Pasion y Poder #104 20160314 Seriously! Everyone in the TN is Stupid!

We return to the nursery where Gina is shooting daggers at Dani.  Gina doesn't approve of how Erick gained custody of the EJ (Erick Jr.).  Erick assures his sister that Connie is fine with him ripping her heart out of her a$$ by taking her baby.  He's given Connie permission to enjoy her daily supervised visits with his mother.

Gaby comes out of the bathroom.  No baby again.  Franco tells her that he is not in a hurry to knock her up until Eladio gives him the Gomez-Luna name.  Gaby wants to go to the gyno (geez, I got the willies just thinking about that!  I hate the gynecologist because it's just like going to the gynecologist!)  Franco says that Eladio won't give him the surname until he divorces Julia.  The thought of the divorce makes Franco frisky.  He pushes Gaby back down on the bed.

Meanwhile over at the Gomez-Luna mansion, Simona shows Art into the foyer.  Dave walks in just as Julia comes downstairs.  Dave immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion.   He thinks that Art has been disrespecting his dad by kickin' it with his mom in his dad's house.  Dave has a hissy fit and storms out.  Art tells her to save her breath until Dave calms down.  Julia asks why Art his there.  Before he can answer, Humberto plays the wing man and rolls in on his hover chair.  He tells Julia that Art came to visit him.  Art tries to appear completely innocent and clueless as Humberto defends him .  Anyways, Humberto quickly rolls off so the two can talk. He eavesdrops from behind a nearby wall.

At GLA Caridad and Marintia ambush Eladio and insist that he hold Mateo.  Eladio refuses to be manipulated and will not hold him.  As he reaches out to touch his grandson, he hears Dani call David's name out in the lobby.  Marintia hides while Eladio runs out to intercept Dave.  Eladio is saved when Dani asks to talk to Dave alone.  Anyways, Eladio runs back into the office and Marintia comes out of hiding.  Eladio tells Marintia to get out and to take his grandspawn with her.  Caridad takes the blame for inviting Marintia to the office. Eladio tells Caridad that she had better never try to force him to show feelings for his grandspawn again!  He can't risk anyone finding out who fathered that baby, so Matt and his mother are banned from GLA.

Art tells Julia that Humberto called him because Humberto was worried about her.  He's still in shock over his daughter's death.  Julia believes that Humberto is husband hunting for her because he doesn't want to die destitute.  He always brings the best husband candidates to her.  He did it when she married Eladio. Art says that neither she nor her father have to worry about that because he will keep them rolling in dough.  Julia says that they can't be together because of Dave and Gina.  She can't be happy and make others miserable.  Art tells her to embrace selfishness for once.  Stop thinking of others.  He reminds her that she is Julia Vallado!  Julia says that she used to be, but she can't find that person.  Art tells her to lose her fears and doubts.  Julia says that she doesn't know how to do it.  She thanks Art for supporting her, but tells him that he can't come to her husband's home.  It's tacky (but not as tacky as making out with a married man at the church and in front of the crucifix). Whatever Julia! Anyway Art leaves.  Good riddance, buddy!

Humberto rolls back into the foyer and puts on the performance of his life.  He cries and tells Julia that he wants her to be happy.  He begs her to forgive him for picking out rich husbands for her.  He wants her to be as happy as she wishes with a billionaire.  He will support her in whatever path she chooses (preferably a path with a billionaire and a casino at the end of it).  He hopes that she will decide soon who she wants into her life because she is holding up the grand opening of the Vallado Casino.  Tick Tock!

Dani the alcoholic/drug addict/party animal/tramp/man-stealer/college drop-out/sibling rivalry poster child...(did I forget anything? ) Well anyway, this totally Effed up individual has decided to give Dave advice about his attitude and relationship with his newly discovered half-brother.  She says that Franco only acts strong and confident, but it's actually weak...like her.  Oh that's the word I missed.  I'll have to add "weak" to my list as well.  Anyways, she says that everyone sees her as this party animal, but she parties for love.  She and Franco are the same.  They are both looking for love and acceptance.  Dumbass Dave says that he's never thought about Franco that way. He will try to deal with Franco in a different manner from now on.  He thanks her for her advice and wisdom.  He's thinking with his penis again and his penis is sooooooo stupid.

Over at the front desk, Franco is not happy when he learns that Marintia visited the office with Matt.  Caridad tries to talk him into claiming the baby.  Franco won't leave Gaby.  Franco tells Caridad that "only the strongest ends up winning".  He tells her to pick a team.

At the Montenegro mansion, Consuelo has come for her visit with the baby.  Erick stops Consuelo and wants to be friends.  You know, like a friend who took her baby and now wants to hang out with you. Consuelo demands that Erick admit that he already knew the ruling before she was served.  She points out that he threatened to wipe the smile off of her face soon.  Erick says that he assumed he would win because his lawyer told him he would.  He did not bribe a judge because that would be illegal.  Duh!  Nina comes out and invites Consuelo to come look at the nursery.  Nina's certain that Connie will enjoy the lovely room where her baby will cry at night while Connie mourns for him because he was ripped from her arms.  The curtains are even powder blue.  What's her problem?

Back at GLA.  Dave has visited his dad's office and snitches on his mom like a little b*tch.  Eladio wines and to Dave that he has to do something to get Julia's trust back.  Dave tells his dad to forget her.  She's made her choice, Art was in Eladio's crib.  What Eladio heard was that Art was in his bed.  What does he do?  Eladio does nothing.  He clutches his pearls like a little b*tch!  Weak, boring, spineless, balless and emasculated Eladio picks up Julia's picture and says that he can't live without her.  Fix your skirt, Eladio. Your slip is showing.  WORST.VILLAIN.EVER.

Gina and Jorge are at a café.  He tells her not to be depressed.  Anyway, she says her family is nuts.  She has something that she's got to do in order to come full circle.  We don't hear what it is.

Again, we return to GLA.  Eladio is threatens to fire Marcos over a mistake on some report.  Franco hears it and invites the accountant into his office to correct the report.  Justin and Caridad look uneasy.  Franco tells Marcos that he hates Eladio too.  He tells Marcos that he wants to create a new company.  He asks if Marcos is on board as his partner.  Marcos asks the devil how much he wants for his soul.  We don't hear that conversation either.

Over at the Montenegro offices, Art is busy berating his son.  Art shows Erick the Margas Shores report.  There will be an environmental protest.  Erick didn't do his research and therefore, he didn't do his job.  Art changes the subject.  He knows that Erick bought the judge.  Erick denies it.  He says that he only knew what his mother told him.  His mommy talked to the judge.  Art chides Erick for using his son to pester his wife.  Erick says that's not so.  He declares that he will be and example to his son just as Art was to him....Erick was being sarcastic.

Julia and Gaby are in the foyer.  Julia thinks that Franco should be escorting Gaby to the gyno (willies again! Why are we talking about this?)  Gaby tells Julia that she's concerned because she not knocked up.  Franco is not in a hurry to have any kids until Eladio acknowledges him.  Julia thinks that's Franco doesn't want any kids.  He's just making up stuff so that he doesn't have to impregnate Gaby and make ugly kids.  A last name has nothing to do with procreating a demon, she says.

Gina knocks on Dave's door.  Is she there to kick him in the balls?  No, she hands him a box filled with mementos.  What kind of flower-loving B.S. is this?  I hate civilized people!  He's sleeping with her sister!  Punch him! Whatever!  Anyways, he tries to get her to stay and talk.  She says something about him dating her sister.

Franco goes over to Marintia's house to bitch about her taking the baby to the office.  She convinces him that they could make a good-evil team again.  They go into the bedroom, she takes off his jacket and they get busy.  Anyways, they had just finished having sex.  Franco was totally still weak, panting and sweating when Marintina places the baby in his father's arms.  Only they know where Franco's lips and hands had been.   At first Franco resists, but he gazes into the face of his mini-me and falls totally in love.  He's like kissing and touching that screaming baby. He didn't even use hand sanitizer...ewww!   He promises Matt (is that his name? Cuz Franco didn't know...I'm serious).  Anyways, once he clarifies, his own son's name, Franco promises him the world.  Marintia suggests that Franco act nice to his mother because they can use her.

Across town, Miguel, another idiot, has not fully grasped why Connie lost custody of her baby.  He takes his happy a$$ to her apartment to "comfort" her, but Connie finally shuts him down.  They can't see one another.  Seeing him is one of the reason's that she lost her child...she tells him to get to steppin' in a really sad way.  He leaves.

Dave and Dani are having an intimate dinner in his apartment.  She notices the box of mementos, he tells her not to look in the box.  They spend time talking about Gina.  Dave tells Dani that he thought they he would be with Gina forever.  Dani tells Dave that he was a rebound man.  Whenever Gina is unhappy with one guy, she finds another to entertain her.  They make out and I'm upset because he still has his balls.

Art tells Nina offers to give Nina his family home if she will sign the papers right now.  Bi-polar Nina gets all pissed because Art didn't put up a bigger fight for the home.  Nina can't believe that Art is giving up his ancestral home to be with the woman that he loves.  She wishes that he loved her like that.  Art thanks her for making him happy when he was bummed about his life.  She thanks him for making her respectable, taking her out of the gutter and taking her around the world.

