Un Camino Hacia El Destino-Week 4 (Mar 14, 2016)

A plea from the editorial desk: could anyone step up to post a few short overviews this week? I will be unable to take up the reins again until Week 5.

Lots happened last week. Pedro lost control and started to assault Amelia sexually; Luis can't be sure who is being truthful about Old Fer's granddaughter's existence; Marissa is beginning to doubt her allure for her husband, but our "May-December" pairing is still heating up, despite Amelia, Camila, Felipe and Isabela's efforts to break up Luisa Fernanda and Dr. Carlos Gomez Ruiz. Is this a love that is going to last a lifetime? Tune in to see.

Did you know that Luisa Fernanda is the name of a famous Spanish zarzuela by F. Moreno Torroba? It debuted at Madrid's Teatro Calderon on March 26, 1932. In many ways it was the last great romantic zarzuela. To quote, "Torroba's music certainly offers colorful Spanish charm, as well as fair helpings of graceful Viennese musical comedy and Italian operatic verismo....[his] melodies are consistently memorable and his theatrical instinct never falters."

I'm really sorry to have to leave you for a week. I may be able to check in once in awhile--but cannot watch any of the episodes until the weekend. Have fun.

J in O, Amelia probably makes Fer clean the stove and the paneling around it. Oh, for those big rancho tiled kitchens in CME and LQNPA (and lots of help).

ANITA,thank you so much for posting all these great recaps. You deserve a week off--but sounds like you will be verra, verra busy doing something else this week!

Is there an extreme makeover in Amelia's future? Can't picture her sticking with the frumpy clothes and hair for the duration. We picture her all glammed up...and maybe she will catch Luis' eye and he won't realize who she is. Hehehe. Revenge is sweet, but in Amelia's hands it get ugly. No spoiler, just guessing.

Running to work; thank you again Anita!

J in Oregon

I agree with you J in Oregon that Anita has been doing a bang-up job on this, and totally on her own! Thanks so much, Anita, and I hope that whatever you are doing involves some R&R.

So last night we learned that the tangle haired leech used to be Miss Universe? Oh, God.

Fer and Pedro decide that the best way to deal with Amelia is to lie to her? Good plan. Lying always is the best plan.

It looks like, if she wanted it, Ignacio would be an appreciative suitor for Marissa, but she's too hung up on her unfaithful schmuck of a husband to notice.

I was struck by the ethics of Marissa's doc. Rather than plunge into an unending series of plastic surgery procedures, he advised a few changes in lifestyle, some exercise, and working on her self esteem.

I think it is the joint duty of Fer and Carlos to break the news to Camila.

I don't know exactly what kinds of attributes women look for in a man, but out of the billions upon billions of men in the world, I think Hernan would rank at the bottom, or at best, second from the bottom.

David

I would really like to see amelia with a makeover I think she'd look very nice because she's a pretty lady and then after the makeover she could use an attitude adjustment and then she can go and beg, yes I said beg Pedro to forgive her for being a king-sized ass for 19 years. And apologize to her daughter for treating her so horribly for 19 years and then go home to Daddy fer and make up with him and get some things straight with wicked sis. Now don't get me wrong I know forcing someone to have sex with you is wrong and he probably should have just walked away instead of getting drunk and going back to the house to do that, but he owned it and then he walked away, I think. he should just cut her loose after Fernanda graduates from high school. I'd Like to see him with the bosslady, which just might happen anyway aftet all the shock of the baby daddy drama, and schoolgirl love triangle/hairy lady drama is over.

Anita thank you for your recapping and putting up the discussion page for all of us hanger onners of this tn. Its getting better as it goes on and I was hoping that more people would become interested in it but I guess there are some interested in it enough to keep this discussion page going and seems to be getting better with each episode Thank you so much for doing what you do and I hope you have a good relaxing time away for a week or whatever it is you're doing, I just hope you get some rest cuz you're very good to us people that don't know how to recap but just read & comment, but anyway thank you, thank you very much. :-) you're a rock star girl ☆★☆★☆

Anita thank you for diligently keeping this page going. It's much appreciated by me and I find that I really love this TN. I have to admit that I'm really sick of Amelia's attitude. She got pregnant and betrayed. It sucks for sure, but 19 years of that bitter stick up her a$$ has to get old for those around her. Geez how has Pedro put up with her and the being denied the bed? Forget about nookie...just let the man up off the floor.

