Pasion y Poder #108 20160321 Eladio is a Better Man, but a Boring Villain
This recap has not been edited. I'm way too tired. The last ten minutes of this recap is sketchy. My signal kept going in an out. I missed a lot of what was going on.
Julia's still pissed because Nina called her a homewrecker. She recounts the sordid scene with Humberto. Humberto tells Julia that Nina has no class. The hand that "rocked her cradle wasn't wearing a diamond".
Dani wants to cook Dave a romantic dinner. As soon as Dave leaves the room, Dani calls Petra-Samantha, who walks her through the preparation.
Lucita WTF asks Caridad to be her grandmother. Caridad agrees.
Julia visits Dave and they argue over the divorce. Both Dave and Julia are stupid. Really stupid. Instead of rejoicing that she is free from her abuser, Julia is obsessing over why Eladio divorced her first. Who cares? One less beating to endure, one less egg to fry! Duh! Dave who has forgotten that Eladio sired Franco and boinked the Ratt reminds Julia that men don't like to be cheated on. Julia's all like...if Eladio loved me, he wouldn't have divorced me! Anyways, Julia finds the keys that Dani conveniently left on his counter. Dave tells Julia that he doesn't owe her an explanation. Julia is shocked that Dave didn't realize that Dani just pulled an alternative version of the old marking your territory by "leaving your underwear at his house trick". Or is it the old leave an item at his house trick so that he will have to contact you again.
Over at the Montenegro Mansion, Dani is doing the opposite of the Walk of Shame when she enters the mansion. Dani tells Gina that she and Dave had a great evening. Booze, dinner and some smooches. Gina looks painfully constipated.
In the garden, Connie thanks Erick for allowing her to see the baby. She tells him that she told Miguel to stop the expose about the judge. Erick says as long as she behaves, she can continue to see the baby.
Art and Auggie bring Angeles into the office and fire her. She is told that she can hit the bricks on her own or they will have her arrested for industrial espionage. They show her the fake newspaper article about Art trying to charter a new Businessmen's Association.
Angeles calls Franco and tells him that she got the heave ho. Franco's like too bad so sad. He's a busy man. Angeles threatens to expose him if she doesn't meet with her immediately. Franco is on his way.
Gaby tells Julia that she's barren. Humberto rolls in and tells Gaby that God cursed her because she married that bum, Franco. He's not from good seed. Gaby leaves and Julia defends Franco to Humberto. Humberto says that he cares about Gaby and only wants to see her happy. That's why he berates her.
Franco shows Eladio the article. As soon as Franco leaves, Eladio calls someone and tells them that the Maya Rivera Project must be stopped.
Eladio and Callao visit Art and Auggie. Eladio tells Art that he is going to put an end to the Maya Rivera Project. Anytime Art messes with his personal life, Eladio will mess with Art's business. Art tells Eladio that he's fired his snitch Angeles, but Eladio doesn't have a clue about her. Art says good, because I also told your wife that Franco is your kid. Eladio swings at Art and this causes a massive brawl...again. Yawn. Callao and Auggie tear the two apart as usual.
Nina tells Fanny about the confrontation with Julia. Fanny advises Nina to sell her shares after the divorce. She tells her to leave Julia alone because Eladio will be her worst enemy if she pisses him off. He might stamp his foot and call her a meanie....he is still THE.WORST.VILLAIN.EVER! Nina says that she can't sell her shares and retire to Bora Bora. Her kids need her. The girls are dating the wrong men and the boy is a jerk. She's got to stay and Eff them up some more.
