What will they say about him?

When that launch comes he'll hear
"What an awesome engineer!"
Why'd they e-ver doubt him?

Edwina cares for him, and science
It's quite an alliance
He waaaaaaaaaaaaas so sad and lonely

#90 Monday 10/26
Sooo…

I didn’t pay close attention so this is more like a short series of impressions today. An impressionist recap if you will. A suggestion of detail. Bullet Pointilism.

• Anto doesn’t want to leave the San Gaspar plant. He wants to finish what he started.

• Rafa has a cat. Yeah. That’s something important. Marina is taking care of it. (Yup. These are my priorities.)

• Marina meets with Nacho and tells him how bad things are at the plant. They’ve got 6 months to turn things around. Anto might not even be coming back from the DF. Sara overhears the conversation.

• Sara has a very sad. She tells Padre V, Simon, Bruno, Javi and Juancho about the news.

• Titina and her friend run into Pepe. Pepe is surprised at the news that Sebas left for good. Titina’s friend figures out that Marina lied about Sebas going back to the DF.

• Ric sends the incriminating pictures to Anto’s engagement party. Ema sees them. She’s furious, but unfortunately her husband in in too deep with Guillermo. Without that business connection, Ema and Reynaldo (is that his name?) would be sunk.

• Ema makes snide remarks to Isa. It doesn’t seem to Ema that Isa is all that sorry the marriage hasn’t taken place yet. Isa wonders to Nat if Ema knows about Ric. Nat doesn’t think so.

• Anto is massively late for his own engagement party. He brings Sebas and Rafa along. Reynaldo and Anto’s sister (talk about a blast from the past) are very kind and gracious. They are the classy ones. I found Rafa to be very charming.

• Isa has to provide the ring for the engagement. Sad...except it’s not.

• Guillermo again offers Anto a chance to work with him.

• Reynaldo tells Anto to stop worrying about the San Gaspar plant. The gas robbery was a problem before he got there. It’s not his fault it wasn’t taken care of. Anto still feels like a failure.

• Sara and the San Gaspar Gang call Anto and give him a pep talk. They each speak to him in turn. It brings tears to Anto’s eyes. They play some cumbia in honor of him. Javi can move. The scene made my eyes a little moist too. It was such a contrast to all the scenes from the DF. The San Gasp folks were all about “We support you! You are not a failure! We want you back!” and the folks in the DF just ignore Anto’s feeling responsible for things at the plant.

• Sebas and Nat kiss. Then she comes to her senses and tells him she’ll never forgive him. Good.

• Anto and Isa make it official. He slips the ring on her finger. She announces that they are getting married in a month and a half. Anto looks sick.

I'm watching now. OMG. Worst engagement party, ever.

Tonio, his dad and sister are so nice. How is his mom such a witch?

Sara- Love that after I wrote my comment, I found your great impressionist recap. I'm still watching. The only thing I would as is that Tonio told his boss that if he's not left in charge of the San Gaspar plant, then he quits Conatrol.

Add not as.

Thanks, Vivi!!!

Please feel free to add details, amiguis!

Sara- Nothing else to add. You covered it all well, amiga.

Poor Antonio really did look like he was about to be sick at the proposal. Why does he do this to himself? I also got teary during the pep talk from the SG folks. So sweet.

I thought it was interesting when Nat and Isa blew off the suspicion that Emma knows about Ric, because "no mother would permit that to happen to her son." Well, unless that mother is Emma, and decides to put her financial needs ahead of her son's happiness.

Tonio's sister needs to dump her boyfriend. I didn't like him when we met him way back when, and his second impression on me was no better.

Gracias, Sara! I like your description "bullet pointilism" :D

I was just watching along and I said it out loud "Rafa has a cat!" like, seriously, biggest news in the whole show :D Now I want to actually see the cat!

And I'm in love with Ema's dress, I just wanted it to be a little bit shorter.

And I also teared up when then whole SG gang called Antonio for moral support.

I like how they're playing the Nat/Sebas thing. And dreading that Titina still isn't giving up.

Thanks, Sara!
Ha ha, an impressionist recap :-)

Say, did you guys see the part where Ema dissed the San Gasparinos right in front of Rafa? That was low.

Denise

Denise- Yeah. And Tonio's sister's boyfriend did it too. Isabel was no better in her treatment of Rafa, but I guess she could use the excuse that she was mad at Tonio for being late. The three of them need to take a flying leap or learn some manners.

I also forgot to mention that Sara is worried that if Conatrol closes, that will be a probablem for the restaurant.

I'm watching today's episode now. Ramon is on my sh*t list.

I'm watching now too, and ITA, Ramon is on my sh*t list too. So is Quique, and Ema. Anto's dad is getting real close to that list this episode.

