Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #6 Tue 9/1/15 Dear Diary
Well, Eloisa can't reach Pedro, and that's not like him. Sergio suggests that maybe their straight-laced Pedro who always does just what he's supposed to is busy having sexytimes, so maybe that's why he's not answering. They argue over whether Maximo, who Eloisa claims Pedro takes after, was really such a saint, but no matter--"he can't have been so perfect" is no excuse for Sergio's behavior. They're watching the news, when a reporter in front of Tania's building unofficially announces her death, claims it had something to do with a romance gone wrong, and suggests the cops aren't ruling out murder. Sergio sees something as the camera pans the crowd and quickly changes the channel, saying the news upsets Eloisa and it's not good for her health. He suggests cartoons instead. Riiiiight, 'cause Eloisa loves her some classic Roadrunner? Sure, Sergio.
Fiorella is still weeping over Tania, but finally pulls Gianna away. Fidel finds out from a police officer that they don't know much. The neighbors are saying it was suicide and the apartment has already been searched. He tries to go inside, but he's stopped by a detective. Since he says he was the owner of Tania's apartment, the detective wants to interview him.
Meanwhile, Fiorella is breaking into Tania's apartment with Gianna in tow. She's determined to find the diary and is shocked at the state of the bedroom. I can't believe the cops didn't pick up the diary already. Gianna's feeling a little overwhelmed with all of this and wants to get the hell out of there already!
The PI Zacharias and Benito inquire at the airport office for the two missing girls and Benito is all too quick to discourage the guy from giving them any information or searching the videos. He has a fit about privacy and annoys the airport official. Adela calls, presumably to give him the news and he rushes out of there--not that the PI or the airport official cares. They've found some good footage of the girls getting into the taxi.
Fiorella is worried because Adela and Reynaldo haven't come back to the apartment yet. While Gianna goes to get water, Fiorella opens the diary and starts reading…"Now life has no meaning for me. I've lost all hope with you, Pedro. I never imagined it would all turn out like this, but it's best for everyone." Fiorella says Tania's death is all Pedro's fault. "How can a man be a prince and a devil at the same time. He's a monster."
[CONNECTION ALERT!] Vittorio welcomes his buddy Pedro to his restaurant and realizes something is wrong. Vittorio can't help talking about his fiancee who left him at the altar. Pedro's not feeling chatty. He's just waiting for Fidel in some kind of lounge area off the dining room. Fidel arrives just then to tell Pedro they've taken the body for an autopsy. And the cops think it's suicide, but he tells Pedro not to jump to conclusions until the cops have finished their investigation. Fidel is worried that the cops will find her diary and everyone will find out she was involved with Pedro. Sergio suddenly arrives because he saw the news. He saw Fidel and he recognized the apartment. He doesn't know what's going on here, whether Pedro had a thing with Tania, but he wants Pedro to know that it doesn't matter to him. "So, you're not worried grandma will disinherit me?" Well, duh, of course he is! Sergio wouldn't want to lose his meal ticket. "Dad. You suck." Sergio smiles sadly and says Pedro's right, but he fills an important function--black sheep of the family. He doesn't want competition. He advises Pedro to take care of things and not let it get out of hand. Pedro gets the hell out of there. Sergio seems awed that he got some of Pedro's tears on his hand when he touched Pedro's face. Sergio summons Vittorio and butters him up with some Italian and then tries to order the most expensive bottle of red wine on the menu, stopping him from getting Pedro's authorization because Pedro is "molto stressato" (very stressed out). Vittorio tells a waiter that Sergio's a "cara dura" (he's got a lot of nerve)…so bring him a bottle of Brunello that's gone bad, but don't say anything about it!
Fiorella is having a grand old time filling in all the blanks in the story so that this is all about how Pedro's a total jerk. Gianna's getting tired of hearing it and wants Fiorella to chill. She's worn out and going to bed. Benito comes in and tells Fiorella that his parents are still at the police station. She just can't wrap her head around what happened and Benito's explanation is "That's how people are. You never know what they're thinking." He takes her hand and says he'll always be there for whatever she needs. Fiorealla pulls her hands away and offers him a coffee or maybe tea. Benito asks if anyone has come by asking questions, but nope.
