Pasión y Poder #12, Wednesday, 11-18-2015
Hey folks! Bad news. I did not get the very beginning of the episode. My DVR was set to start 1 minute early, but I guess Uni started the capitulo earlier than that. I will start the recap where my recording started.
Arturo and Augustin are talking at the office about Julia and her marriage. They are under the impression that it is a good marriage. Little do they know all that Julia has suffered.
Clarita is talking with Francisco at their place of work. Through tears she tells him about her friend Maribel who is sick and that she has no cure. He offers his help and gives her a hug. Franco sees this public show of affection and tells them to get back to work. Clarita goes back to work. Franco tells Francisco that even though he is David's friend, his Godfather can still fire him. Francisco tells him yes, like you said only Mr. Gomez Luna can fire me. He gives Franco a stare down that proves he is not afraid of him.
In Queretaro Regina and David are looking through some books in her hotel room. It starts getting a little warm in the room as they start a make out session on the edge of her bed.
Julia has a talk with Gaby and tells her not to mention the altercation she had with Nina to Eladio. It's best that the rivalry between Art and Eladio not escalate any further. Just then Eladio walks in. Julia announces that they are going to celebrate because there is so much happiness in their home. Eladio tells Julia that they will go to Queretaro tomorrow to visit with David. She is thrilled. After Queretaro he offers to take her to China or India. Wherever she wants to go. He prefers to go somewhere they have never been. Julia is delighted. Eladio asks Gaby to take care of her grandfather during their trip. She agrees. (I guess Gaby's not invited) Julia thanks Eladio with some kisses.
Meanwhile, Miguel and Connie are talking. They share a sandwich and talk about Connie getting her test results from the doctor the next day. He offers to accompnay her, but she declines so she won't have problems with Erick. Arturo comes in and Miguel tells him that he knows his father wants him to eat in the dining room with the family, but he'd rather eat in the library. Art asks Connie how she is doing. Art thinks Connie should be eating with her husband. She tells him they had an argument. He tells her it will get worse if she hides in the library.
Julia asks Franco if he talked to Eladio about his relationship with Gaby. He says no because his Godfather warned him to stay away from her. Julia thinks that he doesn't care enough for Gaby. He says it's because he doesn't want to cause any problems, but agrees to talk to his Godfather the next day. Julia offers to talk to Eladio before Franco to try and soften the blow.
Connie and Erick talk in their bedroom. He apologizes for the way he has been acting. She tells him that she felt he was using her the last time they had sex. (He did) He vows to work on their marriage. (He won't) She asks him to accompany her to the doctor. He relunctantly agrees.
In Queretaro, David and Regina wake up in bed together, but don't get the wrong idea because they are both fully clothed. He tells her how much she makes him feel. They need to hurry so they are not late to their project presentation.
Eladio talks with some dude in his office about his hotels and social media. The new secretary comes in with coffee and thanks Eladio for the job. He tells her she needs to thank Franco because he insisted that she get hired.
In Queretaro, the project presentation is made and Regina and David are congratulated.
Back in the D.F. Gaby and Franco talk. He tells her that Julia is going to talk with Eladio about their relationship. Gaby tells him that her aunt and uncle went to visit David. Franco is not pleased.
Back at the ceremony David and Regina receive their awards. David first, then when Regina goes to get hers Joshua pops up out of nowhere to interrupt the ceremony. He acts like the total jerk that he is and gets down on one knee and asks Regina to marry him. He won't take no for an answer and grabs Regina by the arm. She is able to break free and go to the table to get her award and check. She apologizes for Joshua's unexpected appearance. When she goes back to sit down Joshua looks at the check she was given and can't believe how low the amount is. He grabs her arm and starts to drag her away. David tells him to leave and the two of them get into a fist fight. Joshua turns over a table and spills red wine on Regina's white dress which angers David even more. Finally two men come in to break up the fight and Joshua is taken away. David apologizes to everyone and hands his prize and check to Regina for safe keeping. He leaves. Regina also apologizes, but one of the judges angrily tells her not to worry because apparently the ceremony is over and everyone but Regina leaves. Die Joshua Die!
Outside of the ceremony David tells Joshua that he has no business being there. Joshua says it's between him and Regina. They start to shove each other again but those security dudes show up and break it up. Joshua leaves but first warns David that they're not done yet and he'll be back. Regina shows up and thanks David for defending her. He says that he does not like to fight, but he was not going to let Joshua manhandle her. She hands him his award and check. They walk inside and she totally blames herself for the whole thing. He tells her it's not her fault and kisses her. At that same time Julia and Eladio walk in. Eladio goes to the reception desk but Julia turns around and sees David and Regina kissing. Eladio turns and is about to see the love birds too, but Julia takes him by the arm and distracts him. They sit down and Julia thanks him for bringing her to see David. She has a hard time thinking that he is a fully grown man. She still sees him like her little boy. Eladio reminds her that David being independent only gives them more time to enjoy themselves and be together. He excuses himself. Julia gets up and looks at the love birds. Regina tells David that she needs to change out of her wine stained dress. She is still a little upset. He says he will meet up with her later. He gives her his check and she leaves for her room. When Julia sees that all is clear she tells Eladio that she sees David. She calls to him and a stunned David turns to see his parents. He greets them and tells them how surprised he is to see them. They invite him to eat. Eladio wants to talk to David in private. David tells them he needs to take care of something first. He won't be long.
