Muchacha Italiana Viene a Casarse #42 Wed 10/21/15 (Mex 57-58) Mariachi is clearly not the answer

Hi peeps!  We could use some more help on this show.  Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are all open.  Email me if you're interested.

Hm, Pedro wants a chance?  And he'll do anything for it?  Anything?  Oh, he's willing to rope the moon, change Mexico to the shape of a boot, sing a serenata.  I notice "Run to Las Vegas right the hell now and marry you" isn't on the list.

Suddenly it's day.  *sigh* And Gianna is breaking up with Gael all over again, because lips that touch Roxana's shall never touch Gianna's.  And she bets his friends all know about Rox, too.  Gael considers some pills.

Fi asks Juli and Sergio not to tell anyone that her wedding with Vitto is off.  But Juli's a meddler and wants to help Fi get back together with her weird fiancée.

Os's pet doctor is perfectly willing to go along with telling Sonia that the DNA test is no big and he needs her signature just because.  He doesn't even care that Os tells her she has to either sign or not be a member of the family anymore--she'll be out on the street.  Sonia remembers her mom and signs.

Pedro, Fi, and Simona wrestle with a large, dusty trunk.  Per Simona, it contains an old guitar.  Fi gets all excited about Pedro serenading her.

Gael gets high and has a seizure in the stables.

My prayers are answered.  Sonia's Mama shows up at the Rancho.

Much to everyone's horror, the sounds of a serenata and flower petals spelling out Fi's name are NOT Pedro's doing, but Vitto's.  Once again, I ask…where the hell is security?!  I mean, anyone can just walk in!  Oh, this is Sergio and Juli's doing.  Uh, thanks dudes.  Vito apologizes.  Fi doesn't exactly say they're NOT going to get married, she just keeps, I dunno…stalling.  I'm not even listening to her.

Gianna finds Gael and tries to rouse him.

Os and Sonia get home.  The DNA test results will be back in 3 days.  As if that weren't nerve-wracking enough, Sonia hears her mother in the dining room.

Pedro contemplates his sombrero and his guitar, has many flashbacks of Fi, and works himself up into a rage. He throws the sombrero (what did it ever do to you?!) and says he's done letting Fi play with him.  Even my cat gave me a "What the hell is this guy talking about?" look.

Belinda is Sonia's Mama's name.  And she likes wine. But we knew that.  Just as I'm thinking it, Fed says they should introduce her to Sergio.  Gianna interrupts dinner (thanks!) and a doctor is called for Gael.

I'm sure a bedroom full of cranky relatives isn't good for anybody's health.  As cruelly as he means it, I think I agree with Osvaldo that sending him to rehab is the best thing they can do for him.  The doctor really doesn't care, as long as they argue about it out in the hallway.  Gael gets Pedro to call Alina.

Gianna is furious, but Benito and Fi convince her to wait and kill Gael tomorrow.  She goes off to bed and Benito hits on Fi.  Because that's supposed to cheer her up. She suggests he take a cold shower.

Fi goes to chastise Pedro for not bringing her a serenata.  Predictable argument ensues.  The only thing I find interesting is that Pedro actually seems to think that Fi doesn't know which of the two guys she wants.

Gael talks to Alina.  He remembers his jackass of a sperm donor verbally abusing him for falling off the swings.  "An Angeles doesn't cry" is what stuck with him.  The next morning at breakfast, Fidel, using more polite words, tells Gianna, Fiorella, and Benito that Gael's dad was indeed a jackass.  He ignores Fi's rant about Pedro going to work.  No, Benito, she does not want to talk about it with you!  But, since she has no spine, Fi gets talked into taking a walk.

Gi sneaks into Gael's room.  He admits he relapsed because she broke up with him, but it's not her fault.  And he doesn't want her to be with him just because she feels sorry for him.  He wants to be friends until he's better.  Well, that was mature.  If sad.

See, I thought the walk was for Fi's benefit, but no…it's just another opportunity for Benito to make a pitch.  For the fiftieth time.  Not that it makes any difference to Fi, because she just doesn't have those feelings for him.  And Benito's looking at her like he just can't comprehend that.  For the fiftieth time.

