Yo No Creo en los Hombres #101 Thursday 12/3/15 Family Trees and Histories

Recap of many things, ending with Pyscho Guard catching MD square in the belly with her nightstick. MD goes down and passes out right next to a panicking Dan, who has suddenly realized that if MD loses the baby, all of his/Ursula's plans are over.

Doris reminds the somber Morales ladies and Bustamante boys that Julian thought of everyone he cared about. He wanted Leo to work with he and Adrian when their accounting firm was up an running. Leo promises to follow up about that. Espy, on the other hand, doesn’t want to go on with the sasteria(=tailor shop) because she doesn’t want anymore problems with Honoria. Max says he will look into the papers to see what regulations are in place; Honoria might not actually be able to keep them from using it.

MD writhes in pain. She’s now stuck in one of the solitary confinement cells with Corina and Nayeli. Nayeli insists that they have to get her some help, but Corina’s against it. Nayeli tells her to drop her beef with MD because now they know she didn’t really abandon Corina to her fate. Corina replies that she almost bought that story too…until she saw her happily visiting with Dan, the guy she was supposedly running from and the one that accused Corina of theft. Yeah, “happy’s” not the way Nayeli, or any logical adult, would describe MD and Dan’s interaction. And whatever the case may be on that, the fact remains that MD’s pregnant and could lose the baby. Nayeli continues to beat at the door for a guard to come help them.

Isela’s back at Josefa’s. Claudio  doesn’t like it and waits outside the door for them to talk. Isela tells Josefa that Alma asked Claudio to live up to his moral obligation to her and the baby.  At news of her pregnancy, Josefa flips the coffee table, but before she can reach Isela, Isela grabs a knife. Claudio, worried at the noise, bangs on the door outside.  Max comes to investigate.

The guards finally come to check on why Nayeli’s banging the door down. For all of her trouble, the guards refuse to help MD and Psycho Guard backhands Nayeli while she’s at it.

Isela informs Josefa that she won’t be her punching bag anymore, now that she’s pregnant. She threatens to tell everyone everything so Josefa goes to prison (Wait, what? What about Josefa hasn’t she told everyone?). She keeps the knifed trained on Josefa until she pops outside to tell Claudio and Max that she’s ok.

Gerry’s flown in the surrogate center’s liason or something to talk to Ivana. The lady lays it out: the clinic out of which she works is one of the few that doesn’t descriminate against couples of stuff like sexual orientation. Susan jumps in with the tough questions (“What if the surrogate takes off?" Etc) The surrogate liaison takes it all calmly, answers politely and gives a bunch of information about the mental and physical tests they put the surrogates through before signing them up.

Max and Claudio argue about his worry over Isela until Claudio tells Max about the baby. Max is shocked.

Josefa’s disappointed that her vengeance fell flat – Alma already knew! She blames Isela for the vengeance plot's failure because she fell for Claudio. Isela returns that they still destroyed the family. Now Alma and Claudio will live together, but separated, just like she and Josefa. Things will never be the same between any of them. Isela declares that she won’t return to the Bustamantes or Josefa; she’s going to get a job and take care of her child by herself. “You can’t do that to your mother!” Josefa wails.“You’re not my mother,” Isela returns coolly. “I’m not talking about me, idiot." Josefa sneers. "I’m talking about Marta!”

Max lays into Claudio for this newest twist. Claudio insists that his first responsibility is to Alma and she’s insisting that Claudio recognize and care for Isela's baby. “What?! Mom knows?!” Max is again shocked into silence.

Psycho Guard gives the warden a run down of the situation with MD. When she says that MD’s lawyer’s last name is Bustamante, the warden immediately switches gears "Claudio? Claudio Bustamante?" she asks. When the guard replies that she doesn't know, the warden snaps at her to find out! She also orders her to take MD to the nurse, though they both note that the nurse can't really do anything for her. The warden doesn’t want any more problems with Claudio Bustamante.

Josefa finally tells us some of Marta’s story: she was pregnant and tried to hide it from Josefa. When she couldn’t anymore, she made up a story about the father being a man in the neighborhood who raped her. Josefa rushed to file a complaint, but then Marta got nervous because she was lying and changed her story. This time she said the father was another minor, like her, a guy from school that was always courting her. Eventually, Josefa found out that Marta was making this all up out of fear because the actual father of her child, the man that was raping her, was her stepfather, Josefa’s husband.  “The man who slept in my bed. The man who changed her diapers, who saw her when she was a little girl. He…he…he was your father.” “Why are you telling me this?!" Isela wails, horrified. "What do you get out of telling me this?!” She has been pushed up to the door by the strength of Josefa’s presence and the growing pressure of this huge truth coming to light, but now she bursts out of the apartment, races past a worried Claudio and heads straight to the Morales house. Doris bars Claudio from entering after her because Leo and Clara are there. Josefa bellows for Isela few times before again collapsing into exhausted sobs.

