere casar conmigo?" (Do you want to marry me?) he asks her and she says yes. They kiss.
At the Carmona's the show is over. Jacinto runs to hug Granpappy Porfirio. He asks his grandfather if he is ever going to leave him. Granpappy assures him he never will. Everyone congratulates Jacinto on the great job he did. Carmen is off to the university to take her test.
At the university, Carmen is standing looking at a folder when Diego arrives to find out how she did. She passed with an 8! He congratulates her and they kiss. Of course, lurking Francis has taken a picture of them kissing and is not happy about it.
Conchita and Granny Perpétua are busy watching everyone's favorite telenovela: "Amor imposible." Conchita comments that it is just like real life. They then watch a commercial about a grill that Conchita wants to get. Perpétua suggests they go to sleep early because tomorrow they are going to the ranch.
The next day has come because everybody in the family is blindfolded as Facundo leads them to the new ranch as he sings "Ranchero en la ciudad." They finally arrive and he removes their blindfolds one by one as they walk through the gate. Somehow he forgets about Conchita and Perpétua they go wandering about with their blindfolds still on.
At the company, Esteban's secretary barges into his office. Esteban, who is really looking black and blue and worse for the wear, asks her why she came in without permission into his office. She says the only reason he has a office is because of her. She makes it clear that he would not have been able pull off the swindle on Facundo if it had't been for her. She wants her check/ her money. He tells her to leave. She is fired. Not so fast: she knows about everything and has proof. Just as she says "proof" Isabel, Santiago and Florencio arrive and have overheard her say "proof". Florencio says they now know how to help Facundo save the company. Isabel tells Esteban that they will be filing charges against him and that with that secretary's proof they will be able to denounce him.
La Pantera is in some kind of video control room with multiple monitors on the walls spying 2015 style on María and her family. (Looks like she had her old ranch wired before she sold it to Facundo)Today will be the day that La Pantera will exact her revenge on María.
Facundo explains that the ranch is for María (and the whole Carmona family.) Chit chat as they all love it and Jacinto wants his own room. La Pantera is watching it all from her video control room. María thanks Facundo. They kiss. They all go to explore the new house. Just when María is under the chandelier, (La Pantera has it rigged to fall on command) it starts to fall but Facundo grabs her and pushes her out of the way.They all end up saved and unharmed.
Esteban starts arguing with his secretary, Isabel, Florencio and Santiago that they have no proof to use against him. Esteban starts to call security to throw them all out. Santiago grabs the phone from his hands. Esteban reminds him that he is not afraid of him. They lunge at each other and Santiago is on the floor giving Florencio enough time to grab Isabel. He is screaming, as he has Isabel around the neck, that he is the owner of everything. Florencio and Santiago make a coordinated effort to jump Esteban and Isabel just pops out.
The Carmona's wonder how the chandelier fell.
Esteban then grabs his secretary around the throat. Florencio pulls out his phone and after what seems like ages, finishes dialing the police informing them that they have the culprit that defrauded the Carmona's of their company. Isabel tells Esteban about how he is going to rot in jail. Esteban makes a break and runs for the door and he is gone.
At the boutique, Rocío is minding the store when Francis comes in. Rocío finds that odd because she has never seen her there before but Francis says a woman always needs clothes. Francis knows that there is going to be a fashion show. She thinks about how she is going to even things up with Carmen by ruining the show for her.
Back at the company, Isabel, the secretary, Santiago and Florencio all regain their composure after the Esteban incident. They talk about how dangerous Esteban is. Santiago reminds the secretary that they know that she was in on the swindling plan. Is she planning on helping them or remaining Esteban's accomplice?
At the new ranch, María and Facundo are talking. She thanks him again for the ranch and they kiss. Facundo gets a phone call from Santiago telling him that they accused Esteban of fraud in relationship to his company and that they even have a witness. Facundo tells him he cannot come back to the city right now. Santiago tells him to listen to him carefully. Esteban escaped like the rat he is and is on the lam so Facundo needs to be careful because Esteban is crazy.
