Pasion y Poder #56 20160125 Please Bore Someone Else With This Love Story

Via the phone, Petra tells Gina that David asked her to pass along a message:  Dani and the shady reporter set him up.  Gina wants to hear all of the juicy details.  Petra tells her that David showed up with the reporter and demanded to speak with Gina, but she'd already left for New York.  Anyways, she goes on to say that David confronted Dani in front of both the reporter and Petra.  The reporter confirmed Dave's story that the kiss was a set up and he was paid to publish the kiss.  Petra tells Gina that Dave loves her and she loves him, so give him another chance.

David is waiting for Gina when she gets off of the elevator.  She asks how he knew which hotel she was staying in.  He says money talks and you can find out anything.  Anyways, he wants to know if she's made any decisions about their relationship.  She tells him that she loves him and she wants to be with him.  They kiss, take a selfie and send it to Dani.  Later, they skip vittle time, go right to the hotel room and get busy.

After a day of bating New York rage, strolling in 4 inch heals all day, and doing weird things that would provoke a New York nun to cuss them out (kissing in the middle of the cross walk and dancing on the side walk will get you stabbed there)...Dave takes Gina to dinner, tells her that he wants to knock her up and then puts a ring on it.  I can't wait for her to lose that stupid pony tail.  I hate it.

Meanwhile, over at the car raffle, Humberto thanks Eladio for buying him a ticket for the drawing.  Humberto doesn't know what he's gonna do with it since he can't drive, so Eladio suggests that he donate it back to the foundation.  Humberto says no way.  He's gonna have his manservant/nurse drive him around in it so that he can get out of the house.  Humberto hits Eladio up for some gambling money, but Eladio says no.

Anyways, Julia grabs an orphan and forces her pick a ticket out of the bin.  Julia gives the ticket to Nina, who announces that Peter Ashmore is the winner.  Julia thanks the crowd for coming and the Montenegros for their generous donation.  Nina makes a little speech and tells the crowd that she donated the car because she's a giver.  She also makes an announcement that Art will create a bigger and better charity than this one.  When she shakes Julia's hand, she tells shocked Julia that she hates her stinkin' man stealin' guts and hopes that she dies.

After the raffle, Ashmore approaches Eladio and asks him if he wants to do some dirty business.  Eladio tells him that he is sticking to the contract.  Ashmore says that it's great to know that he can be trusted and that he's Mr. Clean.  Ashmore tells Eladio that he will make his decision later.

Art approaches Humberto and reminds him that he sold his daughter to Eladio because of gambling debts.  Humberto reminds Art that he lost Julia because he did the pickle tickle with another chick and knocked her up.  He tells Art to leave his daughter alone.  Art says that he wants Humberto to help him win Julia back.  He's getting divorced and wants to marry her.  Humberto says that he won't do that because Eladio is a great provider to both him and his daughter.  Art believes that Humberto's support is still up for sale and says that he'll pay him.  He leaves Humberto his business card.

Nina approaches Eladio and thanks him for sticking with the "Fanny recommended the lawyer" story.  Eladio says that he didn't recommend the lawyer.  He is happy with his wife.  Nina tell him to watch his hussy wife.  Eladio tells Nina that he understands why Art wants to dump her.

Later, at the Montenegro Mansion, Nina wants some kisses before Art leaves for work.  Art tells Nina that he doesn't buy the "Fanny recommended to lawyer" story.  He tells her to take the deal that he's offer.  She says no, she wants more than scraps.  He tells her that she will not get his entire fortune.  She tells him that she deserves his entire fortune because she gave him the best years of her life and pushed out three brats.  Anyways, she believes that she assisted him with public relations and therefore deserves ALL of his money.  Art calls her crazy and leaves.  Please note that the meaner Nina gets...the more she's been wearing power pants suits.

Ashmore meets with Eladio and Art.  After careful consideration and lots of money and bribes, Ashmore will work with Art.  Eladio takes it well.  He asks why Ashmore decided to go with Art when he has no experience building a hydroelectric plant.  Ashmore says that the deal has been signed and is irrevocable.  Art smiles.

Augie and Gaby are meeting for some reason.  Augie (who has obviously lost his mutt detector glasses) tells Augie that she's beautiful...she's a mutt.  Anyways, he tells her that he'd marry her in a minute if she wasn't already getting married.  He asks if she's sure that she's in love.  She's like yeah, 25 year-old Franco  valiantly fought my frail 80 year old wheel-chair bound grandfather for me.  Grandpa had him in a headlock, but our love eventually gave Franco the strength to twist out of it.  Franco gave grand dad a pile driver.

