Pasion y Poder #85 Wednesday Feb 10, 2016

Lo Nuevo

Nina argues with Art about being more firm with Connie. Art's phone interrupts them, it's Hummy on the line. He tells Art that he will push Julia to leave the GL mansion. Art tells Hummy to let him know when Julia leaves the house. Hummy says he will, and then Art will have to help BOTH of them. Hummy also tells Art that he will have to accept David, otherwise Julia won't want anything to do with him. Art shamelessly has this entire conversation in front of Nina, with a smirky "I won" look on his face.

Julia and Gaby talk about Caridad being Franco's mother. Gaby almost spills the beans about Franco knowing who his bio dad was, but back tracks that he just found out the truth. Gaby is stunned that Caridad is Franco's mother. Eladio comes in the room and Gaby leaves them alone. Eladio starts apologizing to Julia for hurting her and that everything he does is for her. He begs her not to throw away their happiness. Julia tells him to stop being cynical. She has nothing to hold onto because of him. He gets on his knee and says he is there for her and is willing to do whatever she asks of him. She embraces him while he is on bended knee and claims she only asked that he love her, and her only, but that is impossible for Eladio to do. She picks him up from the floor and tells him that he has left her empty. She doesn't know if this is a nightmare, or if Eladio did this to punish her for not loving him from day one. He says he doesn't want to punish her and that if she wants, he can send Franco and Caridad far away from them so they can start over again and be happy.

Nina wants to know who Art was speaking with. He lies a big fat lie and says it was from Fiesta Americana. Nina wants to know why Art is against Regina and David's relationship. He doesn't want to talk about it. NIna tells him to get used to the idea of Regina and David living together , and to seeing Julia as a co-mother-in-law (consuegra) because that is what she is, especially now that she is getting along so well with her husband. Art cynically says that he has realized how well they (Julia & Eladio) get along. I really want to wipe that smug look off Art's face!

Julia tells Eladio that taking Franco and Caridad away now doesn't change things. If anything he should have done it when she got out of jail. (WTH?) He is trying to find a solution, but Julia says it's too late for that. What separates them now is lies. Julia tells him to go public, and tell everyone about Franco and Caridad, that way he can be seen with them anywhere he wants to go (she says this as if she were very jealous of Caridad). Eladio looks disgusted with Julia's words and denies wanting anything to do with Caridad. He swears to her that there is nothing between him and Caridad. Julia tells him that there is no way she will ever believe in him again.

Franco and Caridad talk at work. She says that Julia was very hard on her, but that she has a right to be angry. Caridad blames everything on Eladio. Franco blames Caridad. He says he will continue with his life because he has one purpose in life. Eladio has to pay for all the pain he has caused. Caridad tries to convince Franco to give Eladio time to recognize him as his son, but Franco is not willing to wait.

Gaby and Julia talk about Caridad. Gaby will talk to Franco about Caridad's work at the Foundation. Julia wants Gaby to head the foundation now because she can no longer work there. She will visit the children, but that's it. Gaby thinks that Julia might get back with Eladio. Julia says No Way Jose! She's even thinking that Eladio and Caridad might have a thing going. Julia says she can't be near Franco. She needs time.

Connie gets the baby shoe gift from Clarita. She guesses they are from Miguel. The pediatrician tells Connie she can leave after the OB/GYN releases her.

David and Regina are getting ready to eat. David hasn't had the chance to tell his mother about them living together. Regina told her mother and she supports them, but Nina thinks Art wants a divorce to be with Julia. The door bell rings, it's Franco.

Connie is ready to go. Art will pay the hospital bill, but Connie will pay him back because she does not want to owe them anything. Clarita gives Connie the stuffed bear and drawing. She tells Connie that she decided to give Justino a chance. Connie tells her she deserves to be happy.

Regina leaves so that David and Franco can talk. Franco can't understand why David is with Regina when she has caused so many problems with their father. David warns him to stay out of his business with Regina and to leave her alone. Franco tells David that he is thankful that Eladio had him close by and he hopes that one day Julia and David will understand.

Connie is with her baby when Dani comes and and asks if she knew that Ashmore was going to be the Godfather. Connie isn't kosher. Dani says she already told Ashmore and she doesn't think Connie would want to cause problems with her father's business. Besides, Nina told her that everything was A-OK. Connie argues that she is the baby's mother, and that Auggie will be the Godfather. Dani says that Connie is taking advantage because Erick doesn't have an opinion, and that things would be different if Erick were awake. She storms out of the room as Clarita comes back in. Connie says she has to put her foot down before the Montenegro's take over.

David and Franco argue about Franco being accepted as a Gomez-Luna. David says he has always been a part of the family, but he has never been able to win their appreciation. They argue about who had Eladio's money vs his love. Franco wants to forget it all and get along but David can't forget all the lies and how this is hurting his mother. Franco says that Julia is no saint because she cheated on Eladio with Art. David goes ballistic about that comment from Franco, and warns him to respect his mother before throwing him out. Franco tells him that he will bring him proof and make him swallow his words.

Julia talks with Hummy. He wants to know if she has made a decision. She says she hasn't. She feels horrible. Now she loves Eladio with all of her heart and she doesn't know what to do. Hummy tells her that she will have to forget about Eladio despite all the love she has for him. If she forgives him for this, what can she expect in the future (the old man is playing his cards right. If he were in Vegas, he would have hit the jackpot, ding...ding...ding!!!). Julia agrees with Hummy but says it hurts her because she could have sworn that Eladio had changed. Hummy tells her that he wishes her mother was there to console her. He does it instead.

Before leaving the hospital Connie takes the baby to see his chimp boy father. Erick suddenly grabs Connie's arm and opens his eyes. Connie goes to get the doctor.

While Eladio is on a business call, Julia comes down the stairs, suitcase in hand. She is leaving and hopes to never see him again.

E: "Julia, please, you can not leave me. Please."

J: "Let go of me."

E: "Don't you realize that life doesn't exist without you. Please don't go. Stay, stay so we can fix things. I beg you, I beg you. Come with me, don't leave. Please....stay."

J: "I can't. I can't go on living under the same roof as you. I feel sick to my stomach thinking about everything. "

E: "Please don't tell me that, don't think about it..."

J: "The more I think about it, the more I realize all the lies you told me. You know, I was thinking about when you brought Franco to this house, every detail, everything. Do you know how I feel?

