Sueno de amor, #14 - 03/28/16 P.E. Teacher needed - Requirements: good looking guy, with great body, killer smile and very complicated family life

Happy belated Easter to those who celebrated this weekend. I hope you all rested, filled your tummies and got ready for a new week of Sueno de amor (and other regular activities, you know).

This felt like a filler episode, so I kind of rambled a lot. Looking forward to your ramblings in the comment section.
We pick up right from where we left off, with Ernesto and Ricardo’s piss contest fight about who is the better man.
Ernie pretends that he has no clue about the guy who was following Ric ; so what if he was his employee, he doesn’t care what his personnel does outside of office hours. And he won’t take this interrogatory anymore. What is Ric, a cop? No, he’s just a mere teacher, Ernie adds with contempt.
Well, Esperanza is just a teacher, too, and you still fell in love with her, Ric counter-attacks. Ernie proudly agrees and not only that, but he and Espe also share a child. Yeah, one that he abandoned, Ric points out. Things degenerate and a fight is about to erupt, but Super Spy is definitely the better fighter, managing to twist Ernie’s hand and kneel him at the same time. As he walks out, Ric adds that he won’t leave Esperanza’s side anymore and he’s definitely not afraid of Ernie (who's screaming for security at the point).

Patoluca are still post bliss (not that kind of bliss, thankfully). She’s in awe over his amazing-ness (what else is new?). He always finds ways to scare her to death provoke her, she didn’t even have the time to prepare (did she by any chance wet her pants during the jump? I know I would have). Luca assures her that they were safe the whole time and, besides, he would never hurt her.
This last statement gives Pato the sads: yeah, maybe he would never hurt her intentionally, but she can’t forget the fact that he’s about to go away for a long time (if only he could go faster). He reassures her that they will be OK – he loves her and yada yada yada ... smooches smooches smooches….

Pedro and Kristel are still on the bench in the park. He feels better after his faint spell, but he will call his doctor to tell him what happened. Back to Kristel now – why hasn’t she been sleeping?
Well, because she feels confused, she doesn’t like it that she’s fighting with her family. Her mom and grandma haven’t said a word to one another in years, what if that happens to her and Silvana, too? (she should be that lucky). Pedro, the supportive friend, promises that he will help her solve the problems of the entire world if necessary (oh, you poor, poor fool!)
Later on, Kristel tells Pedro that she hates the way her mother treats her father and manipulates him. Pedro hugs Kris, just in time for Salma to spot them and film the whole thing for Silvana (if CrazyEyes doesn’t like Erasmo, she’ll probably have a seizure when she sees her eldest with her nemesis’ eldest).
Back with the friend and the one who only pretends to be a friend, Pedro encourages Kristel by saying that all these difficulties will make her stronger. Te quiero mucho, Kris says and me thinks that the girl is much closer to her friend than to her boyfriend right now. We have yet to see Kristel have an actual emotional talk with Erasmo, but this is all she does with Pedro ( like all day, every day they are together). I know that in real life being friend zoned is the kiss of death for most wannabe boyfriends, but do we know for sure that Kristel and Erasmo are end game?

Erasmo is weeping, remembering Kiko’s accident. The boy was working with him, they were building something together. He knew that he shouldn’t have allowed Kiko to help because construction work is dangerous, he will never forgive himself for allowing that wall to fall
on his brother. No worries, Kiko and Estrella understand, they’re not upset with him. Besides, Kiko is a Gallo valiente and his medical condition has a cure. The doctor confirms that an operation will help Kiko walk again, provided that he does the recovery, which will be very hard and long. Everyone, Esperanza included, will be there to help Kiko get well. And with Barbara Santillana helping to pay for the whole thing, Kiko will be able to show his artistic talents in no time (may the virgin de la paz protect us all when that happens.)

