Lo Imperdonable #120 Mon 11/2/15 The Worst Gran Final Ever!

My friends, we deserved better than this.  Enough said.

"I yam what I yam!"
– Popeye

In Pablo's apartment in Mexico City, Manuel makes a lightning switch from blubbering bathos to manic menace.  He is going to be the same Manuel Sánchez Álvarez he has always been – cause why fix it if it ain't broke?  He jumps up, and grabs the paper Pablo and Ana Perla have signed, and waving his gun at them, backs out of the room.  Ana Perla, instead of shouting for joy that she and Pablo are still breathing, lets out a tearful  ¡No puede ser!

Tying up the turkey

Daniel, trussed up with gauze, watches Verónica drawing up an injection (which we never see her use).  Daniel can't believe Vero has been fooling him.  Virginia was supposed to give Vero the medicine.  "Virginia betrayed me!  Arrrrrrghhh!"

A quick cut to the vecindad and an 'Oh crap' moment for someone who richly deserves it.

Chelas has just tucked his loaded gun into his waistband; he opens his door to two policemen with their guns drawn.

It's so annoying when your uncle won't let you go out and kill people

Virginia makes a quick call to Manuel asking for his help.  They agree to meet right away – she's texting him the address now.  Before she can sneak out of the mansion, however, Jorge stops her.  Despite all her whining and wheedling, he refuses to let her leave the house.  After all, he doesn't want her risking another health crisis.

Sometimes even a warrior goddess needs a little help!

Vero is going to leave and let the police take care of Daniel. Before she can do so, however, Aarón is at the door, pulling off his white wig and shouting at her that she's not going anywhere.  Vero fights back as best she can, grabbing things and throwing them at him.  Even so, he manages to corner her and overpower her.  Just when it seems hopeless for the warrior goddess...

Crazy Saint Marty bursts into the room!  "Turn around because I'm going to kill you!"

Virginia gets suspicious

When Virginia tells Jorge that she feels dizzy, Jorge leaves her sitting in his office while he goes to get her medicine, taking care to lock her in as he leaves.  Virginia hears the rattle of the lock and checks the doors.  "Something very strange is happening," she says.

I should kill you, but it's not in my job description.

Martín is on top of Aarón and very close to choking him to death.  Vero begs him not to kill him.  "Let the police take him."  He agrees – unlike Aarón, Marty is no murderer.

Vero pulls the gag off Daniel's mouth so he can tell Aarón that Virginia betrayed all of them.  "I don't believe you," croaks out Aarón.  "Virginia knows I have her in my hands!"

Vero says Virginia is a manipulator who can't be believed.  Daniel backs her up. "If you untie me, I'll choke that traitor Virginia myself," he offers helpfully.

Everyone's attention turns to the sound of sirens approaching.  Slippery Aarón seizes the opportunity to break away from Marty and make it out the door.  Marty and Vero run after him, leaving trussed turkey Danny writhing on the floor and howling in frustration.

Self-improvement tip #74: Don't be impatient when you have to wait – use the time to read!

Virginia snoops through Jorge's papers and finds a copy of his will:  ¡Maldito! Debí imaginármelo! (Damn him!  I should have known it!)  "His only heirs are Emiliano and Verónica!"  She wrinkles her nose in disgust.  "The old miser – he never believed in me!  I hate him so much!"

When Jorge returns with her pills, Virginia is sitting in the chair panting and complaining that she can't breathe.   As soon as Jorge's back is turned to pour her a glass of water, she grabs a brass elephant paperweight and conks him in the noggin.  He falls to the floor, apparently unconscious.  She picks up his keys and locks him in the room.

Then without any pretense of a transitional scene...

The Honeymoon is over

Virginia is now standing in Daniel's rest home and hostage center and gloating over his pathetic cries for help.  [So where are the police?  Didn't we hear sirens several scenes back?]  She is wearing black gloves, never a good sign.  "You used me!" he says.  "Don't blame me for your stupidity," she retorts mockingly.  He says she won't feel like laughing when Marty finds the USB drive he left in his house.  He also left a letter revealing all Virginia's fechorías (acts of villainy).

Another quick cut...

Jorge is alive!

Chucho gets the door to the study unlocked.  Jorge refuses his offer to call a doctor or the police – he wants to go to the address Martín left them.  They head for the car.

The Kiss of Death

Now Virginia is straddling Daniel and stroking his face with a wicked looking knife.  ¿Quién tiene a quién en sus manos?  ¿Tú o yo?  (Who has who in their hands? You or me?)  She smiles as she draws the knife down his body to his belt, which she begins to open.  "You wouldn't... " he begins.

"I want to enjoy you up right up to the last minute – why deny me that pleasure?"  Virginia nuzzles up against his face.  "I love the look of terror on your face."  Daniel sobs.  "I'm going to give you the last kiss of your life – you'll love it!"  As she presses her lips to Daniel's, she raises the knife and plunges it into his chest.  She watches his death throes with pleasure, rubbing her face against his as his mouth fills with blood.

"Now to dispose of the evidence," she says.  She hides her gloves behind a cupboard.  But darn it all, her blouse is stained with blood.  She leaves the room, rubbing at the spot.

It sure looks like the same door to me, but it can't be because Maggie and Ginny would have bumped into each other, right?

Magdalena enters the room almost immediately.  [And still no police.]  She gasps in horror at Daniel's bloody and not quite lifeless body.  "Who did this to you?"  But now it's too late.  Daniel is dead.  Magdalena reflexively grabs the handle of the knife [No!!!!] and then recoils, rubbing her bloody hands on her blouse.

And now Virginia is back! Cursing Magdalena for meddling, she comes from behind and chokes her with a length of gauze.  Magdalena struggles to free herself...

A petulant rich girl turns would-be assassin

Mariana, in a kerchief and dark glasses, sits behind the wheel of her SUV outside Pablo's apartment and waits for her target. When Ana Perla crosses the street alone, Mariana accelerates and takes aim.  Ana Perla is hit, though not head on, and knocked to the ground.

The police must be waiting for Uspin's river taxi because they still haven't arrived at Daniel's rest home and hostage center...

Verónica runs back in and frees Magdalena from Virginia's death grip.  A moment later, Martín follows.  He has to hold Vero back so she doesn't kill Virginia with her bare hands (though frankly, I think this is a mistake on Marty's part).

Then Rebeca comes in.  (No, seriously.)

And then Botel wheels in.  (Really, he does.)

Vero struggles against Marty's manly embrace: "You're going to jail!" she screams at Virginia.  "You're going to pay for everything you did!  ¡Estúpida!"

Virginia remains defiant.  She says that her friends are coming to help her.

Another customer for the N-less hospital

Pablo sits with Ana Perla in the ambulance and then waits anxiously as she is wheeled into the emergency room.

Don't blame me!

Sirens sound again, and this time for real!  Jorge enters the now crowded crime scene ahead of the police.  Even Salma has joined the party.  Virginia pops up and points at Magdalena:  "She did it!"  The police see that the clothing of both women is bloodstained and so arrest them both on suspicion of murder.

The award for most incompetent criminal goes to...

Mariana is packing up for a quick getaway when the police show up at her door to arrest her for attempted homicide.  The city surveillance cameras show her license plate clearly.

And the award for the worst legal system goes to...

The Prado Castelo clan gathers in the justice building.  Martín makes a call to  "the best criminal lawyer in Mexico."  The wheels of the injustice system are already in motion, however; after examination of the evidence, a judge has decided to send both Magdalena and Virginia to prison where they will await trial and sentencing for first degree murder.

Which one should we save?

Pablo pleads with the doctor to save both his wife and his unborn child.  The doctor says it will be very risky.  Pablo knows Ana Perla's maternal love will get her through.

With his mother at his side, Pablo says a soggy prayer to the Virgin.

Hail the smiling lawyer!

Vero and Botel are both freaking out, and with good reason.  Marty tries to comfort his wife.  Rebeca tries to reason with her.  [Shut up, Rebeca.]  Even Salma expresses her dismay and tells Vero she's sorry for what is happening.  Then Marty's friend Jerónimo strides into the justice building with a confident smile on his face.  This is the lawyer everyone's been waiting for.  He greets Marty with a hug.  But when he notices Rebeca, his smile vanishes.  It turns out they were once engaged...

While Magdalena languishes in jail, Jerónimo mends fences with Rebeca

Over dinner, Jerónimo tells Rebeca he never abandoned her.  This is what happened: he was on his way to give evidence against a dangerous criminal when one of that man's accomplices shot him.  He was in a coma for more than four months.

Rebeca is horrified.  We are simultaneously amused (seriously? a coma? in this absurdly marginal character introduced in the final episode?) and relieved (at last someone will get that metiche out of Marty and Vero's life).

VIRGINIA PRADO CASTELO JAILED FOR MURDER

Ginny has made it to the front pages of the local tabloid.  Manuel is dismayed at the news and sure that Martín is responsible.  Aarón wonders if Virginia betrayed them.  Manny says they have to find out – if she did, they'll get even.  In the meantime, they need somewhere to hide. And he knows just the place...

Salma's on a new team now

She sits in the home office with Jorge, Vero and Marty.  Vero says they have to find the USB drive that Daniel hid in Marty's apartment and present it as evidence against Virginia.

We've obviously missed a chunk of this conversation.  Do we care?

Jerónimo has been crying.  He asks Rebeca if she has forgotten him.  She answers that it would be impossible to forget a love as great and as profound as theirs.  She never stopped loving him, not for a moment.  Now she knows why she was so attracted to Marty – he reminded her of him.  Jerónimo asks her to come back to him.  She says yes.

