Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #76 Tue 10/27/15: Big Truths, Even Bigger Decisions

     Parte 1~
Doris and Orlando continue lip locking and discussing their new relationship.  Yes, Chelito was the one to wise him up to the fact that she was in love with him and he is attracted to her greatly.  In love with her is something else again and Doris determines to make him fall in love with her.  He’s game he says.

Maria Dolores (Pained Mary) advises Doris to take the rest of the day off and enjoy getting to know Orly better.  She does and he tells her he’s an old-fashioned sort of guy who, though not exactly a male chauvinist, at least likes to know he wears the pants in the family and would be her ultimate shield and provider.  He also seems a bit slow in bedding the dizzied damsel, taking things in baby steps rather than in gigantic er…(bedroom bop) hops.  As for Ari, Orly will deal with him and the “it” later.   And Isela?  She wasn’t worth it, just a lust of sorts that he’s over.  (FF>>FF>>)

·        Alma gets the disastrous, earthshaking news that although Claudio is fine, maybe a bit overstressed so that he cannot function in his matrimonial mattress duties of late, she’s the one with health worries.  She has pancreatic cancer.  She chooses to deal with the news on her own—at least for now, tell Max that she’s just going through menopause (and empty-nest syndrome).

·        At the same time, Ivana has another heart to heart with Gerry in her bedroom during which she again demonstrates the selfish little rich girl she is and that she’s absolutely a worthless piece of trash for all the money she possesses.  Gerry is incredulous hearing that now she’s hired her attorneys to join forces with Urrrrsula’s in order to help get that slime-bucket of a husband, Daniel, out of the slammer.  “—But he’s a rapist!”  Yep, among other various and sundry sordid hallmark attributes, Ivaca does not take issue with here, but she counters that he’s still her husband and she’ll do whatever it takes not to have herself and her professional reputation dragged through the proverbial muck and mire.  [sacar la porquería a flote = vernacular: when the shit hits the fan].   “--It’s my due—mine and nobody else’s!”  [hacerle justicia a = to do right by, give somebody their due]  And with that, Viewerville hopes that Gerry The Joyful on a variety of levels has finally gotten his fill of Ivaca The Vile and Vain.

·        Grrrrsula, meanwhile is insulting her attorneys for incompetence for their inability to have gotten Danny Boy released already.  One of the lawyers has the guts to tell her that she’s wrong.  It’s too serious a crime that does not merit release under bail.   They’ll have to study the details and see if there’s a means for asking for a “writ of habeas corpus”  (claiming unjust imprisonment, i.e., falsely accused and no justification or proof to keep him in jail-I believe is the closest to  requesting “Amparo = injunction”.)  So, when Crooked Lawyer mentions that Danny Boy could spend the next 8-16 years in prison for his crime, Grrrrsula determines to take matters into her own hands.  “—You see if I don’t get Daniel out in a DF minute!”

Grrrsula rushes into Maleny and demands the truth while Arango has rushed after her begging her not to tell her daughter the truth or she will never help her brother get let out of jail.  Grrrrsula slams the door shut in Arango’s face and pushes Mal down face first onto the glass coffee table and knocks her out.  “Ok.  Arango killed your father!  And, he helped me manage your father’s money!  Now tells me what you know that will make Bustamonte help us!”  Mal has an epiphany that they never had been in any financial straits and planned the murder together.  Perhaps, but Grrrsula doesn’t deny it.  Finally Mal says it’s the reason Isela gave her all the goods on MD.  Urrrsula realizes that Ise and Clod are a twosome-gruesome as it is—and rushes out to blackmail Clod into putting his professional clout into getting DB released.  Mal Accuses Arango of being Mama’s accomplice and threatens that if she can prove they did it together then by gawd he’s goin’ down!

Later, to make good on her promise, she meets up first with Evil Doc who says get me out from under your mother’s clutches and I’ll give you what you want.  Then she meets with Adrian, gives him the file and says she’s changed her mind and wants him to scour the file and translate it all into something understandable that she can use.

·        As for Fermin The Continually Squirmin’, the doctor at the hospital says he’s takin’ up space and either put him into the loony bin or take him home (not that Viewerville sees there’s much difference here, but why quibble).  They opt for plan B.  Of course, Josefa is there watching the parade as Honoria and family return with Fermin in hand.  He has a momentary bit of lucidity and claims she gave him the bottle last time and got him drunk.  She lies and sniffs.  “As if!”

~~end parte 1~
==============

·        Mal learns from Evil Doc that there was no gun residue on either Arango or her mother’s clothing and hands.  Clod arranged that the courts couldn’t/wouldn’t check her hands or clothing because she was a minor.