At the doctors office Connie gets her results. The doctor tells her she is healthy and nothing stands in her way from getting pregnant. Erick takes this badly and wants to know if the doctor is insinuating that he is the one with the problem. The doctor says no he is not, but suggest that it wouldn't hurt if Erick were to take the proper tests to make sure. Erick KNOWS that he doesn't have a problem. The doctor then assumes that Erick has fathered children since he is so sure. Erick says no, but he's a healthy man and doesn't understand why his wife can't get pregnant. The doctor tells them that they may be stressing themselves out, but to keep trying. After the doctor leaves Erick tells Connie that they shouldn't pressure themselves to have a baby. They need to take their time, especially now that they are starting to work on their marriage. She tells him that she knows how important it is for him to give his father a grandchild. He says he knows he used to pressure her but that they shouldn't make it a priority and just let it happen when it happens.
Regina has changed and is freshning up when David knocks at her door. He brought her a flower. She kisses him and once again thanks him for defending her against Joshua. She can tell something is up. He tells her that his parents arrived and surprised him. They are waiting for him in the lobby. He wants her to go so they can all meet. Meanwhile, in the lobby, Eladio comments that David is taking a while. Julia reminds him to be patient, after all they arrived and caught him by surprise. He agrees. Julia takes advantage of the time and talks to Eladio about Gaby and Franco. She tells him that they asked her to speak to him on their behalf. They want to make it official and become novios. Eladio does not agree. First of all they live under the same roof, he says, and second he's my....(PAUSE from Eladio) Franco is your what? asks Julia.
Back in Regina's room she doesn't think it's the right time to meet his parents. He understands, but he wanted to make sure to ask her and be respectful of their relationship. She understands that he can't leave his parents hanging after they made the trip to see him. He kisses her forehead (???) and orders room service for her.
Eladio back tracks and says that Franco is his right hand man and he does not want to mix his business life with his personal life. Julia hopes that it doesn't bother Eladio that Franco's father was the chauffer because it does not bother her or Gaby. He says no because he came from a poor background too. Julia finally convinces Eladio to at least think about Gaby and Franco being novios. She thanks him with some kisses and David sees this when he comes back. He says he is ready to go.
Connie gives Miguel the good news about the test results. He wonders how Erick reacted and she says he was happy too, but that they have decided not to obsess about having a baby. Miguel asks if that was a mutual decision or just Erick, but then back tracks and apologizes. He tries to change the subject but it's too late.
Franco has a chat with Marinita, the new secretary. He tells her that he does not want David at the offices because he wants everything for himself. He wants her to be his eyes and ears. He wants her to find out if David is Eladio's bio son and wants her to keep an eye out for an old woman named Gisela. His Godfather is paying her off and Franco wants to know why.
Gisela goes to visit her daughter in jail. She has written a letter for a son to tell him that she will look for him soon. Gisela tells her that it might not be easy to find him. She thinks that it was best that her son not know that his mother was in jail.
At lunch Julia shows off her new phone to David. They take a selfie. Eladio gets a phone call and steps away from the table. Julia takes advantage and asks David about the girl he was kissing because she looked familiar. He tells her that she is an architect working on the project with him and that they are getting to know each other. He asks if she would accept the woman he loves no matter what and Julia tells him that as long as she is a good person and makes him happy, that is all she needs to accept her. Eladio comes back to the table and apologizes for the interruption. He asks David to go and work with him because the company is growing bigger everyday. Julia tells Eladio that David wants to be independant. David appreciates the offer but he is still working on his thesis and on the project in Queretaro. David tells him that he will consider the offer for a future project. Eladio agrees and they toast.
Franco is acting like an a** and comes to bother Francisco in his office. He throws Francisco's lunch away claiming that it's stinking up the place. They start to argue and Francisco tells him to stop bothering him and to respect his space. Die Franco Die!
Connie and Miguel video chat with Regina. Connie tells her what the doctor said. Regina is happy for her. When Miguel asks about David Regina tells them about the surprise visit from his parents and how he wanted to introduce her to them. She tells them that she got scared because she knows they won't accept her. Miguel tells her that first they have to see if the relationship is worth it before causing more problems between the feuding families. Then Regina tells them about Joshua's appearance at the ceremony and how he ruined everything.
Speaking of Joshua, he shows up at the Montenegro's. Dani wants to know why he is there and he tells her that he has some gossip. He saw Regina with the son of Eladio Gomez Luna in Queretaro. QUE? says Dani. Regina is with David?
Eladio makes David promise that he consider working with him in the future. David promises that after all of his obligations are done he will talk with his father about it. They say their goodbyes and Julia promises to stay in contact when they go on their trip.
Dani wants to know why David was in Queretaro. Dani is totally jealous as she gets more information from Joshua. He tells her that Regina is interested in David. Dani vows to find out what's going on and to do something about it.
Eladio talks to Franco about him and Gaby. He doesn't like the idea but his wife is insisting so he will accept their relationship. Before he leaves Franco makes sure to let Eladio know that he saw Montse during his lunch break. She must not have left for Europe. Eladio calls Montse and leaves her a message. Since she didn't listen to him she can forget about her contract with his company. She will never work for him again.
Back at the house Gaby thanks Julia for her intervention with Eladio. She warns Gaby to be careful with Franco. They talk about making reservations for her trip.
Dani tells her parents that she is saying goodbye because she is leaving for Queretaro. Arturo tells her No Way Jose! With whose permission? Didn't I tell you that the parties and trips were over? Dani pouts and looks at her mother.
Montse goes to see Eladio to try and explain why she didn't leave town. She only postponed the trip because her mother got sick. And she didn't tell him because he told her never to call him. She tries to convince him that she loves him and goes around the desk to kiss him. Right at that moment Julia walks in and sees them. Cara de impactado de Eladio. Julia actually looks a little jealous?

