Antes muerte que Lichita #40 Monday 11/16/15: Alicia on the rise and Alex's secret uncovered.

Alicia's surprise presentation in kimono is a big hit - she then take off the kimono and underneath is a t-shirt and skirt, she says, and THIS is the heart of the Latina. (?) Anyway, Augusto loves the presentation and so does the client, who says: "This is much more original than the first one you showed me, I'm enchanted, it's good that Alicia and not Luciana is now our creative director." She gets applause.

After they leave (the client saying, "you robbed my heart,") Sandra screams at Alicia about pulling this surprise. Beto deflects the rage saying "I knew about it," which is not true, and Augusto points out that it was all a success so stop beefing. Alone, Elias congratulates Alicia: "you are truly a creative director and remember - it's better to surprise than disappoint."

Magos pathetically continues to more-or-less pole dance all around Luis, purported father of Ximena. He pays little attention. Turns out the blond in the photo on his desk is his girlfriend. [How did he get this job with an office so easily??] Mags is undaunted.

Beto tells Alicia not to pull a surprise like this again. She more or less points out that if she'd told him her idea in advance, he'd have stolen it. "But I'm still your boss. Never change a campaign like that. But you, you're changing every day." "Yes, and I have much farther to go."

Luciana locks herself in her room instead of showing up for dinner at the mansion. Augusto is getting beaten by Dafne at pool while he congratulates Alex on the good publicity he's gotten and how great his girlfriend is doing.

Beto and Gumaro figure out how to find out (for Augusto) what happened to Alex. They focus on the taxi. Roberto goes to Nacho, who says "I only let my wife and daughters use THIS taxi service (gives number), it's safe." They find the guy who drove Alex and Alicia, then trace back to the hotel. The manager tells them Alex had been there with a man, and that the man left first with the car, leaving Alex behind without his clothes. They are astounded.

The evil plot to destroy Alicia with the transparent dress failed utterly, all the magazines are full of the beautiful romantic young couple. Luciana and Chuchette snipe at each other, their mutual rage is exacerbated when Alicia storms in with the dvd of the tampered-with-by-the-frenemies Oki Oki campaign that was supposed to destroy her. She gives it to them and points out to Luciana that Chuchette's publicity campaign for her and Alex worked beautifully while the work she did for Luciana failed utterly. ("Divide and conquer," she tells us.)

Chuchette is for some reason getting demoted to a cubicle. She tells Luciana everybody at work hates her and calls her Lucy-fer. "I won't help find dirt on Alicia." "I'll do it myself" sez Luciana...

Don Augusto is leaving on another mysterious trip tomorrow. It appears from a conversation with Drako and some other goon that he's in some kind of Mafia-like connection to grow/launder his money and that he was shot by one of his mob connection's enemies. He is setting Roberto up to take the fall for all his so-far-undisclosed evil doing.

At Los Guttierez, all hope they will soon get out of debt, thanks to the carrito and Alicia's new job and maybe the new cafe, which has its soft opening next day. It's suggested that Magos could contribute at least a few groceries. She says, "Hey, I bought this bottle of milk," and suggests she needs a credit card, showing she has as much understanding of money as I did when I was five and wondered why anybody worked if all you had to do was sign your name on a check and get anything you wanted.

Elsa realizes Alex does not move Alicia's needle.

Beto passes Luciana's office when she has her head down and is sobbing. He reluctantly goes in to comfort her. She complains, nothing's going right. She grabs him and reminds him of their night of passion (which he claims he does not remember). He disengages. He says, why don't you calm down and try to be a good person. "Gray and goody-goody, like her? Never! Antes muerta que Lichita," which I thought was a pretty good gag.

Beto delivers a preliminary report (with no info at all) to Augusto, who cottons to the fact that there is somebody else (Gumaro) investigating too. "Finish up fast because there's a related issue - somebody is blackmailing Alex."

The cafe opens, Roberto swings by to say hi, Alicia unexpectedly arrives with flowers, Elsa tells her finally, in his presence, that it was Roberto who guaranteed the loan. Alicia is furious, Roberto takes her out in an alley, she yells and asks what are his motives, he kisses her, and the kiss is captured on cellphone...

... by Luciana, who's been following Alicia to playgrounds and other innocuous places to get dirt on her, but now has what she needs...

Tomorrow: she shows the video of The Kiss to Augusto.

Magos! What a waste of space!

Jane, enjoyed every word of this - clever and great fun.

"Elsa realizes Alex does not move Alicia's needle" was my favorite although "Luciana and Chuchette snipe at each other, their mutual rage is exacerbated when Alicia storms in with the dvd of the tampered-with-by-the-frenemies Oki Oki campaign that was supposed to destroy her" was a close runner up.

My favorite couple enjoyed a lovely dinner together, talking about their day, trying to solve what is going on in their little corner of the world while seasoning each other's meals to perfection. Of course I am talking about Gumaro and Roberto.

It was so gratifying to see Augusto finally thank Alicia. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he wore the most genuine smile I've seen to date. I don't think he used her name though (?) Now THAT might have been the biggest surprise of all. Even the animated Elias seemed uncharacteristically quiet.

Sandra's tantrums are getting tiresome. Get on the train girl or get off. It's leaving with or without you.

Luciana made a lousy spy but she got the goods, didn't she?

Thanks so much Jane!