A crucial piece of evidence

Salma gives Vero her cellphone and tells her it contains a video of Virginia's confession to Mati's murder.  She doesn't know who sent it to her.  Marty thinks it may have been Daniel – maybe that's why Virginia killed him.

A miraculous recovery

Ana Perla has responded well to a blood transfusion.  The doctor says she needs peace and quiet for her recovery.  "Like the country?" asks Pablo.

The Courtroom

Oh wow!  It's the hanging judge who presided over Marty's hearing!  Vero tells Jerónimo about the video.  The prosecutor immediately objects to its introduction as evidence.  The judge, perhaps knowing that Vero is a force to be reckoned with, says he wants to see the video and decide for himself.

The video is projected on a big screen so the whole courtroom can watch Virginia and hear her damning words:

"Daniel, are you afraid I'll kill you the way I killed that stupid fat woman Matilde?  How dear!  Why don't you prescribe a tranquilizer for yourself?"

In light of the new evidence, the judge says he needs to examine the case more thoroughly before making his decision.  He tells Jerónimo that it is his last chance to find solid evidence in his client's favor.

CSI: Mexico City

A giggle-worthy scene shot in tones of sepia and gray.  Chalk outline on the floor.  Yellow crime scene tape.  Guys in latex gloves and lab coats measuring stuff and dusting for prints.  Jerónimo casts an expert eye around the room.  He moves the cupboard away from the wall, revealing the black gloves that Virginia stashed there.

A new hearing is convened

Jerónimo presents the black gloves in evidence: they bear traces of Daniel's blood and are presumed to belong to Virginia since they have her initials.  Virginia leaps up and denies owning them.  "Verónica and I have the same initials.  Magdalena probably took them from her daughter!"  Then, with the judge's permission, Jorge examines the gloves up close and recognizes them immediately as the ones he gave Virginia for her birthday.

That's all the judge needed to hear.  Magdalena is to be released immediately.  As for Virginia, she is sentenced to a maximum of 50 years in prison.

Virginia cries and calls out for her uncle and her mother.  She says she can't breathe.  Salma rushes to her in a futile attempt to rescue her.  Again.  But Virginia is taken away.

Lots of hugs in the courtroom – Vero and Maggie, Vero and Marty, Maggie and Botel, Rebeca and Jerónimo...

Don't count her out yet

The ambulance carrying Virginia is having engine trouble.  The driver pulls over and checks under the hood.  He asks one of the prison paramedics to sit at the wheel and start the engine when he gives him the word.  A female paramedic is alone in the back with Virginia.

The problem is resolved.  The second paramedic climbs into the back to join his partner and the prisoner – and finds his colleague facedown and bloody.  The prisoner is gone.

The prisoner turns up in a little hut outside Mina Escondida

Aarón warns Virginia that she won't be able to manipulate them.  Manuel holds a knife to her neck and says he won't forgive her for toying with his feelings.  Virginia does what she does best – she lies, denies, and tries to seduce...

Another quick cut without transition...

The Ghost of the Old Goat

Manuel paces and wonders aloud why Virginia and Aarón are taking so long.  Weren't they able to buy the guns in Pueblo Verde?  He tries to catch a few winks on the cot in the hut.  Suddenly a familiar voice cuts through the silence.  "Manuel."  He turns and sees the Old Goat.

"You have learned nothing.  I never raised you to take the path of evil."

Manuel's eyes are bugging out of his head.  He cowers in the corner, seeming to grow smaller and smaller.

"Repent before it's too late!"

And another dizzying cut!

We have to have a wedding at the end, right?

The miraculously recovered padre Juan presides over the wedding of Arturo and Blanquita in the church in Mina Escondida.  How much time has elapsed?  Long enough for Ana Perla to be hugely pregnant. Marty and Vero are there, and so are Botel and Magdalena.  Ramón, accompanied by an attractive young lady, is sitting front and center in a shocking pink jacket.

Evil, Inc.

Aarón, Manny and Virginia lurk in the shadows outside the church.  Aarón says there's not a single soul in town.  "It's like that here when there's a wedding or a funeral," Manny explains. "This time they're going to have both, thanks to us," Virginia says with a coquettish smile.  Manny strokes her cheek.  The three agree that even if one of them is caught, the others will carry out their vengeance.  "But they won't catch us," declares Virginia.

The night sky lights up with fireworks to the delight of the wedding party.  Suddenly a gun is fired and all eyes turn to the sound.  (How do they even hear the gun over the fireworks?)  And there is Aarón standing at the top of the stairs threatening to kill anyone who moves. Nanciyaga runs somewhere ...

Martín and Pablo approach Aarón and try to draw his attention away from their women.  Meanwhile Vero runs to tell Magdalena what is happening.  Raymunda runs to find Polo.  Ana Perla doesn't want to leave Pablo.

Aarón screams that he has come for Verónica and Magdalena.  He fires into the air repeatedly.  Marty says the police are on their way.  "That remains to be seen," says Aarón.  He starts to hobble away.  Marty and Pablo run after him.

That's the cue for Virginia, in a black hooded bat-like blouse, and Manuel to pounce on Ana Perla.  Manuela claps a hand over her mouth and holds a knife to her throat.

Marty catches up with Aarón, who seems to have dropped his gun.  They scuffle.  Marty won't kill him – he wants to turn him over to the police.  But as usual, it doesn't turn out that way.  Somehow, Aarón manages to push Marty down a slope.  As Marty clings perilously to the steep edge, Aarón shouts after him:
¡Todo lo que tienes de bravo, lo tienes de imbécil!
(You're as stupid as you are brave.)

"You fell right into a trap!"  They thought Aarón was done with, but he's better than ever and the fun is just getting started!  And now he's going to get Magdalena and Verónica!

These boots are made for walking... to hell

Virginia stalks her Magdalena and Verónica, following them into the church where they are praying.  Pointing her gun at mother and daughter, she tells them they have Martín.  She orders Verónica to come with her.  Vero does, for Marty.

Marty is still scratching to hold on...

Now Aarón stumble-swoops in and grabs Magdalena.  Vero sees this and it spurs her to action.  Catching Virginia off-guard, she pushes her down and knocks the gun out of her hand, and then runs after Aarón and Magdalena.  Virginia gets up and picks up the gun, but before she can pursue Vero, the police arrive and give chase.

Meanwhile Vero mounts a horse and rides off to rescue Magdalena.

By invitation only

"Now I know what I have to do," Manuel tells Ana Perla.  They are in the hut where the Evil Trio have been hiding.  At the moment, he is cowering on the cot.  When Pablo rushes in, Manny points to the Goat Ghost and says:  "Tell me you don't see him!"

The apparition of the Old Goat speaks:
Sólo tú me puedes verVoy a ser la voz que resuene en tu cabeza toda la vida.
(Only you can see me.  I'll be the voice that echoes in your head for the rest of your life.)

Manny begs them to help him.  Pablo asks Ana Perla what is happening.  She says she's afraid her brother has gone mad.  "Get out and leave me alone," screams Manny.  Pablo has to drag Ana Perla away because she doesn't want to leave him.

Meanwhile, when Vero finally reaches Aarón, he pushes her down and she falls, hitting her head on a rock.  Then he concentrates on Magdalena...

Hung up

Manuel, no longer able to live with his demons, climbs on a rickety table and hangs himself from an overhead beam.  [It's about time.]

Burning

A fire is blazing.  Magdalena is tied to a tree.  She watches helplessly as Aarón ties up Verónica.  He is going to make her watch her daughter die – and then he'll take care of her.  Somehow, Magdalena breaks loose.  Picking up a stout stick, she stands behind Aarón and swings.  Thwack!  A home run!  Aarón tumbles over and falls into the flames.  Magdalena quickly frees Verónica.

Et tu, Manny!

Virginia returns to the hut only to find Manuel's dead body hanging from the rafters.  She cries out:  "No, not you, Manuel – you were all I had left!  I lost Demetrio and I lost you too!"

The Warrior Goddess Rescues her Consort

Verónica tosses a rope to Marty and uses her horse to pull him up and over the edge.  What a woman!

But the evil Virginia is still on the loose – I guess those little Pueblo Verde cops were no match for her – and intent on getting even with "all of them."

Verónica on horseback leads the sad parade

Aarón is a little charred, but he can still hobble along behind Verónica his hands tied together and bound by a rope to the horse.  Marty brings up the rear.

Destiny

Look! Nanciyaga and Emi are together!  "Maybe our destiny is present for us here," Nanciyaga says.

Virginia watches Emi and Nanci and thought-bubbles that her enemies are going to fall, one by one.

Emi and Nanci stand in a stream, where she gives a blessing for souls who join like currents of a river.  She knows that the man as blonde as the sun wants to open his heart to her.  Emi is mystified and he asks her to speak more plainly.  She will, but first they have to purify themselves in the river.  Emi still doesn't understand why they have to do all this.

The stuff of myth

The hooded figure of Virginia approaches silently.  She takes careful aim and fires, hitting Emiliano in the back.  Nanciyaga holds Emi and cries out that the Virginia is going to die, and that her body will fall and break into a thousand pieces.

"I hate you," screams Virginia.  "If you hadn't opened your mouth and revealed everything about Demetrio, I would be the Prado Castelo heir right now."

Nanciyaga addresses Emiliano, who slumps over as if dead:  "Now do you understand my words?  Our destiny was written..."

Nanciyaga pivots around and Virginia shoots her in the back.

"... the sun and the moon will love each other among the waters.  Every sunset and every sunrise they will meet again."

She kisses him and they fall together, swirling deep down into the water.

Pueblo Nuevo

Marty, Vero, Salma and Jorge are together in Pierre's hotel.  They are mourning Emiliano's death.