Camila is a delusional little girl. How does she not read the signals that Carlos is sending her? Girl..he's not just not that into you.

I love Marissa. She's a truly classy elegant woman. I hope she busts her low life husband soon and finds someone who will really appreciate her for her external as well as internal beauty. I think she and Pedro would be wonderful together and I found their outing to buy plants completely enchanting.

Here are a few bullets for last night's episode, but I'm not guaranteeing I've got everything exactly correct or in the right order.

* Amelia interviews for a job at Marissa's bank. It looks hopeful. Rather than admit to running a food stand, Amelia lies and says that she's been a stay-at-home mom.

* Mariana is cruel to the servants at Don Fernando's house, whereas we see Carlos treating a housekeeper (his nana?) with love and respect.

* Mariana and Hernan encounter Luis and Marissa while at a restaurant for lunch and then invite them for dinner at Don Fernando's house.

* Camila (Hernan's daughter from a previous marriage) is also invited. She is elated because she think that Carlos is going to announce that they are novios. She tells Fernanda, who becomes teary-eyed.

* Seaweed Hair girl thinks Carlos is going to her apartment for dinner. (I thought she couldn't cook. Maybe she picked up some take-out.)

* Carlos tells his mother that he is not coming to dinner, and instead meets Fernanda for a lakeside tryst.

* Fernanda later tells Pedro about the tryst, reminding him that he agree to her seeing Carlos, but she does not tell Amelia.

* At Don Fernando's house, the dinner takes an interesting turn. While the cook steps out of the kitchen for a moment, the housekeeper dumps what looks like a carton of salt into a large pot. She remembers how Luis and Mariana treated Amelia, so this is her way of getting a wee bit of revenge. Not only is the food horrible, but she also spills a pitcher of water all over Luis.

Also:

* Amelia talks with Rev Mother Rosaura and tells her that she's going to divorce Pedro and begin a new life.

* Carlos helps Pedro with his landscaping work and wins some points.

This is all so great. Thanks. Will be back in touch soon.

Anita thanks for the brief bullet points. She supposedly dropped salt in the pot, hah! That was a lovely accident, that H20 Should have been hot that landed in his lap. Mariana is acting like a shrew, screamin at the cook, whose been cookin there like forever. Shes Actin like somebody thats in menopause phase.

I really can't stand amelia's "POOR ME, I'BE BEEN TRASHED, NO ONE UNDERSTANDS" act. I really understand perfectly, shes a hateful mean she devil. I don't know which one I can't stand the most her or her poor mean put upon sister. Theres no lesser of two evils here, there both evil. Both are well suited for luis.

This show is takin a lot of twists and turns. It'll all blowv up in court. The phony law suit. Thatvwill blow a lot of stuff out of the water. In the mean time we watch all the garbage leading up to it. What a hot mess.

Aleta, thanks for the bullet points!

Carlos is being more assertive about his independence than in most tns, but he's still not behaving like I would like to see him. When Isabela showed up at his hospital he should have called security and had her banned from the site forever. Or, the hospital is too poor to have a security staff? Then stand 10 feet away from her and tell her 1) get this stuff out of here, and 2) I don't ever want to see you again, ever, under any circumstances. Her trump card of showing him lots of skin crashed and burned.

I feel sorry for Camila. Her emotions are being yanked around by lying people, and her best friend Fer isn't helping the situation by not being honest with her.

Blanca sabotaging the dinner party was the funniest thing I have ever seen on a tn. I smiled when she dumped all that salt in the cream of celery soup, then for the first time ever, I laughed out loud when she dumped the water into Luis' lap.

Luis lost his lawsuit, was castigated by the judge, then threatened Fer. Luis doesn't play well with others. He needs to sit in the time out chair for a while.

When Isabela visited Marissa the morning after her disastrous come on to Carlos at the hospital, I thought that for the first time, Marissa got a glimpse of what a BSC woman Isabela is.