E: "I feel worse. Believe me. I am conscious that I was wrong. Yes, I knew a was acting wrongfully, and I lied to cover it up. But then I had to lie again, and again, and again. And believe me the only thing I wanted was a perfect world for you, but I know that doesn't exist when it's based on a lie."

J: "Yes, yes and that lie ended up destroying me."

E: "But you're here. Stay...stay, and besides, you can't leave. I built this house for you, thinking about you, for you. If someone has to leave, I have to leave Julia."

J: "I don't know. I'll come for my father tomorrow, but today I am leaving. I don't want you to send someone to follow me. I don't want you to know where I'll be."

Julia turns and walks out the door.

"Julia...Julia...Julia...you're taking my life with you, Julia."

Eladio sits on the stairs in disbelief.

Erick gets examined by the doctor. He learns he's been out for 6 months. He first asks for his mother, then for his wife.

Hummy calls Art to tell him that Julia is leaving the mansion and going to David's apartment. Art wants to go see her but Nina comes in with the news that Erick is awake.

Regina gets back to the apartment. They talk about Franco telling David that Art and Julia have a relationship.

Connie and Erick talk. She tells him about the baby being born, but he doesn't seem too exited and Connie realizes that he hasn't changed. He says he's not feeling too good, but he wants to have a happy family. Connie still wants a divorce.

David and Regina wonder where Franco got the idea that Julia and Art have some kind of relationship. David won't let Franco tarnish his mother's reputation. Regina thinks it's coming from her mother. David wonders aloud if Regina believes what Franco is saying about his mother. The doorbell rings and it's Julia.

Erick won't give Connie the divorce so she can go be with Miguel. Connie tries to reason with him but he goes into a panic and all the machines go off. The doctor comes in and tells Connie to leave.

Julia tells David that she can't stay with Eladio anymore. David brings her into the apartment and tells her she can stay as long as she wants.

Connie, with the baby in hand, and Clarita wait in the hospital for Art and Nina.

Regina brings Julia a cup of tea and leaves them alone to talk. David tells his mother that he and Regina decided to live together. Julia's not too happy about it.

Nina and Art arrive in the hospital just as the doctor comes out to angrily ask Connie what she said to Erick to get him so upset. Nina gets on Connie's case for talking to Erick about the divorce. She tells Connie that if Erick gets worse because of her, she will take away her baby. Connie tells her she will NEVER let that happen.

Julia tells David that if he and Regina truly love each other, nothing will stand in their way. She feels bad about being a third wheel. Tomorrow she will look for a place for her and her father. She went to David's because she needed to feel his support. David thinks that his father should have been the one to leave the house. Julia says that Eladio offered to leave but she didn't accept because she doesn't want anything from him.

Connie tells Erick, Jr and Clarita that she won't let Nina and the Montenegro money take him away. Clarita steps away and calls Miguel to get him up to date. He promises to help Connie.

David doesn't think it's right for his mom to leave the house to his father and Franco. Julia's not thinking about that right now. They will talk tomorrow. She is exhausted. Regina runs in saying that Erick woke up.

Eladio and Franco talk in the home office. If Marintia doesn't call Caridad, Franco will send her to Argentina to look for Marintia. Eladio tells him if he wants things done right, he needs to take care of it personally. He will find a reason for him to go to Argentina. Franco says it needs to be believable so that Gaby won't be suspicious. Eladio tells him that once he's in Argentina he can not have any considerations with Marintia. He needs to learn from Eladio's mistakes. Franco knows that it hurt Julia to find out that he was Eladio's son, but it hurt her more to find out that his mother was alive and working with Eladio. He hopes that Julia will soon forgive his father. Eladio tells him that that's not going to happen. He is empty because Julia already left the house.

Dani and Ashmore are at a bar celebrating Erick's awakening. Dani wants to go to the hospital. Ashmore promises to take her after they go out. They start making out (barf).

Franco tells Eladio that he is sorry for everything he's going through. Eladio wants to be alone. He needs to think about what he's going to do to get Julia back. Because if he looses her, things will not be good between him and Franco. Franco wants to know what fault he has? Eladio says nothing will be the same, nothing, because then he won't be able to obligate Julia to accept Franco. Eladio won't leave him and Caridad out in the cold. He will most likely give him one of the businesses, but it will be separate from Eladio. Franco is pissed and hurt that he won't be working with Eladio just because of Julia and David. Eladio is sorry, but he has to solve this situation somehow. Gaby walks in and asks for her aunt, is she gone? Eladio makes it clear that he no longer wants to talk about it and goes upstairs. Franco tells Gaby that without Julia in the house, things are going to get very difficult. He also tells her that he went to see David and they argued. David even kicked him out. Gaby can't believe it. Franco tells her that she doesn't know her cousin well. She responds saying, she doesn't know her cousin, or him either. She wants to know why Franco didn't tell her that Caridad is his mother.

At the hospital they have stabalized Erick and he has been transferred to a regular room. Erick says he remembers what happened right before the accident. The cop walks in and is happy to see Erick awake. Now they can continue with the process of TheRat's homicide.

Thank You Thank You AuntyAnn. Last night the CC were great....until 9:37, then zzzzzzt.....just garbage with a word occasionally mixed in with "Univisionashksdfksjdflhklfhefkfd". Grrr. So I do appreciate your work. And early :-)

Sheezo, last night when smarmy slimy disgusting Franco visited David, I kept scrutinizing the screen trying to figure out if the two were about the same size. Then when they were nose to nose I decided David could probably do just fine and I was yelling to him to "punch him", "beat his ass, do it". He didn't, but did kick him out. Oh if Eladio could only be a mouse in the corner while Francoslimeball is telling Caridad how he is plotting against him.

It was downright spooky when that hairy simian paw..er hand clutched Consuelo.

Gracias, AuntyAnn.

Gabriela is dumber than a bag of rocks at this point. For a second I thought I saw her realize that she hadn't done the math on the last names but after the comments that Herrera is a very common surname I kind of shrugged. She should be furious with Franco over him not telling her that Caridad is his mother. When she finds out about Marintia I hope she dumps his lying ass. I also hope she isn't pregnant before then.

Franco is dead to me now because of the number he's trying to pull on David by convincing him that Julia had been cheating on Eladio and that Regina is causing problems with "our father". Ingrate. They should both be trying to figure out what's been up all these years but that's certainly not in keeping with the Cain and Abel thing that's been brewing since whenever Eladio's blatant favoritism began showing.

