Antes Muerta Que Lichita #56 Thursday 12/10/15: Lessons Every Telenovela Character Needs to Learn
Rehash of what has happened over the last few episodes but lets get straight to the point:
Alicia is speechless as she sees the "sick" Gumaro standing and acting like this is his everyday norm. He wonders why Alicia is giving him a weird look and she spells it out for him...she has never seen Gumaro in anything but a wheelchair. As he invites her in Gumaro's mouth runs far ahead of his brain. He tells her she must know everything by now since she came for the luggage. She just muffles a yea sure as he yaps away. He tells her she then knows that Beto and Gumaro are not actually brothers and he really is not sick. All of these lies Roberto had to make-up so that he can use her to get into Iconika...because you know he did not know a thing about the being a publicist. Alicia quietly takes this all in.
Lesson 1: Facial expressions are not adornments and usually mean something.
To understand what a character is feeling just pay attention. An extra bonus is to do
so when they think you are not looking.
In the mansion, Rafael chastises Luciana for verbally harassing her very own cousin. He is very disappointed in her since he feels that they did not raise her to be like this. Both Luciana and Dafne start fighting again and it is not long before Rafael starts clutching his chest. He tells them not to worry, he just needs his pills but cannot remember where he placed them.
Alicia takes a brief trip down memory lane, replaying all the instances where Roberto and Gumaro perpetuated their lies in front of her and her family. Anger starts to replace her initial shock. She believes that once again the joke was on her. She actually believed Roberto loved her...but all his past actions (including marrying Luciana) are showing that he too will do just about anything to get ahead.
Bea calls an ambulance who are on their way...(+10 for Bea). Rafael must not be thinking clearly because he insists that he will be allright once he has his pills (-20 for Rafael, how will this come about when everyone is in your room twiddling their fingers). Finally Dafne, remembers where he left the pills and runs out the room to get it. Luciana makes this about her and believes Dafne did this just to ruin her wedding day. Augusto uncharacteristically watches the scene unfold quietly in the background barely hiding the smirk on his face.
Lesson 2: To ensure a long life, anytime someone displays some type of
distress CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY. Do not waste time wondering what to do...it is not
very productive. (Caveat: If a female faints or feels dizzy just order a pregnancy test).
Poor Mateo still suffers from the actions of his irresponsible, childish fathers. He want to see his father. The teacher and Tomas try to calm him down as he is still breathing irregularly.
Turns out Rafael will be okay according to the doctor. Because he took his pills, his pressure has normalized. Valeria is thankful that she will not be widow today. Once Bea leaves with the doctor. Don Augusto perks up and scolds Dafne for taking so long to realize where the pills were. Luciana joins in and pretty much blaming her if something worse happened. Poor Dafne is almost in tears but Valeria and Rafael had enough sense to get the two connivers off poor Dafne's back.
After snapping back from the past, Alicia gives Gumaro a nice slap in the face. She then makes circles in the kitchen trying to catch him. She yells that both him and Roberto are disgraces. They have mocked her and her family and worse Ximena. Gumaro finally realizes that Alicia did not know anything and he spilled the beans. She storms out the apartment and finds solitude in some park. Alicia swears again that the old Alicia is now no more. She vows that she will not be the same Alicia as before from this moment on.

At Gutierrez household, Ximena wants to get ready for the wedding and put on her dress. Magos also expresses some excitement. However they do not seem to notice the glances and shadiness from the parents. They hedge and haw saying whats the rush....for whatever reason they do not want to inform Magos and Ximena that this wedding will likely not happen. It is to their surprise when Alicia walks in the front door like its just any other day. She wonders aloud why they are not ready.
Rafael settles down in his room and Valeria leaves the two boys to talk. Rafael once again thanks Augusto for taking care of Luciana so well. He informs Augusto that the house in Argentina has sold and he is just waiting for the money. Augusto tells him not to worry, that he can stay at the house as long as he likes. He does mention his worry over where Luciana and Roberto will live after the wedding (seems like something Roberto needs to handle not you no??).