Julia again...she just as boring as her lap dog Eladio.  Eladio stops by and tells Julia that he's contacted his lawyer.  He's filed for divorce and wanted to tell her before she was served papers.  She can't believe that he filed first since he was a jerk to her.  She says something like, I wish you and I could...she doesn't finish her sentence.  Once again, they agree that they don't trust each other.  After he leaves, she sits on the stairs and cries.

Eladio, if only we could forgive each other she says.....

He raped you, beat you, denied that your son was his, mentally abused your son, bought you, bribed your father, beat up your niece, had an public affair with a murdered employee, locked you in the house against your will, had an affair with another employee and impregnated her, moved the child into the house and raised the boy as his godchild, had you monitored by bodyguards, lied to you about the identity of his child's grandmother, embarrassed you in front of the press, now he won't acknowledge the love-child.

Newsflash!  He's unforgivable.

Enjoyed the recap Cynderella :)

1.) Eladio refusing to hold his grandspawn was not shocking because it's history repeating itself!

2.) Franco & Marinita having sex AGAIN ????? I'm not shocked they're plotting against Dumb-Dumb Caridad!

3.) Eladio & Julia filing for divorce. Sigh!

4.) Arturo giving up the Montenegro Mansion to Purple Lips: reminds me of stupid Obama giving up the missile defense system in Europe to Putin!

5.) Gaby pregnant ?

6.) Connie kicking Miguel out of her apartment: we'll see how that goes!

7.) David having sex with druggie Daniela: GROSS!

Read it twice and found even more stuff to laugh about so thanks Cynderella

"I hate the gynecologist because it's just like going to the gynecologist!"

"He's thinking with his penis again and his penis is sooooooo stupid"

"Fix your skirt, Eladio. Your slip is showing. WORST.VILLAIN.EVER"

Dani, without hours of therapy, is able to articulate her foibles, those of her sister and even Franco's motivation. Forget modeling Dani become a shrink.

Sadly, Nina must finally realize she was never an equal partner in the marriage but an employee at will. Always good to read the fine print.

Go back to your blow up doll Miguel you were always punching above your weight.

I wonder what's in that box? Mementos, cause David destroyed his. A snake, I saw no air holes. Could be pics of Dani and Ashmore or a selfie in the sack with Jorge or goose poo... Gah, this is killin me.

Wow, Cynderella. You are on firrre. "Eladio clutches his pearls".. Wow.." Pull down you skirt..your slip is showing" YIKES I can tell you that I never thought I would read those words aimed at FC.

I think that you might be a little touchy due to the lack of prepositions in this novela...Franky doesn't count..spoiled little pipsqueak. I am supposing that he is not a generous lover. I want him punished and sent to his room to do his homework.

No..no..just no. Dumb Dave actually slept with Damaged Dani? (I did not watch last night because I was watching "THe Voiice.") Anyway, he deserves whatever he catches from her. That was quite a list you made to describe Dani. She is a little hoor, no?

Hum, the father from hell, still negotiating for his daughter's next meal ticket. Yuck.

Erick is so arrogant and stupid (a deadly combination) that be will soon be hoisted on his own petard.

Well, I am off to give a test on infinitives and gerunds. Later.

Good work, Cynderella.

Dani the alcoholic/drug addict/party animal/tramp/man-stealer/college drop-out/sibling rivalry poster child...(did I forget anything? )

You can add: master manipulator, narcissist, liar. I'm sure someone else can come up with a few more before I've had my caffeine fix.

While David didn't want Daniela to look into that box, he's still an idiot for dating her again. I would advise Regina against ever taking him back after this.

Franco is getting scarier by the day. Selling the shoe factory proves he doesn't love Gabriela and that's compounded by him not wanting to have a baby (Well, in the TN world). Whether he actually loves baby Mateo is questionable under those circumstances. It looks like his long-term plan is to fleece Eladio, but fleecing Gabriela first isn't the right move. By doing that he will put Eladio on high alert and Eladio can still swat him like a fly. He won't hesitate to do that, either.

I'm going to copy your last paragraph for the Karmageddon discussion page.

Nina, like all narcissists, is under the very mistaken impression that she deserves to be loved and/or worshipped. Nobody that self-centered deserves love because they are users. She's an emotional vampire who managed to raise a Mini-Me who gets off on hurting her own sister and a son who has no respect for women or the law. Erick doesn't love his child and has no sense of responsibility. Nina's mostly-open hatred of Miguel for not being of her own DNA (genetic narcissism) taught him by default that he didn't have to have any sense of emotional responsibility.

Nina has never learned that you can't make anyone love you. El corazon no se manda.

I agree with what Arturo told Julia, which is that you can't put everyone else ahead of yourself all the time. Because if you always think of everyone else and become totally selfless there is nothing left of yourself. He didn't get that far into it but that is what that means. It's completely unhealthy to neglect oneself.

Cynderella,

Thanks for this delightfully vibrant and cheeky recap. You always manage to make me laugh. Even with the hilarity of your recaps you never lose your insight. For example this nugget:

"Across town, Miguel, another idiot, has not fully grasped why Connie lost custody of her baby."

and this wise observation:

"Anyway Art leaves. Good riddance, buddy!"

I did think that your admittedly amusing (and sadly accurate) assessment of Dani (who in my opinion is on a path to redemption) was a bit harsh.

I found it a little puzzling that after this happened:

"Nina comes out and invites Consuelo to come look at the nursery."

the two strolled back toward the house Coni placed her left hand affectionately on Nina's back. Reconciliation or resignation? Or meaningless?

UA,

"Nina's mostly-open hatred of Miguel for not being of her own DNA (genetic narcissism) taught him by default that he didn't have to have any sense of emotional responsibility."

What does this even mean?

Carlos

Savvy and sassy Cynderella.

"Dani the alcoholic/drug addict/party animal/tramp/man-stealer/college drop-out/sibling rivalry poster child", "You know, like a friend who took her baby and now wants to hang out with you" and "she tells him to get to steppin' in a really sad way" were among many favorites.

Because this is so dank, dark and depressing, one of the things I find I keep doing is agonizing over who is worse - Erick or Franco. Erick ripped his child from Consuelo (what an adorable baby, isn't it?) Erick seems to view his child as an adorable pet (as an animal lover, that's not a bad thing in my eyes). But, I see no bonding. Franco clearly has had a revelation and love (for perhaps the first time) has entered his heart. I would expect a similar all out assault to keep the child but then there is pesky little Gabi...

Eladio's "quiet" is disconcerting and bothers me as much as his fiery anger. You're right Cynderella, when I read your list of what he has done, he really is irredeemable.

I'm really turning on David. I'm almost (but not quite) ready to start the "Die David Die" chant. He is almost too ridiculous to live!

I know Clara and (sorry, I've even forgotten his name!) (whoever) are certainly not the pivotal couple here, but right now, they are the only ones I'm rooting for...

Diana

Thank you for infusing your customary wit into this sad episode.

I had saved up so much to rant about but for time and space constraints, I'll just say this: I really hope that Santa Julia and the irreproachable Arturo have an affair, so that they can both be sorely disappointed. Oh, and I hope Petra and Agustín change jobs.

Thanks again, Cynderella! :)

Tks Cyn, expressed my thoughts exactly, with much sarcastic humor.

I don't comment much, 'cause all my comments are negative about this piece of mierda. I see I'm not alone. However, PyP is Premio worthy compared to Sueño de amor. I gave up on that one.

Consuelo & EJ are the only characters I care anything about.

Sorry, Carlos, I realized that wasn't clear.

Nina's treatment of Miguel has taught both Erick and Daniela how to inflict pain and take no emotional responsibility for their actions. In fact, they enjoy emotionally torturing people to perhaps a greater degree than their mother does and will do it with no apparent motive other than to make themselves feel better because of some perceived slight. Sometimes it's only about trying to make their "enemies" squirm.

Daniela tortures Regina because Regina is Arturo's golden child and because Daniela needs to prove to herself that she is The Better Woman.

Erick tortured Consuelo because she became a non-entity to him once they were married. This may or may not have anything to do with Nina's hatred of her, but the main reason was that Consuelo had gone from being a model to becoming Mrs Upper Crust. He prefers cheap-looking whores because he can feel superior to them.

Nina's 1950s mindset is so outdated in this series but it is a contributing factor to Erick's bad attitude about women.

yeah variopinta, Sueño de amor pretty much sucks

UA,

Thanks, though I'm still somewhat confused. You explained very well your thoughts about Erick and Dani, but I don't think you really addressed what you said about Miguel. Does he not have a sense of emotional responsibility and is it because of Nina's genetic narcissism and is this why he seems to be oblivious to the part he played in Coni's loss of custody?

Carlos

Miguel has issues. He's a modern cliche of a techie nerd who has little social interaction with others and therefore doesn't understand consequences of certain actions. Nina is a heavyweight contributing factor to this because of her treatment of him, which is fueled by her genetic narcissism. She is completely incapable of caring for any child not her own.

Excellent recap Cyn!

Everything you said about Eladio is true so why am I still rooting for him? When he was standing in front of Julia and she was blubbering but not saying anything (as always) I could feel him holding his desperate hope in, wanting to reach out but holding himself back.

