Lichita, 12/26: STUPID ANTENNA!!!

Augusto puts Nestor on the spot about his supposed wife Magdalena. Nestor squirms and says he'll call her right now to prove to everyone that she's real.

Then some guy in a suit (new to me) catches Beto at the playground watching Mateo. And that's when the recording died! Seriously, I need a new solution (I've bean using a Mohu leaf antenna, which often works perfectly but sometimes just gives NOTHING AT ALL like today).

Could any of you please help out a poor blogger with some details from today?

Thanks!!!

I did catch a snippet of Augusto trying to give Beto a lesson on manipulating people. As we know, Beto is already an expert in this.

No problem, Ezra. You have my sympathies with antennas. On this end it is cable and vcr's.

Warning: I was not watching very carefully. but this is what I remember:

We find out that Vladimir is not Sheila's boyfriend. He is skulking around looking for Roberto. Roberto does his best to keep him away from Sheila and Mateo in the park. Vladimir reminds him he might have been La Pantera in the jail but not here on the outside.

In another joking conversation with Draco, Gumaro finds out that Alicia is the woman that Augusto has it in for.

Nestor's wife shows up at Icónika. It seems that they have been separated for years. He has been sort of a deadbeat dad. She wants him to pay his support payments. In the meantime, it looks like Alicia has found the real spy. Is he a maintenance man or tech support guy? Néstor's future with Icónika is on hold.

With his insurance payout, Nacho pays off a good portion of Magos' debt which seems to heal whatever rift there was between the two of them. She also mentioned something about going back to school earlier. Much to Elsa's fear, Macho invested some of the settlement money.. Nacho also bought two plane tickets to the beach so he and Elsa can have a vacation without the kids.

Luciana offends a client about his product. He threatens to cancel his account. Alicia tries to do damage control. Augusto chews out Luciana and tells her she better get the account back or she will be gone.

Braulio goes back to his apartment to get his things only to be greeted by Brisa's ex at the door.

Also, Sheila gives Roberto the cold shoulder at the park

Ezra, my sympathy!

Jarifa, thank you for stepping in and providing so many great details.

I was catching only snippets and the only thing I can add is that there was a cute little scene between Gumaro and Luci as she is leaving. She seems to intend to dismiss him rather discourteously but then turns and gives him a flirtatious smile and one of her trademark "faces".

I can't contribute a darn thing to anything that transpired while Santiago was on the screen. My eyes kept wandering to Gabe Soto's massive upper arms as my thoughts swirled incoherently around in my head. Sigh...

Sorry Ezra about your antenna troubles. Here is what I can remember:

- Nestor thinks that Alicia planned this so that she can wipe out competition for general director and then put Braulio in his position. This has Alicia worried that others will think the same as well

- Alicia finds out that the security guard/cafe cart seller was the one passing the information. Seems he did it for no other reason but greed. Alicia is way too nice and does not directly rat him out. They strike up a deal to tell her everything he told them and they seem to be planning something else(??)

-Luciana is on a power trip and tries to boss around Alex. Since Nestor left Luciana begs Alex to take over his position. He does so only to get more experience. Luciana also finds out that Santiago and Alicia are dating. She tries to belittle Alicia for this. Overall Alicia tries and makes these meetings actually time-worthy but Luciana obstructs this.

- Magos wants to get a job and settle her debt before she returns to school. Alicia will help her with her school fees. Nacho is impressed and think she may be changing finally.

- Braulio and Brisa remember that they cannot find that disc with Alicia ranting about Iconika. This well not end well.

Thanks, CeCe, I could not place who the "spy" was exactly.

I recognized the little dumpy spy guy. But I can't place him. Is he the night watchman who was checking on Braulio the other night when he slept in his office?

Omg I cant believe my theory that the coffee cart guy was the spy was right! My mind is turning more TN by the day, which is scary.

Sorry to hear abt your antenna Ezra. I didn't know you could still watch telly with one.

How did Vlad find Rob at the playground if Sheila wasn't helping him?

Loved watching Santiago beam at Alicia while Luci triedto disparage her and her background. Val coming in at the end with the coffee cart and telling everyone that she is Luck's mom was great. As designed on purpose to set her daughter straight.

Rob telling Alicia she cant be director had the opposite affect he was hoping for. Trying to keep her out of Augies clutches by telling her she cant do a job that she ist he most qualified for isn't going to sway her. I guess telling her what Gumaro overheard is out of the question.

Carvivlie: "Val coming in at the end with the coffee cart and telling everyone that she is Luck's mom was great". Yes it was - thank you for mentioning that.