Gianna sees Rox and Gael hanging out and taking a selfie later and assumes the worst.  She goes and whines to Benito that he broke up with her to be with Roxana.  They decide to go ride horses to cheer Gianna up.  After their ride, she passes out.

Aitana invades Pedro's office before her mythical Pilates class.  Aitana wants to hang out, but he gives her the brush-off, and then she pouts and he thinks of Fiorella, and he remembers that he decided to be angry at her again, so he takes her to lunch.

One of the arsonists who burned down Juli's house got caught.  He hasn't talked yet, but if he gives up Anibal, her troubles will be over.  Later he calls her, but the guy said Sergio hired him.  Oh, whatever!

Fed searches through dusty files and tells a stuffed shirt that there are five years of paperwork missing.  Um…yeah…they were missing when he started working there.   Don Maximo took them.  To a safety deposit box at a bank somewhere.  Fed swears him to silence if he doesn't want to end up in a box offsite somewhere.  There seems to be someone who knows the answers to Fed's questions and Suit Guy is going to help her find them.

Belinda is in Sonia's room, instead of the guest room, in her bed, snacking and watching telenovelas.  She figured she'd hang around and help Sonia with the whole DNA thing.  But, um, she still doesn't have a concrete idea beyond shouting "We'll get a fake DNA test" just when Os walks in.  Smooth move.

Pedro took Aitana to lunch at the Ranch.  Fi has a jealous fit.  I so don't care.  He knocks a vase of flowers out of her hands, which now means she needs to clean up glass.  She goes stomping off to the stables and Pedro decides to chase after her, stand outside the stables, and tell her she's been messing around with him, Vitto, and Benito and so he's going to forget her and make things work with Aitana.  But first he's going to teleport Fidel and the guitar out there so he (but mostly Fidel) can serenade her.  Fidel has skills.  Screw Pedro.  Date Fidel.  Disembodied trumpets join in.  Aitana cries.  The name of the song is "Sólo Los Que Aman" and it's about being able to do anything, if you're in love.  And who wrote it?  The actor who plays Fidel.  I'm telling you, Fi…go for the silver fox!  Pedro demands some kind of response and he gets one…from Aitana.  We'll find out what it is tomorrow.

This is the second show where we've had an actor (or actors) who wrote original songs for the show. Which is kind of cool.

Now, Fidel just suddenly appearing with the guitar brings up the very real possibility that there are aliens on this show. No, seriously, just hear me out! Aitana? Her family? Maybe they're not from earth...and they're running out of time for her to complete the marriage ritual and mate with an earthling so their um, high council, will give the go-ahead to take over the planet. That could work, right?

OK. I tried.

Thanks, Kat. wow. This show just gets freakier and freakier. That Fidel is quite the Renaissance man....chauffeur, confidente, guitar accompianist....a real jack of all trades. Then, there's Pedro..singing and crying ..and Fi creepily staring out from the stable door...and Aitana lurking and jumping out of the shadows to highjack that serenade.

Gracias, Susanlynn! Fidel is SO the man.

Hi Diva. Your comment of the Aliens was very funny and the recap was wonderful.
I felt very bad for Gael especially in the scene where he remembered his dad screaming at him for falling from the swing. Oh I wanted to slap that dumb dude, hey that is not the way of treating a kid.

Gracias, Marla! It's a damn shame Os. Sr. isn't still alive. So he can die again. Painfully.

Oh well he died but he left in this world a clear mirror of himself in Assvaldo Jr, oh too bad. I dont know who has been more rude with sweet gael, his daddy, his brother, or grandma. Oh by the way Helloisa and Assvaldo were very cruel with that poor kid today. Oh I hated Helloisa saying that with some slaps in the face he would recover from his addiction, oh what a witch.

I dont want to offend enrique rocha, ok he is a good actor but oh not a good singer. Oh that vittorios serenata to fiorella was so awful and out of tune. Fidels song was pretty and better.

Thanks Kat. Got home late from work so didn't see the start and missed junks as I whipped some nourishment.