Mariana shot up to the top of my mensch list this episode. She and Marina are two gals you'd want watching your back.

David made it onto my radar, too!

Ah yes. Just got to David's scene. If only he wasn't Ric's minion. He did earn some of my respect.

Dammit! I wish Pepe had gone to Tonio before stopping to chat with Nelson.

If Rosa wants Cheo, she can have him!

#91 Tuesday 10/27 Another Quickie.
Anto puts a ring on it and then looks sick.

Rick thinks about the pictures he sent and expects the engagement will be called off. Pedro calls. Rick still doesn’t know anything for sure, but it looks pretty certain that Rick will be the new head of Conatrol-San Gaspar.

Quique haz a jealous.

Rafa is worried for Anto. Ramon the Revolutionary Hottie Hothead has whipped the proletariat into a frenzy and they are out for the blood of the capitalist bourgeoisie (aka Antonio.)

Isa gets huffy with Anto after the party. She tells him not to bother coming to her apartment. She just wants to be alone.

Sebas tries to talk to Nat and suggests a kiss. She slaps him. Yay!

Ema continues to fume about the engagement party. Now she’s pissed at that tipa esa Sara for calling. She browbeats Reynaldo. He says he’ll go Lic Uribe tomorrow and ask that Anto be brought back to the DF. Thank goodness Mariana is eavesdropping.

Hey, Vivi--Anto didn’t like Mariana’s boyfriend either!

Quique haz a jealous.

Isa is going to make Anto decide: The plan or her!

Anto ponders having only a month and a half left to live. Oh...wait...he’s talking about when he gets married. My bad.

Mariana calls Anto the next morning and warns him about their father going to see Lic Uribe.

Ramon has seen a picture of Anto, Sebas and Rafa in the paper. Since Rafa seems to be having a good time that *has* to mean that he’s a traitor to the cause. Ramon makes copies of the pictures and writes the word vendido (sell-out).

Sara haz a sad when she sees the engagement party story in the paper.

Cheo haz a gloat when he sees the engagement party story in the paper.

Quique haz a jealous.

#91 Tuesday Parte 2
Ramon hands Marina one of the Vendido pics of Rafa.

Rafa is asked to work with David on the information from the sensors. Anto asks Ligia to call security. He wants them to advise him as soon as his dad arrives.

Cheo calls El Molcajete looking for Rosa. He wants her help planning a surprise party for Sara. To herself, Rosa muses that Cheo is a great guy and can’t figure out why Sara keeps giving him a hard time.

Anto stops his father before he can get to Lic Uribe. They have a long scene about Sara and Anto’s professional life. The takeaway is this: Anto’s family can’t understand why he is so determined to keep the plant open. Anto can’t understand why he can’t seem to get any support from his family. They have no right to meddle in his professional life. As for Sara, at least she has been supportive!

Titina’s brother asks if she’s pregnant. She says of course not! She wonders why she hasn’t heard from Pepe. He should have found out by now if Sebas is really gone for good.

Rick finds out the engagement is still on and wonders if the photos even arrived.

Ema wonders if the photos could be photoshopped. She remembers seeing Isa smooching on the street. Ema assumes that’s the guy that sent the pictures.

Reynaldo still gets in touch with Lic Uribe. Lic will do what he can, but really it’s up to the Sidges dude.

Marina warns Rafa about Ramon’s shenanigans.

Ric asks David if they found out anything about the sensors, then warns David that Rafa is gay. David doesn’t give a hoot. Rid yourself of Rick, David!

Anto learns that Rafa is being called a traitor. Anto is angrier than ever. They have to find the informant. Lic Uribe wants to see Anto.

Pepe finds out about the Vendido pics and confronts Ramon. Pepe defends Rafa. Ramon punches him. Pepe rants about it to Nelson. Pepe blames all the awful stuff on the informant. If the mole wasn’t passing info to the saqueadores, none of this would be happening. Pepe swears if he finds the guy, it’s over.

Reynaldo tells Ema about his conversation with Anto. Ema calls Isa and tells her to give Anto an ultimatum.

Serena reports to her boss. Wow. She says Simon is not real organized. Something about he won’t be able to launch his rocket (watch it, chica. I’m sure his rocket works just fine.) Edwina has a new hairdo and it is very nice. She asks Serena what she’s up to. She seems pretty suspicious of her. Simon arrives and he LOVES Edwina’s new look. His eyes are full of the sparkle. Edwina keeps it professional and avoids his kiss in greeting.

OO! OO! Dude says something to Pepe about the anomalies with the sensors. Didn’t Nelson tell him?? No, he didn’t. Pepe asks to see the reports.

Sara calls Anto. She just wants to apologize for their call the night before. Isa interrupts their call. Anto hangs up. Isa yells at Anto. No way is he returning to San Gaspar. They have a fight. RPC.

