El Hotel de los Secretos #2, 1/26/16 Tuesday: Out, Out, Damned Spot Or Something Smells Rotten In Hotel De Los Alarcón

Capítulo 2
Parte 1~
[With heavenward apologies to The Bard…..]

As Diego and Sra. Teresa Alarcón smile triumphantly to themselves and the congratulatory guests at the success of their dastardly plan (as Viewerville deduces it to be) to this point, a disgusted Julio exits to the balcony outdoors to take a much needed smoke and ponder…..whatever.  Suddenly a pensive Isabela comes out onto the balcony and accepts a cigarette from the mysterious man off the train.  “—How come I run into you every time I’m about to take a train I don’t care to take?”  He smiles suavely at her. “—Perhaps somebody needs to convince you.  Sometimes it’s better to stay on the platform.”   He asks if she’s alright.  She says perfectly fine.  He smiles charmingly and chuckles a bit.  “--Should I take you away with me?”  “—You’d do that for me?” He suggests if one isn’t persuaded by Fate, it’s best not to take the train ride because once you decide to get off it might be too far for you to get back again.   Just then El Depraved de Diego (G-r-r-r-r) comes out and the fragile moment is broken.  He walks onto the balcony looking for Isabel as Julio strides quickly into the shadows, formally wishing her congratulations on her engagement.

Diego inquires who the man is.  “Dunno.  Some guest of the hotel.”  Diego and she go back into visit said invitees to their engagement party and to dance together.  Definitely Julio has made one huge impression on her (just as he has–despite his rather non-existent visual appeal in parts of Viewerville as leading man material).

Back inside Diego and Isa dance the first dance together.  She’s not in love with him and her plans don’t include romantic involvement at this point in her life.  (Nope.  They sure don’t.  Medicine must take a backseat to Mother Teresa’s –ja!- plans.)  Oh, she says, I’ve known you quite a while now.  He replies back that she only thinks she knows him, but really she doesn’t.  (Never truer words…Hmmm.  You mean she doesn’t know the debauched you, or the diabolical you, or the depraved, two-timing, double-dealing you?)   He offers to give her back her freedom (Uhhuhhhh….sure you would) if she decides she really doesn’t want to marry him.  (The sumb!tch is such a gambler—he knows she’s putty in her mama’s hands now that papi’s dead and papi’s moral and financial backing are buried with him.)

Back in the moonlight, Andres tries to get Julio’s attention.  Julio reacts violently.  “—what’s the matter with you?  These antics are going to get both of us fired!”  Julio apologizes to his new-found friend and mentions he interviewed Sra. Limantour.  That’s a waste, says Adres.  “—Wrong-o-o-o-oh.  I spoke to her and she told me that no one had stolen any of her jewelry.”  “—What?  Would one of the management lie about something like that?”  “—Well, either they lied or you did.”  Andres denies and Julio takes his word for it.

Back inside on the dance floor, Isa is miffed and asks Diego why he didn’t ask her first to marry him rather than going to her mother instead for permission.  He answers he like to follow the rules.  Well, rules give me a migraine, she tells him, not a little bit indignant at his audacity.  “—I’m not like my sister, Sofia, you realize.”

Big sis is, meanwhile, trying to placate Hubby, who is pissed as hell at not being named the “rightful” new hotel director as most mature male in the family.  He’s obviously not seen as a member of the family and wants to leave the place, ASAPP, but Sofia won’t since this is a huge family ball and it wouldn’t look right.  Hubby goes into a sh!t fit over this, claiming why should he continuously let them walk all over him and he has to foot the bill and clean up the mess the Alarcon’s have made left and right with both hands (a diestra y sinestra)!!  Sofia says she’s not about to leave her mother in the lurch like that.  Hubby complains it was Mama who left them in the lurch, keeping them waiting for hours to learn whether he’d be made hotel director or not, and then rubbing their noses in her announcing Isabel’s engagement to this Mr. Nobody that she’s now made Hotel Director instead!!

Diego sweet talks Isabel by telling her that Daddy would have wanted her to stay and help Diego run the hotel with him, by his side.  (Diego, you slimy, silver-tongued devil, you!!)

Outside again, Julio demands to know who accused his sister, Cristina, of the theft?  Andres has no idea.  Must have been from higher up.  Probably Don Diego.  Yeah, says, Andres, the guy who’s now engaged to Srta. Alarcón!  The guy who’s just finished inheriting the hotel!!  Ever since he arrived five years ago, he’s been Sr. Alarcon’s (Don Romulo) right hand man.