Not sure what Eladio expects Franco to accomplish in Argentina. I don't know if he equates Marintia with Caridad, but we know she is a tougher customer than Caridad could ever have been. Franco will have a substantially harder time because while Caridad was naive Marintia is a true schemer. When Gabriela finds out about this she will freak. It would be deliciously ironic for her and Marintia to hit the courthouse at the same time and have two judges who know each other grant them everything Franco has (although since the marriage was only a few days ago that doesn't seem likely).

Eladio could be left alone with all his millions and no people around him, but in the long term it's what he deserves.

More in a little while. I need to catch up to last night's episode of HdLS,

Hope everyone has a great day. I hope to comment later in the day, but in the meantime enjoy the recap!

Hasta Pronto

Loved the recap!

Connie & the rest of us still not shocked that Erick will NEVER change.

I'm afraid she's going to get killed!

Purple Lips threatening to take away the baby while weakling Arturo sits there: he's incompetent!

Marinita: Your days are NUMBERED & the countdown begins!

AuntyAnn, fantastic recap!

"Art shamelessly has this entire conversation in front of Nina, with a smirky "I won" look on his face" captured that scene to a "t".

I'm sad Franco stole Art's letter, which will simply result in more (unnecessary)punishment for Julia. Eladio's clear dismissal of Franco and obvious desire for him to simply disappear is evident. Dissed and dismissed. Clearly.

Everyone in Julia's inner circle has betrayed her. But, I admit to being relieved for Gaby (who was in a no win situation whichever way she went). She is in for another world of heartbreak when she learns about Marintia.

The hideous Humberto continues to spew his venom as he slithers seamlessly from scene to scene.

While I really like Connie, did it not occur to her that she might sit back and wait to pounce on Erick once he was awake for more than 5 minutes? All her outburst did was rile up Erick and perch Nina even higher on her horse! I do not blame her and think she should simply not go to the hospital any more.

Consuelo's child is almost as big as she is...

So Julia lands at David's. Clearly, the fact she has left Eladio will be extremely detrimental to Regina and David's relationship. Arturo doesn't waste any time does he? I wonder if the bereft Julia will weaken and reconsider. What a sordid mess.

Thank you so much!

Diana

Ape Child woke up, but at least the writers didn't give him amnesia. That's a relief.

Consuelo should have evaded the divorce issue for the moment. Erick's reaction just gave Nina more motive to kill Consuelo. Nina wants that baby for the GM shares Arturo put in his and Consuelo's names. If there were no divorce pending Nina would be trying to prove that the baby isn't Erick's so he could divorce Consuelo and go back to being the little Mama's boy he is.

I've probably said this before, but what the hell does any past or future relationship between Arturo and Julia have to do with David and Regina? They're not children anymore, there was no contact between Arturo and Julia during their youth, and life has to go on. If the GL marriage goes under it's all about Eladio's lies and past abuse. The Montenegro marriage was doomed before they even took the vows and Arturo's father predicted that. Neither marriage was contracted under appropriate conditions in the first place. Eladio's shrink's warning is possibly coming to fruition right now.

The Montenegro divorce is inevitable and will be fugly. Nina's lawyer (who works for Eladio) will try to make much of an adultery that never happened. This is going to drag Julia through the mud as well. It could break up David and Regina if they don't decide now to stay out of it and wouldn't Daniela love that.

Now is certainly not the time for there to be any contact between Julia and Arturo, who was lucky he had to run to the hospital to see Ape Child.

Back to him, I wonder what the police will do at this point. He's in no physical shape to go to jail and I doubt that there is a medical ward in one to work on his condition after being bedridden for six months. It's a bigger security risk for him to be in the hospital, but it would be inhumane to move him out of it.

"Consuelo's child is almost as big as she is..." Funny. I couldn't help but notice how tiny she is as she walked beside Clara (in heels) last night in the hospital lobby.

Beautifully done, AuntyAnn! Thank you.

You certainly have Arturo's number:
"Art shamelessly has this entire conversation in front of Nina, with a smirky "I won" look on his face."

When Erick woke up, I couldn't help but compare the scene with Rulli's awakening from a 7-year coma in Lo que la vida me robó – how he massaged his powerful thighs, and then went running right into downtown Buenos Aires, muscles rippling, a dazed expression on his astonishingly handsome face. Now THAT"S how you come out of a coma! Hee hee.

We must have had a dozen comments in that discussion back then. But Alejandro Almonte was a strong fellow with a strong personality, unlike our simian friend here.....

Meanwhile I'm wondering if I'm going to catch some of Daniela's action tonight. Isn't she about overdue for some illicit activities?

According to her, Altair is supposedly 5'6". ? ?

AuntieAnn, loved your recap, thanks for your speed and clarity.  "I really want to wipe that smug look off Art's face!" So glad you highlighted that, he was ghastly in that scene.

Know the expression, “For want of a nail a shoe was lost, for want of a shoe, a horse was lost......” I think that Arturo was the lost nail that started this whole mess and it will be, as Diana just said, a sordid mess. The reason that it is so compelling is its realism, we see downward spiraling families every day in real life, and for the same reasons.

Thanks for the great recap AA!

I threw up a little in my mouth when Dani started kissing Ashmore. So gross!

Agree Connie shouldn't have said anything about divorce to Erick but I can understand that she doesn't want to put it off. If I was her, I would hire a lawyer and then take off with the baby. Let the lawyer handle the divorce while she is in hiding.

Felt bad for Eladio and Arturo looking at Nina while getting the good news was disgusting. I really hope his plan backfires.

Can't wait for Julia to find out her father sold her to Arturo. I mean basically that is what he is doing.

If Franco wasn't such a slimeball I would feel sorry for him. Julia and David act like this is his fault. No love from anyone. Eladio is incapable of giving him love, money yes, but nothing more.

Thanks, AuntyAnn. Terrific recap. the old man is playing his cards right. If he were in Vegas, he would have hit the jackpot, ding...ding...ding!!! - lol

So Franco thinks he’s got the stones to deliver some kind of venganza to Eladio. I’m intrigued on his plan. If Franco wanted to smooth things over with David, why bring up Julia’s thing with Arturo to her son?

