Antes muerta que Lichita #98 2/10/16
At the Cafecito, Alicia is feeling bitchy and definitely not in the mood to talk to Magos or Ximena. Valeria comes over and lets Alicia know that she knows the real situation with Luciana and Roberto and Alicia. Luciana is not happy at all. Roberto is a good man. Alicia should talk to Roberto. It is better to know the truth than always have doubts. Alicia looks like she is thinking about that bit of advice.
Augusto and Roberto are still at it. Augusto tells him to distance himself from Alicia or she and Mateo will suffer the consequences. It is "free will" and up to Roberto to decide. Roberto does not believe that Augusto would do anything to hurt Alicia because Augusto wants her for himself. He has always had his eye on her: trying to seduce her, etc. He tells Augusto that the real reason he wants him away from Alicia is because he knows that he loves her and is capable of doing anything for her. Augusto asks him if he is more honest or more stupid admitting being in love with Alicia while being married to his daughter Luciana at the same time. Roberto better watch it or he will get to know Augusto as an enemy. Roberto tells Augusto that he and Alicia love each other. Really? Augusto makes sure that Roberto knows that Alicia sold him out. Roberto looks shocked. Augusto tells him to open his eyes. Roberto cannot believe it. Augusto repeats his threat: if he wants Mateo to be safe: distance himself from Alicia. Roberto demands that Augusto tell him how he ended up being Mateo's tutor. Roberto suggests Augusto only got involved as that so he could keep Roberto's hands tied and that he paid off Sheila. Roberto guessed right. Roberto wants to know how Augusto got legal power over his son: Augusto had all the legal connections that got Mateo taken from orphanage without a paper trail. He got it all done due to his experience with the adoption of some "monsters" in the past. In the middle of all this, Alicia calls. Augusto wants Roberto to answer. Roberto says he will distance himself from Alicia with the condition that Augusto not involve her in any of his shady business dealings. To show how magnanimous he can be, Augusto will give him that one concession. In turn Roberto will break it off with Alicia once and for all as only he Roberto can: by destroying her heart. Augusto just smirks through all of this. Roberto does not answer the call but texts Alicia and arranges a meeting tomorrow at her office. Alicia will give him the five minutes to find out what he wants to tell her about his past.
At the mansion, Alex congratulates his mother on the divorce and getting Augusto to move out. He still cannot believe that she sold Augusto her Icónika shares. She sees it as all good: she will have more money to invest and it will be one less connection with Augusto. It turns out that the reason Alex came by is that tomorrow he is marrying Kenny. He is also going to use the wedding to promote the LGBT campaign at Icónika. Of course, Beatriz is upset. To Alex it does not matter what the Bible says. They can get married because the government approves and they love each other. Beatriz is still all worried about what everybody will say about the wedding and the LGBT campaign that will be making it even more public. Beatriz tries to explain that she she was brought up differently; much more conservatively. She will not be coming. It is clear to Alex that her prejudices are more important than their love for each other. Later, Dafne asks Beatriz to support her brother. Beatriz cannot imagine it: Alex marrying another man, probably from a different faith and of another race!!!! ( sounds like a bigot trifecta to me--sorry, I could not resist) Is it not rather strange she would not go to the wedding of her own son?--asks Dafne. Dafne does not judge her mother and tries to be understanding. Although she does not get very far on the wedding topic, Dafne is still excited about her new connection with her mother with no secrets between them. She hugs Beatriz who still winces a bit.
Tomorrow has arrived and Brisa and Braulio are in bed together. What is it that they have anyway? They think about defining their relationship but decide it is probably better to not put a label on it. Then the truth comes out of Braulio's mouth. It turns out Brisa's father offered to help Braulio out with his movie if he would help him get closer to his daughter. Brisa is not pleased. So what was last night about? Braulio insists it was the real thing. They both felt it. Just when you think all is well between these two they are arguing about the same thing again: Braulio assisting her father in exchange for his help with the movie. She feels like a piece of merchandise. They make up again after she hits him in the head with something she threw at him. Braulio tells her he really loves her.