Rocío calls Carmen. Carmen has a list of the models recommended by Frederick. Rocío says they can look them up on the internet and review them. Rocío asks Carmen if she is still angry with her. No, she isn't. Carmen does not know if they will be staying at the ranch full time--she and her siblings. Nothing decided yet. She talks about Diego. Francis is eavesdropping as she looks at the merchandise.
At the new ranch Florencio rides on by and greets María. She shows off the ranch Facundo gave her. He tells her about Esteban and how she needs to be very careful. He is just about to tell her about the intentions of La Pantera when Facundo with his stupid jealous streak has to cut him off asking him what he is doing there.
Susana and Jacinto are out in the woods with the burro and Margarito. They love the new ranch but are going to miss their friends in the capital. Jacinto is worried about his studies. Susana says they will have to talk to their dad.Who is in their path calling them beautiful children? Nobody but La Pantera. Susana's free arm (she is carrying Margarito) and fist are poised and ready to deal a blow as she asks La Pantera who she is. She explains she is La Pantera and that she sold their father the ranch lulling them into a false sense of safety. She invites them to go see some baby pigs she has. At first, Jacinto shakes his head no but Susana is gung ho. La Pantera says she lives closely. La Pantera thinks about María when she finds out her children have disappeared.

I did enjoy the animated Porfirio.
It feels almost like Francis and La Pantera are parallels to each other. Both are blond and light eyed. And they hate Maria and Carmen because they have a great family and people who care for them.

That is an interesting comparison of Francis and La Pantera. La Pantera could very well be Francis' future.
I am always pleasantly surprised by what can be found out there on YouTube. John Gavin was another surprise to me since I knew him as an American actor but nothing else.

A movie list could be interesting. So many of these actors from the novelas act in movies as well as do plays.. As a matter of fact, the second Pantelion offering this fall is a movie called "Ladrón" (supposedly a sequel to "Ladrón que roba a ladrón" 2007) with Fernando Colunga and Eduardo Yáñez starring. Maybe I will be able to dig up the first movie which also starred Colunga. Pretty soon Comcast/Xfinity should be having there Hispanic heritage month extravaganza with free Hispanic movies for all. Anyway, they did the last two years and I saw some wonderful films.
Well, I'm going to at least start a personal list. You've made many recommendations and I need to keep up with them.

I saw Ladrón que roba a ladrón by chance, just surfing channels and expecting not to stick with it. I knew Colunga and Soto only slightly then. It’s good – I wound up watching the whole movie. Soto is the brawn and Colunga is half of the brains of the outfit. Reminds you of the Sting or Oceans 11. I will most definitely be watching the sequel with Colunga and Yáñez.

Hola from Rio, Amigas!
After a long period of drought, Brazil has been getting soaked the last two weeks, just in time for my trip. :) Still having fun though- today was our first full day in Rio and the sun managed to come out all morning and most of the afternoon, so we spent it on the beach. Sao Paulo and Sorrocaba were awesome, as was the wedding, which was so much fun. We are eating a lot of great food too.
Looking forward to (trying to) catching up on this show before it ends and the others. Thanks for the wonderful recaps that are keeping me up to date on all the happenings.

Amores con Trampa #118 " Hark! Is that the Sound of the Forging of More Anvils That I Hear? or Will the Outing of Isabel's TRUTH Set Her Free?
Part 1
Well, wasn't this episode just jampacked with loads of action? And we even had a snake! What more could I ask for!! So, let's get right to It.
We start this episode with Florencio still trying to tell Facundo about La Panters but blockhead Facundo is still being blinded by his jealousy and is still not being able to let Florencio has his say. When Florencio finally is able to get a word in edgewise to tell Facundo and María to be careful in their dealings with La Pantera, blockhead prideful Facundo tells him that they are adults and can take care of their own business. Facundo is ready to fight Florencio.