While I really like Connie, did it not occur to her that she might sit back and wait to pounce on Erick once he was awake for more than 5 minutes?

Diana, I got riled up at Connie in that scene. Goodness, the man just woke up from six months in a coma. Maybe he was too drugged, stunned, etc. to be happy happy about the baby. Stop yelling at him.

Nope, Erick didn’t break into a sprint like Alejandro Almonte, but kudos to Nina for keeping him so well-groomed all this time. Haircut and shave perfect. I doubt if the nurses had the time to keep that up.

Lest we not forget that Ale's tan was still intact and his hair wonderfully lustrous!

Thank you, AuntyAnn, for that informative recap.

((Diana))..I got some giggles from your comments. "Consuelo's child is almost as Big as she is." So true. She is an ittybitty., and that bebe is not a newborn.

I used to have my students write their life stories in six words. For example, Eladio's would be Julia tattoo Julia Julia Julia Julia. Art's could be Julia Mistake Nina Julia Asshat JULIAAAA

sandy..so true, and once folks start that downward projector , it is hard to reverse the process.

I feel very humble today. I was talking to one of my students before class, a woman probably in her 40s who lived in a dangerous part of our world. Her family came here after her son was kidnapped (and they got him back) . After they had been here a year or so, her college aged daughter was killed. I was stunned that she was still on her feet, smiling at me, and trying to learn verb tenses and write an essay. I am going to watch my complaining about things that just do not matter. I will kiss all those I love today and be grateful for them.

Niecie, I don't think Franco really wants to smooth things over with David. I think he wants the least the lion's share of or the entire fortune as well as the corner office. The best way to do this is to alienate David from Julia because that is more painful than the alienation from Eladio.

If this also alienates Regina from David, this is just a bonus. It's becoming the same game that Daniela plays against Regina and it also plays into that little bitch's hands.

Things are going to get uglier between Consuelo and her nasty suegra, but I don't agree anymore that she should disappear. When the divorce goes before a judge Consuelo needs to be there to testify. Nina will say all manner of trash, as will Daniela. Erick is a wild card here and might plead to stop the divorce, but the pending murder charge is hanging over his head. That could work against him, but Nina could definitely spin it as Consuelo deserting him in an hour of need.

What a great job AuntyAnn. Thank you

I just don't see what Eladio and Art see in Julia. Maybe for Art Julia was the first person to ever tell him no and for Eladio he needed someone to really loathe him to confirm his self loathing.

No equivalency to what Eladio did but Julia made an impassioned plea to Art to be together and she attack kissed him at the beach. She cheated on Eladio already.

Julia ain't fooling me with her detour to David's.

With all you guys, Connie didn't have to kick a chimp before he ate some solid food.

If I put self satisfied smirks side by side I'd swear Art, Franco and Martin Shkreli related.

I agree with Urban Ant that Consuelo needs to stay. But she needs to live somewhere with security and a live person allowing people in and out. If she can afford it, unknown whether Art would chip in or not. She does not need Erik and or Nina / Dani showing up any time to cause trouble and spy on her. She also needs to get associated with some public 'baby care' organization or class or something to have some proof later that she is an exemplary Mommy.

AuntyAnn---Great work, you hit all the points.

Hummy is so despicable. He was filled with glee upon Eladio and Julia's breakup. I really don't see what he will gain. He's living in a mansion and eating fine food now. How much more could the old coot want. Besides being in a wheelchair, and a fancy one at that. He's got it better than most. I'm not living in a mansion and drinking fine wines. Ungrateful old coot.

Wow! Consuelo hit Erick pretty hard last night. He just wakes up from a six month coma and she starts hitting him up for a divorce. She wants out bad. I'll send my lawyer over tomorrow. Do you want me to leave you a pen so that you can sign?

Much talk about godparents. It has been suggested that Daniela and Ashmore be the baby's godparents. I looked up godparents and found out that they were responsible for the child's religious training. Oh! Well that explains it all. After Dani and Assmore come down from a previous night of drugs and alcohol consumption, they can take little Miguel off to church school like any good godparents would. Right?

Deliah63---Not sure if your couple will be able to work it out. First there's that Eladio tattoo for the afterlife. Then there's the lighter that Eladio keeps flipping. Fire? And we have Franco harboring deep hatred towards Eladio and wanting to get even for not being recognized as Eladio's son. Now we have Julia walking out and giving him no reason to go on living. Also we can't forget Arturo. He's already chasing after her. He can't wait to console her in his arms. and so a happy reunion? I won't be betting on it.

must see tv

AuntyAnn-Thank you for the wonderfully crafted re-telling of "Characters in Search of More Lies to Justify Their Behavior." Aaargh. Give me a good Pirate Tale and I won't bite my fingernails or throw nerfazos at the screen.

Based on the size of Consuelo's baby, she's been in the hospital for at least 3 months.

Based on Connie's conversation with Erick about the divorce, he doesn't know about Mexico City's Divorce Express. She can divorce him without his consent and after the deed is done, there is arbitration on the division of the spoils.

Why Arturo hasn't availed himself of this opportunity is beyond me. For a man of ACTION like Artie, an astute business man, he didn't need to wait until all things were peaceful with his children.

AA-I agree your "I Won" phrase was perfect. Better yet was the "smirky" label you added. But, what, really has he won? Just a little more fuel to his pile of burning lies.

I can't wait for Julia to find out her daddy's role in the Franco revelation.

As for Eladio--I have nothing to say....only that is why they pay Fernando the big bucks. He tore MY heart out as he sat back down on the steps, in emotional ruin.

Thanks, Urban. That's me, Kirbo. Stalker K also. Just keeping it fun!

Thank you for a comprehensive and witty recap, AuntyAnn! You captured all the important details and your asides pretty much sum up my sentiments on some of these characters.

Previously on "Keeping Up With The Montenegros": Erick woke up from his coma! Yaaaay! Chimp Boy is back in the land of the living and his poor sufrida wife waits all of 30 seconds to start yelling at him! How dare he not jump for joy at hearing the news of his son's birth when the wretched ape had just barely opened his eyes after over 6 months in a coma? Let the guy take a breath, let him get situated, let him figure out whether he can still remember his name, let him check whether all his limbs are accounted for and functional... Jeezaloo!