Pepe excitedly tells Nelson that they have proof that the sensors were tampered with! Nelson confesses that he’s the informant!

Wow! What an ending!

Excellent, Sara! Yeah, what an ending. I hope Pepe punches Nelson a few times. But we just know he's not going to turn him in. *sigh*

I would just like to point out that Anto didn't hang up on Sara when Isa rudely interrupted. He politely put Sara on hold, told Isa to chill, she walked out, and he calmly went back to his conversation with Sara and wrapped it up, before going to see Isa. This is quite a change from the old days when he would have guiltily just hung up on poor Sara to keep Isa happy and appeased.

Súper, Sara!

Love how you said, " Ramon the Revolutionary Hottie Hothead has whipped the proletariat into a frenzy and they are out for the blood of the capitalist bourgeoisie (aka Antonio.)" Ha ha ha. Loved your rocket reference too.

Yes! Nelson told somebody, and that somebody was Pepe! I'm counting on Pepe to do something good and right with this information.

Denise

Thanks, Denise. I confess I may have been under the influence of last night's episode of Celia when I wrote that line about revolutionaries.

Vivi- Anto feels the feels for Sara. Isa sees it, his parents see it, we see see it. Why can't Anto? Why does he continue this ridiculous "friends" charade?

Sara I like your bullet pointillism
great job
and thank you

will get back when I've had a chance to read more

Daaaaaang, I just finished watching today's episode. I'd been reading the comments and now that I've seen it...our lists coincide.

Sara, gracias for the Tuesday action ;)

"Quique haz a jealous." Copy, paste, copy, paste, copy, paste. Sorry, but he is just not the right guy for Rafa.

"Ramon the Revolutionary Hottie Hothead" damn him for being so frickin' hot, but such a frickin' hothead!

"To herself, Rosa muses that Cheo is a great guy and can’t figure out why Sara keeps giving him a hard time." I give him to you with my blessing, Rosa. Go have gorgeous babies with fabulous curls.

"watch it, chica. I’m sure his rocket works just fine" Damn right it does! Serena looks like she'd like to shove Edwina and Simon in the rocket together until they quit denying their love and get that rocket launched ifyouknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo. I'll slip her a $20 to do it.

"Nelson confesses that he’s the informant!" No puede ser! OK, can't wait for tomorrow, now! I hope he doesn't take it back.

Pepe's on such a reasonable streak, I hope he convinces Nelson to go to Fidel. Or goes to Fidel himself.

Thank you, sneaky! Any news on the raisins?

Thank you, 5ft! There seem to be a lot of reasonable characters in this novela. It balances out the Isa and Titina I guess.

Oh my gosh, Kat. The curls Rosa and Cheo's babies would have would be off the charts. They'd be adorable.

And both parents seem to know how to work with curls, so no worries that the child would end up with seaweed curls a la Aitana from MIVAC.

The actor playing Cheo is very cute to me. 90% of it is that hair.

Off topic: But speaking of babies, I stumbled onto one of those laughing baby videos yesterday, and I can't resist sharing. It's in Spanish, so it sort of fits. :) https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=101&v=eFMJd3UUMBw

Omigosh that is too cute! Thanks Vivi! That gave me a smile this gray, rainy morning.

Yeah, it's pretty gray and rainy here too, and it was good to start my morning sharing a laugh with that cute, tramposa baby.

And speaking of babies, I was very glad that Titina told her brother that she is in no way pregnant, and she looked pretty sure about that. It's not that I was relieved for SebAss, but no baby deserves to be born into Titina's obsession with snagging a well-off dude who will take her to D.F.

Cheo's a good looking guy...until he starts acting like a jerk!

I don't know if I believe Titina. And I guess it's "ever" because I didn't believe her when she hinted to her brothers about the mystery thing that supposedly "unites" her and Chebi forever, and now I don't believe her when she says she's not pregnant.

Cheo is a jerk. Javier Jattin is the cutie. :-)

Housekeeping -

Pasión y Poder primeres next week and I'm not sure what that means for our small band of merry vecinas. I'm pretty sure we don't need recaps, but I also understand that we get behind.

Should we continue as we are? Is there another way we could do this? I welcome your thoughts and ideas. I definitely want to see this to the end. So far it has kept my interest the whole time and I hope that continues.

Sara- I definitely think we should continue. This is such a cute little tn. We don't have to recap every day. Just comments is fine.

Ok. Just watched the epi.

Am I wrong, or are they slowly building a vibe between David and Rafa? Quique needs to go away now.

SebAss just doesn't get it, does he? He really doesn't seem to understand how deeply he hurt Nat. And no, if Nat started dating someone it would bot be payback, SebAss. She is single and wouldn't be cheating on anybody.

