Yo No Creo En Los Hombres, Capitulo 105 Thurs 12/10/15: There's no sweet end, only the bitter aftertaste

Even after all he’s Done, MD would forgive Daniel (she is Esperanza’s daughter, after all), but then he’d never learn. Looks like she’s already preparing to change the dynamic; Daniel Junior won’t get Ursula remixed in wide-eyed MD. Daniel argues that the thing with Julian was an accident. He would have never tried to hurt her, he didn’t want Julian to die; he was just trying to get the gun away from her. If they stick with that, she’ll get out quickly and they can’t accuse Dan of anything (um…hold up on that second part). No dice with MD; Dan pushed her to the brink, drove her to a point where she felt she had to use a gun. Dan’s lawyer jumps in here to say it’ll take months to prove that, months in which she’ll stay in prison. And for what? Julian’s already dead-CRACK! MD slaps him across the face and yells at him and Dan will pay for everything he’s done to her before stomping off. In response Dan swears she’ll be sorry if she does anything rash.

Fermin’s trying to tidy Julian’s room in one of the rare moments Honoria’s not lying on his bed. She returns to her post and snatches everything away from Fermin. Fermin wants Jenny to come stay with them, but Honoria wants all of her son’s things to stay the way he left them!  She gathers his things up, pauses and then whirls out of the apartment.

Ursula witnessed the end of Dan’s conversation. Dan swears vengeance against everyone who’s done him wrong, including her. Dan actually talks sense for a second, saying that none of this was necessary: Hector was dead and Usrula had his fortune, so she just forced him away from MD for greater greed. Ursula meets his aggression with love…her twisted, pleading, crazy-lady love. She did this all for him! Because Hector was going to cut him out of the will and leave everything to Maleny, his favorite. (Well, since Dan and Mal were maybe nine years old and Hector apparently thought they were broke, this just seems like straight up lies and really, aren’t we passed the dumb lies, Ursula?) “Now, it’s just you and me, as it should be. Don’t make Hector and Maleny’s deaths not be worth it.” (That “as it should be” haunts me.)

Clara returns Leo’s ring. He wasn’t going to raise a fuss about it because he doesn’t want his mom upset, but he does want her to know that he gave it to her with pure intentions but she accepted it knowing what she did about his family and not telling him. She doesn’t argue, just nods and turns to leave. He calls her back and for a second she lights up, thinking there’s hope…but he just wants to settle the cupcake business. She tells him he can have her portion, but he declines. They both look back as they leave, but they both leave in the end.

Honoria goes to Esperanza’s for Julian’s wheelchair. Fermin gave it to the church so it could help someone else. Honoria accuses them of thinking that if they give his things away, she’ll forget him. Well, what she won’t forget is that his meeting MD was the biggest tragedy of his life. Esperanza wearily tries to defend MD again: MD loved him, he was like a brother to her…honestly, even I’m tired of hearing it. Espy knows Hon’s speaking straight from her pain. Hon tells her she’ll do the same when MD’s stuck in prison for life, which is where she should have been since she stole. (Well, good to know Hon’s so firmly committed to her revisionist history.) She storms off with a hissed “Get out of my way! Shut up!” to Fermin. Josefa watches from her usual post with a kind of flat satisfaction.

Ivana tells Susana that she plans to marry Gerry. Susana laughs heartily. Ivana’s great with the business, but her personal life is a mess! We learn that she and Dan aren’t actually officially divorced yet; she and Gerry would wait until those proceedings were over to move forward with their own marriage and the rest of the world can take its opinions about the matter and shove ‘em. Susana reminds her that this decision will affect the company as well, which is the only thing that’s not screwed up yet.

Honoria takes the wheelchair back from the church. She doesn’t pause long enough for the priest to finish saying that the church will always be open to her when she’s ready to come back to God. Josefa slinks out of the shadows to add more poison to the mix. They’ll take MD’s child away from her and leave her empty, just like…she stops abruptly and she and Hon feel the weight of Julian’s absence in the empty wheelchair. Hon walks away without saying anything, but pauses and almost gives in to the tears.

Ursula tells Dan to wait before running off to do foolishness. Jacinto’s gathering important information and he should at least hear it before doing whatever he’s going to do.

Ari stops a happy Orlando and Doris. He basically apologizes for being a jerk, especially to Doris. He’d change things if he had the slightest chance and he’s sorry that he hurt her, Alma and Maleny. He tells them about her suicide.