Caridad prays to the virgin on Franco's behalf.  She doesn't want him to become an Eladio clone.

Meanwhile, Franco has cornered Clara and threatens to make her life miserable if she doesn't convince his mother to stop loving him.  He doesn't want Cari working at GLA and he wants Clara to convince his mother to find another hobby.  Clara tells Franco that he should be thrilled to have someone that loves him and wants to be a mother to him.  Franco pours coffee on the floor and tells her to clean it up before he returns.  Now Clara prays to the virgin as well.

Dani stops by GLA after a day of go-sees and auditions.  Franco wants to know who let her in.  Anyways, she's pissed at Franco because her sister and Dave have reunited and it feels so good.  Franco asks what he's gonna get out of it.  He asks her out.  She turns him down.  She says that she will do murder to keep Dave and Gina apart.

Ashmore and Art are doing lunch when Ashmore tells Art to put the shares in the name that he stated.  Art says that he'll do it, but he is no longer willing to pay 10%.  They will go back to the original offer of 5%.  Ashmore isn't happy, but Art tells Ashmore that he will have no where to go.  If he goes back to Eladio, he can't tell Eladio that he did a dirty deal with Art.  Eladio will sue him for doing a dirty deal.  Ashmore will lose his government contracts.  Ashmore says that this is not over.  Art and Ashmore agree not to turn against each other.  They will sign clean contracts and will not betray one another.

Eladio and Franco explain to the board that they lost the contract to Montenegro.  The board isn't happy, but Eladio explains that he expects to be president of the Business Association soon.  He has the support of all of the small businesses.  Also, Eladio expects to win the hotel contract that Dave is working on.

After the meeting, Eladio tells Franco that he is very suspicious of how Art got that contract.  Art has no experience in building hydroelectric plants.  He wants Franco to look into it...Dani and drinks.

Augie goes to New York to work on the divorce.  Nina tells her attorney fly to NYC to find out what Augie is doing.  Nina's attorney tells her to watch her stock.  Find out what Art is doing because information is power.  Business people do a lot of underhanded deals to avoid taxes and she should find out how Art does business.  She should find out anything that she can.  She's on it.

Art tells Erick that he played dirty to get the Ashmore contract.  He paid out a lot of cash.

Art calls Augie and tells him to speed up the divorce.  Augie asks Art how he got the contract.  Art says that he will tell him later.

Julia stops by Eladio's office for a good luck kiss.  She's taking her first real estate class today.  Gaby is now in charge of the foundation.  Eladio ain't happy.  Later she tells Caridad and Gaby that she's nervous about her first day.

Art meets with Humberto and offers him a lot of money to get Julia divorced and married to him.  Humberto tells art that he could have had Julia as a wife and Humberto as a mooch if only he'd kept his pecker in his pants.  Humberto tells Art that he should have made that chick abort.  Art says he would never do that because he wouldn't have had the pleasure of screwing up that son by neglecting Miguel and having him raised by an evil step-mother.  Humberto says that it's thinking like that that lost him Julia.  Anyways, Art offers to give Humberto enough money to buy a casino.  He tells him that he will never have to depend on Eladio again.  Humberto is listening.  He tells Art that Julia never stopped loving him.  Art says that he will make her happy.

Eladio tells his shrink that Julia is working now and it's pissing him off.  He also tells the shrink that Franco is blackmailing him.  Eladio doesn't want Julia being independent because she will learn that she can live without him.  If and when she finds out about Franco, she will leave him in a NY minute because she can make it on his own and that is his worst nightmare.

Erick tells Nina that Art bribed Ashmore.

Gracias, Cynderella.

I am wondering if Daniela realizes she will need to control herself if she wants to be a model. She will probably be told to lose weight and eat 50% fewer calories than she actually needs which will also mean that her capacity for alcohol will decrease. She has never been on time for work at her Dad's company and he would be a lot more forgiving than any ad agency or fashion house.

I don't recall hearing her say she would kill, but I'm not sure she would kill Regina. That would leave both her and Nina without a primary victim. She would also lose interest in David, as Regina is the main reason she is going after him.

Humberto can't pull the infidelity card on Arturo; he has no credibility. He cheated on his wife all through their marriage and doesn't care that Eladio stepped out on Julia. Julia cannot be faulted for refusing her bed to a man who raped her and kept her in that guilded cage of a mansion while denying that David is his son. He also denied David love. I completely believe what he told the shrink, that he believes that showing love is weak. However, I believe that he is obsessed with possessing Julia. He has not learned that you can't make anyone love you no matter what you do. Bringing Humberto into the mansion to help him torture Julia was about as nasty as it got.