I don't know what kinda of confused game Franco is playing nor whether he has what it takes to go against Eladio, still, I'm intrigued. Franco is nothing but a pissy slimy envious brat. He lacks the intelligence, the business acumen, the cunning and the swagger to be 1/100 of what Eladio is. However, I'll say this: I'm glad Franco told David about his sainted mother's romance with Arturo! I hope David finds out about the secret rendez-vous between Julia and Arturo, the let's-run-together plans, the slobbering over each other at church and the "kiss attacks" in Vallarta (Good one, Tofie!). David has always blamed his father exclusively for the way his parents' marriage turned out and Eladio never told him anything about Julia and Arturo's encounter before she married Eladio, the paternity doubts, Julia's rejection and her pining for another man for over 20 years... David is going to be especially thrilled to find out that his mom and his suegro were making plans to reignite their romance while he and Regina were already an item. Julia knew just how much Regina meant to David and that did not deter her until it was too late. I said it before and I'll say it again, if Arturo is being such a smug obsessive conniving SOB to get into Julia's pants, it's because she was the one who got him all worked up. She was the one who got Arturo's hopes up when she pleaded with him to rescue her from her dungeon. She was the one who told him that her marriage to Eladio was a sham and that she never stopped loving Arturo. She was the one who stroke his arm seductively in Vallarta (a few minutes after David and Regina left them) and asked him to "seek his own happiness" *hint, hint* when he said he was unhappy with Nina. It'll be devastating for David to find out that both his parents have behaved in a despicable manner but if all the lies must crumble for this family to start over on a clean slate, then the truth, the entire truth, needs to be revealed and all the cards ought to placed boca arriba on the table.

On a lighter note, does Nina have a baloney radar? I loved the way she asked Arturo after Humberto's call: "Who called you?" fixing him with an icy stare.

Thanks Diana for your "baby as big as Consuelo" quip and thanks Susanlynn for writing our misled leading mens' story in six words: much Julia about nothing!

On Humberto, maybe if Julia had taken him on a trip to a casino every once and a while and let him lose a few pesos, he wouldn't have sold her out again. He's either in the mansion or in the rest home, and doesn't get to have any fun. Art offered a better deal.

Oh and one last thing: I was meaning to but forgot to make this appeal a while back when Erick was still in a coma. Since Chimp Boy might land in jail, I wonder if there's still an opening for the job of Auggie's assistant. Does the silver prince need a temp, an intern, a briefcase holder, a shoulder massager? I'm happy to go on an unpaid trial.

Same goes for Marintia's job, I would love to bring Bad Boy Eladio his coffee every morning!

-- Rural Ant: Welcome to the PyP Patio! Glad you joined this merry bunch now that things are getting so nerve-racking! :)

I think Consuelo can afford the right apartment because before the time jump when she resigned from GM Arturo said she would be able to comfortably live off the profits of her shares. The latest update from Augustin is that business is going well.

She needs a security building with an uncorruptable staff of doormen who can't be bribed or flirted into allowing Nina, Daniela, or Erick to get in. She should also change her locks periodically. She might also want to get a restraining order against Nina and Daniela. Once the divorce is granted she should move without a forwarding address.

Glad I remembered to hit "Preview" before posting this. I doubt that Divorce Express can apply to Arturo and Nina. They've been married too long and Arturo is too wealthy. It could probably apply to Franco and Gaby if she decides she wants out, since they've just been married and don't even own a condo.

As to Humberto, I said yesterday that he is probably looking for a major payoff from Arturo that he will tell nobody about while mooching off Julia, who intends to take him out of Eladio's cage. If he gambles away any money Arturo gives him, tough noogies.

Edited to add: Erick needs to be supervised on any visit. Nina is capable of controlling him so he can't be trusted with his own child.

"The old man is playing his cards right. If he were in Vegas, he would have hit the jackpot, ding...ding...ding!!!" Great line! That's why I sit at the Hummy table, he's a master manipulator and I'm having a hard time finding characters to root for. Thank you AuntyAnn!

I want Arturo and Julia to be together only because I'm a hopeless romantic and I'm just thinking about their good 'ol days in the past but Arturo is no true galan and neither is Eladio. I haven't forgotten the disgusting visits to the rat he would make at the start of the TN, so really neither of them deserve Julia. My coworker suggested that a third love interest for Julia will enter this story.

Loved the comments about Consuelo's giant baby and the comparison of chimp boy coming out of his coma to that of Alejandro in LQLVMR, when I watched that scene, I immediately thought back to how Ale ran out of the hospital and chimp boy can't handle his estranged wife's request for a divorce.

Did anyone notice how we couldn't see if the actors playing Daniela and Assmore really did lock lips? I saw the back of Assmore's head before they cut to another scene. So glad I didn't see anything, eeewwww.

Now that Chimp is back from his coma, will Marintia make an appearance soon?

I noticed that, but grosser things have happened and others probably will.

Getting back to Humberto, this hypothetical occurred to me: If he gets a large payoff from Arturo and gambles it away, Julia will find out for certain and that would finish her and Arturo. Humberto would then try to sell her to the highest bidder again at which time Julia should just stick him into Shady Pines Lite and forget he ever existed.

Lily, it would be nice if the directors did something nice and shot the kissing scene so that the actress didn't have to really kiss him. I'm not sure as that romance heats up if they will be able to continue it.

"Keeping up with the Montenegro's" LOL!

If I was Televisa, I'd extend this TN for the next 2 years!

AuntyAnn- Thanks so much for this wonderful recap. Things are certainly heating up among all our characters. Eladio looked really pretty being all sad, but I really can't feel that bad for him. You don't have your wife unknowingly raise your lover's kid and not expect a sh*t storm when it comes to light.

I did want to slap the smirk of Art's face though. He needs to go sit down somewhere and quit messing in Julia's life, until invited by her to do so.

I also didn't feel the least bit bad for Erick when Connie made it clear from jump that she was still divorcing his cheating, sorry butt. Why humor him? Then he'd just be whining later about how she lied and deceived him about wanting to stay together, and Nina would be all over that too. Better for everyone to know where they all stand from word one.

-- Gringo, Niecie and UA: About Humberto's thirst for money, it was revealed a couple of episodes ago that he is still an active gambler despite his family's attempts to cut him off. In the scene just before Humberto meets Arturo in the park to tell him that Franco is Eladio's son, we see Hummy instructing his nurse to wait for his bookie (corredor de apuestas) where he told him to and to bring a receipt. We also learned from that scene that the full first name of Hummy's silent nurse is Juan Martín.