A vertigo-inducing moment later, Virginia is pointing a gun at Verónica on a fragile-looking suspension bridge high over the river.  As Marty, Salma, Pablo and Ana Perla look on in horror, the V-girls struggle and both fall into the river.  They survive the fall, but the death struggle continues in the water.

When the group on the bridge hurries down toward the water, we see that padre Juan is also with them.

Now Marty is in the water too.  He swims up to the battling V-girls and pushes Virginia away.  Vero and Marty struggle to stay above water...

In the very next scene...

They are all out of the water.  Virginia is standing at the edge of the waterfall and Pablo is urging her to turn herself in.  "I don't want to go to prison," she wails.

Padre Juan tries to reason with her: "If you turn yourself in, we can negotiate a reduction of your sentence."

She's no fool, she says.  She knows she'd be locked up for life.  She knows they all hate her – but she hates them much, much more.

Salma steps forward.  She has always loved her, she says.  Virginia appears moved.  She allows Salma to get closer and to embrace her.  Then she says into Salma's ear:  You were always a fool!  She tightens her grip and slues around, trying to take Salma over the edge with her.  But Salma somehow resists, clinging to the top, and the others are able to pull her back.

It is only Virginia who falls to her solitary, bitter death... and her body breaks into a thousand pieces.

Thirty Seconds of Villain-free Happiness, though tinged with Grief for the Loss of Young Emi and Nanciyaga –

Jerónimo proposes to Rebeca.  Are we supposed to care?

Marty and Vero renew their vows at the waterfall of their first passionate encounter.  Padre Juan gives them his blessing.  Their nearest and dearest (or at least those who have survived this bloody novela) applaud and shower them with white petals.

Marty and Vero embrace.  Vero is convinced that everything in her life led her to this place, to Marty and to their little paradise.

"My paradise is loving you," replies Marty, "and I'm going to love you every day of my life."

THE END

Comments:
Thanks to all the commenters who made this fun, even when (or maybe especially when) the novela itself let us down. And thanks to our wonderful team captain Mauricio and to teammates AuntyAnn, Eli, Adriana and LatinaInMd and to our star pitch-hitter, Carlos!

Oooh I had so many problems with this finale! I will recount all the problems I had later BUT the biggest problems were:

Why did they spend so much time on Rebeca & Jeronimo? I like the actors but too much time was spent on these two.

Why was Magdalena even at Daniel's hideout?

How were Manny & Ginny able to just go from Mex City to Mina Escondida so easily and without detection?

Where were Claudia, Pierre & Nicolas?

Why was Ana Perla so dumb to the end? Why was she running towards gunshots, hanging around cliffs and hanging on swinging bridges while pregnant? Not to mention consoling Manny?

Why was Aaron so easily led to jail?

How many head injuries will Veronica have to endure?

Why did Salma have Veronica's phone? Wasn't the video sent to HER phone? (Aaron had Vero's phone)

Why did Vero & Crazy Marty renew their vows the next day at the same spot Virginia killed herself?

Why were Blanca & Arturo getting married? Did she finish her nursing studies? (. She was a beautiful bride btw)

Why did Emi & Nanci have to die?

This is the ironic thing: after all of Virginia's scheming, lies and killing, VERONICA ended up with it all: Demetrio's gold mine AND being the sole heir to Prado Castelo!

The ending was too rushed and silly. It was far worse than the Que to Perdone Dios ending.

Thanks for the recap NovelaMaven!

I had watched the original Televisa broadcast a month ago and thought it was terrible (just as many fast transitions with no explanations). Sounds like the edited Univision version didn't cut too much out because I can't really think of anything important that was missing.

The only thing I remember missing was the last scene with Arturo & Blanquita in bed about to make love for the first time. Blanquita was nervous because it was her first time. Yes, that was the really the last scene with those two in this show. Notice how they weren't at the vow renewal at the very end, yet Ramon was! WTH. Botel was also missing, but maybe that can be explained by the wheelchair-inaccessibility of the cliff?

I seem to remember one last scene with Pierre and Romeo, so they weren't completely absent like other characters.

They reallllllly should have cut out the Rebecca/Jeronimo scenes though; what a waste!!

This is definitely the worst finale I've ever seen. Why no flashforwards to show how everything and everyone turned out? We have no idea what happened to everybody! So that whole thing with Pablo's mom and Jorge went nowhere? What about Nicolas and Salma? Why no Claudia at all? (Not that I'm complaining about not seeing her again...)

So disappointed in this TN now. What an unfortunate way to end it.

What a huge disappointment!!! Big Time!! What were Rebecca and the boyfriend in the finale for??? How stupid! I won't go into all of the faulty transitions, illogical situations or endings for the evil ones, but will say that this is absolutely the worst finale I have ever seen and the whole TN was so poorly put together despite the great actors, who were all doing their best, I will never watch another Meijia production again. I feel badly for the actors.

Pasion y poder here I come.

Gale

I would've written the finale so that

1. Virginia snoops in Jorge's office & discovers she's been written out of the will; she is incensed. Then Daniel (who was able to get loose) calls Virginia to tell her Veronica escaped, again.

2. Virginia goes to Daniel's lair; she calls him stupid for letting Veronica escape again and shoots him in the chest.

3. Magdalena is not on trial for Daniel's murder. Magdalena doesn't come to Daniel's lair at all.

4. Instead of Virginia escaping from the police when they discover Daniel's body (which makes the police seem real stupid), Virginia, Manny & Aaron are conspiring when they hear on the radio an alert that Virginia is wanted for the murders of Daniel & Matilde.

5. The Prado Castelo gang head to Mina Escondida to get away from the bad press of Virginia's crimes. Unbeknownst to them, The Evil Gang is back in town, too.

6. While Claudia slathers lotion on her leg in Pierre's hotel, Emi & Veronica take a walk. He asks her forgiveness for having Marty thrown in jail and accusing her and Marty of defrauding PC. He also wishes her well in her life with Marty & says he intends to remake his life with Claudia. Virginia is lurking behind a wall. Veronica forgives Emi & says he's always been her best friend. She bids him farewell & leaves to go find Marty. Nanciyaga pops up & they decide to take a walk in the woods; Virginia follows them.

7. Emiliano & Nanciyaga talk by the river; Nanciyaga tells Emi about the elders saying they were destined to be together forever. Emi wonders if that were to happen, if Nanci would be comfortable in a big city...it would be a shame to take her out of nature. Then Emi chuckles & says perhaps he'd stay in nature with her and get away from the headaches & heartaches of the city. Then Virginia pops up with her gun, whining about Emiliano & Veronica & stupid Jorge taking it all away from her, that everything should be HERS & not THEIRS and if SHE can't have it, THEY can't either. Nanci says some mumbo jumbo about Mala Mujer. Virginia fires towards Nanci but Emiliano catches the bullet instead. Emi whispers about seeing Nanci in the next lifetime & Nanci comforts him until he dies. Virginia tells Nanci she won't have to wait long until the next lifetime, she can join Emi now! and shoots Nanci in the head.

Emi & Nanci lie together in death; their souls walking together for eternity.

8. The PC gang is devastated by Emi's death. Jorge decides to have Emi buried in Mina Escondida so he can be at peace, which eluded him in the city. At Emi's funeral, everyone is devastated, Padre Juan is presiding, when Virginia & Aaron bust in with their guns, saying they can all go join Emi right now! Crazy Marty & Pablo rush Aaron while Virginia & Veronica fight. The Goat Family rushes Ana Perla to safety; Manny is lurking behind a wall, sees them exit the church & follows them. The townspeople have heard about the commotion at the church & somebody reports having seen Manny so they take up arms to go get Manny.

9. The police bust in the church, but Aaron has managed to snatch up Veronica and has her hostage by gunpoint. He and Virginia escape with Veronica with Marty & the PC Gang & the police hot on their heels.

10. Meanwhile Manny has Ana Perla, Pablo & the Goats hostage. Grampa Ghost appears & tells Manny he is a disgrace to the family & he did not raise him to be this way. Manny starts screaming at Grampa Ghost, then points the gun to Ana Perla & blames her for all his troubles in life. Pablo & the Goats beg Manny not to hurt his sister. Grampa Ghost tells Manny not to hurt his sister. Manny puts the gun to his head & just as he is getting ready to pull the trigger, the mob bursts in & beats Manny to death; there's nothing the Goats can do to save him. Ana Perla sobs.

Laughed out loud at the title! Definitely Awful Awful Finale!!!

But first off let's give a big shout out to all of the amazing recappers and posters that keep this enjoyable!! Yes we did all suffer together.

Only two things I like about the finale: 1. Daniel dying at Ginny's hand was apropos. 2. Manny killing himself and Ginny realizing that both the guys she cared for (though I didn't realize how much she did want Manny) committed suicide.

Biggest hate: Emi and Nanci dying! WTF!! And what was worse was there was barely a moment given to mourn their deaths. I don't think I saw a tear. We never saw Emi reconnect with Vero after finding out she was alive. What happened bet Emi and Claudia? Whole thing was awful. As in Robo, they needlessly kill off characters in the finale. Sergio Sendel is probably thinking, "i'm going back to playing villains after this debacle".

The moment Marty's lawyer said "Rebeca?" I was like "And there it is!" Of course she has to end up with someone. Her whole character was pointless. And then they wasted more time with them.

Of course AP had to cry some more.

I wanted Aaron to burn to death. Can't believe they let him live...even if him being roped and led through the streets with Vero on her horse was a nice visual.

With all of the pain and death, the happy vow renewal ceremony seemed completely out of place.

I'm always disappointed with the finales of the tn dramas. Granted I haven't seen many, CI, LG, LQLVMR, QTPD...Just rushed and unnecessary deaths.