Leo tries to  break through Clara’s melancholy, but all Clara wants is to see MD out of jail.

Guards come from MD. As they drag her off, Nayeli tries to get them to take her to the Abuela, because she's more effective than the nurse, but they ignore her. She warns MD not to take any of their pills.

Susan plants seeds of doubt in Ivana's mind. How can she ask a stranger to do this for her? How does she know the surrogates aren't just like her bitter, old aunt, huh? Gerry comes in to tell Ivana that the liaison leaves the next day and it would be lovely if they had a decision for her. Ivana brusquely orders him to send the liaison away; she won’t be rushed into a decision. They have a lot to figure out first, like what they’re going to tell their child about all of this.

Doris gives Isela the all-clear to leave since Claudio left and Josefa’s still in the apartment, but Espy holds her back. While she figures out where she’s going, Padre Juan pretty much made Espy responsible for Isela. Isela can’t go back to the Bustamantes because Alma knows about her affair with Claudio. Doris is shocked to hear that Ari broke the news, since he warned them about Josefa trying reveal that info at Max and MD’s wedding. No one gets why he would do that. Isela reveals that she’s having Claudio’s baby.

Meanwhile, MD’s nurse says that the baby’s heartbeat is normal. She lets MD use the stethoscope to listen for herself. Unfortunately they don’t have an ultrasound machine or even a full doctor at the prison to confirm the nurse’s diagnosis. They’ll just have to wait and see.

Gerry apologizes to Ivana for bringing in the liaison before he and Ivana had ironed out the details, but then gets to the real heart of the matter: Does Ivana actually want to have a kid with him?  Ivana doesn’t say no, but finally gets real about it. What will they tell this child about all of this? He’ll already be more Gerry’s child than hers because she won’t be his biological mother. In addition, she and Gerry are more like bother and sister than a couple because Gerry is gay. Gerry slumps in the couch as these points sink in.

Daniel comes bursting back into the house, and Ursula is immediately hot on his heels. He describes what happened at the prison and they worry about MD’s baby. They only have a second to think about it though, because Maleny comes in and puts a gun to Dan’s head! “Tell me who killed my father or I’ll blow his brains out!”

The guard gets an update about MD from the nurse, then kicks her out so she can talk to MD alone.  She holds her down and threatens MD openly, demanding that MD tell her lawyer that what happened was her own fault. If she points out the guard, she’ll have to watch her back day and night, not to mention worrying about what the guard could do to her pregnancy. She demands to know the name of her lawyer and MD reluctantly spits it out: Maximiliano Bustamante.

Ursula maintains that Maleny killed her father. She’s not taking Mal seriously; she always threatens with that gun, which doesn’t even have bullets. Oh no? Mal shoots at the ceiling and very definitely live ammo takes out a very real piece of plaster. A terrified Ursula and Dan now huddle together as Isidro and Jacinto come in to see what’s up. Maleny pulls Jacinto in and kicks Isidro out.

Max sees Alma , who tells him to ask his dad for help getting MD out.

Ursula and Mal are continuing their argument when Arango comes in. Mal shoots him in the leg! Now she’s really frantic, crying and saying she would’ve preferred jail to living with all the luxuries that never filled the emptiness inside her.  Everything might point to her,  but she knows  inside that she didn’t kill her father! "Who was it? Who was it?" Arango, bleeding on the ground, tells Ursula to tell her the truth already! “Die!” Ursela returns. She insists, quietly, but unceasingly that it was Maleny. She’s never wanted to accept it, but she killed her father.

Back in the punishment cell, Corina thinks Nayeli will have to give the warden sexual favors in return for MD’s nurse visit, but Nayeli says that she’s never done that, not even for the promise of more time with her kids.

