Comments:
So is anyone watching Quien? It looked interesting but I haven't been able to watch yet this week. Wondering if anyone had thoughts on it. I'd love to get back to a Telemundo show, even if it is an early one.

FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode 47, 2nd Half, Thursday, 2/11/16, Part 1:
Kerim and Fatmagul go on a mini road trip to spend some time together, clear the air, and reconnect. Kerim tells Fatma that he’s taking her to a restaurant he first came to with his mother and father when they were on vacation when he was a little boy. He visits it every time he comes to Istanbul. Fatma gets suspicious and asks if he’s ever brought Kristen there. Kerim smiles and asks Fatma if she’s jealous, then says he can’t remember whether or not he’s taken Kristen (that would be a yes).

It starts to rain cats and dogs throughout Istanbul and all the surrounding areas, but everyone is occupied this rainy day. Kadir and Meryem spend some alone time in the house, drinking hot chocolate and sharing memories. They speak of Kerim, and Meryem says she thinks it’s time they all go their separate ways and live in separate homes. She’s thinking of moving back to the village. Kadir tries not to panic. He tells her, “We all need you. We’d feel incomplete without you.” He puts his hand on hers, but the moment is broken when Mukaddes, Rahmi and Murat return home from the movies. The closeness of Kadir and Meryem does not escape Mukaddes, and she just has to make all kinds of underhanded comments and insinuations.

In Casa Yasaran, Resat, with Selim’s help, is tearing the house apart, looking for where Perihan hid the blackmail info. She’s loving it. Selim tells Resat that he thinks Perihan is just bluffing- she would never turn them in. Resat isn’t so sure. “She always does things behind my back. I don’t trust her or her brother (Munir). Everyone wants to betray me. No one is on my side!” Munir comes over, and tells Resat he has good news for him. They go out.

Erdogan spends the day stalking the doctor. He pretends he’s a jogger, like she is. He drops some lame lines on her about love at first sight and the story they’ll tell their grandkids someday, and convinces her to go out to eat with him. He drops her off at home, and although he seems to have made some progress, she still seems skeptical (even says he seems obsessed with her). Run, doctora, run!

Fahrettin, and his right-hand man Mumtaz, pick Deniz up from the airport. She’s happy to be in Turkey and eager to see her brother, Kerim! She seems like a sweet, bubbly girl.

Mustafa’s sight has finally cleared from the pepper spray, but the interrogation hasn’t stopped. The supposed police refuse to let him speak to a lawyer. They tell him his fisherman friend already told them everything. They know he and Hacer are planning to escape the country. They play bad cop-bad cop (no good cop here), and really keep the pressure up for hours. But Mustafa stays strong and denies killing Vural.

FATMAGUL- Thursday, Part 2:
Asu/Hacer meets Sami downstairs. She had intended to leave with him to make her own alternative escape plans, but then she sees Mustafa’s car still parked there. She worries about Mustafa, and gives Sami money to go find and rent her a small house. Sami wants to know if Mustafa is abusing her, but she sends him away on her errand without giving him any info about why she’s leaving Mustafa. The building caretaker tells her two guys took Mustafa in a van, and then she really worries. She calls Mustafa over and again. She even calls Meltem to find out if Mustafa is meeting with any of her people. Finally, there’s a knock at the door. Hacer answers and is surprised by who she sees.

The “cops” tell Mustafa that they are bringing his wife in right now. Later, they tell him that they have interrogated her and she told them everything. Mustafa first begs them to leave her alone. They tell him she just confessed. Mustafa finally breaks. He starts crying and spills the beans. “It was an accident! I didn’t want to kill him!” They record his confession with a cell phone, a video camera, AND have him write and sign one. Then they leave him alone.

Hacer’s visitor turns out to have been Leman, who wants to talk about Vural and Hacer’s pregnancy. She lies that Mustafa knows about the baby, but tells Leman honestly that Mustafa doesn’t want them spending time together. Semsi comes to get Leman. He wants her to stop bothering people, and reminds her that she’s sick. He takes her home, and Hacer starts calling Mustafa again. Sitting alone in the interrogation room, Mustafa hears his phone ringing. He tentatively makes his way out of the room and heads towards the ringing phone. He sees that he’s actually in an empty building, and it starts to dawn on him that he’s been duped. He finds his and Hacer’s passports and travel docs, along with his phone. He picks up the phone, sees he’s missed 38 calls from Hacer, and answers. She’s relieved to finally hear his voice. He only manages to tell Hacer that they fooled him, when he hears two cackling voices—Munir and Resat. They are having a good laugh standing in the doorway looking at Mustafa. “We’ve got you! It’s over. Now you’re in our hands.” Bwahahaha!!!

FATMAGUL- Thursday, Part 3:
The restaurant Kerim takes Fatma to is actually a rustic log restaurant attached to a series of guestrooms. The owner/manager is a sweet old man, and they are the only ones in the restaurant. They tell him that they are celebrating their wedding anniversary, and begin to order. Kerim makes a point of ordering water to drink, and selecting the same juice Fatma selects. They watch the rain through the window and begin to talk about a number of things on their mind—Kerim’s rotten attitude in general; his rotten attitude towards Meryem; and their disagreement about Mustafa. Fatma makes a series of good points. “You’re mad at yourself and you’re taking it out on me…Just because I don’t think Mustafa killed Vural, doesn’t mean that I’m still in love with him. Mustafa isn’t a killer. (Well, she’s wrong on this point.)”

Kerim points out that Vural begged him to kill him. How does she know Mustafa didn’t give in, if Vural asked him to do the same? Fatma stays firm in her faith in Mustafa. She reminds Kerim that Mustafa had a few opportunities to kill Kerim and even her, and he didn’t do it. And if this anonymous person is so sure, why didn’t they contact the police? (Good points.) She’s sure the Yasaran were behind the call, trying to divide and conquer them before the next trial. (True.) Kerim agrees that she is likely right.