Gracias, AuntyAnn. I don't think you missed much. I had a problem with UVideos and it took several pauses and restarts to see the whole episode.
It started with refritos, BTW.
Franco is an ass, but that action reminded me of a former boss who couldn't stand the smell of food in the office. Francisco had a door to shut unless I'm mistaken, so Franco has no case. He's stressing because of the threat he feels from Eladio appearing to get along with David. He may not have figured out that this is still only a veneer.
Joshua is even worse. He can't hear the word "no" and he now has created a situation that will explode in both families. Since Daniela has already seen photos on the internet those two troublemakers don't need to do anything. Nina will probably see this in the next episode and go screaming to Arturo.
Whomever said that Erick is the one with the problem, congratulations. I love that he heard the news directly from the doctor that Consuelo doesn't have a problem. Let's see... maybe he got the mumps when he was 13? Nina should have seen to it that her children were vaccinated against it.

AuntyAnn, another fine recap, an intoxicating blend of subtle and not so subtle (Die Joshua Die! and Die Franco Die!) comments that made me smile.
"She tells him that she felt he was using her the last time they had sex. (He did) He vows to work on their marriage. (He won't)" (another great line). I’m sure many couples feel undue pressure and in this case, Connie is putting way too much on herself. Erick’s “He says he knows he used to pressure her but that they shouldn't make it a priority and just let it happen when it happens” were the correct sentiments that were voiced for all of the wrong reasons - the selfish, lying, cheating brute.
Julia correctly surmises that Franco is not in love with Gaby. I'm a bit surprised she agreed to vouch for him to Eladio, it's apparent she doesn't care for him but is putting her intuition aside to make Gaby happy. Let's hope Augustin is able to swoop in and carry her away before she gets further involved with Franco. Is there any doubt he is his father's despicable son???
I think Joshua has turned the corner of insanity. He is frenetic and crazed. Stop the madness!!! I do like the fact Regina is able to handle crisis situations (this and the news David was with Dani) by getting through them and then bouncing back rather quickly. I am enjoying her character.
Susana Gonzales is such an amazing actress. She is trying to be in a happy place believing her husband is finally accepting David, yet she emits vulnerability, skittishness and concern in the proper doses. I'm not quite sure if saw the kiss but Monse was spread over Eladio like the cheap piece of goods she is. It will be interesting how she handles this. I’m sure many couples feel undue pressure and in this case, Connie is putting way too much on herself. Erick’s “He says he knows he used to pressure her but that they shouldn't make it a priority and just let it happen when it happens” were the correct sentiments that were voiced for all of the wrong reasons - the selfish, lying, cheating brute.
Julia correctly surmises that Franco is not in love with Gaby. I'm a bit surprised she agreed to vouch for him to Eladio, it's apparent she doesn't care for him but is putting her intuition aside to make Gaby happy. Let's hope Augustin is able to swoop in and carry her away before she gets further involved with Franco. Is there any doubt he is his father's despicable son???
I think Joshua has turned the corner of insanity. He is frenetic and crazed. Stop the madness!!! I do like the fact Regina is able to handle crisis situations (this and the news David was with Dani) by getting through them and then bouncing back rather quickly. I am enjoying her character.
Susana Gonzales is such an amazing actress. She is trying to be in a happy place believing her husband is finally accepting David, yet she emits vulnerability, skittishness and concern in the proper doses. I'm not quite sure if saw the kiss but Monse was spread over Eladio like the cheap piece of goods she is. It will be interesting how she handles this. I doubt Eladio will be able to talk himself out of this but...

