Yo No Creo EnLos Hombres #99 Tue 12/1/15 -- Life Catches Up To Claudio And Alma Stops Playing The Fool

[Briefly as possible, there are only a few highlights in this miserably overlong episodio.  --ed.]
  • Josefa the angry Jefa knows she is in trouble this time cuz she just bashed Isela's head on the terrazzo floor, and Ise is lying there totally unconscious and bleeding.  She raced out to get help from the barrio version of Dumb and Dumber, screaming for a taxi.  (I guess ambulances are a luxury.)   Of course,  Max and Leo, who've just come for Esperanza and Clara in hopes they'd stay a while at mom and pop's palace while the Honoria Horror Show of Hate dies down, helps out the Heffer.  Ho-sey lies (natch) about how Ise ended up unconscious and bloody on her floor.  "--duh-h, she just suddenly passed out and dropped and hit her head."

  • Claudio, who found Alma in pain in the bathroom and nearly passed out from that, takes her to the hospital.  She's quickly now becoming a pain herself, getting up and out of bed, schlepping her hanging bags and tubes all around, and thus sneaking up behind Clod in every whispered conversation, getting in the old hubby's face everywhere he turns.  She, in this way, manages to overhear the phone call that Leo makes explaining they've found Ise bashed and bloody and wanting to know which hospital is best to bring her to.  Clod naturally suggests the one he's at now, and then explains Mom's there taking up a bed also.
  • Honoria cries her eyes out in Julian's old bedroom.  Fermin  has a quick cry also.  Then The Old Farts of AA, aka, friends of Fermin and Jenny, come by to commiserate with him.  They gossip about Jenny's having fallen off the wagon, and that she's done it many times.  Ferm thinks maybe he should go and try to help her back on it like she did many times with him.

  • More community commiserating goes on at Doris'  and (now) Orlando's  apartment.  Speaking of Jenny, she refused Doris' attempt to give her the valuable fake engagement ring Julian pretended to offer Maria Dolores.  (Atta girl, Jenny.  At least there's some shred of dignity left in you deep--very deep--down.  Tacky--very tacky-- of whomever it was (Fermin?) to think to have Doris offer that ring to her!)

  • Ise's brought to the same hospital as Alma.  When Ise finally regains consciousness, Clod races down to question her about what happened.  Ise angrily refuses to give him any explanation.  Clod senses that it was Brut Ho de Josefa the Heffer more than likely, knocking her around.  He threatens Hosey and tells her his suspicions.  If he finds out she beat up on Ise he's going to make sure they put her in jail and throw away the key.  Hosey spits more of her accusatory venom.  Ho-hum.

  • The Abuela at the jail tells MD that she and her daughter were both raped and that neither of them had the opportunity to get an abortion afterward. She asks MD why keep the kid now, since he'll probably remind her daily for the rest of her life of the guy who raped her, maybe with his gestures or his looks.  MD justifies her choice again by stating the obvious: it isn't the kid's fault.  Ok, but Abuela cannot stand how her grandson is the spittin' image of the rapist who attacked her. (I think...  It was after midnight when I watched this one. --Anyway, Granny has a point when it comes to birthing another snivelling, sly, scheming, and oh-so-slovenly Slim Shady de Santibañez.)

  • Max and Espy pay a visit to MD in jail.  She is embarrassed about the BO but she has had to be in those clothes a long time without bathing or soap,,,, Oh, that's ok.  Doris packed MarDi a beauty bag for her, and Max has now brought a wad of cash so MD can buy her necessities.  (Viewerville's got to admit that Mexican jails, as crappy as they are and despite the e-vile guards and wardens, have the right idea: they are supposed to be penal institutions, not fairytale foster homes with bars on the doors; they should be designed to make people think again before committing crimes or stooooooopidly leaving a loaded gun you don't even know how to shoot lying around the house and playing The Fair-warning Footsie with your rapist ex rather than firing at least a warning --if not a wounding--shot at him.  She is just too dumb for me to even care that she's got to sleep with the cockroaches in the bathroom every night.  I'm just sayin'.,,,.)