They move on to happier topics—food and their childhoods. Fatma says her mother was always too fragile and sickly to cook for them when they were kids. Kerim talks about how he was squeamish of eating fish with the heads on when he was a kid, and Meryem would take them off for him. He also had a problem with transposing letters (dyslexia?), and Meryem would read over every piece of homework with him to help him understand. If it weren’t for her, he would have never graduated from high school. Fatma jokes that he was coddled and spoiled by Meryem, but then points out that Meryem dedicated her life to Kerim. “Did she ever fall in love?” Kerim shares that Meryem was actually engaged to be married. But her fiancé’s mother disagreed with Meryem coming into the marriage with a small child (Kerim) and objected to the marriage. Meryem refused to give up Kerim, and argued with her future mother-in-law. Her fiancé broke up with her. Meryem tried to hide her sadness, but Kerim knows she cried a lot, especially when her ex married someone else.

Fatma is moved by this story. “You mean everything to her. You know that, right? She didn’t give you the letter because she wanted to protect you. What would you have done (in her place)? Is it her fault your father abandoned you and didn’t call you? Why can’t you put yourself in her place?” It seems some of this is finally getting through Kerim’s thick skull.

The restaurant/hotel owner comes to tell them that with the rain and flooding, all the roads are closed. They will have to spend the night. They decide to call the family so that they won’t worry. Kerim decides to call, and for the first time since the letter revelation, he speaks to Meryem. At the end of the call, he sends her kisses. She is visibly moved.

The owner takes Kerim and Fatmagul to their cabin/room. They ask him if he has a second room. He doesn’t understand. He though they were married, right? Kerim confirms that they are. In any case, all the other rooms are taken. This is the ONLY room. He opens the door, and Kerim and Fatma both stare at the double bed in the center of the room with apprehension and unease.

-End of episode.

My schedule is showing no "Quien es Quien" tomorrow to cover the Pope's visit to Mexico. I haven't heard anything about anything else being preempted, but keep an eye out.

Thanks, Rain, for the heads-up. I just checked the Telemundo schedule for Feb. 12 on the web, and it shows only Quién being preempted by the Pope's visit. Eva and La Querida del Centauro will apparently be shown at the normal time. I found this information here.

EVA – Jueves – Parte 1 de 2

Well, my DVR did it again. Skipped the 6:00 showing completely, forcing me to watch it and make notes on the 9:00 show. We’ll see how much energy I have.

Betty goes nuts and enlists her friend Marisol to find out who’s kissing Pablo.

Sofía is delighted that her mother is coming home. She must miss the slaps.

Bobby shows up to ask Pancho if he could get him tickets to a sold-out soccer game since he’s one of the owners of the L..A. Coyotes. Pancho offers the tickets plus to take him to meet the team in person at one of their training sessions.

Carmen is back to hating Eva. She says she’s going to “cut off the head” of Marlene.

Bobby wants to invite Adriana either to the training or to the game. But she’s not home. She’s with AA of course.

Marlene says she has a drastic plan to get back in Eva’s good graces.

Pablo begs Eva to come in for coffee when she brings him home from the hospital. Stalker Betty takes some more cell phone photos.

Andy the Asquerosa and Adriana the Abhorrent Adolescent give me an upset stomach with their high jinks in bed. I can’t stand his beard. It covers his whole face and neck. Ugh!

Chivo calls AA and tells him this is the night he finishes off Carmen.

Betty follows Eva in her car to Mon-Sol and learns her first name when an employee addresses her.

Eva has Marta, the office assistant research a good divorce lawyer.

Marlacula’s big plan is to tell Eva how much it hurts that she’s lost her confidence and that she must therefore resign. Cold as ice, Eva accepts, effective immediately. And she gives her 3 months to move from the Guest House!

Marlene is forced to tell Armando about how her plan blew up in her face. He tells her that his wife is really good for being good, but for being bad she’s as hard as a rock.

Armando is drinking with Evancio and tells him he wishes Eva was the way she was before. Betty sends a photo of Pablo and Eva kissing in front of his house. He goes nuts. Evancio basically tells him: What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

¿Quién es Quién?

I'm liking this more and more, it starts out a little shaky but after the actors get their rhythm, it just keeps getting better, and there are twists and turns, and a dark story woven in, but the comedy is good too, like when the chauffeur was pleading not to be fired because of his kids, but you don't have any kids, but I will, and imagine what it will be like with their dad not having a job.

and Eugenio Siller is doing a good job at portraying two guys at opposite ends of the spectrum, and why do they look alike if they are not related, so many questions, so much to discover.

only 3 shows this week, and full recaps at that other site.

EVA – Jueves – Parte 2 de 2

Marlene puts on a big show of anger when she finds A and AA in her bed. She pretends to throw AA out. The servants overhear the fight and have Eva come see with her own eyes. Marlene tells Eva she found them in her bed and is throwing her brother out.

Adriana tells her mother she went to bed with AA just like her mother went to bed with her lover. Slap! She locks the brat up in her room.

Armando climbs the fence and starts up with the cuernos again. They have a huge fight. She tells him that if he wants to know how long she’s been sleeping with Pablo, well, it’s starting this very night. He raises his hand, but she’s got a heavy piece of ceramic and he backs off.

Eva goes to her daughter and tries to reason with her. She tells her AA is bad news and that she loves her very much.

Sofía goes out for food since Carmen is griping about the hospital food. Chivo comes in and puts something in Carmen’s saline solution (from a hypodermic given to AA by Marlacula). Carmen doesn’t have 9 lives. Chivo drops the hypo on the stairs.

Eva is at Pablo’s drinking red wine. She has thought better of her plan and says that, since he’s a gentleman, he’ll tell her to go home now since she came for spite. Well, he doesn’t send her home.