Finally, someone calls Isa on her hypocrisy. Too bad it was Emma, who could also easily medal in the hypocrisy Olympics.

What will it take for Tonio to realize the the only woman he should be marrying is the one who actually makes him happy- Sara?

Worried for Laura (and Bruno). Liked how Pepe dealt with Nelson, but think the more time Anto and Rafa are away, the less likely he will tell them what's up with Nelson. Loving how things are back on track with Edwina and Simon.

I don't think I could do without this show! I still want to recap it (probably usually on Thursdays!) but mostly for my own amusement :D

Well, Rafa is pretty reserved, so I guess there could be a vibe. And they would have work in common. But David's awfully young for him. Not that Quique behaves like he's much older. I dunno. I could be ok with a relationship or just friends.

I think Nelson knocked it out of the park with the confession to Pepe.

Thanks for your input, Vivi. I was halfway through the episode and Offspring called to tell me about a job interview she had and we started gabbing. I'm going to finish watching now and put some bullets up, but it might not be until the morning.

I did get to the part where Rafa and David were at lunch. I got a vibe, but what's the age difference? Rafa said he'd been with Conatrol 20 years and David 2?

This is such a delightful show to me so I'm wanting to keep it going, but I don't want any of us feeling like we *have* to recap to keep it going. We're going to be hitting the busy time of year and I know it's going to be harder to keep recaps going on this, a non-primetime show with (supposedly) less star power. Even reading the comments and reactions of the patio is fun.

That being said (rambled is more like it) I want to say again how much I appreciate the patio and all the recaps that have been done. Anyone who wants to recap is always welcome to. I will still ask every week if anyone wants to.

Look at us crossing comments, Kat. (I was pecking away on my phone when the notification came through.

The Pepe/Nelson scene was really well done. This show is reminding me why I like TNs.

I promise to honestly say "no" when I can't do it! :D Good luck to Offspring on the job interview!

I'm guessing the age difference is somewhere around 20 years, give or take 4 to account for Conatrol not being one or the other's first job, and the need for maybe more schooling on David's part, since he's in an executive position?

#92 Wednesday
Er...so I may have overslept this morning. I have one bullet:

• Anto is going back to San Gaspar. He has one last chance to stop the saqueadores.

Sara- That's good enough for me. :) Well done!

Agreed, that was the important thing! And they sure did spend the entire episode stalling on that reveal. I was holding my breath again...which is silly because, of course Uribe wasn't going to waste time sending Ric or anybody else and them having to start over!

Hi Gang. Love all your comments.
I get the impression that Rosa really likes Cheo. I'm wondering if the writers are working towards something there. Same with Rafa and David.

Denise

Sara - thanks for a great recap for Tues and yeah Wednesday's bullet pretty much covered it
I hate the suspense, but I love it too, ya know?

____
I need recaps! you guys always seem to understand the stuff I miss
I hesitate to say I can do more recaps but I can try for next Tues

_____
Diva
"Ramon the Revolutionary Hottie Hothead" damn him for being so frickin' hot, but such a frickin' hothead!
Amen!

____
Raisins
They're done! They actually got done Saturday? Sunday? anyway, I put a new batch in and moved on to making elderberry cough syrup, and croissants this week

La Vecina #93 Th 10/29/15 Part 1

First, Business

Conatrol DF: Antonio is still in charge at San Gaspar…yay! And he has six months to save the plant…*gulp!* Ric is no longer on the sensor project. He's investigating alternative distribution strategies in case Antonio can't save the plant. That leaves Sebastian to take over the sensor installation, er, stuff *from the DF.* And Rafa will now have to handle the community outreach project, on top of his usual stuff. As soon as Antonio and Rafa get back to SG, they'll tell the employees everything--no more trying to hide it from them.

Saqueadores: Pedro gets his hands on a guy who was driving a truck of unauthorized stolen gasoline, and the guy finally gives him a name. He gets the Conatrol news from Ric and contemplates killing Antonio again.

The Rocket: Juancho is in charge of getting sponsors for the rocket. Psst, Juancho: call Viagra and Cialis! Edwina will check with the bank. She jokes they'll have so many sponsors, they'll need a second rocket! Edwina! You sly thing ;) Serena's boss doesn't like the idea of the publicity. He warns her it won't look good of an amateur gets a rocket off the ground and it's HER job to keep that from happening.

El Molcajete: Six months for Conatrol means only six months for El Molcajete. But, hey, Juancho will give her a free space on the rocket, and the tourists should help bring in money, right?

La Vecina #93 Th 10/29/15 Part 2

Next, Pleasure…or not

Laura and Bruno: Laura's ok with the sort of vague flirting, but having Bruno ask her "What if I DID have feelings for you?" she freaks.