Diego jumps the shark a few minutes later when he tells Isa that he respects her the same as her papi did.  “—Then why didn’t you consult with me before going to my mother???”  She leaves, quite visibly upset, pleading illness.  Dona T. jumps up and asks for a dance.  Appearances, appearances!!

All Andres knows—and it’s not much—is that he had asked Belen to collect Cristina’s things from her room.  “—It’s not like they need a real reason to fire somebody.”  Yeah, but there’s some reason they lied about why they fired her.  She wouldn’t just disappear like that.  Something has happened to her and somebody’s putting on this show to hide it.  --And, he’s going to find out who and what!!  He races off.

Don Benjamin comes out and finds Andres “loafing” and shews him back into the kitchen to help begin serving the guests.

Mama T counsels Diego.  Isa is a bit difficult to control.  Leave her to me.  I’ll see she marries you, but the rest of it is up to you!

At the same time, Isa is in her room, mooning over her father and how he assured her that her mama would not fight her going to college and medical school.
Outside again, Julio is back in his everyman hobo clothes.  Andres finds him and points out Isa’s bedroom.  He mentions she left the party halfway through her dance with Diego, feigning illness.  Julio wonders why.  Had to be a reason, surmises Andres.  Julio asks how he knows so much about her and the family.  Andres explains that he was born and raised on the ground of the hotel.  He leaves then and Julio begins playing a sad tune on his harmonica that seems to match Isa’s mood entirely.  She glances out the window and sees him playing there (but isn’t certain of whom she’s looking at?)

Back at the ball, Diego whines wondering how he can get control of her.  Heck, she’s making him the laughing stock of the town by leaving her own engagement party.  Oh, not to worry.  Mama and Isa are made of the same stock even though they appear to be like oil and water, down deep it’s the stubborn streak.  Now Sofia, she’s another story.  Mild and meek, the drab [gris= drab, grey, squirrelly] daughter.  And then, of course, Felipe, who has no strength of character despite all his mischievous endeavors…..  Mama toasts Diego and suggests he’s not going to let her brash, stubborn daughter get the best of him, now is he?
End parte 1~~~~~~~~~
============================================

Parte 2~~~~

Suddenly Felipe appears at the party--making the grandest of ungracious entrances, but an entrance all the same--with the latest of his many hookers hooked to his waist and keeping him upright.  He falls, literally, all over the guests and Mama.  Diego is angry that his reputation is ruined while she’s simply trying to keep the hotel afloat.  Behind closed doors she gives him what for.  He is so drunk—and tells her he’s only fulfilling her expectations of him.  She walks out in disgust and he cries to himself.

Up in his room, Diego has a guest waiting: Belen.  She and he get down to doing the down and dirty.  He fights it but then gives in to his inner urges and his ultimate desires.

Mama T tells Feli to pay off the whore and get her out of the place.  She screams at Sofia to go with Hubby and entertain the guests already.  Sofia whimpers and then scampers.

Mama knocks on Diego’s door next for another chat, inopportune, of course and Belen must hide.  Does she suspect another woman behind the door?  We’ll never know…..”Get dressed and Join me in your office.

A while later, Diego walks the grounds while Julio’s playing his tune.  Juliio hides, and is passed by.  He follows Diego to the saloon of sorts – a real den of wolves—and where there is betting on fights.  Felipe gets in trouble for not paying off his drinking debts.

Julio notes a madame there trying to force her “cousin”/daughter to whore for the crowd in the den of iniquities.  She tells her mama that she’s preggers.  Mama is mad to hear she’s disgraced as a future grandmother.  Isa brushes her hair, safe in her comfortable world of luxury.

Diego pays off Felipe’s debts to the saloon owner secretly for Dona Teresa. The saloon owner throws Felipe out of the place anyway pretending he’s not been paid yet (and possibly planning on beating the crap out of him despite being paid off??).  Felipe argues.  Suddenly Julio starts throwing punches, then grabs and runs with Felipe back to the hotel.  “--Let’s go!  It’s now or never!”
Meanwhile, Isa can’t sleep.