Silvana tells Mustache Man aka Felix, Inspector Busy Body, that Espe and Ric have a relationship, which is forbidden according to school bylaws. Felix asks for proof, Silvana asks for help to obtain said proof.

Kracy is trying to dig out information from her daughter, Selina, about her new teacher. Selina likes Espe, she is nice and pretty. Witchy Kracy doesn’t like what she hears, so she starts pulling at her daughter’s pigtails, that had been very nicely combed by her dad. I know that we complain a lot about Selina crying all the time, but can we blame her with a mother like this?
As Kracy keeps screaming at her daughter, Ric shows up and puts a stop to the abuse, by taking Selena into his arms.
He swears that  he will never leave Kracy with the kids, not when she treats them like this. Kracy blames it all on Ric, but he is pretty sure that their family needs protection even from her.

Later on Ric receives Tiana’s visit. La Sombra managed to steal something again, fooling the cops that were on his tracks. Ric is upset because his nemesis ran away, he thought Tiana would be more professional than to let him get away (like Ric has been doing for how many years now?). The guy left his signature flower behind him, a black orchid, which enrages Ric even more; they’ve got to catch this guy before he finds his family.
Side note: From the way Ric talks about La Sombra I would have expected him to be a murderer of some sort, but the guy is only an art thief? What is he going to do if Ric doesn't find him, steal some more paintings?

It’s nigh time and Viviana is back from a day of shopping. She asks the maid for the tablet that controls the house devices (whatever that is called) and for a diuretic water. Then she finds out that Adrian is not home, yet, and Luca is in the garden with Pato. Yuck! Is Viviana’s reaction, as she goes to the balcony to spy on the lovebirds.
The SuperSweet SuperNauseating couple is kissing and minding their own business when Vivi presses some buttons on the tablet, turning on the garden sprinklers. Because they are sickly cute, instead of running inside to get away from the wet water, PatoLuca start dancing and running and kissing some more.
Vivi is almost losing her probably non existent lunch watching them, when  Ernesto shows up and scolds her for messing with the kids, alluding to her growing old in the process.
Alone in his office, Ernie breaks a glass with his bare hands; he’s furious, he’s got to do something about Ric’s interference in Espe’s life. With Ric dead, there would be no more problems.
Back at Ric and Tiana, he thinks that Ernie is just a minor problem. (Oh Ric, what a Super Spy you are!)
They need to find La Sombra, that is their top priority!

Esperanza is in bed with the kids. Pedro is already asleep, tired from the job and school, but Pato is rested enough to whine about Luca leaving her. Espe talked to Luca, she thinks that he is a good guy. Pato is afraid that she will lose Luca the same way her mom lost Ric. Espe doesn't even blink an eye when she hears that her 17 year-old did bungee-jumping. QTH!!!

The next day, Ric arrives to school on time, so Felix can’t reprimand him. Espe shows up, too, and we find out that Felix has a crush on her. He sighs as she walks by, just in time for Silvana to see him. Since sighing is a sure sign of secret love, CrazyEyes starts to suspect Felix’ feelings, but he quickly changes the subject, by picking on Salma and her friend – their uniforms are not respecting school standards, the skirts are too short etc etc…
Silvana scolds her daughter, until Salma takes out her phone and shows her the video of Kristel hugging Pedro. Will this win her a pardon?

In his classroom, Ric finds a black orchid on his desk.
La Sombra is in the school”, he murmurs, as Esperanza is walking in and hears him. To her inquiries, he very quickly makes up a story about an ex colleague of his who sends flowers as a joke whenever he succeeds in something important. And he calls himself La Sombra because he thinks he’s a superhero. Espe doesn’t buy this, she thinks he’s still a bad liar, after all these years (I would say that he’s a good liar, considering how fast he came up with this little lie and the big one that he's been keeping for over 20 years).
They change the subject to Espe telling him about a job opening at her other school. I thought she wanted to stay away from this guy who she already sees half a day and so did Ric, because he asks if she would be OK with them sharing two jobs. Sure, no biggie, Espe assures, as Kracy spies them from the door. When she finally makes her presence known, she is wearing the school uniform. Yeah, she’ll be working here, too, they need the money.
With Espe gone, Ric is very upset because Kracy did this – has she forgotten that he’s here undercover, as a super secret spy? Kracy just observes the fact that not only he’s treating her badly, but he’s doing the same with his so called love, Esperanza, by lying to her (good point!). Selena shows up and doesn’t look too happy to find out that mommy works at her school.