After Eladio and Callao bounce, Auggie tells Art that he is going to far. Auggie can see Eladio's point of view. Art has always looked down on him and Art is trying to steal his wife. Those are kind of like "fighting words". Auggie thinks that Art should reassess his relationship with Julia. Julia didn't even tell Art that she was divorced. Art has destroyed his marriage and his kids lives over a chick who doesn't even seem to like him.
Meanwhile, Angeles tells Franco that she needs help. If Franco won't help her, she will tells his wife and the press that Franco is a ...wait for it...Information Stealer! That's all she's got? That's pretty weak. Well, anyway, Franco doesn't want people to think that he's an information stealer, so he offers her a job in his new company. She will be the face of the company run it from her home. Angeles thinks that he's yanking her chain. She calls it a ghost company. Franco assures her that the company will be real. He will be in total charge of the company. They will purchase all the GLA shares from minor share holders. Franco reminds her that she has committed industrial espionage and can be arrested. She will not be getting a raving reference from Montenegro. Angeles agrees.
Eladio finds Julia at the foundation and tells her that he's disappointed that she didn't tell him that Art told her that Franco is is kid. Julia is pissed that Eladio didn't tell her first. Eladio walks Julia home. Before he leaves, he tells Humberto that he will kill him if he finds out that Humberto betrayed him with Art. Humberto denies it, but Eladio is not buying it. Eladio says that he will go to jail, he doesn't care.
Dave stops by the Montenegro mansion and picks a fight with Jorge. Dave accuses Jorge of being a social climber who is using Gina to boost business. Jorge accuses Dave of dating Dani for revenge. He tells Dave that he will NEVER get Gina back. Dave says that he and Gina split up because she refused to fight for their love. Gina comes out and tells Dave to leave Jorge alone. Dani comes out and Dave apologizes to her for disrespecting her. Dave and Dani are making plans to go to the beach. After Dave leaves, Dani tells Gina that she's stupid.
Auggie tells Art that the Maya Rivera project has been officially stopped.
Clara will wear Connie's wedding dress down the aisle.
Humberto tells Julia to dump Eladio. Julia finally questions how Art learned about Franco.
Eladio visits the vet for his follow-up appointment after he was neutered. The vet was just about to recommend that Eladio remove the cone of shame, but because he got in a spat with Art, the doctor left it on for another week. Eladio tells the psychiatrist he almost lost it when Art revealed that he was the one who told Julia about Eladio. The doctor thinks that Eladio is making progress. Eladio is becoming a better man and I hate it. Eladio says that he will crush the person who betrayed him.
Dani tells Petra that she will ask her parents to give her a few days off. Dave loved the mill. Petra wants to know who will watch the baby while she's gone. Dani says that she will do it. Petra doesn't like that.
Caridad is looking at a picture of her grandchild when Gaby walks up to her. Gaby looks at the photo and says that the baby looks familiar. Caridad says that Mateo is a foundation baby who's waiting to be adopted. Gaby goes to Franco and tells him about the picture of Mateo. She wants to adopt him. Franco says hell no!
Miguel shows Art his expose on the judge. Art tells Miguel not to piss Erick or the judge off. He promises to help Consuelo and approves of his relationship with her...I think.
Justino WTF asks Dave to be his godfather at the wedding. Dave says yes.
Gina tells Nina that she's pissed that Dani is dating Dave. Art is not riding Dani's back.
Auggie tells Nina to stay away from Julia. He also encourages her not to do anything to hurt Art in business. If he's shares fall, so it affects her. If Art goes down, so does she. Mind Blown!

