Yo No Creo En Los Hombres #73 Thu 10-22-15: Three Cheers for Vivi!
- MD ignores Maleny, who tries to keep MD from seeing Max in the hospital. She pries Mal off of her on her way to the elevator, and pushes her onto her delgada nalgas and smiles with satisfaction as the elevator door closes. I cheer!
-In front of Max’s room, MD has to face down Maleny, Ivana, Claudio and Alma, who all try to prevent her from seeing Max, while throwing her supposed misdeeds in her face. MD tells them all the real deal—she did not cheat on Max, Dan RAPED her, Julian is not the father of her baby- Dan is, and she’s going to send him to jail for the rape! Max hears the commotion and hears everything MD said. He gingerly makes his way to the door, opens it, and tells everyone he’s going to help MD put Dan in jail. MD rushes into Max’s arms, and all is well with the world.
The others stare in shock. MD asks Alma and Claudio to stay with the room with Max, and she further explains about the Santibanez kidnapping her, threatening to take her baby, why she panicked and said Julian was the father, and her plans to escape alone—which later changed because Honoria asked her to take Julian along to keep him safe from the thugs who killed her father. She has decided to come back and fight, but regardless, had she known he was injured, she would have come back anyway. MD apologizes to Max and asks his forgiveness. Of course, no apology is even needed for Max. He knew she didn’t cheat, and that there was something else going on. Once they are alone, he puts his hand on her belly and says they will continue with their marriage plans as before. It’s clear he accepts the baby as his. MD returns his look of love and kisses him.
- Alma and Claudio, are in shock about it all, and although Alma knows the poor innocent baby isn’t to blame for how s/he came into this world, she really can’t get behind Max accepting Dan’s baby as his own. Claudio is more concerned about all the drama and danger MD brings into Max’s life, including the thugs who stabbed him.
- Mal immediately starts to negotiate with Ivana as a free agent—separately from Ursula and Dan. She’ll make sure Ivana gets the baby. Ivana at first rejects her offer. Then she goes home to the empty baby nursery and starts caressing a baby blanket from a packed box. Susana comes in and sense that the crazy is returning. She shakes Ivana and tells her to “snap out of it!”, but it’s Susana who ends up getting slapped. Ivana clains she can get HER baby, and beat the Santibanez at their game this time. She calls up Mal and they meet to discuss terms. MD’s baby, for Ivana’s support of Mal against Ursula. Ursula pops out of nowhere and does a hostile takeover of the meeting. She points out that Mal has no power over the custody of the baby, while Dan and Ursula (as Dan’s puppet master) do. Ursula says that Ivana doesn’t even have to stay married to Dan—the divorce can proceed. What Ursula does want is half of Ivana’s fortune for MD’s baby. She leaves Ivana to ponder the offer, while Mal fumes about her own plan failing.
- Honoria asks the two neighborhood bros (the guys who were in jail with Julian and now work for Orly) to find her a gun for protection of her and Julian against the thugs. They are reluctant, but agree. They get lucky because the Church, along with the local police, are doing a gun buy-back event. Money for your guns, no questions asked. The two homies end up buying a gun from one of the men in the line. They give it to Honoria, who wraps it up in a non-secure handkerchief and tucks it away before Julian sees it. She also tries to discourage Julian from going out while the thugs are at large.
- Leo visits Max (he has been told the whole truth by Clara) and tells his parents and Max that they owe Julian an apology. Claudio will start by giving him and Andrian back their office. Max calls Julian and asks him to visit him at the hospital. Julian first stops by the clinic to see Fermin, who is in the middle of fighting off Jenny and the nurses and doctor, and seems to be having some kind of dementia. Only Julian’s presence and his calling out “papa” finally calms him.
- MD (off screen) goes by herself to make the formal rape charge with the department of sex crimes. She finally checks her voicemail and hears the desperate message from Corina. Dan and Jacinto made good on her threat to accuse her of theft and have her thrown in jail. MD jumps into action, enlisting Adrian’s services to help Corina. While they are at the police station trying to get info, poor Corina is being sent off to prison with a brutal beating by the intake guard.