Marlene figures out that Armando is really still jealous of Eva, although he denies it. Marlene also figures out that Eva didn’t send the picture; it was some other woman in Pablo’s life.

Eva

so sorry I posted in the middle of your recap, I hate doing that,

and sorry for your DVR problems but did it give us a feisty recap, I loved it!

so Betty and Marisol who work in the DA's office couldn't put together running Eva's license plate?

"Sofía is delighted that her mother is coming home. She must miss the slaps." Ha!

so if you name your daughter Marta, will she grow up to be an office assistant, or do they have other names, I remember this because the first novela I watched it was Marta.

loved Eva firing Marlene!

I think Chivo bumping into people in hospitals may surpass the slap count, Evencio was drunk, but did see the syringe that Chivo dropped.

wow, Marlene zeroed right in on a jealous woman sending the pic, she should be a profiler.

Soraya and Pancho are thrilled, and so nice there wasn't a body rolling down the stairs, they should pick Bobby up at home in a golf cart.

Eva

Novelera, your DVR's misbehavior hasn't prevented you from writing another excellent recap. If my recorder (a primitive VCR) did that...arrgh, I don't even want to think about it!

Loved your remark about Sofia's missing Carmen's slaps. I guess she'll have to find another slapper to replace her. On this novela, that shouldn't be hard.

Actually, I was surprised and disappointed that El Chivo succeeded. I expected that either Sofia or Evancio would Arrive Just in Time. But while the bump count isn't nearly as high as the slap count, I'm hopeful that either Sofia or Evancio may be helpful in identifying the killer (and, in Sofia's case, perhaps connecting Andy to El Chivo as well). I'm glad that Evancio saw the syringe on the stairs, though I half expected him to pick it up and thus become the Prime Suspect. I'm glad this novela isn't using all the clichés.

So, following deb's reasoning from a day or so ago, if Andy the Asqueroso knocks up Adriana the Abhorrent Adolescent, does she give birth to AAAAA?

Eva

Deb, I loved your comments. I laughed out loud at "so nice there wasn't a body rolling down the stairs"! Of course, it's still possible. We mustn't give up hope.

Fatma: Thanks Vivi, splendid recap as usual. Both Kerim and Fatma seem apprehensive about that bed looming large in the bedroom, lol. Deniz is a sweetheart. I loved her at first sight so a bubbly and chatty Katy. And Erdo is a stalker buthe forgot his life is an open book these days, run Doctora run and do not stop to collect $200.I can not wait for today's recap. I am home today and watched live.
Romy

Eva. Despite the DVR malfunction, excellent recap, novelera! What I don't understand is why Eva doesn't ask Pablo and Martín about divorce lawyers. She may not know that Pablo was investigating Mon-Sol, but she should know that Martín owns a detective agency, and that Pablo is a part-time law student, and divorce cases are part of their stock in trade. Also, the writers seem to be knocking themselves out putting barriers (e.g. pregnant stalker Betty) between Pablo and Eva. Otherwise, how could they stretch this tn out to 120 or so episodes? I must say that the thug who kills Carmen is exceptionally inept. And given the unexpected nature of Carmen's death, shouldn't her doctor automatically check what was in her iv?

EVA
¡Gracias! novelera. sorry to hear about your technical difficulties. Sounds like a real pain in the patoot and makes me even more grateful for your dedication in creating such a satisfying recap for us all. You rock!

"Andy the Asquerosa and Adriana the Abhorrent Adolescent" Hah!

Armando sure is a loose cannon. The way he flies off the handle is more than alarming. I guess those cuernos are giving him a headache. I liked your summary of Evencios's little homily about sauce for the goose. My hunch is he'll rescue his reputation by fingering Carmen's murderer—if he can only keep himself off the sauce and out of trouble, it might enhance his credibility. At least he didn't touch the dropped syringe. I hope they investigate.

Eva

I was also sighing out loud about Stalker Betty and her bun in the oven being inserted into the novela. As if Eva and Pablo didn't have enough problems with everyone noting the age difference. But we in Viewerville just have to accept that there will ALWAYS be an impediment to the happy ending for the protagonists in telenovelas. In Bajo it was Rodrigo falling in love with Adela after they'd surprised me by Felicia's pregnancy not being the normal clichéd separation device.

As far as the DVR thing is concerned, I WAS able to record the whole show. The issue is that I have a big advantage having DirecTV in California. I have a longish commute and seldom get home before 7:00. So having the DVR chugging away recording the 6:00 East Coast feed means I don't have to watch and thus record so late in the evening. Writing it up after 10:00 makes me less willing to be detailed, throw in some fun Spanish, etc.

I'm trying to get in touch with my Chinese-Peruvian TV guy. He's fluent in 3 languages: English, Spanish, and Cantonese. There's apparently a huge Chinese community in Lima, and Fernando was born in Peru and was a part of that community until he emigrated to the US. He's honest, punctual, and can call DirecTV on their Spanish 800 number and get through a LOT faster.

FATMAGUL:

Romy- I hope the Doctora's googling skills are strong, and she finds out soon what kind of guy Erdogan is. Blech!

That bed certainly was looming large in that room. I think both of their eyes went wide. LOL! The innkeeper was so confused about why a young married couple needs two rooms.

Haven't seen today's episode, and headed out tonight. But JdesdeNYC says she will do a recap for today's episode, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Eva la trailera... epi 13, friday

after a talk with Pablo, Eva calls home and has Tia unlock Adriana's bedroom door, then they make love, and in the glow they do pillow talk, (these two are so cute together) and Pablo breaks down and tells her the truth about himself, nope, Eva gets a call from Evencio with news of Carmen's death,

(hmm, there is not one suspicious soul at the hospital over Carmen's death)

Betty's friend gives her a dossier on Eva, while Betty brings them beers, no beer for you, her friend tells her.

bobby had fun with the Coyotes, his dad's ok with it, his mom not, Robert mentions to Cinthia, that if he doesn't get his hands on some of Pancho's chorizo money, they'll be moving to a small house in the suburbs.

little miss Adriana has packed her bags and calls Andy to take her away from all this, nope, I'm busy.