Fidel asks Pedro what he plans to do. Pedro feels "culpable" (guilty, responsible) and also "angustiado" (anxious). He needs to do something to help or take charge of the funeral or something. He asks Fidel to take care of it, and be discreet. Pedro says his father is right--he has to keep this quiet, not for his own sake, but because it would be a major blow to the family. Eloisa would not take it well. Fidel is still worried about the cops finding the diary. Pedro says he's not going to screw up the investigation, so there's only one thing he can do….
Dinner at Vulture Central, and I swear they're having the exact same conversation they already had about Pedro not being there, wanting to have the will read, and Sonia having the hots for Pedro. Sergio even arrives, just as he did before, only this time instead of flirting with the maid (who isn't there) he gets into some verbal sparring with Federica about Pedro not bringing any chicks home. Sergio tap dances nicely around the issue of Pedro and the girlfriend he may or may not have, but who he sure as hell wouldn't bring over. I see Eloisa coming into the dining room out of the corner of my eye and am uncomfortably reminded of Gary Oldman's beehive 'do in Dracula. Roxanna throws a temper tantrum about wanting to go party with her friends if they're not going to read the will. Why can't Eloisa stand to see anyone happy?! Eloisa mocks the idea that making a drunken fool out of oneself at an "antro" (club) and baring one's belly…and she illustrates this…before passing out drunk is "happiness." Roxana flounces away from the table to have dinner in her room and by Sergio's "I didn't know dinner in bed was an option. Oh, no, of course not." we know that little brat just sent herself to bed with no dinner.
Zacharias brings Vittorio the video from the airport. He thinks some other man was waiting for Fiorella, he knew it! She was making a fool out of him! But Zacharias says it's just a taxi driver, and they don't look like they know each other. It wasn't an airport taxi, but Zacharias is going to find the guy and make him tell them where Fiorella and Gianna are. Suddenly Vittorio hopes that nothing bad happened to the girls.
Pedro visits a cop who was an old friend of Maximo's. He tells the guy that he knows they're investigating Tania's death and he had a romantic relationship with her, so he wants to put himself at their disposal to help clear up the matter of her death…but he needs his involvement hushed up. Maximo's buddy says that's no problem--as long as Pedro had nothing to do with her death. Pedro asks about the actual cause of death. Was it suicide? The cop said that's what they're assuming because of her blood alcohol level and the pills in her stomach. But they're confused by the lack of a suicide note. Pedro asks if she didn't write something in her diary, but they never found her diary. Pedro is surprised, but he thinks maybe she lost it on the trip to Italy.
Roxana. Antro. Gael. Roxana foists her friend Carla off on him.
Tania's funeral. Diana sits alone. Pedro and Fidel hide around a corner. Fiorella, Gianna, Adela, Benito, and Reynaldo are the only other people there. Fidel tells Pedro to go sign some papers, and then wonders if someone there has the diary. Pedro gives him a dirty look and Fidel excuses himself. Fiorella leaves some flowers by Tania's urn and catches sight of Pedro. Back at the bench of mourners, Fiorella is livid because Pedro didn't make a big show of mourning. Adela says he's "gente de dinero" ("rich people") and doesn't want the press to find out. She tries to soothe Fiorella. The funeral director tells Pedro he's got another family of mourners on the way and needs Pedro's signature now. Pedro signs and confirms all the costs are covered. Fiorella can't resist going over to give Pedro a piece of her mind. Or eavesdropping again. She hears Pedro tell the funeral director he really didn't know her and decides not to waste even "due" (two) words on him.
Later, alone, Pablo leaves a red rose by Tania's urn and cries. But since Fiorella isn't there to see it, I guess it doesn't count.
From September 7-18, Uni is running a contest to win an Italian vacation. You watch the show, find out the Italian Word of the Day, and then enter it on the Uninovelas page on Facebook. If you win, you don't have to take me with you, but I do have a current passport. Just saying.
Fiorella. Pedro's horrible. He's a terrible person. Protecting his family is no justification. Benito backs her and swears he'd give up his fortune and defy his family for the woman he loved. Adela takes Gianna off to look at some of her old clothes. Benito now seems to be hitting on Fiorella, when before, I could have sworn he was making eyes at Gianna. He tells her maybe she should be making more of an effort to find her fiancé and Fiorella gets nervous and sweeps dirt over his feet. That's a sign he's going to marry a widow, she says, and tells him to stand farther away from her. Is he trying to get her to flirt with him or say something about Vittorio?