- Nana Chelito really wants to go see Doris’ place and get set up there. Knowing how conservative her nana is, Doris hightails it over to her place to make plans with Orly. She plans on staying at his place with her Nana, while he continues to hide out in her place. Unfortunately, when she gets home, she finds Isela there with Orly. Isela came to tell him he was right about Josefa lying to her. Adrian informed her that all the evidence was VERY conclusive that Marta stole from the bank where she worked and the ruling that Claudio made was correct. Once they are alone, an upset (and jealous) Doris tells Orly what’s the use of her trying to hide him when he keeps seeing Isela. They decide he will go back to his place, and she and her Nana can be comfortable in her apartment. Meanwhile, Josefa follows Chelito and tries to convince her that Doris is living in sin with one man, while being the lover of another. Chelito doesn’t pay her any mind. She knows her niña.
- Isela goes to Josefa’s apartment and confronts her about what REALLY happened with Marta.
End of episode.

In any case, it was a good episode except for what's happening to poor Corina. She's vetting the MD treatment by the writers, since they gave MD a day off from suffering. Or maybe that's what happens when you slip on Cursed Cinderella's shoes. Your life goes in the crapper.
I watched both Wed and Thurs episodes. I love Nana Chelito! Her reunion scene with Doris made me tear up, and it was so nice seeing someone love and pamper Doris so much. She's always doing it for others; it's her turn for a change.
The gall of Dan and Jacinto to report Corina after kidnapping her, roughing her up , an attempted rape at knife point and she has to run screaming for her life. Hope with help from Adrian and Max she can get justice too.
Your comment about Jacinto and Daniel is exactly why this series is titled as it is. They can't be trusted and neither can most of the other men in this story. Thus far the only trustworthy ones are Max, Leo, Orlando, Adrian, and Julian.
I'm personally upset that Ivana is flirting with the dark side now.
Poor Corina. Maria Dolores needs to help her right away.
Claudio & Alma were in shock about Daniel raping Maria Dolores & impregnanting her and Ursula threatening to take the baby away. All Alma could think of is Max assuming responsibility for the baby.
Ivana is back on the crazy train because she wants what Maria Dolores has...it's not about the baby and if she agrees to hand over half of her fortune to snatch away Maria's baby, I hope the Santibanez's soak Ivana for every dime she's got. Remember, Ivana was spraying on perfume to go visit Max at the hospital.
Shaky Honoria has a stolen gun. This won't end well.
Isela is lurking around Orlando again. Smh
The avance show Daniel believing he can fly.
I am so digging Max, whew.
Tofie, I don't think any of the Santibanez cares much about what either of the other two want. Ursula seems to have realized that Daniel doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting Maria Dolores back and Maleny doesn't care either way. Unlike her mother, she is incapable of seeing anything clearly. She hovers between determination to get Max back and the realization that he doesn't love her, so she's on a whole different planet.
There has been no talk of their financial situation for a long time. That means that neither Danny-Boy nor Malevolent know that they're not broke. Between that and the above they will turn on each other and cause each other's downfalls.
Loved seeing MD shoving Maleny out of the elevator door.
I was hoping Ivana would see the light but she has disappointed me. It's too bad the slap wasn't for the many things Susanna deserved it for.
Now here is where Ursula is delusional: Mexican law strongly favors maternal custody of children both in cases of out-of-wedlock conception and divorce. This is particularly true of infants. MD can't be bought off. Danny-Boy is still legally married to Ivana and that won't get resolved overnight. If MD does press rape and kidnapping charges against him that further reduces his chances unless Arango can bribe someone higher up the legal food chain than Claudio. He will also have to fight Max.
Poor Corina, no good deed goes unpunished. Now she's going to be transferred to the big prison. Maybe Adrian will end up with her?
Doris was so cute again over her worries Orlando is getting back together with Isela. I hope his talk with her is about how he realizes that Doris is the one for him.

I think that Julian and Adrian should still move out and have their own office. That way they aren't at the mercy of Claudio's whims.