At the Velasco's "Amor imposible" is on. Isabel is watching with Pelancha and singing along with the theme. The phone rings and Isabel answers. It is Esteban in disguise on the run who wants her help in getting him out of the mess he finds himself in. He blames it all on her. He wants her to come and meet him. If not he will make sure everyone knows her secret especially her beautiful daughter and she needs to know he is capable of taking out every member of her family one by one. They need to be together.
The discussion between the two little boys Facundo and Florencio is escalating because according to Facundo he is moving back to San Bartolo el Chico and there is not room enough in town for both of them. María tries to interned without any luck. Florencio agrees that they need to settle this somehow and wants to bet the company: his shares against Facundo's. He wants to know if Facundo will agree to the bet or chicken out. To be fair Florencio will let him choose the type of competition that will decide it. María is nervous that Facundo is going to bet all that they own. Facundo tells her not to worry because he won't let Florencio win. If Facundo wins Florencio also has to move away. Just when we think we will hear more about the bet, granny Perpétua comes out shouting for Facundo to know that someone called saying they had Jacinto and Susana under their power. Jacinto and Susana are missing.

Facundo is out riding on Facundo combing the countryside asking if anyone saw Jacinto or Susana. María is doing the same in town and countryside in the truck. (She learned how to drive!!). Tía Humilde's house is the meetup place. La Pantera is watching from behind a tree thinking they will never know where the kids are. Just as María took her father away, she will take María's kids away. It will be the best revenge ever! Florencio is also out on his horse looking for Jacinto and Susana. He suspects it must be La Pantera who has caused all of this because of her mighty thirst for vengeance. Would It not be the best news for María of he were to find her children? Carmen and Beto join the search.
Portfirio and Martina are at home on the couch where Porfirio tells Martina that he would just die if something happened to his grandchildren Jacinto and Susana. She tries to give him hope.
Florencio conveniently runs into La Pantera and tells her they have to talk because he is not stupid. She acts stupid at first saying she knows nothing about María's children. He tells her that if she hurt themhe will take care of her himself. Her response is: he and how many others will "take care of her"? She tells him not to play with her and threats won't do a thing.
Now we are back in D.F. on a street where Esteban is hiding in his trench coat among some bushes and trees. A cab pulls up and Isabel gets out. Little does she know that Mauricio is down the street standing next to another cab. He followed her and now he is picture framing with his hands watching the interaction between Isabel and Esteban who has just emerged from his hiding place. Crazy Esteban is busy blaming Isabel for turning into a criminal. She asks what he wants and he grabs her. She gets free and they start screaming at each other. She asks how much money he wants. No money for him; he only wants her. She is going to have to learn to love him the way he does her. He grabs her again and she fights him off. He grabs her a third time and asks if this is what she wants. He tells her he will do things to every member of herr family that she is not going to like at all. She jabs him in the stomach with her elbow and slaps him hard telling him she will fight tooth and nail to protect her family. Esteban said she betrayed him as Isabel goes running down the street shouting for the commander. Turns out she had called the police before going so they are there ready to capture Esteban. Sorry to say they are more like the Keystone cops because Esteban manages to overpower and escape all of them. The commander tells his men not to shoot as Esteban disappears down the street. The commander explains that they need him alive. Isabel is inconsolable because her family is in danger. Mauricio has witnessed it all.
Facundo is out riding on Facundo combing the countryside asking if anyone saw Jacinto or Susana. María is doing the same in town and countryside in the truck. (She learned how to drive!!). Tía Humilde's house is the meetup place. La Pantera is watching from behind a tree thinking they will never know where the kids are. Just as María took her father away, she will take María's kids away. It will be the best revenge ever! Florencio is also out on his horse looking for Jacinto and Susana. He suspects it must be La Pantera who has caused all of this because of her mighty thirst for vengeance. Would It not be the best news for María of he were to find her children? Carmen and Beto join the search.