At Icónika, Alicia is talking with Fátima about how she has been unable to contact Braulio (he never came home last night) to let him know about the meeting they have with the director and how he is going to help him with his movie. Roberto then arrives to talk with Alicia. First question: Did she inform Augusto on his past? Yes, she did. Why? He is part of Augusto's family and Augusto deserves to know who is living in his house. She goes on saying that he never told her who he really was. It has just been one lie after another. She is ready to his explanation. Yes, Roberto admits he is exactly who is described in that report. He makes a living off of taking advantage of people's innocence. From the very beginning he saw that being with Alicia would give him ideas, an assistant and a WOMAN FOR FREE WHENEVER HE FELT LIKE IT. (!!!!). And that is what he got. Alicia is more than shocked. Alicia cannot believe he would be so cynical. Roberto says somebody once said it was just "experience." He knows how to fool a woman well enough so that she or anybody could never get back at him. She tries to bring up Augusto. He disagrees: Augusto will do absolutely nothing because he is part of the family, etc. Anyway, he is done talking. The five minutes are up. He leaves. Alicia is left trying to calm herself down and not cry. She leans against a wall and ends up falling into what looks like Augusto's office. Augusto looks down on her with a smile!
Luciana chats with Gumaro. She accuses him of being like all men: just thinking about sex. She needs his support. He tells her to ask her husband. She complains he treats her as if she were invisible and he pretends not to see her and leaves.
Sandra fires her two creative directors. She needs somebody more creative. She calls Elías with a proposition. She is offering him a job. He won't accept. He is fed up with the advertisimg world. He can give her the number of the insane asylum. Maybe some crazy person will want to work for her.
Augusto and Alicia talk when she gets off the floor. She does not know how she fell through the wall. Maybe it isn't a wall? Is it a secret door into the president's office? He had forgotten all about it since he bought the building. She is not to worry because he is going to get it sealed up. She had her thesis in her hand and comments about always wanting to have it near to remind her of . . . Augusto cuts her off. This world is governed by other rules. When one is young and not an expert, one believes in all of that nonsense. Augusto points to her thesis. Now that she is a real professional she should know that those "ideals" are the most useless and impossible things ever. There are only three important things in this life: money, recognition and . . .money. Those are the real ideals. Also, one needs a firm hand. She asks Augusto if he will be using that "firm hand" with Roberto. What are his plans for him? Roberto has his coming. She hopes so. Augusto knows all about him being a swindler and he would like to let him have it but he does not want to stir things up in the family since he is his daughter's husband. In a case like this, one should be smarter. He assures her that at the proper time Roberto Duarte will get his. She wants to see it. Augusto reminds her that Roberto and she were involved with each other. Alicia tells him that was a huge mistake on her part. She excuses herself to go back to work. She makes a point of leaving through the door and not the secret panel. She leaves Augusto laughing.
Alicia is alone stewing in her office. Fátima comes in and wants to know why she looks like she just got some bad news. Alicia says she is fine. Fátima is there to tell her that the movie director Alfonso Estevánez is on his way. Alicia calls Braulio but he is MIA and still is not answering his phone.
Roberto has to unburden himself after his conversation with Alicia so he meets Gumaro in a park. He tells Gumaro all about how bad he feels after saying what he did to Alicia just to be sure she stayed away from him. He destroyed her heart and also his own in the process. She had such a look of pain and hatred. Gumaro finds out that Augusto knows everything about Roberto except for Gumaro. Augusto does not know that Gumaro is Roberto's friend, his accomplice, etc. Gumaro says that Roberto can't let Augusto get his way. Roberto says that until he has Mateo back there is nothing he can do. Gumaro tells him he has to think of something. Roberto agrees. He needs to think of something to save both Mateo and Alicia. Roberto asks Gumaro what was it he wanted to tell him before that he never had a chance to. Gumaro avoids getting into that discussion when Augusto calls Roberto and he has to leave.