The warden and her henchguard are waiting for MD when she gets to the Abuela’s cell. They want her to spill everything. She tells them about Dan’s offer, but doesn’t confirm that the Abuela is forcing her to work in her cell. This earns her points with the Abuela, who thinks she’s got los calzones bien fajados. But she agrees with the warden and henchguard (and most of the Patio a lot of time): MD is stupid. Anyone else would’ve taken Dan’s deal. MD asks is she would have forgiven and helped her rapist.

Ari tells Doris and Orlando the truth about Hector’s death and Maleny’s subsequent torment. He’s willing to testify about it for MD, but right now he’s going to Acapulco. He’ll be a beach fitness instructor and, who knows, maybe he’ll find a rich white lady to be his Sugar Mama. Doris hopes she comes with a size large bikini, but Ari now knows he needs to look for a size large heart first. They all hug it out.

MD scrubs Abuela’s toilet and questions why Abuela’s more concerned with preventing rape babies than dealing with the rapists themselves. Abuela says she’ll never forgive her rapist and she applauds her decision to not work with Dan.

Dan’s trying to get high, but Ursula drags him away to get Jacinto’s report. Apparently, Jacinto and some other lawyer/helper person tracked down a Marcelo Monterrubio. He was the head of the bank where Marta worked. He hit on Marta, who ignored him, so he accused her of theft. Claudio was his lawyer.

Max goes to see Honoria. She’s gotten a lawyer and, as Julian’s sole heir, has the right to all of the profits generated by MD and Doris’s business. Max reminds her that Julian went into that business in good faith, to help MD. Hon reminds him that that decision, just like all the rest that involved MD, got Julian nowhere. It might be a legal battle neither side needs, but as far as Hon can see, MD’s the one with more to lose. Max leaves. Fermin tries to show Hon all the pain she’s causing, but Hon maintains that she’s already experienced the worst - losing her son – and now MD should feel the same. After Fermin leaves, we see hopelessness cross her face – this fight doesn't stop the pain.

Max tells Espy and Doris about Honoria’s decision. There’s no real way to fight the situation; Honoria’s acting within her rights, if not in good faith. Though MD’s lost her rights to fight for the business because she’s in jail, Espy still leaves any decisions about the business up to her.

Ursula’s new dream team still needs proof that Monterrubio did what he did, so they’re hoping to find witnesses from Marta’s time to corroborate Josefa’s story. Dan thinks Max will have MD out before then and the heat’s still too high for him to ask his prison buddies to put another hit out on Max’s head. Ursula tells him that he’s only heard half the plan: the prison director can be blackmailed because she was involved with Marta’s murder. Jacinto thinks they should pressure the prison director now. Ursula agrees. Dan…dives for his drugs. Ursula and Jacinto physically restrain him. He’s got to get it together! A judge could be convinced that accused murderer MD isn’t fit to raise her child, but that doesn’t mean that judge will turn the baby over to a drug addict who’s had two suicides in his family!

Clara comes home from school and tries to start decorating her cupcakes, but she can’t control her pain. Isela comes out of the bedroom and asks if she’s ok. It’s a dumb question and Clara lets her know it. In fact, Clara lets her know everything: that she doesn’t buy Isela’s “poor me” argument. That she’s pissed that everyone keeps putting their hands out to help Isela when Isela has been wreaking with everyone’s lives for months. That it’s not fair that she gets away with all of this when good women like Clara and her sister get screwed over trying to be kind. Isela admits Clara’s right and tells her she’s leaving the house. Orlando worked it out with Ari’s landlord so that she can take over his apartment. Orlando comes over just then to give her the keys and they both leave. Clara remains with her cupcakes. She’s gotten a lot off her chest, but in the end it still hasn’t fixed the pain.

Abuela heads to the Warden’s office. It’s like a twisted red carpet walk. Henchguard acts as security detail as inmates flock her, begging for drugs, assistance, whatever the way fangirls beg for autographs. In the office, Abuela lets the Warden know that she’s not blind: Dan got in to see MD after hours, and, as her rapist, was probably not on her list of visitors. His lawyer did the same, so no need for the warden to pretend she doesn’t know who he is when it’s obvious she does. Fair enough. The warden just wanted Abuela to know that Claudio Bustamante has asked that MD be kept the prison for a good long while, so there’s no need for them to give her any special favors or protections. Lovely.

Doris, Espy and Max visit MD. They meet Nayeli and Corina and invite them to eat together.