I don't know about aliens, but I swear it felt like the twilight zone during that serenade. I literally sat there and blurted out "where the hell did he and that guitar come from?" I'm sure it was a chop and dice, but it was so random. And I don't know, Jose/Petey looked like he was passing a kidney stone singing more than looking like a man in love and wanting an answer. Fidel just looks better and better as an option is right.

OMG! Gael. I didn't get what he did, which then I was mad until I saw the flashback. That would have been a good thing to miss. Man, that was just heartbreaking. Frankly, I'm surprised he is as sane as he is. He needs to be out of that house. Student campus housing maybe? He must have the cash if he paid for Gia's school.

And someone just shut Benny Boy up. 50th time indeed. Been there, done that. Stop it writers!

Daisynjay

Again, the recapper manages to make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. Well done and thank you. I couldn't keep up if it weren't for you guys.

"Even my cat gave me a 'What the hell is this guy talking about?' look." Cats, man. They know human foibles better than humans.

I'm with you, Fi needs to go all in with FIDEL.

Diva. Grazie, Gracias, Thank You, Merci, Daalụ! That's all I know for sure I can say. Diva, you covered it like the Trooper and Capitan you are. Lots of fish out of water flip flopping; Belinda HAS indeed brought a Prudencia vibe which Roxi and Freddie seem to enjoy. The mean mug serenade at the end was just stupid. My DVR cut off so I didn't see whatever Aitana did. Maybe I'll hulu-it.

ITA that if Fifi is determined to marry a "mature" gentleman, Fidel IS the man. Too bad for her he's true to his name and will never give her the time of day.

Diva, ragazza, you don't know how I appreciate you!

Diva - Thank you for the recap of another eye-roller episode. Your cat needs to talk to my dog, who completely ignores MIVAC. What am I saying??? My dog needs to talk to me about ignoring MIVAC.

I was all .... Qué cosa??? Fidel singing the duet serenade? LOL Both boys were a bit out of tune, and I agree that Vito's wasn't any better.

WHY does Vito wear sunglasses at night? (that really creeps me out!)
WHO wears sunglasses at night, besides Stevie Wonder?
AND the guy who sings this song ---> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2LTL8KgKv8

Gael's father was a complete jerk. That whole scene read (to me) like a PSA for better parenting.

Good thing we're not keeping a tally of how many times Fi & Pedro break up and get back together. There's not enough paper to keep track.

Well now I've got that song in my head, Doris. :-)

Oh and Kat, I felt like this was an abuse of the high mariachi standard. Isn't there a governing body somewhere that can fine these people?

Sara - let's hope there's not a show in Mexico called So You Think You Can Sing.

You done it again Kat, thanks for making what is shaping up to be a sequel to TSTSNBN enjoyable.

Really, is this jr high theme that popular? Does it make these actors household names and millions? What happened to someone dying from embarrassment?

"Belinda is Sonia's Mama's name. And she likes wine. But we knew that"

Fidel - up to 15,000 YouTube views, man playing guitar and little dog a howling from the porch, cute

Vitto - "Why don't you come with me little girl..on a Magic Carpet ride" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UemWekmfMU0

Aitana - I came back from Europe for this guy?

Fio - yep, they're showing off for me, me, weeeeeeee, wait, is that the ice cream truck

Gael - unlike everyone else I plan on gettin my shit together first

Sonia - ah, the good ole days when you could just point and shoot a daddy

Belinda - barfly

Eloisa - spare the rod and spoil the Gael

Hi, 5ft. Thank you for this.

Lila: I have run into some medical challenges that makes it difficult for me to be as involved with all of you as I would like to be. I'll stop by from time to time to check in as I am able.

David

Sara, doris, you kill me on the singing. Yeah, it was lame, but hey this is supposed to be the most romantic TN ever, so they are throwing in the kitchen sink of every cliche they can come up with. I think that's why we have these two loons breaking up and making up so much so all the bases can be covered. Painful.

