Yo No Creo En Los Hombres 39 Fri 9/4/15: Lovin' "Em and Leavin' 'Em Ain't What It Used To Be

Parte 1~

Maleny sees the diamond heart necklace la lindita de Doris is swinging in front of windshield of Mal’s sports car.  “That locket is mine.  Where’d you get it?”  Doris teases Mal a bit longer and says “--I was all sweaty and stark naked one afternoon  when Ari gave it to me as thanks for giving him something you obviously couldn’t.”  Mal attempts to slap the crap outta Dori but she’s too quick for our favorite ritch b!tch.  Dori grabs Mal’s wrist with one hand and slaps the crap outta Mal instead. “—This is what you deserve for two-timing a man like Max!!”  Mal says she wasn’t dating Max at the time.  (Liar, liar, pants on fire!) “--And anyway, I doubt Ari did that; he wouldn't go to bed with you.  You'd give him the plague [also "curse", a smell/stink--your choice]!”   “—You’re trash, Maleny!” Doris says if I’d stayed quite before it was because of Orlando, but since anything goes now, I sure hope you don’t mind it when Max finds out that you were consoling yourself with Ari.  “—Open your mouth and you and Ari will be together—but together in the clink!”  Doris throws the necklace at Mal and starts off down the street, head held high.  (Viewerville does a quick end zone tippy toeing two-step.)

Back in the barrio, Maria Dolores and Julian arrive back at Honoria’s as she’s having a mental breakdown over Fermin’s running away again.  Julian screams back at her why did she had to run his father off again.  MD’shocked to learn about Fermin being his father.  They leave to search for Fermin at AA.

And, across town, Daniel and Ivana are both putting up a great act at being loving newlyweds enjoying a night out to eat.  (Blech.)  Apparently, Iva isn't letting Dan know that she knows that Dan knows she can’t have any more kids because she tells him she doesn’t want him telling her she can have more children as that will make her forget the pain.  “—I won’t forget the child I lost.  One child doesn’t substitute for another."   He frowns while Viewerville marvels at the way she keeps knocking back those copas of champagne.

Meanwhile, Isela walks towards home and notes the sign above Orly’s auto repair saying it’s up for sale [traspasar=to be selling a business].  Claudio drives up as if he’s been secretly following her home.  He silently watches her stare at the shuttered repair shop.

Mal walks into the hotel room where Ari’s been waiting for her.  She slams down her purse and shows him the locket a quick second before throwing it at him.  He ducks but doesn’t say a word and she wonders why.  “—Ok.  So I stole it from you and gave it to Doris.  So what?”  “—You’re actually sleeping with that fatty tub of lard??”  He warns her not to call Doris that.  She goes off on him asking how in the world with somebody like her he’d be interested in somebody like Doris.  He tells her to talk to the hand—or better yet, keep it for Max, and then walks out on her.  She screams at him in the hallways that she’s going to report him to the police.  “—Yeah?  And what’s it going to look like to them when they hear about the way you made me have sex with you at gunpoint?”  She scoffs and says they’d never believe it.  He could tell other details perhaps.  The grin suddenly melts off her smug kisser.  Ari warns her not to ruin their plans, especially her marrying Max.

Ise goes to Orly and starts screaming frantically at him about how he could even think of selling his business.  He tells her the only thing of value in his life is her and she won’t marry him.  She says it’s because she only causes him problems--like her mother being the one to accuse him of hurting Leo.  He knew(?) but didn’t say anything to her because she’s gone back to living with her mother and he didn’t want anything bad to happen to her, he tells her.  She pleads with him that she can go to Claudio and talk with him.

That’s too much for Orly’s masculine pride and he screams she's not to do it.  It's his place and his problem.  ” She has to because she luhhhhhvs him.  Yeah, right says the look on his face.  She starts mackin’ all over him and he—horny as hell for the woman who won’t have him legalmente—cannot resist the irresistible.  They get all hot and bothered and are half-way through the petting stage when Claud gets curious and plays Peeping Tomás through his entry hallway’s window (which is conveniently open for anyone’s viewing pleasure).

