FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode #66/U.S. #69, Monday, 3/14/16

Part 1: The Yasaran are falling apart, running away, and turning on each other. Perihan has just turned in the evidence of Resat and Erdogan’s plot against Turaner. And Hacer has given a statement about how Munir and the Yasaran used and blackmailed Mustafa to do their dirty deeds, including falsely imprisoning him to make him confess to Vural’s murder. Resat and Munir are arrested, as Team Fatmagul looks on. Yay! But Erdogan is already on the run with his cousin Selim. Resat is ticked off at everyone in his family. He thinks his son is an idiot, blames his nephew for starting the whole mess and making things worse, and curses his wife and even his brother-in-law as traitors and ingrates. He wants a DIVORCE and doesn’t care that Perihan was the reason he became so successful in the first place, as Munir reminds him. Perihan would prefer her son and nephew be in jail, than free and in danger of being killed by Mustafa. But she doesn’t go as far as agreeing to testify against them in the rape trial, as Kadir requests.

As they ride in the police car, Resat and Munir bicker about who’s to blame and who should take the fall. They decide Munir is more useful to them on the outside, as the family lawyer, and it’s easier to claim he knew nothing of the honey trap, blackmail, and false imprisonment. He is set free, and Resat begins his pre-trial imprisonment in a dark, small cell with one other prisoner. They also decide that ONE person, not either of them, should be made the scapegoat for the whole thing (rape, blackmail, honey trap, etc.). When Munir goes to see Hilmiye (as the two ignore Perihan), it’s clear that Munir and Resat mean for that scapegoat to be Hilmiye’s son, Erdogan. She’s not a happy camper.

The Yasaran boys are also bickering and turning on each other during their road trip to freedom. Erdogan continuously calls weepy Selim an idiot and a coward. Selim blames Erdogan for the entire mess they’re in, starting with the rape that Erdogan instigated. He’s sure Erdogan did it out of envy for all Selim had at the time—favored son, beautiful fiancé, bright future. They learn of Resat and Munir’s arrest from tv news. Erdogan calls his booty call secretary for more info, and learns that the police are searching for him too for the Turaner affair. He decides to throw the police off their scent. Knowing that the police must be listening in and tracing all the calls to and from the family, he gets a cell phone, calls his mom, and pretends to be innocently traveling, having no idea what she’s talking about when she mentions the warrant out for him and the arrest of his uncles. Then, at a rest stop, he puts the cell phone on a large semi-truck, going in the opposite direction. The police eventually stop the truck, find the phone and realize the trick the boys played. They deduce they went in the opposite direction of the truck. The boys end up being put up in a light house by smugglers they’ve hired to get them out of the country. They are told they will leave by boat in two days. Their smuggler contact is a pretty, young girl.

Hacer has finally started telling the police and the D.A. everything, but either Munir made good on his threat, or the news has filtered to Germany, because her first husband, “Scarface”, is stalking her outside of the police station. She’s terrified, and Sami and Kadir both try to ease her fears and assure her he can’t do anything to her. She’s convinced that he would kill her or force her back to prostitution, out of revenge for how she badly scarred him when she escaped. Meltem overhears some of this, as she waits in the station to learn what Yasemin, the prostitute hired by Erdogan, testifies. Hacer is finally able to leave the station when Scarface disappears, but the danger hasn’t passed.
 

FATMAGUL, Monday Part 2:
Kerim, now secure that Fatma is being watched over by cute bodyguard Mirzat, leaves with Fahrettin to hunt for Mustafa. Fahr is an awesome tracker. The police give up at the cemetery when the trail gets cold, and Kerim is about to lose his cool demanding that they continue to look. Fahr holds Kerim back, coolly thanks the officers, and lets them drive off. Then he tells Mumtaz to drive through the cemetery REAL slow—slow enough for the homeless teens who helped Mustafa, to emerge from their hiding place. They corner the teens, then assure them they aren’t cops, put them at ease, and then loosen their tongues with some money. They spill the beans about Mustafa, the call he made to someone asking for help, and Bari, the old garbage picker who took Mustafa away in his trash cart. One of the teens drives with them to show them where Bari lives—a community of garbage pickers in what essentially looks like a small garbage dump (think, Avenida Brasil).

Kerim asks around for the old man, but the folks in the community are tight-lipped and claim they don’t know who Kerim is talking about. Meanwhile, Fahr’s eagle eyes have spotted the old healer lady emerging from her house to hang something on the line. She alerts Mustafa to the strangers (she thinks, cops), Mustafa sees them and begs to be hidden. She hides him away in a cubbyhole in a locked back room, then answers her door. She denies knowing the old man, vigorously. Kerim and Fahr spot the expensive car key and know they’ve found Mustafa. They pretend to give up, walk back to the car, and call the cops.

Unfortunately, Bari returns, with an interested buyer for the car—it will be chopped up and sold on the black market for its parts. The three of them drive off in search of the car, with Mustafa hiding in the back seat, before the cops surround the place and search the old woman’s cart and house. She pretends to know nothing about nothing, until the police find the bloody bandages. Then she claims that Mustafa held her hostage at gunpoint, and forced her to help him. She fesses up to nothing else. The cops take her away.

While Kerim and Fahr hunt for Mustafa, Omer and Kadir work to put Munir and Resat away, and Rahmi and Meryem work at the restaurant, Fatma continues to think in silence—or tries to. Unfortunately, she’s stuck at home with Mukaddes. Not understanding the need for solitude, silence, and contemplation, especially after a traumatic event, Mukaddess keeps poking and prodding Fatma to speak. All the while making all kinds of passive aggressive comments—like suggesting that the kidnapping has ruined Fatma’s relationship with Kerim all over again. Fatma insists they’re fine. Then Mukaddes insists on going through bridal magazines with Fatma (“Oh look, that dress is just like the one Kerim destroyed.”), pushing her to pick a design and begin making her dress. Fatma looks at the magazines, with all the happy brides, and starts to bawl uncontrollably. Mukaddes panics, calls Meryem, and insists it wasn’t her fault. Meryem calls the therapist, who comes for a house visit, then she closes up at the restaurant early, and brings the work home to finish up the orders with Fatmagul’s help.

 

FATMAGUL, Monday, Part 3:
After the therapist arrives, Fatma is calmer, but she still doesn’t feel like speaking—it’s too hard right now. She’s not yet able to order her thoughts about what happened and articulate them. And she also doesn’t feel like doing anything. The therapist says this is natural, after experiencing another violent episode, and doesn’t push her. Fatma begins to open up about what Mustafa said to her, about what would most hurt Kerim.
Fatma: He wanted to torture me in the same way (as the rapists), just to hurt Kerim. He told me that I had married one of them. I told him that Kerim isn’t one of them. And he yelled at me that he was.
Therapist: And do you agree with him?
Fatma: No. But his torture made me remember everything. Everything that happened that night.
Therapist: Have you told Kerim what you feel?
Fatma: No.
Therapist: Has this incident affected your relationship with Kerim?
F: I don’t know. But I want to keep moving forward with Kerim, and I don’t care how. I want to keep advancing; I don’t want to go backwards.
Fatma ends the session when the therapist asks if the Mustafa incident has indeed caused her to move backwards.

The hot cars buyer, who has a police radio, gets freaked out by all the police after Mustafa. He decides the car isn’t worth the risk, and dumps half-conscience Mustafa by the side of the road in a wooded area. He and old Bari drive off. Mustafa goes into his inner mind, and pictures Fatma lovingly taking his hand on a bridge. Kerim calls Fatma and gives her the news of Mustafa’s second close escape. She just wants Kerim to come home, and stop putting himself in danger searching for armed and dangerous Mustafa.

Throughout the episode, when he’s not Mustafa hunting, Kerim tries to break through the silence of Fatma by assuring her all will be well, and that soon all her enemies will be behind bars. They discuss the pity they both feel for Hacer, who is terrified of her ex-husband. They both acknowledge her life has not been easy. Kerim worries that Fatma’s silence is because Mustafa hurt her in a way she has not admitted to him or the therapist. She assures him this is not the case, and she doesn’t want to talk about the kidnapping. Not even with him. “I’m still scared. I’m scared for you. I’m scared for my family. I won’t be at peace until they capture him.” Kerim gives her a big, reassuring hug, that not even Mukaddes hovering and commenting can break.

Their wish finally comes true when the phone rings in the middle of the night. We see an ambulance rushing down a road, surrounded by woods on either side. Inside, Mustafa is being attended, but his mind is elsewhere. He happily imagines Fatma by his side, angelic in her white wedding dress and veil, holding his hand and telling him all will be well—“Get better for me, Mustafa. I love you. I’m waiting for you. I’ll always wait.” Kerim speaks to someone, likely the police, on the phone. He looks joyful, and disbelieving at the same time, as he tells Fatma, “They caught Mustafa!”

Your quote "Not understanding the need for solitude, silence, and contemplation" made me laugh out so loud. This perfectly describes the moment...except for Muka doesn't care. She's always so intrusive. And to purposely make the dress comparison. If only she could be trampled on as easy as she tramples over others.

Great epi. Glad that the rats that scattered are starting to get caught. 2 down and 3 to go.

Nett- Seriously though. Mukaddes is THE worst person in the world to leave a traumatized person alone with. Good grief! I did laugh when both Fatma and Elif were bawling, and she had no idea which one to attend to first.
 

EVA LA TRAILERA – LUNES – Parte 1 de 2

We resume where we left off on Friday. A smiling Adriana gives Pablo her mother’s cell phone. We see Pablo beside himself while JJ tries to get a charge on the battery. Pablo listens when there’s a 5% charge. There aren’t any text messages but he listens to the voice messages with a look of wonder on his face.