Laura and Pedro: He's his usual abusive self and she's tolerating it less and less. Only her little hydroponic plant gives her any joy.

Titina: She tells her brothers she's pregnant (her lips were moving…I don't believe her) and they promise to get Chebi to marry her.

Isa and Antonio: Isa wants Antonio to buy a house in San Gaspar so she doesn't have to live in the apartment and has room to work and entertain visitors. Of course, it has to be FAR from Sara's place. She's going to keep the apartment for when she's back in the DF and let Natalia keep living there.

Sara and Cheo: Cheo makes yet another surprise visit--this time for dinner and dancing. He kept her out until 4am. He tells Roque the evening didn't go quite as he planned. It's not Simon's rocket that's having trouble launching, ifyouknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo.

Antonio and his dad and Guillermo: No, Antonio won't be accepting a deal from his dad and Guillermo. Nor can he meet to discuss it over lunch, because he's back in the SG! Guillermo's not worried--six months pass quickly.

Antonio and Sara: She's like…really happy he's back. And is her usual supportive self. She's going to throw him a Welcome Back dinner.

Ric and Isa: They happen to be in the same restaurant and he can't resist going over to torment her--about them, about her and Antonio, about Antonio and Sara. She tries to get a refund on her blackmail money, since he sent the photos anyway, but he says she should consider it payment for "services rendered." He tells her everything he knows about the time Antonio tried to get Sara hired and her trip to the DF, including that she ran into Ema. It's all news to Isa. By the time the woman from the gallery shows up to meet Isa, she can barely listen to her.

La Vecina #93 Th 10/29/15 Part 3

And today's big news, the return to Conatrol SG

Antonio gets a chilly reception, but at least Pepe and Nelson are happy to see Rafa. Marina hugs Antonio and he hardly knows how to react!

All the employees meet outside, so Antonio can explain that they only have 6 months to save the plant and why. Antonio is hopeful they can turn things around, but if not, he commits to getting as many of them transferred to other plants and offices as he possibly can. Stinkin' Ramon keeps up a steady stream of snark and downright rudeness, even going so far as to say that if the gasoline thefts are SO bad and they're SO convinced there's a mole, then Antonio should have an idea of who it is. (That makes no sense. His brain must be overheating from being required to keep his shirt on.) He complains that if thefts are up, it's because Antonio has been more concerned with the radio getting turned down, the A/C getting fixed, and Ramon keeping his shirt on. Antonio won't lower himself to argue, but Rafa and Marina are more than happy to step in. That makes Ramon turn on Rafa, Pepe turn on Ramon, and a general riot breaks out! Security and Antonio's bodyguards have to step in.

Antonio feels like he made a mistake now, telling them everything. Rafa tells him they'll find the mole and things will calm down. Pepe encourages Nelson to talk to Antonio…but he gets A CALL…dun, dun, dun!

FIN

I guess that first paragraph is really more about the news filtering out through the rest of Conatrol and the non-Conatrol peeps. We already knew yesterday :D Antonio even pulled that serious face fake-out on Rafa and Sebastian who were having to wait for him to get out of the meeting.

Sneaky, that's great news about the raisins! And the elderberry cough syrup sounds delicious, though I guess I probably shouldn't be thinking of just drinking it, huh? :D

Had to look it up, since Mr. 5ft was doubting the existence of the Mexican Space Agency (that sadly, does not have the acronym MASA) and sure enough, they exist. I don't know if their description is just very clunky or if my translation was bad...I can understand it on a word level and a phrase level, but some of my sentences were wonky. Basically, I think it boils down to, they recognize the importance of space-based research, particularly in medicine, and they're also interested in research of the earth FROM space to look into things like environmental contamination and climate change, and they do build things like satellites. It sounds to me like, if there was a private citizen building a rocket, they wouldn't try to stop them, but would partner with them to make it happen, but who knows if I'm reading it right!

Agencia Espacial Mexicana

Another winner, Kat! Thank you! You really are the queen of the snark.

"Psst, Juancho: call Viagra and Cialis!" Yes!! Especially considering what the sketches seem to make the rocket look like. (Yeah. I went there.)

"Edwina! You sly thing ;)" I read that in Peppermint Patty's voice.

"Only her little hydroponic plant gives her any joy." Wasn't that just the saddest scene? I really hope she gets away from Pedro....alive.
_______________
Thanks for the raisin report, sneaky! I'm glad it was a success.

You don't have to worry about a complete absence of recaps. I do plan to at least get highlights up and with the comments, we'll all figure it out. I have the most trouble with the business/saqueadores convos so I'm always glad when we all work together to figure them out.
_____________
Is it stupid how much I love the rocket story?