Portfirio and Martina are at home on the couch where Porfirio tells Martina that he would just die if something happened to his grandchildren Jacinto and Susana. She tries to give him hope.
Florencio conveniently runs into La Pantera and tells her they have to talk because he is not stupid. She acts stupid at first saying she knows nothing about María's children. He tells her that if she hurt themhe will take care of her himself. Her response is: he and how many others will "take care of her"? She tells him not to play with her and threats won't do a thing.
Now we are back in D.F. on a street where Esteban is hiding in his trench coat among some bushes and trees. A cab pulls up and Isabel gets out. Little does she know that Mauricio is down the street standing next to another cab. He followed her and now he is picture framing with his hands watching the interaction between Isabel and Esteban who has just emerged from his hiding place. Crazy Esteban is busy blaming Isabel for turning into a criminal. She asks what he wants and he grabs her. She gets free and they start screaming at each other. She asks how much money he wants. No money for him; he only wants her. She is going to have to learn to love him the way he does her. He grabs her again and she fights him off. He grabs her a third time and asks if this is what she wants. He tells her he will do things to every member of herr family that she is not going to like at all. She jabs him in the stomach with her elbow and slaps him hard telling him she will fight tooth and nail to protect her family. Esteban said she betrayed him as Isabel goes running down the street shouting for the commander. Turns out she had called the police before going so they are there ready to capture Esteban. Back to Florencio, he is still talking to La Pantera and is telling her like it or not he will be going on her ranch property to look for the children. She says that would be trespassing that she would ask he be charged with. Just as they are really going to get into it, Facundo and María arrive and ask La Pantera if she has seen Jacinto and Susana. Facundo said someone called saying they had been kidnapped. He does not understand who that could be because they have not been around long enough to have done any harm to anyone. Before she can answer the two children come running out from the trees. La Pantera let them come over to play with her animals!!! Susana says they found Margarito a girlfriend. La Pantera invites the whole family to come over to see her ranch anytime they want. Face do does not get it. La Pantera said they never let her finish. The children wanted to see her ranch so she didn't think it was a bad idea to invite them over so they could play. She apologizes for any problem she might have caused. He accepts her apology saying that it is okay because his kids are safe and sound. Facundo still wonders who was It that called them to tell them that the children were kidnapped. You just don't do that to parents. María is just happy the kids are okay. La Panters cannot imagine who would have such an evil heart to do something like that. Blockhead Facundo immediately thinks it must have been Florencio. Florencio calls him ungrateful because he was out looking for the children, too. The only way to solve their conflicts and problems will be with the bet. Florencio is thinking about it being a billiard tournament. Face do calls him a bunch of names but agrees with one condition: that they play billiards on horseback. María calls that a blockheaded idea. Even Susana cannot believe her father said that. (The quizzical look on her face is priceless) Facundo says just wait till he sees his most intelligent and talented horse Facundo who is not like the ones that Florencio has that only know how to dance like little ladies. María tries to give him an out but he is all in. Florencio says it will take place Ina few days after some training, etc.
At the Velasco's Santiago and Isabel are debriefing. He wants to know why she put herself in such a vulnerable position with such a dangerous man. It turns out the the commander told him everything. Perpétua is moaning she does not ant to be there and have to put up with Humilde. Humilde overhears her and ask if she should just leave so Perpétua can feel at home on her own. They are family. Perpétua calls her a hypoocrite and tells her to have some shame. Humilde cannot understand why Perpëtua just cannot let it go after all these years. Humilde talks to María and offers to help take care of Jacinto and Susana (her niece and nephew) at the new ranch. Pepétua lights into her and the argument restarts. It is so loud that when María gets a phone call she has to leave the area to hear. Perpëtua doesn't ant her grandchildren around Humilde. She criticizes the quality of fruit Humilde bought: not fit for her grandchildren to eat. Humilde reminds her she is in HER home and ever since she arrived she has been a real pain. Perpétua says that is because Humilde is the worst person she has ever known in her life. Humilde calls Perpëtua "doña Perfecta" the one who never makes mistakes. Perpétua is going to get her stuff and get out of her house once and for all. It comes down to Perpétua is still angry about Humilde's gossip causing the breakup of Porfirio's and Martina's marriage and of course the most important: Humilde's dalliance with Mr. Perpétua of "ojo alegre" fame.