Diego returns to his room thinking to find Belen still there and to continue the shenanigans.  Instead he finds a chest with a ribbon wrapped around it.  Inside is a bloody blouse of Cristina’s. Diego is totally grossed out but has no idea apparently why it’s been put there.  (At least Viewerville hasn’t one.)  He tries to pitch it but Isa’s passing through the hallway at that same moment and he shuts his door.

Sofia returns to her hubby packing up.  She scolds him for being a coward and leaving her and her child.  (Apparently, she’s preggars also.) “--Would you abandon me and your child?”  He doesn’t want his child seeing his father suffering the unending humiliation he’s put up with living there under her mother’s [hotel] roof.

Dona Angela finds Isa looking at the guest registry for the place down on the main floor (excuuuuuuse me, but dressed in nothing more than her nighty and robe?).

The saloon owner puts the young girl up for the bid to the highest bidder.  She fights and is knocked unconscious and carried off by somebody....

“--Do you by any chance know in what room Sr. Julio Montiel Collado is registered?”  Angela says he isn’t registered at the hotel.  She knows because she makes it her duty to know each guest and room so that they’re given the proper amount of attention.

Felipe and Julio arrive through the kitchen’s delivery entrance at the back of the hotel.  Where’d Julio learn to fight like that, asks Feli.  That’s the way it is: in my world if you don’t fight you don’t eat, says Julio.  Well, replies Feli, you should be eating banquets-full then.   “--Oh, and hey, not a word of this to my mother, okay?”  Not to worry, I don’t want to get fired.  “--A lesson for you, Julio: those upstairs worry about appearances and those downstairs about work.  They’re not so different.  Either class is able to be killed by that which worries them.”

Sofia keeps harping at Hubby but saying all the wrong things.  He tells her she’s just too used to the rotten way Mama treated her papi, but he doesn’t intend to live that way.

The young girl would-be hooker is locked in the store-room till she learns her lesson.

At the same time, as Isa and Dona Angela look on, Sofia begs Hubby Alfredo not to leave her.  They begin pulling and shoving until Sofia loses her balance and falls down the huge stairway onto the lobby floor.

End of epi.

Jardinera...I am so happy to be watching a telenovela with you. I have not had a chance to watch this episode yet. I always enjoy reading your take on the happenings.

Looking forward to Part 2 Jardinera. Love your recaps and have missed seeing them for awhile.

Must say, I fell in love with that dress Isa had on last night. Costumes are wonderful in this TN.

Check in later

Daisynjay

Jardinera- Fabulous Part 1! Really looking forward to the rest. Another familiar face popped up last night-- Luis Gatica as the cantina owner. Felt really sorry for that poor young girl.

Daisynjay- I too loved Isabel's purple lace dress. Gorgeous.

As much as I'm starting to dislike Diego, I find his scenes with Belen to be hilarious. Their bedroom antics certainly aren't boring.

Hey, y'all. Hope you stick around for this one. I have to say this production is star quality, despite so many new unknowns. This is not the Telerisa we've come to love and attempt to disown. They've even managed to match the quality and lighting of the original Spanish filming. The costumes and scenery are to die for. Smoooooth. Really.

I will have to watch myself and try not to get ahead of what takes place since I've seen the original. They are doing justice by it, tho' the protagonistas meeting is quite different. Actually, I like this one's better. They've also cut to the chase rather quickly and I do like that as well, more to American's liking, IMNSHO.

I had trouble totally understanding the bar brawl and what the saloon owner had in mind. It didn't seem to make sense when Julio stepped in and started punching people.

Thanks, Jardinera. The recap is wonderful. I have seen parts of the original which was a production of real quality as this seems to be as well. I am loving Erik Elías in the starring roll. This is something different, Hope I can keep up.

"Starring ROLE"

Jardinera- Loved Part 2 as well!

How did Isabel turn out so well, when both her siblings seem to be useless?

Thanks, Jardinera! I agree about the star quality production. Is this being co-produced by Univision? Maybe they're the ones who upped the ante on a Televisa project.

I watched last night's episode on a different TV that can show only the Spanish captions, not the English. Wow. All the raving I did yesterday about how great the English captions were - the Spanish captions were not so much. Running behind the audio, and sometimes incomplete. Especially in the chaotic saloon scenes which I found nearly incomprehensible.

Sooooo... a pregnant young peasant girl, and a pregnant society woman who's just had an accident. Setting the stage for a baby sale?

Julie- Oooh! I didn't even think of a baby switch. But they might have some issues with the baby's coloring if he's darker like his prostitute mama, and not fair like the society folks.