Ursula doesn’t waver: Maleny killed her father. Mal and Dan stare at each other, tears pouring down their faces.  Maleny swings the gun to point it at Ursula’s head. “I believe you,” she says finally. She believes everything because she threatened Dan, which is the only person or thing Ursula loves, and the story didn’t change. She staggers back to the desk and sits. “I- I- I- I killed him,” she stutters. With the words, it’s as if everything inside of Maleny just deflates. All the fear and the fight in her suddenly switches to exhausted resignation. Dan watches her with an air of empathy we’ve only glimpsed in him before, tears still streaming down his face. “I don’t blame you for having taken everything from me,” Mal continues. “But at least I still have the privilege of taking into my own hands the only thing I have to thank you for.”

And with that, she picks up the gun, puts it to her head, and pulls the trigger.

Muchos Sluchos, Hellashelle!

I wonder where Arango was going with, "MALENY, SUELTA ESA PISTOLA!"

Gracias, Helleshelle. Please edit the title to put in the series title and episode number so there is no confusion in the future.

I am going to enjoy doing the aftermath of this one and I'm grateful for the extra time to do it. I'm going to a major double feature on Sunday.

The whole notion of Marta having been Isela's mother isn't anything new, but it doesn't seem to jive with the established story. This doesn't sound like it would have been an easy thing to conceal considering that Honoria already knew that Hosefa wasn't Isela's mother. How could have this been concealed? Did he leave, drag Marta with him, come back to dump off Isela? This sounds more like a situation where Hosefa should have thrown him out upon discovery. Also, if Honoria knew the real deal, why didn't she tell the rest of the story? That doesn't make sense.

It also doesn't jive with the way Hosefa has treated Isela and apparently worshipped Marta. But Hosefa is a sick b***h.

Maleny's suicide will have an interesting aftermath. I wonder whether Danny-Boy will rat out Mama Bear over it because I'm prepared to say -- based on how I saw this -- that her actions qualify as murder.

Hellashelle- You must have been exhausted when you completed this recap. So much crazy stuff happened. What a wonderful retelling of it all.

The reveal about Isela being the product of child sexual abuse suffered by Marta at the hands of her stepfather was shocking. Is it true? Did Jo just make it up to keep Isela (her granddaughter) tied to her while torturing her at the same time? Isela is going to have to investigate. A DNA test with Jo, perhaps. And Alma did say she would help her find her patents.

Meanwhile, looks like Clod may be able to do some good bringing that warden down, and helping MD at the same time as cracking the mystery of what really happened to Marta in jail. That would be a better use of his time, and might earn him back a tiny bit of respect from Max.

And the most shocking event of the night. Maleny. They just kept ramping up the tension and emotion in that room. I don't know what to think any more about who shot Hector. Ursula didn't waver from her story once- not even a bit. But Arango was yelling at her to tell Mal the truth. What is the truth?! Will we ever know, now that the only person who was looking for the truth is dead?

What a sad, empty existence Mal had.

Parents, not patents.

Thank you Hellashelle things jumped around and so much said I had a real hard time keeping up.

Goodness, though Maleny has become more frantic and suicide seems a logical ending to her tortured life this is another outcome I flat didn't contemplate. Ursula's face as she showed faux angst and shedding faux tears repeating her damn lie right to the end.

Claudio continues to use any convenient excuse to be near Isela. So what Alma told him to the skunk should be with his dying wife.

I already suspected Marta was Isela's mother but who and where is her father?

Hellashelle- You asked what Isela knows that could send her to prison. Isela knows for sure, what everyone suspects- that Jo was responsible for robbing Orlando's shop. And she knows something that no one even suspects-- that Jo was responsible to the attempted murder of Leo.

I actually anticipated that Maleny would do herself in because she faked it in the past, but I didn't think it would happen this soon. I thought it would take at least another ten episodes.

If there is anything real about Mama Bear's anguish it's about the aftermath. There are three eyewitnesses to this who could describe her flat affect as she drove Maleny to taking her own life. If Arango survives this he has tons of dirt on Ursula. If Ursula kills him in the next episode Danny-Boy could turn on her anytime before the end because probably only Arango and Mama Bear know the entire truth about Hector's death.

If she kills Jacinto that would not surprise me because she has to know that he likes to blackmail people.

She's not going to have a good time covering this up, either. I also wonder whether her anguish is about no longer having a punching bag.

Thanks for remembering about Leo, I totally forgot.

I'm trying to figure why is Nayeli so prominent in the story now, is there some connection or just my active imagination.

Claudio should already have offered his help to get MD out of jail. He's given advise to Max but he could get her out just as he did Dan and the man that stabbed his own son. Max shouldn't have to ask.