Franco looks irredeemable at this point. He is now a clone of his father. How long will it take for Gabriela to find out he's been cheating on her with Marintia and possibly will with Daniela?

This was Mexican episode 69, BTW.

Oh Cynderella, you had me laughing and talking to an LCD screen...Mutt Glasses?

I suspect Auggie was not looking at her face when he "Felt Something" and heard wedding bells.

WOW Art had me fooled. I must remember him from MCET. Dumb, but not mean there. He had a house full of kids who loved him. Hell, even his kids friends were constantly trying to move in. I think my man crush is over.

A model? Dani? Really? It takes more than an award-winning ass and a propensity for taking your clothes off anytime.

Urban: Thank you very much for the recap!

On Franco: I'm in 100% agreement with you. He will NEVER be redeemed & death is where he'll likely end up (see Rodrigo on Bajo)!

Erick snitches on his dad AGAIN! Now Purple Lips will have the ammunition she needs to take Arturo to the cleaners!

Daniela wanting to kill someone ? Who is she going to kill ? Counselo, Miguel, Caridad ?

Gaby running the Foundation: What can possibly go wrong ?

That wasn't me; I'm tonight's author. Gotta get working on it after breakfast.

Cyn- Your recaps always give me at least one laugh out loud moment. Great way to start the day.

So, stupid Nina has just agreed to give Eladio's lawyer all the info she can get on her family's company's business deals. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Art sank to a new low this episode. Offering to buy Julia from Humberto.

You guys tried to convince me that Eladio was cool with Julia working. Lies. As I thought, he does not want her independent and out of his sight and control.

Seriously, at the end of this, Julia should walk off into the sunset hand in hand with her new real estate business. And she would work with the new construction company Gina and David will form, once GLA and Montenegro Associates destroy each other.

Vivi, that's a great point about what that lawyer will do with this information. That's exactly why Eladio recommended him.

I never believed that Eladio was OK with Julia working outside of his company. If he loved her at all this would not bother him.

As for Arturo, this was a bad move at a very bad time. His version of supporting Humberto would require him to live elsewhere, but how would he keep the man from gambling? He would have to set very strict terms and have the male nurse (or someone else) prevent him from going anywhere near a casino. Or notify the casinos so Humberto would not be welcome in them (if that's possible in Mexico).

Some troll posted at the end of yesterday's discussion that Julia should be slapped for being a hypocrite. Nasty comment to make about a woman who has endured a lifetime of abuse when she is only trying to insure that her son isn't passed over for his rightful inheritance. David was emotionally shortchanged by Eladio his whole life and while he doesn't care about the money he does deserve compensation.

Oh my Cynderella you are so funny. Enjoyed every bit, thanks.

"Julia grabs an orphan and forces her pick a ticket out of the bin"

Wow, I didn't think anyone could give Miguel a run for awkward creeper moments but Auggie went and done it. Gosh Gaby, don't ever be alone with this guy again. Now I had my share of older testosterone laden, pinstriped sleasebags attempt to charm my skirt up and wedding ring off early in my career with their patronizing father figure spiel. Some crass, very insulting, never solicited but always had a common theme. They were very confident they were doing me a favor.

Thanks, Cynderella, for another snappy recap.

Yikes...these ethicless , conniving people are going to be building a hydroelectric plant???? Really??? I cannot even...

And another yikes. Augie was a little creepy with Gaby.I would like to see him with Caridad...not sweet, young, dim Gaby.

Poor Julia between a rock and a hard place with these two blustering alpha males vying to own her and her father looking for the highest bidder. What century is this? This show would have been better as a historical drama. "Let me your master be."

Thanks, Cynderella. After a day of baiting New York rage, strolling in 4 inch heals all day, and doing weird things that would provoke a New York nun to cuss them out, lol -- At one point, I thought I saw a lady in the background scowling at David and Regina.

David tells Regina he wants to get her pregnant. Say what, caveman? Regina reacted as I did and literally backed away. Thanks goodness David pulled out the engagement ring and said he doesn't mean right away.

Art has so many problems at home and in business, and he picks this time to buy Humberto? Yep, I too see Julia riding off into the sunset happily alone.

Nina, don't be stupid. Taking Montenegro down is the same as taking yourself down.

I hope Caridad does come to work for GLA, for no other reason than to make Franco stop treating Clara like crap.

Thanks for another of your uniquely saucy recaps, Cynderella. You always manage to make me smile.

Well, I didn't think that Agustín would get any creepier but he managed to step up his game last night. How the heck did he end up cornering Gabi like that?