Oh well, thank you all for playing!

11. Aaron has dragged Veronica to the top of the cliff with a gun to Vero's head. Marty & the PC Gang beg Aaron not to hurt Vero. Aaron tells Maggie to come to him, so she & Vero can be together forever in eternity. Virginia starts airing out her problems with the PC gang, starting with Vero & ending with Salma. She whines that it's not fair Veronica ends up with EVERYTHING...a man who loves her, Demetrio's gold mine which should've been HERS and the Prado Castelo estate. She tells Salma all of this is HER fault because if she had presented Virginia as her daughter to begin with*, Jorge would've adopted her as his daughter and SHE would have it all.

Salma tells Virginia she is wrong, Veronica is not the reason Virginia lost it all, it's Virginia's own fault, that people loved her but it was never enough for her, she always wanted what other people had instead of being appreciative for what she did have. That Virginia could still have her love but she had to pay for all that had done, including killing Emiliano.

12. Maggie & Vero try to break free of Aaron while Crazy Marty & the cops rush him. Aaron drops the gun and is cornered by the cops at the edge of the cliff. Vowing never to return to jail again, Aaron jumps off the cliff to his death; Marty comforts Vero.

13. The cops place Virginia under arrest but she starts having an attack for real. But nobody believes she is having a heart attack. Virginia breathes her last breath & everyone still thinks she is faking; but she is dead. Jorge comforts Salma at the death of her daughter.

A few weeks later...

Marty & Veronica renew their vows at the waterfall, with Jorge, Salma, Maggie & Botel in attendance.

A year later...

The PC gang reunites for Blanquita & Arturo's wedding. Ana Perla & Pablo hold their baby girl Juliana. Rebeca & Jeronimo announce their engagement. Jorge announces the creation of the Emiliano Prado Castelo foundation for the Arts; Claudia & Nicolas will work there. Salma* and Jorge have decided to go their separate ways; the pain of knowing Salma's daughter killed Jorge's son is too great. But they still have great affection for one another; Lucia has been a comfort to Jorge in these trying times.

Veronica & Martin arrive; Veronica's pregnant belly is prominent. They smile at each other, promise to love each other always and join the rest.

*How come the cops were never after Salma after she kidnapped Virginia? Is Salma even her real name?

Thank you Novelamaven for making lemonade out of a lemon. I think this was my 6th TN but definitely the first that I just turned the final off! It was so bad, so ridiculous! If I could I would have returned it! I know I may be alone in this, but for me, much of this story had potential! I really liked Ana Brenda as well as Ivan Sanchez. It looked as if they got about 3/4 of the way through and said, "You know, I'm sick of writing this. Let's just tie up the loose ends and who cares how we do it." Totally disappointed. Thanks for covering it though! Since I stopped watching I can now DELETE from the dvr!
Thanks!
Rebecca

And if Mariana had to be mentioned in my re-write of the finale, Pablo & the Goat Gang could read in the paper that Mariana was arrested in the United States for destroying all of Pablo's painting and is facing 20 years in prison because the paintings were valuable or something.

Carvivlie, thank you! I agree with your critique completely. I was also particularly disturbed by the direction the Emi/Nanciyaga story took (I was so hopeful when I saw them together!) I've enjoyed your thoughtful comments all through this crazy novela.

Rebecca, it WAS ridiculously bad. And I also thought it had potential. For a very long time, it felt like the Little Novela That Could (I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...). Alas, in the end, it could not.

On the bright side, I'm so grateful that you have been reading and enjoying the recaps and maybe learning a little Spanish with us. Thanks!

J, if the last scene shown on Televisa was Blanca and Arturo on their wedding night, then all hail the Uni tijeras!

Gale, see you on P & P!

Hope everyone is doing well. I have not posted, because I am in Delaware for work for the next four months (No Univision at the hotel I am staying at) and I was literally behind 12 episodes. I spent the whole weekend glued to my laptop catching up on UVIDEOS getting ready for the "grand finale" and I just finished watching the finale and I have to say that NovelaMaven summed it up... "My friends, we deserved better than this. Enough said".

WTF!!!!! (please excuse my french). What was that?!!!

The fact that Virginia turned out be the sociopath that I knew that she was to the bitter end and died an ugly death did not bring any closure to me (LOL) and Manuel going crazy (I use that term very loosely) and killing himself...huh? (really?!) What the hell?!!!!!

The only redeeming scene in the "WTF episode" for me was when Virginia found Manuel... the irony of her saying: "No, not you, Manuel – you were all I had left! I lost Demetrio and I lost you too!" ... the two men could not have been MORE different, but it was a poignant and poetic statement that represented Virginia...Demetrio represented the Virginia that was the puppet master...the Virginia that everyone believed was good and noble and Manuel represented the "real" Virginia...SOCIOPATH!!!!!!

NovelaMaven: I've enjoyed your writing immensely...you are truly a gifted writer. Thank you for all the chuckles.

The wheels of the injustice system are already in motion

Jolie, Thanks so much for your kind words. I agree that the fates of the villains brought no closure. If I believed Virginia capable of finer feelings, I might have been similarly moved by what she said about Manny and Demetrio. :-)

I did think Virginia's last scene with Salma was authentic though. (I didn't have much hope for Salma. I'm glad the gang pulled her back up.)

However we may curse Univisión, it is nice to have the show available on UVideos. (It would be even nicer if they didn't restrict access.)

Thank you, NovelaMaven, for your last fantastic recap of this TN, and thank you to all of you wonderful recappers who made this ride a truly enjoyable one. Also, thanks to the Patio for your witty comments and great laughs along the way.

I agree with you all that the finale was disappointing. Too many rushed scenes and not enough time to develop anything. Worst scenario for me was the deaths of Emiliano and Nanciyaga.

Glad Vero, our Warrior Goddess, showed her spunk and that she and Martín ended on a good note.

I actually understood AP being upset about what was happening with Manny. He was her brother, and that's kind of how AP is. I thought Manny's hanging was appropriate, and I didn't expect it.

As for Virginia, fitting ending for her I think.

Have to run to work, even though more to say, but to close: Muchas gracias a todos!

Thanks, Mari! I'm delighted that you enjoyed the recap, even if the episode itself was a disaster. I've appreciated your always thoughtful and often funny comments all along – we recappers do much better work when we feel we're in a conversation and not just delivering a monologue.

Good point about Ana Perla's nature. Whether we liked her or not, her character was one of the few who stayed consistent throughout. Manny WAS her brother and she could never quite give up on him.

Ok if Jeronimo was the best criminal lawyer in all of Mexico, how come Marty didn't call him for HIS trial when he was accused of defrauding Prado Castelo?

Thanks NovelaMaven for the recap. Thanks you all the other recappers for doing this weekly.

This was the worst finale I have ever seen!!! So unsatisfactory.

So Emi never got to meet Vero after she was alive? No mourning his death?

The Daniel apartment scene was ridiculous with almost half of the main cast were there! What a joke!

There was so much hype about the finale and it was just rubbish.

The only thing I saw good about the ending was Martin and Vero's vows

Thanks for turning this botched gran final (easily the worst ending ever) into a hilariously funny rippin' yarn. It's been such a treat having you as one of out Spirit Guides and entirely appropriate that this last episode fell into your talented hands.

I pretty well have known all along that Virgina had to die but why the heck did they have to kill off Nanciyaga? Now who's going to look after those poor orphaned snails?

Imagine how tough Ana Perla's child will be. The kid's a survivor. He went through more near death experiences while still in the womb that most people have in an entire lifetime. He may not turn out to be the smartest kid in his class but he'll sure be the most durable.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I for one am relieved that at least things worked out well for Rebeca.

Carlos

Dying was probably the only way Nanci & Emi could be together. She never would've wanted to leave Mina Escondida and even if she did, she probably wouldn't have fit in with city culture or even the town culture.

Meanwhile Emiliano would've had to stay in the city to head up Prado Castelo & marry Claudia when he really would've wanted to be studying pre-Hispanic art & nature.

The only way they could've been together happily in life is for Emiliano to stay with Nancy in nature, but Emi would've had family & society pressures not to.

Nancy "fell" them into the river before they died to purify their souls.

I'm ok with Emiliano & Nanciyaga dying together. Also they had to kill the two characters that obsessed over Vero & Marty to give V & M a happy ending.

You're welcome, Duchess!

Thanks so much, Carlos! I'm so impressed by the strength of the consensus around here today (though the gringo has not yet weighed in). Diehard fans and those with tongue firmly in cheek agree on the egregiously dreadful quality of this gran final. Up to now, I have contended that "a good telenovela" is an oxymoron and "a bad telenovela" is a redundancy. I'm going to have to rethink that.

I agree with you on all points: I hated seeing Nanciyaga sacrificed like that; I kept thinking that Ana Perla's kid was amazingly resilient; and I was glad that Rebeca found herself a hobby.

Your comments have been one of the brightest spots in this space, and I continue to be grateful for them.

NovelaMaven, the last scene on Televisa was also the vow renewal. The scene with Blanca/Arturo on their wedding night was just the last scene with those two characters, and it was pointless like so many others!

I was going to watch the Televisa finale again and let you all know what else was cut out, but I can't. I just can't. It's too awful to rewatch.

This was a total piece of cr*p! Novela, your recap was so much better than anything we had to witness tonight, thank you for your wonderful recap. Dear sweet baby Jesus this was awful, just awful, I think we should all ban together and sue Televisa for emotional distress!

I'm not watching a Mejia again. He is the only producer who can turn spun gold, a great cast of actors, into vomit. Ana Brenda, Sergio Sendel and Ivan Sanchez and Mar Contreras deserved better.