I think her anguish is over the near miss in covering for Dan, the mess Maleny has made and she has something more to clean up. I don't think she gave a damn about Maleny

Tofie- If Isela's father really is Marta's perv stepfather who sexually abused her, I dint think Isela or anyone else will give a damn where he is, except to hope he's dead or imprisoned somewhere.

Speaking of being imprisoned, Isela suggested to Jo that she might be doing her a favor by sending her to prison, because if she ends up in the same one as Marta, Jo might actually have a chance to find what happened to her and get her revenge. Thought I saw a flicker of an idea pass across Jo's face.

I still think Dan did it. Maybe he and Maleny struggled with the gun the same way he and MD did. Somehow I don't see this having a huge impact on Ursula. She has a cold cold heart. Great recap! Have no idea what I'm going to watch after this.....couldn't get into Pasion

It's my curiosity wanting to know who the sexually abusive stepfather is in relation to any others in our story or if there is any connection. This assumes Josefa told the truth.

I suspect whether Hosefa told the truth because of how it doesn't jive with Honoria's version. Honoria would have had no reason to lie about any of this.

As for Maleny and Danny-Boy struggling over the gun, the flashback does not indicate this. Meleny was standing in front of her father at the time of the gunshot and she saw his face as the bullet hit.

When did Isela find out that Hosefa was the one who tried to kill Leo? I don't remember that part. And now would be a great time to call the police and rat her out over this.

Of course as soon as this revelation comes to light the Moraleses should wash their hands of Isela.

Hellashelle- I think this is episode 101, unless our numbering got off track earlier in the week. Might be possible, with all the preemptions.

Urban- Honoria might be telling the truth as far as she knows. Josefa might have hidden Marta away for a time, and when the baby was born, Josefa told Honoria and Fermin (the only other of the current hood folks who were around back then) that her husband dumped his love child on her doorstep and took off. For all we know, Jo might have murdered him when she found out what he had done to Marta, and then just told everyone he ran off with his lover.

Isela found out it was Josefa who tried to kill Leo pretty much as soon as she did it. At the time, Josefa was really bothered that Leo was around the hood, and able to see/tell the truth of things Isela was lying about to Claudio. Josefa wanted him out of the way. Isela correctly guessed that Jo would have been the only one to try to hurt Leo and Jo admitted it to her, with no remorse. It also had the dual benefit to Jo of getting Leo out of the way for a long while, and getting Orly into financial and legal trouble, since he was responsible for Leo as his boss, and Orly was distracting Isela from her mission at the time.

Thank you all. Vivi, yes I was and am still exhausted - it's been a very emotionally and physically exhausting week for me. But I did go back and try to edit out some of my typos (even I was like "who the heck is Joseph?" for a second:) ). Also, thank you for reminding me about Josefa's other crimes; I had completely forgotten about Leo's "accident".

I thought that maybe Josefa and Isela (and Marta?) moved to the vecindad at some point after Isela was born and maybe Josefa shared with Honoria in a moment of pain. Honoria certainly came MD and Isela were there because they mention it in the flashback of the girls playing with Espy's veil.

Cookie - I also still think Dan did it. Looking forward to that flashback already, so we can finally see how it really went down.

Yes, I was also surprised Mal committed suicide now rather than closer to FIN.

Sorry, Vivi I was typing while you were posting. I edited the title (thank you to whoever added that info by the way. I was practically sleep walking when I posted.)

Hellashelle- Very possible. Josefa probably DID move to the hood soon after Isela was born, and in a moment of weakness admitted to Hon that Isela was not hers, but the child of her husband who had abandoned her and "another woman" (Marta). I could see her possibly admitting that to Hon, as Hon was suffering over the illness of baby Julian and Fermin abandoning her to drink and live in the streets.

Oy, Vivi, how could I have forgotten that?

In view of what she already knows and because of her own betrayal of MD, Isela deserves an anvil of her own. However, I want her to take Hosefa down before that happens. She has suffered the worst from a woman who now claims to be her grandmother and deserves the satisfaction of taking her down before taking her own punishment.

That sadistic prison guard probably isn't smart enough to realize that Max is Claudio's son, so MD will suffer more before she gets out.

Despite that Susanna is the occasional voice of reason, Ivana should have banished her from her life ages ago. Her attempt at dissuading Ivana from going to a surrogate is clearly a ploy to stay in her life and use her biological connexion to the hypothetical baby to ride roughshod over Ivana for the rest of her own life.

Too bad Gerry did turn out to be gay, but I'm annoyed that we can't figure out whether the writers intended that from Day One or not.