UA,

You've previously stated with certainty that Humberto preferred Eladio over Arturo because Eladio was more like him and would continue the demolition of Julia. In his conversation with Arturo last night he indicted quite the opposite.

and then there's this:

"He would have to...prevent him from going anywhere near a casino."

I could have sworn that he promised to buy him his very own casino. Did I hear that wrong?

I can see disaster of some sort ahead for Arturo as a result of his sleazy alliance with Ashmore.

Carlos

My reaction to any man indicating a desire to impregnate a woman is to cringe because I don't think any man really has a true understanding of pregnancy. And in this day and age how many men are still enamored of the women they impregnate when they start to show?

Nina has no clue that Eladio will use whatever this lawyer can find out against Arturo, which will affect herself. I don't feel sorry for her at all.

As for Franco, I'm not sure that he has enough conscience left at this point to be brought back from the brink.

Carlos, I recall Arturo saying "enough to buy your own casino" but I doubt that was meant as an open invitation to lose all the money. But what that conversation does prove is that Humberto is a totally selfish turd who would sell Julia to the highest bidder. It's not even about social class no matter what he says. Arturo is closer to old money than Eladio ever could be, but that meant nothing when Eladio bailed Humberto out of his debts.

This was so great Cynderella. Better than watching, which I did with one eye on the TV and another on my book.

Art is self-destructing as we watch. Eladio is all the insecure little boy who wants to lash out because he's petrified to be alone, but Art is just plain going whack. Everything about the wheeling and dealing with Hummy smacked of bartering and selling off his daughter. Now, there's love and respect for you. Handling things just like the spoil rich kid he is. Blech.

I can actually buy Daniela more as a model than I could Consuelo ( no teeny tiny little thing becomes a runway model. Not unless it's kids clothes.) Interesting plot line would be to show the seedy side of modeling, the passing of diet pills, the addictions that can happen, the pressures. Danny already has shown a tendency to drug use, that might actually be interesting. And now that I've said that, they won't do it.

Ahhhh, the kids made up. Give it what, a week, and someone will do something to pull them apart again.

I think I missed something...why is Augie in NY getting the divorce? There are some Carribean islands that would be faster...since when can you ram anything through a NY court?

Daisynjay

Auggie is in NY because Art and Nina got married there. Yeah, in the US.

Thank you for the outstanding recap Cynderella.

"Franco has cornered Clara and threatens to make her life miserable if she doesn't convince his mother to stop loving him" and "(kissing in the middle of the cross walk and dancing on the side walk will get you stabbed there)" were excellent.

Perhaps Erick's "friend" should pay Franco another visit? He has learned nothing.

I can only think David and Regina's frolicking on the streets of New York was meant to be a reprieve from the grimness of all the evil machinations occurring.

Arturo bartering for Julia was another low light (lowlife).

How are the writers ever going to pull this out of the muck? I mean how on earth are we supposed to root for either of these "galans"? Preposterous!

Diana

The scenes of Reg and David frolicking on tge streets of NYC gave me a giggle. My daughter lived and worked in NYC for a few years. Hub and I are not fans of big cities, but we used to visit her pretty often there. When we went out on the street , her advice was " Do not make eye contact; do not look like a tourist ; do not look like you are lost." She never told us not to kiss or dance on the crosswalks...but we figured that out for ourselves .

Diana...no galan's here. I need a good guy in this mix. The good\bad is so unbalanced. Abandon hope all ye who enter here. We can't look up to either of these alpha males . p.s. Did you get snow?

If Nina was half as smart as she thinks she is, she would take Arturo's offer, sign the divorce papers and keep it moving.

But she won't because she's greedy. And she doesn't care if Eladio gets information on GM because she was perfectly ok with Erick betraying Arturo and losing the company $42 million dollars.

Nina should take Arturo's offer and runs because I don't think Grupo Montenegro will be in business or in Arturo's hands too much longer. I believe the following things could happen:

1. Arturo/Assmore's shady dealings are discovered (because Nina told the lawyer, who betrayed client confidentiality and tells Eladio OR Angeles spills the tea to Franco), Eladio calls in an anonymous tip about GM, the government investigates &:
a. shuts Grupo Montenegro down
b. arrests/jails Arturo for fraud & other crimes

2. Because Arturo doesn't have any experience in building hydroelectrical plants, Grupo Montenegro severely screws up and costs GM and Assmore lots and lots of money

3. The Grupo Montenegro board of directors keeps seeing the missteps Arturo is making and demands he be removed as CEO. Erick/Nina/Dani/Consuelo's shares ban together with the rest of the board's shares and ousts Arturo as CEO. Because nobody knows except Nina & Augie how ERICK cost the company $42 million dollars, the board (with Nina/Dani/Consuelo's Shares' backing appoints ERICK as CEO. Erick fires Regina, Augie & Miguel. Because Erick is an idiot, GM makes even worse mistakes than when Arturo was running it. This will lead to:

4. Eladio takes over Grupo Montenegro somehow

At any rate, Grupo Montenegro is not going to be in business too much longer so Nina should get out while the getting is good.