Urban- I definitely don't think that Ursula plans on playing by the rules (laws) to get her clutches on MD's baby. I think murdering MD after she gives birth is definitely on her list of possible plans. Then, even with Dan out of the way, she could fight Espy, grandmother vs. grandmother, for custody of the baby. And I'm sure she could get some judge to agree that baby would be better off with rich grandma instead of poor grandma.
Julian can be friends again like they were
Before or better, now that they know who the
Real liars are. Im still not sure that alma's on
Board with MD being max's one & only. But
Hes a grown man, he loves who he loves and
Momma need to get over it.
That young woman that helped MD is in jail,
Did one of the stooges call and lie to the police? Somebody needs to help her, cuz she
Is being abused by the jail maiden, and thats
Just wrong.
I love doris' nana, how she told hoheffa she
Didn't believe what she was saying about espy and Her girls. I loved watching hon and espy gang up on hoheffa and beat her up, but I wish they'll do that more often. I'll learn
More in the commemts. So far so good.
Vivi--Thanks for filling in. Your bullets are worth a thousand pictures.
I stand corrected on Doris' accent and vocabulary. It's true, even 20-30 somethings speak differently from old baby boomers even in the States, and often in the same families. And to live in the barrio successfully, you have to take on some of the trappings. Doris has acclimatized herself well. I do notice that Espy, Clara and MD limit their use of idioms and local slang, while Ho-Seffa is the champ (and she mumbles a lot, so I don't always catch what is important and what is used for emphasis).
I'm sorry, but I could not tolerate the prison scene for any reason. First of all, who gets sent to prison (as opposed to local jail) within 24 hours of being arrested (and that's referring to...yes, telenovelas). None of our other characters who were jailed were immediately transferred to prison, although a threat was there. What was Corina supposed to have robbed?
When I wondered if that was the last we'd see of Corina, I certainly didn't expect her to come back in such a loathsome, horrible way.
MD has always been quick to ask forgiveness for any transgression. That's good and bad. She recognizes an error and tries to expiate her guilt about it, but it bothers me that she keeps on making wrong decisions and hurting people and gets out of it with a simple, I'm sorry, please forgive me? And they DO.
Is there a snowball's chance she won't have to say sorry again in the rest of the run? Baby's fate rules that out. At least she has finally taken a stand against Dan-Dan and Max is with her. Brava!
Anita I thought of you when Corina left the VM for MD and the beating horrible. Anyone MD touches seems at risk cause her ex.
I also agree everyone rolls over for MD (though I have to admit Max had forgiven her before he opened the door) and at least she told Max it was because fear made her a coward but that was a lot of pain she put him through. Does she know what she's got? I'm pretty sure it won't be the last time and wonder if if he has a point where forgiveness is possible but forgetting isn't. Guess if he ever rejects her no matter the shit he goes through I'll be mad at him. She owes him a foot rub at least.
No way Claudio will ever let Isela go but I think she believes with a little work she'll have Orlando back, no harm no foul.
Hellashelle, I hope everything is alright with you.
I am guessing that Corina is a prostitute and they are always vulnerable to arrest. I suspect that this would be even more the case in Mexico. I'm sure that Jacinto and Daniel said she stole cash or something that doesn't need identification or something equally difficult to get fingerprints from.
Killing MD immediately after the birth of the baby does seem to be Mama Bear's plan. If Danny-Boy gets arrested this would be much harder for her to pull off. And I agree with an earlier post that if Ivana would actually be willing to go along with the demand for half her fortune for the infant she should be committed. She could get a perfectly healthy infant from any orphanage for much less money and exponentially less future grief.
It would not be to her advantage to have a baby with Danny-Boy's DNA because she would have to deal with him, Ursula, and Maleny forever or at least until they're all dead. Raising it to hate the Santibanez would be stressful for both her and the child and would be wrong in the extreme because of taking it away from MD. That's whom she should be talking to now.
Sorry Corina is being treated so horribly, but I'm glad she's back and not a random victimized woman. Hopefully, her case and MD's case will strengthen the charges against Dan and Jacinto.