Eva and Pablo go to the hospital, Armando also gets the call and is on his way, Marlene smiles.

sad scenes at the hospital, of course Armando only has eyes for Pablo, but Eva keeps them apart, telling Armando, this is how it is, get used to it.

and Arnulfo makes another break for it, this time to the underworld, keeping Pablo and Soraya up all night saving him.

Carmen's funeral is the next day, Adrian refuses to go making a scene which winds up Fabiola, no fight, no fight.

Sofia is at the funeral first followed by Armando, suffering terribly she tells him how all alone she feels, that she still loves him, can we get back together, nope, and your baby sure isn't showing, he says, and walks away.

Marlene comforts Eva and tells her she can count on her unconditionally,
I don't believe her.

Andy arrives with Adriana, Armando flips and drags her off for a chat, but she is a woman now.

Andy sits but, Ding! the lights go off in Sofia's eyes, (not quite sawdust for brains as Marlene had her figured) who is that guy she asks, Marlene's worthless younger brother, Tia tells her.

Eva gets Andy alone and gets in his face, you hurt my daughter and you'll regret it, he acts tough as he slinks away.

Betty shows up at Mon-Sol to drop the hammer on Eva with Armando but they aren't there.

Soraya has read about the funeral in the morning paper and she shows up with Pancho, Marlene slithers up while she is comforting Eva, and Soraya looks like she has the chills, and lets Eva know in no uncertain terms, that lady is evil.

later, bobby overhears Adriana talking about going off to college with her boyfriend, breaks his heart, his mom thinks it's a good thing, she'd found someone with a good name, and bobby is way too good for her, who rolls his eyes and shows up on Pancho's door step asking for some advice, man to man, (Pancho just bubbles with goodness)

Andy stops at home to pick up Chivo's money, leaves him in the car when Pablo brings Eva home, Chivo is all eyes looking at the cop that killed his brother..

Eva

oops,

Fridays show was "Capítulo 14"

Eva

Great recap, deb! I especially enjoyed your "Arnulfo makes another break for it, this time to the underworld."

I found it touching that Bobby seeks out Pancho rather than the man he thinks of as his father for some man-to-man advice.

What's up with Pablo? Why does he come to the funeral in what looks like a work-out shirt?

I'm glad that Sofia recognized Andy as the guy she bumped into at the hospital. I think she also caught a glimpse of El Chivo with Andy. Maybe even twice? Perhaps she'll be the one to unravel what really happened to her mother.

Deb, how did you know that the guy Pablo killed was El Chivo's brother? It's clear that El Chivo recognizes him and hates him, but I don't remember El Chivo saying anything more than that he was Pablo Contreras. We see the scene in which Pablo shoots someone, but I didn't realize that the guy was El Chivo's brother.

Eva. Great recap, Deb! I too find it amazing that the only hospital in LA didn't do an autopsy of Carmen or at least check her iv tubes! Also 2 tn cliches in this episode--(1) When Pablo is about to tell all to Eva about his investigative activities at Mon-Sol and the phone rings, as you note, and (2) when the only thug in LA just happens to be waiting for his blood money from Marlene exactly at the moment Pablo shows up. I believe that at some point Pablo had explained the whole business about shooting the bad guy whose gang he had infiltrated, about how the other bad guy had killed Pablo's wife in revenge, but there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute, etc., etc. It was complex enough that they really should have repeated it at some point. It's kind of cool how the actor playing Bobby and the actor playing Pancho look enough alike that they could be father and son. Pancho seems to be bringing out some kind of innate decency in Bobby--he doesn't seem like such a spoiled jerk any more.

Eva

thanks guys!

Juanita- well... I thought they said that once, that they were brothers, but I'm kind of guessing, Chivo was in the back seat at the time, and got arrested, but later got off.

SpanProf- good point about Bobby.

Eva

Thanks, deb, for the explanation. You tend to have a much better recollection of the details than I do.

BTW, I'm really glad that Soraya warned Eva quite forcefully about Marlene. I'm sure Marlene still has schemes in her bag of tricks to win back Eva's trust.

If we were much further along in the telenovela, Sofia would tell Eva that she saw Andy (perhaps with another guy) twice at the hospital, and Eva would follow the dots to Marlene, and from there... But, alas, we're only on capítulo 14.

EVA

Thanks deb! You sure know how to pack a lot of nuanced detail into your snappy recaps. That was great! We finally got to see pobre de Fabiola again last night. She's freaking and Adriana sure wasn't helping any. I wonder how much the girl understands, or if she's just picking up on the ugly vibe. They already issued a death cert. But what was the cause of death? Surely they must have investigated. Carmen was already to be discharged! What's wrong with the only hospital in LA?

Glad Bobby is not so snobby. I loved his puppy-doggish affection for Pancho. The poor kid's been so deprived by his social-climbing ma and his conniving pa.

Juanita, I concur about Sofia telling Eva her hunches, so Eva could follow the dots,,, but as you say, "alas, we're only on capítulo 14."

Eva

Deb, you're a trouper for putting up another terrific recap this week!

I also liked Sofía remembering seeing Andy twice at the hospital. If he wanted to be more incognito, he should shave his neck.

I really, really hope they aren't going with Adriana saying te odio to her mother throughout the whole novela.

Loved the scene with Bobby and Pancho. Pancho is great at being supportive to Bobby without freaking him out with too much affection too soon. Soraya was giving the creeps, at least early on.

Speaking of Soraya, good on her for telling Eva how she feels about Marlene. I had been very worried that Marlene's expertly orchestrated impromptu performance of outrage at her brother sleeping with Adriana would turn the tide.