·        Grrrsula barges her way into Clods office and refuses to excuse herself.  She snidely says, well since you and Isela are such confidants anyway, she can stay to hear what I have to say.   You will help me get my son out of jail and prevent him going to prison or else!  Clod refuses. “—I have my principals!”  Grrrsie sneers back, yeah and you pick and choose the ones you want to hide behind.  “--Well, you have a choice.  I know that you and Isela are lovers.  Yes,  Maleny told me.  How else do you think we could keep a step ahead of Maria Dolores?  Well, your legal and family reputation will go down the drain if you don’t do what I want and fast.  You still have a few hours to consider.”

Ise has no choice but to tell him well, half the truth and admits she was forced to tell Mal because she could figure out we were sleeping together. “--I only helped her against Maria Dolores, though, I swear!!”  She tells him again it’s time she goes back home to Hosie since Alma’s got both Max and Leo moving back in and she cannot and will not bed bop him with his wife and two sons under the same roof.  He curses having ever met her.  She tells him to ‘fess up to his family about them or he’ll lose everything in the end.

Clod is then left with his essentials in his hand as Ise returns home.  She tells Mama that their revenge has succeeded, thanks to Urrrsula.  Clod’s about to lose his family and his professional reputation because he won’t help free Daniel.  Mama says not gonna happen.  They’ll forgive his masculine dalliance as one of many and go on with his life and Danny Boy will stay in jail and MD will get hitched to Max.  Ho and Ise will be stuck holding the bag and the laughing stock of the neighborhood not to mention, Ise stuck with the reputation as Bustamonte’s used goods ex-lover.  Yeah, well, Urrsula told Clod that they helped her against Maria Dolores Ma.  Finally, Ho-sie is at a loss for words.

·        Clod and Alma are both silent at dinner.  He thinks over what choice he might have as Alma refuses to tell the truth of her disease to the other family members. Max has asked Alma earlier in the day to go with him the next night to formally ask for MD’s hand.  Leo’s got plans to marry Clara who now has decided to go into law and Leo’s planning on becoming an accountant like Julian.

·        Maria The Pained One makes an unexpected visit to Clods office.  She tells him nervously that she’s come to understand that, for a while now, with all that’s been happening, that Isela and he are apparently….er….lovers.

OMG.

I never thought Arango did it and that seemed confirmed by the end of the episode. That Ursula would lie in the heat of the moment isn't a surprise; I'm sure she's trying to gaslight Maleny so she either conveniently offs herself or ends up in a manicomio. This lie was a convenient and coincidental first step in that direction.

Alma seems to be headed in a similar direction as MD. She should not conceal her illness from the rest of her family. Since there was no additional conversation with the doctor we don't know if she will have additional tests so we don't know her prognosis. This is something that kills quickly and painfully.

Ivana seems to have an ulterior motive for being willing to spring Danny-Boy. If I were Gerry I'd shop my resume around and resign.

Urban- Alma's doctor was recommending an oncologist and told her she needed to see him right away, but she wasn't listening. Hopefully, she tells someone soon, and they spur her into action.

Jardinera- Looking forward to your recap. This was quite an episode, with a lot of plot development.

Ursula played Maleny perfectly. She knew that with any scrap she threw at her (even a false one), Maleny would grab for it and in the process reveal her one piece of valuable info. Now Mal has lost all her power.

I was so glad that Gerry to got up and walked away from Ivana in disgust. I hope he doesn't come back, until she's come to her senses.

Usurla didn't care if she seriously harmed or killed Maleny but only that the information she wanted wouldn't be available. She didn't yell come back honey or I'm sorry but Arango did it!

What in the world does MD believe she will achieve by having this discussion with Claudio? He's either going to think she is using the information as leverage or drive him to lie therefore forcing him to help get Dan released. If, and that's a big if, she wanted to talk about this, why not Max?

Why would MD want Danny-Boy to get released? She can't be delusional about what he'd do.

There is no question that the Santibanez clan thinks it's above the law. He held a pair of scissors to her throat. His family wants the baby at any cost. MD has to realize that her life is in danger from all of them by now.

Ursula still holds the documents on the Morales' apartment. If Max can't get to court in time about this she will use those to try to evict them again.

Max doesn't yet know that Ivana is trying to get Danny-Boy released. He will freak when he finds out but even he doesn't know the depth of that family's evil.

Tofie- I think she wants confirmation and/or to give Claudio fair warning before she tells Max. She told Espie that she had to be sure that Isela and Claudio are lovers before she blew up Max's world by telling him. She knows all she'll get out of Isela are lies and half truths. I think Claudio has already decided to bend to Ursula's will, because that dinner at home sure as heck showed that he can't man up and tell his family the truth, as Isela yelled at him to do. Actually, if MD told Claudio she is going to tell Max, that takes the pressure off of him to either tell the family himself, or to help Ursula in order to keep it hush hush. It just takes it out of his hands. It might be the best way to go.