Wow! I love this show

Thanks a gazillion for the wonderful recap!

I agree; the settings and costumes are stunning. I think Yon Gonzalez and Amaia Salamanca would be hard to top as the leads in this story, but these actors are doing a fantastic job and making the characters their own, and I'm sure they will grow on me. I am still a little afraid to comment since I've seen the original and don't want to spoil anything and can't really speculate or discuss the characters much without it, but it looks like they're already taking a few different little turns and adding some different characters, so maybe what some of us know about the original story won't turn out to be applicable here.

The three siblings certainly are different from each other.

I could do without the rapey exploitation aspects of the story. Sigh. Diego and Belen are gross, but at least she's willing.

Great work, Jardinera.

I'm sure that poor girl was boinked by at least one blond hotel guest. Her mother is a vile bruja. This would be a standard story complication in terms of Sonia dealing with an evil conniving mother like Teresa. A baby switch could be interesting karma for Teresa if she goes years without knowing something as big as this.

Sonia may be only as useless as Teresa needs her to be. She has a weaker personality, which may have made her easier to marry off so Teresa could be rid of responsibility for her and concentrate on getting the highest possible price for Isabel. However, she has made a deal with the devil and it's going to bite her on the tush (since bustles are no longer fashionable).

More after I catch up to MIVAC.

Thank you for the recap Jardinera.

I was also confused with the bar scene, the editing is just off on this one.

Sonia's husband was ANGRY, the best line of the night was when he told her that he had no idea what kind of debt her father owed her mother that he would allow himself to be treated like crap but that he did not yet owe her (Sonia) a debt that big and he was not going to allow himself to be treated the way her father was. Ah, so nice to see someone stand up for themselves.

Now to the baby, why would they need to have a baby swap? It's not like Sonia NEEDS to have the child, and it was also pointed out that the young girl made up the baby thing- that's why her mother was punishing her.

I wasn't thinking of a swap. I was thinking of a sale. I was thinking that Sofia (or Sonia) might lose the baby in the fall down the stairs, but wish to go forward with a fake pregnancy, or her mother might even insist on it for some crazy reason. I can't really think of a motive, but we're still very early in the story.

However, if the girl indeed lied about being pregnant (I missed that, but then I missed a lot during the saloon scenes), then obviously there is no opportunity for a sale here. But I do hope there's a reason we met that character, other than the contrast between her hard life vs Isabela's absentminded hair-brushing.

Thank you, Jardinera, this was a great read, especially since I 'm not sure when I'll be able to watch.
I'm curious to know what Julio will come up with when Isabel asks why she couldn't find him registered at the hotel - maybe say he is traveling under a false name to avoid being recognized?
So Sofia is pregnant? Poor little thing, she looks like such a "poca cosa", I wonder if she's all that innocent. For now she seems to want to keep everyone happy but that seems impossible.

Whoever chose Carlos Rivera (Andres) as her telenovio, you have great taste. When I saw him in the tux I thought he looked like he should be on a concert stage singing "Nessun Dorma" or something like that.

Will Julio ever have time to do any actual work to earn his keep in this place?

UA..That was me. I have added him to my list.He will be joining Marcelo Cordoba, Fernando Colunga, Big Ed Yanez. He reminds me a little of Dean Cain who has been my television boyfriend for a long time. Do you see a theme happening here?

Susanlynn-- Hmmm...tall, dark, handsome, broad shouldered, and a beautiful smile. I'm right there with ya. I approve of your list, and would like to add Cristian de la Fuente for your consideration. ;)

UA - I was wondering the same thing about Julio doing his job. I don't think he's done a lick of work since he got there. Andres is a nice guy and all (and cute as anything), but he's risking his own job (and possibly his mother's) trying to protect Julio.

Say, does Andres have a father? Is Benjamin his father?

I was wondering why Andres is so helpful to this stranger guy who, so far, has done nothing but cause hassle for Andres. And how can Julio possibly think he can pull off this rich man-poor waiter scheme with Isabel living there in the hotel? Might be time to rethink the plan, and maybe give Andres some help already.

Practicality question- So I thought Hulu was free if you allowed commercials, but apparently not. I watched Isabel (Spanish show about Isabel la Catolica that I'd recommend) on Hulu and didn't have a problem, but this one isn't happening. I didn't see full episodes on Uni-video last night. Does anyone know when they post them for people without cable to watch? I'd rather do that than all the morally questionable sites. Not because I'm moral; I would just like spanish captions for this one.