Soraya continues to tell her sad tale of being sold to traffickers and then locked up. Bobby insists they’re just trying to justify abandoning him. He’s back to being the rotten kid he was before. Soraya tells him they have a video from the guy who stole him from her. He refuses to believe them. Pancho loses his temper. He tells him to leave and to go tell his “dear parents” that he, Pancho, is not only going to sue them from fraud but have them accused of buying a stolen child. He calls him muchacho necio (foolish and/or stupid boy).

Marisol has brought Betty home from the hospital. For her troubles, Betty rags on her some more for not lying to a judge. She tells her she’s never telling Pablo about the baby. She says she hates him and will not rest until she brings him down into the mud where she is.

Eva comforts Soraya in the visiting room at the prison. She tells her to remember that la sangre llama and sooner or later Bobby will come back to them and want to see the video.

Eva is called to the warden’s office. She confirms that Changa was the one who attacked her, but Emilia moved between them to protect her. Changa spits out some invective about getting revenge, but the warden says Changa’s on her way to a Super Max.

Soraya and Pancho’s chauffeur is trying to get into Noemi’s pants. He tells her some gossip – that the Monteverdes could end up in jail. Of course, Marlacula is lurking behind a hedge and hears all this. [That was the whole point of the chauffeur-Noemi scene in the first place.]

Pablo plays the two cell phone messages from Sofía to the judge. The first one doesn’t convince him, but he hears Sofía say that she’s desperate, afraid that “they” will kill her like they did her mother. And that the one she fears is Marlene Palacios, who sent her brother and his friend after her. The judge: Estimado Contreras, prepárase para su primer juicio. Yes!!

Pablo asks the judge about bail. The judge is aghast. He says there’s never bail for murder. But Pablo comes up with two legal precedents. The judge says he agrees that Eva should await trial while on bail, but it will cost $500,000!

Martín brings the good news to Federica. He can prove that her daughter-in-law had a lover before her husband died. And that that lover was the one who accused Federica.

Bobby tells Adriana about his meeting with the Mogollones, calling his mother naca. Adriana: “Well, so what was in the video?” Bobby, looking sheepish, says he didn’t want to see a lie by the chorizeros. Adriana tells him he needs to see that video before making a decision about Soraya and Pancho.
 

EVA LA TRAILERA – LUNES – Parte 2 de 2

Pablo comes to Soraya telling him he needs $500K for bail for Eva. Soraya agrees immediately.

The black spider (Marlacula) shows up to tell the Monteverdes about the video that could put them in jail. She tells them it will cost them big bucks to get it.

Soraya interrupts a Panchopan board meeting with Pablo asking for the bail money. At first he resists, but Soraya convinces him and he signs a check.

Pablo gives the judge a copy of the check. After Pablo leaves the judge says the trial should be interesting. Sounds like he’s planning to preside again. [Would this happen?]

Pablo calls Berta with the goods news. Marlacula isn’t happy when she sees Berta overjoyed about something, and even less happy when she sees Adriana and Berta embracing with joy.

Andy shows up to discuss the “work” he’ll undertake stealing the video from the Mogollones.

Camila timidly asks if Martín or Pablo could help her get out of prison. Eva assures her they’ll help.

Eva tells her prison buddies the great news that she’s getting out.

After Robert agrees to pay Andy el Asqueroso in cash for his little B&E caper, AA grabs Cinthia around the waist. [Hmmm. Seems like something might have happened before with these two.]

Soraya tells Adriana that she’s pretty sure Eva will be out tomorrow. She offers for Eva to stay with her. [Right next door to Armanda and Marlene. Ooooh. I would stay elsewhere.]

We get another scene with Evencio yelling at Armando’s big Benz. Evencio tells him he’ll end up in the street someday, just like him. He accuses him of killing Sofía and Carmen.

Eva comforts Camila, saying she’ll help her get out of prison even though she herself is leaving.

JJ has a bit of a yen for Marisol, but believes she’ll never give him another chance after what he did recording her conversation with Betty.

Uh oh! The prison buddies tell Rebeca that Eva is getting out on bail. I hope Eva doesn’t get stabbed in her bunk.

Armando and Marlene are having dinner in the dining room while the three staff: Berta, Noemi and (can’t remember the other maid’s name) are grinning from ear to ear. Marlene blows up. She can’t stand to see them happy and tells them to leave.
Adriana tells Fabi her mother is coming home soon. Fabi starts up Mamá viene. Mamá viene, but Adriana hushes her up, telling her it’s a secret.

We see Andy sneak into the Mogollón house with a ski mask on. But we don’t see if he finds the video or not.

I can see Eva getting into all kinds of trouble while she is out on bail, if that even happens.

oh, I heard Robert say he knows this Arnulfo guy, so maybe it was more than just a casual baby exchange.

hmm, I see the judge wasn't going to reverse his decision, then let the reason (Eva's phone) go walking out the door.

 

I'm hoping nothing happens to Eva!
 

Eva. On the plus side, it's obvious that the judge likes Pablo. Maybe identifies with himself as a young lawyer? Pancho and Soraya are so smart, wouldn't they have a backup video somewhere? Also, the videographer and at least 1 or 2 other people were witnesses to Arnulfo's "testimony." I too think that Eva might be safer in prison than on the outside until her retrial is over. Eva's prison friends are sad to see her go--that's so sweet! She certainly seems to building a community there! I wonder if she'll become seriously involved in prison reform when she gets out.

Fatma: Thanks Vivi. Musta can only fantasize Fatma's love. A little aside, Beren was sick when they were filming 66 and 67 and therefore, her sickness worked in their favor as Fatma was going through some trauma and not doing much. Mukka in her own clumsy, clueless way meant to cheer Fatma up(while throwing some digs) but because she lacks basic human understanding went about it all wrong.

What I'd LIKE to happen probably won't. I'd LIKE to see Eva waving at Marlene and Armando from the front lawn of Soraya's house. And that they are completely gob smacked. What will probably happen is Rebeca calling Andy so they'll know in advance that she's getting out, if they don't try to harm her before she actually does leave. You know if everyone in a TN says something is a secret, it's not.
 

Eva. I think you're right novelera. That would explain Rebeca's smug smile, even after Eva's pharmacist friend bit her. (I believe that's the one ho did the biting, anyway).
 

FATMAGUL:

Thanks, Romy. Not hard to believe the actress was really sick as they were filming these scenes. But it fits right along with how traumatized she is from this whole kidnapping/gunfight ordeal. Did she get sick from being stuck in a freezing room in just her slip as they filmed the Mustafa scenes? :)

Yeah, Mukaddes wasn't even really trying to be mean. She just can't help it. It's her nature.

Mustafa's fantasies are worrying, because it means he still hasn't given up. (I hope whatever prison he heads to is secure.) He's just gone further into his delusions. It's like he is so incapable of accepting and admitting his own fault, that he throws up these delusions to protect his psyche.
 

Fatma: Vivi, lol, Beren could have gotten sick that way. But we had heard she had a case of exhaustion and was fighting a bad case of flu. Did you know that Turkish series are filmed for up to 16 hours a day? Beren shows up at 6am and leaves the set at around 2 or 3am on most days and they filmed for 6 days. As you know, the show airs for 2, 2 and half hours weekly. Her own husband said it in an interview. And most Turkish actors have been campaigning for shorter shooting schedules. But over there studios are more powerful and no unions. Beren and the likes are famous enough to demand special accommodations but she does not want to act different than her co-workers. Brutal.
Ojala, about Musta, let's say his shadow looms large.

Many thanks, novelera, for another excellent recap. I don't think that Pancho and Soraya had a backup video. In fact, they don't seem to have given even a normal amount of thought to security. Geez, if I lived in a very expensive house in a very expensive neighborhood, I'd surely have a security system. In fact, I do have a security system, even though I live in a moderately nice house in an exceedingly dull, middle-class neighborhood.

And yes, there sure looked as if this was not the first time Andy and Cinthia had met, and quite possibly had done a good deal more than just meet. Cinthia didn't look at all displeased at Andy's wandering hands. Blech! They deserve each other.

Rebeca's pleased sneer made me very uneasy. I wonder whether she's going to claim that Eva bit her. That would quite possibly put a major obstacle in Eva's hope of leaving the prison.

I wasn't sure if Andy actually found the video. It looked like he was holding an ancient VCR tape cassette in his hand at one point, but I thought he'd kept looking after than, having read "Gone with the Wind" or some such on the label. Anyway, if anyone was paying more attention than I was, chime in please about whether Andy got what he was searching for. I agree that Soraya and Pancho probably don't have duplicate copies of the video.
 

Eva. Novelera: I think Andy was still looking when the camera cut away and (I believe) it went to the brief preview of tonight's episode.

SpanProf, thanks! Fingers and toes crossed that Andy strikes out. Number one: I don't want anything to EVER go right for Andy and Number two: If Bobby ever takes his head out of his hindquarters, I want that video to BE there for him to view.

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 1 de 3

As usual, the episode begins where the last one left off, with Andy sneaking into the Mogollons' house to steal the video. I continue to be astonished that Pancho and Soraya have absolutely no security system in their house. Indeed, they don't even seem to have windows that lock. Andy looks as if he has no trouble opening the window and climbing through it.

While Andy is searching for the video, Pancho and Soraya are upstairs in the bedroom. Pancho is uncomfortable with how much money he has given Pablo. He thinks that the business with the Monteverdes may turn out to cost a lot, and though he may be a millionaire, he's not a multi-multi-millionaire (Está bien que uno sea millonario, pero no soy millonarísimo tampoco). Soon, though, he decides that what's really important is that Soraya is happy.