David

Happy St. Patrick's Day, patio peeps! Here are a few highlights from Wednesday's episode:

* Fernanda tells Pedro that she saw her mother getting dressed up for a job interview, and she asks if they're getting a divorce. Fernanda says that she's not a child and she wants to know the truth.

* Isabela surprises Carlos at the hospital with a candlelight dinner and sexy lingerie. He wants none of it. He blows out the candles and refuses her.

* Felipe shows up to tell Fernanda that the lawsuit verdict is tomorrow. She pretends that he's a friend in front of Pedro. When Felipe asks why, she asks if he really thinks that she's going to tell her father that she's trying to swindle someone out of money.

* Luis and Marissa leave without having dinner. Mariana and Hernan are unsuccessful at getting them to stay. Gramps says that Mariana and Hernan don't have the smallest bit of dignity. He says that the only thing they didn't do was kiss the soles of Luis and Marissa's shoes.

* Camila, crying, tells Fernanda that Carlos has another novia. Fernanda feels bad (because even though she's a swindler, thanks to Felipe, she's a sweet girl who actually cares about people other than herself).

* Marissa and Luis talk about the dinner fiasco. She says that it's a dinner they will never forget.

* Mariana tries to fire Blanca, but Don Fernando overhears Blanca saying that Mariana has loved Luis all her life and that Amelia has paid the consequences. Blanca doesn't get a chance to spit out the truth because Don Fernando nearly has a heart attack from the stress.

* Carlos gets a call just as he's coming out of the shower wrapped in a towel. (The galans in TNs always spend their free time in showers. You'd think that, once in a while, they'd be watching a soccer game or something.)

* Blanca prays to St. Jude, feeling it is her fault that Don Fernando is ill.

*Andrea (Isabela's friend) realizes that Isabela is loca.

* Meanwhile, at the court, Luis threatens Fernanda that the misery she's experienced so far is nothing like what she will experience after today.

* Don Fer asks why Mariana is interested in Luis. She replies that it's his fault; he arranged her marriage to a man she didn't love. He's responsible for her unhappiness.

* Don Fer asks Blanca what she had been about to say, but she won't say. Apparently she doesn't want to make him ill again. He makes Mariana apologize to Blanca. Mariana says the words, but she's not feeling it.

* Hernan tells Camila to fight for her love. (I guess if he said "He's just not that into you," the telenovela would be minus a story arc.)

* The verdict is in: Luis has to pay.

* Luis tells Carlos that his girlfriend is a swindler, and Carlos reminds him that the money isn't coming out of Luis's pockets anyway (implying that Marissa pays for everything).

* Luis threatens Fernanda again, and he almost hits Fernanda with his car.

Aleta, thanks for your bullet points recap. You did this so well. Despite your abbreviated format, you were able to incorporate a few telling zingers: "you'd thing that, once in a while, they'd be watching a soccer game or something;" "I guess is he said "He's just not that into you," the telenovela would be minus a story arc."

Thanks again, Aleta.

David

Thanks for this page. It is aggravating when you want to talk to someone about it and no one else is there to agree or disagree.

I almost had the slightest hope for Amelia when she was actually happy and hugged Fer, but alas...the b*tch came back. I can see falling for a jerk when you are young, but you've had 19 years of a sweet, gentle, love you more than himself man, and you still stupid?? Pedro looks 1000 and 1 times better than that Luis that has women falling all over him (like he's Carlos or something) blech...not to mention he's an a$$ and has become a worse one in 19 years.

Pedro is getting on my nerves (I really like him) but this doormat persona is not attractive at all and he's stupid too for not seeking pleasure somewhere else - at least by now! She don't want you man, c'mon! I give you a pass...get that thing annulled...something!

Aleta--thank you so much for the breezy yet satisfyingly complete bullet point list! It is much appreciated!

Am I the only one who wants to just smack Isabela ("mop-head")? She thinks Carlos saying "No" is her cue to go strip down and pose on his bed? Sheesh! Or as Lila often said, "Jeezo-Pete!" Camila is not much better at getting a hint. Maybe Carlos needs to brush up on his communication skilz.