Assmore is untrustworthy & shady but we now know Arturo is also untrustworthy & shady. And Assmore is a bad businessman because he's choosing short term greedy gains with an inexperienced company over a company that has proven experience in building the hydroelectrical plants. The Assmore/Arturo alliance will not end well.

Eladio will find this out via Angeles but Nina will end up finding out too late. Half or all of nothing is nothing.

After a day of bating New York rage, strolling in 4 inch heels all day, and doing weird things that would provoke a New York nun to cuss them out (kissing in the middle of the cross walk and dancing on the side walk will get you stabbed there)...Dave takes Gina to dinner, tells her that he wants to knock her up and then puts a ring on it. I can't wait for her to lose that stupid pony tail. I hate it.

And that's why I love Cynderella recaps. Comical, cynical, more than a tad curmudgeon and then outright outrageous. Enjoyed also your version of Nina's "te odio" as I hate your man-stealin' guts. As for pickle tickle, 'nuff said.

Anyway, I'm with you...a little too much of love in bloom on the mean streets of Manhattan. Okay, okay, we get it. And it won't last for long.

Color me crazy but I'm still rooting for Eladio to end up happily ever after with Julia. I know I know...stooopid. But gorgeous men do that to me. Can't think straight. And he endeared himself to me when he quipped to Nina, "I think I understand why your husband wants to get rid of you." Unkind. But then she started it.

Hope you're digging out of the snow Vivi and Diana. After a lot of buildup and hoopla, we got nothing here. But we still have a lot of Winter to go.

Thanks again, Cynderella. I sure don't want to be on your wrong side! (There is a right side, isn't there?)

Cyn--You are the Queen of the Uniquely Saucy. I can't think of a better description than what Carlos cleverly declared. Thank you. It was just what I needed on a day when 19" of snow and 25' of walkway prevent me from getting to my trash can.

Ooops, there goes my heart-throb of the dimples, perfectly formed lips and puppy dog eyes, over to the really dark side. I'm crushed. What a low-down scumbag Artie is to dangle money in front of Humberto for his assistance in getting Julia away from Eladio and to marry him. Is he nuts? Ok, maybe it was established that Julia continued to love him for 25 years and he still believes it. He just won't accept the fact that she's turned the corner on him and sees Eladio up ahead. My fear is that this selfish, arrogant human being, dishonest in his business dealings and his home life, is seeing Julia as just another deal. My fear is that when Julia finds out about Franco and Caridad, she will turn to Artie and he will be there to pick up the pieces of her newly shattered heart. He doesn't deserve her.

As much as I dislike how Nina operates, it will be fun to see her, Erick and Hector (?) the lawyer, going after Artie. It will be even more fun to see her end up with nada after she ruins Artie's empire. It won't take much, I think. He's already kvetching about how much the bribe to Ashmore is costing him, banking on getting it back with the hydroelectric plants. If he's going to buy off Hummy with enough money to buy his own casino, that will put an even bigger dent in his bank account.

Nina had better be careful about going after Julia, though. Eladio still holds a lot of power and possessiveness.

What is Ashmore going to do with a car in Mexico? Ship it back to NY or move to Mexico to oversee his expanding business holdings? Was the raffle fixed?

What can I say about NYC denizens...As many times over the decades as I have been there for plays, concerts, operas, museums, galleries, restaurants, shopping in neighborhood stores, using buses and subways, I've never run into deliberate rudeness or even any scary moments. I look everyone in the eye and smile and nod a greeting. I have run into very bad weather, doggie doo, piles of trash, but then there is the view of the Hudson and boat traffic from the 12th floor hotel room and the safe haven of Zabar's.

JudyB, I wish I weren't rooting for him because objectively he's terrible, but FC and SG made for one of my all-time favorite novela couples and all I wanted was to see them paired up again. So I'm secretly but not really tickled at them being a happy and loving couple.
Plus I admit I find it really interesting to see JS being a terrible galan and the idea that hey, it's been a really long time, why exactly would these two people still be in love with each other?

-Annie

Thank you Cynderella---Your recaps are ALWAYS a joy to read. Love them.

Urban---I so agree. If Dani were to get David away from her sister, she would soon loose interest in him.

So Eladio thinks that it is weakness to show love. What kind of a perverted view is that? How does ones brain get so scrambled?