While Pancho and Soraya are talking upstairs, Andy searches for a while and eventually finds the video in a locked safe--oops, sorry, in an unlocked box. Klutz that he is, Andy does make some noise, and Pancho goes downstairs to investigate. However, Andy makes his getaway through the same convenient window without being seen. When Pancho comes downstairs, he encounters his security guard (is this the same guy who is also the videographer and chauffeur?). The security guard had also heard a noise but he found no one. (Apparently he didn't even bother going into Pancho's office. Had he done so, he'd have seen all the books and other things scattered about on the floor.) The security guard assures Pancho that he can go back to bed; the guy will keep watch and will let Pancho know if he finds anything.

Meanwhile, at Armando's, Fabi is drawing pictures of Eva, Adriana, and Fabi and keeps repeating "Mommy's coming, mommy's coming." Adriana comes into the room and tells Fabiola not to say this to other people, it's a secret just for Adri and Fabi. Armando then comes in to see Fabi, and asks about the "secret." Adriana tells him she and Fabi were playing a game, but now he's ruined it. He leaves.

Of course, now that the video has been stolen, Bobby comes to Pancho and asks to see it. Pancho agrees to show the video to him and goes into his office to get it. Apparently this is the first time he's been in the office since the burglary, because he is stunned to see all the books and other things lying about on the floor. He goes to the box that contained the video. Ooops. He then realizes that there really was a ladrón in the house last night. He tries to explain this to Bobby. Bobby's having none of it: "I don't believe you. I want nothing more to do with you." He storms out.

Marlene asks why Adriana, Fabi, and Bertha look so happy. Armando says he loves to see them happy. Marlene tells him she hopes she's wrong, but she thinks that the others have a very grave secret, and she doesn't like it at all. Armando accuses her of always trying to separate him from his daughters. [Anyone want to take bets on how long this sudden burst of intelligence on his part will last?]

Martin has an appointment to see the judge on behalf of Federica. As they're waiting, Marisol appears, slaps JJ [is anyone still keeping the Slap Count?], and calls him an imbecile. JJ says he's very good at what he does, and as a result of his good work, Eva is getting out on bail. Martin overhears him, pulls him away, and tells him he shouldn't have told this to Marisol. Now Betty will know.
 

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 2 de 3

And Betty isn't the only one who will know. Rebeca has called Andy to let him know that Eva is about to be released on bail. And no, there's nothing Rebeca can do, because there are too many people watching over Eva.

Eva, meanwhile, is assuring her jail friends that she won't forget them, and, indeed, "I will move heaven and earth to see that all of you get out."

I kept expecting that something would go wrong and Eva wouldn't be freed, but in the very next scene we see Adriana, Fabiola, Bertha, Soraya, and Pablo greeting Eva as she leaves the prison. Eva hugs Pablo in front of her daughters, and everyone seems very happy.

Bobby, however, is not happy. He angrily leaves Pancho and runs into Andy coming from the Monteverdes' house. "What are you doing at my house?" he asks. The two of them come to blows.

Robert and Cinthia are watching the video when they hear Bobby shouting. They rush outside to see Bobby and Andy fighting. Andy quickly leaves. Bobby asks Robert and Cinthia what Andy was doing in their house. "I was about to ask you the same thing," says Robert. He and Cinthia try to deny that Andy was in their house, but Bobby is adamant.

Eva, Adriana, Fabi, and Bertha are at Soraya's. Suddenly Pancho comes in, followed by two policemen. He brings them into his office. Eva wonders why the police are there.

Pancho explains to the police that the only thing taken was a video, but it was very important to him and Soraya. It contained someone confessing to a crime. "Do you have any idea who might have stolen it?" a policeman asks. "Well, obviously people who were involved in the crime," says Pancho, "but unfortunately I have no proof." The police also ask whether he had any security cameras. "Of course not," Pancho replies, "this is a telenovela." [Well, my Spanish isn't so good, so perhaps that's not quite what he said, but it's close enough.]

The police leave, and Pancho is distraught. "How could I have been such a fool?" he asks. "I didn't have a copy. Bobby will have nothing to do with us."

To be sure that Bobby will have nothing more to do with Pancho and Soraya, Robert burns the video. Cinthia thinks that perhaps the fire is a bit too strong, but Robert Who Knows Best assures her it's fine. The smoke alarm doesn't agree. It goes off. Bobby, who is in his room, hears the alarm and smells the odor. Robert tells him it's paper that's burning. No, says Bobby, it can't be paper. It doesn't smell like paper.

Pablo tells JJ the recording was very useful in reopening the case, but they now need to find witnesses and proof that Eva is innocent. He wants to start with the accountant at Mon-Sol. Martin also suggests talking to Evencio, even though he's a drunk.

Andy comes to Mon-Sol to tell Marlene that Eva is out of prison. She's aghast. How did you find out? From my contacts at the prison. They told me she's out. At that moment, Armando walks in. "Who's out?" he asks. "My aunt," says Marlene. "My aunt just got out of the hospital." Armando then turns to Andy, asks what he's doing there, and orders him to leave. Armando then leaves the office. Marlene and Andy agree that Eva's being free is very dangerous.

Soraya tells Eva about the video being stolen. "I know someone who can help you," says Eva. (You have three guesses who she recommends. Yup--right on the first guess.)

EVA LA TRAILERA - MARTES - Parte 3 de 3

There's a cute scene between Diego and Pablo. Pablo comes into the room wearing a suit jacket. Diego takes one look at him and chants "Papá tiene novia." How did you know? asks Pablo. Diego seems to have inherited the Investigator gene. He explains the evidence: "Aroma....contento....típico comportamiento de macho en época de apareamiento" (Odor, happiness, and typical behavior of the male in the mating season). He goes on to predict that Pablo will not return home that night. [Diego apparently no longer sees Eva as a competitor for his father's attention and love.]

There's also a lot of happiness at Armando's house, but neither he nor Marlene is sharing in it. Marlene orders Noemi and Celeste to leave, since she can't stand them standing there grinning. Armando asks why they are smiling. Adriana, who is also smiling, tells her father, "You'll find out. Though from the look on Marlene's face, she must already know." "I don't know what you're talking about," Marlene replies. Armando then whistles for Bertha (as one might summon a pet dog) and asks her why everyone is so happy. What's happened? he asks. With a big grin on her face, she says, "Be calm. Nothing has happened, but something may happen in the future" (Tranquilo. No pasa nada, pero puede que pase en el futuro.).

Pablo arrives at Soraya's with a bouquet of flowers for Eva. Soraya tells him Eva is with her daughters and is putting Fabi to bed. Soraya takes the opportunity to ask a "very big favor" of Pablo.

Bobby is at home, looking at the contents of the receptacle that Robert used to burn the DVD. Bobby finds something that looks very much like the burned cover of a DVD, sniffs it, and confirms that it's plastic, not paper. He remembers Adriana's doubts, and he says to himself that all this is indeed "muy raro."

Armando is becoming increasingly curious and frustrated, since everyone seems to know something that he doesn't. He remembers his earlier encounter with Fabi, where she says there's a secret but it's only for Fabi and Adri. "Papá no. Papá no sabe. He finally knocks on the locked door to the room where Adriana, Fabi, and Eva are enjoying each other's company. Eva hides and Adriana opens the door. He sits down with his daughters and he asks Fabi what it is that everyone knows but him. But Fabi just says what she did before. Adriana adds that they're just jugando a las muditas and he is again ruining their game. [I have no idea what "muditas" means in this context, but it's repeated several times.] He finally leaves. Fabi is very pleased with herself for saying nothing, and Eva and Adriana share her feeling. Finally, Adriana reminds Eva that she has to hurry up and change her clothes (for her meeting with Pablo), and even Fabiola joins in, echoing "Apúrale," except that she uses the familiar "Apúrate." Everyone is delighted [does the change Fabi makes suggest that she's not just mindlessly echoing what she hears?]. On that note, the episode ends.










 

Eva

Well, the recap is up, but there's a lot I wanted to include but finally didn't, in the interest of time. One thing I tried to include at the last minute was Adriana's telling Soraya that she would try to help bring Bobby closer to them again. I thought that was important (helping us see more of the New and Improved Adriana), but I couldn't figure out where to put it in. Also, I forgot to mention that Bobby pockets the burned piece of plastic.

I also enjoyed Martin's getting Evencio's name wrong: he first refers to him as Prudencio :-) )

Anyway, I'm outta here. In fact, I really AM going to be outta here. I'll be away starting tomorrow, and I'll be unable to do next Tuesday's recap. Indeed, I probably won't even be able to see the episodes. But at least I'll be able to see the recaps. ¡Ojalá!
 

Eva. Excellent recap, juanita, and we'll certainly miss them while you're away! I really enjoyed Bobby's punching Andy, and I see that Adriana's ordeal has turned her into a logical thinker. Wonder how long it will take Bobby to realize that the burned video is proof that what Soraya was telling him is true. Since this is Telenovelaland, who knows! With such little security, I also wonder how safe Eva will be at Soraya's and Pancho's--unless they realize how foolish they were and beef it up.

Muchas gracias, SpanProf, for your kind words. I too was delighted to see Bobby punching Andy, and to see Adriana questioning all the "muy raro" events surrounding the video, the fire, etc. Not to mention Bobby's parents' clearly false claim that Andy hadn't been in their house. Back in the days when I watched Univisión novelas, problems and misunderstandings often took months to be resolved. Telemundo seems to operate in a different universe, where most misunderstandings get resolved in a matter of days. Perhaps Univisión has changed in the last few years; I only know that I prefer the faster pacing on Telemundo. All of this is a long-winded explanation for why I think Bobby may realize the true significance of the burned DVD case sooner rather than later.