Art has no qualms about tearing his family apart for Julia and makes no qualms that he doesn't care if he tears Julia's family apart, as long as he gets her. Actually, cutting her off from David will only help him.

David is the biggest idiot. Are we really supposed to hope he gets back with Regina, after shagging her sister? Where are the good couples we should be rooting for? Connie and Miguel? They have no chemistry and Miguel is no galan.

Wow Franco showed emotion. Watching him and Mari together with the baby makes me think that the three of them are more a family than he and Gaby could ever be. He really should divorce Gaby and marry Mari. They are far much more alike.

Why is Franco selling the shoe factory? Just for money? Doesn't he want to run a successful business? Does he think Gaby won't find out? That she won't divorce him? Or once he has the money he won't care? Now if she got pregnant I can see the idiot staying by the idiot's side.

Gaby never looks happy. Has she laughed once in this TN? I can barely remember a smile. She is a wet dish rag.

Thanks, Cynderella. Love all your ripping into Eladio. My fave: Fix your skirt, Eladio. Your slip is showing.

David is such a tattletale. So not sexy. He hasn't slept with Dani again (yet), but I don't care. Just the fact that he can be hot for both sisters depending on which way the wind blows shows he's not worth the bother. Where is Francisco?

Franco bonding with his baby was a big surprise. Will Mateo be the only one other than himself that he really cares about? Franco and Marintia are soulless mates, but I think he'd stab her in the back if he needed to.

Dating your brother-in-law isn't grounds for losing custody of your baby. So I see where Miguel is coming from. But what he doesn't get is the deep loss Consuelo feels about it. He and Art should put their heads together and investigate the dirty judge.

What exactly is happening to telkenovelas ? I started watching Alborada and fell in love with novelas. Then , I went on to Amor Real and Pasion ..loved them. I even liked some of the modern telenovelas..LM, LT, AV. I am losing interest. I need a hero and heroine . PyP has neither. Most of these characters have only onetruelove..themselves.

I'll be in the minority and say that while I normally really enjoy Cynderella's recaps, I found the stuff about Eladio to be very anti-woman. You're insulting a man by comparing him to a woman. It's really off-putting to read.

-Annie

I think that was a show for Marintia's benefit. I don't think Franco has any intention of marrying her either although she is a better match for him. There is no social or financial benefit for him to marry Marintia while divorcing Gabriela would seriously bite him on the butt in more ways than one. It would or will bring down the wrath of Julia, Eladio, Humberto, and David, followed by yet another scandal.

It completely mystifies me how Caridad fails to get that Franco acknowledging Mateo will destroy his marriage. She was first willing to keep her mouth shut about being Franco's mother to avoid hurting Julia and now doesn't see the comparison. She is therefore now the dumbest of all the female characters.

Arturo's house was already divided against itself. That started the day he brought Nina to the mansion after they were married. His father saw her for the gold-digger she is and made her sign the post-nup before Arturo knew about it. Nina hated Miguel from Day One and taught her two "golden" children to do likewise and to have no work ethic. She can't accept that Regina isn't like the other two and also failed to accept Consuelo. Arturo's reproaches about those things -- whenever they began -- had no effect on her behavior toward Miguel, Regina, or Consuelo. That he and Nina were almost never on the same page with regard to disciplining Daniela is another nail in the coffin of their marriage, along with his dawning awareness of her shallowness, vanity, and ultimately her greed.

It was a house of cards that only needed a breeze just strong enough to blow it down. It didn't have to be Julia, either. The issues about Regina cancelling her wedding to the immature Joshua, Daniela's partying to excess and Nina's enabling her to avoid the shrink, Erick's attempt to sell out the company, his brutal treatment of Consuelo, and Nina's enabling of Erick's temporary escape to PV would have been enough without Julia.

The Montenegro children are all legal adults. We can't say that their parents have no right to dictate their relationships without also saying that they should not dictate their parents'. To be weirded out by one's father dating the mother of one's fiance is one thing; to find it unforgivable is childish.

Ah Cynderella...you always amaze me by what you are willing to say. Yikes. But Lordy, how you make me laugh.

Before he can answer, Humberto plays the wing man and rolls in on his hover chair.

Know you love out and out villains and Humberto is living up to his billing. Also enjoyed how he encouraged Julia to find her "path"....preferably a path with a billionaire and a casino at the end of it.

Yep, I think everybody in this dreary story is slated for great unhappiness except Humberto.

Got a kick out of "grandspawn", your kvetching about the gynecologist (hmmm...memories of ice-cold stirrups) and of course your outrageous, bound-to-offend rant about Eladio:

Fix your skirt, Eladio. Your slip is showing. WORST. VILLAIN. EVER.

You are bad, bad, bad, Cynderella, and I'm sending you to your room. Without food or water missy. But thanks for the hilarious recap.

Judy B: I'm just enjoying Purple Lips punking Arturo because he's WEAK!

I had to return to mention another line that had me LingOL and my family staring at me (well, to be honest, they do that a lot )..."Across town, Miguel, another idiot...". ...so bad, so true. Cynderella...Did you go to your room as Judyb ordered? I'm thinking ..no. I would like to have lunch with you everyday. Your comments remind me of one of my best friends who has a very quick wit and a sharp, sharp tongue. No one in the faculty room was safe from her cutting wit..it was great.

Cynderella---your snark was off the charts today, like a fire that just couldn't be put out. A fantastic morning read.

Is it Franco's plan to dump Gaby after he gets the riches that he thinks he deserves from Eladio? In the interim he will have a bundle from the sale of the shoe factory to keep him in the well off, I'm happy category.

If I were David I would have told Regina---Well, you wouldn't fight for our love, I guess that I didn't mean all that much to you. So there's no need to give me those
dirty looks---give them to yourself. Unlike you, Daniela is willing to fight for what she wants.

Anyway after the two families split apart, Regina won't have that it's because of our families excuse anymore.

I think that Consuelo is being far to nice to Erick. He's laughing at her all the way. It's too bad that Erick is holding the high cards right now.

I'm not a detective and know very little of detective work. How would one go about finding out whether or not the judge took a bribe?

Julia and Arturo are moving closer and closer. For those on the patio who want Julia and Eladio to stay together--forget it. Art is now ready to give Nina the mansion and Eladio is filing for divorce. The writing is on the wall and if there still is any doubt, don't forget the old manipulator Humberto working hard behind hallways and half closed doors doing all things possible to bring it about. Oh Boy!
my casino is getting closer and closer.

must see tv

Thank you for that recap, Cynderella. You certainly didn’t hold back. Do those ingenious insults just flow or do you have to work at them? Either way, I’m very impressed.

I have to say I’m not used to seeing that other folks can get just as frustrated with bad/illogical/inconsistent plots as I can. I could never be a movie critic; I’m too picky. Like how do so many characters manage to recover from getting punched in the face five or eight times, I mean straight to the face, within a day or two with no bruises from the experience, much less the concussion, the broken nose or jaw or hugely swollen eye sockets that would inevitably result? I give credit to P&P for at least making Franco and Erik look like they’d been hurt pretty badly and delaying their recovery for more than two episodes after their respective mauling and car accident. Hey, they kept Erik in a coma for six months. Of course then they had him come out of it like the end of Carrie, with his arm shooting out to grab the arm of … was it Consuelo?

On another note, I’ve reluctantly come to accept that without incredible coincidences or contrivances, most plots would not even function. No one ever shuts a door if there’s someone within walking distance who could overhear them; people appear magically to save someone one or two seconds before they’re about to be killed, not one minute before or one minute too late; no one ever has trouble finding a parking space when quick action is required; galáns are cut like Mr. Universe but it must be all genetics as you never see them do so much as a pushup; chase scenes on foot would challenge Olympian decathletes and gymnasts; and characters always manage to express some heart-tugging confession or expression of undying love just before their soul leaves their shot-up body. Etc. Of course I should accept that real life is rarely as exciting as a movie so unless I want to watch FBI surveillance videos for the true realism I seek, I really should be more forgiving.

I sympathize with the people who want the story line to have a reasonable arc, that the good guys should not flail around cluelessly for 80% of the series, only to have huge Ah-hah moments in the last two weeks. Tightening up the scripts would help a lot, like 30 episodes worth. How about the good guys aren’t so stupid, but the bad guys aren’t either, so there’s a dramatic back and forth that carries the plot forward?

I do give credit to P&P for making me guess what’s going to happen at the end, at least to some of the characters. Nina was introduced in Episode 1 where she’s asking Arturo for a new car three months after she just got one. Why didn’t the writers just hang a sign that said, “BLOODSUCKER” around her neck? If she was that way after 25 years or so of marriage, how long could any man have stood that, no matter how rich (or horny) he was? But now, who knows? Arturo caves in and offers her his family estate and she realizes this means he’d give up anything to be with Julia. Her plaintive “Ojalá me hubieras amado a mí así” (Oh, if only you had loved me like that) actually moved me. Could she earn a reprieve? Even Franco was showing some love last night. But he and Eladio have sordid pasts que no tienen perdones. Will both of them go down? Maybe there will be a climactic scene in a steam bath or locker room with Franco holding a knife to Eladio’s throat while Eladio is flicking his lighter under Franco’s testicles.