I'm back to watching old Mexican tns or Colombian/Venezuelan ones online.

Hey everyone! I really didn't comment for LI much but since it was the finale I have some things to say. First, thanks NovelaMaven for the recap!

I saw some of the spoilers back when it aired in Mexico and I was flabbergasted then and I was flabbergasted again last night. I think this finale was worse than QTPD's finale. As noted, I hated the weird transitions between scenes. Like couldn't they have shown Veronica, Martin, and Virginia getting out of the water then getting up to waterfalls edge? And why did some characters just disappear? What happened to Claudia, Pierre, Nicholas, and the people from the bar?

The thing I hated the most was how Emi and NanciYaga died. Why did Virginia want to kill Emiliano? I was surprised how it seemed as though Manuel did mean something to Virginia. She was obviously shocked when she found him dead.

The funniest part to me was Virginia's death. As she was falling she obviously realized that her dear mommy didn't go down with her which probably prompted the "No!!!!!" on the way down. Veronica acted like a true daughter to Salma. And I wanted Jorge and Lucia to end up together!

Well I guess we can now look forward to tonight's premiere of Pasion Y Poder. I still maintain that over the past year La Malquerida has been my favorite telenovela followed by YNCELH (so far).

I so much agreed with what was about if Jeromino was the best criminal lawyer. I was thinking why didn't Martin ask for him during his trial.

I have watched a lot of the episodes several time but this finale I have only watched it once. It was so bad for me to watch again. Are the producers for real?

So nobody found the picture of Demetrio and Virginia? What about the fire that Manuel started at the San Telmos.

Virginia always wanted to kill Emiliano; that was her plan all along: marry Emiliano and then get rid of him and Jorge so she could have it all.

I think Virginia wanted to kill Emi last night out of a sense of "if I can't have it, neither will you."

The wheels to get rid of Emi for good started turning when she read Jorge's latest will and discovered he was leaving Prado Castelo to Emi and Veronica. Zero for her.

Hi everyone. I’m sorry I haven’t been around to share all the comments and amusement recently. I fell horribly behind and despite a really big effort this weekend to catch up, i’ve only made it to Episode 115. I hate jumping ahead so i’m trying not to read today’s comments until after I see the finale —though I couldn’t miss today’s title —doesn’t sound good ! :(((

However, I didn’t want to let the last recap pass by without giving our wonderful, wonderful recappers a big thank you.

Mauricio and Novela Maven, thanks so much for all the work and effort since the very beginning and for also frequently stepping in and doing extra recaps as well. Your generosity of time has not gone unnoticed. AuntyAnn, thanks for joining the team and doing a bang-up job.

Adriana, Eli and Latina(no longer)InMd thank you as well for all your expert, marvelous recaps. And Carlos, yours was a treat!

Hope to catch up with y’all later. I had a lot of fun and despite any deficiencies I may be about to watch soon, I’m so glad I’ve shared this telenovela with all the recappers and other fellow commentators.

Barbara

A BIG--BIG thank you NovelaMaven and to all of the "A" team recappers. It's been a blast of a ride.

NM as always, you ride the crest of the wave. LOL at your self improvement tip #74

I did also like our Warrior Goddess and Crazy Saint Marty.

Great rewards also---The award for the most incompetent criminal and the award for the worst legal system.

Novela---I did like your shut up Rebecca. It brought up memories of shut up Doris from another novela and LOL there should be a shut up Mariana from AMQL.

Whack! A home run for Magdalena and the Warrior Goddess rescues her consort. What a woman. Yes I agree. I don't know where the horse came from so fast but I was cheering when our Warrior Goddess sprang into action.

WOW!!! 100% negative on the ending today---even with all of the chips and dips. margaritas and gin and tonics out on the patio, which should have been enough to keep everyone happy, after reading the comments this morning, I got the feeling that the patio peeps were near an uprising against Univision.

My take, which isn't nearly as negative as some of the comments that I have read this morning. While I have to admit that I too had a few WTF moments, I decided to go with the flow and enjoy as much as possible.

At times I was wondering how the crew/team got from one city to the next so fast. I mean, it seemed like they could go from the DF to Mina Escondido faster than I can get to the local mall. Oh well I know that Univision did a lot of dicing and splicing. I also wondered how everyone seemed to know right where to go at just the right time? Even Botel in his wheelchair must have been breaking the speed limit.

Ana Perla stayed true to her character caring for her soul lost brother holding out hope for him till the very end. Carvivlie---Yes of course AP had to cry some more. I thought that her crying was finally over but our young small town girl just couldn't believe that her own brother couldn't make a turn for the good. She grew up with him, he was family. Manuel hurt her deeply.

Nanciyaga and Emi both died but Nanci's words ---The sun and the moon will love each other among the waters. Every sunset and every sunrise, they will meet again couldn't have been any better. For me, it was sad that Emi and Nanci died but I believe that death in Nanciyaga's arms was better than a marriage to Claw-dia would have been. I don't know, I just didn't like them as a couple.

I will stop for now to read a few more comments and then come back with a few more thoughts.

the gringo

NovelaMaven- Your recap of this finale, as well as your recaps every week, were a can't miss for me. Your effortless humor and wit, your mastery of the Spanish language, and your ability to pick out just the right right words or phrases to use as teaching moments, is extraordinary. You, Mauricio, AuntyAnn, Adriana (who is enjoying motherhood), Eli/Juju, and Latina(x)InMD are all such wonderfully gifted recappers. Carlos- Loved seeing you pinch hit a few times too. Thank you all!

Since there is no need to add to the chorus of those are panning this finale, I will say what I liked about it...

- It made me laugh some good hearty chuckles. Laughter is good for the soul.
- I thought Blanca looked beautiful on her wedding day and Vero looked lovely at her vow renewal.
- Nancy also looked fabulous when she died.
- Uhmm...that's it.

I'm surprised no one made any OJ Simpson jokes when the decision about the murder case hinged on THE GLOVES. I was fully expecting them to make Virginia try them on. :)

NovelaMaven - I haven't been around for a while (mostly b/c my life has been a "bad telenovela" rollercoaster ride like you wouldn't believe since I moved back to the West Coast about three months ago). Anyway, thanks for one final riproaring recap that was WAY more entertaining than the actual finale. Thanks again to you and the rest of the LI recap team for enduring until the bitter end.

I watched the 2-hour Televisa finale 4 weeks ago and didn't plan to watch again, but I just happened to catch Uni's condensed version last night because I visited my mother and she wanted to see it. Both versions were atrocious!!! After Ximena Suarez jumped ship as head writer, I fully expected the quality of the writing to sink, but not to such depths. I definitely don't plan to watch anymore novelas produced by either Mejia or his wife.

J,

"I was going to watch the Televisa finale again and let you all know what else was cut out, but I can't. I just can't."

It's okay. We understand. :-)

Eli, It's such a pleasure to see you around here, even if it's just to bear witness to the awfulness of what we saw. Hey, if you file a class action suit, I'm in. [snort]

J desde NYC
I love Colombian novelas too, but if you're looking for new novelas of quality, check out Telemundo these days. Bajo el mismo cielo and Celia are both remarkable, each in its own way (digo yo).

TF, you're very welcome!

"Like couldn't they have shown Veronica, Martin, and Virginia getting out of the water then getting up to waterfalls edge?"
Besides the weird jagged cuts, I'm kind of guessing they were filming on the cheap and weren't actually anywhere near the location. It was easy to show the three kind of flailing around in the water, but not so easy to fake getting in and out.

I actually started out watching La Malquerida and then got discouraged by the weird editing. In retrospect, of course, that looks like high art to me.

Barbara, what a lovely, gracious comment. It has been our pleasure! As AuntyAnn likes to say, hasta pronto!

So we got to see Grandpa Goat one last time. I thought that he would be coming back for Dia De Las Muertos but he came back to try to talk some sense into Manuel but Manuel had been a lost cause for a long, long time. There was no saving him.

I didn't realize that Virginia actually had feelings for him. My thought was that she was just using him to further her means.

Blanquita looked so pretty at her wedding, that was a nice scene.

We lost Medel after the fire. I don't think that we ever saw him again after that.
Ireri y Uspin?

The baddies---Manuel couldn't live with his evil anymore and after Grandpa Goat gave him a good talking to, Manuel took to the rope. No one except sweet Ana Perla.

Aaron ended up not only with a bad leg but with a bad arm as well. The burnt arm was just a trial run for him on his way to hell.

V-snake every ones favorite little viper turned into a Water Moccasin albeit a dead one.

I'm glad that Salma was saved. I think that she saw the light towards Virginia at the end.

I'm also that Ana Perla and Pablo's baby wasn't lost.

The novelas mystery question---When will that hidden picture be found?

I never was able to figure out why there were two little towns and how close together they were to each other. However, I will miss them as well as the beautiful scenery. I will be watching Pasion and Poder but for me the big city is no match for the beautiful rural settings. Mina Escondita will be missed.

No, I WILL NOT get in the worst ending ever line. It could have been better if it wasn't cut up so much by Univision but I still enjoyed it. The last scene of Goddess
Veronica and Martin in a beautiful love embrace by the waterfall made it all worthwhile for me.

the gringo

NovelaMaven, thanks for the recommendations. I saw the beginning of Bajo and it is a great novela. I haven't yet watched Celia, though it looks good as well. I guess it's time for me to download the Telemundo App and binge watch.

Televisa has just gone down the drain it seems. I cannot believe the station that gave us Corazon Salvaje, Cuna de Lobos and Cadenas de Amargura has sank this low. Yo No Creo En Los Hombres is the best they have going for them now.

