Antes muerta que Lichita #55 Wednesday 12/10/15

Well, let us just pick up where we left off at the bachelor/bachelorette party where Nestor's "wife" turned out to be part of the entertainment: the stripper. Néstor grabs her by the hand to talk to her in private and it turns out that she is Delia the same girl he hired to play his wife so that his coworkers at Icónika would stop teasing him about being gay. Néstor is mortified that after playing his wife,  Delia would show up as the stripper. As far as she is concerned business is business. She offers to do a "private dance"for him and charge him on the side. That sounds good to him but what will he do afterwards?

At the mansion, Rafael goes to visit Dafne in her room. She is concerned about him taking heart medication. Is he that ill?  He tells her that he needs to take his meds; if not he could end up having a heart attack. She should not worry because that is not going to happen. Dafne examines his pill box which was a gift from his father (her grandfather). He is interested in what she is doing so late on her computer. She is doing research on violence in schools. Just at that moment Beatriz comes in and Rafael informs her that they are talking about bullying. Beatriz gets all weird, like she does, anytime that Dafne might need her help or protection. Dafne puts the pill box back on the desk.

Back at the party, Alex and Elías are watching and Elías is admiring the women dancing. Alex decides it is time for him to go and they will see each other tomorrow at the church. Néstor reappears talking to himself saying that nobody even noticed  but Chuchette in a police hat is right there to call him on his absence with his "wife".

Back at the mansion, Beatriz is giving a lecture on how bullying is demonic and how in the Bible it says "Do unto others as you who have them do unto you" but in these times . . . Before she can say more, Valeria comes in looking for Rafael. She is concerned about him taking his meds. He tells her he already did. Valeria is wondering where Luciana is at that hour and Beatriz has to remind her it is Luciana's bachelorette party. Tomorrow when she marries her life is going to be so different. Dafne pipes up with that Luciana is more like Beatriz's and Augusto's daughter than she is, so maybe Valeria and Gabriel can adopt her. Enough silliness. It's bed time. The weddings are at noon tomorrow. Rafael kisses Dafne's  hand as they all leave Dafne's room. Rafael forgets his pill box and leaves it on Dafne's desk.

Back at the party, Elías is having a dance off/strip off with the male stripper. Chuchette is busy telling Néstor just how "super gay" she thinks he is. Why else would he have hired a woman of the oldest profession in the world to pose as his wife? He insists that he is not gay: not that there is anything wrong with it. (did they all watch Seinfeld in Mexico too?  too funny) He insists he is heterosexual: 100% a real man. If she wants, he will show her tonight. Could he be a wild animal under the sheets?? She decides not to find out. He tells her he is tired of begging her. Braulio overhears them and is not pleased. Chuchette tells Nëstor to go and have a good time with the stripper since it is all paid for already. He tells her she just left. She says go to see if he can catch her. He is off to see if he can. Chuchette grabs Braulio by his beard and  accuses him of being jealous. Brisas sees it all and is jealous. Luciana Chuchette to go talk. Elías tells Brisas that Braulio is jealous of Néstor and she of Chuchette. Must be the season. Brisas looks miserable. Turns out Luciana (with the toilet paper still wrapped around her head) is all upset because Alicia never showed up at the party. (Guess she wanted to pick on her to really have a good time) Chuchette tells her that Alicia will show up in a bit and all she has to do is wait. Luciana could not look more miserable when some of the guests at the party approach her with baby gifts and want to turn it into a baby shower. Even Fátima has a baby gift for her. Luciana is upset.

Back at the coffee shop, Alicia and Roberto are leaving. Roberto is telling her he still has to tell her something but he will do that at the airport where they will meet in two hours. She will go home, pack her bags and say good bye to her family. She wants to know what will happen to Gumaro. Roberto says to just give him two hours more and he will explain everything to her. She will understand everything then. She will get the tickets and they will be off to Huatulco. They are both excited and happy.

Alicia arrives at her house in the early morning hours and Elsa is still up to talk to her. Nacho is asleep. Alicia tells her mother that she and Roberto are planning on leaving the city together. Elsa is very happy that her daughter is not going to get married to someone she does not love.