______________
Does anyone else think that Titina didn't even consider the pregnancy thing until her brothers said something? I feel like when she had her tummy troubles and made her comment about having something that would bind her and Chebi together forever she wasn't even thinking pregnancy. Then her brother said something and she was pretty definite about denying it.

It's just that I can see her sitting in her room going "yeah....this could work..."

________________
Denise: Rosa does seem to be showing a lot of interest in Cheo. She's just so nice. I hate to see her end up with him!

Sara, "Especially considering what the sketches seem to make the rocket look like. (Yeah. I went there.)" Thanks for saying it first. I wonder if they made rocket jokes on set, too, cause...WOW did it look like that!

"It's just that I can see her sitting in her room going 'yeah....this could work...'" Oh, hell yeah. She probably figures he'll get back into town, she'll have him bathed and brought to her tent, and ta-da! Pregnant!

Diva great recap Thank you

I am so sad for Laura right now I cant even

___
don't tell anyone but I sometimes use the 'cough syrup' for pancake syrup
its versatile!

____
The whole rocket storyline (and the jokes) is what makes this show so fun

Thanks, Diva. Totally a fun read.
My fav: "Cheo makes yet another surprise visit--this time for dinner and dancing. He kept her out until 4am. He tells Roque the evening didn't go quite as he planned. It's not Simon's rocket that's having trouble launching, ifyouknowwhatimeanandithinkyoudo."

Yeah, when I saw the drawing of the rocket, I thought, okay, the writers are having just as much fun with this story line as we are.

Denise

Kat- Amiga, I like the way your brain works. :) Thanks for this fun, and funny recap.

Yeah, my mind went there too when I saw Juancho's rendering of the rocket. The writers are totally in on the joke. :)

I just want Laura out of her situation with Pedro, but I don't see that happening until Pedro is dead. Otherwise she (and Bruno) will be the dead ones. First step perhaps, should be her telling Padre everything about her miserable and abusive marriage.

Vivi-Padre Vicente would be the perfect person to talk to.

Thank you, sneaky! Elderberry syrup on the pancakes? Just call it "preventive medicine!"

Thank you, Denise! I agree, they must be having fun...and it shows in the rest of the show, too!

Thank you, Vivi! So many potential slogans, so little time....

Sara, I'd just be afraid Padre V would try to go after Pedro :(

Elderberry wine!!! Not so good for pancakes, but enough would make you forget your cough.

La Vecina, Friday, 10/30 Part 1

We’re picking up the action where Nelson’s cell phone rings, and Pepe says, “Don’t answer it!” Nelson obeys and they head to Anto’s office so that Nelson can confess. Outside of Anto’s office Marina picks up a call from Anselmo and says, “Oh, here he is now,” and hands the phone to Nelson. Nelson has no choice but to agree to see Pedro. So the confession is temporarily scuttled.

Isabel accepts a cup of coffee from Nati and tells her of her, Isa’s, encounter with Ricardo. Ricardo has convinced Isa that Antonio’s interest in returning to San Gaspar is all about hooking up with Sara.

As Antonio leaves the plant, Ramón continues to dis him to his coworkers. Elías sees Anto leave, and reports this to Pedro.

Isa continues surmising to Nati about Sara and her character. She was even seen at a restaurant with Sebastian! One things for sure, comments Isa, Ema’s interest in Isa and Anto’s relationship has dollar signs all over it.

Ligia has received a fax from the security detail at San Gasp telling about the mini “motín”(uprising) at the plant. Slick Ric overhears her telling Sebas about it.
Ric laughs and gloats, but does not decide to tell Uribe at this point.

Sara and Rosa are making preparations for the Welcome Home, Antonio dinner that Sara has planned. Sara calls Bruno and asks if he has followed through with what she asked him to do. Very mysterious.

Cut to Bruno. He is trying to burn a CD or a DVD when Laura rings his phone. He stammers incoherently. She asks to see him. He tries to apologize for hinting at his feelings the day before. She tells him not to apologize and to just promise her that she will never lose the relationship she has with him. He is stunned and delirious.
Enter Simón and Juancho. “What’s with your ‘cara de bobo’(dumbstruck face)?” asks Juancho. “Nothing, help me with this CD.”

Fidel enters the restaurant where Anto has gone to get away from things. Anto laments to Fidel about the way things are going at the plant.

Uribe finally gets to speak to Anto on the phone. Anto brings him current. Uribe still expresses faith in Anto.