Augusto and Sheila have a talk at her place. Draco is standing guard outside. Augusto is surprised that she has sent Mateo again to her neighbor's house. Maybe he should be paying her neighbor and not her. She uses the excuse that she does not want Mateo to hear them discussing Roberto. Augusto says the neighbor seems more like the mother than she. She wants to know about Allicia and Roberto. Augusto says things have progressed exactly to the point where he wanted them. She was right that she was the right one to give Alicia all of the info on her "beloved"Roberto . In a flash back, it shows Sheila calling Augusto when Alicia came to the restaurant and she took Mateo home while Alicia was awaiting he return. At that time, Augusto told her to say whatever she had to to make sure Alicia never would trust Roberto again. Sheila remembers all of this with a smile. She did exactly what Augusto wanted because Alicia has ended up hating Roberto forever. Sheila wants to know if Augusto did all of that just to end up with Alicia. Augusto is not talking but still smiling. Sheila offers up more than just talk and offers Augusto a "real good time" because she can do some things that drive men like him wild. Alas, Augusto tells her he is not interested. At another point in his life, he would not have turned her down but now he is only interested in the really unique "jewels". She adds "like Alicia". Yes, he answers: "like Alicia." He has had a lot of "Sheila's" whenever he wanted them in his life. He is not interested in them anymore. He leaves. Sheila is no longer smiling.
Alfonso comes by to talk to Braulio and help him out with his movie. He is getting tired of waiting for Braulio who is still MIA. (cuddling on the couch with Brisa) Alicia nas something new for him to see on the Carís (??) campaign so he will not feel like he wasted his time in coming. Alicia leaves her office and calls Braulio but just gets voice mail again.
Later, Fátima and Alicia have a talk in her office. Alicia admits to Fátima that she has become disenchanted with everything, disappointed. Sometimes we think that things are one way and then it turns out they were another way we never could have imagined. Chuchette and Néstor barge into Alicia's office cackling with an image of Alicia the "tyrant" on their phone making fun of her again. Fátima leaves. Chuchette and Néstor are so pleased with themselves because they think they are so funny. Alicia grabs Chuchette's phone so she can see what they are laughing at. There are more unflattering things said about her in a "chat". They are going to erase it all. Alicia says they can keep it all. She really does not care. It is not worth her anger. She thanks them for stopping by. Chuchette and Néstor do not know what to think .
It is time for Kenny's and Alex's wedding. Dafne is there but no Beatriz which bothers Alex. The wedding starts with the judge conducting the service. Surprise: Beatriz arrives to support her son. She could not miss the wedding.
Augusto needs Roberto to help him with one of his businesses that is an "alternative" to advertising.,
Alicia remembers what Augusto told her. He was right in his description of the nature of the world. Her "ideals" were nothing more than dreams. Next, in tears, she remembers everything Roberto told her. She throws her thesis away in the trash can. She tells us nobody would ever take her for a fool again but she never knew that her new attitude was going to create such a hell at Icónika.

So Alicia's 'reverse metamorphosis' is almost complete? From a beautiful butterfly pupating and when the chrysalis falls away, we get an ugly stinging worm ? Sweet, clumsy, nerdy socially inept little girl, to gorgeous, innocent young woman, to beautiful on the outside, hard, cold mean on the inside woman? Yikes! A pity.
Even if the evil Augusto gets his anvil, the damage is done. To Alicia, to Alex, to Bea, to Valerie. Last night's episode was really sad.
"Dafne is still excited about her new connection with her mother with no secrets between them. She hugs Beatriz who still winces a bit". Shall we continue to be sad Bea does not recognize the beautiful heart, soul and intelligence of her daughter or are we supposed to be comforted by the fact she simply winced but didn't try to break away from the embrace? I vote for the former. So, she went to the wedding despite her prejudices. If Alex is happy, I will take some consolation from that. He is still immersed far too much in his own life and does not provide his sister with the much needed comfort and solace she deserves.
Alicia's "reverse metamorphosis" (excellent Kirbo). In retrospect, what choice did she have? To stay meek and mild and allow everyone to hurt and insult her was not an option. I felt she was at her best with a slightly better wardrobe and a prettier haircut. She was still happy. She was still herself with a more modern outward appearance. I never thought I'd say this - but I miss that headband! the provocative outfits didn't necessarily mean that she had harden her heart but the persecution by her colleagues was relentless and at some point, she snapped and lost her kindness. She is the victim here, not the perpetrator.