Kelly

I think because Andres was good friends with Cristina (her best friend according to her letters), he feels an obligation to help her brother, and now to find out what actually happened to her.

Any theories yet on who left Cris' bloody clothes in Diego's room, and just how involved with her disappearance he is?

I think Andres wants to be helpful because he was a friend of Cristina and wants to know what happened to her. They had thought she left the hotel and went back to her family or on to another job when she was fired. Now that he knows that, at the very least, her family knows nothing of her whereabouts, he can't assume that she's simply moved on and is fine. He is rather putting up with too much crap from Julio, though. The result of growing up in the hotel and trained to be meek and submissive and serve without question? But Julio is setting both of them up for a lot of problems.

Also, Isabel doesn't seem like the sort who would mind being friends with the staff, so Julio's pretense of being high society is probably wasted on her. And now she'll get to be mad when she finds out he's been lying to her.

Vivi...ding ding ding ding ding... We have a Winner. You and I evidently have a type!! I have only had one blonde beau, but my cousin is a handsome blonde, and I like Chris Hemsworth. I also consider a certain redhaired Scot verra, verra braw.

Susanlynn- Jaime is a very nice way of shaking up your fantasy beau lineup. A bit of ginger spice. Idris Elba is one of the MVPs on my fantasy beau lineup (along with some of the telenovios you already mentioned): http://tinyurl.com/z2vtke3

Vivi...yes..Idris..verra nice also..wasn't he on People's list of the ten sexiset men this year?...as was Sam Heughan (aka Jamie..aka James Alexander Malcom Mackenzie Fraser aka The King of Men...sooo romantic) Sam is not a natural ginger..more of a dirty blonde but he looks verra good as a ginger. He is my new obsession.

Oh! Chris Hemsworth. Thorrrrrrrrrr. I don't have a type, as such, but I do have a bunch of types, and Thor is one of those types.

Diego's reaction to Cris's bloody clothes makes me think that stabbing people is not in his repertoire (at least not yet) and maybe he doesn't even know exactly what happened to Cris. (ICBW) His very first reaction was like "what is this?" (not recognition) and his second reaction was revulsion. He seemed genuinely horrified. I think a more guilty person would recognize the clothes right away and not be nearly as grossed out. They'd be more preoccupied with the prospect of having to negotiate with a blackmailer.

I'm thinking that Teresa has more to do with what happened to Cris, but then there's the question of who did she hire to do it. And even that task seems beneath her, so she might have had Diego hire someone... we know he sometimes has to do icky errands for her!

What an awesome recap Jardinera, thank you

"The sumb!tch is such a gambler—he knows she’s putty in her mama’s hands"

"Sofia whimpers and then scampers"

Erick Elías is growing on me quick. He's so cooooool.

Loving this show so far, a lot. Jorge Poza is doing a bang up job as I'd hoped. Just love he and Belen.

Dominika Paleta is awesome as Sofia.

It was weird when Julio started with the fisticuffs, seemingly for no reason. Surprised about the den of sin but it too well done.

Julie. Let's just say that Thor is a type all on his own. There is only one Thor.

I think someone mentioned Sofia's gait as being ungraceful and unlike the time period, but I believe that's on purpose. Sofia is meant to be totally graceless, unlike her mother and younger sister.

Vivi I think you put your finger on it and why I think Dominika is doing a great job. She's a nervous wreck.

On a related note, I think Isabel wearing a white dress to travel was also on purpose. Most people in that time would want to wear something practical on the train, because of soot and dirt. Isabel is rich enough (or has always been rich enough, even if the family's fortune is changing) that she needn't worry about such practicalities; she can always buy another dress. And she's also so graceful and lucky and well presented. In her charmed life (which is probably about to change), these pesky things just don't happen to her.

Julia- I agree. That was brought home last night when they juxtaposed Isabel brushing her hair the required amount of strokes, with that poor girl being pimped out by her mother. Isabel has rich people problems. Julio spoke about needing to fight to survive in his world, and Felipe also verbalized the difference between the preoccupations of the rich and poor-- appearances vs basic survival.

OK. Isabel is also being pimped out by her mother, but in a less violent/vile way, and the motivation is appearances, not survival.