I also thought Pablo's attire at the funeral was weird. And he really shouldn't have come at all. There was bound to be a scene with Armando, although this one was less explosive than his other outbursts.

Yep, they surely don't do the medical profession any favors in TNs. It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't look into the death of a woman they'd just said had made an astonishingly quick recovery from being run down by a car and being in a coma.

I'm curious about Fabiola's hand movements. I don't really know any autistic children and suppose this must be a recognized symptom. She does it sometimes even when not distressed, sort of moving her fingers oddly and looking at them rather than at the person addressing her.

FATMAGUL

I accidentally put Friday's recap in the last thread. I'll repost it here.

Fatma: I realized I commented there too. I will repost too

Fatma: Thank you J. When I first saw this episode I was happy they didn't make Fatma and Kerim share the room. I still say it's too soon even if they slept with their clothes on. Fatma is not ready. People were saying Kerim could have slept on the chair but no, I think Fatma is still too fragile for that closeness. Muka of course was implying all kind of inappropriate hanky panky. She's so crass, ugh. The vagrant frightened poor Fatma to death. Her blood curling screams was horrible to hear. I am happy Erdo's secret is out to the doc whatever she decides to do at least she knows about the rape.

FATMAGUL

Reposted from first Telemundo thread with some corrections.

Part I of II

Fatma and Kerim are forced to share a bedroom at the inn they visited due to torrential rain. Fatma looks at the small room with the big spacious bed in shock. Kerim begs the innkeeper for another room and nearly gets it but the innkeeper has to accomodate stranded tourists.

Munir tells Mustafa there's no hope for him since he has his and Hacer's passports. They finally will have to do what he says. Hacer calls Mustafa at this moment and Mustafa angrily waves off her worry. "We'll talk when I get home," he exclaims.

Fatma and Kerim play twenty questions to "get to know each other better," Kerim says, obviously trying to calm Fatma's fear of sharing a bed with him. They ask each other basic questions, their favorite foods and colors; childhood teachers and best friends. They get to the nitty gritty after Kerim asks how she met Mustafa. She met him at school and he made her cry by pulling her hair. Fatma asks him if he still wants to break up with her. Kerim says "No." Kerim asks Fatma if she loves him. He quickly retracts the question, apologizing to Fatma for "forcing her," and runs out the room to the inn's fireplace. With Kerim out the room, Fatma answers the question. "Sí, te amo," "Yes, I love you."

Back in Istanbul, Kadir and Meryem are speaking, and as always, the metiche de Mukkades is listening in from the stairwell, eating a snack as if she's watching a soap opera. Kadir tells Meryem that he'll be more aggressive since the trial is in three weeks. He reported the mysterious call Kerim received and he will also file it away in their records. It won't help their legal case as anyone could have made that call. Farrehtin calls Meryem and lets her know his daughter, Kerim's sister, wants to meet him.

Part II of II

Erdogan speaks on the phone with the doctor he's been stalking on social media. They speak for an hour and plan a date. The good doctor begins to Google search Erdogan and sees the rape accusations reports.

Fatma goes downstairs to the inn's fireplace to look about Kerim. She finds him already sneezing from being soaking wet. She implores him to go up to their room to change and dry his clothes while she stays by the fireplace. Kerim refuses, saying he'll dry off by the fireplace and leave her comfortably in the room.

After threatening Mustafa, Munir and Resat get him to work for them until the trial. When he gets home Mustafa explains the elaborate trap los Yasaran set for him. They had some paroled criminals they know pretend to be police and they compelled Mustafa to confess to killing Vural.

Hacer tells him to turn himself in so as not to be the Yasaran's slave. If he doesn't he will always be their lapdog. Mustafa refuses because los Yasaran think Hacer helped him and she will get in trouble as well. Hacer ponders aloud what if she confesses his crime to the police. Mustafa says outright he will kill her if she does. "I have no doubt you would do it," Hacer says, finally realizing that "Me, Me Me Mustafa," (thanks, Vivi) will always look out for number 1, himself, and never her. Later, when Mustafa is asleep, she looks at her packed suitcases and makes a call. She quietly flees the apartment and has Sami pick her up. "Get me out of here," she simply tells her only friend.

In Ankara are Ender and Meltem and Meltem gets a call from her cousin Gaye. She tells Gaye she picked up Turaner's personal effects from his office. Meltem then calls Mustafa to see if he's alright since Hacer called her worried he was missing. He lies to Meltem that he came home late after meeting with shareholders all day but he's fine. He seeks out Hacer and finds she's gone. All that remains is a "dear John" letter. "Don't call me, don't follow me; don't condemn me to this suffering," the letter implores.

At the inn, Fatma wakes up to find out from one of the tourists that Kerim went out with the innkeeper and the other male guests to clear the road before the inn of all the debris the storm left behind. As he drives back from clearing the road with the innkeeper, Kerim is obviously sick as he sneezes. He tells the innkeeper he slept by the inn fireplace to dry off but still got sick. The innkeeper wonders why he didn't sleep with his wife. Kerim says it's a complicated issue. They will have a real wedding in spring.

Fatma walks in the woods around the inn enjoying the scenery. She calls home to Istanbul and marvels to them how pretty the area is. As soon as she hangs up, Fatma encounters a homeless man who follows her rambling. Fatma is of course horrified and starts running scared through the woods. "Help me!" she loudly exclaims as the man continues following her.

END OF CAPITULO, END OF WEEK.

FATMAGUL:

JdesdeNYC- Gracias for this fab recap!!! I really enjoyed the game of 20 questions, especially since it led to Fatma admitting to herself, if not to Kerim, that she's in love with him. Progress!

I felt bad that Kerim had to sleep in the uncomfortable chair in the dining room, but he was being a gentleman and it was totally appropriate for their situation. It was funny when the innkeeper asked if they should be expecting Fatma's family coming after them, since apparently their marriage wasn't approved by them. Yeah, it's complicated, dude.

