Caray, Caray!

At Ivana Enterprises, Doris and Maria Dolores have just learned that Ivana has a plan to defend MD in the lawsuit over the burning down of her tailoring shop.  The question remains what that might be and might mean.  She immediately calls Max to tell him she’s decided to fight the lawsuit rather than settle out of court.  Max thinks she’s crazy to do that.

At the same time, Ursula and Arango wrangle a bit more with Josefa the Heifer (I love that nick. That’s a keeper! Muchas Gracias.) as Alma looks on.  Josie trash talks about MD and agrees that she’s trash who jumps from bed to bed and the reason Julian came to bash in Daniel’s head was cuz he’s also been sleeping with her.  Alma says she’s there to find out the real reason Daniel and Juli fought.  She’s worried cuz Maxie is dating MD still.  “—Yes, you should be worried,” advises Ho-si.  However, Alma informs them all that Claudio assured her that Jul hasn’t been dating MD and that it’s nothing but a piece of gotcha gossip authored by Josefa.  Ho-sí says she witnessed the two of them in delicto flagrante herself.  Caras de self-righteous horror de Alma and Urrrrrsula.

At Bustamonte Law, Ltd., Julian thinks back to the romantic lunch with MD and their dancing together.  Max appears and breaks his reverie.  Juli comments that it’s really rough the way life can kick you in the butt in an instant.

Urrrrsula continues lying to Alma how MarDi broke up Ivaca and Danny Boy’s relationship by continuing to pursue him.  The reason Dan went to see her again was only because she’d given him an invitation.  She shows the mocked up provocative photo on his cell phone.  Alma is properly horrified once more. He went to defend MD’s honor when he heard she supposedly had slept with him as well.  Max says he knows better than that and so know worries.  What he does worry about is that Dan’s done something that he keeps over MD’s head to force her.  He asks if Juli might know what that would be.  Juli stays cryptic.  Giver her a lover’s support.

As Alma leaves, Arango mentions to Urrrsa that Maleny is capable of doing whatever it takes to get at the bottom about her papi’s death.  And HOW would he know this.  Arango stammers out that it would be the number of times he and she have been asked about it recently, right?



Alma hands Hosi a check to tide her over.  Apparently, she and Claudio have decided to become their benefactors.  Hosi mentally pats herself on the back and stuffs the check in her bra.

Meanwhile Dan is angry that his mother showed that picture to Alma because she’ll certainly show it to Max and he’ll be charged with rape.  Urrrrsa isn’t so sure.  She just wants to avoid a paternity scandal.

Back at Ivaca Designs, MD accuses her of planning the arson with Daniel.  Surely Jacinto was hired to do it for him or her and him.  She believes Iva is going to accuse Jacinto? out of revenge now.  “--With that kind of attitude we aren’t going to be able to negotiate at all, you and I.”  MarDi can’t imagine what she wants to negotiate over.  Why, MD’s pregnancy –the baby—to receive enough money in exchange for it that she’d never have to worry economically again about anything or anyone dear to her.  MD gets furious and Doris drags her out of the office to calm her down.  They don’t want to endanger their small business loan over this do they?

At the same time, Claudio and Alma are discussing the picture she saw and wants to show it to Max to regain his trust.  Claudio refuses, but adds I told him so cuz Isela warned me about her but he wouldn’t listen to me.  He attacked me instead!  So NO with the picture.  That could lead to another tragedy for Max this time—affecting his career and gawd knows what else!  Ise walks in on the two of them as Alma is suffering a major panic attack.  She offers to take Alma out to lunch which Claudio readily agrees to.

Doris and MarDi are totally offended by Ivaca’s crazy plan and realize she’s been leading them down the rose-colored pathway the entire time with this loan business.  Now this!  MD just want’s to get out of there and fast.  She’s feeling nauseous at just the thought of what this crazy woman wants—for her to sell her her baby!!!  Doris tries to get her to see it is one way to save them and to put Dan and Jacinto behind bars once and for all.  “—It just means doing things a little dirty to escape an injustice, ya know?”  However, MD doesn’t see it that way.  She rather put her fate into Max’s capable hands and Divine Justice.  She leaves but Doris stays.

Doris tells Ivaca that she’ll see if she can’t find a way to convince her.  Fine, but when you come back be ready to sign a contract.  A what?  Oh----h  Okay.

MD, meanwhile, has gone straight to Max’s office.  She informs him that it was Jacinto who burned down the tailoring shop.  She says she’s certain Danny Boy had something to do with it also, but she can’t prove it.

Across town, Maleny meets Urrrrsa’s shady doc at some dark bar/restaurant.  She wants answers from him about how he fixed the paperwork regarding her daddy’s death.  Shady Doc asks why bother him when she should be asking her mama.  She has pictures in her head of something but doesn’t believe she could possibly have killed her own father.  She whimpers as she reasons that she was his little princess and she loved him more than anything in the world!  Shady Doc says it disturbs him that her mother could have made her believe all these years that Mal had killed him when he noted and confirmed it was a suicide. She’s desperate to get his help.  “—I’m no psychologist.”  She has another childish temper tantrum and knocks his coffee cup into his lap.  Shady Doc ignores this.  “—If you truly loved your father, then worry for yourself and your brother and don’t allow your mother to destroy you two the way she destroyed him!”  He leaves without further clarification.  

Back in the barrio, Ise meets up with Orlando.  He’s still pissed at her for the trap she set up the other night, although Ise swears it was her that called the police.  She admits to him she’s sleeping with the boss, but not because she wants to!  It’s to get revenge because he must pay for her sister’s death.  He apparently accused her of a crime she swore she was innocent of.  It didn’t matter.  He sentenced her and she ended up killing herself in jail.

Ise and Orly argue about the true blame for her sister’s death. “She killed herself, Isela! He didn’t do it!” Tell that to her mother, she argues.  “--How would you feel to have lost your kid this way?”  So how does Ise really know that her sister was innocent or not, he screams back at her.  Ise says because La Metiche y Mentira de Mama tol’ her so!  Oh, like that means a lot! Like she’s so honest.  “—And you always believe everything she says, right?”  (Something screams stolen baby alert here.  The worst of the worst if she’s been sleeping with her baby daddy all this time!)

Max now knows about Ivana’s illicit desires to buy MD’s supposed baby from her.  He makes excuses and says, well she’s never really gotten over her inability to have more children.  He would never have imagined this from her if not.  She pities her and herself, considering what Danny Boy has done to the both of them.  Back to more practical things—how do they prove Jacinto was behind the fire?

Orly insists Claudio was only doing his job.  Ise screams back Sis was innocent!  “—You don’t have any proof of that, do you?  You took her word and now you’ve sentenced Claudio Bustamonte, his family and ME on nothing but her word.  I don’t know him, but I do know his sons and you know what kind of person your mother is and what she’s capable of doing.  .  You’ve not only decided to believe her but to destroy innocent people.”