  • Clod, meanwhile, is advised as Ise's male guardian (?) that she's preggers and that the fall and resultant bout of unconsciousness, nearly cost her the baby.  (Viewerville personally thinks Clod stopped listening after the word "pregnant.")  He turns around to find Alma has heard all of this as well.  She says sweetly, "It must be Orlando's, right?  I mean he did rape her, right?"  Then, before Clod can think of a decent lie he can answer her with, Alma hauls off and slaps him upside the head.  Whack!!!!  (Ok.  This was the only moment I truly felt it worth the time spent watching this episodio.)  She then races back (we assume) to whatever bed in the hospital she snuck out of before Clod knows what hit him--literally.

Thank you Jardinera. I kind of feel like we're watching different TNs, lol. I thought that there was a lot of setup in this one for the future, so I do agree that this one wasn't such a clincher as we've gotten used to, but there was some revealing that was flooring.

Isela is pregnant! I didn't see that one coming. I guess Claudio and Isela aren't going to say goodbye after all.
I'm glad Alma finally hauled off and slapped Claudio.
Ok, so Abuela may not be the loving grandma that I pictured, but it doesn't sound like baby selling either.

Gracias, Jardinera.

You did hear correctly; Abuela did say this about her grandson and I think that this woman made a very valuable point. No rape victim should be punished further by having to stare into the face of her rapist in the child. For this reason also I don't think any woman should ever bear the child of a man she hates.

I was wondering whether Alma would be able to hold out on giving Claudio what for, and here is the answer. I guess knocking Isela up was the last straw for her.

Great recap Jardinera, thank you.

"Tacky--very tacky-- of whomever it was"

Now that's my girl Alma

Don't know why but I was dumbstruck to hear Isela is pregnant.

So, Corina is in solitary for attacking MD and MD gave the meal the Abuela provided to her. MD did try to explain why Corina ended up in prison and was trying to find her but fell on deaf ears.

Thanks, Jardinera. This one is obviously hard for you to watch. Somehow, I'm enjoying this well-made tn, despite all the misery.

Cathyx- Seems Abuela was perfectly setting up the idea for MD to give away her baby with her tale of having to see her grandson who looks just like her long-ago rapist. We'll see where this goes. MD is right to be wary and cautious of everyone in that jail, Abuela included. I had a heebie jeebies moment when those two large roaches crawled towards MD too. Ugh and Blech!

Loved Maleny questioning Isidro about where Dan was the night her father died. He got really nervous. And what he said was that all the servants had already gone to bed, and after the shooting, when he came to the study, he learned Dan was spending the night at a friend's house. Now, Dan was a little boy. Wouldn't he had ALREADY been at his friend's house when Isidro went to bed? Why would Isidro only be learning Dan was out of the house in the middle of the night? Hmmmm....

Also, Dan seemed to be having a bit of a psychotic episode alone on the couch where he remembered the shooting of Julian, Maleny calling him a murderer, and Ursula telling him he's not to blame. Hmmmm....

So proud of Fermin for staying strong and away from the booze, even as he broke down in grief a few times. Seems Hon has shut herself away in Julian's room. Good. No one needs to hear her venom right now.

Speaking of venom...Josefa refuses to believe her planned vengeance all these years was misdirected and that she's not in control of Isela anymore. The doctor found evidence of assault and long-term abuse. And now with a baby on the way, Clod is going to have to step up to protect and take care of his young mistress. Loved the slap Alma gave him. Can't wait to see the follow-up conversation.

For a man who always prided himself is always being right and in control, Clod has completely lost control of his life, and has majorly damaged the lives of the people around him (Alma, MD, Isela, Max, Leo).

We also finally heard the complete plan Josefa had for Clod, that Isela shared-- ruin his life, career and reputation, destroy his family and marriage, marry him, take all his money, and drive him to suicide. Well, they aren't off track with that plan yet, even with Isela telling him the truth.

Vivi, I forgot about that part when Maleny questioned Isidro. She needs to have a quiet, uninterruptable, conversation with him. He seems like he could be convinced to talk.
I also liked that Fermin was clear to Esperanza that he didn't blame MD for Julian's death.