Doris, anxious for a convo with her buddy, Orly, sees Claudio (not realizing who he is?) and tries to bang on the door to see if Orly is awake still and will answer.  Claud sneaks away.  Doris is totally unprepared for the half nekkid and sweaty Orlando when he opens his door.  “—Hey, if it’s not important, I uh…am really in the middle of something right now.”  She understands, takes another nice long look, and agrees that maybe tomorrow would be a better time.  Claud’s driven off and Doris figures oh well….

MD and Juli come back home and say nobody in the neighborhood or at AA have seen Ferm anywhere.  They’ll have to wait the proper amount of time before they can report him missing to the police, adds Esperanza who’s been keeping Honoria company.  She and MD leave.

Juli gripes at his mother again for running off a man who was in need.  Honoria screams back as she breaks another glass that he only has seen the pretty and nice side of the man.  He has no idea what she had to live with all these years.  She keeps on breaking dishes and so Juli rushes over to her to ask forgiveness (probably figuring that if he doesn’t stop her his entire savings from the first week of work will have to go to buy a new set of glassware).

By now, Ise is beginning to realize she’s made a mistake with Orly again.  All she can think of his making mad passionate love with Claudio the other night.  She signals it’s over and poor Orly’s left with a bulge in his blue jeans that ain’t goin’ away anytime soon. He forgives her, thinking it’s because she was raped and isn’t ready yet.  She turns insulting and says she’s not going to marry unless he asks for help.  He doesn’t want to sell the shop and where’d they move anyway? Like her mom says: to a worse hole-in-the-wall pigpen that this?

At Honoria’s, she is telling Juli how it was when they first learned about his infirmity.  She’s go from one doctor to another and worry how they’d pay the bills and then wait up endless hours at night for Fermin to come home.  His drinking just got worse and worse.  Then he began to steal the little money she’d managed to save.  “—Seems like your’e talking about an entirely different man.”  “—Yes, the man I fell in love with was very different.”

Doris gets back to her apartment and Ari is there and starts screaming at her about giving back Maleny the necklace.  She slaps him across the chops and yells back how dare he mention that to her (Bravo, Be-Be!)  She clears up the fact that it was Max who noticed and made her realize what was what.  Ari tries to explain  what the two of them are in for.  (We all figure that knowing how crazy Maleny is she might as well have dropped a hornet’s nest on top of them now.)  “—She’s going to turn us in to the authorities as thieves!”  Doris pushes the jerk wad out of the way and storms out.  She hasn’t got time for this B.S.  (Max to the rescue, right, girlfriend?)

Claud’s still cruisin’ the calle looking for Ise to show up—which she eventually does.  He stops and calls over to her.  He tells her he saw her when she went to Orlando’s room.  He gives her back her checks and tells her to keep the money as a wedding gift.  She doesn’t want it.  He tells her to hang on to it.  He won’t pressure Orly to pay Leo’s expenses and their affair is over. Yes, he knows she’ll be happy with Orly.  He wants her to be happy with him because he’s going to be with Alma.  “—Take it!”  He forces the check into her hands and drives off.

Doris sees Ise and goes to chat her up.  Ise says Orly’s alone now so she can go back and talk to him.  He’s fine and he’s not going to sell the repair shop nor be punished for the Leo business.  No, says Doris.  He won’t be fine until she and he are back together again. He’s any woman’s wet dream, right? They could rush and get married. She mentions that Orly told her the paperwork at the marriage licensing department came through.  So, maybe Isa could wait there for him then next day and they could get hitched.....