Gringo,

Thanks so much! It HAS been a blast because of the give and take in this space. I've enjoyed your comments very much.

"While I have to admit that I too had a few WTF moments, I decided to go with the flow and enjoy as much as possible."

You're a wise man, gringo! That's the only way to take this stuff. Maybe I was just jealous of Mauricio because he got to cover the Marty/Padre Juan miracle. I probably wouldn't have been nearly as grumpy about the Nanciyaga/Emiliano story if it hadn't been surrounded by some dubious slash and burn scenes. I think you're right – it needs to be taken on its own terms.

Vivi, I'm honored that you've been reading my recaps. You are so gifted at this yourself that your praise is especially sweet.

I was very tempted to go with an OJ Simpson joke myself, but decided to hold back. :-)

LatinaInMd, It's a pleasure – and a relief – to hear from you! Thank you so much for your kind words. And thanks for the wonderful recaps you wrote here. And yes, our little novela did take a strange and unexpected path after Ximena Suarez left and the monkeys moved in, bananas and all. Sorry you had to see the final episode twice. (Yikes – just typing that gives me a little chill.)

I hope the roller coaster is slowing down and evening out a bit for you. Take care!

I thought all of the actors were good & worked with what they are given. I don't have any complaints with any of the actors.

The only character I detested was the Ana Perla character.

I didn't have the hate for Rebeca that many viewers did. I wish she and Jeronimo had been introduced earlier in the story, so that a focus on their engagement at the end made sense. Jeronimo could've come in as Marty's defense lawyer. They really could've replaced Claudia with Rebeca b/c there was no need for Claudia to stick around after the truth was out & Veronica decided to stay with Marty.

I probably would watch a novela with these actors again.

NovelaMaven,
First and foremost thank you for the recap. It was waaayyy better that the thing we saw last night. I can't even call it a final because it doesn't even deserve that. I have been watching novelas for more than 20 years and I can not remember watching a worst ending. Thank goodness my husband was not watching this novella or he would have either:
a) Stopped watching and call it a bunch of B.S.
b) Fallen asleep (which would have been a better use of the time)
c) Thrown a shoe at the TV (a possible expensive repair).

Anyway, ITA with everyone's comments today. I have all the questions in my head too and one more complaint to add. Where was Polo? I missed him and Onix. Well, to me the ending needed to be better. I have never thought this before, but I will think twice before watching a Mejia production again. I have always based my viewing on the cast, but if Mejia is producing I will have to think twice. And speaking of cast, I feel really bad for them. I really enjoyed all the acting, but the monkey writers just s**cked at times. I definitely liked Ivan and AnaBrenda together, so I will be on the lookout for them. Thank goodness I have the patio to share my thoughts and rant as much as I want. I would be going crazy right now If I didn't have this blog. After last night's B.S. I seriously thought about not watching novelas again. I was just so disappointed and pissed off. I kind of felt like I had been wasting my time. But then I thought about all the great times I have had on the patio and decided to give novelas another chance. I will have to be very picky about the stories I choose to watch.

Anon207, I like your finale. I think I will try to remember your version instead of what we got. Thanks!

Gracias NovelaMaven,
Hasta Pronto!

p.s.
Gringo, glad you enjoyed it.

Thank you NovelaMaven for your humorous take on this horrendous finale!

Honestly, QTH? Others have warned repeatedly that the Mejia novelas are the worst and yet, I STILL watched this one. I'm stubborn that way. Good actors with a bad script and just plain old bad everything. Don't understand how I managed to stick it out to the end (even through MLB Post Season!) I have to say I actually laughed out loud during last night's viewing.

- Maggie getting loose while Aaron has his back turned, busy tying up Vero. I thought this was hilarious! Bugs Bunny moment.

- Nanciyaga -- first they hijack her theme song and then they kill her off! Really? Did she and Emiliano have to die?

- I won't even discuss bringing in a new character complete with I-got-shot-and-ended-up-in-a-coma back story

- Last but not least, Virginia's dying words, "Ay, noooooooooooo!" priceless

This novela was truly Imperdonable. I agree with many who have said the finale is much worse than QTPD! I hereby vow to never, ever, ever watch another Mejia Novela ever again! Caray!

Really looking forward to P&P.

Paquita

Wow NovelaMaven. Thank you so much for another stellar recap that was so much better than the final episode was. Your recaps have always been a joy to read and have I loved each and every one.

I have no idea what I have just watched. I can't believe that this was the finale that the writers gave us for our little novela. What a disappointment. Onix could have written a more coherent finale then those monkey writers.

I actually watched the Mexican two hour finale and it was just as disjointed with transitions that made no sense at all.

Definitely could have done without Magdalena being falsely accused with Daniel's murder. I wanted to scream when she touched the murder weapon.

Oh Mariana. You should have just gone on a shopping spree. Now you'll be locked up for who knows how long. And Chelas', his fate was so disappointing. Why were the cops even looking for him? That made no sense.

Manny's hanging would have been better if the lynch mob had been behind it. I hate it when the baddies commit suicide. I see it as terrible writing and it's such an unsatisfying way for a character to get their anvil. Especially if the character was terrible throughout and caused so much harm.

Aaron should have burned to death. Why was he still alive? Although it was funny seeing him being taken on the "parade".

Hated that Nanci and Emi had to die. I couldn't believe it. Also, hated how there was no mourning for him. It was as if they didn't care that he had died.

Jorge had the right words when talking about Emi's death, but the tears weren't there. What the...

Didn't care at all for Rebeca and Jeronimo. Why was so much time wasted on them? One scene with them was enough.

Here's what was missing (from what I can recall):

- Gaby and the kids have a fair. Ramon is there with his girlfriend. Polo and Dorita get married at one of those marriage booths. (Yes, they actually included the fair in the final episode, as if there was time for this)

- Blanquita and Arturo tell Ana Perla and Pablo that they're getting married. (This happened right before we see them out on the street when Ana Perla crosses the street and gets run over by Mariana).

- Blanquita calls Raymunda and Joaquin and tells them about Ana Perla.

- Raymunda and Joaquin pray for Ana Perla.

- The doctor tells Pablo that Ana Perla needs a blood transfusion. As luck would have it, Pablo has the same blood and offers it all to save Ana Perla and his child.

- At the trial, they project the video from the USB, where we see Daniel and Virginia in bed, and Virginia talks bad about everyone in the family, and she also admits to having sent Demetrio to Mina Escondida.

- There was one final scene with Pierre and Romeo. Romeo tells Pierre that he has found his "Romea". Pierre thinks that he means that he found his "Juliet" but Romeo says no that he found his "Romea" because that's her name. Pierre wonders when he'll find love.

I think that was it.

Mauricio,
Ditto to your whole comment.

There was NO NEED for the Rebeca character. Can someone honestly give me a legitimate reason for her existence? I counted last night and they wasted 5-6 precious minutes on her and Jeronimo. Thanks monkey writers.

I liked your finale as well, Anon207.

The writers behind this finale need to rethink their choice of career. What were they thinking? I feel so bad for the whole cast for having to be a part of this finale. The novela itself was very enjoyable despite all the silliness but this ending was just terrible. I wonder what the cast thought when they received the script. They must have all be flabbergasted.

I'm not done reading the whole recap yet but I just want to say THANK YOU!!! Thank you NovelaMaven for expressing exactly what I was feeling and thinking last night: worst gran final ever!!!

If Rebeca were introduced earlier in the story, her backstory could've been her family was friends was friends with the Prado Castelos and had grown up knowing Emiliano, Virginia & Veronica and Martin was an old classmate from college.

Jeronimo should've been brought in as Marty's lawyer.

Their discussions about comas & broken engagements couldve replaced the Ramon scenes & the Pierre scenes post Claudia breakup.

They actually could've kept Emiliano alive by having him run the mine Jorge bought. That way he could've stayed with Nanciyaga.

Since Emiliano and Virginia are dead, Veronica will end up inheriting that good mine as well. Lol

Anon207,
Can you please go turn in your resume to Televisa. IMO you would be an excellent telenovela writer. Just take some bananas with you to lure away those current writers.

-Thanks!

Anon207- I forgot to tell you that I enjoyed your ending much better.

It almost seems like an embarrassment of riches that Vero and Marty's kids will inherit. Two gold mines, a huge estate outside DF, a spacious country house in Mina Escondida, a construction company, and a huge international jewelry company. I can just see their kids lording all of that over the "poor" Goat Family descendents, who will have to fight it out over one failing gold mine, a middling house in Pueblo Verde, a shack in Mina Escondida, and some second rate paintings by Papa/Tio Pablo.

Hi AuntyAnn,
Thanks for the nice words. I rather enjoyed your ladylike rant. I agree that Polo and Onix should have been front and center at the end since they were such emotional touchstones throughout the whole novela.

Paquitadelbarrio, you are so welcome!
I wonder how much control Mejía actually had over the finished product at the end? Perhaps not as much as we think...

Mauricio, you are very kind. Thanks so much. I agree with your critique, especially this point:

"Jorge had the right words when talking about Emi's death, but the tears weren't there. What the..."
In fact, I found the character so flat and affectless that for a time I wondered if the actor might have had a stroke. There was almost always a disconnect between what his word said and what his face expressed.

Thanks for filling in some of what was cut last night. The one thing I would have liked seeing was the projection of the contents of the USB drive. I kept wondering what happened to the thing after the ground had been so carefully laid for its revelation.

Lily, you're welcome! (Is it wrong of me to take a certain satisfaction in the MAGNITUDE of the awfulness of this 'gran final'? I feel we could sell t-shirts or something: I watched LI #120!)