That guy chasing Fatma is clearly not a threat, but she can't help but be terrified since the situation is so reminiscent of the night/morning she was raped.

Mustafa continues to be a gutless wonder when it really counts. Yep, it's all always about him, and I'm glad Hacer finally realizes that and left him. But now she's in danger too, since the Yasaran want to make sure she keeps her mouth shut. Now that Mustafa has found the ultrasound, will that make him any more protective of Hacer?

They made sure we noted that Hacer is staying in the same hotel as Fahrettin and Deniz. Surely they're paths will intersect.

FATMAGUL:

I notice that my dvr recording schedule shows that Fatmagul doesn't come on again until NEXT THURSDAY. Mon-Wed Telemundo will show Pope coverage during the day. (Not happy about this!) What is odd is that the episodes go back to 2 hour episodes on Thursday and continue that way for the foreseeable future. But we've just ended in the middle of episode 48. That would make Thurs' episode the last half of 48, plus the first half of 49. Not sure when they'll get back to being on track with the Turkish episodes' beginning and end.

Eva

Novelera, a good friend of mine has an autistic son. He's now an adult, but when he was about Fabiola's age or a few years older, he and his parents came to visit. He was continually moving his hands and fingers about, not on his head, as we see with Fabiola, but just holding his hands in front of him and moving them about and moving all his fingers about, almost as if he were playing a complicated piano piece. I was later told that such movement is very common among autistic children.

Fatma

I thought it was a little pushy for Kerim's dad to ask that Deniz be allowed to see Kerim knowing that Kerim doesn't want anything to do with him. I can see that she will be the bridge between father and son (I've seen this ploy before) but I thought dad's steps were over reaching at this point. Also didn't like her calling Kerim on her on...she's going to be an annoying little sister :>) I guess she's suppose to be a teen and they do impulsive things.

Too bad Fatma wasn't ready to admit to Kerim she loves him. I'm sure the setting (the big bed in the little room) had something to do with her hesitancy among all the other things she's dealing with. The homeless guy chasing her was so unfortunate.....a set back/reminder...not a good thing now since she was making so much progress.

I hate Mukka. So why is she so concerned about everyone else's love life. She was so concerned with Fatma and Kerim sharing a bed. Again, she's showing no regard for the trauma that Fatam went thru.....and she's so crude with her approach which makes her more annoying and tacky.

Yes...the Inn-keeper's response to the complicated situation was funny.... He hoped that their family wasn't going to come looking for them with guns...Priceless!

Can someone give me the details of the conversation between Mukka and Ebe around this subject of Kerim/Fatma being together all night. And if she thought F&K were getting busy...why would she call them...so tasteless. Ebe said something about Mukka's tonto actions....and then closed the door on her. I didn't understand Mukka's reference to Rommy at the end of the conversation,... what did she say? OH yeah...I hate Mukka.

Glad the Dr. took advantage of social media...like her stalker is doing. She's intelligent....here's to hoping she has good instiancts and can smell a rat when she reads about one,

MEstafa (thx for whoever coined this phrase).....is the real tonto here. How could he confess to anything so serious and condemning without a lawyer....regardless of the supposed confessions of this wife and friend. But he deserves what's coming to him at the hands of the Yassarans. He should never have taken their help in the beginning knowing the rumors about them and the incident...even if he did believe the lies about Fatma. I don't feel sorry for him. Asu is showing signs of self preservation....hopefully she doesn't loose her instincts and stays away.

I say this about the actress playing Fatma...she's got to be in good shape....she's done an awful lot of running in this show. First...all the runs along the beach to see MEstafa....then running from Meltam...and now the homeless guy. I wonder if she had to train for this.

FATMAGUL:

Nett- If something is pure and good (like the feelings between Kerim and Fatma, or Kadir and Meryem), then Mukaddes wants to twist it and make it crude, dirty and base. If things are going well and are good, she wants to ruin them and make them bad. She is a crude, base, and unhappy person, and she wants everyone else to be dragged down and be in the same condition or worse than her.

Meryem basically just told Mukaddes that even if it were the end of the world, Mukaddes would never change or stop saying ridiculous things. Mukaddes was also very eager to tell Fatma and Kerim about his sister wanting to see him, and Meryem told her she better not do it.

Fatma

Vivi...thanks for that detail. For some reason I thought Mukka said hermano....and not hermana and I didn't make the connection. I'll have to revist that part on-demand. Mukka obviously is loose and of low standards and morals...that's why she was unwed and pregnant by a man that was just using her. She in turn has used Rommy and appears to take out her misery on others and unfortunately, Fatma has been the recipient of this. She has not shown any sympathy for what Fatma went thru so I guess she wants her to be loose and easy like her....but Fatma is a better person than her. She carries herself better....it's unfortunate that she was victimized and had no one in her corner with strength and compassion until Ebe came along. Mukka just took advantage of the situation.....Did I mention that I hate Mukka.

By the way....it sucks that Telemundo is only carrying 5 episodes on demand and not all episodes to date. They have all the episodes of a couple of novelas that weren't all that great with poor acting and routine boring plot lines. Fatmagul is more compelling with great acting...but they are not keeping all epis up...go figure. I don't know how they decide those things.

FATMAGUL
Nett, ITA about how Telemundo has given this show short shrift by not having all the episodes available. I think the problem might be the agreement Telemundo might have made with the Turkish production company Yapim Films. This might be their way to prevent bootlegging since a number of Turkish novelas are available online. That being said, by limiting the number of eps on demand this novela will be limited in impact and popularity. I remember when La Patrona came on Telemundo and people had vids of it up within minutes of it airing on the East Coast; Telemundo stopped someone from posting who had it up thirty mins after it aired, but didn't stop people who uploadrd three to twelve hours later. That didn't stop it from being a worldwide popular hit. It was still a uber hit in Mexico and Latin America and the rest of the world even though thousands of people were watching online months before. Fatmagul should have been in primetime in Telemundo because Eva and Quien es Quien are not of quality as it is.