Chepe informs everyone at Simón’s apt that Anto is in the building! Antonio seeks out Chepe and asks “Gee, did I hear cumbia music? It sounds really good to me right now.” Chepe says that Anto is turning into one of them now. Chepe helps Anto bring stuff up to his apt. Passing Sara’s door, Anto comments that the complex is so quiet – as if nobody even lived there. Chepe says, “There’s just no way to keep you happy. If we make noise, you complain or even call the police.” Anto laughs affectionately. “Well, if you can’t beat ‘em, join em!” “Yeah,” agrees Pepe, “that’s why I married my wife!”

Rafa and Marina are at Rafa’s chismeando about things at the plant. Things are bad. Cross your fingers it gets better or we’re all going to be “chiflando en la loma.” (pretty much “we’re screwed.”)

Anto, now inside his apt., again comments to himself about how quiet it is. Has Sara forgotten she invited him to dinner? He will shower and change. Sebas calls. The plant. The motín. Things are worse than ever.

Pedro is holding a foto of Nelson’s little girl. “Anselmo,” he says, “What would you do if I showed you a photo of your little girl.” “Whatever you say,” is the reply.
Then he holds up a picture of Sara and basically asks the same thing and gets the same reply. (Recapper creeped out.)

La Vecina, Friday Part 2

[Theme song] Hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Hmm.

Anto is out of the shower and is deciding what to where. Not much happening here.

Rafa and Marina are still chatting. Marina: “What is el Ingeniero’s family like?”
Rafa: “His Dad and sister are nice, but the one who has the character of a badly paid sargent is his Mom.” Marina: “So that’s where he gets it!”
Doorbell rings. It’s Quique – who else? We get the usual scene with Quique doing the Spanish Inquisition, and Rafa parrying questions and demanding that his boyfriend stop pestering him at work.

David responds to Slick Ric’s summons. Ric: “I want you to go to San Gaspar to keep an eye on everything that Andrade does. Our pretext will be that you are seeing how to relocate employees in case the plant closes.” David: “No no. Don’t involve me in people’s personal business.” Ric: “You’ll do as I say, or you’ll be unemployed.”

Sebas is at Isa and Nati’s door. Is Nati home?
--No, she went out with...umm... Robert. She said not to wait up for her.
--She would never sleep with someone she just met!
--Oh, no? Why? Is that a privilege that is uniquely yours?
Sebas leaves disgusted. Nati emerges from behind a wall and laughs it up with Isa. Yes, she still loves him, but he’s going to suffer just much as she did before he makes any progress.

Nelson waits in the dark until Anselmo arrives to pick him up. Where is Pedro?
--I’m taking you to him. Get on the floor of the car - just as a precaution.

Anto emerges from his apt dressed “como turista americano” (His words to Sara back when they were first stranded in the hick town on their “lost weekend.”)
When Sara answers her door, “their” music plays and Anto is rendered breathless at her beauty. When they enter the apartment, Bruno puts on Anto’s favorite classical music. He is touched. The guys all have their hair slicked back, and they look delicious.

Sebas is suspicious. Hmmm. He goes to the intercom and calls Isa’s apt. “¿Quién?” “Your neighbor from apt 302.(In a silly falsetto voice.) Your roommate left her car lights on and I wouldn’t want to see her battery run down.” “I’ll tell her.” “Ah hah!” smiles Sebas.

Nelson wants to know when they are going to get wherever it is they’re going. “¡Cállate la boca!” is the reply.
Pepe is worried about Nelson, as well he should be. Titina calls him. Where is Chebi? “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Pepe gets her off the phone.

Nati comes out to see about her car, and Sebas of course is there. He grabs her and kisses her she relents and then fights him off. “Are you now my stalker?”
“Yes, if I have to be.”

Juancho wants to know what kind of lame food he is looking at. It’s “molecular food” that Sara has spent the day preparing. They all laugh when Juancho says,”Where’s the beef?”

Sebas is still trying to convince Nati that his penance should be over.
“I told you – I was drunk. It’ll never happen again.”
“Ah, so since I’m down here anyway, I’ll just go to a bar, get drunk and who knows, I’ll just “ligar” with some guy I pick up!”
“Nati, you wouldn’t!”
Nati gets in her car, and drives away.

La Vecina, Friday Part 3

Wait. Nati didn’t drive away? Sebas is standing in front of her car, impeding her egress. A police car drives up. Police get out.
Nati – Officer, Officer! This “tipo” tried to assault me! Thank goodness you’re here!
Sebas – No, Officer, let me explain. You see...
Sebas fakes the officer out and runs off.

At the Welcome Antonio Dinner, Anto is appreciative of Sara’s exquisite “molecular” food, her unwavering support and for the warm friendship of the present company. Juancho is not so sure about the dinner. He would much prefer a “tortuga milanesa.”

Nati and Isa are laughing about Sebas’ “fuga” from the police. Isa says that if they catch him he will for sure spend some quality time with his new friends the police. Nati is suddenly worried. She runs to get her phone. Sebas called! But now he doesn’t answer. She prays that he’s alright.