Salma, who has seen a video of Estrella and Adrian kissing, is asking a favor from Espe, but the teacher won’t buy her so called love, which is only a whim. She starts the class and it’s Don Quixote’s day. As Espe reads from the book, Felix watches on from behind the door window, sighing (because, you know, he’s in love). He finally walks in and asks to talk to Esperanza. As the two leave, Salma films them.
Felix asks if it's true: are Espe and Ric an item?
But of course not, Espe denies, the directora is only trying to discredit her, but Felix is smart enough not to let some rumor influence him, right?

In class, Pedro is congratulated by his teacher for his hard work. Kristel is proud of him, too and with stars in his eyes, Pedro explains how much he enjoys architecture and urbanism and building schools for poor children. Kristel gets a text from Salma, who hopes that her sister will enjoy her revenge… Ugh, isn’t Salma only 14? Why are these two rivals or whatever it is that they are?

Silvana is scolding Mario like the spineless man that he is, about Kristel’s boyfriend. Mario slips out Erasmo’s name and Silvana almost has a heart attack – what is that, is Kristel going out with both Erasmo and Pedro? (LOL) From all the worthless guys in the world…
She orders Mario to fire Erasmo, or else she will always hate him…

Rodrigo is in class, too, and he has difficulties reading in English. Most of the other kids laugh at him, but there is one chubby boy who offers to help him pronounce the more difficult words. Rodrigo looks grateful.
Pamela brought the drawing that Ric asked for: a black shadowy figure, that appears to be wearing a long, black cape, taken from Voldemort’s closet. This is enough proof for Super Spy Ric to decide that Pamela is, indeed, La Sombra’s daughter. He calls Tiana to tell her that his nemesis left a flower in his classroom, so she needs to search the cameras.

Mario comes to Ernesto’s office to talk business, but he looks miserable. The secretary seems to brighten up when she sees him, maybe she has a crush on him (We will know for sure when she sighs the first time in his presence).
Ernie gets him to talk about his wife and the way she treats him. Mario knows that she is a pest but he loves her, he could not stand to lose her (is this guy for real?) Ernie asks what all of Viewerville is thinking: what about the kids, shouldn’t Mario step up for them?
Side note: Ernesto de la Colina is a strange villain; he has a very close bond with a child that he raised but doesn’t share his blood, he verbally abuses his biological son every chance he gets and he completely ignored his biological daughter up until a few weeks ago. He acts like a jerk with his wife and is sickly obsessed with an old flame but he sometimes shows moments of clarity and common sense that you would expect from others (like Esperanza telling Pato not to let Luca go, after they’ve been going out for a few weeks and she’s still in high school)

Esperanza and Ric stage a fight in the middle of the school, so that CrazyEyes can see them on camera. Felix shows Silvana the footage. He is very happy, thinking he has a chance with Espe, the directora is annoyed that she hasn’t gotten the proof that she needs against Esperanza.

Ric meets the three stooges, who are going about their usual buffoonery, that I won’t get into because I want to keep some of my sanity. One maybe important piece of information: Adan, the Charming one (so he thinks), is drawing a picture that is supposed to impress Begonia.
Espe and Ric talk in the street about how they fooled Silvana and the school cameras. Ric gets the job as a PE teacher at the poor school and meets Kiko, finding out his story.
Ric and Espe gaze at one another like a couple of teenagers, flashing back to their kiss the other day. Where is Salma and her phone when you need her?