Great recap Hellashelle. Thank you for doing it.

I watch on Hulu and they always title each episode. This one is titled Trágica Muerte, and I figured that MD lost the baby. But when I saw Maleny with the gun, then I knew it was going to be her killing herself. I do believe that Ursula was lying and will lie to the very end to protect Dan. Now the only way we will know who did it is if Dan has a flashback, or we overhear Arango and Ursula talking about it.

How can MD be writhing in such pain and the baby be ok?

What is taking Ivana so long to make her statement?

I hope MD tells Max that Dan visited and what happened. Certainly after everything she won't hide this from him or does she justify it as protecting her child. Max wasn't responsible for the punch to the gut, Dan was but her silence would protect him and the abusive guard too.

I was confused when the guard came in and told the warden what happened. Dan was mentioned first but was there anything said that justified why Dan had access to MD after visiting hours over?

Tofie - Dan was mentioned as "some guy (named) Santibanez", but no, there was zero explanation of why he was allowed to visit after hours. However, he did mention bribery when asking his sleazey lawyer friend for help, so we can only assume that that worked. I really can't wrap my mind around the fact that he gets to visit as the father of her baby while the rape trial is pending. Messed up.

Although Gerry saw the logic in all of Ivana's questions about the "what ifs" of them raising a child together, and what they would tell this hypothetical future child, he wisely pointed out that she didn't have all these questions about what she would tell MD's child, back when she was planning to raise it. Although all the points Ivana and Susana brought up are valid and should be thought about, Susana simply doesn't want a child to compete for Ivana's time/affection/money, and certainly doesn't want Gerry to become more prominent and important in Ivana's life. She wants the two of them to dry up as two old, bitter spinsters together in that house, on Ivana's big pile of money. And Ivana jumping on all those seemingly valid questions, was simply a stalling tactic, because the only baby she REALLY wants is MD's baby. Let's see if she has a well thought out plan for how she would tell THAT child that they are the product of a rape-- "You see honey, Mommy's rat bastard husband actually had a fake wife too. And he raped her (and made you) after she found out he was a liar and dumped him. And then I divorced him. But then he killed you bio-mom's friend (which I witnesses) and we sent her to jail for the crime. Then we took you from her and her family, and then your daddy and his mama sold you to me."

I think, "Mommy and Daddy were best friends who wanted a child to love so much, that a nice lady (surrogate) helped us fulfill our dream, and you were born", would be a MUCH easier story to tell a kid.

Agree, especially since it has not been confirmed Daniel is the father. He may be but so far it is an assumption only. It was hateful as Dan taunted MD telling her she will beg him to see her and bring her child to visit.

Thanks Hellashelle, so they mentioned Santibanez but mentioned Bustamante, her lawyer, having visited first.

Corina and guess the guard and warden assumed Daniel her partner and Max only her attorney. Sounds like Dan can come anytime he wants if MD keeps quiet.

Golly Vivi if only you could talk to Ivana.

For MD to be scared into silence would be consistent with past behavior. Max will need to be very strong to convince her to tell what she will be afraid to tell. She will also need to convince Corina that she wasn't at fault for her arrest. Nayeli has been on her side about this but they need to team up against Danny-Boy's next assault.

If the warden knows that Max is Claudio's son MD might catch a break.

Yeah, knowing that MD's lawyer is the son of the great and powerful Claudio might be enough for the warden to tell the guards to lay off MD. The guard looks pretty stupid, but the warden does not. We know that Claudio had her investigated before back when Marta died.

Thanks, Hellashelle. I missed it last night. You got a helluva episode and crafted a vivid, detailed recap.

I kind of liked Maleny. She was a mess, a liar, and manipulator, but she had a wicked sense of humor (for example, her asking Ivana how Gerry was en la cama) and I did like her sleuthing what really happened with her dad. Too bad she couldn't stand up to Ursula's abuse.

Josefa's tale. If I’m remembering correctly a flashback of Isela with her sister, they weren’t that far apart in age. If Josefa’s story is true, it seems the sister was pregnant at age 12-13. Would Josefa not have pressed charges of child sexual abuse? On the other hand, Josefa's meanness to Isela could've come from her hatred of the rapist/husband. Maybe, like the prison Abuela cautioned MD, Isela resembles the rapist in looks or gestures.