That belongs to Augusto, aided and abetted by Roberto. If Roberto had told the truth from the beginning, he and Alicia would have figured and worked out everything together. It is Roberto's lies that fed Augusto's ego and determination to continue to manipulate and use everyone in his orbit.
I am relieved Elias did not go back to work for Sandra. Perhaps there is still time to connect with Bea? He would be a wonderful influence on her...
Jarifa, I have no idea how this is all going to be wrapped up (I almost typed "warpded" but that isn't necessarily wrong is it? :))
Thank you again.
Diana
I can't wait to see what sort of shenanigans Augusto has planned for his "rent-a-criminal" Robby.
Why was Alicia so shocked and hurt by Roberto enough to harden her heart, finally? I remember multiple times the rug drawn from under her by the guy and it wasn't coerced by Augusto. Did she forget seeing him kiss Luciana when she believed they were an item, or him marrying Luciana or has she been reimbursed for the airline tickets she bought for three?
Disconcerting is Alicia allowed men (Roberto & Augusto) to mold & destroy her.
And I agree Kirbo, in the real world Alicia would have been gone long ago or the likes of Nestor and Chuchette fired her first day as GM.
Yeah for Beatriz, baby steps
Sandra got some gall calling Elias.
Tofie, yes, they are baby steps for Beatriz but probably much closer to reality. At least there is hope for her beyond her marriage to Augusto. He really is the crazy one.
When Augie mentioned his experience with the adoption process was he referring to himself? I know he was illegitimate but I didn't think he was adopted. If that is correct then what is he referring to? Could Dafne be adopted?
Rob did the job well. Alicia's actions prior told him that she still carried a little hope and light for him, despite her words. He said what was necessary to kill the man the loves.
Yeah to Bea and Diana, I too hope she and Elias get together. Tofie, totally agree that Sandra had real chutzpah to call Elias offering him a job.
So Sheila is being paid to care for her son and yet pushes him off on the neighbor. I hope her anvil is HUGE!!
Kirbo, totally agree that Augie had done serious damage to all of these people. I just hope his anvil isn't death. That would be too too easy. Love "reverse metamorphosis".
I don't know why but I keep hoping Augie's poor treatment of Draco will inspire Draco to turn on him. He seems to be the only one with all of the goods on Augie and knows where the bodies are buried.
I just went back and watched the video re: adoption comment. The whole thing was: he had the experience in the adoption process of "ciertos engendros" = certain monsters/devil's spawn. He had a look of disgust in his face when he was saying it. Is he referring to Dafne and Alex? Maybe they aren't his.
My heart has turned cold to Alicia. That she still harbored hope to be with Roberto despite his marriage and repeated betrayals is just not working for me. Plus Alicia has seen enough evil coming out of Augusto's pores but still seems to trust him.
Maybe Gumaro will wind up being the true hero here since Augusto knows nothing about him.
Carvivlie, I've been wondering about Draco turning too -- ever since way back when Draco used his reed thin body to shield big bear Augusto from oncoming bullets. There's no reason I see for Draco to be loyal to Augusto.
Bea is improving but Agusto never will.
Kirbo---I'm joining the chorus---Your reverse metamorphosis was right on.
Right Kirbo---Roberto the Black Panther wouldn't be a match for Draco's Glock.
Niecie---I said it yesterday that I thought that Gummy might end up as the shows hero but it could be that Gumaro and Draco team up and work together to bring Agusto down. Remember a few shows back, Gummy and Draco were cracking jokes together
At the time, I thought that was pretty good as Draco seldom talks. Now I'm thinking that it makes sense.
I don't want to see Alicia in Augusto's arms. NO! NO! NO! Please NO! He will strike now that she is at a low point with Roberto.
I'm glad that Elias turned Sandra down. She has gone from bad to worse.
must see tv
the gringo
Gringo, you have spoken! Love the idea of Gumaro and Draco teaming up somehow to bring Augusto down.