I know we have a lot of little annoying items in this one, and every TN has them, but for the love of all that is holy, Fifi needs to ditch the pigtails. What was the point of the dress buildup when she's still wearing the dreadful head scarf and pig tails. It's not required dress for the servants and makes her look like a 12 year old. When you throw all this romance stuff and Vitto in, the vibe is too creepy. Then she doesn't look like she's old and mature enough for anyone, even Mr. Immature himself, Benny.

So taking bets...Fifi will get all put out that Aitana came strutting out on HER song, Petey will go "all crap--brain freeze--veeble smile--ineffectual reaction" and then Fifi will go all hand waving and run to _____________ a.) Vitto again b.) Benny will actually be given the time of day c.) Hottie Professor. Ok, I threw in C 'cos I want to just get this guy some air time. And he's Hot. And he's Smart. And he's independent...Ok, why is this guy not an option?

Daisynjay

David- may you have a speedy recovery. Thank you for letting us know.

Wasn't this on during the afternoon in Mexico? The same slot as CI and TSTSNBN? Coincidence? Hasn't it been mentioned before that the afternoon shows seem to be the most mindless pieces of crap?

Gracias, Kat. Love that line about hijacking the serenata because that's exactly what Aitana did. Bitch.

This was a combo of original episodes 57 and 58, but not much is missing. Does this start early/run late and have fewer commercials than usual?

I almost feel sorry for Sonia right now. Whatever she herself was like before she has done a Pygmalion job on herself to the consternation of Eloisa and Federica. Maybe also Assvaldo. This is something that those who are To The Manor Born are scared witless of. And then Belinda shows up to shoot that completely to hell. There is a definite Prudencia vibe coming from Belinda. Well, Ann Arden didn't have this problem until much later with an ex.

I like that the flashbacks are done in black and white. Didn't like what was happening in the one with Assvaldo Sr and little Gael. It's obvious that nobody in this family except Pedro gives a damn about his feelings so I also vote for on-campus student housing for him. It won't keep him away from drugs but will remove the reason he uses them.

The thugs who attacked Sergio ended up with one of his credit cards so they planted it at the scene of the crime.

Daisynjay - justice would be served if they threw the kitchen sink at the writers.

David, hope you are feeling much better soon. Sending virtual positive vibes and we look forward to hearing from you when you can.

:)

Daisynjay

David Fratello! I am so sorry to hear about your health challenges. I pray for a steady and rapid recovery and wish you everything that is healing and comforting.

Love and Light, Brother!))))))))))))))))))))

Tofie! I like Magic Carpet Ride! Vito and Fifi are not worthy!

:D

Lila

Gracias, Daisynjay! It was the crankiest serenata ever for one where the guy's supposed to be in love. Unfurrow the brow, dude.

Gracias, Sara! Team Fidel: Everybody loves a Renaissance man!

Gracias, Lila! The Lady Godiva wanna-be hasn't said/done much of anything. Just "Well, gosh, what can I say?" Which isn't saying much.

Gracias, doris! I always regret not keeping a tally of the make-ups/break-ups later, but when they outnumber the number of episodes, maybe it's better that way.

Gracias, tofie! Did she come back from Europe or did Europe send her back...?

Gracias David! I'm glad you stopped by! I hope your medical challenges are resolved in as satisfactory a way as possible.

Gracias, Urban! It's been running a little late, but starting on time and doing refritos. Really, if they'd ditch the refrito, they wouldn't run over. The one following, Lichita, also runs over. Ah, and here I thought Anibal would just sign someone up for the Fine Brandy and Cuban Cigar of The Month Club. Well played.

(David).I am sending you good vibrations ))))))))).

My own personal telenovela has hit a bumpy part lately...I think that episodes are being spliced together. I recently found out that one of my best friends has stage four lung cancer, and then yesterday, hub and our daughter had to have her sweet 13 year old golden retriever put to sleep. So, I am letting myself have a sad today . I need a really good telenovela to distract me from reality...or a mariachi band...or Jamie Fraser...perhaps all three might help. Instead,I am doing laundry and correcting tests....which just makes me sadder. Maybe I will go outside and kick some walnuts into the woods...that seems to help a bit. ...that and I have been cursing...a lot.

Cursing is very cathartic, Susanlynn.