I'm just back myself and trying to catch up. Couldn't do it without everybody's fabulous contributions. I agree with SpanProf about the pacing of these revelations. When is Bobby going to remember the results of his blood test in science class? Probably not until the very last minute. But meanwhile he's demonstrated he's got brawn as well as brain.

I thought they were overplaying the smiles a bit, but a whole show of Marlene being upset was worth it.

Pablo keeps brushing off Evencio as a drunk, but he has already been a gold mine of facts, and I still hope Carmen's death is included.

and Marisol hasn't told Betty as yet, hmm, I wonder what she will do when she finds out, since she is no longer a prosecuting attorney.

I wonder what Eva's status is now that she is out, she lost custody of Fabiola, but what about the business?

LXV- I think the other day Bobby apologized to Adriana about their differences over the blood tests.

 

Eva. LXV: Well, Cintia has told Bobby (finally!) that he's adopted, but she told him that she and Robert had saved him from a lower-class prostitute and what would have been a terrible life. I believe she also said that Soraya had sold him voluntarily, out of greed.
 

FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode #67/U.S. #70, Tuesday, 3/15/16
A New Beginning- Part 1:
The news spreads throughout the house that Mustafa has been caught. Well, more like Mukaddes makes sure that every person and child in the house is woken up and informed by HER. Joy all around. The only person who doesn’t emerge is Fahrettin. He turned in early, and has not exited his room, even though Mukaddes and everyone is right in front of it yakking up a storm. Kerim opens the door, and finds his father’s bed…EMPTY!

Kerim calls Fahr, who of course is with the police as they wheel Mustafa into the hospital. Of course the Gray Mafia is behind the capture of Mustafa! Fahr tells Kerim what happened, and we go back in time 5 Hours Earlier…

Mumtaz has teamed up with a contact in the underworld of stolen cars. They’ve investigated a few of the stolen car shops in the Rima area, and based on tips they’ve gotten, have staked out one particular shop. They’ve also tipped off the cops. Fahr sneaks out of the house, after telling the family he’s going to bed, and meets up with Mumtaz and their contact to await the police bust of the stolen cars shop.

Meanwhile, in a bit of poetic justice, Mustafa lies bleeding out, in the freezing rain and sleet, just as he left Kerim many weeks ago. He manages to crawl closer to the road, but ends up hidden by brush.

The police bust the shop, just as the old garbage picker, Bari, and his stolen cars associate are trying to negotiate a price for Mustafa’s Mercedes, which they managed to find. Fahr comes in with the police, and demands that Bari and his associate tell them where the owner of the car is. They take them to the place they dumped Mustafa, and eventually Fahr finds him in the underbrush. Fahr tells Kerim that Mustafa is in grave condition and in surgery. Kerim passes the news to Fatma, who is affected by this news. Kerim tells Fatma he doesn’t want Mustafa to die, and he never has. He only wants him to face justice. Fatma says she knows, and agrees.

In Casa Yasaran, the news that Resat and Munir want to make Erdogan the scapegoat for everything has not gone over well with Hilmiye. She will NOT permit them to ruin her son! Perihan supports Hilmiye, but says she (Perihan) and ALL of them are at fault for the whole mess. No one person is to blame. Munir rolls his eyes. Then Perihan tells him she wants him to start her divorce proceedings. She doesn’t even want her name associated with Resat anymore. Munir refuses. If she divorces Resat, then she can be obligated to testify against him. He later tries to explain the same thing to Resat, who’s just as eager to divorce his traitorous wife.

Meanwhile, the Yasaran boys are getting a rundown of the plan for escaping the country from the girl who will smuggle them out. She says they likely won’t be able to leave in two days as thought, because the Coast Guard and police are crawling all over the place looking for them. They will need to lay low for some time and stay put in the light house. They are less than thrilled. She gives them a cell phone and tells them they can only use it to speak to her. No calls to anyone! She will call them.

Hacer and Sami’s sleep gets interrupted by the sound of broken glass. Hacer’s first husband has found them and launched rocks through the living room window. Hacer freaks. Sami tries to get her to stay calm, telling her that the baby can feel everything. He makes a plan for them to go to the police the next morning and file a report.
 

FATMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 2:
The next day the news is filled with the reports of Mustafa’s capture, and of the upcoming March 5th trial for Vural’s murder, for which both Kerim and Mustafa will now be defendants. Meryem and Fatma work on the restaurant orders from home, while Kerim and Mehmet deliver them to the restaurant and customers. Fatma is in better spirits, but she asks Kerim not to go off anywhere except the restaurant and the deliveries. She wants him close.

Munir visits Resat, who is already having a bit of cabin fever in prison. The two know that Hilmiye will for sure try to contact Erdogan, and when she does, they’ll pounce. Resat once again demands that Munir get him out of there, and soon. Otherwise, he’ll drag Munir down with him.

And they are right about Erdogan and Hilmiye. He (stupidly) uses the cell phone from smuggler girl and calls Muge, the secretary with benefits. He has her meet with his mother clandestinely (in the supermarket) and pass on the cell phone number, with a message to call him that night from a public phone. Meanwhile, at the office, Meltem is already suspicious that someone has been passing on business info to the Yasaran, and Muge becomes suspect #1 when Meltem spots a newspaper photo of Erdogan peeking out from her personal diary. She tells her mom, and the two inform the police, who begin to tap Muge’s calls.

Kerim has to wade through a sea of intrusive media as he leaves the hoses to make deliveries. They ask disgusting questions like did Mustafa rape Fatma, and is that why she’s had a breakdown and he shot Mustafa. Kerim has had it. “Enough! Why don't you respect people? What you're doing is harassment! You're being disrespectful of our problems. These are difficult moments for our family. Don't you realize your questions are insidious?... Oh, you know what's the real news? Those men will all be caught and Fatmagul will win the case. Please, leave.” Fatma watches and hears from her balcony, and smiles with pride at her husband’s ability to defend her.

At the hospital, Kadir is with Hacer and Sami, who have already filed their report with the police about her 1st psycho husband. Meanwhile they watch over her current delinquent husband, Mustafa, who has come out of his surgery successfully. Hacer is an emotional wreck and scared, so Kadir promises to find her a safe place to stay. He later puts her up in his law office, which also has space to sleep. Meryem at first is not pleased with this arrangement and that Kadir is putting himself on the line again, but eventually agrees it’s the right thing to do.

 

FATMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 3:
At home, Meryem, Fatma, and even Mukaddes, continue to cook. Meryem all of a sudden starts to giggle as she makes sarma (Turkish stuffed grape leaves). The other ladies want to know what’s up, but Mukaddes of course is the one who asks the intrusive questions. Especially after Meryem says she’s remembering her first night in the hotel with Kadir. Oh, yeah. Mukaddes definitely wants all the juicy details now, and Fatma’s all ears too. Mukaddes comes right out and asks blushing Meryem if it was her first time having sex and what did she feel. She prods by saying they should be able to have a woman-to-woman discussion every now and then. Fatma’s ears grow larger, as she tends to something over by the sink. Meryem opens up, and starts waxing poetic.

“I felt happy, of course. You meet someone who appears out of nowhere. You fall in love. And later you learn they share the same feelings. They transform into a part of your life. Your emotions, your feelings, and also your love-- you share everything that you feel. It's as if love has made you rich. As if you've lived many lives...That happiness of being with the one you love, is not just about sharing the same bed. It's sharing a dream. It's sharing happiness, tranquility, peace. That's what’s important.”

Fatma smiles dreamily, contemplating this explanation of loving, being loved, and making love. She practically jumps when Kerim walks in, and cluelessly asks if something happened. Fatma blushes about five different shades, while Mukaddes laughs. After dinner, Kerim asks Fatma if she’d like to go on a walk. She eagerly accepts. On their walk, Kerim takes her hand and tells her not to be afraid, because he’s here with her. Fatma smiles, and looks relaxed and happy for the first time since the whole Mustafa ordeal began.

Hilmiye calls Erdogan from a public phone booth. He’s taking the call while standing outside the lighthouse, as Selim looks on. He tells her about their plans to escape and tells her not to worry. She tells him about Munr and Resat’s plans to make him the scapegoat. Just then, Munir pops up and grabs the phone away from her. The two men start cursing each other. Munir wants Erdogan to come back and accept his role as fall guy. “I won't come back! If you want to sacrifice someone, sacrifice Selim!” Smuggler girl comes back, curses them out for stupidly using the phone and being outside. Then has to break up the fist fight that starts up between the cousins about who’s at fault, and who should take the fall. She whacks Erdogan upside the head to put an end to it. Then she reminds them that if they get caught, she gets caught. She takes the cell phone back and orders them inside.

Fatma and Kerim sit cuddled by the water. He tells her how worried he got when she would just stare into space, not talking, nor looking at anyone or anything. “It's like, not only were you forgetting my presence, but yourself as well.” Fatma says it’s not about him, but acknowledges that he’s right.
K: I don't want to be invisible to you.
F: You aren't.
K: Then talk to me. Remember the Doctora says that we should speak about that night. And that when we're with her, we shouldn't hold anything back. I want to do that, if you do too. But it scares me. It could distance us.
F: Even though we don't talk about it, neither you nor I have forgotten that night. But I'm no longer afraid. Nothing worse than that could happen to us. Now I know what I feel. I'm sure of what I feel for you. I want to have a family with you, Kerim. I know together we'll forget all that's happened.
K: That's exactly what I want too.
F: The 5th of March we'll overcome another obstacle. I only want to be happy...to have a tranquil life by your side. I don't ever want to lose hope. It's a new beginning. We’ll have a beautiful life together, I promise. We’ll have marvelous days ahead, Kerim.
K: I promise that I'll make you very happy.
They seal these pledges of love and happiness with a long and lovely kiss.