Yay, Max knows the real MD. Maybe her don't-tell-Max phase has ended, but even if it hasn't he knows her M.O. and my guess is will continue having faith in her.
Ivana, bah humbug! Any psyche that would say she's suitable to raise a baby is nuts.
Ava
Youre right of course, about no good deed.......I also used that expression earlier before I had read your recap and posted same thing too, but you were first!
Ava
I love how Doris was explaining to Lory that her nana is "opened minded." Sounded tex-mexy to me and it was cute coming from my fave actress.
Ava
Of course, I especially want to thank Vivi for her bullet points. I've put them into the recap section for official-ness.
Again, I'm really sorry about today and a big thanks to you guys.
Was espy and her girls. But she'll probably
Lie about them again too. Thats what s lying liar does Best, they lie.
Nina- I think Josefa managed to also insult Espy and her daughters when she spoke to Chelito, but her main focus was Doris, and trying to hurt Chelito (and Doris) by making her disillusioned with her little girl.
I did write a recap and I'm going to post it below if anyone's curious.
Either there’s something about switching places with a prostitute while you’re fleeing your obsessive ex-boyfriend or hearing that your current love has been stabbed by the same guys that killed your dad will apparently give you some serious cojones because the MD that strides into the hospital gives zero f**** about Maleny or Ivana. She just wants to see Max.
Mal starts with insults and promises Dan will leave her alone if she heads back to wherever she went. Because of how much she trusts cheating skank Maleny and her rapist brother, MD just turns to the nurse on duty and politely asks for Max’s room number. Mal tries to hold her back, but MD will see Max even if she has to go over or through all of them!
Mal holds up the elevator, kicks everybody else off and stands in the door so it can’t go anywhere. So MD just shoves her over. (what?! Did all of viewerville also gain magical powers because I know I wasn’t the only one going “she heard me!”)
Nana Chela catches up with her niña, Doris, at Espy’s house. Espy thanks Chela for the rebel streak she passed down to Doris because it looks like a little rubbed off on MD and we’re all the better for it.
MD arrives in front of Max’s room with Mal protesting like a yapping terrier the whole way and Ivana quietly trailing in. Claudio and Alma are there, in the hallway, and give her grief too. She’s the one that burned the bridges, and now she wants to get back in?! If she really cared, why’d it take her so long to get there? Max listens from his room and slowly makes his way to the door. MD says she lied out of fear. Mal interjects that she ran off with her lover, Julian. No! MD protests. And now it all comes out: Ivana and the Santibanez wanted to buy her baby. Ivana admits to the accusation, but returns that MD was willing to sell. MD points out that she wasn’t even pregnant at the time! (with an implied "also: no way!"). But now she is…because Dan raped her. Mal scoffs that the pics her brother has on his phone say otherwise. MD says he’ll have to use them well because she came back to put him in jail. The door to Max’s room opens and he adds “And I’ll help you.”
Max invites MD in to clear things up and MD requests that Claudio and Alma be present for her explanation. They go in and Ivana actually looks very pleased about their reunion. Maleny chases her down and pretty much admits that Dan raped MD to get her pregnant and steal the kid to comply with their promise to Ivana…and the plan could still work. Ivana looks horrified…but not entirely uninterested. Mal offers to keep her informed of Ursula and Dan’s plans, if she’ll help her with something in return.
MD tearfully confesses that she lied to everyone and ran away because Dan and Ursula threatened to take her baby. She swears that Julian didn’t know about it, he just went along with her lie to protect her. Yes, Max figured that’s what was up when he saw her at the bus station alone. Claudio can’t comprehend why Julian would make that sacrifice, but MD says they care a lot about each other (just not quite like that). Alma still doesn’t get why she’d marry Julian if she loves Max, and MD explains Hono asked her to do it to get Julian out of town because the thugs that murdered her dad are free and after him. She asks for Max’s forgiveness.
Doris worries that her nana won’t approve of Orlando living in her apartment. She and Espy ponder the situation.