At the office, Pedro can't concentrate. Somehow, he couldn't get into the apartment last night because there were cops all over the place. He gets a call from Eloisa and Fidel leaves him to take it. She can't wait any longer to read the will and Maximo wanted the entire family together for that. He says he's got a lot of problems right now, investors to meet with. She doesn't care. The will is priority. She'll only give him until tonight and if he's not there, she'll read the will and put someone else in charge of the company. Pedro calls Fidel in to tell him he's going to Tania's apartment to look for the diary. Sonia, wearing a pointless sheer shirt, interrupts before they can leave. She wants to talk to Pedro.
Vittorio and Zacharias have tracked down the cabbie, who does NOT have a permit to work the airport. Plus they know two girls got into his cab. Two Italian girls, which can't be all that common in Mexico. And Vittorio here is the fiancé of one of the young ladies. He's lost contact with them, so they need to know where the cabbie dropped them off. Welllll, it's going to take some cash to jog his memory.
Federica and her new hat are about to read the cards, but she gets distracted looking at the photos on Roxana's phone. She sends copies to herself. Then she captions one of the photos, hashtags the hell out of it, and posts it somewhere online. Roxana arrives, whining about her hangover and Federica offers to read her cards for her, beginning with the predictable and commonsense "Your headache is about to get worse." Eloisa comes into the room shrieking about the photos of Roxana's drunken night online. Damn, Eloisa must have alerts set up! Roxana looks at the photos on Eloisa's tablet and whines that her phone must have been hacked…or it was that reporter again. Eloisa doesn't care. She wants to know why Roxana disobeyed her AND took tacky photos. Roxana flounces off to her room again and Eloisa tells Dante to track down Pedro.
Benito gets to work and starts making some noise about being allergic to overtime. Well, that's not why Vittorio was summoning him. He summoned Benito because he (Vittorio) knows where Fiorella is.
Sonia tries to suck up to Pedro, but he tells her to cut to the chase. She wants Osvaldo to get a promotion. Yeah, no. And she just wasted his time. "You think I'm not giving him a better job because I'm jealous?! He's where he's at because he's incompetent and mediocre." Sonia suggests Pedro could help him. "Sonia…why don't you resume your music career. At least then you could entertain yourself with something more productive."
Fiorella found 13 people named Vittorio Dragone, but none of them are the right one. And [POTENTIAL MYSTERY ALERT!] "nessuno" (none) in Mexico, much less one who owns a restaurant. Gianna excuses herself, but she's tired. Fiorella doesn't think the city is good for her…they should go somewhere like Rancho Los Angeles. What?! The family home of the evil, no-good, rat bastard, heart-of-stone Pedro? Did she absorb a little of Tania's essence from that diary? She starts reading about all the trees and the mountains in the distance and the air is so pure it almost hurts to breathe it. What the…? It's not a novel, Fiorella! It's your dead boss' diary! Quit reading it! Fiorella promises to take Gianna somewhere like that, but Gianna passes out like she's been on the verge of doing the entire episode.

"Riiiiight, 'cause Eloisa loves her some classic Roadrunner?" was great but "Eloisa coming into the dining room out of the corner of my eye and am uncomfortably reminded of Gary Oldman's beehive 'do in Dracula" was absolutely hysterical. However do you come up with this?? P.S. Don't stop!
I thought Gianna was eyeing Benito early on but he didn’t seem to cast much enthusiasm her way. I also did not surmise he liked Fiorella which was clear tonight. He is like a besotted child. It seemed that came out of the blue but I believe it is the reason he has not given them away to Vito. Although, he does seem like a good guy so kindness may have been a motive. Possibly the attraction has grown in the last 24 hours (or whatever the time lapse has been!)
Highlight was Eloisa’s flashing her stomach in the hysterical Roxana imitation. That was a great scene and totally unexpected.
I've been hard on Pedro and sadly, I am unable to lighten up on him tonight either. There is a clear difference between not wanting to make a romance public and hiding in the shadows unwilling to show yourself even though the woman you were involved with died tragically. He could not show Tania the respect in death that he should have shown in life.
That cabbie had some gaul, didn’t he? He stole the girls’ pitiful luggage and dropped them off at a forsaken location. Didn’t stop him from putting the squeeze on Vito, did it?