Meanwhile Luciana is in her room getting her bath ready. She confides to her mother that she is worried about Roberto. She worries that Roberto will not show up to the wedding, since both him and Alicia were missing from their bachelor/bachelorette party last night. Luciana reminds her mom that she found Beto and Alicia kissing during her investigative days. Valeria thinks its all coincidence and does not want to give it further thought. They are interrupted by the presence of Don Augusto who decides to lurk in the background. Valeria dismisses them all to get ready but Don Augusto returns to investigate the photo of Beto and Alicia kissing on Luciana's unlocked phone (wait didn't he already know about this??).
Back to the Gutierrez household, Alicia lies to everyone about her morning whereabouts. She tells them she went to record a commercial. She wants to get ready because she has an appointment with Marcelo soon. But before she leaves she tells them that they mean the world to her. Her work and family are the only thing that keeps her pushing forward. Later her parents take her aside to give them the rundown. Alicia informs them that Roberto deceived her yet again (did I imagine an eye roll from Elsa). She does not even what to mention his name at this point. She will go forward with the wedding with Alex. She tells her mom not to worry. Even though she is not marrying for love know she can learn to love Alex. Her mind is made up and nothing can change it. Elsa visibly does not approve while Nacho believes that it's not all so bad. Alex is a good guy from a good family.
Bea as always gushes over Alex. She is too happy that her prayers are finally answered and she will see him married in church. Alex for once shows happiness as well but more for how well things are going for him her in Mexico. He really likes the Publicist career and looks forward to being President of API.
Roberto finally gets released from prison. He checks his phone and receives several missed calls. His lawyer informs Roberto that his car will be in detainment for longer due to all the paperwork. He also will spin the tale to the judge that he did this criminally stupid act (ok ok my words) for his son to see his soon to be wife before they married...because that was what you were going to do RIGHT?? Instead of answering Roberto takes this moment to escape with the excuse that he needs to get ready for his wedding.
Lesson 5: Do not spend so much money on the first wedding dress.
You will likely have a second or maybe even third wedding by the end of your
story. This applies if you are a good girl....if you are evil well your future looks more murky.

However his first stop was the orphanage. He head is filled with silly delusions that he could actually see his son so soon after his stupid actions. Venus denies him this privilege. He should have thought about his actions and the consequences that would happen afterwards (which Beto confirmed that he did not think it out either). Venus is concerned about this as well. So what that things did not go his way...there are other ways to solve the problem. He should concentrate on getting married and providing a good maternal role model for Mateo. This is what will influence the judge decision. Venus assures him that Mateo will be ok. Roberto thanks her for taking care of Mateo and screams that he loves his son and will be back prior to leaving.
Next stop is the Gutierrez household. Elsa, who is 100% Team Roberto, tells him that Alicia and Nacho left in an old car. They are heading to the church. He finds them easily and screams for her to hear him out. Everything is not as it seems. Alicia does not want to hear any more about his lies. She knows that Gumaro is not his brother nor is he sick. He tells her he has a son which Alicia writes off. They go back and forth with their bickering until Alicia tells the driver to drive off.
Turns out all the guests are waiting at the church and Roberto and Alicia are of course late, creating tension with certain individuals (Alex, Luciana, Don Augusto). Roberto arrives first pleading to speak with Luciana but he does not get the chance since Alicia pulls up which sends the reporters in a frenzy (to Luciana'S dismay). Next thing you know Roberto pops up next to Alicia for a last ditch efforts. She ends up slapping him in front of everyone and feigning that there was some bug(??) on his face. Whoops!
Lesson 6: It is normal to be apprehensive at your first wedding. If
you are married to your one true love...then you will have evil forces continuously
trying to separate you. Good Luck.
In the church it is time for them to accept their vows. Luciana is first and readily agrees. Roberto thinks about the lawyer and Venus constantly reminding him of the family structure he needs to provide Mateo in order to win custody. He eventually says yes. Next Alicia,questions if she can really do this. After some hesitation she also agrees to Elsa and Nacho's dismay. Finally we get to Alex who takes the longest to respond with the constant look of dredge etched unto his face. In the last few seconds we see Kenny run into the church to stop the wedding. Everyone is shocked...Alicia and Alex the most. Alicia ends telling us that they really did not have to make the decision when someone else was ready to do it for them.
Guess we have to wait until tomorrow to see how the rest of this wedding day plays out.