The only thing I can think of that you missed at the beginning of the episode was Gina and David wrapping up a meeting with some person on their construction project. Once they are alone, David suggests that since they work so well together, they should start up their own construction business as partners—Gomez Luna y Montenegro Construction. Then they both quickly come to the realization that both their fathers would have a heart attack, and decide to table that idea for now, and smooch instead.
Diana- ITA about SG’s acting. You can see Julia willing herself to be happy, but also clearly see the tension just underneath. David is the same way, and during that lunch scene, when David refused Eladio’s offer to work with him, you could see both Julia and David tense up, just waiting for Eladio to explode.
My mouth was hanging open as Josh made that scene during Gina’s award ceremony. The absolute nerve! Proposing, grabbing her, insulting her accomplishment, starting a fight, destroying property. I can’t believe those officials just let him go like that, instead of having him arrested. And then they looked at Gina like she was at fault for it all. Josh just did major damage to her professional reputation. And now Dani’s on the warpath too. Oy! Honeymoon is over for Gina and David.
Can I just say, I was digging that little move David did, moving his finger over Gina’s as she showed him the architecture concepts. But I can’t believe the Writers are trying to convince me that those two made out all night, slept together, and no clothes were removed, unzipped, unbuttoned, or even untucked? Hmmmmmm….