Mukaddes is just messy. She just likes to be in everyone's business while you can't touch her messy business-she is a married woman with TWO baby daddies. Every time she speaks, I literally say "shut up."

I love that Kerim insisted on getting another room and moved to the inn's lobby when they were stuck with the room. He's really showing he's not a lech and he respects Fatma's space.

I like Deniz. I think Farehttin was trying to stop her from being pushy but she seems to just want to meet her big brother and I can't blame her for that. She doesn't have anything to do with the rift and meeting Kerim won't exacerbate it. I think Kerim is only as mad as he is at Farehttin because he got hit with all the information about his parents' marriage within hours of getting out of jail for a murder he didn't commit against a man who raped his wife. Of course, he was acting foolish.

I loved that Fatma admitted to herself she loved Kerim. I think she has to tell him, though, because he's so desperate to know he's not compelling her to stay in a marriage she doesn't want. She has to say to him definitively "I'm here because I want to be here, not because I'm forced to be here." He's well attuned to her love language so she has to be a bit more demonstrative with her feelings and words towards him if she wants him to be less insecure.

FATMAGUL:

J- So true that Fatma needs to use Kerim's love language and tell him how she feels. But very huge that she's admitted it to herself.

I don't understand why Telemundo is not leaving these episodes up On Demand longer either. One week makes no sense, even if there was some kind of strict agreement between them and the Turkish network. It just makes it harder to get more viewers. That's the opposite of what they should want.

Fatma: I have to say the women in this show are giving women a bad name from horrible Mukka to the 3 rapists mothers, to Meltem and Asu. Fatma had made big progress just by surviving this horror with no one in her corner, Rahmi is sweet but useless. She is not ready to tell "I love you" Kerim yet because she has to get use to it first. She was criticized a lot and called "Fatmacold" by viewers but my goodness barely a year has passed since this naive and virgin village girl was savagely raped men. A year! and she is getting close to a man that is all she can give right now

Fatma

So..."Fatmacold". Interesting response....especially from the country of origin given it's conservative values. If you watch enough talk shows...at least here in the states....you understand that many women, never get over the trauma of such a traumatic event and never deal with men at all intimately. So to expect Fatma to quickly run into any man's arms, especially to one who was there and watch regardless of his mental state....is unreasonable and inconsiderate. And don't forget, he detained her that night even if he didn't have mal intentions...but that started off the chain of events. I get this story has more than one theme...and was probably billed as a love story...so the audience was waiting and wanting that to unfold rapidly. But there are other messages and themes in this story...and Fatma's triumph over the event and acceptance of Kerim took time as a reasonable person would eexpect it to in real life. I guess those who labeled her "Fatmacold" would have been back in the saddle the very next day. Maybe it was a bunch of clueless men who came up with that label....no need to say more then.

FATMAGUL:

I'd like to say I'm surprised that the original audiences felt like Fatma should have warmed up to Kerim sooner, but I'm not. (E.g. I could never get on board with the marital rape made to look like passion in Lo Que la Vida Me Robo, but audiences eat that up as romance. Whatever.) I really appreciate the realism they have used in this tn, and the way they have stuck to a realistic timeframe for all the developments. Fatma has come such a LONG way from that horrible night/morning. I hope she reflects on that, and gives herself credit.

ITA about the women. Thank God for Meryem/Ebe Nine! What would have become of poor Fatma if it hadn't been for her? I shudder to think. Mukaddes would have tortured her regularly AND let the Yasaran have their way with her, as long as her bank account got fat, and clueless Rahmi would have just let it happen.

Fatma

VIvi...forgot about this common theme of marital rape....but I should not have especially given the country of origin. Just discovered and finished watching several episodes of Sila...another popular Turk TN. (I hope this is not a spoiler....it's not being aired on one of our networks now). I was annoyed that when Sila offered herself to her husband, he turned her away because she was drunk. Few nights later, he himself drunk, raped her our of jealousy.

These conservative cultures still think of women/children as something they own and have a right to control and can do what they want with. I also think the conservative views of these cultures are so full of hipocracy...and they need to drop the act. They are only conservative when it comes to how they want their women to act out of controlling them..... but the men thoughts, actions and wants are no need conservative and they act out on them at will.

Found an interesting Turk TN on Netflix titled "Bliss". Very similar to Fatmagual in that a poor village girl was raped but a family member ordered her death for shaming the family. I won't give away the whole story but her supporter was a surprise and her escape an adventure. Wasn't a bad movie.

Nett

Fatma: Vivi and Nett, most of he original audience adored Kerim and were livid that Fatma did not return his love as fast as they would have preferred. They bombarded the Twitter of the writers with rude and nasty comments, smh. I know it's fiction but I was absolutely pained for Fatma. I never watched the rape episode again. I can't do it so never mind me being angry she's not saying I love you to someone who was instrumental in her rape a year later. In most so called conservative societies the men make the rules and violate them as they see fit. Fatma is based on a movie from the 70's and in it the husband did rape Fatma and was absolutely horrible. The screenwriters changed the story for the small screen, thank God. I am glad they are being realistic as they can with Fatma's therapy and how she will, if ever, be able to be physical with a man.

FATMAGUL

Nett, even though the writers have taken pains to show the trauma of a rape victim, the female audience, most of whom, thank God, had never been raped seemed to sympathize more with Kerim than with Fatma and that also drived me crazy. This is not a traditional fairytale and no matter Kerim's puppydog eyes, Fatma is still in recovery and should be shown doingbthe hard work it takes to recover.