Wow what an episode....did not expect that ending. I initially thought it was Alex's imagination of what he would like to happen but now I am not so sure. I am so over Roberto and his wish washy ways....I love Alicia...I just want to forget about Alicia....no wait I love Alicia. Ugh!

I've worried about the scars Magos leaves on Ximena forgetting the permanent damage Roberto will leave on Mateo. Ximena has a stable home, grand parents that love and protect her and a role model in Alicia.
While Venus has Mateo's interest at the forefront and Roberto's fairy godmother, she should explore other options.
Makes me ill when Valiera acts the loving wife with Rafael in front of Augusto.
How much more can Alicia endure? Once all this shakes out and she's ready please allow her to be wooed by a nice man.

For me the highlight of the episode was Kenny. Carvivlie called it! This will be the game changer Alicia needs because she is too misguided to act in her own best interest. I hope Roberto's stupidity is not becoming contagious!
I felt sorry for Rafael that It "looked like" Luciana chose Augusto to walk her down the aisle.
Funny: Roberto "he of the cat reflexes" falling off Alicia's wedding car as Alicia had the driver speed up.
Tofie, I agree Venus should explore options beyond Roberto (and Marta) for Mateo. It was pathetic seeing Mateo medicated and asleep because of the asthma attack that was caused by his stupid father.

Perhaps it is just me, but Alicia looked hurt, but not devastated. I think Roberto has hurt her heart with many shards of glass and this may have been the deepest, but certainly not first cut.
My favorite scene was when Daphne had her head on Rafael's shoulder as he was lying in bed with Valeria on the other side. I know Valeria was wrong in cheating on her husband, but I still like her! I would take her any day over the prim, proper and unholier than thou Bea.

OMG OMG! I can't believe Kenny actually showed! I was so excited. Still wish he had been in his football uniform but his entrance was so dramatic!, the advances make it look like Alicia doesn't get married but bec Rob and Luci said I do's does that mean they are?
Poor Mateo is suffering bec his father doesn't know how to act or live normally and now is desperate so is acting worse. I'm not so hard on him bec he grew up in an orphanage and didn't learn the right life skills. Rob did feel trapped into marrying Luci after what Venus said. Granted all of his own making.

I know nothing has gone on between Valeria and Augusto recently but she has passed Luciana off as her husbands child and I don't think that's right. It was her husbands brother and the affair close enough to the birth it was easy to conceal. Augusto will love at some point using that to hurt Rafael.

Niecie- I'm sorry to tell you that, based on his heavily accented English when he said STOP in the name of love, Kenny's Spanish will sound like the fluent Spanish speaker the actor really is. Well, I guess he could fake a gringo accent when speaking Spanish, but he's got to work on getting rid of his latino accent when speaking English.

I have read all of the comments and am shocked at last nights ending. I am lost for thoughts and lost for words other than to say that I can't wait to see all of the turmoil tonight. It does look like the Alex-Alicia wedding is or now will be off and that the Luciana and Roberto wedding will be on. As I said, I can't wait.

Great recap. I'm three days behind but hope to catch up before Monday. Speaking as blog mom: please don't try to do this caption thing. If you look on the other tab (not the Compose tab but the HTML tab) you'll see an amazing amount of awful coding surrounding your captions. This is the kind of thing that has broken the blog several times in the past. PLEASE post using plain text so we can avoid breaking the blog! I know you didn't know so this is just a heads up. But as a learning experience, do go look at that HTML tab and see what this looks like!
Sorry I didnt know but thanks for the heads up. I tried removing the captions but there is still a lot of code surrounding the area. I will remember this next time to just not use that function at all.