 

FATAMAGUL, Tuesday, Part 4:
March 5th finally arrives. It’s International Women’s Day, and also the final trial for the murder of Vural Namli. Everyone gathers in Izmir. Meanwhile, Selim and Erdogan get a new cell phone from their smuggler, and news that they will leave that night. A new life awaits them! Selim begs Erdogan to let him call Muge, and have her send a message to his mother. The police are listening in as Selim dictates the message for Perihan--He’s not mad at her. He understands why she did it. He leaves tonight, loves her, and he’ll be ok. The police get the coordinates! Perihan later receives the message, via a letter from Muge, and weeps.

While they wait to be called to testify, Fatma and Hacer hold hands. Hacer turns to Fatma, and begs her to care for her child, if anything happens to her. Fatma dismisses these fears, and Hacer’s shame over her past and Mustafa’s present. She tells Hacer, “Today a new life begins for all of us. You’ll be an excellent mother.” Hacer also asks Fatma if Mustafa hurt her during the kidnapping. Fatma again firmly says no. But the real question Hacer wants to ask, and finally does, is, “Did he tell you that he loves you?” Fatma skirts around the question and dismisses it. Hacer is called in to testify. We see her, Serdar, and Fatma testify. Throughout their testimony, Mustafa looks as if he can’t believe Hacer and Serdar are betraying him this way. When Fatma testifies, and relates how Mustafa bragged to her that he shot Kerim on purpose, he gets weepy and covers his ears to block out reality. Instead, he hears Fatma’s voice telling him she loves him and will never leave him.

Smuggler girl calls Selim and Erdogan and tells them there’s been a change of plans—they are leaving earlier than planned. They are leaving right now! Once on the boat, she tells Selim, whom she seems attracted to, that her name is Ayse. Their flirting is interrupted when they see the police have ringed the coast near the lighthouse, and the Coast Guard are on their tail. “We're finished!” They manage to outrun the Coast Guard long enough to switch to another boat and hide in the frozen cargo compartment. The CG catch up to the original boat, but by the time they do, Selim, Erdogan and Ayse are home-free in international waters. “We’re free!” Ayse looks a bit too happy, considering that she’s now also a fugitive, with two rapists.

In Izmir, the judges have reached their verdict. Kerim has been absolved of all guilt in the case of Vural’s murder. He’s a free man! Mustafa, however, has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Vural (10 years and 2 months); the attempted murder of Kerim (9 years); and the kidnapping of Fatmagul (3 years). A total of 22 years and 2 months. Fatma hugs Kerim tightly as they both celebrate.

Mustafa starts to cry, but when asked if he has anything to state to the court, he turns to Fatma and says: “I love Fatmagul so much. I have nothing else to say. She's the only one I want to offer apologies. Forgive me, Fatmagul.”

-End of episode.

Thanks a mil! SpanProf & deb about Bobby and the blood test. That's what you get for going away and missing episodes. Another reason to love this blog. I love seeing Marlene starting to lose her grip (on herself as well as on the circumstances she's trying to control). And I hope we don't have to see Pancho suffering too much longer.


 

FATMAGUL:

Oops! Typo. "he leaves the hoses to make deliveries", should be, he leaves the house...

Also, I kind of forgot to explain why Meryem was giggling over the sarma. Not that it's important. The day before their wedding/honeymoon, Kadir and Meryem (and the family) had worked all day in the restaurant, and Kadir had made thousands of sarma. He didn't want to see another one for a LONG time. But when they lifted the cover off of the tray of food the hotel had prepared them, there was a plate of sarma, which set them on a giggling fit.

So glad Kerim is finally free of the Vural murder accusations and that Mustafa is in jail. One more trial to go. But they can't really move forward with that until Selim and Erdogan are caught and brought back to Turkey.
 

Fatma: Thanks so much Vivi. I am enjoying this as if it's my first viewing due to your masterful recaps. Musta refused to face reality and covered his ears. He is not done that is all I can safely say. Lol, at Fatma turning beet red when Kerim entered because I bet she was picturing her and Kerim in bed, lol. Too cute. Why is Mukka so interest in other people's sex life? I mean you have your own sex life woman! Poor Rahmi maybe he can't handle Mukka. Frik and Frak better enjoy their adventures for now with dumb Ayse. You see how Fahr is making up for lost time? He is fearless about protecting Kerim and Fatma.

I'm so glad to hear that you think I'm doing this show you love so much justice. :)

Someone the other day suggested that perhaps Mukaddes needs to try out Hacer's old profession. Perhaps that would satiate her need to constantly hear about/talk about/have sex. But I think mostly she just likes to be in other people's business.

Yeah, Fatma was for sure imagining herself and Kerim as Meryem spoke. I really liked seeing that things are ok between them physically again. There was no hesitation with the hand-holding and the kiss. I thought the Mustafa ordeal might have set her back.

Romy- Sorry, forgot to specify I was addressing you above. Yes, Fahr (and his Gray Mafia) continue to impress me. Where would the police be without their help? I had to laugh when Kerim called him and they realized he was right there with Mustafa-- the whole reason the cops caught him in the first place.

LXV, I too was pleased to see that Bobby had brawn as well as brain. Indeed, in last night's episode, the brawn was more evident :-). I was a bit surprised that Bobby was more than able to hold his own against Andy. Somehow I assumed that a no-goodnik like Andy would be a better fighter.

deb, I loved your remark about Adriana connecting the dots for Bobby. I think that will help a lot in winning him back to the side of Beauty, Truth, and Goodness.

Since we're not yet close to the end of the novela, I'm wondering nervously what the next seeming disaster will be. I'd hate to see it involve one of the most vulnerable characters, such as Fabiola or Diego, both of whom seem to have made substantial progress thus far. But if not one of them, then who?
 

Eva. Well, there's always the old pregnant former girlfriend ploy, for Betty to put a spoke in Pablo's and Eva's romance, an "accident" happening to either don Javier (the accountant) and/or Evencio before they can testify, etc. I'm sure the writers will reach into the tn bag of clichés. :)

Juanita, thanks so much for the amazing recap! I know what you mean about thinking of some pearl of wisdom you might have included after you’ve already put the recap up. If we put everything that crosses our minds in them, we’d never get any sleep the night of our recapping commitment!

I loved “Robert Who Knows Best”. (Was this a pun on the old TV show “Father Knows Best”? I have to confess to being old enough to have seen that.)

Last night I also was thinking to myself: “I hope that Bobby, or Beto, and Adriana’s children inherit her brains.” Pocketing the burned disk gives us some hope. And, I agree, in hoping this is not a Univisión length secret about why Bobby was adopted.

Why is Marlene so intent on keeping the fact that Eva is out of prison from Armando? Surely she must know he’ll find out eventually. Is she hoping to somehow kill her before he even knows she’s free?

It was so disgusting watching Rebeca try to poison Eva’s prison friends against her, saying she’d forget them as soon as she walked out of there.

I think the writers, and the child actors, are doing a good job of portraying the kids’ disabilities. Diego has higher function, but he also lacks a filter when he speaks. He talks in a sort of odd way, meant to show autism of some kind. And, of course, the Fabiola actor is terrific.
 

Fatma: Vivi, you are doing padrisimo or in Turkish "harika" I love this show so yes, I am very happy. Thank you so much. Yes, definitely Muka is nosy. I will say this she seems to push Fatma and Kerim together when they are not getting along but as soon as they seem happy she wants to put a wedge between them. I hope no one in this world is living with a Muka, oy.

Eva. I have a highly functioning autistic student (probably more accurately someone with aspberger's) in one of my classes, and I must say that in many respects she is similar to Diego--very intelligent, but lacking a bit of a filter. However, in a Spanish class that can be a good thing--if there's a lull in the class all I have to do is look in her direction and she says something in very fluent and enthusiastic Spanish.

Wow, novelera, thanks so much for your wonderfully encouraging words about the recap.

I too am old enough to have seen "Father Knows Best," and I suspect that that was floating around in my head.

Marlene's motivation for keeping the news of Eva's release from Armando is a mystery to me, too. I bet you're right about her hoping to do away with Eva before Armando even knows she's free. But I'm not sure how she'll manage that. Surely by now she must have some serious doubts about Andy's reliability as an assassination arranger (another meaning for AA?). It took two tries to do in Carmen, and the attempt on Eva's life inside the prison was un fracaso.

Like you, I've been very impressed with the child actors who play Diego and Fabiola, and impressed too with with the way the parts are written. As you've noted, the degrees of autism are clearly differentiated, and in very believable ways. I've also been impressed with the love for these characters shown not only by Pablo for Diego and Eva for Fabiola, but also by characters such as Martin, Bertha, and Adriana. In last night's episode, both Diego and Fabiola seem to have made real progress, and I think the love/affection/caring both children have been experiencing is at least partly responsible.

Many thanks, SpanProf, for reminding me of those all-too-likely potential disasters. I almost stopped worrying about Betty once she said she wouldn't tell Pablo and wanted nothing more to do with him. Which of course means I've been lulled into a false sense of tranquility--the perfect time for evil to strike. To be honest, though, even if Betty does try to cause trouble, I don't think that she will be pregnant or a mother by the time the novela ends. The doctor's referring to Betty's "high-risk pregnancy" is another pretty reliable tn cliché. Once the words are said....

OK, my money is now on Javier as Marlene's next victim.

Another good epi and another good recap Vivi.