The other reason MD wants to cover all bases before exposing Isela is because: 1) she has never seen Isela and Claudio in a compromising position with her own eyes; and 2) she herself has been the subject of lies and vicious gossip that people have used against her, and she doesn't feel it's fair to do the same to Isela. I think that's a perfectly fair thing for her to do, and shows she's not a hypocrite, like many of the other folks in this tale.

Wowsy, can't wait for the recap Jardinera.

I didn't quite get what Medina said to Mal. Did he confirm it wasn't Arango?

I'm betting that Alma will pick the very moment that Claudio wants to tell her about his affair, to tell him about her pancreatic cancer. Then he won't tell her.

I'm thinking that MD will also tell him about Corina. That way he will tell her that he can convince Dan to lay off the charges if he agrees to spring him out. That way he can do what Ursula wants and not divulge his affair.

If MD had a decent relationship with Claudio perhaps but I lean toward what Espy told her and that she, as the messenger, would be shot. If she feels compelled to tell she should accept Max is an intelligent grown man and if they are to be a team it is he she should discuss this with. Will Max be the last to know, again?

If MD tells Max, I think Claudio is off the hook for springing Daniel. Max loves his mother and Alma was a good one. He would tell her because she is unlikely to believe it from anyone else. However....

...with 46 TV hours left, something is going to get that nasty weasel out of the slammer to cause more trouble.

Cathyx- Doc Medina told Maleny that both Ursula and Arango were tested for gun residue by the investigator-- they hand none on them or their hands and they were ruled out as suspects by the investigator. Claudio used his influence to prevent them from testing Maleny.

Correction: Gunshot residue, not gun residue.

Part 2 is coming.

And that makes me sick. The look on Gerry's face was on mine. Though unknown to MD, the deal the devil offered Claudio might look more appealing with her in front of him. No way he gives MD the truth with all the slut shaming he's thrown her way. Hypocritical dick.

I am wondering whether Ursula put on gloves, put the gun in Maleny's hand, put her hand over Maleny's, and fired the gun. She would have then disposed of the gloves before the police got involved. That would have left Maleny's prints on the gun and some gunshot residue on her hands. However, a test would reveal that the pattern of the residue shows that there was a hand covering hers.

Great Part 1, Jardinera! I love how you describe these characters. You're obviously having fun with it. :)

Can Doris deal with the big differences between Ari and Orly? She and Ari had sex all the time. Ari kept her hidden from his friends. Ari and she would split the bill on dinners out, and he was in search of a sugar mama. Now she's with a guy who wants to wait until he's married or deeply committed to have sex; enlists the help of family and friends to do something special for the woman he's with; and also believes that it's his job to ensure she's pampered and taken care of financially. It's a mixed bag. Many would say he's too old fashioned in some ways. But after being with a guy like Ari, a bit of old fashioned might be exactly what Doris needs. I certainly think Nana Chelito would approve.

Your recap is awesome Jardinera, thank you

"Clod is then left with his essentials in his hand as Ise returns home"

Ya know Vivi, I wasn't feeling Doris and Orlando like I though I would and it just might be what you described. The building heat kinda fizzled in the light of day.

Jardinera654, good recap. Nasty episode. So
Much Lying and manipulation going on. And "they Brought it on themselves."←that could also be a good title for this episode.
If alma decides to tell Claudio about the Big C before he does anything to get psychopath out of prison, he might decide not to do anything to help him get out of prison and In which case Grrrrsula would make her way over there on her broom to blow him out of the water. He's damned if he do and damned if he don't. He right he should Curse the day he did what he did, cuz he had another choice but as usual he chose to dip in another pond. Max and leo are in for it.
Im glad orly and doris are takin it slow, there
Is more to a relationship than sex. Nothing wrong with takin it slow. Finally somebody is
Happy in this show. y'all I promise I was really not trying to make that rhyme. :-D I'm
glad hes old fashioned. I like the old fashion stuff better than this stuff thats going on now You have something to look forward to with this way of doing things, of course well everybody is different. everybody' has a right to do what they want. Its going to be fun tho watching them get closer and closer and closer without jumping between the sheets.
the rest of this stuff is going to be a hot mess
Must see tv, comin up.

Thanks for Part 2, Jardinera!

Gracias, Jardinera. And the madness continues...

Thanks, Jardinera. Terrific recap. My favorites:

Of course, Josefa is there watching the parade as Honoria and family return with Fermin in hand.

Clod is then left with his essentials in his hand as Ise returns home.

Poor Maleny. Can't stand her, but I do want her to stick it to Ursula. So stupid to handover Isela-Claudio to her.

What Alma is doing is not so unusual. Many people need to process their illness themselves first, before they let their loved ones in. But I hope Alma doesn't take too long to do this.

I confess I loved the chemistry between Doris and Ari and was hoping he'd reform. But I'll give Doris and Orlando a chance. His close-to-macho manifesto surprised me at first, but then I thought about how timid and needy Isela had always been with him. I think Doris's boldness will temper Orlando's old-fashioned ways.