So frustrating that Blanca decided not to spill the beans to Fernando about Amelia and the nieta. Come on, the truth won't kill him--he'll be happy!

Agree that Marissa is a sweetheart, maybe there is an end-game for her and Pedro.
My only frustration with this TN is the convoluted past relationships from multiple families. I have given up trying to sort it out, who has been in love with Luis, who is related, etc. Just sitting back and enjoying.

J in Oregon

Hi Kendra, glad to see you on here. Our little group is starting off small but hope more people will filter into the patio to watch.

J in Oregon

Aleta, pretty name. Thanks for this short and to the point recapsis. Im liking this tn more and more.

KENDRA, you hit it out the park girl. Its been 19 agonizing years and he is still with this cold frozen fish what is wrong with Pedro? he is too good for his own good. sleeping on the floor and then taking all this crap from her really I mean come on he's in love or he's stupid, I think he's kind of stupid. if he plays his cards right he'll end up with the boss lady I think they'd make a really cute couple she is such a nice person and he is so sweet both of them deserve better than a dog's they got. the only time Amelia was a nice person is when she was duped into thinking that she was the love of Luis's life after that the girl got into b*tch mode and she been there for the last 19 years. and she had the nerve to blame her daughter for her sorry state of being, that deserves a smack, but sweet Fernanda Is not going to smack her Mama. If Pedro's sister wasn't a nun she probably would have knocked her over that desk.

Pedro need to just let her go and he can get an annulment because they never had sex he slept on the floor for 19 years, poor man. So he could just get an annulment that marriage never happened. if he and the boss got married she'd probably get pregnant right off the bat. Theres a good reason why she never got pregnant by that jackass shes married to.. I know she gave him an explanation of why she couldn't, something happened after she had Carlos but she could get a miracle being married to Pedro.

Ok yall, this is a really good story, I hope more people get into it. Thanks Aleta :-)

I feel very very foolish but I have completely missed these posts!!

I actually watched the first few episodes but stopped watching because I got lost quickly.

Because my Spanish comprehension is so poor, I do not think I will be able to catch up but now that I know the summaries are available, I will try to watch.

I will need to go back and read all the posts. In the meantime, thank you to Anita, Aleta and anyone else who has recapped.

(Embarrassed) Diana

TGIF, patio peeps! Here are some highlights from last night's episode:

* Carlos asks Felipe why he seems worried, and Felipe tells him that his stepfather tried to run over Fernanda with the car. Carlos storms off.

* Luis arrives home and informs Marissa that he lost the case, and that it was all Carlos's fault. Isabela complains about Pedro's new novia. Marissa says that her husband and son hate each other, but the only think that Isabela can think of is the other girl.

* Carlos storms in and slugs Luis. Luis then head-butts Carlos. A fight ensues on the big white sofa (and it looks like they're mostly punching pillows). Marissa breaks up the fight, and Carlos's hair is sticking up like a bad cowlick.

* At the taco stand, Amelia is mugged by a couple of street thugs. Our brave Fernanda runs up and starts beating them off with a broom. Then some young men from the barrio step in and fend them off.

* Amelia goes shopping for some clothes for her job at the bank. She's rude to the street vendors that she passes by.

* Carlos tells Fernanda that nothing will ever separate them. (Uh-oh, that spells trouble ahead.)

* Amelia gets a call. She has the job.

* Adeline has professional photos taken in order to get a modeling job. Her friend Lucero accompanies her and freaks out from the flash photography.

* Amelia arrives for her new job. She cleans up nicely. She meets Marissa, and they both smile. Turns out this job is not as good as she thought, she doesn't want to be a servant, but she decides to take it anyway. (According to Merriam-Webster online and spanishdict.com, "intendencia" means "management, administration." Sounds pretty good to me.)

* Mariana arrives at Luis's office and plants a kiss on him, just as Andrea arrives.

* Camila looks for Fernanda and finds her with Carlos. Camila appears to finally see the light.

* Pedro wonders where he will live if he and Amelia divorce. Fernanda tells him about Amelia's new job.