Thanks, Jardinera. My favorite Josefa name riff: Josefa the angry Jefa. This TN is engrossing but so sad and depressing right now. Appreciate your snarky take that made me laugh.

Honoria needs time and the priest to have patience with her. While the AA guys were visiting Fermin, I was afraid she'd come out and spew more venom.

Doris and Orlando silly enough to take Julian's ring for MD to Jenny, really? Doris, you of all people should've known better. But I know everybody's grieving and not thinking straight, so I'm going to let it go.

Loved Alma's slap, but that scene should've been longer. I wanted to take in the contempt in Alma's eyes and Claudio's deer in headlights. I don't think I'm going to be satisfied here because Claudio simply doesn't have the deep self-loathing and regret that I want him to have.

Still not trusting Abuela, though she certainly brought up good points that anyone would consider. But I don't see how Abuela would profit from MD having an abortion, while I do see how she would $$$ profit if MD decided to give up the baby.

Jardinera654, this was a short and to the point good recap. That slap was good and a
Long time comin. Alma was in pain from the
Cancer, but her heart was in more pain than
The cancer caused. And now max and leo will Have little sis or bro. Wait until they find out. Oooooo daddy you in so much trouble. I
Think we're going to have the rest of the soap to see the contempt on almas face, and
The boys faces too. contempt all around people, contempt all around.

Good for Alma! Glad someone finally whooped him upside the head; I just didn't think it'd be her.

I was sure Jail Abuela was a baby-napper too. Looks like she has other issues. If those issues are true, then we can be sure (-ish) that when Ursula and Daniel try to get her to take the baby (I assume) and she finds out he's the rapist, he's in for it. She seems like she'd know a bad guy or two on the other side of the bars to take care of Daniel. Someone should before he goes crazy and gets to plead insanity.

The worse he gets, the smart Maleny becomes. Maybe they shared brain cells and she's taking them over from him. I rooting for her to not be on the streets the way her mother should be.

I'm also rooting for Susana, even if she is a little bit horrible. Ivana needs Susana since she clearly won't listen to Gerry. And speaking of Gerry (even though he wasn't in this show), do we know that he has HIV or are we assumming? Maybe he just tested positive for, say, a thyroid condition. Maybe? Please?

Kelly

Jar--Is thanking you mucho for the recap. I haven't even watched the episode yet, but that's on purpose. I so hate where this tn has been and where it might go that I want to be prepared ahead of time. (I especially hate prison scenes.) This doesn't mean I don't like the show. I do. It's just so intense.

Vivi--LOL, do you mean Televisa has hired trained cockroaches? Are they as good as the Televisa rats? Must see TV.

Vivi--To Clod's list of uncontrollable folks, I think we could also add Ursula, Daniel, Orlando and Maria Dolores.

Kelly--how we wish for Gerry to be ok. It was interesting the writers just had him say he got tested and it's positive. We all *assumed* it was an HIV test. Unfortunately, Ivana didn't ask for what--she seems to know instinctively, or from prior knowledge that he was gay and only the viewers were kept wondering. Thank goodness today being HIV positive is not a death sentence, but it probably keeps him out of the gene pool for reproduction purposes.

Vivi--I misunderstood your comment, you were referring to majorly damaging certain people's lives, but they also have become uncontrollable, don't you think?

Anita- LOL. Yep, Televisa has moved up (down?) to trained cockroaches. Almost as big as their rats.

Those roaches are bigger than the ones here in florida. And they seem comfortably fine to
Be creepy crawlin around the humans. That
Girl that got up after md did, I thought she might Want to use the toilet that md put the board On to sit on to escape the cocka roaches. I Was so happy to see max & espy. I was hoping They could take her home. I can just imagine Wanting a shower and can't take one. The Sanitary condition there has got to be just Horride for that "time of the month". Poor md. Poor corina. Poor all of em. I guess it Gets worst from here for MD. I tell ya that baby Is a tuff little one, he or she is hangin in there with Moma. And they sure as hell didn't get that From the sperm doner rapest.