So one of the rats has been captured. Glad that MEstafa is off the street because he is as crazy as a loon...totally gone. Now ...maybe F&K can have peace of mind. I must say MEstafa is scrappy. I actually thought he was going to die at the hands of the old lady and her unsterilized wound care. Would have served him right to agonize in pain before he goes....oh well...he's still around to hallucinate.

Papa bear is no joke. He has been relentless in his pursuit of MEstafa. If only he had been around for Kerim when he was growing up...his tenacity would have kept his son away from the entitled and spoiled Yassarans and K wouldn't be in this mess now....oh well. Papa bear is making up for lost time...I give me an A for effort and results.

Who is the young lady helping the boys escape. I like her....especially since she hit Erdo upside the head with that rock :>) I don't think I understood how they hooked up with her but she's certainly not intimidated. Glad that F&K had a chance to spend some quality time together away from prying eyes and Muka's indecent remarks. Like I said before...Muka's frustrated and apparently feels the need to know about everyone else's love life. Nice that Fatma was declaring the plans for the future....historically it was Kerim making the commitments. They continue to make strides.

Asu can't seem to catch a break. He rat of a husband is in prison for various crimes and now her ex-slaver comes back in her life....as if she hasn't been tortured enough. But I don't know what to think of her asking Fatma to take care of her child if something happens to her. That was interesting. Wonder how Kerim would handle this if it were to occur.

Nett- Yeah, I would have loved Ayse to smack Erdogan with that rock again. I think she smacked him and not Selim because she's sweet on Selim. Not smart. But I guess she's used to being around lowlifes as a smuggler. Now she's stuck with those jerks.

It was nice to see Fatma being the one making the plans for their future. Like you said, it's usually Kerim. But Fatma even said she now knows what she wants. More and more she has been thinking about forming a family with Kerim. Their emotional and physical intimacy has really grown.

Juanita, I've had the same feeling about Betty's pregnancy. She's SO hateful, I just can't see she and Pablo co-parenting a child. It actually reminds me of Bajo el Mismo Cielo when Felicia went to a fertility doctor. Didn't Betty do the same thing? And they both schemed to get pregnant to trap the guy into marrying them.

Felicia didn't carry her baby to term, so I suspect Betty won't either. Unless she gets run over by a bus and Pablo and Eva get to raise it. Maybe it could be a little boy. Eva only has girls.

Yes, novelera, I too am remembering the similar situation in Bajo. And yes, both Felicia and Betty went to a fertility doctor (perhaps TOFDILA?).

Am I right in thinking that it's the male who determines the sex of the child? If so, it doesn't matter that Eva has so far had only girls, since with any luck a future pregnancy would be with Pablo, not Armando. I remember learning quite some time ago that it's the male who determines the sex, but so much that I learned has changed (and so much more has been forgotten :-) ).

part 1

Eva and Pablo meet for dinner with Pancho and Soraya, and kiss, and decide to go out instead, and get a room for the night, these two are so cute together, and afterwards they both express their love and Eva's doubts, Pablo suggest they join their lives together, you mean, yes, Pablo proposes, but they decide to wait till after the trial to talk further on this.

Bobby takes the melted plastic to Adriana, she asks if it could be Pancho's video?

Betty is cleaning out her office, Marisol asks if she wants help, haven't you helped enough, and as Betty laments how things turned out with Pablo, at least he won't have Eva either, for 25 years, ah, maybe not Marisol spills, Eva's out, and Betty's world crashes.

Pablo and Eva get back the next morning and kiss, as Armando and Marlene are off to work, Armando is on fire, he comes at Eva, but Pablo nails him good, and the fight is on, Esteban (the chauffeur) gets Pancho, who breaks them up. I love being around Soraya, she says the neatest things, like calling Marlene the tramp from hell.

Armando and Marlene go back home, and get into it, Armando says it's all her fault, and Marlene throws out it's not just Pablo she has always been cheating on you, Marlene can't handle that he still loves Eva.

Armando goes to a girly bar, drinks are on him, but where are the girls, there aren't any before noon, but if you have money, bring 'em on, he says.

Pancho gets Pablo calmed down and on track for the important stuff, like the missing video,

Pancho mulls over the stolen video with Esteban, and he remembers telling Armando's maid, but she denies telling anyone,

Marlene heads over to Andy's, he sees jealousy in Marlene, do you really love that hick, she says she's never felt this way before.

but what do we do with Eva, we can't try to kill her again, the suspicion will be on us, what to do, Bing!, ah the daughters are her weakness..

and somewhere in there Andy tells Marlene the trucks will be back today, and Marlene promises him a good job at Mon-Sol, Armando will be happy with him because he saved the company.

Marlene makes it to Mon-Sol, Armando here? nope, but she has a visitor, it's Betty, Marlene asks for a solution, legally we can do nothing, Pablo is just too good, anything?

Adriana and Bobby bring the melted plastic to Martin, JJ grabs it and holds up a dvd case next to it, duh!, so maybe it was Pancho's video, duh again, JJ adds, it still should be in the camera's memory.

Pablo has been sneaking around Mon-Sol, he grabs Enrique (the guy he used to work with) after work and they go for a drink, Pablo describes his present state, it's like he is playing russian roulette, one wrong move and he could lose everything forever, he asks about Evencio, Enrique will help find him.

Robert meets with his lawyer ??? he says there is no getting around Pancho's lawsuit, the only choice you have is to get him to drop it.

 

Eva la trailera... epi 36, wednesday
part 2

Adriana drags Bobby to Soraya's and gives them the news about the camera, which they hook to the tv so they all can watch, Eva and Esteban are there but Pancho is at work, wait for me, I want to see Bobby's face when he watches it, and Bobby is all coiled up with the wait but Pancho arrives, and the movie is on (I can't say I'm in a hurry to see this man die again) anyway, he talks about selling the baby for money, and selling Soraya to traffickers of women, they were professionals and knew how to exploit her he adds, pretty heavy stuff and Bobby cracks, calls them liars and rushes out of the house, Adriana follows, she knows he's in shock, but he wants to be alone, and even brushes off Cinthia, but she wants to help, what can I do, "can you tell me how I was adopted without lying", Bobby asks her. (maybe some of Martin's logic got through, as Bobby was calling Pancho and Soraya liars, Martin reminded him that the Monteverde's also lied to him, and who lied to him first?)

Marlene and Betty are still looking for a solution, is there someway we can at least keep them apart, well... Betty spills about her baby, and the fire comes back into Marlene's eyes...

 

FATMAGUL

Great recaps Vivi and great comments Romy and Nett. I read every day but I can't comment much because of my brutal work schedule.

I love that Fatma has been the more affectionate one of late. I think the getaway to the countryhouse for that weekend really helped, especially in Fatma's case. Kerim's hospital stay confirmed it as she was heartbroken when he got shot. It's as if once she had Kerim to herself it made her relax around him. Them always being "en familia" helped stabilize them after transitioning from Izmir to Istanbul but hindered them from interacting as a couple, especially with Mukaddes arouns, which set their intimacy back. Now, they are on their way.

I don't think this is a new Fatma, we saw that when she was engaged to Mustafa she was also very devoted towards him-she always made sure she showed up when he came back or left for fishing trips, she cooked for him, was girly and giggly around him. Her newfound outward affection for Kerim shows the continuation of her committed, loving nature. The old parts of her personality, her ability to love and trust, are coming back which is a good thing.

J- So glad to see you here during the week. Thanks for the great comment. Indeed, before the rape, Fatma was playful and affectionate with Mustafa. What we are seeing is her regaining some of her old self as she builds trust and emotional and physical intimacy with Kerim.
 

EVA
Fabulous deb, thank you. I'm still playing catch-up, plot-wise. That was great. Would it be asking too much for these guys to burn a few copies of that video file before "something happens" to the camera. Maybe put one in a safe deposit box off-site? Or is that too much real-life logic for a telenovela.

Wow, you can't get much more toxic than the Betty-Marlene alliance. We've entered the next circle of hell with these two.

And what, exactly, is Pancho suing Robert's company for? Malfeasance of some sort, graft?, falsification? I must have missed that. And did Bobby ever actually sign things he didn't read, either out of ignorance or anger?

I love the Fabiola character; her astute other-wordly intuition is going to play a part in this, I'm sure. It reminds me a little of the girl in Los Miz who lost her speech due to trauma, but when it came back, she was able to spill the beans. Either that, or she'll blab something inappropriately to move the plot along. In any event, I enjoy the "wild card" aspect of her role.

 

FATMAGUL: Turkish Episode #68/U.S. #71, Wednesday, 3/16/16
Part 1: The tv news details the result of the trial, and shows Team Fatma, with Mirzat, leaving the Izmir court. The reports also show Hacer and point out how she testified against her own husband. Mukaddes is riveted to the tv, and then runs downstairs to dig for the gossip from the family as they return from Izmir. They haven’t even crossed the threshold before she starts badgering them. Mirzat says his final farewell to the family and Fatma, and says he hopes to hear good news about her case. (Farewell, Mirzat! Sorry to see your cute self go, but happy Fatma doesn’t need you anymore.) Mukaddes pushes Fatma to tell her if Mustafa said anything to her. She refuses to answer and leaves the room.

Kadir’s left wrist/arm is hurting badly, but he tries to play it off. Meryem makes up one of her remedies and wraps his arm for him. She insists on taking him to the doctor.

Mustafa starts his prison sentence. He sits on his bed in silence, staring into space, thinking of Fatma, and where it all went wrong. He remembers when he first made his deal with the Devil and accepted a suitcase of cash from Resat. The other prisoners try to get him to converse, and think he seems a bit crazy. But for the most part, they respect him because he’s there for “saving his honor.” (Whatever.)

In the bowels of the cargo ship, Ayse tells the Yasaran boys that they’ll disembark when they get to Malta.

