Caray, Caray!

A few notes (as requested by Marta) until she can do a recap mañana:

Augusto decrees that since HE is getting a divorce Roberto and Luciana will not be getting a divorce--not if Luciana wants to stay in the will any way. He also wants them to get busy and give him two grandsons--not grandaughters.

Santiago explains he did not give Alicia Roberto's criminal record to hurt her. She can take the information and do what she wants. She feels confused. He just wanted her to have all the information and to be careful.

Luciana wants to know when Augusto is going to give her her proper place as his daughter. He would be happier if she just went shopping and traveling. He loves her. He sees Dafne and Alex as a couple of losers

Elías and Sandra did the deed. Sandra wants him to know though that that ws a mistake because she only loves him as a friend nothing more. He has never stopped loving her. She fell in love with another. He tells her not to call him again.

Luciana tells Gumaro she will not be getting a divorce. Anyway what would he offer her? Gumaro turns the question on her: what would she offer him? Is his heart made of stone? She simply cannot live without Gumaro. He says she the "señora" doesn't want to give him anything in return. If she the "señora"looks in her rear view morror, she will see him (leaving) and he does leave.

(Roberto was going to meet with Alicia but he goes to meet with Sheila and Mateo first and never does meet with Alicia that night. He asks her to be patient. He loves her.)

Roberto meets with Mateo and Sheila in a café. She is in a mood. Roberto did not come to fight with her. If they are going to argue, Sheila is going to leave. Who does he want to talk to anyway? Her or Mateo? She tells him she is leaving. Nope, he leaves, she stays and Alicia arrives and is greeted with a hug from Mateo who remembers her.

Valeria will help Magos out while Nacho and Elsa are on vacation. Nacho is not too sure about leaving them in charge (earlier he did not want to go because Alicia was upset) and wants to wait a while. News for Nacho: the Cafecito has started turning a profit so Elsa is able to help out with the trip expenses. Better to charge it all on her new credit card and pay the bill in full when it comes due.

Alicia asks Sheila about Roberto. Sheila has nothing good to say: says he is a professional swindler. He sees women as if they were a prize, a possession to be never given up. Alicia asks the big question: how did Mateo end up in an orphanage when both of them were his parents? Sheila says Roberto took Mateo and stuck him that orphanage. It took her forever to find him.Roberto is the worst thing that could ever happen to a woman.

Beatriz tells Alex and Dafne that she has decided to give Augusto her Icónika shares. Dafne gleefully tells Beatriz what she did to pay Sandra back. Beatriz thinks it would be better that she apologize. When Dafne is gone, Beatriz tells Alex the truth. Beatriz would be mortified if the photos would come out no matter how false they are. Alex thinks she should fight back. Beatriz just cannot do it.

Gumaro talks to Roberto about not being able to get a divorce. Roberto says the divorce is off and he is also now really involved with Detective Carmona in getting the goods on Augusto. Roberto talks about the only thing keeping him going is getting back with Alicia. Roberto wants to know why Gumaro is so interested in his divorce since he keeps asking about it.

Alicia and Braulio talk about her situation with Roberto. He thinks she should just confront Roberto and find out what is going on with him. If he says he is separating from Luciana; ask him if he is. Alicia says that is not so easy. Another scene: Alicia and Elías tare talking. Which has made him happy his work or love? Elías says love is a mirage: starts out pretty and always ends. It is better do something that makes you happy without having to depend on anybody. If she wants to get married, she can put the noose around her own neck.
 

Augusto tells Roberto all we be okay as long as Roberto does what he wants at API. API will not tolerate a divorce. Roberto has no idea how bad he (Augusto) can be when someone is against him.

Elsa chats with Roberto at the Cafecito. She knows he came looking for Alicia. She warns him not to hurt Alicia again. She is like a lioness protecting her daughters.

Sandra is planning on getting even with Dafne. She is going to publish her photo knowing it will not be the "image" the public has created of her in their minds.

It is the next day and Roberto and Alicia finally have an opportunity to talk. He has come to her office. He is ready to tell her all sort of important things. Before that, Alicia has a some questions: Has he talked to Luciana? When is their legal separation starting? Roberto starts waffling. It is all so complicated. He cannot get a divorce now. He wants to explain. There is no explaining. Alicia tells him he can leave and never talk to her again. Alicia tells us she is starting to harden her heart.