It will be interesting to see what Vito is hiding.
Kat, thank you for the marvelous summary.

Favorite quip: "hashtags the hell out of it"
Night night! I'm off to bed!
I can't tell how long they're supposed to have been in town. 24 hours at least, right? They arrived, made it to the hospital, came back to Adela and Rey's the next day, and based on (lack of) costume changes also started working for Tania and Tania died that night. So maybe, we're looking at a time lapse of 48 hours?
I guess I'm at the Sympathy for Pablo table all alone :p It is what it is.
I hope the girls get that luggage back! It had what I'm assuming was their only picture of Mario :(
Boy, that was one sad little funeral. You would think a former celebrity would bring out the crowds of mourners and ex-boyfriends... And Pedro pretended to Funeral Home Guy that he didn't know Tania. Come on, guy!
Anybody remember the movie "Sabrina" with Harrison Ford? He played hard-nosed wealthy businessman Linus Larrabee who was so cold and emotionless that people referred to him as 'the world's only living heart donor'. Well Pedro reminds me of that character, except Pedro seems to be lacking a smidgeon of integrity right now.
Anyhoo, thanks again Diva--
J in Oregon
I love both versions of Sabrina for different reasons, though Harrison Ford is my preferred Linus Larrabee. And I think a lot of what made Linus the way he was is what makes Pedro the way he is.
J in O, linking this to Sabrina was great.
I thought Sergio trying to comfort his son was a tender moment. Seems that we'll have more interaction between father and son, and more on the back story of how Pedro's mom bit the dust.
Pedro's cousin-in-law (sorry, it takes me a while to get up to speed on all the names) showing up in his office in the black bra and gauze top got my attention. Although she is married to an useless twit, she is a seriously attractive woman.
Fifi hearing only selective snippets of conversation and incorrectly assembling them in an order that looks bad for Pedro is common fair for tn's.
Is that all there will be for Tania's send off? That seemed somewhat incongruous to me that a woman who was well known enough to be mentioned prominently in the news would have such an austere final tribute.
Ah, the diary. Seems like this will be a story unto itself, weaving in and out of the main plot at various times to the detriment of Pedro, with Fifi drawing all the wrong conclusions from what she reads.
Benito threw me a curve last night by hitting on Fifi. Is this his reason for hiding her from his boss? This isn't cool.
So what is going on with Gigi's heart, and how can it be fixed? I can't see her kicking the bucket, so there must be a cure available that only a person with a LOT of money can sponsor.
So Fifi wants to take Gigi to Rancho Los Angeles for her health? Boy, that's going to turn out really well, isn't it?
Thanks again, 5ft. Really enjoyed your efforts.
David
Wasn't that funeral home spectacular?! I thought that waterfall effect was beautiful and unusual.
David- Touching father-son moment? Maybe for a few seconds, until Sergio called Pedro his wallet (literally- cartera). No wonder Pedro is so screwed up. And given that Tania's death was somehow similar to his mother's, you'd think his dad would be a bit more sensitive.
The co-ink-I-dinks are lining up and out of all of Mexico, Fio wants to now go to Rancho for a job just because she read it in a diary, that she shouldn't have taken in the first place? Okay then.
Yeah, what was that with Benito moving in for the smooze last night? Left field? Still think he and Gianna work better, but sick and unassuming, she's not exactly making a presence. Get that girl well and hardy again, might see the sparks. However, she gets pulled to the Rancho, not sure then how Benito interplays with the girls.
I Love Sabrina, actually liked both versions, though the original with Audrey Hepburn is the best. I was all anything William Holden back in the day, so I still find myself rooting for David Larrabbee and sorry he wound up with the rich girl. But I see the parallel with both Pretty Woman and Sabrina on how Pedro is being painted...just think the writers may be taking it a bit far. That major domo of his bothers me a bit in that he seems to be the one drumming into Pedro's head "family, think of the family". Shut the **** up. I think Pedro might have acted differently if it wasn't for that guy.
Well, now, who really is Vittorio?? Inquiring minds want to know.
Oh, and JR cries ugly. Just sayin'. And that funeral. Nope, if she was some former star there would have been more gapers, press and onlookers. That was for the point of making it look like she gave up everything for Pedro I think.
Daisynjay
Gorgeous funeral location.