Fahrettin is skyping with Deniz and his wife, Jenny. Kerim and Fatma join him, and Mukaddes also makes sure to stick herself in front of the screen. Deniz and Jenny are both overjoyed to hear how the trial turned out. They want Kerim and Fatma to come visit them in Australia, but neither can travel until the rape trial is over. They promise to visit after the wedding, but have no wedding date set yet. They put that on their to do list.

Munir sneakily copies files from Resat’s laptop. On his way out, he spots Perihan and Hilmiye watching old home videos of Selim, Erdogan and Vural as kids, while drinking, laughing and crying at the same time. Munir shakes his head and says, “The whole world’s gone mad.”

While cuddled in bed, Kadir tells Meryem about the saga of his injured arm. He admits that he’s had two surgeries on that arm. The first, when he was 13 and they found a growth on his bone that nearly caused the doctors to amputate the arm. He gets teary as he describes how his father came into the operating room with him and told him, “Don’t worry, everything will be fine.” The next time he had to have surgery on the arm, was when he was at the lowest point of his alcoholism. He had just found out about his wife’s cancer. He was depressed and drank all the time-- punishing himself. One night, he tried to get into the house through the kitchen window and cut his arm and a major vein without even realizing. He had to have surgery again. Two days later, his father died. And now once again he’ll need surgery. But he’s not worried this time, because God heard him and brought him Meryem, and now all is well. Meryem cuddles close and says, “Don’t worry. Nothing bad will happen. Everything will be fine.”

Fatma has Elif in her room for the night, and snuggles with her in bed. She remembers Hacer asking her to care for her baby, if anything happens. Kerim comes in, and melts at the sight of Fatma and the baby. He kisses the baby, and kisses Fatma goodnight on a shiver-inducing spot somewhere between her neck and her cheek.

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 2:
A few days later, Fatma and Kerim bring Lodos back to the restaurant from the vet, where he got his vaccinations. Now, he can go outside and play. Fatma sees all the letters from organizations and individuals who have written to her. One of them is from Osge. She’s getting therapy, thinking about going back to school, and both her mom and sister have found work. The family also finds out that the Yasaran boys managed to flee overseas. Not good news.

In the bowels of the ship, Ayse confides in the cousin that she learned the smuggling trade from her father. He’s currently in jail. (Lovely.)

Selim’s jailbird daddy, gets huffy with his jailers because his lawyer, Munir, hasn’t come to visit him in days. They don’t care. But they do care when they find Resat’s cellmate dead. They eye him suspiciously as they take the man away, and Resat swears he had nothing to do with it. Later, he gets to stay in the infirmary, because the stress has elevated his blood pressure. He continues to whine about Munir not visiting.

Muge reports to Perihan and Hilmiye at the office that she has not heard from Erdogan and Selim again. She’s sure they’ll clear their names, and by the summer, she’ll be able to present Erdogan to her parents. Meltem eyes them suspiciously from the window. Hilmiye comments on how Erdogan found the perfect naïve and stupid girl to con. Meltem tells Ender that she wasn’t wrong about Muge. She’s sure she’s the snitch. Ender is too busy eyeing Lale, who has just emerged with Munir from a meeting some investors. Lale also sees her and looks uncomfortable. Ender tells Meltem, “I know that woman from somewhere.” Munir brags about Lale’s business prowess to Hilmiye and Perihan. They wonder, “Is that why you haven’t visited Resat all week?”

Fatma and Kerim are running things in the restaurant. They both observe an elderly couple finishing up lunch. They hold each other’s hand tenderly, and are clearly madly in love. Fatma and Kerim smile at each other, and Fatma serves the couple complimentary tea and cookies. They tell Fatma how lovely she is, and how they can see Kerim’s love for her in his eyes. They give the young couple advice. “Hold the hand of your beloved when you walk, and never let it go… Never lose hope. Your wounds will heal with love.”

The Yasaran boys are smelly, tired, and hungry. The play at daydreaming/fantasizing about eating rich food, and clubbing with a glammed up Ayse, to pass the time. Ayse is not amused about the club fantasy. “I don’t want to be in the dreams of someone like you. If only you were someone else. For a second I imagined you were honorable men.”

Hacer is still in Izmir, awaiting Omer’s call to tell her he got permission for her to see Mustafa. She’s gazing at baby clothes in a shop window, when all of a sudden Scarface pops up. He wants her to give him money to go away and give her a divorce. Otherwise, he’ll make sure her parents find out what she did for a living. (Guess they don’t watch or read the news.)

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 3:
Fatma and Kerim are gushing about the elderly couple that evening at home. “They were so sweet. You could see their love in their eyes…She’s a professor and he’s a doctor. They still take each other’s hand. Their love hasn’t diminished at all.” Kerim smiles at Fatma and says he’d love to experience the same. Kerim and Fatma are happy, so you know what that means… Mukaddes is NOT happy. She responds to Kerim, “We’ll see.”

The family discuss Kadir’s diagnosis, as Meryem looks up more info on the internet. Seems he has osteomyelitis (bone marrow death) which will require surgery, and 4-5 weeks recovery. Meryem is worried, but Kadir is not. He beams at his wife, and kisses her. “It’s not important as long as you’re with me. You’re my two hands. You make me happy.” Fatma and Kerim smile at each other as they observe yet another example of marital bliss.

Fahr returns home after spending the day out with Mumtaz. He speaks with Fatma and Kerim privately and tells them he sold the house in the woods, and he’s using the money to buy them a house in the city. Fatma and Kerim are shocked and taken aback. The try to refuse, but Fahr says he’s going to buy a house anyway, and if he does, he’d want them to live in it. But he wants them to have a house of their own. Mumtaz has already scouted a few. Kerim and Fatma can’t refuse. They tell the rest of the family. Though they like the idea in theory, both Kadir and Meryem are sad to lose Kerim and Fatma. They like the happily family they’ve all formed in the house. Mukaddes makes it all about her, and implies that she and Rahmi aren’t wanted, are parasites, and should return to Ildir. As they get ready for bed, Kadir and Meryem accept the idea a bit more. If Fatma and Kerim are starting a family, they should have their own house. Kadir generously thinks Mukaddes, Rahmi and the kids should stay, either in the main house with them, or he can do some renovations to the adjoining house to make it more comfortable.

Fatma and Kerim sit on a bench in the garden and talk about the house.
K: Perhaps, we’ll feel lonely in the beginning. We’ll have to get accustomed to the house and to being together all the time.
F: We’ve really never been alone. It will be the first time you and I are alone.
K: Our (love) story will start once we get rid of all those bad people. I promise you. It will be a good story.
F: I know.

They start to kiss, but it comes to an abrupt halt when Fatma looks up and sees Mukaddes spying on them from the balcony. Fatma jumps up from the bench, and Kerim wants to know why the embarrassment when they’re grown up, married folk. Fatma goes inside, madly fanning her hot, flushed cheeks and face. Mukaddes is waiting for her. “You’d better finish that dress and get married soon. Can’t you see your man is burning for you? Don’t let him burn up. Now is the best moment.” Indeed, both Fatma and Kerim seem to be burning.

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday, Part 4:
Meltem reads Dr. Nil’s latest blog post, where she calls out the doctors who altered Fatma’s rape medical report, and shames them for bringing dishonor to their profession. Ender is busy looking through her old yearbooks, and finds what she was looking for—Lale! Except, back then Lale was her last name. She was a year behind Ender. Internet results on her only go back 8 years, when she formed her public relations company. Ender is sure Lale is hiding her identity for some reason, and she’ll find out why. Meanwhile, Munir has dinner with Lale, and kisses up to her. She asks if Resat knows about all the business deals they are securing, and he assures her he does. He trusts him (Munir) more than anyone else. And of course, Munir trusts Lale. “You’re a miracle worker.”

Erdogan goes stir crazy, tries to leave the hiding place in the ship for air, and gets slapped by Ayse for his trouble. It knocks over a can, and soon they have to hide when some of the crew, including the guy they are paying, come to investigate. Their guy tells them he’ll have to move them to another part of the ship. Later, when he’s in the process of moving them, a crewmate catches them. Selim ends up having to promise to pay him $15K to keep quiet and help hide them. Half now. Half when they get to port.

Fatma, Kerim, and Fahr go house hunting, and take Mukaddes for some crazy reason. The realtor shows them beautiful, big houses, but this is exactly NOT what Kerim and Fatma want. They want something modest. Mukaddes thinks they’re fools. Fatma: “You should feel comfortable in your own home, but we don’t feel that here.” Kerim: “There’s no need to spend so much money, Papa. Let us find a house and tell you.” Fahr agrees.

Omer finally secures Hacer a pass to see Mustafa. He comes into the visiting room looking all 8 Mile in his hoodie. He starts his litany: “Why are you crying? I’m mad at you, but I’m madder at myself…It was just by chance that I met you. You chose me and approached me. You intervened in my life. You were my first mujer. The first I shared a bed with…One time you told me that I was with you to punish myself for the wrong I had done. You were right. After I turned my back on Fatma, I wanted to punish myself. I was with you, despite knowing what you did for a living… I wanted to be the man you wanted-- the man who protected and loved you. But, I’m not that man. I wanted to be a father to that baby. The only thing I have left is my child. I won’t ever forgive you for testifying against me. I’ll get my revenge with just one sentence—I only love Fatmagul…and NO ONE else.” With that, he leaves Hacer devastated and weeping.