At the same time, Roberto is on the phone with a very sleepy Gumaro who keeps slapping himself to keep himself awake. Roberto tells him that is a few hours he, Mateo and Alicia are going to the beach where they will stay until things calm down because things are going to get bad. He needs Gumaro to pack a bag for him and Mateo with just the necessities. He will come by to pick up the bag. If he can't he will let Gumaro know. Yes, he is going to go get Mateo. Gumaro is left confused.

Back at the Gutiérrez household, Elsa is telling Alicia that she and her father will get along just fine without her. Alicia says she still wants to help them out. Elsa tells her it is time for her to make her own life and how happy she deserves to be. Elsa does not want her worrying about them so much: they are healthy, their café business is going well, Ximena has her mother and her grandparents of course. Alicia lets her know that no matter what in two or three weeks she will be back and will be in contact from wherever she is staying. She also thanks her mother for all of her support. Elsa asks would she not support her daughter whom she adores? Alicia tells us there she was with the blessing of her mother ready to follow her destiny and to find love.

At the orphanage, Roberto is talking to the watchman trying to convince him to let him in to give his son a kiss because he is going out of town on a business trip. He plays to the guard's vanity calling him commander and captain to flatter him.

It is evidently after the party, because a very drunk Néstor has brought back a couple of girls to his place: his palace. The girls think it looks more like a bazaar of men's clothes. There are shirts hanging all over the place as Néstor brags he never wears the same shirt more than once in a week or even in a month! He just acts crazy talking about wearing clothes to look good, and not to smell of moth balls and not making much sense. He mentions friends with benefits. The girls don't find him to be much fun and are out of there. He is singing he is just "a love machine" when he sits down and cracks the glass in a photo frame with his hand by accident. He looks at the photo of him, a woman and two children and wonders where his wife and children could be. He cries.

Roberto has made it into Mateo's room at the orphanage. He tells him they are going to pull a prank. Mateo thinks it is putting tacks on his teacher's chair. Roberto says maybe another time but this time they are going to escape. They have to make plans.Roberto wakes up Mateo's roommate Tomás to help. Tomás wants to know if they are going to put tacks on the teacher's chair. Roberto says no, he is going to help him and Mateo escape.

Alicia has arrived at the airport with two bags and is smiling nervously.

At the orphanage, it is just about dawn and Roberto is talking with the guard and a woman supervisor who is telling him he has no right to be there at that time. Roberto takes full responsibility just as Tomás and some other kids start play fighting over a stuffed animal. As she and the guard go to try to contain the ruckus, Roberto tells them he will watch the door. It is then that he is able to motion to Mateo and they slip out of the orphanage. A few minutes later, all of the boys are returned to their beds. The supervisor gets a phone call from the director of the orphanage to check on things and to make sure everything is okay. The supervisor mentions Roberto's visit which really angers the director. Why was he allowed in at that early time of the morning? The supervisor tells her about Roberto going out of town and saying goodbye. The director knows all about the judge not giving him custody of Mateo yet and remanding Mateo back into the custody of the orphanage for two more months. The director says Roberto must have been furious. At that moment the supervisor notices that Mateo is not in his bed: stuffed animals are there instead. She thinks Roberto took him. Tomás just laughs silently in his bed.

Alicia is at the airport talking to Roberto who is at a park. She tells him that the first flight to Huatulco leaves in a little more than an hour. Another leaves in the afternoon. He tells her to buy tickets for the first flight. He will explain everything to her as soon as he gets there. He wants her to get on the plane as soon as they start boarding and just leave the other tickets for him at the gate where he will pick them up. He swears he will catch up with her. She tells him to be careful.

Roberto and Mateo are zipping along in Roberto's car. Roberto is telling Mateo that what they did was wrong but that he just could not stand being away from him another day. Now they are on their way to the beach. He is going to get to see the ocean and meet someone. Suddenly there are sirens and police cars. They are stopped by the police who have a warrant for Roberto's arrest on the grounds of kidnapping.

Alicia is at the airport waiting with three tickets and looking worried.

Roberto is being stopped and arrested at gunpoint as Mateo has no idea of what is happening or why his father is being handcuffed. Poor Mateo is traumatized as they take Roberto away to one police car and Mateo to another. They also take Roberto's cell phone. It is a sad scene with father and son screaming for each other as they are driven away in two cars.