At the same time, Mal is whimpering and feeling sorry for herself.  She orders a huge bottle of tequila from room service and takes a few swigs.  Then she does some crazy stuff with the liquor bottle, like pouring it into the ice bucket and all over the floor--like she’s planning to frame someone perhaps.  Just then Arango shows up and tries to get her to come back home with him.  Somehow she manages to seduce him and they start necking all over the bed.  Suddenly Arango gets hold of himself, realizes what he’s about to do and stops cold.  He grabs his stuff and races out of the room.  (Bummer.  I was actually hoping to see Arango wreak a bit of havoc by breaking loose and losing that cool of his for once.)
~end parte 1~
===================
Parte 2~

Doris heads straight for MD’s place and cries her eyes out over all the insults she’s had to endure that day.  Espy gets carried away with the insults in discussing Ari’s less desirables until Doris starts giggling her head off and heads for home. (Something must have been lost in translation.)

Max later comes by and takes MarDi to see the city lights from a roadside vista stop off in the hills some place.  He impresses her with champagne and roses.  They discuss her finally learning about Fermin’s true identity then toast to their luhhhv.

Back at Barrio Central, Doris runs into Ise again who’s still morosely meandering the main drag.  Doris feels sorry for her and tells her she can sleep over at her place.   They head off.

Meanwhile, Claudio can’t get the appendage to perform and has to beg forgiveness from a disgusted Alma.  Alma knows what’s up and why Claudio isn’t.  He rolls over and she makes faces in the dark.

The next morning Honoria suggests to Juli that Jenny was the one who told him that Fermin was his daddy.  No, he says.  He was smart enough to put 2 + 2 together and get 4.  (He is an accountant after all, right?)  They commiserate a bit more.  FF>> FF>> (This part of the story boors me to death but honestly I cannot stand the low murmurings this actress calls delivering her lines.  Somebody should have miked her better or increased the audio whenever the woman opens her mouth and offers forth whatever she must consider speech.)

Breakfast of Champions time at los Santaibañez.  Sniping and snipping continue amongst them and poor Mal learns that Max has officially left her in the dust for MD.   She storms off.  Then, Daniel, Arango and Mama Bear discuss how he’s going to get hold of the important bidnez doin’s of Iva’s company if he’s been given an honorary position equivalent of tending the mail room and cleaning toilets.  Arango’s got a plan.  Just ask the employees for assistance and they’re sure to give Ive’s hubby whatever he wants.

Max presides over the signing of the leasing agreement for MD’s tailor shop.  Doris is over at Orly’s for breakfast chitchat.  She gets off the phone with MD and hints broadly that Ise is waiting for him at the marriage licensing office.  “--Race over there and get married already!”  He won’t because he’s decided not to.  Doris just doesn’t understand.

Back at MD’s little shop, Max and she discuss looking for Fermin themselves since the police still won’t get involved.  Espy walks over and talk turns to the friction between their two families.  Max optimistically suggests that the family dinner they’ve been invited to at his parents’ home this evening will clear the air for all involved. Espy and Viewerville are not so sure, but she still gives him one of her hubby’s sailboat collection’s nicest models as a peace offering.

Over at Orly’s place, he’s trying to explain to Dori that he’s got an offer on the repair shop and wants to sign it ASAP.  That means he won’t have a place to bed for the night even let alone anything to offer Isela.  Doris cannot believe he’s going to stand Ise up.   How can he not understand that a woman in love—truly in love—would accept even the humblest of pig sties…er...abodes as long as she is with that man.  She leaves him there with tears running down her cheeks.  Orly bangs his head against the wall because he knows she’s right.

At Duval Designs, Jacinto is now bitching because he has to enter the place through the back door like a thief in the night.  Danny Boy promised him better.  No can do, he says, for now cuz his crazy as a loon wife is liable to gawd knows what.  No matter, Dan still will pay Jacinto well for the crap he’s going to pull on MD for him.  Jac isn’t sure he wants to play games like this because whatever Dan might pay him certainly wouldn’t get him far if it lands him in a pile of legal poo the size he knows it could—and what’s it all necessary for anyway now that he’s part and parcel of Duval, Inc.? Oh, Dan’s got big plans for Jacinto.  It’s all part of the Big Plan and Jac’s Big Important New Position at the place.  So does he want in on it or not?