Vivi,

"I can just see their kids lording all of that over the "poor" Goat Family descendents, who will have to fight it out over one failing gold mine, a middling house in Pueblo Verde, a shack in Mina Escondida, and some second rate paintings by Papa/Tio Pablo."

hahahahahaha! So funny!

Where was the Mejia miracle that made Botel get up and walk again? If Padre Juan had one then Botel should have had one as well.

Where was Claudia? She was missing. I feel like Alica Machado got the short end of the stick. Her character kept on diminishing until she was no longer important and hardly showed up.

NovelaMaven, in the scene they only showed the last bit of the video, then the attorney defending Virginia objected that it had nothing to do with the case, so the judge didn't take it into account.

Vivi and NovelaMaven, I almost made an OJ Simpson joke in one of my recaps back when Marty was on trial for the fraud, but decided no to.

AuntyAnn, the finale made me want to hurl my iPad from the top of the staircase, but I also controlled myself thinking about the cost of repair. :)

They sure missed an opportunity to have Mariana, Virginia, and Magdalena sharing a same jail cell. Now that would have been fun.

"AuntyAnn, the finale made me want to hurl my iPad from the top of the staircase, but I also controlled myself thinking about the cost of repair. :)"

Mauricio and AuntyAnn, it was for that very reason that some of us developed the NERFAZO a few years back (it might have been during El Talismán). The nerfazo is a soft foam object that has been "weaponized" into something suitable for hurling at the flatscreen without inflicting damages. There are many varieties of nerfazos: tomatazos, mangazos (fruits work well here), but we are free to create -azos that you won't find in the dictionary. For example, a lingotazo would have come in handy here. :)

Honestly Claudia wasn't needed after she told Veronica that Marty only married her for revenge, Marty didn't want her, Alfredo died, Pierre dumped her , the bar burned down and she wasn't friends with Virginia anymore so there was no point for her to stick around. She should've left with Ireri & Uspin & Medel.

Mauricio---Thanks for filling us in on what we had missed--what was left on the cutting room floor.

While I still REFUSE to join the rant chorus, I do agree that Pablo and Onix should have been brought in somewhere last night. Maybe when the town was having that celebration.

While I am close to a Susana Gonzalez fanatic I don't think that I will enjoy the new one nearly as much as this one with it's beautiful rural pueblo theme. I mean, big city rich guys struggling for power? I don't know but will see.

Vivi---I always love to read your comments and today is no different. Grandpa Goat was Mr. Big in town but his family will have but a pittance compared to Veronica and Marty. I didn't think of that but you are so right.

I am not completely down in the dumps over Emi's and Nanci's death, not after Nanci's parting words. Does anyone think that Emi was killed off so that Veronica would become sole surviving heir of the Prado Castelo Estate? For so long Veronica seemed to come out second best each and every time. Even after Jorge stood up for her she still seemed to loose, so was Veronica ending up as sole heir payback in some way for always receiving little love and coming up on the short end of the stick?

One final question---Was there three little mountain pueblos? Mina Escondida, Pueblo Nueva and Pueblo Verde?

the gringo

NovelaMaven,

I love the idea of using a NERFAZO. This finale sure needed one. :)

You're Welcome gringo.

Yes. There were three little mountain pueblos.

NovelaMaven,
Thanks for letting us know about the NERFAZO. I think I would have thrown a platanazo at the writers last night.

I was so pissed I stopped watching halfway through and started watching my recording of Gotham.

So okay! What is a NERFAZO? Jorge had Botox along with Salma! So the photo that Mati stuck behind the Virgin shrine was never found!!!! Why waste time on Blanquita and Arturo's wedding in the finale??? When more could have been envisioned in the quest for the bad guys.....eeeeeeeeeeeeK! Ditto their individual demise was less than fitting each and everyone. Should have been much more gruesome:)

Mauricio, thanks once more for your beyond the call of duty contributions and hope to see you during P y P. NovelaMaven, so glad you will be involved in the P y P recapping. I'm looking forward to that and very appreciative of you for doing it.

Gale

Thank you Gale. I will be there for Pasion y Poder. I'm glad you will be joining us.

Awwww Mauricio, that's wonderful!!

Gale

Oops---That should have been Polo, not Pablo and Onix.

Yes, it would have been nice if Aaron had gotten burned just a wee bit more. Well, at least he is back in jail where he belongs.

Good grief. So there were three little mountain pueblos. Don't know why they needed three but go with the flow gringo.

the gringo

Almost too late to comment, but can't resist. Wonderful coverage of chopped up hash, NovelaMaven! I agree this was NOT a satisfactory gran final.

Manny rarely listened to Grandpa Goat in life, not sure why he paid more attention in death. Rebecca and the lawyer?!? Why?? He's in a coma for 4 months and no one bothers to tell his fiancee? These characters had no business barging in at the last minute. A total waste of our time and precious resources needed for other finale action.

I was distressed that Joven Emi and Nanci joined up, only to be shot and killed. The union of the sun and moon in the water was a nice touch. I would have liked to see them hovering over the watery mist at the vow renewal.

This could have been more than the sum of its parts. Instead, a heap of bits and pieces, washed away in streams of tears.

NovellaMaven, this was funnily good. It was
Like watchin comic relief. All of that runnin to
This place and that place. I have never seen
Such a chopped up episode. Wow!! That guy
That did this show should start a script on
Rebeca and jeronimo, theirs would make a good Tn. I usually don't notice all the bad choppiness of a Show, but this one they went to town with Choppin this up.
"Emiliano can't understand why they have to do all of this". Well he has to be be purified again cuz he was with Claudia.
And where did all the time go? Well, I enjoyed
Watchin the anvil shower. Everybody that had it comin got it.
Mariana in her silliness, manny finally wigged Out, aaron in a partial ball of fire, dr.Feel good didn't feel so good when he left.
Virginia landed on the rocks like a rock. I just
Didn't like this ending. It wasn't as good as it could have been. Another tn bits the dust.

Imagine me clapping for you NovelaMaven because you did an amazing job with this horrible excuse for a gran final! Seriously, it's like you read my mind! Starting with the scenes in Daniel's lair with the sirens heard and Veronica telling Daniel the police were coming for him, "And still no police", "the police must be waiting for Uspin's river taxi..." Those scenes were completely ridiculous and insulting to our intelligence but you made them fun.

Only good thing about this final was that it was so bad it made me laugh. It was like a comedy skit when character after character showed up at Daniel's!

And Vivi in DC I was thinking the writers were going to throw in an homage to the OJ trial and Virginia was going to try on the gloves! I was laughing at the CSI scene and trial.

NovelaMaven, your headings were priceless! My favorite: "Self improvement tip #74 - Don't be impatient when you have to wait - use the time to read"

As for the anvils, I set my expectations low since the writing for this TN has been terrible. I was satisfied with Manny's anvil. I don't like when villains commit suicide, it's the easy way out but he did seem pretty tortured by seeing his dead grandfather and victim and I did see him squirm a little as he hung from the rafters. I also laughed when Virginia found him, that was very fitting as well, about the only thing the writers got right. Aaron should have burned to death, we didn't get to see him go to jail for good this time, fail. And I laughed as Virginia fell onto the rocks but would have preferred for her to suffer life in jail with Demetrio's and Manny's ghosts haunting her.

That's my rant. Thank goodness for this blog otherwise I'd go crazy Marty. Thank you again NovelaMaven and all the talented recappers and commenters, it's been fun!

Sorry for the late comments about the Gran Final. I was totally blown away by the poor screen writing. It was if the writers decided to finish it all and didn't care about character development.

If Televisa decided to introduce a sequel to this, would they call it "Double Lo Imperdonable? Or course in the sequel, Virginia would have somehow survived her fall off the cliff, since I don't remember seeing her body at the end of this episode.

Hi Gale! Thanks! I look forward to seeing you on P&P too. In answer to your question...

What's a nerfazo?

A nerfazo™ is a made-up word consisting of two parts, Nerf™ + -azo.

Nerf™ is the soft, light foam-rubber stuff used to make kids' toys – bats and balls, say – that can be thrown around without doing damage to people or objects.

The word ending -azo is sometimes used in Spanish to mean "a blow given with ___."

A few examples:

botella (bottle) + -azo –> botellazo (a blow given with a bottle)
Le dieron un botallazo. They hit him with a bottle.
codo (elbow) + -azo –> codazo (a blow given with the elbow)
Me dio un codazo en las costillas.
She elbowed me in the ribs.
sartén (frying pan) + -azo –> sartenazo (a blow given with a frying pan)
La mujer le dio un sartenazo a su marido. (The woman hit her husband with a frying pan.)
tomate + -azo –> tomatazo (a blow given with a tomato)
Mejía recibió una lluvia de tomatazos. (Mejía was pelted with tomatoes.)

Note:
1) -azo can have other meanings.
2) In the real world, you can't just use it willy-nilly. There are only certain words like this in the dictionary.

So back to NERFAZO™

Using the idea of nerf™ plus -azo, we created the NERFAZO™, an imaginary object to throw at the television when our telenovelas drive us nuts.

Then we imagined different varieties of nerfazos, each suitable for the theme of a show. The imaginary -azo words aren't necessarily in the dictionary, or if they are, their meaning may be different. For example, I thought that I was making up the word LINGOTAZO (a blow given with a (gold) ingot) from lingote (ingot) + -azo. It turns out that 'lingotazo' already exists and means a swig or shot (of a drink).

Anyhow, you can order imaginary nerfazos from our imaginary warehouse in the variety of your choice (mangazo, limonazo, tomatazo, just to mention a few) and use them when you need to vent.