-- Lily and Carvivlie: Whatever their motive, I'm glad the directors spared us that scene of Dani and Ashmorrrre exchanging spit.

-- Steve: Oh no! Have mercy on my poor nails! 2 years is too much!
A friend of mine in Mexico told me that it was confirmed that this TN is ending there on April 10, so the Gran Final in the US is scheduled a week to 10 days later (provided Univision doesn't get too scissor-happy and keeps the episodes unedited). I guess, we should hit Últimas Semanas in a month or so.

OK, then. We're only 8 episodes behind Mexico. It better not get any closer than that.

This means that there will be between 120 and 123 episodes total (which assumes two preemptions in Mexico between now and then). April 10th is a Sunday so it's likely to be a two-hour finale.

WTH is Humberto getting any gambling money now? One would think that Eladio would have kept a tight rein on that so as not to have to pay any more of his ruinous debts.

Thanks Nandicta---I didn't know that Humberto was still gambling. That so sad.

the gringo

Old Goat Humberto still gambling ?????

Thank you Aunty Ann,
Very thorough recap indeed. Even though I watch it, I just love reading the recaps, I appreciate your time and talent. I havent read comments yet, so I hope I am not repeating something that has been comented on already. As for Julias anger for all the obvious reasons, this is what My humble opinion is. The thing that I would be most super angry about is this: Eladio doubted if he was Davids father that his WIFE conceived. BUT he believed that the child Caridad bore was his!!! They don't ever show he ever doubted Franco's paternity. AND Caridad was married!! He never insulted her or suggested that the child she carried was his. How dare he! I would be really really mad at that reason, his obvious trust and confidence on his side piece and wrongly accused his own wife of being pregnant from other man, resulting in keeping David at arms length and favoring Caridad's son. WTF????
Leticia

AuntyAnn, thank you for this very telling recap.

Eladio really does love julia!!! Im kind of..........
Well...surprised. he is really scared that he's
Lost her. And Im really shocked that he told
Franco that he would give him and his mom
One of the businesses, seperate from the
Family. Ouch!!! he is family, illegitimately so but still family none the less.
Its almost like he and artty are switchin roles
Sorta, kinda, maybe.

Artty is a big fat lying hypocrite. He don't want David and regina together cause he don't want it to get in the way, interfear with him gettin julia Back. hypocrite. Sneakily so.

Im glad connie sees shes gonna have to put
Her foot down and stand firm. Cuz artty and
Nina want her to stay with that future jailbird
To ward off scandle, well what does he think
Is going to happen with him tryin to take julia away from eladio. He burnin the candle at both ends. Somebody is going to get burned, a few people is going to get burned. Or dead.

And how does nina suppose that she can take Baby erick away from momma connie? One Battle at a time people.
These people are a mess. One thing you dont
Start off a marriage with, a lie. Cuz it keeps going.
The name of this tn should have been "lies &
Power. Of course they're passionate about the Power they got by lying. Lies always come Back to bite you in the ass. Eladio!!!

Nandicta...you've brought us so much interesting music. Wanted to share one with you. When Eladio kept begging "Quedate...quedate" I thought of Lara Fabian's beautiful song by the same name. She is Belgian, I believe, but sings beautifully in French, Spanish and Italian. Quedate is a haunting, poignant song. Don't know how to do links but it's on youtube. I think you would love it.

Aunty Ann...You are my soulmate! I too wanted to wipe that smirk off Arturo's face. Just downright ugly to be scheming to meet your (you wish!) lover and talking about it right in front of your wife.

On Consuelo and Erick, I'm with Diana and the rest, that one can hardly expect coherent enthusiasm when waking up from a 6-month coma. Nor was it necessary to talk of divorce RIGHT THEN. If he talks about being una familia feliz, just smile and say nothing. Bring the baby to see him, rather than yelling at him for not showing enough enthusiasm. That was a very poorly managed scene if the writers want us to be on Consuelo's side. As was Miguel's muttered "he should be dead,". Not sure what the script writers are up to here, but it's not playing well with me.

Also add me to the group horrified by the Ashmore/Daniela smooch. Please God, don't let it go any further than that.

Well, Ms. Julia has conveniently forgotten all her missteps and side steps, so busy is she condemning her husband. Hopefully, when a little more time passes, she will look back and say "Now what was my part in all this? And how can I make amends?" Regardless of what your partner does, the other person always has some role in the downfall of the relationship. And owning up to it is called...hmmm...what is the word?...Maturity.

Aunty Ann, thanks so much for the recap and sharing your emotional reactions. You were right on! and I was right there with you.

Anon 3:31, you said a mouthfull girl. I never
Thought about that reasoning with Eladio's
Messed up thinking. Is he sure that franco is
His? You'd think he'd order a DNA, cuz the side peice was married at the time. Wow!!! He questioned his wife but not his mistress!!!

-- JudyB: Thank you so much for sharing that gorgeous song! I'm pleasantly surprised that you know Lara Fabian; she is mostly famous in the Francophone World.

The heavy hitter breakup song, the most heartwrenching I ever heard in any language is "Je Suis Malade" (I Am Ill). I thought of it the last few episodes and seeing Eladio crumble at the foot of the staircase reminded me of it. Lara Fabian does a wonderful rendition of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVvlmpo5g9k (the video has an excellent verse by verse English translation) but the one that kills this song with her fragility is the late Dalida: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVqSqSc9dgQ. Her interpretation is poignant, her Italian accent and rolling "R" are particularly touching. Watching her sing this song is particularly sad for me because she committed suicide a few months later.

Thanks for this well-written and very entertaining recap, AuntyAnn. Nicely done.

Leticia and Nina,

I was under the impression that at the time of their affair and Franco's birth that Caridad was single. I certainly could be wrong about that, though.

I'm glad to see that some here do have at least some sensitivity about the way Coni greeted Erick immediately on his return to the world of the living... talk about cold as ice. I applaud Nina for giving her that little scolding.

Bless his stinkin' little heart, Arturo actually looked disappointed when he heard the news of Erick's return to consciousness... just as he was about to run to Julia's side. I'm looking forward to him finally showing up at David's place only to be greeted by Regina.

Carlos

If Eladio and Julia do manage to find their way back to each other, I will listen to my favorite song "At Last" by Etta James. Now that woman could kill you with her voice!