Orlando leaves Isela in Ari’s apartment as Claudio comes to visit. He tells her he’s moved into a hotel. Alma’s asked for a divorce. Claudio insists he’s going to take care of his responsibilities regarding both Alma and Isela, as well as the new baby. Isela demands to know if he’s going to publically recognize the child as his own.

Great retelling Hellashelle, thank you

"her twisted, pleading, crazy-lady love"

"he was like a brother to her…honestly, even I’m tired of hearing it"

"It’s like a twisted red carpet walk"

Thank you Clara, though no one believes you about Isela you got it partly wrong. MD is not in your league

Wow, I'm pleased MD didn't make a deal with Dan but wonder if the result would be the same had he made his pitch in person

This is weird to me. Max doesn't even call his client nor she him for days. Perhaps MD should get another attorney since she will not tell the one she has Dan has unfettered access.

So Jacinto in one day finds out the owner of the bank Marta worked for is a buddy of Claudio's. Hey MD hire the guy Jacinto found for Usurla

I wish Susana would shut up I started to see crazy Ivana in them eyes and that's all MD needs.

Gracias, Hellashelle. I had a little difficulty following some of the dialogue in this episode.

When is anyone going to go to the police about Danny-Boy having killed his father? I realize that the revelation was yesterday relative to the characters, but nobody should let this sit for any length of time. He needs to be taken out of action NOW and his egg donor along with him.

What is Nayeli in for? I don't remember.

I can't believe there are only 17 episodes left and so much to still resolve.

Obviously Danny-Boy's lawyer knows nothing about him having killed his father and it's more than time for MD to tell Max what's been going on.

Nayeli took the rap for her kids father who received stolen goods. When she agreed to cover for him she didn't realize the consequences

Now THAT is disgusting. At least her only crime was foolishness.

Great recap, Hellashelle! I knew MD wouldn't accept Dan's deal. She's been done with him a long time, and no Tofie, I don't think him being there in person would have changed her mind. It just would have resulted in him getting slapped instead of Victor.

Let's hope during this visit with Max she tells him all that's happened in the past two days.

It pisses me off that what Clod did will put a bigger target on MD's back. Ugh!

Susana is both good at turning up Ivana's crazy or calming it down (like when Ivana was going to allow Max's murder). I noticed her calling MD's baby Ivana's baby, while she discouraged her from forming a family with Gerry. I notice Ivana still hasn't gone down to make her police statement. MD's baby is still an option in her mind, obviously.

Glad Ari shared all he knew and made peace with Doris and Orly before leaving. Hope he finds his lovely, curvy, rich Gringa. :)

I am starting to believe that Susanna is looking to gaslight Ivana just as Ursula gaslit Maleny. Since they have no other relatives who gets Vera Duval Designs if Ivana dies?

She does have a point about how things would look if Ivana married Gerry. If he is known in the design community to be gay, they could look like beards for each other and that could lead people to think Ivana is a lesbian. I don't know how that is viewed in Mexico but lesbians aren't getting a good rep in this story.

Now, based on what Jacinto seems to have found out, it's obvious that some evidence could have been suppressed during the investigation into the alleged theft. Was the bank manager a friend, acquaintance, or client of Claudio's? If not, did he have a really clever lawyer? Was that Arango or the sleazeball that now represents Danny-Boy?

Tofie, I don't think Max can call MD. Even if he could, I'm sure the warden could figure out a way to prevent her getting the call.

BTW, I find it ironic that prisoners have to call out when they can't afford it while their families and lawyers can't call in. Must be because it upsets the routine.

My point is that Max seems no more anxious to be in contact with MD as she is him. He is a Bustamante so why doesn't he use the name? It said it all as the warden and grandma spoke that Dan could come and go as if it were his own home. Attorney Max is clueless and I don't lay all the blame on MD.

Tofie- Dan is willing and eager to bribe and blackmail. Max is not. He's also not willing to trade on his father's name, especially not right now when he hates him. But like MD before him, he needs to wake up and learn that everyone around him (including his father) is playing dirty and stacking the decks against him and MD.

I thought MD did a good job winning points with La Abuela last night and actually making her think about her own hypocrisy, when she pointed out that La Abuela is so eager to harm and condemn the children of rapists, but is willing to give those rapists, like Dan, a free pass and make deals with them.

What Max needs to be spending his time doing is keeping the pressure on Ivana to make her statement-- drive her down to the damn police station if he has to and hover over her shoulder. He hasn't learned by now that Ivana is not a reliable ally. She's their ONLY witness. Time to put her to good use.