Over at Bustamonte and Associates, Jenny comes to visit Juli with his new CPA partner in tow.  She surprises Juli with the news that one of the “group” aka AA will be coming by to help with filing.  Juli is  a bit perturbed with the news as he does want to please Jen, keep the peace and just doesn’t argue the point that now someone has to pay the guy for the work.  Well, Jen’s there for another reason:  to tell him Fermin is fine but is not returning to Honoria’s place.

Across town, Ise is waiting for Orly outside the Registro Civil when she gets a call from Josefa.  Jose thinks Ise spent the night with Claudio and is upset to find out Ise lied to her.  “--Actually, Ma, he fired me and ended it with me.  He wants to get back to his life with his wife and wants me to marry Orlando—and that’s what I’m going to do!”  She’s going to get married and forget about Jose, the Bustamontes, her sister—ALL of it.  Her mother is flummoxed and says she’d rather be in jail and they carry out the revenge plot than to have her get married.

Ise continues whimpering on the phone that despite what Mama always says, she does love her.  She is her MOTHER.  She always did what Mama wanted and would have preferred to have lost her virginity to Orly because she loves him.  But, she didn’t.  She gave it to El Bustamonte cuz that's what Mama told her to do, and what a waste, since now she’ll never get to finish their plan for revenge.  Besides, she’ll never have Jose’s approval and affection ever, right?  Not to worry, answers Jose.  “--I’ll finish it once and for all!”  Click.  Ise is now panicked.  Gawd knows what Jose will end up doing!  “--Mama?  Mama????!!!!!”

Thanks for posting discussion space Jardinera! Looking forward to the recap. Specifically because...

O.M.G. Maleny. Maleny and Arango.

Wow.

Hellashelle, at least it didn't go all the way.

I'm still worried that he's her dad

If he were, then I don't think he knows it, judging by his actions.

Woooaahhh! Was that ever unexpected. And SHE called HIM, too. Arango didn't try hard enough to get away once he realized what was on her mind--that is what I saw at any rate!

Yeah.

I don't think he's her father, but just the idea of him getting it on with her is creepy enough. You'd also think he'd know better because he probably knows her better than anyone except Mama Bear.

I am split on whether I want Orlando to show up at the courthouse or not. I kind of want him and Doris to end up together, but he's always loved Isela. But I'm not sure that Isela will ever get over Bustamonte, YUCK! (I have to say yuck every time I write about her feelings for him because it grosses me out.)

I think he and Doris are right, but I still want him to go to the courthouse. It would suck to just be there waiting.

...and he'd never be able to live it down in the barrio. Doris sure gave him a talking to about ceding the auto repair business to someone else. She's right--what is he going to live on once it goes?

Thank you Jardinera. Holy crap Maleny and Arango are getting on it? My guess is Maly is trying to somehow get rid of him sort of like poetic justice for what happened to Hector. But I don't believe that will function.

I am so glad that Max and MD are now together!

So I have just watched the episode and i find it quite shocking that Isela still trusts the Heifer that blindly, I thought that she would get it clear after years of abuse. She plays with fire way too much.

Jacinto is still sludging away to regain his position and Dan obviously has very nasty plans with MD. I cannot know which reptilator is worse ! And we also have not seen the Fat Man in a long time. I meekly hope he returns to aid the good guys even if it is hyper unlikely.

On a different note, I feel bad for MD already. Alma is not going to make this easy.

And Mal's need to be wanted is just sad. Ari and Max, Arango and her dad-it's just...yeah, sad. I wish she had something to occupy her mind, but with Ursula telling her she's an idiot all the time, it's no wonder she's never tried to find something besides staying thin and keeping Max to occupy her time.