Anyway, thanks again for your creative recaps, Cynderella. And if anyone wants to nominate your favorite – meaning least face-palming – telenovela, I’d be appreciative. (I believe Susan Lynn just did that.) But perhaps that’s better for a weekend discussion.

hmmm Annie you bring up a good point. I didn't take it that way but I guess you are right. We are so conditioned to disparage a man by likening him to a woman that we don't realize we are disparaging ourselves in the process. Reminds me of that "run like a girl" commercial from the super bowl two years ago. When did doing something "like a girl" become an insult?

Cyn, thanks for your snarky, " outrageous, bound -to -offend," (JudyB) recap! You have been sent to your room, I'll slip you some food......chips and guacamole....and some tequila shots! Hope you don't have too much on your plate, that recap was posted very late, even for Pacific time!!!

Diana, " one of the things I find I keep doing is agonizing over who is worse - Erick or Franco." I find myself thinking about that as well. I have dropped Humberto down, he is no longer in the top running. I think the kidnapping has Erick edging out Franco....today at least.

Speaking of Franco, I tried to enjoy his turn toward fatherhood, but he kept saying that he wanted to make Matt just like him, that was truly disappointing! Franco seems to want a mini-me partner in crime, as Marintha smiles approvingly.

Poor Gabi, now she will be plagued by infertility, which, in her case is a salvation, but unaware as she is, she will still have to suffer.

Carlos, I saw, and have seen before, the respectful, even loving body language between Nina and Consuelo. After Erick stumbles awkwardly on his much anticipated anvil, I that hope Nina and Consuelo forge a respectful relationship, after all, they both love Erick, Jr.

Gringo, I did look at your restaurant, Frida, it looks fantastic. I'm going to keep that chain in mind when we travel!!!

David, wealthy people trade cars more frequently than we do. How do I know, because we like to buy low mileage used cars, traded in quickly by wealthy people. My DIL traded a car in after one year, and she isn't in anyway a "BLOODSUCKER." Respectfully, I suggest that spending habits aren't the core of the problems between Nina and Arturo.

At any rate, I for one am glad that both Nina and Eladio have given up on fixing their relationships, it has been tedious enough to watch David "stalking" Regina. I don't think I can suffer through anymore wimpy lost lovers.

For those of you who got squishy seeing Franco interact with little Mateo (whose name he didn't even remember) let me remind you that in the same episode he was arranging for Gabriela to sign papers which would allow him to sell her shoe factory out from under her without even consulting her. At least Erick has granted Coni rather liberal visitation.

Sandy,

I also looked up gringo's Frida was also impressed. Looks like I may need to wear shoes, huh?

Carlos

True enough, Judy B. You make me think of how athletes or pop stars throw their money around. Good point!

I still believe, however, that the writers wanted to emphasize Nina's materialism as her car request was about the third sentence she uttered in the telenovela and Arturo reacted quite negatively to it. Here is how Urban reported it in the recap of Episode 1:

“Ay, my love, what's wrong with me wanting a new car?”

“Simply when you need something I'll buy it. This looks like excess.”

“You talk like you don't have money. Or like you're far away from me. I'm afraid.”

“I'm sorry, Nina, but don't insist. You won't convince me.” He took off his jacket.

“Of course. You say you can't handle other people's humiliations but when someone wants the best...” She looked at him. “Take off your tie. Arturo, I need this car.”

“You need this car? I need to put food in our mouths.”

“Seriously. I need it.”

Arturo ignored this and went into the shower.

Erick staged a fake kidnapping of his own son, but how does that stack up against Franco's attempted murder of Erick that resulted in a six-month coma? That sounds about even to me when you consider that the kidnapping potentially endangered the child, caused anguish to the entire family, was used to extort money from his father (whom he told his mother to destroy), and was also used against the mother in a divorce/custody case.

This is without even factoring in the anti-environmentalist plan Erick intended to destroy Arturo with.

Erick and Franco are even. May they be cellies in Hell.

On telenovelas, women are raped, beaten, killed or objectified on every episode. Telenovelas insult women or insult their intelligence daily. If some people are sensitive to women's issues, I find it quite strange that those people continue to watch novelas and go so far to join forums and comment on them.

So in conclusion: Joking about a man being castrated is good humor, but saying he should pull up his skirt is awful.

Daniel, it was me who disagreed with you!!!

I was very pleased when Nandicta posted the conversations of her Mexican friends. They might put light on our differerence. Due to viewer input, pedhaps the writers started out on the materialistic path for Nina, but they have changed course, none of the Montenegro children nor Arturo have accused Nina of materialism during the divorce mess. She quickly traded her jewels for the ransom, that was selfless. Can we agree on that?

-- Annie: Welcome! Please allow me to meddle and throw in my two cents, if I may. You raise a valid point but I don't think that Cynderella's comment about Eladio "clutching his pearls" was misogynistic because I personally do not consider that an intrinsic feminine trait; it relates to a specific type of females that most women would not identify with. The same way that most of us would not identify with the drama queen, the bimbo, the diva... In my 31 years on this earth, I have yet to see a woman of any age group or social condition "clutch her pearls". Language does indeed have many sly forms of sexism but language is also evolutive and malleable . That is why I find very refreshing that we can take that offending sexist language and mold it in ways that reflect more gender parity. That's how, for example, men can be described as drama queens or drama kings, divas or divos, bimbos or mimbos. That's how we get expressions like "grow a pair of ovaries", etc. As for Cynderella ordering Eladio to "pull up his skirt", I find it akin to telling someone to pull up their pants and take action. I'm not trying to tell you how you should feel, Annie. You have every right to take offense at a language that you perceived as sexist. I just wanted to share my perspective on this. With all due respect, I feel that if the men in this Patio don't find expressions like "David is thinking with his penis" sexist, then I have no qualms with expressions like "clutching his pearls" or "pull up your skirt" misogynistic.
Thanks for sparking an interesting debate. Hope to see more of you in the PyP Patio. :)

-- Leticia: I don't know if you'll read this but, speaking of pulling one's pants up, back during Episode 91, you asked whether Nina made a mistake when she said that Erick pulled down his pants with Consuelo, when she had meant the opposite. Actually, Nina had said that Erick "se fajó los pantalones", i.e. he straightened his trousers and not "se bajó los pantalones", i.e. he pulled his pants down like you and other Patio Pals heard. Just a little clarification that I hope you find useful. :)

-- Susanlynn: You lament the lack of heroes and wonder what happened to telenovelas but I'm afraid the old-school telenovela galán make Arturo and Eladio look like hot property. Unfortunately, Carla Estrada's trilogy de época and more specifically Alborada and Pasión ruined and distorted telenovela galanes for you and for us! The classic TN galán is selfish, shallow, jealous, possessive, machista and pretty dumb. He is also a lout and a cheater. He falls for every lie and maneuver of the villanos. He believes everyone but the female protagonist and chances are he doubts the paternity of his kid(s) and refuses to recognize him/her until the very end. Think the Daniel Arenas character in that bottomless pit of stoopidity called "Corazón Indomable". Thank goodness for Carla Estrada delivering us a couple of decent galanes to build our fantasies on...

-- Daniel: Welcome! I really enjoy reading your comments. Such interesting insights and rip-roaring wit!

Daniel, this was our first information about Nina and what it says is that she delights in getting Arturo to spend money on her as proof of her desirability. The car in and of itself meant nothing beyond its price tag and what that expenditure meant.

She didn't have free rein to spend money like a sailor on shore leave and I'm sure she knew that this would have been ill-advised for the relationship as well as their bank balance. She is probably also paranoid about being poor again because she thinks of that as something to be ashamed of.

Trading in a new car after one year is one thing, but three months? That's excess.

UA, as I interpret your comment as I wish, we agree. For whatever reason, spending isn't the core problem in the Montenego marriage.

-- Sandy: I totally agree with you but since I've been sitting at the same table as you practically the entire novela, I don't think my point of view counts. Nina is being judged based on the character descriptions posted on Univision's website. She ignored her stepson getting her cue from the boy's father's treatment of him, she overindulges her children, she is a devoted wife, she is good in bed, she takes excessive care of her looks and she dislikes a daughter-in-law that later shacked up with her stepson (who incidentally wished that her comatose son would just hurry and die). This pretty much sums up Nina's faults.

Susanlynn had lamented on many an occasion the lack of a hero in this TN and rightly so. However, I'd like to point out that we do not have a heroine either. At this junction, we seem to be lacking a crucial piece of information, because as far as I can tell, we were never told that Julia is made of diamonds and that's why two handsome, albeit stoopid, billionaires are fighting over her.

@ Anon, I'm only going to address one comment and it's this:

One can enjoy (FICTIONAL) media that is problematic in different ways and still be critical of it. In fact there are critical discussions here about the way women are portrayed. Further, once we're talking about discussion of said media (such as recaps) we're talking about REAL LIFE attitudes towards various subjects.
And for the record, I don't support jokes regarding male genitalia because that ties back to sexism and the presence of toxic masculinity in this society.
Anyway, that's all I'm going to address because I hardly think I said anything deserving of your rude response by saying I find it off-putting to see a character essentially called a woman as an insult. And that's without getting into the description of him being emasculated and ball-less and how that ties into promoting one idea of masculinity not to mention more complex issues like transphobia.
All of which is to say I think this place is normally funny without being completely over the top and excessively insensitive towards these issues. I might not agree with every joke, but I never find anything as glaringly offensive as I did today.