Back at the Belasco's, Isabel asks what Mauricio wants. He wants to make his movie, win an Oscar. He thinks that the secret she is keeping and that Esteban is threatening to tell would make a great plot. She asks if he wants to make a movie with her with that plot. He sure does. She tells her nephew with the constantly scene framing hands that he is nuts.
María is back from her phone call and asks what all the arguing is about between Perpëtua and Humilde. Perpëtua spills the beans about Martina leaving Porfirio as a result of the gossip started by Humilde that Porfirio was back with an old flame. María then asks what Humilde did to her mother.
Mireya is missing tormenting Isabel so she gives her a call for old times sake. The phone rings. Isabel thinks the calls is from Esteban but Isabel answers. Mireya wants to know if ungrateful Isabel is crazy out of her head yet. Nope, Isabel is just doing fine without the pills, teas or drops she prescribed for her. Mireya is just insulting. Finally Isabel tells her "hasta nunca" and hangs up on her and thinks about how she will see Mireya put in jail. On Mireya's end she is still saying nasty things about Isabel when a patient, Mr. Yunis, arrives in crisis without an appointment. She is more than happy to see him. She wants him to sit down and relax and to have confidence in her. She asks if he has a loose screw; if he likes his last name. He talks about how he does not like his last name and gives examples how it caused him trauma when he was a child.

Perpétua reminds her of all the sacrifices Porfirio had to make as well as Facundo growing up without his mother. María wants to know one more time what Humilde did to her mother. Perpétua says that is between "that thing" (Humilde) and her. (Guess she doesn't want to tarnish old Mr.Perpétua' s image) María says she just wanted to find some peace but cannot find it anywhere. María storms off and Perpétua blames it all on Humilde.
Esteban is skulking around D.F. In his trench coat and fedora keeping his bruised face in the shadows. He decides to give Mireya a phone call so she can be his accomplice again. She answers and he tells her he needs her help to get out of a problem he is having. Her response is that he always has problems. Anyway, she has a very important man in her office and has to cut it short but she will call him later. She returns to her patient and starts to put the moves on him. She teases him and willingly plays into his advances and fantasies. She accepts to go out for a drink with him. They even mention "ethics" in a joking way. She a accepts the date and as they leave he puts handcuffs on her which she really likes. He spoils her good time with telling her he is a police investigator working for the Psychiatry College and she is under arrest for charges that have been brought against her. He shows her his badge and a small recorder. He recorded their entire session. She insists she has done nothing bad; never drove anyone crazy, etc. Esteban is outside of her office on the street and is witness to her screaming and being escorted to the investigator's SUV as se is taken away. He looks disappointed.
Beto, Facumdo and Carmen are arguing about her helping them do some "man's work": fixing the front door that squeaks worse than the bones of her grandmother Martina. They finally give her a hammer to go fix it. La Pantera is watching it all on her "pantera cams". She knows Carmen is going to find the welcome basket of goodies she left for them. Carmen goes for some fruit and there is a nice big snake slithering its way around the basket. She jumps back in fright. Facundo picks it up and twirls it around, loses it just to find it has snaked under his jacket. Facundo is screaming. The snake gets passed around and finally Facundo puts it Ina conveniently placed cotton sack. They tried to make it sound like a rattle snake. La Pantera is not pleased her plan has failed. She tells Facundo (in her head)!that he cannot be everywhere to protect his family and that the third time will be the charm. Facundo will take the snake back out to the country and let it go. Carmen hugs her dad.