Hi guys. I've been totally out of the conversation loop for the past couple of weeks and I'll probably only be able to pop in for the rest of the show.

1) Clara - I'm with her on this. She's totally right. If MD had taken her advice from the beginning, half of the crazy could have been avoided. The best way, though, might have been to give other people - like Alma and/or Max - a heads up about it so they could break the news to him in the least painful way possible.

2) Leo - His reaction seemed reasonable enough to me. I do hope that he cuts Clara some slack though. Yes, she should have told him. She wanted to and didn't, but he should also realize that there were a lot of other factors in place like Claudio and Isela denying it, plausibility, proof, whether or not that potential problem was the priority right then, plus the fact that she did in fact tell him eventually. I mean, geez, give the girl some time to think!

3) So is the Abuela directly tied to any family, or did she go after Marta because of another rape issue?

4) Back to Clara's rant: In addition to YES!!!! is there actually a possibility that Isela and Claudio just live happily ever after?! Really?! After all this?! Wow.

5) Also I wasn't expecting Orlando's background either. Wow.

Thanks, Hellashelle. Terrific recap. My favorite lines: her twisted, pleading, crazy-lady love and After Fermin leaves, we see hopelessness cross her face – this fight doesn't stop the pain.

After Isela tells Clara she’s leaving, Isela actually just stands there with that hangdog victim thing she does, waiting for Clara to say something sweet and kind like “don’t go, poor pitiful you.” But, yay!, Clara didn’t take her sad and angry eyes off her cupcakes, which to me said “Don't let the door hit you on the way out!” You go, Clara!

Ivana has the money and prestige to adopt without marriage. Surely, there's an amante in the future for both she and Gerry. They should be able to figure out adopting without marrying each other.

I like how Ari operates – apologize and go to Acapulco. Why hang around that sad and depressing hood.

Interesting to see if MD can get Abuela to change. MD was right, Abuela should be busting rapists, rather than doing unwanted abortions.

Thank you Hellashelle, I'm sorry that you can't comment more, I like your analyses.

What is Claudio's reason for wanting to keep MD in jail longer? I can't see any reason for it. And speaking of Claudio, he is in deeper in the Marta mess that we previously knew. Now we find out that he was the banker's lawyer, and the judge on the case too? How is that even possible? Conflict of interest anyone?

I applaud Clara too. Good for her to tell it like it is. Leo needs to do some deep thinking about Clara's role in all this. But that probably won't come with some more maturity.

Vivi, yes, what is wrong with Max not putting pressure on Ivana to make her statement? What is he waiting for?

Agree Vivi and Niecie. Along with Clara's I ain't falling for your pity routine speech to Isela that well timed point MD made were highlights of the night for me. MD gained some credibility in my book in how she is handling Abuela. It's a shame because after all MD has suffered she is now astute enough to see a crack and willing to exploit it but before could not see the scum trail Dan left behind him.

Isela was making those faux innocent big doe eyes at Orlando too, when he dropped her off in Ari's apartment. It was almost like she was waiting for him to make a declaration of love. But he was just like, ok, you're settled, call me if anything needs fixing, oh, here's your baby-daddy, see ya.

Orlando and Doris should have talked Ari into testifying since he was in the columbarium and heard the whole thing about Danny-Boy being his father's murderer. That would force Ivana into telling the right people that she was the one who yelled "J'accuse!" Max could also be a witness.

Of course, we would also need to worry now whether Claudio would deny it all and reset this back to Zero.

uh yeah. Isela I think believes she could have Orlando back in a flash but I kinda get why she thinks that. He's going way out of his way to help her even after everything she and her sugardaddy have done to him, I don't understand.

Yeah it's very true to life. Orlando's trying to be a stand up guy and help someone out who clearly doesn't have their life together. He's making a special effort to be selfless, but it's odd to see when so many people have ulterior motives.

It's in character for Orlando, but considering how Isela burned him earlier I am surprised as I type this. When MD finds out about her betrayal I'd like her to tell Isela to take a long walk off a short pier.

Hellashelle--Before it gets any later, thank you for the recap and glad to see one of your Clara-fying comments. Clara has been the single character who has remained most grounded. She doesn't waffle, she's not moody or self-pitying. She meets her challenges with fortitude. In these last scenes, her torment was very real and finally the dam broke.

Good recap. Thank you hellashelle. The episode was as always, miserable. The actors are good. I'll be glad when its over. Ok. Bye.