Diana

Thanks, Jane. The recap was great! I especially enjoyed : "Elsa realizes Alex does not move Alicia's needle." I sure agree with your comment about Magos being a "waste if space!" Credit card? Really? What a dolt!

My faves:

Augusto publicly appreciating Alicia's presentation and shutting Sandra up.

Luciana actually saying "antes muerta que Lichita", too.

Luciana following Alicia around determined to find her "dark side" and getting the "kiss" video..

Augusto and his covert " business" dealings.

Luciana realizing that by Chuchette doing her job (promoting Alicia and her work) she is actually working against her. Oh, no! : 0

Since it seems that Augusto has an inkling to his son's homosexuality, I wonder if his reaction to the kiss will be "pragmatic"; maybe offering Alicua a deal: just marry my son for whatever in return and just keep any other relationships out of the public eye.

I am not liking Roberto at all these days.

Thanks for the great recap!

Rob may be her boss but he knows he has no right to be or experience to be. He is only looking to cover his own arse. It was a good thing Alicia didn't tell him.

I wanted to hug the Japanese exec when he said that he loved the presentation and called out Luci!

Augie seemed very impressed with Alicia and says she has "talent". Yeah! Of course, he is awful and now could ruin Rob's chances of ever getting his son back. Boo!

I think Augie knows or is starting to know that Alex is gay. I think he will be more angry at Luci for possibly ruining Alex's cover.

Totally agree Magos is dead space. Totally dead to me.

I did like when Rob kissed Alicia and she pulled away but then pulled him back in. I guess Alex's secret will be out to Rob now.

Thank you Jane this is perfect.

I've come to appreciate Augusto's appreciative looks.

Diana: "favorite couple" : Gumaro and Roberto. Yes! Too funny!

Thanks, Jane. Terrific recap. I missed a lot, but you filled it all in. Elsa realizes Alex does not move Alicia's needle was my fave too.

My favorite couple … Gumaro and Roberto.

Diana, so funny and so true. If Roberto, Alicia, and Mateo ever form a family together, they must have a live-in room for Gumaro.

Magos is not even chasing the blond guy to get a nice dad for her daughter but instead simply because she’s got the hots for him. Jane, you said it best: Magos! What a waste of space!

Thanks so much, Jane! ITA about Magos. She has a job now, and thinks it's a big deal that she bought one carton of milk? Looks like she has to move to plan B with her rich baby-daddy, since seduction looks like it won't work, and he doesn't seem to remember their drunken one night stand.

Love Rob and Gumaro together. Gumaro figured out pretty quickly that Alex is gay and Alicia is his willing beard. But Rob shot that down because Alicia would NEVER do something so underhanded, and she really seems to be into Alex. Ha! Little does he know. Rob doesn't seem to want to give this info to Agusto, but I don't think he'll have much choice. Agusto isn't a patient man.

Not happy that Agusto plans on framing Rob. He got 5 years when Sheila framed him. This could really put him away for a really long time, and be near impossible for him to disprove.

Thanks for the recap Jane. I too was confused at the skirt and T-shirt being the heart of a Latina. ITA that Magos is a waste a space. She is so annoying and her overt tactics of trying to get Luis attention are embarrassing. Was so glad that she found out he had a girlfriend.

Whoever said that Roberto is annoying I totally agree. I wish he could leave Alicia alone until he confesses the entire truth. All he does is whine about how he lost her and needs to forget about her but never does.

Why would Augusto team up with a shady Mafia like group....he has money and power already. Just does not make sense to me.

Best Moments:
The scene with Gumaro and him singing some sad song was hilarious.
Alicia outsmarting Luciana and Chuchette once again
Augusto genuinely showing respect for Alicia. And telling the whol

Thank you, Jane.

Oh, I forgot to put that in, about the song that Gumaro was annoying Beto with. He said it was just automatic, he had to sing when Gumaro played those chords. Very funny. And a little dance too.

Thank you Jane. Your recaps are always precise, compact and fun to read.

I loved it that Alicia's presentation was a big hit with the Oki Oki executives and it was like sweet icing on a cake when they said that they were glad that it is Alicia and not Luciana who will be handling their campaign.

I also love it when Alicia gets the best of/outsmarts Luciana and Chuchette.

I think that all of the Magos haters will be eating crow for their Christmas dinner
when Magos makes her big turn around.

The wedding scene in the intro does bother me. How will our favorites get out of that one?

must see tv
the gringo

Gringo- I don't think any of us have said Magos is incapable of changing. I think it's to be expected in a tn like this. But that doesn't change the fact that as of now, she is a waste of space, and doesn't seem to have plans for changing that. I'm glad she finally has a job. But what use is it if she's still not contributing to the upkeep of her daughter and home? She also doesn't do her current job very well, and I'm shocked Fatima or Sandra haven't fired her.

Thing is if Alicia stopped the charade with Alex, professed her undying love for Roberto and followed him around like the puppy he wants he still wouldn't have a public relationship with her nor tell her the truth. What he wants is for her to pine for him until/if he can forget about her. He's just reeling her in and bet not lost on him, she has real talent and may take his job. All his babbling and bitching nothing more than his ego and selfishness talking.

I haven't seen one thing that proves Magos gives a flip about anything or anyone but Magos. She is no less self centered than Luciana.

What is the name of the song Roberto was singing?

That was so funny. The was one of the best scenes, out of the whole episode.