Pato runs into the teacher who sabotaged her grades and promises to prove her what a great student she is. Ffw…

Ernie asks his secretary to find out if Pato has an US visa and then, like the twisted man that he is, swears that Esperanza will be his again.

Such an entertaining recap! Thanks, Adriana.

Hope we aren't going back to the hospital with Pedro. I hate that we are being set up for that eventuality. Ugh!

Ernesto was right on one thing: calling Mario "mandilón" "whipped" by his wife. Sorry, but Mario is just pathetic and tedious. Fire Erasmo, really?

Tracy was so mean to her own daughter. Maybe La Sombra can kidnap her and nobody pay her ransom (if she is not La Sombra).

Oh, no! A black orchid is La Sombra's calling card!!!!

Thanks! And happy belated Easter too, for everyone!

I also saw Pato very happy during the jumping thing and now seems to be blaming Luca for scaring her like that. Nobody was twisting her arm during the jump...

Silvana hating Mario is not the worst that could happen, considering the way she treats him already.

Paulo and the other bully address the other boy saying ''Holi, crayoli'' but the actual greeting is ''hola crayola'' from a crayon commercial.

What Adán was drawing was some sort of advertising for their business, but Espe and Ric made fun if him because they saw it didn't look like a torta, but more like other things. For me, these 3 guys are so not important for the story to get going that I pray virgen of the piss that Nacho go back to Begoña so they disappear for good.

I also noticed that Ric imaginary friend's name is Amelio, Ernie's secretary is Arleth and Salma's BFF is Ariana, what's up with all the names starting with an A?

Thank you Adriana.

"He (Ernasto) acts like a jerk with his wife and is sickly obsessed with an old flame but he sometimes shows moments of clarity and common sense" I'd say that is also applicable to Ricky cept the clarity and common sense part.

I must have missed it (couldn't focus on this silly show so baked a blueberry coffee cake) for I'm sure Tricky Ricky offered Esperanza an explanation last night why he never contacted her for 20 years. Wait, did Esperanza ask him?

Tofie, the blueberry coffee cake sounds great! Sorry, but I don't remember any explanation asked for or offered.

Tofie, there was no explanation given, they are just going around the subject the best way they can. And to think that Pedro already knows and is not telling his mother... Pleeaseee, as this could ever happen.
Good point on Ric and Ernesto being kind of like the same in many aspects.

Pablo, I admit I don't bother keeping track with the very secondary characters' names - they just take up time and they are a chore. Same for the stooges, I just ffw most of their antics.

Jarifa, I still don't get how Esperanza is allowing her ill son to work at night in a club, but her daughter has the time to date SuperLuca and have all kinds of amazing adventures with him (eye roll). Why isn't she working, too? She seems well enough and Pedro is really sick. Is diabetes supposed to cause so many troubles when a good treatment is followed?

Adriana Noel, this was fabulous.

In addition to the title, thoroughly enjoyed "(I would say that he’s a good liar, considering how fast he came up with this little lie and the big one that he's been keeping for over 20 years)" and "Adan, the Charming one (so he thinks)" in particular.

Loved your musings on “Ernesto de la Colina is a strange villain” – very well expressed.

“She orders Mario to fire Erasmo, or else she will always hate him”. Umm, isn’t that redundant?

Jarifa, I am alarmed and concerned for Pedro and highly suspect another medical crisis forthcoming. I think he's been through enough? And I agree Adriana, Pato seems to have more than sufficient time to pine over her "moondoggie". A little part time job seems fitting. Esperanza usually seems focused and on point but her allowing Pedro to work those hours is hard to fathom.

Silv's spew is getting increasingly difficult to watch. She really is terrorizing Mario (along with us). Ack.

Diana

Thank you, Adriana! Recap is better than the show was. I thought the episode was a little snoozy, but this is entertainment for sure.