* Marissa and Carlos talk. She tells him that Fernanda is going to be a great torment in his life. He replies that his only torment is Isabela.

* Pedro meets with Felipe to discuss legal matters.

* Amelia tells Fernanda that she is going to work for the bank president.
Fernanda asks if it is Marissa, and Amelia wants to know how she knows Marissa's name. Fernanda is tongue-tied, but fortunately for her, Amelia answers her own question: Fernanda must have heard Marissa's name because she is high society.

* Camila tells Fernanda that she's going to fight for Carlos, and that she will even go to bed with him. And she says that her father supports her on this. (I think she needs to see an otorrinolaringólogoaotorrinolaringóloga. That's an ear, nose, and throat specialist and may be the longest word in Spanish.)

Good day everyone--I've just started to read Aleta's highlights. Thank you, so much for keeping this going. The comments have been great, too.

Diana--Yes, you missed where I mentioned on PyP and Hotel we would be doing recaps--as time permitted. I hope you catch up and watch with us.

Aleta--Don't change anything, but everyone probably recognizes that Isabela was thinking of Carlos' schoolgirl crush and it is Carlos that fought with Luis, not Pedro.

You said it, "(Uh-oh, that spells trouble ahead.)" I am so tired of that phrase. It's there because it is 100% they are going to be separated. Why can't they just let it happen. We get it.

"Camila appears to finally see the light." There was a light there, but poor Camila doesn't know it's Fer. She still thinks it is the "other" novia, and poor Fer realizes it. After that last conversation about sleeping with Carlos ought to be a sign that maybe she isn't such a good friend to have.

I guess we will find out tonight what intendencia is. I think it is the administrative side, but that includes cleaning and maintenance. I thought she was going to be working in the cleaning department. Whatever it is, it is not as glamorous as she made it out to be to Fernanda, but she took the job anyway.

Felipe now knows Pedro is Fernanda's dad. And the legal matter was that Amelia wants a divorce. I'm sure she's going to make a big deal of revealing he isn't Fer's bio-dad and he's going to try to prevent it.

NOTE: I can do a recap for tonight, but will post it tomorrow, Saturday. Aleta, is that ok with you?

Thanks J in Oregon and Nina!

Nina, I'm looking forward to a Pedro/Marisa relationship while they leave their miserable spouses on the outside looking in, but a baby...talk about adding icing onto a cake! That would be too awesome.

And those crazy women...Camila and Isabella (especially Isa), need to get some dignity. At least he's cute...that dang Luis (eww) what is that about? He has way too many women in awe. And those sisters still pinning for 20 years? give me a break!

Yes, Anita, it would be great if you did a recap tonight! I now have a greater appreciation for all the work that you and the other recappers do! Glad you are back!

Anita, If Amelia is overseeing the maintenance department, she may be supervising the landscaping work that Pedro does at the bank. That might get interesting, especially if they're involved in some kind of legal tangle regarding the divorce.

Hi everyone!!

I didn't expect it but this telenovela is actually good!

I'm looking forward to a Pedro-Marisa romance too. I think it would be a very sweet relationship. Both of them have some serious self-esteem problems and maybe they could help each other in that respect. They both deserve so much better than these awful spouses they've got, they should learn to love themselves more. Eugenia Cauduro has always been one of my favorite actresses (she's an incredibly classy woman, even with some extra weight on) and this is the first time I see Jorge Aravena but I think I'm falling in love with him. He's such a good actor, so fresh ans spontaneous, and very good looking too!

Good morning everyone. The recap will be up shortly. It was an easy, pleasant one to do and Blanca was my heroine last night. She certainly made Luis squirm.

Kendra--Your thoughts and my thoughts exactly. I was going to use that "male attraction" as a theme for the Week 5 discussion header. I think I still will.

J, I'll do a brief relationship list for you (and me) later.

Welcome Lucy Lu to our small group of devotés. So happy to have you comment. You aren't the only one surprised this telenovela is as good as it is. We probably have to thank casting, writing and directing.

Glad to see everyone else is hanging in, David, Delilah, and Nina. I hope we can snare Diana, too.