-Annie

UA,

In arranging Erick's accident Franco's intention was that Erick die. While it did put his son at considerable risk, the kidnapping that Erick arranged was intended to help him gain custody. I would say in comparing these two instances Franco emerges by far the more evil.

Carlos

Nandicta...If you would like to see a true galan....read The Outlander series. ...whataman, whataman, what a very fine man!!!

Nandicta, Nina hated Consuelo from the get-go, long before there was ever a hint of anything between her and Miguel. This has been stated more than once.

I don't buy that Arturo ever hated Miguel, but if he did Nina should have seen this as a red flag and rethought her intentions. However, her own hatred is her own. It's her genetic narcissism and that long predates anything connected to Consuelo. She doesn't want Miguel inheriting anything because she's playing a very selfish zero-sum game in which she wants Erick to inherit everything while she sells her daughters to the highest bidders and Miguel just disappears off the face of the earth.

Narcissists are very much into revisionist history because it satisfies their own world view. They can tell multiple lies about any single situation and change them as it suits their current purpose. Case in point:

My mother was a narcissist with no friends. When my generation got into rock music and crushes on musicians she had no comparable experience in her own life and no friends with whom to compare notes. Had she condescended to make friends with the parents of my classmates they would have all said "My kid's into this, too. It's a phase and it will pass." However, because she considered herself to be "too good" for these people this never happened. Years later she actually told me that she had taken me to a kiddie shrink who said that I should be locked up. I looked her squarely in the eye, raised a brow, and asked "And when did that happen?"

She said nothing because she realized she was busted.

When I told this to a shrink a few years ago his answer was that she needed to convince herself I was crazy because it made her feel better about herself and she needed to think this because it allowed her to dismiss anything about me she couldn't take.

I told this story to illustrate that we can't count on narcissists telling the truth all the time. Many of them lie more than tell the truth. What was more likely in the Montenegro household is that Miguel had a nanny (which he would have had anyway) and Arturo was not an involved father (which many men in the figurative 1950s world Nina lives in wouldn't have been). That allowed her to mold Daniela into her Mini-Me and Erick into what he is. If she had issues with Arturo's minimal involvement before this she should have spoken up about it, more than once if necessary. But she didn't so she has no right to complain about it now.

Annie is right, we have acknowledged and bemoaned the fact that women are treated more harshly in novelas for years here at Caray.

Carlos, Erick still has my vote for most evil. It is my understanding of the law that if you drive the get-away car in which your compatriot kills someone, you are guilty of murder. Due to Erick's terminal stupidity, E,J r almost died of a fever. Endangering a baby trumps endangering a goofy felon wannabe. Erick put his hijo in grave danger.

Hey, Sandy.
Sorry I got you mixed up. Yes, Nina's willingness to part with her jewels is a temendous revision in the atttitude she was first pasted with. And that fits in with my comment, "Could she (Nina) earn a reprieve?" But you're right--the writers have been working on Nina's evolution way longer than just this episode.

Also, does anyone know if writers have the whole story set in stone before they start filming or do they adapt/change the plot as the series progresses?

Daniel

Carlos..About the shoes that you will need to go to Frida's, don't expect to get a pair at a nice discount from Gaby. When Franky sells her shoe factory ,there will be no more discounts on Wingtips or wedges for any friends and family anymore. I hope that Hum has put away a supply of his favorite footwear. I was hoping for some new flipflops and maybe a pair of dressy sandals for summer. QUe lastima.

Daniel...yes, that was my favorites list 1 Alborada 2 Amor Real. 3 Pasion... You may notice a pattern forming..all are historical dramas starring Fernando Colunga, one of mi telenovios.

Personallyz I do not think that the writers know how this hot mess is going to end.

UA..uh.oh, I still love rock and have crushes on rock musicians.

And Nandicta, thank you for your comment and also for your amazingly informative vocabulary lessons. (I also watch El Hotel but find the Spanish definitely more challenging than here, maybe because of the era involved.) I often copy and paste your lessons into a vocabulary notebook I keep: one that is reaching dictionary length. Who knew that Spanish has a word for everything and even more than everything? Regina used "estrenar" the other day regarding her shoes. "Estrenar"= to wear something for the first time. I was pleased to recognize it. But you probably already put that in a post.
Daniel

I agree that the writers didn't have this set in stone at the outset. Some remakes end exactly the same way as previous versions while others end differently. Since the production schedule is later than in years past, writers are rewriting and sometimes retconning characters, pandering to audience whim.

According to rumor the finale will air in Mexico on April 10th, which means they're probably shooting it this week or next. Lately they are also shooting alternate endings which shows a lack of commitment to story integrity. I've seen too much retconning in the past to trust that this will end in any logical way.

UA,

"Nina hated Consuelo from the get-go, long before there was ever a hint of anything between her and Miguel."

May I remind you that Miguel has said that he fell in love with Coni the moment that he first laid eyes on her. From the first time we ever saw him and Coni together I think that we all got the hint that he was obsessed with her and I doubt that Nina failed to notice.

Carlos

Sandy y Carlos---When Glendale (close to Los Angeles but not a part of it) decided to put in a large open air mall across the street from the Galleria, a large, modern indoor mall, the development was open for bids. Two large developers were chosen for the final contract. Kinda like Arturo's company and Eladio's I guess. There was a lot of dealing done, tax breaks, incentives, plan changes and the like
just like in our novela with Ashmore, remember him? In the end Rick Caruso's firm won and the Americana at Brand was built.
Frida is right at the malls entrance which is a perfect place. Well every place in the Americana is perfect or near perfect. It's hard to go wrong there. Inside, Frida is beautiful and modern although it can get noisy at times. I like to eat outside. There are umbrellas for shelter from the summer sun and a long modern fire pit for evening dining. It's fabulous, food, decor, service--everything.

I see that another fray is developing. This novela really bring them but I am not going to join in today---I'm all frayed out from the back-and-froths recently. Like Regina, I'm tired of fighting.

No novela again tonight? Oh well. It will be must see tv when it comes back.
the gringo

One little question gringo, Carlos must be like my husband who enjoys breaking dress codes....is it Ok if Carlos joins our little Frida group...with no shoes? (He's from Texas as you know!)

Carlos,Miguel didn't do anything about his attraction for Consuelo until after the curtain went up on this series.

Yes, we saw the attraction, but we were meant to.

Gringo, looking at Frida's menu is making me want to head to my local Mexican restaurant.

Carlos...ah...love at first sight.

UA...I just ran across the term "retconning" on another forum that I frequent. I had never heard it before. Is it a new word ?

I , like the writers evidently, am clueless as to how this show is going to be wrapped up. I guess Erick and Franky are equally hopeless , reckless, and feckless, equally spoiled and entitled, but I think that Franky is a bit smarter. I have no idea what anvils are circling above. I think that pairings in the finale might be Eladio & Julia (she'll get a matching BIG tattoo as a show of her commitment..finally), Miguel & Connie, Spin doctor Auggie & dour Gaby , Clara & Justino (mpphm ..yawn...do we even..care), Franky & Er sharing a cell , Hum & Satan in hell. As for Nini and Art and desperate Caridad ...don't know, don't care. There are no spare ladies or gents around. Maybe Caridad settled for Artv, and Nini marries a guy who owns a car dealership. JMHO

I would welcome Carlos in any way, shoes or no shoes. After all, it's not his fault that he's from Texas. Don't know about the local health regulations but if there were to be a problem, I have some slipper/moccasins that he can wear. No socks? I'll pick up a pair for him at the mall for him.

the gringo

A few days ago I mused about opening up an I Hope They Die Table on The Patio where folks could take a seat for a moment or two, have a favorite drink, and place their request for the death of one character of their choosing with or without the reason why and/or the means. Since we have an extra day, today might be a good day to get those die Erick dies, die Franco dies, die Hummy dies, or in Diana's case, perhaps a die David die, off our chests. What do you think? It's also a chance to distance ourselves from each others' throats for awhile. As I recall, Susanlynn stepped up but wavered between Erick and Franco. So how about it? I Hope They Die anyone?

Carlos

Wow Cynderella, that was some recap, who knew it was going to spark so much? All I can say is that I come here to read the much appreciated recaps and sometimes give my frustrated perspective. So I will simply thank you for a stellar, witty whip stinging recap!

This show has become tedious and exhausting and last night was too much to take at times. It's like a plane going down and I wonder if there is anyone in the cockpit? What has happened to these characters? Are the writers just making this up as they go along? Do they even care about the integrity of some of the characters and that they remain true to what was laid out from the beginning? I can handle a bit of self revelation and change. I felt that bringing in the therapist for Julia and Eladio was a way to lay the foundation for that, but now Julia is just regressing imo. She's confused and back to whining and not knowing who she is..waah waaah. Get a grip Julia!