Vivi---I like your ending for this novela.

Franco is getting worse and worse. He needs an attitude adjustment but wow would he get one?

We don't know 100% that Nina's lawyer is unethical but I almost forgot that this is a novela---Well, I'm not giving up my front row seat. Things are about to heat up.

Diana---David and Regina frolicking on the streets of New York, meant to be a reprieve for the evil that is occurring. Good one Diana.

New York advice Susanlynn? Wow! Makes me glad that I don't live there.

must see tv
the gringo

I'm a Jersey girl so the streets of New York city were familiar and comfortable for me back in the day.

It takes a lot to phase New Yorkers - most of them seemed as though they couldn't be bothered to even look at David and Regina's unchoreographed ballet! ;)

Susanlynn, we in MA escaped the brunt of this storm (fortunately) - thank you for asking.

Anita, please keep warm and safe!

Diana

It actually doesn't matter if Nina's lawyer passes on information to Eladio because Angeles will, too.

The Admin ALWAYS knows what's going on in the company, if it's healthy, where the bodies are buried (b/c they buried them) and the like.

If you ever want the lowdown on a company, get buddy buddy with the admins and janitorial staff.

Speaking of janitorial staff, Clara's GLA job must be paying her fantastic wages and benefits for her to put up with Franco's crap. She needs to get a job elsewhere (but not at Grupo Montenegro because they'll be out of business soon).

Judy and Annie, I am also a huge FC/SG fan (ahhh Pasion).

I wouldn't mind if Eladio and Julia end up together but so much would have to change. While Eladio seems to be trying to change on some minor issues (jealousy, possessiveness), he is still hiding many secrets (Franco, Caridad, etc.) and has yet to truly accept David as his son. Having redemption happen would be quite a metamorphosis but stranger things have happened.

Diana

Anon207- Well, Nina already found out something about the Assmore deal that Angeles didn't know. As part of the family, she IS more privy to secret info that's even being kept from the personal assistant. And she's going to pass the info right on to Eladio's lawyer.

Another snow day today. Still sore from digging my car out yesterday.

Vivi.....another day off for me, too. Today schools were closed due to ice. The 30 inches of snow have been plowed so that people can park somewhere once they get back to school and work. I am getting cabin fever. Maybe life will return to normal routine tomorrow. I feel as though I have been in a holding pattern.

I am also a fan of FC and SG. They were great together in Pasion. I would rather see Julia end up with Eladio than Art who is getting more and more joyless and difficult to tolerate. He is definitely not the galan in this tale. Maybe this a PSA for the success of therapy , and Eladio will deal with his murky past and repent his wicked ways and find salvation and reap the rewards of that much contested prize...Julia. Art was willing to dirty deal with Ashmore, but Eladio wasn't. That has to indicate the writers conveying to us that Art is worse than Eladio. And now Art is trying to get support for sharing Julia from her abusive fatger...ick. What a pair.

True story from the TMI files of Cynderella. I was an 18 year old girl in love with my 40 year old boyfriend's wallet. He was in love with dating a legal child. It was my first summer away from the midwest and "living on my own". Anyway, being a mercenary dater, I convinced him to take me shopping in Manhatten. Afterwards, we stopped by Washington Square Park to people watch. At one point, me and that guy who looked like my father, walked hand and hand over to the restrooms. My boyfriend goes in while I wait outside. Suddenly on the other side of the bathrooms, we hear this big boom and a woman screaming for help. Me being from the midwest (at that time) chose to run towards the ruckus rather away (like the NYers did). Anyways, after the dust cleared, it turns out that someone had planted a small pipe bomb in one of the trash cans. A guy and his girlfriend were walking by and he had shrapnel in his leg. My boyfriend gave him one of his shirts to wrap his leg in and we got on a train back to Jersey. NY....good times.

Some of the streets here have lakes at the corners, which is no fun. This will not get any better until next week or so.

As for New York, most New Yorkers barely notice anything like a couple "dancing" in the street. It's also one of the safest of large cities in America.

Daisy, your comments about Daniela going down the drug route are what I was thinking, too.

BTW, my article could be a little late tonight.

Here's how I think the Art/Julia thing will pay out. What Art is doing is both illegal and unethical. I think both he and Ashmore can go to jail for his shinanegans. Julia now has the upper hand because she can make him lose business as well has put him in jail. He might divorce her, but she's taking half with her. I'm going to say this again. Julia my be a b*tch, but I don't think that she has done anything to deserve Art's treatment. Everyone is self-centered at some point. All mothers protect their children. Who among us has NEVER been a tiny bit jealous when your spouse or sig is paying attention to someone else. Julia deserves to be punched. She's not innocent.