I 've got to say that I watched this episode on our big TV, and during that confrontation between Eladio and Art, the power, passion, and testosterone was dripping out of the screen. Those green, young hombres have nothing on these seasoned guys.What is with David and the cardigans? Is he Mr. Roberts in a this crazy neighborhood?
Dani's cat eyes kind of creeped me out on that big screen.

So...instead of hiring a nanny, Petra has been watching the baby,and Flighty Dani will babysit while Petra is away for a few days. Yikes. Something bad is going to happen.

I think Arturo has come to realize that nothing could have prevented this and he's better off not fighting it. However, I think it's time Augustin got involved.

My favorite was when Dave raved about the wonderful (probably grilled cheese sandwich) meal Dani prepared, and Petra said she taught Dani everything she knows, in the kitchen, but she can't lay claim to teaching her "THE REST" of the stuff she knows. Classic Petra.

Fast and furious Cynderella. Heat, angst and anger. Sensational.

"Art has destroyed his marriage and his kids lives over a chick who doesn't even seem to like him". Hmm. Augustin’s musings made me uncomfortable as they seem reasonable. I am loathe to admit it but Nina expressed a similar sentiment which also resounded.
Whether Julia and Eladio will end up together will be determined. But the truth is, even though there are strong feelings and emotions, they have done little but hurt each other to the core. If Julia is willing to forgive Eladio for the world of hurt he has put her through, then so be it. But reconciliation can't occur without truth. There is still too much hidden and if Eladio does not tell Julia about Mateo, he will lose her forever (if he hasn't already!). The truth IS out there.
Clara will wear Connie's wedding dress down the aisle. Umm, really? Consuelo is so tiny I don’t think her baby would fit in that dress.

Arturo didn't destroy his family; Nina did by raising two entitled brats who thrive on destroying their non-toxic siblings. She needs to own up to this.
With or without Julia Arturo would have realized how shallow his marriage was. When Nina's looks would begin fading big time he'd see there was nothing else to her beyond her looks and her sexual skills. She hated having to entertain clients because she hated their wives. She has no real friends and no family that we have ever seen. Or was ever mentioned. At this late date it doesn't seem likely we will ever know much about them.
This seems to me to be a big reason she insisted that their kids remain in the mansion although they were all old enough to be on their own.

Jorge and Regina have history and I don't think he needs her for that. His work ethic impresses Arturo enough so he doesn't need to become a son-in-law. All he has to do is make sure his company does a good job for Arturo's and that will get him more clients. Regina would be a bonus.
However, as to Arturo's limited involvement in the upbringing of his children I've said it before: We can't hold him to a parenting standard his culture didn't expect of him. I will speculate that -- contrary to what she says now -- Nina was perfectly OK with this and probably preferred it. It could have been the standard of his parents' generation.
There's one more thing: Since Arturo has never mentioned his mother I consider it possible that she died when he was very young, perhaps too young to remember her. That would likely make him want a full-time mother for his own children.

Thank you Cynderella! I was feeling very blah this morning, but your recap got me laughing and perked me up. I love the "opposite walk of shame" and "Hum loves Gaby that is why he berates her." These are just a couple.

IF that happens it will be worse than what Eladio did to Julia by having her raise his son. Another crazy and wishful thought on my mind is that it would be ironic if Franco isnt even Eladios son. He probably is, but that would be hilarious.
Consuelo telling Err that she would do "anything" to see her son is exactly where Err wants her. Now he wants her dolled up so he can take her out and have privileges with her.
I still think Eric gave Nina a confession that the rat going over the balcony was his version and he is lying saying it was an accident, but it really wasn't. He always manipulates Niina by twisting things to make her eagerly believe whatever comes from his mouth.
I know we all have our own beliefs, it will be fun to see what really happened to Montsy rat.
I havent commented because I couldnt catch up with recap and comments till now. Here is a sincere thank you to all recappers and commenters for your time and keeping us all entertained. You guys really make my day.

Consuelo telling Err that she would do "anything" to see her son is exactly where Err wants her. Now he wants her dolled up so he can take her out and have privileges with her.
I still think Eric gave Nina a confession that the rat going over the balcony was his version and he is lying saying it was an accident, but it really wasn't. He always manipulates Niina by twisting things to make her eagerly believe whatever comes from his mouth.
I know we all have our own beliefs, it will be fun to see what really happened to Montsy rat.
I havent commented because I couldnt catch up with recap and comments till now. Here is a sincere thank you to all recappers and commenters for your time and keeping us all entertained. You guys really make my day.

I am actually surprised that the writers did this unless it will be to prove later that Franco could throw her under the bus for this. Gaby needs a second opinion. It's not like they've been trying for five years with no success.