Aleta, thank you for doing the heavy lifting (maybe we could get you to do one of your highlight recaps next week????--pretty please?)

EPISODE #19 (Fri Mar 18) Pt. 1
BE STILL MY HEART – Arturo Carmona has just entered the picture as the substitute literature professor. On with the recap.

After a stress-filled day where Carlos fought with Luis (over Luis “pretending” to intentionally run over Fernanda after the court hearing) and had it out Isabela (he thinks), he’s gone back to the hospital for night-duty. He thinks of Fernanda. Fer is at home thinking about Carlos and hopes they’ll be able to get Luis to forgive her. She would like to be able to go to Carlos’ house and help her father with the landscaping. Fer calls Carlos to apologize for running off after Camila and leaving him. Camila was in bad shape and is getting worse. She’d like to see him. He arranges to pick her up in a little while and go somewhere to talk.

Isabel is feeling the put down she got from Carlos. She’s getting wasted and thinking about that collegiana esa. Andrea promises to get her name, for sure. Isy complains that she was sure Carlos was hers and sure of his love and along comes that insignificant schoolgirl and took it all away. Through her boozy fog, she declares she’s bound and determined to teach her a lesson for robbing boyfriends.

Luis is visiting Old Fer at his home. Mariana is there and Blanca is listening just out of sight. Luis has just told him that the detective could find no trace of Pedro and Amelia in San Antonio (TX). Mariana swears that’s what she heard, but the source is no longer in the country, so it can’t be verified. Luis promises to renew the search. As he leaves, Mariana chases Luis out of the house. He knows she’s been lying to her father. She ought to come clean. She just needs to find the right time. That’s not what’s on her mind. She wants to know who that blonde chippie is who walked into his office while they were together. Luis says he doesn’t need to give Mariana an explanation. He drives away in his big black SUV.

Fernanda and Carlos go to a restaurant to talk, but they smooch a lot, too. They go over their earlier conversation about Camila, but Fer never mentions that Cam is willing to go so far as to go to bed with Carlos if need be. Fer wants to know about the argument (and fight) Carlos had with Luis. She knows he’s very angry with her. Carlos wants Fer to trust him. He knows about the incident outside the courthouse, but he’s there to make sure nothing and nobody can put up barriers to their love. Carlos only wants to talk about them. He’s there to love and protect her. She looks at him adoringly.

Blanca, the Altamirano nanny, shows up at Luis’ office. Boy, she has his number and lights in on him right away. She spills more than water on him. She spills the whole Amelia-Luis-pregnancy-grandchild-Old Fer-abandonment story on him. At first he denies any relationship with Amelia. She knows very well that he knows that grandchild does exist and furthermore, she’s Luis’ child. Luis wonders how she knows it’s HIS child? Blanca says he doesn’t fool her, she knows exactly who he is and she raised Amelia and there were no secrets between them. He finally admits his relationship with Amelia. He only denied it because he didn’t think anyone else knew about it. She tells him it was his fault Old Fer threw her out.

Amelia is up early to go to work. She tells Pedro and Fer who and where she’ll be working. Pedro realizes she’ll be working for Marissa, Fernanda’s novio’s mother.

Carlos has that mysterious nightmare again where he hears a woman’s voice shouting, “Open, open for me.” (We know it to be Amelia trying to get into the Luis-Marissa outdoor wedding when Carlos was about 10.) He wakes remembering her voice, but never seeing her face.

EPISODE #19 (Fri Mar 18) Pt. 2
Rosario brings Carlos breakfast to his room. He’s in a great mood. He dreamed of Fernanda, but better yet he fixed things with Isabela. Rosario tells him the person who didn’t sleep well is Isy. Andrea called Marissa to come check on Isy.

Carlos tells Rosario he never mentioned Fernanda’s name to Isabel on purpose. He’s aware his mother knows she’s the same girl who was in the accident with Luis and how he feels about her, but didn’t tell her Fernanda’s name. Rosario thinks Luis will be very displeased with their relationship. That, Carlos does not care about. Just wait, though, until his mother learns Fer is the gardener’s daughter.