Cynderella, you are the best! Your recaps are short, sweet and very saucy. Thanks!

Vivi, are you at least feeling better? And you Susanlynn? Vivi, I too loved your novela ending, as things stand now, it is the only outcome that seems reasonable. Julia needs independence.

I hope Eladio continues his introspection and improves because seeing a person rescue himself is a BEAUTIFUL thing, and it happens every day.

I'm not going to like Nina or Arturo in this divorce, but sadly, this is how many divorces go, what was irreconcilable differences turns into the Battle of the Bulge with each partner using harsh armaments (court system) to destroy each other. I'm sure both lawyers are on a forensic accounting mission in NYC, I have seen this many times. The deposition phase is the worst, been through that with friends as well.

Sandy- I am finally feeling better. Thank you for asking. It was actually a perfect time to be snowed in. :)

I wish one of these times Art starts up about Julia that Eladio tells him fine, take her, she ain't no prize. And when Julia hops on the Art wagon I want to be there in 3 months when he's off trying to buy another woman cause Julia is sooooooo boring he can't take anymore.

Just thought of something...maybe this is just a looooong product placement for therapy. In Muchacha, there's no priest hanging around giving advice either, but there is a therapist who gets called anytime someone has a problem. If so this will be a seismic shift on telenovela format.

Sandy, so true about what divorce brings out in people. The absolute worst. Destructive in every way. The support of friends is so essential.

Viv, glad you're feeling better and Susanlynn, sounds like you are too.

As Carlos would say..Next!

Cynderella @ 3:17 you are putting Nina's crimes on Julia.

If Nina's present and upcoming actions help bankrupt Groupo Montenegro, that will be her payback for not taking Erick's actions seriously and especially for being willing to let him throw Regina under the bus. And while I know that most parents favor one or some children over others, her favoritism of Erick and Daniela translates to enabling.

What could be interesting is if Nina sells her shares of GM to Eladio before that happens.

Julia is trying to protect David from something he has stated he doesn't care about, but I see her point. There could come a day when David will need the money and he deserves something for his own pain and suffering.

Tofie- Julia doesn't want Art anymore. She's feeling way more fulfilled going through therapy, seeing Eladio changing, and learning to become independent and gain confidence by earning her own money. So by the time she learns that Eladio has been hiding a love child under her nose, and that Arturo has sunk as low as paying off her father, she'll be more than happy to fly solo. She won't want or need either of them or their financial support. Hopefully, Humberto will have also kicked the bucket by then so that she doesn't feel the need to support him.

I would love it if the show ends with Julia pulling a Kelly Taylor, while Eladio & Art think about it in therapy/jail/death.

She can join David & Regina at their new firm.

Cynderella...I love to hear your stories. You would a fun person to hang around with.

I am feeling better, but lethargic in this winter wonderland. I still have five more days on the antibiotic , and the Sudafed seems to be working. I should be getting some things accomplished , but I do not feel like doing those nasty organizing chores. I have seen nobody except hub since Friday when the 30 inches of snow started to fall. Did not have school today because of ice. Luckily, hub and I are fine spending time alone, but we usually see other people and have a busy routine that takes us in and out of this house. I cannot imagine being trapped somewhere for four days with any of these people..well, maybe Hotladio. Hey, he's in therapy. Maybe he will be turning over a new leaf...and I could help him. Like NIni, I am a giver.

Love all the comments this afternoon. About to go home, don't feel like starting anything major, so hitting Caray.

Ah, the Pasion references. Always dear to my heart. My first TN, finding Caray and pirates. What wasn't to love?? This TN, they are a bit off to me, but someone Julia and Eladio seem to "fit" better together than she does with Art. I noticed too often when he speaks to her, he might not have the forcefulness Eladio use to show, but he has the same bossy tendency, the same habit of telling her what she thinks, or just going after and after her verbally to get her to break and agree with him that to me is just as disrespectful and badgering as the result of flat out telling her she can't think for herself. More subtle. And he's getting worse.

As for dancing in NY, in all my many, many trips there for both pleasure and business, I agree, don't stand around gaping, or pointing or looking befuddled. You'll get run over for one thing, though Chicago on a good day is getting just as bad on Michigan avenue. But in NY, the lovely thing is if you do dance, or get silly, noone will care. They may look askance and smile, but hey, it's NY. Bring on the crazy, it's fine as long as you're harmless.

Daisynjay

P.S. Glad everyone is digging out and feeling better. Rough winter and not sure we've seen the end of things.

Daisy, I've seen women walking around topless and nobody cared and that was 20 years ago! New Yorkers are tough; almost nothing fazes us.