I must be particularly heartless today. I've read all your reasons for why it was wrong for Connie to tell the Chimp she's still divorcing him, but all I can see is him berating her and telling her he's dumping her for the Rat when she had already almost miscarried and was trying to recover. Nope. Just not feeling anything for him. Carry on, Connie.

Thank you, Aunty Ann, great job.

I'm with Vivi - I'm glad Consuelo told Erick immediately that she still wants a divorce. He was already acting all whiny and clingy, slobbering and crying about how much he wants her (well, her acciones) back before the accident. Agree that he would have tried to make her feel guilty and get all demanding with her again. Nope! Snatch that band-aid off in one fell swoop! Besides, I don't care how many accidents and/or comas he is in, HE DOESN'T DESERVE any consideration whatsoever the way he treated her when the Rat was still alive. Even after the extermination, he flatly told his wife, "The one woman I loved is dead!" - or something to that effect. Get him, Connie, you go, Girl!

It always cracks me up in telenovelas (in this case, Erick and Nina) when anyone says "I'll never give you a divorce!" Wait, what?? You have no choice, people! It will take longer, but oh, yeah, you WILL be divorced! Well, come to think of it, I guess it's true ... they never GIVE it, it just gets taken!

Lala

Nandicta...wow...thanks for that Dalida version of Je Suis Malade. I prefer her version because her delivery was more subdued--letting the melody and lyrics speak for themselves-- and her voice is deeper and huskier. I always prefer those voices in both men and women. So sorry to hear that this lovely artist committed suicide. Lara's version was so stylized, it reminded me of Jacque Brel's Ne me quitte pas. Always a little over the top for me...but so French.

I had the equivalent of a school year in Geneva (when I could barely speak or understand French) and later, another in Paris at the Sorbonne where I managed much better! So I did get to dip my toes in the Francophone world , albeit well over 50 years ago. (Lord, how have I managed to live so long?) But I actually learned about Lara Fabian when someone posted a scene from La Fea Más Bella with that song playing in the background. Color me smitten!

The internet is so marvelous for sharing music, revisiting old memories and making the present so much more interesting. Thanks again. I love your music picks.

Oh and yessss, Susanlynn.. Etta James singing At Last is terrific. That lady can pack a wallop when it comes to the blues.

Lala..Yes, I think that in the U.S., if one person will not sign the divorce papers , after two years the divorce is automatically fina!ized.

OT..For those of you (Vivi, Carlos, Anita?) Who watched or read Outlander, season two starts on April 9. A delicious trailer was released today. Check it at Outlander Starz.

At the time Caridad met Eladio she was married, but her husband had gone north to the US. He was gone for a year or slightly more and she had not heard from him. She assumed that he had abandoned her or died. That was why when he returned after a five-year absence and saw 3-year-old Franco he knew that someone else had sired him. He tried to kill him and Caridad killed her husband defending Franco.

Thanks Nandicta, I cannot wait to take a listen. I love all sad love songs. I know it will be right up my alley.

Susanlynn and Judy B, I am glad you love Etta as much as me. To Me, I dont care how beautiful, sexy and talented other singers are. Etta cannot be imitated, her voice is pure emotion and blue. Yes At Last is the epitome of feeling that song in your heart and for me, stomach. But have you heard? Dont laugh...."I'd rather go blind." Listen to the lyrics, the pain, music, just blows me away. I am certain it is on youtube. I finally gave her cd away with both these hits because it would give me lump in throat and tears in my eyes everytime.

Nina glad you agree about Eliadio's accepting without a doubt his paternity with Caridada's offspring, while being so suspicious of his wife's pregnancy. I dont care that Julia was not in love with him, she was faithful and he treated David like, well, like a bastard.

Leticia

Judy, thanks for sharing "Quedate." It is truly beautiful, I’m downloading it today.

Nandicta, I loved "Je Suis Malade," by Dalida, the sadness is that such a huge talent felt lost enough to take her own life.

On the same theme, I’ve always loved Jennifer Nettles’ song, “Stay." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPG1n1B0Ydw The reason I love it is that, if you listen to the words, she shows change and strength in the end.

Goodness, Erik has treated Connie horribly, but why stoop to his level? Connie’s hospital behavior reflects badly on her inner core as a person, she had a chance to show grace, and she blew it.

I really didn't think Connie was being mean or spiteful. Just telling him the truth. I guess I will have to go back to watch that scene.

Wonderful recap AuntyAnn, thank you so much! .

Oh my...FC had me last night. Eladio's pain was so palpable and the tears and lip trembles. Eladio does love his Julia...she's his life!

Some great points were brought up about Julia starting all of this with Arturo and Eladio deserves to know all of this so he can confront her. Her attempts to reconcile with Arturo are not on the same level of betrayal as Eladio cheating and fathering Franco and keeping it hidden; but she can't pretend to stand on the moral high ground all these years. Her actions have had their own consequences on her marriage.

Arturo really is a piece of s**t. I wanted to put a fist through my screen and knock his jaw out of place. How does he think that this will look to Julia when she finds out how he conspired with her father? All so the old man can gamble. I remember several episodes back Eladio refusing to give Hummy money for gambling, citing that he wouldn't contribute to the fact that this was precisely what had caused Julia & her mother/sister to lose everything and it would hurt Julia. Eladio has done so many things wrong, but moments like that indicate glimmers of things done right.

Nina is the Queen of BS, so she can spot it right away. She was definitely on to Art and his low brow phone call with Hum.

Franco...timing..timing! You don't insult your Madrina to your half brother nor do you insult his girlfriend when you are trying to win over the familia. He hasn't learned anything from his Pa-drino.

I wish Gaby would just come clean to her Tia. It's obvious the lie is dragging her down. I feel bad for her being caught in this crossfire, it's obvious she loves her tia and is unsettled by Franco's ability to lie so easily and conceal things from her. I see the shades being pulled back slowly from her eyes.

Consuelo is another one who needs to understand timing. Erick is a jerk, but the guy just woke from a six month coma. You don't start hurling crap at him about how he isn't excited about the baby and she's going to divorce him. She came of very shrewish. I don't blame Nina for being upset.

I don't find the actor who plays Assmore unattractive so them kissing doesn't bother me. Many younger women find older men more attractive and in a strange way I could see Dani who has obvious Daddy issues wanting someone like Ass. He has money, cache and will obviously dote on her, while allowing her the freedom she craves to flit here and there as she sees fit.