Gringo,

To add to Mauricio's answer about the three little pueblos –

At the beginning of the show, you could only travel from one to the other by river. The Goat house was in Pueblo Nuevo (and so was Pierre's hotel) but the school, the church, the cantina as well as Joaquín's house were in Mina Escondida. When Ana Perla missed the last river taxi of the day, for example, she had to spend the night with her cousins in Mina Escondida.

The third little town, Pueblo Verde, was less important: it must have been a little bigger than the other two because the police station and the post office were there. It's also where Virginia and Aarón went shopping for guns at the very end.

When the monkey writers put in roads everywhere, the distance became unimportant and the distinction seemed an unnecessary and confusing complication.

La Paloma,

Thanks! I really enjoyed your comment!

"This could have been more than the sum of its parts. Instead, a heap of bits and pieces, washed away in streams of tears."
Beautifully put. Sigh.

And yes, "He's in a coma for 4 months and no one bothers to tell his fiancee?" Chalk it up to the growing list of absurdities.

I love this idea:
"I would have liked to see them [Joven Emi and Nanciyaga] hovering over the watery mist at the vow renewal."
I mean, come on – if you're going to go there, go there, for Pete's sake!

Nina, thanks! Yes, I enjoyed the "anvil shower" when it finally arrived. If you watch the Rebeca and Jerónimo novela, you'll have to tell me about it. Me, I think I'll give it a pass. :-)

Awww, Lily, thanks a bunch!

"Only good thing about this final was that it was so bad it made me laugh."
LOL. So true.

"...when Virginia found him, that was very fitting as well, about the only thing the writers got right."

Interesting. Other people have said that too, and in retrospect, I think you guys are right. That was a good, sharp scene (one of the few).

Just keep hanging out with us – when the novela gets too nutty, we can always work on our Spanish.

Gobluefan, Thanks for your comment. This downward trajectory of this one was hard to fathom. Oh well. We manage to have fun anyway, no?

"Mejía recibió una lluvia de tomatazos. (Mejía was pelted with tomatoes.)"

Hahahaha! I love this, NovelaMaven. Thanks for the explanation of nerfazo.

If anyone is interested, here's a behind the scenes of the the filming of the final scenes. They did travel to film on location and there was a lot of work put into the filming. Too bad it wasn't also put into the actual writing of the finale.

Mauricio, thanks so much for that link. It is heartbreaking to see the effort and talent that were wasted. What on earth must have happened in the editing process? Maybe it's the Televisa editors who deserve tomatazos.

It was fun to hear Iván Sánchez speaking without a Mexican accent. It makes you realize just how good he was at setting aside his natural dialect for this novela.

The gringo's back. Why you ask? Well as I tried to explain earlier, I actually liked this novela. The ending wasn't what it should have been but as I said, I go with the flow. Anyway I was anxious to read any late comments and yes, there were a few.

La Paloma---The union of the sun and moon in the water was a nice touch. I would have liked to see them hovering over the watery mist at the vow renewal. Yes La Paloma, that would have been nice. Too bad the writers didn't think of that.

Lily said---The police must be waiting for Uspin's river taxi. Funny but probably true. --- Virginia in jail with Demetrio's and Manny's ghosts haunting her would have been a great ending for the viper.

Nina---Dr. Feelgood didn't feel so good when he left. --- Yes, that's for sure.

NovelaMaven---Thanks for the nerfazo information. I learned something.

NovelaMaven again---Thanks again for the explanation of the three little towns. I don't know why they needed three, it was a little confusing.

Everyone is so angry except me. Me---I'm just a little disappointed in that the ending could have been better but as I said, I just go with the flow. I refuse to let a somewhat disappointing ending ruin a novela that I liked from the beginning.
I will add that several of you guys had some great ideas that if implemented would have made some great improvements to what we were given.

the gringo

You're Welcome NovelaMaven. I'm glad you enjoyed the behind the scenes. I always love watching those. There are also videos with the whole cast on Hoy. Let me find the links and I'll post them for anyone who is interested.

"It makes you realize just how good he was at setting aside his natural dialect for this novela."

Yes, I agree. It must not have easy to do.

Hi gringo. I'm glad you're still here. You know, a day after the finale aired, I'm feeling better about it. I still think it was a poor finale, but I also don't want to let it ruin how much I enjoyed watching this one.

Here are the links to the cast on Hoy,

Part 1

Part 2

Then there is this one

Thanks Mauricio for posting the links. That's what I meant when I said there was so much hype about the finale. I was so much looking forward to it but in a whole I enjoyed the novela becos of Ivan and Ana. I am so glad Ivan was chosen cos I don't think anyone would have done a better job!

There is also a periscope from Ana when Martin found out she was alive. They were rehearsing

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GasM3WHoCt4

Also rehearsal at the market

Many actors at Televisa are from other countries and have to mask their very pronounced native accents to have a neutral Mexican accent. Just in this tn alone (by character name):

Martin- Spain
Claudia- Venezuela
Rebecca- Colombia
Jeronimo- Argentina
Botel- Uruguay

Thank you Duchess. I loved watching those. It's so nice watching them all getting along and having a good time while reharsing.

Thanks Vivi. I didn't know that Marcelo Buquet (Botel) was from Uruguay. The actor who played Pierre (Gonzalo Vivanco) is from Chile. With him he had to talk in a French accent.

Mauricio, Thanks for the video links to Hoy. I really enjoyed them – they remind me of the old Cristina show (which I still kind of miss).

Vivi, that's true. It's interesting that 'Claudia' didn't sound any different on Hoy than she did in the novela. I've seen the Botel actor in Colombian novelas and it seems to me, he used the same 'neutral' Spanish, but I could be remembering it wrong. Telemundo, of course, almost always has a pan-hispanic cast speaking 'neutral' Spanish.

Mauricio, I think 'Pierre' needs to polish his French accent a little. :-)

Duchess, thanks for the links. I'll to check them out.

Mauricio & Duchess,
Thanks for the links. I have something to look forward to when I go home.

I am also feeling a little better today about the final we got for our novella. But I just realized that I missed watching Ivan and AnaBrenda last night. I am having withdrawals. I need my fix of Marty and Vero. Sorry, rant over.

Hasta Pronto!
p.s. See you guys tonight on PYP. I will be recapping. Wish me luck.

NovelaMaven- I think the actors who continue to use neutral accents while speaking to Mexican press are like the Australian acrtors who use American accents when speaking to the American press.

You're Welcome NovelaMaven. I also miss the Cristina show. It was always a nice treat once a novela ended to watch the whole cast on the show. They usually have the cast of a novela on Hoy (in Mexico) when a novela ends.

Yes, Pierre does need to work on it. Funny, they can hide the accents, but they can never get another accent right. :)

You're Welcome AuntyAnn.

I missed them too. It will take me a while to get used to the new characters on PyP.

I know you will do a wonderful job, AuntyAnn. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks Mauricio!

AuntyAnn, I'm looking forward to your recap too. I have no doubt it will be terrific.

Vivi,
It's interesting. It depends on whether you want to blend in or stand out. British actors don't mind standing out (think of Hugh Laurie (House) or Homeland's Damian Lewis) and I suspect the same is true of Spanish actors.

Thank you Mauricio, you're a Gem. I hope I Read you in in pasion & power. ★☆★♡♥♡

You're Welcome Nina. I'll be there. I'm looking forward to your comments on PyP.

Well, verrrry late to the party, but want to thank NovelaMaven for another wonderful recap of a frankly unworthy finale. Man, I've seen some sophomoric episodes in telenovelas, but this took the cake. Still, Gringo's advice to go with the flow is always good. Saves wear and tear on the nervous system.

Just got back late Sunday night from a week in actual Mexico (where the heat is indeed intense and stultifying). Was at a luxurious resort for the destination wedding of our youngest, and was determined to speak Spanish even though the personnel there all speak excellent English (all the guests seemed to be either American or Canadian). Anyway, they all thought it was hilarious that I'd learned my Spanish from telenovelas. Best moment was using a line from Juan Querendon when of them remarked with surprise "Ah, Usted habla español!" and I remarked casually "Me defiendo." Cracked the guy up and he said, "Yeah, that's what I say when the girls ask me if I can dance. Me defiendo!" My brother, who doesn't speak Spanish, loved the whole exchange.

NovelaMaven, you never disappoint. Your humor and your grasp of the language is extraordinary and you do so much with so little. This gran finale was just a hot mess, but your little comments made the whole recap a treat. For some reason I especially treasured your "soggy prayer" and "Goat Ghost" as well as the very restrained [it's about time] concerning Manuel's suicide.

All the recappers have been splendid and I'm glad so many of you are continuing on Pasion y Poder. Not sure if I will be watching but I'm sure your fine writing will eventually draw me back in.

My dear JudyB,
I'm so excited to see you back here. I wish your daughter and her new husband great happiness. I admit to having had my doubts about the destination wedding thing, but in retrospect a bit of Mexican sunshine to punctuate the long gray season seems a brilliant idea. (Well, except for the part about intense, stultifying heat). Your language story is wonderful. (And I can relate – I made a friend for life when I told one of my new in-laws that I was enjoying California "un chorro.")

"Man, I've seen some sophomoric episodes in telenovelas, but this took the cake."

hee hee. And the cookies and the pies and the nut breads...

Thank you, my friend. I hope we do see you in the thus far satisfyingly ridiculous and overblown Pasión y poder. Fun WILL be poked, I can promise you.

Thank you for the wonderful recaps!
And I thought la gata was bad.. Now I know better.

M

Hey! I'm a few months late sorry.. Lol but they couldda gone straight to the point and let OG Manuel and Virginia die 119 episodes earlier! .. Wait.. That would be episode 1 meaning no TN.. Oh well!
I loved all your wonderful recaps :-)