((hugs)) and good vibes. Feel free to email me if you just need to talk.

Awwww, Susanlynn, Love, Light and a Big Hug to you, Dear Sister!

((((((((((Susanlynn))))))))))

Kat, "I notice "Run to Las Vegas right the hell now and marry you" isn't on the list" made me smile in wry appreciation.

This was fantastic. Don't know how you culled this from last night's dreck.

Even I noticed the chopping last night. Is it me or are Fi and Pedro getting back together and breaking up several times each night??

I was incredulous when Vitto and then Aitana walked out of the dark, effectively ruining Fi's night not once but twice. Talk about a bad run of luck.

Agree that Gael needs help. Serious rehab where he will be tended to by competent medical staff, away from the house where almost all of the inhabitants are rabid.

David, will say a prayer for you.

Susanlynn, I know you have a wonderful family and I suspect many dear friends. May they and God guide you and support you as you deal with your heartaches. God bless.

Diana

Susanlynn, heck with Gael, I'm sending all my hugs to both you and David. Kicking walnuts sounds healing, but even just heading into those woods might be a good idea. Get away from the tests and the drudge. Sometimes we need to be good to ourselves and just give into something positive for awhile. (((( )))).

Daisynjay

Diva - aliens are not on this show; they are writing it! We need to have a kitchen sink fling at them. (anyone remember the cow fling episode on Northern Exposure?)

David - I hope you will be okay soon. Life is what happens when we've made other plans. Please stop by the Patio when you can. (((Hugs)))

Susanlynn♥ - It's a verra challenging day. Ben & Jerry's always gives me a boost. (Ihighly recommend S. Colbert's Americone Dream! or Cherry Garcia! or both!!!)

tofie - your list today is a hoot! Fidel's had me LOLing or I should say ... howling with laughter...

David, wishing you a fast recovery. Being sick definitely bites.

Susanlynn, that is horrible. Keep your loved ones around you and get some chocolate. Most things are bearable with chocolate.

Wow...How can people you have never met, make you cry ? You are all verra dear to me. I feel as if I know you . Thanks for all those virtual hugs. I can feel the good vibrations...or maybe it's vibrations .

I am still doing laundry, but I have put the tests aside after going outside to kick a few more of those awful walnuts into the surrounding woods, and I have decided on a shameless attempt to flee outrageous fortune with my own private Outlander marathon (until Hub returns from smacking the golf ball). I can feel the good vibrations that you are sending me....or maybe the vibrations are coming from this guy in a kilt...whatever ...I feel better. One of my buds has told me that she is dealing with our dear friend's diagnosis with stress eating and retail therapy....Caray and Jamie have less calories and are not expensive diversions.

Just dropping in to say a big thank you to Kat, for the fun recap. I saw the last minute, and wondered why Pedro looked so angry and annoyed while he was serenading the woman he claims to love. Okie dokie, then...

And to David, speedy recovery, amigo!

Susanlynn- Happy to provide virtual hugs and all the silly jokes you need.
((((((ABRAZOS!)))))

Doris...I liked Northern Exposure and all those quirky characters, but I cannot remember the cow episode.

UA..I like chocolate. I think my favorite is a Hershey bar with almonds. We went to Hershey Park last summer...a chocolate lover's dream come true. However, I do not have any in the house right now.

Doris...My fav ice cream flavor is coffee..especially Edy's cappuccino with dark chocolate bits .

sara..Thanks, maybe I will email you. Right now, I am a little numb.

Susanlynn - I lost a very dear friend to lung cancer 4 1/2 years ago. She was in her mid 80s and like a mom to me. As bad as losing a beloved mother, for me. Several years ago, we had to take a 16 y/o dog to the Rainbow Bridge several years ago. Best dog we ever had. Ever. No exaggeration. I went into mind depression for months after until I got a new dog. That was eight years ago and I still get sad when I think about it. Dogs are members of our families.

It ALL hurts and we know and share your pain. (((Hugs)))

Doris..My friend lost her daughter in law to colon cancer and her brother to lung cancer less than a year ago . Life is one, long telenovela. As for our Sammi, the worst part is helping the two little girls through this sad, confusing time.