Nacho is up early and is half asleep having breakfast with Elsa. He wants to know when Alicia got in. She got in very late and Elsa tells him the news. Nacho is not as happy as Elsa is eventhough he is happy Alicia is marrying her love. He just is upset that Alicia is, in his opinion, throwing her profession, all she worked for and job away. She will be starting from nothing again. Elsa does not see it that way and tells him she can always get a job at another ad agency. Nacho is not too sure about that at all. Ximena comes limping out with a cane. She is going to help Elsa find a recipe on her laptop for Irish coffee that some customers have been asking for.

Alicia is very worried at the airport and Roberto is not answering her calls.

At the mansion it is the morning of the wedding and Beatriz, very excited (in more ways than one), goes to talk to Augusto in his room. She is so excited for Alex. Augusto just wants his breakfast. Beatriz is thinking of grandchildren already. Eventhough Alicia is of a different social class, she is sure she will be a good mother and if not there is always her. Augusto takes this opportunity to remind her that when they started out he had nothing but his name because his father had left everything to Rafael. Now look how life turns things around: he Augusto is the millionaire. Augusto laughs. Beatriz is physically all over Augusto and he does everything he can to avoid her and her desire to sin. He is off to get his "huevos divorciados" (Two fried eggs usually separated with beans/one egg usually covered with a red sauce and the other in green sauce) and a sauce rich in antioxidants.

Alicia at the airport is still calling Roberto to no avail and getting more and more upset as boarding time approaches. The airline representative asks Alicia if she is boarding or not. Just at that moment, a couple has a fight right in front of Alicia where the woman feels that her boyfriend is cheating on her. Alicia then starts remembering Roberto in certain umcomfortable situations and starts getting upset. She finally pulls herself together and gets her boarding pass but half way down the hall she decides to not get on the plane, turns around and comes back.

At the police station, Roberto is in a jail cell  and  asking the police guard for his cell phone. The answer is repeatedly "right away" but Roberto never gets his phone. Venus shows up at the jail to tell Roberto  that this was the last thing she had ever expected from him. Mateo is back at the orphanage. Roberto is all upset because the last time he saw Mateo he was crying. She explains that Mateo doesn't understand what happened at his age but he is totally affected by it just the same. No, he did not need his medicine. What Roberto needs to know is he has just wasted everything he did to try to get custody of his son. What he did was a serious crime. Roberto feels as if he did not have another choice:having to wait for two more months and maybe not getting custody. Venus tells him that those situations could be dealt with but what he did is going to have serious consequences not just for him but also for her and other people.

At the mansion, Rafael meets Beatriz in the hall and wants to apologize for not inviting her and Augusto to his and Valeria's wedding years and years ago. Augusto appears and reminds him when they did come anyway, Rafael ran them off. Beatriz wants everyone just to make nice. She does not want them to be like Cain and Abel on this beautiful day of happiness. Rafael apologizes to Augusto and hopes that someday Augusto can forgive him. Augusto says it is already forgotten and put away in the "trunk of memories". Augusto kisses Rafael on the head and just chuckles. As he moves on, Beatriz puckers up, but he kisses her on the head, too. Beatriz tells Rafael that her husband does not hold grudges. Today is a day to be joyful. Rafael tells Beatriz that he is concerned that Dafne is suffering from bullying. Beatriz makes light of it saying it is nothing to be alarmed about because God will take care of us. Rafael is left looking quizzical.

Back in the jail, Roberto is still talking to Venus. He is asking for her help. She says that that will not be possible considering he is the first person to ever cause them that kind of problem at the orphanage. Roberto's lawyer shows up and one of them has to go. He and Venus cannot be with Roberto at the same time. Venus is leaving anyway. She wishes Roberto luck because he is going to need it.

Alicia is very upset in a cab muttering to herself that it just cannot be. The cabdriver is hard of hearing and thinks she is talking to him. She tells him to go towards the Periférico (outer beltway around México, D.F.) and she will tell him what exit to take. Alicia continues calling Roberto. Still there is no answer.