That being said, I get why some are saying Fatma, at this stage of her recovery, needs to say more to Kerim to make him feel better. Since she has chosen to stay in the marriage, she has to accomodate herself to Kerim's love language, which are words and pda. That's why he offered the divorce a couple of eps back: he doesn't want her to feel as if he's forcing her to love him because he's so obviously in love with her and she can't match his ardor yet. In light of discovering his parents' marriage was forced, Kerim doesn't want his to have that appearance. Fatma doesn't have to sleep with him or even French kiss him but telling him to his face that she wants to be with him and initiating hand holding with him would go a long way. I think it is better she admitted to herself first that she loves him, she can tell him now. As someone willing to staying the marriage she has to affirm her love in a way he'll understand.

Re martial rape in Turkish novelas, I saw Sila online and to this very moment I am confused about how the writers had Boran refuse to to sleep with Sila when she wanted to but was drunk, then rape her the next night when she said no. And remember she had consented before the night she got drunk-she had told him that he didn't have to sleep on the floor anymore after Boran had taken care of her when she was sick. She had said yes TWICE and Boran didn't believe her but when she said no, he raped her. IT MADE NO SENSE. I literally watched the first eight caps two times to figure out the writers' logic and the best I could conclude was that they needed Sila to leave Boran and go back to the big city for some dramatic reason and they didn't care if it was in a way that was abhorrent and completely out of character for the galan.

FATMAGUL:

Sounds like Sila is a Turkish tn I will stay away from. LOL! Thanks for the warning, amigas.

FATMAGUL,

Vivi, the thing is Sila was actually very good and was a big PSA against honor killings and senseless tradition but the writers ruined the whole track of the novela with that rape. As I said, it was senseless. The galan was before and after the rape an extremely honorable guy, he had married Sila to prevent a honor killing, so the rape made absolutely no sense. The rape was used as a device to separate the leads, which makes it even more abhorrent on the writers' part.

FATMAGUL

Yes, Thank God for Ebe Nine/Meryem in Fatmagul's life. If not for her, Fatma would've killed herself after the rape while Mukaddes cheered her on for her sick entertainment. Mukaddes had hated Fatma before the rape. She was extremely jealous that Fatma was going to marry Mustafa because he was building her a house and Fatma would no longer be under her thumb as her live-in babysitter and housekeeper. Mukaddes was throwing shade at their marriage at the Musta/Fatma engagement dinner and Mustafa's parents were basically saying we love Fatma while Mukaddes was tearing her down. It was obvious that even though Fatma loved Mustafa, she was also getting married to leave from under Mukaddes thumb.
Erdogan's mother bothers me most because she never seemed to feel any sympathy for Fatma. Perihan did, and Leman did, but she is all about protecting Erdogan. No wonder he doesn't have a conscience;his mom doesn't.

Fatma

Rommy...its my understanding that the original movie was based on a book about a true story....so I see why the writer's make Kerim a lil less guilty and more likeable. Accepting the Kerim character is hard enuf...I know the original character who was guilty would have been too hard to take. But then again.....if they cried Fatmacold...for Kerim...maybe they would have been alright with the real character....guilty and all.

J desde NYC ...well....I get your assertion (and others) who say that Fatma needs to speak Kerims luv language. Why can't he learn to interpret her luv language and relax some...she's come a long way. I totally get where he's coming from....especially after the revelation about his parents.....but on the walk home from the river and reading that letter....she was clear.....she is committed to the marriage and doesn't feel trapped anymore. Also, the night of 20 questions...she was clearly pleased when he said he doesn't want to separate anymore. See her actions...she's a little more at ease around him.....and hear her words...she doesn't want to divorce....and continue to be patient and work together.

Sila...I get that the main couple has to be separated to drag out the drama....I'm no where near being a writer and I can come up with half dozen ways to separate them vs using rape.

I hate Mukka... So Mukka and Munir were absolutely cruel and horrible to Fatma in the begging as they bullied and maligned her. I mean pregnant-out of wed lock-Mukka threated her with ending up as a prostitute. So I agree....Fatma would have committed suicide a long time ago if it wasn't for Ebe.

Perihan is showing some human decency and compassion. The Y's are all in this cover up together but she is showing some remorse. I'm glad someone in that camp realizes what happened and what they're doing to Fatma is wrong. Perhaps if that family had some daughters instead of all sons....this would have played out differently (how would the writer's work around that and keep up the ruthlessness).

Nett

FATMAGUL:

J- So true about Hilmiye, Erdogan's mom.

Not sure why writers continue to use the marital rape device, without really diving into what a real affront and crime it is. They pay lip service to it being wrong, but then by the way they show the couple develop afterwards, it's clear that they are really saying it's ok because, oh, it was done because the guy is passionate/wounded/jealous, and it's all fine because they're married anyway and she loves him. The same bullhockey that keeps women locked in abusive relationships. I don't buy it.

I said from the beginning that I myself wouldn't be able to forgive Kerim for letting the rape happen with no fight or protest, if I were Fatma. The writers have done a good job of showing how they can get to a place of love, forgiveness, and trust. It's hard work, and they are not totally there yet. But I can see how they can get there, and I'm rooting for them. I'm very glad the writers didn't make him one of the rapists, like in the original story, because I would have never been able to support that journey.

Fatmagul

J, great job on the recap. ITA with thet comments of my Fatma peeps. Fatma is still fragile even though she has come a long way from the virgin who was raped by three men (dogs) while another observed the abuse, rejected by her fiance & family and mentally abused by her rapist and sister in law. Thank God fo Ebbe, who was the first female who befriended her. I melted in my chair when looking through a rain streaked window after Kerim left, she responded in saying to him "si te amo."

I respect the pope, but I am sorry this show will be pre emptied until Thur. I too think Telemundo could do a better job with their postings of this novella, there are too few and too late in posting.

We all hate Muka. Can't wait until Thur.

Fatma: Great comments from everyone and yes, we all hate Mukka now let's form a club, lol. It's a good thing I respect the pope too otherwise, I would be hopping mad at the preemption.