I'm finding Benito the hardest to get a read on. He's been very confusing.
For a brief moment I sort of wondered if Gael and Gianna are destined to be together. Too crazy?
David
Does anyone ever wear a hat....in the house? ..Show of hands. You can say a lot of negatives about our Pru from Sombra, but she was never drunk or drugged enough to wear a hat when she was a home.
I cannot wait until we can type..."Meanwhile, back at the rancho." It will be interesting to see these two bunnies in that nest of lackadaisical vipers. SSssssssssssssss
Well, off to teach verb tenses. L8R
My, my! I started to call Fifi self-righteous yesterday but thought that a bit harsh! She has appointed herself avenger of Tania's death, or what? Before she died and she and Tania had that flash bonding, Tania said that since Fifi understood her she would share her diary with her, something apparently she hadn't even done with Diana. I guess Fifi feels she's entitled to it? What does she intend: to go to Rancho Los Angeles and out Pedro to his family? I'm trying to figure out the logic of the writers. There is no reason for Fifi and Gigi to think they can just haul off and go to a strangers family estate, as you said, Diva, The family home of the evil, no-good, rat bastard, heart-of-stone Pedro?
I LOVE your alerts, Diva! History, Connection and Potential Mystery! Yah! Thank you, those were all important points: Pedro's mom possibly having died by suicide; La Dolce Vita is Pedro's favorite de-stress and business hangout and Sergio as the sacrificial black sheep of the family. This is certainly not the first time Sergio has helped his son, whom he loves in his own way. Ah! What happened between Sergio's parents?
Diva, Sara, Princess Juju, I can see the Vultures have provided us with a welcome opportunity for shortcuts or RPCs: what a bunch of suck-lemonheads, jeeezopeete!
LOVED Granny's imitation of hot moves at the anthro! Unexpected and hilarious!
Gael is beautiful, Roxana is NOT. Don't like her!
And Benito. You know, Monday when he got all dreamy-eyed, he was referring to Fiorella. He's now heard a little bit about Gianna being sick, so has he shifted his attentions to the healthier Fifi? She definitely gets an annoying kid brother vibe from him and she's not having it! I told y'all, I don't trust the boy! I hope Vitto DOES know where Fifi is and he needs to find them quick because he's the only one with the money to save Gigi's life!
Thanks again, Diva! Great episode, great recap!
OMG, Diana! Did Granny flash her stomach, too? That was so freaking funny!
Yes, Sara, hastags the hell out of it that WAS great as was Diva's observation that Granny must be signed up for alerts! I LOVE Granny being tech saavy! Yes!! You don't have to be roadkill on the information highway because your over 70 -- 80?
Diva, if it was a downer episode, you sure erased that right out of my mind!
Diva at midnight, do you mean "Sympathy for PEDRO" table?
Ooo, J in O, this is exquisite: 'the world's only living heart donor'. I'm sure that's how Fifi sees Pedro.
The diary becoming a story unto itself, David, kind of like our CandyHouse but somber and foreboding. And I DO think this, David: I actually thought that Sergio would be the tender, misunderstood supporter of his son, even though he did call Pedro his wallet. I think the drunken, crass, playboy is a defense. For whatever reason perhaps he dare not show Pedro how much he loves him. They didn't do that longing gaze at the tear thing for nothing.
Vivi, thanks for mentioning the funeral parlour. MY God, it was gorgeous! The waterfall was soothing and peaceful!
Susanlynn, I was wondering when someone would mention that hat in the house thing. I guess it doesn't bother Granny or they've had a showdown about it and Federica won? Seems very uncomfortable. This is RICH: It will be interesting to see these two bunnies in that nest of lackadaisical vipers. SSssssssssssssss
Vivi - I agree, the funeral location was gorgeous! I'm chalking up the low attendance to Pedro's orders to keep it low key. I assume he/Fidel arranged for a private ceremony, no press, just people from the apartment building who would have already seen he and Tania together.
It's interesting to me to see Gianna getting frustrated with Fiorella's determination to be involved with Tania's story. I think it fits because it speaks to Fi's sense of justice and romance, but that does tend to get her off track - instead of figuring out how to find Vittorio (Vitto) and get her sister medicine, she wants to go to her dead boss's mean, secret boyfriend's family's ranch? Um...ok.