Age 12-14 when Marta had Isela sounds about right. Marta was already an adult working in a bank when she was jailed and died, and Isela was a little girl. Josefa did say she was all set to press changes against the first adult man Marta named as the father. Then she changed her story to it being a boy her own age, before she told the truth that it was her stepdad. As I said before, I wouldn't be surprised if Jo killed the bastard herself, and then said he just ran off. He might have taken off once the truth came out, before Jo had a chance to press charges against him.

Not only does the warden need to know Max is MD's lawyer but her fiancee not Dandy Dan. That is giving Dan power over MD he need not have even as father to her child.

It is consistent with MD not to tell Max and if she doesn't what a shame.

I will miss Maleny too she was my favorite character.

Then obviously no one else would know, but Hosefa should have reported it anyway and gotten it on record.

Hellashelle--
O.M.G. That's all I have right now. Two BIG BOMBAS in the same episode. No sooner than I absorb Isela's Chinatown paternity than I get Maleny's final solution to her self-torture.

You did it with style and compassion. Gracias.

What an episode! Thanks for the recap!

To me, Ursula is responsible for Maleny's suicide. Maleny spent the last seconds of her life convinced her really did kill her father. Her blood is on Ursula's hands.

I'm wondering if Claudio knows how corrupt Marcia is and tried to investigate her previously. Maybe he's won a lot of cases against her or something.

I do think Josefa told Isela the truth. It is an unfortunate situation. Who knows what happened to Josefa's husband. If he died it makes me wonder if Josefa had anything to do with it.

When I started this, there were only two comments. Now I must go back and read all of them carefully. Oh, the other teeny cherry bomb dropped was that Gerry is gay, from Ivana's mouth to our ears. A big ho hum and what else is new.

since Hosefa has come within a hair of killing Isela more than once and she tried to kill Leo, it is very likely that she killed her husband. I wonder though, how could that be proven now short of a confession. This would have happened more than ten years ago and we all know how competent the DF police aren't.

UA--At this juncture, it probably doesn't matter one whit that Josie might have killed Isela's stepfather. Vivi's scenario works for the Honoria connection. What matters more are her more recent egregious criminal acts. She should get jail time, just for us to get some satisfaction seeing her under someone else's control, who isn't very nice.

I guess I'll rewatch the end of the episode tonight. I thought Maleny was sitting all by herself when she turned the gun on herself and gave her swan-song speech before pulling the trigger.

Ursula's guilty of Maleny's death, just as she was guilty of Hector's death. She was goading him into committing suicide (we all saw that). There was a gun there. She called him a coward. It had to be one of three people left alive--Arango, Ursula or Daniel who shot him. Can't wait to find out.

We've also talked about the probability of Ursula having killed Hector, then guilting Maleny with the deed, since she really didn't care about that child, in order to "clean up" the scene for police, doctors and attorneys.

She would never have killed Hector and blamed Daniel. For Maleny not to have done it and to have been blamed, either Ursula or Daniel would have had to have committed the deed. Arango was a likely witness to the deed. The rest came into the scene after the fact.

I'm content with either one actually pulling the trigger. I feel sorry for Daniel, if he was the one. He's been consumed by demons and a smothering, manipulative, evil mother all his life.

Anita- I'm sure we'll get a replay of Maleny's suicide scene on Monday, but no, she wasn't alone. There were four witnesses to her suicide-- Ursula, Dan, Jacinto, and Arango (who is bleeding out on the floor). Let's see what story those four come up with.

And Bravo to Sophie Alexander/ Maleny! She did an amazing job with this complicated role and the evolution (devolution) of her character. She's not an actress I see often, but when I do see her, she's always brilliant.

I looked into Sophie Alexander, impressed as I was, and she's done stage work and it shows. When this thing started I wondered where did they find this actor and with the bangs put off by her but boy was I wrong.

Tofie- I had already seen her in Para Volver a Amar and Montecristo, so I knew they had picked her for her acting chops. I remember how many of you were put off by her in the beginning.

Vivi--I didn't mean she was alone alone. I meant no one was near her or trying to get the gun out of her hands at the last minute, when she gave her pitiful little speech.

Ah, got it Anita. Nope. None of the four moved to take the gun from her when she sat down and started her defeat speech.

I felt they knew what Maleny may do and didn't want to stop her

There shouldn't be any trouble to tell authorities what happened. Maleny threatened to kill herself, Arango tried to stop her, and she shot him first then herself.

So no show tonight, correct?

Correct.