I'm kind of surprised that Ari's gained some spine, but given that Doris is hip to his game and he's seen Mal at her craziest, I guess it makes sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if melany was a rangos daughter I wouldn't put it past her witch of a mother to get pregnant for the lawyer and not tell her husband I mean after all there's no telling why that poor man killed himself. She could have gotten pregnant for the lawyer while she was working at the supermarket and then told the poor guy it was his baby just to get him to marry her.

But wouldn't that mean that both Daniel and Maleny are Arango's children? Aren't they supposed to be twins?

Good stuff, Jardinera. See you tomorrow.

I don't think anyone's said they were twins, but that's reasonable; I would believe it. And just to be clear, NO ONE ON THE SHOW HAS SAID OR INDICATED THAT ARANGO IS THEIR FATHER. I feel the need to make this clear since my recap got people thinking Gerry was gay (I think it's since been made clear that he's not).

Anyway, ever since I first saw Dan and Mal, I've been fearing that there's something incestual in their family. This is just because in the first scene I saw them in, they seemed especially touchy, feeley in a more than familal way. A lot of their pushing and shoving does seem purely of the "my-sibling-is-annoying" type, but sometimes, there's a weird vibe to it. Anyway, it's a fear/theory, NOT A FACT. Just wanted to make sure I put that out there.

PS Do you guys think Hon will finally cut Josefa off now that she knows Josefa's willing to mess with her family?

WHAT is up with Hon's treatment of Jenny?! I know she doesn't want to see Julian hurt, I know she's overprotective and I get why, but Jenny is seriously interested! Why wouldn't Hon want Julian to be pursued, especially since she's so gung ho about hating MD for not loving him? It's so messed up that she would try to impede this chance for him just because she's scared that one day they might break up. Julian's far more likely to break Jenny's heart at this point (though, these two have got to get together at some point. They're just too good for each other for it not to happen.)

Also, many kudos to Jenny! She stuck up for her feelings for Julian like a first class protag! Gold star, Jenny!

It's finally up. --I got pissed at Jenny's presumptuous attitude by sticking Juli with some AA member to file or whatever. First off, who is she to stick her oar in somebody else's private company and secondly, to force a worker on the owner, and that meaning that the wages for the afternoon's work have to come out of a very small budget--Juli's measely profits--which are nil at this point!

============
Incest could be an option here re: Mal and Dan. I wouldn't put it past the two of them. I'm sure Arango, secret hot-blooded bad boy in hiding that he is might have gotten it on with URRRRRsula back in the day and that added to the reasons her hubby offed himself. Hell, married to URRRsula I'd have done the same!

Hellashele, the touching thing bothers me too but not so much now. I believe that it is more of showcasing annoyance rather than an incestual attraction .It would be hilarious if Maly and Dan got together in the end making URRRsula croak from a heart attack ( It's more merciful than dying from rat poison) ! Well we know close to nothing about Arango( Small details) but he is very slimy for sure. I wouldnt be surprised at all if he boinked UrRRsula The Maid in Supermarket!

Thanks Jardinera! I totally missed the part where Jenny basically hired a currenty unnecessary assistant for Julian. You're right, that is pretty presumptuous of her.

Good lord, WHEN will they change Julian's hair?! I''m not a huge fan of his style (too grandpa like), but his hair--! I just want to wash out the stylingn product and rample it up! Let your hair live, Julian! Let it breathe! #freeJulian'shair

That being said, the costuming and makeup have been interesting in this show because I find they're well in keeping with the characters. Things that jump out to me:
-Josefa's unrelenting black. It's like she's still in mourning for her daughter, which supports her insane pursuit of revenge in her daughter's name.
-MD's superhigh white heels: Why? I find them weird. They seem impractical for someone who's on her feet so much. I'm assuming it's to minimize the height different with Max and the white, heel strap style is to go along with her innocence?