It isn't much easier for adults either. I've been through it with cats and it never gets easier. Each of them is special and unique.

Kat--Thank you for the epic, wonderful recap! I always enjoy. Big hugs to you just because.

David--So sorry that medical issues are preventing you from hangin' out on the patio as much as usual. I include my hugs and best wishes for things to get better soon.

Susanlynn--my dear, so sorry about your daughter's beautiful dog. I am adding my hug ( ) to the big patio group hug. And my tears too.

On a different note...I stumbled in to the patio late and tuned in during the flashback of poor Gael and his dad. The Spanish captions (which I turn because my hearing is not great) were referring to little Gael's daddy as "Sergio", causing me much confusion. Hopefully was just a wee bit to much tequila in the captioning cubicle.

J in Oregon

golly ya'll, David wish you the best buddy and Susanlynn sorry to hear that. I just was talking with a neighbor of mine this morning walking her dog that goes in for a follow up tomorrow after fighting lung cancer 2.5 years ago and having a lung removed. She never smoked a day in her life.

Hello Everyone, just dropping in to say Hi. On grandma duty this week. Thanks Kat for the recap. Susanlynn, virual hugs. Hang in there,Sister.
All the characters on this show are confused because nobody trusts anyone. All this lack of communication is crazy. Vitto aught to be ashamed of himself. Fio could be his grand child.
He makes me sick with his obsession.

Hanna

Good afternoon folks. Oh I was wondering in my mind that if Gael was fired from the medical school on Europe for stealing medicines shouldn't they had to send him to jail or at least to a rehab clinic? Ok it seems that the only one in the family that knows that Gael commited robbery is Assvaldo and he used that information to keep him from telling grandma that he shooted pedro on purpose. I'm confused if Assvaldo always knew that Gael had a drug addiction or he investigated Gael to have something to manipulate him. If he knew, I wonder if he made a money arrangement with the school in order for Gael not to go to jail and also keep the family from knowing especially Helloisa.

That could very well be. When a child of the rich does anything wrong they can circle the limosines and cover anything up by burying it in money or threats.

Susanlynn, ((((((((hugs)))))))) to you and I hope you're finding some distraction.

Gracias, Diana! The editing is not helping, but I think Fi and Pedro really do break up and get back together several times a night, not just several times an episode!

lol, doris, I'm all for flinging something at 'em!

Gracias, Vivi! Yep, frowniest serenata ever >:(

Gracias, J! I would be curious to know how much a single captioner sticks with a show or if they just get assigned sort of randomly and have to jump in without really knowing anything about the show or the characters. It seems like that would make it difficult, but then I could also see it leading to burnout having to caption some of the doozies we've had lately!

Gracias, Hanna! I hope you're enjoying grandma time :D

Marla, a bribe to the school to keep things quiet seems plausible, but they might have done it without a bribe, too. Having a student stealing drugs from them doesn't make them look good either. They could have just wanted him to go away quietly.

Circle the limousines...good one, Urban!

Oh yeah Urban, with money the world goes round and Assvaldo is always manipulating people with threats and feels all mighty just for being an Angeles. Oh I can perfectly imagine him threatening the school director with closing the college or offering a good amount of money for his silence. So in that case, I wonder what Gael did in all those years in Europe when he was fired from medicine school? Only have parties, meet girls, and waste money in drugs. Oh how sad.

A Mystery Special Guest Recapper has volunteered to recap tonight's (Thursday's) episode! It will be posted tomorrow. A big Thank You in advance :D

(And if anyone else is hesitant to commit to a regular spot, but would like to do a fill-in, email me...we'll work something out.)

Ok thank you Diva. And yeah having thieves in a school would ruin its reputation and prestige and that would a big scandal.

Anonymous- Sergio is Osvaldo and Gael's uncle. Gael and Osvaldo's daddy was Osvaldo Sr.

Diva - if we cannot get a regular recapped for Thursday's, maybe there could be a topic starter posted and the Patio can collectively fill in with bullet points of the highlights. At least that way we can sit at our patio tables and commiserate.