Hellashelle, thanks for this recap, that was a
Maybe difficult one to recap.
I didn't like maleny but I certainly didn't want
Her to off herself, especially when the reason
Maybe a lie. Until I hear different, I don't believe she killed her dad. That woman that calls herself a mother is a compulsive liar. And this sick obsession she has with danny.
To literally push her daughter to suicide is just beyond reprehensible. And the heffa will
Carry on with her plan to steal md's baby. I
Really want to see the web of lies they'll spend to cover this up. Just sad. Ursula will
Probably die a horrible death at the end of this drama. As she should.

Ivana don't want a stranger to carry her baby
So thats her excuse for buying md's baby.
Shes worried about the child turning out like
Her aunt. Really?
What If he turns out to be like dear ol dad?
Shes really full of it.

Honoria will probably try to fight julians will.
Shes just that angry and mean enough. She and josefa Should be best buds now, they both want to Avenge their children. What a mess!!! I get a Brake from this horror show over the long cold wet weekend.
As cold as this weather is, the snow is more
Warmer than Ursula. Really, the woman Is the Walkin dead. Is arango growin a conscious? He told ursey to tell mal the truth.
Of course that doesn't mean he has a conscience. Stay tuned.

Wonderful recap! So full of detail & wow what an episode. I'm going to miss Maleny..despite her machinations, she was like Isela, abused and unloved by her mother. That had to be a terrible thing to feel daily. It's no wonder she sought love in all the wrong places. She died knowing that her death wouldn't matter to anyone..least of all her own mother who told her so often she was unwanted. Not one person begged her to stop, or uttered an "I love you". I literally shed tears.

Sophie Alexander was riveting as Maleny. A complete scene stealer even when the scenes weren't focused on her. The nervous awkward body language, so beautifully portrayed the broken tortured soul. BRAVA!

I guess I was the only one not surprised Gerry was gay? I never saw anything that indicated he was into Ivana in a sexual or romantic way. I'm just sorry he wasted most of his energy on Ivana's 24/7 pity party. I would have loved to see him have a relationship with someone who would have truly appreciated him. His friendship with Ivana was great, but I always felt it more one sided with him constantly giving to her.

I still get the feeling Josefa isn't telling the complete truth about Isela's paternity. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I just hope Isela's baby isn't the next target by Josefa. The woman is evil.

I don't understand MD's cramping...yet her baby is ok? Why is there no doctor in the prison?

This is going to be a long weekend.

I have five movies between today and tomorrow so I'm glad to get the break in a way. The next installment of this will post on time. Has the finale date been announced yet?

I certainly hope they will announce the finale date soon, because there is no joy in this nightmare In telenova land. Nobody is happy in this show except for the bad guys and they don't count as far as bringing joy and happiness is concerned, one of them has already offed herself. See, no joy. Does it sound like I'm complaining? yes!!! The good guys just can't get a break. Maybe this coming week will bring some victory for the good guys. And this is a season of hope, Im hopin for a Victory. I'll enjoy the christmas
Movies in the meantime.
As for md's cramping, she was hit with a big
Black stick accross the stomach, it seems she should have miscarried, she should have miscarried a few episodes back but this is TV so some of this stuff isn't reality some of it is,
her not miscarrying after all the stuff she has been through while she's pregnant, that's not reality.

Nina- Remember that week when not much happened and everyone celebrated Christmas and New Year's? That was the last bit of happy you'll see for the good guys until the very end. That's an educated guess. Hope you enjoyed those episode. Just keep on hanging on to those warm memories and feelings...

There are 20 episodes left, meaning there are 4 weeks left.

Actually MD NOT losing the baby is very atypical of tns, where usually the slightest bit of stress causes a woman to miscarry or nearly miscarry (see the last episode of Pasion y Poder).

If there are preemptions because of Christmas Eve/Christmas, and New Year's Eve/New Year's, and they split the 2 hour finale over two days, then this tn could end at the end of the first week of January, or even the following Monday, since Uni is so fond of Monday finales these days.

I don't want this to end but when it does I don't see how MD ever gets over the hell Dan has rained down on her. Ursula has her agenda but Dan was playing with her from the start. His mommy didn't make him drug MD and try to have his way with her in the guest house. I wished we knew how and when they met and why she was so taken with him. Her life must have been going well enough and all that was missing for her was a husband and family.

Tofie, after everything that has happened since the very beginning, it's easy to forget how everyone appeared back then. Dan was charming and charismatic, MD thought he was a chauffeur for a rich family.

cathyx--You are so right. Back then we only thought Josefa was crazy. Ursula was just a mean mom, in a hurry to marry off her kids to a couple of rich patsies to save her family from rack and ruin.