PS: Speaking of height, I also find the male/female heights in this TN interesting. Most of the ladies seem comparatively tall when next to their leading guys. Ivana is often a little taller than Dan (which is somewhat due to the heels). It's a super minor thing and probably just a unintentional consequence of casting, but I like it. And I like that they don't put the ladies in flats in deference to it.

-Honoria: Everything about Hon's style says long-suffering. The ever present braid. The opaque stockings and sensible shoes. It's like she snuffed out any attention to her appearance beyond the most practical aspects in her focus on Julian. It's not that she's not attractive, it's just that everything she wears screams practical and presentable, sensible and no-nonsense. This is a character I'd really like to see happy.

Thank you Jardinera for a very colorful recap. You have a way with words.

One thing first, Ivana does know that Dan knows she can't have a baby. Keeping her knowledge of it a secret is part of her plan.

I also missed the part about the AA member assisting Julian. And I'm right there with you Hellashelle, change Julian's hair. It's disgusting to me. It looks dirty even if it's not. He looked better in prison.

I think the portrayal of Dan and Mal being touchy is that they want to show them as close twins who have different boundaries than regular siblings, but I don't think they will cross the line of incest.

Will we now get Orlando showing up at the courthouse just in time to overhear Isela tell her mother that she lost her virginity to Claudio?

Jardinera, thank you for hangin in there the recap is imformative and good.
Arango and melany, BIG YUCK!!!!!!
Maybe jenny is going to pay the asistant she
Took upon herself to hire. Juls did seem a
Bit taken back like he was thinkin, "who told you to hire somebody for me"?
And about julian's hair, he's an attractive man, but he Looks bugeyed with his hair slicked back, you're right hellashelle, his hair needs to be set FREEEEEEEE!!!!!! Free your haaaaair!!!!!
And jenny needs to cool it a bit, shes startin to be a bit over bearing, just be patient. It will happen if it's suppose to.
Wouldn't you like to be bug on the wall at that dinner tonite at the Bustamontes, but we're viewerville we'll see it. Becides I don't
Like bugs around food, so this works out just
Fine.
HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY LABOR DAY YALL!

Jardinera--Your recap was sooo worth waiting for. Thank you for all the description, every little detail and aside. I was right with you doing the tippy-toe dance of victory. Doris is becoming the real heart of the novela. Hope she is able to keep it all together for her friends' sakes.

I never thought Mal and Dan were twins--wouldn't we have been told early on? They do act like it, though, or like siblings born very close together and no other children in the family (sort of like mine at 19 months apart). My two never fooled around like Mal and Dan do. As toddlers, they were more like close friends who got along well, shared stuff, argued, fought and made up when it was evident they had more fun when they collaborated. Half a century later, they still are close.

I'm not sure at all why Jenny would place someone from AA with Julian, unless it's a way of helping someone ELSE stay off alcohol by having a small distraction and a small compensation. Remind me, didn't Jenny come to Hon's household to help Fermin--and wasn't that free of charge? The other reason, naturally, is to have an excuse to stop in to see Julian regularly. (And yes, I do wish they would do something about his hair--at least they got him out of sweaters while at work).

And speaking of sweaters, why is MD always in some unattractive cardigan? Clara doesn't wear them, neither does Espy, normally.

The vista from the roadside was sweet and romantic, but when a galan starts saying he'll protect her, defend her, will always be by her side and no one will ever separate them, etc. etc, he should know better (by now)--that's a wake up call and a challenge to Sr. Malasuerte.

Gracias again, Jardinera.

Honoria really needs to get over the whole overprotective thing with Julian. He's an adult and he needs to see that Jenny loves him. Maria Dolores will never feel this way about him and Honoria needs to understand this. She doesn't watch novelas, obviously, or she would know el corazon no se manda/

She also needs to ditch Ho-sefa, who has no conscience and who cannot be trusted to do anything but evil to others.

I too believe that Hon should just dump Josefa since Josefa is pure evil and will only bring bad luck to them. She may not be as an overeaching threat as Ursula but when Josefa gets evil, she really nails it on others. I shudder at the thought of Ursula ,Dan and Josefa joining forces if it ever happens. That would be a fearsome team!