Kat I'll sit with you at Pedro's table, but more out of sympathy for the way the situation spiraled than for him. It's sad that she didn't actually mean to kill herself and it's sad that he didn't anticipate that his horrible reaction would mean that she would go so far, so quickly. Now he'll be a suspect for a murder that was an accident. It's also too bad that he couldn't figure out how to extricate himself from that relationship gently. I know he didn't want to hurt her, and his instinct to "clean up messes", so to speak pushed him to stick around and "fix" it. I'm glad he's in negotiations and not diplomacy. At least they're being true to his upbringing; he and his grandmother are very similar in the way they handle their "loved" ones, though she's lost all pretense of geniality.
I'm interested in the dynamics between Osvaldo, Sonia and Pedro. Seems like Sonia wanted Pedro first, but got Osvaldo. I wonder how much of her feelings remain and how much Osvaldo knows or suspects of that.
BTW, In "Sabrina", Linus Larrabee (Harrison Ford) made the "living heart donor" comment about himself. He displayed an exquisitely dry sense of humor, which Pedro to date has not. Guess that harder to pull off when your GF has just died...
J in O
Fifi just seems like a busy body always up in somebody's business. Who the hell she thinks she is, stealing that diary.
Hey, Tofie! Girl, you said it! How did Fifi get into the apartment when just moments earlier they wouldn't let Fidel, the owner of the apartment, even in to the building? The apartment should have been locked and yellow-taped even if they had searched it once. They obviously didn't do a good job but yah, real nervy of Fifi to take the diary!
Fiorella - flower
Innocuous enough. Pretty, sweet, can have thorns. Makes sense.
Gianna - God is gracious
Given her heart condition, it's fitting
Pedro - stone; rock
Yup.
Eloisa - hale; wide
Intereseting. Well, her health and age have been well noted (the scene when she demands help getting downstairs then refuses it when she goes back up is of particular note). She's physically quite small, but her power and unfluence cover the whole family, so I think it makes sense.
Sonia - wisdom
This is interesting, since she's been portrayed as a vapid, social climber.
Sergio- attendant
Also odd. He doesn't seem particularly prone to waiting on others, but maybe they mean he pays attention to details? This could be true; he's apparently been paying more attention to his son than people think.
Roxana - bright star; shiny
Interesting. Could be true, I suppose, though she's the worst of the lot so far, imo.
Gael - stranger
Very fitting, since he appears to feel like a stranger, even amongst family.
Benito - blessed
Ok, sure
Though the romance is being delayed, they are setting up a lot of character studies that I do enjoy watching. How are they going to get me on board with these two since I'm kind of annoyed by both of them right now.
Like Susanlynn, I can't wait until we are all talking about the rancho. I am ready for them to get there!
Sonia is the sheer-shirted one and she does have very striking looks. I'm curious to find out whether Pedro was being serious or not about her music career being more productive than Osvaldo's career.
I agree with you about Sergio. He's a jerk and a user, regardless of the reason. Maybe he'll make some big selfless gesture later on, but right now, Sergio is all about Sergio.
"But I see the parallel with both Pretty Woman and Sabrina on how Pedro is being painted...just think the writers may be taking it a bit far." Oh, they're pushing it, for sure, but at least it's backed up by something. It's no mystery why Pedro's not a happy-go-lucky guy, everybody's more interested in what he can do for them, and even his driver/best friend keeps The Family's needs at the forefront.
"How are they going to get me on board with these two since I'm kind of annoyed by both of them right now." I'm with you on that as well!
Thank you, Susanlynn! I will admit that I wear a hat in the house when I'm working in the kitchen, but otherwise, it feels weird to. I was raised not to wear hats indoors. Though, I will say, my "working" hats are NOT like Federica's! Good luck with the verb tense lesson :D
Fiorella is self-righteous and nosy. She's been a part of this story for less than 48 hours and she thinks she knows better than the people who have been living it for years? So much so that she's passing judgement about whose behavior is ok and whose isn't? And if she were an impartial, objective observer, I might trust her judgment, but that instant bond she had with Tania was more about Tania working her magic on someone who's so naive that she thinks pretty people can't be alcoholics, and deep despair is proof of love. Fiorella got sucked in by the sad, pretty lady, and instantly took her side, but she can't keep putting everyone in categories where they're either "good" or "bad" and there's no in-between. I think when she does some growing up, I'm probably really going to like her, but right now, she's on my nerves!