They are also going to have to consent to the charges against Esteban. After this Facundo will be able to get Santiago's beloved company back. Isabel is worried about Esteban. He is still on the loose but even if he is In jail, he can escape. They all do. Santiago still does not get why Isabel went to see him in the first place. What does she know that he doesn't. Is she blackmailing him?
At the Carmona's, Granpappy Porfirio is in the kitchen with Conchita who is being very careful around him since Martina came on the scene. He is still calling her his "concha con nata" etc. and tells her he is not going to stop talking to her. They talk about her still supplying him with hard boiled eggs, etc. Conchita calls him on why he never told her that his wife was alive. He confesses he did not know himself until she appeared on the scene more fierce than ever. Comchita sashays around the end of the table and tells him to take a good look at what he lost. He does not think all is lost.
La Pantera is out side with her horse raving about her failures in her revenge so far. She just hopes María is the one who falls in the countless traps she has rigged at the ranch. She laughs.
Santiago still wants to know what happened really between Isabel and Esteban. Why does she run desperate after each time he calls? She thinks he should have a good idea why but he doesn't. He does not want anymore secrets between them. He pleads with her. She agrees she does not want to live hiding things. She is fed up with her current situation. She explains that in a moment of weakness when. Esteban was their best friend not necessarily Santiago's best friend, he found out the truth. Santiago wants to know what truth. Isabel's after Malena confessed tthe secret to her on her deathbed. Isabel knows that Malena and Santiago had sex. Marlena said it was a mistake. It had happened before Isabel and Santiago were married. Malena got pregnant. Santiago wants to know if Isabel knew he was the father. Yes, she knew all of these years. Santiago looks shocked she never mentioned it or threw it in his face. She did not do it for the good of Rocío,the innocent one in all of this. Since she always knew Santiago has to confess he did have sex with her sister but did not know it was her sister at the time. Well, there it is. For me this was perhaps the best episode ever with lots of action, humor, an anvil, great writing, great acting, a snake, and THE mystery solved. The recap was so long because I just savored every scene. This one was a real keeper.

Thanks, Jarifa. Great title and fabulous recap. The pace picked up last night and you covered it all beautifully. And you never miss the key details. Duh! It didn’t even sink in with me that Maria had learned to drive! Sara picked out my favorites: pantera cams and not like the ones that Florencio has that only know how to dance like little ladies. I love Florencio’s dancing horse.
So the BIG SECRET is out. Santi didn’t know at first that his one night stand was Isa’s sister. You all might have seen this coming, but I didn’t have a clue that Rocio was Santi’s daughter. I thought the secret was something damaging to Isa, not Santi. Now Isa looks like a martyr. Isa loves Rocio now, but in the beginning Rocio felt like Isa hated her. Did Isa take out her anger at her sister and Santi on Rocio in the early years?
Loved seeing Fac scared of the snake. Galáns usually handle snakes with such aplomp, so it was great seeing Fac frightened like a real person before he steeled himself down to get rid of the snake.
Fac is most def a blockhead for not letting Florencio have his say. On the other hand, Florencio does have the gall to walk up to the front door of a man’s house (both Fac’s and Santi’s) and try to mack on the wife right there. So I kind of get Fac’s anger. Florencio might do better just calling Maria on her cell, but then we wouldn’t get the pleasure of these silly scenes.
Pasty, banged up Esteban manages to fend off five buff policeman. No puede ser! They need some women on that police force. I do believe Estefany could’ve taken him down. Too bad she stayed on the dark side.
I have to give a nod to Carmen and Beto. Nice brother-sister chemistry out there in the woods searching for Susana and Jacinto, especially when he carried her over a puddle or something. Those two have pretty much stuck up for each other throughout the TN.