Gringo, I am still holding on to hope for my couple. I will not surrender!

Does anyone remember whether Assmore is married, divorced, or widowed? We know he has a married daughter (whom I am assuming is older than Miguel) but I don't remember anything being said about his current status. If he's married Daniela has no moral high ground to stand on either by this group's standards or the other characters' in the story.

Tk you AuntyAnn
I think I hate everyone in this novela with the exception of baby Erick.
The wonderful Julia raises a child & has absolutely no feeling for him. No wonder he is such a gillipollis. She & the holier than thou Art belong to each other. Eladio can come home with me.
She has every right to be mad, but good grief woman, it happened 25 years ago.

UA,

Thanks for reminding me about Caridad's marital status.

"Does anyone remember whether Assmore is married, divorced, or widowed?"

I've been wondering the same thing. I didn't even recall that he has a daughter. That just makes him that much more despicable to me. I'm surprised that news of their shenanigans haven't already emerged in the social media since she has become somewhat famous in her own right.

Carlos

Ashmore told Dani he's not into commitment, never has been. So I figure he's free and single to squire Dani.

I think Assmore is divorced. He mentioned no wife in his initial meeting with Art/Nina. So one can surmise there is no Mrs..at least that is my impression.

Variopinta..mileage certainly varies. Franco indeed happened 25 years ago, but he wasn't a one time incident. He lives and breathes and has been right under Julia's nose, being raised by her all these years without being told of his real identity. I think anyone would be rightly pissed and horrified. If Franco has been kept away with Caridad somewhere else, the blow would still be great but this situation is much worse to swallow. There's no indications she was every cruel or unloving to Franco. He seems to have some measure of affection for her which is telling. Eladio has a lot to atone for but I'm hoping with time, Julia will realize her own infidelities and lies and the marriage she has now with Eladio and together they work to overcome this betrayal. I love them together.

Art can DIAF (Die in a fire).

Variopinta- It didn't really happen 25 years ago. It kept happening FOR 25 years-- all the years Franco lived under her roof without her knowing who he was. With a dash of the past year, when Caridad worked for her and Eladio, tacked on. She has no reason not to think that Caridad and Eladio haven't resumed their affair and have been laughing behind her back.

Last night he said he was a commitment-phobe so I just assumed he had never been married. I too don't remember the mention of a daughter.

Leticia...I'll have to listen to I'd Rather Go Blind. The title sounds like pure raw pain.

And Sandy...you said beautifully what I thought about Consuelo's reactivity. "She had a chance to show grace and she blew it". Yes, the divorce question will have to come up, but wrong time, wrong place. In a cognitive therapy approach to marriage it says "the decision to behave fairly and agreeably no matter how your loved one treats you is terrifying." And maybe Consuelo was afraid she'd slip back into being a doormat...but still. The. Man. Just.Woke.Up.From.A.Coma. Take a deep breath and wait, Consuelo. And go nurse that baby. He's probably hungry.

I was talking about Ashmore. I always forget that while I'm replying to a comment, other comments may be being posted. Duh!

That baby is adorable. Since he's a few months old, I hope that means we'll see him around for a while.

If you want to hear pain...listen to "Love Hurts" by The Everly Brothers. When I hear it, it rips my guts out and leaves me in a puddle on the floor.

Leticia...wow .."her voice is pure emotion and blue". I love your words. You have described Etta perfectly. You can hear her soul when she sings. Sooo smooth. Etta makes you feel her words. Is "I'd Rather Be Blind" by Etta?

OKay.....love sings...Let me mention two more names...Al Green and Barry White. That's what I am talking about.

Thank you everyone for all the great comments and for the music too.

I only have my phone to comment with, which is why I usually don't comment. Too many misspellings and my finger falls to sleep. Anyway, I could not stop by to say gracias. Please know that I read all the recaps and every single comment even though I may not join in the conversation. It is a pleasure to be part of this group.

Hasta Pronto!

Yes, Susanlynn it is by Etta. Starts off "something told me it was over....."
I will try to find in youtube.

Yes Barry and Al Green, dont forget Teddy.

You have great taste in music!

Judy, yes raw pain. Real.

Leticia

The reason we know Assmore has a daughter is that Arturo put whatever it was to pay him off in his son-in-law's name ... but we don't know whether he's married, divorced or widowed. Maybe his "commitment phobia" is just with his amantes.

Right, the funny money was going into Assmore's son in law's name, so he has at least one daughter.

Thanks. I thought I'd missed something.

Tonight's will be a little late. Sorry 'bout that.

http://youtu.be/u9sq3ME0JHQ

The above is Ms Etta James. "i'd rarher go blind"

Hope it works, my first time posting a link.

Leticia

Link posted just fine Leticia. I already found it and listened to it on youtube but I admire anyone who can post links! Drew me into a lot of old blues songs including another favorite "I've Got A Right to Sing the Blues"...All quite apt for our suffering Eladio and Julia. Not to mention a gazillion other characters in this show.

Don't be shocked if Purple Lips goes ahead with her plans & whacks Connie to take the baby!

I am missing the episode because I am enthralled with the earworms (thinking of you Mads) that Judy B mentioned, "quedate" by MS FABIAN And Nandicta's introduction to Dalida. What emotion!!!
I am grateful to you ladies for sharing something so beautiful. I had never heard if them before, it is gripping and "I am sick" perfectly describes someone that loves someone probably until death. You are right about Dalida, there is so much vulnerability and you can feel her pain. It must have been all too real for her since she committed suicide. I hope she has peace now.
Again thank you ladies. I am feeling so humbled, I better go see the show, after hearing these sad songs, even PyP seems cheerful.

Leticia

Leticia..ah..Teddy Pendergast. ..a wonderful, sensual voice...but a sad story.

NM,
"When Erick woke up, I couldn't help but compare the scene with Rulli's awakening from a 7-year coma in Lo que la vida me robó – how he massaged his powerful thighs, and then went running right into downtown Buenos Aires, muscles rippling, a dazed expression on his astonishingly handsome face. Now THAT"S how you come out of a coma! Hee hee."

Absolutely priceless! Yes, I could watch Rulli be in a coma, wake up from coma, over and over and never get tired. I miss him, anyone know when my sore eyes can feast on him again?