From the comments it seems like this was another double episode. The last sceneI saw ended with Santiago and Alicia being photographed at whatever event he took her too or it was when Gumaro told Roberto that Augusto target was none other than Alicia.

- It would be so much easier if Roberto told Alicia that Augusto has it in for her. But alas Roberto continues to lie and withhold important information from characters.

CeCe, being in control of that info, just gives Roberto control of the situation and control over what happens to Alicia. He is a dangerous schmuck.

Carvivlie, congrats on your coffee cart guy theory being true. About tv and antennas: funny but true: I have one of my tv's on antenna and get HD for free something that I refuse to pay extra for on my cable. Antenna tv is far from dead where I live. It might get even more popular as the cable bills keep going up.

OK. I'm in the middle of watching the episode now. Love how Santiago stood up literally and figuratively for Alicia when Luci got way too much time putting her down and ordering her to get coffee. But I HATE how afterwards Alicia says she has no problem getting everyone's coffee. What the hell, Alicia?! So glad Santi put a stop to that nonsense. I know it was to show that she's still down to earth and all, but no. She's one of the top three execs at the company. What is she thinking?

OK. Rant over. Back to the episode.

-Vivi (On her last snow day at home!)

Wow Jarifa HDvtv on an antenna! I live in nyc and the way my bldg is situated I have to have cable.

I can kinda see why Rob doesn't want to tell Alicia he is investigating Augie. It is his last toss of the dice to get his son back and the more who know the more likely it is to coming out. But he could phrase it in a way to warn Alicia.

Sorry Ezra to hear of your antenna problems. I wish that I could help but I have no antenna experience.

Thanks Jarifa and CeCe for filling in. So the night watchman that Alicia had helped in the past was selling company information. Why would Alicia keep this quiet?

Boy is Luci on a roll now that she has power. How dumb is she telling the client that his product is no good. Good grief!!!

I hope that Magos is on the road to recovery.

I believe that Sandra will still be causing trouble. A lot can still happen.

must see tv

Vivi, Alicia is suffering from the "niceness" disease. Women always have to seem "nice" so they do not inadvertently tick someone off by not being the expected "nice."

I'm late but thank all you guys.

I think Alicia's problem is residual low self esteem.

Roberto slut shamed Alicia in LA when he assumed she was sleeping with Augusto and now he wants to protect her? I believe he doesn't want her to have the general director position anyway and gets off on belittling her. What is difficult about telling her the truth?

Carvivlie, Congratulations! Very astute. I didn't see it coming. Was convinced it was Nestor. And so appreciate the explanation of what happened when Val showed up with the coffee cart. Luciana continues to be insufferable on all fronts. Is that why Augusto is letting her share the top position? He wants Ikonika to tank and she's sure to do it? Her brother just sits there like a bump on a log. No help at all other than for a bit of eye-rolling.

I, too, loved how Sebastian stood up for Alicia. Wouldn't it be great if we all had someone do that for us in office ugliness? I'd like for it to happen just once in my lifetime! Never has. Sebastian, Swoon.

Are we to understand that Nacho's new investment is likely another mark of his naivete and he bought into a "con?"

Vivi, hope you have successfully dug out! That was a pretty lengthy snow break!

I would love to know more about the antennas. I'm stuck with outrageously expensive U-verse cable. I live alone and don't know about these sorts of things so if there's an easy way to research it, I'd like to know.

Thanks to all for such a successful collaboration!

I have an uneasy feeling that in the space of a week or two Nacho Cheese for Brains will have rid himself of every last penny from his insurance claim. Paying off Maggot's charge card debt? Maybe Swiss Cheese for brains, doesn't it have a bunch of holes in it?

Dona Felipa about antennas.
All television stations still broadcast an over the air (Antennas) signal. If you live in a large metro area, there are likely to be many many stations close by for your antenna. But if you live in a small town or out in the country your choices are few. The practical range for a small TV antenna is only ten or twenty miles, without installing a large outdoor antenna on a pole.

The only 'stations' which do not broadcast over the air are the special programs like ESPN, CNN, etc. Some areas of the US may not have a Spanish station because of the lack of a large enough Spanish population nearby.

First get a local newspaper or TV guide and see if there is a Spanish station nearby. If you do not need loads of channels you might be able to simply use a small indoor antenna.

I live in South Central Florida, so there is no shortage of Spanish broadcasts. I have always had an outdoor-style antenna in my attic and I have NEVER had cable.

I hope this helps. I truly believe cable is a colossal ripoff, and we could all survive without it.

Thanks, everybody. Ezra, hope your antenna works out.

Kirbo, thank you thank you thank you!!!! It didn't seem to be an option in my area because I never see anyone with them. So you've opened a new door for me. Totally agree about cable being a ripoff.