Erasmo should feel bad about the accident. Building a wall without bracing and supporting it properly to keep it from falling over? Sloppy, Erasmo. I expected better of you. Although thank you for sparing us Kiko's dancing so far.

As to Ernesto's character traits, I tend to think that Osorio does in fact think clarity and common sense are villainous. The "good" characters embody dreamy impractical romanticism.

Luca seems kind of creepy to me. Setting Pato up with all these dramatic "dangerous" situations? It seems like manipulative behavior intended to spike her emotions and get her to bond to him prematurely. And it's working. The first thing with the crane might not have been his fault (OR WAS IT?!) but jumping off the roof and bungy jumping...he seems to have a theme. Get used to living on the edge of a cliff, Pato. How soon can he leave for Járvar? She needs a part time job.

I'm not buying that Rod's Spanish pronunciation would be so bad when he's been hearing his father speak Spanish his whole life. Even Kracy has become fluent already! But hey, Rod will be able to show up all the bullies in English class.

Julia you put your finger on Luca for me. He is creepy and trying way too hard to impress a high school girl. When I see him or hear their song I go to the fridge. I'd love to see Luca without a rich stepdaddy and see if he could feed himself. That's doubtful, more like soil himself if someone said boo.

Julia, I don't know if Luca is creepy, but his behaviour is totally inappropriat. Espe should try to put a stop to some of this love fest, I expected for her to at least show a little concern over the bungee -jumping.
But this couple seems to be destined for perfection, everything about them has to be so incredibly corny and over the top.
Ernesto 's good arguments being blamed on Osorio's twisted thinking - good point!

Diana, I hope Pedro will learn to live with his diabetes and have a normal life. Working in a club would be tiring for a healthy person, who's not also trying to be an architect (tough career ), Pedro has no place being there. We can see him get jealous with Kristel and Erasmo just fine by giving him a realistic life style. How about if Erasmo gets a second job as a bodyguard at the school instead of sick as a dog Pedro working in a antro.

This was just delightful! Thank you Adriana! Your asides are so witty and spot-on. I too can't wait for Luca the Creep to bug off to Járvar, already.

-- Jarifa: About the black orchid being La Sombra's calling card. As a kid, one of my favorite characters was "Arsène Lupin, Gentleman Cambrioleur" (Gentleman Burglar), a suave thief who used charm and cunning to rob the rich. He always left a rose at the scene of the robbery.

-- Pablo: Thanks for mentioning the "Holi, crayoli" greeting. Yet another indication that this show is sponsored by the Crayola people and writtent by people with the emotional maturity of a box of crayons.

Just a wee rectification, Salma's annoying friend is called Astrid.

-- Tofie: They are still dancing around the reason behind Ric's 20-year-long disappearing act. I really hope we won't have to wait until Últimas Semanas to find out. Blueberry coffee cake? Sounds yummy!

-- Diana: "Pato seems to have more than sufficient time to pine over her 'moondoggie'." So true! Someone give that girl a part-time job and a crate of self-esteem.

-- Julia: I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said, especially this: "I tend to think that Osorio does in fact think clarity and common sense are villainous. The "good" characters embody dreamy impractical romanticism." From now on, I'm embracing a WWODSICDTO approach to life! (What Would Osorio Do So I Can Do The Opposite).

I knew it was something with an ''A'' but didn't feel like verifying. Thanks! With this things, better fast forward than rewind!! As Cristina used to say, pa'trás, ni pa coger impulso!

You're absolutely right, Pablo! It's bad enough we have to resist the urge to fast-forward through two thirds of this show. And thanks for that Cristina quote; I really miss her post-finale shows with the cast and crew.

Adriana," How about if Erasmo gets a second job as a bodyguard at the school instead of sick as a dog Pedro working in a antro".

Yes.

I fear that something (else) bad is about to happen to Pedro. I hope it's not too catastrophic but Espe needs a wake up call.

Diana