Anita I laughed at "Mr.MalaSuerte"! And yes when the good guys starts promising things early on things may not go as planned :(.

I find it hard to believe that no one called social services on Josefa if Isela has surely been tortured everyday by her. Surely Hon or Espie could have noticed. If not the physical than the mental.

No social services agency cares very much about mental torture, especially of a child. It is so difficult to prove as well. Bruises and broken bones are visible but parents always get away with saying that their children lie if the child tells someone "Mommy sad she hates me and wishes I were dead."

Veronica in PEAM got away with so much because of things like that. Nobody would have believed any reports about such things because that stuff is never done in front of witnesses.

Well I thought it would matter although school teachers could have noticed that something is terribly wrong with the child but they have either not noticed it or ignored it to not stain their reputation. Most of them are powerless in these situations anyway. In my grade school we had a bully problem and you had to be lucky for the staff to do anything concrete about it. In the end they did kick him out eventually . I did not have problems because I pretended to be his friend until I flipped out thus the principal was forced to kick him out. He was just about getting tired of him as well.

UA & CountX--Should doesn't always translate into will or can. Honoria wants to be left in peace, wants to get along with everyone in the vecindad--since they all live pretty close cheek-by-jowl. But after what HoSefa did to Fermin, that ought to pretty much take care of any interaction between them. (I think the statues were from a church and Fermin offered to touch them up. Hon probably saw $$$ signs on having to replace them--or even fessing up they were all broken--and at the time, thought it was a drunk Fermin that did it.)

HoSefa had better be careful, though. After all, Hon knows about the non-daughter thing and with the Fermin-daddy thing is out in the open now, there's nothing HoSefa can hold over her.

I do mean Hon should not have anything more to do with HoSefa. Let's see if she's strong enough to go through with severing the "relationship."

Isela needs to know about Ho-sefa not being her egg donor. That might be what it takes for her to get away from her.

Now that Josefa can't hold the secret of Julian's father over Honoria's head, then maybe Honoria will be willing to tell Isela about her mother the next time Josefa does something to warrant it.

Thanks, Jardinera. Terrific recap.

Maleny and Arango, eeeoooh. I wasn't ready for that. Maleny thinks she's on to all her mother's tricks, but it seems it never occurred to her that Ursula might've cheated with Arango back in the day.

Maleny has insinuated that her mom and Arango have more going on than they let on. Whether or not she thinks it's personal or just business is ambiguous.

I'm not sure Isela's cutting Josefa out would be so clear cut. The woman did raise her. It's gonna take a lot of build up - ruining Claudio's life, framing Orlando, almost killing Leo and whatever else she's about to do to - a LOT to get past the lifetime of brainwashing.

Thank you for the recap Jardinera.

I think that those living in the vecindad probably prefered not to get in trouble by calling the police on Josefa about her mistreatment of Isela. There was also a huge problem of kids living in the street in Mexico City back in the 90's (the theme was touched in several telenovelas, Televisa even had one where it was the central subject: "Los Hijos de Nadie") so they probably thought that Isela at least had a home and food and that they could provide for her if she needed help, while the system was flooded with kids living in not the best condition and dealing with many lof them escaping to go live on the street.

I didn't get the incesty vibe from Daniel and Maleny, more like they act like spoiled children and their physical interactions were simmilar to those of two kids fighting instead of adults.

Jarocha

Jarocha, this might be a culture gap thing. In the US we are much less touchy-feely with blood relatives and this kind of interaction between a brother and sister looks creepy to us. We are also factoring in that this family situation is extremely sick and that Maleny is the most mentally ill of the three.

Urban, it may be. My family is very touchy-feely, especially my mom, my sister is the only one who gets uncomfortable with hugs or kisses with those who aren't her parents, so of course I do that to annoy her sometimes, heh.

Jarocha