Isy is in terrible shape. She’s falling down drunk. Isy tells Marissa how Carlos dumped her for a schoolgirl. He was cheating on her. She knew it. Marissa tries to calm her down. Marissa doesn’t know the girl’s name.

Blanca and Luis continue their conversation in his office. Blanca calls him a hypocrite saying he’ll search for that grandchild (note: she never mentions Fernanda’s name) when they both know he doesn’t want her ever to be found. Luis in a show of remorse, tears just glistening in his eyes, says this is his only flesh and blood child. He does want to find her. Blanca wishes she could believe him.

Pedro and Fer run the quesadilla stand in Amelia’s absence. Fer entertains the patrons on the violin.

Luis calls Mariana and lets her know about Blanca’s visit. He calls her a liar. Mariana tries to deny Blanca’s story as a lie and says he shouldn’t believe a lying servant’s story over hers. Luis demands to know where Amelia and his daughter are. Mariana scoffs at him. Is he going to leave Marissa for Amelia? Luis says it’s none of her business. When he does find them, he’ll be the one to bring them to Old Fer and then Old Fer will know how she lied to him. He hangs up on her. Mariana thought bubbles that she must find the girl first.

Mariana leaves right after breakfast to find Amelia’s bastard and get rid of her, otherwise, her inheritance is at risk and she loses any meaning to her life, married to a jerk her father chose for her.

Amelia imagines herself an important bank official, but it turns out she’s just a cleaning lady. She has a pity party of one. She chews herself out while she dusts. She could have had all this if she hadn’t slept with a man who doesn’t even remember her.

Fernanda’s literature class gets a substitute professor. His name is Diego Martinez and he’s gorgeous. Most of the girls in the class swoon and one in particular, Lucero (I believe) falls hard for him. Fer and Cam encourage her.

EPISODE #19 (Fri Mar 18) Pt. 3
Later, Carlos and Fernanda are on their way to meet one of Carlos’ patients. He’s told the old gentleman so much about her, he wishes to meet her. It’s an emotional encounter for both of them. He hugs and cries and exclaims that his daughter has come back to him. Does this mean she forgives him? Carlos and Blanca have to correct him. She is Carlos’ novia. Fer says she would love to have been the daughter he misses.

Mariana barges in and is startled by the setting, certainly not expecting Carlos to be with a different girl. Old Fer points out that her step-daughter Camila is a liar, making everyone believe Carlos was her boyfriend. Fer defends her friend Camila. She was just a bit confused. When Mariana learns her name is Fernanda, she stops to wonder if it could be Amelia’s daughter. Carlos gets an emergency call and they have to leave. Once outside, Fer tells Carlos she thought it was odd Old Fer confused her with his daughter. Carlos explains that he may be suffering from Alzheimer’s. Fer enjoyed the visit anyway. She felt a strong connection to him. She would love to have had a grandfather like him.

Mariana shows up near the Perez cottage where Pedro is out working. He remembers her. She wants to meet Fer, immediately if not sooner. She lies and says Old Fer would like to mend fences and meet her. Pedro blows her off telling her that Fer doesn’t want to have anything to do with them and she has a scholarship to study music abroad. After she leaves, Pedro wonders if he did the right thing. He convinces himself that her interest in Fer is that they want to take her away from him.

Fer takes solace in her violin. She imagines herself giving her first concert.

Anita, loved your recap. Your level of detail is excellent and your perception clear and concise. What a treat.

Favorite lines of many were "Through her boozy fog" and "Fer takes solace in her violin".

Arturo Carmona was a welcome sight, wasn't he?

Now I saw this episode but since I only watched the first few episodes, am still rather confused. I remember Amelia and her shrugging off her daughter's hugs were difficult to watch. Sadly that situation does not appear to have been changed. Your
"She could have had all this if she hadn’t slept with a man who doesn’t even remember her" is the sad key to this sordid tale...

Pedro is still handsome and still appears to love Amelia although for the life of me, I can't figure out why. I hope he has received some scraps of affection from a wife who seems absolutely miserable.

Mariana is still conniving and backstabbing her sister. So she wants to murder Fer? What an angle.