As for Eladio, perhaps I am alone, so be it but I'm still rooting for him. I don't believe anyone is unforgivable if there is repentance. I know personally that some who seem so far gone can change. We all have a bottom and things are not so black and white. I see Eladio's remorse. Unfortunately he got in bed with the wrong woman. Montsy was truly no match for Eladio. Caridad is a master manipulator and no matter how Eladio tries to handle her, she will not be refused what she wants. She pushes and pushes ignoring his warnings, meddling metiche that she is. I truly feel for Eladio, he's stuck. If he comes clean to Julia and Gaby about that baby he's damned and if he keeps quiet he is damned. I will be so mad if Caridad gets away with no consequences as she has orchestrated this whole thing with Marintia.

Franco is just gross. I can't imagine what his ending will be, but it's not going to be good.

I refuse to root for Julia and Art. The idea sickens me. I want to see Eladio to reclaim Julia and for the two of them to be happy. Arturo can go kick rocks all the way over a cliff.

I think Miguel has mental issues. There is no other way to describe his creepy lack of self awareness. How did he think he could just show up to Consuelo and she would be ok? Does he get that she just lost her baby because of him? I don't get the point to this worthless uninteresting character. FAIL.

Speaking of failures...David. I was actually on his side there for a bit, thinking that perhaps Regina was being too rough on him, but I'm so disappointed in him. He has an issued with the idea of his mother dating Arturo; but switching out sisters is no biggie.

Dani may have come a long way with her self revelation but she's still a liar. I think Assmore is going to have the last word on all of this. I will be surprised if Dani makes it all the way to the end of this TN. Perhaps some magic powder magically makes her disappear?

Carlos, in response to your "Die" table. I am pulling up a chair right now.

My list in no particular order:

Caridad - worthless pushy woman
Arturo - Scheming arrogant snake
Erick - see his father above ^
Marintia (see my further scenario below)

I don't wish any death on Franco, I have a small measure of empathy for him due to his upbringing. I would rather he be rehabilitated and acknowledged by Eladio, perhaps he gets to actually raise Mateo with Gaby after Marintia dies. That would be a twist. I doubt it will happen of course.

I prefer Hummy be stuck in a retirement home to suffer in his own manipulating unsavory juices.

Julia would be out of her mind to stay with Eladio and certifiable if she got a tattoo like that. My feeling is that Eladio is now self-destructing. Julia will either end up alone or with Arturo.

Someone else speculated that Nina will be alive but will lose her beauty. I could vote for that. Franco and Erick together in hell, Consuelo and Miguel FPS. Not sure about the rest.

Carlos..okay...I'll come to the party. I may have to flip a coin because Err, Franky, and Hum are so close in the race for most despicable. Err definitely wins the Dumber than dirt part of the competition, and Franky wins the swimsuit division. They are pretty much tied in the arrogance\elitist department. Hum is on his way out soon one way or another no matter how I vote. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Let me think for a minute. Oh and, Make mine Asti spumante tonight. Are you putting out appetizers? ..pigs in a blanket ? (Whoops I originally typed "pugs " in a blanket..yikes...Lucky I caught that one) Crudités?

Does anyone else think that Humberto looks older than he did in his first episode? Thus far none of us seems to have considered the possibility of him dying of natural causes. The actor is 80 years old, BTW. But putting him in a cut-rate retirement home is what he deserves after the way he treated the women in his life and how he continues to manipulate.

I agree with Delilah that Assmore will be Daniela's ultimate undoing. She could die from poisoned cocaine or an overdose or end up with serious brain damage. She may have just realized how evil her brother is but she still fails to see her own viciousness.

If Erick ends up dead or in prison, Daniela dead or in a coma, and Miguel possibly murdered by either of them he will need a shrink desperately.

No decision on Caridad yet.

Thank you, Daniel, I'm glad you enjoyed the vocabulary lists over on El Hotel De Los Secretos. The script is excellent and we're learning a great deal of Spanish by watching that show.

Since Carlos has invited us to a new table and kindly offered to serve us apéritifs and amuse-gueules, then I'd like to order a glass of Moscato Rosé with baked Pancetta-wrapped figs stuffed with goat cheese. As for my "I Hope They Die" request, I don't want any character to die, but I'm almost convinced that Eladio will be six feet under at the end of PyP. I don't see him living to witness the end credits roll but I do see Erick, Franco and Humberto sharing a prison cell. It's the best punishment for this despicable trio. Death would be a relief for them and an unsatisfying ending for me as a viewer.

I would have liked the Eladio if he had started out nice. Art also bugs the bajeebers out of me, BUT if she has to choose one of them, I think Art would be better for her. Eladio is a complete psycho and the crimes that I listed were all committed against HER. He beat the Ratt. He beat the Ratt's friend and held him captive in a warehouse. He mentally tortured both of his sons. He was always slapping Franco around when the TN began. He was cheating in business with Art. A psycho cannot change after a few sessions with a psychiatrist. Yes, he says that he did it because he loved Julia, but I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy.

I think that they will give Julia to Eladio, but there is nothing that they could do to make me say that he is redeemed. I'm only saying that of the two of them (only if she must choose one), Art is the better choice of the two devils.

I think that they are going to end this by making Art the murderer of Frank Smith. Eladio and him were talking once and he reminded Art that he had done something very bad. Also, he once told David that he Julia is the reason that they fought, but "there is something else". Last night's divorce talk between Art and Nina made me think that they might eventually make up. They were thanking one another for making their lives better. Who does that?

--UA: To be fair, I think all characters look older than when the show began. If you look at old clips showing David, Eladio, Arturo and Erick, you'll notice the difference. They look older and some look like they put on a few pounds. I think it's a nice touch from the wardrobe and makeup people (or even from the actors themselves) to give us the illusion that we witnessed these characters grow up physically (and regress emotionally!)

I agree. Only something like a year has passed since the opening episode but everyone looks a bit older somehow. Eladio's hair is dark grey, which might be FC's real color by now. He does wear it well. Erick's hair is slightly improved although it doesn't make him look any more intelligent.

Nandicta, I wonder if we viewers all look older after enduring this craziness all these months ! Maybe it just feels that way.

Where's my drink, and are you wearing shoes? I am still looking for a coin to flip for the winning villain contest.

Delilah,

you didn't specify what you'd like to drink. The premise was to chose one character you'd like to see die and of course if you insist we'll leave your choices as listed, but remember if everyone chooses four we'll soon be left with only Nina. Maybe Nandicta would like to transfer her selection to you like farmers here in Texas transfer cotton allotments.

Susanlynn,

You're in luck, we do have pugs in a blanket and one Asti Spumante coming up.

Nandicta,

Moscata Rosé we got, as for baked Pancetta-wrapped figs stuffed with goat cheese... how about a pug in blanket instead?

UA,

"Humberto... putting him in a cut-rate retirement home is what he deserves..."

How about a room at Bed Death and Beyond?

Carlos

Cynderella I see what you are saying about Eladio's list of crimes and if this were real life I would be against him. However, FC does such a masterful job that I just can't quit my Hotladio. JS has always been a handsome man and I find myself normally liking his characters, but in this TN Art simply falls flat for me. I don't see a layered character that I can be invested in. What am I rooting for? For him to reclaim the woman he cheated on years ago when he had her? I find the whole plot poorly written. There's nothing that forbid Julia/Arturo from being together except his out of control libido and wandering eye. It's not like he was tricked into marriage by Susana or Miguel was passed off as his falsely. Art is a chump. His callous dismissal of Nina after all these years for no other reason than that he now wants Julia further turned me off. Nina needed to be abusive, or having a stable of men in order for me to see how she deserved this treatment. Being a narcissistic social climber isn't enough for me. Im sure mileage varies on this one.

Cynderella,

"Eladio is a complete psycho... I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy."

And yet as I recall, you were rather fond of that murderous lunatic, Gambino, in Abismo de Pasión. Have your standards changed?

Carlos

While I usually prefer......"life without the possibility of parole," in the spirit of the patio I'll say, "Die Erick Die!" Reasons posted earlier....a Frida Margarita with a plate of nachos...

Cyn,"Last night's divorce talk
between Art and Nina made me think that they might eventually make up. They were thanking one another for making their lives better. Who does that?" I got the same vibe, but I've been silent, quivering my boots, afraid of patio nerfazos cracking the windshield of my used (bought from some rich person) car!

Carlos..I have to ask...What are you drinking right this minute? Also, I am nervous about the ASPC folks coming after us. I have the uncomfortable feeling that I should have kept that particular faux pas re: pugs ...to myself. Kind of like Jamie oversharing with Claire about his idea about the similarities between horses and humans. ;) Next.

Bed Death and Beyond for Hum. Yes. That leaves Franky and Err. ...so close. And the winner is......

Whatever happened to that guy who played Gambino? He reminds me of one of the pirates on Black Sails. For that matter, where are Big Ed Yanez and Marcelo C.? I miss them. Also, is Adela Noriego ever coming back to telenovelas?

Sandy..no worries..just do not ask for another rich person's used car in a couple months! We are not having that.

Susanlynn,

pugs in a blanket

I think that NovelaMaven would approve of me going for that low hanging fruit.

Actually, as this very moment I'm sippin' Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale which my former receptionist Darla brought from Kentucky as a birthday gift. It's a little stronger than your average beer.