Meanwhile, Nana Chela goes to the market to get ingredients for Doris’ favorite dish. Josefa sees that there’s fresh meat in the vecindad and pounces immediately. She lays some chummy groundwork, then gets to business. She starts badmouthing MD and tells Chela that Orlando is living in Dori’s apartment. Gossip is not Chela’s cup of tea, and she tells Josefa that, but Josefa follows her anyway, spewing her typical defamations.
As movers pack up his and Julian’s office to put it in storage, Isela asks Adrian about her sister’s case. He reveals that he’s looked into Marta’s case, but there’s nothing unusual about it. Apparently she worked at a bank and all of the testimony and paperwork indicates that she stole and Claudio gave her a fair sentence.
Claudio and Alma sit in a waiting area. They’re not happy about the MD situation. Her circumstances are sad, but Alma wanted something better for her son. Claudio’s just concerned that bad situations follow her like a second shadow. Someone already tried to kill Max for God’s sake!
Max asks if MD’s really ready to charge Dan. She promises she is. And she would’ve come back either way when she’d heard he got stabbed because she loves him and she never would’ve forgiven herself for not being there for him. When he gets out of the hospital, Max says, wants to continue with all of their plans. He rubs her middle with his hand and gazes up at her smiling face.
Mal delivers the bad news to Ursula and Dan. MD’s back and she told Ivana and the Bustamantes everything. Ursula thinks this is great news! Now Ivana knows that MD’s pregnant and their plan can get back on track!
Crying, Ivana revisits the nursery. There’s a lone box of baby things left. She retrieves a blanket from it and presses it to her face.
Mal tells Dan and Ursula that Ivana said she wants nothing to do with the baby because it’s a product of rape. But Mal thinks she can change her mind. Dan and Ursula give that their usual dismissal. Just then, Ivana calls Mal and tells her she’ll take her up on her offer! D***, Ivana, you’ve legit stepped over to the dark side with this one.
Max fills Leo in: MD left to catch up on work and their parents aren’t happy, but are being civil. For someone who just got the love of his life back, he’s very subdued. Leo, on the other hand, is joyful, with an equal joyful Clara jumping on his back and playfully trying to take his phone. They’re kissing and everything about them is super cute.
MD FINALLY BROUGHT CHARGES AGAINST DANIEL! She put on her big girl pants and went down to the SVU herself! Clara, Espy and Chela congratulate her heartily.
Isela visits Orlando to tell him that he was right. Doris comes home to find her there. After Isela leaves, Doris, hurt and angry, blows up at Orlando for seeing her. Orlando thanks her for all of her help and hopes they can talk about this later.
MD checks her message and finds out that Corina got arrested because Jacinto (and Dan?) charged her with theft. Chela gives her some extra cash because “you might need that more than a lawyer.” (Just in case, we didn’t believe that the system was corrupt).
Fermin’s freaking out and people have to hold him down in the hospital. Jenny’s there, trying to calm him. Julian and Honoria arrive and Julian manages to calm him down.
Mal meets with Ivana to try to strike up an arrangement, but Ursula shows up. She happily sets the terms: she needs to divorce Dan immediately because Dan has no intention of staying with her, so why keep torturing themselves. Once that’s done, they can negotiate. She’s so smug about Dan not wanting Ivana that even though Ivana’s gone totally nuts, I want to slap her.
All of the Bustamantes talk. Julian will get his office back.
Corina’s been taken from jail to prison! (WTH?! Why so fast?) The female officer gives her a partial strip search while she cries and then beats her (three absolutely brutal strikes) with a night stick “for bring a liar”. It's highly, highly disturbing.
Maleny loses her mom and returns to talk to Ivana. Ivana’s going to give Ursula what she wants. Mal tells her it might cost half her fortune.
Clara tells Doris that Isela’s coming back to live with Josefa.
Isela tells her mother that Marta lied. She wasn’t innocent and Claudio sentenced her fairly.
I'm beginning to ascribe to the theory that Marta "lied" and actually stole the money, but it was Ho-seffa that made her do it. She probably figured Marta was ok for a few years in jail, no harm done, etc. She didn't count on the suicide. I wonder what Ho-seffa did with all the money--or did they catch Marta while she still had it. Tales still to be told, I guess.