Was it the call of the blood that drew Fer's grandfather to her?

Thank you so much!

Diana

Anita, I loved your recap. Your perception is precise and crystal clear. Your detail is expressed vividly and beautifully.

"Through her boozy fog" and "Fer takes solace in her violin" were among my favorites. Yes, Arturo Carmona made a most welcome appearance, didn't he? Sigh.

I only watched the first few episodes so I'm still hazy on most everything but a few things don't seem to have changed.

Amelia still coldly rebuffs her daughters hugs and affection. She has the love of a wonderful daughter and a supportive, loving (and let's face it - hawt) husband. What a shame she is entwined in bitterness. Your "She could have had all this if she hadn’t slept with a man who doesn’t even remember her" said it all!

Ahh, was it the call of the blood summoning Fer's grandfather to "recognize" his "daughter"?

It does not appear there is much sisterly affection, does it? "Mariana leaves right after breakfast to find Amelia’s bastard and get rid of her". Lovely.

Anita, thank you for this wonderful recap. I hope to start watching again as I like what I saw and valued what you wrote...

Anita, sorry.

I thought my first comment got lost so did another.

Now, I see they have to be approved. I will know better next time.

Diana (Goddess of Wisdom)-- What an honor to have you share some of it on this humble post.

The intro for week 5 is under construction.

I certainly hope the appearance of Arturo Carmona isn't the beginning of that slippery downslope of introducing many new characters and side stories, which dilutes the strength of a telenovela, and in particular, this one. I didn't really need Miss Anorexia 2016 and her side story and now Lucero pining after Prof. Martinez.

The Call of the Blood is definitely still alive (Fer and her grandfather) and popular with the masses of telenovelas, as are lunares to denote some blood relationship and of course, fainting to reveal a pregnancy (rather than just missing a period or two and/or throwing up).

Hi Anita, Thank you so much for the recap. My Spanish translation isn't good enough to be a regular recapper, but I'll try to pinch-hit sometime again if you need me.

I'm wondering what will develop with the introduction of the character played by Arturo Carmona. Looks like trouble ahead.

As for the Carlos-Fernanda pairing, if he were in the U.S., he could lose his medical license for this kind of doctor-patient relationship. There's definitely a conflict of interest here, considering his involvement in Fernanda's lawsuit.

A Carlos-Fernanda endgame is pretty much a sure thing, but the other characters leave us plenty to speculate about, and that's where the fun comes in. Like many others on the patio, I'm in favor of a Pedro-Marissa lovematch.

Poor Fernanda has three enemies (Isabela, Mariana, and Camila), which also makes it interesting.

Aleta--You did a wonderful job highlighting the missing episodes to keep the story intact. I will let everyone know ahead of time when gaps are looming due to real life interfering.

Doctor-patient relationships aren't unknown in the U.S., nor are lawyer-client relationships or professor-student ones, or boss-employee ones. It is not only a matter of conflict of interest, but the possible conflict that comes when one of the partners has a position of authority over the other partner as well as the emotional one.

Week 5 will be up shortly.

Aleta--We could also add Amelia as one of Fernanda's enemies, so to speak. She certainly hasn't held back her misogynist attitudes when it comes to any man interested Fernanda. She's shown her true colors a number of times now.

Hello everyone...

Anita, that recap was a total refresher for me from Friday and professor fine, just threw a monkey-wrench in this game that I wasn't prepared for.

Aleta, don't forget Fernanda's main enemy (her own sperm donor) Luis! He despises Fer with his heart and soul! I would dare say that her mom is her enemy as well. Maybe not to the degree as Luis, Isabela, and Mariana (she didn't even do anything to deserve this one), but her dislike of her daughter has more to do with Pedro and Luis' rejection more than anything.

I'm not sure that I quite agree with the doctor-patient conflict with Carlos and Fer. He treated her once as an emergency, but she isn't really his patient...but I guess with the lawsuit, there could be a bias; however, the report from him was done before he became involved with her. The case was over, no continuing care was needed, so no problem. teeheehee!

Thank you, Christy! This is an old feed so you may not get much feedback. Your suggestion makes a lot of sense.