Carlos

Carlos,

I would love an Amaretto on the rocks please ;-). As for keeping it to only one...that will be hard as right now I loathe several. However if I must at this moment put one in front of the firing squad it will have to be Arturo. I loathe him with the intensity of a thousand suns! Simply by reason that he is not even entertaining to me. That alone is the crime. I can at least say Hummy, Erick and Franco keep me interested. Art is simply to dull to live. If Julia chooses him over my Hotladio I think she will eventually die from sheer boredom.

How is Darla? I'll bet that she misses you. My Dr. Harvey just retired. His replacement is Doogie Howser. A very sweet guy. I think that he is about 14. I think I scare him a little.

I still have not made it to the state store to buy Drambuie. I must do that because April 9 is just around the corner. Slainte!

Hey, guess what!!...I am making baked corn pudding for Easter. Ah, tradition.

-- Susanlynn: "I wonder if we viewers all look older after enduring this craziness all these months!" It certainly feels that way. This ratchet drama is definitely messing with my emotions!

-- Carlos: I'll take a pug in a blanket, please. I'll name him Gordi and snuggle with him during novela time.

-- Cyn and Sandy: I got the impression that Nina and Arturo might get back together at the end of the show. They'll be missing a kid or two but I can totally see Nina forgiving him and taking him back. She said a few times before that she's willing to forgive whatever happened between him and Julia and start over for the sake of their family.

-- Delilah: "Art is simply too dull to live. If Julia chooses him over my Hotladio I think she will eventually die from sheer boredom." Hahahaha! And that's why I'm really rooting for Julia and Art to get together, so that they can both be disappointed!

Sandy,

I haven't forgotten you. I still haven't found a recipe for a Frida Margarita which is a surprise to me. Also,do you want that frozen, on the rocks, or straight up? I make a very good Margarita using Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver, triple sec, and a combination of lime and lemon juice served straight up in a Martini glass rimmed with a mix of black salt and crushed rock sugar.

We have nachos but the pugs in a blanket also seem to be surprisingly popular.

Carlos

Delilah..yes, Art seems barely able to stay awake. Evidently being obsessed takes a lot out of a guy.

Carlos...Here I am LingOL..alone in the room.Sometimes I worry about me.

Nandicta...Just keep repeating ..."These people are not real."..well, except for Hotladio. He is real.

Carlos, thanks for your personal attention to my order. I'll take your specially crafted Margarita, straight up, and yes, the snuggly pug in a blanket sounds delightful.

Carlos, Gambino only killed two people....ok maybe three. I'm pretty sure that it was three. He was misunderstood. My standards have not changed. I love Evil Eladio. It's this nice one with who wears panties that irritates me. I loved him when was crazy, this nice one who lets people walk all over him is driving me crazy.

Gosh, I wish Julia would love me, he says while he's knitting. He's so annoying.

sandy..may I suggest that you take two of those pugs in a blanket..they are small..just asayin'. Perhaps you would enjoy one of Carlos's other specialities..a Dark and Stormy.

Sandy in TN: You say what you want to say, girl! I am not politically correct. I have been cussed out by an unhappy person at least on every telenovela that I've ever recapped. After a while, you don't care. Art and Nina will get back together...their I said it. He doesn't deserve her, but she loves him. Technically, all he did was make out with another woman at a church in front of the cross...so I can see them getting back together. She really hasn't done anything to deserve a divorce I my OPINION.

Delilah,

Relax, sit back and enjoy your Amaretto on the rocks secure in the knowledge that soon Arturo will be sleeping with the fishes.

Susanlynn,

Darla is doing fine. She works as a teacher's assistant at an elementary school in nearby Conroe. By the way, was the original source of the notorious corn pudding recipe. I'm hoping that she and Nurse Kelli may be able to join the Lovely Linda and me at a nearby sports bar to watch the Baylor (Go Bears!) Yale NCAA Tournament game Thursday afternoon. Nurse Kelli by the way is school nurse at (seriously) Cut and Shoot Elementary in (where else?) Cut and Shoot. Kathy does insurance claims for several Dr.s from home.

Nandicta,

Cute!

Carlos

Cynderella...mphhmp...Well, Eladio has lost his edge shall we say. Not very proactive. The writers seemed to have suddenly rewritten his character description after the first few episodes of him yelling and shoving everyone around with steam coming out of his ears. I kind of like sweet Eladio , but I wish that he would stop the groveling under Julia's tasteful heels. You can be sweet and strong. I need some of that.

Darn it, I meant to say..."there, I said it".

Susanlynn: OK, so back to my beloved Gambino. The actor is bald now, but he still can rock a pair of Levi's like no other.

Nandicta...you are still awesome.

Carlos...I have to ask...Is Cut and Shoot the name of a city? Town? Township? We have some pretty unusual place names around here.

Bed, Death, and Beyond for Humberto. I'll drink to that, Carlos. Make it a frozen Margarita.

Cynderella..Speaking of jeans, how do you feel about kilts?

Cynderella,

"Gosh, I wish Julia would love me, he says while he's knitting. He's so annoying."

You really crack me up. Can't I interest you in a drink and a virtual hit on an annoying character?

Carlos

"Delilah,

Relax, sit back and enjoy your Amaretto on the rocks secure in the knowledge that soon Arturo will be sleeping with the fishes."

Aye Carlos, you smooth talker. I want to marry this entire post. Then make Hotladio love all over it! ;-)

Susanlynn, I'm not feeling kilts. Me and my man can't both wear a skirt. I realize what they are, but and man's hairy knees are not sexy. In my OPINION.

"Gosh, I wish Julia would love me, he says while he's knitting. He's so annoying."

Hilarious! My poor Hotladio, that therapist has somewhat neutered him. Though I've not given up on him. There's still time to spring up from his rocker, take the ball of yarn and wrap it around Arturo's throat before driving a knitting needle through his heart. I won't be mad at him. Extra points if he does a decent scarf for Nina as a parting gift.

Carlos, yes, I like sweet drinks. I hate all of these characters. I've never felt that way about a TN before. I do like Humberto. He can't get around like that rest of them, but he is sly. I like that.

Here's a question. Where is Justin's little girl? He's been dating a lot,

Yes. Delilah63, that is what I want. Make him like the Rocky Balboa of evil. Get up and kick Art's a$$.

Oh, Cynderella..You do not know what you are missing. They call it "knee porn." And , do you remember when you explained to me why Miss Vicki in AV never wore capris? Now...give the concept of kilts another thought. Aye? Just saying.

Carlos..okay, I have decided. I've gone back to my original selection...Erick. I think it's the combination of stupidity and arrogance that I cannot stand. He always reminds me of a running joke that was popular around here..."Give me your smart look. "

I had to identify French fries to prove that I'm not a robot...now I'm hungry. I could really go for a pug in a blanket!

UA,

You got it. A frozen Margarita (made from scratch) for you and the deluxe room (which overlooks the dumpster) for Humberto. Would you like for nature to be allowed to take its course or would you like him signed up for the daily Happy Hour where special cocktails (if you get my drift) are served?

Susanlynn,

Cut and Shoot claims to be a city though I'd be more inclined to call it a town. We once owned property there and at one time were planning to retire there. After moving to Magnolia (well, really Decker Prairie) we sold that land.

Cynderella,

If you like sweet drinks, how about a piña colada (I love those.. the best I ever had was in the airport in Jamaica) or maybe a Tom Collins (the first legal mixed drink I ever ordered... in Bossier City, Louisiana).

If you want, something unfortunate could always happen to the little girl.

Carlos

Wow...I was out tonight, and while I was gone a lot of sassy back and forth goin' on here. Knee porn, pugs in a blanket, Hotladio stabbing Arturo with a knitting needle, I should go out more often!

I'm hopeless with alcohol though...still, reading about all your drinks is great fun. And Carlos, I would die for just one sip of your Margarita. Sounds divine. You'd have to finish the rest of my drink. Deal?

Carlos..yikes, Carlos..the little girl. Yikes No more pugs in the blanket for you, sir.

Gee, where ever did they get Cut and Shoot? What does that even mean? I am hoping that it has nothing to do with an actual knife and gun. Yikes again. Now, Magnolia is a lovely place name. Amish country is not very far from here and has the most unusual names..such as Paradise.

I used to drink Tom Collins and Gin Fizzes back in the day! I love Pina Coladas, and I have a Cuban friend vwho makes delicious Mojitos. My first legal drink out was a Brandy Alexander. It was really tasty , so I did not realize that it was all liquor until my scallops started moving around on my dinner plate. I have a very low tolerance for alcohol. My cousins owned a bar and used to make me Pink Squirrels, a sickeningly sweet drink that looks exactly like Pepto Bismo.

Judy,

Welcome to the I Hope They Die Table where there's plenty of good fellowship and dreams can come true. Of course I'd be happy to finish your Margarita although I think that after you taste it you may want to finish it yourself. They seem small.

Now which character most annoys you? It's just possible that he (or she) might not show up for roll call someday soon.

Carlos

Susanlynn,

"Carlos..yikes, Carlos..the little girl."