The Vultures only have three lines, "When are we reading the will?" "I hate being in this house." and "When is Pedro getting here?" If they don't start saying anything important, it's RPC city, all the way!
Oh, whoops, yes I did mean Sympathy for Pedro. I still have no sympathy for Pablo.
My cards say Sergio is not a jerk but Benito is! Leading Man starts out jerky but I think they were trying to win us over with his soulful tears at Tania's funeral. Leading Lady is starting out as a self-righteous, naive, metiche. We'll see how time and interaction with one another changes my impressions. This is going to be fun finding out!
Don't novelas usually have the leads fall in love early and fast, give us a few hot scenes and then keep them apart until the end? I can't see that early, hot love with these two.
I'm with you on that whole paragraph about Gianna's frustration.
The Sympathy for Pedro table serves either watered-down lemonade (to represent Pedro's life of forced responsibility) or Long Island Iced Teas (to represent what I predict will happen when Pedro finally snaps and tells them all to go to hell!)
If you're right about Osvaldo, Sonia, and Pedro, I wonder if that was Sonia dumping the wrong guy, or Pedro never even noticing she was interested.
I like the name analysis! I agree, if Sergio is "attendant" it's not in the sense of waiting on others, but in paying attention, reading the room, and manipulating people to get what he wants.
Thank you, tofie! She must have some kind of talent, like Lila says, to have avoided every cop and snuck in there after the first alleged searching and before the second one that prevented Pedro from getting in. If she makes it to Rancho Los Angeles, granny's going to love having her own personal spy. Whether she gets the actual information or just Fiorella's interpretation remains to be seen.
Lila, I think we'll see sparks with these two, but not necessarily lovey sparks. Not right away.
Oooo, it's gonna be like that with these two, hunh? "Fight so we can, uh, make up?"
;D
Romy
I admit to missing some stuff last few days in working late and watching in bits and pieces and hurried online, but seems to be a sorry lack of secondary love interests too or am I missing something? Seems to we have more self-absorbed people, not too many we can "root" for and cheer on if the lead couple is going to make us head-scratch. That's why I keep thinking Benito is supposed to fill that, if not with Gianna, with someone. Maybe I'm just missing E-man (Alex) too much.

Could I order a glass of watered down lemonade? It's a little too early for Long Island Iced Tea.
David
Who am I missing?
Maybe Em's out there on the ranch training those horses :D
But I'm sure it's 5 o'clock somewhere....

Thanks a bunch girl.
All of these other people are somewhat of an
Interesting bunch in there own way. But now
The chase can begin between fio and pedro.
Those romantic chases are always fun.
Of course she'll (fio) have to fight off those greedy Kissin cousins, while shes fightin him. I'm not likeing benito more and more, is
Gianna gonna have to die before he stops
Being stupid. Maybe fio should take her to los angeles and get a job there. Something
Tells me her and the old girl(Eloisa) would get along. In the meantime pedro is gonna have to watch his back, cause cousin asvaldo is just lookin for a crack in the princes armor.
I am hoping that I start caring about some of these people soon. Right now....yeah...no. Maybe I should have some Italian foodvforbvdinnerbto out me in the mood for this show.
And Gianna.
Could this be one of those "romances" where the protagonists cannot stand each other until ... eureka! ... they realize they are in love with each other? Shades of Rock Hudson/Doris Day type movies?
I'm also happy that at least so far I haven't had to yell at my TV screen and the cats aren't flying out of the room when the theme song comes on.

Caray is improving my language comprehension. Last night Romy commented, “girl, [Fifi] you just landed so you need to slow your roll.” Then later I was watching Mr. Robot and heard “dude, you need to slow your roll” and well, I completely got it! It’s English, but I learned a new dicho yesterday. Don't worry, I won't try and use it, its not age appropriate, I'd just look goofy!
Yes, Fifi, you need to slow your roll.....taking your very sick sister for better “air” at Rancho Los Angeles is a truly thoughtless idea.....
Thank you, doris! Hey, I'd be ok with that kind of classic approach.
Lol, Daisynjay, I'm laughing at "I should be in love with everyone in the first half hour."
Thank you, Sandy in TN! I'm sure the outdoor air is wonderful there but indoors? Don't inhale!