 

FATMAGUL, Wednesday Part 5:
The weeks pass and it’s already March 29th. Fatma, Kerim, Rahmi, Meryem, and Kadir (sporting a post-op cast and sling) arrive at the restaurant. Fatma scolds Kerim for his poor parking, and confidently takes the truck’s keys to do it herself. They all commend her for her skills, and Kerim for being a good teacher. Meryem won’t let Kadir overwork himself, so he says he’ll set his office up in the restaurant to remain under her supervision. Everyone is happy and teasing each other until they get into the restaurant and find neither Mehmet nor Lodos. Mehmet returns calling for Lodos. He ran after a cat earlier, and got off his leash. A worried Mehmet has been searching for him. They all join the search.

The Yasaran boys and Ayse finally dock. She passes through customs easily with her real passport. Next, Selim with his fake one. Erdogan is made to sweat a lot longer as the agent scrutinizes his fake passport, but eventually he gets through too. After paying off the guys on the boat crew, they still have a bundle of cash. “Finally, we’re free!”

Resat is also free. At least until his trial. Munir speaks to the press and tells them the truth will come out during the trial. The press asks about Perihan being the one to turn Resat in, and ask if they are divorcing. Perihan is right there to greet her husband with a kiss, hold his hand, and play the Good Wife. “Does it look like they’re divorcing?” They drop each other’s hand like a hot potato as soon as they are out of direct sight of the cameras. Resat whispers to Munir as he gets into the car, “Tomorrow you start with the divorce proceedings.”

Fatma and Kerim find Lodos many blocks away, and carry him back in their arms like a baby. Fatma scolds him, and calls him their son. They pass by a gated road, and Fatma is the first to stop and look in amazement beyond the gates. We don’t get to see what they see.
F: Kerim! Isn’t it lovely?
K: It couldn’t be more perfect.
F: I feel like it’s calling to me.
K: It’s asking us to revive/renovate it. I can hear it. I’ll turn it into a palace for you!
F: I know you will, Kerim.
Happy family hug, and kiss from Lodos.

J...welcome back for the visit. I agree with all your observations about Fatma's personality before that night. She was a normal healthy girl with a joyful and playful personality....even in the shadow of Muka back then. Its good see her becoming more and more of her old self and she heals from the event

I like smuggler girl. She gave Erdo a well deserved smack....again! Where was she at the beginning of this series...because that's what he has needed all along....a good beat down...to be put in his place. And she's a woman and he has to take it...that's what making it so sooo good :>)

Glad Papabear is on the case about getting F&K their on place. I've been wanting them to put some real distance between themselves and Muka for the longest time. And yes, Muka is a parasite and should find her own shelter with her own family. She still has the money from the bribe and selling the land. She's not spent any of it from what I can tell because she didn't help with the restaurant financially and she's always waited for others to pull out their wallet first for everything else.

And of course, Muka has to insert herself in the house hunt. Nice of Kadir to offer that Muke and Rhami can stay with them but I don't like the idea....nor do I like the idea of them finding a place near Fatma...only because of Muka. She's a user and hater and she will still find a way to make their lives miserable.

FATMAGUL:

Nett- Yes, Mukaddes still has all that money in the bank, and could very well get her own place for her family. Actually, a third of that money should be Fatma's, because the house and land belonged to her and Rahmi, inherited from their parents. They also only sold the house, and still own most of the land, just like Meryem. But it's sweet that Kadir and Meryem have no issues with them staying in the house with them, although they are the least connected to them. I think the kids benefit from having Meryem and Kadir around as surrogate grandparents too.

It will be interesting to see how Kerim and Fatma interact when they are finally living alone together. Will they loosen up, or become more shy and uptight. We saw a glimpse of both when they were in the cabin.

As for Erdogan, it is nice to see him get smacked around. But he's only taking it because he HAS to rely on Ayse. I don't think his arrogance or sense of entitlement has changed at all yet.
 

Eva. Excellent succinct recap, deb! About the video--I certainly hope Pancho's security at the sausage factory and his commercial bakery is better than what he has at home! Not counting on him to get backup for the video even now. I loved to see Pablo decking Armando--almost as satisfying as when Armando got tased in his um masculine parts toward the beginning of the series. The scene of the viewing of the Arnulfo video was almost anti-climactic, as Bobby refused to accept its truth--but presumably he'll come around. Once again Soraya is almost incredibly wise, about Armando, Marlene, etc. And indeed, Betty and Marlene are going to try to use Betty's pregnancy to try to separate Pablo and Eva. Very suspenseful about what horrible things Marlene might have in store for Eva's daughters--framing on a drug charge for Adriana? Locking Fabiola up in a institution?

You're right about Erdo and his sense of entitlement. He has to grin and bear it right now so he's sucking it up. A guy like him wouldn't take being pushed around for too long. So I'm enjoying while it's happening.

Just wish smuggler girl was available to slap Muka around. I'm watching live today and don't like what I'm seeing.

My iritation today is with Telemundo and their cutting what some might consider some very important parts. If its about saving time...they could edit better and choose differently....but they haven't given this TN what it deserves from the beginning. Too bad because it's been a great show.

Regarding Muka...and her not using the money and sticking around....I wonder what her motivation is. I mean she loves her kids and could take them with her....with our without Rhami. And while she can't have Sali...she could definitely leave if she wanted to and find someone else.

Eva. Also in this episode I kind of enjoyed the play on words between montaña rusa (roller coaster) and russian roulette--Enrique used the first for Pablo's difficulties, while Pablo used the second--both are probably true.
 

FATMAGUL:

Nett- Mukaddes enjoys being in people's business too much to want to live on her own. Plus, she doesn't want to be divorced, single, and raising two kids on her own. Not only would it be hard (with or without money), but that carries a LOT of stigma in their society. The only way she'd dump Rahmi is if she had another man lined up (like Sahli), and they ceratinly aren't lining up around the block for her.

What really drove Marlene nuts was when Armando said that it was her fault that mí Eva was now with another man.

Betty has said several times that she now hates Pablo. But when she was talking with Marisol she said something about his realizing Eva was in there for 25 years, getting tired of waiting, and … (presumably turning to her). That’s when Marisol dropped the bomb about Eva being out on bail.

Well, Pablo isn’t going to go back to Betty. So the thing that would break them up is Eva getting all noble on us and saying he has to marry Betty or some such. And, because of Eva's sensitivity about the age difference, she probably won't take the same sensible approach as Adela in Bajo el Mismo Cielo when she learned of Felicia's pregnancy. The writers in that one had to come up with Rodrigo falling for Adela to arrive at the stereotypical separation of the protagonists.

Bobby needs a swift kick in the rear end. He’s going to need to apologize a thousand times when he realizes Soraya lost him through no fault of her own.

I think the conversation between Robert and the other guy (board member? Robert’s attorney? Not sure) was about Pancho having cleverly inserted a clause in the paper that Bobby signed requiring two signatures, one of them Pancho’s. So, when Robert took whatever action he announced in front of his board that day, appropriating some money, again it was very vague, he committed fraud since the document was not valid.

SpanProf, thanks for the play on words comment. I let montaña rusa roll right by me without understanding. Sometimes unfamiliar terms pique my curiosity and I look them up. Sometimes, especially after watching the novela after Spanish class last night, I just let that be an unknown!

Vivi...I thought about the cultural thing after I hit publish...but you're right. Muka doesn't want to be divorced in her cultural.

And after today's epi...f you didn't already know it, you should know that she just doesn't want to see Fatma happy. You want to wonder what did Fatma ever do to her. But the reality is...Muka is miserable and frustrated with the way her own life has turned out. Now...she only get's joy in others pain. She should end up alone a broke.

Muka took credit for getting F&K together and now she wants to tear them apart. Misery loves company I guess. She knows once they get married, Kerim won't tolerate her interference and messiness but he definitely fell for the trap today.

Eva. :) Thanks, novelera! I'm not even sure how I knew the words for roller coaster in Spanish. I think it may have shown up in a short story I taught years ago and just seemed like such a bizarre term that it stuck in my mind. Why rusa? I'll try to look it up in Wikipedia or some other online source.
 

Eva. Evidently it's montaña rusa because it's similar to indoor toboggan rides developed in Russia as winter entertainment. Evidently the Russians call roller coasters "American mountains." Go figure. What would we do without Wikipedia?
 

Fatma: Thanks Vivi so much. Nett, Muka is a miserable, evil witch. The reason Kerim feell for her trick is that normal people can not imagine those kind of underhanded tricks. I mean how can you even think of something like that unless you are twisted? I won't say more because not everyone may have seen that episode. In one word, I would describe the episode with SWEET. Sweet moments between Fatma and Kerim, Fatma glowed in this episode just glowed ,sweet moments with Kadir and Meryem,sweet moments between Selim, the rapist and Ayse her name on the boat. Bittersweet moments with Perihan and Hilmyie crying and laughing at the same time so well done amazing acting. Sweet moments between Asu and SamI. Sweet moments when Lobos ran away after the cat ,and the way Fatma was carrying him like a baby, and now finding their dream house did I say Sweet. Bitter for Asu, she still have hopes for Musta. Wow.

Romy- I'm looking forward to seeing what happened today when I get home. But Wednesday's episode was indeed sweet. I just loved all those moments between Kerim & Fatma, Meryem & Kadir, and that sweet old couple. And yes, Sami has become quite a rock for Hacer. He was not on board with giving her ex money.

Fatma and Kerim are so funny with Lodos. He really is their fur baby. That's how they treat him and how they think of him. It's so funny that they cradle him like a baby when they carry him, but I'm betting he'll be too big for that soon.

I've now watched some of the episodes online (I'm going away in a few weeks, and I actually need to get ahead to pre-plan recaps for the last week), and I see that Telemundo is indeed cutting some scenes that are really quite good. It's a shame. I'm going to try to include that stuff whenever I can (when I remember).