I know, I know, but Cynderella did mention her... so. The only time I can remember saying that I'd like a character to die here at Caray Caray, it was about an insufferable little boy who annoyed me no end. Later I got to worrying what the folks here might think of me for saying such a dreadful awful thing so I went back to delete my comment but too late... several other posters had already echoed my sentiments.

Carlos

Oh dear...alright, here's my abject confession. The person who most annoys me is Miguel.

There. I've said it.

But I don't want him to die. JUST GO AWAY.

Caridad is running a close second, in terms of annoyance. But no death wish. Just take the nearest exit.

Can I just sit at a Cranky No Death Penalty Table? Maybe with a tepid laCroix drink in my hand...as befits a Karmageddon Wuss?

Caridad. She refuses to see that she is now betraying the daughter-in-law she claims to love. She doesn't seem to want to know that she can't have it both ways. She is also a fool if she actually thinks she has another shot at Eladio.

Judy,

Rest easy, enjoy that Margarita, but there's a very good chance that Miguel won't be annoying you for much longer... remember Puppy Lake that our gentle little Eli once mentioned?

UA,

Caridad? Caridead. NEXT!

Susanlynn,

I'm not sure exactly how Cut and Shoot really got its name, colorful stories abound, but I'm relatively certain that guns and knives figured in.

Carlos

Well, yawn. The Voice is over, and I have to get up at 5.20, so I am off to bed. (Ask not for whom the alarm clock tolls..it tolls for me.)

Nightynight, judyb....Miguel, huh?..too needy?

Yikes, Carlos..Cut and Shoot is really named after weapons??? Is it near Duck and Cover by any chance. Have you ever read any of the colorful names of Pennsylvania's Amish country? Goggle it.

Shhh...Dont mention Puppy Lake in front of the p-u-g-s.

Caridad? Caridead?..groan....As I said..It is getting late..off to bed.

-- Susanlynn: Guid nicht, bonnie lass! One of the first sentences in Scots that my friends challenged me to repeat, as a way to show their affection and take the mickey at the same time, was this tongue-twister: "It’s a braw bricht moonlit nicht the nicht" ("It's a good bright moonlight night tonight").

-- Carlos: Since you're managing the orders so effortlessly at the "I Hope They Die" Table, and in view of many of our Patio Pals' reluctance to send characters to Hades, how about operating a small adjoining "Send Them to Tabasco" Table? I'm voting to exile Consuelo, Miguel and the WTF gang. However, if I only get one pick, I'd like to go with Consuelo.

Hands down, most annoying kid in any show, all genres included, was Adela Noriega's little brother in "La Esposa Virgen"

Actually my vote for most annoying kid was Sebastian in Mi Corazon es Tuyo.

Most annoying kid ever was Osorio's kid in PEAM. Ask Fernando C.

Cynderella,
Thanks for the recap. You had me LOL at work, and I needed that today.

Carlos,
I know it's late, but that Margarita sounded really good. I'll take some pugs in a blanket too if there are any left.

My vote is,
Die, Erick, Die!!!!!!

Hasta Pronto

Carlos: are you suggesting Miguel gets whacked ?

I'm in agreement with everyone on Aahmore being the catalyst for Daniela'a downfall & it's going to be epic!

I've said this before & will again: Regina will be the last Montenegro left standing!

Thinking out loud.......most here are disappointed that Eladio hasn't told Julia about Marintia and the baby. I'm conflicted on this. Quite often in a family, a child will come to one parent with a bad grade, speeding ticket or something along these lines. This one parent handles the situation and doesn't spill the secret to the other parent. Some things can be very important like an unwanted pregnancy. (I don't have a daughter!) I don't think you are always obliged to tell secrets to the other parent. This keeps important lines of communication open between the child and parents. Should we condemn Eladio for keeping Franco's secrets? He is in a very tough situation. Don't have the answer, I'm just mulling it over.

Sandy..You are right. Sometimes, a child approaches one parent about something , but in our house, that parent usually then tells the other parent....unless there has been something that hubba has never told me. Hmmmm I think that transparency would be the best path for Eladio, but he is so used to keeping things from Julia . The situation with Julia is bad, and he is terrified of making it worse. Thus, he and she and we are in this frustrating holding pattern. Somebody has to break the spell and just DO SOMETHING. #beproactive

UA and Anon,

Aren't ya'll talking about the same kid?

AuntyAnn,

Sorry to take so long in getting to you. Welcome to the I Hope They Die Table. Perhaps you might want to wait until this afternoon for that Margarita. Meanwhile you might prefer a refreshing mimosa or a spicy eye-opening Bloody Mary. The pugs in a blanket were a surprising success but there are still a few left. Erick, huh? I think I could have seen that coming. A popular choice.

Steve,

I don't make suggestions, I just fill requests. Would you care for a drink? Are you aware that you were the primary inspiration for this I Hope They Die Table? I think that at one time or another that you have predicted death for most of the main characters.

Sandy,

Over the years I've faced similar questions by parents. When I was a young Dr. I felt that I always dispensed wise advice and at that time I likely would have had a quick and certain answer. Now... well, I'll have to think about it and even then the answer likely won't be the correct one. That said I'll offer this, the child should first be given the opportunity to deal with the information in a timely fashion. Secondly, when in doubt, the truth is generally a reliable (if usually uncomfortable) default position.

Carlos

Carlos: We both agree that Ashmore has something planned for Daniela & it's NOT going to end well for her!

The truth sooner or later almost always comes out. At that time, people can feel hurt and angry because they feel tgat they have been betrayed and tricked. Eladio should just bite the bullet and go for full disclisure.

Dang, there was a party here and I missed it! Carlos, is it too late to get a mimosa at the I Hope They Die Table on the patio?

I actually don't want anyone to die. Erick is the worse. But I'd rather see him share a prison cell with his favorite thug-for-hire than dead.

Franco is my runner-up, due to how he's scamming Gaby (the retaliation hit on Erick no longer bugs me). I don't blame him for a venganza against Eladio, as dumb as that is. He should've taken his 20% shares and skedaddled though. I want to see him broke and living in a tiny apartment, with Caridad and Marintia hovering around and driving him nuts.

I want to see Humberto hit it big at the roulette table and then having Eladio or Arturo swoop in and take it all away from him.

Carlos, that was the same kid actor. I will take everyone else's word for PEAM because I watched it with half an eye after a while, but he did get whiny and annoying in MCET, which I was on the team for.

As for whether Eladio should tell Julia about Franco's indiscretion, I don't see how it will help anything. Julia would be very torn up about whether or not to tell Gabriela and would have something else to be indecisive about (which will eat up more episodes). Since this is also evidence of history repeating itself she would probably blame Eladio for Franco being the way he is and she would be more right than wrong. More importantly it would be contrary to his own best interests because it would push Julia that much farther away.

Niecie, I like the idea of Humberto's winnings being taken away from him. Or better yet, let him have a heart attack and die at the table.

Erick should be in a prison cell with Pedro.

Franco should have taken his 20% and ran; he would have been better off. I can understand his motives for the venganza, but he's not smart enough to pull it off without a major hitch.

Carlos,
I will opt for the bloody Mary since I had lab work done today. And if there are any pugs left I'll reheat them. I am hungry since I had to fast today for the bloodwork I had done. Thanks for offering all these drinks for us out here on the patio.
Hasta pronto!

Sounds like a wild party out on the patio today, I'm almost afraid to enter.

Pugs in a blanket? Would I get arrested for trying one? Could this be an evil plot to finally get rid of the damn gringo? You guys will hear me yelling "I'll get even" as I'm being dragged away.

I Wish They Would Die Table---No deaths for me. Just put Erick and Franco in a cell together and the thought of Humberto back in the rest home with his rooms one window next to the dumpster sounds great to me.

Urban---Did your dinner at your favorite place work out well last night?

must see tv
the gringo

Yes, it was fine.

This is a crazy week for me. You will be getting me tomorrow night subbing for NovelaMaven.

Niecie,

Sorry to keep you waiting. A cool refreshing mimosa is being prepared. I like your projected futures for Erick and Franco are quite acceptable to me and I'd bet for most. I'm sorta soft on Humberto so I'm hoping the worthless drug company that Arturo is giving him suddenly turns around and is crazy successful. Take that, Arturo.

AuntyAnn,

Here's hoping that your labwork is all good. Enjoy a well deserved Bloody Mary garnished with a tiny pickled okra as they do it in New Orleans. The pugs in a blanket are good for either snacking or snuggling. You decide.

gringo,

No worry about being arrested and dragged away. Nina is friends with the judge and the cops. What'll you have to drink?

The Lovely Linda and I had a marvelous lunch of Gulf oysters on the half shell, cold spicy boiled gulf shrimp, and barbecued Dungeness crab flown in fresh from California. A lot of effort to eat but delicious.

Carlos

Oh my...scunds scrumptious...I'm having a baked potato during the break between class and a meeting tonight. But wow...I'll be thinking about your meal instead!

Toasted cheese sandwiches, coleslaw , and a glass of milk here..plus we finished up the last of the pugs in a blanket. I do not care for seafood , but hubba loves it. Can't wait to see if there is any movement forward by anyone on PyP tonight.

Steve please remember the rules of this site. No politics and definitely no insulting of a sitting president.