Here's a thought that's been driving me nuts for many episodes: Why doesn't Consuelo threaten Erick to withdraw her testimony that gave him an alibi on the night of MontZorrat's murder? Just look him dead in the eyes and say that her sentence for perjury will in no way match his for first-degree murder! Ha! ¿Cómo lo ves, Chimp Boy?
Because I spent two weeks watching Osorio's handy work over on "Sueño de Amor", his tendency to reduce, reuse, recycle old material has rubbed off on me. That is why I have no qualms about copying and pasting a very late comment I posted last night on the thread for Friday's episode and that most of you would've missed. Here it goes:
"Mexico is only 16 episodes away from the finale. This is the slogan they use at the end of their avances and promocionales videos: "¿Gómez Luna o Montenegro, de qué lado estas? El final se acerca." ("Gómez Luna or Montenegro, on which side are you? The end is approaching.") #YoSoyGómezLuna #IAmGómezLuna. How about you, guys?
Part of me will be sad to see this TN go but, for the most part, I think I will be relieved. This crazy ratchet drama messed up with my emotions big time. The producer's and the writer's work leaves much to be desired but the main foursome, especially Colunga, were fantastic in this train wreck! I've been coaxed by my friends to follow the Mexico broadcast now that our WhatsApp chitchats upgraded to a weekly Skype session. Bashing these characters in Spanish is a lot more fun; besides, my friends got me hooked on checking the comments on Twitter and Facebook and they are out-of-this-world funny! The frustration of the viewers is palpable and hilarious! There is also that sense of guilty pleasure, of feeling silly for getting so emotionally involved with such flawed and reprehensible characters. This show is generating great buzz compared to other TNs. There are several hundreds of tweets and FB comments during and after every episode. #Eladio has been a trending topic in Mexico on Twitter several times. I would really invite you to check out the show's Facebook page (AFTER the finale airs in the US, por supuesto) to revisit the marking moments of this TN and read some of the funniest commentary.

OT: I just read an article in People en español abolir Frente al mismo rostro which is now called Tres Veces Ana: http://m.peopleenespanol.com/article/la-nueva-telenovela-de-angelique-boyer-se-estrenara-primero-en-estados-unidos it says it will premiere in the US before Mexico during the first week of May at 9pm. So does this mean after this week, we have 5 weeks of P y P left?
There is an interesting topic I was meaning to address for a while. UA had expressed her unease at the way Ashmore portrays US citizens before. In my humble opinion, this character represents nobody but himself. I don't find it offensive if a fictional character of my nationality, ethnicity, religious or cultural background is portrayed as a criminal, drug dealer, terrorist, sadist, etc because I feel that they represent nobody but themselves and the crushing majority of viewers are smart enough to make the distinction. Viewers in Mexico call Ashmore a "viejo raboverde" (dirty old man) or "viejo corrupto" (corrupt old man). I rarely saw or heard that he was referred to as "gringo" and when that was the case, the term "gringo" was used as an identifier, never as a slur, because they couldn't remember/spell his name. He was called "gringo" the way Humberto was called "viejo", "anciano" or "abuelo". Just an identifier rather than a pejorative term. I personally like Ashmore, or rather the way this actor has portrays him. I think he is doing a good job. His accent isn't a caricature, his performance is nuanced and his character was gradually revealed as a corrupt and corrupting influence, which consistently held my interest as a viewer.
One last thing, Delilah and I are siding with the Gómez Luna family in this inexplicable and crazy feud. What about you, Patio Pals? (Btw, it's "estás" with an accent in "¿de qué lado estás?". Apologies).

I missed hanging out with you guys but my PyP Patio en español dropped another spoiler on me the other day so I gave up and decided to watch ahead and follow their broadcast. Mexico is almost in Últimos capítulos and following the frenzy on Twitter and Facebook is addictive. I don't participate, I just lurk and savor the hilarity! I also get to Skype with two of my friends about the show and having their friends or family members throw in their two cents as they walk past the computer is just priceless! Last weekend, my friend's abuela hijacked the conversation and she and I spent two hours of quick-fire Spanish repartee, bashing mercilessly these stoopid, immoral and "promiscuous" characters! David and Regina are practically "dead" to me and to that sweet señora! We will never forgive their pseudo-incestuous triangle with Daniela! :D
P.S. I haven't had a chance to watch the first season of "Outlander" yet but I'll try to binge-watch it some time over the Easter holidays, then I'll gladly join the hero's swooning squad! :)