Things started going wrong when Ursula couldn't get Dan interested in Ivana without some blackmail scheme and was furious when she found out he was consorting with a penniless girl from a poor neighborhood.

Tofie--it could very well be that Dan started going off the rails when he WASN'T able to have his way with MD at the guest house. All the time before the story started, he'd been the gentleman, biding his time. It was after that, that he started scheming and obsessing over MD and planned the fake wedding. He was going to have her one way or the other. Mama stepped in and ruined it all. It's possible Dan never had any intention of marrying her the first time around, but when he agreed to a church wedding, I think he either wanted MD for real, or it was to spite Ursula.

I'm hoping that the gunshot and Maleny killing herself will trigger memories in Dan that have been repressed. That he remembers that it was in fact, Dan, who killed their father, which will make him realize what a heinous person his mother truly is.

Crazy idea but......maybe the whack with the stick was a good thing. MD slept with Dan thought she was pregnant but wasn't....slept with Max then raped by Dan. Are we 100% sure Max isn't the father? Maybe now she will get an sonogram and find out how far along she is and realize it's Max's. Grasping for something positive here lol

Cookie, we all are, lol. But I feel confident that we will not be completely displeased with the outcome. (I know that sounds like weak sauce, but with this show, we never know.)

When Danny-Boy was trying to boink MD in the early episodes while dodging meeting her parents that was already a red flag. He might have continued to pursue MD to spite his Mama Bear, but it became full-blown obsession. Not to mention that he is BSC, although it is usually less obvious than Maleny's was.

What is BSC? And you're right, we're all graspin, but the rope got grease on it....sheesh. I hope they have a happy new year cuz This one is shot to hell.

BSC = Bat S**t Crazy.

Ok, that describes them perfectly.

Why doesn't Maria Dolores get a restraining order against Daniel? He seems to come and go at will and comes to see her whenever he wishes.

GoBlueFan- She did have a restraining order against him after the rape. Don't think whoever Dan bribed to get into the jail cares.

Part of the reason Dan was arrested, was not because of the rape but because 1) he kept ignoring the summons to go make his statement, and 2) he violated the restraining order against him by going to MD's house after he fled the cops.

There's really only one way out for the Santibanez Gang: death. None of the Vecindad Posse, the Duval Crew or the Bustamante Squad will ever have any peace or safety until Ursula & Daniel are dead.

It's the beginning of the end for them. Someone in that room is going to start cracking up because of witnessing Maleny blowing her brains out in front of them. And by someone, I mean Dannyboy.

Ivana better jump off the Santibanez Ship instead of thinking she can game them or she will be going down right along with them.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the Santibanez clan would end up destroying itself from within.

Arango will probably end up disabled for some reasonable period of time if he doesn't lose that leg altogether. If Jacinto has any sense he'll run and get out of town, but I doubt it. I also hope he doesn't because he has several anvils waiting in the wings.

Too late posting to get answers but I'm more confused than ever...........

1. Since Arango told Ursula to 'just tell her the truth', means to me, at least, that Maleny didn't kill her father ??? Ursula knew that Maleny wouldn't have the guts to pull the trigger on anyone but herself, so she just kept goading her on until she got the end result she wanted--Maleny out of the way ?????

2. Which one is the truth ??? Is Isela the daughter of Marta (thus the grandaughter of Josefa), or the cast off from her father (Josefa's Partner) and his lover, or did Partner sexually abuse Marta resulting in Isela????

We should take votes IMHO. :::

A. Who is the daddy of MD's baby - Daniel or Max ???

B. What's up with Isela and how did she come about. ???

C. Who really killed Hector ???

D. Who killed Marta. / How did she die ???

Rats, tonight's exciting episode will be recapped by Urban (you go girl!!) and posted immediately after, Hulu will upload it hours/days later?

No te preocupes, Victoria; it will post on time. I don't know how soon Hulu posts anything, but can you get to Uvideos? They might have this up just before it airs tonight.

As to your question about Isela's mother's identity, we don't know if Hosefa is telling the truth. She mixes in just enough truth with her lies that we will wonder about this until it is proven. Isela should demand a DNA test to see if she shares any DNA with Hosefa. That will show if this is the case.

Urban thanks, I'll check Uvideos. It takes Hulu at least 10 hours Monday through Wednesday to upload and them usually Thursday and Friday are up on Sunday.

Thanks for answering my questions. I'll post the voting question after watching tonight's episode to see if we should take votes as we did with LQLVMR and MCET.