At the mansion, Luciana has just gotten up and is taking selfies on her wedding day. Dafne comes in and tries to get under her skin mentioning her romantic adventure in Argentina. Luciana is super happy and she tells Dafne that anything she is going to say to her is just going to roll off. Dafme feels sorry for Roberto having a scorpion like Luciana for a wife since she is false, frivolous, a hypocrite . . . Luciana reminds her that she at least is getting married not like Dafne. Nobody will ever want to marry a barrel like her. Dafne calls her a snake and "stinky". Luciana reminds her she is very evil and that Dafne should be careful around her. Rafael comes in just when Luciana is calling Dafne a triglyceride and cholesterol ball. Gabriel is not happy with Luciana and tells her she is guilty of "family bullying." He is so disappointed in Luciana. Dafne just grins.

Back in the jail, Roberto's lawyer is telling him that he cannot believe he did something like that. His lawyer says he made a few contacts and Roberto is going to get out. He had to call in favors and that takes time but he should be out in a couple of hours which will be just enough time to put on his tuxedo and get married. He reminds him that marriage is the "perpetual chain". Roberto, says he has to go somewhere else first once he is out of jail.

Gumaro is in the apartment when the doorbell rings. He opens the door thinking it is Roberto but it isn't. It is Alicia who now knows he is not confined to a wheel chair. WHOOPSIE!

Roberto sure kept digging himself in deeper and deeper. Too bad Alicia had to be swept away and involved in his harebrained plan. Kidnap his son? Really? Go against the court? Really? Not expect to be tracked down? "Think much, Roberto?" Is the question I would have asked him.

Hmmm. I was not pleased with the big deal they made about Gabriel's pill box. Let us hope he has a couple of places he keeps his medication, if you know what I mean.

Looks like the wedding is today. At least we know how we got there now.

Jarifa, loved your recap which (once again) captured every word and action to perfection.

You gifted us with so many wonderful lines including: "Luciana (with the toilet paper still wrapped around her head) is all upset because Alicia never showed up at the party. (Guess she wanted to pick on her to really have a good time") which was so insightful and very spot on. Also enjoyed "Beatriz, very excited (in more ways than one) which made me smile.

As Roberto had his Gumaro, Mateo has his Tomás. I believe a lifelong friendship has already been formed.

"Dafne pipes up with that Luciana is more like Beatriz's and Augusto's daughter than she is, so maybe Valeria and Gabriel can adopt her". How sad but of course the clever Dafne has already seized on the fact Rafael has shown more kindness, compassion and interest in the short time he's been there than either of her parents have shown her during her lifetime. While Dafne is strong, I am very worried about what is going on with her. Children can only take so much hurt...

When Roberto was cuffed, we finally saw the furious, angry side that was likely fairly evident to his fellow inmates. I cannot believe he threw everything away with such an ill conceived and frankly, simply stupid plan.

Venus conveyed the seriousness of what Roberto had done but I get the impression she is still rather on Roberto's side.

If anyone felt a hint of sadness when Nestor broke the picture of his wife and children, let me say that you are far kinder than I. He is a terrible person and I don't care what the backstory is - he can't atone for what he put Alicia through.

Luciana's words to Dafne were cringeworthy. I did smile at the parade of baby gifts.

I can only hope that neither marriage takes place. Can't wait til tonight!

Thanks again Jarifa!

Diana

Great recap!!

Oh Rob what a disaster!! It is good the judge gave a delay of two months because he'll need all that time to atone.

Jarifa, agree the whole pill box convo is worrisome. Must admit as we hear more clues about Augie and Rafas past, Rafa doesn't sound so nice.

Alicia feeling like she has been played again could have lasting consequences if she marries Alex out of spite now.

Diana, I'm with you. I felt no sympathy for Nestor. On contrary, felt like deserved karma.

Diana and Carvivlie, ITA about Néstor, too. He has been just too mean. I am not interested in his character at all.

I'm glad we all agree on Nestor, Carvivlie and Jarifa.

I'm going to be pretty steamed if this is some weak attempt to gain our sympathy. There is no road to redemption for him in my eyes. There's a road all right, but it ain't going there! :(

Diana

Well put, Diana. Your "road" comment is making me laugh this a.m.

Jarifa- Not much time and I'm on my phone. Just want to thank you for recapping such a painful episode. I'm left speechless by Rob's stupidity.

Great recap Jarifa and really appreciate this.