As difficult as it could be to reveal that she was working with David, Regina has to tell Arturo about Joshua's ruining the ceremony. Although he has nothing to do with her professional qualifications what he did is going to bite her in the tuchas and while he isn't smart enough to know this, I think Daniela is.

I wonder how much sibling rivalry warfare has gone on between the two sisters and when it started. I'm guessing that they have at least a four-year age difference and Nina began favoring Daniela as soon as Regina started school and developing her own personality.
Urban- Well, Nina has effectively drilled into Gina's head that Dani is beautiful and fun to be around, and that Gina is not. Gina said this about herself when she was drunk the first time she and David fell asleep together.

Vivi. Regina is suffering the result of having a narcissistic mother. No matter what your value as a human being is if you're not what she wants -- which is a clone of herself -- you will feel worthless. This doesn't completely go away in adult life even with a shrink because you can't erase the emotions you had about it as a little girl or a teen.

To add what everyone's been saying about Nina/Regina:
Regina isn't a trashy sexpot like Nina & Daniela. Regina probably takes after Arturo...hardworking, studious, etc. The child Arturo should be taking under his wing is Regina...she, out of the 4 Montenegro children, is probably the best one to take over the company and keep it going foward when Arturo retires/dies.
Because Regina probable takes more after Arturo, he's given her more positive attention (I suspect) than Daniela. Dani doesn't like that, so she steals the male attention from Regina that she can.
It really doesn't matter if its Joshua, David, Chip the IT guy, etc...if Regina is interested in a guy, Daniela is going after him.
Nina probably wants to get rid of Regina for a variation on the same reason: to knock out a rival for Arturo's attentions.

Anon207- He obviously didn't pay enough attention to Gina to see how Nina was chipping away at her self-esteem. But I agree, that he has noticed that she gets good grades and works hard, and likely acknowledges that. But frankly, I don't think he's been very involved in ANY of his kid's lives.
Since it might be important later, the IT guy Eladio was meeting with is being contracted to do some internet sabotage of the Montenegro group. One of the things the guy proposed was sending internet searchers to a porn site, any time they click on a Montenegro hotel, or making their reservation system inoperable. This is all to get back at Arturo (and Miguel) for making Montenegro hotels pop up first in internet searches for Acapulco hotels.

The most shocking scene for me last night was that idiot Joshua. I am tired of him. Does he not have anything better to do. I guess he's just a rich spoiled brat with too much time on his hands. He would not even make a good husband. He would actually be worse than Erick. I think Erick at least pretends to work. He shows up at the offices, but does he do any work is yet to be seen.
I am really liking Gina and David together and I like that David didn't lie to her about his parents and inviting her even though he knew it's too soon. I am dreading Dani showing up and ruining the start of their relationship. I think Dani and Joshua should go on a long trip together and stay away for a while.
I seems like Art has been absent from his children's lives for the most part. He is the typical TN father that is too busy working to be involved in their upbringing. Or it could also be that Art was there for them, but they had a horrible mother. And their mother had too much influence over Dani and Erick. Gina, however, is more like Art and was able to turn out more normal. Miguel was ignored, but seems to have turned out better than Dani and Erick.
Urban, I want to thank you for your recap from yesterday. As always it was superb and a delight to read.

Daniela is a lazy slut who probably never did well in school. She might have been just barely passing most of the time and Nina never cared about it. "You're beautiful and someday you'll marry someone with money" would be her attitude. She probably told Arturo that everything was alright with the kids when he worked 14 hours a day to pay the bills.
Erick was probably an average student. Not failing, but not brilliant. However, he sounds like a bully and may have been effective enough at it to not have been caught. Otherwise Arturo would have been repeatedly in the principal's office because I'm sure that they contact fathers of male bullies.