Sebas is in a jail cell, and here comes David to spring him from the long arms of the law. During their conversation, David tells Sebas that he’s going to San Gaspar on a mission for Ricardo. Sebas opines that at least David will get a welcome break from Slick Ric.

Nelson is ushered into Pedro’s den. As in “lion’s den.” Nelson tells Pedro about the unrest at the plant and how they have just six months to turn things around before the uppy ups pull the plug on the plant. Pedro threatens Nelson with harming his family, his little girl, if he should ever fail to pick up his phone call again. ( Double creeped out this time.)

At the dinner Sara and Antonio mutually appreciate each other while the others are laughing and drinking. (Javier is the most convincing inebriated person this recapper has ever seen.) Everyone toasts Antonio – even Juancho toasts the “Güerito desabrido.”

Nelson is crying. Pedro pumps him for more information. Nelson seems too nervous to him.
Nelson – No, there’s no way they can detect the alteration of the sensors!
Pedro – What I want to know is that you will remain “callado”. Because if you don’t...(He holds up the photo of Nelson’s little girl.)

Cue the music.

Great job, Denise!! You got a real roller coaster of an episode and you served it up with style. Thank you!

"Recapper creeped out./Double creeped out this time." *shudder* Pedro is scary as hell. He can go away now. Poor Nelson!!

"The guys all have their hair slicked back, and they look delicious." Didn't they??? Yum!

"David will get a welcome break from Slick Ric." Please let this mean that he will also develop a spine not be Rick's lackey any more!! David is not so bad when he's not under Rick's influence.

"Javier is the most convincing inebriated person this recapper has ever seen." WORD. But he was also still articulate. Too many actors slur their words too much!

Thank you again, Denise! You and the other patio peeps make this show so much fun!

Ooops! Extra thanks for the vocabulary!

Thank you for the Friday recap, Denise!

"Recapper creeped out." Word. Sometimes I don't know who's worse. Pedro's scary and competent, so he wouldn't target someone random, but you'd definitely be done for if he wanted you gone. Anselmo is creepy and incompetent, so he might screw up and you survive, but he also might screw up and target you for no good reason.

When they contrast Quique's "Spanish Inquisition" and David's "Don't involve me in people's personal business." it really does feel like they're setting up something between David and Rafa. Other than the age difference, I think they'd be a better match. And maybe David's not quite as young as I keep thinking. Two years working at Conatrol doesn't mean two years of work experience, period. Of course, I have no idea if David's gay or just not as juvenile as Sebas and Ric.

"The guys all have their hair slicked back, and they look delicious." Dude, yes! I didn't recognize Juancho without his hair in his face. And then I kept wanting to smack him, because, yeah the portions were tiny and the food looked weird and Antonio's not his favorite person, but his SISTER made it so he could have at least been supportive of her if nothing else. Punk.

"He holds up the photo of Nelson’s little girl." *incoherent screaming* I hate Pedro.

Thanks, Sara and Diva!
Sara and Diva - Yeah, I'm thinking there is a reason the writers are sending David to San Gasp. I know Quique is over-the-top annoying, but he just can't help himself. His mind just immediately goes there. As far as we know, Rafa hasn't indulged in something on the side - it just doesn't fit with his character - so it's definitely Quique's own issue.

Denise, I'm afraid at the very least, the purpose for David going to San Gaspar is to be the next target for Quique's irrational jealousy :(

Yet Quique is still oddly likable. Maybe there's still someone out there for him.

You are so right, Denise. There's no way Rafa has ever been unfaithful.

Denise- Fabulous recap! Gracias, amiga.

I agree, David going to San Gaspar has to be for some purpose. Making Quique jealous will certainly be one of the consequences, since he gets along with Rafa so well.

I was glad Laura was able to speak to Bruno so that he'd stop beating himself up about what he said, but I get so worried Pedro or his goons with pop up any time they talk, or that he'll check her call history.

I feel for Nelson, but surely at this point he must realize he'll never escape Pedro without real him. He needs to tell Fidel. But alas, I'm sure Pedro's threat had the intended effect.

The dinner for Tonio was incredibly sweet. I don't know what it will take for him to realize Sara is the woman he should be with.

Tablet typo: Without real HELP, not him.

Vivi-That dinner was the highlight of the week IMO.

I kept expecting the dinner to be something of a joke...they'd keep it up for half an hour and then bust out some tortas and cumbia. And Antonio would have been just as happy, if not happier.

Thanks so much for the recap Denise
I had a really hard time watching
I kept tearing up at the dinner - Antonio dressing to please ProtaSara and ProtaSara dressing her whole fam to please Tonio
And I just couldn't watch Nelson cry:(
