Antes muerta que Lichita #44 Monday 11/23/15: the worm continues to turn
Gumaro, who literally ran into Luciana outside the restaurant where Roberto is meeting with his lawyer, flirts hard with her, partially to save Roberto's ass and partially because he is very attracted to her. She calls him an indio sin gracia (play on her usual idiosincracia) and complains about the hairy guys and human contamination in Nacolandia.
Marlene Garbo wants to be Cleopatra in her own ads, with a few hundred extras, and pyramids. Or, instead, she'll be a Roman emperess and kill Christians in a coliseum. Alicia and Elias point out that these ideas, while undoubtedly magnificent, would be expensive and would not sell her products. Here's what they think:
Elias and Marlene continue their flirtation and are soul-gazing with joined hands when Sandra comes in.
Later Elias tells Sandra: Marlene doesn't like any of our ideas, we are are "un cero a la izquierda," that is, zero, "as our marriage was" - but when Sandra evinces jealousy he lights up and says, maybe our marriage was better than I thought - maybe 0.5 from the left on the meter.
Magos' revolting pole dance wriggling in front of the Guero continues though he says, "I don't want any more coffee! And I love my fiancee and we're getting married soon!" By accident Magos, Guero, and the door collide and he has to go to the hospital with a broken nose. Magos follows and offers him coffee there, too. Just when she tells him Ximena is his daughter, his fiancee shows up (of course), hears all, and leaves in tears.
The Guero finally tells Magos that the night she woke up next to him, naked as Eve, they hadn't had sex. "You were drunk and sad because Chanclas was cheating on you. I was a gentleman, I didn't take advantage of you." She is astounded, has the grace to be embarrassed, and goes to his girlfriend's house to confess her idiot behavior and declare: Guero is completely innocent. He shows up, proposes to Vanessa, they embrace, and Magos has finally done something right.
Augusto asks Roberto to keep Luciana away from the house so the engagement dinner with Alex and Alicia can be peaceful. At a restaurant, Luciana tells Roberto Alicia will soon be fired, confesses her escapade escaping the Duke but keeping his ring, and that she's under a warrant for arrest back home in Argentina. She wants some confessions from him too but he resists. She pries: is Mateo really just your nephew?
At the mansion, during the glacial family dinner, Augusto and Beatriz laud appearances and united families. "It's one thing on the outside and another on the inside," Alex says. "If so, it's for a good cause," purrs Bea. "Lies are a sin," reminds Dafne, who goes off to have a cozy chat with Alicia about how hard school is and how she'll never have friends. Alicia tells her to be strong "and you always have me."
Magos asks Ximena if she's pining for a dad, Ximena says no, I have grandpa.
Alicia tells Magos: "You're about to lose your job even though Fatima is a cream puff." Fatima has even seen Mag's contraband dumped in a sink! "Oh, but you'll save me, being as you are the fiancee of the owner's son," Magos announces complacently. "Not if you're an irresponsible jerk," Alicia says.
Brisa and Braulio are having dinner (plain unadorned spaghetti) in his pad. He says if he gets a raise he'll move to a bigger apartment and Brisa can stay in this one.
At the orphanage, Mateo wants his dad to tell him about his mom. Beto puts it off till later. Venus shows up, takes Beto off and tells him: with the revelation about his violence in prison Marta has a better chance of getting custody. Venus nods almost imperceptibly when he says, "but you know I would never hurt a child." She's warning him that the dark is rising.
Finally, in Augusto's office Sandra yells her head off about the changes he wants. He kisses her and they go to the meeting where there will be a full rearrangement of job titles. Alicia is named chief creative director.

Well, the proposal didn't really happen at the dinner, but it looks from the previews that Agusto forces the issue. The wedding is fast approaching...
I really wish Alex would actually take an interest in what is happening to his little sister and try to help her. I know he's in the middle of his own drama right now, but Dafne really needs some support.
I have to hand it to Rob for not playing dirty. He could have told the lawyer and Venus about Marta's mental issues, but he promised Angel he wouldn't and so far he's stuck to his word.
Yes, Magos finally did something right with Luis and Vanessa but it sort of zeroes out because she caused the problem anyway. It was too bad Fátima had to tell Alicia about Magos' shortcomings. She just should have fired her. Funny how Magos is having Alicia reporting her sick for tomorrow even after Alicia told her she would not be protecting her at work. Couldn't even wait until the a.m. to see if she felt better? I am still waiting for Magos' vandalism of the grocery store manager's car to come back to bite her. Wonder if it ever will.
Sandra was way too quick to be assuaged by more promises of living in the USA with Augusto. Too bad she did not see him wipe his mouth after he kissed her.
It was funny seeing Roberto and Gumaro commiserating with their heads together like two little kids.
Glad Dafne and Alicia got to talk and that Dafne knows she can count on her.
Can't wait to see the fallout from Alicia being named to her new position.
Daphne is such a sweetheart. Loved the shocked look on her face when her mom rudely dropped Alicia's garment (coat? dress?) on the ground.
Yay, the mystery of Magos's baby daddy is solved quickly and we can move on. Bring on Chanclas.
"She's warning him that the dark is rising"
If it were not for Venus Roberto would already have lost Mateo. Odd as it may seem she is his fairy godmother.
Well deserved promotion for Alicia unfortunately because an impending shotgun wedding.
Margos has finally done something right--YEAH!!! I was cheering and then she had to ruin the moment when she said to Alicia that you can/will cover for me. OH! Margos,
will you ever get on track? I'm starting to loose faith.
I can't wait for tonight to see Luciana after the announcement of Alicia's promotion. Luciana sure won't take that well. And what about Sandra? How will she react to Alicia now?
Yes, I did see Agusto wipe Sandra's kiss off. What's with that? He doesn't seem to love Bea and now he's wiping Sandra's kisses away. Where is this all going?
must see tv
the gringo
Sandra..its so disappointing to see her fall for Augusto's manipulations as well (but then again who hasn't??). She has been with him for 10 years and she still has not caught on.
Bea is nothing but a walking contradiction which Alex pointed out yesterday.
Alex...I wish he fought harder for his own happiness. He seemed to fold way to quickly.
Luciana has a had string of bad luck lately...nothing is going her way.
My favorite line of many was "At the mansion, during the glacial family dinner, Augusto and Beatriz laud appearances and united families". Excellent!
Such insightful comments today, I enjoyed reading every one. tofie, yes, Venus is indeed Roberto's fairy godmother and CeCe, ITA - Alex has not fought for his happiness at all. He gave in and caved immediately. I wish he would be more supportive of Daphne too Vivi, but he is so immersed in his own misery, he can't see anything else.
Alicia tells her to be strong "and you always have me." Daphne, you aren't alone - you do have a friend and a very loyal one. ITA Niecie, she is the best...
Thanks so much Jane!