I wonder if Elsa knows that Nacho lost all of that money now that she has volunteered to help with the vacation expenses.
I felt so sorry for Elías but seriously he should have known better.
Sandra is the lowest of the low retaliating against a child.
I like Alicia's new attitude. Roberto is still a married man with no definite timetable for a divorce. He should get the heave ho.

How many times is it now that Alicia said no more? Pathetic

Though Sheila put some spin on her version of events much of what she said about Roberto is true. Alicia is grasping at straws to justify believing in him.

Venus laid out a path to having a forthright life and it was ignored.

Hope Alex can convince Beatriz not to hand over the shares and she can catch Elias on his rebound.

Ingrid was so funny as Roberto kept pushing Luciana to each of the API board-members.

 

Tofie, yeah i caught ROberto pushing Luciana right into each of the API old guys... that was funny.
I also love your idea of Elias and Bea... Elias looks like a good very loyal guy when he falls for someone... i am afraid he is still in love with Sandra, though... but maybe if he looked another way he could spot Bea.

 

Marta and Jarifa, thanks for all the deets. Terrific storytelling.

Sorry to say that now Alicia is just getting on my nerves. She's a lousy judge of character. Surely she should realize Sheyla is putting a self-serving spin on Roberto's past.

Daphne, don't listen to Bea. You have no reason to apologize to Sandra.

Bea, for pete's sake, don't sell your shares. The divorce scandal is what it is -- there's no way to make it better, so fight for your rights.

Is it just me or did Mateo go through a big growth spurt? His hair seems darker and he's taller than I remembered.

I don't like Alicia now. Early, Maite did a great job as Lichita but when she took off the costume she became Maite and I cannot believe for a minute Maite would put up with a hustler like Roberto.
 

I finally realized the heading for the recap was posted last night - I've been looking forward to reading this all day.

Thank you Jarifa and Marta for your exceptional recounting. Clear cut details, outlined perfectly.

I thought last night was very sad, particularly as Mateo is still with his mother. I feel he is far from safe and sound.

The fact that I'm relieved Sandra rebuffed Elias (who is WAY too good for her), I felt his pain.

I was also annoyed that Shelia was so persuasive in her "frank" discussion with Alicia. The sour aftertaste of Roberto's lie has tainted Alicia's ability to separate fact from fiction.

"Alicia tells us she is starting to harden her hear"t. Huge sigh. tofie, I want the "old" Alicia back as well. That happy, optimistic woman has disappeared altogether.

Jarifa, Sandra better not hurt our Dafne. I didn't think she could sink much lower but if she does anything to hurt or embarrass Dafne, I hope Augusto drags her to hell with him.

Diana, there are so many really nasty characters, aren't there? Augusto, Sandra, Sheila, Vladimir, Draco, Néstor, Chuchette, Luciana, Magos and a questionable galán. Did I miss anybody? :)
 

I agree too. Bring back the ALicia that went with Roberto to the orphanage when Roberto dressed up as a clown... at that time she did seem to pay more attention and had a heart.
 

Though the genre different, after watching a real galán in Yo No, I can confidently say Roberto is no galán, an opportunist, yes. Even if he wraps this up in a pretty little bow and wins the girl it is not because he rose to the occasion but that others were so low.
 

Jarifa, I think you got everyone on the truly naughty list :)

But, there have been other characters who while not in the fire pit, have at times, skirted the flames due to their lack of support and character. I will note Bea for her failure to support both her children when they needed her. I don't know how Dafne has an iota of confidence left. If you cannot rely on your mother to love you and support you and see only embarrassment and dismissal when they look at you, how can you survive the hurt? I'm also ticked at Alex who virtually abandoned Dafne once his love life got back on track. I might add Magos here who has been reckless and thoughtless but I don't suspect intentionally cruel.

Marta, thank you for reminding me about the clown scene. Happier times for our "leads" for certain.

Diana, Bea was a hard one. She probably should be in the list because she hasn't fully supported Dafne yet and she was so reprehensible as a mother. I thought she had turned around but in this episode she told Dafne to apologize for sticking up for her! If Magos gets off her butt and starts doing something for a living to support her daughter, she might come off the list. I find her resistance to enter adulthood at whatever cost to anybody else planned and determined.

Sorry, folks, but I am liking the new no nonsense Alicia. I think she has achieved the proper balance. If she becomes a bulldozer like Sandra or Augusto, that could be a problem. Now, if she can just match her actions with Roberto to what her words said . . . She is too easily swayed by him. Same old same old.

Tofie, I have only been watching novelas since mid 2012, but even in that short viewing time, I have never really disliked a galán until now. One day we should discuss our favorite galán of all time!