I still love this show, two days ago I never would expect Roberto would kidnap his son with a real possibility of losing him. Having said that Roberto is still the manipulative thug he has always been and hate all it takes is a few kisses and Alicia forgets. So, he intended to show up at the airport and do what? Dump the problem he started on Alicia to clean up? Expect a child in tow would keep her from kicking his lying ass to the curb? He's awesome at making people (especially women) cover for his cowardly ways of handling conflict but he is incapable of understanding it is they that have to deal with the mess after he skates off grinning. For me at least he is a rascal and not a lovable one any longer and Alicia would suffer one humiliating disappointment after another married to him.

I don't see Alicia is marrying out of spite but only fulfilling what she obligated herself to and almost didn't.

Thankfully I got to see a TT bedecked Luciana having a sad. I mean, Ingrid is so awesome.

Great recap Jarifa---even though you got this crazy episode with Roberto running off the rails, still you did it justice and answered a few of my questions that had
developed along the way. An example was the couple arguing at the airport. That scene had left me scratching my head but now I understand. So thanks again.

Carvivile---Sorry that I couldn't get back to answer your question yesterday. I had to leave early to get some work done as I again will have to do today. I did read later on however that your question had gotten answered and so it worked out ok.

Diana---I agree with you about Nestor. Ok he had an unpleasant past so he has decided to hurt and make others unhappy as well. That's not a good reaction. No he's not a good person and so I'm standing with you on the Nestor issue.

it has already been brought up that Alicia is very angry at this point. With the wedding just a few hours away, there won't be enough time for explanations or time to kiss and make up and so---the wedding will take place as planned. Now we know what the short spot in the shows intro is all about. The scene in which Alicia in her wedding dress is riding in the car and she is seen rolling up the cars window as Roberto is trying to talk to her.

So the wedding will probably be tonight. How is that going to work out?

must see tv
the gringo

Thanks Jarifa! What a crazy episode. I thought it was a little out of character for Alicia to leave the job she worked sooo hard to get only to run off with Roberto. But I guess the message there is love makes you do crazy things??

Roberto is like Magos....small steps forward and the next moment leaps backwards. I cant believe he even thought he would get away with a stunt like that....seriously how does he hope to gain custody now.

Why does Bea get that funny look on her face anytime Dafne and bullying is mentioned??

Oh I'm so hoping these weddings don't go through! Didn't Rob tell Alicia that he would not marry Luci no matter what? Well he is still at the altar with her so is he really going to stand up and say no? Will my dreams of Kenny showing up and stopping Alex and Ali from making a huge mistake actually happen? Hopefully in his football uniform too?

As the gringo says, must watch tv!

Cece- I think Bea gets a funny look on her face any time Dafne is mentioned, period. She'd rather forget her existence.

Still not convinced Rafael did anything wrong, other than being bad with money and spoiling his daughter. Maybe their father disinherited Agustin and Rafael didn't invite him to his wedding because, you know, Agustin is a big jerk (who happens to have slept with Rafael's wife!).

I really hope Rafael doesn't have a heart attack, but think it could easily happen if Rob refuses to marry Luci at the altar.

Tofie, so far Roberto has done little to convince us he is not a " manipulative thug" as you put it. He is going to have a looooooong crawl back to decency. Probably would not be possible in the real world.

Gringo, glad my recap answered some questions. It is especially "must watch tv" tonight. I cannot wait!

CeCe, you are so right about Roberto being like Magos. They have a lot in common especially their narcissism and bent sense of morality.

Vivi, yup, I think you hit it on the head with Beatriz and her attitude towards Dafne.

Carvivlie, it would be great if Kenny did appear to whisk Alex away in front of EVERYBODY. What would Beatriz do then?

Thanks, Jarifa. Beautiful recap. You captured the inexplicable Beatriz with this line: Beatriz gets all weird, like she does, anytime that Dafne might need her help or protection.

How stupid was Roberto this episode? How dare he put the orphanage staff in a bad position. Poor Mateo watching his dad get arrested. Imbecile.

As Roberto had his Gumaro, Mateo has his Tomás. I believe a lifelong friendship has already been formed.

Diana, what a beautiful sentiment. I hadn't even thought about that.

ITA with all on Nestor. Basta, you petty gossip.