I am just getting a chance to watch this episode.

Yikes..That Diego\Belen combo is a piece of work. The first night, he was spanking Belen, and tonight she was slapping and biting him. yikes...Fifty Shades of Gris .

It was interesting watching Isa , poor little rich girl, alone in her luxury brushing her hair while that poor young girl's mother was tarting her up and telling her not to call her "mama." The grayhaired guy checking her out looked familiar , but he was all dirtied up. I think that he was in CS as Big En Yanez's friend ....or was it Destilando Amor?

Thank you Jardinera.

Andres is my new telenovio too, just so you all know, you have to share him with me.

I am betting that Diego did have something to do with what happened to Cristina, but he found someone to do the deed, so that could explain why he was put off by the bloodied clothing, but knew about it and wanted to hide it. So who put it in his room? It is too early to know or even guess with any accuracy. But since it came up now, it seems it has to do with either Alfredo not getting the job and being mad at Diego, or with julio showing up. And if it's Julio showing up, then Andres had to do it since he's the only one who knows about Julio. So Alfredo or Andres.

I also think that Julio will tell Isabel who he really is and why he's there. This charade can't continue for much longer and we know he doesn't just leave.

Jardinera: So glad to be reading one of your excellent recaps, again.

Last night’s ep went really quickly for me.

I like how they move in and out of the flashbacks.

Vivi: agree about Diego’s and Belen’s romps. And that was me about Sofia’s walk. What you say makes total sense.

Anita: (from yesterday) how sweet of you to ask about the High Points/Low Points list. I wasn’t planning on doing one. The last novela I attempted, it wasn’t well received. Which is fine. Every group has their preferences for what they want to read, be it a style of recap or extras like lists.

Nanette

Susanlynn- Luis Gatica. Currently in La Vecina during the day, but he's been in a ton of tns. He played good guys in both Cuando Me Enamoro and Amor Bravio, but he's been in a bunch of tns, and often as a bad guy.

Thanks, Vivi You have such an excellent memory.

I am watching the news and just saw pictures of cars snowed in in D.C. and heard a report about all the parking tickets swiftky issued . My friend is a DC cop. I'll bet worked extra hours this past weekend

I speak no Spanish whatsoever but have watched a few TNs over the last 7 years so I am used to the sounds of the language but I need the English cc's/ Luckily I have watch the original version of The Grand Hotel that played in Spain. I've watched it twice so I am fairly comfortable with the story. The English cc's on Monday were great; last night, Tuesday, pathetic. I turned them off and just listened to the Spanish dialogue and knew what was going on. But I hope the English cc's are back. This is one complicated story packed into 66 episodes.

I'm with Cathyx on Diego knowing something about Cristina being stabbed (not murdered though, holding out hope). Otherwise his reaction would be more of a "why did someone give me this filthy gross maid's uniform?" instead of the fear he showed. He's probably not much of a stabber (too dirty, and he saves his dirty for Belen), but he knows something.

I thought the scene (what I understood of it) between Angela, head housekeeper?, and the cook was cute. Too early to pair off couples?

Kelly

Kelly: I liked that scene, too. I'd like to see them as a couple. Looks like Angela might be stern but with a good heart instead of a witch like Teresa.

Kelly, Hulu is $7.99 and I think $9.99 without ads. I've got the $7.99 one. You can watch limited stuff without any subscription.

Jardinera--You are so into it, right out of the starting gate. I got so tired of all the promotional scenes I'm glad we're finally "doing it."

Vivi--You asked how did Isabel turn out so well, when both her siblings seem to be useless. Easy answer: Isabel was her daddy's girl, Sofia was mommy's and Felipe was sent away to boarding school at an early age.

Julie--You said, "Also, Isabel doesn't seem like the sort who would mind being friends with the staff, so Julio's pretense of being high society is probably wasted on her." Julio didn't know that.

But more important, he needed to mingle with the upstairs crowd to find out if Cristina had been dismissed because of the theft Mrs. Live-In's jewels. He feels he must assume the guise of a paying guest to move around at ease and ask questions. He didn't have to go very far.

Isabel will probably forgive him when she finds out why he's doing this.

Thank you Jardinera, very detailed recap.

I'm liking this telenovela, although i don't quite understand it fully, the dynamics between all the characters are shaping up to be interesting. The mother of the young pregnant girl is a evil person, maybe she already has an anvil reserved for her.