A BIG thank you Cynderella, snarky as always. Everyone has mentioned their favorite lines and there were some great ones but I'm surprised that the one that caught my eye wasn't mentioned. Her it is---Eladio visits the vet for his follow-up appointment after he was neutered.
Steve---Arturo needs to share the blame too because of his lack of involvement as a father due to his obsession over Julia. Steve---Art didn't start obsessing over Julia until about half way or maybe a little more than halfway through the show. Before that, he was mostly busy at work but when he actually did try to get involved, Nina was in his face every step of the way.
Suffer through three more weeks??? I am GREATLY anticipating each and every night. My seat is front and center each night with no suffering whatsoever.

I'm fine if Julia wants to keep Eladio. As the saying goes, "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." If Eladio has reformed [and I'll believe that if he fesses up about Mateo and asks for Julia's advice on how to tell Gaby], it'd be a shame for new woman to reap the benefits. After all that torment, Julia deserves to be the one letting the good times roll times with him.
Eladio and Julia have great chemistry, but I personally prefer Art. He has screwed up in a royal way, but it was all from the heart and I love how JL is playing it. Any moment now, I'm expecting Art to physically collapse under the stress.

So, regarding PyP, I am on team Gomez Luna - #YoSoyGómezLuna #IAmGómezLuna - yup! Eladio is being transformed into Jean Valjean (or whatever bad guy that does good things you want to pick). Notice I said transformed. His earlier behavior was dangerous and despicable, really!! So, I am going with the new writing and accepting that Eladio's path to some form of redemption is sincere. As I have said before, he shows up for therapy which is more than our friends from the Montenegro side of the street. The lie about Franco's kid will be one of the ongoing flaws that undoes him along with the obsession with Julia.
The other flaw that all these characters have- over and over and over - that is driving me nuts is the inability to 1.) have a complete conversation to clarify potential misconceptions and / or 2.) have a group of adults sit in the same room, at say, the dinner table, and negotiate relationships and expectations and misunderstandings.
Cognitive, psychodynamic and behavioral therapy is still available at the patio table. I keep advertising. Behavioral may be the hot ticket being offered to our cast today since everyone seems to be conditioned to react at the sound of an "archenemy" name. "Nina" or "Caridad"and Julia reacts, "Arturo" and Eladio reacts, "Erik" and Consuelo and Miguel react, "David" and Regina and Daniela react and "Julia", Nina, Arturo and Eladio react and so on. Extinguish the knee jerks, puleeeeez!
Now I know that the suspense from TNs is built around the unknown and the misunderstandings and the unrequited love, but PyP seems to have quite its fair share. I will, of course, dutifully sit at my seat on the patio for the conclusion. Onward team GL!

Nina is clearly the biggest roadblock to Arturo getting involved with his children. Notice how she enabled Erick's escape to PV and Daniela's blowing off her appointments to the shrink.
About Daniela's eyes, I think they look OK in a full-face view but creepy in 3/4. There they look like they might fall out.

Thank you cyndarella good recap. See this Is why I do not like artty, hes a pompus ass. Who brags about messin in somebody elses life. And he don't even care about the lives he's wrecked, his children included. I will he really really surprised if he ends up with julia. Cause right now, I don't sre it. Nandicta, yes, what a great thought that Consuelo should threaten to take back Er's alibi. That should make him back off real quick. She needs to think and then act it out. Otherwise, her already low self esteem is gonna get lower. I guess I am not that smart either cuz I hadnt thought of tgat either, but I think it is a sure fire solution.

Arturo, Miguel, Erick, Regina & Daniela are all adults. They are not children where Nina keeps them away from Arturo (like Erick is doing with Connie/Erick Jr). He can pick up the phone and say. Hey kid, let's hang out, let's spend time together. We have not seen one time Arturo just wanting to spend time with Dani or Erick "just cuz."
Nina is not to blame for Arturo's poor relationship with his children, Arturo is.