Susanlynn- Glad to hear you're feeling better. I'm alone in my condo, but there are 70 other units, and we've all come out to chat with each other in the common areas and help dig each others cars out.

Cynderella, 18 and 40? Augie could use some advice from your old boyfriend on how to romance Gaby! :D

My daughter has traded NYC for Toronto..a very different city. Her coworkers refer to her as the crazy, hottempered American. In Toronto, you can dance in the streets ....with your dog. Torontonians love their dogs. ..aye?

Great recap, I get to join again tonight, Bajo ended last night, excellent novela.

Just who is the good guy in this novela? Art screwing Eladio?

I can see Art confiding in his trusted son Erick. One screwing by your own son is never enough. Do you think Art has sth up his sleeve?

Don't think I would watch if it wasn't for FC.

Niecie, he wooed me with cold hard....cash. And yes, I know what that sounds like.

I haven't watched this one or the last 2 yet (MX Episodes 67, 68 and 69) but I couldn't resist a Cynderella recap! Cyn-fully delicious as per usual! Muchas gracias :)

Arturo acting like the spoilt obnoxious manwhore he truly is does not surprise me at all, this was a long time coming and many of us this side of the Patio have suspected for a while that Chimp Boy did not fall far from the Arturo tree. Indeed, (supposedly) young Erick has inherited quite a few of his lovable traits from his Papá. I'll give Arturo credit for this one thing though: I appreciate that he now embraces his inner a**hole with such panache! That goody-goody persona of his and that poor put-upon husband act were getting tiresome.

I'm disappointed that Auggie is getting creepier in his dealings with young Gabi. Could it be that rooming with Creepy Miguel has had this effect on him? Is creepiness transmissible? Come to think of it, do we know WHY Auggie is so in luuuuurve with Gabi? (They bumped into each other maybe 5 times in total and they had coffee maybe 2 or 3 times where she always seemed in a hurry to leave).

Glad to hear that Martín the silent male nurse is still in the picture. He had been MIA for so long, I thought he ran away or Humberto strangled him with his oxygen tubes or something.

Anyhoo, loved the recap and hope the episode lives up to it. I just popped in to say howdy. Hope you're all well. I have houseguests and I must watch "El Hotel de Los Secretos" first, so I don't think I'll catch up on PyP until this weekend. Will swing by then for a chinwag and a "Nina Fresa". Until then, be well, amigos! Hasta luego!

During many trips to NYC, business, pleasure and personal, I've done the tourist thing (Times Square, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Broadway shows, the Met, etc, etc); my son has lived there more than 15 years (in the Bronx and now Brooklyn); his ex lived in Harlem and he has friends in Queens and Manhattan); so I've experienced pretty much every borough and not just for a few hours at a time. I've really spent a lot of time there and in all seasons. I've walked, driven, and ridden the subways and buses... and throughout all that I have yet to experience the "rude" and/or "indifferent" New Yorker. Whether rushing through the sidewalks to get to the theater on time or walking to the corner store to pick up a missing ingredient for dinner, I've always been on the receiving end of a friendly, "Good morning/evening/whatever" or a "pardon me" if I should happen to get inadvertently jostled. I LOVE NY!! (I'm from L.A.)

At least, that's been my experience.

Yeah, I've been a NY for almost my whole life and we're really nowhere near as scary as people make us out to be. I've lived to see plenty of helpful, friendly people walking these streets, certainly far more than the rude, mean ones.

Late to the recap party but what a treat Cynderella, I am a fan of saucy snark!

Just when I thought I could not be more turned off by Art, he stoops further by trying to buy Julia. The whole scene with Hummy and Art discussing her like she was some piece of livestock to be bartered for land, was absolutely revolting. I just don't see at this point how the writers could ever redeem Art to be some sort of galan for Julia.

Change does not happen over night. Eladio and Julia have had years of pain and dysfunction but Eladio seeking therapy and wanting to change his abusive and jealous distrusting ways is what is needed to save the marriage. As long as there is a sincere effort and Julia is given the support she craves to be her own person then I think JuliAdio can make it. I'm rooting for them!

Nina is such a greedy and stupid bruja that she'll take the whole empire down. It will serve her right if she and Art both end up broke (her) and in prison (him).

I cheered Eladio when he told Nina he got why Art wanted to ditched her pumped up behind! I love that guy!

Auggie had a creep moment didn't he? If I was Gaby I would not be alone with him. That was just a bit too much too soon Aug and perhaps I will rethink him for Consuelo. In fact I think he and Miguel need to have some beers and discuss how socially awkward they both are with women.
